What are your thoughts?
Validity: Invalid for nations without the Space program policy.

The @@DENONYM@@ Space Program has created an AI that is able to process simulations that have been tested to have a highly probable outcome. As this revelation spreads across @@NAME@@ like wildfire, a group of experts have barged into your office and are now awaiting your stance on what more can this AI be useful for.

Option 1. "This is AMAZING!", bellows out lead scientist @@RANDOMNAME@@ donning @@HIS@@ lab coat, with so many burn marks and unknown chemicals on it that the firefighters stand right behind @HIM@@. "And I won't let these buffoons ruin it! @@LEADER@@, we're better off using this only for scientific exploration and discovery. It's still a prototype, and who knows what this thing could unleash! It may raise the taxes a little to make this work, but surely the people of @@NAME@@ could spare for the chartering of the unknown!"

Result: Complex artificial intelligences simulate the likeliness of tax revolts.

Option 2. "You've got to be kidding me!", shouts back General @@RANDOMNAME@@. "There's more to that than just seeing a bunch of white dots! Imagine the possibilities! If you give the military some more funding, we may be able to tweak this simulation - and we'll be able to predict even our rivals most secretive orders!"

Result: The Wars Star Prequel Trilogy has been a box office success.

Option 3. "Alright, let me get this straight. These buffoons want to use this AI for the military and space? That's illogical." says renowned economist @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Just imagine, our glorious workers of the glorious revolution toiling away on the seeds of our glorious nation. If we get this glorious AI to do this for OUR country, our glorious workers will be available to spread the seeds of our glorious revolution. Don't get my glorious idea? We get this glorious AI to plan the economy for us. Think about it, more hands to take down those capitalist pigs! Oh and, if you really want - be sure to up my paycheck."

Option validity: Invalid for nations without the socialism policy.

Result: Millions of @@CURRENCY@@ go missing under magical circumstances in the new AI-planned economy.

Adds policy: AI Planned Economy

Option 4. "Hey! Listen to my idea! What about we use this 'simulation' and 'AI' to seek the probability of our glorious creator!" says the radical priest @@RANDOMNAME@@ of one of the major religions in @@NAME@@. "This thing could really help us out to seek the path of the divine! It may be a bit unorthodox and my fellow clergy may not approve of this, but it's a direct way to seek the blessing of our creator! And @@LEADER@@, if the simulation says otherwise - make sure to keep it under wraps."

Result: 'NOT ENOUGH DATA' has become a nationwide sensation.

Option 5. "Impossible! AI is a scourge! Imagine the far future; where some 'devout' citizens of our country bow down to this monstrosity!", says the more orthodox preist @@RANDOMNAME@@. "This AI is clearly evil and an abomination! I implore you to get rid of this AI, and computers themselves!"

Adds policy: No Computers

Result: Old is the new trend.

Validity: Invalid for nations without the Space program policy.

@@DEMONYM@@ scientists have recently created a simulation of the universe, to study the effects of dark matter and dark energy. There have been several ideas on how to handle and utilize such a novel revelation, and its now up to you to take a stance on it.

Option 1. "This is AMAZING!", bellows out lead scientist @@RANDOMNAME@@ donning his lab coat, with so many burn marks and unknown chemicals on it that the firefighters stand right behind him. Result: The Nation-state Obliterator 3000 has sparked action from much more than the planet.

Adds policy: Weapons of Mass Destruction

Option 3. "What is this nonsense?", says @@RANDOMNAME@@, half-asleep and covered in mud. "You've got ta make everyone be able to use this thing! It'd be nice to use this to.. y'know - grant our greatest wants. We'll be the best theme park in the worl-uh oh.. I think I've got a col-UCHUU!" as @@HE@@ is escorted off the premises.

Result: @@NAME@@ has become the ultimate themepark of the future.

You should probably use @@HE@@ instead of the last @@RANDOMNAME@@ on option 3. Most options are also usually longer than those in your draft. I'd say like 3-4 lines of text.

This draft has lots of visible issues in the draft issue, and if I had to edit 5,476,861 times, even I would have an issue. If you haven't yet, read the issues FAQ.

Thanks! I must have misremembered. I'll fix it right away.

Fixed, as last time. I apologize for those inconsistencies - It's my first time doing something like this.

I like the idea and it's very nice to see more issues drafts being created around the Space Program policy, but my main issue with the premise at the moment is why @@LEADER@@ has to take a stance on this. In addition, it's a little unclear what exactly @@LEADER@@ has to take a stance on: the simulation or the revelation of dark matter and energy.

If it is the simulation, then I am not sure whether that merits a response from the national leader. Sure, it's fantastic to have such a simulation but ultimately it is most useful to scientists and the scientific community. In this case, perhaps you could do something with the Space Program having produced an AI capable of running such simulations with highly probable outcomes, and now the question is whether such a machine should only be used for Space research and exploration, or whether there are also other uses for such an AI. That would make the simulation element of your draft premise more of a national issue.

If @@LEADER@@ is supposed to take a stance on dark matter and energy however, then that is more problematic. NationStates uses modern day technology in its storytelling with some leeway for more advanced stuff. However, dark matter and dark energy are way beyond our reach in reality at this point, and I fear they would be too advanced for NationStates storytelling as well. Sure, I think it would be okay if their existence was confirmed, but their confirmation isn't really a national issue nor can it bring any practical uses yet.

I would recommend you revisit the premise of this issue draft and try to narrow it down to a more national issue. For example, the suggestion I made with the hyper advanced AI capable of making very probable simulations. You could then add in options with scientists wanting to use it, but also economists, the military and perhaps some spiritual faction wanting to prove the probability of a higher power.

I hope this helps! :)

This helps, so so much! It is true that this is a bit out of modern-day grasp, and a bit illogical on why Leader should take a stance on this. I'll revisit the entire issues premise and see what I can change and do better according to this comment. It's my first time, so I'm apologizing in advance for my mistakes. There will be a second draft soon.

I apologize for the late reply; but alright.

There is now a third draft. I will most likely submit soon.
