The Incorporated Football Federation cordially welcomes all 15 nations to Sarzonia for the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy.

As always, proceeds from ticket sales, concession and merchandise sales, advertising revenue, and donations will be donated to fund cancer research in the name of the late founding President of Sarzonia, Mike Sarzo. Sarzo lost his life to a particularly aggressive form of testicular cancer in 2006 on 1 December at 4:32 p.m. Sarzonian Standard Time. It is in his memory we, along with Starblaydia and Krytenia conceptualised and founded this tournament.

Unlike previous years, all four regions will take place in Sarzonia, with Sarzonia being considered the regional host in the Woodstock Region. Matches there will be played at the de facto national stadium, Dave Wilson Stadium, which seats 105,900. The other cities hosting the tournament will be Portland, Nicksia, and Wilmington, the so-called "Big Three-Plus One" of Sarzonia's cities.

The group draw will be done shortly. The tournament, as in years past, will be a knockout stage tournament where each match will have a winner. Therefore, we will use the knockout round feature of Vilita's mobile scorinator to sim the matches. The group draw shall be done via the customary drawing of lots [OOC: By using the random.org generator].

The pairings for the regional semifinals will be 1 v. 4, 2 v. 3, so in the case of the Woodstock Region, it will be Sarzonia v. Qasden and Avoros v. The Cordian Isles.

Following the posting of the group draw, matches will take place with the regional semifinals beginning on Tuesday, 14 September at 8 p.m. EDT (midnight UTC). The regional finals will take place on Thursday, 16 September at the same time. We'll have the MSMT semifinals on Saturday at the same time, and then the final and 3PPO will take place on the following Monday.

Woodstock Profile
Sarzonia's capital city features the Gray House, where current President Grant Haffner lives, The Manor, where Lieutenant President and former First Gentleman Brian Patrick lives, Parliament Hall where the Sarzonian Parliament convenes, and the John Paul Stevens Building, where Sarzonia's Supreme Judicial Court presides. Unlike many countries with bicameral legislatures including a Senate, Sarzonia's House of Delegates is actually the upper chambre. Delegates are elected for no more than three two-year terms; Senators may serve no more than two six-year terms; the President may serve no more than two four-year terms.

The city also includes various museums and the Max Yasgur Centre for the Performing Arts, which is a go-to concert venue in Sarzonia and has been since the country became independent. It features a subway system that's fast and efficient and runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Among the more popular areas of Woodstock are the Little Catherina district, which contains the largest concentration of Delaclav ex-pats within Sarzonia and some of the best baked goods Sarzonia has to offer. The Little Timiocato neighbourhood is also very popular with Pacitalian cuisine dominant in restaurants throughout the neighbourhood.

The sporting crown jewel of Sarzonia is the Dave Wilson Athletic Complex and Dave Wilson Stadium, the national stadium of Sarzonia, which seats 105,900. It will be the home of Group 1 matches.

Nicksia Profile
Sarzonia's largest city has long been the cultural capital of The Incorporated States and is the centre of the country's creative scene. The city takes its name from Fleetwood Mac singer and solo singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks. The city boasts a population of 14.6 million people with a large district named Rhiannon that boasts an array of coffee shops, cafes, and contains a historic section with replicas of cobblestone streets. A row of taverns and pubs lines one set of streets.

The historic district includes the site of the old Nicksia Stock Exchange, which closed down in the mid-2000s when the country's financial centre moved to Portland with the ascent of the Portland Iron Works among the world's leading military contractors. The building was used for a while as a location for satellite PIW offices until the Benatar Historical Society acquired the building with funding from Sarzonia's Division of Culture. It also includes the "southern Gray House" where late founding President Mike Sarzo once convalesced after being diagnosed with cancer.

Nicksia's sporting jewels are highlighted by Mike Sarzo Stadium, a retractable roof stadium with a natural grass pitch and a transparent retractable roof that allows sunlight in to provide nourishment for the grass. The stadium has a statue of founding Sarzonian President Mike Sarzo at the main entrance on Putnam Avenue. The stadium seats 77,910 and was recently renovated with solar panels and upgraded with the latest big screens, LED displays, and free Wifi access. The newly constructed Bank of Sarzonia Arena is in competition with the venerable Palestra in Woodstock for the status of home court for the Sarzonian national basketball team.

Visitors can attend the Naval History Museum near The Pier where people traveling between Sarzonia and Delaclava can also rent motor and sailboats for day trips between the two countries. Visitors can see the USS Constitution, the oldest commissioned warship still afloat and the only commissioned warship in the Incorporated Sarzonian Navy without the ISS prefix. The ISS Rampage, a light aircraft carrier from Sarzonia's earliest days is also among the ships on display. It is surrounded by the Old Port neighbourhood with a collection of rustic-looking taverns that also includes souvenir shops.

Aficionados of live music can get their fix at the Mabel Normand Centre for the Performing Arts five nights a week. Thursday nights are open mic nights where the house band allows any aspiring musicians to try out singing live. The Crystal Visions Palace offers free music lessons to anyone regardless of age or ability. Actors can play their trade in a supportive environment at the Sea of Love Thespian Centre.

Portland Profile
The home of the venerable Portland Iron Works, a defence contractor that originally sold naval ships, but became large enough to acquire the Wilmington Shipyard Corporation, which sold hospital ships and other logistics supplies, among other contractors. The city became the financial capital with the continued ascent of the PIW, and moved to the Portland Stock Exchange building, which is the centrepiece of the city's Finance District. Guided tours for countries friendly to Sarzonia are available for a fee. The Portland Iron Works building has a statue of its first CEO, Admiral Barbara Tucker in front of it. The street for the PIW campus is named Admiral Tucker Boulevard.

The city also has an Old Port area, featuring a large collection of boating for people who want to take boats out for fishing or for just being on the open water. Some of the country's prime seafood restaurants call the Old Port home. A highly advanced light rail shuttles people between Portland itself and the growing neighbouring city Corcorran, which was named after the Delaclav city that is the largest city near Sarzonia.

The city just finished construction on a brand new Iron Bowl to replace the venerable structure that once hosted Sarzonian football home matches. The building seats 70,165 for football and will be the home of Group 3 fixtures.

Wilmington Profile
The city that was once at the forefront of shipbuilding industry in Sarzonia on the strength of the Pasteur-class hospital ships that were its backbone, Wilmington has evolved into an eclectic city representing a wide variety of Sarzonian life. It's best known for its shipping and beachfront areas, along with hospitality that's second to few places within Sarzonia. Wilmington also is a major presence in Sarzonia's sporting history with it being among the "big four" of Sarzonian sports cities. Wilmington will host Group 4 fixtures at Shipyard Stadium, which seats 62,758.

Cultural Notes

Sarzonians are polite, but can be a little reserved and sometimes aloof when they meet strangers. However, once they get to know people, they can open up and let their guard down.

The currency in Sarzonia is the Sarzonian dollar. There is no $1 bill. The one dollar coin has a picture of founding President Mike Sarzo on the obverse.

For 13 long campaigns, the Qasden National Football Team has tried (and, for the most part, struggled) it's greatest strengths duking it out in the World Cup for a lick of fabled. multiversal glory. In 12 of those campaigns, the journey would stop short, be it in the qualifiers, the Cup of Harmony, or the WC Proper itself. It's a tough war to win, the World Cup, which is why a few moons ago, the association decided to put more focus on the Vans of tomorrow, buried deep within the national academy. Among these misfits would be the formation of the National Alternative Team, stylized as the "Rolf Squad" after it's aloof manager, Cavernite Gaston Rolf. The squad was a collection of unknown reserves, forgotten U21 prospects, and aging former NT players, bundled into one mess of a team fit for its kingpin. The team's task was tricky, but doable: to compete in and win the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy, a fast paced, high octane charity tournament held annually in Sarzonia. The contest is, essentially, a grandiose knockout tournament, with 16 competing nations playing in a single elimination bracket, each vying for their one and only excuse to label themselves "Champions"; maybe even brandish a star out of it, too! The Rolf Squad would first take on Hopal, a new face in the sports scene looking to make its rusty team a name for itself. Their dream (and absolutely not ours) would end up coming partially true, as the Suns stunned Qasden out in the Round of 16, 1-0, in Nicksia. The humility would continue for the BlueVans far after their elimination, of course, with every team exposed afterwards losing their next match (Hopal to TJUN-ia, TJUN-ia to HUElavia, HUElavia to Tequilo), meaning the pompous pride in declaring having lost to an eventual champion was far from a feasible option.

Immediately following the departure, Rolf, overwhelmed in a sense of shame and homesickness, abandoned the team and left Sarzonia without a trace, with the last known reports being vague images of him standing above the ruins of Crystalline Caverns. It was a strange exit, but fitting given the man's strange nature. While Gaston may be gone, the higher-ups of QAFA knew that, despite the clear needs for reorganization, the alternative team could be a magnate for developing Qasden's "B"-tier players for foreign markets and possible promotion to the big leagues. With the return of the MSMT in lieu, the renamed National Academy Team would be entered once again with the intention of victory. Or, at least, like a goal this time. The squad, consisting of faces familiar and un, will be led by a more favorable character in the QCU: Ryan Xandreas, former national team all-star and co-head of the academy's midfielder program. Can Xandreas bring back a knockoff team in stylish fashion? Or will old wounds reopen in the face of competition? This is the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy, and these are your Qasden BlueVans; a.k.a, the X-Squad.

Well howdy, stranger. You must be an awfully long way from home, if you're knocking on my door. There's a chair down the porch, can't miss it. Sit down while I tell you about a group of vigilantes and bandits that decided to represent our little homestead at the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy.

For a couple of decades now, the government has been nothing but a placeholder; a revolving door full of monkey suits and leather boots, each with a crooked smile and a falsetto promise to modernize a wild nation best left untamed. There's not really a source for patriotism here, never has been, never wanted to be. It's a living state of survival, where the cops and crooks of the world meet to square off, cowboy-style. Entertainment consisted explicitly of duals, girls, and whatever Cliff is doing down at the ol' Snake Oil Saloon. That was until the arrival of a traveler from a realm never once heard of (upstate Krytenia), which brought the attention of a new sport: football.

The sport, while gained traction upon its arrival, never did catch on too well here; but it did spur a number of boondoggle modified versions, focused on upping its value and efficiency within our corner of the world. That, my friend, is where gunball came to play. The ball was solid and, in order to move around the field legally, had to be shot by the guns of competing conmen. Suddenly, the sport became a dominant proponent in outlaw culture, with rivalling ne'er-do-wells using the game as an excuse to show off their arsenals and quickfire talent. Gunball was no longer a modification of football; football was seen as the violent-less version of the tried and true gunball. It became a taboo to want to play a round with feet rather than bullets, even more so with a hollow ball, but out of the request of a long forgotten ally, the goons and swoons of the Avorosian night assembled at once to prove to the realm outside our borders that Avoros truly is superior.

22 men would come forward for the task, led by the head honcho of the Water Tower Gang: Ed 'Hustler' McBride. It was a who's-who of the land's most nefarious gunball players, which I will coincidentally recite now.

It is unknown how good these crooks are on the field, but one this is for sure: they're gonna be doing a whole lot of running.

The Bledllyn Sports Institute (BSI) announced the call for the delivery of the State Award to the Sports Chronicler 2021, which will be open from September to October 2021, with the intention of recognizing journalistic works disseminated in the media, in the period from November 2020 to October of the current year.

According to the document, works published in the Hundredstarian news media will be awarded, whether in print, radio, television and/or digital, in the categories of chronicle, interview, photography, and audiovisual.

The general director of the Bledllyn Institute of Sport (BSI), Anton Birdley, announced that this is a recognition convened by the State Government through the Ministry of Education, through the Bledllyn Institute of Sports, and in coordination with the Bledllyn Association of Sports Journalist

He pointed out that the works will be received in digital and printed format and added that printed, digital, audiovisual and radio materials must have a technical sheet with the following data: category in which it participates, means of dissemination, date of publication, in addition to data personal names such as name (s), telephone, email, and address.

He added that the formats for the registration of the works are: PDF, JPG, MP3, and/or MP4, or place the link of the website where the work was published in its original version (as long as it is still online). The materials can be submitted by the authors, the media, institutions, or the general public.

He said that if a team project is a winner, only the names of authors registered in the technical sheet will be taken into account. There it should be indicated that it was done in a group. Each applicant may participate in a maximum of two categories, with only one job for each of them.

The jury will be made up of seven people of recognized prestige and experience in the field, four selected by BSI, and three by the Bledllyn Association of Sports Journalist. The session to review participants' proposals and resolve doubts about the evaluation criteria will be in October; While on November at 12:00 hours, the proposals will be evaluated and they must cast their vote in each of the categories. The winners will be announced on November 2021 in a press release. The award ceremony will be held on the 20th of that same month. It should be noted that there will be only one award, giving recognition and a financial reward per category.

Woodson becomes the backup while Paolo Gomes is recovering from a torn ACL. He has a decent mix of size and agility.

King plays as a defensive-oriented fullback, often marking the opposing team's top striker. He relies more on positioning and reading his opponent's tendencies and body language to figure out where to run than on speed. He's not exactly a burner.

The older brother of Marco Beningnati, Tommy plays a much more rugged style than Marco does. Can play sweeper in a three-back lineup.

Taylor's speed lends itself to being a fullback, but he plays halfback for the Browns. He has a tendency to struggle with more physical forwards and offensive midfielders.

The younger twin brother of Under 21 national team player Carlette Taylor, John plays a similar style to his sister's, although with much more speed.

In his first season as team captain of the Renegades, he led the team to a Sarzonian Football Confederation championship, resulting in the team's promotion to the Cyanea League. If he's on the pitch in the event Howard gets subbed for, he will don the captain's armband. He is a reserve halfback for the Stars.
22 Carmela Bowen, 30, 5-foot-8, 145 pounds, Woodstock Justice
Brown plays fullback for the Justice, a Sarzonian women's football team, and typically marks whomever the playmaking midfielder is. Her stamina earned her a spot on the national team.

Meyers won a lawsuit against the Portland Timbers third division affiliate when the team dismissed them after successfully proving the club released them due to their gender non-conforming status

A right wing player, he will sometimes be called upon to take free kicks if Reynolds is unable to for some reason.

Hennepin earned a starting role as a playmaking midfielder for WIlmington, but also played half a season in defensive midfield when the team was beset with injuries.

Aguirre is the creative forward on the squad with an ability to pinch hit as a playmaking midfielder in late-match situations in the event of defensive-minded substitutions.

Campos is a straight up target player in the front line. His leaping ability makes him a prime candidate for headers in the box off corner kicks and indirect free kicks. He played on the Junior Stars team that competed in the most recent AOCAF.
19 Holly Cambrio, 28, 5-foot-7, 145 pounds (Woodstock Justice)
Cambrio adds flair and ball movement skill and the ability to serve as a sparkplug off the bench, but would be a starter for a women's national team if that competition got resurrected.
41 Carly Wilcox, 22, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds (Woodstock Wild reserves)
Wilcox retained her place on the Wild's reserve squad and made eight appearances and six starts after her transition.

Most of the time when a team prepares for a tournament that takes place before the World Cup, they either play a second or third team or they might experiment with different lineups among their first choice team.

Not so for Nathan Hanifer and the Sarzonian national football team as they get set to kick off the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy at Dave Wilson Stadium in Woodstock. They will open with regional rivals Qasden in the prime time affair. The other match at Dave Wilson Stadium in the Woodstock Region semifinals pits Avoros against The Cordian Isles.

Hanifer said his decision to use his standard starting 11 against Qasden is by design.

"We need to build some chemistry before the World Cup," he said. However, he also added another motivator.

"We want to win this bloody tournament," he said. "Yes, I'm aware the winner of this is always going to be cancer research, but we also want to put our best foot forward, no pun intended."

Granted, this particular edition of the MSMT may be lacking some of the marquee names and familiar faces of the past. There's no Krytenia, no Starbladyia, no Delaclava, no Banija, no Cassadaigua. But for captain Clayton Wilson, he's not concerned with who isn't here.

"We still have Abanhfleft in this tournament. There's still Qasden, The Busoga Isles, among others. We want to get out there and play our best football for the fans and for cancer research and go from there."

Time was winding down in front of a packed house at Dave Wilson Stadium. All 105,900 seats were filled, almost entirely with Sarzonian national football team supporters in full voice.

Sarzonia took the unusual step of having all four forwards on the pitch at the same time as the aging Cayden Aguirre and the young Jake Campos were joined by the skillful Holly Cambrio and the young Carly Wilcox. Midfielder Clayton Wilson was joined by Ernie Mabree and the rest of the Sarzonian starting middies. Only Charlie King and Matt Taylor remained among the defence in what amounted to a 2-4-4 formation.

Nathan Hanifer made obvious what his intent was. He was pushing desperately for the equalising goal to force two 15-minute periods of extra time. Qasden were leading the match by a goal in the late stages, and only a Wilcox marker in the 82nd minute gave the Stars hope that they could somehow, some way, still advance out of the Woodstock Regional semifinals with the crowd trying to will the team to score that match-leveling goal.

Then THWACK. Cue the roar of an elated crowd. Campos swung his right leg and banged a shot into the upper third of the net beyond the dive of Qasden goalkeeper Gaunting Norwood. Only Wilson and Campos didn't react because they both looked to the right of the pitch and saw the offside flag held aloft by the Delaclav assistant referee. Cambrio had waited a fraction of a second too long to realise the Blue Vans defenders were employing an offside trap and she was mere millimetres in an offside position when Campos launched his strike. The roars of the crowd turned to lusty booing almost instantaneously, and Hanifer looked up at the crowd half expecting to plead with the angry navy-clad Sarzonia supporters to not throw things onto the pitch.

Finally, Norwood lined up the goal kick and launched it. The ball landed onto the forehead of King who tried to nudge the ball toward Wilson, who was essentially filling in as a defensive midfielder with all of Hanifer's substitutions going toward offence. Even Carlton Sandt, the Stars 'keeper had left the safety of his goal crease to pinch in on the attack. The Stars were essentially playing 11 men in the Qasden half of the pitch, although Sandt was standing near the midfield stripe ready to scramble back toward his goal in the event the Blue Vans were to regain possession and launch a counter attack. They never did, but it didn't matter. Norwood was up to the task on three Sarzonia shots on goal that launched in the interval between the start of the 85th minute of play and the fourth official's lifting of the electronic sign that signaled four minutes of stoppage time. Then the Stars launched two more bids on goal during that four minutes, plus an additional 23 seconds that ran off whilst Norwood was preparing to launch a final goal kick after a Wilcox bid just clanked off the woodwork above him and harmlessly bounced behind the net.

Right after Norwood put foot to ball and the ball soared into the Woodstock night sky, the referee blew his whistle with three loud blasts. Qasden escaped with a 2-1 victory where they would face The Cordian Isles after they won in the crisp afternoon in front of 89,382 at the same stadium. The Stars were eliminated from the tournament they hosted once again, and Hanifer was still left searching for answers and searching for a meaningful victory for his side. The Stars were still struggling to find their identity in a post-Brady Reynolds era. They were still trying to find the right spark without Mek'hi West providing an offensive threat off the bench. They were still searching for answers after they'd withdrawn prior to the start of World Cup 87 qualifying.

The search would continue. Who knows when the search would bring the answers the Stars hoped for. Or if.

Upping the Bounty

It's been an exhilarating few minutes of sports, hasn't it? Qasden, as a whole, pretty much fell on the wayside of the cosmic athletiverse for the past decade or twelve; yet, suddenly, the teams repping this Marlene-forsaken country are...improving? Grains of salt, mind you, but present grains of salt. Today, we're gonna be focusing on a single sport, unlike whatever mess happened over in Electrum's Olympiad. Football is the name of the game, and my lord, are we mediocre at it. For like 12 AOCAFs, the Vans found themselves in a repetitive hex of early knockout and hard group stage exits, with the only exceptions coming in AOCAFs 55 and 62; cinderella shotgun runs, in my opinion. As we speak, the national football team is struggling yet again, starting their (mind you) 13TH World Cup campaign at 1-0-2. The fact that Sylvia Zimari is still the manager over there is incredible, but I'm not getting paid to talk about the national team. Not the A-Squad, at least. Today, we're going Sarzonian: the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy-type of Sarzonian.

If you remember (applause if you do), the nation joined the previous edition of this charity tournament with a band of who'sthats and what'stheirfaces, led by the biggest mindduck of them all: former Cavernite mananger Gaston Rolf. Since the tournament is basically a fancier knockout, it's very easy to underestimate the contest's cutthroat nature, which we discovered last time following a disappointing defeat to Hopal Game 1, eliminating us on the spot. Rolf, as any normal person would, fled the country afterwards, now somewhere in Rushmore trying to find the Crystalline Caverns. His departure all but ensured the death of the newly formed "Blue Vans", the aforementioned mish mash of nobodies and formerly somebodies whose secondary moniker was named after him. Yet, somehow, QAFA decided that Qasden still needed a B-League team, and rather than use the funds for something else, instead reinvested and refurbished the crew into a much more glamourous organization. The National Academy Team, renamed from the National Alternative Team (A+ Creativity for both of these), was to be comprised of faces from the association's national football academy in T.V. City, only mentioned to the outside multiverse on the rare occasion that a Qad is looking to play domestically abroad. Returning to the MSMT would be, essentially, the entire Rolf Squad that wasn't part of the National Team at any point, combined with some newer faces on the international spectrum, particularly from the Olympics. There's a roster out there somewhere, because I don't feel like mentioning them right now; but the marquee figure of the whole operation would end up being their manager: Ryan Xandreas. In a former life, Xandy was one of the all-time leading goalscorers of the Qasden National Team, scoring an amount only ever registered as "a lot". Regardless, the man had hella clout, and when Zimari decided to ditch the OGs, Ryan decided to continue football as a director for the academy's midfielder program. This part of the plot isn't exactly MSMT-related anymore, so I'm just gonna reel it back in because I'm tired as balls. Long story short, the amount of peer pressure on the (now monikered) X-Squad was small, but still felt insurmountable. Despite many of the last tournament's prolific faces not showing up this time around, Qasden still managed to draw one of the more difficult ones to size up: Sarzonia.

It's tough to describe the exact relationship between Qasden and Sarzonia football-wise, excluding a semi-final matchup in AOCAF 62 and consistent participation in each other's independent tournaments. Despite being the host, the Stars have never managed to escape their region, losing in previous editions to Northwest Kalactin (regional final/quarters) and TJUN-ia (regional semi/octos), respectively. Both sides wanted to change things this tournament, especially a rebuilding home team that yearned to win the title of their very homeland. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a bit of tension left over from 62 as well, given the result was a shocking win in favor of the Vans. The winner of the match would get a slightly less intense regional final: facing off against one of two unranked teams who never touched a football before, thought we'll get to that later.

The match was arguably the highlight of the tournament's first round: a clash between two moderately ranked regional rivals whose result would dramatically shape how the rest of the contest would be viewed. Dave Wilson Stadium would be the playing field for this grudge match, and the venue was absolutely filled to the brim with fans who (most likely) didn't have to travel across Atlantian Oceania to get here. The atmosphere seethed in an immaculate cacophony of battle cries and weary eyes, booming from all aspects of the navy-ridden house. It was pretty clear how badly Sarzonians wanted this win....shame.

As you can expect, very few people at QADAN are actually compelled to give full reports of the matches themselves, rather than the lead ups and aftermaths. I am not one of those people, but I will mention the basics of it.

The Blue Vans, ironically sporting their less blue alternate kit, made a shockingly overt lead in the first half, garnering 2 goals straight away through the likes of Omobolanle Van Aalsburg (29') and Roman Nakamura (44'). We've been in this position and lost before, several times actually, but something odd about the match was the peak performance coming from our personal man of the match: Captain Gaunting Norwood. Previously, Norwood had merely been a reserve on the Rolf Squad, only needed if both NT keeper Chalice Callaghan and sub Maalik Bandoni were out of commission. The man hasn't played outside the academy, yet in his debut match, Gaunting quickly made headlines as the star-studded denier of nets Qasden has fantasized of since the days of Macron Abbott. In total, Norwood allowed but a single late goal out of Sarzonia's Carly Wilcox (82'), but aside from a later offsides shot, nothing went past Gaunting. The most notable of this discourse were the closing minutes of the match, from 85 to the final whistle, when the Stars went on an all-out attack in a last ditch effort to equalize the game, included an astonishing 5 shots on goal, all blocked by Norwood. Even with every navy-spangled player on our side of the pitch, it would end up being in vain against the inevitable shock of an opener.

2-1 would be the final score of the match, marking the Blue Vans' first official victory as an associate branch of QAFA. The accomplishment is further embiggened given the difficulty of their opponent, a no-holds-barred Sarzonian dynamo that fought tooth and nail to the very end. Indeed, Xandreas and the X Squad quickly found themselves as the unofficial "villain team" of the tournament, slaying the much more favored hosts, but that title only seems to bolster the appraisals of the team from within it and back at home in TVC. Having been promoted to the regional final in Woodstock, Qasden is now one step closer to brandishing that title they ever so desire, doubly so in the name of charity.

Now for the juicy bit: the bracket! With Sarzonia out, Qasden's next foe would be that of the Cordian Isles: an archipelago in the South Pacific who debuted in the sport for the first time ever later that night at Dave Wilson, soundly defeating another newbie, cowboy-riddled Avoros, 4-1 in front of an indifferent crowd. Given the previous formats of the tournament have been similar, it's fair to expect that whoever wins between Qasden and Cordia would take on the champion of the Wilmington region, the title, of which, is being contested between HUElavia and Brookstation. The former defeated an energetic-looking Hundredstar in similar fashion to ours, while the latter took Hopal to penalty kicks before outlasting the Suns, 5-4. While unknown where this match will be held, it can be assured to be an epic clash to the end, particularly if it involves the surprisingly lengthy sporting history between Qasden and HUElavia. On the other side of the bracket stands the regions of Portland and Nicksia, who also had their own surprises. Namely, the highest ranked team in the tournament, the Busoga Islands, found themselves drastically humbled by an upbeat Jovannic squad, who'll go on to face Melbergia in the Portland final. Nicksia, on the other hand, would see the return of another tourney power, Abanhfleft, whose quick work of Magnecia set the stage for a poster war against newcomer, Oakwood Landing, in the final. It seems completely chaotic already, yet, somehow, we're only just scratching the top of it.

Can the Blue Vans continue their newly discovered potential into the tournament semis? Will the Cordian Isles prove to the multiverse the true power it has as a new blood?
