MILITARY SELLOFF FOLLOWING CONCLUSION OF PRIMARY ASSAULT RIFLE CHOICE

Once again the Confederate Military and Mikaylski & Aviram Armaments have come into another outstanding agreement that will benefit the future of the Confederate Armed Forces. Following the successes of the MAP-98 Assault Rifle and MAP-98K Carbine, additional orders were placed to fill further gaps in the general armory of the Confederate States. Chief General Elliot Armstrong submitted an order for the S-9 Sub Machine-Gun, the MAP-11 Assault Rifle, and the S-110 and S-155 Pistols.

"These new acquisitions from our newest agreement with Mikaylski & Aviram Armaments represents the continued commitment of the military to persist in bettering our forces and ensuring they have the best equipment available," Chief General Elliot Armstrong stated in a prepared statement today. "We will continue to bolster our forces in all our branches by either acquiring new materials or assets that we deem suitable to our needs or constructing new materials or assets to fill the gaps the global markets are unable to properly fill."

The S-9 Sub Machine-Gun was purchased to utilize the 9x19mm round and is suitable for special forces and military police. The additions of the S-110 Compact Pistol and S-155 Pistol will replace the main sidearm of the Confederate Military, with both utilizing the 9x19mm round. The MAP-11 Assault Rifle is a bullbup rifle designed to compliment all branches of the Confederate Military and it was purchased to utilize the 5.45x39mm round.

THREE NEW STRIKE CARRIERS ENTER SERVICE

Early today on the 27th of June, President Mileethus Canisilus and Vice President Franklin Johnson were seen at the Lexington National Dockyards to welcome home new acquisitions to the Confederate States Navy Active Service Roster, that of three new Anagonia-Class Strike Carriers. The CVSN-08 CSS Poseidon, the CVSN-09 CSS Courageous and the CVSN-10 CSS Defiance were towed into berth following their arrival into home waters in the late hours of the 26th, allowing the crews a brief respite with friends and family before the planned activation ceremonies were to commence hours later on the 27th. As is tradition, each ship was inspected personally by the Commander-in-Chief of the Confederate States Armed Forces, the President himself.

"Today marks a historical milestone for the planned restructuring of the Confederate States Navy," remarked President Canisilus in a press conference later in the day. "The Anagonia-class is a very old design, never intended to serve as long as it has in our navy. The historical significance of this design was never lost to our military, however, and in the early years of the Confederacy's foundation we sold two to our closest allies along our southern border, ensuring that we had the funds to preserve the remainder for generations to come. Those ships that survived retirement served our navy dutifully for the last one-hundred and five years. Sadly, however, all ships have a life expectancy. With the activation of these newly minted and constructed Strike Carriers, we can finally safely retire the CSS Olympia and the CSS Freedom and preserve their historical significance for all future generations of Anagonians."

A report was filed in late 102 AUR that alerted the Confederate Navy to the degrading reactors onboard the aging Strike Carriers, the CSS Olympia and Freedom. Despite extensive overhauls over the last century, the aging hulls were requiring more repairs than was necessary for such a vessel and were requiring far more time in drydocks leaving gaps in the planned power projection for the Navy. A debate had raged whether to completely retire the designs in favor of the current Boxer-class Light Carriers or to build completely new ones with safer construction techniques to ensure maximum longevity. A decision was made early in 103 AUR to build three completely new Strike Carriers based around the older designs for the sake of ensuring the Navy had some utilization of large carriers for longer deployments.

"The Confederate Navy has transitioned far from where it was first structured in the early years of the Confederate States," remarked Chief Admiral of the Confederate Navy Dave Evans during the ceremonies. "While I have personally approved a more leaner, fast reacting force with which our Light Carriers bring to the table, I cannot and will not deny the only carrier to be designed by Anagonian hands as a probable solution to our growing issues of power projection. Until such time as we find an alternative, we must utilize what we have to its greatest potential. These Strike Carriers have served under two reigning government authorities in Anagonia, have served with distinction and proven themselves in multiple wars, and it would be foolish of myself or anyone else to disregard their strategic importance to our Navy."

The newly minted Captains of the three Strike Carriers were seen personally meeting with the President and Vice President following the ceremonies. The Captains and their crews were scheduled on a month-long home leave after their four month shakedown tour. According to a press release by Chief Admiral Dave Evans, the three new Strike Carriers are scheduled for formal deployment and rotation following the leave time after which the CVSN-06 CSS Olympia and the CVSN-07 CSS Freedom will be withdrawn from active duty deployment to begin preparations for retirement. Both ships are intended to be reconfigured into museum ships, with unknown permanent berthing as of this press release.

Currently the CSS Olympia is with a Strike Carrier Group patrolling trade routes in and around the vicinity of the Anagonian Ocean. The CSS Freedom is reported to be with its own Strike Carrier Group protecting international trade routes in international waters between Gholgoth and Greater Dienstad.

"It is my pleasure, therefore, to announce that I found all these Strike Carriers fit for duty," President Canisilus announced following his four-hour tour of the new Strike Carriers.

The approval itself is ceremonial, however the tradition reaches far past the foundation of the Confederate States. In the early years of the United Republic, the role of the President as Commander-in-Chief was taken to new levels. Their responsibility to inspect the troops as well as equipment and ships was taken seriously up until the later years of the Republic and before its fall. The Confederate Presidents continued this tradition following the example set by President Tiberius Samsus on his first inspection of the Confederate Navy in 2 AUR, though subsequent Presidents would be less strict in their inspections. President Canisilus exemplified a more relaxed approached during the ceremonies, greeting the crew and Captains and spending time with guided tours as well as answering questions from his press entourage. It was as one attending citizen put it a "very relaxed and jovial affair".

CONFEDERATE NAVY DOWNSIZING FLEET

Chief Admiral Dave Evans, Chief Admiral of the Confederate Navy, announced today that the Confederate Navy is overdue for a long-delayed downsizing of older ship assets. Presenting his report in person to a budget committee of the Grand Senate of the Confederacy, Chief Admiral Evans stated that the cost of maintaining the majority of the older ship classes in the fleet has now begun to outweigh the benefits they provide to national security. The top candidates on his list of cuts were the five active-serving Nimitz-class Super Carriers still in operation within the Navy; the CSS Aries, the CSS Exeter, the CSS Pathfinder, the CSS Glassford, and the CSS Cerberus. All five super carriers have had a storied history within both the United Republic Navy, which originally purchased their hulls, and the Confederate Navy which maintains them presently for active service. However due to several reports over the past twenty years from Naval Budgeting Committees, it becomes clear that this current confrontation with the head of the Confederate Navy and the Grand Senate was inevitable.

"With our Navy today we cannot expect to maintain older equipment and anticipate results on par with what was received some fifty years ago", Chief Admiral Dave Evans stated during the hearing today at the Grand Senate. "I cannot emphasize enough the importance of freeing up additional funds for the Navy by retiring older designs so that we can invest in future assets that will provide cost effective results."

Grand Senate Budget Committee Chairman Lawrence Nash, Grand Senator from the State of Saratoga and Federalist Party member, disagreed with the Chief Admiral.

"Our country today faces unprecedented threats from both internal sources and abroad and I cannot in good faith agree with the respected Chief Admiral here", Grand Senator Nash was quoted as saying in the hearing. "We must pursue a reliable approach, a consistent approach, to the problem of our budget without compromising the integrity of our national defense no matter the cost."

Grand Senator Dianne McDowell, Grand Senator from the State of Plymouth and Confederate National Party member, opposed the Chairmans perspective.

"While I have no doubt our Chairman has the best interests of our nation at heart, I must submit my perspective to that of the more experienced Chief Admiral whom is actively approaching this issue from a manner which is consistent with keeping the best interests of our nation at the fore of his perspective," Grand Senator McDowell was quoted as saying.

The rest of the committee seemed to agree with Grand Senator McDowell with a 5-2 vote, the Grand Senator Budget Committee agreeing to the Chief Admirals methods to curtail costs in the short term for long term results. This news comes fresh on the cusp of the arrival of the three new Anagonia-class Strike Carriers entering service, the CSS Poseidon, CSS Courageous, and CSS Defiance. The three newly constructed super carriers are expected to have an 80-year service life, much shorter than their predecessors, but have been left open to serve longer if the current world situation at the time of expected retirement permits. The two older Anagonia-class Strike Carriers the CSS Olympia and the CSS Freedom have already been brought into port and are undergoing retirement ceremonies and procedures.

The Navy has not stated the final fates of the two older Strike Carriers, only recently releasing a statement that their hulls and frames will be left untouched until the Chief Admiral decides on an appropriate fate. Inside sources speculate that the Chief Admiral is currently playing with the idea of selling all retired ships to our neighboring allies, though this remains unconfirmed with major news outlets. The Chief Admiral himself remains without comment to any question concerning this speculation.

The fate of the five Nimitz-class Super Carriers have been confirmed, however. Grand Admiral Dave Evans had this to comment.

"I expect to return our five Nimitz-class carriers to port within the next three months for retirement and decommissioning procedures, at which time I expect to have purchasing offers from our allies in the Soviet Union and Imperial Empire."

When asked if any new Strike Carriers will be constructed to replace the Nimitz-class losses, the Grand Admiral stated that, "The option is open and the prospect seems possible".

THE ISSUE WITH LIGHT CARRIERS; OTHER NEWS

It seems the Confederate Navy has backtracked on its long-standing directive to use light carriers. Chief Admiral Dave Evans, Chief Admiral of the Confederate Navy, announced today in a public dispatch that the Confederate Navy would be backtracking slightly on its ambitions for an, "all light carrier navy". Recent global tensions were given as the excuse for the backtrack with an additional excuse on behalf of President Mileethus Canisilus, whom was stated to give an Executive Order to build more Strike Carriers. The President's order to the Chief Admiral came on the cusp of the Navy's formal acceptance of the F-21A/B Drekafighter into its ranks after several years of hard testing. In the dispatch by the Chief Admiral, it was mentioned that an additional five more Strike Carriers were being constructed with two already having their keels laid.

The CVSN-11 CSS Prometheus and CVSN-12 CSS Unconquerable have already begun construction, with the CVSN-13 CSS Liberator, CVSN-14 CSS Constellation, and the CVSN-15 CSS Dauntless in the preliminary stages of planning. The Chief Admiral stated in the dispatch that the additional strike carriers would be upgraded further to accommodate the F-21B Drekafighter and replace the aging F-4 Phantom II's still in service by the Confederate States Navy.

Additionally, the dispatch stated that the Chief Admiral intends to progress his program of retiring older naval assets. His eyes are set on retiring four current-serving Boxer-class Light Carriers; the CVL-07 CSS Tiberius Samsus, the CVL-08 CSS Arnold Jefferson, the CVL-09 CSS Andrew Shane, and the CVL-10 CSS Jason Faltore are expected to be retired soon. Up to nine Nightveil-Class Guided Missile Frigates are expected to be retired or scrapped soon, with an additional ten having been targeted to be sold or scrapped as well. All five currently serving Voleur Class Nuclear Attack Submarines are expected to be scrapped, all of which were transitioned over into use as training submarines but have long since outlived their usefulness for the active fleet. Six of the twelve currently serving BB-61 Iowa-class Battleships are expected to be retired or scrapped. The Chief Admiral gave hints in the dispatch that he was possibly investigating retiring the four Ohio-class Ballistic Missile Submarines in use by the Navy, though he is stated as believing it possibly unecessary.

The dispatch from the Chief Admiral continued to state that he planned on fully striking from the records the BBGN-03 CSS Georgia, which has been in mothball for nearly a century. Several preservation groups have already stated interest in the Georgia and at least one group has the funds to fully preserve the Georgia in an already prepared State Park near the Anagonian Ocean. This would fully decommission the Confederacy's only Super Battleship, though the Chief Admiral stated that other replacements were in the works. Clarification of this statement is expected in a future dispatch from the Confederate Navy.

In other news, Chief General Elliott Armstrong of the Department of National Defense announced in his own dispatch that the Confederate States Military had purchased the production rights for the MAP-16 Assault Rifle and the MA-SP Sniper Rifle, both of which are intended to either compliment existing ground force weapons or replace older weapons still in service. The strong partnership between Mikaylski & Aviram Armaments and the Confederate States Military continues to be bolstered by the ongoing purchases and Chief General Armstrong has been quoted as stating that, "The Military extremely values Mikaylski and Aviram Inc. due to their contributions and valued products".

F-21A/B DREKAFIGHTER DEVELOPMENT COOPERATIVE COMPLETED, REVEALED TO PUBLIC

The Confederate Military released from Article 3 a special project to the public. According to the release, the two nations of the Meritocratic Union of Marquesan and the Federal Republic of Lauzanne worked closely with the Confederate Military to modernize, extensively test, and complete an aircraft design gifted to the Confederate States by the Grand Dominion of the Drakonian Imperium. On August 15th, 97 AUR - 8 years ago now - the Grand Dominion gifted the Confederate States the design for the F-21A/B Drekafighter as a show of mutual cooperation for membership within the Gothic Alliance. At that time, however, internal development and production was extremely slow and near a point of stalling. Prospects looked grim within the first three years of the project to standardize the design to Anagonian compatibility and the lack of a healthy internal military development sector nearly killed the project entirely.

Looking to avoid any further setbacks, Chief General Regus Maxim - prior Chief General of the Confederate States Armed Forces, now retired - contacted the Meritocratic Union and Federal Republic for assistance. The resulting collaboration that started relit the fires under project management and the advancements within just one year resulted in various concepts and platforms. At one point the Confederate Military had up to five variants; F-21A for Land-based airfields and national airspace defense, F-21B for Naval-based carrier launches and operations, F-21C for a VTOL variant for the Marine Corps, F-21D for a spy plane variant, and the F-21E for a possible AEW/EW (Airborne Early Warning and Electronic Warfare System) variant. The five variants went through extensive prototype testing and development, as well as various commissions on possible future costs of development and operation. However after the Confederate States Marine Corps abandoned its prospective prototype, the Confederate States Navy abandoned the F-21E variant due to cost limitations and the Confederate States Air Force permanently shelved its F-21D spy plane variant due to feasibility and cost concerns. What was ultimately left into production was the original F-21A and F-21B variants.

Initially following the failed prospect of its F-21E variant, the Confederate Navy left the development management up to the Air Force who then led the collaboration up to the election of President Mileethus Canisilus just a few months ago. Following a memo which indicated the Presidents intent to further authorize the additional production of more Strike Carriers for the Navy, the Navy became reinvested in the project and further assisted in final completion and testing of its intended F-21B variant. The project was successfully completed on June 6th, 105 AUR with up to five years of extended trials and development under its belt and an incredible amount of knowledge and experience gained through the development of the fighters.

Statements released by both the Air Force and Navy confirmed the final purpose of the F-21A/B Drekafighter in their respective ranks. The Air Force focused on its variant to replace the extremely expensive and extremely cost-ineffective fleet of over 400 F-22 Raptors presently in operation. At just under D$80-90 Million Denars per unit, the F-21A Drekafighter completely outmatched economically the cost of a single F-22 at around D$334 million Denars per fighter aircraft. The F-21B Drekafighter was designed to fulfill the Confederate States Navy's desire to replace its extremely outdated and aging fleet of F-4B Phantom II's which were and are still in use by some Anagonia-class Strike Carriers. Despite the higher cost of the units, the Navy intends to fully utilize them on various Battlecarrier and Carrier platforms to complement newly constructed warships capable of servicing and launching the F-21B.

President Canisilus remarked that the entire project was, "a prime example of both interregional cooperation and allied cooperation" and that "I fully intend to continue this collaborative effort for future projects for our three great militaries".

Statements from leadership in both the Air Force and the Navy reaffirmed the Presidents sentiment on the matter. The Marine Corps, however, has not stated whether it intends to pursue a replacement for its fleet of AV-8B Harrier II's. Additionally, the Navy and Air Force have remarked that they intend to continue the collaborative through standard and routine arms purchases of weapons systems used in the F-21A/B designs.

HUGE MILITARY SELLOFF REPORTED

Following the conclusion of the Military Consolidation Initiative initiated by former Chief General Regus Maxim (Confederate States Army, retired), the current Chief General of the Confederate States Armed Forces, Chief General Titus Bond (Confederate States Marine Corps, active) has announced the immediate and necessary selloff of all obsolete military equipment deemed nonessential to the current military force structure of the Confederate Armed Forces. The selloff will begin in four phases. The first phase is for surplus assets deemed safe for civilian use, which shall be sold off first to the civilian population of the Confederate States with a 365 day leeway of advantage on all orders from within the Confederacy. Along with this first phase, those surplus assets deemed suitable for military use will be sold post-haste with advantage to all government authorities within the Confederacy (Municipal, Town, City, County, State, Imperial, et cetera). Following a 180 day advantage to these government authorities, the next phase of Surplus selloff will be made available to members of the United Continental Confederation, who at present are the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of Nodea Rudav and the Imperial Drekamythian Empire. The third phase of the selloff will be made available to regional powers within Gholgoth. The final phase is international selloffs, however the Chief General does not anticipate any remaining stock for this portion of the plan.

In a press conference at the West Island Military Complex today, the Chief General had this to say:

"Almost a decade after my predecessor began the Military Consolidation Initiative, I am pleased to announced that today marks the completion of this worthwhile and necessary effort. It has been a lengthy, hard, and sometimes brutal affair to find suitable replacements for the extensive assets which had been used in our armed forces - particularly those of the Confederate States Army and Marine Corps. I am proud to say, however, that the previously purchased designs from Scion Defense, which marked the beginning of our Military Consolidation Initiative, have been adequately constructed and filled to capacity within our nations stockpile. With these necessary quantities of assets at our disposal, I have deemed it safe to place into excess the no longer needed assets in which the Scion Defense designs replaced. A list of these excess assets will be made publically available, including a description of our four-phase selloff plan."

The Chief General held an open discussion for approximately one hour after the announcement. Following the announcement, the list of military assets to be sold off was made publically available. These excess assets are, in order of function, as follows:

In total, around 28 million pieces of new and used equipment will be sold off pending the four-phase cycle completion. Arms Manufacturing experts expect high returns for the Government and any pending corporate agreements that results in a profit for the manufacturing firm. Potential buyers are encouraged to contact the Confederate Government directly or inquire within your nearest Confederate Military Recruitment Station or Military Police Station if your are a domestic buyer.

MILITARY SELLOFF FOLLOWING CONCLUSION OF PRIMARY ASSAULT RIFLE CHOICE

Following the successful conclusion of talks between Mikaylski & Aviram Armaments and the Department of National Defense, the Confederate Military will soon be receiving a major weapons upgrade for its ground forces. Previously, the Confederate ground forces were given a choice between the M16A4 Modular Weapon System or the Heckler & Koch G3A3 Battle Rifle. These two assault rifles provided the military with the perquisite sixty-decades old requirement of a weapon platform for 5.56mm NATO and 7.62mm NATO rounds respectively. Now with more advanced modern technology, a more modern standing military, and a more capable presence across the region, the Confederate Military decided to do away with the perquisite rules and establish a new path for the future of its force.

This new path was the DPR purchase of the MAP-98 Assault Rifle and the MAP-98K Carbine, both utilizing the 7.62x39mm round. In a brief published statement following the conclusion of the agreement, Chief General Elliot Armstrong released this today.

"Following the successful conclusion of talks between Mikaylski & Aviram Inc. and the Department of National Defense, the ground forces of our nation within all branches will be utilizing two new weapons. The information packet for the MAP-98 and MAP-98K will be included with the release of this message. I'd like to also include that in the next week, the Confederate Military will be conducting a massive surplus selloff of our old stock of M16's, G3A3's, and M1918A2's. We will first sell to the states directly, then to interested citizens and collectors. After a period of four months, we will sell directly to international buyers. The military will maintain its stock of M2 Carbine's for emergency purposes."

It has been stated that in the next few weeks the first completed shipment of MAP-98's and MAP-98K's will be delivered first to the Confederate Army, following which new training regiments will be established to suit the weapons care and handling requirements. Sternguard, the private military contracting firm hired by Chief General Titus Bond for the purpose of assisting with training at the West Island Military Complex, has released a statement maintaining its commitment to professionally assisting new recruits with these new and upcoming changes.

THE CONFEDERACY ADOPTS A FORMAL NATIONAL ANTHEM

Since its inception, the Confederate States has never had a formal "national anthem". Traditionally, at ceremonies and political events, the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" had been informally adopted as the stand-in for the national anthem. This has traditionally been seen as a more aggressive stance in what is usually intended to be peaceful negotiations, but for the longest times the Seven States of the Confederacy have battled and argued with one another over agreeing to what would properly represent their national identity. As of today, July 14th, 104 AUR - almost one-hundred and five years after its inception - the Confederate States of Anagonia has adopted a formal National Anthem.

The Grand Congress of the Confederacy as of 2 pm today finalized draft proposal CR-20445 from the representatives from the Commonwealth of Lexington into a formal document, presenting the case to the Confederate Republic that the song, "My Country! 'Tis Of Thee", best represents the ideals of the Confederacy as a whole. Furthermore, the proposal continued, the unofficial anthem of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" should be made the formal song for the Confederate Military. The process of finalizing the draft proposal was the end result of a week of deliberation prior to today from all states representatives, which as of the act of accepting it into a formal document allowed the Grand Congress to vote. With an overwhelming majority accepting the proposal and no protests from any state representatives, CR-20445 was passed into law effective immediately.

It is a testament to the faith in the system that this process took so long. Many proposals were heard over the years, yet historians agree that the majority of them were shot down due to their divisive natures and unclear intentions presented in the proposed songs and hymns. Instead, as the process of deliberating what would further identify the national identity, the nation went full speed into rebuilding and reestablishing itself as a world power. Only much later in its history would it finally settle on what would best represent the country as a whole. The Grand Congress is expected to establish a formal hearing for the people of the Confederacy to lodge support or protests for enacted law CR-20445. While not expected, if any protests are formalized by majority, the decision on the legality of CR-20445 would then be submitted to the Supreme Court of the Confederacy for final ruling.

In a twist of ironic fate, the now-deceased Chief General Elliot Armstrongs legacy continues to bolster the Confederate States Military. Months ago, the Confederate States Military purchased and commissioned the Allanean Defense Exports for three(3) Hood-class Superdreadnoughts. At the time in the now-declassified reports leading up to the request, Chief General Armstrong had emphasized the need for platforms that could combat the growing dangers posed by nations outside the Gothic Alliance within Gholgoth. His belief that acquiring three of these expensive behemoths would present a deterrence for future aggression, and a few days after his formal request the Allanean Defense Exports accepted the request.

It was believed by the Chief General and other high ranking members of the Military that the construction of the Super-Capital ships would take years. In the case of the first commissioned Hood-class Superdreadnought, however, this turned out not to be the case. In a surprising twist of events, days after the Tragedy in Truxinix which took the lives of both Chief General Elliot Armstrong and Chief General Titus Bond, the Allanean Defense Exports delivered the first completed Hood-class to the hands of the Confederate States Navy. In the midst of a state of heightened readiness, the CSN took ownership of the CSS Sovereign and began preparations for its first sea trails.

This news on the midst of possible military drills on behalf of the Kraven Reich gives a glimpse at the extreme foresight that was a common trait with Chief General Armstrong. Despite his recent demise, his actions as our Chief General of the Department of Defense continue to provide benefit to our nations state of readiness. In the midst of a trying time, one unprecedented in recent memory, it is without doubt that this newest acquisition to the Confederate States Navy will be held in high regard and with the respect it deserves.

THE F-22 CONUNDRUM

Almost two years ago, the F-22 Raptor was slated for phaseout from the Confederate Military arsenal. In the almost two years since the announcement made by the recently deceased Chief General of the Confederate States Armed Forces, Chief General Titus Bond, the F-22 despite all intentions to the contrary continues to be a vital asset to the Confederate States Air Force. Even now, citizens across the nation can visibly see squadrons of Raptors flying over populated areas, much of the aircraft brand new and practically off the manufacturing line. So one has to ask - why?

Confederate Military News recently sat down with Command Chief Master Sergeant Hostus Ivmarus of the Confederate States Air Force to get an answer to that question. Command Chief Master Sergeant Ivmarus is one of a growing many non-human sapient species to attain high-ranking military positions in the Confederate States Armed Forces. Hostus's career and service history has become the subject of many biography's within the last ten years and at least one autobiography written by the Command Chief Master Sergeant himself. His expertise and credentials in understanding the modern problems faced by the Air Force are one of many reason why he was sought to answer this pressing question. He presently serves as one of a few Confederate States Air Force Combat Force Advisors - or AFCFA's - to the General of the Confederate States Air Force.

"It's a very difficult issue to take hold of in a simple sentence," remarked the Command Chief Master Sergeant in a sit-down interview early in the day on September 6th. "You have to remember, the Air Force didn't have a reliable replacement for the F-22 until the completion of the development cooperative for our F-21A/B Drekafighter, which of itself was a design given by the Drakonian Imperium to us due to our involvement with the Gothic Alliance. To clarify that statement, we spent well over a decade trying to figure out a design given to us, to understand the mechanics of it and how to best apply it. We spent two years scratching our heads until we brought in the the Meritocratic Union Marquesan and the Federal Republic of Lauzanne to help us develop this brand new technology."

The Command Chief Master Sergeant went on to elaborate that despite the Air Force's acquisition of the F-60A/C Hekate Multirole Stealth Fighter per DPR rights decades prior, the Air Force hadn't truly gained a perspective of the technology it harbored and developed through the private industry.

"The F-60 Hekate and F-22 Raptor are unique to us because we gained the development and production rights to these and handed those designs off to private industry - within Anagonia mind you - to produce these units for us," Hostus had explained in the interview. "With the F-21 Drekafighter, we truly had to keep things secret from private industry, we had to develop it ourselves and in-house with the help of more experienced allied governments who were familiar. So in short, the primary reason we haven't yet done away with the F-22 is because of its simplicity to produce. But that's about to change within the next five years."

And change it already is. According to statistics provided by the military, production of both variants of the F-21 Drekafighter is reaching unprecedented levels. While reports from the private industry, primarily Anagonian Avionics who is the primary private industry provider for the Air Force, shows a sharp decline in future orders for the F-22 and F-60. That mixed with the Presidents recent directive to increase the production of Strike Carriers and to modernize the carriers to fit the F-21 means that the Drekafighters future is bright indeed. But that still leaves the question of why the F-22 isn't being phased out sooner.

"The truth of the matter is that the F-22's are extremely expensive," the Command Chief Master Sergeant explained. "Each one costs around D$334 million Denars to produce with an operating cost somewhere near that production cost. The General of the Air Force wants his money's worth, while he can get it, and you can be guaranteed that the recent F-22's that have been produced will still be used for the duration of their expected service life. It would be impractical for us to throw away perfectly good equipment without first getting our Denar's worth out of them. Some other superpowers may be like that, but we're not."

A perfect summary of the situation. Most of the military branches are very similar in both frugality and awareness of the economical impact of their purchases, save perhaps for the Confederate States Navy - but that's another story entirely. For the Confederate States Air Force, they have already done away with dozens of fighter and bomber platforms that were beyond outdated and usefulness. Yet there still persists a few platforms that are operated to this very day. One specifically is the C-141C Starlifter, the very same aircraft that was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people in the very recent Tragedy of Truxinix. When asked about this, the Hostus had this to say.

"I'm not particularly privy to the ongoing investigation in Truxinix, it's an extreme tragedy and one my heart is aching in sorrow over," Hostus remarked somberly. "However I can assure you that the C-141C's we have in service are constantly maintained and we wouldn't be operating them unless they presented a viable and clear strategic use. That said, if this recent tragedy was caused because of how outdated that aircraft is compared with the rest of our fleet, I can also assure you it will be gone very quickly from our rosters of assets."

TWO NEW POLITICAL PARTIES FORMALIZED

Following intense political negotiations following the conclusion of the 104 Year Elections, major players in both chambers of government have shifted their loyalties citing a breakdown in reasonable negotiations to form a structured governing majority. The parties most hit by this division, the Socialist Party of Anagonia and the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia, were experiencing intense disagreements over how to deal with and negotiate with the Libertarian Party which presently holds a Majority in both the Grand Senate and the Grand House. Per legal law, the revolting representatives held a legal vote to allow their separation, which was approved by up to a 85% majority in all districts represented. Following this approval, the government requirement for the limit of representatives to form a political party was satisfied by the four Grand Senators, in pairs of two, formalized two new political parties to properly represent the interests of their constituents.

Grand Senator Elmer Marsh and Grand Senator Elmer Potts, both Grand Senators from the Republic of Arkansis along, officially formed the Common Action League of Anagonia a few hours into the evening following the full breakdown of final negotiations. They both separated their loyalties from the Socialist Party of Anagonia following what Grand Senator Marsh claimed was, "a gross misuse and under-representation of the common citizen" from within the party. Grand Senator Marsh further claimed that Grand Senator Dixie Valencia, the current leader of the Socialist Party of Anagonia, lacked the tolerance for differences of opinion and often punished party members for swaying from the political parties central goal. Grand Senator Valencia commented, "Good Riddance," in response to the accusations.

The National Patriot Union of Anagonia was formed by Grand Senator Roman Griffin from the Confederal Republic of Plymouth and Grand Senator Alyssa Walters from the Sovereign Republic of Liberty. Both Grand Senators defected from the Fascist Party of Southern Anagonia, citing differences of opinions and a lack of general cohesion in what remained from the party. Grand Senator Griffin also stated that there was a, "...general sense (of) distrust after (the) CNBI investigation (during the elections)". In response, Grand Senator and previous Vice-President Edmond Goff commented that, "He wished the Grand Senators luck and I hope they'll continue to properly represent their citizens interests".

Vice President Franklin Johnson remarked on the events that unfolded today in a news conference at the Confederate White House.

"It is the right of our representatives to follow the interests of their citizens, to properly represent them in any capacity they can. Our political system is unique in Anagonia. We pay our representatives not a straight salary or a straight pay, but set that pay by a yearly vote of the citizens to determine how best their elected representatives have conducted their office. If we fail our tasks, we get next to nothing. If we succeed, this pay compounds until we get a modest sum. Our literal drive is to appease our citizens. I have no doubt these four representatives of the people conducted their actions in those best interests, as any other motive would literally make no sense."

When asked if he would conduct the same sort of division in his own party if it was necessary, Vice President Johnson simply replied with a firm, "Absolutely, if the situation warranted it and I had support".

THE COMPLETION OF THE M-1985 REFIT PROJECT

A year long project to upgrade and refit the aging M-1985 "Wildcat" LIght Tank design has finally been formally completed on September the 12th. In a combined announcement yesterday, the joint collaboration initiative between the domestic companies of Anagonian Electronics and Anagonian Motors, as well as international companies from the Marquesan States, issued a press conference congratulating the successful completion of the M-1985 Refit Project. The project held special significance for the group as well as Project Lead Director Sam Turner due to the death of Chief General Elliot Armstrong not but a few days prior.

"Chief General Armstrong helped reach out across the oceans to the Marquesan States, to gather this wonderful and intelligent group of developers, technicians, and designers together for this project, personally overseeing every aspect of it up until the day of his death," Driector Turner stated in the press announcement yesterday. "It is in his honor and memory we are proud to accomplish and finish his dream. He wanted to refit and reuse the reliable M-1985 chassis and design, to upgrade it to modern standards. We have done that, and so much more. Thank you for your guidance, General Armstrong, and may you be at peace."

The press conference went on to host representatives from each company involved in the project. Representatives from Anagonian Motors, Anagonian Electronics, Netane Kinetics, Papeete Steelworks, Arioi Engineering & Design, and Viti Levu Powerplant Works spoke briefly on the massive accomplishment the team had just completed as well as gave their sincere condolences for the loss of the projects inspiration and founder, Chief General Elliot Armstrong. President and CEO of Anagonian Electronics, Wilbert Bustav, commented this during his turn at the podium during the press conference.

"I have personally worked closely with Chief General Elliot Armstrong on many a project through the fast twenty-five years. He was a driven man, a patriot and a hero of the Anagonian way of life. Every project he undertook was specific to the needs of the Confederate States and its defense of its people. Thanks to his efforts and his collaborative and diplomatic genius, we have completed yet another outstanding project to bolster not only international relations but also the general defense of our nation as a whole. I will miss you Mr. Armstrong. Speed of Melkos upon you."

The same congratulations and sentiments were widely shared across those speaking yesterday.

The M-1985 was originally acquired by Chief General Elliot Armstrong from the Drakonian Imperium, one of Confederacy's strongest trade and naval allies. It originally resembled the Stingray II's in specifications and design, with a few minor variations which had proven itself in the Drakonian Army through the decades. The M-1985 served dutifully the needs of the Confederate Armed Forces, most recently during the Trenaka Civil War Crisis under the command of Colonel Theron Davenport. Recommendations for improvement from Colonel Davenport were sent directly to the M-1985 Refit Project, which had commenced a month prior to the deployment, and many of the improvements in the new retrofitted design can be attributed directly to Colonel Davenport and his men on the ground during their experience with the light tank.

The results of the refit and upgrade were produced through the newly developed M-1985 "Wildcat" HIMAT - or High Mobility Amphibious Tank. Much of the companies originating from the Marquesan States contributed greatly in helping the Confederate Military around outstanding issues with the design, such as the current placement of wiring harnesses and how during the Trenaka Crisis they would often get tangled with the turrets rotation. Crews on the ground were reported to have jury rigged a solution above the turret mount which, consequently, became a permanent fix. Another critical issues announced was the firing chamber becoming seized after every three rounds due to moisture build-up inside the crew compartment, all of which was addressed and corrected with internal systems designed to prevent corrosion and drain moisture from around sensitive components. The final major issue of the original engine powerplant and the subsequent jury-rigging by the crews was finally addressed thanks to Anagonian Motors, who contributed a reliable and very sustainable power plant to the HIMAT.

Much of the Confederate Military's arsenal of M-1985 Light Tanks are expected to be refitted and upgraded to the HIMAT variant over the next few months. Already, thirty of the M-1985's have been upgraded to the HIMAT variant and are currently serving to address any issues that may arise between now and the finalization of the HIMAT upgrade program. Colonel Theron Davenport was there crewing one of the recently upgraded M-1985 HIMAT's in the West Island proving grounds. He gave this short statement in response to his experience.

"I have to give the companies a big thumbs up on this upgrade. It's fantastic. There's no longer moisture build-up inside the crew compartment and airflow has significantly improved. The entire thing works fantastic and it isn't breaking down every hour like the previous model. My entire congratulations and thanks to all involved. You all did fantastic, thank you on behalf of my men."

When asked about the recent death of Chief General Armstrong, Colonel Davenport had this to say.

"I never had the honor of meeting the Chief General before his passing. But if I could use his example here, and many other areas of the Military that he personally oversaw the improvements of, I know he cared about us. All of us. I will miss him. We all will. His drive and determination was a rarity in this day and age. I sincerely hope whomever is chosen as his replacement maintains his momentum into the future."

JOINT CARRIER DESIGN PROJECT COMPLETED

Chief Admiral Dave Evans gave a public announcement today ending his several-week long streak of silent publicity. At the Department of National Defense, standing alongside representatives of various companies from the Meritocratic Union of Marquesan and within the Confederate States, the Chief Admiral proudly announced the completion of the Confederate Navy's newest Strike Carrier. Calling it an upgrade from the Anagonia-class of Nuclear Strike Carrier, the Elliot Armstrong-class was designed to be a significant improvement over the Anagonia-class and provide an international presence for the Confederate Navy. The class originally intended to be proclaimed the Confederate States-class, however following the recent events of losing Chief General Elliot Armstrong and Chief General Titus Bond, the Chief Admiral stated that he, "pulled some strings".

"The Marquesan Union and these companies represented have been a stalwart ally in the Confederate Military's desire to upgrade its forces," the Chief Admiral stated on Sunday morning at the press conference. "They have assisted us with upgrading our Anagonia-class Strike Carriers to a more modernized standard, to better support our growing contingent of F-21B Drekafighters, and to provide better trade protection across the globe. Originally the name was to be the Confederate States-class, and there was even talks of separating the two vessel hulls into different carrier classes, however following the deaths of my beloved colleagues and friends...I uh-...I changed that plan."

Despite a display of brief emotion, the Chief Admiral continued his conference by stating that he, "changed the design name in honor of his lost friends and compatriots" to better honor their memory. He defended his decision by stating firmly to a reporter that, "they deserved that much, if not so much more for their services to this country". The press conference ended with the Chief Admiral giving these closing remarks.

"The CSS Elliot Armstrong is the first of her upgraded class, already finished and undergoing sea trails as we speak. Next to be produced and already under construction is the CSS Titus Bond. Finally the CSS Confederate States, whose keel has already been laid. We will probably continue building around four or five more of this upgraded Strike Carrier variant hull, replacing our aging fleet of Nimitz-class Supercarriers. With these new Strike Carriers at our disposal, complimenting our growing fleet of Anagonia-class Strike Carriers, we will be a force to be reckoned with in Gholgoth."

The Chief Admiral declined to comment on when he'd lower the state of emergency, stating only that, "it depends on what the investigation concludes".

The Chief Admiral did not answer a question if he'd face a Tribunal for his actions.

Military Police Gain Valuable Training

The Camera pans across a vast military installation with the backdrop of a midday ocean. Military vehicles and aircraft of all types can be readily seen traversing the scene. In the foreground stands a professionally dressed reporter, wearing a casual two-piece blue suit and black tie with a white undershirt visible. His appearance is that of a Native Anagonian; raven black hair in the style of a modern comb-over, skin coloration of a copper-brown, with striking blue eyes. He looks young, around his mid-30's, and holds himself well despite the clear indication of activity behind him. He begins to speak to the camera.

"Two weeks ago, Chief General Titus Bond authorized the private military firm Sternguard to begin conducting training routines with the Confederate States Military Police stationed here on West Island. The details of the arrangement were made public two days after the official arrangements were made, revealing that there had been an increasingly detrimental amount of medical training among the Military Police. Providing evidence for the necessity of the arrangement, Chief General Bond showed data revolving around a multitude of incidents spanning ten years that showed that when Military Police acted in their authority as First Responders, often times they would be unable to provide adequate medical attention to citizens in need. The majority of these incidents involved car accidents, in which an MP would be first on scene."

The image shifts to a replay of the announcement being referenced. Chief General Titus Bond is behind a podium in dress uniform, addressing a crowd of reporters from various international and domestic news agencies. No audio plays of this event, instead the reporter continues as the reel plays on screen.

"During the news conference, several reporters inquired directly on why the Confederate Military did not initiate a program to satisfy the lapse in training. For his answer, the Chief General stated that an in-house program on the scale necessary to provide such adequate training would be impossible at this time. He added that it would be more cost-effective and efficient if they used an internationally reputable institution to assist the Military Police in getting up to par with standards. When asked if there had been any objections within the Military concerning this decision the Chief General declined to comment."

The image returns to the reporter, the view slightly different. On one side is the clear view of the end of the military complex, on the other a view of a large complex under construction. Cranes and personnel are clearly visible working on the project. The reporter continues.

"To properly facilitate Sternguard in their training arrangement, the Chief General ordered the construction of a separate complex close to the vicinity of the West Island Military Complex to house the Sternguard personnel and equipment. There has been no announcement whether or not Sternguard will provide payment for the facility or if the Confederate Military is providing the funding for the project."

A reel plays of Military Police recruits going through basic training. Several recruits are being shouted at by what appears to be superior officers, several getting physical with pushing and kicking of recruits as they endure both fitness courses and parade ground training. The reel includes new captures of Sternguard personnel directing medical courses, such as CPR and in one image properly adjusting a play-victim in preparation for first aid. The reporter continues as the reel plays.

"Despite the ongoing construction of their facilities, Sternguard personnel have been hard at work beginning their medical training with both new recruits and veteran Military Policemen. Sources inside the West Island Military Complex have stated there have been no issues between Sternguard personnel and West Island staff, and that acclamation between the two has gone smoothly as they continue to introduce a new training cycle for all MP personnel. Courses have been stated to include first response to terrorist incidents, medical first aid for first responder MP's, properly training and handling of victims in various states of duress, and various other courses centering around first response and first aid."

The reel finishes and the reporter is visible again. He gives a nod to the camera as he concludes his report for the day.

"Reporting from the West Island Military Complex and Training Installation, I'm John Gunffry."

BREAKING NEWS: Pirate Attack off the West Islands!

The television is on in a mundane suburban household in Anagonia, somewhere between here and there. The living room arrangements are similar to those of any of modest income; a comfortable couch, a chair, a few items on show in cases including service awards from mandatory service, perhaps even a cat or dog to finish the picture. There is a family visible on the couch as the perspective moves behind them, showing mainly their modestly sized flat-screen television in their small entertainment center, the back of their heads visible above the couches edges. The show on the TV is of a popular once-a-week science fiction show, showcasing a team of Astronauts and Cosmonauts hard at work exploring the solar system - space exploration was all the fad in this present time. There are slight murmurs of appreciation and conversation pertaining to the showing from the figures.

Conversation stops, however, when the show is blanked over with an alert card from the Confederate States National News. BREAKING NEWS is shown in huge letters in front of a background with gentle colors of blue, red, and white. After a moment, the alert card is replaced with a visual of a news room; a man in his mid forties sits behind a professional looking anchor desk, the visual behind him showcasing cubicles behind glass with individuals hard at work on computer terminals. The perspective of the man, dressed in what appears to be a two-piece suit of high quality, shifts so he appears to the right of the screen. To his left a card appears in the top left, showcasing the words, "PIRATE ATTACK OFF THE WEST ISLANDS".

"Good evening fellow citizens," the man begins with the typical gender-friendly greeting that had become common in recent years. "We apologize for the interruption of your regularly scheduled broadcast, however as of two hours ago a recent pirate raid off the coast of the West Islands has been thwarted by Confederate Naval Forces. Reporter and Journalist Amanda Surreh had been tasked on the CSS Dreadnaught with giving a report on the operations of a Battlecarrier. She was interrupted during her interviewing and sent us instead this as her report."

The scene shifts. A video plays with a view of the fore of a Lexington-class Battlecarrier, showcasing crew on the decks during routine operations on either side of the two, 16 inch three-barreled main turrets one of which on the lower turret is clearly shown rising and falling during cleaning procedures. A crew is seen nearest the Vertical Launch Tubes at the fore of the bow, cleaning and maintaining areas critical to its operation. The scene shifts again to showcasing the flight deck on the aft, a view of an AV-8B Harrier II in the process of taking off per instructions of flight deck crew, another view of a UH-1N Huey helicopter lifting off as one of the crew visibly salutes towards the camera in a playful fashion. More scenes of day to day life are shown as the voice of Amanda Surreh overlays the visuals.

"The CSS Dreadnaught, the forefront of the Confederate promise to defend the trade lanes in the Anagonian Ocean. Her crew is trained, dedicated, and determined to fulfill their mission objectives at all costs. I had planned a full line of interviews with the command staff and their crew, to catch a clear glimpse of their day-to-day life as they protected both civilian and mercantile traffic through the sea lanes nearest Anagonia. Instead, I was permitted a front row seat into how these fantastic men and women protect our country."

The visuals change to that of a perspective on the bridge of the Battlecarrier, looking down at the deck as the two main guns swivel and aim starboard, each individual barrel aligning to some unseen target. As if on cue, the view changes to the perspective of a zoomed in shot, probably five to eight miles out on the open ocean, where several warships can be seen approaching. The scene doesn't shift this time, instead the shot zooms back and the camera turns, viewing off the port side where just a mile away from the CSS Dreadnaught is two civilian cruise liners, the camera settling just in time to watch two F-35B's fly overhead protectively. The scene shifts to that of an older man, Native Anagonian with dark raven hair and sharp green eyes. On his head is a Captain's hat, obviously so due to the comical naming of "I am the Captain, Obey Me" placed on it.

"What's their range?" he asks, his voice somewhat hoarse from overuse. He blinks briefly towards the camera then back off view towards whomever he had been addressing.His expression is serious as a sailor beside him, perhaps the Officer of the Watch, declares in a modest tone, "Six miles and closing."

This visibly peaks the Captain's attention. He leans back in his chair, a metal seat bolted to the floor with simple leather cushioning and arm rests for some level of comfort. He leans one elbow on the arm rest, the hand playing at his eyebrow as he glances to his side at the man who answered him.

"And they haven't responded to any communications?" The Captain asks, a softer tone now, clearly not having been intended to be heard by the cameraman or woman.

"No sir," the reply comes from the man.

The scene shifts again. This time the camera points at a woman, middle-aged, and rather attractive for a Native Anagonian. Her naturally raven-black hair has some silver and purple coloring in it. She is clothed in military fatigues, with a light flak vest of some make reading the words "PRESS" just in view. She gently brushes a hand through her hair, looking to the side briefly as she addresses the camera. This is clearly Amanda Surreh, her tone matching the previous vocal overlay.

"The Captain requested I leave the bridge and I complied, the situation is getting tense. The First Officer had me wear this protective clothing with a matching helmet, but I've briefly taken the helmet off so I can get this into log."

Her expression is a mixture of excitement and shock, her eyes showcasing a fear that any rational person would have. She takes a deep breath to calm herself as she continues her report.

"As of 0930 hours on July 17th, the CSS Dreadnaught was intended to perform a routine escort mission for the foreign cruise liners Anaconda and New Luna, both having a combined total of well over three-thousand civilians on board. Around 0949 hours, I was about to begin my assignment to catalogue the journey of this battlecarrier when a group of unknown ships, five in total, began approaching from the north-west. Multiple calls from the ship and a few from Captain have been ignored, with a recent attempt at contact by Helicopter considered too dangerous as they were fired upon. A flyby by an F-35 confirms that they fly a known flag of a group calling the 'Thousand Testaments' that the Confederate Navy has had issues with.

They appear to have one destroyer-grade vessel and four frigate-grade vessels, but considering they haven't launched missiles or made any other hostile move, the Captain is keeping his options open."

The scene shifts. The camera is zoomed in on the approaching fleet. They're all colored in mismatched colorations, with a flag hoisted above the largest ship with a fire symbol in the center with two swords crossing behind it. The flag is colored dark black, the symbols are colored orange, clearly visible at this distance. The camera is turned and Amanda is now in view, leaning against the bulkhead with her flak helmet on now. She looks to her side briefly as does the camera, showing a Marine standing guard near her. She shifts the camera back to herself.

"For the moment, Captain Murka has permitted me to wonder the ship. The Dreadnaught continues its course to the northeast and is maintaining a protective distance to act as a buffer between the cruise ships and the incoming vessels. From what I've been allowed to hear, the group owning the ships under the name of the Thousand Testaments lays claims to a few islands some fifty nautical miles from this location. They've been known to engage in piracy, but usually they seem to harass Confederate naval ships as a show of territorial strength. The Captain believes that this instance is possibly them attempting another show of force.

The Thousand Testaments was assisted by the Confederate Navy some thirty years ago during a relocation effort after their home country commenced a genocide against their ethnic group. I don't know more than that, but it appears that at some point or another they had their hands on actual military grade equipment and have in recent years been using them. I've asked off-camera to the Captain if these ships are possibly Anagonian in origin, sold to them. He replied that it was unlikely, as to his knowledge on what he's allowed to tell to the Press is that the Military only assisted in relocation.

I will ask further que-"

Amanda is cut off as near the ship, a large plume of water erupts, followed by two more in a line. The camera turns just in time to catch the hallmark light and plume of smoke from a gun report on one of the ships. The Marine beside Amanda grabs her without word, and the camera view is entirely disoriented as the Marine rushes his charge to safety inside the ship.

Moments later, the visual is on Amanda again, her camera stable and the Marine clearly seen standing at the entrance of some room Amanda now occupies.

"The uh....the ships fired on us in warning, I'm told. I got a good bit of that on camera, I think. The Captain has me in his statesroom for the moment for my protection. It's apparently one of the strongest parts of the ship. I'm behind the bridge where I am, so I think I'll try to gather some information before-"

The camera shakes, as does the room, the entire ship possibly. Alarms sound as men are seen rushing in the background. The Marine somehow managed to stay upright, watching outside closely as he readied his sidearm and placed it back in its holster. Over the ships PA a voice resonates.

"Battlestations! Battlestations! This is not a drill! We are under attack! To your stations!"

As the announcement continues, Amanda is seen looking to the Marine. "I need to see!" she says simply. The Marine is seen cringing for a moment, then nodding. He waves her on and the two rush out as the camera is turned off.

The camera is turned back on. There is clear sound of gunfire. The ship shakes with the massive report of her six 16-inch guns going off in tandem. The visual is from a deck on the side of the ship, facing the direction of the enemy but with a hard bulkhead nearby for protection. The report from the starboard 5-inch guns is resounding as they go off under their auto-loading system. Amanda is in focus briefly as she turns the camera away from her, facing now towards the ocean and the hostile vessels. They are firing as well, but strangely none of their shots appear to be close. The Dreadnoughts fire is spot on, assisted by modern technology the majority of the shots hits or closely misses.

The camera is sharply turned upward as Amanda is clearly heard shrieking briefly. From the bow a plume of smoke emerges followed by an intense bright light as a missile, probably a Harpoon, launches from the bow vertical launch tubes. Another plume follows, then another as the ship violently shakes from the report of one main turret, then the other. The camera is turned in time to see a shell hit directly on one of the frigate-sized vessels, causing a massive explosion. As it goes off, plumes of smoke and light are seen from the destroyer-sized vessel. As they rise, the Harpoons which were fired moments earlier from the Dreadnaught are seen in view skimming towards their targets.

"Look!" cries the Marine as he points, his hand briefly in view.

"What am I seeing?!" cries Amanda back through the noise.

"The missile! The enemy missile!"

The view sharpens as, clear as day, one of the enemy missiles that was fired appears to be a dud, tumbling end over end into the ocean. The other was not, appearing true as it begins to aim towards the Battlecarrier. As it does, two massive explosions are seen as the destroyer-sized ship erupts into a massive fireball from the Harpoon missile impacts. The sound of gatling guns is heard behind Amanda as the the CIWS on the Battlecarrier erupts with a resounding BRRRRRTT! that is easily heard over even the 5-inchers. The camera panes to watch the streams of molten lead arch across and unite their aim towards the incoming missile, which thankfully explodes a short and safe distance away.

The camera turns as in view are two F-35B's. Unmolested by enemy fire now, they unleash their missiles clearly seen in the distance. Tiny specs erupt in fire and shoot out as the Lightning II's turn away. The missiles streak home towards one of the frigates, detonating it in a smaller but equally impressive explosion. The last view seen is of the last remaining frigates turning away, under heavy fire from the Dreadnought.

The scene shifts, now of Amanda back in the provided stateroom. The Marine is back in the doorway.

"As of 1030 hours, the enemy presence has been all but eliminated. The remaining ship was last seen sailing back the way it came. When the Captain releases me from protection I'll provide the necessary interviews to collaborate with the events I've recorded. This Amanda Surreh for the Confederate States National News."

The scene shifts. The anchor is in view now, Amanda Surreh's report has ended. His eyes visibly seen gazing to the left and focused as if he was on the edge of his seat. A brief, barely visible startle as he realizes he's on live. Without missing a beat he addresses the camera.

"Due to the recent events and the nature of these events, reports are still being filed through as I speak. The Confederate States Navy has made no comment surrounding the group calling itself the Thousand Testaments other than that what was stated in the video is factual and properly represented. As of the time of this breaking news broadcast, there have been no reports of casualties from either the civilians on the cruise liners Anaconda and New Luna or the CSS Dreadnaught. We are still awaiting word from Journalist and Reporter Amanda Surreh and we thank her for her front line reporting.

CONFEDERATE NAVY DISPATCHES FLEETS ABROAD; REACTIVATION OF NIMITZ SUPERCARRIERS

Following yesterdays issuance of an executive order by President Mileethus Canisilus, top brass in the Confederate States Navy announced today the movement of fleets in compliance with the orders of the President

"The President has issued Executive Order #5437C, detailing support for the United Revolutionary States of Janpia both economically and militarily," announced Admiral Azeem Goldsmith, who has taken over much of the Navy's representation to the press in recent months. "The Confederate States Navy has complied with the orders of its Commander in Chief to the best of our capability. What assets we do not already have on active patrol in Gholgoth have been activated. Additionally, several dozen merchant marine vessels have been contracted or allocated for the purposes of humanitarian operations and supply transport to better coordinate our response to these orders issued."

At the press briefing with Admiral Goldsmith, details were released of task force movements and allocation. The five Nimitz-class Super Carriers left within the Confederate States Navy, all due for decommissioning procedures, have been reactivated with crews already in the process of replenishing the ships supplies, munitions, and aircraft. CVN-80 CSS Aries, CVN-81 CSS Exeter, CVN-82 CSS Pathfinder, CVN-83 CSS Glassford, and CVN-84 CSS Cerberus had all already been returned to their home ports for decommissioning procedures by earlier this year, with the last to arrive being the CSS Glassford. However, due to delays and the potential for a nation-wide crisis, the carrier decommissioning procedures were significantly delayed. The last two to arrive in their home ports, CSS Glassford and CSS Exeter, were kept in a state of readiness in the case of a national emergency.

"Chief Admiral Dave Evans has ordered the immediate dispatch of CSS Glassford from her berthing in the State of Lexington. She will be the first super carrier to respond to the executive orders, along with a contingent of escort ships that has been determined by availability and readiness," Admiral Goldsmith had said during the press briefing. "At this time, this task force consists of two battleships, four cruisers, seven destroyers, a submarine, and one fleet tender to comprise the makeup of Naval Task Force Glassford."

Information relayed to the press following the conclusion of the meeting detailed the names and classes of ships involved, as well as further details concerning the Naval Task Force Glassford. The Confederacy-class Battleships BBGN-871 CSS Commonwealth and BBGN-863 CSS Saratoga are intended to be carrier escort ships for the high seas, with the CSS Commonwealth having been recently constructed and launched following sea trails earlier last year. The four cruisers are listed as Ticonderoga-class, though no ship names were immediately listed signaling that the Confederate Navy was still allocating the units. The six destroyers are a mixture between two Edmond Goff-class Guided Missile Destroyers and four Spruance-class destroyers; The DDG-19 CSS Rodger Williams and DDG-32 CSS Jennifer Eunice Hawkins comprise the Edmond Goff-class compliment while the DD-15 CSS Kilberry Hines, DD-25 CSS Powder River, DD-23 Arnoldson Town, and DD-05 Jaketown comprised the Spruance-class compliment. The submarine was listed in the press release as "activated and on duty", however was not named, though sources suspect there is a high likelihood of it being a Thursday-class Nuclear Attack Submarine or a Stiletto-class Nuclear Attack Submarine as both were present in the area of the CSS Glassford during reactivation.

The fleet tender mentioned during the press conference is the Plymouth City-class Auxiliary Destroyer Tender Ship ADTS-03 CSS Small Rock, which was publicly listed as being in the area of the Supercarrier Glassford tending to patrol boats in the vicinity. It has since been dispatched to Naval Task Force Glassford following a replenishing of its stores and supplies and is expected to merge with the Naval Task Force in a few hours as of this press release. It is being escorted by the Spruance-class destroyers CSS Kilberry Hines and CSS Powder River, which will also merge with the Naval Task Force upon arrival.

"We do not anticipate to activate any of our Anagonia-class or Elliot Armstrong-class Strike Carriers for these necessary patrols," Admiral Goldsmith said in response to a question from the press concerning the activation of strategic Anagonian carrier assets. "These assets are vital to the protection and patrol of domestic trade lanes and the homeland of Anagonia. In addition, all Boxer-class Light Carriers are presently on Anti-Piracy assignments across Gholgoth and cannot be allocated elsewhere. It has therefore been made a national defense priority that all Nimitiz-class Supercarriers be reactivated and assigned with their respective fleets as soon as possible."

The press briefing ended with Admiral Goldsmith going over the planned and expected departure dates of each Naval Task Force. Naval Task Force Glassford is already underway and heading towards areas of required patrol along international trade lanes. Naval Task ForcesExeter and Pathfinder are expected to depart within the next two weeks. Naval Task Forces Cerberus and Aries are not expected to depart until next month, due in part to the fact that the CSS Aries was almost in the process of being stripped and the CSS Cerberus will need to undergo refitting of critical systems. The Confederate States Navy has called upon the Lexington National Shipyards to assist with the Cerberus and Aries, whose help is expected to significantly improve the chances that both Supercarriers will depart by next month or sooner if procedures go smoother than planned.

It was never intended to happen this way. That was what Captain Chapayev Leonidovich, born in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of Nodea Rudav and a recent Citizen of the Confederate States, stated to CMN reporters on Monday, August 15th.

"Maybe two years ago I finished my citizenship tests and was accepted as a citizen in Anagonia," Captain Leonidovich told CMN Junior Military Analyst Chelsie Sanders in response to her questions during an interview onboard the CSS Exeter as the ship was underway on Monday morning. "The United Continental Confederation sorted all the paperwork and everything else for me, everything else was simple. Very simple. I was growing old - I'm 55 now! - and the Soviet Union doesn't have much of a navy anymore. I wanted to advance my career here, retire in maybe fifteen or ten years. But it wasn't supposed to start like this. It was never intended to happen this way."

"Not that I'm complaining!" added Captain Leonidovich

With Executive Order #5437C in "hard effect", a form of Confederate Navy lingo signifying an order that is underway with "all due haste", the Confederate Navy had to scramble to find crew and command staff to operate the Nimitz-class Supercarrier CSS Exeter as she was being prepared for deployment. Being the closest to the Exeter, the Confederate Navy chosen the native-born Rudavian as their primary choice.

"I was awoken perhaps at 0430 yesterday, strange phone call and all. I was scared the UCC was gonna call and say that everything I had endured to transition into my citizenship was done wrong or there was a problem with paperwork somewhere, but no, none of that," Captain Leonidovich had stated. "My wife was the first to answer. She spoke, 'Dear, dear! It's the Navy! The blue one!' and I immediately knew that I was being called to duty. I had dreamed of maybe a battleship or another command, I was actually undertaking command classes for command of a Lexington-class Battlecarrier. I fancy big guns and fast planes, you know?"

The Soviet Union of Nodea Rudav views its assets as "Red". Traditionally, the Military of the Soviet Union gives colorations to specify different military forces across the globe in accordance with multiple variables, all of which are assigned with some manner of reputation. In the case of the Confederate States, the "Blue One" as referenced by Captain Leonidovich wife is the actual strategic identifier that Nodea Rudav has for Anagonian forces. It is trained in all citizens of the Soviet Union to use this as some form of recognition, but it is hard pressed into Military Veterans such as Chapayev himself. Upon mentioning this variable, he stated his transition into the Confederate Military was, "somewhat awkward but very eyeopening" in regards to how they viewed the world. "It was all so simplistic in the Soviet Military," he had added for clarification.

"I took maybe an hour or two to get ready and kiss my wife Kornilova goodbye. She is a year younger than me, very beautiful, very wise. I have friends, neighbors who will see to her well being for sure. I am not concerned, and I have already spoken to her this morning," Captain Leonidovich said in response to a question on whether he was concerned for his wife during his deployment.

"It was all very rushed, felt very rushed," Captain Leonidovich added in comments about the reactivation of the CSS Exeter. "When I arrived it was total chaos, almost. Nothing like a Soviet naval base at all. Nothing seemed organized, and everything seemed a horse-hair away from falling to pieces. I managed to get with the Chief Logistics Officer, only to discover he was in the same boat as me! Hah! Yes, after a time of us discussing we got things organized. The Confederate Navy was considerably caught off guard by these events, but our response has been exceptional in my opinion. No greater military I have seen can rush a Supercarrier into active duty so fast. Of course the Exeter was already in a reserve state, so that helped."

When asked why he thought the CSS Glassford was first to deploy, Captain Leonidovich remarked, "The Glassford was stored in Lexington in the National Shipyards there, it's no wonder they got it going so fast. Those people up there are true professionals, don't play around. The proof of that was displayed with the swift departure of the Glassford."

When asked if he thought Saratoga Naval Shipyards was inferior, he quickly replied, "Not at all. I rather implied that due to the chaos they acted with utmost professionalism and undertook their job exceptionally. All credit to them."

The CSS Exeter, as of publishing of this article, has successfully rendezvous with its Naval Task Force. Named Naval Task Force Exeter, the Task Force is comprised of ships available at the time of deployment.

Two Confederacy-class Fast Battleships, the BBGN-872 CSS Empire and the BBGN-869 CSS Confederation, are present in the Task Force as Carrier Defense and Escort. One Edmond Goff-class Guided Missile Destroyer was acquired for close support, the DDG-37 CSS Megan Vilma Mueller. Additionally, two Spruance-class Destroyers are with the fleet - the DD-18 Yorksville and DD-13 Abletown. Four Andrew Shane-class Guided Missile Frigates were acquired for perimeter defense of the Task Force; the FFG-80 Fortress Ostiv, FFG-75 Liberty Castle, FFG-63 Stewart Greene, and the FFG-60 Robert Leeson are all present in the Task Force. Two Nightveil-Class Guided Missile Frigates are accompanying the Task Force - the FFG-05 CSS Thomas C. Doom and the FFG-51 CSS Fallen Wind .

The Confederate Navy has stated that two Submarines are present and "on active duty" with Naval Task Force Exeter but as before has refused to state what grade or type of submarine. According to Confederate Navy Asset Movement Reports, there is a high likelihood they are the SSN-06 CSS Thunderstorm and the SSN-04 CSS Tsunami, both being Voleur-class Nuclear Attack Submarines. There is a small chance that the submarines could be two Ohio-class Nuclear Cruise Missile Submarines, the SSGN-100 Nicole Armstrong and the SSGN-101 Ethan Dixon, however this is mostly dismissed as the two Ohio-class submarines are supposed to be undergoing refits and repairs at the Saratoga Naval Base.

Similar to Naval Task Force Glassford, Naval Task Force Exeter has in its ranks a Plymouth City-class Auxiliary Destroyer Tender Ship. The ADTS-02 CSS Liberty City was assigned to the Task Force following its completion of replenishing of other naval assets and resupply, whereupon it made way to form up with Naval Task Force Exeter under the escort of the DD-18 Yorksville and DD-13 Abletown, who were also scheduled to be a part of the Task Force.

Shortly after a morning breakfast, the CSS Exeter crossed over from the Sea of Independence into the Anagonia Ocean. It was here that Chelsie Sanders and the rest of the Confederate Military News press departed the Exeter. Farewells were sent and well wishes were given.

"You always have to be on your toes," Captain Leonidovich had remarked to a Confederate Military News reporter before their departure of the CSS Exeter. "Things change. Situations change. Life changes. It will happen and continue to happen. But if you have the love and support of a wonderful wife, as I do, or even family and friends....it makes it all the more bearable. And you got to want it to, this life I mean. Where I am. If you don't, then the Confederate Navy will toss you around unexpectedly. But this advice can apply to any walk of life, so godspeed to you all. Thanks for departing with us."

NAVAL TASK FORCE GLASSFORD ARRIVES TO THE SICHANASHI OCEAN

The seas are choppy this time of year, in the late fall months leading to the growing cooling across much of the globe. The air feels chilly yet, at points, breezes past with a warmth normally reserved for spring. On the deck of the CSS Glassford, the crew goes about their duties with trained precession. A wing of F/A-18EF Super Hornets launches from the deck, followed by a E-2D Hawkeye in quick succession. As the Hawkeye launches from the deck, another begins its approach to land from the rear of the Supercarrier. There are crewmen and women rearming and refueling various grades of military aircraft in designated areas of the deck.

The movement of the crew is hurried, but precise and with intent. Off to the port-side of the ship the Battleship Commonwealth sails while her sister-ship the Saratoga sails on the starboard-side. Both making an impressive visage for the backdrop of the carrier and a heavy show of force on the high seas. The rest of the Naval Task Force is in close formation, showing off the Confederate dedication to protecting trade lanes in this part of the world.

"The President wanted us here so that he could project military power in this region if necessary," explained bluntly Captain Titus Prince during an interview on Tuesday Afternoon. His XO, Commander Victor Kirkland, is seen off the side handing out orders to the bridge. "There's a lot of instability here. A lot of potential for a powder keg to go off. The President wanted to ensure his show of support was adequately protected. That's the very reason we're here. Solve any problems and sort out the issues."

Naval Task Force Glassford arrived in the Sichanashi Ocean early Tuesday morning around 0430 hours. Their arrival was met with little fanfare, with the fleet organizing into an appropriate formation and Captain Prince ordering a patrol pattern to maximize tactical presence. Backchannel diplomatic discussions with the United Revolutionary States had been conducted before the arrival of the Naval Task Force, with the end result being full permission from Janipa for Anagonian naval movement across their waters. As of reporting of this article, backdoor negotiations were still ongoing on whether the fleet would be able to utilize a port-of-call in Janipa national ports.

"Only remarks I've heard from the Janipan Navy is a formal greeting," Captain Prince said in response to a question on what extent he had commuicated with the United Revolutionary States. "They seem friendly enough. That's all I care about."

The CSS Glassford has been conducted routine air patrols over a span of ocean around 100 nautical miles surrounding the ship. If the Anagonian presence hadn't been noticed before, it would have been by now, or so Captain Prince remarked.

"My job is to make sure the civilian shipping lanes see our planes, see our insignia, and know we're here to protect them," the Captain said. "Any civilian vessel operating under the authority of a nation either unaligned to present events, or supporting the United Revolutionary States, has absolutely nothing to worry about."

When asked about the ones that came from governments unsupportive of Janipa, he remarked that, "we're actively watching them".

"I don't plan on having my fleet commence boarding operations just yet," Captain Prince replied when asked if he'd show any enforcement of any embargos or maritime restrictions. "The Confederate Navy just isn't clear on what it wants to enforce and agree with and what it doesn't. The Countesian Federal Navy, for example, is already actively apprehending and boarding Marajarbian merchant vessels. I think one of their ships recently had a collision if I'm right? Anyway, the Countesian's are already actively enforcing their interpretation of the laws necessary to provide stability. The Confederate Navy is waiting on its Admirals to conclude if that's our policy as well or if the President has a different policy we need to follow. Right now my only orders are to show our presence, attack pirates at will, protect trade, and protect the trade to and from Janipa."

There is currently no public announcement on the duration the President has set for the patrol that Naval Task Force Glassford is undertaking as of the publishing of this article.

"I can almost promise you we'll be here for a few months," Captain Prince replied in questions about the duration of the patrol. "Maybe a year or more if we get port-of-call and resupply permissions from our new friends in Janipa. If not, then I don't think we'll be out here for too long. Long way from the mainland, I think, even with a properly protected chain of logistics. At least in regards to surface ships. Submarines? You bet they'll be here longer than anything. I'm pretty sure of that. But beyond that I can't and wont speculate further."

The videocall interview ended with farewells and a few more scenes of the CSS Glassford shared by the Captain and fellow members of the bridge crew.

Speculation aside, the Confederate Navy has stated that they fully intend to support and operate near Janipan waters for as long as necessary. It is very clear that Naval Task Force Glassford will be abroad for - at the very least - several months. The Confederate Navy has promised that families back home will be kept appraised of the situation, and that crew will have available all manner of equipment to keep communication open between themselves and their families.

President Mileethus Canisilus and Vice President Franklin Johnson were at the National Press Headquarters on Saturday, August 20th to discuss many leading national issues facing the Confederacy in the coming years. Among the most notable topics of discussion was the upcoming Supreme Court of the Confederacy deliberations on key issues facing the the Commonwealth of Lexington and the Territory of the West Islands, which has recently gripped the nation as Territory Governor Jordan Cabrera of the West Islands and Prime Minister Jeet Vaknis of Lexington have recently been sharing cross words. This all started on Wednesday, April 7th, 105 AUR during the Year 104 Presidential Elections. On that day, Chief Judge Stewart Thornton, who continues to represent the Commonwealth of Lexington to the Supreme Court of the Confederacy, gave his final closing arguments and thoughts on Case C055342 which represented the legality and authority of the Territory of the West Islands to secede from the Commonwealth of Lexington. Since that day, growing resentment between both political establishments in the Territorial Government and the Commonwealth has stewed, reaching a boiling point only last month with the Commonwealth of Lexington filing an official challenge of legitimacy to the Supreme Court.

The Seven Chief Justices, each representing a Sovereign Member-State of the Confederate States, will be deciding on Case C055342(a) labeled as challenged by the Commonwealth. If the Supreme Court approves the challenge of legitimacy, a new case will be approved to be opened to allow the Commonwealth of Lexington to claim back ownership of the Territory of the West Islands.

"Case C055342-A is a very serious concern for this administration," commented President Canisilus during the press visit on Saturday in reply to the question on how serious the government took the issue. "The Territory of the West Islands has prospered into its own unique entity since its inception and contributed greatly during the national crisis which took the lives of Chief General Elliot Armstrong and Chief General Titus Bond. They, along with several other states, contributed what amounts to a large amount of their militia forces to stabilize the country and eliminate active terrorist cells. I have been in discussion with Prime Minister Vaknis and Territorial Governor Cabrera on this issue. I believe in the authority of our Supreme Court in their capacity to resolve this issue legally and through the powers invested into them by our Constitution."

Topics of discussion moved on during the press briefing on Saturday to the growth of the Confederate Military over the last two years. Chief Admiral Dave Evans was present briefly to answer questions and comments that have escalated since the reinvestment of national funds towards the growth of the military industrial complex. Most notable of those concerns, the reactivation and deployment of the Confederate Navy's Nimitz-class Supercarriers.

"I remember reporting to the Grand Senate about a year ago concerning my plans to downsize the Confederate Navy, specifically our aging Supercarriers," Chief Admiral Evans remarked at the press visit on Saturday during the middle of discussions regarding national issues on the military in response to press questions on the topic. "I do remember in fact stating that all five of the Nimitz-class Supercarriers that are now in the process of or have been through reactivation were to be decommissioned or sold. I can state that we were a month away from finalizing a deal with the Soviet Union of Nodea Rudav on two of the carriers specifically, of which I will not name, with a single other in the talks to be sold to the Imperial Empire of Drekamythia. Those plans, all of the plans, have been vastly altered and changed due to Executive Order Number 5437C. I undertook the methods necessary to comply with the order from my Command in Chief and I additionally reallocated funds to ensure full compliance for years to come, as necessary and as required. I state very clearly I am in full compliance with the Articles of the Armed Forces of the Confederacy and am enacting actions which are preserving the continuity of our nation and way of life."

The press visit and briefing concluded with the expected questions concerning the latest developments with the United Revolutionary States of Janpia and other serious concerns that involves the Kalsight Treaty Organization, of which the Confederate States is a new Member-Nation of. The President had this remark to say.

"I am fully aware and kept informed of the situation involving the United Revolutionary States of Janpia, the Naval Federal Union of
Southeast Marajarbia, recent remarks by the Commonwealth of Greater Sirne, and other issues pertaining to our involving the Kalsight Treaty Organization. I am fully aware am being kept appraised of each issue as they happen and are addressed internationally. By my order, the Confederate States has already deployed two aircraft carriers to the vicinity of the United Revolutionary States to prove and show our commitment not only to our new friends in Janpia, but also the KTO as a whole. I am already approving further executive orders to enable the Chief Admiral to utilize assets and resources and funds necessary to ensure the protection and survival of trade to and from the Confederate States. I have undertaken, performed, and enacted all measures necessary of me as President of these Confederate States in response to this ongoing critical crisis that we face internationally, that will inevitably impact us domestically.

With that clearly stated, I will state this. The Confederate States does not want a war. The Confederate States will, however, enact any and every measure to protect not only its own interests, but also those of its allies in the KTO. I have taken note of the rhetoric from both neutral parties and enemies of the United Revolutionary States. I am extremely displeased with them thus far, yet I have remained quiet in continued hopes that diplomacy will win the day. It is my job as President to give diplomacy every possible avenue to succeed and I believe firmly I have undertaken that process responsibly and with accountability. However, I will make one thing clear to the enemies of the Kalsight Treaty Organization. Any act of attempted boarding, impoundment, entrapment, or therefore any act that will inhibit the progress of any trading vessel from any member of the KTO shall be considered by the Confederate States as an act of aggression against our interests, with the possibility of a declaration of war if diplomatic negotiations fail or are refused concerning each and every instance or issue that transpires."

Following the press visit and briefing, the National Press, including national news networks, were set ablaze with the statements by the President concerning the position of the Confederate States in regards to protecting trading vessels belonging to the Kalsight Treaty Organization. The majority of the nation has been polled as standing behind President Canisilus with his bold statements, with a position of 87% as of the publishing of this article online. The remaining 13% were either neutral to the international affairs or partially against, with only a 2% margin of citizens leaning "hard against" the Presidents position. With the fallout continuing from the statements of the President involving a possible declaration of war, should diplomatic efforts fail, the Confederate States finds itself in an awkward position as both peacekeeper and peacemaker.

According to the President, the Government wants to allow the diplomatic process to succeed by all costs. It remains to be seen if enemies of this diplomatic process will test the resolve of not only the President and the Confederate Government, but also the Confederate Military which now has two Supercarriers at his disposal near the epicenter of this historic international trade dispute.

The final remarks come from Vice President Franklin Johnson, 16th President of the Confederate States and retaining leader of the Confederate National Party. His ambitions for the nation over his five years as President are both historic and well known, as with his defeat to the relatively new then-Grand Senator Mileethus Canisilus, now 17th President of the Confederate States. Most notable of Vice President Johnson's achievements during his prior Presidency was reconciliation with many of the nations within Gholgoth, as well as establishing and cementing firm friendships and diplomatic relations with various nations abroad and within Gholgoth. Always a steady hand according to recently publish historic accounts, Vice President Johnson trimmed a fine line between maintaining a strong national military and encouraging strong diplomatic policies.

I can assure the public that when the President stated a declaration of war was possible, he meant exactly that. It is a last resort, the final resort, the absolute necessary resort to ensure the integrity and continuation of Anagonian interests. The President will not take such a declaration lightly. Diplomacy is first and foremost at the center of this administrations policies and agendas, and I as Vice President stand firmly with and behind that position and with President Canisilus."

"We mean business," Captain Chapayev Leonidovich said at the start of an interview - conducted over the internet - early Friday Morning, 19th of August. "I've already ordered the Task Force to full combat readiness. We've concluded our calls to the Janpian Navy concerning our arrival and informed them of our intent to conduct anti-piracy and trade protection patrols. We've got full authority here."

The CSS Exeter left the Saratoga Naval Shipyards early on Monday, August 15th. The transit from the Anagonian Ocean, across Gholgoth, and to the Janpian territorial waters took several days. During that time, Captain Leonidovich rigorously drilled the fleet.

"Much of the crew still had the grumps in them," remarked Captain Leonidovich with some humor. The "Grumps" is a Confederate Navy term to unofficially describe a naval personnel's state of readiness, which in this case implies fogginess or forgetfulness. "I believe I've drilled most of that out during our transit. Much of my airwing has displayed satisfactory results in recent drills and I believe we are fully operational and capable to defend and enact the authority invested to us by the President of the Confederate States."

In a press interview early Thursday morning, August the 18th, President Mileethus Canisilus had clarified on his intentions for the deployment of naval personnel abroad. He stated that his intentions were "in the best interest of international peace", and that, "by protecting our fellow alliance member-nations within the Kalisight Treaty Organization, we are displaying not only our commitment to them, but also our commitment to protecting vital trade". The press over the recent days has, according to some sources, been quite brutal of the President and his administration over the actions of deploying military forces abroad to enforce what some have claimed was, "trying to be a world policeman". This has been a common attack against the President since his Executive Order, however Captain Leonidovich sees it differently.

"I don't think our Commander in Chief was attempting to be a world policeman," the Captain stated plainly in response to the question. "We are not the United States. We are not dependent on oil or fossil fuels, for one. We have not backed ourselves into an economic corner by ridiculous world obligations, for another. We, as a nation, have been smart and intelligent thus far and this action of deploying the Exeter and the Glassford up here to Janpian is simply an exercise our capability to protect our interests, which happen to be in fact an interest of every nation if they're sane about economics. Trade protection, our interests to protect is and always will be trade protection."

When asked why the Confederate Navy was relevant in the vicinity of Janpian when the most common opponent of the United Revolutionary States, the Naval Federal Union of Southeast Marajarbia - commonly referred to as "Marajarbian", hasn't made a single realistic move against Janpian according to recent reports made by critics of President Canisilus, Captain Leonidovich dismissed the overall claims.

"I've seen the recent news reports," Captain Leonidovich had replied in response to the question. "They're overall claims center around the fact that the Naval Federal Union hasn't made any military movements towards the United Revolutionary States. They claim that is proof of our Commander in Chiefs incompetence. I claim otherwise. I claim, rather, that the very presence of our Navy and other naval forces - including those capable naval forces of the Janpian Navy, let's not forget them! - has been a deterrent. I further claim the words of our President in regards to Marajarbian aggression has placed a stop on not only their rhetoric, but also their ego. They can argue and moan and complain all they want diplomatically, that was clearly stated as being agreeable by the President. He wants dialogue and wants talks. What he doesn't want, and what I believe we have accomplished in preventing, is actual military confrontation. I think we have successfully avoided that with how fast we have responded."

Most reports coming in concerning the disagreement between the Naval Federal Union and the United Revolutionary States has not, in fact, mentioned a single instance of military confrontation. Most of the altercations stated have been either other Nations conducting operations to embargo the Naval Federal Union, which have not included the Janpian Navy as of yet, or other situations unrelated to present events.

"It's very clear to me that we're going to be stationed either here or in this general vicinity for a few months," remarked Captain Leonidovich at the conclusion of the interview. "Trade protection is the utmost importance of the Confederate Navy. It is what drives and what powers our economy. We, as a people, are a merchantlike folk. We are capitalist, we are entrepreneurs, we seek our financial gain to stabilize our well being and level of happiness. We seek to establish diplomatic relations by sharing cultures through the actions of trade. It is our number one priority, as a military branch, as the Confederate Navy, to protect that ability of all Confederate citizens to enjoy this liberty. And we do that....we do that by protecting what we're doing now, by protecting Janpian trade and economic stability. And we, the Confederate Navy, mean business in regards to protecting that. Don't test us, because we mean business."

In recent reports made to the KTO by Colonel Alexander Peterson, Anagonian Ambassador to the KTO, the Colonel clearly stated that the Confederate States is committed to protecting the interests of its allies and friends. President Canisilus has also affirmed this position of the Confederate Government. "Trade is our number one priority," the President remarked in an interview on Wednesday.

"I can assure you they're already being kept in touch," Captain Leonidovich stated at the conclusion of the interview when he was asked how communication between naval personnel and families was after some recent reports of families having issues with contacting loved ones. "One of those reported to be having issues with contact was in fact on this very ship. Midshipman First Class Tyler Bondi was his name, if I recall. What had happened was a severe weather event had transpired back at his hometown. His family had utilized the proper procedures to report to the Confederate Navy of a possible communication failure due to unforeseen circumstances. Midshipman First Class Bondi wasn't alerted until after the fact, which led to him filing a complaint. That complaint was seen by the press and used for ulterior political motives, in my opinion. I can assure you, the press, and the people that this situation has since been resolved and that Mr. Bondi's family is safe and sound following their dramatic situation. I even personally reported to Mr. Bondi and helped conduct a phone call between his family."

Midshipman First Class Tyler Bondi is a 24 year old, 8 year veteran of the Confederate Navy. His assignment on the CSS Exeter, much like that reported on of Captain Chapayev Leonidovich earlier this week, was reportedly rushed. The Confederate Navy has since released a report that the circumstances surrounding the communication blackout was "out of its control", but that it has since begun to investigate further measures to ensure proper alerts and situational updates concerning extreme weather events and any general national event are properly conveyed to impacted servicemembers as soon as possible.

"I am committed to making sure my crew are kept grounded with their families," the Captain affirmed, citing his pledge to keeping his crew involved with their families and events. "Any way possible, I am always one-hundred percent making sure there is always a line of communication somewhere open. You never know when that one crewmember or officer, or anyone really, will need that lifeline to sort themselves out. You never know. It's a very critical issue and I and the Confederate Navy take it very seriously."

INTERNATONAL NAVIES PROTECT SHIPPING AND TRADE; "A PLEASANT SURPRISE"

Captain Chapayev Leonidovich and Naval Task Force Exeter recently encountered what was called by the Admiralty of the Confederate Navy, a "Pleasant Surprise". Chief Admiral Dave Evans gave a report of the incident to Confederate Military News over the internet.

"At 0500 hours on August 20th, the CSS Exeter Naval Task Force came within fifty nautical miles of the Gonswanzan Naval Superdreadnought Alicorn," reported the Chief Admiral during the virtual interview. "Captain Leonidovich successfully initiated proper protocols for communication and strategic positioning to avoid the path of the Alicorn and forwarded the new tracking path to Naval Task Force Glassford and afterward a suggested change of patrol routes to the Admiralty, who the forwarded their recommendations to me. I have since approved the suggested change of patrol routes to accommodate our KTO allies and the spacing necessary for their assets."

When asked if the Chief Admiral was in direct contact with the Armed Republic concerning current issues, he replied that, "Contact had been made and is continuing to be utilized as the situation develops."

Later in the day, the Confederate Military News was able to have a virtual interview with Captain Chapayev Leonidovich. He had this to say in regards to the incident.

"It was a pleasant surprise," Captain Leonidovich remarked during the interview over the internet. "The Captain of the Alicorn is a real treat. The incident was brushed off easily and quite jovially. Initially, upon first contact, we thought we had missed a sizable island chain on our nautical charts. I sent an air asset to investigate which was issued a challenge. We then initiated face-to-face contact over video feed with the Alicorn and shared necessary information about our current patrol routes. It was a very wonderful conversation and we worked out together the best possible changes for both of us to avoid any further close contact situations. Fifty nautical miles might not seem like much to the average person, but to us it's quite close, and too close a call. We're going to be more active in our approach at initiating contact with fellow KTO allies and their naval assets, I can assure you of that."

When asked what the discussion between the Captain of the Alicorn and himself had been, Captain Leonidovich simply remarked, "It was polite banter and I quite enjoyed it."

The Confederate Navy currently operates a ship similar to the Alicorn. Purchased around a year ago as a package of three from the Allanean Defense Exports, only one of the three of the Hood-class Superdreadnoughts has so far been delivered to the Confederate Navy. The CSS Sovereign represents the first line of defense against possible hostilities within the Gothic region, which has almost always been dominated by super-capital warships. Up until the introduction and finalization of the Gothica-class Fast Battleship - dictated as a Super Battleship in Naval records - under a joint project between the navies of the Confederate States of Anagonia and the Meritocratic Union of Marquesan, the Confederate Navy had no adequate combantant available to challenge possible Super-Capital threats. The CSS Sovereign represents what the Confederate Navy terms as an "adequate counter" to such threats.

Originally initiated as a purchase from the direction of the late Chief General Elliot Armstrong, the CSS Sovereign was not delivered into Confederate hands until after his death. It was, as many historians have termed it, a "twist of ironic fate".

"Elliot was always first and foremost a man whose mind was on the proper defense of his country," Chief Admiral Evans remarked when asked about the now-deceased Chief Generals ambitions concerning the purchase of a Hood-class Superdreadnought. "He was keen on seeing all possible avenues and knew for a fact that even if we mobilized all of our assets in all military branches, we would fall short. The Hood-class represented to him an adequate safeguard to be activated only in a time of need. It's too expensive to operate in peacetime, but it's adequately funded for reserve status until wartime activation and funding is allocated. So, for now, it's an active-duty warship that's berthed and available to the public as a operating museum ship. I encourage your readers to visit her in the Lexington National Shipyards."

The CSS Sovereign is currently berthed in her own independent station within the Lexington National Shipyards, Commonwealth of Lexington. Citizens have free access to most non-sensitive areas of the gigantic vessel at any time of day or night, escorted by active-duty and retired naval personnel. Higher-ups in the Soviet Military admired him and he even paid several visits to Nodea Rudav during his time as Chief General of the Confederate States Armed Forces. I was at one of his speeches, in fact, and found him to be a favorable man. I enjoyed listening to his perspectives. His legacy should be honored and I am honored to be a part of the branch of the military pushing that memorial forward into the future for all citizens to see."

Video shots of the Gonswanzan Naval Superdreadnought Alicorn have since made rounds across all media outlets across the nation. As of the publishing of this article, the CSS Sovereign has reported that the Truxinix Memorial and its museum tours have spiked nearly one-hundred and twenty percent with no sign of letting down. Gary Colmers, Director of the Active-Duty Museum, has remarked that the the majority of the funds received during this influx will go directly to the Elliot Armstrong Recovery Fund in honor of the Chief Generals memory and service to his country.

President Mileethus Canisilus addressed the nation yesterday following the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

"While the Confederate States of Anagonia and the United Kingdom have had no formal relations beyond simple trade, we have admired the British people and their Royal Family from afar. Many of their people have immigrated to our lands and some of our own people have migrated there. We have shared cultures without treaties and exchanged pleasantries without words, all the while embracing one another as peoples existing and struggling to exist on this planet we call Earth. I cannot emphasize enough how much the Anagonian people have admired the British people and their culture, most of all their Queen, who has recently passed on this very day. I remember reading of Her Majesty, the Queen, when I was very young. I admired her resolve and commitment to peace and unity as I grew and her example given was one of many inspirations that helped me focus on who I wanted to be when I grew up. I cannot express enough our condolences as Anagonians, my personal condolences, to the Royal Family and the United Kingdom."

The address of the new British Monarch, King Charles III, was publicly broadcasted across the nation via the Anagonian News Network earlier today before the publishing of this article. Many heartfelt sympathies and condolences have been expressed across various platforms and mediums across the country. Shrines of Remembrance have been erected in various places across the Confederacy to commemorate the life and example of Queen Elizabeth II and her impact on the Anagonian way of life. The Imperial Drekan Church of Anagonia, in a rare public appearance, released a statement of condolences on behalf of the Church to the People of the United Kingdom.

"The Imperial Drekan Church exists to provide the worshippers of Melkos and those that seek solice in Him a way to come to terms with both life and find the strength to move on in our greatest struggle of existing. In this regard, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Second, brought the world the strength and inspiration necessary to continue on based on not only her struggles but her accomplishments within this world. In other news, the Confederate Government announced the success of its diplomatic corps on two very important occasions. President Canisilus remarked on the accomplishments in a press release earlier today.

"The Confederate States has helped draft the Saratoga Accord and the The West Islands Quadrilateral Accords. These two very important Accords each, in their right, ensures that the signatory nations involved will commit themselves to a better possible diplomatic future with one another. I send congratulations to Chief Secretary Forest Patton, our nations Chief Diplomat, for his accomplishment in the Saratoga Accord and I further congratulate Ambassador Callan Ford for his absolutely pristine accomplishment on the drafting and signing of the West Islands Quadrilateral Accords."

When asked what the Saratoga Accord meant for the two Carrier Fleets around the United Revolutionary States, President Canisilus had this to say.

"Naval Task Forces Exeter and Glassford will remain on station for their expected duration. Janpia has been a fine host to our provisionary naval protection and we anticipate our naval presence will remain in the vicinity for at least another month."

CONFEDERATE NAVY ANNOUNCES TRAINING PROGRAM COMPLETION

Chief Admiral Dave Evans announced today in a rare public address that the Confederate Navy's multi-year long mission to start a training program for both sailors and submariners is complete. The Confederate Navy began the mission under the guidance of Chief General Elliot Armstrong, who tragically died in a terrorist attack above the town of Truxinix in 105 AUR. The Chief Admiral continued those ambitions into the public light, purchasing additional military assets to greatly expand what had been a non-existent submariner training program before into what is now one of the most modern and robust programs in the known world.

The Confederate Navy Training Initiative, or CNTI, is a multi-layered training program designed to focus on the individual sailor and submariner and provide them with the correct atmosphere to train and learn. The Initiative has several training vessels at its disposal, beginning formally with the transfer of the Voleur-class Nuclear Attack Submarine's from active duty into the hands of the CNTI. With these first assets at its disposal, both former Chief General Armstrong and Chief Admiral Evans have been purchasing newer equipment over the years to bolster the Initiative and provide a stable, streamlined education experience for the Navy's cadets. Recent acquisitions include the Dotkoscho-class Training Vessel, which is a uniquely designed surface training ship outfitted to train new sailor cadets in the art of seamanship and operating a naval vessel, and the Maguro-class Nuclear Attack Submarine which is intended to provide graduated submariner cadets their first real experience on a six-month duration mission.

Chief Admiral Dave Evans remarked this at the press conference today.

"The Confederate Navy Training Initiative has completed its trifecta of intended training methods. From the training vessels acquired and specifically assigned to the CNTI to train new cadets for surface and sub-surface seamanship, to the Maguro-class Nuclear Attack Submarine which shall provide graduated and pinned cadets with their first real tour at sea, to the final stage of observation as the cadets are assigned to their permanent homes, the CNTI provides an educational and critical experience in the lives of cadets seeking to improve their capabilities as servicemen and women. While we are keenly planning on adding a surface asset much to the intention that the Maguro-class has, I believe the Navy and the CNTI are robustly complete and ready to tackle the hard tasks of training these valuable cadets into formal sailors and submariners."

The Confederate Navy has released plans to acquire at least one surface combatant vessel to act similarly to the purpose of the Maguro-class Attack Submarine. The CNTI has also discussed acquiring additional surface training vessels, similar to the Dotkoscho-class Training Vessel from Janpia, to bolster the training experience of sailors. While future plans are still being discussed formally, the well intentions of the Navy to properly educate and prepare its cadets for their jobs on board their assigned vessels has bore fruit. The CNTI is a well funded Initiative and critical part of the Confederate Navy. Other branches of the Confederate Military have already begun to take notice of the Navy's training methods, with the Confederate States Air Force already starting to draft plans for an academic process of its own for its airmen cadets.

PRESIDENT ORDERS DEFCON RAISE; GYZANTIAN INVOLVEMENT INTENSIFYING

President Mileethus Canisilus today announced that he has ordered the Confederate Military to Defcon 3. His reasoning behind this decision is the current state of affairs in the Gyzantian Civil War. Most notably mentioned was the recent incident of Janpian Naval Forces Attacking Humanitarian Assets. Additionally, the assassination of a foreign diplomat was cited in defense of the raise to the nations Defense Condition

"I have been keeping close tabs on the events unfolding in the Gyzantian Civil War with constant and numerous updates sent to me directly from Commodore Leanna Crawford, leader and commander of our humanitarian forces there," stated the President in a public interview addressing the elevated Defcon level today. "Situations transpiring there as well as in other theaters unrelated at present to Anagonian interests have led me to conclude that there are subversive and aggressive elements both within and without the Kalisight Treaty Organization. I feel that these elements have caused a severe deterioration of world stability and the stability of the humanitarian efforts within the Gyzantian theater of operations. It is therefore prudent for me, as President, to act. Thus I have."

Chief Admiral Dave Evans spoke at the press briefing as well, giving some additional information.

"By the order of our Commander in Chief, I have authorized the deployment of ninety-four Confederate Navy vessels to the Gyzantian theater of operations, including one Super Battleship and one SSBN. Numerous ground, air, and troop assets have been ushered into active duty status and will be transported to the warzone. Bombers of the Strategic Homeland Defense group will be activated for constant runs to Gyzantia to secure objectives, destroy opposition, and ensure peace and stability by force," the Chief Admiral reported. "The President and the Military are in agreement that the crimes conducted and committed by both fellow allies and neutral parties are intolerable and must be addressed. This is our official response to those crimes."

With the elevated defense condition status, citizens are informed to check in with their online duty status via their chip readouts. This will inform them directly if they are called to active duty. The Confederate Military typically contacts individuals called to active duty via cellular device, however there have been cases of accidental oversight and thus the precautionary check is recommended. Chief Admiral Evans went on to clarify this issue at the end of the press briefing.

"Effective immediately, home guard fleets and units are hereby activated, including our anti-ballistic missile defense units," added Chief Admiral Evans during the conclusion of the briefing. "Citizens are encouraged to check in with their duty-call status via the Military main website. Input your chip code to verify your duty status if you haven't been called. We apologize for previous instances of issues with the automated calling system and are working to address it. Until the system is properly addressed, citizens who find out they are active duty and have been informed otherwise will not face charges. Additionally, reserve units who have not been informed of their duty status will be granted an additional week of leave before being called to duty to ensure their affairs are in order before deployment. This policy will also be handed down to active duty personnel on an as-needed basis."

The Chief Admiral additionally added that the Military has raised the Continuity of Government Readiness Condition System - or COGCON - to level 3 to ensure appropriate protections for Confederate leadership.
