OOC THREAD HERE | HOST BID |
PLAYLIST

(A small story plays before we go to the National Stadium. A narrator talks away through the speakers so everyone in NatStad can hear.)

It was a thunderstorm. A wooden ship, big enough to contain 5 families. Those families were rejected away from their communities just for reasons that shouldn't. Whether it's love, understanding, and many more. A mother tried to calm a crying baby on board, the adult men outside trying to give their all, praying that there's a home that they can cherish.

And then... A big wave flew over the ship... and hits them right at the spot. Is it over?

No. The ship is not destroyed, the people there are okay, IT'S A MIRACLE! As morning comes, someone dares enough to go outside, and when he looked far, his smile spreads, and he shouted... "ALI'I'CHA'AI!"

Everyone was ecstatic! This is a new land since they can't see anyone here! They set sail to land themselves on the new land. They arrived. They looked around. They built their homes next to the sea, and with a laugh of the baby from happiness that got spread to the entire crew, Alezia was born. A new hope was born. And it just happened that it looked like a diamond (just like the logo!) And now,

ALEZIA IS READY TO BRING THAT HAPPINESS TO THE WORLD!

(After that short introduction of Alezian history, the movie moves to show what the Alezians has went through, the Buginese arrival with a native Alezian shouting "ATTHO'I! AGA KAREBA!" (Alezian for Hello added with Buginese for How Are You), the Sultanate of Zafizamarrah with more ships arriving to Alezia, the British Era with the Alezians learning administration and machinery, the Iliyan Dictatorship where Alezians fought against the government to be free and to be who they are...

And finally, reunification. Four people hold eachother's hands in front of other people celebrating, and suddenly four big diamonds flew over them towards the sky, joining the other diamonds from history, finally assembling...)

(Before the scene moves to the National Stadium, a flashback scene of the previous winner's reprise was shown, where ABA borrowed Anyme's previous postcard to show.) special thanks to Nek for allowing me to use his winning entry)

"NEKONI, YOU SCORE ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN POINTS! YOU ARE THE WINNERS OF THE NINETY-SECOND WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST!"

They jumped out of their seats, one arm raised in the air, the other still grabbing each other tightly. They let out a victorious roar and once again embraced each other, hugging tightly. Miro let out a solitary tear on Lana's shoulder, out of both jubaliation and the love for his sister. They had done it. After so long, so many tries, so many nights ending in disappointment, out of the darkness, Nekoni had won, with one hell of a lead to boot. They celebrated in their own little green room area, with Miro cracking open one of the bottles of beer on the table with the ornament on his belt buckle, long enough for one of the studio runners dressed in black to appear, tapping them on the shoulder to say "You gotta get on the stage now!"

In the flashback, The band seems to be heading off stage to prepare for their reprisal as Hëntryëtta signed off to the camera, waiting for the line Miro had been waiting for, perhaps for his entire life: "And now, I am proud to present, your winner of the WorldVision Song Contest 92..NEKONI!!"

Tired of having my back against the wall
I will come back stronger than ever before
I'm too proud to stay knocked down on the floor
Come and get me, I'm not scared any more

Put your gloves up now, I'll take you all on again
Let me show you how, I'll run with the wolves again

'Cause I got this, I'm a champion
In the making, and I'll thank you
To get away from my desires
'Cause tonight I'm catching fire

I will rise, 'cause I am the riot
And I am defiant

I am defiant

I got nothing to lose now, I won't back down
Now I've shown you my power
Would you dare stop me now?

I've goddamn had enough
I'm sick of getting knocked down and taking the loss
When the next L is, maybe you keep it
Because I will win, I don't care what it costs no more
I've been and done it all, every broken bone
Every drop of blood, sweat and tears that I lost
That makes me who I am, I've come back strong again
And I know the day I'll stop fighting's my last

Put your gloves up now, I'll take you all on again
Let me show you how, I'll run with the wolves again

'Cause I got this, I'm a champion
In the making, and I'll thank you
To get away from my desires
'Cause tonight I'm catching fire

I will rise, 'cause I am the riot
And I am defiant

AND WE ARE DEFIANT!

The crowd goes wild, one last time, and the band jump down from their podia, and embrace the two at the front, the five all jumping with the audience roaring with them. They let out one last "THANK YOU, WORLD!", and the show, at a fantastic climax, fades to black, preparing for the next segment of the opening.

(As the scene changes to show various scenes of Zafizamarrah, flags of various countries waving, people walking around Government Way, the parliament in action about hosting the Worldvision Song Contest, skyscrapers lighting up in participating countries' colour, and then the tour stops at the National Stadium, the venue of the contest.

The scene finally moves into the interior of the National Stadium, which is filled with spectators who are waving flags of various countries and glowsticks and banners.)

1.
"Things You Should Know"
Performed by
Teddy Behr

Image

TEDDY BEHR

Teddy Behr is orginally from the small rural town of Wilburforce, which lies beyond the outskirts of the suburbs of Norfolk Pinewoods.  It is a pleasant town filled with pleasant people.  But now, Teddy lives in the capital.

Teddy, you might recall, performed his song "The Spell" at the 88th Edition of WorldVision held in Flavezztowland City in glorious Rhim Flavezztowland.  Teddy was a bundle of vapid, if not unattractive, energy in his performance and he stompy danced his way into the hearts of many finishing 7th. All this followed his successful participation at the second Beepeean Song Festival - "A Song for Beepee", where he performed his first three songs of his eponymous EP.

His original EP has now been certified Gold in Beepee.  "The Spell" featured in the Topplist Top 10 reaching number 6 in the charts.

Since his perofrmance in Flavezztowland City, Teddy has been a busy little beaver.  He has been performing live gigs around Beepee and appearing on many television shows as well as writing new music.

Teddy's also been building his online presence.  He's recently signed up to the Kalosian social media platform, Instëgrëm  where he posts motivational messages, shirtless selfies and images of homemade cocktails.  Teddy had already gathered 69 thirsty followers.

Indeed, Teddy had developed quite the reputation as a playboy or himbo.  He appeared on the most recent series of hit Beepeean reality show - Love Bi-land; where young, attractive, singles look for love in a romantic seaside villa.

Image

Unfortunately, Teddy didn't find love on the show, although he had come close with  farmhand Luke. But loves loss is our gain as once again Teddy is back looking for another shot at fame with his new single "Things You Should Know".

Inspired by his time on Love Bi-land, the song speaks of a man who has lost what he thought was the love of his life.  Waking up the next morning he finds the world didn't stop for his broken heart, and he realises that it couldn't have been true love.

2014

The summer of 2014 was hot and humid in Wilburforce.  As the sun rose in the cloudless sky, the rays warmed up his father's house in such a way that the wooden beams yawned and cricked as if stretching themselves awake to greet the new day.   Teddy lay in his bed, barely covered by a sheet soaked in sweat from the uncomfortable heat of the night before.

He could hear his father, Chaney, downstairs, pottering about, clanging pots and pans. 'He's either making breakfast or experimenting again', Teddy thought as he pulled his pillow over his head.  However, it was no use, he was already awake.  Teddy pulled himself out of the bed and slipped on a t-shirt and some underwear, and headed downstairs.

"Mornin' sleepyhead", Chaney chuckled

"Morning father", Teddy replied as he flopped onto a kitchen chair.

Chaney walked over and placed down a stack of blueberry pancakes.  Each blueberry arranged precisely to make a smileyface pattern.  "Happy Birthday son".

It was.  There wasn't much excitement for his 21st Birthday.  Even though he was now considered an adult, Teddy didn't really feel mature, he just wanted to play his music.

Teddy ate his pancakes, dressed and headed on his daily trek to the music shop, where he now worked.

Over the past three years, he had not only read every music book at the music shop, he had surpassed Jean Pierrepont's ability to teach him.  He had learned to play the piano, the guitar, the kvinnaböske, the crwth.  Indeed every musical instrument in Mr Pierrepont's shop.  He now taught young children piano, violin, drums... whatever they wanted.

Mr Pierrepont was awaiting his arrival and grinned as Tedy walked into the shop.

"Happy Birthday Teddy".

"Good Morning Mr Pierrepont"

"What are you looking for today; I have some new schlager sheet music?"  Jean Pierrepont handed Teddy an envelope.  Teddy opened the envelope and pulled out a birthday card.  Opening the card a sheet of paper was nearly folded and pressed.  Teddy could see it was some sheetmusic. He read the card.

To Teddy,

Your 21st Birthday present is in the key of G.

Happy Birthday friend.

Jean

"Play it, Teddy", Jean said, ushering Teddy to the piano.

"Don't you want me to look after the customer ?", Teddy asked pointing at a man browsing the tambourines.

"Oh, he's fine!" Jean said dismissingly, pushing Teddy down into the bench at the piano.  "Play! Play!".

Teddy unfolded the music and placed it on the piano.  He looked at the sheet music  but it wasn't a song he had heard of before.  He hummed a few notes to try and find the cadence and rhythm.  Stopped, pausing for a moment and then began playing.  It was an upbeat number with a comforting and knowing melody and Teddy played it beautifully.  His fingers finding just the right note with just the perfect amount of pressure, in the way only a true virtuoso can.

The man who was looking at the tambourines, stopped and walked over to Jean whispered quietly in his ear and left the store.  Teddy however contiuned to play the piano, unawares.

After he had finished the piece.  Jean clapped and cheered.  Jean had always been so encouraging of Teddy,  understanding the rare gift that Teddy possessed.

"Thank you, Jean.  It's a wonderful gift. I love it", Teddy said.

"Teddy.  I never had children, but if I had I would hope they would be a lot like you." Jean hugged Teddy, tightly. "Happy Birthday".

Teddy thanked Jean again and spent the day working in the music shop.

Performance

Teddy, our beefcake du jour, does enjoy lifting weights and is keen to impress the gents with his toned physique.  As a result, he's decided to dress up for the evening, wearing a plain crisp white short sleeved shirt (potentially one size too small) and tight, ripped faded denims.   The shirt, naturally, will be opened not one, not two, not three, but four buttons down, thus providing the watching public an excellent view of his pectoral muscles.  Teddy's also got himself a nice spray tan for the evening, in the colour of Tahitian bronze. Spiffing.

Image
Teddy Behr ready to Rock

Feeling confident, Teddy steps out on stage.  He prepares himself, blowing out any nerves which might be caught in his body.

Behind him, the stagehands are setting up a large white wall.  Onto this wall will be projected a number of different images and colours throughout the performance.

The postcard comes to an end and the stagehands run off stage.  Teddy checks he's on his mark, off-centre to the right of the white wall, and the director cuts to a zoom shot over the crowd; waving their flags and generally looking like they're having the time of their lives.  The song details appear on screen, and in his feedback monitor Teddy hears a the ticking countdown 3... 2...1...

The music begins a synth beat, strong and filled with promise of a bop to come.   The director cuts to a shot of Teddy, who raises his mic and begins to bop along to the tune.

Hey Little Darling, don't you fret it
My beating heart won't let me forget it

I wonder why
It beats so strong
Although you're gone

Teddy's modus operandi is to act out the the words of his songs.  Not only does this mean that the audience can get an idea of what is going on in the song even if they don't understand the language, but it's a useful tool for Teddy to recall the lyrics.  He starts by flashing his pearly whites down the camera with a little head flick as he sings 'little darling, don't you fret it'.  It's a little move which probably gets him all the girlies at the nightclub.  Indeed, somewhere, possibly in Nekoni, a young girl may have gone weak at the knees.

When he sings 'won't let me forget it' he puts his hand to the side of his head, it gives Teddy the first opportunity to have a little flex of his biceps, the tahitian bronze glistening under the stage lights.

The director will cut to a slightly wider view, framing the white wall.  Teddy standing right-of-centre.  Being projected onto the wall is a visual red line representaion of an EKG heart beat, pulsing along beside him to the beat of the music.

Now after resting, huh, my heart's still racing
It's like me, it cannot stop pacing

I wonder why
It beats so strong
Although you're gone

Teddy sways through his needs in time to the beat.  The rhythmic sway, together with the pulsating EKG line has an almost hypnotic effect.  As he sings, "it beats so strong", Teddy thumps his chest just like Celine Dion does when she gets emotional.  Somewhere, most probably in the Achaean Republic, a young man a squeals with excitement.

As the chorus begins, it can be said that, so far, Teddy's perofrmance has been casual and laid back.  That's not to say its not been powerful, simply that the performance is actually far more like Teddy's enjoyed one too many Babychams and has the confidence that comes when your inhibitions are lowered.

After you left me
I thought I'd fall apart
That the world would end
Because of my broken heart
Although you're not here
My heart still beats strong
Of the things you should know
Know that I can go on

Teddy contiunes to prance around the stage with all the confidence of a middle aged white man in middle management.  When he sings about his broke heart, his white shirt which has been straining to contain his toned physique, finally gives as he pounds at his chest.  The two fastened buttons, of the one size too small shirt pop off and his shirty flaps open.  Somewhere, most likely in Britonisea, someone's rewinding live TV.

The night you left me, I felt so empty
But in the silence I heard my heart thumpin'

I wonder why
It beats so strong
Although you're gone

Teddy clenches his fist pounding it up and down in the air as he he sings "so strong", and then releases and as he sings "Although your gone". Fortunately, however, during the preceeding stanzas, a stage hand has turned on a wind machine and Teddy's shirt flaps furiously behind him.

As the chorus approaches, the projected image on the white wall changes to that of a heart shape pounding and beating.

After you left me
I thought I'd fall apart
That the world would end
Because of my broken heart
Although you're not here
My heart still beats strong
Of the things you should know
Know that I can go on

Teddy continues to bop along to the beat  his shirt flapping in the breeze.

The director however, decides now would be a good time to turn to local audience and shows shots of the interior of the stadium.  They are smiling and clapping along to the music and generally having an excellent time, and why wouldn't they be on a night like tonight, because  WorldVision is a spectacle unlike no other and the hosts have put on a magnificent show.

Cutting back to Teddy on the stage  the perofrmance continues

After you left me
I thought I'd fall apart
That the world would end
Because of my broken heart
Although you're not here
My heart still beats strong
Of the things you should know
Know that I can go on

As Teddy sings "my broken heart" he dramatically  throws his fist into the beating heart and the image shatters and falls to the ground. Teddy falls to his knees, following the fallen pieces of his heart.  His tight ripped faded jeans  straining and showing just the right amount of flesh and nothing obscene.  Somewhere, quite likely in Caryton, a disgusted viewer is writing a strongly worded letter to the television Broadcaster.

As the next stanza approaches, Teddy returns to his feet, and rose petals begin to fall from the ceiling.  Teddy has been lobbying quietly to become the next Bachelor and he hopes that the rose petal drop will be noticed by local television producers.

Thanks to my heart
Beating so strong
I know that I
Am fine on my own

The effect was anticipated  to be a few rose petals lightly floating as if gently descending down from cloud to cloud.  Instead, the rose petals fall as one giant clump and whomp on the ground around Teddy.  Then the wind machine blows the petals to the rear of the stage, it's a disappointing effect, however somewhere, most plausibly Malta Comino Gozo, someone's taking notes to do it better in the future.

After you left me
I thought I'd fall apart
That the world would end
Because of my broken heart
Although you're not here
My heart still beats strong
Of the things you should know
Know that I can go on

With the song almost at it's peak, Teddy is eager to go full tilt, making sure his torso is on full display, and is keen as mustard to make up for the failed rose petal drop.  He's smizing so hard that he may just burst a blood vessel, emoting down the camera at the at-home audience, looking for every televote he can eek out. The sound of furious scribbling can be heard from someone in Kalosia as they see how they can improve their televote perofrmance.

After you left me
I thought I'd fall apart
That the world would end
Because of my broken heart
Although you're not here
My heart still beats strong
Of all the things you should know
Know that I can go on

With the song now winding up, Teddy is overcome by the excitement and energy from the auditorium audience, who have been dutifully waving their flags and banners and singing along with Teddy.  Teddy bounces around the stage with all the enthusiasm of a 5 year old who has had red smarties.

After you left me
I thought I'd fall apart
That the world would end
Because of my broken heart
Although you're not here
My heart still beats strong
Of the things you should know
Know that I can go on

As the final line is sung, Teddy rushes back in front of the white wall and a giant red love heart is shown on the screen.  As the song finishes the auditorium lights  go out meaning the only light in the stadium comes from from red heart being projected on the white wall, it beats once and then goes dark.  It's It's interesting end to the song.  From the darkness,  Teddy thanks the audience and runs of stage for the next entrant.  Across the world, there's a significant amount of people furiously  writing down the phone and sms number for Beepee to vote in the televote (hopefully).

Crustyland had always struggled as of late when sending a semi-serious entry with nearly all of them actually performing badly. Back In Darkmania the Flom Flom Whales and their upbeat pop song sadly failed again gaining just 29 points in the jury and ONE point from the televoting. CRAP had had time to recover from WV90 and this time had a budget for a decent song and singer, something which didn't normally pair up! Determined to gain a decent position again as they did back in WV90 CRAP internally selected Ernst Tonnesen a 17-year-old boy from Rannk, the countries godforsaken, seal infested, foul-smelling capital city.

Ernst Tonnesen’s song is a lighthearted summertime pop track about struggling to move on from a relationship with somebody for who you still have feelings. It’s a universal sentiment that could resonate with a lot of listeners. 2It’s a song about how hard it is to leave someone that you like", Ernst tells CRAP. The viewers can expect a delightful and energetic pop song.

Ernst Tonnesen born 25 May 2004 is a Crustylandian a singer-songwriter and musician. He started to sing at clubs and when he started to write his songs and his fan group got bigger and bigger TV shows soon followed. He is the youngest singer to represent the nation so far and aims to prove that Crustyland has got what it takes.. sometimes.

The crowd cheers cautiously, but no seal mammals are present and the cheers get louder as a silhouette or Ernst appears on stage. The stage is dimly lit in blue and Ernst is lit by a white spotlight. He is wearing a blue denim jacket, white hoodie, beige chinos and perfectly crisp white trainers. His hair is parted and formed into a quiff. The camera pans towards him from above. Ernst looks at the camera as it floats towards him slowly. He has a stand-up microphone. As he sings "The writing’s on the wall" the LED's flash white. A white can convey include cleanliness, freshness, and simplicity. We hear his female backing singer sing "Limitless curiosity". The camera stays on Ernst for the rest of the verse. He looks worn out, down but as the verse continues a small sense of hope comes and he begins to smile in time for the chorus. As he sings "See our picture with me hold it in your head", he taps his head once with his left hand.

Another day is over
The writing’s on the wall
Limitless curiosity
It’s time to, stop reflecting on
Limitless curiosity
The dreams that made me, stand so tall
Now I’m fully awake and, I’m standing on my feet
From now until tomorrow
The sun will be much colder
Then the one within my dreams
See our picture with me hold it in your head

The stage shines brighter and the LED's pulse white. Lights around the hall begin to flash white as the beat builds. The crowd cheers. He places his left fist across his chest and then lists his fist slightly into the air. Suddenly as he sings "Standing alone in the dark" the camera pans cuts to a stage view as every light apart from his crisp white spotlight go off, the camera cuts back to a facial shot as he hangs his head down quickly and the crowd cheers through the darkness of the arena. He raises his head with a smile on his face and all the lights come back on.

I love you so much that it hurts
I feel pain in my heart
I never knew that love would leave me
With limitless curiosity
Standing alone in the dark
Now I’m feeling so empty
And, there’s nothing left to say
But limitless curiosity

He leaves his microphone stand and wanders to his right. The camera following him in mid-air. The background changes to a dark blue that fades into the sunrise with yellows and oranges, he still has the white spotlight following him. His foot is tapping the stage to the beat. His movements are graceful, he animates himself gently dancing but not too much. He gently gestures out to the camera for the last line "please hold my hand once more".

And when the new day, starts to dawn
Limitless curiosity
On the painful tears that we’ve both shed, oh no
And I’ll begin all over
I will start to live again
Pretend a new beginning’s here
And dream a dream
For which
There’ll be no end
So come a little closer
Please hold my hand once more

He shuffles forwards towards the edge of the middle stage with renewed vigour. He now looks full of joy and is smiling. The stage shines brighter and the LED's pulse white. Lights around the hall begin to flash white as the beat builds. The crowd cheers again. He places his left fist across his chest and then lists his fist slightly into the air. He shuffles on the spot. The camera pans to a body shot view. When he flowed in dance it was as if it were the only way his body truly knew how to speak. Verbally he was guarded, physically he would shrink and fade into the background no matter where he was. On stage his personality, his sensuality burst through into the most vibrant picture of a beautiful soul. The audience watched him move to the music filling the hall. He turns to the on-stage camera standing. He dropped his eyes momentarily before looking, his head tilted to one side and a hopeful smile playing on his lips.

I love you so much that it hurts
I feel pain in my heart
I never knew that love would leave me
With limitless curiosity
Standing alone in the dark
Now I’m feeling so empty
And there’s nothing left to say
But limitless curiosity

The background LED's cycles blue and green behind him and the white arena lights playfully zoom around the excited spectators. Ernst dances around the centre of the stage. The spotlight above him illuminating him as he does so.

Oh yeah
But with limitless curiosity
But with limitless curiosity
Oh No No No

Every light fades into black and Ernst is left standing there alone with a white spotlight. The camera cuts to a facial shot. He grabs the mic with both hands. He has an upset expression etched on his face again. He sings pleadingly to the camera for the pre-chorus. His eyes are tearing over slightly. He tilts his head slightly to his left away from the camera.

So as you leave, I’ll smile and wave
Then turn so you don’t see
My tear-stained face

The stage lights build and flash brighter and the LED's pulse white. Lights around the hall begin to flash white as the beat builds We can hear his backing singer supporting him. Ernst is shaking his right hand in the air to the beat. He has a large smile on his face again.

I love you so much that it hurts
I feel pain in my heart
I never knew that love would leave me
With limitless curiosity
Standing alone in the dark
Now I’m feeling so empty
And there’s nothing left to say
But limitless curiosity

The camera zooms in from the corner towards the stage. We then have a shot of Ernst dancing and then a great shot of the stage from the middle of the audience mid-air. He carries on shuffle dancing to the beat. He leans rising on the balls of his feet to gain height and get a better look out his posture and his mood immediately brightens. The camera ends on him as he sings the last line, he dramatically looks down towards his left shoulder as all the lights go off and the song ends.

Oh yeah
Ohhh
With limitless curiosity
Ohh
Oh no no no
With limitless curiosity

The crowd cheers enthusiastically and applaud. Ernst bows. "Thank you so much!" He exits the stage. Strangely enough, Crustyland had pulled off another good entry. Ernst hoped it would convert to votes from the public and also juries.

#03 BRITONISEA
Eastern Fifth - "Expelliarmus"
Tune : Steps & Michelle Visage - "Heartbreak in This City"
Music: Eastern Fifth Lyrics: Eastern Fifth

Image
Eastern Fifth: "Expelliarmus" will be the song that will represent Britonisea at the WorldVision Song Contest 93 after the nation's sub-top 10 finish at the previous contest.

Britonisea returns to the WorldVision Song Contest, unexpectedly, with the song "Expelliarmus", hoping to better its performance after last edition's shock 17th place in the televote - 13 places below the jury placement.

After the embarrassment of Britonisea's song placing 17th out of 29 nations - which, if it were up to the televote, would see Britonisea receive its worst placement in over 40 editions. BITC officials, whilst they were used to getting 11th place but they thought that it was very concerning that the televote has completely lost faith in Britonisea. Looking ahead at the 93rd WorldVision Song Contest, the broadcaster had to think long and hard about what the next steps would be to try and improve Britonisea's record at the contest as the broadcaster didn't want the country to fall into its old ways of results under 20th. While it was unlikely Britonisea would ever return to that stage, it was better to be safe than sorry. What did Britonisea like that the televoting audience also liked? The country didn't want to send something that wasn't authentic to the country and so the nation thought about sending its first group for quite some time in the form of Eastern Fifith. Eastern Fifth is a relatively unheard of group from Britonisea but they were ready to represent the country at the upcoming WorldVision Song Contest in the Alezian Union. The broadcaster was quite excited to head to Zafi for the contest as the broadcaster was one of the couple that suggested that ABA put in a bid to host. In the end, Zafi hosting meant a new location for Britonisea and the broadcaster. The group would be performing third in the running order - quite early for Britonisea.

After the skateboard postcard played, the audience came in with a large applause before the arena went dark in preparation. The vocals started almost immediately, with the first member of the group singing their song under a red spotlight. They were standing in a row but you couldn't see all of them just yet.

Tears, down my face - look at me, see all the hurt
Try, oh I tried - to keep the peace but I could-n't
I lost myself with you, now I must fly,
I must let go, yes, I must go,
So I can leave my past far behind.
That includes you, baby, you, you, you!

During the first verse, all the stars started singing, with the red lights poised on all of them. As they sang the lyrics "you, you, you!", there were close-ups of each of the members of the groups (three of them) before we moved onto the chorus, with a back drop of a neon city being shown.

Call me another slur, come on boy and do your worst,
Use your words against me as a weapon, so
Expelliarmus, say no more - what can you do?
You can't hurt me anymore.

Try to tear me down, come on boy and do your worst,
Use your words against me as a weapon, so
Expelliarmus, say no more - what can you do?
You can't hurt me anymore.

At the end of the chorus, the Eastern Fifth were spread out across the vast stage, with the lights slightly turning more purple. We focused on one of the members of Eastern Fifth as they sang into the camera. The singer had an inquisitive facial expression on their face, especially as they asked sentences in the verse.

Nights, so many, laying in my bed alone
Where - where were you? Was I in your mind when you stayed away?
Let me guess, more fool me, I'm second best (yet again)
I must let go, yes, I must go,
So I can leave my past far behind.
That includes you, baby, you, you, you!

We then moved to another chorus with the same neon city appearing behind the group but this time, it looked as though it was night time as the colours were a lot brighter.

At the start of the bridge section, they all came together, standing in a circle - with the screens behind them all turning slightly dark, with purple bubbles rising like helium balloons on the display. The camera was spinning around all of them before a final shot of the bridge a large white light dispersed.

(You can't hurt me, no)
Why am I not good enough, baby?
Why aren't you satisfied with me, babe?
Lead me on with false hope, chasing the unattainable
And now, boy, I've had enough!

At the end of the bridge, it was the chorus and time to show off some dancing skills. The five of them did synchronised dance movements in the middle of the stage as a bunch of pyrothechnics were shot into the air around them. Alongside this, they were lots of stage fans facing them, blowing their hair and costumes.

At the end of the song, the Alezian audience made a load of noise for the Britons - "Thank you!" they all shouted together before walking off the stage for the next act. Would Britonisea better its 11th place from the edition before? We would have to see, but the Eastern Fifth were very satisfied with their performance.

Tune: Birthe Kjær - Din i Nat

Introduction

While it was not their best finish, Carrelie was satisfied with the result they got in Worldvision 93. Sure, it wasn't top 10, but 14th is no easy feat. However, Radio Dourie decided that they could do a bit better, and decided to leave all the results up to international juries, getting rid of the reportedly rigged televote. The results were scathing, and one person unexpectedly came out on top...

Madame Dressler

Image

Born in 1975, Liselotte Dressler is the youngest of Max Dressler's 7 children. She began her career in music at an early age, making her first proper stage appearence at the 1986 Carrelie Songfestival, where she represented Haufenburg and came 4th. This first appearence, combined with her family's established popularity, helped to propel her into the music scene, and she began producing music in her free time. Since then, her popularity has waxed and waned, with hits such as "Alles ist nicht unendlich" and "Céra", and flops such as her cover of Arianos' first entry to Songfesitval, "Man gewöhnt sich so schnell an das schöne". Despite this, she's remained headstrong and has continued pursuing her solo career.

Max died in 2017, forcing Liselotte to take a break from music. This break was longer than expected, as during this time she found a partner in the form of Amélie Montisme and adopted a child.

She wasn't expected to win Melodifestival. In fact, she was expected to come 6th, behind North Borneo. However, international juries seemed to love the song, and the people of Carrelie were surprised, to say the least. Haufenburg had never been a heavy hitter in song contests. Sure, they had won Songfestival a few times, but that was all they had, so when the winner was announced, a schlager song, no less, all of Carrelie quaked and/or celebrated, one of the two. What a time to be alive!

Performance

As the postcard ends, Liselotte, her 2 backing singers and 3 backing dancers are already up on stage. Liselotte herself hasn't experienced something much like this in over 12 years, and she is clearly a bit nervous. Usually, she'd have her siblings there on stage with her, though they were all sat in the audience with their mother. Her father's spirit was probably watching on, if such things exist. Strewn across the stage are many cloud shapes.

The music begins and the backing singers, who are situated off to the right, sing the intro. The backing dancers come out from behind Liselotte and stretch out their hands as they run about the stage. In a matter of seconds, the time comes for Liselotte to sing.

On a cloud!

At times I find myself lonely,
And I wonder where my love’s gone,
I just look for you around me,
And even if not physically,
I still see your love everywhere,
And it reminds me of my life,
Because there’s nothing not worth seizing,
And there’s nothing I won’t try!

With the first verse done, it's time for Liselotte to move into the chorus, while her backing dancers surround her in the back. With caution, she moves up onto one of the clouds, positioned just above the stage. Behind her, the screens show a scene of a sky of clouds, much like the one below.

Image

Oh, it's such a wonderful feeling,
That I'm stealin', oh, I'm flying on a cloud,
Nothing that could possibly beat it,
Always great, yeah, on a cloud!

The dancers come out from behind, dispersing across the stage while holding white ribbons, resembling the clouds on stage. Liselotte steps down from the cloud, moving towards the front of the stage as she sings the next verse with much love towards the audience. Once she reaches the front of the ring, she sets her microphone onto a microphone stand conveniently located there.

I find people loving everywhere,
But it will never quite get me down,
Cause even if you’re not here,
I still know that your love exists,
I’ll figure out how to get to you,
But even until then,
I’m feeling great where I am at now,
And I can’t even go down!

And into another chorus we go! Liselotte picks up the microphone, running over to the high cloud in order to sing up there. The running of the ribbons continues, though it speeds up gradually throughout the chorus.

There's another chorus here too, with some more grandiose effects, though it's no finisher.
Oh, it's such a wonderful feeling,
That I'm stealin', oh, I'm flying on a cloud,
Nothing that could possibly beat it,
Always great, yeah, on a cloud!
Oh, and it’s just a lovely feeling,
That I'm stealin', oh, I'm flying on a cloud,
Nothing that could possibly beat it,
Always great, yeah, on a cloud!

Liselotte whips herself into the next part as the running of the ribbons slows and eventually stops. The lights dim, with a single spotlight focusing on Liselotte as she pours her heart into her singing.

As the music picks up, as do the lights. The backing dancers return to how they were before, running across the stage.

There’s no need to get a plane,
I could walk right to you now,
I’d part the seas to get to you,
And I hope that you’d do the same,
'Cause by the time I hit the ground,
Yeah, I’m on a cloud!

It's time for the final choruses! Confetti begins to fall as Liselotte stands on her cloud, with hues of pastel blue, white, and pink flashing across the stage, grazing over her as she sings. Her heart goes into these moments, as the backing singers clap along, then sing along, with her.

Oh, it's such a wonderful feeling,
That I'm stealin', oh, I'm flying on a cloud,
Nothing that could possibly beat it,
Always great, yeah, on a cloud!
Yeah yeah, it's such a wonderful feeling,
That I'm stealin', oh, I'm flying on a cloud,
Nothing that could possibly beat it,
Always great, yeah, on a cloud!

The big finish is here. Liselotte throws up her fist, giving it her all as everyone looks on.

On a cloud!

It has ended, Liselotte has given this performance her all and the cheers from the audience certainly prove it.

"Dankeschön Alezia! Ich leibe dich!" shouts Liselotte, basking in the applause of the audience, before leaving the stage with pride, ready for the Kalosian act.

Ala kalmë — Filipe Gardañu
performed in Kalosian to the tune of Attraverso — Max Gazzè

Filipe Gardañu came 7th overall at the 60th edition of the Kalosian Song Festival (Festival dëla Kanžu Kalosianë) a few months ago. Having come 6th in the televote and 5th with the juries in a field of 14 participants in the final, he was a pretty popular entrant. He was one of the FKK acts who declared a willingness to perform at WorldVision (something that each participant was asked), and while he has been given the ticket for the 93rd WorldVision Song Contest, Filipe has opted to change his song.

Instead of the empowering N'oľeru maj, which he performed at FKK, he will sing his latest single Ala kalmë (To the calmness), a ballad composed by WHF winner Domeniku Kaľari. It is performed from the perspective of a man who has left his lover, expressing reluctance but ultimately concluding that it was the necessary thing to do. Some fans have drawn parallels to Kalosia's most recent World Hit Festival entry, Finu al ťelu n'es blu, which is sung from the perspective of a woman whose lover suddenly left. However, there is nothing to suggest that there is a relation between the two songs, despite the similar themes.

For the big night, Filipe was dressed in green. It gave Slytherin vibes, particularly to fans of a certain book franchise. But it was classy, not gimmicky. 'Dark Academia' is another term that comes to mind in describing his outfit.

Filipe is alone on stage. As the song begins, the stage is dark. As the opening notes from the piano are played, you can see on stage a man and a woman wearing classy ballroom outfits. They are dancing some sort of waltz. And then the camera switches perspective to Filipe, which it turns out is in the foreground, closer to the front of the stage.

Un pašu avanti
E në gardu lo kë lašu
Ja segu miu intuížio

The background screens aren't being used, leaving Filipe in the pitch black void, although the stage is illuminated somewhat using white lighting. The stage is also covered in fog. You could really tell the overall vibe is supposed to be melancholic.

Kontu li žorni
Da kadë samu enkontrati
E molti soli a apariti, a lašati

Filipe, being a novice to the world of international song festivals, decided to keep his staging rather simple. The camera alternates periodically between Filipe and the dancers. As the pre-chrus comes on, he sings warmly, with his voice projecting wisdom.

Benkë a volte ja penšu a ti ankorë
Ul fridu dëla matinë, manki mi
Sapu kë la verita në poše spetarë
Devu mi proteǧerë da l'oskurita
Dëla kadutë

At this point, the dancers become more lively. Is it still a waltz? It feels more like an interpretive dance, with the male dancer expressing hesitation, and the female dancer trying to catch up.

Kadë në videvu l'orižontë plu
Avamu përduto la luž
E ja au ešeľuto ad andarë via
A miu propriu kaminu, vjažu ala kalmë

Ma pregu ja për tia sikurežë senzë mi
U kestë vitë novë, saremu soli

As we return to the verses, there is a softness, a pensive feeling in Filipe's voice. The 31-year old sounds like he is reflecting back on his experiences in life, or perhaps, he is reflecting on the relationship he leaves behind in this song.

Kadë kaminu
Penšu di komu au sentitu
Kadë au statu ki pëla primë voltë

Inamuratu
Kol animë di tiu katiér
Ma l'amurë në basta për salva noš

Filipe continues to sing behind the mic stand, where he has been standing for the whole song, as he sings the pre-chorus once again.

Benkë a volte ja penšu a ti ankorë
Ul fridu dëla matinë, manki mi
Sapu kë la verita në poše spetarë
Devu mi proteǧerë da l'oskurita
Dëla kadutë

Now we get to the second and final chorus. These are the final lines of the song; although it may be a little plain for the calibre of WorldVision entries, Domeniku and Filipe, the songwriters, felt that it worked best this way, rather than adding a climax that ends up making the song feel tacky and something out of a musical.

Kadë në videvu l'orižontë plu
Avamu përduto la luž
E ja au ešeľuto ad andarë via
A miu propriu kaminu, vjažu ala kalmë

Ma pregu ja për tia sikurežë senzë mi
U kestë vitë novë, saremu soli

Here comes the outro, with the 'nananas' that Filipe sings. Of course, had he chosen to sing N'oľeru maj, Filipe would have opted for more energetic staging, including more body movement and gestures. But with this being a heartfelt song, he wanted to ensure an intimate moment with his audience, in order to reach out to them, so that they could relate with the entry. Also, the dancers slowly make their way towards Filipe, although dancing the whole way.

Nanana nananana na
Nanana nanana na
Nananana nananana nanananana
Nananana nananana nananana

As the song comes to an end, the dancers end their choreography with a pose, looking straight out of a painting. They are right in front of Filipe, who also poses himself, elegantly, in a way that compliments this final shot. After a few moments, the audience cheers, Filipe takes a bow, and thanks the viewers.

A step forward
And I don't look at what I'm leaving
I follow my intution

I count the days
Since we first met
And many suns have risen and set

Although sometimes I still think of you
In the coldness of the mornings, I miss you
I know that the truth cannot wait
I must protect myself from the darkness
From the fall

When I no longer saw the horizon
We lost the light
And I chose to go away
On my own path, I travel to the calmness

But I pray for your safety without me
In this new life, we will be alone

As I walk
I think of how I felt
When I was here for the first time

In love
With the spirit of your neighbourhood
But love is not enough to save us

Although sometimes I still think of you
In the coldness of the mornings, I miss you
I know that the truth cannot wait
I must protect myself from the darkness
From the fall

When I no longer saw the horizon
We lost the light
And I chose to go away
On my own path, I travel to the calmness

But I pray for your safety without me
In this new life, we will be alone

Nanana nananana na
Nanana nanana na
Nananana nananana nanananana
Nananana nananana nananana

Although they are trying to do the singing while dancing challenge but they find it hard to do. The songs then change into mid-tempo which will make them focusing in the singing. The lyric itself telling a story of two person who have meet for several times. But the women is reluctant to get into a relationship with the men as the men is so proud of his wealth and using his wealth to win's the women's heart in which she is ultimately decline.

We are very honored with the selection and all the support that we gained after the announcement. It is very amazing for both of us, a dancers, to be selected to join a singing competition. We hope that we can give out best in this contest

- Karina Putri

They will be the 10th Pemecutanian delegation to the competition.

As the host announce for their performance, Septian and Karina are preparing themselves. The stage light are dimmed with only the lights from the LED showing the postcard that can be seen. As the postcard disappear from the screen, the intro of the song started. The LED is showing a beautiful scenery of green savanna. A spot light focusing on Karina as she enter the stage from the right while singing the verses of the first part. She is wearing a dark brown blouse with white turtleneck shirt and long jeans. Looking so casual for the show. The camera is following her movement as she walking to the center of the stage. Septian is already standing lazily crossing his arms. He is wearing navy blue suit which makes him looking so formal. They are started to interact as if they are talking to each other.
Red - Karina
Blue - Septian
Purple - Both

Saat ku bertemu denganmu
Ada yang menggangguku
Membuatku merasa ragu
Akan kata kata mu

Dan kuberikan segala kemewahan
Yang tak kan kau kira

Ku tak perlu akan semua itu
Bukan tujuan ku

When I met you
Something's bothering me
Makes me feel doubt
With your words

And I give you all the luxuries
Which you wouldn't think
I don't need all that
Not my goal

Karina suddenly walk away from Septian as she sing the chorus part. While Septian is chasing her from behind. She stop at the front of the stage as sing to Septian as if she is telling him the words of the song.

Ku tak perlukan uang banyak tuk isi kantongku
Ku tak perlukan permata tuk hiasi tubuhku
Ku tak perlukan rumah mewah tuk jadi atapku
Yang ku perlu cinta tulus darimu

(Yang ku perlu cinta tulus darimu)
I don't need a lot of money to fill my pocket
I don't need gems to decorate my body
I don't need a luxury house to be my roof
All I need is sincere love from you
(All I need is sincere love from you)

Septian start to sing the verses of the second part. He looks so cocky which is captured nicely by the camera. Something that disgust Karina. They are really into their part. Karina walk away from Septian as she sing the bridge. They walk separate ways to the circle stage.

Apapun yang engkau inginkan
Pasti akan ku wujudkan
Tak ada yang tak aku bisa
Ku punya segalanya

Oh sudah lah jangan terus memaksa
Ku tak kan tergoda

Jangan lah kau terlalu jual mahal
Ku tau ingin mu

Whatever you want
I will definitely make it happen
There's nothing I can't do
I have everything

Oh well, don't keep forcing
I'm not tempted
Don't you play hard to get
I know what you want

Karina sing the chorus fiercefully because she told Septian for the second time through the words of the song. This character that they play on the stage really gets into the audience as they feel that the singers are fighting each other. They walk again to meet at the front of the circle stage.

Ku tak inginkan uang banyak tuk isi kantongku
Ku tak inginkan permata tuk hiasi tubuhku
Ku tak inginkan rumah mewah tuk jadi atap ku
Yang ku ingin cinta tulus darimu

Tulus darimu....
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...
Tulus darimu....
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...
I don't want a lot of money to fill my pocket
I don't want gems to decorate my body
I don't want a luxurious house to be my roof
All I want is sincere love from you
Sincerity from you....
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...
Sincerity from you....
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...

As the camera capture Karina's expression, she looks so helpless as she sing the coda. While Septian seems like mocking at her when she sing 'Ku tak gila harta' part. Karina shake her head in disbelief then start to sing the chorus together with Septian. At the end, Septian kneel in front of her as he sing the 'Tulus darimu' part. Karina then help him to stand up before they are hug each other while continue singing until Septian close it with the last verse. And they are embracing again as the lights are off.

Sudah cukup semua bicaramu
Ku tak gila harta

Ku tak perlukan uang banyak tuk isi kantongku
Ku tak perlukan permata tuk hiasi tubuhku
Ku tak perlukan rumah mewah tuk jadi atapku
Yang ku perlu cinta tulus darimu

Tulus darimu...
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...
Cinta yang tulus darimu...
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...
Cinta tulusmu...
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...
Ku perlu cinta tulusmu...

Yang ku perlu cinta tulus darimu
Tulus darimu
You've said enough
I'm not crazy about money

I don't need a lot of money to fill my pocket
I don't need gems to decorate my body
I don't need a luxury house to be my roof
All I need is sincere love from you
Sincerity from you...
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...
Sincere love from you...
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...
Your true love...
oh ho oh...oh ho oh...
I need your true love...

All I need is sincere love from you
Sincerity from you

The audience give a round of applause for their unique performance. They are so immerse with the act that both singers play as if they are fighting each other. Karina and Septian holding their hands while bowing to the audience, thanking for the good acceptance. The host once again announce their name for the last time. Karina and Septian are waving their hands while walking back to the back stage.

Biedro Calo
Let Loose

Tune: Omar Rudberg - It Takes A Fool To Remain Sane
Image

With the end of the postcard, the camera pans out over the audience and to the stage. Biedro is seen standing onstage, where he is wearing black jeans, with a red leather jacket. Underneath the white jacket a white t-shirt can be seen, and Biedro dons a pair of black gloves. One hand grips the microphone stand while the other gently holds the mic. The stage goes black as the performance is about to begin.

Where is the person that I used to know
Who would never be caught solo?
The one who caught all the eyes in the room
But now carries around a heavy gloom

Let go of the past and it will
Get easier if you don't
Give it the chance
To linger on and become too much
But whatever you do
Don’t let it become a crutch

With the opening beat, the stagelights flash intensely with each beat, dimming before shining again. Biedro slightly moves his head to each beat as he takes the mic off the stand, still holding on to the stand with his right hand, mic in his left. As the song progresses, the lights around the stage start shining a cool, steady shade of blue. While singing, Biedro leans slightly off toward the edge of the stage, towards the crowd, being a good ways away from the ledge. His hair ruffles slightly with the help of the wind machines on stage, which can also be seen ruffling the edges of his jacket.

Remember all the fun stuff
I know that right now its real tough
But you need to say enough
If not then things are about to get rough
So relax

'Cause it’s time to finally let loose
Oh, it’s time to finally let loose
It’s time to finally let loose
Oh, it’s time to finally let loose

After the first chorus, Biedro lets go of the stand and walks around the stage as he sings the next verse. A spotlight from above follows closely follows him as he does so, and the camera on the left hand side of the stage pans to the right, as Biedro makes his way to that side of the stage. While doing so, he gives the camera a quick point of his finger as he winks. Turning back toward the audience again, the second chorus starts up while he expresses his intent to put on a performance. His facial expression slightly shifts as he becomes more serious and stern while finishing the chorus.

Every day now, I can see the improvements in your mood
It means nothing, if you do not put in the effort
Hard to attain, its all mundane
What happened to the cheers? Now replaced with tears

You’re not like all of the others
You still have pieces of you left
And that is all that matters now
Come with me
Don’t worry about what to say
But now is not the time to feel ashamed

Opposite to what he had just displayed, Biedro goes back to parading around the stage as he continues on with the following verses. An overhead view of the perfomance is captured from one of the cameras. Biedro goes back closer to the edge of the stage to be closer to the audience and then bends down and interacts from them while keeping his distance. He sings to the audience members closest to the stage before standing back up and continuing the performance.

'Cause it’s time to finally let loose
Oh, it’s time to finally let loose
It’s time to finally let loose
Oh, it’s time to finally let loose

It’s all strange
It’s all insane
But it’s great
It’s okay
Time to know this

Before he starts the chorus up again, he makes his way back to the microphone stand and puts the mic back on it. He slowly takes off his right glove, and holds it up for a quick second before dropping it. He then does the same with his other glove, this time throwing it behind him on stage. Then he takes off his jacket and lets it fall to his feet as he finishes the final line of the chorus, "Oh, it’s time to finally let loose", having now let loose himself of what was metaphorically holding him back. He leans up to the mic and sings in a softer, calmer tone for the next verse.

'Cause it’s time to finally let loose
Oh, it’s time to finally let loose
It’s time to finally let loose
Oh, it’s time to finally let loose

At this point Biedro only retains his black jeans and white t-shirt after discarding his other articles of clothing. He now has more wiggle room when it comes to performing, and his movements have become more fluid as compared to his more rigid composure earlier in the performance. With the end of the final chorus, Biedro throws his hand in a fist in the air, still holding on to the microphone. The audience starts cheering while he stands on stage, waves and blows a kiss out to the audience. "Thank you so much, greixas!" He does a quick jump as he walks off stage, clearly still excited from his performance.

09 - Placely Placington

Melty - I Hope Satan Brings Me Lots Of Presents For Christmas

Tune: Mayhem - Chainsaw Gutsfuck

Twas a good while before Christmas and all throughout Placely Placington, we visit the office of one Dave McDaverson. That's all the rhyming you'll get. For, you see, he had discovered Christmas and had grown interested in it. Why wouldn't he? A day of receiving presents and gorging on stuff, what's not for him to like. And, completely enamoured with this whole concept and wishing to spread it to his people, commissioned a Christmas song to be sent to the WorldVision Song Contest. Indeed, let's join him in his office, full of decerations such as a familiar man in red delivering presents to children and a massive sign that said "Satan stop here". And let's also join Television Director, who was also joining him in said office.

"Oh hello, Television Director!" Dave said to his television-headed friend, head of the main broadcaster Wait, We Have A Broadcaster and fisherman of shopping trollies as he finished writing his 13th letter to Satan, like someone who'll probably receive a restraining order if he kept it up.

"Hello, sir." Television Director replied as he sat in the burnt-out husk of a chair opposite Dave. "Still in the Christmas mood?"

"I sure am!" Dave answered as he showed the letter to Television Director. His letter mostly consisted of him asking for two familiar five-letter words before it was finished off with a surprisingly well drawn picture of Dave standing side by side with a certain horned goat-legged figure. They were each having a glass of milk and seemed to be sharing a plate of chocolate chip cookies. "When is Christmas anyway?"

"December 25th, usually. Some people celebrate it later."

"Uh-huh. And what day is it today?"

"I don't know, sir. You banned calendars."

At that point, Dave got a bit angry. "They're just so inconsistent!" He said, banging his fist on the table and accidentally breaking one of its legs, causing a lamp to fall off and smash. "Some months have thirty days. Some months have thirty-one. One month has 28 days except for every four or four hundred years when it has 29. Make up your mind calendar people!"

"Y-Yes sir." Television Director stuttered, trying to process what his leader was saying. He just ignored it and would've said something had Dave not interrupted.

"Anywaysays, I'm not the only one in the Christmas mood. Our Health Minister just sent a letter to Satan asking for everyone everywhere to meet his friends and family. Isn't that sweet?" (seriously, it isn't.)

"Yes, about that. I had a talk to the other people while I was selling them trollies and I found out that the person isn't Satan. His name is actually San-" Television Director's voice trailed as he noticed Dave's finger getting close to a certain button, causing him to immediately stop his train of thought. "No, you're right, it's Satan." Dave McDaverson then made a happy noise before Television Director spoke again. "Anyway, I'm looking forward to the song. I hope the IBA people will like it."

Dave nodded and immediately got to work on writing and composing the entry. A true Placely Placingtonian Christmas song if you will. One that'll take its place in history alongside Silent Night, Jingle Bells, White Christmas, Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town, Merry Xmas Everybody and Killing In The Name. All certifiable classics. Then, once Dave finally wrote his song, he picked the lucky person to sing it. And that person was Melty, a man who is also the reason why the carpet cleaning industry tends to boom there. And chances are that the same thing will happen in The Alezian Union once Melty arrives. Will he bring everyone into the Christmas spirit whether or not they want to or will his entry completely stink up the table? It's Placely Placington so it's kind of an obvious question. But let's see, shall we?

Sometime after everyone either sat down or left to take a bathroom break, the song began. Yes, I'm speedrunning this bit because I can't think of any ways to keep this whole thing fresh. Anyhoo, the stage was black and white throughout the entire intro, with the odd flash of white everytime the guitars started to chug. It all sounded very intense and extreme, even more so when we got the guitar solo. After the drums picked up, two figures came out. The first was an incredibly muscular Test Subject, the very same one from Placely Placington's WV91 entry. It was holding its guitar by the base of the neck and scratching the fretboard frantically as if it was trying to help the guitar deal with a really bad itch. The second was the titular Melty; not his full name of course but he can't say his last name because it comes out as all gurgly whenever he tries to say it. Eventually, he started to sing while the muscular Test Subject repeatedly kicked him in a certain spot, just to make sure he could hit those high notes.

Coming through the heavy snow
Dropping gifts to those down below
God bless you Satan
Thank you for the presents

It was at that point where Melty regretted wearing his outfit. A mish-mash of two figures who tend to be a bit different and whose names are an anagram of each others'. A red coat with a familiar red hat matching with massive horns and a pair of trousers and built-in shoes that both seem to look like a pair of hairy goats legs. The muscular Test Subject also had the same horns and goat legs but also had a red nose and a pair of suspenders that were just keeping its lower half up. It then made an expression like it was trying to swallow its upper jaw while it went back to kicking Melty in the soprano spot as he sang the next line.

Thank you for the toy train set
I think you really are the best
I wish you really knew
How much I worship you

Sometime after that we got more of the same before we went into some mellow-if-distorted guitar playing. Of course, it was hard to tell because the muscular Test Subject was trying to rip the fretboard in half vertically. Eventually when that solo came to an end, the same thing as last time happened. The kicks weren't as hard as last time and seemed to miss the right spot a little bit but still managed to do the job and make Melty squawk the lyrics that he needed to squawk.

Spreading so much lovely cheer
He'll be back sometime next year
Satan is so amazing
I love you lots Satan

Unfortunately for the Test Subject, the last kick saw the lower half of that leg stuck in that spot, simply because Melty had melted too much and had somehow become malleable enough that he could catch and hold anything. Indeed, when the Test Subject tried to pull its foot away the entire lower half of the leg, right below the knee. Fortunately it was left with just a stump and nothing else, for obvious reasons. As it hopped away, it slipped in a pile of Melty's flesh goo and landed on its back, somehow trapped by the guitar. Which it continued to play while it pulled an expression that made it look like it was trying to clean its eye with its tongue but it couldn't reach that far, especially during that furious section with the blast beats. Melty, meanwhile, carried on standing in his spot and melting into an unrecognisable pile of liquid clone. Eventually the Test Subject, pretty much trapped by the guitar it was playing, caught fire but carried on playing its instrument, only stopping when the song was finally over. At that point its whole body had turned into ash and, as such, it just collapsed into a pile. The audience gave some pithy claps while the clean-up crew were brought in to help clear the stage ready for an infinitely better entry. At least the Clonomat's been brought over so they can revive their entrants ready for when they receive a 12 for some reason.

(N.B. I don't actually follow Satan and, indeed, I'm actually unsure about the existence of any higher power or anything like that. Not to mention that in my opinion he has been supplanted as a hypothetical "great evil" by the likes of Cthulhu, who is much more worshipable. I shouldn't be bringing this disclaimer up but since there's a conspiracy cult who claims that their political opponents worship him and would be having a go about this if they found out, despite the whole group also claiming to be some sort of Christian but are pretty much the epitome of Psalm 35:20 and 2 Timmy 4:3-4, I figured I might as well cover that base while I defend my dumb shitpost. P.S. If you're reading this then PUSB CCFC)

10. FARABY
Caria Sahin"Rebel Girl”
Tune: Sløtface - Nancy Drew

A tribute to Maeve Wiley

Background
At WorldVision 92, Faraby’s entry, “The Big Man” by Serra Karakaya, placed 17th of 29 entries with a respectable 113 entries. The FBC regarded this as a success and quickly announced its intention to continue its WorldVision participation. Faraby’s entries so far had been greeted with a mixed reception by the islanders; while many praised the quality of the entries, and indeed Faraby’s WorldVision and WHF entries had always shot to the top of the island state’s charts soon after their respective events, some felt that Faraby was just there as Adab’s “B-team”, and that the FBC was far too subservient to the ABC’s desires when it came to picking their entries. It did not help that, starting from this edition, the FBC followed the ABC’s step in abolishing its public selection process for both WorldVision and the WHF and returning to internal selection. The reason given was pretty much the same: the public process had become too much of a burden on the FBC’s finances and the corporation had unnecessarily lost too much time in picking its contestants. Reportedly there was a dispute regarding this between FBC Director-General Sabiha Vali, who championed this approach, and Head of Delegation Kara Abbas, who opposed it as undemocratic. Publicly they put on a united front, insisting that the decision had been taken “unanimously”, although it was not immediately clear who had a vote in this matter.

As for the choice of the island state’s representative to WorldVision 93, both Vali and Abbas quickly came to an agreement. Born in Faraby City, the 18-year-old Caria Sahin demonstrated musical talent from an early age, winning several local singing competitions and playing in a band with her high school friends in her spare time. Mainly performing pop songs as a child, her taste gradually turned towards punk and pop punk as she entered her teenage years and adopted a “rebel girl” look. Caria found a place in Faraby City’s pop punk scene, which supported her as she began recording and touring the island, gaining new fans through streaming, word of mouth, and her energetic shows. She came to the FBC’s notice with the release of her EP, simply titled Caria Sahin, and her show at Prince’s Convention Center, which was attended by no less than seven thousand fans. Vali and Abbas both attended the show, and they agreed that Caria was the “voice of the youth”. “It was at that moment that we knew she was going to be our next WorldVision contestant,” Abbas said in an interview three weeks later. “She’s the one.” The FBC quickly contacted her, offering her the chance to represent Faraby on the WorldVision stage; she immediately agreed.

The Performance
It was with a little bit of fear, but also an overwhelming desire to just get on with the show, that Caria Sahin stepped onto the triangle stage at the National Stadium of Zafizamarrah, wearing a dark leather jacket over her white shirt. Her sharp, piercing eyes were directed at the audience. She held the microphone tightly in her hand, as the stage floor under her and the massive triangle behind shone in bright blue, fitting in quite nicely with her hair which she had partly colored blue, as the thumping beat blared across the venue. Caria swayed from the back to the front of the stage, her voice defiant, aggressive, sometimes growling, yet vaguely sultry.

Standing alone, that’s just the way that she is
Never cared for what they say about her
‘Cause she’s smarter, better, and stronger than the lot of them
And she’s making her own mark

You better beware
Yeah, you better beware

Standing at the front of the center stage, Caria suddenly did a 360-degree turn on her toes, in the process pointing at the audience and growling at them with a smile, “Come on you people! Make some noise!” The Farabians in the crowd replied with a chorus of shouts and cheers, while behind her spotlights crisscrossed the blue stage, sometimes passing by Caria.

Here she comes, the rebel girl, she comes
No messing about
Doesn’t suffer fools
Here she comes, the rebel girl, she comes
No messing about
Doesn’t suffer fools

Caria now leapt down to the inner circle stage. The bright blue of the stage floor now rapidly turned red, green, and then back to blue and so on, as the spotlights danced back and forth across the stage floor with increasing speed, evoking a sense of urgency about it all. Having made her way across the inner circle, she now traveled to the outer circle stage, walking around the perimeter of the stage, turning her head to take in the entirety of the audience, from time to time pointing at them with narrowed eyes and swaying hips.

Got the brains and beauty
Her hair a cool light purple
She’s much bigger than this whole world

Won’t ever be broken
The whole world may beat down and trample on her, but
They may keep on trying but she’ll never break

By now Caria had grown much more comfortable with the fact that she was on the WorldVision stage. Though publicly always enthusiastic about representing her island in the contest, she had privately wondered if she were even good enough for this, or if she were even ready for such a massive audience, far larger than any she had played to in her concerts. But she wasn’t doing too badly, and the audience seemed to be enjoying her performance.

Here she comes, the rebel girl, she comes
No messing about
Doesn’t suffer fools
Here she comes, the rebel girl, she comes
No messing about
Doesn’t suffer fools

Caria was still on the outer circle as the song launched into an instrumental break. With her free hand she reached out to the audience, shouting with apparent glee, “Zafizamarrah, you rock!” Now she made her way back to the inner circle, putting her lips even closer to the microphone as she sang the first stanza below in a low, breathy voice which resonated across the venue and gradually became louder as she went back up to the triangle stage and reached the final chorus.

Proving her critics wrong again and again
Proving her stupid critics wrong again and again
Yeah, you better beware

You better beware
Yeah, you better beware

Here she comes, the rebel girl, she comes
No messing about, boy
Doesn’t suffer, doesn’t suffer fools

Caria was at the center of the triangle stage when she finished singing the last line. The rapid, militaristic beat of the drums in the background track blared on at a great – but safe – volume across the National Stadium, punctuated by the guitar shredding. When the last note was sounded and the music came to an end, the spotlights disappeared, and the colors of the stage gradually faded into the nothingness of black. Behind Caria the colors, too, disappeared from the massive triangle. Her eyes shifted from left to right and then back again, taking in the audience’s applause and cheers. “Thank you, Zafizamarrah, thank you!” she shouted, struggling to hold back a tear. “This has been one of the best nights of my life, and it’s because of you.” Then, with the audience still applauding her, she turned her back and departed the stage.

11. ADAB
Ashina Uter"Clean”
Tune: Billie Eilish – Happier Than Ever
Language: English

Image
Ashina Uter

Background
Adab’s WorldVision 92 entry, “Pinewood and Tulips” by Rashid Abdul Malik, placed a respectable 12th in the final results, which was actually higher than what ABC Director-General Benji Akiya and the corporation board had privately expected. As usual with Adab’s WorldVision entries, “Pinewood and Tulips” shot to the top of the national charts following the conclusion of WV92, proving that there was still – and would continue to be – a large audience in the country for WorldVision. Insisting as usual that Adab’s purpose for entering WorldVision and the WHF was not to achieve a high position but expose the multiversal audience to Adabian music, Benji declared that the ABC would continue participating in those contests “for at least 100 years, very likely even more”. His statement, coming at a time when the government was reducing its funding for the ABC and reallocating the money to other projects, was seen as an assurance on Benji’s part that the ABC was more than capable of and fully committed to sending entries to WorldVision and the WHF even with less funding.

Though optimism was the name of the game, pragmatic realism, too, had a role to play in this saga. With Adab’s recent Junior World Hit Festival performers having been chosen without any kind of national selection, Benji and the ABC Board decided to scrap the currently-existing selection process altogether starting from World Hit Festival 61 and WorldVision 93 in favor of internal selection. The public selection process, while proving highly popular among the general public, was also seen in some quarters as cumbersome, time-wasting, and a drain on the ABC’s finances. With less money coming in from the Imperial Palace now, the Board exercised financial prudence and put the selection of contestants purely in their hands (and effectively in Benji’s own hands). While this move was, in turn, criticized by some as undemocratic, others conceded that it was a necessary sacrifice if the ABC were to keep competing in WorldVision and the WHF.

Thus, it was left to Benji Akiya – with the acquiescence of the rest of the Board – to find Adab’s next WorldVision contestant, and it did not take very long for him to discover a candidate. Always a keen follower of Adab’s music scene, Benji had kept himself up to date with the latest hits and trends and rising artists in the country, and one of those artists in particular caught his attention. Coming out of the indie pop scene in Eridu, 19-year-old Ashina Uter had scored a number-one hit on the album charts last year with her sophomore album When Everything Is Dark Why Are You So Bright?, its success driven in large part by streaming numbers. Her music and lyrics draw from a variety of influences, ranging from bedroom pop to grunge, and she has been acclaimed by critics for her “willingness to experiment” and penchant of “combining and bending various genres”. Benji attended her acoustic concert in Adab City, where she performed a few songs from her upcoming album completely unplugged, and thereafter approached her backstage, offering her the chance to represent Adab on the WorldVision stage and expose the multiverse to the “fresh sound” of her music. “You are the best thing in Adabian music right now,” Benji told her, “and it’s time for the multiverse to be introduced to the future of Adabian music.” Ashina initially demurred and asked for time to think about the offer. Sensing that the young artist was bound to reject his offer, probably because she saw WorldVision as “too kitsch” or beneath her indie taste, Benji began considering other options. But two days later he got a call from Ashina’s manager: she accepted the offer. It’s on.

The Performance
Ahina Uter could feel her heart beating fast as she emerged onto the stage in Zafizamarrah’s National Stadium. She had recently colored her hair a light shade of purple and thin – but still very much visible – eyeliners circled her eyes. Those, combined with the orange coat – decorated with pictures of flowers of various colors – she was wearing over her black shirt gave off an “I don’t care” appearance. She cared, of course, though she had never been one to let anyone too deep into her feelings. In fact, her initial reluctance to participate was because of something that she was careful not to tell Benji about: she was nervous at the prospect of performing in front of untold millions across the multiverse. But Benji’s call and the desire to remain brave through it all were too irresistible. So now she was, carrying an acoustic guitar to the center of the triangle stage, where a stool and a mic stand had been set up for her. The LED screen behind her turned on, providing a zoomed-in view of her sitting down. It was a necessity; beneath the towering behemoth of a triangle she might as well be an ant. Under her the entire stage floor – on the triangle stage and the circles – turned light purple, matching her hair. She lowered the mic to point at her guitar; she herself was wearing an earset microphone. Surrounded almost on all sides by a wall of strangers – and with millions more watching from the comfort of their home – Ashina Uter began to strum. Then she began to sing, her voice soft, almost fragile even.

Since you left me alone
I’m as happy as can be
No more shouting or breaking glass
Should’ve left me earlier

I was a fool for you
Even more for liking you
I wish it hadn’t happened
No stabbing in the back

The massive triangle behind her lit up entirely in just slightly darker purple. The choice of purple, a transition between bright, bubbly pink and the complete desolation of black, while also recalling her hair, was intended to symbolize her mood, far away from happiness, but not having yet made the plunge into rage. Her voice was so soft the earset mic could barely pick it up at times, and the pace of her singing was plodding, as if she was in no hurry to finish the song. Her eyes continuously veered between the audience and some spot on the floor just beyond her, her sight, as it retreated back from the spectators, catching the strumming of the guitar that gave her so much comfort, not least when performing before this large audience. She would never admit it, but she still felt somewhat nervous.

If only you were able
To see it from my perspective
Who was I kidding, you were blind
Do you even have a brain?

I was foolish to listen
To you and all the nonsense from your mouth
Tried to remake me into an image of you
Just a living replica

Said we’re one and the same
I was just so much different from you
Everyone avoided you
Maybe you should start thinking why

Since you left me alone
I’m as happy as can be
No more shouting or breaking glass
Should’ve left me earlier

But things were changing, and not for the better. While Ashina sang the penultimate stanza above, a man entered the stage behind her with what appeared to be an electric guitar, ominously dressed entirely in black – a black jacket covering his black shirt above his black trousers – and keeping somewhat to the back of the stage, a healthy distance away from Ashina. As Ashina entered the last stanza above, she sauntered over to the man. He took her acoustic guitar, and she the electric guitar, and then he left the stage, slipping away so quietly as if he had never been in there in the first place. Along the way the entire stage began to take on a sinister feel; the LED screen a suddenly switched off, and the massive triangle at the back began flickering uncontrollably, like a house rapidly running out of electricity. Black ink rapidly washed over the floor of the triangle stage, while the circles rapidly went back and forth between purple and black and white, before exploding in a brief supernova-like ray of white – spectators closest to the stage would later complain that it had hurt their eyes – and then fading away to black; she was dangerously veering towards unfettered rage.

With Ashina now holding the electric guitar, she began strumming more rapidly, the fuller electric sound, combined with her rising voice, giving off an increasingly aggressive feel. Now she returned to the mic stand and stool at the center of the triangle stage, but remained standing. The LED screen went back on, offering just enough brightness to clearly illuminate Ashina as well as provide a clear view of her on the screen to those towards the back of the venue, even as the triangle at the back continued flickering. Slowly she shook her head several times, her sight traveling back and forth across and taking in the length and breadth of the stadium. She furrowed her eyebrows, and with every line she sang her voice seemed to rise in volume, her breathing increasingly short and uneven.

You sent me a text at 2 a.m.
Begging for me ‘cause you had no one
You said you’d be good, I just misunderstood
Said you’d been thinking of me all night

I don’t understand you
All you do is give me the creeps, no
‘Cause I’m so much smarter than that now
I’m much better than you know

What was once black now exploded in a sea of strikingly bright red, rapidly sweeping from the massive triangle down to the stage floor and spreading across the floor. Columns of fire and smoke erupted en masse across the outline of the triangle stage, while the circles turned into rings of fire, the fire orange but also showing hints of red. Between each column was space sufficient enough to allow spectators a view of Ashina, but even if she were completely obscured that would not have distracted from her performance. Her voice broke through the fire and smoke, fueled by pent-up rage, as the heavily distorted sound of the guitar and the almost-militaristic beat of the drums from the background track resonated across the stadium. Ashina took the handheld microphone off the stand and put it on the stool, then kicked the stand, sending it tumbling down to the floor.

As the first wave of smoke and fire began to dissipate, they were replaced by a second, even more terrifying second wave, the columns of smoke not just rising high above but also threatening to spread sideways to the audience, although in the end it did not affect them, with spectators closest to the stage watching the smoke pass safely above them and the rest admiring it from rather far away. Ashina’s face took a dark frown, almost gnashing her teeth as she got the words out and strummed and strummed and strummed, beating her feet repeatedly against the red floor – and occasionally swinging them at the direction of the central seating – as the fire burned brightly across and in front of her. She shook her head suddenly repeatedly, with no identifiable rhythm, her eyes traveling down the seats with undisguised rage as she made her way through the final stanzas, looking like she enjoyed the show but also wanted to get out as soon as possible.

And I don’t ever want to see you ever again
I just want to forget all about you
‘Cause that’s just so very sad, the fact I once loved you
What I want is to wipe my memory clean

So just go away, don’t come back
I’d sooner lock myself than meet you

I don’t want to be ignored, belittled, and used again
All because you thought you could turn me into you
Never be a slave to your twisted sense of validation
Never have to prove myself again to you

You’re just nothing, you know
You know you mean nothing to me now
You think I’m better with you
But you’re just nothing but trash

Having completed her last line, Ashina then laid the electric guitar down on the floor, next to the fallen mic stand, then danced wildly around the center of the stage as the sound of the guitar continued coming out of the background track, abandoning any pretensions of actually playing the electric guitar live. The fire burned, burned, and burned on as Ashina swayed, jumped, rotated, and gyrated without a care in the world, her hair spreading out and blowing with the wind. Eventually the distorted sound began to fade, turning into static, and then disappearing as the fire and smoke died down. As the music faded away, Ashina stopped dancing and, after tidying her hair, raised the stand again, put the microphone on the stand, and picked up her guitar as the audience cheered and applauded her. “Thank you, Zafizamarrah! Thank you everyone!” she said, waving, looking to the audience one last time before turning her back on them and departing the stage.

Tim Bassett - Trustbreaker
Tune: Lisandro Cuxi - Eva

m & l: Juan Paulo Pavia, Marcell Devananda, Zakki Maxwell, Tim Bassett

Tim in his hotel room, wearing his performance outfit

Timothy Gabriel Bassett, more commonly known as Tim Bassett, was an unknown name in the Anturian music industry, however, his participation in Melodi Grand Prix took the Anturian music industry by storm, despite critics frequently lambasting his song too "cliche" and relying on "little girls' fanbase" , he managed to build a relatively stable fanbase on his social media accounts, often times engaging in Twitter Spaces with his fans. Tim himself did not understand how he got all this fame, however, with him entering MGP without all of his relatives and friends knowing, so when he got announced as one of the 12 participants (and later on, a Runner-up to Helena Reva), it came across as a shock to everyone he knows.

Tim does not care, however, "My dad is a hotelier, and my mom was an actress, she starred in many softcore movies in the 80s when it boomed [in Antahbrantahstan], with a stage name of course. Being in a family who loves art, my parents lowkey thought that i wasn't interested in singing, dancing, painting, or whatnot, my parents only know me as someone who likes listening to rock music so much they shouted at me to shut up once in a while." Tim said. "My life is mostly fixated on getting good grades, in fact, i attended the same high school as Selina Lawson [Anturian WorldVision winner with KRESNADEWI] was, when she won this school went batshit crazy, she literally got welcomed into this school like they're welcoming His Majesty The King, floral garlands and whatnot." Tim continues, thinking that it was probably the reason why he started following her footsteps as a singer.

About his "filthy rich" lifestyle, Tim does not deny. "Yeah, like what i said before, my father is a hotelier, during summer or new year holidays we regularly went to so many countries. Kalosia, Malta Comino Gozo, Scotatrova, these three nations got the nicest beaches on this planet don't you know? Other than ours. My dad also bought me a touch-screen phone in 2009-2010-ish? I forgot what year it was, but for sure, it made my classmates envious." Tim recalls. "But now my parent's business haven't been doing well, pandemic nearly ruined my dad's hotel, but thankfully, this nation recovered relatively quickly compared to what others did, so, hopefully things would get better as time goes on, not just for me, but for everyone else." Tim says.

Tim said that his song was born out of personal experience, "During high school, i was very cocky, thinking that with all money i have i can get everything i wanted, there was this girl whom i really loved, we were dating for a bit and things were doing great for both of us, however, i later discovered that she cheated on me with someone else, then hell began." Tim sighs. "I literally felt like this world is crashing on me, felt like this life was utter shit, i drank so much [alcohol], i fainted, got hospitalized for a while, mom and dad went mad at me." He says, "That experience humbled me a bit, i restrained flaunting myself as much as possible, and i think that, even if she was shit, she made me into a better person." Tim concludes. "This song is about my relationship with her, written by me alongside my fellow friends, hopefully you enjoy this song as much as i do."

The stage is dark, until the instrumental starts, startling the audience. The LED shows a close up image of waves crashing in, shot from above, leaving the audience clueless into what they have gotten themselves into, however, the wave image then disappears, replaced by an image of a steel surface, presumably a close up of a steel beam, tattered with rust and dirt all over. The camera, however, purposefully avoids shooting Tim, choosing to shoot parts of the stage, before zooming out, and shooting Tim.

Tim, wearing the same black sleeveless t-shirt and white gloves, is standing limply in the stage platform, his hands cuffed to the stage floor, with chains covering parts of his body, much to the shock of the audience. As the steel image on the LED screen disappears, leaving a stark, black surrounding, except for a few spotlights saving the stage from total, deafening darkness. Tim is covered with cuts, dirt and some bloodstains all over his body, though, his perseverance and strength wants his weak body to tell his story to the world, a story about someone who trusts someone too much, that they are left helpless when the other person backstabs them, just like TIm. However, it is unknown what events have taken place that led Tim into this pitiful position, but he doesn't seem to care.

The stage turns to a deep blue color, though leaving the stage dark, as Tim sings, his hands stretching out to the audience, seeking help... though soon after, he changes his mind, keeping his pain and anguish to himself, preferring to tell his story through his song, probably some sort of a "show-and-tell" game, to the audience in the venue, Alezian Union, and beyond...

During the "All of a sudden verse.." however, the stage changes their colours into a deep, wine-coloured red... Tim wants to break free, he tries his best to break off the cuff and chains that have prevented him from moving, to no avail, afterwards, Tim, in a state of almost crying, managed to sing more powerfully, starting from "You said.." verse, the stage changes colors repeatedly, the camera angles showing a multiple, dizzying array of shots that creates a cacophony of audiovisual bombardment that leaves the audiences dizzy, but for Tim, this is a way to let everyone knows, that this is his cry for help.

Minutes simply pass by without a notice
Thinking about the sweet sayings that you have ever said
All of a sudden, you want me to break this love
Wanting to put memories we’ve made into deathbed
You said, i wasn’t good enough
But i know the truth, it was rough
Is this the price i’ve paid for being way too tolerant?

The LED screen, finally being used, shows an image of black waves, or probably rivers, crashing about (a la Norma John's Blackbird performance). Tim is emotional, he wants to let his friend, his significant other, someone he trusted and loved deeply, that whatever they have done have caused Tim to be in a situation like this: cuffed, heartbroken, presumably suffering from such a traumatic experience. The stage lights, pure white, only acting as a lightsource, some sort of flashlight to prevent the stage from turning dark, does not do any particular movements or colour changing mechanism of some sort, acting as a silent bystander to Tim's anguish. Tim has no one else to help, so he continues to sing, and sing, and sing, hopefully, someone he knows, or maybe a bystander, will come save him from this mess.

Though if not, he doesn't mind, this will be his swan song, succumbing to trauma and despair.

Suddenly, the stage darkens.

And now you are here breaking my trust
Got me weeping in a cold, stormy night
Thinking there's no reasons to live
You're out here living your best life
And now you are here breaking my trust
Got me weeping in a cold, stormy night
You owe me an apology
You owe me an apology

The stage finally lights up again, Tim, now tired, kneels on the floor, it is unknown what he is thinking that made him do things like this, presumably he is finally experiencing what a sigh of relief feels like after bottling up years, even months, of emotions in his mind, or he might be angry, angry at the person who he felt is making his heart hurt more and more every single day after his trust gets broken, but even if the audience cannot exactly predict what he is feeling right now, one thing they knew for sure is that he is still not free yet, in fact, the cuff is still attached to his glove-wearing hands, evidenced by Tim trying to reach out his hand to the audience, captured on the ABA cameras, even if Tim feels that he is free, he is not, his hand cannot stretch out any further.

The stage, shows the same steel image that the audience have seen before, albeit without rust, and this time with the addition of waves crashing about, covering the bottom half, as if the steel was put in a fiery, stormy ocean. However, it is only temporary, as the LED screen is only utilized for a few seconds before going dark, save for several deep blue coloured strobe lights that shines, continuing with the lights and LED screens showing a dizzying array of colours and images when the beat intensifies.

Months continue to pass by without notice
Drowning my sorrows into champagne glass feels so good
Whiskey on my glass, add some teardrops on top
My current state of mind, more brittle than sandalwood
You said, i was the worst of all
Yet you’ve never made any calls
Is this the price i’ve paid for being way too tolerant?

As per the first chorus, the stage now shows the same image of waves or river streams crashing about, with several light flashes that were in rhythm to the beat of the song, the audience would feel that this song would repeat the verses and chorus that they have recognized..

Until he belted his high note.

And now you are here breaking my trust
Got me weeping in a cold, stormy night
Thinking there's no reasons to live
You're out here living your best life
And now you are here breaking my trust
Got me weeping in a cold, stormy night
You owe me an apology
You owe me an apology

As he belted his high note, letting every single trace of oxygen out of his lungs. The stage now turns into a bright, fiery orange colour, with the black-colored river stream image that the audience have saw seguing into a fiery, orange-tinged riverstream, like the surroundings around the river were covered with fires, Tim, now finally free of his cuffs, having broke them while he belted his high notes, walked around the centerpoint of the stage, his surroundings covered with multiple arrays of pyrotechnic fires that warm up the surroundings. Tim, finally understanding what freedom is like, sang his heart out, pushing out his vocal range to the maximum he could do, accompanied by several unseen backing singers that complement his voice, almost as if they are engaging in some sort of "conversation".

Tim felt anguished however, this is his first taste of freedom, and he has no idea what to do with it, his face turns from a joyous expression into a strange mix of emotions, with fright presumably being one of them. Tim tries to cover up his ears from hearing the noise of the audience, the noise being an unfamiliar and horrifying cacophony of screams an agony to him, the camera captures all of this perfectly, almost as if it was a bystander trying to capture someone's panic on their phones, complimented with arrays of shots and images that showcase the fiery, hellish landscape that is the Alezian WorldVision stage.

You're more than a heartbreaker
(You're more than a heartbreaker)
Got me got me got me
Cause trustbreaker suits you better
(Yeah...)
Cause trustbreaker suits you better
(You're more than a heartbreaker)
You're more than a heartbreaker
(You're more than a heartbreaker)
Got me got me got me
Cause trustbreaker suits you better
Cause trustbreaker suits you better

After he finished singing, Tim stands still, breathing rapidly, soon after, his smiles widened, with the audience clapping and applauding his performance. "Terima Kasih Alezia!! Thank you Multiverse!!" He shouted into the microphone, before running off backstage, with the stage prepped for the Sharktail performance.

Real Version

Ketika ku mula tersedar, namun kau tiada lagi disampingku.
Kucuba mencari setiap jejak yang kamu tinggalkan,
Diriku, seperti tiada erti lagi dan hatiku bagai hancur berkecai,

Duniaku kini hancur, tiada cahaya, hanya ditemani kegelapan, bagai tiada erti.
Mampukah kau mendengar, rintihan diriku, terlalu merinduimu.

Duniaku kini hancur, tiada cahaya, hanya ditemani kegelapan, bagai tiada erti.
Mampukah kau mendengar, rintihan diriku, kerana terlalu merinduimu.

Duniaku kini hancur, tiada cahaya
Mampukah kau mendengar rintihanku,

Rintihan yang sentiasa kuucapkan,
kini hanya ditemani kegelapan, bagai tiada erti

Mampukah kau mendengar, rintihan diriku, soalan yang sama kutanyakan kepadamu.

Ketika kau pergi, ku dihantui, tiada cahaya, siang atau malam, bagaikan tiada henti. Cinta kita kini, sudah tamat

English Version

When I realized, you are no longer beside me.
I try to find every trace you leave,
Myself, like there is no meaning anymore and my heart is shattered,

My world is now shattered, there is no light, only accompanied by darkness, as if there is no meaning.
Can you hear, my moaning, missing you too much.

As the days passed, my spirit disappeared, as if my life had ended here.
Your voice I remember, remains in my memory, always,
My blind self, no longer taken care of, the memory with you, continues to strengthen my longing.
And all the sweet promises, that you make, float like the wind.

My world is now shattered, there is no light, only accompanied by darkness, as if there is no meaning.
Can you hear, my groans, for missing you so much.

I am lost, in love, wanting to return, with you, to start a new kidah.
When you left, I was haunted, no light, day or night, as if there was no stopping.
Our love is now over. ternoktah ~~

My world is now ruined, there is no light
Can you hear my groans,

The groans I always utter,
now accompanied only by darkness, as if meaningless

Can you hear, my groan, the same question I asked you.

When you left, I was haunted, there was no light, day or night, as if there was no stopping. Our love is now over

Balaganova - Resheniye/Tune: Brodka - Game Change

Balaganova began her career 10 years ago, in 2011, releasing her first album with a moderate success. After this came a few more albums, and they were now pretty popular. Before WV93, Balaganova didn't showed no interest in music competitions, however now she decided to apply for participation in the national selection for this contest and won it)

Now, to the performance. At the beginning, Balaganova stood in the center of the stage. Beams of light stretched from her in all directions. An intersection appeared in the background during rush hour, along which cars and pedestrians moved. Dancers appeared on the stage, which were divided into two parts, standing parallel to each other and began to dance synchronously.

Кто-то стоит, кто-то идёт
Someone is standing, someone is walking

Я же выбираю, как жить
I choose how to live

Знаю я, что мой час пробьёт
I know that my hour will strike

Путь должна я определит
I must determine the path

The dancers, who stood at the edges, made a kind of road, which slowly began to form from rays converging to each other. Balaganova calmly and slowly began to walk forward along this road. On the background, the camera filming the intersection gradually began to decline and approach the ground. When the path of rays was folded, two more roads appeared from it, which diverged in different directions.

Много есть дорог
There are many roads

Которые могу я пройти
On which I can go through

Много и тревог
There are many worries

Что счастье я могу упустить
That I can miss happiness

Before the chorus, the intersection disappeared from the background, it was replaced by a road on which the oncoming road was visible, as if merging with the road that was on the stage. The dancers dispersed along the paths on the stage and began to walk along them, as if on a treadmill. Balaganova began to do the same.

Это решение
This decision

Изменит мою жизнь, и нет пути назад
Will change my life and there's no turning back

Но есть сомнение
But there is doubt

Что всё пойдет к чертям и будет тьма утрат
That everything will go to hell and there will be a lot of losses

The dancers gathered together again and lined up in a line, and Balaganova came to them, after which she turned her back to them and facing the audience. In the background, the view from the camera began to straighten and soon became completely straight. After that, the camera went back a little and now it seemed to be in the car behind the windshield.

Время найти свою судьбу
It's time to find my destiny

И жизнь свою поменять
And change my life

Не знаю я, куда я приду
I do not know where I will come

Но нельзя будет убежать
But there will be no escape

After this verse, the dancers began to jerk Balaganova from side to side, and the light concentrated on the people on the stage, sometimes turning off for a couple of moments. The background remained pretty much the same, except that you could see the driver of the car with the camera tunes the radio. The light also radiated into the hall, but from other spotlights.

Мне придется жить
I will have to live

С последствиями своих решений
With the consequences of my decisions

Нужно не погубить
It is necessary not to destroy

Свою жизнь после всех сомнений
My life after all the doubts

When this verse ended, Balaganova broke free from the dancers' grip and went to the edge of the stage, starting to dance a little. The dancers also began to dance, again in sync. Meanwhile, against the background, the car began to approach the turn, and, in fact, turned, continuing its journey. The light again lined up in a straight line, on which stood the dancers and Balaganova.

Это решение
This decision

Изменит мою жизнь, и нет пути назад
Will change my life and there's no turning back

Но есть сомнение
But there is doubt

Что всё пойдет к чертям и будет тьма утрат
That everything will go to hell and there will be a lot of losses

After the song was over, Balaganova and the dancers bowed to the audience. The singer herself said: "Thank you all! Greetings from Waisnor!"

In the last edition in Anÿme Darkmania, Cikka Mizzi came a very respectable 5th place securing the nation another top ten! It was not enough for a fourth consecutive win but she was still given a heroes welcome on her return to her homeland.

Konsu Farina is a 21-year-old Malta Comino Gozoan based vocalist who loves to sing any kind of genre and is rather versatile but focuses mostly on the genre he is made to sing being pop.

Konsu managed to transmit his voice in a public manner in his country for the first time with his alternative Rock band Radioactive, having been initially suggested to him by his vocal coach, mentor and sister who does so much to him and to assist him in making his dreams come true, Amy Attard (The vocal director and Manager of La Voix Academy). Alongside his band, he has gained so much performing experience after having performed on locally prestigious stages such as The Beerfest, The Wine Fest, The Beland Music Fest and other weekly gigs around bars and pubs in Malta Comino Gozo.

Summer 2020 had been quite an important one to him since he saw his name becoming noted by most of the local Music scene admirers after having participated in his Debut Local Festival being the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2020 with the song 'Inservi' composed By Amy Attard and Elton Zar to the lyrics of Emil Calleja Bayliss and successfully having achieved his first Music award, being that of the Best New Found local Talent. The victory and experience have both encouraged Konsu to keep on running after his many so-called dreams.

Shortly after in November 2020, Farina flew to Densmouth to achieve another one of his biggest dreams being that of becoming a signed artist. He auditioned with Down Town Artists' International Record Label being supported by the Major Label of Warner. Konsu Farina was one of the four international artists chosen amongst the other 450-500 artists who have auditioned and is now heading to Densmouth once every two months to working on this rather soulful record of his dreams with his producers being Ian and Tommy, both founders of this Record who are also helping Konsu fulfil his desires related to lyric- writing because Farina also finds passion in the art of writing and has already published his first Maltese Romance (Rumanz). He always wanted to put both his loved arts together.

Around the Winter Farina, 2020 had been invited by his Excellence-The Prime Minister of MCG, Robert Abela, to being the official performer at The King's Palace in Valletta during an event of Inauguration and had received outstanding feedback from his Loyalty regarding his passion for the Art of Performing. He also had the opportunity to be part of the established cast of Malta Comino Gozoan singers such as Pallix, Simeon, Kartha Gewart and more on the Spiteri Lucas show 'Oldies and Beatles' show last January and received such great feedback that shortly after was requested by two local Radio Stations in order to hand over his own repertoire.

The majority of national and most-watched programs seemed to have entrusted Farina's passion and drive since he has been invited to perform live based television gigs on most of the programs such as Clint on One Strada, Aroma Mattina, Local Angle etc. Farina attends these live gigs wholeheartedly since he really believes in the power of Live Music Entertainment. Konsu Farina believes in dreaming big and in working hard with faith and trust in one's own talent and that's what he will remain doing when it comes to the big part of his life and heart - Music.

Set to acoustic guitar and understated beats, the song’s verses document the story of a faltering friendship/relationship. And as it explodes into life with the soaring hook, the lyrics build in drama as Konsu Farina's blunt statement suggests that there’s no turning back. To convey the ominous nature of the song, Farina makes use of an entrancing melody, which proves to be immediately enrapturing. The song erupts during the emotionally resonant chorus, which feels perfectly primed for mass sing-alongs. Despite the anthemic nature of the tracks, there’s no question that the emotive nature of Farina’s vocal delivery and his introspective lyricism makes this feel like a distinctly personal track. Its deep lyrics dip into depression and mental health with Konsu saying past experiences helped him pen this song. "There were times, I was so struck down with anxiety/depression I just kept thinking to myself I'm a mess."

Konsu had never been to the newly formed Alezian Union. The two countries had very good connections inside and outside the contest, with a diaspora living in both countries. The Malta Comino Gozoan's and Alezians got on splendidly well. This would be the first time this flamboyant and great nation would host WV and it was clear on arrival that the city had really rallied together with flags and banners advertising the show on every streetlight and building possible. They were certainly very proud to be hosting this fantastic contest. Zafizamarrah Al Munawarrah or Zafi (meaning the City of the Lady (either Queens or Princesses) in Buginese) is the current holder of the capital of the Alezian Union. It’s a complicated blend of Bugis, British and Alezian influence means Zafi is a vibrant architectural gem. Zafizamarrah grew to be a major hub in trade due to its perfect sea location. Buginese merchants came to the city hundreds of years later, specifically 1622, in which the Buginese assimilate with the Alezians and created a community of understanding. The Buginese also introduced Maritime Technology, Buginese Language and Food, and Phinisi The British created their influence when the Sultanate fell back in 1799 and created the Colony of North and South Alezia (in which the British quickly pulled out from the South due to its people having problems with the British). Somehow, the British respected the Buginese and Alezians and treated them as equals. Together, these three shaped Zafi to be an international industrial and maritime hub.

Konsu would explore the cities many districts each with its own unique charm, Konsu was very interested in seeing the city from above. On their first day travelling, Konsu and the MCG delegates took in all the sights of this enormous city before travelling to Al Husama Dal Razak, Amlaka, Daranim, Nur Qamma at night to catch a view of the city. Up here you could catch picturesque views of this extraordinary place. The next day they would travel around Isbaraqqi which was the Entertainment Centre of Alezia. He explored the gigantic Mall of Alezia, where acres of consumer products, whatever you could want, it was here and visited the famous Meme Museum of Alezia. Another great thing about this city is its food. There are several famous seafood restaurants in Zafi and no visit to this city could be complete without a feast at one of these restaurants. The fish is fantastic. As a big fish eater himself, Konsu was down to try whatever!

The cheers die down as the postcard end and the hall turns to black. The hall fills with the noise of burning flames as the LED triangles at the back of the stage fill up with fire. Konsu is sat side on, on the floor of the inner circle stage with his head resting on his knees. The camera cuts to a close up onstage view of Konsu, after about 10 seconds Konsu tentatively raises his head and turns to his right to the LED screens at the back of the stage. The close-up camera following him as he does so. After about 16 seconds the music begins to play. Every muscle in his face was tense and without a word, he communicated intense mistrust, anger, depression. It was as if the fire was the reflection of his thoughts, of a broken child who wanted no more than to burn instead of face water. The flames reflected off his shiny hazel eyes. He is wearing dark grey jeans, a black shirt and a white top underneath, his look is very casual. He seemed moulded from a different cast as he had an androgynous look uncommon to most people. Lacquered and enamelled by the fire, he radiated energy and brio. His mountain peak cheekbones appeared chiselled into shape by a master craftsman. They were of such sharp contours, it looked as if they were sculpted and pared to perfection. With eyes as bright and spellbinding as stars, they bewitched all those who fell under his steady gaze. After about 16 seconds the music begins to play and the camera pans with Konsu as he slowly moves his body around and begins to face forward. We are left with a close-up. The flames continue in the background spilling out illuminating the stage in an eerie glow. A dim gold spotlight from the ceiling lights up Konsu in very weak light, just enough for him to be visible but still blending into the eerie darkness of the stage. He raises the microphone in his right hand up to his mouth and begins to sing.

Gathered for my mess
Abandon all that you know
You say that you're not blind
Yet you can't see which way the river flows

This melancholy is a cloak and Konsu can't simply let fall to the floor, and though he holds it so tight he can't find the warmth he needs, yet it clings. It is the anchor to his feet, the reason he can't find the surface or the sunshine, that feeling of soft joy that lives in memories that can't rise within. He fidgets about, losing eye contact momentarily with the camera as he picks away at the stage floor. The camera zooms out ever so slowly and each time he picks at the LED floor around him, colours tinged with warm oranges and browns splashes followed by a ripple appears, like raindrops in a lake. He looks up, as he sings "My sanity".

Lost with my mess
My sanity is not intact
For now
Just your presence and
I second guess
My sanity

He shuts his eyes and runs his left hand through his hair with despair as if to shake the depressive thoughts. He shakes his head side to side "Lost with my mess in my mind" before righting himself upwards onto his knees as he sings "My hearts on fire help me" and abruptly looks at the camera which is now dangling above him.

This solitary joyless drama
Desperate loveless friendship
Lost with my mess in my mind
My hearts on fire help me

The stage instantly explodes with browns and warm orange light as we cut to a stage view. On Konsu's left (our right) we have an elevated platform sloping gently. There are 4 male backing singers, dressed all in black jeans and a black shirt. We hear them accompany Konsu. White spotlights roar upwards from the stage outwards into the audience. The LED's behind him are black but words start to appear and fade into the black behind in. "Fear, Despair, Loser, Depressed, Anxiety, Anger." The camera work for the chorus is chaotic switching views very quickly to resemble the disjointedness of the meaning of the song. It switches around capturing brief angles of his face, shoulders and body. It blurs slightly every so often as he raises his left hand upwards and places it across his chest. Konsu spins around on the spot the camera following him, as he sings the first line. He raises his free hand in anger, grabbing at his head, a look of despair etched on his face. There was hope before. Just a tiny flicker against the wind. With the open eyes of a child he reached out, fingers extended. At that moment they had a choice of kindness or cruelty; it took no time at all for them to decide. The person saw that dying ember and brought the winds to a cold howl. How is your thinking so different from my own, so alien? How is it you see the suffering and choose to make it all the worse?

Lost and thrown away
A heartless broken mess
Lost and thrown away
My life is such a mess
Yeah

The camera steadies itself in front of Konsu and we hear the backing singers again supporting him. Konsu shuts his eyes and sings angrily into his microphone "Ohhh they broke me" despair etched on his sorrowful face.

Ohhh oh ohhh oh they broke me
Ohhh oh ohhh oh please help me

The stage dramatically fades into black again, leaving only Konsu illuminated in a golden spotlight. (Please use this video for reference) After Konsu sings "and disguise" , the LED shards and lights gently fade into an array of black, dark blues and light blues. The vast infinite blues, hovered above them, soft and clear, with dashes of white with little bits of golden light, coming and going, blending and parting an ever-changing constantly silently present. The camera pans along, left to right as he sings "My past I can't hide I guess that I'm broken" Konsu has his eyes closed before opening them again, his eyes twinkling. The camera fades softly onto a close-up shot of the four backing singers standing on their platform swaying simultaneously to the song. They are lit dimly by cool white spotlights.

I just don't know why, why my eyes won't cry
Guess that they are broken by these lies, mask and disguise
My past I can't hide
I guess that I'm broken
For now

We have a quick upper body shot of Konsu which zooms in quickly to his forlorn face before we fade out again to the backing singers. The camera is just right of the singers and pulls outwards.

Lost with my mess
My sanity not intact
For now

The camera now cuts to a boom camera shot from Konsu's side which breathtakingly pulls outwards and upwards. Konsu raises his left fist and opens sit up into an open hand gesturing outward towards the crowd. As the camera pulls outwards we can see that all the audience have white glowsticks and that the stage has filled with rolling fog. The camera backs out even more revealing the entire stage and the shards at the back. The LED's still twinkle. The camera fades back to Konsu as he sings "Dejected madness, broken up" His head slighted tiled he sings emotionally towards the camera lens. His face is engulfed in sadness and anxiety. Tears brimmed in his eyes but he was holding his eyes in such a way that kept the tears inside the lids. His face expresses an agony unseen as of yet also, becoming more noticeable as the camera zooms in.

Adrift from the paradise
Low kindness, far shadows
Dejected madness, broken up
My hearts on fire, please help me

As the chorus begins, Konsu sings softly. The camera pans down from above. Konsu is stood at the edge of the stage illuminated by the spotlights. We can see thousands of glowing lights in the audience glowing amongst the blue and black in a myriad of lights. The stage is dimly lit in blue and remains covered in fog. It pans down until we can see the entire audience. The camera fades into a body shot of Konsu as he sings the last two lines. It steadily makes it way closer until we're left with a facial shot. As he sings the last "My lifes such a mess" the camera fades out ready for the second chorus.

Lost and thrown away
A heartless broken mess
Lost and thrown away
Lost and thrown away
My lifes such a mess
My lifes such a mess

When he sang, it sounded like his voice was made of gravel. His clear tone was undercut with a choking heaviness. His voice quavering in parts but staying professional. Even with the increased intensity of the song and lights, he stands poised and strong, flinging his free arm in a fit of melodic anger, the lights flash white creating added drama and power to each and every word he sings. We have a view from the back of the hall panning left to right above the crowd. The LED's still showing an array of black, dark blues and light blues. The roof of the arena is plunged into blue by dozens of lights adding to the sadness. We then have a fantastic shot from the bottom edge of the stage looking upwards. The backing singers sing "Such a mess such a mess" The stage shimmering and glows as the camera pans left to right again.

Lost and thrown away
A heartless broken mess
Lost and thrown away
My life such a mess
Such a mess such a mess
Yeah

As he sings "They broke me!" the camera zooms towards him from his right before pulling upward and the stage flashes white and the flames reappear. The backing singers are now in full force supporting him. As he sings the last line "Oooh ooh ooh" a tinge of sorrow and desperation could be made out in his voice, like a show of vulnerability. We can hear the roar of the flames in the background. The burning flames become especially apparent and bold as the whole arena turns pitch black, stage included, apart from the orange flames and the single golden spotlight which shines on Konsu like a ray of godly light. The camera fades into black and then fades back into a facial shot. His eyes plead to the camera, shimmering and glaring in the spotlights. His watery eyes closed and a single tear, as clear as spring water flowed down his cheeks. Eventually, he stopped trying and lowered his head as the song ends. The camera fades into black and the music finishes.

Ohhh Ohh Ohhh Oh they broke me
They broke me!
Ohhh Ohh Ohhh Oh please help me!
Please help me!
Yeah!
Oooh ooh ooh

The song finally fades and we're left with the sound of a roaring fire. The stage is completely dark. The lights come back onto reveal Konsu clearing away his tears, he was so proud of his performance. "Thank you! Grazzi! " He said emotionally. The crowd are on their feet applauding! The noise is so loud! As thousands scream and applaud him. He just hoped that he'd done enough. They all exit the stage.

Andrea Gutiérrez-¿Para Qué Vale?

Music & Lyrics: Andrea Gutiérrez

Andrea Marina Gutiérrez Vélez is well know throughout the Achean music industry for her prolific gift for songwriting and lyricism. The natural-born poet from the Second City of Candelaria has always developed a passion for music and geared her passion towards harnessing it for change and reflection. In a musical environment—her father was a music theory professor at the University of Arapaima and moonlighted as a jazz player at a local piano bar, while her mother used to sing at a choir in her local parish church—, she also grew acquainted to the beauty of poetry and its relection to mirror the emotions of its readers through its speakers, the wordplay, the actions, the reactions and—above all—the perception of love in all its splendor. From Baudelaire to Voltair, Andrea Gutiérrez was considered by many to be a musical and poetic prodigy.

This musical legacy led her to compete—and win—in various talent shows throught the Achaean Central region. She also appeared in AS1’s A Toda Máquina, a popular after-school variety show that has always featured the talents of Achaea’s youth. This also led her to a fixed spot at El Klub de los Kacikes, a long-running children’s TV show on rival network ATV in her hometown. But what led her to fame was a brief stint in the first season of Achaean Idol, part of the Idol franchise, on AS1. Then a twenty-year-old, Andrea wowed the jury and charmed the crowd in the Candelaria selections…only to select a few other contestants for the ticket to compete for fame and fortune in Corola. Undeterred, she applied again for the show’s second season; this time, she was able to snag the Top 12 and get her ticket to Corola. Her unusual voice captured the attention of the Achaean Republic and held her steady as the season’s best singer—at least, through the eyes of the nascent social media environment at the time. But unfortunately, this wouldn’t last, for she ended up in third place, knocked out by two other singers many don’t even remember now.

What television rejected, though, meant that Sony Latin America would snatch her up and sign a contract with her for a promotional single, Arrepentida (“Regretful”), which became her very first smash hit and the beginning of her career as a singer and songwriter. She later bundled this single and other songs for her first self-titled CD that earned her platinum in the Achaean Republic and gold in countries like Mexico, as well as the rare five-star review by many music portals and magazines in the Spanish-speaking world. “What matters is not the quantity of songs you can put in an album—there are only ten, three-minute songs in Arrepentida—but each song crafts an emotion, drafts an identity and forces an exploration into the psyche of a woman living her best physical, spiritual, sexual and emotional life,” mentioned one of the critics at Rolling Stole Latinoamérica. For critics and fans alike, it was a mixture of her pure, unfiltered honesty; her relatability; her really dope full-sleeve tattoo, and her trusty black-and-red guitar that have led her to recognition. Andrea’s music gathers the maturity of a broken heart, the wisdom of someone who has lived through hardship in her young age, and the illusions of youth in her raspy voice.

¿Para Qué Vale? (“What’s Its Worth?”) was a song created out of a poem she made after she learned of a breakup one of her best friends was going through. Using her poetic skills and empathy alongside her handy guitar, Andrea was able to craft in passionate words the vagaries of loss and love and how this affects our human constitution. When she was internally selected as the Achaean representative for this edition of the WorldVision Song Contest, the single was released as part of her new project, Tormenteras (“Storm Covers”), coming out in 2022.

Zafizamarrah was a bustling metropolis. From the moment she looked outside the airplane windows, Andrea could see the many concrete skycrapers that dotted the tropical landscape. More so than Corola—and Corola had a few. Even more than Candelaria—and they even had a few. She was also interested to see a synagogue next to a Hindu temple passing by splendorous gilded mosque next to an onion-shaped Orthodox cathedral next to a small Roman Catholic church. There were women wearing hijabs with tight pants holding hands with Slavic-looking men while eating an ice cream. A vendor sold hot dogs next to gado gado—with sliced hot dogs. It was not what she expected of the nation, inasmuch as the Alezians thought about the Achaeans themselves.

She enjoyed hitching a ride and going through random neighborhoods and sampling their dishes. One morning, she went to eat gado gado at a stand near the University of Alezia. At noon, she traveled to the Old City and visited the myriad colonial fortresses and temples and enjoyed some mie goreng with fresh sambal and tropical peppers and spices. At night, she had a nice outing at the Izmamayan River outside of Zafizamarrah and enjoyed some refreshing tea and zipped through the people going about their lives. She imagined how the Alezians dealt with love, sadness, loss and all the emotions humans encounter. Hmm, could this eclectic city serve as inspiration for her new album…?

Andrea was standing behind a microphone closely placed to the end of the stage. Unlike other times, the microphone stand had a ribbon microphone perched atop of it—meaning that Andrea was forced to always stay near it during the performance. She had curly, feathered brown hair that let loose on her shoulders, layered and striking with different earthy tones depending on how the natural light strikes it—a pain to maintain in the tropical Achaean heat.
She also eschewed any expensive wardrobe choices, too, preferring to wear ripped blue denim jeans she bought at WalMart and a sleeveless button-down pink blouse she bought at Amazon because it matched her jeans and showed off her sleeve tattoo. Regarding footwear, Andrea had a back-and-forth with the fashion consultant—already low-key horrified with the singer’s fashion choices—over wearing pumps, flats, or sneakers. Even if the fashion consultant wanted Andrea to wear pumps to give her an elongated frame and a feminine presence (as if she needed any more!), Andrea switched her shoes in a last-minute switcheroo for some comfortable Cariuma rose canvas sneakers she bought a few days before the trip.

Compared to previous WorldVision performances, where dance and movement was prized, flashy special effects were at a premium and sex was on full (and sometimes tasteless) display, this setup was reminiscent of a recording studio than a concert environment. Behind Andrea, there was a pianist with an iPad tablet beside his Yamaha keyboard. Beside him, a guitarist. On the other side, a drummer. Next to the drummer, an instrumentalist with a small maraca on his left hand and a tambourine on the right hand. In the immensity of the stage in Zafizamarrah, the performers were perched in a small, forward-facing portion of the arena, which slightly disoriented Andrea. This also led the delegation to face a very important dilemma: How can they create intimacy in a such an enormous stage?

The song began and Andrea was perched on her microphone, her eyes half shut, trying to focus on the song. The top-side cameras gleaned at the contrast between the cheering crowd, slowly focusing in on the stage, and then on the performers, and then on Andrea. Then, the first keys from the piano could slowly be heard, the pianist effortlessly moving his fingers within the oftentimes white-and-black keys and humming the rhythm in his head. He was a perfectionist; he had to be. It was in his nature, his intimate nature, to deliver his best even if it came to be the worst.

Andrea began to sing, and the musicians began to perform. They were each attempting to grow into the flow of the music just as before (even if they were meant to mime their performance as per WorldVision rules, they had to put the effort as if they were playing the song as usual). Andrea, however, needed to sing as effortlessly and flawlessly as usual, her raspy, sultry voice and all, to the benefit of the cheering throngs of the Alezian crowd. It was quite hard to get the Multiverse—especially Alezians as hosts—to change perceptions of the Achaean Republic as a histrionic, lawless hellhole filled with petty crime and bathhouses for discrete men. But she wasn’t going to try this time.

Behind her, the LED screens transformed into bulging white dots that scattered throughout the triangles. In front of her, the crowd began to wave their hands and their phones as if they were being crooned at in a power ballad. No sonars. No fireworks. No complicated dance moves that may or may not become viral on TikTok. It was a return to simplicity, a transformation of the National Arena into a galaxy of artificial stars.

El velo de mi boca se ha rasgado
En vano procuré una salida
Pues no quiero destruir mis sentimientos
Cuando buscaba paz y no agonía
Trillada se secaba mi garganta
Clamando por quien sane mis heridas
Aún no quiero retirarme hasta la esquina
Cuando vivir se convierte una razón.

It was honestly hard to sing about a failed relationship when everything is going well with yours. It was harder, though, to project the emotions the subject of her music felt when she was recounting the story of their failure. Details are quite hazy now, but she remembered her friend was on the verge of tears, lamenting how despite years of work and commitment and attitude in the partnership. The dates. The days and weeks of moving into a new apartment, and then a bigger one. The lifetime trip to Paris and Rome and Athens. The lovemaking under the stars while camping at night near the Lake. The many times they had ice cream at night in the Ciudad Colonial. And then, she had to feel that things suddenly fizzled.

She couldn’t love him anymore. And she couldn’t explain why. She…didn’t. No one else was looking for her. No one else she lusted. What was this whole experience worth if she could never explain why she had to leave.

She simply left.

No sé cuál es precepto del fracaso
¿Para qué Vale?
O cuánto se lucha por alevosía
¿Para qué vale?
Una caña sacudida por el viento
No se escuchará

The cameras inside the National Stadium showed how the lights were dimmed so they could only show the reflections of the lights in the stage behind Andrea and the crowd below. Most audience members turned their cellphones, flashlights, and cameras on and waved them in the air in an impromptu symphony. Wave it to the left. Wave it to the right. Wave it to the left again. Wave it to the right again. Not many Alezians in the audience understood Spanish, but they could understand the feelings and emotions behind its lyrics. Not many Achaeans were in the audience, either—but those that did travel against the government’s wishes (and were risking fines and fourteen-day quarantines for pulling up with such foolishness), but the few that were present and scattered throughout the audience could sing the lyrics to heart.

With the cameras focused back to the stage, Andrea sang through the second stanzas. Unlike other times, Andrea limited her interactions with the band behind her and placed herself in between the crowd. Normally, she would move around with her handmade guitar—now closely perched beside a chair on a side where Andrea was standing—and would sing with the musicians. This time, though, she laid with her eyes half-closed, slowly grabbing her microphone, trying to portray the emotions one experiences while losing something that was once done.

The LED floor below her suddenly converted into a long, expansive highway reminiscent of the ones the performers constantly encountered back in Achaea. The cameras showed the intricate details of the shadows of palm trees and bushes dotting the floor; the potholes; the rusted manhole covers; the iguanas one tried to swerve and pass by as they caught some sun so they could heat up their blood. It was an interesting choice—Andrea suggested it, despite using the clogged Los Angeles freeways and the city’s nightly cityscape for her music video. But the road, any road, was needed. She needed to show that the pain of what is lost and never found can be lost in time forever.

Ironic, isn’t it? She had to portray sadness when she was not feeling it. She had to feature longing when she is not lacking anything. But alas, that is the life of a singer—confined to the fear of falsehood, resigned to eternal honesty in short bouts. Would the crowd understand her despite not singing in English? Is she being honest enough, raw enough, broken enough to appease her critics and win over her heartbroken fans?

No sé cuál es precepto del fracaso
¿Para qué Vale?
O cuánto se lucha por alevosía
¿Para qué vale?
Una caña sacudida por el viento
No se escuchará

The bird’s eye view of the cameras showed the LED-converted floor into a road, Andrea laying stoically in the end of the stage, the musicians surrounding her playing (or at least miming) their instruments, the lights and the audience surrounding them and joining in their lights, singing (or at least trying to phonetically follow the Spanish lyrics) and swaying to the left and right. For the few Achaeans on stage, especially those that experienced loss, they could be seen with tears streaming on their face, trying to blow their nose with any thread they could find. The cameras tucked into the crowd could witness the reflective, pensive tone and transmit that into the air.

Reflective…Pensive…that is how Andrea always wanted to portray in her work. She wanted to pour her heart and soul on everything she did, revealing her raw brokenness without fear. She wanted to banish away the fear of showing pain, fear of being wrong, fear of being hurt and afraid and dead. That needed to go away. That she wanted to take away. And that was an honestly complex proposal to pitch to the Achaean delegation. Not that it wasn’t done before, mind you—after all, there is a reason they have won the World Hit Festival twice.

But in this creatively complex endeavor called WorldVision, would a heartfelt tune be enough to pull into the heartstrings and convince the Multiverse to vote for the Achaeans?

No sé cuál es precepto del fracaso
¿Para qué Vale?
O cuánto se lucha por alevosía
¿Para qué vale?
Una caña sacudida por el viento
No se escuchará

Cargo todos mis sueños…

The crowd cheered for the Achaean entry as Andrea bowed with her head in thankfulness. “¡Gracias! Thank you!” Andrea said to the crowd and waved her hands alongside the crowd. Before she exited the stage with her crew, she wanted to soak in the energy of Zafizamarrah one more time. She needed it. She wanted it. For a moment, she was responsible for it. Perhaps it would be enough to remind herself of the things that were gained and then lost. Perhaps it would be enough to try again.

The veil in my heart has been broken
I looked for an exit in vain
Because I don’t want to destroy my feelings
When I was looking for peace and not agony
My throat was feeling trite and dry
Clamoring for someone to heal my wounds
Even I don’t want to retire until the corner
When living becomes its only reason

I don’t know what is the precept of failure
What’s its worth?
O how much you fight for treason
What’s its worth?
A reed swayed by every breath of wind
Will not be heard

The nerve to have so much elegance
The distance you carry on your knees
And the sun that illuminates its pieces
Are precepts that leave you without measure
Why do I fight if I die and I still fight
And I fought for fighting some day?
Even so, into the world I will smile
Another day I will look for a bit of color.

I don’t know what is the precept of failure
What’s its worth?
O how much you fight for treason
What’s its worth?
A reed swayed by every breath of wind
Will not be heard

I don’t know what is the precept of failure
What’s its worth?
O how much you fight for treason
What’s its worth?
A reed swayed by every breath of wind
Will not be heard

I carry all my dreams…

Imogene - The End of the World

Tune: Lea Porcelain - Pool Song

Image
Left to right: Danny Abbiati (synths, keyboards, backing vocals), Nico Abbiati (bass, guitar, lead vocals), Peter Keenan (drums), Ari Berman (guitar, backing vocals). Taken from the “making-of” for this song’s music video, where the four took a break in between takes.

Domenico Abbiati, or Nico for short, was born in Cross Plaza, SHNR, on the 4th of May, 1991, just over a year after his older brother Danny (or Daniele Jordan Abbiati, born 17th January 1990). The son of a restaurateur originally from Parma and his wife who co-owned it, he had a long-standing interest in music ever since he was young. From constantly making music to his youth by banging on stuff to constantly listening to the radio, it seemed like he was destined for a career in music. Eventually, when he turned 13, his parents decided to get him a bass guitar, primarily because it was on offer and because they figured it’d be the best way to sort him out. Although he was part of a couple of bands in high school and university, nothing really panned out for him fame-wise and he put his dreams on hold to get his degree. In 2012, shortly after he graduated from university following his degree in music, he joined the hard rock band Mothra following a couple of auditions, where he would not only record one album (2013, which was both the album name and the year it was released) and go on tour but would also meet drummer Peter Keenan (born February 28th, 1989), who had joined the band a couple of years earlier, initially as a tour drummer before eventually being a proper member in his own right.

In September 2015, three years after he had joined the band, Nico amicably left Mothra due to a lack of interest in the band’s direction. Taking Peter with him, they decided to form a new band. After a couple of performances with varying names (including Frozen Wastescapes and Seventeen and Rising, both of which would be the names of their first two EPs), they decided on the name Imogene. When asked about the origins of the band’s name, Peter said “We liked the name Imagine but I also wanted to do a tribute to my daughter Imogen, who was born around the time the band was formed. So we stuck an E at the end, pronounced the end result as ‘Im-o-jeen’ and called it a day.”

After the release of their first two EPs in late November that year, the band hired their first new member in Danny Abbiati. While Danny didn’t show much of a musical side growing up compared to his younger brother, he did however get a bit more into it once he got into high school even going as far as deciding to join the music club in order to learn how to play keyboards, as he figured it was an easier instrument to learn. While he still decided to get a degree in mathematics just so he had something to fall back on, he still carried on with his mild interest in music, which eventually led to him joining his younger brother’s band. His arrival saw the band move to a more electronic and danceable direction, which showed when the band decided to rework their two debut EPs, as well as produce a few new tracks for their debut album, which was A Self-Titled Affair.

Shortly after the release of A Self-Titled Affair in January 2016, the band went out on a brief mini-tour. To cover up their lack of a live guitar, having to resort to either samples or using keyboards to create a similar sound in the studio, the band decided to hire an actual guitarist. After a few concerts with guest guitarists from other bands (including Nico and Peter’s former Mothra bandmate Liam Murphy and Acorazado guitarist Frank Bernardo), they eventually went with former guitarist of The Lads and the Lasses Ari Berman (born 15th November, 1991), who finished off the tour with them. However, not only did they enjoy his company but his style completely meshed with what they were going for which resulted in him becoming a permanent member once the tour was over and done with. Following a short break for real-life stuff as well as recording demos, they got to work on their second album.

Their second album, Six Hours, was released in April 2017 to rave reviews. Some critics even heralded it as the beginning of the second generation of the Cross Plaza Scene - an alternative rock movement well-known for its electronic, dancey bent and slight emphasis on the bass, popularised by bands such as Beret, Hardware Store and the aforementioned The Lads and the Lasses - so called because the vast majority of bands hail from Cross Plaza. With songs such as “Calmly”, “Not That Bad”, and “Yesterday” reaching #1 in the indie charts, with the last song even reaching the general top 20 in the music charts (peaking at #17), they were still popular enough to have their songs used here and there (with their music videos being a bit of a bonus) but still obscure enough to have hipster cred. A tour then followed which saw them leave the country for the first time as a group.

Following the widely successful tour, the band decided to release another EP, simply called Snuff (not named after what you’re thinking of but rather the type of smokeless tobacco, with the CD itself designed to look like an old tin of the stuff). Consisting solely of songs that didn’t make the cut onto the album, it still proved to be somewhat successful despite the name. Though no tour came afterwards, they still did a couple of performances to promote the album. However, right afterwards, things went quiet from them. A new single was released in early 2019, which turned out to be the first from them in a while, but fans were still left wondering what was going on.

Fortunately, in August 2019, they announced that they had begun work on a follow-up album. Deciding to use their old band title Seventeen and Rising as the name for it, it was released in February 2020 to rave reviews, with the song “Worlds Apart” not only being the first single but also being a highlight of the album. After all, it was their entry for the 78th WorldVision Song Contest, which came fourth with 78 points (and it managed to nab a single set of 12 points from Kalosia and a few 10s from other countries as well), so why wouldn’t it. However, plans for another international tour had to be put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, although they haven’t ruled out going on it when things have died down long enough for them to embark on it without worrying about contracting anything.

After instead going on what they dubbed Internetional Tour to make up for it, the band would eventually get to work on their next album. Titled Antifreeze, it not only had more of a post-punk edge to it but it was also a bit darker than their earlier work. This was due to a number of reasons such as the pandemic that would ultimately claim Nico’s sister-in-law and would nearly put the brothers’ parents out of a job but also Ari and his wife separating in April 2021 after six and a half years of marriage, although they are both weighing their options while they take a break from each other before seeing if he should hand her a get to sign. The album was released in early June the same year to rave reviews, with a number of critics calling it their best work to date. And with the first song from the album not only charting well but also winning the domestic televote portion of ElejamieVision 92, even if it didn’t win the NF itself, it’s just a question of whether or not the public will like the album as much as the critics...

In the last competition, Elejamie were represented by Peter Evans, best known by his DJ name IyilRifim. Together with his second cousin Deni Merinil, they sent the song Falling Into The Abyss. The nation was finally becoming optimistic about the competition again as not only did they reach fifth with a well-hosted contest on home soil but they managed their first podium spot since WV77 with their third place in Carrelie with a song that finished second with the juries. So, naturally, the bar had been set high for the duo. It probably didn’t help that the song had finished first with the international juries with 44 points. It finished second in the domestic televote but as it was four points ahead in total, it still managed to win the national final. The two then travelled over to Darkmania and, after a week of quarantine followed by weeks of rehearsals, they performed their song. They then sat back and waited for the votes to come in, where they were hoping that it'd be good enough to carry on the top ten streak they were starting to build.

Unfortunately for the duo, the voting seemed a bit disconcerting. Despite being among the favourites to win, they received two 1 points in a row at the beginninv, firstly from newcomers Filshia and then from Beepee, the nation that came joint last with them at WorldVision: The Teams. Indeed, despite receiving a spattering of points, they were high enough to see Elejamie in 7th place with 42 points by the half-time mark; an 8 from Malta Comino Gozo, a 7 from Nekoni and Kalosia, a 6 from Scotatrova and a 10 from Adab certainly helped, as well as the obligatory 5 from Placely Placington. More of the same happened and eventually they finished in 9th place with 82 points. This was helped not only by their sole 12 courtesy of the Achaean Republic but also a 6 from Antahbrantahstan, a 7 from Caryton, a 5 from Britonisea and two sets of 2s from the other newcomers Bahia Roja as well as Todlichebujoku. Fortunately, the viewers at home were kinder as they received 84 points total to finish in 6th place with 166 total points, tying with the Alezian Union but finishing ahead on tie-breakers. While the contest wasn’t exactly as thrilling as the two before it, it still saw its fair share of noteworthy moments: Waisnor’s top ten streak continued with an 8th place finish, hosts Darkmania completely bombed at the contest when they finished 23rd, Malta Comino Gozo’s top five streak continued with a 5th place finish and Kalosia’s entry finished 2nd with the juries but completely bombed with the televotes where it finished 19th (!), although fortunately Lucia Edin was still able to come away with a top ten finish when she placed 9th total. But, most noteworthy of all, Nekoni’s very own Cidade de Deus won the contest by quite a large margin with their song Defiant; 235 points compared to second placed Beepee’s 192.

It was still a good result and, as such, ETV gave the go-ahead for the second placed entry to compete at the 93rd WorldVision Song Contest in Zafizamarrah over in the Alezian Union. The song was called The End of the World and it was performed by Imogene, an act who had previously participated at the contest. The song itself may have only gotten one 5 point courtesy of Adab, as well as a single 1 from Antahbrantahstan, but the 4s it got from Carrelie, Rhim Flavezztowland, Pemecutan, Polkopia, Beepee, Scotatrova and Waisnor was enough to see it finish with a comfortable second with 38 points with the jury. The domestic televote was a bit more forgiving as it saw a number of 5s (including one from the band’s home tract of Shiner) and actually won it but finished four points behind IyilRifim and Deni Merinil.

However, as previously stated, it wasn’t their first time competing at the contest as they were at the 78th edition hosted in Valletta, Malta Comino Gozo. There, they finished in fourth place with the song Worlds Apart. As this was back when there was only one set of points instead of the jury/televote split there is now, they only got 87 points. Not to mention that by the half-time mark they were third with 43 points. While some would argue that this seemed a bit low, the fact that winners Kalosia (who had given Imogene their sole 12), second placed Todlichebujoku and third placed Izmedu finished 37, 35 and 15 points ahead of them respectively gave everyone a good idea of what the top three was like. On the plus side, other than the aforementioned solitary 12, it also received 10s from Nekoni and Mister X, as well as 8s from Estogium and Nahlcomo and 7s from Ruritane and the Achaean Republic so at least it still had some love from other countries. Not to mention that it was a good result that the band were hoping to build off of, although given that Patricio Esposito, who had finished second at the 75th contest, finished in 14th place a few editions ago they didn’t want to get too ahead of themselves.

Either way, they had packed their belongings and made the trek over to the Alezian Union. After quarantining themselves for a week even with the band being fully vaccinated, not only due to government guidelines but also due to uncertainty over the different strains that keep popping up, they were ready to hit the town. The trip wasn’t without some awkwardness due to the left-handed Nico using the wrong hand to hold his utensils and Peter nearly having a conversation in the metro, but it wasn’t something they couldn’t work around. Not to mention that Ari was still able to attend a synagogue for Yom Kippur, so it wasn’t all bad. As for what they did while they were out and about? The usual, really. Dining out and visiting some local museums, with the Meme Museum being the most notable out of the lot they’ve visited. There were also trips to the farmer’s market and a couple of excursions to the Mittawaqul district of the city. And, finally, Peter decided to take part in one of the one-hour courses at the local university, partly because he had nothing really to do and partly because he was the only member of the band who never completed university (instead dropping out due to his music career taking off) so he figured that he might as well have a crack at the subject he was studying before he left: history. Indeed, they even set up an impromptu acoustic set there the following day to try and endear themselves to some of the locals; while it may have lasted 20 minutes and saw only 45 people turn out, it still got a bit of love from those who showed up, although whether that love will translate to televote points is anyone’s guess.

When asked about the song, bassist and lead singer Nico Abbiati said “It’s literally about the end of the world. And you’re sitting on high ground with a loved one - a lover, a family member, a friend, an animal companion - and you’ve made your peace with everyone and everything. You’re just hoping that whoever you’re with is feeling the same way because you’re scared of dying alone throughout this whole thing and you don’t want them to leave you when the inevitable happens. And with everything that had happened the previous year, I wouldn’t be surprised if people thought that it was really the end of the world.”

However, the performance would be a very special one for one member. In an interview, drummer Peter Keenan said that he would be dedicating the performance to Yogi, his pet Beepeean Shorthair cat who had sadly passed away at the age of 14 two weeks before he was due to jet off to Zafizamarrah: “I noticed how he was getting on a bit with the years while I was making that album and while we were all in lockdown. But in the last few weeks I noticed that he seemed to be very ill. He could barely stand, he didn’t seem to be eating much, just a whole load of problems. And when I took him to the vet she said that there was nothing that she could do, so I had to make the hard decision to put him down. It pained me to do it but at least he wasn’t alone when he had to go. This one’s for you bub, I miss you every day.”

Blue - Nico Abbiati
Purple - Nico + backing singers
Pink - Backing singers only

Once the postcard came to an end, we then cut to the audience applauding as the camera slowly zoomed in to the stage in front of everyone. Once again, we get a header that not only gives the name of the artist and the song itself but also the information about who composed the song and wrote the lyrics; while each individual member did the former, as they normally do with each song they make, this was one of the few songs where only one person wrote the lyrics. Normally both Ari and Nico would write each song together but in this case it was just Nico himself working on the lyrics. As the camera moved closer to the stage, the props on the big inner circle became more visible. On the left was a simple rowing boat with a figure inside along with a microphone and a stand built into it, on the right a giant circular podium with the other three members behind it. Once the camera got to a certain distance, the cheering died down and it was time for the performance to begin.

Indeed, shortly before the song began the lights dimmed. When it finally started, a couple of lights shone down on the band, one over the boat and another over the podium, as well as a few lights at the bottom of the stage shining in the band’s direction. The camera even cut to the top left side of the stage, although the cut happened a fraction of a second before the song itself actually started but fortunately it was one of those moments where you had to rewatch it a few times to actually notice it. The camera concentrated on the spot for a few seconds before it slowly panned to the right, tilted down and zoomed out a bit to show the entire stage. There, it revealed that the backing video in the triangle was an intentionally blurry GIF of a forest at night, with some stars twinkling in the background and the entire thing looking like it’s slowly shifting to the right while it loops around. The floor itself was made to look like a slow running stream, although the podium looked a dull shade of grey with a few white streaks as if they were playing on a giant flat-topped rock while the boat was mainly white with a brown trim and deck, no oars and a few numbers in black on both sides of the bow. Other than that, as well as a simple light that’d end up being used later, the stage was completely free of props. Furthermore, they all had the same equipment as they did at their last WorldVision performance, so they didn’t have to worry about getting any new equipment for their second go-around.

Ten seconds after the song began the cellos started to kick in, something they had sampled from an old classical music performance from a vinyl record that Danny had bought at a charity shop and something they added because they felt it added that emotional gravitas to the song, especially since they couldn’t find someone who could play it for them and synthesised cellos didn’t end up sounding right for them. Thirteen seconds after that, his brother Nico started to sing the first verse of the song. At that point, the camera slowly zoomed into him and revealed what he was wearing; a black jumper that was unzipped, a blue t-shirt that appeared to have a design on it but the zip was obscuring most of it, a pair of blue jeans and a pair of black shoes. He was also looking down at the ground as he was singing, although by the fourth line he was starting to slowly look up at the audience. Just before the start of the fifth line, there was a cut to a close-up of Ari’s hands as he strummed his guitar before we returned to Nico singing the line. When he was finished with that, there was another cut to Ari strumming his guitar but this time it was a medium shot, showing the audience back home what he was wearing. A khaki-coloured field jacket, a black shirt with a skeleton hand making a peace sign, a pair of khaki coloured cargo pants and a pair of black and white trainers, as well as a silver wristwatch that also doubled as a family heirloom. The camera then switched back to Nico again for the sixth line but, before it ended, it then cut back to Ari strumming on his guitar.

Armageddon is upon us
We will soon be gone
It’s just you and me here
Don’t want to be alone
We’re just waiting for the end
When all is said and done

And then Nico immediately segued into the chorus. As he did so, the camera immediately cut to a full-frontal medium shot of him. He wiggled his head a little bit as he sang the first line before we then got a shot from behind his brother, with both cameraman and keyboardist the recommended 2m away from each other. The camera was pointing down at an angle and it was showing a close-up of Danny pressing four keys on his keyboard, as well although he slowed down a bit with each key press. When they first recorded the song Danny nearly forgot what the right notes were but they liked it enough to keep it in the final product, which was why he did that. When it was time for Nico to sing the next line the camera returned to the same full-frontal medium shot of him plucking away on his bass while he sang the line. Much like the first time, he wasn’t staring into the camera but rather staring at the audience right in front of him, mostly because he felt that staring into the camera while you sang would unnerve the audience a bit but also because he wanted to actually show he was singing to them.

And now,
Will you stay and wait with me?

After Nico sang that last line, the camera then cut to a shot of Danny playing his keyboard but the difference is that this was taken from the front. He was dressed in a red and blue flannel shirt that was buttoned up all the way, a black undershirt, a pair of black jeans and the same type of shoes as his brother albeit in black and white. He was also playing the keys at a normal speed, much like he would throughout the rest of the song. Shortly afterwards, the few lights that were shining down upon the band grew brighter, as did the backing video on the triangle behind them and the projection on the stage beneath them. Peter’s drumming also became a bit more animated, as evidenced by him not only hitting more parts of his kit but also by how fluid his movements were compared to him intentionally robotically playing the bass drum and the snare during the first portion of the song. He was also wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, a pair of black trousers and a pair of black and white loafers.

The camera then returned to Nico as he sang the first line before the camera then cut over to the podium as Ari and Danny joined in for the second line. Then it went back to Nico for the third line before it went back to a close-up of Ari singing the fourth line alongside an off-screen Nico and Danny. For the fifth line, we then cut to a side shot of the band performing, with Nico and his boat closest to the camera followed by his brother Danny, then Peter and finally Ari in the background. Then for the sixth line we then cut to a shot of Danny providing his backing vocals while he was playing his keyboard, although the camera was tilted upwards slightly. The seventh line was another shot of them from the side but with the positions reversed, so that Ari was closest to the camera and Nico was furthest, before the eighth line was just a wide shot of the band on the stage playing their instruments and Nico, Ari and Danny singing their lines, although towards the end of the line the camera slowly zoomed in to a shot of Nico.

The stars are slowly dimming
They’ll fade to nothingness
The people are going mad now
I don’t know what’s next
Black hole or supernova
Or alien attack
No matter which one we get
At least you’re by my side

Once again it was time for the chorus, except this time Nico, Ari and Danny segued into it instead of just the first one by himself. The camera kept zooming in as they sang the first line and Nico sang the second line before it slowly panned over to Danny as he pressed the keys. The camera kept on Danny during the third line before it slowly panned back to the left over to Nico. Perfect timing too as he was near the end of the fourth line when the camera was back on him, where it stayed at the same exact shot throughout the fifth line. After that, nearly all of the lights and the backing video on the triangle cut out as we got a wide aerial shot of the stage. The only sources of light came from the dark blue water projection on the stage floor and the light behind the band, which pulsed a medium white at a medium speed. The camera then went to a close-up of Nico’s face as he sang the sixth line in some level of darkness before it then returned to the same wide shot as earlier.

And now
Will you stay and wait with me?
And now
Will you stay and wait with me?
And now
Will you stay and wait with me?

After staying with that shot for a few more seconds before we cut over to Peter drumming, which also coincided with the lights and the rear display being turned back on. They were just as bright as they were earlier, although something seemed to be up with the video behind them. One part of it appeared to have a slight red filter to it, another part appeared even brighter while another part seemed to be darker, a different part didn’t seem to be moving at all and a final part seemed to be fuzzy and glitching out, as if it was an old television set that needed a bit of percussive maintenance to work properly. The other three shards were working properly. And all of this was intentional, partly to symbolise what the song was about but also as a compromise between the band who wanted the same GIF played as is throughout most of the song and the producers who suggested using different shards for different video clips. Meanwhile, throughout the rest of the instrumental break, we then cut to a medium shot of Nico, who was strumming along on his bass before the camera slowly panned to the right and stopping every so often to get a good shot of each band member playing their instrument. After Nico we then get Danny with his fingers on his keyboard before we move onto Peter playing his drums before finally coming to Ari strumming his guitar. Everyone had a neutral expression on their face, either because they were deeply concentrating while they were performing their entry or because they didn’t know what to make while they were doing that without it ending up ruining things.

When it was time for Nico to sing again, the camera cut to a close-up shot of him singing the first half of the first line before he looked down at the ground. There was a brief cut to Ari strumming his guitar before it returned to Nico, who finished singing the line while he slowly shook his head. He sang his bit of the first line while the camera returned to Ari who provided the backing vocals. When it was time for the third line, the camera returned to the same shot of Nico, although it was a bit zoomed out. Indeed, throughout the entire outro, the camera would bounce back and forth between Nico and Ari, depending on who was singing. Occasionally, there were cuts to Danny who was not only singing as well but also pressing the keys of his keyboard. Partway through the sixth line, the camera then cut over to Peter while he was banging his sticks against his drums. He also appeared to have tears in his eyes and a few of them slowly rolled down his face, due to the emotional climax of the song and the lyrics reminding him of his sadly-deceased cat. Fortunately, not only were they not really that visible due to the lighting and the angle of the shot, but also the camera didn’t linger on him for too long as it cut over to Nico. Furthermore, throughout the entire verse, different shards of the backing screen turned into static before fading into a black screen, all in a completely random order that changed even during rehearsals. The camera would keep bouncing back and forth between Nico and Ari, with the odd stop at Danny, all at different angles and sometimes different distances, before we reach the last line of the song. At that point, Ari sang it as he slowly shook his head, slowly tilting his head to the ground.

And now it’s time
It’s time (Armageddon is upon us)
It’s time
Don’t go, don’t go, don’t go, don’t go

(Armageddon is upon us)
Just hold on, just hold on, just hold on, just hold on
(Armageddon is upon us)
Just hold on (Don’t go)
Just hold on, just hold on, just hold on, just hold on
(Don’t go)

There was no long outro after the last line. Instead, while Ari was singing that last line, the camera then cut over to Peter banging the drums one last time. He still had tears in his eyes, except this time the cameras and therefore the audience at home had a much easier time picking it up. In the background, the last shard of the triangular display behind the band faded from static to a black screen. Once he finished playing his instrument, the camera changed to a wide shot of the stage as Danny took his fingers off the keyboards just to let it all fade out. Everyone simply looked down at the ground as the synths faded out and the lights started to dim around them, along with the floor projection fading from a water display to a completely blank stage before it turned off entirely.

The audience didn’t wait for the fade-out to end before they started applauding. It wasn’t necessarily a huge one but, as evidenced by the sound of the crowd and the cuts to the audience revealing that some were clapping and cheering them on, it was enough to make the four feel loved. While the cameras were concentrating on the crowd, the band left their instruments on the podium and walked to the front of the stage. Except for Nico, who put his bass guitar down in the boat and then picked up the microphone out of the stand. The four then took a big bow before Nico held his mic up to his mouth. He said two things, the first was a phrase in his father’s first language and the second in his and his brother’s but they both meant the same thing: “Grazie. Thank you.” Afterwards the four carried whatever instruments they could and put them in storage while the stage was being made ready for the next act; it also gave Peter ample time to dry his eyes. They eventually returned to their seats and sat down for a breather. While they were satisfied with the performance, it was now just a question of whether or not lightning would strike twice for them or if it'd end up being a total dud. Hopefully it'd be the first one.

BACKGROUND

The Alezian Union once again returned for its 4th time participating since reunification earlier this May. During it's time, the Alezian Union has recorded excellent results with all previous participation resulting in a top 10 position. For its debut, the Alezian Union held a national Alma, inviting all regions of the Alezian Union to send two songs and artists to duke it out in a National Competition to decide who'll represent the entire union in Avon, Elejamie back before Worldvision Song Contest 90. To the surprise of everyone in the nation, South Alezian Girl Group "QUARTER AGAIN" wins the Golden Mask and went on to represent the nation, bringing home 10th place.

After that, ABA created a local rule that in order to make sure that every region has participated in the Worldvision Song Contest, all regions are put in a cycle system starting from North Alezia, and then running clockwise to Pantabang Islands, South Alezia, and Mosin Nagan before an Alma was held.

Using this cycle, North Alezia represented the union with the band FIRE using the song of the same name in Worldvision 91 in Haufenburg, Carrelie. The song received 8th place. After that, Pantabang Islands flew the flag in Anyme, Darkmania with NESIANA's "I Am Lady Night", receiving 7th place.

In Worldvision Song Contest 93, ABA decided that it's the best time to try and bid for host again after previous failures. Previously, ABA predicted that it won't host due to strong opposition from Marina Point in Nekoni and Kumswalo in Zamboodle. Initially, due to it being South Alezia's turn to represent the country, ABA planned to bid for hosting the competition in Doorsbreeken, South Alezia. However, infrastructure limitations scrapped the plan, bringing the competition to Zafizamarrah instead.

To the surprise of the entire nation as the announcement was broadcasted in ABA Channel 1, Zafizamarrah has been announced as the host of the entire competition. Alezian celebrated the fact that the contest is FINALLY coming to their home country.

Using the cycle rule, South Alezia still has to fly the flag again for the union, internally selecting Elstrou Maatscheld to the competition and then holding a televised selection for the song, with international juries invited to vote.

Eleanstrouen Marielle Maatscheld or shortened to Elstrou Maatscheld is a new and upcoming Alezian singer coming from South Alezia. She was born in 18th of May 1990 to Haalstouw Maatscheld and Lilie Maatscheld (nee Ertouwen) in Doorsbreeken, South Alezia. Like any other South Alezian who can afford to, she and her family escaped to North Alezia when the military dictatorship (with the dolls, oranges, and many more) happened.

She moved to Zafizamarrah, North Alezia from South Alezia in 1999, which is not a very hard process considering that North Alezia welcomes South Alezians who wanted to move to North Alezia. Even far away from home, she was still taught Dutch and Indonesian, two official languages of South Alezia. However, sadly, during that time, Elstrou was discriminated in school for being South Alezian and not using a "North Alezian" name. But fortunately, the laws of anti-discrimination (which was brought by Mukhlis Krasnaya Novogrody in 1989, only to be officialized by Dariq Authoriq in 1999) brought justice to Elstrou, inspiring her to study law.

In the present, Elstrou is currently studying her last year in the University of Alezia, doing Law Studies. She said that she wanted to be a lawyer in the future. Other than Law, she also has interest in music, often listening to music from North Alezia and even abroad. She imagined being in a competition for North Alezia at one point, but she shrugged it off...

Elstrou with her parents moved back to Doorsbreeken after reunification. Her law study continued smoothly due to online connections (that has just been restored to its fullest extent) allowing her to study from far. During this time, the ABA are spreading news about them finding a South Alezian singer to represent the country in the 93rd Worldvision Song Contest, and Elstrou signed up to the internal selection with confidence. And with that confidence, she got to represent the country. But with what song? Elstrou immediately went searching for composers that wanted to do this whole thing with her, and thanks to that, Elstrou submitted three songs to the ABA, and ABA decided to hold a nationally televised competition. In the end, the song "Dammit I'm In Love Again" (or Dammit I Fell In Love Again, both worked) got selected by few international juries.

SONG INFO

"Dammit I'm In Love Again" is a song based on Elstrou's best friend's story of falling in love for the fifth time around two months ago, after numerous previous dates and breakups. The way that she's just planning on walking around Doorsbreeken's main street area, enjoying people passing by while probably drinking a box of chocolate milk. Suddenly, however, she stumbled upon a small rock, prompting someone to catch her from falling. And in front of a lot of people, Elstrou's friend fell in love... AGAIN. Now she and the guy she met are dating.

Elstrou thought that it's a funny joke at first, it feels like her friend didn't learn anything from her previous love stories, but then she somewhat realized that people would do anything for love. THIS COUNTRY would do anything for love (ring-ring Reunification probably rings a bell). And thus, Elstrou wrote a song that tells about how someone felt during those moments.

This song also mentioned the postivity and optimism South Alezians finally got to feel after reunification, with all of them hoping that they can finally be happy living the way that Alezians should be, especially with South Alezia getting rebuilt back to its pre-dictatorship glory.

The postcard ended, and as the footer closes, the host audience applaused crazily for the host entry, some even shouting ELSTROU - MAATSCHELD - ELSTROU - MAATSCHELD - ELSTROU - MAATSCHELD so on and so on.... Elstrou stood on the center of the triangular stage. The triangle screens started glowing up, alternating as every ooh was sung, and re-dimming the stage as there are some silence before another set of oohs were sung. As that happen, the view starts revealing Elstrou Maatscheld with her backing dancers, all wearing Cream hoodie left unzipped with the hood on their heads, dark cream undershirt, and light blue jeans.

Oooh...
Oo-Oo-Oooh
Oo-Oo-Oooh
Oo-Oo-Oooh

The clap triggered the stage to light up every single light for a split second with the triangle screen starting to show different shapes in black and white such as squares, circles, stars, hearts, crescents, etc. Overlapping over each other. Elstrou took the microphone from the microphone stand. With a steadicam in front of her and with her backing dancers behind her, Elstrou made her way around the outer circular rim part of the stage, walking around it.

My papa said that I deserve to love
My mama said that I'm gonna find one to love
My grandma prayed all day and night for me
My grandpa said "Well, good luck" to me

The camera moved to a rail camera that moves to the right side of the stage, following the group. Elstrou kept walking like usual even with the group behind her making a commotion by dancing and doing other things. Elstrou and the group used the right side catwalk to return to the inner circle. And as the last sentence comes, Elstrou stopped moving as her backing dancers flail their hands randomly to every direction.

But I was so young, small and stupid
Cuz' I got offguard by a cupid
And it's in the mid of a cit-ay
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah

As drums began to be hit, the camera changed views every single second. First a closeup of Elstrou, then a closeup of the backing dancers, then a view of Doorsbreeken's skyline, then a view of the National Stadium, then finally back to the stage, where Elstrou and her 2 backing dancers lined up vertically, with them moving left and right.

Yesterday, damn it
Yesterday, damn my strange luck,
Yesterday, I ; Yesterday, He
Walking without any care

The view changed to show the remaining backing dancers doing the same thing as what Elstrou did, and before the last sentence arrived, one of the backing dancers "slapped" the camera back to show Elstrou holding on to her microphone.

There's so many people around me,
Trying to be who they wanna be,
A rocky curse falls straight to me,
And he holds me, love strikes at me, ay!

The first sentence is where the camera shows a closeup of Elstrou zipping her lips when she said the word "sh*t" (because this is a family show please), then the second sentence shows a rail camera rotating around the outer rim of the stage showing Elstrou and her backing dancers regrouping, with Elstrou tapping on her head, the third sentence changed the camera's view to the aerial view where you can see Alezian and other countries' flags waving around the National Stadium, and as the last sentence comes, the view shows the large screen showing a writing of "DAMMIT, I FELL IN LOVE AGAIN" where fireworks shoots up from the ground around the edges of the stage.

I used to never give a sh*t
But this one jogs my intellectual wit
This ain't anything I can gain, but
But, Dammit, I Fell In Love Again

The view changes to show Elstrou tapping her hand again and flicking it to the sky, which prompted a "star" to come out of that flick which is a virtual effect. Elstrou and her backing dancers then crouched mid-air then moved left and right as if they're finding something, then they flicked their hands again this time to the ground, resulting into a laser visual effect to come from the group.

Why do I have to face this now?
Am I only entitled to love now
Where to look for answers for now?
Cuz, Dammit, I Fell In Love Again

Drum beats, this time each beat shows a different part of the stage. Elstrou walked forward and raised her hands as she adlibbed "COME ON ZAFIZAMARRAH!" and at the same time the backing dancer did a pose of various things and froze on the spot as smoke comes out of as every "In Love Again" was sung.

(In love again, dammit, In love again....)
In love again, In love again

Another set of beats, this time it shows Elstrou returning back to get near to her backing dancers and with all of her backing dancers facing the floor one by one.

Elstrou faced the camera rather seriously, then with a sarcastic tone in the third sentence onwards. In the fourth sentence, Elstrou spinned and made herself fall backwards which then got supported by her backing dancers around the "damn do it!" part.

He asked me whether I was free
Well, can't he wait for my answer till the late midnight
Can't believe that I can't leave my freaking own self be
Cuz I can't compose stuff for now, damn do it!

The backing dancers pushed Elstrou back upwards, then she waggled her finger at the first sentence and then moved, then spinned her finger to the right and then upwards, then once again Elstrou spinned and once again, her backing dancers supported her, and at the last sentence, Elstrou raised her left hand as she continued to hold on to the microphone, before standing back up again

Ah, ah, I need a doc
To check whether I'm only cray or seeking attention
Cuz, I felt like this me ain't me, like
Yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah

The drum beats returned, changing views from the view of Alezian fans celebrating, the view of the entire audience insode the National Stadium, the view of the Green Room at floor below with singers relaxing enjoying the song, the view of Sa'idah Mahmudaisyah, the premier of the Alezian Union who personally attended the event and sitting on a regular seat together with other fans where you can notice that a random someone holds a small MCG and Britonish flag on her right, then back to the stage, where Elstrou and her 2 backing dancers lined up vertically, with them moving left and right.

Yesterday, damn it
Yesterday, damn my strange luck,
Yesterday, I ; Yesterday, He
Walking without any care

The view changed to show the remaining backing dancers doing the same thing as what Elstrou did, and before the last sentence arrived, one of the backing dancers "slapped" the camera back to show Elstrou holding on to her microphone.

(In love again, dammit, In love again....)
In love again, In love again

"COME ON ALEZIA, LET'S SHOW THE WORLD THAT WE CAN!", Elstrou adlibbed as the backing dancers broke their freezing positions and starting to move, albeit pretty slowly and robotic (which is intentional) around this time, the lights starts to dim.

Oooh...
Oo-Oo-Oooh
Oo-Oo-Oooh
Oo-Oo-Oooh

Oooh...
Oo-Oo-Oooh
Oo-Oo-Oooh
Oo-Oo-Oooh

Oooh...
Oo-Oo-Oooh (AY!)

Cuz, Dammit, I Fell In Love Again

In love again, In love again

Around this time, the drum beats prompted a firework shoot, each beat prompted a shoot in a different spot. Finally, the backing dancers one by one posed around Elstrou with Elstrou giving the final pose of a single raise of her right hand. The song ends, and the audience roared for the host entry, Elstrou shouted, "THAAAAANK YOU!!! ALE!!" before hugging her backing dancers and exiting the stage.

In Red Blooms - Take My Heart

Language(s): English
Lyrics: In Red Blooms (Sonya Imando)
Music: In Red Blooms
Tune: Runaway - Tommy february6

Artist Background
Image
In Red Blooms is the side project of pado-e (folk) singer Sonya Imando (b. 16 May 1979). Imando was born in Gelaam, Hoek River Province to indigenous Joijan parents who were part of the Royal Otohé Orchestra. Although never achieving significant mainstream success, her song 'Var dë viltē blōmin kronin' (Where the wild flowers grow) established her as a cult Joijan new age artist and the song reached number 86 on the Superhot Top 100 in 1999.

Lyrics and staging
Red is sat in a pink prop chair with dimmed spotlights for a couple of seconds before the song starts. Once it does, a group of dancers come out onto centre stage, one reaching out to take Red out of the chair. Red and the dancers move towards the front of the stage, dancing in time to the music in a (satirically) sloppy manner.
Tell me more than you're telling me now
Need to know
About you somehow
Don't be shy
Don't go telling me lies
I need to know that you're right
All these lights
Glowing up the brown of your eyes
There's no need to fear
Don't be shy
We both know what we want
I won't hold no judgement

The dancers stop in dramatic poses. Red walks closer to the edge of the stage. Spotlights suddenly flash on her.

Take my heart
I didn't need it anyway
Take my heart
Come on babe, make my day
Take my heart
Don't go leaving me astray
Take my heart
Go to the dancefloor, you know your way

Don't look back now, this is our time
I need you now, for all of tonight
Do something or I feel like I'll fall apart
Take my heart, take my heart, take my heart
Just be honest, we know it, it's in plain sight
I need you now, for all of tonight
Do something or I feel like I'll fall apart
Take my heart, take my heart, take my heart

Instrumental

I can read every face that you make
Mixed signals
Welcome to the show
Dramatic, that is what you're being
I thought this had some meaning

Take my heart
I didn't need it anyway
Take my heart
Come on babe, make my day
Take my heart
Don't go leaving me astray
Take my heart
Go to the dancefloor, you know your way

Don't look back now, this is our time
I need you now, for all of tonight
Do something or I feel like I'll fall apart
Take my heart, take my heart, take my heart
Just be honest, we know it, it's in plain sight
I need you now, for all of tonight
Do something or I feel like I'll fall apart
Take my heart, take my heart, take my heart
Just be honest, we know it, it's in plain sight
I need you now, for all of tonight
Do something or I feel like I'll fall apart
Take my heart, take my heart, take my heart

Do something or I feel like I'll fall apart
Take my heart, take my heart, take my heart

Two random males enter the stage and begin to sing. One of them plays the guitar but his playing sounds like he just learned it 12 minutes ago. Both of them will stop for the moment to look at some sheets of paper with the lyrics as they apparently forgot them.

Our lovely song are gonna win the ... contest.
How on earth will the other win when we ... sing?
We will get 500 points on this contest
And the other will get ... nothing
We are the winner of Worldvision for the 69th time
And you better suck on them d... something
Vartugia, you are the winner once again

Winning again like you rekt eveyone
Winning again like you ...

Guitarplayer McGuitarface: Fuck i played the wrong chord.

Rekt eveyone

Nobody laughed at this as our men walk out of the stage.

ÄKE

"Þym rekænde þu"

Language: Aenglish

Image

ÄKE
ÄKE is a metal duo consisting of Olav Higssen and Pætir Levki Kyilhust from Þurso. Olav is a singer and a rock guitarist, while Pætir is known around Aenglide for his drumming.

They run separate music careers - but have collaborated together for WorldVision 93. Their song “Þym rekænde þu”, (translating to I am reaching you”) will be sung at WorldVision 93 in purely Aenglish.

The song, “Þym rekænde þu”, is a metal love song - quite unheard of. Pætir Levki Kyilhust originally wrote this for his wife, Anna Kyilhust, after their marriage.

As soon as the music starts, there is complete darkness around the arena, as they introduce ÄKE. But as soon as Olav Higssen, the lead singer, starts singing, a dimmer light is focused on him, while Pætir still remains a little obscured.

Vrom en te hos, a te rœm,
From in the house, to the room,

A on kisse en ten lepnen,
To a kiss on the lips,

Þy starta a drœm,
I start to dream,

Yt þy lev a heaven,
And I go to heaven,

Þym levinde a ve’,
And I’m going to be,

te koneg ov te apokalypske, ay
The king of the apocalypse, ay

Þy elskig þu ounen,
I love your eyes,

Yt þy elskig þu har,
And I love your hair,

Þu es myn yt kegn myn,
You’re mine and only mine,

Vist lengt or nar,
If far or near,

The lights become a tiny bit brighter and makes Pætir, the drummer, visible as this first pre-chorus is sung by Olav.

Nær þym en þur vopnen,
When I’m in your arms,

Vere es nyt anjsde þyd vyjnt a lev.
There isn’t anywhere I’d want to go.

Þym som on æj,
You’re like a stream,

Vase roli’ flystej,
That calmly flows,

Þy spra "þur skjyœne ys som ten rosen!"
I say “Your beauty is like the roses!”

Þym rekænde þu!
I am reaching you!

The lights flash bright in an instant as Olav begins to sing this chorus powerfully.

Þym rekænde þu!
I am reaching you!

Vis ys vor ve es en elske,
This is where we are in love,

Vis ys vor ve es on duo,
This is where we are a duo,

On elskinde vorende, Þym med þu,
A loving union, I’m with you,

Þym en elskig med þu!
I’m in love with you!

Nyl elske me med þur gylden hjyart,
Now love me with your golden heart,

'Kus vis ys vor ve es en elske,
'Cause this is where we are in love,

Symmenjr nyl, Þym med þu,
Together now, I’m with you,

Þym rekænde þu!
I am reaching you!

The lights go back to a dim light, but not as dark as it was near to the beginning of the performance.

Sanhyten es spra,
Truth is told,

Þur som te tren en vjar,
You’re like the trees in spring,

Ves aj tat trjst,
We’re sometimes sad,

Ves aj tat sænt,
We’re sometimes mad,

Min yt es als vere,
But it’s all there,

Nær þur her,
When you are here,

Ves on god pære!
We are a good pair!

The lights increasingly get brighter as the bridge of song gets sung, where the suspense is built.

Þy nyt vyjnt te ren,
I don't want the rain,

Þy nyt vyjnt te torden,
I don't want the thunder,

Þy nyt vyjnt te ren,
I don't want the rain,

Min te skinede es okej,
But the sunshine is okay,

‘Kus þym rekænde þu!
Cause I'm reaching you!

Vis ys vor ve es en elske,
This is where we are in love,

Vis ys vor ve es on duo,
This is where we are a duo,

On elskinde vorende, Þym med þu,
A loving union, I’m with you,

Þym en elskig med þu!
I’m in love with you!

Nyl elske me med þur gylden hjyart!
Now love me with your golden heart!

Pætir, the drummer, gets more camera time around these parts as Olav sings different parts of the chorus together, which had been heard by the audience already.

Symmenjr nyl, Þym med þu,
Together now, I’m with you,

Þym rekænde þu!
I am reaching you!

Vis ys vor ves tu’!
This is where we’re two!

Þym rekænde þu!
I am reaching you!

Vis ys vor ve es en elske,
This is where we are in love,

Vis ys vor ve es on duo,
This is where we are a duo,

Vis ys vor ve es en elske,
This is where we are in love,

Vis ys vor þym med þu!
This is where I’m with you!

Þym som on æ,
You’re like a stream,

Vas roli’ flyste,
That calmly flows,

Som te solne vas skine,
Like the sun that shines,

‘Kus vis ys vor ve es en elske,
‘Cause his is where we are in love,

Nær þym en þur vopnen,
When I’m in your arms,

Vere es nyt anjsde þyd vyjnt a lev.
There isn’t anywhere I’d want to go.

Þy spra "Þur en me henden!"
I say “You’re in my hands!”

The lights return to the brightest as the final chorus is sung, and it is sung most powerfully by Olav, and the pyro flames shoot up every four seconds at this last and grand piece of the song.

Þym rekænde þu!
I am reaching you!

Vis ys vor ve es en elske,
This is where we are in love,

Vis ys vor ve es on duo,
This is where we are a duo,

On elskinde vorende, Þym med þu,
A loving union, I’m with you,

Þym en elskig med þu!
I’m in love with you!

Nyl elske me med þur gylden hjyart!
Now love me with your golden heart!
