World Baseball Classic 52 Everything Thread

Postby Chromatika » Wed Aug 18, 2021 9:42 pm

The Regional Transit Authority of Banija and the Chromatik Sporting Committee are Proud to Present the 52nd Edition of the World Baseball Classic!

The format:
The group stage will be played in ten groups of 6, playing a double-round robin with three games for every cut-off (for 30 games total). This will give us ten total group stage cutoffs, with each of those being a series of three games. The top three teams from each group and the best two 4th-placed teams advance to the playoffs. These will be held in Chromatika in a single elimination bracket, consisting of best-of-five series, except for the final, which will be best-of-seven, as always. This bracket will be seeded, with no reseeding in between rounds. Teams that played against each other in the group stage will only be able to play against each other starting with the second knock-out round.

Tiebreakers:
The tiebreakers for both group stage advancement and playoff seeding will be, in this order: Group Stage placement (only for Playoff seeding), wins, H2H results, H2H run differential, overall run differential, RP Bonus (IC coin flip), OOC coin flip. If a tie between multiple teams must be broken and one team wins the tiebreaker at any stage, while the remaining teams are still tied, the tiebreakers start at the top of the list again to break the tie between the remaining teams.

RP Information:
To get started, you probably want to post a roster to tell others about your team. A roster can be a simple list of players and a home ground, but you can make it as detailed as you want to. Here are some examples from the last World Baseball Classic:
Basic roster
Detailed roster
Very detailed roster
Extremely detailed roster

Your roster should also include a Roleplay Permissions Box to tell others what they’re allowed to do when competing against you. A typical one looks like this:
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my runscorers: Yes/No
Choose my lineup: Yes/No
Follow my pitching rotation: Yes/No
Godmod scoring events: Yes/No
RP injuries to my players: Yes/No
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes/No
Eject my players: Yes/No
Godmod other events: Yes/No
Use DH at home: Yes/No

Here's a short description of all these permissions:
Choose Runscorers: This allows your opponent to look at your roster and decide which players scored the runs in the game. Almost everyone grants this because it's hard to RP fully without it.
Choose Lineup: This allows your opponent to choose the order that your players bat in. If you already have a specific lineup specified in your roster, your opponent will probably use that, but it doesn't hurt to specify here.
Follow Pitching Rotation: If you have a pitching rotation on your roster, this allows your opponent to follow the rotation and assume which of your pitchers started in which games. This basically allows your opponent to specify your pitcher without having to ask you first.
Godmod Scoring Events: This allows your opponent to make unrealistic things happen leading to scores. These can range from statistically improbable stuff, like 5 straight batters hitting a homerun, or straight up impossible, like a dragon swooping into the stadium and stealing the ball so the batter can score. If you are strictly realist with your RP, you should say "No" to this permission.
RP Injuries: This lets your opponent RP realistic injuries to your players without having to consult you first. If you don't want that, you could also specify that they can as long as they ask you first.
Godmod Injuries: This is the same as above except the injuries could be more unrealistic, like career ending injuries or deaths.
Eject Players: This allows your opponent to eject your players in their RP if the situation arises.
Godmod Events: Same as the other godmod permissions, except this covers any other events that don't involve scoring or injuries.
Use DH at Home: The Designated Hitter is a unique position in baseball. This permission tells your opponent whether or not your team uses a DH normally (the home team always decides whether or not a designated hitter is used in the game based on their preference).

Once you have your roster posted, you're free to RP about whatever you want! Most people like to RP about how their teams perform, giving match reports every day or so about the games that were recently scorinated. You don't have to do this, but it's a good starting point. Some players have posted freeform stories unrelated to the tournament, if that's more your style, or given news about other events in their nations not necessarily relating to sports or the exact games in this tournament. In any case, you can RP about whatever you want! Just be sure if you write RPs including other nation's teams that you check their roster and RP Permissions. Also if your opponent already RP'd a game with your team's participation, please do not contradict them. If you need any more help, feel free to contact me or any other players here. I suggest you join the NS Sports Discord server, as many NS Sports people hang around there quite often.

Welcome to Chromatika

Overview: Chromatika is a nation composing of a group of islands located in the far northeast of Anaia. There is the main island of Chromatik Island itself, Urrhed Island to the southwest, Myana Island to the northwest, and the Wilderness Preserve of Dorri Island to the northeast.

History: The tale of Chromatik history is one filled with mystery, wonder, tragedy, and determination to make something that is better.

Chromatika one day popped into existence by mysterious forces that have since been identified as a group of extraplanar angels known as The Enlightened Ones. It's still unclear where the populace came from. The Chromatik Party held sway over the land, implementing its seven-color caste system, until the Rainbow Revolution happened, led by the Chromatik National Team in World Cup 75. This resulted in the first Manager of Chromatika - Franscesca Larriet-Cortes - being martyred.

A group of revolutionaries called the Shadow Writers were able to gather elements of the Chromatik Army, Air Force, and Navy to overthrow the Chromatik Party. Alina Krasnikova, one of the leaders of this movement, was the first Premier. Chromatika then ran into another hiccup when the time of the first democratic election came, with the Checkers Party, formed by a lot of the remnants of the Chromatik Party, tried to take control of the election. Aided by one of the Enlightened Ones, the Rainbow Party was able to, with help with their Atlantian Oceanian neighbors, stop the forces behind the Checkers Party and ensure a safe election.

Cultural Notes: While visiting Chromatika, please observe the following:

Transportation: Chromatik highways aren't very wide - two lanes per side at most. There is a very expansive railroad system that was originally used for troop movement, but is has been refitted to serve the everyday citizen. A subway system and a bus system in the bigger cities have also been established. Franscesca Larriet-Cortes International Airport is also not very big, only serving regional flights. For the tournament, the nation will be accepting team planes to land, but it'd be best if you flew to Quebec City, Cathair, Jhanna, or Villeneuve first. Ferries run from the Islands of Myana and Urrhed to and from the main island on the hour.

Ticketing and Visas: All visitors with a valid ticket will get a two-week visa that includes the match that they will be attending. For those attending multiple matches, they will be allowed to stay up to three days after the latest match or two weeks, whichever is longer. Tickets will be distributed as follows: 35% to each nation partaking in the match, 10% to Chromatiks, 15% to people from other nations, and the remaining 5% to be included with any of the tickets that aren’t sold by a predetermined point in time (usually 3 days before the match).

For matches featuring the Chromatik National Team, the distribution is a bit different: 45% for Chromatika, 30% for the visiting team, 20% to people from other nations, and the remaining 5% to be included with any of the tickets that aren’t sold by the predetermined point in time. Any press and dignitaries’ tickets will be counted among the residual 5%.

Also of note: ticket scalping (buying and selling tickets in front of the stadium to would-be buyers) is illegal in Chromatika. If you want to get a ticket in that fashion, make sure you are at least a mile away from the stadium, or don’t get caught. Otherwise, you will be fined and your ticket will be confiscated.

Laws: Chromatik legal code is a bit on the stricter side. The Chromatik Police, known as the CPD, are a well-trained, swift response group with a sizable presence. Chromatka does tend to side more on prevention than reaction. For an enjoyable stay, please note the following laws that visitors should be aware of:

  • The legal age of purchasing and possession of liquor and tobacco is 18. Stores are required to card anyone that appears to be less than 25 years of age.
  • The legal age of purchasing cannabis and other marijuana related products is also 18, and the limit of purchasing cannabis without a medical prescription is two grams per visit.
  • The importing of any alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, or other drugs is illegal without declaration. With declaration, up to a liter of alcohol, two cartons of cigarettes, and three grams of cannabis can be brought in.
  • Having multiple cars on a lane meant for one car is a finable offense, and the offending drivers’ licenses can be revoked.
  • Jaywalking is a serious offense in Chromatika. If cited three times, the offender can face serious fines and jail time should they continue to offend. Don’t do it!
  • As previously stated, ticket scalping is a finable offense that can lead to the ticket being confiscated.
  • Foreign visitors cannot bring firearms or any kind of weapons into the country without a specific license and accompanying paperwork. Even then, the weapon must be disassembled and ammunition shipped separatedly.
  • Foreign visitors are not allowed to bring more than 10,000 NSD or 25,000 NMS in cash into the country without proper declaration and accompanying paperwork.
  • For any other questions about legal matters, please call 99 1133-4455, the Chromatik Legal Hotline, or visit chromatiklaws.en.cr.

Currency: The currency of Chromatika is the National Mark. the exchange rate is at a respectful 2.5 Chromatik National Mark per 1 NS Dollar. Cost of living is rather low in Chromatika, as the government provides most things through taxes. A bottle of water costs 1 NMS, a good meal about 7, and a new car around 24,000. Please come to Chromatika with all your currency changed to NSD, as we don't provide exchange services from other currencies.

Climate: Chromatika is a rather cold nation, with the average temperature being 65 F in the summer and down to 11 F in the winter. The northern parts tend to be colder, while Myana and Urrhed tend to be a bit warmer. There is a temperate jungle in Eyrods where the temperature can spike up a bit more. It doesn't rain much, but snows a fair bit; winds don't gust that much, either. Climate-wise, it's a rather cold, boring, land. The World Baseball Classic will take place during the summer months, so expect temperatures to be in the mid to high sixties with mostly cloudy weather, except in the Myana/Urrhed Islands, where it can get to the lower seventies.

Language: The official languages of Chromatika are English, Korean, French, Mandarin, and Russian. The most commonly used one in English. Depending on where you visit, you can hear one of the other being spoken interchangeably. Most Chromatik peoples know at least three of the five languages, with one of them being English. Pockets of other language speakers do exist, but are more rare.

Cuisine: Chromatik food is usually spicy, filling, and served warm. There are a few cold dishes, but as the country itself is very cool/cold, Chromatiks prefer hot dishes. Korean, French, Chinese, and Eastern European cuisines are all available for consumption.

General Populace: The Chromatik people are respectful, polite, and usually keep to themselves. If you don't bug them, they won't bug you. That isn't to say that they aren't nice, as Chromatiks get by with most everyone. Just don't make fun of the past, don't make light the actions of the Chromatik Party, and enjoy your visit!
Host Cities and Venues

Image

The Matches of the World Baseball Classic will be held in three stages: Regionals, Super Regionals, and the Finals. Eight cities will host a Regional, two cities will host the Super Regional, and Chromia will host the Finals (Semifinals, Third Place Play Off, and Championship).

Regionals Stage - Color of Text Matches Color of District/Island on the Map

Region 1: Sanar, Rainbow District
The youngest brother of the three cities (Lanar, Sanar, and Pelar), Sanar is known for two things: First, it's where Z'ai'ai and Umbar’s lumber ends up to be turned into furniture. Second, it's where the headquarters of the Death Templars Law Firm is located. DTLF was the sponsor of the Chromatik League for many years and is one of the biggest companies in Chromatika, helping now only settle law cases but also fund a lot of philanthropic efforts to aid the poor. DTLF most notably recently sponsored the International Basketball Championships and was listed as one of the Official Sponsors of the Fifteenth Olympic Games in Electrum.

Venue: Vipers' Den (Cap.20,100)
Surface: Artificial Turf Dimensions (L/C/R): 350/420/375
One of the newer ballparks that were built after the creation of the Chromatik Baseball League, the Vipers' Den is an open-roofed stadium with a deep center field but a relatively shallow left field. The compactness of the stadium makes it feel like the fans are closer to the players than they are, and the curvature of the roof (before it leaves a hole) causes noise to reverberate back onto the field.

Schedule
R32.01: (01) Chromatika vs. (32) HUElavia
R32.02: (16) South Americanastan vs. (17) Bardney
R16.01: R32.01 Winner vs. R32.02 Winner

Region 2: Lanar, Rainbow District
Located at the Western side of the Rainbow district, Lanar was founded first, and is the older brother. Lanar is known for producing most of the nation's vehicles. Viper Motors (previously Imhar Automotive) is located there, being the only automotive maker of Chromatika. Being by the coast means a lot of foreign cars come through here as well. The Rangers have become a relatively decent side in the founding years of the CBL. It means a lot to have Lanar and Sanar be part of the cities hosting the WBC, as it is the first tournament being hosted under their new names, and it is here that the Regional Transportation Corporation of Banija will do a lot of work in helping Chromatik infrastructure get up to their feet.

Venue: Lanar Field (Cap. 31,200)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 390/410/370
Located near the dead center of the city, Lanar Field is two blocks from the City Hall, and in the heart of the city. The left wall is almost as high as the center wall, while the right one is a bit shorter; the field is made of natural grass. The seating is a bit more sprawled out than in other stadia. Of note is that due to the angle that the stadium is built, sun can play a huge factor on late-afternoon matches as it approaches sunset.

Schedule
R32.03: (08) Kriegiersien vs. (26) Hannasea
R32.04: (09) The Sherpa Empire vs. (24) Le Choix
R16.02: R32.03 Winner vs. R32.04 Winner

Region 3: Knetyohai, Rainbow District
Located in the southeast corner of the Rainbow District right by the Capital District, Knetyohai is known for being the home of the Chromatik Army. Pronounced "Kay-net-yo-hai", the town is a mid-sized place in which about 80% of the population is with the Chromatik Army. The Dynamo have been a boom-or-bust club in the first seasons of the CBL, but the sports-crazed fans are happy to have another club to support alongside the Knetyohai Warriors of the Chromatik Football League. Knetyohai makes it three cities of the Rainbow District to host a Regional, a considerable feat given the relative population of the District in comparison of the rest of the country (13.25% in the latest census).

Venue: Dynamo Dome (Cap. 28,200)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 350/375/330
A pitcher's worst nightmare, the Dynamo Dome is a rite of passage for any new pitcher entering the Chromatik Baseball League. First, it's entirely enclosed, with no sunlight coming through to potentially err batters. Then, the field is notoriously short, having the shortest distance to the center outfield of any stadium in Chromatika. This has resulted in the Dynamo's pitchers having a propensity to concede far more runs at home than on the road. Pitchers must learn how to pitch in this stadium or face the possibility of seeing way too many balls resulting in home runs. The Dynamo Dome is located in the outskirts of the city, resulting in "Dynamo Rush Hours" leading up to their matches where the city's traffic to the stadium can crawl to a halt. There are plans of expanding both the stadium and the field dimensions at this time, but for now, it'll remain one of the more eccentric stadiums and definitely an experience for international pitchers.

Schedule:
R32.05: (05) Kohnhead vs. (28) Vangaziland
R32.06: (12) Tikariot vs. (21) Nova Anglicana
R16.03: R32.05 Winner vs. R32.06 Winner

Region 4: Shantarr, Heartland District
Located in the northwest corner of Chromatika, Shantarr is the biggest fishing town that isn't on Urrhed Island, Myana Island, or the Coastal District. The area is famous for its shellfish, especially the crabs and the scallops in the water. The Scorpions are the city's pride and joy, as their football club is stuck being between the Orange and Yellow Leagues in recent seasons. Shantarr is a town that shows both the quirks of being a marine city at sea level while also being a part of the nation's breadbasket, the Heartland District. Visitors will be given the traditional maritime experience while also being reminded at every turn of the fact that not thirty miles away are endless fields of wheat and grain.

Venue: Scorpions' Sting (Cap. 40,300)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 380/410/370
The pride and joy of Shantarr's infrastructure, the Scorpions' Sting (so named due to their team) is located at the dead center of the city, with the City Hall only a block south. The area surrounding the stadium is dedicated to community health, with lots of football fields, gridiron fields, volleyball courts, and outdoor basketball courts that anybody can rent for free. Though it is one of the oldest stadiums in the country, being built by the Chromatik Party as an area to test the sport, it has a modern aesthetic, state-of-the-art technology, and a calming green color that can put people at ease.

Schedule:
R32.07: (04) Zwangzug vs. (30) Daehae
R32.08: (13) Cassadaigua vs. (20) Eshialand
R16.04: R32.07 Winner vs. R32.08 Winner

Region 5: Hanai, Capital District
To the north-center of the Capital District is Hanai, a middling town that hails itself as being the Baseball Capital of Chromatika. What gives them this moniker is just how crazy Hanaians are about the sport. The Heroes are the only team to win the CBL multiple times after they claimed the last title, and though the football clubs of Hanai and Hanai Breakers exist, they cannot compete with the popularity of the baseball club. Other than baseball, Hanai is known to be home to three of Chromatika's biggest pharmaceutical companies, ChromHealth, Rainbow Medical, and RXT Productions. The presence of these three companies mean that the population is well-educated, health-conscious, and rather professional.

Venue: Heroes' Walk (Cap. 18,200)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 370/400/380
Located a mere half kilometer from the Rainbow River, Heroes' Walk is a gorgeous, if rather small, stadium that truly shows Hanai's love of baseball. Built on a hill overlooking the river, the Walk is a stadium built 75% of recycled materials, being part of Chromatika's Green Initiative as headed by the city of Eyrods. The tight-knit atmosphere only adds to the intimacy and the intensity with which the city views its baseball, and the view from the Heroes' Club up top is definitely something to check out.

Schedule:
R32.09: (03) Banija vs. (29) Raspotochje
R32.10: (14) Bahia Roja vs. (19) Hapilopper
R16.05: R32.09 Winner vs. R32.10 Winner

Region 6: Felswyr, Mountain District
A town known for its ski resorts, a winter paradise. Felswyr is located about dead center of the Mountain District, right by Mt. Niai. It is known for tourism and for being the winter Capital of Chromatika. During the summer, snow still exists on the highest peaks of the nearby mountain, but the streets aren’t iced over as much. Felswyrites are kind, well-spirited people who are fiercely loyal to their small-town feel. Felswyr is a sporting powerhouse across multiple sports, and the Fire are no exception, being a mainstay in the CBL playoffs. Felswyr is a town that is very well suited to hosting international fans and athletes by now, leading to its inclusion on multiple hosting opportunities.

Venue: The Flaming Sphere (Cap. 22,100)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 365/420/390
Sitting at the highest altitude of all baseball stadiums in Chromatika (5400 ft or 1645m), the Flaming Sphere - so named due to a statue of a flaming sphere outside the stadium - is a standard baseball field that overlooks the valleys and hills leading up to Mt. Nial. Due to the altitude, the walls don't seem that far away; playing here is very much a different story than playing in the maritime cities of Myana, Urrheddiao, or Rhoni. The Flaming Sphere is part of a triplex of stadiums that are near each other, alongside the Frozen Stadium, the home of Felswyr's Football Team, and the Firehawks' Roost, the home of the Felswyr State University Firehawks.

Schedule:
R32.11: (06) South Newlandia vs. (27) Ko-oren
R32.12: (11) Quintessence of Dust vs. (22) Marigred
R16.06: R32.11 Winner vs. R32.12 Winner

Region 7: Larhai, Coastal District
The second of Chromatika's two baseball towns, the Legends aren't a very successful club, but are dearly loved. Larhai is the third largest city in the Coastal District, and home to many different groups of scientists studying the marine wildlife of Chromatika's northeastern seas. Larhai's representation in other sports is sparse; baseball is where they would like to leave their mark. That being said, it's still a city of over a hundred thousand people, and a beauty to observe.

Venue: Legends' Circle (Cap. 27,100)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 370/400/360
A "tall" stadium, Legends' Circle is compact and easy to look at. It is the defining part of Larhai's skyline and absolutely steals the show. A standard grass field stadium with walls that don't break the mold, the Circle is a model stadium of Chromatik baseball.

Schedule:
R32.13: (07) Super-Llamaland vs. (25) Delaclava
R32.14: (10) Sarzonia vs. (23) Milchama
R16.07: R32.13 Winner vs. R32.14 Winner

Region 8: Rhoni, Coastal District
Another town whose baseball team is doing better than in any other sport, the Rhonin gained their name due to the Japanese influence in the city. This is the most representation of the Coastal District in any tournament, especially considering that Lhor is not part of the field at all. Rhoni is otherwise known for being one of the most developed cities in the District.

Venue: Ronin's Rise (Cap. 31,570)
Surface: Artificial Turf Dimensions (L/C/R): 370/400/390
The stadium with the longest center field, The Ronin's Rise is on the highest part of the city. Located in the left center part of the city, it's a known place of gathering for the city.

Schedule:

Super Regionals Stage - Color of Text Matches Color of District/Island on the Map

Super Regional 1: Myana, Myana Island
Biggest port city in Chromatika. Second biggest city in Chromatika. Naval headquarters of Chromatika. Second biggest fishing town of Chromatika. Tourist attraction. What more is there to say? Myana is a sprawling city made of rolling hills next to the ocean. There are stretching suburbs, beaches as far as the eyes can see, and always a view of the ocean. Myaners are busy, hardworking people who know how to do the work to talk the talk.

Venue: Merfolk's Moor (Cap. 37,000)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 350/400/375
Located right by the water, the Merfolk's Moor is known for its spectacular views of the ocean. When the sun sets, attendees can take jaw-dropping photos. One of the jewels of Chromatik baseball.

Schedule:
QF.1: R16.01 Winner vs. R16.02 Winner
QF.2: R16.03 Winner vs. R16.04 Winner

Super Regional 2: Urrheddiao, Urrhed Island
Located at the southernmost point of Urrhed Island, Urrheddiao is the seafood capital of Chromatika. It is here that most of the fishing fleets call home, and most of the nation's fish is caught here.

Venue: Knights' Tale (Cap. 35,200)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 370/410/380
A blockish stadium that may look uninspiring from the outside, the Knights' Tale is a standard of modern architecture. Not as known as the United Center, it's a fan favorite among Urrheddites.

Schedule:
QF.3: R16.05 Winner vs. R16.06 Winner
QF.4: R16.07 Winner vs. R16.08 Winner

Finals Stage - Color of Text Matches Color of District/Island on the Map

Final Stage: Chromia, Capital District
Chromia (previously Chromatik City) is the Capital of Chromatika and the seat of its government. The city is located ten miles east of the border with the Heartland and Deprí Districts, and some of the suburbs of the city spill into the other two districts. It is in Chromia that the Rainbow Party now holds its power, and where Keri Wyse Aart serves as the Premier. It is also the site where most of the atrocities of the previous regime were committed, so it is a very historical and very conflicting site for most Chromatiks. If the country is to move forward, though, this is where the most change will have to stem from.

Venue: High Hill Field (Cap. 50,300)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 360/390/375
The newest stadium in Chromatika, High Hill Field is at the highest point in Chromia, and plays home to both the Comets and the Lancers. An open-feeling stadium with great natural lighting, it's a good place to play ball.

Schedule:
SF.1: QF.1 Winner vs. QF.2 Winner
SF.2: QF.3 Winner vs. QF.4 Winner

Venue: National Stadium (Cap. 44,320)
Surface: Natural Grass Dimensions (L/C/R): 370/410/380
The home field of the Chromatik Outliers, it has standard dimensions and all the natural feeling of a baseball stadium. It may not be as well known as the Capitalizt Dome, Anomaly Tower, or Chromatik City Field, but it has a bright future.

Schedule:
3P.1: SF.1 Loser vs. SF.2 Loser
F.1: SF.1 Winner vs. SF.2 Winner

Baseball in Le Choix: Despite being one of the longer tenured sports in the Theocracy, Baseball is the least popular sport. It's run for fifteen editions, with Les Croisés (The Crosses) winning the regular season four times and Les Vainquers (The Vanquishers) winning the title four times. Ten teams play in a eight-time round-robin schedule, with the top six teams making it to the playoffs, which are all Best of Seven. Le Choix prefers pitching duels, leading to proficient batters being at a premium.

SUPER-LLAMALAND TIGERS: WBC52 ROSTER

Does Heartball work? The jury’s still out on Isaac Oladipo’s controversial return to tradition, but the Tigers’ quarterfinal appearance two years ago certainly seems to suggest it helps. While Oladipo has clashed with sabermetrically-inclined scouts, executives, press, and even players, there’s no denying that he brought a swagger back to the Llamanean team not seen since the glory days of WBC42. Will the Tigers be able to build on this progress and prove Heartball with another deep run, or was the team’s WBC51 performance just a false dawn? There’s only one way to find out.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: Yes, within reason (justify any discrepancies from the below lineups if possible)
Follow my pitching rotation: Yes
Godmod scoring events: TG for approval
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but I determine the severity
Godmod injuries to my players: TG for approval
Eject my players: TG for approval (Llamaneans really don’t get ejected often)
Godmod other events: TG for approval
Use DH at home: Yes

Derrick ARMSTRONG, #1, 31, C-1B, S/R - Apple Valley Vipers
Emery WU, #12, 27, SS-2B-CF, S/S - Apple Valley Vipers
Miranda GRAY, #33, 28, 3B-LF-RF, R/R - Emerald City Greens
Summer HUANG, #6, 30, SS-2B-CF, S/S - New Llama Wizards
Gabriel ACOSTA, #10, 29, 1B-RF, L/L - Masmow Dragons (South Newlandia)

Noah SLATER, #16, 30, C-1B, S/L - City of Dinschria
Miles VILLENEUVE, #18, 24, SS/2B, S/R - South Bryant Chariots
Rachel ESTRADA, #34, 23, UTIL, S/R - Vargas City Lions
Alana GONZALEZ, #93, 28, 3B/1B, R/R - Peninsulara Kingfishers

Starting catcher Derrick Armstrong takes after his ex-manager on defense, but unfortunately, nowhere else. He has a cannon for an arm, a natural instinct for framing pitches, a supernatural ability to calm down struggling pitchers, and a .224 career batting average in the LBL. While his power makes him a threat at the bottom of the lineup, his free-swinging tendencies make him one that’s easily dealt with. Corner infielder (and occasionally outfielder) Gabriel Acosta, expected to start at first, is one of the few traditional sluggers on the team. And while he also struggles with plate discipline, he distinguished himself from other potential starters by his defensive prowess and versatility. Emery Wu is a patient, doubles-hitting middle infielder with a sweet stroke and good range, who's really found some pop over the past few years. Summer Huang covers an incredible amount of ground in the field, whether she’s at shortstop, second base, or center-field. With a bat in her hands, she’s an incredibly effective - if overly aggressive - contact-hitter with doubles power and strong baserunning instincts. The Wizards recently shelled out a record-setting contract to her in free agency, infuriating the small-market South Bryant Chariots. Finally, Miranda Gray at third is one of the most disciplined hitters on the team, and an underrated defender at the hot corner - although her bland personality and small-market team make her less of a hot commodity than the other starters. Maybe a recent move to Emerald City will turn things around for her?

Off the bench, Noah Slater offers a stronger, more patient bat at the expense of lacking Armstrong’s finesse behind the plate. Former Next Big Thing Miles Villeneuve, Summer Huang’s heir apparent at South Bryant, is an incredibly effective contact-hitter with enough plate discipline and power to get by, as well as a flashy - if not particularly effective - defender. Rachel Estrada is a jack-of-all-trades utilityman who, while not the greatest hitter who could’ve filled up the bench, is definitely the most versatile and the best teammate. Finally, Alana Gonzalez is a poor defender at third, which has seen her be forced into playing at first for her club, but her plate discipline and power make her a threat, and she's famously good at pinch-hitting.

Brünhild GUNNLAUGSON, #52, 24, LF/RF, L/L - City of Dinschria
Lily SCUTARO, #11, 30, CF, R/R - Victoriaville Venom (Cassadaigua)
Trevor MIKKELSON-YAO, #27, 24, RF/CF, L/L - Vargas City Lions

Will RENTERÍA, #19, 28, LF/CF/RF, S/R - Los-Juantos Kingfishers
Tyson LONG, #9, 27, LF/RF, S/R - Nandaozhou Sharks

Brünhild Gunnlaugson can absolutely rake, with absolutely once-in-a-generation power reminiscent of her uncle Isak, a WBC40 champion with the Tigers. She's also incredibly quick on the basepaths and is solid enough in the corners, although her lack of discipline may cost her at this level. Lily Scutaro is less polished in the batters’ box than your average LBL outfielder, and strikes out frequently. However, she makes up for it with supernatural instincts in center-field, where she’s won a Gold Glove in all three of her LBL seasons, and on the basepaths. Scutaro is also a surprisingly powerful hitter for her five-seven height. In right field, WBC rookie Trevor Mikkelson-Yao is an elite five-tool talent. In his second LBL season with Vargas City, Mikkelson-Yao became the youngest player to join the 30-30 club (thirty home runs and thirty stolen bases) in the past twenty years. He’s a bit of a free swinger, and his decision-making in right-field betrays his cannon arm and range sometimes, but the athleticism and talent are clearly there on both sides of the ball.

Tyson Long, a former first overall draft pick, has staked his case to be the Llamanean slugging outfielder. His plate discipline, long at-bats, and ability to hit to the opposite field have always defied his young age, but his in-game power has really caught up to his raw power recently in a breakout campaign where slugged forty-one home runs. Has been rumored to be up to no good in Quebec, which may or may not be related to his power surge, but is increasingly finding himself the odd man out in a stacked outfield. Meanwhile, Will Rentería is more of a specialist. A slap-hitter by nature, Rentería's weak bat is compensated for by his blazing-fast speed and defensive prowess. He'll most commonly feature as a pinch-runner or defensive substitution, while Long is a more natural long-term replacement for the other outfielders.

Note: For the playoffs, Oladipo will use a four-man rotation, with Jørgensen available out of the bullpen.
Isaac COLÓN, #50, 29, R - Vargas City Lions
Since his international debut at IBS11, Isaac Colón has been hyped up as a generational ace pitcher with talent in spades. Has this potential been reached? Well...yes and no. Colón lights up the radar gun with a triple-digit fastball, and his screwball and changeup both have incredible movement. He’s really matured lately as well and has become a silent killer in high-leverage situations. However, repeated injuries have limited his LBL effectiveness, and unless he can lead a deep playoff run, he’ll always fall short of the Zhengs and Masorkas of the past.
Kai SÖDERSTROM, #20, 29, L - New Llama Wizards
The understated second starter of the New Llama Wizards surprised many by throwing eight shutout innings in the President’s Cup finals, but Söderstrom has been a quietly excellent pitcher for far longer than that. The lanky lefty has a low-90s two-seam fastball with a lot of movement, which he mixes expertly with a strong curveball and an inconsistently controlled, but occasionally devastating, changeup. A paragon of focus and calm on the mound, Söderstrom is very difficult to rattle, but he has had troubles with the third time through the order in the past.
Savanna WLADECKI, #25, 26, L - South Falls Athletics
Rookie of the Year three seasons ago, Wladecki originally wasn’t supposed to be in the majors at all after being taken in the fourth round. But injuries forced her into Derrierton’s rotation, and although her fastball never rose above ninety miles an hour, extremely high spin and pinpoint accuracy ensured that even a relatively pedestrian-seeming fastball-slider-changeup combination was able to stymie hitters for her first few seasons in the LBL.
Edward ZHUANG, #37, 26, R - Nikcoro Suns
Former college standout Zhuang is first and foremost a power pitcher, with a high-octane, mid-nineties fastball and a knockout slurve that he mixes in with great effect. He lacks an effective third pitch, and his control is a little shaky, making him prone to lots of mistake pitches, but at the pro level it hasn’t seemed to hold him back at all.
Solveig JØRGENSEN, #28, 21, R - Xingcheng Renaissance
A young fireballer who loves to mix high fastballs that top out in the high nineties with sharp, late-breaking shuutos down in the zone. Also mixes in a comically slow, looping 12-6 curveball to great effect. The next steps will be to improve her control and gain a better strategic feel for the game, but the stuff is absolutely in place for Jørgensen to become a star.

Note: these are their recommended roles, but most of these are elite Llamanean relievers and can fill other roles pretty well. In the Llamanean baseball leagues, roles tend to be flexible, but Oladipo will be more rigid in his bullpen management. Oladipo has eschewed the new-age "relief ace" for a traditional, ninth-inning closer. These are all OOC role descriptions; ICly, there is no distinction between relievers. Specialty pitches are marked with one asterisk (or two asterisks for emphasis).

A note on Milchamian starting pitchers:
Since cricket got increasingly popular in Milchama over the Isolation there has been a concurrent belief in increasing the ability of pitchers to hit. Therefore, Milchamian pitchers tend to hit like Greg Maddux or like pitchers in the 1920s. Not actually good hitters but will be able to get on base if you give them an easy pitch.

Murderbum National Baseball Team

Murderbum is relatively large country located towards the south east of Anaia on the continent of Hodeikoleku. Having been strifed by political instability and conflict throughout the late 19th century and early 20th century, we witnessed the overthrowing of the Old Republic and installation of the puppet government which is effectively controlled by the members of the Bum Party. The Bum Party introduced an incredibly extreme form of Communism in Murderbum as they executed industry leaders who opposed them as all private industry was seized by the government.
Baseball being Murderbum’s national sport, is greatly popular in the nation as the nation’s government is attempting to satisfy the ever rising thirst of freedom in its people by giving them a glimpse of what they want. And above all try to maintain friendly relations with its regional neighbours who just happened to declare independence from Atlantian Oceania.

Note - Murderbum’s people have an odd naming convention as everyone’s records are stored with their surnames being Bum as a sign of allegiance to the state and the Bum Party with their family name being the middle name.

Manager - Bohumír Vlastimír Bum (Age - 58)
Bohumír is a staunch supporter of the government who had been deeply involved in politics after his baseball career failed to take off domestically. Having befriended a number of high level political officials when the time of formation of a Murderbum National Baseball squad to appear in the 52nd World Baseball Classic, he was the favourite to take over the reins as manager.

The South Americanastan National Team
After years of players having to "settle" for domestic leagues, South Americanastan has finally established it's first ever national baseball team! The new team has drawn players from all parts of the country, particularly Boston, Quebec, Montreal, and Halifax, with most players under the age of 25. South Americanastan is jubilant for the start of WBC 52 due to their team's surprise performance in WBC 51. South Americanastan's love for baseball burns true, and you can count on the stands being packed in Olympic Stadium.

Not many roster changes have been made since last WBC, with the total changes numbering only three. Ivan Kolbe retired, and is replaced by 17 year old Frank Monteforte, a baseball prodigy. Marvin Hartmann retired from his position as head coach, and will be honored at South Americanastan's home opener. Harry Dalton has been promoted to Assistant Coach to fill the position. This move has caused controversy, as Harry Dalton has become known as the man who sold South Americanastan to Hinto Brew the previous season. Harry Dalton's spot as the batting coach is filled by the newly retired Ivan Kolbe, who's hiring has helped offset the fan reaction to Harry Dalton's promotion.

After two straight playoff berths in baseball tournaments (WBC 51, IBS 13) to kick off their existence, the South Americanastan Bears and their fans are feeling optimistic about WBC 52. The team's discipline problems continue however, with a full rave being thrown in the locker room after an IBS 13 series. Coach Micheal Kelly continues his attempts to gain control of the situation, but whether his methods work is still to be seen.

Notes on the team
At first glance, the team is a mix of young and old. For that mix to exist, the selectors and coaches deliberately ignored some older players. If you only want Ko-oren's best, you will see maybe a handful of players under 30. That's not to say that this team is bad. All the stars are there, with a group of up-and-comers and veterans to set them up. Some of the more well-known names (that have appeared in previous WBCs) are Titi Barrande, Ré Fouquet, Dodo Ritsushima, Addison Paterson, Tevi Kagulazaka, and pitchers Senzo Utada, Xerman Figueredo, Distehonan Lambirthingun, Roman Sotolongo, Tacaro Cevocalu, Habi Hoga, and Koyo Igarashi.

The batting order is not the be-all-and-end-all either. The team will look at the upcoming starting pitcher and likely relievers and put in a few more lefties if needed. The basic premise is the same: #1 and #2 just need to get on base and be able to threaten to steal, #3 must be able to get on base and get RBIs, #4 and #5 focus on getting runners home, and #6 cleans up any left over players. #7 and #8 are primarily defenders without a lot of skill at bat, and #9 just needs to keep wear the pitcher out. The biggest change is the larger roster with a dedicated and diverse coaching staff. Especially the number of relief pitchers has been fixed: this has been a longstanding problem with the Dragonflies. They ran out of the perfect reliever for a specific situation time and time again.

Home venues
As with most of this sport, there is some competition between Finisterre and Yoshima. This extends to the home venues as well. Series of three matches are usually scheduled per region (ranked by how often they're used):
1) Katashi: the city of Katashi has several ready venues, including the Katashi Dome (the largest venue in Ko-oren) and Maesaki Park (smaller, but often used by domestic teams). Sometimes even the Heisaka Grounds are used (which is one third the size of Katashi Dome, to give you an idea). Katashi is hot and humid, though the sea breeze makes it nicer than it sounds.
2) Finisterre: the entire region has several big stadiums and they're almost always sold out if the Dragonflies come to visit. The Citadel (Santa Teresa), Ventovente (Ferrovente). Finisterre has a dry heat that persists for most of the year.
3) Rest of Leleia: the regions west and east of Katashi don't have the same population as city of Katashi itself, but has a lot of scattered towns with a proud baseball tradition. Twin Field (Nitoya), Obsidian Park (Suvira). These share the hot and humid conditions of Katashi but without the relief blowing in from the coast.
4) Rest of Ko-oren: not everyone plays baseball all the time, yet there are a few diamonds here and there. Le Losange (Aminey), Honrothru-din (Senoren), Vamada Océanique (Étouille), Naminaka Park (Schemerdrecht). The climates here are friendly and mellow year-round.
5) Alara and Etena islands: the northernmost islands of Yoshima are baseball-crazy as well, fans come from all over the island just to see a match. Uvesaki Field (Echizen), Vidari Stadium (Teragaseki), Vusodalo Stadium (Teraoka). These have all the humidity of Leleia and the friendly temperatures of the mainland.
6) Selesi island: the second-largest island of Yoshima has only a few venues, being the least densely populated part of Yoshima, but the few places they do have are popular. Ginofruit Field (Arakura). Like Leleia, it's hot and humid, with a decent chance of extreme weather.

Introduction:
Welcome back to the wonderful world of Hapiloppian baseball. In the Dominion of Hapilopper, baseball is a fast-paced game featuring wild baserunning, athletic fielders and moody pitchers who will just as soon throw at your head as they will strike you out. Hapiloppian baseball features their fair share of power hitters who will send the ball into the second deck of their local stadium and through the windshields of cars in the parking lot, but also feature hitters who will present their own creative interpretations of what is a base hit. More than a few players will bunt for a base hit and run like hell for first base. In fact, several years ago, the National League of Hapilopper's championship was decided by a walk-off suicide squeeze, one of the most exciting plays in the history of Hapiloppian sport. Players will try to exploit a hole in the other team's strategy. Fielders shifted towards right field? Expect a bunt to third base. Infielders are out? Look for a light chop over the pitcher's head. Hapiloppian baseball is a multi-layered game that is, to say the least, fun to watch.

The Hapilopper National Baseball Team, now in its seventh World Baseball Classic, has the highest expectations possible. Memories of their appearance in the finals against the Sherpa Empire still are fresh in their minds, and to them, there's only one thing left to do. "Win the whole fucking thing."

#1 - MO BEVERLY | First Baseman | Age: 29 | Throws: Right | Bats: Switch (60L-40R) | twii.tur: @morris_beverly
Hitting Style: Contact/Power | Speed: Slow | Base Stealing: Never | Bunting for Hit: Rarely | Showboats?: Never | Attitude: Team Captain

Well, you have to admit, it was going to happen sooner rather than later. Levi Berry's douchebaggery was going to bite him one day or another. Nobody had any idea, though, that it was going to be as brutal and, well, nasty as it turned out to be. Long story short, Levi Berry posted some pictures on twii.tur that he probably shouldn't have posted of a national teammate's girlfriend. That teammate, Dayton Rowe, punched Levi in the face at a coffee shop. When the National League of Hapilopper heard the cases of both men, Levi Berry was relegated to a bench role. But right, we're here to talk about Morris Beverly, whose story is just as interesting as Levi's, and the good thing is, Mo isn't a flaming douchenozzle. His story is that of having converted from catcher to first base after his knees gave out a couple of years ago, and he's done quite well for himself. Whether he actually deserves the starting role, though, is up for debate.

Image
#2 - GRANT BONNEY | Second Baseman | Age: 22 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @blue_bonney
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Fast | Base Stealing: Frequently | Bunting for Hit: Occasionally | Showboats?: No | Attitude: Intense

If you frequent the tracks at the high schools in the Emporia area like most middle-aged women and their dogs do, you'll find Grant Bonney, master of the double-play pivot and the dented hotel room walls, trying to improve his 40-yard dash time. This came as a result of a challenge from Emporia Reds hitting coach Clark Jewell, who jokingly suggested to Bonney that "the only thing you really need is some more speed." Bonney didn't see it as a joke, and started striving to improve his speed. He's done pretty well at it so far, and the result of this speed has been an increase in stolen bases. That's good for the HNBT, who are always looking for more speed on the basepaths and more opportunities to get under the skin of opposing pitchers and defense. As part of that effort to build his speed, Bonney has shed 15 pounds in the offseason. "Anything to get on base," he says. "Anything."

#3 - LEROY HUNNISETT | Third Baseman | Age: 32 | Throws: Right | Bats: Switch (70R-30L) | twii.tur: @hotcornerhunni
Hitting Style: Contact/Power | Speed: Medium | Base Stealing: Occasionally | Bunting for Hit: Rarely | Showboats?: Rarely | Attitude: Professional

The Hot Corner Honey! Leroy Hunnisett is a household name in Hapiloppian sports, even if he has been overshadowed by flashier players in the world of Hapiloppian sport. He's not the kind of in-your-face player like other members of the team, he's not the kind of player to intentionally piss off other players, nor is he the kind of player to act like a moron out in public. He just does what he does and that probably makes him one of the best ambassadors for baseball in the nation. And that's just the way he likes it. Nowadays, he plays in Banija, which most likely appreciates his ability to get the job done on the hot corner of third base. Hunnisett looks a tiny bit bigger than we remember seeing him most recently. Rumors abound concerning Leroy putting on about 15 pounds of muscle since the last World Baseball Classic. We'll see what this will do for his power hitting.

Image
#4 - JEROME HAYDEN | Shortshop | Age: 27 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @hayden24
Hitting Style: Power | Speed: Medium | Base Stealing: Occasionally | Bunting for Hit: No | Showboats?: OH HELL YES. | Attitude: Superstar

There's a lot of ways we can describe Jerome By-God Hayden, and a lot of them are accurate. He remains one of most obnoxious players in all of Hapiloppian baseball, and that comes from a burning desire to win ball games. He loves getting under the skin of opposing pitchers, watching them squirm uncomfortably as he blasts a towering home run to left field. And the thing is, Jerome's home runs aren't just home runs. They seem like theatrical presentations. Jerome hits one as hard as he can, and, almost without fail, stops to admire his handiwork. A smile comes over Jerome's face as he stands on home plate, watching the ball arc in the air. Then he starts going on a slow trot around the bases, delighted with what he's just done. He'll gesture a bit to his teammates as he trots around the bases, before ending at home, possibly having angered both the pitcher and the catcher. Jerome knows he'll probably have one thrown at his head later on, but that's fine. He's thrown them off their game.

Image
#5 - DAYTON ROWE | Left Field | Age: 25 | Throws: Left | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @roweman99
Hitting Style: Power | Speed: Ultra-Fast | Base Stealing: Yes | Bunting for Hit: If Needed | Showboats?: Sometimes | Attitude: Professional

Without fail, the absolute worst thing for a pitcher is to look towards first base and to see Dayton Rowe, taking a bit of a lead. Dayton is staring the pitcher down. When the pitcher turns to see how big a lead Dayton has pulled off, he'll stare back at a baserunner with a crazed look on his face. It's a look that almost resembles a slasher smile and says to the pitcher, "good luck getting me out. I WILL steal on you and you will like it." And that's if he stops at first base. Dayton is known for legging out all kinds of extra base hits, extending base hits past what one would normally expect. Last season, he hit 38 triples, the most for a single season in the history of the National League of Hapilopper. Reportedly in the midst of a feud with Levi Berry after Berry posted pictures of Rowe's girlfriend on twii.tur without her consent. Rowe tracked down Berry at a coffee shop and sucker-punched him, but escaped punishment when NLH officials agreed that Berry pretty much had it coming.

Image
#6 - MELVIN PEMBERTON | Center Field | Age: 25 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @super_melvin
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Fast | Base Stealing: Frequent | Bunting for Hit: If Needed | Showboats?: You could call it that | Attitude: Somewhat childish

"Super Melvin" Pemberton, the more docile of the three Pemberton brothers, has long since ended the debate of whether he's actually national team material. Sure, that discussion is common when people discuss the Pemberton brothers, but Super Melvin has quashed that discussion more than anyone else. Perhaps it's because his strange behavior doesn't appear to be as much of a distraction as it is for his brothers. Or perhaps it's because of his insane range in center field, or his ability to make athletic catches in the outfield, sometimes jumping off the wall to rob hitters of sure home runs. Has reportedly developed quite a love for chillwave music and its offshoots, and reportedly listens to chillwave mixes before hitting the field for ballgames. Beats the hell out of his brothers - one of whom watches children's cartoons, drinks chocolate milk and plays with toy airplanes in the clubhouse, and the other is hijacking the clubhouse television to watch daytime trash television. Is it any wonder that Super Melvin's the Pemberton that starts?

Image
#7 - BILL PARENT | Right Field | Age: 26 | Throws: Right | Bats: Switch (70L-30R) | twii.tur: @billparent
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Medium-Fast | Base Stealing: Occasionally | Bunting for Hit: Occasionally | Showboats?: Rarely | Attitude: Asshole

We've referred to a few players as assholes on our player sheet, and many of them are nasty to everyone around them. Their personality can be best described using expletives. But perhaps Bill Parent doesn't deserve to be roped in as an asshole. He is antisocial. He gives very few interviews - and those that do interview him had better ask good questions, or he'll bite. He does not like to be around his teammates - instead choosing to leave the ballpark immediately after the game and head to the nearby Jane's Diner, in full uniform, icepack on his right arm, ordering a double cheeseburger with two fried eggs on them and hashbrowns scattered, smothered, covered and chunked on the side. Perhaps that "asshole" reputation comes here. Late at night, after a ball game, a few drunks might stagger in from either having had too much at the ball park or at the nearby bar, and seeing Bill Parent, having made that insane throw from the right-field fence to home plate, without the help of a cutoff man, those drunks might want to hang out with him and get a picture or an autograph. The response from Bill is the same every time: "Fuck off!" He doesn't like people. And sometimes, who could blame him?

Image
#8 - GRADY ELLIOTT | Catcher | Age: 25 | Throws: Right | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @grady_elliott
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Slow | Base Stealing: Never, unless needed | Bunting for Hit: Frequently (for some reason) | Showboats?: No | Attitude: Bland

On the Hapilopper National Baseball Team, there are some incredible, larger-than-life characters. There's the guy that nearly blew up a gas station and almost got run over by a school bus full of kindergartners. There's the spitballer. There's the guy that did that thing in a team shower with a bottle of hot sauce. There's the Pemberton brothers, and God knows what kind of lunacy comes with them. There's that raging douchebag that tried to humiliate a teammate's girlfriend. There's Jerome By God Hayden. There's the guy that insists on the chili dogs and beer before his starts. There's that guy with the mullet, the denim shorts and the fake moustache that caused a bench-clearing brawl during the pre-game meeting. And then there's Grady Elliott, who is most definitively none of those things. Not even close, in fact. He shows up to the ballpark, says little and does little to draw attention to him, and he gets the job done. And while some consider him "frustratingly bland" and "boring as oatmeal," the fact is he gets the job done, and he wound up replacing Mo Beverly at the starting catcher position quite well.

#30 - MILFORD "HOT SAUCE" GIBBS | Starting Pitcher | Age: 32 | Throws: Right | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @HapHotSauce
Arsenal: 4-Seam Fastball (98 mph), Cutter (94 mph), Straight Change (88 mph), Slurve (80 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 100
Pitching Style: Power | On-Mound Attitude: Relaxed | Headhunter: Rare | Control: Great | Off-Mound Attitude: Professional

Let's just get started by reminding you that nobody, with the exception of his parents and his wife Bonnie call him "Milford." Everyone else - and we mean EVERYONE - calls him Hot Sauce. His teammates, coaches, friends, hell, even his daughter's first grade teacher calls him Hot Sauce. Now, if Hot Sauce had the dumb idea to tell his daughter's first grade class exactly how he got that name - and he wouldn't, because he's not an idiot like Nolan Jefferson or Lonnie Hayter - then it's possible the cops might be called. The story behind the name centers around an incident several years ago in a team shower in Garvinson involving a bottle of hot sauce. Either way, Hot Sauce has parlayed that name into his own brand of hot sauce - known as "The Hot Sauce's Hot Sauce," which you probably shouldn't pour liberally all over your eggs. Be careful with them. On the mound, Hot Sauce Gibbs has proven why he's the foremost pitcher in Hapilopper, registering a 26-3 record last year for the Washington Metropolitans.

Image
#31 - VICTOR FOSTER | Starting Pitcher | Age: 34 | Throws: Left | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @victor_onthe_hill
Arsenal: Spit-Fastball (92-96 mph), Spit-Change (83-89 mph), Spit-Slider (80-85 mph), Bullshit (85-90 mph) - Velocity depends on substance on ball
Pitching Style: Spit-Power | On-Mound Attitude: Angry | Headhunter: Yes | Control: Good | Off-Mound Attitude: Creative

Perhaps the most controversial player on the entire Hapilopper National Baseball Team, Victor Foster makes no bones about the fact that he freely, openly and happily adulterates his pitches with a variety of foreign substances, perhaps the most high-profile beneficiary of the NLH's loophole that effectively allows spitballers in Hapiloppian baseball. That rule, NLH Rule 6.02(c), prohibits pitchers from using bodily fluids and hot sauce on pitches, but the way the rule is written, does not prohibit pitchers from utilitzing other substances. So, theoretically, a pitch with petroleum jelly on it, in Hapilopper, is a legal pitch. The same goes with peanut butter, butter sauce, and pain relief cream. More than a few fans have spotted Vic in the aisles of Mel's Ultra-Mart, looking for something to put on his pitches. Those fans have noted, surprisingly, that Vic is actually pretty friendly and is open to suggestions from fans of what to put on his pitches. The only rule, of course, is that he can't put any kind of bodily fluid on his pitches. The NLH has written this to mean "spit," but fans have provided other suggestions.

Image
#32 - COLE WINTHROP | Starting Pitcher | Age: 27 | Throws: Right | Bats: Like a dumbass | twii.tur: @c-winthrop
Arsenal: 4-Seam Fastball (96 mph), Circle Change (85 mph), Screwball (75 mph), Slider (83 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 95
Pitching Style: Control | On-Mound Attitude: Nervous | Headhunter: Rare | Control: Great | Off-Mound Attitude: Professional

It is said that Cole Winthrop is every bit as good on the mound as he is bad at batting. On the mound, he is lights-out. Last season, he was 24-2 with a 2.35 ERA and threw a no-hitter against the Hapilopper City Nationals in Capital Stadium, allowing just two base runners on walks. The fans in Hapilopper City were conflicted - it was one of the national team pitchers, and they hoped that Cole could do something of that sort against international teams, but still, damn it, it was against the HC Nationals. To this day, Cole is still the most recent pitcher to throw a perfect game in Hapilopper, his gem against North Hampton three years ago still standing as the most recent. But when he takes the batter's box, the cries from pundits to pollute the Hapiloppian game with the designated hitter grow louder. Maybe it's Cole spinning around and falling on his ass attempting to hit a pitch so far outside, it could legally qualify as a "pitchout" in numerous nations. Maybe it's Cole accidentally letting go of the bat and accidentally clubbing a high school music teacher looking at her phone. She would have been fine had her dipshit boyfriend not ducked, and I don't know, tried to protect her?

Image
#33 - EDDIE HEDLEY | Starting Pitcher | Age: 20 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @edhed49
Arsenal: Knuckleball (65 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 135
Pitching Style: Control | On-Mound Attitude: Excitable | Headhunter: No | Control: Good | Off-Mound Attitude: Young Buck

The protege of pitching coach Curtis Skinner, Eddie Hedley is seen as Hapilopper's next great knuckleball ace, and earned a spot on the starting rotation after three different things happened: Eddie had a great rookie season in the NLH this year, going 19-8 with a 3.15 ERA for the Pinkerton Fighters; Curtis Skinner took Eddie under his wing; and Nolan Jefferson, in full Surrey Wolves uniform, stole the bullpen cart that belonged to the Wolves, crashed it into a gas pump, started a large fire, and while trying to run away from the scene, nearly got run over by a school bus carrying a bunch of kindergartners on their way to their first ever field trip. Jefferson was demoted to emergency starter and Hedley was given the job. But don't let that cast doubt on Eddie's ability to get the job done - he throws the knuckleball exclusively, and does it well, fooling hitters with a pitch that dances through the air, sans any kind of spin, before sailing past the batter.

Image
#34 - LUCKY SPALDING | Starting Pitcher | Age: 31 | Throws: Right | Bats: Left | twii.tur: (none)
Arsenal: 2-Seam Fastball (95 mph), Forkball (82 mph), 12-6 Curveball (81 mph), Eephus (40 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 100
Pitching Style: Control | On-Mound Attitude: Relaxed | Headhunter: Rarely | Control: Medium-Good | Off-Mound Attitude: Class Clown

It's 45 minutes before game time, and Lucky Spalding has stretched out in a couple of empty seats not far from his team's dugout. He's got one chili dog in his hand, a second chili dog on a tray not far away and a large plastic cup of beer in a cupholder not far away. His teammates are practicing - taking cuts in batting practice, fielders are casually playing a game of pepper in the outfield, and some of the pitchers are comparing notes. Meanwhile, Lucky, who is starting that game, is relaxing, chowing down on his chili dogs. But why does he do it? He says it relaxes him. He's stiff and somewhat nervous before the start of games he's set to start, but then when he goes to the concession stand and orders his dinner, it calms him down. And he insists on ordering it himself - reportedly turning down an offer from the Hapilopper National Baseball Team to have the chili dogs and beer delivered to him. It's pretty effective - Lucky went 22-5 last year with a 3.05 ERA, and hilariously striking out multiple batters a game with his eephus pitch, which he has turned from a joke pitch into a serious piece of his arsenal.

Image
#35 - NOLAN JEFFERSON | Emergency Starter | Age: 29 | Throws: Left | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @100start
Arsenal: 4-Seam Fastball (101 mph), Slider (87 mph), Dropball (80 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 85
Pitching Style: Power | On-Mound Attitude: Cocky | Headhunter: Rare | Control: Great | Off-Mound Attitude: Moron

Recently, Tucker Dunst, that annoying loudmouth that co-hosts the H-Sports show "The Hot Take," had a hilarious quip about Nolan Jefferson. "He's got billion-dollar talent but a two-cent brain!" And how true that was. Nolan Jefferson is considered perhaps the best pitcher in baseball - two years ago, becoming the first 30-win, 400-strikeout pitcher in decades. But when he's off the field, he's the biggest idiot in professional sports. The last time we saw him, he was running away from the scene of a massive fire at a gas station that occured after he drove the Surrey Wolves' bullpen cart - stolen, we need to point out - right into a gas pump at the station across the street from BankTrust Park. He served some time in jail, and was only brought back on the team on the conditions that 1.) someone drive him places, and 2.) he serve as an emergency starter ONLY. Whether he returns to the starting rotation remains to be seen.

Image
#40 - MARTIN MEADOWS | Long Reliever | Age: 30 | Throws: Left | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @martinmeadowspitcher
Arsenal: 4-Seam Fastball (101 mph), Circle Change (85 mph), Slider (85 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 65
Pitching Style: Power | On-Mound Attitude: Calm | Headhunter: No | Control: Mediocre to Horrifying | Off-Mound Attitude: Determined

In years past, Martin Meadows has served as both a long reliever and the emergency starter for the HNBT. While he never quite served as an emergency starter, Dale Moss and his coaching staff huddled and agreed that Martin's control might make it a good idea for him to not start any sort of game. You see, Martin's control is well-known, but for all the wrong reasons. On some days, it's tolerable, enough for him to get over the plate and get hitters out. On other days, though, it's enough for fans and beer vendors to look for the nearest place to take cover. While those days are becoming fewer and fewer as time passes, fans still know Martin as the guy who has beaned teammates' girlfriends, sent television commentators ducking for cover under their desks and knocking mascots out of their costumes. Last year, one mascot, "King Merlin," the mascot of the West Hampton Royals, entertaining fans in the upper deck of the stadium there, was pelted with a 100 mph fastball that somehow or another had made it all the way up there. The mascot was lucky to not fall from the upper deck towards the fans below. The umpire just shook his head at Martin and laughed.

Image
#41 - JORDAN MEADOWS | Lefty Specialist | Age: 30 | Throws: Left | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @jordan10meadows/@rodneyderude
Arsenal: 4-Seam Fastball (100 mph), Slurve (85 mph), Sinker (95 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 40
Pitching Style: Power | On-Mound Attitude: Relaxed | Headhunter: Occasionally | Control: Medium | Off-Mound Attitude: Class Clown

It's the 2nd inning of a game at Capital Stadium. 65,000 fans are watching intently as the Hapilopper National Baseball Team is looking to put a leg up on whoever nation this is. Meanwhile, in the bullpen, some guy with this awful (and we mean AWFUL) mullet hairdo, 90s-vintage sunglasses, a fake moustache, a 90s-vintage leather HASCAR jacket, and jean shorts that can be best described as "nuthuggers" starts dancing around. It's Jordan Meadows, in his alter-ego of Rodney DeRude, the popular sideshow from the Garvinson Trojans bullpen. Jordan is the Hap Thrashers' resident LOOGY - Left-Handed One Out Guy, that's brought in to face a left-handed batter and get them out. And his day will be done. Such is the life of a LOOGY. In spite of the fact that Jordan usually faces very, very few batters in a given ballgame, he is among the most popular players on both the Garvinson Trojans and the Hapilopper National Baseball Team.

Image
#42 - TREVOR ASHLEY | Middle Reliever | Age: 35 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: (none)
Arsenal: Sinker (95 mph), Split-Finger Fastball (85 mph), Slider (80 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 35
Pitching Style: Control | On-Mound Attitude: Determined | Headhunter: Frequent | Control: Good | Off-Mound Attitude: Asshole

Word to the wise, don't ask this guy for an autograph. He'll respond with a couple of profanities and a one-fingered gesture. And that was to an old lady who works in a church not far from where he plays. Players try to steer clear of him. Last year, when H-Sports attempted to ask players their best way to describe Trevor Ashley, they couldn't do it without using profanities. The segment never aired, because by the time they were done editing it, it sounded more like a truck backing up than anything usable. But the thing is, though, is that Trevor is respected among his teammates for his innate ability to get a team out of some real heavy jams. Bases loaded? That's cool. He'll strike out the side, one after another. And it's for that talent, the ability to get Hapilopper out of trouble, that Dale Moss keeps him on the team. He may be a complete dickhead, but he's not disruptive to the team. They go out of their way to not push his buttons, so you don't hear of any problems with him. And he gets the job done.

Image
#43 - AARON ARMSTRONG | Long Reliever/Designated Hitter/Pinch Hitter | Age: 26 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @aarmstrong
Arsenal: 4-Seam Fastball (101 mph), Screwball (78 mph), Curveball (75 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 90
Pitching Style: Power | On-Mound Attitude: Relaxed | Headhunter: Rare | Control: Medium | Off-Mound Attitude: Professional
Hitting Style: Power | Speed: Ultra-Fast | Base Stealing: Yes | Bunting for Hit: If Needed | Showboats?: Sometimes

Welcome back to the gun show. Aaron Armstrong, complete with his 22-inch biceps, sleeveless jerseys, power pitching and explosive power, has once again been brought back as a member of Hapilopper's relief squad and the team's assigned designated hitter. In Hapilopper, he serves as a two-way player, able to hit and pitch, but Manager Dale Moss dislikes the idea of keeping a bat on the bench for a day or two, especially if he needs it. In the event a team has, for some unknown reason, actually decided to use that atrocity known as the designated hitter, Aaron will serve as the dh, reminding the world that a pitcher should always hit. And Aaron doesn't mind that. Rather than sit down for a couple of days after throwing 97 pitches, Aaron will serve as a relief pitcher, or a pinch hitter if he's needed, which, Dale reasons, will allow the team to use Aaron's bat a little more. Two years ago, Armstrong set the human record for the longest home run in the history of Capital Stadium, blasting a 525-foot tape measure shot to the upper reaches of the upper deck in left field at the old concrete donut.

#44 - ROTGUT WOMACK | Set-Up Man | Age: 28 | Throws: Left | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @wayne_womack
Arsenal: Shootball (95 mph), Knuckle-Curve (85 mph), Screwball (70 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 40
Pitching Style: Control | On-Mound Attitude: Fiery | Headhunter: Occasionally | Control: Medium | Off-Mound Attitude: Drunk

Wayne Womack would probably be an unremarkable late-inning relief pitcher were it not for his nickname of "Rotgut." That name came from college, when Wayne could be constantly seen with a bottle of cheap whiskey - or "rotgut" whiskey, as some call it. At Garvinson State, Rotgut Womack and his roommate, Oil Can Leonard, led all of Hapiloppian College baseball in ERA, strikeouts and blood alcohol content - which is really saying something, given Hapiloppian College Baseball's reputation for hard-partying ballplayers. In fact, the local student-run newspaper at Garvinson State was formally censured by the school after their sports page ran a lengthy feature on both with the headline "DRUNK AND DANGEROUS - WOMACK AND LEONARD GIVING HITTERS FITS." Rotgut Womack, now playing for the Garvinson Trojans, is still known for enjoying his really cheap whiskey after games - even though his contract with the Trojans allows him a better selection than the 2-liter bottle of Garvinson Gentleman for $10. Yikes.

#45 - TRAVIS REID | Set-Up Man | Age: 31 | Throws: Left | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @treeman59
Arsenal: 2-Seam Fastball (98 mph), Sinking Slider (80 mph), Curveball (70 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 30
Pitching Style: Fly Ball | On-Mound Attitude: Nervous | Headhunter: Rare | Control: Mediocre | Off-Mound Attitude: Friendly

It's late at night, and you're enjoying a night of baseball, like so many Hapiloppians do in the spring and summer. You go to the freezer and get out that tub of Cookie Closer Ice Cream and fix yourself a couple of scoops. After all, it's pretty damn good - and it looks like the creator of that ice cream, Travis Reid, is about to take to the mound for a late-inning showing. As you put the tub of ice cream back in the freezer and go back into the TV room in time to see Travis finish warming up, you realize you're probably going to need to drink something pretty strong with this ice cream. Maybe find some of Rotgut Womack's whiskey or something, because Travis Reid - the "Treeman," as people call him - will either have a really good showing on the mound, striking out players right and left - or he'll have a really horrendous time on the mound, with pitches going wildly off-target, fielding that resembles something off a blooper reel, runs coming in and a manager rethinking this decision to bring in this poor guy. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the #TreemanExperience. Pour yourself a shot of whiskey or three. You might need it.

#46 - JOE THORPE | Mop-Up Man | Age: 26 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: (none)
Arsenal: 4-Seam Fastball (98 mph), Changeup (80 mph), Curveball (70 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 25
Pitching Style: Power | On-Mound Attitude: Calm | Headhunter: No | Control: Good | Off-Mound Attitude: Indifferent

When the bullpen doors open up and Joe Thorpe comes casually walking towards the pitcher's mound, it's a sign that the game is, for all intents and purposes, over. Some team has pulled out to a huge lead and Joe Thorpe is here to close out innings where the commentators are telling stories about the time they talked to the President of Hapilopper on the phone during a rain delay, or the time some relief pitcher decided he was "going to be like Chris Holmes" and threw a large lizard inside the commentary booth. If the game's close, Joe will stay on the bench or he'll retreat to the clubhouse, crack open a couple of cold beers and relax. And he'll level with you, that's how he prefers it. He prefers to not have to go out there - unless, of course, the Haps have kicked it wide open. Then, he'll go on the mound and just have the time of his life. And he did a few times during the last World Baseball Classic.

#50 - DWAYNE POCOCK | Closer | Age: 29 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @dwaynepocock
Arsenal: 4-Seam Fastball (105 mph), Knuckle-Curve (75 mph), Changeup (85 mph) | Max Pitch Count: 20
Pitching Style: Power | On-Mound Attitude: Calm | Headhunter: No | Control: Great | Off-Mound Attitude: Calm

During the last World Baseball Classic, there was an interesting exchange involving members of Dale Moss's coaching staff, an exchange that was aired during HTN's coverage of a close game at Capital Stadium. The atmosphere was downright electric, and you could barely hear yourself think. But Dale Moss was absolutely incredulous - was Dwayne Pocock actually SNOOZING in the dugout? Turns out he was. He was called to warm up, and so he did. Even as the deafening roar from the 66,000 plus in Capital Stadium rattled the thoughts of anyone and everyone, Dwayne Pocock got the job done, as calm as ever. In fact, one person joked "if he was any calmer, he'd be dead." There might be some truth to that. Even in the most hair-raising of situations, Dwayne looks almost bored with the situation, ready to retire the side with a frightening efficiency.

#11 - LEVI BERRY | First Baseman | Age: 30 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @levib12
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Medium | Base Stealing: Rare | Bunting for Hit: Occassionally | Showboats?: Rarely | Attitude: Douchebag

Levi Berry was, for a number of years, the mainstay at first base for the Hapilopper National Baseball Team, dating back, in fact, all the way, to the first international game for the team. Perhaps that's what helped build his ego. For the last couple of years, we've heard stories of Levi's attitude becoming a problem - first over social media, where he apparently got into a spat with NSSCRA driver Taylor Henderson, and then last year, when his behavior in the clubhouse led to some pundits tagging him a "clubhouse cancer." It all came to a head several weeks after the NLH season came to an end, when Levi apparently obtained photos of Dayton Rowe's girlfriend in, shall we say, some suggestive poses. The smart thing to do would have been to delete the photos. They weren't his, nor did Dayton's girlfriend give anyone permission to give those photos out. But Levi, being Levi, posted them on social media. Dayton tracked him down to a coffee shop and sucker-punched him. The NLH sided with Dayton, viewing Levi's actions as "a douche move," and relegated him to a bench role. He was lucky he wasn't kicked off the team.

#12 - LONNIE HAYTER | Second Baseman | Age: 22 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @2BHayter
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Fast | Base Stealing: Frequent | Bunting for Hit: When needed | Showboats?: Rarely | Attitude: Moron

Right now, you probably haven't heard of Lonnie Hayter. And that's fine. By the end of the World Baseball Classic, chances are you probably will. There are rumors that Manager Dale Moss wants to platoon Hayter and Grant Bonney at second base, considering Hayter's prowess at the base. Lonnie hopes you hear of him for what he does on the field - his athletic patrolling of second base - and not what he does off the field. You see, Lonnie is a bit of an idiot. He doesn't try to hurt people with his idiocy, he likes to do things that make him and everyone around him smile. Videos of his attempted "Mel's Home Run Derby" - where Lonnie and several friends tried to hit eggs from the grocery aisle of a Mel's Ultra-Mart as far as they could with a wiffleball bat - went viral and got him banned from his local Mel's, not to mention the fact it made a gigantic mess. Same goes with the videos of Lonnie going into his old college and playing tunes on a trumpet, shirtless - you could hear a professor shout "GOD DAMN IT, HAYTER, GET OUT OF HERE, YOU SON OF A BITCH!"

#13 - AIDEN BEASLEY | Third Baseman | Age: 24 | Throws: Right | Bats: Switch (60R-40L) | twii.tur: @aidenbeasley
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Medium | Base Stealing: If Needed | Bunting for Hit: Rarely | Showboats?: Whenever possible | Attitude: Cocky

Remember those days when you'd spot one of your old friends from school, and you realized they had changed? Aiden Beasley's friends go on social media all the time and say "he hasn't been the same since he signed that 60 million dollar contract with the Garvinson Trojans." Nowadays, he's a big shot, who uses his batting average as a pickup line - and that's no joke, either. More than one woman in the Garvinson area has said that they've been approached by him, and he'd say something along the lines of "Hey baby, I doubt anyone else in here hits .350!" It works occasionally, too. He recently purchased a top-of-the-line Preston Super Skychief Drake Stevenson edition, which has that extra little more power than the standard Super Skychief (which is not a standard car by any means). And supposedly, he might be wanting to replace Leroy Hunnisett as the starting third baseman, or else he walks off the team. New member on the HNBT and he's got an attitude problem. Watch this space.

#14 - FREDDY SHEPHERD | Shortstop | Age: 23 | Throws: Right | Bats: Switch (50-50) | twii.tur: @shortsheppy
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Fast | Base Stealing: Frequently | Bunting for Hit: If needed | Showboats?: Occasionally | Attitude: Clumsy

Poor Freddy Shepherd. He's a tremendous ballplayer, capable of getting on base with alarming frequency and stealing bases on request. Unfortunately, the fans know him much more for his unfortunate moments of clumsiness. Things like ironing his shirt while he was still wearing it. Things like tripping into the dugout after an inning. Things like spilling coffee all over the place in the clubhouse. Things like smashing shins-first into a metal bar connecting a tractor from a stage, something that nearly netted him two broken legs and two weeks of downtime as he tried to recover from the injuries. Luckily, those sort of injuries have not cost him his speed or his athleticism, and he's got great levels of both of those. He's a great fielder and a great hitter, but he needs to be a little more careful off the field.

Image
#15 - RANDALL PEMBERTON | Outfield | Age: 29 | Throws: Right | Bats: Left | twii.tur: (none, for legal reasons)
Hitting Style: Power | Speed: Fast | Base Stealing: Frequently | Bunting for Hit: If needed | Showboats?: Disturbingly Often | Attitude: Childlike

It's a miracle Randall Pemberton is still on the Hapilopper National Baseball Team. Not for his on-field exploits, because he's a tremendous ballplayer. Rather, it's a miracle he's still on the team because of his antics. His egregiously idiotic antics, which involve prank calls, infantile jokes and idiotic behavior has made some enemies amongs some powerful people. For instance, a few years ago, he was removed from all social media by a court order after some incidents involving him and a handful of Conservative Party politicians. As always, we'll spare you the details (because I don't want Hapilopper to be DEAT'd over a vulgar roster post), but let's just say it was pretty damned vulgar. It's a shame he's been reduced to being such a sideshow, because Randall is a damn good player. Last year, he had his best season, hitting .355 while hitting 39 home runs. If he can focus his entire thoughts on baseball and not, well, dumb shit, he could potentially be a .400 hitter, something Hapilopper hasn't seen in a very, very long time.

#16 - SCOTTY "SPUDS" PEMBERTON | Outfield | Age: 27 | Throws: Left | Bats: Left | twii.tur: @spemberton
Hitting Style: Power | Speed: Fast | Base Stealing: Frequently | Bunting for Hit: If needed | Showboats?: No | Attitude: Class Clown

Known for his ridiculous RecSpecs that he wears on the field, Spuds Pemberton - and he insists on being called "Spuds" by everyone - is one of the most fiery players in all of Hapiloppian baseball, and has recently gained a flair for stealing bases that few can match - even by Hapiloppian standards. He looks for a weakness in the other team's pitchers and catchers and takes advantage of them like nothing else. Hell, last year, in a game against the HC Nationals, Spuds famously stole home when the Nationals was attempting a hidden ball trick. Nationals players could only shrug as their attempt at subtrefuge failed massively. That sort of fire has led Spuds to hit .328 and hit 22 home runs last season, one of his best seasons since going pro. Spuds Pemberton is reportedly considering taking up sim racing as a hobby, and is shopping around for sim rigs.

Image
#17 - BRETT GODFREY | Outfield | Age: 24 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @godfrey96
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Fast | Base Stealing: Occasionally | Bunting for Hit: Occasionally | Showboats?: Yes | Attitude: Cocky

Brett Godfrey fashions himself as a hitter that can boast huge averages, get on base all the time and score runs at will. But when he blasts a home run over the fence, he'll flip a bat with the best of 'em. And when he blasts a home run, he'll do a nice dance before he even makes it for first base. The fans in Emporia love it. His teammates love it. The other teams, though, absolutely hate it. Brett has had a few fastballs thrown at his head for his dancing, but he just doesn't care. He'll do it even more, and he'll blast one over the fence for your trouble. On defense, his large range in the right field for the Emporia Reds has been a massive asset for the team, robbing teams of extra-base hits with his athletic patrolling of right field. Reportedly in the process of formulating his own energy drink, which should only help out this little ego problem of his he's developed.

Image
#18 - GORD CASTLE | Catcher | Age: 23 | Throws: Right | Bats: Right | twii.tur: @gord_castle
Hitting Style: Contact | Speed: Slow | Base Stealing: Rarely | Bunting for Hit: No | Showboats?: Rarely | Attitude: Redneck

Gordon "Gord" Castle, who plays for the Peoria Warriors, is the kind of catcher you can depend on. Picking off fielders? Great. Standing his ground when he's being railroaded? Good. Framing pitches to fool gullible umpires? Cool. That's what Gord Castle does on the field. Off the field, he enjoys the tranquility of fishing, trying to find a nice bass while drinking a few beers and listening to some country music. He drives a pickup truck, chews tobacco and watches HASCAR racing when he's able to. He also enjoys being an idiot over social media, and made headlines a year ago for calling Drake Stevenson "a fuckin' baby head fat-lookin' assclown." Or something like that.

Image
#19 - TYSON CRUMPLER | Designated Runner | Age: 35 | Throws: He doesn't | Bats: He doesn't | twii.tur: @crumpler
Hitting Style: N/A | Speed: Mega-Fast | Base Stealing: All the time | Bunting for Hit: N/A | Showboats?: No | Attitude: Relaxed

The fastest man in Hapiloppian baseball, Tyson Crumpler is on the Hapilopper National Baseball Team primarily as a pinch-running specialist. Last year, he stole 57 bases, a number that experts agree would be higher had his batting average been a little higher. Crumpler hit for a relatively pedestrian .184 average last year, and was is used primarily as a designated runner for the Buckridge Blues in clutch situations. And therein lies the rub. Tyson is a designated runner, and he will not hit or field in the slightest. His 40-yard dash time is a 3.97, which is stupidly fast, and more than enough for a team to bring him in as a base-runner and a base-runner only. Away from the field, Crumpler owns three dogs - Alge, Warrick and Brooking, who strangely look like they could raise hell on a gridiron football field.

Image
#20 - DALE MOSS | Manager | Age: 54
Arguing With Umpires: Frequently | Shifting Infielders: Often | Shifting Outfielders: Often | Pull Pitchers: Quickly, especially at the pitch count limit

A few years ago, Dale Moss received one hell of a vote of confidence from his players, in the middle of the Hapiloppian team's magical run in the 49th World Baseball Classic. Moss has turned this team around from a group of underachievers to a proper representation of what Hapiloppian baseball is supposed to be - batshit crazy. And Dale will bring in the craziness himself, not afraid to rush out and give the umpires a piece of his mind. Matter of fact, Moss speaks a great deal about the "tactical ejection" - where he will deliberately get himself ejected and work himself up into a lather to fire up his players to kick some ass on the ballfield. Most of the time when he's screaming at an umpire, he knows the umpires are right - he just wants to get his team to kick some ass. The fans love it, his players love it, and his fire has helped turn the Haps into a perpetual contender.

CAPITAL STADIUM | Hapilopper City | Seating Capacity: 66,201
Built: 1968-1970 | Opened: June 30, 1970 | Open-Air | Surface: WreckeriaTurf Artificial Turf
Dimensions: 330 Left, 375 Left Center, 404 Center, 375 Right Center, 330 Right | Fence Height: 8 Feet
Furthest Home Run: Aaron Armstrong, Surrey Wolves, 6/25/2022, 525 feet*
No-Hitters: Four (Most Recent: Whit Dabney, Peoria Warriors, May 6, 2021
Perfect Games: None

Capital Stadium, just off the West River in Hapilopper City, is the mother church of baseball, football and gridiron in the Dominion of Hapilopper. It is the place that all baseball players, footballers and gridiron players dream of playing, above any others. The stadium is the last of Hapilopper's classic cookie-cutter stadiums, and in spite of being one of the oldest stadiums in Hapilopper, there is no indication it is going away any time soon. As is custom with cookie-cutter stadiums, the park is completely symmetrical and is surrounded by multiple decks of stands, typically filled with screaming fans when the HC Nationals are doing well. Back in the 1970s, the HC Nationals, and their vaunted "National Machine" dominated Hapiloppian baseball, and brought over four million fans through the turnstiles on six occasions. Hapiloppian fans have vowed to come to Capital Stadium in force for HNBT games.

Capital Stadium is considered a "neutral" park and does not favor hitters or pitchers per se, but the artificial turf, known as WreckeriaTurf, is seen as the HC Nationals' secret weapon. Balls bounce and fly like crazy off the turf, and the HC Nationals have commonly selected players that have been able to use that turf - and its unusual properties - to good use. The stadium has recently undergone renovations, including new clubhouses, extra seats, new luxury boxes and a new video board all around the roof of the stadium, in an effort to keep the old concrete donut for years and decades to come. When you come to play at Capital Stadium, you come to play in the big leagues.

* - Hapiloppian record keepers only count home runs hit by humans. Several home runs, hit by Hampton Island's trained bear Midnight, went much farther than Armstrong's 525-foot blast.

Banija National Baseball Team

Coaching Staff
The current manager, Ousman Kakay, is in his 7th cycle as the team's manager. He has been wildly successful at the helm, leading the team to a bronze medal his first tournament(WBC 46), and a championship his second tournament(WBC 47), while getting to the quarterfinals in three straight classics before winning title #2 at WBC 51.

He is an old school manager, less into analytics and more into traditional baseball thinking. He believes in the strength of this team, which are his starting pitchers- he is much more likely to leave a starting pitcher in too long rather than pull them out too quickly. He also strongly rejects the idea of a "bullpen game."

The entire coaching staff from WBC 51 is returning for this cycle.

Manager- Ousman Kakay. 69 years old. Starting managing the team at the beginning of WBC 46.
Bench Coach- Baluta Colley. 59 years old. Seventh Cycle on staff. Spent five classics as hitting coach, but when the bench coach, Isaac Oladipo, took the promotion with Super Llamaland, he moved up to the bench coach role.
Hitting Coach- Theodosia Osano. 54 years old. Second Cycle on Staff. First ever female on the coaching staff.
Pitching Coach- Lemuel Okombo. 47 years old. Second Cycle on Staff. Like his predecessor, he likes big, tall, hard throwing pitchers. Manager in the WBBL for the past three seasons.
1st base Coach- Elijah Anoko. 44 years old. Second Cycle on Staff. Previous manager of University of Moravica baseball.
3rd base Coach- Jeriah Opolo. 81 years old. Second Cycle on Staff. Served as a mentor to Ousman Kakay, this will be first and only classic on the staff.

WBBL = Western Banijan Baseball League, Banija's top-flight professional baseball leauge.
If they have never played in a WBC and this is their first cycle, they are italicized.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: No(I have it all spelled out for you above! You can make in game substitutions for pinch runners/hitters or defensive subs as you see fit, but please follow the lineup as given above).
Follow my pitching rotation: Yes (I have it labeled game by game to prevent any confusion, so please follow! Make pitching changes of course during games as you please, but please do not have other starters coming into a game in relief)
Eject my players:Yes(My manager is a hothead, you can eject him too)
Godmod scoring events: No
RP injuries to my players: Yes (Please specify both the injury and the # of games that they will miss)
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes (Please specify both the injury and the # of games that they will miss)
Godmod other events: Yes (Whatever's fair game, but don't godmod scoring events, don't kill anyone w/o my permission, and no COVID/pandemics to effect Banija/any Banijans. Otherwise, have at it!)
Use DH at home: Yes
Style Modifier: -3
Park Factor: 75
Other: When we are pitching, they induce a lot of ground balls. The strike out rates aren't terribly high for Banijan pitchers, but they play solid, fundamental defense, and they have strong arms all over the diamond. However, while Banija's rotation is one of the strongest in the multiverse, the bullpen leaves much to be desired, especially the middle relievers, who are well known to be the team's weakest link. For the knockout stages, we'll have one starter in the 4 man rotation available every game for an inning or two out of the bullpen. That is listed in the rotation. If those guys are brought in, it is for an absolute maximum of 35 pitches, however many outs that takes.

Third Base/Infield: 20 Lyle Menifee
Hitting Coach: 49 Chad Rossinger
Pitching Coach: 36 Calen George
Bullpen Coach: 58 Kyle Lund

STARTING PLAYERS
C: 4 Matt Lopez (rocket-armed, great defensive catcher, not a great threat offensively)
1B: 10 Cody Frazier (Sarzonian gold Glover on defense, line drive hitter who hits well for average and can occasionally go yard)
2B: 11 Ian Danielson (speedster, led Sarzonia with 64 steals in 92 games. Hit a career-high .326 with 11 homers)
SS: 5 Christine Andersen (Only committed three errors with a fielding percentage of. 992)
3B: 32 Jose Garcia ( Hit a career low .240 with 15 dingers. Sat out the last month of the season with nagging injuries)
LF: 19 Jodie Schein (hit .298 with 12 Homer's. Good at sacrifice hits and bunts)
CF: 16 Ryan Brady (five-tool player who led the league with a. 348 average. Hit 26 homers)
RF: 24 Kenny Evans (here for his rocket arm in right. Only had four assists because baserunners don't challenge him. They know better. Hit 20 home runs in 99 games)
DH: (also a pinch hitter/backup first baseman) 44 Luke Brinkley (He's here for his bat, plain and simple. He hit 22 homers in 61 games after being traded to an Incorporated League team, which uses the designated hitter. Hit four in 24 games beforehand)

SS/3B: 13 Art Mannigan
UT: 6 Desmond St. John
OF: Matt Sain
OF: Frank Spencer

STARTING ROTATION:
34 Jeff Parrish (LHP; hard thrower with a plus fastball and a terrifying slider. His change up is too close in speed to his fastball to be effective)
41 Mark Conroy (RHP; hard throwing, nasty curveball, devastating change; slider is hittable)
29 Jamie Pearson (RHP; Primarily a sinker-slider pitcher who thrives on keeping the ball down. Tends to do worse when he strikes out a lot of hitters)
55 Brian Lynch (RHP; Throws a lot of offspeed and breaking balls, but can sometimes bring his fastball to the mid-90s in a tight situation)
53 Alton Long (LHP; Relies on keeping the ball down and having impeccable control. Like Greg Maddux in his prime, but as a lefty)

BULLPEN
30 Dima Ostrelov (LHP; can give three or four innings so he'll be the lefty long reliever. Mixes speeds and has a Andy Pettitte-quality pickoff move)
43 Alfred Wagner (RHP; he throws mid-to-upper 90s, but runs out of gas after about 50 pitches, so he typically pitches as the righty long reliever)
47 Carnie Weston (RHP; she relies on control and keeping the ball down. Typically pitches in a middle relief role)
50 Myron Daniels (LHP; Fastball/slider/curve, often used to get one lefty hitter out)
15 Scott Lassiter (LHP; fastball, curve, slider pitcher, often used as a setup pitcher. Can close if needed)
49 Tyrell Douglass (RHP; fastball typically in the high 90s to low 100s; also throws a change up. He typically closes)

Starting lineup w/o the DH:
Danielson
Schein
Brady
Evans
Frazier
Andersen
Garcia
Lopez

The Nordic team is back for the WBC! After being swept in the round of 32 last time this team is looking to make it farther and make it to the round of 16 and possibly further than that. The mentality is mostly the same as the last few cycles, take what the pitcher gives you and get on base in whatever way you can. Smallball, in other words but some of the players can hit for power. The team is not afraid to bunt to get on base. There has been some shakeups in this years line up, Soren Vang has decided to retire from international baseball and focus on his club career, which will be a big loss in the clubhouse because he was a leader. Also, manager Kaj Eriksen has decided not to bring back closer Amanda Engberg which has made a lot of the fans happy. Sebastian Haas has been brought in as the closer after a great year in the Nordic Baseball League, He is young but he can really close out a game.

Lineup: Ardoya, Kujala, Dawson, dos Santos, Rudock, Banks, (pitcher), Komarov, Vanjie
DH Instructions: David Smith will play DH and bat sixth, pushing Banks down to seventh.
Lineup Notes: Ardoya is a prototypical speedy lead-off hitter, while Kujala has versatility in making contact and either getting on base or advancing Ardoya.
Dawson is the power hitter of the team, but he has very good plate discipline and it is a priority for Elfentanz to get him to bat in the first inning.
dos Santos and Rudock are of similar power and average quality to each other, but inferior to Dawson; their role is less to "clean-up" and more to continue to move runners along the bases.
Banks is a strong hitter but presents a slight logjam on the basepaths.
Delaclav pitchers always hit in the leagues and are accustomed to, and skilled at doing so. Therefore, a pinch-hit situation is rare except in a close game where someone like Smith or Ben-Haim could provide an offensive boost.
Elfentanz has also stacked the bottom of the order with Komarov, a strong all-around hitter, and Vanjie, a "second leadoff man" of sorts.

I may add some player bios later, but some quick notes for now:
  • The Mariana Dolphins are the reigning Southeastern Baseball League (SBL) champions. They defeated the Victoriana Falcons in the championship series.
  • Bedin Egozhevy is the last remaining member of the WBC49 team who came from the remote island of Hess to make the Round of 16. Albar Ardoya is the last remaining member of a similar Mersatha regional team that competed in the AO Baseball Series.
  • Racette, who hails from the territory of Firinsymnia, is also the 5th-rated soccer striker in Delaclava. He currently plays for Umbar (CMT) and the Delaclava national team. His mother, Genevieve, is the athletic trainer.

Home venues
Series 1 vs. Equestria - Field of Wrath (72,000), Styx, Inferno Islands (Note: This is an overseas territory noted for its consumption of horse meat.)
Series 2 vs. Eshialand - Tomahawk Park (24,000), Kitsuartat (The people in this half-rural sprawl, half-college town enjoy shooting owls.)
Series 4 vs. Ranoria - Buq de Guerre (65,000), Quinniville
Series 8 vs. Venmere - Tomahawk Park (24,000), Kitsuartat
Series 10 vs. Sarzonia - Insanium Uranium Field (31,500), San Salvacion

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: No, see above
Follow my pitching rotation: Yes. As Racette is occasionally used as a fourth starter, I may publish ahead of time which starts he will receive
Godmod scoring events: Maybe - I do like some quirky but TG/DM me if it's particularly outlandish. Please be respectful/sportsmanlike
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but not severity
Godmod injuries to my players: Same as "godmod scoring"
Eject my players: No, that is not typical in Delaclav baseball, and managers especially do not believe in the performative ejections that so many MLB managers love
Godmod other events: Same as "godmod scoring"
Use DH at home: Designated hitters will be arrested on sight when entering Delaclava. (Kidding. But no.)

Once upon a time, Geoff Yancey's biggest questions were whether he could cut it as a manager, whether he could get back in the swing of things after managing an academy for a few years and not putting on the stirrups and other elements of a baseball uniform.

He'd been named the manager of the Sarzonian national baseball team that was making its way back to competing in the World Baseball Classic after years away. But even before he assembled the players chosen to represent Sarzonia in the Classic, he had one bit of business to attend to. Namely, reconnecting with an old friend, former Stars manager Khalil Dennis and his husband, actor Calen McSuthern.

He'd been forbidden to attend their wedding by his now-ex wife Karen; in fact, that precipitated his decision to divorce her. She'd wrangled custody of their children from the court, but now that both sons were adults, they'd moved out and started their own lives. They'd stayed in touch with Geoff Yancey, with Kenneth bringing Geoff's grandson KC to visit Grampy several times a year. Paul, for his part, also brought his own son Geoffrey Khalil to visit Pop Pop. As for Karen? Neither child had met their grandmother. And the last time either Kenneth or younger son Paul saw their mother was the latter's graduation from university.

Those thoughts came back to mind as Yancey looked out as his players started their stretches on the practice fields outside Fleetwood Park. It was now his fifth World Baseball Classic. He and his Stars team were no longer the great unknowns. The Stars qualified for the knockout rounds in each World Baseball Classic he managed and showed progress for the most part. Last Classic saw the Stars adroitly avoid the minefield of upsets to advance to the semifinals, where they fell to the eventual runners up in South Newlandia. They defeated Sherpaland in the third place series to give Sarzonia a bronze medal and the world's No. 2 rank.

Yancey and Sarzonia's Incorporated Baseball Federation decided not to make any changes to the roster after the team's improbable run to the semifinals. According to a statement from the IBF Board of Governors, they were pleased with the team's progress over the four Classics, from unranked to 28th to 10th, then fifth and now second.

"We've continued to progress well with the present roster and with tinkering as we've needed to," Yancey said. "Sarzonia Baseball (the colloquial name for the IBF) has essentially decided to operate on the notion of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'." Even though teams whose home matches do not permit use of the designated hitter will essentially force Sarzonia's biggest bat onto the bench?

"We'll find a way to make things work," Yancey said. "We're not a one-dimensional team by any stretch of the imagination."

And now, Yancey noted the results of the group draw grimly. There was Delaclava, not managed by his old friend Khalil, but instead it would be Deneil Elfentanz who was calling the shots in the Phoenixes dugout. After another classic series that included a dramatic three-run homer by pinch hitter Cody Frazier to win Game 5 with the Stars down to their last out, the Stars once again had history with their southern neighbours.

More to the point, the Stars would have their first home series against Ranoria. The Stars and the Krauts were meeting on the baseball diamond after the indoor gridball Stars knocked the Krauts out of the Arena Bowl playoffs and the ice hockey Stars closed the door on qualifying for Ranoria in the current World Cup of Hockey. The Stars would play their first series away to unranked Venmere. Following that was the home series against Ranoria, then an away series to emerging sporting power Eshialand. After a break, the Stars will then travel to Equestria before a home series against the Phoenixes.

His Stars may not be the champions or the No. 1 ranked team in the baseball playing multiverse, but they still were going to get a lot of teams' best shots. And even though the next highest ranked team in the group was 21st ranked Equestria, the three-match sweep at the hands of 16th ranked Tikariot at Fleetwood Park still stuck in Yancey's craw. Certainly, motivation to avoid an embarrassing result like that was going to be high among his players.

The fact that Sarzonia's final series will be in Delaclava was of particular interest to Yancey.

"We're hoping to do some visiting down there," he said. "Though I hope we don't run into Taurus Wright while we're there."

Well then, here we are for another World Baseball Classic with the 52nd Edition, like our counterparts in the IBC, being hosted by Chomatika, Last time out, we reached the playoffs for the 3rd consecutive season but fell in the Round of 16 to Hapilopper, the team now just above them in the current WBC rankings. The Jags are now 8th in the world with Banija the defending champions at 1 and with both Cassadaigua and Nova Anglicana outside the Top 3, this WBC is going to be really interesting indeed. Can Banija keep their crown? Can Sarzonia or South Newlandia challenge them? Will the Lions and Dagans strike back? Or can either Team Hapilopper or the Battin' Jags go deep once again in the playoffs? Only time will tell for this ageing team and with talks about a potential IBS entry making the headlines, Phillip Hellas-Verona knows time is running out to make the most of the original unit of players...

BALLPARKS
Rounders Field, Portside, JB TJUN-ia (40,000)
Image

Named after an English (U1) game similar to Baseball, Rounders Field is considered by many to be the home of TJUN-ian baseball. It has a retractable roof if the threat of rain is present, while also containing modern amenities. Don't worry about the "artwork" near centre field - that is a tribute to the varied wildlife of both Portside and TJUN-ia. The away changing rooms will still be looked at by a jaguar with the following message:
YOU ARE ENTERING THE JUNGLE
FAIR PLAY SHALL BE OBSERVED HERE AT ALL TIMES
IF NOT, THE CROWD SHALL EAT YOU ALIVE

The crowd here are known for not taking foul play lightly, and this message gives a warning of that to any opposition. TJUN-ia wants to play fairly and the message hopes that the opponent plays fairly too.

The Diamond in The Gardens, New Washington, NAU Zone (42,000)
Image

The Diamond in The Gardens is located in "The Gardens" - a major sporting complex in the NAU Zone capital of New Washington. Just down the road from Gridiron Football's Field of Dreams, it has the traditional ivy as part of the entire back wall - a sign that you are in The Gardens. Built based on classic ballparks in U1 and U2, modern amenities are present within this old-style park. It has 2 modern scoreboards and 1 manual one, which will be used to display the scores across the tournament. Unlike their counterparts in Portside, fans here don't really care about "fairness" and "sporting equality" - they just want to watch some baseball. These confines are certainly friendly and the fans are known for enjoying the game no matter if the home team is winning or not.

Daskel National Baseball Team

Full team name: Daskel National Baseball Team
Trigramme: DKL
Nicknames: Daskies
Home Stadium: Daito Kyūjō (Daikyū)
Colors: co co co co

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: No. Line-up selected here
Follow my pitching rotation: Follow pitcher rotation
Godmod scoring events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: You may declare injuries. I will decide how bad it was or what body part was injured)
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Eject my players: Yes (Through in Daskelian baseball is extremely rare, as discipline is very much the norm in sports. Proceed with caution)
Godmod other events: Yes if it's exciting and credible
Use DH at home: No. DH is currently not used in Daskelian Baseball
Other: Daskel's baseball is based on a small ball technique, so expect bunts and stolen bases. Kishimoto has crazy good bunts, and he's quick as a chettah, so he can pull up the bunt and run quite well.

Daito Kyūjō
Team Overview

After the disaster of the last WBC and the departure of An Takashi, Sakamoto Hiroshi took full control of the national daskelian team. With the new coach, the squad had many changes. 5 players from the DPY were selected and will debut in this edition. The spotlight is Itō Makoto and Sasaki Daisuke, from Daito Metros and Kuji Pioneers, well known for their speed on bases. For the first time, the team will add Kanno Kentarō, the reliable catcher of Hozen Zenith, as the 3rd catcher of the team.

The Daskies play in the Daito Kyūjō, one of the biggest and oldest stadiums in the country. the "Daikyū" has a capacity of 60.000 attendants. Its trademark feature is the all-dirt infield.

Baseball in Daskel

Baseball is one of the most dominants sports in Daskel. However, baseball history didn't start with it's professionalization, but with a rapidly developing high school baseball federation. Baseball in Daskel started around 1909, when the sport arrived to the coasts of Kuji Bay. Since it's insertion, it spread through every prefecture of Daskel, creating a vibrant culture of colors, sounds and, of course, loads of baseball. The natural course of the activity lead to the creation of the "Federation of Daskelian High School Baseball", who watch over pesky head coaches, rough kiddos, and tiger parents who strive to see their children turn into the next professional baseball phenomenon.

The National Tournament is held every year in November, start of the Daskelian Summer. In that tournament, 30 schools teams battle in the burning sun, not only defending the pride of their high school, but also the pride of their entire prefecture. It's usual occurrence that other prefecture teams cheer for their final representative, in and out the stadium.

One big custom of Daskelian baseball is to bow in front of opponents before and after the game, and we'll absolutely see that in this tournament. Watch out for daskelian fans! They know how to make a good atmosphere, bringing music and entire brass bands to the stand.

Nova Anglicana Roster: WBC 52

Starting Rotation (order as given)
RHP #44 Rex Boyd, 33 - sits 95, but can ramp up to 97-98 if needed, throws a slider and a changeup as well
LHP #19 Christian Hammond, 27 - known for his big bender that arcs into the strike zone, but fastball is more than respectable, 94-96 but can reach back for 98 at times, broke onto the scene by developing a tight slider, changeup excellent fourth pitch
RHP #56 Rocky Gantt, 28 - pops the glove at 96-97, devastating slurve, good changeup and average cutter help him against lefties
RHP #36 Jonathan Drake, 27 - nice, easy, repeatable delivery that gives him a low-effort mid-90s fastball that can be ramped up if necessary, throws a slider and split change as well
LHP #20 Joshua Rouillard, 24 - a wizard on the mound, throws just 92-94, but has two-seam, four-seam, and cut varieties of fastball, while curveball, screwball, changeup, and slider give him a lot of different off-speed looks

Bullpen
LHP #57 Branford Bass, 24 - big-bodied guy at 6'3, 230, not overwhelming at 93-95, but hits his spots and mixes in a good curve and slider, will work in long relief
LHP #48 Dallas Hawkins, 31 - lefty has developed into a strong closer, features a 96 MPH fastball with a biting slider and tricky curve
LHP #46 Grant Graham, 30 - former starter now a lefty specialist, throws his dangerous curve close to 50% of the time, most of the rest is a fairly hard fastball with a change and slider just to give hitters an occasional change of pace
RHP #38 Ricky Hart, 25 - throws just two pitches, a slurve and an upper-90s fastball, but it's a devastating combo
RHP #16 Caleb Sherman, 24 - as a starter, has four offerings of at least league-average (fastball, curve, slider, change), but as a multi-inning reliever, expected to rely heavily on 95-97 fastball and 12-6 curve
RHP #11 Justin Chandler, 26 - violent delivery means he almost falls off the mound as he pitches, but he sits 98 with a dynamite slider, not much else
RHP #43 Roger Bizet, 28 - Bizet is kind of an anomaly, chucking mid-80s sliders from a sidearm slot over 70% of the time, but fastball is 92-93 and can pull out a change against lefties too
RHP #30 Cody Brock, 32 - sits 100, throws a changeup at 87 that is tough to handle, and his slider is 91 as well, control issues
RHP #23 Eric Norton, 30 - the kind of guy that rears back and lets loose, 4-seam at 98-99, 2-seam at 94-95 that dives back over the outside corner to righties and dives just out of the zone low and away to lefties, hard slider at 90, decent change, also good control

C #60 David Conner, 24, (S/R) - a do-it-all guy, framing, arm, blocking, average, and power, speed is below average, but has worked on his patience
C #18 Curtis Hughes, 31, (R/R) - below-average receiver, but he has power for days and is the best-hitting catcher in the league
C #51 Daniel Hunter, 28, (R/R) - a nuclear deterrent behind the plate for runners, already an excellent game-caller as well, offense will likely never be better than below-average, defensive replacement and occasional starter for this team

1B #21 Erik Austin, 31, (S/R) - bat speed is incredible and he has .300/.400 potential, power is growing, an above-average defender at first, and can play third if needed
3B #26 Barrett Satterfield, 28, (S/R) - first thing you notice about him is his booming, sometimes inappropriately loud voice, can be goofy but motivator and cheerleader in chief, beyond off-field skills, combines spray-hitting approach with solid arm and quick feet, has tapped his substantial raw power
SS #11 Luke Mills, 33, (S/R) - former #1 overall pick out of high school, outstanding fielder, but his hit tool has really taken off, good power for a SS, a national team fixture
2B #6 Nolan Dunning, 27, (L/R) - slick fielder can man short or second, though better at second, quick bat who hits for a high average and draws a good number of walks, though not much power, very fast
CI #50 Vincent Saint-Denis, 24, (R/R) - he's here for raw power, lot of swing-and-miss in his game, but crushes the ball when he makes contact, sneakily good on defense
IF #27 Davis Shipley, 25, (R/R) - hit tool is below-average but developing, presently great at adding value outside of his bat, silky smooth in the infield, makes throws from anywhere, good eye at the plate, more of a smart baserunner than speed demon

OF #25 Joey Keller, 30, (R/R) - features a solid arm and good range in left, athletic power bat who has found his plate discipline, 30/15 guy
OF #35 Hank Oliver, 25, (S/L) - whiz kid makes highlight-reel plays in center, great jump/first step means he has tremendous range, arm is fair, doesn't hit for a terribly high average or power, but draws a lot of walks and steals/takes the extra base whenever possible
OF #29 Sam Erickson, 26, (R/R) - has a tremendous arm while also showing off above-average range for right, power most notable part of offensive game, solid speed, will hustle, take the extra base, situational hitter when needed
OF #24 Gary McKinney, 22, (S/R) - standout tool is batting average and control, very difficult to strike out and can hit it anywhere, good foot speed and can play any outfield position, arm average, needs to take more walks and hit for more power
UTIL #40 Dusty Davidson, 33, (S/R) - Davidson is a super-utility guy, tall enough to play corner infield, quick enough to play middle infield, and fast w/a good enough arm to play any outfield position, will steal bases, draw walks, and play good defense, not much power, middling average

Mark Singleton #55 (Manager)

Jay Garrett #1 (Hitting Coach)

Nick Berry #47 (Pitching Coach)

Dale Garner #9 (1st Base Coach)

Eli Nelson #8 (3rd Base Coach)

Casey Cain #15 (Bench Coach)

Team Zwangzug, known as the "Zebras," were an early force in the WBC but have since faded from relevance. They competed consistently through WBC31, reappeared for 39 and 40, and then popped back again in cycle 49, having entered the last few since then. Happily, the 39-40 cycle saw Felix Wainwright break the alleged radio announcers' curse. This doesn't mean we'll necessarily have competent announcers, or any announcers at all; just that we could have some capable of holding down the job for multiple cycles. If we wanted to.

Like their distant ancestors, the Zebras are a defensively-minded team overall, eschewing many power hitters in favor of patience at the plate. Pitchers, likewise, tend more towards finesse than speed. There is no DH used at our home stadium, the Worm Hole (located in Spenson). They tend to be somewhat new-mathy with regards to not bunting, not stealing very much, etc.

Factbook is ludicrously out of date by now and just linked for tradition's sake. More information about the country is available on the wiki and is sporadically being added to. If you RP first, please follow my lineup and rotation (or ICly justify any substitutions). Feel free to pick my runscorers, RP injuries to my players, and eject my players. You can be relatively creative; however, if you want to do something like literal godmoding, or something that would cause harm to my citizens/in my country, please telegram me first.

BARNETTSVILLE BLUE JAYS

Oh, what a twisted history for this team.

For those that know, I don't have to explain. (Zwangzug, Newmanistan, Cassadaigua specifically. Not calling you out, just honoring your longtime achievements.) For those that don't - probably most of you - a quick history lesson. This team is in its second incarnation as Barnettsville, after having been Lycrabon in between. As I said, confusing a little bit.

In the entire time as both, the Blue Jays have:

- hosted 2 Classics (17 and 24), including the first ever 0-3 title win;
- won WBC 20
- and made a consistency of falling in the quarterfinals (8 of them, I think).

That being said, the Jays are like Charlie Brown. Keep failing, keep getting comebackers that knock our clothes off, come back for more. With that, the returning Barnettsville Blue Jays:

Sevendian roster for WBC52

What is a Sevendia?
Good question. Sevendia is a small, seven shaped country in Sonnel. At about 777,777 inhabitants, it isn’t a big or relevant nation. Sevendia rarely joins international sports, possibly because international sports don’t involve enough sevens to their liking. Everything is 7 in Sevendia. This is not an over exaggeration.

This is a meme puppet. Do whatever floats your boat. Kill ‘em, ‘slice em, dice ‘em, make them a farmer in remote Ko-oren, I don’t care. Go have some fun. (And no DH rule for this nation.)

Roster:

Coaching staff:
Seven-Seven Seventy-Seven (49)
The coach with the admittedly non-ideal name is responsible for all of the team. There are no other coaches. Due to the complexity of his name, he is mostly referenced as “91”. He is also the father of Sejal-Seven, the team’s shortstop. He previously got the team to 14 wins in WBC50, and got the football team to 3rd place at the 7NC2, and the Sevens team to the final of the Bowl of the 6th Rugby Sevens World Cup. Yes, he coaches those teams as well.

Pitchers:
SP1 Sebastian-Seven Rottesven (34, L)
SP2 Sean-Seven Proven (33, R)
SP3 Seamus-Seven Muggeven (28, R)
SP4 Seth-Seven Zouven (38, R)
RP1 Serge-Seven Sjodeven (39, R)
RP2 Sefton-Seven Dragonven (28, S)
RP3 Selvin-Seven Iöderhven (25, S)
RP4 Seward-Seven Steakeven (44, R)
In Sevendia, pitchers are always male. None of them are any good. Just throw them around how it is convenient for you.

Field players:
C Sela-Seven Loveveven (28, R) (this is spelled correctly (all the names are, trust me))
1B Sera-Seven Poven (36, R)
2B Seira-Seven Hulven (22, L)
SS Sejal-Seven Seventy-seven (30, R)
3B Selin-Seven Uhlmeven (36, S)
LF Seanna-Seven Joudlven (34, R)
CF Selena-Seven Gomeven (25, S)
RF Semina-Seven Ölddrawven (38, R)
Field players are always female in Sevendia. This is the batting lineup, pitcher at the end. If they are forced to play with a DH, the pitcher does that anyway.

Reserves:
C Selvia-Seven Ähven (24, L)
IF Sebrina-Seven Juuven (35, L)
OF Serlina-Seven Sulsven (49, R)
U Selestine-Seven Donewithven (53, R)

Things you probably should know

All (adult) people in Sevendia are seven foot. Always.
In every sentence, people currently being in Sevendia are required by law to use all the letters of the word seven (e, n, s, v) in every sentence they say.
The answer is always seven. No matter the question.
Everything that could theoretically be seven-shaped is seven-shaped.
Everything that can’t be seven-shaped is also seven-shaped.
All objects are required to have a 7 on them, including everything.
Seven.

The Stadium

Seven (77,777)
Building a stadium of those proportions was a very bad idea. For most games, the stadium isn’t remotely close to being full. Seven, located in the capital (Seven) will host all of the games. This stadium is also built in the shape of a seven, with the short side behind the outfield and the long side going along the side of the field, about up to third base.

Good luck, and I’m sorry.

National Athearan Baseball Team For WBC 52

Type: Roster
Time: -

Baseball was only discovered by Atheara after their exposure to the outside world after their self isolation. So why would Atheara send a baseball team for the World Baseball Classic, despite the fact that there isn't even a sports organization for baseball in Atheara? No one knows. But, the Imperial Council thinks this is a good way to give Atheara exposure to new sports. There is no infrastructure, only a few actual good players, it seems joining this tournament was useless. But who knows? Maybe Atheara can make a small surprise.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name : Atheara
Trigramme : AHR
Affiliation : Anaia
Style Mod. : +1 (If used)
Nicknames : Night Watchers (full), Watchers (informal)
Stadium : Coldstone Park (78.900)

Image

Originally supposed to be what would be a football stadium, in half of it's way of development, it was said the stadium turned into a baseball stadium. It was used several fair few times after it's building, but never saw use other than that from the Athearans that would like to play baseball as their hobby. But when the Imperial Council stated that they would join the WBC, was this what they meant? Only time can tell, but as we know of it, this is the home stadium for the Athearan Baseball NT.
