After the previous edition, which saw HUElavia vanquishing the host nation of Quebec and Shingoryeo in the final, it's time for us to return to the volleyball court for the international success! Royal Quebecois Volleyball Federation (RQVF) is happy to organise the 13th edition of Volleyball World Expo. Those interested in participating are welcome to signup in this thread, with one puppet nation allowed per user. Signups will go on for at least a week and a half, with the numbers determining when would be the best time to close.

Ranks from the last three cycles will be used for this cycle. Please check here.

In addition, host bidding is OPEN for the right to host the tournament, with the bids to be entertained. The current deadline for host bids is 11:00 a.m. KST, October 3, or 72 hours after the latest bid submitted, depending on which of the two comes first. if If there is no host bid by the deadline, the RQVF will automatically be awarded the hosting right for the tournament.

13th Edition | Bollonich and Hispinas | Official Joint Host Bid

The Bollonischian Volleyball Federation (BVF) and the Royal Hispinas Volleyball Federation (FRVH) hereby submit its joint bid for the 13th Volleyball World Expo (VWE).

IC Information

Bollonich - Bollonich is a coastal nation located towards the north east of Rushmore with Græntfjall to the West and Weatherdon to the south. Bollonich is an advanced nation with two parties dominating the political scene. The most popular cities, Vreton and Fermont, are luxurious locations with great living facilities. Vreton is the capital of the Republic of Bollonich.
Bollonischian Volleyball is still growing in the nation with the BVL rising in stature. This was also greatly helped on by a good run in the most recent Volleyball World Expo. The Volleyball Federation is now trying to take Volleyball to the next level in the nation, banding up with fellow Rushmori nation Hispinas by presenting a bid to host the 13th Volleyball World Expo.

Hispinas - Hispinas, with official name of Kingdom of Hispinas, is a nation state located in the continent of Terranea in Eastern Rushmore, and has an estimated population of around 27 million inhabitants, the nation has land and maritime borders with several nations, with Szavoda to the west, a portion of land claimed by Nuevo Caracas to the south, and a maritime border with Pridnestrovia in Pavola to the west. The nation's capital, Mandrid, is located in the central portion of the nation, but the largest city is Cebuenas in the eastern portion.

With a goal of introducing themselves in the sporting front, Hispinas, through the newly-founded FRVH have collaborated with its Bollonichan counterparts to bid for the hosting of the 13th Edition of the VWE. Having participated in the last two editions, the volleyball team is the third most popular team from football and volleyball.

Proposed Tournament Format

Below is the plan for the formats proposed by the bidding parties. There will be scorinations every 24 hours regardless of whether it is double or single scorinations. We aim to have 5 to 7 days worth of group stages depending on the format.

24 participants - 2 groups of 12, Single Round Robin, double scorination
26 participants - 2 groups of 13, Single Round Robin, double scorination
28 participants - 4 groups of 7, Single Round Robin, single scorination
30 participants - 5 groups of 6, Double Round Robin, double scorination
32 participants - 4 groups of 8, Single Round Robin, single scorination

The prospective hosts are however ready to adapt to a higher or lower number of signups, to make the VWE a fun and engaging one.

Scorination and Timings

The tournament will be using the Indoor volleyball (Volleyball, indoor) module/event of the latest version of xkoranate (v0.3.3) for scoring the matches.

OOC timings will be finalized by the two bidding nations as this may vary with the format in use for the tournament. Notices will be posted in an event of an earlier or a delayed scorination, in the signup/OOC thread of the competition.

Third party scoring will be requested in case both the bidding nations face each other in the final or the third place playoff of the tournament.

RP Bonus

The latest VWE rankings will be used for this tournament. It will be up to the bidding parties if the ranks will be scaled based on the distribution of the rank points. Roleplays will be graded by quality (e.g. It will not depend on how long or how brief the RP was written), by how participants can effectively use resources available to them (e.g. opponent's roster post and preceding RP's, or scores generated in the scorinator), and by how participants respect or follow through with opponent's RP permissions. The hosts will also provide additional RP prompts to keep participants engaged and provide inspiration for Roleplaying.

The scale of the daily RP bonus for the tournament will depend on achieving the balance between rewarding consistent roleplayers and recognizing the participants' performance in the recently concluded editions of the VWE (aka rank points).


Tie Breakers

The official decision order for breaking ties, should number of wins be the same for teams after the group stage: shall be as follows:

1. Wins
2. Points
3. H2H Result
4. Set Ratio (total sets won / total sets lost)
5. Point Ratio (total points won / total points lost)
6. Coin toss (OOCly RP score)

Hosting Experience

The user behind Bollonich has hosted various tournaments, the biggest of which was the Baptism of Fire 76 co-hosting with Banija. Bollonich has also hosted the 14th International Baseball Slam and the 23rd Handball World Cup with Equestria.

The user behind Hispinas has also hosted or co-hosted a number of tournaments under various nation names including Campionato Esportiva 9, and 26, International Basketball Championships 25, and 27, Under-18 World Cup 4, World Cup of Hockey 24, and Rugby Union World Cup 23, and three editions of the Steinigestrasse Open as part of the NS Tennis Tour among other tournaments.
