We received your vague inquiry about vegan options. We do have options that we make for small domestic rodents, rabbits, and other animals that have herbivore diets. However, we don't widely market them like our dog, cat, and ferret lines of food. They are available at direct Naturnalia retailer outlets, but we have yet to put them on our website and they are usually special ordered by customers.

As for feeding a vegan diet to dogs, cats, and other carnivores/omnivores without a veterinary reason to do so - we are strongly opposed as it is not biologically responsible and considered cruelty to animals to malnourish them. Such animals are not physiologically capable of digesting only plant proteins, without the component of animal proteins in their diet. Over the long term, they will become malnourished and eventually ill, with all sorts of health issues cropping up due to such malnourishment. It is plain and simple, animal cruelty.

While we are putting it delicately, some might be as blunt to say that forcing a vegan diet onto an animal is a very selfish, inhumane thing to do and you are anthropomorphizing animals for your own self-centered values without regard to how that animal may feel about it. An oxymoronic thing to do when your ultimate goal may be to be humane to all creatures.
I'm sure that's not what you meant though, and you meant the former example of a diet for small rodents and other herbivores to consume.

True story. I worked in pet care/pet supply retail for many years and I was a licensed pet nutritionist. We had a woman whose dog was allergic to all animal proteins, and so the veterinarian did sign off on an all vegetable/legums diet. I have never personally heard of another case since. We also did have a Hare Krishna devotee who was insistent that they feed their dog a vegan diet and we refused to serve them. They had their dog taken away from them by their parents, eventually. It is unjustified to force a biologically inappropriate diet on your carnivore pet, unless they have developed the ability to speak and eloquently requested a non-animal protein diet, then you should be in touch with Ripley's Believe it Or Not. But seriously, if you continue to force a vegan diet on a carnivore animal, you are guilty of animal cruelty as you are willingly making your pet sick. Please don't do that.
