You see confederate flags in rural Minnesota as well, and 99.9% are not from the South and have no family lineage from the south either.

Edit: Or all the idiots with their flags from their vehicles

I've got quite a few of them in my little town too, and this is the land of Lincoln and Grant for fuck's sake.

I’ve seen them in my small town in New York along with Trump flags and bumper stickers.

I love most of my coworkers. That's why I still work there despite it being retail hell. But once I'm in a little more stable situation (like driving), I'm looking for a new job. Literally I feel the "Lowe's family" at my work overall, otherwise I would have left a long while ago.

Edit: Most customers are fine, too, but that's not really something that can be helped, besides me wanting a job that involves not working with customers at all.

No such place exists anywhere in the world. You're always going to have people you despise and end up having to work with or serve.

I think it isn’t heritage for 98-99% of the time when one sees confederate flags north of the Mason Dixon line

Death is the punishment for any disobedience. Even “Civil” penalties. They fine you, you refuse to pay, they arrest you, you resist, and they kill you.

There should be no laws that aren’t worth someone dying for.

That’s a heck of a narrow limit on laws, and a rather unique take on policing (considering that there is in fact a living prison population).

Its funny they think I hate all my coworkers simply because I'm pointing out a chunk of them suck. Even some of the unvaccinated ones I like as people, just not their poor choices. Its unfortunate they've been brainwashed the way they have.

Well yeah, I'm not saying it wasn't. But it's expanded beyond the South and lost its original Southern identity. Even gone international in some cases. So many people see that flag and don't even think about the Confederacy or the American South. They just see white supremacy.

Shame they don’t let ya stack the discounts or I’d totally work for Lowe’s. Though the best employee discount was Bass Pro Shops, 45% off

Apparently then, the vast majority of criminals don’t sufficiently resist, and your statement (that death is the punishment for any disobedience) is rather false - unless you propose the government is successfully hiding somewhere between hundreds of thousands to millions of crime-related deaths annually.

The problem is that is an oversimplification. Were there white supremacists in power, absolutely. Did that represent most Confederates? Probably not, else the Civilized Tribes of Amerind, and a majority of Hispanics and Latinos would not have fought on the side of the Rebels against the Union. I suspect the answer is somewhere in between Slavery, Northern Aggression, Oppressive, Taxation, White Supremacy, Abolition & Brotherhood of All Man, and the 2nd Great Awakening.

Not necessarily true, the "Civilised Tribes" actually had quite a few slave owners amongst them. Among the Cherokee alone, there were 3,200 slaves at the time of removal that went with them to Oklahoma, and the number just grew from there.

The reason the "Civilized Tribes" fought for the Confederacy was in large part because they were tired of the Union/USA breaking deals. And in some part because of the slaves they owned.

And also, I never got the "Northern aggression" argument. The Confederacy literally started it by seceding and then demanding and shelling Fort Sumter, not to mention all the other raids on federal installations that went unchallenged by the Union before.

It doesn’t need to make sense, it was blame shifting by racists (and so on) to avoid the fact that they were ultimately fighting to preserve slavery.
