Tragedy at Villa de Leans

Image
The Burning remains of Villa de Leans

2 January 2132
Colfico City, Colfico

Fire and Death mark the beginning of the new Queen Adriana of Colfico, a gift it seems, from Queen Philippa, who, despite her divorce from King Sebastian and his abdicated, claimed to be queen regnant over the last week.

At roughly seven o’clock in the evening, security guards arrived at Villa de Leans, the royal residence of the former king and queen. As they entered, it appears they locked the doors and seals the windows, quietly turning the villa into a prison.

At 7:22 Queen Philippa had the Crown Jewels of Colfico, a gift from her mother brought into her bedroom chambers. Minutes later, her mother Princess Francesca and her lady-in-waiting Tiphanie Charpentier join her and the jewels, along with several of her advisors and attendants.

Suddenly at 7:42 an gun fire was heard in the Villa de Leans by the gardener outside. Two minutes later the second floor of the royal residence exploded. Screams from house staff and guards filled the air as many attempted to try and escape the ensuing blaze that engulfed the estate.

As fire fighters arrived on the scene, half a dozen people were found outside of the flaming estate, having broken through windows to escape the fire. The survivors have yet to be named. Queen Philippa, believed to be the mastermind behind this tragedy is presumed dead.

It is at this time believed that the fire at Villa de Leans was an act of suicide and murder on the part of the twenty-year-old, in order to kill both herself, members of her family and inner circle and to destroy the Crown Jewels.

Some have even suggested that it was a dark attack on Adriana, who Philippa, along with the National Assembly and Sebastian Merrimack laid the blamed for her woes. This Tragedy at Villa de Leans is one that leaves us at RTG shocked and horrified.

The Horrors of Sae!

Fighting continued in the snow-melt ladden cliffsides and valleys of the Tambakos Mountain Range of Imarati. After being under siege for a year, the small city of Sae fell to the forces of Besarion, the one true King of Imarati as he was proclaimed over a year ago. The siege was a long and horrific affair, with thousands left dead in the fighting around the city and almost the entirety of the population of Sae dying of diseases that were inflamed by the circumstances of the siege.

This revelation has lead, it seem to more and more panic across the country in the Central Valley of Imarati, the Red Council, besotted on all sides by pro-Besarion, pro-Helene and purely anarchist cells, has begun to lose their grip on the outer territories of their holdings. More and more deaths of the countryside are falling to bandits, anarchistic cells and minor warlords as more Imaratians question who can truly protect them.

The Blessings and Curses of Geography

5 March 2132
Estresende, Dasorres

Exciting news from the Department of Finance as Minister Raimundo Resendes released the country's first National Mineral Resources Survey Report following eight months of intensive expeditionary surveying of the Esetepas, the vast steppes, badlands, moors, and peat-bogs that cover most of western Dasorres. For decades, Dasorres has been a nation that has relied on its agricultural resources. Dasorres sits squarely on the aptly named Dasorresan Plateau. The majority of the country is covered in dense deciduous forests, with several small but no less dense temperate rainforests in the south of the country. With land coverage in mind, the nation can be roughly spilt into three sections: the eastern Verdasorres where 85% of the population lives, the western the Esetepas where the are mostly uninhabited grasslands are home to 5% of the population, and lastly the far southern Revessa, isolated green areas where 10% of the population lives.

Verdasorres is home to the urban cities and breadbasket of the country, with significant swathes of cultivated land. It was in Revessa, where warmer climates have lead to vineyards spread out across the hills near the Caraintese border that interest in mineral resources began. It all started in the small city of Varona when a local winery owner, Amedeo Panarese was expanding his vineyard when he struck oil. Literally. Panarese was shocked to find oil beneath his estate as were the Varona municipality authorities. This surprise led to the Senhoria of Dasorres, the highest of the national government, inquire about other mineral resources that may lay beneath the surface. Verdasorres, though fertile, is basically devoid of mineral resources, but the rest of the country was mostly unsurveyed. It was decided that this fact had to change.

Thus began the first National Mineral Resources Survey, lead by geologist, Dr. Guálter Rego and a team of 247 surveyors. This expeditionary task was directed by the Finance Ministery. Dr. Rego and his team started in Varona and slowly made their way north across the Esetepas to Luizaburg. The survey was notably difficult as the Esetepas is almost entirely devoid of human life and entirely lacks any formal infrastructure. Dr. Rego's resulting survey is one that is said to have cost the government 12.6 billion moedas. It in total took a little over eight months to complete, two months longer than what had been originally projected by the Finance Ministery, due once again to the aforementioned lack of formal infrastructure. This has raised some interest in talks of having more roads built out into the isolated hamlets and few farms for those who do make their home in the remote lands of the Esetepas.

More pressing and of great interest is the results of Dr. Rego's survey. While Verdasorres is devoid of mineral resources, it seems the Esetepas are rich in them. Evidence of large deposits of coal, lignite, copper, iron, lead, zinc, phosphorus, salt fields, and natural gas present in the Esetepas. Smaller deposits of tin, nickel, chromium, manganese, sulfur, and rhenium were also found. In the far south in Revassa meanwhile, a large reservoir of petroleum has been discovered, sparking new interest in the region. The estimates for the amounts in the reserves are shocking and intentionally of great economic interest. [

  • Bituminous Coal 20,110 million tonnes
  • Lignite Coal 2,548 million tonnes
  • Copper 201 million tonnes
  • Iron 965 million tonnes
  • Lead 100 million tonnes
  • Zinc 44 million tonnes
  • Phosphorus 102 million tonnes
  • Natural Gas 49 sq km
  • Tin 61 tonnes
  • Nickel 16 tonnes
  • Chromium 13 tonnes
  • Maganese 5 tonnes
  • Sulfur 19 tonnes
  • Rhenium 4 tonnes
  • Petroleum 138 million barrels

The results of the survey are of great interest to many, with the push for people to be able to access the resources of the Esetepas. It has not been lost on many that the resource-rich part of the country falls in the most remote and inhospitable parts of the nation, making reaching them costly and difficult. The exception being the vast petroleum reserve in Revassa, with Varona being relatively well connected to the rest of the country. The resulting news already has to lead to an oil rush in Varona as ambitious fortune finders have flooded to the south to buy up land and drill into the ground in order to reap the reward of the fortunes that could be found beneath the soil. Finance Minister Resendes has assured people that the findings of the survey will serve as the start of a prosperous and needed boom to the nation's middling economy.

Caraintos One News

Hundreds of Ethnic Caraintese Displaced in Reverra!

The Crown made an statement condemning the actions of Dasorresan officials across the northern border in the region known as Reverra after reports came to the central government’s attention of the treatment of ethnic Caraintese. Reverra, a region that straddles the border between Caraintos and Dasorres, is home to a majorly Caraintese population. In recent news it had become known that the region also sits atop a large oil reserve, one previously unnoted and thus untapped. With the Panarese Oil Discovery and subsequent large scale surveying of the region, a black gold rush had popped into existence with Dasorresans racing to the region in search of fortune. This on its own would not be of any concern, but with the rush of greed, morality and rights of humanity have been thrown aside. According to the Crown, there are reports of ethnic Caraintese families being forced from their land by Dasorresan mercenaries, fortune hunters and even government officials in search for oil. Over a thousand people are said to have been displaced in just the last month alone and with that like to only get worse and worse. Some have fled across the border seeking aid.

“We are applauded by the actions of Dasorresans in the Reverra, who seek not only to destroy the beautiful and fertile land of the region, but to also destroy the entire culture that exists there. We can not stand silent, for if we do, this is a slippery slope towards ethnic cleansing, or even Genocide, greased by Reverrese oil.”.

Rise in Dasorresan-Caraintese Tensions

15 April 2132
Estresende, Dasorres

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, lead by Dom Américo Silvestre, expressed its outrage at the Caraintese Crown’s statement yesterday over baseless rumors of the mistreatment of ethnic Caraintese citizens of Dasorres. Press Secretary for the Foreign Minister, Marciane Baptista addressed a press conference in Estresende stating:

“The statement made by the Crown of Caraintos was one made based on misinformation, rumors and outright lies meant to undermine the friendship between our nations, likely by agents of chaos and despair in the Revassa community or even in the Caraintese government.”

Baptista assured reporters at D.N.N. that there is no government backed expulsion of ethnic Caraintese people off their land. Baptista did state that over the course of the last month there has been an increase of ethnic Dasorresans arriving in southern Revassa cities, specifically in the city of Varona as people look to drill for oil.

It has been noted that while property has been acquired, it has all been done legally and through the formal process of members of national recognized guilds of mining, drilling and surveying, with those previous owners to have been compensated. This however is not known expect what the rate of compensation has been.

Revassa is home to an estimated 138 million barrels of petroleum and the discovery of which had lead to a so called ‘black gold rush’ as hundreds of people, mainly ethnic Dasorresans from the northeast of the country making their way to the far south in search of fortunes. This mass internal migration already does seem to upset the demographics of the Revassa region.

It is this suspected that the true outrage of the Caraintese government is that of being upset of demographic shifts in Revassa and the discovery of such a source of petroleum found on the Dasorresan side of the border. In like of this, the Senhoria of Dasorres has ordered the National Guard to move into Revassa in order to ensure order and stability in the region.

Elections are over, Minister Arjan Wes Elected Prime Minister!

Image
Caption: Arjan Wes, National Party Member and the New Prime Minister.

It has been a long process since the National Assembly became the main body of government of the nation, and it has been a long, difficult road since then, establishing the bureaucracy and mechanisms necessary for a democratic system to function properly, especially during an election. However, that process finally came to fruition, as voters came to polls a week ago, with four candidates who ran for the position of Prime Minister. These four candidates ran a tough race, with each one having lobbied substantially to try and win over the populace, and gain the votes necessary to achieve victory.

Now, the results are in after a week of counting and checking each vote, to ensure no corruption, and no foul play. The winner has been Arjan Wes, member of the National Party, a centralist party that has recently become fairly popular amongst Colficoans. Arjan is notable for his calm demeanor, and for being a very capable negotiator, as well a no-nonsense forty-eight year old politician who has seen civil service for years, and who saw extensive action during the Southern War as a captain of a submarine, although the exact vessel that he served upon is currently unknown, although that in itself is not unusual, as the National Colficoan Navy is guards the secrets of the operation of its submarines very carefully and jealously.

The minister ran on a campaign centered around a focus on the economy and infrastructure, particularly on resuming the infrastructure projects of the former monarchy, and the many thousands of jobs that those programs would create in Colfico, and long term benefit and use that these programs would bring to the nation, particularly focusing on expanding the nations rail and road systems, and even floating the idea of a canal system near the coast. The new minister will run for a term of five years, the new official standard, by law, a Prime Minister of Colfico shall run, and will be allowed to re run two additional times, for a total maximum of three terms. The Prime Minister Elect was sworn in, giving his vows over a copy of the nations constitution, a oddity, but sending a very clear message, his loyalty and duty to the nation, and its people, come before all, even faith, making a marked departure not only from those leaders of the past, but also those of the nations neighbors, and in particular, a direct contradiction to the wishes of the late former queen, Philippa. Only time will tell how Prime Minister Wes shall lead the nation, but one thing is for sure, it is time to get to work, and there is much to do.

State Counsellor Danladi Obasey Assassinated in Terrorist Attack!

April 27, 2132

The Turandan Republic has only just won its independence, unifying under the guidance of seasoned politician Danladi Obasey who was elected the first head of state and government of Turanda only weeks ago, now is faced with being torn apart. Turanda is a nation of duality. Spilt in half both physically between the arid leeward west of the Turandan Alps and the lush windward east of them; and culturally between the Lajaz and Jinsi. This, along with the divisions of faith between Orthodoxy, Islam and Protestantism has made it a great feet that the nation was unified and gained independence on the international stage.

Danladi Obasey, 55, an Orthodox Jinsi took the position of State Counsellor and with his workaholic tendencies went to work to build a modernized state through his on particular form of ‘enlightened autocracy’. However it seems to have quickly proved that his strangle hold on power and his determination to act in the interest of the common people himself along with his harsh and unbending manner of dealing with other leaders of the nation, which led him to micro-manage the government by attempting to be the "minister of everything" as Obasey only trusted himself to govern properly, has proven to have driven the country to the breaking point.

The final straw it seems came a week ago when Obasey imprisoned General Abderrahman Al-Aziz, 67, a Muslim Lajaz, who aided in the unification of the country. General Al-Aziz and his brother, Zarif Al-Aziz had been invited to speak with Obasey to discuss the formation of sub national administrative regions, an idea that Obasey fiercely opposed, preferring a strong centralized and national government. So fiercely was this stance, that Obasey had General Al-Aziz arrested while Zarif fled the scene. General Al-Aziz has continued to attempt to protest from his cell, but it was left to his brother to take action. And today, he did.

As a devout Orthodox, Obasey attempted church at the Saint Abba Guba’s Cathedral in the center of Bendas at the Independence Square, the capital of Turanda located on the coast of the Bay of Bendas, a saltwater inlet of the wider Southern Sea. Obasey was in attendance to the morning service along with two thousand other members of the faith, including Obasey’s sister, Fayola Obasey. While the gathered attendees attended mass without incident it was as the many churchgoers were leaving the grand cathedral that disaster struck. Danladi Obasey descended the front steps of Saint Abba Guba’s Cathedrak attended by his sister and three bodyguards along with Mayor Busheer Sinaceur when he came to his limousine, a black Chrysler Windsor Limousine. Obasey said good bye to his sister, as she had to go back inside to speak with Father Bilal Abouzeid, while Sinaceur got into the limousine. Obasey stepped into the limousine. Witnessses reported Fayola reached the top of the cathedral’s steps when the State Counsellor’s limousine’s engine started and a massive explosion ripped through Independence Square.

State Counsellor Danladi Obasey, Mayor Busheer Sinaceur, Obasey’s three bodyguards and the limousine driver were all killed instantly by the bomb that had denoted beneath the vehicle. Six others, civilians who names have not been released, who were near the limousine with it exploded were killed as well or died of injured soon after. The massive explosion sent a shock wave through the square, smashing windows in a one mile radius and throwing people as far as ten meters. Hundreds were sent crashing into each other, or into the hard stone of the church steps and walls. Fayola Obasey was thrown “as if like a rag doll” through the doors of the church inside along with dozens of others who crashed through newly broken windows. These however proved to be the lucky ones as seconds later hit pieces of glass, metal and uprooted asphalt came hurtling back down, striking people.

Over two hundred people have been confirmed to have been seriously injured by the blast without countless more suffering from non-critical injuries. The horror has not stopped as the Bendas City Hospitak has become overwhelmed by the extraordinary number of patients, putting dozens of more lives in danger. As the wails of the injured and grieving was heard throughout Old Bendas, an even more ominous sound was heard over radios nationwide: the voice of Zarif Al-Aziz.

Zarif Al-Aziz, along with his nephew Dulamah Al-Aziz, second son of General Al-Aziz, have claimed responsibility for the carbombing that killed State Counsellor Obasey. Hijacking the National radio system, Zarif announced the formation of the Lajaz Freedom Fighters, (LFF) who seek to reorganize Turanda in a more free world and liberated the oppressed and neglected Lajaz people of Turanda. The LFF have demanded immediate release of General Al-Aziz and handing over of the reigns of power to them. Should their demands not be met, Zarif Al-Aziz has promised to escalate the attacks till the government of Danladi Obasey is nothing bust dust in the wind. With this passionate speech still ringing through the ears of the people, and the future without Obasey unclear, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Turandan Republic.

Lajastinean Embassy grants Turandan refugee Asylum!

Image
The Lajastinean Embassy in Bendas, Turanda opened its gates for Dulamah Al-Aziz

30 April 2132

Counselor Amazuz Hamid, head of the Lajastinean embassy recently arrived in Bendas, welcomed a distraught Dulamah Al-Aziz, son of the recently unjustly imprisoned General Abderrahman Al-Aziz, and implicated member of the Lajaz Freedom Fighters, a minority group claiming responsibility for the death of State Counsellor Danladi Obasey three days ago.

Counselor Hamid greeted Al-Aziz following a dramatic car chase and shoot out as local Bendas police attempted to prevent Al-Aziz from arriving at the embassy. Despite there best efforts, the Lajastinean gates were opened and Al-Aziz, though injured by billet wound to the leg and shoulder, was able to enter into the embassy were he was immediately granted asylum.

Although Al-Azizi has been implicated in the bombing that killed 13 and injured 200, Counselor Hamid and the Sultanate has held firm to their decision of asylum. Hamid a few hours later released a statement explaining that while Lajastine does not approve of Al-Aziz’s actions, the actions of the Obasey Administration which lead to unjust arrests is alarming.

Hamid assured the public that Lajastine would hope to see Al-Aziz given a fair and free trial and at the moment that is impossible in Turanda. His release into Turandan, said Hamid, would be a death sentence, one conducted without the rights of man or openness of a trial. Hamid has called for Al-Aziz to be allow transport to Lajastine to face a neutral trial there.

Bendas Police Department Besieges Lajastinean Embassy!

May 1, 2132

The Lajastinean Embassy has been put under siege by the Bendas Police Department under the order of acting Mayor Youssef Zahad, the deputy municipal officials who has succeeded the late Mayor Sinaceur. The Lajastinean Embassy has chosen to play host to Dulamah Al-Aziz, son of General Abderrahman Al-Aziz and nephew of founder of the terrorist organization, the Lajaz Freedom Fighters (LFF), and one of the assassins behind the Independence Square Bombing four days ago that killed thirteen people and injured over two hundred people. Dulamah Al-Aziz was pursued until he reached sanctuary at the embassy of Turanda’s neighbor, but Acting Mayor Zahad has refused to give up.

Heavily armed police officers have been stationed around the embassy, demanding the release of Dulamah Al-Axiz into their custody in order for him to face justice for his acts of terrorism. The sight of police officers have become extremely common, mixed in with that if the National Guard as soldiers move into the capital after Zahad declared martial law over the city following the bombing. The death of State Counsellor Obasey and Mayoe Sinaceur has raddled the entire country. As the National government, stripped to the barest of bones by Obasey who took on so many responsibilities for himself, struggled to find a replace, Zahad has taken lead in Bendas.

It remains unknown how long the siege may last

The Great Reforms!

27 May 2132
Gaosa, the Celestial Empire

For months people have watched and waited to see how the Duke of Alençon would proceed as the new prime minister and for months the world was met with only silence as the prime minister retreated behind the doors of the still under construction Ijuru Ingoro, the Palace of the Sovereign in Gaosa. Now the Prime Minister, with the seal of the Celestial Emperor released his plans for the future of Derita. Their radical and at some times outrageous nature has dubbed them The Great Reforms.

The Great Reforms are a series of modernization and reformist policies and plans dedicated to the revival, strengthening and progress of Deritain agriculture, industry, defense, and science & technology. The Great Reforms even address the form and shape of the imperial government, it’s sub-national administrations and the entire institution of the nobility and landowner ship in the Celestial Empire. This challenge to the very structure of the social order has instantly made the policies controversial.

Most divisive is the official abolition of all landed nobility, with the revoking of titles, honors and privileges of all nobles who are not descendants of the first Emperor of Derita. This includes the seizure of land tied to form noble titles by the central government to be handed over to the common people. This has sparked panic amongst the now former nobility Ed as they rush to either hold on to their assets for flee with them a la the Hollandes. The strangle hold that the nobility has had on land for centuries thus seems to finally be broken.

Other policies of reform include: Division of land into people’s communes, where citizens will be able to exercise formal control of their land as long as they sell a contracted portion of their crops to the government. Households will be held responsible for the profits and losses of an enterprise. In agricultural production, farmers as a relatively independent economic entity will contract the collective land and other large-scale means of production and carry out production and management independently according to the contract.

Except for a small part of its operating income, which is to be paid to the collective and imperial national taxes following the contract, all income is attributed to farmers. A new dual-price system is to be introduced, in which state-owned industries will be allowed to sell any production above the plan quota, and commodities were sold at both plan and market prices. These extreme measures are likely to completely disrupt the Deritain economic system, adopting a decidedly more mixed socialist-capitalistic nature, a market far more competitive than before.

The Great Reforms do not stop with administrative zones, but with the very top of the central government, with the Emperor alone being untouched by change, maintaining executive power along with a host of absolutist privileges, however the Parlément has been abolished, replaced by the Inama of the Celestial Empire. The Inama, headed by the Prime Minister serves as the council of various ministries. It noted that there is no reform for the creation of a legislature, like a compromise against the prime minister.

A less controversial policy is the state wide implementation of a Imperial Civil Examination, a strenuous mental, scholarly, intellectual, social and psychological examination to allow only the creme de la creme into civil service. This comes along with the requirement of tertiary education for all citizens of the empire, with the government footing the bill. Among the other education reforms is the requirement of bilingualism in both Deritain and another of the empire’s many local languages.

While the Great Reforms allow great social and economic growth for the average citizen, it continued the long Deritain trend of leaving the vast majority of the country out of the actual governance of the autocratic empire, leaving those who wish to try the democratic experiment to move into the dense Aukusa Bay Area. Meanwhile other special administrative regions continue to provide more and more opportunities for manufacturing, industry and financial advancement resulting in medium scale internal migration. While not perfect Great Reforms certainly are radical.

Crown Prince to attend Ezikwizalo University!

1 June 2132
Gaosa, the Celestial Empire

As the Celestial Empire prepares for the Coronation of Emperor Andeja III, more and more have started to turn towards his family and his son, Crown Prince Andeja. The eldest child, only son and heir apparent of the emperor is a phenomenon not seen in three quarters of a century. The crown prince, who turned eighteen this past March, is the first child heir apparent since his own great-grandfather, Andeja I in 2056.

With the future of the Celestial Empire resting on the young man’s shoulders, his education has become a thing of great importance, with everyone agreeing that he must be educated by only the best scholars. The Crown Prince has thus far proven himself to be dutiful to his studies, being one of the first participants in the new Imperial Examination and acing his test. The crown prince, during the reign of his great-grandfather and grandfather was educated by private tutors.

The Crown Prince however will be attending Ezikwizalo University, a school that has while found only earlier this year, has already been touted as prestigious due to its campus being the former Palace of Ezikwizalo, and by its first year students, the headliner of course being Crown Prince Andeja. This imperial attendance has sparked a rush of other notables to attend in the upcoming semester as well, including Lord Jean Yoyo, Cecile Dupuy, Louise de Hollande and Keoni Rohan.

With the abolishment of the lesser nobility, many families are lining up for a chance for a child to be a classmate of the Crown Prince. Critics however question if Ezikwizalo University is using the attendance of the heir to the empire to bolster its own reputation. If so, it appears to be working. The Crown Prince is expect to keep a small security team, but has expressed a wish to go about his academic studies un-pursued by the media.

Turanda legalizes Same-Sex Marriage!

June 4, 2132

The Turandan legislation of LGBTQ+ Freedom of Marriage was signed by State Counsellor Fayola Obasey. The legislation received final approval Tuesday in the upper house. It was approved by the lower house of The Assembly at the end of last month.

The government had originally proposed allowing only civil unions for same-sex couples - something that LGBT rights groups and constitutional law experts said created a "separate but equal" status that would be challenged in the Constitutional Court. A provision in the new law that allows both civil registrants and churches to refuse to perform same-sex marriage continues to rankle gay groups but overall reaction has been favorable.

A National court panel, headed by Olateunji Babatunde, recently appointed by the State Counsellor ruled that denying same-sex couples the rights of marriage was unconstitutional. It said that if the legislative branch fails to act by the December deadline the the law automatically be changed to include same-sex unions. But, it gave no specific direction on how the law should be changed.

This resulted in directory lead assembly in which the State Counsellor of Turanda all but dictated the course of the meeting and leading to a speedy legalization. This legalization however remains standing the shadow of the continued siege of the Lajastinean Embassy.

The Sultan denounces the Turandan Government!

6 June 2132

Sultan Amessan II of Lajastine, the monarch and head of state of Lajastine, known for his appreciation of education and dislike of conflict, raised many heads as he officially issued a condemnation of the Turandan Government, headed by Fayola Obasey, calling it a “pit of vipers, seeking to snap at all who trend by”. The Sultan, who rarely makes such public and official statements, has taken such a hard line on the matter after weeks of the Lajastinean Embassy being under siege. Some have speculated that the timing, so soon on the Turandan legislation on same-sex marriage, might be a condemnation of the act, leading to protests in Laja.

State Counsellor Obasey cuts diplomatic ties with Lajastine!

June 7, 2132

The sound of gunfire filled the sealed square around the Lajastinean Embassy as the Turandan Special Regiment (TSR) launched a brave and daring assault on the besieged chancery which had been cut from electricity, power and communications. The task force propelled along the side of the embassy building before using explosives to break through windows and walls.

The TSR then entered the chancery, subduing the Lajastinean Embassy Guards and commencing a search for the terrorist, Dulamah Al-Aziz, member of rebel and terrorist organization the Lajaz Freedom Fighters. When Dulamah as captured, he was pulled out by the TSR and taken out of the chancery into the custody of the Turandan police force.

The assault on the Lajastinean Embassy took place after State Counsellor Fayola Obasey, after deliberation with her advisors, cut off diplomatic relations with Lajastine, effectively revoking the diplomatic protection of the embassy.

National Assembly Founds National Oceanographic Organization, Oceanic Surveys Already Scheduled

Image
CNS Kalais, Former Auxiliary Ship set aside for NOO Operations, Preparing for Off-Shore Operations.

In a surprising, and innovative move, the National Assembly came to vote on a novel idea, a federal organization for exploration of the ocean and the ocean floor. The vote was near unanimous, with 325 yes, and only 5 no, with many citing the potential for new biological resources and even possibly the discovery of lost historical artifacts buried just off shore. The National Assembly has set aside a large budget of 250 million, as well as a old Auxiliary ship which had been a former merchant vessel, and was now reaching the end of its lifespans as a naval fleet tender. This old war ship will now find new life as a peaceful exploration vessel, and will be outfitted with new submersibles and other equipment to facilitate its new mission. The new organization, named the National Oceanographic Organization, has already begun making plans to begin operations around Vizerman Island, with plans to map the ocean floor in the area. The vessel has been described as a temporary measure, until a more advanced, purpose built vessel can be constructed for the task. Temporary or not, the vessel is the first of its kind to be officially operated by a government organization, with previous examples having been privately owned ventures.

Protests break out across western Lajastine

9 June 2132

Protests choked Laja, the capital city, this morning as thousands took to the street in protest of a myriad of issues, but all focusing their anger against the government. The first of protests that seemed to arrive in the capital in droves, mainly comprised of the coastal city dwellers were protests by the LGBTQ+ community after the Sultan’s condemnation of Turanda was read by many as also a condemnation of their recent legalizing of same-sex marriage. This seemingly homophobic stance has angered many in Lajastine, where while homosexuality has never been criminalized, it has never been protected, and same-sex couples that do exist face discrimination and lack the same rights as heterosexual ones.

This protest marks the first time in Lajastinean history that such a massive protest on a social issue has ever been conducted, while also being the first time sexual orientation has been discussed on a national level. The protesters, in large part young people, marched with posters saying such slogans as ‘Gay is Good’ and ‘Hearts are in the Home’ the latter referring to the view that the government has no business taking such a stance on what many see to be a private matter. The marching quickly was met by counter-protests, who accused the “homosexual community” to be “serpents sent from Turanda”.

But the right to protest was used not only by the LGBTQ+ but also by arms workers, brokers, farmers, defense lobbyists and city tour guides who protested the cutting off of trade with Colfico, one of Lajastine important trading partners after Caraintos. They also protested the government’s actions having caused countries like Colfico and Genes to restrict travel to Lajastine in the heart of the tourism season, slashing the profit margins for many who work in that sector. Hotel bookings are expected to drop by a third as foreign tourists, either fearful of the growing tensions between Turanda and Lajastine or by the protests over government policy, have taken flight.

The loss of such funds which are vital to coastal cities, particular Laja, has sparking chaos as the Laja Stock Market has been in seemingly a free fall over the last 24 hours. The Naasmajism has been assembled in an emergency meeting to help deal with the crisis. The Naasmajism ordered the closure of the stock market, temporarily halting the free fall, but also preventing it from climbing back up again. Meanwhile Sultan Amessan II, seen to taken a great misstep in his statement three days ago has retreated behind the walls of the palace, and has fallen silent, seemingly refusing to speak to either the legislative or the public.

In this vacuum, the Sultan’s brother, Prince Angemar has risen, standing in opposition of the protestors and the Turandan government. Prince Angemar, grandfather of Crown Princess Taja of Caraintos, has made a name for himself with his extravagant traditional clothing and conservative views, on full display here as he called for police to put down the protests, and for war to be declared against Turanda, calling for an invasion to dislodge the “great threat to international stability” that is State Counsellor Fayola Obasey. Reportedly in Northern and eastern parts of Lajestine there have been instances of police arresting those who spoke in favor of the ongoing protests.

Wedding of Marie Godey and Prince Louis of Great Hyruke

Princess Marie’s train was carried by the sons of the Duchess of Carlowe

10 June 2132
Colfico City, Colfico

The young Colficoan Monarchy celebrated a lovely, but subdued occasion as Marie Godey, younger sister and heir presumptive of Queen Adriana married Prince Louis Albert of Great Hyruke. Supporters have called the affair a long awaited fairytale, whilst critics have dubbed the entire affair a foreign farce.

Princess Marie, originally Lady Marie Godey served as a lady-in-waiting for Princess Alara of Derita and accompanied her to Londres in 2130, where she first met Prince Louis, who at the time was courting Princess Mamela of Derita. However, Marie, charismatic and a lover of sports and horse riding quickly caught the second son of King Arthur of Great Hyruke’s eye.

The two began dating shortly after the marriage of Princess Alara to Prince Charles of Great Hyruke. Reportedly there was opposition to the match as Marie was considered of too low of rank to marry a prince, but after a discussion between the couple and the King and Queen of Great Hyruke, it was agreed that the couple would be married.

A few months later, Marie’s older sister, former lady-in-waiting to Princess Amélie, Duchess of Hyrea, was elected Queen of Colfico and at her coronation, the new young queen declared her siblings Princes/ses of Colfico, appointing Marie as her heir presumptive. With this raise in status, the wedding between Marie and Louis was delayed as the venue moved from Londres to Colfico City.

The wedding, attended by 500 guests, took place at a Protestant chapel. The cost was graciously footed by the King and Queen of Great Hyruke, noting that the the Godey Family remains, for royals, impoverished. It also marked yet another step in the improving relationship between Colfico and Great Hyruke facilitated by Queen Adriana.

Attends included Queen Adriana, escorted by Chamberlain Felix Skotnicki and attended by Amayah Henderson; the King and Queen of Great Hyruke, Prince Charles of Great Hyruke and Duchess of Rossendale; the Duchess of Hyrea and Prince Loris of Connuriste, Prime Minister Wes of Colfico and Prime Minister Alençon of Derita. This event marked the first reunion between the sisters, the Duchesses of Hyrea & Rossendale in over two years.

The ceremony was conducted in Hyrukian tradition, the Prince swearing loyalty to the bride, and joining her house in a matrilineal marriage while Marie wore a white dress, contrary to her ethnic roots. Her dress was bought from a Colficoan boutique, while the tiara she wore belonged to Prince Louis’ grandmother.

The event was filmed, scene on television screens across Derita, Colfico and Great Hyruke. As the event was projected into homes of millions, it for some garnished a since of pride and/or majesty, watching the lines of bejeweled aristocrats and royals. For others however it has rubbed them the wrong way at the archaic processions.

Critics have noted that while some Colficoans were in attendance, this affairs appeared to be conducted between Deritain immigrants, the Colficoan Royal Family, and Hyrukians. It has raised noticed that should Queen Adriana die without children, the young throne would fall into the hands of another foreign woman and a foreign man.

Some have questioned Queen Adriana’s seeming lack of interest in marriage, having not even entertained any suitors since ascending the throne, while others have praised her singleness as it represents a woman who does not need to rely on a husband, and others have claimed the Queen prefers women, or no one at all. If these statements have reached the Queen’s ears, she hasn’t deemed it necessary to respond.

Still, for some, the need for Queen Adriana to marry, and to marry a Colficoan man is one that should be pressed and pressed quickly. But that is for another day. For today we continue to celebrate wedding of Princess Marie and Prince Louis, who plan on embarking on their honeymoon back in Great Hyruke on one of it’s outlining islands.

National Assembly Founds National Veterans Society

It is no secret that Colficos history is one of war and suffering, with two major conflicts having occurred in recent history. As a result there is a large percentage of the Colficoan population who are or have been veterans of conflicts of the past. Until recently, those veterans who could not support themselves were simply left to their fate. However, it is clear that the National Assembly wishes to change that. Coming to vote jus tan hour ago, the National Assembly voted to a near unanimous agreement that something had to be done. That is where the National Veterans Society has been born, created to support and assist veterans, especially those crippled during their time in the armed forces, whom are homeless and without a source of income. This includes helping to find occupations that accept those whom have been injured in the past.

There are concerns that this system may be abused, however, it is clear that the overall majority opinion is that this is a very positive change, and a sign of the wheels turning within the National Assembly.

Crown Prince Davios killed in Car Crash!

It is with great sorrow that this publication must announce the sudden and untimely death of Crown Prince Davios of Caraintos following a fatal car accident in Northern Caraintos. The Crown Prince had been visiting his mother’s family estate in the north of the country on vacation, and was making his way back south through the mountainous region to rejoin his pregnant wife, Princess Tasa. While Davios was driving, he lost control of the vehicle on a mountainside road and went off the road and down a steep slope. The car turned over and the Crown Prince suffered a fatal head injury, killing the 25-year-old instantly.

King Jayse, Davios’ father, solemnly announced the untimely loss of his only son and heir with Queen Mereya, the crown prince’s mother, at his side. The Queen, long seen as the steeling force behind the throne, was seen to have tears in her eyes at the terrible announcement. Princess Tasa, the Lajastinean bride of the Crown Prince, who arrived to marry Davios just under a year ago, has not been seen. An aid of the Queen stated that the pregnant dowager is in seclusion for the safety of her unborn baby, who shall be heir to the throne. In a matter of hours, the palace has, it seemed turned into a fortress around the mother and her unborn child. However it has been left to question if Tasa has even been informed of her husband’s death.

Operation Defensive Sword!

Turanda and Occupied lands displayed in blue. Lajestine displayed on red.

July 20, 2132

Images have surfaced as Turandan soldiers were found marched through the streets of a village, Imaratian built Grey T-83 battle tanks rumbling down the square of the town. The catch, thus wasn’t a Turandan village, but a Lajastinean one. An invasion of Lajastine is under way.

Over the course of the Lajastinean Embassy Crisis it seems that State Counsellor Obasey was already prepared for what know seems like the inevitable. War with Lajestine. As soldiers and police prepared to break down the door into the embassy, the State Counsellor orderd thousands of soldiers along the northern Lajastinean border.

In relative secrecy in the sparsely populated lands of northern Turanda and eastern Lajestine, the invasion force of more than two thousand Turandan soldiers marched into the sultanate. The State Counsellor did not make an official announcement as the troops swept over grassland.

State Counsellor Obasey, with undeniable evidence of her forces cutting into Lajastinean land, only now has officially issued a declaration of war against Lajestine, stated in response to the Sultan’s declaration in June. The invasion has been called a preventive measure against Lajastinean aggression.

More news and updates as we have it.

National Colficoan Navy and National Colfocoan Navy Marine Corps ordered to Evacuate Colficoans and Other Foreign Nationals

The National Assembly, with a mind toward the safety of citizens currently located within both Lajastine and Turanda, has been watching the developing crisis in the east carefully. Now, with things having come to a boiling point, Prime Minister Wes has decided to act now. At 13:00 hours, the National Assemblg came to an emergency vote, and in a near unanimous agreement, authorized the deployment of military forces to ensure and facilitate the evacuation of all Colficoan and otherwise foreign nationals seeking to leave the country. The National Colficoan Navy is the first to respond, with the cruiser CNS Alexander and her task force being ordered to change course from their normal at sea patrol. The six ships, one cruiser, three destroyers, two destroyer escorts, and a submarine, have begun moving towards the coast of the sultanate, joined by two colficoan Auxiliary ships and three ocean liners pressed into service as transports. With them are the four hundred men of the Fifth Navy Marine Battalion, with orders to secure and defend evacuation points from aggression from either side, should it occur.

There is also reports that National Assembly officials are seeking an emergency agreement with other naval powers to assist in the evacuation, however those reports are yet to be confirmed. However, what is confirmed is that Chamberlain Skotnicki has received emergency authorization to act as Colficoan Embassador and Liason to both Turanda and the Sultanate, and even command of the evacuation effort alongside the admiral on site, with authority to take personal command should the situation become dire. With the region burning, one can only hope that the Navy can be successful in its operation.

Prince Amadeus leads Peacekeeping Mission in Conflict Riddled Region

22 July 2132
Genes, Genes

Queen Louise announced the launch of a protective mission and evacuation of Genoise and other foreign nationals and expats from Lajastine and Turanda as the kingdom’s neighbors go to war. The Queen expressed her great disappointment at the break down of diplomatic channels between the two nations. However her verbal support of Turanda throughout the Lajastinean Embassy Crisis in May and the assault launched by State Counsellor on the embassy has made Genoise support clear.

Prince Amadeus, son of the Queen has been appointed as Head of Genoise Mission in Lajastine-Turanda, the 44-year-old royal attended the Central Royal Military Academy in 2106, graduated in 2110, and served as an apprentice at the side of his famed militant uncle, the present Prime Minister of the Celestial Empire during his exile, and commanding the peacekeeping forces to swell unrest during his grandfather’s reign, and has served the nation dutifully.

The Genoise Mission in Lajastine-Turanda has made it clear that it shall protect citizens of foreign nations in the two countries, especially Genoise citizens, issuing a warning to those who may seek to harm them. The Genoise Mission is working in cooperation with the Colficoan Royal Navy under the command of Lord Felix Skotnicki. The cooperation while marking the first such activity between the two countries since the death of Queen Philippa of Colfico, has not warmed the waters, with Prince Amadeus asserting that Genes’ stance of cold neutrality on Colfico remains in effect, and only the seriousness of the crisis allows for this cooperation for the greater good.

Hyrea — A Little Derita?

1 August 2132
Ameliehall, Hyrea, Colfico

Colfico has been hailed or nailed against by critics and proponents alike as the haven for Deritain women. In the center of the country, Queen Adriana continues to reign, working closely with Chamberlain Skotnicki and Prime Minister Wes in order to modernize and redefine the commonwealth. The Queen and Prime Minister thus far seem to get along well, agreeing with the Colficoan National Assembly’s motions of unnecessary involvement in conflicts on the Northern Sea shores. Queen Adriana is set to attend a formal testing of new standardized weapons after receiving a invitation from Prime Minister Wes, continuing the polite mannerisms between the head of state and head of government.

But as focus continues on Queen Adriana in Colfico City, we want to turn our attention north to the mountainous Hyrea, where Duchess Amélie, the former Deritain Princess Imperial, governs. Amélie though caring for months old twin daughters, has not rested in turning her duchy into her own personal fief. In Hyrea, her husband, Prince Loris over sees the erection of a grand palace and court, while her mother, Empress Dowager Amélie de Hollande employs hundreds of servants, gardeners, shoppers and other staff of her seemingly ever growing entourage, while Princess Mamela holds fashionable salons on politics, philosophy, art and fashion.

Amélie herself has promoted the local militant culture that produced the likes of Sebastian Merrimack, increasing funding to the Hyrean police force, and local garrisons, promoting ducal pride. Amélie has raised Hyrean takes in order to build a vast planned series of highways and roads and rails in the region, as the neglect the region faced under Queen Philippa, has yet to be corrected by the Colficoan National Assembly, which has been portrayed in advertising as a far off bureaucratic nightmare that has no interest in the mountainous region. The Duchess has also thrown the gates of Hyrea open to immigration, specifically Deritain immigrants, largely former nobles escaping the harsh reformations of Gaosa.

An estimated 27,000 Deritains have moved to Hyrea over the last year, with almost ninety-percent settling around the construction site of Ameliehall. This as resulted in a rapid growth of the town, with new homes being put up virtually ever day as the area becomes a Deritain-majority enclave. A very vocal enclave, who, with bringing their fashions, values and philosophies to Hyrea, have begun frequenting the Princess’ salons and attending village and town call meetings in force under the organization of the Deritain Diaspora Committee Council. The DDCC has worked to provide jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities for all Deritain immigrants, who register shortly after arriving. The most common topic the DDCC brings to the table, however subtly, has been the movement of making Hyrea an autonomous region of Colfico, with even less direction from the central government.

Duchess Amélie, mirroring her southern counterpart in attending military exercises with both her ‘Hyrea Regional Security Force’, a paramilitary force that recruits exclusively in Hyrea, and the Hollande Highlanders, the Duchess’ private military headed by her uncle, the exiled Prince of Gante; has supported the idea of autonomy for Hyrea, stressing it remaining apart of the commonwealth, but have autonomous authority over its internal affairs.

National Assembly Grants Hyrea Special Autonomous Status

It has not been long since the calls for an autonomous Hyrea reached the halls of the National Assembly, that Prime Minister brought the National Assembly together to discuss and vote on the matter, displaying a sense of urgency on the matter. After a few hours of discussions and careful considerations. The first voting began at 7:00pm, and the results came in about an hour later. The region would be granted Special Autonomous Status, however, this would come with a few conditions, the main one that Hyrea would remain compliant with the Bills of Rights, and treat its citizens in accordance with those bills. In return the pseudo-state will be granted special privileges of self governance, and the right to maintain a state military of its own, with allowances put into place for joint training and sharing of equipment between Hyrea, and the National Colficoan Military.

The National Assembly has also voted yes on a full withdrawal of Colficoan military involvement in the Imaratian Civil War, however humanitarian aid, such as food and medical supplies shall continue to be delivered to the country.

These two decisions make it clear that the Prime Minister and National Assembly have no intention of sitting by and letting issues go unanswered.
