N Day 2021 Start Time

While it has usually been the tradition to start the N Day countdown around a week before the event itself, would it be possible to receive a less flashy, but much earlier, post on this thread from the people in charge as to the EXACT N Day start time and date for this year (plus the relevant timezone)?

This would be very useful for the people who actually take the event seriously and plan their day in advance for it. Furthermore, this would be a good way to make sure the rather unfortunate mistake that happened last year does not occur again.

Oh no, this doesn't affect your NS Stats and policies, and vice versa (none of the policies and stats will influence you), so everyone starts on equal footing, and you can have fun with it and keep it non-canonical.

Generally speaking it runs for 24 hours. As to what to you can do, you can either start your own faction or join another group's faction. I know a lot of the bigger factions will coordinate via Discord servers as to which groups or nations to target or avoid attacking. Some of the usual suspects are probably starting to lay out their plans already. I see you're in 10000 Islands, you might want to ask around your region to see if they're planning to join in.

I'm probably writing as an update that there's a very strong possibility that I will not be able to do a coverage like I did with the last N Day. So sorry about that!

On top of the usual 9-6 job, coupled with accounting for timezones, and there being way too many events and factions small and big to cover (and I missed covering A LOT of smaller factions previously), someone will have to do the reporting this time. Probably. I know it says 26th (Sunday) but again, timezones are a thing. >,<

N-Day coincided with Yom Kippur (יום כיפור) last year.

As per my write-up:

It is well-known that N-Day for NationStates is meant to coincide with the actual United Nations’ International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. However, for the first few hours before the official reply, there were debates and concerns on the threads about the fact that the times for N-Day are clashing and conflicting with Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, whereby Jews traditionally observe this holy day with a day-long fast and intensive prayer, often spending most of the day in synagogue services. It was later clarified by [Violet] in the same thread that it was a honest mistake and keeping this forward in mind, alternative arrangements and changes to the commencement of N-Day will be made for the future.

Although, this year would not be a problem with Yom Kippur, because it was from 15th to 16th September this year AFAIK.

2023 Yom Kippur is the 24th-25th so it might be a good idea

Is there a reason it's not something that happens automatically on a set date? Seems strange not to do so.

It's tied to the lunar cycle, I think, because Judaism historically used [and still uses?] a lunar calendar rather than a solar one. (c.f. Easter, whose date was originally derived from that of Passover).

I see on the news post that the event is running from the 25th through the 26th instead of the 26th through the 27th. Was this intentional or did [v] just fat finger something again like last year? And will the event run from the 25th through the 26th moving forward?
