Does your nation allow for privately owned vehicles?: Yes, of course.
If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?: Yes, outside of very large cities most Radiatians own a car, or a snowmobile and helicopter ownership is quite common too.
Does your nation have a road system in place?: Yes, although different types of roads are maintained by local, state or federal authorities.
What is its quality?: Generally good but it does depend a little on where you are. Roads in rural areas tend to be less well-maintained than in cities, while road quality through much of the northern states lacks the quality of the roads in southern states due to rough terrain and climate (i.e. they can only be maintained in summer due to heavy snowfall).
Does your nation operate any public bus lines?: The government doesn't, but there are plenty of private companies who do.
If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?: Not really, although some companies have a seedy reputation and a few have one-star reviews.
What is the quality of these lines?: Oh wait, by 'lines' did you mean 'lanes'? If so the earlier answer is 'not nationally, but some cities have them'.
Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate busses or other motor vehicles? Of course. I mean, Joe Taxpayer is hardly going to pay for such services.
What powers motor vehicles in your nation? Select all that apply and feel free to elaborate:
The vast majority are powered by fossil fuels (which is still cheap in Radiatia, given that its an oil-producing nation), although hybrid vehicles are growing in popularity. Electric vehicles don't have the range to really be a viable option in a country as vast as Radiatia and as such are more of a novelty than a serious option.

Does your nation have a railway system?: Yes
If yes, what is its quality?: It's passable in some areas, and in a terrible state of disrepair in others
Is rail controversial? A little bit, yes
Is the rail system (if it exists) state-run, privatized, or operated by both government and private companies?: Completely private, with the dominant companies being TransRadiatia and Exegrad Selt.
Do Amy cities in your nation operate any high-speed rail line(s)?: Yes, there is currently one running between Exegrad and Radii with a proposed high speed line to Xerconia.
If yes, is it government run, privatized, or mixed government and private operation?: It's private but with a major government contribution.
What is the quality of the high-speed rail system? (If it exists): Pretty good, because it's brand spanking new.
Is high speed rail controversial in your nation?: Extremely, especially because it was part funded by the federal government, went over budget and was completed years after it was scheduled to be opened. Also it only helps people in already wealthy parts of the country.
is high speed rail used exclusively any specific groups? (Wealthy, government, military personnel, etc.): People living in Alayenia and Radia, i.e. two of the most wealthy states in Radiatia
What is rail used for in your nation? (if it exists): Goods transport and sometimes passengers
What powers your nation's rail system? (Feel free to select all that apply and elaborate if desired)
Gasoline/petrochemicals: 0%
Hybrid: 0%
Electric: 15%
Hydrogen fuel: 0%
Natural gas: 0%
Diesel: 85%
Other (please specify)

Does your nation have air travel services?: Yes
Is air travel controversial?: No
What is the quality of air travel in your nation?: Mixed. Ranges from extremely low to extremely high, depending on what you paid for.
Are citizens allowed to own aircraft in your nation?: Yes and this is very common due to Radiatia's vast size.
Is air travel privatized or government owned?: 100% private
Are commercial airlines allowed to use your nations airspace?: Yes
Are private pilots allowed to use your nation's airspace?: Radiatians can, foreigners cannot
What powers aircraft in your nation?: AVGAS or Jet A1 fuel.

Does your nation allow for privately owned vehicles?: Yes
If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?: Cars are reasonably common possessions across Pulsroth, although not as common within the cities. In the Eastern mountains and the extreme northwest, the deep snow in winter makes using a car difficult, so many people get around on skis instead.
Does your nation have a road system in place?: Yes, a rather extensive one.
What is its quality?: In major cities, road quality is very good, and the same is true of the wider metropolitan areas. In rural parts of the country, road quality varies from poor to reasonably good.
Does your nation operate any public bus lines?: Bus lines exist in most towns and cities throughout Pulsroth, although they're usually privately run.
If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?: N/A
What is the quality of these lines?: In smaller towns, they often have significant funding from private enterprise, and so they are high quality. Within the cities, metro systems and commuter rail tend to receive more support than bus lines, so they tend to be lower quality in such areas.
Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate busses or other motor vehicles?: Yes

If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?: In the more rural areas yes
Does your nation have a road system in place?: Yes, the road system is mostly maintained by the Federal and provincial governments with federal subsidies for roads.
What is its quality?: Very good.
Does your nation operate any public bus lines?: Yes, the provincial and local governments operate many bus lines.
If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?: No
What is the quality of these lines?: Depends on the province or locality. Some lines are ok while others are terrible, most of the more wealthy areas will have better systems
Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate busses or other motor vehicles? Yes though this is limited to taxi services, and long and medium haul bus service. Short haul, and Transit bus services are required to be publicly controlled. Rideshare systems are Federally illegal

Does your nation allow for privately owned vehicles?: Yes
If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?: Not everywhere, and not all the time. Things in cities and suburbs are generally pretty close to each other, so most people ride bikes or walk when the weather is milder in the late autumn and winter, but more people drive as warmer weather sets in. Cars are annually common in rural areas that are sparsely populated and have farms, manufacturing centers and isolated private residences
Does your nation have a road system in place?: Yes, a fairly sprawling but environmentally careful one
What is its quality?: City and suburban road qualities are generally ranked highly, while rural roads are generally of moderate to high quality
Does your nation operate any public bus lines?: Yes, and all buses are fully electric
If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?: No
What is the quality of these lines?: Generally ranked moderate to highly, some residents want more funding for them
Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate buses or other motor vehicles? With the proper licensure and clearance
What powers motor vehicles in your nation? Select all that apply and feel free to elaborate:
Gasoline/petrochemichals: outlawed
Hybrid: de facto outlawed
Electric: ✓
Hydrogen fuel: ✓
Natural gas:
Other (please specify): solar power

Does your nation allow for privately owned vehicles?:
Yes.
If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?:
Not especially. Only about 49% of Colonial families have at least one vehicle.
Does your natiin have a road system in place?:
Yes.
What is its quality?:
Highly variable on the whole, but 95% of it is paved.
Does your nation operate any public bus lines?:
Individual subplanetary governments operate public bus lines, yes.
If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?:
Sometimes, especially when they are set up on planets whose economic policy encourages detached housing and whose tax policy tries to subtly discourage nonhumans from living there.
What is the quality of these lines?:
Also variable. Some are shitty gestures at the poor that might as well be funded by their primary users, given how infrequently they operate and how dilapidated their vehicles are. Others are models for public transit throughout the Milky Way.
Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate busses or other motor vehicles?
Yes. They own the majority of motor vehicles.
What powers motor vehicles in your nation? Select all that apply and feel free to elaborate:
Gasoline/petrochemichals:
2.5% of vehicles are powered this way. It's highly taxed.
Hybrid:
3.75% of vehicles are powered this way. Also taxed quite heavily.
Electric:
Used by 35% of vehicles, mostly compact cars, buses and some short-range trucks.
Hydrogen fuel:
Used by 50% of all vehicles. The "hydrogen" is derived from electrolysis of water.
Natural gas:
Used by 4.5% of all vehicles.
Other (please specify):
Teleonic batteries are used by 4.75% of all vehicles; it's mainly found in scientific expeditionary rovers and probes as well as some military vehicles.
The United Colonies of Earth exists:

Does your nation allow for privately owned vehicles?:
Personal ownership of vehicles is permitted but uncommon, as the accessibility of public transport makes such ownership worthwhile largely only for motor enthusiasts, remote citizens, and independent contractors.

If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?:
As above, it is uncommon.

Does your nation have a road system in place?:
Australia possesses a robust road system that connects the nation's communes, which is primarily used by service, transport, and logistics vehicles (i.e. freight, emergency services, busses, etc...). There are interstate highways, but most interstate travel and freight utilitises the nation's interstate rail service.

What is its quality?:
The quality of these roads is fairly high and consistent across states and territories, as they are built for heavier vehicles. Streets, the equivalent within communes, are only designed for limited vehicle traffic, as primarily pedestrian thoroughfares.

Does your nation operate any public bus lines?:
Yes, bus services run both within and between communes, providing short to medium length routes.

If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?:
There are no controversies regarding our nation's bus services.

What is the quality of these lines?:
These bus lines are of high quality. Busses are typically punctual and have ample capacity, whilst services are frequent.

Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate busses or other motor vehicles?
No. Public transportation is operated solely by the state, whilst business vehicles (such as the aforementioned freight vehicles) are owned and operated by the nation's collectivised workers' syndicates.

What powers motor vehicles in your nation? Select all that apply and feel free to elaborate:
  • Gasoline/petrochemichals: Petrochemicals have been phased out of use in the past few decades.
  • Hybrid: Whilst the infrastructure does not exist in most places, most vehicles are designed to be able to run on alternative fuels aside from or in addition to electricity.
  • Electric: All Australic vehicles are designed to operate on electricity and as such the nation's road infrastructure is designed for use by electric vehicles.
  • Hydrogen fuel: Hydrogen fuel has been theorised, but application has not yet been attempted.
  • Natural gas: Gas is one of the fuels for which some vehicles are hybridised.
  • Other (please specify): Some vehicles are hybridised to use biofuels as an auxiliary fuel.

Does your nation allow for privately owned vehicles?: Yes
If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?: Somewhat. It is common in rural areas, but not in cities.
Does your natiin have a road system in place?: Yes.
What is its quality?: Good, although it is better in the rural areas, as local bureaucracy slows the process of road repair in cities.
Does your nation operate any public bus lines?: Sort of. All public transport (busses, taxis, ferries, and airliners) is organized under the Union of Teamsters, Ferrymen, and Pilots (UTFP). As with any union that provides a vital public service, the UTFP is under strong oversight. Of course, the UTFP also has representation in the General Assembly.
If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?: No.
What is the quality of these lines?: Fairly good, especially in cities.
Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate busses or other motor vehicles? Depends on your definition. Independent companies (outside the remit of the UTFP) are not allowed. However, new cooperatives can be created, and the UTFP generally allows them a great deal of autonomy (provided they don't step on the toes of an existing cooperative).

Does your nation allow for privately owned vehicles?: Yes, citizens are able to own any class of motor vehicle, fuel cell vehicle, and electric vehicle but are subject to regulations on their use.
If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?: There are approximately 150 light vehicles per 1,000 Slavujan citizens.
Does your nation have a road system in place?: Yes, there is a privately-owned and managed toll-road highway system with two government owned highways.
What is its quality?: Privately owned highways are in line with European standards and average 2.5 lanes in each direction with the widest highway having 4 lanes in each direction. The government highways both have 2 lanes in each direction and are somewhat lower quality - no digital roadsigns and longer maintenance intervals on the asphalt.
Does your nation operate any public bus lines?: Bus transport is the primary mode of long-distance transport for private citizens in Slavuja. Bus networks are extensive and all are privately-run.
If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?: No, private bus companies provide good service to Slavujans and visitors to the nation.
What is the quality of these lines?: Modern buses are used, with heating and A/C. Certain regional lines operate using older buses (mostly from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikarbus) but offer substantially lower ticket prices.
Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate buses or other motor vehicles?: Yes, there are no government transport companies. Only municipalities have their own city bus services.
What powers motor vehicles in your nation? Select all that apply and feel free to elaborate:
Gasoline/petrochemichals: Gasoline is used in light duty vehicles, but overwhelmingly in combination with LPG (gasoline is used to start the car due to its higher energy density, but the car then runs on LPG). Diesel is used by many older vehicles and heavy equipment.
Hybrid: Hybrid vehicles are rare in Slavuja, though their market share is increasing in major urban centres such as Malina and Szabadka.
Electric: Very few vehicles in Slavuja are powered by conventional lithium-ion battery powered electric cars due to the national ban on lithium extraction in Slavuja and import penalties for lithium products.
Hydrogen fuel: New buses and commercial trucks are mostly powered by hydrogen due to investment and cooperation with the Federal Republic of Niater.
Natural gas: The vast majority of gasoline-powered light duty vehicles in Slavuja are also equipped with LPG (liquified propane gas) tanks and can run on propane and/or butane mixtures, albeit with reduced horsepower. LPG is extremely common throughout Slavujan gas stations and is substantially more affordable and therefore the preferred choice of citizens.
Other (please specify): N/A

Slavuja is like many Eastern European nations in its reliance on private bus companies, use of LPG, and lack of electric vehicles. It is in a better environmental position because of national subsidies for hydrogen power and cooperation with Niater which is known for its embrace of hydrogen. One particularity of Slavuja is the low amount of personal vehicles per 1,000 citizens, this is because of the import taxes that vehicle manufacturers must pay to export to Slavuja - this also explains why the most common light duty vehicles are produced by L&K Škoda Slavuja LLC. which has a factory in Slavuja.

Does your nation allow for privately owned vehicles?: Of course.
If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?: Yes, there is common for households to have at least a car.
Does your nation have a road system in place?: We have several levels of road system from local to national levels.
What is its quality?: very high almost exclusively is paved with plenty kms of express ways.
Does your nation operate any public bus lines?: No, except in large cities that have municipal transport companies. Generally most bus service is done under concession. Between local administrations and private companies. Where services, price and frequencies are pacted.
If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?: no. But in rural areas (80% of population lives 20% of territory) local administrations cover part of the running costs.
What is the quality of these lines?: Normally good as concessions also check the quality of service.
Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate busses or other motor vehicles? Of course.
What powers motor vehicles in your nation? Fossil fuels are the most common way to power vehicles. But each time a higher proportion of vehicles are Hybrid and electrical.
Select all that apply and feel free to elaborate:
Gasoline/petrochemichals: 80% of the park is gasoline + Diesel. Govt plans are that most vehicles will be electric and hybrid by 2032.
Hybrid: 11%
Electric: 7%
Hydrogen fuel: 1%

Does your nation allow for privately owned vehicles?: Yes, but few people own them outside of rural regions.
If yes, is it common to own a car or other vehicle?: No, unless one resides in a remote rural region.
Does your natiin have a road system in place?: Yes, all publicly funded.
What is its quality?: It's decent and is maintained and controlled by the workers who constructed it.
Does your nation operate any public bus lines?: Yes. We have a very extensive public transportation network. We have both bus lines and metro lines.
If yes, are they a controversy in your nation?: Absolutely not. Cars and other motor vehicles are more of a controversy.
What is the quality of these lines?: They are well-maintained and in pristine condition. Few nations have a better public transportation system than ours.
Does your nation contain or allow for private transport companies to operate busses or other motor vehicles? Transportation companies, like all others, are owned and operated by the workers. If the workers feel it is right for these companies to have cars then they will. Currently this is not the case.
What powers motor vehicles in your nation? Most vehicles in our nation are electric. Some of the more remote regions may still use gasoline powered vehicles, however.

Does your nation have a railway system?:
Yes. Australia is home to the Australic Interstate Rail (A.I.R) Network, one of the most advanced and fastest rail networks in the world. This ultra-fast network connects the contiguous nation's state and territory capitals to one another via an arterial interstate rail system. Along these lines, especially along straight and isolated stretches of track such as those across the Nullarbor Plain in Western Australia, express trains are able to travel at speeds faster than the average passenger aircraft, thus being the fastest method of travel between state capitals available in addition to the most efficient, sustainable, and affordable.

In addition to these arterial lines, auxiliary rural networks exist in each state and territory that operate concurrently, offering slower (but still relatively high-speed) routes connecting smaller population centres to their state metropoles, and offering a more scenic journey to interstate passengers.

If yes, what is its quality?:
The average speed of these networks can vary greatly, due to the vast density disparity/disparity in distance between population centres between states, but is comparable to similar systems in Japan and Europe.

Australia possesses the longest non-stop rail service in the southern hemisphere by distance, between Perth and Sydney, which is just over 4000kms (2500mi) long. Aboard the A.I.R. Network, this trip typically takes less than 6 hours. Being an island nation, Australia has no international rail connections.

Is rail controversial?
Not at all; the A.I.R. is considered a great work and a source of national pride.

Is the rail system (if it exists) state-run, privatized, or operated by both government and private companies?:
The A.I.R. Network is operated by the Federal Consolidated Transportation Syndicate, whilst the various auxiliary rail services are operated by the State Transportation Syndicates. Most of the infrastructure, and the trains themselves, were built domestically, but some component fabrication and construction was done with assistance from the Japanese Ministry of Railways (鉄道省) and the Britannic Railwaymens' League. There are no private rail operators in Australia.

Do Any cities in your nation operate any high-speed rail line(s)?:
Most metropolitan rail networks are considered light rail (i.e. trams), or spurs/hubs of the A.I.R. and/or state networks.

If yes, is it government run, privatized, or mixed government and private operation?:
As with all other transportation services, these services are state-run and operated by the state-level Consolidated Transportation Syndicates.

What is the quality of the high-speed rail system? (If it exists):
As aforementioned.

Is high speed rail controversial in your nation?:
Again, as aforementioned, no.

is high speed rail used exclusively any specific groups? (Wealthy, government, military personnel, etc.):
No. All are able to use rail services freely.

What is rail used for in your nation? (if it exists):
Rail is the 2° biggest form of commuter transportation (behind walking/cycling and ahead of busses) and is the main transporter of freight domestically.

What powers your nation's rail system? (Feel free to select all that apply and elaborate if desired)
  • Gasoline/petrochemicals: Some older models of train STL operate on such fuels.
  • Hybrid: Many non high-speed trains have hybrid capabilities
  • Electric: Most trains, including those of the A.I.R., are primarily electric.
  • Hydrogen fuel: Some prototype models have been designed with the capability to use such a fuel.
  • Natural gas: No operating trains in Australia utilise this fuel.
  • Diesel: As with petrol, some trains retain the use of diesel fuel.
  • Other (please specify): Technically speaking, there are some rail vehicles that are kinetically powered, such as handcarts and some rail elevators.
January 27° - The 2025 Federal Election season has begun! Initial three-party preferred polls put the I.S.P. ahead at 37%, followed by the Country Party at 34%, then Labor at 29%.
