Cabo Azure National Football Team "Las Maçaricas"
Fresh off an impressive run in the Baptism of Fire, the Maçaricas will seek to test their mettle on the game's largest stage. Paulinho has released a list of forty, some familiar names from the Baptism of Fire and Copa Rushmori, some new players matriculating from the youth squads, and a few relative unknowns.

Image

The Goalkeepers
GK: Abilio Carreira-34 y/o-Cidadela
GK: Ambrosio Gomez-18 y/o-Olympic Thessia (MYT)
GK: Rufino Antunes-27 y/o-Lagostim

Carreira starts once again between the sticks, though retirement rumors continue, with most placing the fateful day at the conclusion of this qualifying window. The Gomez v. Antunes debate is a favorite of groupchats and barrooms throughout Cabo Azure, with Gomez supporters highlighting his youth and his excellent play with the ball at his feet, while those who prefer Antunes point to his proven track record and superior shot-stopping ability. Don't be surprised if either or both of them gets a start later in the cycle.

The Defenders
RB: Julio Fernandez-29 y/o-Sao Vicente
CB: Gabriel Mendes-27 y/o-Sao Vicente
CB: Gustavo Macedo-36 y/o-Villa Silva (C)
LB: Amilcar Branco-20 y/o-Dhun Lagarr (TKT)
FB: Ademar de Lima-20 y/o-Sao Vicente
FB: Norberto Carneiro-24 y/o-Villa Silva
CB: Deodato Medeiro-20 y/o-Sao Vicente
CB: Kevin Brandão-22 y/o-Villa Arboles

The centerback pairing of team captain Macedo with the agile, aggressive Mendez proved robust in the Baptism, though the embarrassing opener against Bahia Roja, where the Maçaricas let in five goals against a team that was ultimately eliminated in the group stage, demonstrates the potential for disaster. Nevertheless, half of Cabo Azure's goals against in that tournament came from that single game, so to say the backline has been stingy otherwise is an understatement. The communication and chemistry between Sao Vicente teammates Fernandez and Mendes and between Villa Silva teammates Carneiro and Macedo is crucial to the high line Paulihno prefers. The return of Brandão from injury gives Paulinho a legitimate depth option at centerback, as well as the possibility to run five at the back if the situation calls for it.

Fullback rotation and depth proved as crucial to the Maçaricas' success in the Baptism as the outstanding overlapping play by young Portelo product Amilcar Branco, currently starting at Dhun Lagarr in Tikariot. Branco and de Lima maurad both have the pace to maurad up the sidelines and join the attack, while Fernandez and Carneiro are stay-at-home fullbacks, better suited to preserving a lead than gaining one. With the fast pace of qualifying overlapping with club play, the ability to rotate these players will be crucial.

The Midfielders
LM: Abilio Serra-31 y/o-Lagostim
CM: Quirino Alves-30 y/o-Villa Arboles
RM: Marciano Ferreira-25 y/o-Sao Cristobal
CM: Leonel Medeiros-29 y/o-Lagostim
MF: Ângelo Martins-19 y/o-Natal
MF: Vitor Rego-17 y/o-Sao Vicente

Paulinho still lacks for good options in the midfield in a roster stacked with good attackers and fullbacks. The midfield was at its best when all three players were going box-to-box, but there may simply not be enough talent in the pool for that to be a sustainable strategy. Paulinho has cleaned house from the Baptism group, removing the elder Ferreira brother and moving the younger into a starting position at right mid to replace Glaucio Santos. To fill in for the older midfielders, he has called up Angelo Martins from Copa Maçarica champions Natal and Vitor Rego, the wunderkind CDM at Sao Vicente. The former is expected to provide relief anywhere in the midfield, while the former will likely be deployed as a defensive substitution in the center.

The Forwards
LW: Fúlvio Dantas-26 y/o-Cidade de Prato
CF: Adalberto Montenegro-31 y/o-Villa SIlva
RW: Ademar Carriço-32 y/o-Villa Silva
FW: Cleto Silveira-22 y/o-Vantanoch FC (TKT)
FW: Vasco Gouveia-19 y/o-Tikariot City FC (TKT)
FW: Nelson Botehlo-24 y/o-Villa Arboles

If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Adalberto Montenegro continues to damn the critics by playing brute-force, athletic football and being bigger and stronger than most defenders he comes up against. His partner in crime, Carriço, showed something of a renewal in form in Bollonich, spreading defenses wide and feeding Montenegro for goal after goal, while the left winger was something of a rotating cast. Silveira is a versatile forward, capable of scoring with both feet, while Gouveia has the sort of pace and aggression you'd expect from a nineteen year-old playing in Tikariot. Botehlo is a like-for-like with Montenegro, though he isn't nearly as likeable.

Football Federation of Huayramarca

Official Roster for the 89th World Cup Cycle

About Huayramarca: The Plurinational State of Huayramarca, also known as ”Huayramarca Mamallaqta” in Quechua and ”Huayramarca Suyu” in Aymara (literally: Windy Country), is an extraordinarily diverse nation in terms of geography that’s located in Anaia. Crossing three time zones, from the islands, reaching the coast, hiking the mountains and then sliding into the jungle, passing massive cordilleras such as the Andes, a nation with 36 million inhabitants that is composed by 9 different ethnical groups.

Huayramarca as such is a relatively new nation for the traditional standards of it, since it was constituted on 1822 (currently, we sit on 1981 according to the Inca Calendar), the main focus of building this nation was to help different ethnic groups to gather force into the region, in order to be recognized multiversally as a nation, hence, may gather some international protection in case their rights would be abused all of a sudden by an external force.

Being completely ignorant on what was happening on the neighborhood, the Aymara, Quechua, Shuar, Guarani, Montubio, Tsáchila, Huaorani, Andoa and Candoshi ethnics decided to form the Republic with the support of neighboring nations such as the Royal Kingdom of Québec. Migration from Québec happened in the late XIX century, mostly peoples known as ”Guayabalenses” decided to move in order to seek a stable place for their families, considering that their home soil was apparently brushed off the map by a dictator called “Gregory”. That last point forced the Huayramarcans into a stronger union in order to survive.

Until the middle XX century, Huayramarca managed to survive economically from llama, alpaca and vicuña herding, since its skins are highly valuable in neighboring Québec due to their strong winters; also, coffee production helped Huayramarca to build some solid institutions that promoted national expansion near the neighboring Cocoabo Forest, that place is “La Selva”, a lush but quite dangerous forest with hundreds of rivers that come from the Andes. After some years of exploration, the authorities met the first indigenous peoples of the zone, which were exploited in order to produce rubber for tires and some mysterious chickens that were provided in order to even more mysterious sacrifices to a deity, which the local people and even the rest of Huayramarca wasn’t able to understand how she works, granted, it’s not even a part of the Incan Mythology which includes Inti (the Sun god) and others.

Said abuses committed against the jungle inhabitants caused a heavy political turmoil around 1950, which formed a divide in the nation that still remains until today: Serranos (highlanders), Costeños (coastals) against selváticos(jungle inhabitants); Those divides weren’t noticeable in economic terms but politically, with constant attempts of coup ‘d etat against the government. That situation caused some issues with the neighboring Québec, who neglected to support financially any of those groups if they don’t manage to cooperate between themselves in order to provide prosperity to a heavily hunger-suffering nation back in the time.

Aymara and Quechua peoples took the power during the remaining part of the 50’s until 1969. On that period, Huayramarca suffered a lot of “huaycos” (mudslides) caused by heavy rain storms near the Andes and Sierra, those events killed at least 300,000 people and urged for an attempt to reincorporate Huayramarca back into normality, but, how? The main bet of the government was to aim for the tourism industry, spamming the developed nations of Atlantian Oceania in order to make some tourists visit sacred places such as Illimani (a mountain that’s devoted as god for the Aymara folk), Huayna Picchu (the royal Incan palace for Quechua) and the sun drenched coast ranging from Guayaquil to Lima (specially Montañita, the best beach par excellence in northern Atlantian Oceania).

The formula was working decently, since the economy was reporting high growth numbers, but seemed to cause some lack of satisfaction on certain zones of the country, specially on the Jungle. Their inhabitants decided to support the Costeño elite in order to beat the Serrano government. 1969 election would be marked for the Huayramarcan history by the magnitude of the sabotage made against the current government, to the point of bribery or killings for their supporters, those incidents made the Costeño elite take control of government and focus even more on the Coast and Jungle, leaving aside the Sierra.

Currently, Huayramarca has a huge wealth gap between zones, the coast boasts the fact of being the economical engine of the nation despite the fact that the capital city is in the Sierra Region, while the Jungle is slowly developing with some cities such as Ormeño, Madre Santa, Virú and several others boosted by oil findings and rubber production. Sierra may be in disadvantage, but recent developments in neighboring nations may make them turn relevant once again in the nation, since lithium batteries demand is growing up and Huayramarca’s Sierra possesses one of the biggest lithium reserves of the entire multiverse.

Basically, Huayramarca is a nation of contrasts and never—ending conflicts that’s well into the deep borehole named “the natural resource course” a hard situation to overcome due to the lack of proper education, critical thinking and result-focused mindset on the population, that constantly seeks for shelter in entertainment industries such as soap operas, music, and now football. Right now, power struggles between the Costeño government led by Hugo Mina and leftist pro-Serrano social movement “Ñucanchi Ñan”made people more fond into football, since they really needed an oxygen supply inbetween a lot of crisis and turmoil that could lead to the radicalization of this conflict, to the point of seeing Ñucanchi Ñan turning into a guerrilla and killing Hugo Mina in 1981 after he wanted to exploit minerals in the Aymara holy land of Mount Illimani, located at the outskirts of Huayramarca Metropolitan District.

Since that, Huayramarca has breathed some fresh air, since Ñucanchi Ñan took power with Marta Mamani as the first woman president of the Plurinational Republic, and Augusto Buendía as VP, Huayramarca is enjoying some social transformations that may cause some shakings on what Huayramarcans were knowing as their daily life laws. Focus in sustainable economic growth, taking care of the environment and visibilization of minorities are the main topics on the political agenda, something that is being well received by many people in the nation. This environment has led to an increase in nationalism, since the national unity is being fostered as a State Policy, sports, specially football, is being the main vehicle to promote that sense, as now, the Huayramarcan Football Federation budget has been increased tenfold in order to aim for success in short-term, also aiming to send players overseas and developing techniques to enhance the player's physical and technical shape.

The latter said efforts aren't stopping despite the meager results obtained by the Condors during the last year, to the contrary, some of those fundings have diverted in attepts to build a football pyramid across the nation and creating a strong network of academies and scouting that might help, in the near future, to recruit some fresh talent that could provide Huayramarca some weapons that might help the nation to achieve their first ever World Cup Finals appearance.

Football-wise Information: As a society, Huayramarcans enjoy sports a lot, specially when politics may turn the nation into a chaos every second, they just want to run away from that horrible and desperate situation and may try luck on football.

Considering the levels of poverty on Huayramarca, many young people may give a shot for football in the chaotic Liga 1 or lower tiers, with the hopes of achieving a decent salary that may help their families to get away from poverty and huayco-prone neighborhoods. Liga 1 has fourteen teams from different parts of the country, mostly focused on the Sierra and Costa regions since those are the most heavily populated ones.

Immediately after the H-FdF creation, the president of the Plurinational State, Hugo Mina (Costeño), thought it would be a great idea to form a fringe squad for the AOCAF and then try to make it into Baptism of Fire or World Cup Qualifiers, hence he asked for Eliezer González (head of the Huayramarcan Football Federation) to try and apply for said tournaments. He sent notes in order to sign-up for those events, but he sent them incorrectly, at AOCAF, he sent it to a grandmother living up near the Andean Organization for Coffee, Agriculture and Forests (located at Cumbayá) instead of sending it to the proper AOCAF tournament organizing committee, which turned González into laughing stock for several weeks in Huayramarca. Despite that, González managed to sign-up properly for the WC, despite he was rejected for BoF because he applied to the “Burger of Fire” and not the Baptism of Fire.

After all, the HFF managed to convince 25 players from the amateur-ish Liga 1 sides to build the National Team, whose nickname is resumed to “Kuntur” (The Condors), all those players range from being high school students, to chemists, bus drivers, and even people from the local tavern, whose preference is revealed on how they named their team “Real Ebriedad”, which was later supported by Cristalina, the main brewery firm from Huayramarca. Those 25 players decided to investigate some football techniques and decided to apply them at the different games they played on the inaugural Liga 1 season that was won by Real Ebriedad (in a game where corruption was noticeable as how the referee was given beer instead of an energetic beverage).

Nothing that would be possible without the support of Omar Caicedo, a Costeño who migrated to Québec and decided to learn some football techniques while managing Beyreuth University, where he won three national titles out of eight seasons on his span with them. Caicedo is a fan of high-pressure football, known as “gegenpressing” or “El Huayco” as Huayramarcans may call if (specially Serranos, since they might be quite shy or sometimes plain dumb that doesn’t like to attack) Anyways, Caicedo’s strategy proved right on some matches played by Huayramarca against their northern neighbor, the Royal Kingdom of Québec, beating them 5-1 at Huayramarca’s Estadio Nacional (located at 4,012 masl only?!…) and tying 2-2 at Iqaluit’s Ice Hockey Rink (that’s what the players thought at playing in a frozen city… ¡Achachay!) If you wonder what’s ¡Achachay! Well, figure out you’re on top of the mountain receiving wind and gelid weather right into you, if you did it, welcome to Huayramarcan’s sense of cold shivering!

Well, coming back to football, Caicedo’s devotion for 4-2-3-1 is unquestionable, he always loves to boast of having a neat defense, two defending mid fielders that may aim to recover possession when needed, or even having one of them switching to creative duties in support of the team’s brain, Ian Mamani, then, two wingers feeding the sole striker up in the middle of the box. That striker may often go back and try to recover balls and make a power play from himself with support of a winger and then seek for a goal. He did demonstrated a lot during the first part of the World Cup Qualifiers, earning some mixed results during it, but it failed for a part of the second half, where the team accumulated an 11 winless game streak added that they weren't capable to snatch a win during their first eight local games, in fact, their first home win came at the 9th home game, after that, they won three out of their four last home games, earning a 8 games unbeaten streak to finish off the Qualifiers, which was a quite impressive recovery after having their morale smashed on the floor and some players even considered suicide, since they were considered to be a mediocre living fail walking through their home cities streets.

Said streak wasn’t a mere happening, it was somehow a confirmation on how the Huayramarcan National Team had turned into a squad that tried to consolidate themselves as a hardworking team, with limited chances to put some squads in troubles but capable enough to defend well and to avoid harm being done against them. The Cup of Harmony 77 was an interesting test for the team, to see if they are capable to handle out the nerves of what it implies to be struggling for a knockout spot until the last second of the last match, which is what happened to the Condors, since they tied their first three games, they had a chance to get into the last rounds but they had to face Port Ember, the top seed of their group. Huayramarca succumbed to the nerves and wasted a 2-0 lead to see how Port Ember scored five goals in quick succession, nothing more to do for a Huayramarcan squad that seemed capable to pull off a decent feat.

The AOCAF 60 saw how a somewhat forged squad perform against the top dogs into their region, a path that won’t show immediate results and may fuel some anger amongst the Huayramarcan populace and media, but, the patience of Omar Caicedo and his pupils is being determinant in order to see if this generation profiles themselves to be somehow relevant. A 1-7 against Equestrian States, followed by draws and a win, helped the team to gather some confidence, despite the terrible beginning on said championship.

A spectacular beginning on World Cup 86 Qualifiers helped the Condors to finish 4th in the first half of qualifiers, being two points below the second placed squad, but defeats against top dogs such as Ko-oren and Tequilo killed the desires of this national team to qualify, also, instigated by poor performances against low and other mid-ranked nations boosted that debacle. The Cup of Harmony wasn't different to the end of the World Cup Qualifiers, it was in the same shape, defeats, defeats and pressure on the squad due to the fact that they were worried on what was happening on Huayramarca, due to the death of Hugo Mina, uncertainty arosed and caused the players to have a subpar performance in the tournament, despite a late win that turned to be the first ever one for Huayramarca in the Cup of Harmony.

With the latest investments made by the Huayramarcan Government to the Huayramarcan Football Federation, by multiplying tenfold their budget, the HFF has now sent the managerial staff of the Condors to other nations, in order to gather new ideas and apply those in order to build a competent side in tactical terms, with the main purpose to achieve World Cup qualification for the first time as soon as possible and provide that joy to the Huayramarcan folk. That heavy investment provided some benefits during the 87th World Cup Qualifiers, where Huayramarca left behind the label of being an "uncomfortable rival" to take a protagonic role in their group, finishing second, behind Audioslavia, with a solid 40 points in 18 matches. Things in playoffs might be forgetable since the beginning, since Huayramarca didn't took advantage in the first leg despite playing home, tying with Tikariot and then being defeated heavily at the second leg (1-4), made the Condor's illusions of WC Qualifying end horribly.

Despite the downturn in the team's mindset, the team faced some struggles at the Cup of Harmony group stage. Being defeated by Mriin at the first game, defeating Garifunya 1-0 and then tying against Ibixa for the second time in the cycle sent the Condors to the Knockout phase of CoH for their first time ever, Xanneria was a hard rival for the Round of 32, Huayramarca's miracle run was about to start with a narrow 2-1 win over them; then two rock-solid performances against Saint Domingue and a well-known foe from the WCQ Group (Sargossa) with a 3-1 and 2-0 respectively, put Huayramarca among the best four sides in the Cup of Harmony. Being defeated by Mriin with a hard-fought 2-3 and then once again a 1-4 against Newmanistan were enough to confirm Huayramarca as the 4th placed side, with desire to improve their performance in this World Cup Qualifier, hoping to achieve heights that they haven't reached ever before, this, as a way to lift their mood after a quite discrete participation in the last AOCAF, where they won only one time, tied two and were defeated two times.

World Cup 88th would prove to be an interesting situation for the team and fans overall, Huayramarca would have a rather forgettable first half of the qualifiers, with a 6-game winless streak that became a ballast enough to keep the team away from the Top-3 during the entire Qualifier. Despite that, with an affected morale, the team tried to struggle back in hopes of a miracle, something that didn't happened but made the team finish the cycle with a rather strong 7-game unbeaten streak that prolongued to the Cup of Harmony and through the begining of CAFA, being then a 13-game unbeaten streak, hence, the longest period that Huayramarca has ever enjoyed without a single defeat. Despite being eliminated from CoH at Round of 32 in AET and then in CAFA Group Stage, the team has managed to recover their path with a decent ending for a cycle that seemed to be catastrophic to say the least.

Now, the Huayramarcan National Team has learned the lessions and healed their wounds, with some preparations made, the team expects to perform decently in order to keep into the top spots of their group, they are aware that they need to finally make the Huayramarcan soil a hard place to play in order to get as much points as possible, so that would help in any situation they might face. There are situations that doesn't changes, Omar Caicedo continues with the team and it's expected to do so since it's a process he has started and wishes to have some success with them, his tactics have suffered some scrutiny, but during the last months, Caicedo has been able to get some certifications and knowledge gains that might help him to build a stronger team in the tactical sense of the word. Time will give it's verdict sooner than later if Caicedo's tactics still work out or are already outdated.

No matter what happened during the last months or years, Huayramarcan football keeps being distinguishable on how prone are they to do long range shots, due that they are used to play at significant heights, the lack of oxygen may make the ball travel further without applying a lot of strength during the mechanics of kicking the football, that is known as the “Andean Effect” and may cause serious troubles for visiting sides on Huayramarca, adding the main fact that breathing might be harder for those used to low altitudes.

Without further ado, the starting XI and substitutes are presented in the following tables:

Team mentality: Huayramarcans, per se, are bold and quite diverse between the team due to the regional contrasts among them: You might note some surnames such as: Condori, Mamani, Quispe, Sayritupac, etc. Those are Serrano surnames. Serranos as such are quite shy people with non-serranos, between them, great footballing societies may be made due to their complete understanding of each other, they are quite homogenous on how they act and may be predictable for each other. But, for the non-expert eye, Serranos are one on their kind and could result unpredictable for them, since they love to do things at fast pace between them, without doubt one could send a 60 meters cross with complete confidence that they might find their teammate, with this, you can notice that Serranos are overconfident on themselves and somewhat dubious with Costeños and Selváticos. Other characteristic of Serranos is that they are quite easy to intimidate, being shy and short-sized doesn’t helps, but in that situation, they might opt to act even better than they do for the sake of shutting your mouth.

Costeños and Selváticos (jungle) in the other hand are confident with everybody, even if they might not receive the same treatment by their Serrano fellows. Those two groups conform the rest of the team and might do good societies on field, declining the quality of their chemistry when trying to connect with Serranos, due to the latter shy mood. Physically speaking, Costeño and Selváticos are people who boast being the tallest overall in the team, also, their mania for body preparation at gyms make them suitable to defensive duties and running on the wings since they love running crazily (they usually do that, since they are used to run away from police or a mob of angry Serranos after robbing).

Overall, the team has some issues while trying to build chemistry, since there are two well-marked groups with some issues, but may try to join forces when needed or when they are being heavily massacred (football-wise) such as it happened on World Cup Qualifiers, when they were 3-2-6 on the first half of Qualifiers, they managed to comeback decently with a 5-6-2 sheet for the second leg, turning it into an overall 8-8-8, which is nothing bad for the usual accountability of unranked nations. Leaving aside those issues, the team boasts some decent characteristics for running on the wings, the team itself is fast paced but may have problems while struggling physically (especially if a Serrano is trying to mark) since they aren’t so strong to do that, albeit, the consequences of it may be noticeable only with high-ranked teams.

Cup of Harmony and AOCAF weren't precisely the best participation that Huayramarca could've done, at least they put some decent opposition on the CoH with three tied games and losing the final one, despite they had the chance to get into the knockouts had they won the game against the top seeded side of Port Ember, but two goals were the nail into the coffin for the Condors. Equestrian States, the hosts of AOCAF were the ones ready to face Huayramarca for its debut, a shameful and one that Huayramarca will be likely to skip the page since the hosts drove over the Condors with an astounding 7-1, then, some defeats were complicating Huayramarca and left the side without chance to reach the playoffs, one tied game and the first victory ever of this side against Yesopalitha were the games that somehow let Huayramarca with some dignity and not being able to be the worst team of the tournament.

For the second cycle in World Cup Qualifiers, things will not change and the same squad with the same managing team will try to do a somewhat decent participation in a group that looks as complicated as the last WCQ one did seemed. There's some experience for this side right now, also, their skills might be improving since they are getting the real professional experience rather than the one they could find this year in the inaugural season of the Huayramarcan Liga-1|2|3 system. Caicedo had some hard time during the AOCAF, his head would be on risk in another nation, but being the only one able in Huayramarca to manage a team like this one is a point on his favor, still, he does know that patience won't be eternal, hence, the need to recover the path will be fundamental, specially on home where there could be a lot of advantage, even more in the capital city, perhaps one of the most difficult venues in the multiverse. Risks have been taken, Caicedo decided to take the team into a series of high-performance camps all across Huayramarca instead of taking friendlies, since he considers that chemistry and tactics need a new breeze, specially an adaptation to a new physical stamina level that he does want to apply to the players, hence, a lot of physically-demanding activities have been done by the team during the New Year holidays.

To finish with this part, Huayramarca is that kind of team that may be overconfident sometimes, but if you press them to their limits, they might react in unsuspected ways, be those positive or negative for their interests, you don’t know what would happen in the Serrano, Costeño or Selvático mindset. As they do on the local league, they might try to do some antics to their rivals, be it: providing beer instead of water to their rivals, or the classiest one, giving distillated “ayahuasca” (vodka-like alcohol) and pass it like water and make their rivals be drunk, taking advantage of their influence to beat the rival team. Of course, they might not abuse of this resource, Serranos might ask Inti for it.

Game Scheme: Caicedo aims to use always a 4-2-3-1 scheme that he dubs it as “El huayco” (the mudslide) due to an analogy he made of his team with such a devastating natural phenomena: “We aim to build a fast team, aiming to be unpredictable for the others while using our regional paradigms in our favor. The less known we are, the more lethal we could be and that’s why I love not having a specific plan.” That’s what Caicedo wants to use, but in reality, there are some hints to analyze what he loves to do with his teams, especially on Beyreuth University of Québec.

El Huayco is a style of play in which you look to win back the ball as soon as you lose it, and you try to win it back as high up the pitch as possible; that means you’re closing down a lot to put pressure on the player that's just won the ball back.

The idea is that the player who just won the ball will be vulnerable and won't have time to think about his first pass. You just close him down to win the ball back quickly as high up the pitch as possible, and then you initiate a counter attack. You're likely already half way there and ready to go past into space and score a goal.

You can also use this tactic to target specific weak players, if you have noticed a weakness in a certain team. Maybe central defenders or full backs aren't comfortable on the ball, and you can look to press and close down certain individuals to try and make the most out of this game pressing style.

For the last purpose mentioned, Serranos are heavily important, they might be the analogue of a dog felling your fear and then attacking, they as collective love to use their different point of views and implement them as one while attacking, then fast passes and maybe a long range shot may happen, especially if the team is playing on the highlands. If the team is playing on the coast or jungle, they might seek to control the ball and make the rival team run behind the ball for some time, in order to cause climatic exhaust on them, since coast and jungle are hot and terribly humid in this part of Anaia, so it may pose a real challenge for teams not used to play in such conditions.

To achieve Caicedo’s main goal, there are several prerequisites for successful counterpressing. The decisive factor is the overall positioning of the team and their playing style right before attempting to counterpress. The players must play as close to one another as possible so that they can press together as a unit right after the ball is lost – which is a given in short passing football. At the same time, they should not stick so close to one another that they neglect to cover enough space. Usually, a good layout in possession and a good shape behind the lost ball go hand in hand.

Some trainers use the basic rule of thumb to “occupy the fewest possible zones with individual players, but the greatest possible distance between the players within those zones so that they don’t occupy the same space” to make the positioning simple to understand; although, with a rule of thumb like this, some aspects are lost in terms of complexity.

Many teams also have problems deciding when to stop pressing, for example, when we stop pressing if we can’t win the ball back? When should we retreat? How long should you press and with how many players? This is particularly problematic because the position of the ball is always changing. Therefore, there is a theory created by Caicedo – the five second rule. Immediately after losing the ball the team should press at top speed and with maximum intensity for five seconds.

If the team hasn’t recovered the ball within five seconds and there is no chance of immediately winning it, they should fall back into their defensive formation. Depending on the team, the number of seconds may vary. It is recommended that the strategic basics of “El Huayco” be coached in order to develop a flexible, situation-specific length of time for counterpressing.

For scorination purposes, set the style modifer of Huayramarca at +1.

The Kits: Huayramarca’s social mindset is to aim for local consumption in the long term, hence the H-FdF decided to hire “eva Sportswear” to manufacture the kits for the national team. “eva” decided to take the ball out of the park with some unique designs for Huayramarca, reflecting the national identity and adding up some motivational phrases on them for mere sake of marketing. Those kits are based on the geography of this nation, from the coast, to the highlands and jungle in order to promote a sense of national unity, especially on a stage that the national team might try to do something decent in their first World Cup Qualifiers venture.

As backgrounds, you might notice some decent spots that Huayramarca has to offer, such as Uyuni's salt lake with some astrophotography in it, Huayna Picchu's monument to Inti (Sun), Lake Quilotoa (an old volcano near the city of Tulcán), Puerto Odriozola at the San Carlos Islands, the Ojos del Salado Volcano with a lavender field and then, the second flag of the Plurinational Republic, the Wiphala, a representation of the old Incaic glory of Huayramarca and banner of the Aymara and Quechua nationalities.

“eva” decided to depict elements that provide some sense of pride and national identification for Huayramarcans, no matter where are they from, those are universal icons of what Huayramarca is and its roots. Strong roots, strong legacy, and strong people forging their future with pride and hope.

Players description - Starting XI.

Nota bene: Caps considered before World Cup 89 Qualifiers - For national purposes, friendlies are never taken into consideration for official registries.

N°1 - Juan Mamani - GK - 26 yrs - Team: Ate FC - Height: 1.88 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 1

Mamani is an individual that believes he always is right, he tends to be creative when saving balls of creating some innovative ideas to take the ball forward, based so much in the fact that he is protective, spontaneous and loves to be independent in his actions. Currently, he is sad because he broke up with his girlfriend. Despite his relationship failure, he might seek some attention as the goalkeeper of the national team, forming decent bonds with his teammates in order to leave the baby steps soon in terms of footballing level. Also, he's brother with the creative mid of this team, Ian Mamani. He also has the curious record of scoring a free kick goal against Greater Lausitz, that goal helped Huayramarca to get their first ever victory at home soil on World Cup 85th, matchday 18th.

N°2 - Kevin Quispe - RCB - 23 yrs - Team: Fadrön Flight (Taeshan) - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 124 - Goals: 4

A pretty average guy in terms of intelligence that has no life plan, hence he left studies in order to make a living with football. He is very secretive, doesn't likes even to tell his teammates what will be his next movement because he knows we will be wrong, Quispe has serious issues with anger management and may be rebellious, he is cold and ignores what the others might feel or think about him, he doesn't gives a fu*k of anything. Anyways, he's flabbergasted by the fact of being called to the national team, even more by the fact of being part of the starting XI. Quispe is now an historical player by the fact of being the first Huayramarcan player to move to another country to play football, being at Taeshan will help this useful defender to innovate his tactics and improving the odds for the Huayramarcan National Team to get better at defense.

N°4 - Carlos Vilca - LFB - 27 yrs - Team: Valnohar Rovers FC (Tikariot) - Height: 1.78 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 8

Vilca exemplifies the stereotype of a Serrano, he is overly analytical and optimistic, with some patience when a player might approach to him, he might take some minutes to make a mental profile of who he will face and how to block him in its right side. Despite being coordinated and loving to be the center of attention, he loves to be quiet and solitary with his own personal code of conduct, he might be extremely fair while robbing balls and could try to be the surprise factor, since he tends to be a box-to-box player that loves to defend and also create offensive plays when possible. Right now, he's is hyped by the fact of being called, with Gabriel Sayritupac, to Valnohar Rovers FC of Tikariot, in what it seems to be an incredible experience for both players, who might support themselves during their adaptation time on said club.

N°6 - Felipe Fernández - RFB - 22 yrs - Team: Club Atlético Lima - Height: 1.85 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 6

Pipe, as known by his teammates is an extremely intelligent right fool back that adapts quite quickly to any situation he might face, he loves being orderly and hates mess. When playing, he is straight-forward and might argument with rivals, referee and even his teammates, he rarely praises others and values learning from experience. Said experiences have helped him to evolve into a solid stalwart for Omar Caicedo in the Huayramarcan defense.

N°14 - Santiago Chumacero - LCB - 26 yrs - Team: FC Atahualpa - Height: 1.81 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 8

Chumacero's perception of things might be out of this world, his mind might be some steps forward the others and might help to anticipate to some movements that may be done by the rival. For that purpose, he's always flexible, active and plays like he would be killed if he does a mistake, he's loyal with his team, faithful and gentle, hence he might be the motivator of the squad. Also, he feels inspired by the fact of being a decisive player in the historic run of Huayramarca to the 4th place in the last Cup of Harmony, his timing, blocks and ball recoverings were important for the team in the late stages.

N°17 - Orlando Mina - CM - 23 yrs - Team: Sporting Club El Alto - Height: 1.95 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 6

One of the two defensive mid of the team, being the classical Costeño out there, Mina is the tallest and strongest player of the squad. Mina's attitude is being original and stubborn, giving you some classical Costeño vibes, consistent in his performance and devoted to God, he cares a lot about what he does, since he tries always to correct his mistakes and not suffering on them, instead, he uses them as feedback to improve his game and abilities. Mina's sad right now because his mother was fired from the job, although, he might provide some food for his family while playing with The Condors.

N°11 - Ian Mamani - CF - 23 yrs - Team: Illimani FC - Height: 1.65 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 20

The second of the Mamani brothers in this team, along with Juan, Ian has what Juan might lack sometimes, creativity and brightness, although they play in totally different positions and roles in the team. This creative mid and captain of the team is one of the big things among this team, a fast-paced and fussy person with lots of potential, euphoria that drives him to perform as what he can do, being the best of the entire nation in his role. Large crosses are his specialty, including long-range shots when playing on the highlands. Right now, his euphoria level has increased a lot, considering he got called to the national team, the fact of being called captain and being on the international TV screen for WCQ, considering also how he lead the team to that incredible Cup of Harmony run.

N°8 - Nicolás Allauca - CF - 28 yrs - Team: Anomalies (CMT) - Height: 1.80 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 15

Nico was a bus driver until the last three weeks prior to WC 85 Qualifiers, when he decided to enter to the amateur football world of Huayramarca, he was in luck that Caicedo watched him plat and fell in love on how he performed. Allauca is spontaneous and may not like to do training, he is a fast-moving and extremely practical (hates theories) defensive mid, that may mutate to a second creative mid with Ian Mamani and has also a decent capability to score goals while going to attack. Allauca is blunt, might hurt you with his eyes and ignores rules, he might be dramatical when somebody tackles or fouls him, in order to make that player get sent off of at least yellow carded. Nico is pleased with Caicedo for being called up to the team once again.

During the last cycles, Allauca has demonstrated why Omar Caicedo trusts a lot on him, due to his capacity to be reliable and adaptive to any circumstance of the match, that's why he was recently purchased by Anomalies, a Chromatik team that decided that a player as fast and creative as he would be helpful for them. Currently, Allauca is out of this world in terms of happiness and confidence, he hopes that success might come sooner than later for everybody in the team.

N°7 - Abraham Mendoza - LF - 24 yrs - Team: Huayramarca FC - Height: 1.63 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 10

The smallest of the entire team, Mendoza is a mentally strong individual who loves to work hard, play hard and also be a strong leader inside the team in terms of order. A competent but realistic player who may not be spectacular while playing on the wings, but pragmatical and effective when achieving his purposes. Perhaps, on his personal life he is the best positioned of all the group, since he's currently studying Industrial Engineering at the Huayramarcan Technical University and he's scoring some of the best grades ever in that institution; right now, he's on the verge of graduating with "summa cum laude". You might notice how Abraham's personal discipline is, and this is translated even to football, where he tries to compliment some weaknesses that he may have as his height, but he tries to compensate with some decent body-building routines. He might not be a prolific scorer for the standards of a winger, but he has at least a 35% of assists for the total of Huayramarcan goals scored during the Qualifiers, hence, somebody to take care of.

N°21 - Gabriel Sayritupac - RF - 24 yrs - Team: Valnohar Rovers FC (Tikariot) - Height: 1.75 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 39

Sayri as he's known by many people in his native Tulcán (near the Québécois-Huayramarcan border) is an artistic person in all senses of his life. Usually he makes a living by painting portraits of people visiting the Chimborazo National Forest Reserve, sometimes working on a local brewery or doing some football for fun. He doesn't stands being alone and might be that easy-going Serrano (which is weird, if we come to think it). He has some genetic problems that makes him quite prone to injuries, and when those occur, Sayri decides to get inebriated to let frustration go away. A dirty antic he has is that he's well known for giving alcoholic beverages to the rivals instead of water, he has developed modified ayahuasca in order to make it feel and look like water, which has fooled some teams. Keep an eye on him!

Despite that, Sayritupac is a well skilled winger, an antithesis of Mendoza, since he loves to be artistical while dribbling and doing a cross, he might try to do rabonas while shooting or passing and will keep attacking, even more than the usual for a winger like him, he always loves to risk it all. Right now, his mood is high and confident, his departure to the Tikariot Premier League has made him achieve his dream to play abroad and help his family.

N°21 - Bryan Tello - ST - 29 yrs - Team: Club Sport Cumbayá - Height: 1.86 mts - Caps: 125 - Goals: 68

A decently heighted Costeño as forward is always a neat solution for your goal needs, with good pace, stride and also physic abilities Tello is what every team may need for up front. He's factual since he studied Philosophy at the University of Cumbayá, a committed and self-confident man who might be extremely traditional to his striker role, he might seek for some space in order to go front, use his strength and move towards the goal. Tello is a somewhat strong leader among the shadows of the Huayramarcan national team, an outgoing and straight-forward person that could sometimes aggressive since he's prone to be insensitive. He's right now interested in evolving as a legend for Huayramarcan football, something that he is slowly building up with the strength of goals and assists to his teammates.

Substitutes:

Nota bene: In order to have a deeper understanding of Huayramarcan players, take in consideration the following list of personalities for the substitutes. For a better understanding of said list, take time to watch the substitute players list posted again down here and follow the order of said list. The first player on this list, has his mindset reflected in the left of the first row, the second in the right of the first row and then, so on until the last one:

Useful Information and Stadia: Before introducing the stadia, there’s some handy information for away fans who might visit Huayramarca. As said before, this nation has a quite complex geography and some long distances to travel for away fans, since there are only two airports: Huayramarca International Airport, located near Huayramarca Metropolitan District at the highlands, and the Jorge Guerra International Airport in Lima, on the coast. You might need to go up mountains or driving through them which is a complete odyssey due to the risks caused by the Andean geography itself.

People in Huayramarca might be passional about football pretty much everywhere, but more hostile when you go down the mountains, driving to the coast. Down there, if people don’t attack you, weather might do due to the offensive humidity, mosquitoes and heat that may occur there. In Lima, despite being in the coast, the weather is mild and great to play football, but there might be some sandstorms due to the deserts located south of said city. Coastal teams usually play at afternoon, when humidity may suffocate those not used to deal with it.

Same happens at the jungle, but the mosquito issue multiplies thousand-fold, also as humidity caused by constant rains that pass there in their transit to the highlands. Water absorption made by trees cause severe issues with an extremely humid weather, hence jungle teams decide to play often at noon, in order to torture rival teams.

On the Sierra things get worse, since the main problem up there is respiration. For a physical activity like football, people might need some weeks to acclimatize altitude and get an efficient breathing pattern that might supply their physical effort needs. Several cities are above the 2500 masl, even the capital city, which is located at 4000 masl, it doesn’t matters at which time they decide to play, if a team isn’t acclimatized, they will even faint during the game if they don’t have with them oxygen tanks to breathe before the game or if they don’t get some treatment into an hyperbaric chamber.

Stadia are distributed in order to have an equal distribution for regions, considering that there will be twelve local games at Huayramarca, Sierra, Costa and Jungla will receive three matches each one. Each region will receive a high tier rival and then a randomized sort of two other teams in other matchdays. You might contact the Huayramarcan Football Federation (OOC: TG me or shout me at Discord!) in case of more information or solving some needs for your team and fans.

Estadio Nacional de Huayramarca - Capacity: 45,500 - Huayramarca Metropolitan District.

Image

Tenants: Ministry of Culture and Sports of Huayramarca.
Built in: 1968.
Altitude: 4012 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Illimani FC, Real Ebriedad, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: Built in 1968, the Estadio Nacional is the jewel in the not so well-shaped crown of the Huayramarcan sport venues, an olympic stadium that might be a nightmare for visiting teams due to the altitude and weather of the city, which tends to be somewhat hostile everyday, even more if it's played at noon due to the sun's radiation at that altitude. Despite being an olympic stadium, people tends to set a lot of pressure in it, especially from the neighboring appartment blocks which tends to be crowded for the matches being held there (they might aim lasers from there, take care!).

Also, the walls near the dressing room have some curious messages as such: "Welcome to Huayramarca D.M. At 4,000 meters above sea level "is one of the first things the visiting teams will read upon entering the dressing room, perhaps to make clear the conditions to which they will be subjected throughout the game. It is still somewhat intimidating the following warning that is issued when they leave the visiting dressing room "Caution, if you have the following symptoms: Headache, vertigo, fatigue, tachycardia, nausea or vomiting, wheezing, dyspnoea or inappetence, go to the medical staff, we are at your disposal."

Will host:
  • MD 1: vs Ochre Islands - 16:00 - Sunny, 17°C.
  • MD 8: vs Tumbra - 20:00 - Rainy, 6°C.
  • MD 11: vs Eraman - 20:00 - Windy, possible snow storm, -4°C

Jungla:

Estadio Olímpico del Oriente - Capacity: 26,000 - Sechura.

Image

Tenants: MuniSechura - Municipality of Sechura.
Built in: 1945.
Altitude: 560 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Sociedad Petrolera, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: One of the biggest stadia in Huayramarca, the main hub of sports in the Jungle region is located at Sechura, a city of about 300,000 inhabitants which serves as logistical hub for operations of rubber production and for explorations into the dense jungle nearby. Sociedad Petrolera is a modest Liga 1 side, but one that tends to attract almost ticket sell outs every game, since people in that region tends to be quite passionated of football in order to forget their not so good daily life. At that city, one should take care of humidity, which tends to be quite strong at times, hence teams usually play there on afternoon or night, since heat might be something difficult to stand even for locals.

Will host:
  • MD 6: vs Nephara - 20:00 - Rainy, 26°C.
  • MD 16: vs Martune- 18:00 - Sunny, 29°C.
  • MD 18: vs Northwestern Kalactin - 15:00 - Sunny, 32°C

Costa:

Estadio Metropolitano del Guayas - Capacity: 62,000 - Guayaquil.

Image

Tenants: Autoridad Guayaquileña de Deportes - Guayaquilean Sports Authority.
Built in: 1980.
Altitude: 15 meters above sea level.
Local teams: Guayaquil Wanderers, Barcelona Sporting Club, Huayramarcan National Team.
Data: A kettle pot, that's the definition for the biggest stadium in all of Huayramarca. "El Metropolitano" is the most recently built stadium in the nation and will make the debut for international football in Huayramarca. Hosts two teams and the fan athmosphere in Guayaquil is perhaps one of the most intimidatory ones in the multiverse, fans throwing you stones while receiving, throwing flares, extremely noisy people all around and the incredibly hot and humid weather that dominates the city may be lethal for some teams when trying to visit. Rescuing a tie from here may be considered something great, since you survived the "Guayaco" hell. Hence that, teams often love to play at the afternoon, specially at 3:00 P.M. in order to squeeze out the rivals in exhaust.

Will host:
  • MD 3: vs Squornshelan Remnant States - 15:00 - Sunny, 33°C.
  • MD 4: vs Ottoman Syldavia - 20:00 - Clear skies, 27°C.
  • MD 14: vs Delaclava - 15:00 - Sunny, 35°C

Summary
Kelssek's tactical culture is fluid and direct, generally favouring technical and versatile players. Star players are Colm Ó Tuathail, Gabriel Lapierre, and Loïc Maçon-Petrault. While not weaknesses per se goalkeeping and central defence are areas where the team is pretty average.

Cathal Gallagher GK, FC Rotmunde 1932 [STL], b. Tête-Jaune, Konoha (age 29) - 56 caps | An agile, technically sound shot-stopper. Could do better in commanding his area and susceptible to getting bullied at corners.

Sébastian St-Gerlais GK, Eterna Stars [VLD], b. Beaujoire, BL (age 31) - 4 caps | Title-winning keeper for CF Outineau now exploring the wide world. Aggressively claims balls with total disregard for anyone, teammate or opponent, in his way.

Bernard Despatie GK, Burnaby SC, b. Mirabelle, BL (age 36) - 10 caps | Backstopped Burnaby SC to back-to-back titles and a historic Double, leading coaches to conclude he must be ok at this goalkeeping thing.

Thamior Liadon D RL, Myana [CMT], b. Firith Forest Elven Territory (age 125) - 118 caps, 16 goals | Marauding full-back who likes to get forward and play the overlap.

Ashley Douglass D/M R, CF Outineau, b. Saint-Rémy, BL (age 30) - 74 caps, 8 goals | An attack-minded full back. Uses her dribbling ability to get forward and make runs into channels.

Tim Bowler D L, Gladerial United [VAL], b. Newmarket, NC (age 29) - 102 caps, 5 goals | Galacticos longlisted solid defensive full-back who can hold up the ball and overlap well.

Damien Halliger D C, Holdenburg City [EUR], b. Old Taunton, Noua Cymru (age 27) - 108 caps, 4 goals | Traditional stay-at-home hard-man central defender. Looks to establish dominance in the air.

Phillip Lozic D C, Jinlal Cove [VIL], b. Stawamus, Konoha (age 23) - 36 caps | Mobile, athletic central defender with a strong aerial presence.

Joseline Fourtin D C, Felswyr [CMT], b. Neorvins (age 29) - 45 caps | Technically sound in the tackle, good positioning, average in the air.

Jean-Phillippe Auiloquet D C, CF Outineau, b. Outineau (age 28) - 0 caps | Hard to beat him in the air. Has nerves of titanium when it comes to playing the ball in his own penalty area.

Nacuémiró Buené D/M L, Burnaby SC, b. records sketchy, Farfadillis (age 22) - 6 caps | A skill player with a great cross, defensively sound but prone to get bullied by bigger attackers.

Lily Marshall D C, Ulsa Rovers [EUR], b. Kirkenes, Noua Cymru (age 25) - 7 caps | Makes smart interceptions, and is better at playing the ball than tackling it, truth be told.

Gabriel Farahani D R, Rockridge Phoenix [BRE], b. Novonaya, Lupinissa (age 32) - 47 caps, 2 goals | Athletic and determined defensive full-back, but doesn't offer much going forward.

Émile Robin DM, Chalesm [SRS], b. Langlois, Beaulac (age 24) - 0 caps | Adept at stealing the ball off the toes of opponents, she reads the game well but her passing ability sometimes doesn't match her vision. "You can see what she was going for there" is often heard in this context.

Issac Lafrenière M LC, Kionao Locals [TUR], b. Outineau, Beaulac (age 24) - 18 caps, 1 goal | Creative, flashy, can unlock the defence with incisive passing from deep, and drops like a rag doll if he thinks he can get a free kick.

Êsêkïl dí Völará M C, Crossroads [CMT], b. Farfadillis (age 22) - 5 caps | A deep-lying playmaker who relentlessly recycles possession and is hard to get around with the ball on the ground.

Colm Ó Tuathail [captain] M L, Shamrock Cathair [AUD], b. Colwyn, Noua Cymru (age 29) - 97 caps, 20 goals | Made history as Kelssek's first-ever "Galactico", was allegedly the second-best left winger in the world in a season that saw him become a regular feature of the first 11 on one of Audioslavia's top clubs. A goalscoring threat who also has the acceleration and dribbling skill to give defences the literal run-around. Has won one Audioslavian title and a couple of silver IFCF medals.

Rémy Dionne M LC, Strathcona Internationals, b. Sainte-Anne-sur-Lichy, Roites (age 32) - 89 caps, 10 goals | A box-to-box dynamo who can nip the ball away from behind a player and launch the counterattack in an instant.

Gabriel Lapierre M C, 1093 Club de Atlantea [TAE], b. Laval, BL (age 29) - 127 caps, 30 goals | Exciting, creative midfielder and a potent attacking threat thanks to his ability to find passing lanes others don't. Former Taeshan Foreign Player of the Year and was named to the "Galacticos" shortlist as one of the world's 50-ish best players.

Bryan Hartpoach AM LC, Strathcona Internationals, b. Vickery, Conryia (age 23) - 0 caps | Quick, elusive, and technically adept. May wander into the middle sometimes.

James McDonald M LR, Rolalas FC [VAL], b. Dartmoor, Haligonia (age 31) - 30 caps | A two-footed, versatile winger. Level-headed and unspectacular, likes to cut inside on the byline.

Mason Blueman AM C, Soldarian FC [VAL], b. Colwyn, NC (age 32) - 50 caps, 11 goals | Former Galacticos nominee who's been on the losing side in a Champions League final. Does all the basic things well and is a solid all-rounder. A bit of a late bloomer who worked his way into the starting eleven at Soldarian after ditching his sinking hometown club.

Jourdain Blanchette M LC, SW Stahlberg [STL], b. St-Richard, Beaulac (age 29) - 0 caps | A more defensive-minded option on the wing.

Adrian Tremblay-Fillon M C, 1912 Stellburg [STL], b. Saint-Richard, BL (age 31) - 79 caps, 6 goals | A gangly player with high work-rate, passing and technical skills, who loves to play the killer pass.

Matts Bogdanor M C, Carsby [EUR], b. East Fallowfield, Etnier (age 28) - 54 caps, 2 goals | No-nonsense holding midfielder who can surprise with a 30-yard banger every once in a while.

Loïc Maçon-Petrault ST, Directus [EUR], b. Saint-Rémy, BL (age 27) - 41 caps, 18 goals | An elusive and quick striker and noted jazz fan. A skilled forward who is able to dribble past his marker and paint the corners of the goal with the ball.

Seamus Wylten ST, Hondo FC [VAL], b. Brandon, Etnier (age 27) - 45 caps, 28 goals | An instinctive finisher and has a great sense of where to position himself to get chances.

Shaheen Taleb AM C/ST, Aries Chariots [NPH], b. Mineru, Konoha (age 28) - 105 caps, 43 goals | Can freeze the defence with his excellent close control and is a highly composed finisher. Plays best as a deep-lying forward.

Thor Ibrahim Ahmad AM/F RC, Hornchurch [EUR], b. Outineau, Beaulac (age 23) - 4 caps, 1 goal | Once scored half the goals for CF Les Castors as they finished last in the Kelssek league, he's been making steady progress in Eura and could break through this year.

Danielle Maradrogba ST, Newrook City [NPH], b. Outineau, BL (age 22) - 6 caps, 1 goal | An exciting, highly touted talent who has already led the line albeit for one of the KFL's basement dwellers.

Brayden Custworth ST, Chenoworth Rovers [NPH], b. Clayquot, Etnier (age 33) - 121 caps, 57 goals | Deep-lying striker who is as adept in playing in his teammates as shooting the ball. Good vision and awareness and strong technique.

Eva Karven ST, Hornchurch [EUR], b. (age 25) - 14 caps, 1 goal | Stormed onto the scene in the KFL Championship as the leading scorer for Kirkenes in her rookie season.

Roman Torshen ST, Norrion Rovers [EFL], b. Mistigwyn, NC (age 25) - 23 caps, 4 goals | Has a poacher's instinct for where the ball's going to be, but he's also got a wicked shot from his right foot and likes to power them in. Middling movement and pace (which suits his 'second wave' SOP anyway), relies on his bag of tricks to get past defenders.

Ryan Dumont D L, Strathcona Internationals, b. Kirkenes, Noua Cymru (age 31) - 19 caps | Positionally sound, technically average, likes to take on his opponent. This occasionally has disastrous results.

Caelin Vinter D R, Valohar Rovers [TKT], b. Mazinaw, Conryia (age 33) - 25 caps, 2 goals | A workhorse down the right side with high stamina and decent ball-winning ability, but he can be temperamental and his elbows hit opponents in the face a bit too often to be just coincidence.

Amber Docherty M R, AC Olarria [ASG], b. Willsden Harbour, Haligonia (age 26) - 1 cap

Pierre-Louis Laishram AM/F C, Clyde Park [TMB], b. Pont d'Or, Beaulac (age 26) - 2 caps | Determined, volatile, and ambitious, he moved abroad after burning some bridges at Océanic, the club he'd come up through the youth ranks with, after publically slamming the club for underperforming. A creative passer with excellent touch.

Manager: Andrea Crowe | Crowe has taken Kelssek as far as the World Cup quarterfinals, and is the former manager of Ritter Town in Nephara. Preferred formation: 4-4-2
Honours: Cup of Harmony 43 champions, 2-time Ad'ihan Challenge Trophy winners
Direct free-kicks: Gabriel Lapierre
Corners: Colm Ó Tuathail (L), Ashley Douglass (R)
Penalties: Shaheen Taleb

Fan culture
Kelssek's national teams are nicknamed the Voyagers in reference to the fact that major international tournaments are practically always in a different region and many time zones away (unless Kelssek is hosting it, of course).
Maybe Tomorrow is common to all national teams:
Voyagers, they keep on calling me
Down the road, that's where I'll always be
Onward Kelssek, the shout from everyone
Step by step, fighting on, till glory's won
Maybe tomorrow, our journey will be done
Until tomorrow, we'll just keep movin' on

Tune: "Maybe Tomorrow" (Littlest Hobo theme song)

Summer of 46 is sport-specific, and references the hosting of World Cup 46, the watershed in soccer actually becoming popular in Kelssek.
Got my first real football
Played it on a plastic pitch
Rubber pellets went everywhere
It was the cycle of forty-six
Oh when I look back now
Thought that it would last forever
Those were the football glory days

Tune: Summer of '69

Stadiums
Qualifying matches will rotate between three stadiums. You may choose which one if you are the first to RP the match. If you're not bothered to pick, go with Kirkenes as a default.

Exhibition Place, Kirkenes (cap. 38,600)
Kirkenes is the biggest city in Kelssek, a huge and bustling multicultural metropolis. The city's character comes through in neighbourhoods like Little Ariddia, Bathurst Gardens, and Lancaster Hill. Fashionable boutiques and other opportunities for bourgeois consumerism are located in the Rosewood area. The 540-metre Panopti Tower is an iconic landmark, the St. Jude Market is a good stop for fine foods or a quick meal, Melbourne Square and Caron Street are where to go out, and the Museum of Global Civilization is pretty cool to learn about history and cultures and stuff. The Loyalist Fort National Historic Site is where the enemies of the revolution holed themselves up. The city also has a lively microbrewery scene. See also the street map, and the TComm Subway.

Commonwealth Place, Vickery (cap. 41,600) - As the city is at high altitude and often snowy and frigid in winter, FK sometimes takes a malicious glee in scheduling matches against tropical countries here.
Stade Intersat, St-Rémy (cap. 36,900)

Hebitaka for the World Cup 89

Image

Hebitaka has decided to send 18 players for the 89th Soccer World Cup held this time in Tikariot and South Newlandia.

Football(Soccer) in Hebitaka
Football or Soccer is the Oldest sport played in this nation. It has been in this country even before the Great Commoner Uprising, as early as 18th Century. The first of Clubs, the Bramhagiri Club(now called Blasters) was established in the year 1918. Many clubs started forming since. Though the sport is really popular, Hebitaka couldn't be much successful internationally. Only winning a handful of games in both the qualification rounds, Hebitaka never managed to qualify for the final 32. The only success the national team had was in regional football tournament where Hebitaka managed to go for the semi finals in the AIFC III.

Pascafian Roster for the 89th World Cup

Type: Roster
Time: -

OOC Note:
1. Pascafia has no manager or staff for the National team. Pascafia is a community based society, and for the mens team, this will be fulfilled. Everything in terms of "off the pitch" will be handled by the government.

2. I had recebtly moved to Anaia, and also, my lore will be different as my factbook is outdated. I am bulding a new factbook for the Pascafia of Anaia. All records from pre-Anaia move are claimed and kept.

Pascafia (or officially known as the Federal Social Islands of Pascafia) is a socialist democratic one party state located on a small archipelago located in the middle of the ocean that is west from Hodeikoleku, south from Nova Calania, and east of Lurhautsia. Pascafia consists of twelve main islands, with the largest island which is named Katanegi, holding the capital, known as Medunia. The other major and well known cities are Arwadia, Hanasia, and Ferogati.

Country: Pascafia (Federal Social Islands of Pascafia)
Trigramme: PSF (Official) / PSC (Sports-wise)

Formation: 4 - 2 - 3 - 1

No. Name Position Age

99 Kevin Hedaro Isima CMF/DMF 25
3 Damien Jukosa Lamo LB/RB 22
11 Amaro Ketanga Ise CB 24
2 Jonase Hamane Kato GK 23

Tactics:
The main formation that Pascafia uses is a 4 - 2 - 3 - 1, that mainly focuses on the defense staying solid, and that the offense can roam freely. In a match where the opponent is playing very defensively, Pascafia can opt to send one or both DMFs forward to join the assault with the forward and the wingers. The CMF tends to send in long, through balls for the wingers and striker to pick up. Typically, when the DMFs go forward, they tend to stay in the "in between" area between the center and the wings, as a back up winger for the forward running wingers.

The forward is usually a finisher who can finish and convert chances from left or right side crosses. In more crucial moments, the CMF can go forward as a long range striker. Taking chances outside the box when no one can cut in deep to finish these chances and convert them properly. In other scenarios, the wingers can cut into the box with the ball, and make far post shots or have three major options. To pass to the other winger and fall back to their wing (or stay in the box and attempt to finish chances himself), pass the ball back to the forward who is also in the box for him to finish the ball, or (when the CMF goes forward) pass the ball to the CMF that is outside the box to let him take a long distance kick. (This is what Pascafia always does).

Now with a quite thorough tactical explanation, here is the list of player roles on the pitch.
Player Role
Matenas Hosokagiri Penalty Taker
Erik Lase Batanias Freekick Taker
Welkas Marate Nenid Right Corner Taker
Andre Katani Henggo Left Corner Taker
Davide Pertonalas Captain

Milchama Line Up for First Baptism of Fire

Wait, isn't this the BoF roster post?

Yes except we changed one starter.

Oh interesting

Definitely.

After countless years, somewhere between 6 and 400, Milchama has finally returned to international sports. After a disappointing AOCAF that despite a close loss to Sarzonia ended in Milchama taking 0 points from three games the real stuff can begin, the World Cup! Milchama comes back as by far the most decorated nation in this BoF and possibly the most decorated nation ever to participate in a BoF during the competition. Since the majority of nations are in the BoF as first time nations and not nations that participated in 50 World Cup qualifying cycles this is unsurprising. Anyway, despite some calls to change the roster we did not and it's the exact same one as the AOCAF roster with the same coach.

Coach: Darryl Lamarein - Lamarein was pro in something other than sports, namely an accountant, when he was asked to take over the finances of Mongol FC, then a third division side. After getting the finances in order he also noticed they tended to make more money and play better if they used different tactics with different players. He eventually convinced the GM to let him try that for one game. They won 6-0. They did it the next game, they won 6-2. Lamarein was then made coach of the Mongols where he led them to straight promotions. Then people got angry at him and had him manage the national team assuming that he would get paid for a do nothing job. Then the Isolation ended and now he's doing things. Who knows what's up?

Starting 11:
GK: Miles Inthracam - Surprisingly the only Alexandrian in the squad. Helped Great Alexandria to the most recent title.
D: Dollard Foster - Big man who is known for vicious tackling. Also a decent header of the ball.
D: Ittai Witson - Captain. While only 23 has clear leadership abilities and the ability to love which is more important than any singular footballing skill. Also, incredible defensive instincts which is why he's on the team.
D: George Trois - The third George. Better than the first two Georges
M: Leetal Fenet - CM - Really good at picking out a pass to the right player at the right time. Engine of the offensive midfield.
M: Gal Waver - Box to box central midfielder who is known for winning the ball back and recycling it very efficiently.
M: Eloise Johnson - Defensive midfielder. Has played defense for her club team but is moved up because it made sense for this squad.
F: Mattityahu - Mononymed man. Very weird. Great free kick taker.
F: Marc K. Floren - Not related to Marc J. Floren despite the name. Greatest finisher in the modern Milchamian league.
F: Holden Flomes - Prototypical back to goal center forward.
F: Itamar ben Johansson - Very confusingly named forward. Was not expected until the team was named to be a started. Played as a midfielder for his club.

Subs:
GK: Ishtvan Martin - Second string
GK: LaDonte Crenter - Third string. He also occasionally plays left back.
D: Dallas Hunter - LB - Shoots to kill. Very aggressive outside back.
D: Kent Kells - CB - Back up centerback sometimes gets a lot of playing time and is often the first name off the bench if there are any defensive frailties.
D: Jay Flimt - RB - Also aggressive but usually in tackles. Led the MFL in cards last year.
M: Morris Maris - Fast tricky winger. Plays a touch too far forward for the system but is always the first sub off the bench in the midfield.
M: Amy Cekarn - CM - Defensive mid. Comes in for defensive solidity.
M: Kelly Filimitov - LM - Lefty dead ball specialist. Also very good at crosses.
M: Colm Interlasskoti - RM - Young kid who is here for the experience.
F: Dee Schneider - RF - Fast, tricky, good handles, scores a lot for his club. People really think Schneider should start.
F: Marvin Gorek - LF - Defensive forward. Does score some goals but known for his work rate and creating transition through good pressing.
F: Elliot Flok - CF/RF - Pure scorer. Comes on for the "need a goal with 15 minutes left" situations.
F: Burt Burner - All forward positions. - Very fast. Poor control skills.

The Emirate of Shima Bas’ National Football Team - The Golden Crescent

Overview
The Emirate of Shima Bas is a nation returning from the destruction of civil war, with a deeply divided populace that yearns to see the nation succeed on the world’s stage. The history of past domestic leagues and international honors has been swept away in recent traumas of war, with players now residing in a country that doesn’t even share the same name as the nation that preceded it. Sharp divides between rich and poor - an omnipresent fact in the motherland, follow the squad to Tikariot and South Newlandia. Will the squad devolve into infighting and media-fueled drama like England their home country just years prior? Or will they be able to unite a struggling nation behind the burning fire of their desire to win it all?

Manager

Eugènio Tio
Fifty-three year old Eugènio Tio is a bit of a mess when it comes to managing an already struggling squad. For instance, the team was supposed to play in the 76th Baptism of Fire, but due to Tio’s messy office space, the application papers got lodged between his desk and the wall. When the upstart Basian Football Association was preparing logistics for the team, they found out from the BOF that their papers had not, in fact, been approved. Angry phone calls from the FA, players, and many others hailed down on Tio’s office for weeks. If it weren’t for the lack of experienced coaches in Shima Bas, it’s likely that Tio would be on the streets right now.
Tio’s footballing background comes in the form of managing players at the Afil academy. Many in the media even doubt his experience in this, as the academy in recent years has been the site of nepotism hires. Supporters of Tio acknowledge his faults but point towards his apparent “engenius” tactical style, which utilizes high wing play, whipped crosses and offensive overloads. His touchline shouts are sometimes unintelligible to an outside eye, as the manager has a propensity to create his own words in lieu of a traditional football lexicon. To his credit, his time spent at Afil Academy was chock-full of double-digit victories, however allegations of corruption are never far from those institutions infected with the presence of Shima Bas’ wealthy. Whatever the case, if the Golden Crescent fail to reach a level that the team’s backers find sufficient, Tio may be grateful to only find himself out of a job, and not in substantially hotter waters.

Predicted Starting 11

4-3-3
GK: Cairo Hatem
D: Akmal Ahmad
D: Hud Baccus
D: Emir Jalali
D: Mudahir Avendano
M: Makin Moghaddam
M: Bisma Shehadeh
M: Mahdi Vaziri
F: Hideki Nazar
F: Casildo Hana
F: Akili Granada

Goalkeepers

GK: Cairo Hatem, 27
GK: Benincasa Akhtar, 19
GK: Marid Rayes, 31

The Emirate of Shima Bas has lost a lot of its footballing talent over the years. Now the country’s national team is left with a collection of rag-tag players that it must use to create a football squad. Some are here only to get out of the country’s vicious capitalist cycle of eternal labor, while others are only here because of it. Cairo Hatem is the epitome of the latter. The son of a wealthy Basian oil magnate, the newspapers not owned by the Hatem family often sneak in jabs at the young man’s propensity to vanish from training sessions and meetings. Still, he finds himself at the head of the lineup. Such is life in Shima Bas.
Backing Hatem up is Akhtar, who is little known by those in Shima Bas and even less by those outside of the country. Perhaps the youngster brings something to the table unknown to the world’s media, but it is unlikely he will see playing time unless Hatem falls to injury.
Marid Rayes was known to be a good player in his local southern league before the civil war, but his best days seem to be behind him. If Akhtar is unlikely to see the pitch, Rayes may as well remain in the locker-room, for his odds of donning the gloves are slim.

Defence

RB: Mudahir Avendano, 23
CB: Hud Baccus, 26
CB: Emir Jalali, 30
LB: Najya Qasim, 18
FB: Akmal Ahmad, 29
FB: Jawad Radwan, 26
CB: Rabi Bagheri, 23
CB: Shunnar Huq, 22

The defense has looked rather poor in training, and has struggled to function without a clear leader in the back line. The front-runner for that position would be Emir Jalali, who’s experience in the gunners has led him to be hard of hearing and perhaps still a little shaken. Despite this, the aging Jalali might be the best chance at shot blocking among the defensive squad.
The defense as a whole looks a tad undersized in comparison to the rest of the squad (and visibly more so in comparison to the other teams in the tournament), being composed of some of the poorest players on the team. The pay-to-play academies that were lucky enough to escape the worst of the past decade’s violence rarely produced defensive talent. Many Basian families wanted their children to feature at the top of their academy’s formation as a status symbol, with the defensive art being left for those with notably less money - or influence.
Like much of the Golden Crescent team, the defense is yet to be fully scouted by the international community, and the first few matches will go a long way in uncovering if the players have got what it takes to compete in the pinnacle of the football world.

Midfield

LM: Makin Moghaddam, 25
CM: Bisma Shehadeh, 28
RM: Mahdi Vaziri, 25
CM: Isam Ramada, 24
MF: Jericho Sultana, 33
MF: Araft Sergeant, 29

The midfield seems to be the Golden Crescent’s best fighting chance in delivering the motherland success in its inaugural tournament. Bisma Shehadeh is a relentless workhorse on the pitch, having apparent unending stores of energy, and reportedly had professional success abroad during the war years. This is yet to be confirmed, however, but many in Shima Bas have taken to claiming evidence of his success in a variety of increasingly implausible leagues around the world.
The rest of the midfield is made up of players that were more-or-less well known in domestic leagues before the war, making their foray back into football, some for the first time in years. Shehadeh is a unit of a man, popular among fans for his explosive social media presence where he spouts stream-of-consciousness political opinions from his luxurious personal workout facility. A very physical player, the Gold Crescent will need him to execute his playmaking potential to its limit if it hopes to progress past the early fixtures.

Attack

LW: Hideki Nazar, 25
CF: Casildo Hana, 19
RW: Akili Granada, 22
FW: Jan Moustafa, 23
FW: Antwaun Kamara, 19
FW: Ubayy Granada, 26

The Shima Bas attack features some of the most anticipated - but untested players in the squad. From Hideki Nazar, an overly trigger-happy, flashy attacker that made waves at the exorbitantly-priced Afil Academy for his ability to score from range, to Casildo Hana, a soft-spoken but calculating forward with a media-reinforced propensity to make defenders look silly, the youth of the offense might provide some of the best entertainment of the tournament. Most have non-so-subtly exchanged favors to get noticed by the selection committee, and many seem to have inflated egos due to their familial wealth and influence. All insist on playing time, and it will be a struggle for the manager to keep all of them satisfied.
The tabloids in the home country are often strictly partisan in their sports section for whom they believe is being snubbed - and one can only guess where such opinions are formed. Wholly organically, of course. The entertainment off the pitch may be the highlight of the tournament - at the expense of the team’s cohesion and the manager’s mental wellbeing.

GK Jure Iveša - 27 y - NK Čelik Raduč
Jure Iveša was born in the town of Raduč ( 195 cm, 89 kg). Raduč is a town known for its steel mine and steel production. But it is also known for the automotive industry, the production of railway compositions as well as aircraft parts. At the age of 6, Iveša joined the football club Automobili Raduč. At the age of 10 he switched to athletics, high jump, but at the age of 11 he returned to football but to another club. He enrolled in the football club Čelik Raduč, where he has remained until now. He was named the best goalkeeper in the league.
With national s election he have 72 appearance in line up.

LB Danijela Majić - 24 y - NK Bistua Nuova
Danijela Majić, 185 cm and 70 kg, was born in Bistua Nuova. She comes from a sports family. Hers mother was a handball player, today she is a coach and hers father was a football player and today he coaches a football club in which Danijela , NK Bistua Nuova, is also. Bistua Nuova won the DR Srednjaci championship in the women's competition and currently has no relevant opponent in the league. Danijela is adorned with great technique and speed, she often takes corners but also uses hers speed to penetrate to the attack.
She won bronze medal in World Women's Cup in Sarzonia.

CB Ivan Kušić - 27 y - NK Dinamo Katanija
Ivan Kušić ,186 cm and 75 kg, was born in the small town of Plava Laguna near Melarit. He made his first football steps in NK Plava Laguna. In high school he moved to Melarit to study. There he started playing for the home club, Mladost Melarit. With his games as an 18-year-old, she attracted the attention of major clubs and signed a contract with Dinamo Katanija. He won the championship and the cup with that club. Great pillar of the club's defense, with an overview of the game. He is strong in duels, fast, but his technique is also great.
He have 66 appearance in main line up.

CB Franko Rušković - 28 y - NK Mladost Melarit - Captain
Franko Rušković, 188 cm and 78 kg, an insurmountable pillar of defense. A very intelligent player with incredible agility and endurance. Strong and corpulent, they won duels in 92% of cases. He started playing football at the age of 10, before football he tried volleyball and tennis. He stayed in football and led his club NK Mladost Melarit to the second position in the league, but also to winning the cup. He was named the best football player in the league for last season, but also the best defensive player in the league. He have 67 appearance in main line up. As a captain he have 59 appearance .

RB Zoran Šutić - 26 y - NK Archer Kula
Zoran Šutić, 183 cm and 70 kg, he was born in the town of Kula. Despite his club fighting not to drop out of the league, Zoran is one of the bright spots of the drowning club. Zoran was brilliant in his position and Archery Kula will probably be left without its best player. There is talk of negotiations with Torpedo Melarit, a team that entered the first league from the second league.
Zoran improve his stamina and techniqe since last WC appearance. He have a 57 appearances for national team.

CDM Heong Min Ho - 26 y- NK Dinamo Katanija
An amazing player, fast and always in the right place. The accuracy in the passes is amazing and the technique is amazing. He was born in Katanija and started playing football at the age of six. From the beginning, he was Dinamo Katanija and with that club he is the champion of DR Srednjaci. He is 178 cm tall and weighs 68 kg.
Amazing player on this position. Min Ho have 63 appearances for national team.

LW Davida Zimmer - 25 y - NK Bistua Nuova
Davida Zimmer , 176 cm and 66 kg, a fast football player who creates problems on the left wing. A great football player who is an unsolvable enigma in the league. She was named the best football player in that position and she deserved an invitation to the national team with great statistics. 22 goals in the season, 18 assists and an accuracy of 87%. The speed in the sprint is amazing, 80 meters ran in 10.24 seconds. It has an excellent and precise shot from the edge of 16 meters and it is the most dangerous.
Davida won bronze medal with women’s national team on WC in Sarzonia.

RW Takanobu Tavano - 24 y- NK Dinamo Katanija
The best player in that position and probably the best player in the league ever. The ceiling is 177 cm high and weighs 67 kilograms. Probably a fast player on the right wing is simply unstoppable. Because of his speed and technique, two players run into him in defense and sometimes three. This creates a surplus on the field and is very dangerous there. With one jerk he is able to add the ball with incredible precision. Its market price is dizzying. In the cup against Lokomotiva Raduč, a club from the second league, Tavano scored an incredible 6 goals. With Dinamo Katanija he is the league champion and he scored 18 goals and gave 33 assists.
Tavano have 65 appearences for national team.

CF Ante Tomljanović - 26 y - NK Čelik Raduč
Tomljanović is a unique player. He plays as an offensive midfielder, central foreward but can also play as a striker. A player who has almost everything. He is 182 cm tall, which is quite high for his position. But he is very agile, strong and technically great. He scored the most goals with his head from the corner, he can jump high and the defenders who should guard him are usually lower than him.

ST Isidor Matković - 24 y - NK Torpedo Melarit
Isidor Matković, 183 cm and 79 kg , the absolute star of the league. Torpedo Melarit entered the first from the second league and Matković is their best player, the club's top scorer, the top scorer of the second league and a player who has incredible skills. His sense of goal is the most pronounced of all the players in DR Srednjaci. Incredible shot, strong and technically refined. His turn and sprint are famous. It is difficult to keep him because he is constantly on the move and in addition to goals, he is often an assistant. He is the most talented player in the league and he will surely lead the battle with Tavano to be the best player in the league. Top scorer of national team on Baptism of Fire tournament, World Cup qualifikations and both IAC tournaments.

ST Li Peng - 26 y - NK Mladost Melarit
Li Peng , 181 cm and 78 kg , the best striker of his club. He led Mladost Melarit to win the cup. In the final against Dinamo Katanija, he scored a hat trick and had one assist for the 4: 2 victory. Named the player of the match but also the top scorer for last season in the league with 41 goals.
Peng is second best scorrer for national team with 34 goals.

The 1940s heralded the debut of the Malta Comino Gozo national team in the international arena, when they played their first international match on Saturday 21st March 1942 against, winning 2-1. That match was played in front of a full crowd at the old Fortress Stadium. The National Team now play at Quarter Arena in Valletta which is also home to Valletta City F.C.

Malta Comino Gozo has long been famous for punching above its weight in the international field. Despite the countries small size, its sporting infrastructure is comparable to countries of much larger sizes. Football is the countries most popular sport and is taught in all schools. Children and teenagers looking to advance in football can attend further after school football clubs and compete in the Local Education Leagues against schools up and down the country. After this is the MCG Football academy at Briarwood University which specialises in sport and physical activity. Briarwood University is also the home of FA Education and delivers all FA national coach education courses. The range of courses, covering a variety of disciplines, are aligned to the MCG philosophy, consisting of five core elements with the long-term aim to produce winning Malta Comino Gozoan teams at a senior level.

Image

Physical preparation and sport science are integral to the National Football Academy. The state-of-the-art performance facilities, gyms, pools and football pitches incorporate cutting-edge technology and outstanding apparatus, providing the ultimate training and rehabilitation hub for teams.

Every year across the country over 100 boys in each age group (U13, U14, U15/16) are called for trials, from the best performing teams in the Local Education Leagues with the best progressing for 4 further trial stages before they are finally called to form part of their respective squads. The academy coaches continue to scout young players throughout the year. All youth National Teams technical staff are experienced Pro Licenced coaches and academy coaches have TNPFA Pro, TNPFA Elite A qualifications. The boys have eleven qualified coaches four physiotherapists, two medical doctors and a psychologist. Most U18 players are then signed for Malta Comino Gozoan national league teams with 60% of all these boys going to either Valletta City F.C. or Għallieha FC the two biggest teams on the islands. The Malta Comino Gozo has one of the youngest average ages in the multiverse with an average age of 26.

The Women's department is formed of 2 groups: the academy U12, U14, U16 and the Youth National Teams U17, U19 who participate in full international TNPFA competitive games. In each age group, there are twenty-five players. The MCG sporting philosophy ensures that coaching and training performed by our coaches are coordinated from one level to another, to finally reach their best in the Malta Comino Gozoan Woman National Team.
Girls joining the academy are scouted from local clubs games and our After School’s football activities and games for young girls.
Similar to the boys’ academies, the girls/women's squads have eight qualified coaches, three physiotherapists, a medical doctor and a psychologist.

Malta Comino Gozo was drawn into Group H of The North Pacific World Cup in 2018 and faced its first game on December 4th against Krevt. Treshmania, Krevt and Lotion Empire were all drawn in Group H. Malta CG lost their first game 0-3 to Krevt at the AMW Stadium before winning against Lotion Empire 1-2 and 2-0 against Treshmania. This meant that MCG qualified by coming in second place in the Group H tables, therefore, qualifying for their first every Round of 16! Malta Comino Gozo faced the First Republic of the Giandra and went on to win 2-0. The victorious national team then played World Cup Hosts, Nessuno in the countries first-ever World Cup Quarter Finals. The game ended in a 0-0 draw and after ET MCG devastatingly lost out on penalties to the hosts. Malta Comino Gozo who had ranked 80th in the region back in 2018 are now 5th.

The Malta Comino Gozoan team is proudly being cheered on by the National Malta Comino Gozo Football Mascot "Mascot Malcolm The Miraculous Minnow"

Introduction

Flavovespia is an island nation in Anaia, and before that Atlantian Oceania. With a relatively modest size and a modest population of just over 20’000’000, it’s not one of the world’s largest nations, but it still has plenty of character. As the name of the nation may suggest, it’s known for its population of hornets (which thankfully are rarely harmful to humans and other sentient species). The national football team are nicknamed the Hornets.

They say sometimes 7 is a lucky number, and Flavovespia will be looking for some luck in their 7th qualifying outing. Yet to qualify for the World Cup, a Quarter Final appearance in Cup of Harmony 78 is probably the best achievement of the national team so far. The national football team is well supported, despite the relatively critical and cynical takes from some fans and media. Flavovespia are hoping for the day they finally break the biggest barrier so far and make the 32 team World Cup.

National Stadia

Hornet's Nest
Location: Waldster
Club team: Waldster FC
Capacity: 75000
Opened: 0U
Open/Closed Roof: Covered seating, retractable roof

Image

Based in the capital, and the largest stadium in the nation, Hornet’s Nest is still considered the marquee stadium of Flavovespia to many. It’s facilities are still top class, and it’s hosted many classic teams and some big international nations.

Highland Road
Location: Hadford Hill
Club team: Hadford Hill FC
Capacity: 69518
Opened: 79BU
Open/Closed Roof: Open seating and field

Image

The oldest stadium still in use in Flavovespia. It’s open stands and layout means it’s definitely a stadium for the old school fans and not high-tech ultramodern connoisseurs, but there’s an unrivalled atmosphere on game day here.

Saints Park
Location: St Astons City
Club team: St Astons City FC
Capacity: 60000
Opened: 30BU
Open/Closed Roof: Covered seating, open field

Image

Saints Park reaches 65 years old now. The stadium was one of the first bigger out-of-city grounds, the idea of which does divide opinion somewhat. However the fans of St Astons City are proud to call it home, and despite its relative age, still holds up well.

City Arena
Location: Marthorpe
Club team: Marthorpe City FC
Capacity: 60000
Opened: 9BU
Open/Closed Roof: Closed roof

Image

A full indoor stadium, much like Marthorpe City FC themselves, it’ll probably divide opinion for evermore. Nevertheless few can deny the advantages of having an indoor stadium when it comes to weather, and it provides a unique setting for games.

Rovers Arena
Location: Loxthorpe
Club team: Loxthorpe Rovers FC
Capacity: 55000
Opened: 23AU
Open/Closed Roof: Covered seating, open field

Image

A stadium that feels like a designer’s dream, Rovers Arena really defined what good stadium design meant in Flavovespia, with perfection to detail inside and outside. Very easy to get to, easy to navigate, and a stadium with a growing legacy and history.

Seafront Stadium
Location: Langmere Green
Club team: Langmere Green Rovers FC
Capacity: 55000
Opened: 33AU
Open/Closed Roof: Covered seating, open field

Image

The newest top class stadium in Flavovespia. As the name suggests, it’s on the seafront of Langmere Green, a very scenic location. A stadium that has come to define the recent success of its home club, and now a venue for Flavovespia and major domestic cup and playoff finals.

Kit

Image

Home-Away-Third

The CAFA Cup 1 kits remain for this cycle, and likely for CAFA Cup 2. The home kit is the traditional yellow shirt, black shorts and socks, with the away kit reversing those colours. However the kits are very much unconventional compared to past designs. The “double V” pattern is made up of gradually changing black to dark yellow quadrilaterals in a tiled pattern. A similar design exists on the shorts. The third kit is a celebration of Anaia, using the purple, white and turquoise-green colours of the nation. A collage of flags of Anaian nations makes a unique pattern on the shirt.

Squad

Manager

Marcus McCormick Age: 57
- Sacked after MD7

A manager who’s performance has so far been a mixed bag for Flavovespia. He’s taken Flavovespia to the knockout stages of the Cup of Harmony 80 and the CAFA Cup 1, but lost the first knockout game of both. He’s not the first Flavovespian manager to suffer the criticism of only being able to win games against weaker sides, and crumbling in the tough to win games. For now the FFA have considered his performances satisfactory if not spectacular, but the FFA can be notoriously quick to fire underperforming managers.

In terms of personality McCormick is generally seen as a more serious, stern manager, especially in tense matches. However he does have his more light-hearted moments, and does have a good rapport with his players. Tactically he used to prefer a 5-2-1-2, with a 4-2-3-1 as a back-up option. Now it seems there’s a switch of focus, with a 4-3-3 entering the mix. Additionally he seems to be planning a more fluid approach to positions and who plays where, looking to fit the players into the tactical setup instead of vice versa.

Nick Cole Age: 50

The first national team manager, Nick Cole returns as an interim manager of Flavovespia. A stern, serious figure, Nick Cole is tough on his players, but shows them the respect they deserve when they deliver. He can be considered a bit of a streaky manager, when his teams are playing well, they can be unstoppable. However sometimes he can struggle to get them out of a rut. His favoured formations tend to be a 4-4-2, 4-1-2-1-2 (wide diamond), or a 4-2-3-1. He is the father of Michael Cole.

Goalkeepers

1 Aarif Muhammad Age: 26 Position: GK Club: Rockridge Phoenix [BRE] Caps: 74 Goals: 0
12 Lucky Diamond Age: 28 Position: GK Club: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Caps: 1 Goals: 0
23 Robert Jones Age: 32 Position: GK Club: Kings Lunsel FC Caps: 3 Goals: 0

No changes in the goalkeeping ranks from Marcus McCormick, the Cup of Harmony 80, CAFA Cup 1 and now World Cup Qualifiers 89 see him call up the same 3 goalkeepers each time. The interest this time will be who starts. Aarif Muhammad had seemingly been the obvious choice for a while, but in the CAFA Cup 1, had several shaky performances, averaging more than 2.5 goals conceded per game. Not all of that was down to him, but his #1 status is in question. If he can reach his best however, he’s definitely the top pick of all Flavovespian goalkeepers. Lucky Diamond is now the second choice. Having settled in more at Loxthorpe Rovers, he’s shown some real talent now. Ever eccentric both on and off the pitch, his ability and tendency to come out from his goal has now been combined with better awareness and distribution, even if he’ll still give fans a few nervy moments. Robert Jones is almost the opposite, a typical classic shot-stopper. Never going to light up the world, and at 32 some fans wanted to see a new face, but in his career he’s always been dependable.

Defenders

2 David Lyons Age: 25 Position: LB Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 53 Goals: 2
3 David Blythe Age: 28 Position: RWB Club: Kytheas Rivermen [TKT] Caps: 102 Goals: 0
4 Stuart Cookson Age: 24 Position: CB Club: Marthorpe City FC Caps: 9 Goals: 0
5 Tony Gardner Age: 31 Position: CB Club: Newrook City FC [NPH] Caps: 166 Goals: 5
13 Kishan Rees Age: 25 Position: LWB Club: Binclestead Wood FC Caps: 3 Goals: 0
14 Alexander May Age: 33 Position: CB Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 111 Goals: 2
15 Ronald Ireland Age: 31 Position: CB Club: Binclestead Wood FC Caps: 0 Goals: 0
16 Andrew Dance Age: 22 Position: RB Club: Loxthorpe Rovers FC Caps: 2 Goals: 0
17 Neil Wright Age: 31 Position: CB Club: Kings Lunsel FC Caps: 40 Goals: 0

Flavovespia’s defence certainly didn’t have a good time of it in the CAFA Cup 1, so there’s been a few question marks already over how many defenders return to the squad. Only Daniel Lansdell doesn’t make it in from the previous Flavovespia squad. Tony Gardner took quite a bit of criticism for a few of his performances, and his critics blame his ego and move abroad. Certainly blunders trying to play out of the back didn’t help the cause. But for all the negatives, he still seems the most complete centre-back Flavovespia have. There’s fierce competition to be a starting centre back. Stuart Cookson for now seems to be winning that battle. A tall defender at 1.90m (6’4), he’s useful against teams who like to play aerial balls. Not necessarily the quickest, he’s compensating with better positioning now. Alexander May has been in the national team since AOCAF Cup 60, and has been in and out of a starting XI position. Tough as nails, he may be coming towards the later years of his careers, but he’s always up for the occasion. Neil Wright returns for the first time since Cup of Harmony 77. Whilst on the ball he’s not exactly graceful, his defensive work rate and skills have meant he’s found a way back into the 23 man squad. Ronald Ireland at the age of 31 is one of the more surprising call-ups. A Binclestead Wood player, the club Marcus McCormick used to manage, sceptical fans have argued a bit of favouritism is at play. However Ireland is the sort of defender who’s a threat in both boxes. Hard to beat in the air, and someone who can cause havoc at set-pieces.

Out wide it’s a relatively youthful outlook. At 28 David Blythe is the oldest of any of the wide defenders. He’s adapted to playing further back at international level than his ideal position, but is still able to make good passes down the right flank. Andrew Dance at 22 has already shown a great level of maturity at club level, and is quickly becoming one of the Super League’s most impressive defenders. He’s tall and strong, and seems on appearances to be an old-school full-back. Despite not seeming that pacey, he’s hard work for wingers to get past. On the left hand side, it’s David Lyons at full back. His defensive skills are some of the finest in the Super League, and he’s gotten better at progressing the ball forward when he has it. His back-up is Kishan Rees. Rees has experience playing both as a wing back and a midfielder at club level, and whilst his defensive skills like tackling and marking could do with some work at this level, he’s got a real eye for passing, crossing and dribbling relative to other defenders.

Midfielders

McCormick seems to be considering both a 4-3-3 and a 4-2-3-1 for now, so there’s plenty of scope for variety in the midfield. Of course the main name in this section is Steven Hall. At 33, the captain knows his chances for going to a World Cup, or going to the latter knockout stages with Flavovespia aren’t staying around forever. Even if his physical attributes have dipped slightly, and some would dispute that, his accuracy in the pass, cross and shot are still almost unrivalled amongst Flavovespians. Expect him to be key on the right wing. Jonathan Feld is an experienced left midfielder who remains in the squad, albeit maybe not as a starter. Versatile as well, having had spells as a centre midfielder, his work rate and intelligence of the game can be a valuable asset. The other wide midfielder Robert Cooper is a controversial call-up. Many expected Christopher Ace to keep that role, but McCormick has decided otherwise. Cooper plays on the right of a 4-2-3-1 for Hadford Hill, and the past few seasons has performed well in the goals and assist charts. He’s near-ambidextrous with his feet, making him a threat to go wide or cut inside. Unlike many wingers, his physicality rather than pace seems to help him against defenders.

The centre of the park has been an area of considerable volatility for Flavovespia. Clark and Clarkson are the duo who look set to begin in that role. David Clark may have evolved into more of a ball playing midfielder, with good vision and passing to back that up, but he certainly can be a ball-winner as well. Clark’s also decent from long-range, cropping up out of nowhere sometimes to be a goalscoring threat. Alexander Clarkson meanwhile is a pure ball-winning midfielder. He’s almost like a centre-back who’s good enough to pass the ball to play in midfield. Robert Totten will be looked at to be a link from midfield to attack. He isn’t someone with lots of flair or fancy tricks, but his awareness of the game means he can create chances, and sometimes get on the end of chances. That said he has limited experience playing a deeper role in a 4-3-3, an intriguing choice by McCormick. Kieron Player continues in the squad, but doesn’t get the #7 jersey. Consistency seems to be his main issue. At his best his movement of the ball, by dribbling or passing can be sublime, but at times he seems to struggle to read the game and play accurately. Murad Ahmed is also in the squad. Very much a utility player and a jack-of-all-trades, he can play largely across the whole midfield, although there’s no one skill that he excels at.

Forwards

9 Michael Cole Age: 24 Position: CF Club: Langmere Green Rovers FC Caps: 28 Goals: 7
10 Scott Coleman Age: 30 Position: CF Club: Aries Chariots [NPH] Caps: 157 Goals: 104
22 Anthony Hannigan Age: 26 Position: CF Club: Kings Lunsel FC Caps: 7 Goals: 0

McCormick takes just the 3 forwards into the squad, possibly based on his tactics. Scott Coleman is one of the first names on the team sheet. Over 100 international goals, he is, and will be, synonymous with the early years of Flavovespia’s international journey. He’s always looking for space, and if he gets the ball in space, is often very accurate. Michael Cole has been predicted to be the next star striker for Flavovespia. He often seems at his best when he can beat the offside trap, playing off the shoulder, sprinting in and finishing in stride. For Flavovespia, he’ll likely be playing left-winger or maybe central attacking midfielder, unless he can displace Coleman from the squad. Anthony Hannigan returns to the squad after being dropped for the CAFA Cup 1. Hannigan is a pacey striker, especially useful if the defence are slow or tired. Accuracy outside the box and on his weaker side isn’t his strong suit however.

Tactics

Marcus McCormick looks set to try one of two tactics. The first is a new 4-3-3 formation, not yet used by Flavovespia. The two full backs will be used to provide some width in defence and midfield, with at least 1 midfielder always acting as a DM. One of the three midfielders will have a more open creative role, and the third will be expected to be a pivot point between attack and defence. Upfront, the lone striker will have to be a goal-scoring threat, but can drop back to try and create space for one of the outside forwards to come in and score.

The second tactic is the more familiar 4-2-3-1. It shares a fair few similarities to the 4-3-3 outlined above. The midfield duo in the centre will be a ball-winning/ball-playing combination mainly. The central attacking midfielder will drop less deep defensively compared to a 4-3-3. The wide attacking midfielders will look to get into positions where they can go out wide and cross to the striker, central attacking midfielder or other wide attacking midfielder. Alternatively, they can try and make a run into the box to score themselves. Other tactics such a 5-2-1-2, if a defensive, counter-attacking strategy is wanted, could be used, but the indication is this is unlikely for now.

Nick Cole looks set to try and play Flavovespia in a more "back to basics" style. With a 4-4-2 or a 4-1-2-1-2, the back 4 will be mainly focused on defending, although the full backs can make the occasional break downfield. The wide midfielders will be expected to provide the width and crosses towards the centre, however can cut inside. Of the central midfielders, one will be very much a defensive ball-winning type, but also with the need to pass well. The other will be attack minded, expected to focus on link up play and being a goalscoring threat. The attacking duo will both be expected to contribute goals. Expect to see one a little more "back to goal" and the other keen to run in off the shoulder. The 4-2-3-1 sacrifices one of the strikers for another deeper midfielder, but the attacking midfield trio should all pose a potential goalscoring threat, and one deeper midfielder will have more room to roam.

Boot It!: Time If Of The Essence...

Postby TJUN-ia » Mon Sep 06, 2021 12:58 pm

Name: TJUN-ia
Trigram: TJU
Football Association: FA-TJUN-ia
Nickname: Jaguars (official)/Jags (short form)/Blue and Orange (commonly-used informal)/Draw Masters (satirical)/Team Nothing (the truth)
WCC Ranking: 49th (17.02 KPB)

Change is certainly in the air. That is the general theme heading into World Cup 89, hosted by two nations who weren't even competing when TJUN-ia debuted back in 84 - Tikariot and South Newlandia. While the 10-team group format will most certainly be familiar to everyone who will follow this tournament, this time will also feature a concept that is beginning to take hold on this team: the passage of time. This is the final WC before Jackson Smith-Holt's deadline of trying to reach the Finals by WC90, so that will certainly be in the minds of both Co-Managers heading into this tournament. This will also be the final tournament of Captain Jeff Donaldson, who announced after IAC13 that his 6th WC Campaign will most certainly be his last, with his final games either at the WC itself or at a 6th CoH. Many others are rumoured to be considering similar moves themselves right across the now 48-man squad, so who knows what this team will look like entering IA14 in a year's time. For David Seems and Li Xiu Ying, this tournament isn't just about qualifying - it's about figuring out who will be the next players to move up the pegging order once the boots are inevitably hung...

STADIUMS
Stadium: National Stadium
Location: TJUN-ia City, JB TJUN-ia
Capacity: 74,000
Image

The hallowed halls of TJUN-ian football have always tried to be a fortress for the Blue and Orange, but to no avail. The National Stadium in TJUN-ia City was built to accommodate as many outdoor sporting events as possible and while the football layout can be a bit shallow at times, that doesn't stop 74,000 spectators from trying to turn this ground into a football fortress. They are quite welcoming to any and all opposition who play here until foul play emerges in one way or another. This place is the main stadium for both the JagBase and TJUN-ia, but many aren't sure if they want to see another Playoff game in this place...

Stadium: Beregozera Stadium
Location: Szensky, CSTO Zone
Capacity: 81,000
Image

The largest stadium in use for football once more, "The Lakeside" Stadium is mostly known for Krasnaya Stena, an ultra-like group of supporters who take the game very seriously and who try their best to make the main stadium of the CSTO the hardest place to play in all of TJUN-ia. The national team failed to perform to their expectations when this circus finally came to Szensky during WC85, but better tournaments since have seen a change in opinion from KS, who certainly want their turf to be the fortress of the Jags no matter the opposition. To anyone who must play us in this 81,000-capacity dome of noise, I can only give you one piece of advice: Удачи тебе (Udachi tebe). Good luck to you.

Stadium: Tiankong Stadium
Location: Tiankong, CEA Zone
Capacity: 57,000
Image

Built for the CEA Games and nicknamed by many as "the People's Stadium", Tiankong Stadium has seen a lot of wins for the national team on home soil since it debuted. In fact, this is so obvious that many in the CEA capital like to troll their JB or CSTO friends with jokes about how good this team is whenever they play in front of the smallest crowd out of the three. 57,000 may not sound like a lot, but the people of Tiankong certainly make up for it all with just how loud they can be and with the team playing great whenever they come here, who knows if this magic can ever run out?!

NEPHARA
World Ranking:
3rd
Preferred Formation: 4-2-3-1
Secondary Formation: 4-4-2 / 4-3-3
Style Modifier: -1
Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell is reserved for the biggest games, but Nephara is a large enough country that it spreads its matches across the nation.
Kit Supplier: ediraf
Nickname: The Cormorants

Going into qualifying, the Cormorants technically hadn't lost a game in the past year... in 90 minutes. However, Cassadaigua stopped them in 120, and Zwangzug on penalties. Still, the Nepharan stocks are strong and deep, with a number of strong players in their prime duking it out for hotly-contested plane seats. Qualifying went perfectly smoothly, discounting the minor incidents of a lobster-induced forfeit and an invasion to uphold a totalitarian government. Triffid Ramsey has gone three years without a trophy, and somehow that feels like a drought. Nephara expects.

Overall Record
601 wins - 110 draws - 134 losses
1977 scored - 994 conceded

Eagle's Cup 5
4 Cope Rushmori - 30, 35, 36, 37

Tactics
Image
Nepharan football is based around playing hard, pressing aggressively, playing for keeps. Occasionally this leaves gaps behind the high defensive line, though most Nepharan goalkeepers are in the sweeping mould these days to compensate. Marchers are, by and large, a physically imposing folk, and eager to throw their size around. The footballing culture is intensely competitive, and those that survive to make their way to the top are hellbent on winning at any cost. Elbows to the face. Subtle digs in the ribs. Diving is dishonest when opponents do it but streetwise when Nepharim do it. In short, Nephara are the bully from two years above who picked you, specifically, out as a natural target.

That is often the foreign perspective, but it overlooks a key fact; Nepharan football can honestly be beautiful to watch. Generations of players brought up on dry plains or asphalt play the ball quickly and fearlessly along the ground, never sideways when there's a forward option open, always looking to stretch and probe and stay one really good pass away from a goal. Nepharim are undoubtedly physical, even cynical, but their success has been built off the backs of ruthless, fast-paced passing football.

The Godhead
For home matches, and during international tournaments, Nephara wheels out the 'Godhead', a giant boulder with an eerie resemblance to Gethin Ramsey, first manager of the Cormorants in the modern era and by now long dead. Nepharim have a superstitious streak, and while nobody's saying it is, in fact, the mystic reincarnation of their most iconic leader, nobody's quite not saying it, either. The Godhead is traditionally 'walked' to the stadium by Nepharan ultras using an intricate series of ropes, and often a flare is wedged into its 'mouth' to simulate a smoking cigar.

Staff
Manager - Triffid Ramsey - Age 49
Assistant Manager - Catherine Sedgwick - Age 60
Daughter of the legendary Gethin Ramsey, Nephara's Baptism of Fire manager and (probably) the first manager to take three different nations to the World Cup, but Triffid's eager to get out from under that shadow. A very good but not excellent player, Ramsey took naturally to management and pursues a more modern version of the elder Ramsey's ideals - industry backed by data, athleticism backed by sport science, pace backed by skill. Catherine Sedgwick is a former national team player and formidable manager in her own right, here to offer a steady hand at the tiller and keen tactical mind. Together, they won the World Cup. What else is there to say?

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Aranea Provost (Image Spartangrad) - Age 29 - 81 caps, 41 clean sheets
WC87 Champion
Anyone with any sense has their eye on Provost. She's sharp, spry, with the height and deceptive power to command her area, and only getting better year on year. Her sights are set on the very top, as she has the potential to be one of the best in the game.

12 - GK - Raluca Garamond (Image Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 29 - 15 caps, 6 clean sheets
WC87 Champion
A languid, reliable goalkeeper with a rare command of her area. She might not be the most eye-catching of shot-stoppers, but her judgement and anticipation are second to none. Garamond will reliably concede slightly fewer goals than expected without ever really being flashy about it.

20 - GK - Fasolt Senninger (Image AFC Treason) - Age 32 - 15 caps, 4 clean sheets
Another former Stags backup who had to leave for fresh air, Senninger combines the physique of a shaved bear with balletic reflexes. He wound up returning to his hometown club, and his excellent form has lead to a national recall as well. An excellent, graceful shot-stopper, but lacking in the finer things.

Defenders
2 - RB - Rovena Stride (Image AFC Treason) - Age 30 - 121 caps, 10 goals
C75 Galactico, WC87 Champion
Stride's surname is apt. She's fast; very fast, and just gets the simple things right. All of them at once, racing upfield for overlapping runs to lash in raking low crosses, before tracking back at full speed to put in a crunching sliding tackle. A world-class player, and the goalscorer in the WC87 final; this will be her final World Cup.

3 - LB - Radeka Lind (Image Jinja City FC) - Age 23 - 38 caps, 4 goals
WC87 Champion
Lind still looks somewhat coltish, but it belies her unerring eye for a challenge. It's Lind's unabashed love of taking the ball away from people that's her standout in a country that tends to like its fullbacks forward at every opportunity; Lind swings in a vicious cross, but her inherent caution is well-suited to the international game.

5 - CB - Reniira Clevinger (Image Herzegovina City FC) - Age 26 - 72 caps, 13 goals
The first half-satyr - indeed, the first non-fullblooded human - to represent the national team, Clevinger essentially looks like a hulking 6'8" woman with blue skin and stubby, vestigial horns poking out of her scalp. Unsurprisingly, she's also the tallest person in Cormorants history. That's handy as a centre-half, and helped her score two goals in WC87.

6 - CB - Miska Brabanzon (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 27 - 32 caps, 2 goals
WC87 Champion
A pugnacious, bruising centre-half who flies eagerly and viciously into challenges. The hope is that Brabanzon and Clevinger will be the new Thorn and Brosch, going forward, just as they've been at youth level and in the Eagles Cup - this, despite playing for the two sides with the most enduring rivalry in Nephara. She offers more silk and dynamism to go with the steady Clevinger's steel.

17 - RB - Pristina Soeringer (Image Stein-los Turkish) - Age 26 - 37 caps, 3 goals
Diminutive when she came through the ranks, Soeringer learned to fight dirty from the low ground, before late-blooming into a powerful specimen. She can play dirty or firm-but-fair, and boasts an excellent cross and the nous to know when to surge forward. A superb allrounder.

18 - LB - Tanya Islinger (Image Vermillion Rage) - Age 27 - 15 caps
Lean, versatile and pacy, Islinger emerged as a specialist wingback, and is still at her best on the overlap. A player who has done the hard yards at the wrong end of the table, and is determined to make the most of the chances she's got in the green and black.

22 - CB - Shosanna Bruhn (Image Soldarian FC) - Age 27 - 30 caps, 1 goal
An atypical centre-half in many ways. For one, she comes from a wealthy family; for another, she's extremely tidy and reliable in possession. But don't let either of those things lull you into thinking she can't handle herself in a fight. She's had to deal with her fair share of doubters over qualifying, but Ramsey believes in her ability to keep and use the ball.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Rook Timekeeper (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 26 - 46 caps, 1 goal
An elegant player with a strapping physique, Timekeeper offers both silk and steel in equal measure. With pace, technique and strength, he roves the midfield not only able to whisk the ball away, but with plenty of ideas for where it can go afterwards. A thumping shot doesn't hurt, though in fairness it's usually thumped into the stands, or a nearby street.

7 - RM/AM - Anselm Koerner (Image 1830 Cathair) - Age 29 - 66 caps, 15 goals
WC87 Champion
Surprisingly, a winger without all that much flair. Koerner's best aspects are blinding pace, bruising muscle and relentless physicality, and he's set to ride that to the top. Nobody really expected him to be the one of his class to make it, but the difference might just be top-class athleticism and the workrate to us e it. He's always, always running.

8 - CM - Lothaire Cromwell (Image AC Izotz Zubia) - Age 29 - 86 caps, 19 goals
WC87 Champion
Cromwell is the kind of player whose statistical multi-scale radar looks like a circle. He held down the midfield for the U21s and can certainly play that role, but at heart he needs to run, and room to run forward into the box at the perfect moment. He's tall, strong, fast, he'll brawl, he can pick out a pass, and he's already a leader of the team.

11 - LW - Kendra Considine Ramsey (Image AFC Treason) - Age 27 - 54 caps, 10 goals
WC87 Champion
The wild card of the team. Considine's international future was an unknown for the longest time, and those closest to the player assumed she'd represent Schottia. She's Triffid Ramsey's adoptive daughter, and has no actual blood ties to Nephara. But she's ambitious, at heart, and with Schottia out of current contention, has seized her opportunity to bring her particular brand of fey lethality to the world stage.

13 - RW - Severine Reed (Image Raynor City United) - Age 25 - 44 caps, 16 goals
Elegant and refined, despite coming from Stahlburg, Reed's instantly recognisable from the intricate and connected vine tattoos linking both arms. She's also instantly recognisable from the absolutely vicious right-footed deliveries of crosses and shots.

14 - AM - Thalassa Fletcher (Image La Nueva Avenida) - Age 26 - 25 caps, 8 goals
No, not that Fletcher, the other Fletcher. Exene is the rags-to-riches story; Thalassa's got pedigree and is living up to it. Not as likable a person, not seen as a natural scrapper, but living in Farfadillis at times like these proves she's harder than given credit for. Statuesque, arrogant, and crisp on the ball. Fletcher never puts a foot wrong. It almost feels like she plays the game in stiletti.

15 - HM - Sonya Belltower (Image Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 24 - 15 caps
Aptly, Belltower is tall, strong, powerful and keeps a good sense of timing. She's a scrupulously honest and fair holding midfielder, which is probably her largest flaw. Still, she does have the required cynicism, and backs it up with game intelligence, physicality and an excellent passing range.

16 - CM - Pernille Brand (Image Brinemouth) - Age 26 - 19 caps, 5 goals
A beautifully elegant player on the ball, with boundless vision and a passing range to match. Unusually for stereotypes of Nepharan players, Brand isn't particularly physically robust, though she's certainly not unathletic. She's also not quite the most consistent of players. But on her day, she can single-handedly win a midfield battle. 16 is her signature number, for whatever reason.

19 - RW/LW - Ysabet Belgrade (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 28 - 57 caps, 13 goals
WC87 Champion
A combative firebrand on and off the pitch, Belgrade really just wants to make trouble. Bad things happen to defenders when she's involved. Relentless when taking on defenders and making surging, violent runs that slam into opposing defences and scatter opponents in their wake.

23 - RW/ST - Traudl Mrdja (Image Partisan Sjoedrhavn) - Age 29 - 46 caps, 14 goals
WC87 Champion
Rangy and raw-boned, a part of Mrdja still can't believe she's come this far. She made her name by simply being fearless on a local side in Rochford that had cause to fear most anyone. A player of relentless energy who relishes the chance to press hard and early. Becoming something of a lucky charm for the national team.

Forwards
9 - ST - Ruby Gjasula (Image Bastion) - Age 29 - 21 caps, 12 goals
Feisty, arrogant and with a remarkable eye for goal, Gjasula's meteoric rise to become one of the Goldleague's most feared strikers has been remarkable. Originally reliant on her pace, Gjasula's intelligence shines through with her runs, and her ruthless finishing helps round out a lethal forward.

10 - ST - Konrad Lovelace (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 32 - 101 caps, 51 goals
C78 Galactico, WC87 Champion
'The new Estrella Hawke', according to excitable headlines that don't pay attention to anything that matters. They're both from Starling, they're both strikers, they're both athletic, they're both good. Blistering pace, football intelligence and a ruthless finish are his best assets, his right boot his one failing. The one year he forced his way above Bastable, he was still dropped for the final for tactical reasons; he just can't catch a break.

21 - ST - Latona Basilisk (Image Mâ Âlâmëómë) - Age 28 - 63 caps, 34 goals
C75 Young Galactico, WC87 Champion
Former Young Galactico Basilisk is self-assured to the point of parody, right to the point of having made 'Basilisking' - purported to be her petrifying stare one-on-one with goalkeepers - not only part of her brand, but trademarked. So you'd better believe it matters to say: she's very nearly as good as she thinks she is. Moxham decided only Basilisk had the moxie to pull off the 21 without her. Then came back to reclaim it. Now she's gone again, so Basilisk's gone through a lot of shirt numbers.

Aminey - Stade sur la Baie (70000) - home to Aminey CS (and the Aminey Caspians, Aminey Buffaloes, and Aminey Owls).
The flagship stadium, huge production values, the works.

Schemerdrecht - Orange Bowl (54000) - home to Schemerdrecht SVV (and the Schemerdrecht Admirals).
More associated perhaps with the Admirals than the SVV, but it's nearly always sold out venue for great crowds in any sport.

Maethoru - Rikalathen Arena (39000) - home to Maethoru SC (and Mayara Wanderers-Vulpecula).
Close to the KFA's training grounds, at least it has that going for it. Crowds aren't great here.

Étouille - Stade Amandine (30000) - home to Tanques AOE (and the Etouille Vultures).
Some amazing drone shots in front of a crowd that understands its joie de vivre.

Santa Teresa - Estádio Fortaleza (29000) - home to Miradela GD (and the Santa Teresa Sabres).
Made to be exactly 1000 seats larger than their rivals' stadium, the Fortaleza is the upper-class stadium.
OR
Santa Teresa - Estádio Marítimo (28000) - home to Branvon CD.
The working class stadium that is, in all facets, a bit inferior to the Fortaleza. Except the crowds. There's no better stadium for wild crowds.

Maynard - Armskirk Municipal Ground (26000) - home to Maynard AFC.
The unlucky Maynard team have asked the KFA to have their stadium used by the national team - as the only southwestern stadium.

Katashi - Suzumebachi Stadium (25000) - home to Katashi-Kanatsu.
The biggest stadium in the east, Katashi deserves a game. The fans will mostly just cheer for the Yoshiman players, though.

Greencaster - Golhampton Grounds (25000) - home to lower league Langward.
Greencaster is our largest city and... that's their only claim to a Dragonflies home game.

Aevanna - Northern Arena (32000) - home to university team 'Aevanna Ecologiske Universitet'.
The KFA wants some games geographically spread across the country, and so the cold, dark, and cold gridiron Northern Arena is on the list.

The Yellowsash is the standard home jersey. The black and yellow jerseys are all used as away, alternate, or GK jerseys.

Image
This team is all about containing their opponent, letting them make mistakes, and capitalising on those. Let the other guys get impatient, lose the ball, and immediately go for the counter attack. Yes, it's frustrating to play against, but you have to admit that there's a certain beauty to doing this near-flawlessly every single time. The Dragonflies aren't a very physical team, but can match almost every opponent in stamina (not so much power or speed, though. Typically only the wingers are pacy). Instead, they rely on tactics and patience. The team is also good enough to be in possession a lot and dictate the tempo, though they're not always creative enough to break down the opposing defence - for that, the Dragonflies have learned to be very, very good on counterattacks, set pieces, and a few patterns in open play. Given the experience most of these players have, it's hard to come up with something new they've never seen - and then do that well enough to reliably score. In order to beat us, you'll need to bring two (or more) of the following: power, speed, caution.

Basically, this team comes prepared, is patient, and keeps a cool head.

Penalties: Erisia, Vaugrenard, Mizuno
Free kicks: Odgers, Janoreirinthen, Miyahara, Lampshire
Corner kicks: Longchambon, Kaplan, Moore

Most likely to get booked: Mizuno, Ensaunden, Wormstal, Batchelor, Aiamara
Most likely to be fouled: Mizuno, Ensaunden, Theshendan, Longchambon

Feel free to ignore those suggestions

Image
Numbers 1 to = typically start (but not always, feel free to choose your starters). That's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X, and =.
Numbers 1-23 are typically selected as starters or subs (but not always, feel free to select some 23+-ers as subs or starters).
Numbers over 23 are mostly there as emergency replacements, but can be part of the 23-man squad for some qualifiers.

Image
The standard for this team. Five defenders, a defensive midfielder-slash-pivot, two wingers, an attacking midfielder-annex-second striker, and a pure finisher up front. In possession, one of the defenders can push up: this might be one of the fullbacks to provide width, but can also be one of the centrebacks, in which case the defensive midfielder makes way. The wingers will be wider or narrower based on the opposition, and the same determines how far the fullbacks will advance. In defence, the team becomes narrower, with the defensive midfielder playing spoiler to whoever is trying to find space between the Ko-orenite lines, and the wingers falling back to meet opposing fullbacks. The striker and attacking midfielder will almost always look for space to launch a counterattack.
Image
The alternate lineup, which still adheres to a basic 5-4-1. You could call it a 5-5-0, seeing as the striker is sitting back much further. This lineup works the exact same for the defenders, with or without possession. The defensive and central midfielder are pivots, the wingers have far more freedom to find space, and the striker drops back to receive the ball and allow other players to overlap, enabling them to score a goal rather than the striker themselves. In defence, the midfielders can organically shrink and expand their 'pentagram-five' formation much more fluidly.

TEAM HAPILOPPER
Full Nation Name: The Dominion of Hapilopper
Trigramme: HAP
Nickname: The Haps
Team Colors: Blue, Green and White

Info:
Could this be a new beginning? Team Hapilopper came out of nowhere to make a run at the semifinals of the most recent AOCAF before getting knocked off in one of the greatest matches ever played, against Banija. Their placing gave Hapiloppians new life. Sure, some will say the AOCAF was depleted because of recent unfortunate political events that have only done more harm than good for everyone involved, but the fact is, it gave Hapiloppians new life and new hope. This team hardly resembles that team that made that semifinal run in the AOCAF, and it resembles even less the team that slogged through multiple poor showings in World Cup qualifiers. Instead, this is a team that is young, hungry, and full of enthusiasm. If anything, it resembles the Team Hapilopper that played and conquered the 70th Baptism of Fire. They're led by one remaining first generation player, the controversial Nathan Ellis, whose career could very well evolve from homicidal thug to a father to his men. We'll see how it turns out.

(Pictured: Capital Stadium in gridiron configuration)
Capital Stadium, Hapilopper's de facto national stadium, is the last of Hapilopper's classic cookie-cutter venues, used for a variety of applications, including the Hapilopper City Nationals baseball team, the Hapilopper National Baseball Team and is the home of Team Hapilopper. As is custom with cookie-cutter stadiums, the park is completely symmetrical and is surrounded by multiple decks of stands, typically filled with screaming fans when the home team is doing well. Back in the 1970s, the HC Nationals, and their vaunted "National Machine" dominated Hapiloppian baseball, and brought over four million fans through the turnstiles on six occasions. Hapiloppian fans have vowed to come to Capital Stadium in force for Team Hapilopper games. Typically, Hapiloppian fans, including the members of the "Traveling Thrashers" supporters group are among the wildest fans in sport, and promise to be exactly that for the World Cup. Expect to see fans dancing along to 1970s funk music, slamming drums as loudly as possible, waving their flags, and throwing streamers for every Hapiloppian goal.

THE PLAYERS:
Image
#1 - BILLY SOLOMON | Goalkeeper | Age: 23 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @billy_solomon | Club: Hap City Highway Patrol
Style of Play: Sweeper Keeper | Speed: Slow | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Intense
Billy Solomon will be the first to tell you that he's a little bit nervous being out there. One of the new breed of Hapiloppian footballers, Solomon is not as well-known as some of his counterparts in Hapiloppian football, and certainly not as famous as his direct predecessor, Cooter Harris. But that's just fine. He's still young, and he's got a bright future ahead of him. He's a highly efficient goalkeeper as well, averaging one goal allowed per 135 minutes of play. Away from the pitch, Solomon is known for sharing uplifting images over social media, with the intention of "leaving a smile on everyone's face, whenever I can. We've got to make this world a better place."

Image
#2 - LEWIS PRYOR | Defenseman/Left Wingback | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @pryor60 | Club: The Soldiers of Hap City
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Professional
For two years now, Lewis Pryor has patrolled the backfield of Capital Stadium with frightening precision, being able to stop an offensive effort with tremendous ease. His style of play is seen as "physical without going too far," and while Lewis will take a card or two, that's almost to be expected from him playing defense. Last year, Lewis accrued 11 yellow cards and three red cards - two because of card accumulation and one straight red, and donated money to a local children's hospital for each card received. Lewis said he modeled it off of HTN's highly controversial "They Crash, You Win!" sweepstakes from the Hapiloppian Grand Prix.

Image
#3 - ACE BOONE | Defenseman/Right Wingback | Age: 24 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: (none) | Club: West Hampton Sports Club
Style of Play: Man-To-Man | Speed: Medium-Fast | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Antisocial
You remember those annoying jerks in high school that would try to piss you off any chance they got? The one that would make your life miserable, or at least try to, as you tried to get from class to class? Ace Boone most likely patterns himself off of these kinds of people. Hell, he probably was one in high school. These aren't the kind of people that will stuff you into a gym locker or drench you at the water fountain, but they're the ones that are annoying pests, and will say the most obnoxious things to you to try to piss you off. Ace plays man-to-man defense that way, getting right up in the face of a midfielder or a striker. Rumors persist about Boone saying some real obnoxious things to forwards, too, but he's not talking.

Image
#4 - JEROLD DICKMAN | Defenseman/Defensive Sweeper | Age: 20 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @JerryDMan | Club: Hap City Highway Patrol
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Oh Hell Yes | Attitude: Asshole
The last time Jerold Dickman appeared on an international stage, he was being physically led away from the pitch at Old Club Stadium in Taeshan after starting a bench-clearing brawl between the Hapilopper and Xanneria under-18 squads. Dickman was asked to receive professional help for his actions, and all indications are that, yes, he got the professional help, but since joining the Hapilopper City Highway Patrol team last year, Dickman has started to revert to his old physical style of play. Not on the level of Nathan Ellis's barbarism, but he's getting there. It will be interesting to see how Ellis works with Dickman - will he take the young Dickman under his wing? After all, many suggest that Dickman now is what Nate was when he was 20 years old.

Image
#5 - NATHAN ELLIS | Defenseman/Centerback Stopper | Age: 33 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @NateEllis | Club: Southfell United (Nephara)
Style of Play: Homicidal | Speed: Medium-Fast | Physicality: Oh Hell Yes | Attitude: Asshole
He's the last one left. Nathan Ellis is the final player remaining out of Hapilopper's original team, that team that won the 70th Baptism of Fire in such a dominant manner, that everyone predicted nothing but greatness coming from Hapilopper. And it almost came, but then it didn't. Every other player from that legendary Baptism of Fire squad has either retired, been drummed out of the international team or just plain left. But Nathan Ellis will, and this sounds horrifying, serve as the captain of Team Hapilopper. There's no word on how many years Nate has left, but you just have to think Nate wants to see the inside of a World Cup proper before he retires. He's gone through so much and seen so much that he wished he hadn't seen. And so much that he probably caused himself. One wonders if his age will mellow him out. One would hope so.

Image
#6 - MAVERICK KING | Midfielder | Age: 23 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @MavKing | Club: United Hampton Cities
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Professional
With a name like "Maverick King," you probably have to think he got a lot of attention when he was in school. He probably heard it all the time from his classmates. "You're the Maverick King?" kids would ask. "You look like a fat chump to me!" All the jokes. All the nastiness. And Maverick King wanted to get past it. And then one day he snapped, body-slamming a bully to the ground. A teacher, concerned about what could happen, told Maverick to consider getting into soccer. And so he did, channeling his anger and frustration into soccer, being a better player, and getting in shape. He takes the heckling in stride and channels it to become a better footballer.

Image
#7 - JAMES HUDDLESTON | Midfielder | Age: 24 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: (none) | Club: FC Buckridge
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Determined
So, you know how major sports stars get off a bus and arrive at the stadium with those huge headphones covering their ears? Many listen to all kinds of music. Country music. House music. Rock music. Metal. Rap. Jimmy Huddleston, however, is listening to old radio broadcasts from the HASCAR Radio Network, which does the radio coverage of the HASCAR Challenge Cup stock car racing series in Hapilopper, as well as the Super Skychief 500 NSSCRA race. Jimmy's father, Greg, is the chief announcer for the network, and has been for over 25 years. Jimmy Huddleston could be listening to last year's Super Skychief 500 and the bone-chilling call of Drake Stevenson chasing down Kai Qiang. Jimmy says it gets him in the right frame of mind to play ball, and to play his brand of defensive football. And there's few players in Hapilopper that can play the midfield like Jimmy Huddleston can.

Image
#8 - WILLIAM ALTENBERRY | Midfielder | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @William_Altenberry | Club: Pinkerton City SC
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Friendly
William Altenberry has already said he's a Pinkerton lifer. Born and raised in Pinkerton, a smaller town on the southern part of Hapilopper, Altenberry enjoys playing in front of those he has known his entire life. Teachers, school friends, his youth group at church, his relatives - ALL the relatives, Altenberry enjoys going out there, jockeying for position against his opponents and occasionally scoring goals that he'll invariably dedicated to his high school sweetheart, Ashley. How sweet. But there's a different side of Altenberry on the pitch that his very friendly nature belies. Altenberry can - and will - get into card trouble as he fights for the ball. Not on the level of, say, Nate Ellis or Jerold Dickman, but he'll go for it.

Image
#9 - HERB NORTHROP | Midfielder | Age: 22 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @herb_northrop | Club: FC Buckridge
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Medium-Fast | Physicality: Normal | Attitude: Professional
Herbert Northrop, one of many, many players from Hapilopper's infamous Sporting World Cup teams, is one of the most spiritual members of a Hapiloppian football team that has existed. A graduate of Southland Christian Academy in Buckridge, Northrop makes sure to say a prayer before he hits the pitch, and when he scores a goal, he drops to one knee and says a prayer to the Good Lord Above for allowing him to score a goal. You won't see Northrop pulling off cheap shots like Jerold Dickman, and you won't see him attempting to end someone's career (or life) like Nathan Ellis. That's not what he does. Instead, he tries to play as professionally as he can, as cleanly as he can, as effectively as he can. And his style is quite effective, leading the Hapiloppian League in midfielder goals last year with 12.

Image
#10 - PETER ROBSON | Forward | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @PeteRobson | Club: FC Surrey
Style of Play: Creative | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Professional
Pete Robson, one of two forwards for Team Hapilopper, was second in goals last year with 36, leading FC Surrey to second place in the Hapiloppian League, a surprising statistic considering FC Surrey, or sports in Surrey at all for that matter, have been known for their success. In fact, the most noteworthy thing in sport in Surrey lately has been the backlash to a ballpark in the northern Surrey suburbs. Instead of thinking about all of the failures that have plagued sports in Surrey over the years, Pete Robson put his head down and did what he did best - score goals, and he scored a hell of a lot of them. Away from the field, Robson is a key member of a group in Surrey that calls themselves "The Asskickers," a group from Surrey Perimeter College that held some damned spectacular parties in the style of Fernie Fairburn's old parties at that school.

Image
#11 - TOBY BRYSON | Forward | Age: 21 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @tobyb90 | Club: The Soldiers of Hapilopper City
Style of Play: Straightforward | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Relaxed
Imagine for a second sitting in Toby Bryson's shoes. You look in your locker and see your name above the number 11, the number that the great Ernie Stevenson wore for so many years for Hapilopper national teams, scoring so many goals, including all of those screamers in the Baptism of Fire. All of those shots in the World Cup Qualifiers. The "Hop Skip Holy Shit" goals. The bicycle kicks. But now Ernie is done playing international football, most likely playing one or two more seasons in Nephara and then he's going home to take care of his new twin children. The door has opened for Toby Bryson to take the showcase position on Team Hapilopper's roster, and he hopes to make the most of it. But imagine, just for a second, sitting in his shoes. He's the one that has replaced Ernie Stevenson. How stressful of a role must THAT be?

Image
#12 - MORRIS JAMISON | Forward | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @jamisonmo | Club: Hap City Highway Patrol
Style of Play: Scrappy | Speed: Fast | Physicality: High | Attitude: Antisocial
Morris Jamison will have you believe that he should be the one in the Ernie Stevenson slot. He should be the one wearing the number 11. After all, he'll be the first to tell you he's scrapped for everything he's ever had. Barely making the team at Conrad Saylor High School, before impressing the coaches enough to make him the lead striker. Riding the bench on the SWC side, before amazing his teammates at the Highway Patrol enough to give him that much more time for the coaches to see him. He's worked for everything he's got and damn it, he's going to make damn sure that Thom Perkins makes him start a match or two. Students at Saylor High arriving by bus in the morning have seen the lights on in the stadium as the sun rises. They'll see Jamison, by himself, practicing pivot moves and long-distance shots on goal. And if that's the case, he's been there all night.

Image
#13 - ELIAS MOON | Forward | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @eliasmoon | Club: The Soldiers of Hapilopper City
Style of Play: Creative | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Creative
On the other hand, Elias Moon is just happy to be here. Since barely making the SWC squad a few years ago, Moon has made a living on trying out as many trick shots on goal as he can. He wants to be just like Ernie Stevenson, although without the other parts of Ernie Stevenson. In other words, he's a trick-shot artist and that's it. His videos of trick shots have gone viral on social media, like, most recently, a goal scored from the back of a moving minivan circling around the pitch of Capital Stadium, a stunt that impressed both Hapiloppian fans and angered the Hapilopper National Baseball Team after it led to some damage to the artificial turf at the stadium. But while his goal scoring is on point, his fundamentals could use some work, and that's why he's riding the bench.

Image
#20 - KERRY SPALDING | Midfielder | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @k-spalding | Club: Raceway FC
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Rough | Attitude: Moron
Veteran observers will tell you that a Hapiloppian sports team, it just so seems, just has to have at least one idiot on it. They're a great ball player or race car driver, but they do stupid things. Chris Holmes put an iguana in Kai Qiang's car. Nolan Jefferson stole a bullpen cart and crashed it into a gas station. Kerry Spalding, meanwhile, missed half the season last year after a night of bowling at Sparky's Lanes, a popular bowling alley in Buckridge. While there, Spalding ran down a bowling lane like an idiot and attempted to shoot it from point blank range. Unfortunately, he slipped, fell and landed flat on his face, twisting both of his ankles and breaking his nose. What an idiot. There is a unfortunate belief, and this seems to support it, that Hapiloppian athletes can be the biggest dingbats in international sport.

Image
#21 - PIERS ADCOCK | Midfielder | Age: 20 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: (none) | Club: Peoria FC
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Yeah, it's there alright | Attitude: Asshole
What is it about people named "Piers"? Piers Adcock, defensive midfielder for Team Hapilopper, is that kind of player you just want to punch out. Not because he's being stupid, but because it seems like he's so god damn full of himself. He has to look his absolute best, the world has to revolve around him - hell, before a training session leading up to the start of World Cup 89, Piers marched into the locker room and declared "the future of Hapiloppian football has just arrived, and that future is me!" He's lucky Nate Ellis didn't go over and pop him in the mouth. But the point was made. Piers has a very arrogant attitude, even more so for a backup player. When he does get playing time, he'll play as dirty as the rest of them, something that DID get him punched by midfielder Maverick King during a training session. We'll see how this attitude develops.

Image
#22 - RUFUS HARTLEY | Midfielder | Age: 21 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @r-p-hartley | Club: Pinkerton City SC
Style of Play: Offensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: He's named Rufus, what do you expect | Attitude: Brawler
Just so you know, Rufus Parnell Hartley is a nice guy. He'll be the first donating at church. He tips well at restaurants. He helps at the soup kitchen if needed. But on the field, he's one of those guys that will get into a brawl on the pitch if someone wrongs him. He'll drop a player with the kind of tackle that makes Nathan Ellis wish he had pulled that on Alexis Fotellis. But he'll also score goals if needed, scoring nine last year for Pinkerton. He'll be a dominating presence on the offensive side of the pitch, making other players bend to his will, by force if need be. Away from the pitch, Hartley's family owns dozens of Jane's Diner franchises all around the Pinkerton area, to the point where some have called Hartley "the heir to the all-night diner".

Image
#23 - ORAL ROUNDTREE | Midfielder | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @roundtree25 | Club: United Hampton Cities
Style of Play: Hybrid | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Professional
So imagine going through life with the name "Oral." Poor Oral's parents had nine months and they came up with Oral. His classmates had a field day with that name. That was, until he started playing football. There's a story that goes around Michael Bell High in North Hampton about how a student in a physical education class had spent the entire day getting on Oral's case about his name, with all of THOSE jokes. Once they got onto the soccer pitch, that student stopped making those jokes. Oral had nutmegged him and made him look like a complete idiot. And that's what he does. He doesn't let the jokes bother him, he just gets the job done and turns the jokers into the jokes like he's always done. He scored five goals for UHC last year and those goals came in some real clutch times, helping the team to fourth place in the Hapiloppian League standings last year.

Image
#24 - PARKER MATHIS | Midfielder | Age: 19 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @HAPFirstDude | Club: West River FC
Style of Play: Defensive | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Heavy | Attitude: Intense
The youngest member of Team Hapilopper could very well be its most controversial. Parker Mathis, you see, is the son of William Mathis, the President of Hapilopper. And oh boy, the claims of "nepotism" and "favoritism" rang out like nothing else. But those that cried the loudest were those that knew the least. While Mathis won't shy away from who his father is, he doesn't play like he was entitled to anything. He's a vicious player that could serve as either a defenseman or a midfielder, depending on where he's needed. And oh yeah, he'll get into card trouble, all right. Last year, surprisingly, in his rookie season, he led the Hapiloppian League in red cards with five, and also led the league in Presidential ass-thrashings, too. Rumor has it that William Mathis himself went down into the West River locker room after a couple of games and ripped his son a new one for playing like a complete douchebag. His teammates aren't talking.

Image
#30 - FABIAN TRELOAR | Defenseman | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @treloar | Club: Pinkerton City SC
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Not enough | Attitude: Friendly
So, just for one second, close your eyes and picture in your mind the first thing that comes through your mind when we say "Fabian Treloar." What did he look like? The kind of pretty male that appears on the front of those weird-ass romance novels they sell in supermarkets? That would be incorrect. This guy's got a dingy dark mullet, he's a little chubby, and he's far from the kind of person that ladies dream of. He reads comic books and streams video games. On the pitch, though, Fabian can stop an offensive from the middle, and when he does, he does it very efficently. He's not a cheap bastard about it, he's just efficent. If he gets a card, it's by total accident. Many suggest he has a bright future ahead, but it wouldn't hurt him to get a little more physical, a little dirtier, and quite frankly, there's no shame in getting a card or two. In Hapilopper, it's to be expected.

Image
#31 - QUINTIN MONTAGUE | Defenseman | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @q-mont18 | Club: Garvinson Trojans
Style of Play: Man-To-Man | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Moderate | Attitude: Professional
Here's a reader. Quintin Montague is one of the biggest readers in Hapiloppian sport. He'll read anything. He'll read an offensive effort. He'll read the Garvinson Picayune. He'll read the lips of a fan in the 17th row. He'll read all the latest popular novels released in Hapilopper. He'll try to read a midfielder's mind as they're racing down the pitch. And he'll read the playbooks ad nauseam. That's a good attitude to have, and it's a good trait. But what Montague doesn't have is that killer instinct to be a regular starter, at least, not yet. He's been psyched out by opposing players a little too much for Team Hapilopper's liking. Members of the coaching staff are working on this, though. How they're working on it, well, watch this space. It might involve Nathan Ellis and some drill sergeant tactics, which sounds a little frightening on its face.

Image
#32 - ASHLEY STANFORD | Defenseman | Age: 22 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: @stanford-the-kicker | Club: Border City United
Style of Play: Zone Defense | Speed: Fast | Physicality: Oh Hell Yeah | Attitude: Ruthless
The second woman to make it to a Hapilopper national football team, Ashley Stanford is not here to look pretty, nor is she here to make friends with anyone. She's here to kick some ass, and with Border City United last year, she did exactly that, famously breaking the collarbone of UHC striker Shelley Linwood with a cheap shot clothesline as he was on his way to bring a goal into the back of the net. And she didn't give two shits. When asked after the game if she had any remorse for breaking his collarbone, her response was simple: "I'm not paid to think about that. He shouldn't have come up to goal. My job is to stop him." With that kind of attitude, it's wondered if she'll take the Nate Ellis role after he retires from play, whenever that is.

Image
#33 - LEVI BATESON | Defenseman | Age: 20 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @levi_bateson | Club: West Hampton Sports Club
Style of Play: Man-To-Man | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Sufficient | Attitude: Relaxed
Known more for his prowess on the saxophone than his prowess on the pitch, Levi Bateson nevertheless gets by with his play for the West Hampton Sports Club, which, before you get any ideas, is more than enough to stop an offensive effort if need be. Some suggest that Bateson's style of play is a throwback to the pre-World Cup days, when Hapiloppian footballers would play a more relaxed style of football. That's not a compliment. It's removed from the hair-on-fire, balls-to-the-wall style of play that has developed since Hapilopper started playing international football. Either way, he's still good at it, good enough to make the national team. As for his saxophone prowess, it's magnificent. Bateson plays for a band that tours across the Hampton Cities, and his saxophone solos are among the most popular parts of their concerts.

Image
#60 - KENNY SHELLEY | Goalkeeper | Age: 21 | Kicks: Right | twii.tur: (none) | Club: FC Surrey
Style of Play: Roving Keeper | Speed: Medium | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Excitable
Kenny Shelley will be the first to tell you that he's not expecting much in the way of playing time. He's a servicable keeper for FC Surrey, but good enough to get an assignment on the national team. He's averaged around 97 minutes per goal allowed, which is good, but not great. Many suggest that his best days are well ahead of him, as with most of the Hapiloppian team. Could he be another Cooter Harris? It's hard to say. At least he has the persona down pat. Shelley drives a 1986 Major pick-up truck, a truck he's had since high school. He's carried everything from lumber to dirt to his girlfriend in the back of that truck, and it's likely he loves that truck more than life itself.

#90 - DUKE STAMP | Goalkeeper | Age: 20 | Kicks: Left | twii.tur: @stamperHAP | Club: Kingsland Warriors
Style of Play: Traditional | Speed: Slow | Physicality: Low | Attitude: Moron
By now, you've seen the videos by now, or at least, we hope you've seen the videos. Duke Stamp decided one day to try out the concept of automotive buoyancy. So he drove his car as fast as he could into the pool of one of his teammates. The car went right in the pool and proved the theory that automotive buoyancy, for the most part, is total bullshit. Worse, it was a $65,000 Preston Super Skychief that he had just bought off the dealership floor, a car that had 25 miles on it. So Duke Stamp wound up ruining a brand new, very nice car just to try out this idiotic theory that cars can float. On the pitch, Stamp is an efficient goalkeeper, averaging 125 minutes per goal allowed, but he's relegated to keeper no. 3 because of his idiotic behavior.

After Britonisea's hiatus of five editions at the World Cup, the nation is back as an unranked nation hoping to find its place in the international football community. The official roster of the nation is below...

Britonish History @ The World Cup

Britonisea has never qualified for the main World Cup, with the country failing on 10 different occasions over the past 20 editions. The country is hoping to change that as it works towards continued participation from now until the 100th Cup. You can find information about the past performances of Britonisea at the Cup below...

Placements in the World Cup Qualification

World Cup 69 - 7th/8 (14 matches: 1W, 5D, 8L - 8 points)
World Cup 70 - 5th/9 (16 matches, 8W, 2D, 6L, 26 points)
World Cup 72 - 8th/8 (14 matches, 1W, 2D, 11L, 5 points)
World Cup 73 - 4th/7 (12 matches, 4W, 4D, 4L, 16 points)
World Cup 74 - 6th/7 (12 matches, 1W, 3D, 8L, 6 points)
World Cup 75 - 6th/7 (12 matches, 3W, 2D, 7L, 11 points)
World Cup 76 - 5th/7 (12 mathes, 3W, 3D, 6L, 12 points)
World Cup 79 - 9th/10 (18 matches, 2W, 2D, 14L, 8 points)
World Cup 81 - 8th/10 (18 matches, 2W, 1D, 15L, 7 points)
World Cup 83 - 6th/7 (12 matches, 2W, 2D, 8L, 8 points)
World Cup 89 - Who knows?

I think it's clear to say that Britonisea hasn't done very well at the World Cup in the past. Britonisea has participated in eleven World Cups between its debut at the 69th edition and now. With it being 20 editions since the nation first participated at the World Cup, organisers of the Brityuniksleague - a pan-ABEN football organisation who is also in charge of the Britonish Football Association - or whatever it's called in Britonish - decided to make a concerted effort to return to the Cup after not participating in five editions. Hopes of Britonisea doing well in the World Cup were there at the 70th World Cup as the nation slowly started to rise up the rankings. At the 70th World Cup, Britonisea bagged 26 points after winning eight (or half) of the matches they played in the qualifiers. It was a very close call in the end with 26 points not being good enough with the country being shoved down to 5th place, shelving the hopes and dreams of Britons who had begged the Britonish Football Association for the nation's appearance at the Cup. After the non-quals at the 70th World Cup, the position of the Britonish Football Association on the World Cup have been rather mixed, with some members of the Association believing that the country should continue to try to do well while others believed that it was a complete waste of money. After some back and forth, it was decided that Britonisea would not participate in the 71st World Cup. The withdrawal wasn't for long, however, with Britonisea returning to international football only an edition later where the country had a streak of five World Cups - none of which were particularly fruitful for the country - except the 73rd World Cup.

The 73rd World Cup (alongside the 70th World Cup also) was seen as a major turning point for Britonish football as the country seemed to be very interested in making it through to the qualifiers stage but this may have been because of the Doportedas Olympic Stadium - which is located in the Olympic Park in the country (the same site which hosted the UCR Games all those many years ago and nothing necessarily important since) - was set ablaze. Matchday 1 saw Britonisea come head to head with The Sarian at the Doportedas Olympic Stadium with 70,000 excitable fans packing into the bowl for, what was expected to be, a crushing defeat by the then ranked 26th team - which was the highest in the group. Britonisea's football team, ranked 159th, with their motto "The Impossible is Possible" had a strong defense and with the results ending in 0-0, to the Britons, that must've felt like a win. Up next Britonisea played Dreampl*net, who suffered a huge defeat 2-6 which thrust Britonisea into the lead of the group. Britonisea's high placing in the group was short-lived when, on Day 4, Kernansquillec swatted away the upstart Brits, leaving them to slowly (and painfully) sink further away from World Cup qualification. With Britonish fans disappointed at their fall from 1st to 5th in the group, it was time for the country to play Dre@mplanet once again - with the Britons sure that they could thrash their rivals in the same way they did at the international song competitions. And they did - well, only just. The stadium was set ablaze after rowdy, childish and quite frankly, rather racist fans (which was only perpetuated by the fact one of the members on the opposing team was accused of racism towards the Britons and so they must've thought it was okay) started a war in the capital city which lead to hundreds injured and 13 lives lost. Doportedas had to be renovated as part of the stadium collapsed due to the fire and whilst Britons weren't at fault, some argued that the emergency services didn't react fast enough to the event. Britonisea only went on to win one more match at this event and with Doportedas' Olympic stadium out of action for (what was predicted to be) years, interest and funding for the Britonish football team had dwindled until eventually, the country withdrew from the Cup after the 76th edition.

In each of Britonisea's participation at the event since the 79th World Cup ending in only two wins in each of the qualifications, The Football Association thought that it was time that the country said goodbye to international football...until today! Ahead of the twentieth anniversary of Britonisea's first participation, the country is looking to do well and are hoping that the country can do particularly well to put it in good stead to maybe (fingers crossed) qualify before the 100th World Cup. The motto, "The Impossible is Possible" is still very much alive and Britonisea will be sending some of its major stars from the IBACL and the Olympic Games (with young Brityuniksleague players surprisingly qualifying from the round-robin stage to the knock-outs as part of the ABEN Union) to the 89th World Cup in the bid that the nation can start to repair it's rather tainted history with international football.

The Squad & Starting XI

Image

Image

The sponsors and designers of the Britonish Association Football team for the 89th World Cup is Noughts & Crosses (stylised XO) Sportswear who are a relatively popular sports retailer within the ABEN Union but are primarily based in Britonisea. XO was chosen as they have never sponsored an international team, as organisers preferred the likes of ELEGAMMENT (a much more popular retailer) or other sports companies. XO is relatively new, only establishing 10 years ago, but has made itself comfy on the Doportedas Stock Exchange. Throughout the World Cup qualifiers, XO will be selling official Britonish World Cup merchandise in the hope that people will get themselves excited for the country's attempt at doing better than it has done in the past. XO's brand name will be on the uniforms of each of the players as you can see above. Both kits are designed in the Britonish colours - red and orange (which are on the cuffs and collar) and blue and white (which makes the main part of the shirt in a gradient). When travelling to other countries, everything is (just) switched, just so that the Britons are wearing something familiar but different enough so people know they aren't playing at home. In this example, we are using the shirt of Jacob Thompson who is the main striker and captain of the Squad after his relatively successful time as the captain of the ABEN Union at the Olympic Games (Football Roster is here). Each shirt has a purple rounded triangle with the Britonish Alice Lily (the national flower) in the colours of the Britonish flag inside the triangle.

Tourist Guide: Welcome to Britonisea

Map of Britonisea (including cities)

For the eleventh time in its history, Britonisea will be welcoming fans from all over the world for its World Cup Qualifiers matches and we're happy to welcome you to our country. Whilst Britonisea may not be the nation international football fans think of when they hear the region Novapax, we promise that you won't be disappointed when you touch down at one of our state-of-the-art airports where both the teams and fans alike will experience the nation's hospitality. Britonisea has hosted many international events, including the IBA Football Champions League where half of the top 32 teams in the IBA played in Britonisea - including the Semi-Finals and Finals. The country has also hosted 13 international music competitions - the most of any country in the Multiverse - and so is used to sudden increases of international fans from everywhere.

Football has a moderate following in the country, but international football teams won't have to worry about stadiums not appearing full as Britons love a good day out and so will sign up for anything, even if they're not huge fans of what they're watching. The Britons won't be rowdy and while they may celebrate rambunctiously if they win or are in the lead - they don't mean it in a rude way (they've just hardly experienced sporting success before!). Britons will be nice and cordial to international fans and you'd be able to flag a Briton down for help or directions as they'd be happy to help. Depending on where you go, they may be able to help you in multiple languages. While we're not expecting any international fans to understand Britonish, most people who speak that language are in the west of the country. If you speak French, you're most likely to be fine in the East (near Telm, Boschke and Eaux City). Other languages that will pop up in Britonisea are Spanish, Scotatrovan and Arabic (due to there being large immigrants or descendants from countries that speak those languages) but you may also be able to get help in Korean with the language being one of the most taught in the country due to the nation's proximity to one of it's closest allies, the Taeseon Republic. All in all, if you can speak English - just go with that!

Britonisea will be playing in Group 15 of the World Cup. The nation will host four matches during the first leg and six matches during the second leg. Below is a list of the stadiums that will be used against each of our rivals...

National Anthem--"Hear Our Voices Commonwealth"

Nickname--since the end of the 1960's the National Team has been known as "The Bees", a period when the team's uniforms consisted of alternating black and gold hoops.
Previous to that time and subsequently through periods in the 1980's and 90's, the team was usually referred to by the county's national animal, the Elks; the women's National Team were always 'Lady Elks' until the advent of mixed gender play, which was revived during the Jenna Raven Cup and there are still numerous mentions of Elks in the supporters song “We are the Gold & Black”, which currently has close to 175 stanzas.

Colors--Black & Gold (while they are just 2 of the 5 main colors on the flag of Baker Park--Blue, Red and White are the others--black & gold have been closely associated in the nation's consciousness as representative of the country since its founding.)

The Intro
The Commonwealth of Baker Park National Team regained their spot in the Top 10 of the KPB Rankings following a Quarterfinal run at World Cup 88 in Chromatika, and subsequent appearances in the last eight at the Jenna Raven/Women's World Cup and AOCAF 64 have brought a host of new faces to the potential player pool for Manager Jennifer Prescott; in fact, this will be youngest NT pool ever, as only three players have reached or passed their 30th birthday.

Make no mistake however, because there are also more 40+ capped veterans (27) than at any point in the 120 year history of the FAC. It will be up to them to carry on the legacy of all who have worn the shirt before them in the mixed-gender iteration of the National Team, taking care of a piece of business that is not taken for granted or spoken of in whimsical tones.

This will be the tenth time that Baker Park have entered the NSWC qualification tournament, and they will look to extend the record they hold alone--9 attempts, 9 advancements--in an exclusive club of nations who qualified for the Finals on their maiden attempt.
Will this be the tournament that sees another member join the handful of teams that have accomplished the feat? Will this be the end of the perfect streak for the Commonwealth?

The Players
a note about the information contained--the first senior NT appearance is listed along with the circumstances; XI means they debuted in the starting lineup, sub means they came off the bench, the number in (parentheses) is the match number corresponding to the NS Era, e.g., Norcambria was Baker Park's first ever opponent in the Baptism of Fire so obviously that is match #1. A typical cycle runs about 40-50 matches in this age of the National Team.

The Venues
Home fixtures will played at a number of stadia in the Commonwealth, but expect about half to be at the BBP National Stadium in Belle Haven
Image
Built ahead of the World Cup 84 Finals, co hosted by Baker Park with Cassadaigua, it has a capacity of over 76,000; it can also be configured to use the lowest level only, or with the second deck. The seats are painted in the national colors--blue, red, gold & black.
Details about a few other probable home match locations are below.

President's Park, Shirley (26,145)
Image
President's Park has hosted more NT fixtures (43) than other stadium, so it will certainly be on the list; the second oldest stadium in the nation, it is used almost year round as the home of Shirley Metros FC & Metros Ladies FC, the University of St Leon, Shirley Pioneers baseball, Shirley Dragon pro football and more.
Newport City Stadium, Newport (32,000)
Image
Located at the mouth of the Belle Haven River, home of the Naval Service of the Commonwealth and Baker Park's first permanent settlement, Newport equals Belle Haven, Endborough and Oceana in cosmopolitan flair as befits a major seaport city. The stadium underwent an expansion for WC84 to reach it's current seating capacity.

State Fairgrounds Stadium, Springfield (45,000)
Image
It would be hard to call Springfield "cosmopolitan", in fact the locals would probably be alarmed of someone thought it was. The nation's agriculture capital is all about the buying, selling and processing of food. The Baker Park State Fair is the de facto national Agriculture Show, as competitors from all seven states come for the 18 day extravaganza in September. The Stadium has become a regular in the NT rotation, as it too was expanded for the World Cup.

Sajnuran National Football Team

Stadiums

National Stadium

The National Stadium is the largest stadium in Sajnur, with a capacity of 102,000 people. Located in the capital city of Javoser, home to more than 12.5 million people, it is the primary arena for big sporting events in the country, hosting a semi-final and most finals of Sajnur’s FA Cup, and several finals of the Tarvolan League, tarvolan being a code of football indigenous to Sajnur and traditionally Sajnur’s biggest sport. It has also hosted the biggest of Sajnur’s concerts and the inaugurations of two Presidents.

Built in 1952 and renovated in 2015, the stadium has a retractable roof, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and affordable food and drink options to provide a comfortable experience for all fans while the stadium has been designed to allow fans to produce a raucous atmosphere befitting of large sporting events. The stadium is easily accessible by public transport, and has thousands of parking spaces for those who choose to arrive in their own vehicles.

Niurka Stadium

Home of FK Khadur, arguably Sajnur’s biggest football club, Niurka Stadium is located in the Khadur area of Ciarkhan, a bustling metropolis of 4.6 million people that serves as Laghia’s state capital. Laghia was a territory acquired by Sajnur in a war stretching from 1982 to 1996, and it is the Laghian people that popularised football in Sajnur. As a result, the province has eight of Sajnur’s 32 professional football clubs despite having only 1/8 of the country’s population, and Niurka Stadium hosts the other semi-final and some finals of Sajnur’s FA Cup.

The stadium, built in 2006, was named after Nicolae Niurka, who was a Laghian partisan that served as a general against Laghia’s pre-1982 rulers and was killed in combat in 1995, aged just 46. With a capacity of 73,000, it is the largest stadium used by a team in the Sajnuran Premier League. Like the National Stadium, it has a retractable roof, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of affordable food and drink options, with many food options being traditional to Laghia. The stadium is easily accessible by public transport, but parking space may be limited on particularly busy days.

Queen Haqla Stadium

Queen Haqla Stadium is a 60,000 seat stadium near the centre of Roskjepa, the capital of Delta state and, with 6.7 million people, the second largest in Sajnur. Home to Rivers FC, the stadium is a regular venue for intimidating displays from Rivers fans, with flares, aggressive chanting, and large banners being a common sight, especially in derbies between Rivers and cross-town rivals Stormers FC.

The stadium was built in 1960 and renovated in 2016, and has all the amenities of the National and Niurka stadiums, while being a prominent sight on the Jagaroi River. As such, along with bus and train, the stadium is also accessible by the Jagaroi River’s ferry. However, like in Ciarkhan, access by car may be difficult. Queen Haqla, for whom the stadium is named, reigned over Sajnur from 681 to her death in 727.

Siyaka Island Stadium

Siyaka Island Stadium is the largest stadium in the Asulian states, with 66,000 people able to fit within its confines. Located in the outskirts of Tawqush, a city of about 5.4 million serving as the capital of Archipelago state, the stadium is the home of FC Mazigh, the foremost football club in the Asulian states. Fans on Siyaka Island often bring instruments to matches, ranging from the arghul to large drums to even accordions, posing both as support to those they like and a distraction for those who they wish to lose.

The stadium is the newest of the four national stadiums, being built in 2017 on what was the Mujar port before it was bombed by the Sajnuran navy during a war that stretched from 1990-2003. The stadium is easily accessible by both car and public transport, and with the New Mujar port being built as part of the stadium development, coastal and island hopping ferries can also stop right outside the stadium.

SYLESTONE NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

WORLD CUP 89

TECHNICAL

Style Modifier: -5

Nickname: The Sentients
Formation: 4-5-1 (4-1-3-1-1)

STAFF

Manager: Ronny Tollemache Image (M - Age 50)
Following a second successive elimination in the group stage of the Cup of Harmony, the Toilet was finally sacked from Sylestone’s managerial role as the board went looking for someone to step up and take its place. In the end, Bollonischian manager Ronny Tollemache was accepted into the role, despite only being the manager of a low-level club, Cilaous SC in the Liga Dos, before making his way to the tropical Esportivan island. Yet, as the only applicant, he was accepted into the role as the Sentients’ manager as they try, for the fifth time running, to finally qualify for the World Cup proper. They’re at a disadvantage, only being a pot four side and ranked 65th in the world, but Tollemache will provide newfound hope for the side. His 4-1-3-1-1 formation, which can transfer to 4-1-2-1-2 when the going gets tough, is a new concept for the Sentients as they have worked with a five-strong defensive line for their entire timespan on the international front. Yet, if he can pull it off who knows how good the Sentients could end up being?

Coach: Toaster Image
Having coached the team ever since its debut against Pangurstan in the 72nd Baptism of Fire, the Toaster certainly knows the inner workings of the team and what really makes them tick. It pushes them hard, always trying to ensure they are as fit as possible while leaving the tactical ploys up to the manager. With this World Cup possibly being Sylestone’s best opportunity thus far for qualification, the Toaster will be pushing the squad harder than ever before to try to make it above that magical 30 point mark and up into the top three, if not higher. Can it finally bring a qualification to the Esportivans?

GOALKEEPERS

GK: Table 22 Fridge FC Image
GK: Saucepan 0 Kirkham Sentients Image

With the Sylestonean squad expanding to encompass 23 players, an extra goalkeeper has been selected for some experience to give the Brick Wall and to a lesser extent, the Table, a break. After much consideration, the Saucepan was given the nod over rivals such as the Cabinet, Aluminium Foil and the Oven and despite there being a chance the Sentient may not be able to get a game, it will still provide good experience. The Brick Wall will be starting in the vast majority of games, using its supreme height and width to its advantage to stop nigh on every shot that comes near it. The Table does not have this physical advantage and isn’t the most agile player ever, but its ability to fall onto its side and block the vast majority of ground shots makes it a very good goalkeeper to have on the bench. The Saucepan has this agility, but lacks a serious amount of size. Yet, it has acquired an ominous knack of precision when going in for a save and should not be a burden for the Sylestonean defence if it gets the nod ahead of both the Brick Wall and Table for a match.

DEFENDERS

Name Caps Club
LB: Ironing Board 210 Breakfast Bowl FC Image
LCB: Toilet 187 Starksville Coastal Image
RCB: Washing Machine 208 Fridge FC Image
RB: Dishwasher 202 Dishwasher Image

LB: Nokia 29 Kirkham Appliances Image
LCB: Sofa 203 Kirkham Sentients Image
RCB: Wok 0 Souraoi FT Image
RB: Drawer 182 Kirkham Sentients Image

Having traditionally favoured a lineup with five at the back, Ronny Tollemache’s entrance as the manager of the Sentients has meant that he would only use four at the back despite maintaining what he says is still a very defensive formation. As a result, the Sofa has given way and has been moved into the reserves, where it will be joined by the Drawer and the Nokia, two players with success on the international level, alongside the Wok of Souraoi FC in Squidroidia. The Ironing Board will continue to be an agile nuisance to the opposition wingers and will likely receive the most bookings throughout qualification, while upcoming stars such as the Toilet and Washing Machine will guard the central defence with their mischievous plays. The Dishwasher will provide the final piece of the defence, filling the right-back role with its impeccable strength and power, able to clear the ball with extreme precision and ferocity time and time again.

Considering the Sentients are one of the most defensive-minded sides in the football multiverse, up there with the likes of Ko-oren, South Covello, and a couple of others, their defence will be playing as far back as possible. Yet, on occasion, they will push up if opposition forwards are struggling to penetrate that defence or they are behind with only little time to spare. For corner kicks they will also move up for, ready to slot home the ball that comes out of the box, with the same tactics being used for direct free kicks or spot kicks. Their main goal for each game will be to attempt to keep the final result to a shutout and while this may often be tricky, they certainly have the ability to do it for what could even end up being the majority of games.

MIDFIELDERS

Name Caps Club
CDM: Air Conditioner 0 Kirkham Appliances Image
LM: Stove 197 Kitchen Sink FC Image
CM: Bar Stool 210 Kirkham Sentients Image
RM: Fridge (c) 211 Fridge FC Image
CAM: Mixer 210 Swisston City FC Image

CDM: Television 0 Kirkham Appliances Image
LM: Kitchen Sink 0 Breakfast Bowl FC Image
CM: Knife 0 Fridge FC Image
RM: Spiderwebs 156 Breakfast Bowl FC Image
CAM: Heater 0 Kirkham Appliances Image

Similar to their defence, the Sentients’ midfield is a key part of their ability to set balls up for the lone forward, no matter who Tollemache decides it shall be. With five individuals all able to meld into one collective, it will be tough for any opposition to break through as they seek to play possession football, especially effective considering four of them have been playing together since Sylestone’s inaugural game in the 72nd Baptism of Fire. The Air Conditioner, following a series of good seasons as a centre midfielder for Kirkham Appliances, has earned its maiden call-up as the Sentients’ starting defensive midfielder, ahead of fellow Appliance debutant, the Television. The rest of the starting lineup is made up of familiar faces… erm, players, with the Stove, Bar Stool and captain Fridge making up the core of the midfield, having played roughly 600 national games between them. With the Spiderwebs as a reserve right midfielder for the Fridge, the right wing will always face a significant threat no matter who is playing there. Finally, the Mixer will be playing just its second tournament in an attacking midfielder role, having played its first game there against Vdara in the 80th Cup of Harmony, where it was understandably scratchy before getting more used to the role by the end of the tournament. Can it continue to improve here?

The defensive midfielder and centre midfielder will typically be looking around for the pass to set up a winger or forward, while the Stove, Fridge and reserves will be looking to see whether they can make a good run up the wing time and time again as well as pushing back into the defence when the need arises. The Mixer will be playing up as much as possible, perhaps even nudging into the support striker role, but can also drop back when the need is urgent. Typically, though, it will be helping out whoever is playing in the forward role and if Sylestone are desperately behind, can move up to help create further scoring opportunities as they transition to a 4-4-2 formation.

FORWARDS

Name Caps Club
CF: Tumble Dryer 208 Kirkham Sentients Image

CF: AC Vent 124 Swisston City FC Image

Finally, there is the lone forward. Naturally, the Tumble Dryer is going to be starting in most of the Sentients’ matches, but the AC Vent is certainly not a bad player to have on the bench as a backup. The former is well known for its brilliant shooting abilities, flinging towards goal at a very fast pace, and often with great accuracy. It is also a brilliant taker of penalties but can often get wound up on a bad day, while the AC Vent is far calmer and collected.

Typically, whoever is playing the forward role is likely to stay as far up as possible to put continuous pressure on the opposition defence. Often, they will push the offside trap, but that’s a risk that Tollemache has accepted he may have to take, but is something both forwards are naturals at avoiding. They each have strong ball skills, but issues may come in their passing abilities if a defence eventually overwhelms them.

INDIVIDUAL PLAYER BIOGRAPHIES

* As the dirty tactics are rather godmod-y, I will only use them at your explicit permission and most of them would garner at least a booking of some sort, if not a red card.

Goalkeepers:

Brick Wall
About: Is a Brick Wall with the dimensions of two metres in height by three metres in length, and about ten centimetres thick. Lacks agility, but uses its size to its advantage.
Dirty Tactics: Ramming into the occasional striker who dribbles the ball towards him instead of just shooting.

Table
About: Like the Brick Wall, the Table lacks agility. However, to counter this, it stands on its side and is somehow quite good at bouncing. Again, it uses its size to its advantage, being about a metre in height and nearly five metres long when on its side.
Dirty Tactics: What’s scarier than watching a literal dinner table running towards you at a rate of knots?

Saucepan
About: The Saucepan is slightly larger than your average saucepan, with a radius of roughly 25 centimetres protruded by a handle of roughly the same length. It is quite small for a goalkeeper but makes up for it with impeccable precision and accuracy, even when the handle must be used.
Dirty Tactics: Hitting an annoying forward over the head on corner kicks.

Defenders:

Ironing Board
About: The Ironing Board is very good at using its “legs” to cut down the majority of forwards and wingers looking to break past it on the right wing. A very good tackler and has supreme agility but is frequently booked for not being able to control those legs it has.
Dirty Tactics: Break dancing in front of an opposition forward to waste time.

Toilet
About: A fan favourite for obvious reasons, the Toilet has played nearly as many games as the best players on the Sentients’ side despite only being a reserve. It is quite a stout defender, with strong passing abilities and good pace, although it could do with a bit more agility.
Dirty Tactics: Spraying poop everywhere

Washing Machine
About: Essentially the backbone of the defence, the Washing Machine’s size makes it one of the best players on the field, even on a bad day. While it may lack agility and pace, having a massive washing machine on the field isn’t the most promising sign for any forward, anywhere.
Dirty Tactics: Bogging the field with its ability to spew water everywhere.

Dishwasher
About: Like the Washing Machine, the Dishwasher is quite a large feature of the Sentients’ defensive line, being yet another large Sentient that lacks agility and pace, but has stamina. Tough to get past in the best of times, but unless you’re a snail you should not have to deal with it again if you do succeed.
Dirty Tactics: Bogging the field with its ability to spew water everywhere.

Nokia
About: Unlike many of the other Sentients in the team, the Nokia is not life-size, instead being roughly five feet tall and two in terms of width. And being a brick, it is really quite difficult to break past it as it looms ominously over you.
Dirty Tactics: Anything that comes with being a brick.

Sofa
About: The Sofa can feel slightly hard done by its move to the Sentients’ reserve lineup, considering it has started in nigh on every match the side has ever played. Yet, one had to go, and the Sofa was it. However, in the case a defender is substituted, it will be far from a burden to the back line if it is brought on. It has pace and while it may not be the most agile on the field, it can certainly kick a big ball.
Dirty Tactics: Apparently it can urge opposition players to want to sit down on it and relax. Dunno if it’s true, but it reckons it can.

Wok
About: The Wok may have never played a game for the Sylestonean national team before, but the agility and pace that some other defenders lack may come in handy, as this is one of the many attributes the Wok has. Can also take free kicks with supreme precision.
Dirty Tactics: Bongs opposition players on the head if it feels like it.

Drawer
About: A veteran, the Drawer has a calm head under pressure despite never really setting the planet alight with supreme skill. It’s a bit of a middling player, having no weak nor strong attributes although it has been a bit of poor form over recent years on the international scene.
Dirty Tactics: None (boo)

Midfielders:

Air Conditioner
About: After a series of good seasons with the Appliances, the Air Conditioner has earned its maiden national call-up, playing as a starting defensive midfielder with its inexplicable passing skills. While it isn’t great when it comes to dribbling, its stamina and agility will certainly come in handy.
Dirty Tactics: Blowing an opponent away like they’re a piece of cardboard.

Stove
About: Before now, the Stove was considered to be the weakest of Sylestone’s three midfielders, but a couple of good seasons with Letson Town in Ethane and now with Kitchen Sink FC has named it as one of Sylestone’s best. Has no necessarily weak attributes, but is somehow extremely quick despite its size and is a good crosser and dribbler of the ball.
Dirty Tactics: Can heat itself up and make everything around it extremely hot and possibly even fiery. Maybe even the ball, too…

Bar Stool
About: The Bar Stool is well-renowned for being a mischievous character and is arguably the best player on the side, undoubtedly the best centre-midfielder Sylestone has ever seen, with a brilliant eye for passing and dribbling. It also has pace, stamina and agility as well as a good finishing touch, particularly on corners.
Dirty Tactics: Can stand on top of fellow Sentients to get a height advantage over everyone else on the field.

Fridge
About: The captain of the side, the Fridge has a cool, icy head that all starting midfielders, save the Stove, possess. Like the Bar Stool, it possesses all the attributes of a typical midfielder, as well as the ability to cross balls into the box from the right wing when the Sentients are on the attack. Can it lead Sylestone to their first-ever qualification?
Dirty Tactics: Puts the ball inside itself and runs headlong for goal.

Mixer
About: Another one of Sylestone’s best players, the Mixer is moving out of its traditional forward role to play as an attacking midfielder for this qualification cycle, still a relatively new experience for it. It has astonishing dribbling skills, easily the best in the team, as well as good stamina and pace. However, it lacks some passing ability and kind of sucks at finishing, especially over recent years.[/u]
Dirty Tactics: Spins round and round in a circle to confuse an opponent.

Television
About: It was a risky move to place a typical centre-back in this role, but the Television deserves it nonetheless after a couple of good seasons in that role and occasionally pushing up into the midfield area. When it gets a game, it may be slightly rusty having never played in this sort of position before, but it is a good all round player and has huge potential.
Dirty Tactics: Turns on a live stream of the game being played to confuse opponents.

Kitchen Sink
About: An underrated player, the Kitchen Sink throws its best at every game possible, always doing what is best for the team. It doesn’t score a heap of goals, but is a brilliant passer and crosser and has lots of stamina.
Dirty Tactics: Randomly falls on top of you when you’re about to score.

Knife
About: Once a part of the fork, spoon and knife trio, the Knife has shone above everyone else over recent years and somehow found itself in the squad for Sylestone’s fifth attempt at a World Cup. Playing behind the Bar Stool, it may not get many games but when it does, its razor-sharp awareness and eye for the game will be a handful.
Dirty Tactics: You don’t even want to know.

Spiderwebs
About: Another veteran that will be on the bench for the majority of the time, especially against top teams, Spiderwebs has been in and out of the first team for quite a while now, playing most games as a substitute. Its main attribute is its relentless pressure and despite being slow and relatively un-agile, has a good pass and is a good dribbler and finisher when the time is ripe.
Dirty Tactics: Sticks itself onto an opponents’ leg and annoys the hell out of them.

Heater
About: The final member of the midfield will be the Heater, playing as Kirkham Appliances’ lone forward for a few seasons now. It shall be interesting to see how it transitions to playing as an attacking midfielder, with a strong finish and good ball skills helping assert itself in that position behind the Mixer.
Dirty Tactics: Can heat itself up and make everything around it extremely hot and possibly even fiery.

Forwards:

Tumble Dryer
About: As Sylestone’s lone starting forward, a lot of weight is upon the Tumble Dryer to perform in nigh on every match, with its amazing ability to fling the ball towards goal at blinding speed making it the Sentients’ primary goal scorer. It’s also a fairly good passer and the shots can sometimes be inaccurate, but when they’re accurate they go in more often than not.
Dirty Tactics: Can pull a Fridge and shut the lid on the ball before running towards goal.

AC Vent:
About: The final member of Sylestone’s lineup, the AC Vent is a renowned goal scorer, having once topped the Toilet League with 18 goals in a season for the club now known as Kitchen Sink FC. It has pace, stamina and while it can improve on passing and dribbling, is one of the nation’s best finishers.
Dirty Tactics: Release a random whoosh of air to distract an opponent.
