The Rising Tensions

In the beginning of 1936, the World was a peaceful place. The German Kaiserreich stood as the sole superpower. It's enemies, Russia and the Third Internationale, were broken by the Erste Weltkrieg, and the other countries which antagonized it, such as the Entente or Japanese, were far away from the mainland. Kaiser Wilhelm II had, at that point, mostly retired, and let the Chancellor(who was at that point practically appointed by the Reichstag) to rule. Their citizens were rich, uninhibited by the economic struggles of the United States of America. Their puppets and colonies were compliant. Everything was so great, some suggested that in a hundred years, the whole world would be German.

Everything changed, however, on February 3rd. That day, the Berlin stock exchange plummeted, sending the German Empire into chaos. The German Empire was thrown into disarray. Its Indochinese colony rebelled, beginning the Indochinese war and leaving the colony vulnerable to the Japanese. Hermann von Goering's embezzlements grew in size, before it came to light, resulting in Goering being fired and fleeing to Brazil, with Rudolf Asmis, the new Statthalter, beginning his attempts to pacify the nation. America was hurled into a four-way civil war, which lasted until 1939. China balkanized more, and fought itself for the next two years. The Spanish fell into a civil war. Egypt and its allies fought the Ottomans. The Fourth French Republic in Algeria threw of Petain, and became led by De La Rocque. And worst of all for the Germans, Russia and the Third Internationale, unaffected by the crisis, threw off democracy firmly(except the Italians), becoming authoritarian states, in particularly Britain.

The Deluge

Regardless, the Reich was somewhat recovering in 1939. The economy was on a road to recovery under the new Chancellor(appointed by the emperor but approved by the Reichstag and Bundesrat, due to the 1936 Kanzlergesetz amendment), the revolts in their puppets and colonies were more or less quashed, and Japans invasion of China was not feared. However, on July 23rd, 1939, an ultimatum was sent, from the Commune of France, demanding Alsace Lorraine. This was after they were allowed to devour a good chunk of Switzerland. The Kaiser rejected the demand, resulting in a French declaration of war. Russia jumped in, however, surprising Germany, who didn't expect them to do it so soon. The Second Weltkrieg had begun.

For the first two years, Germany held the French, slowly retreated from the Russians(besides the minor victory over the Lithuanians in the beginning), and abandoned East Asia, where Hellmuth von Mücke, all alone, held on to whatever land he good with whatever resources he had. Australasia helping the Third Internationale made things even worse. Ireland was invaded as well, being occupied and loosing the North. Its government in exile was assassinated in 1942 by Mosley's spies. The Austrians, the Italian Republic, and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies did join, but in the beginning, they simply protracted the Italian war. only when the Entente joined did the war begin turning in favor of the Reichspakt, creating a partnership which was eventually christened the European Coalition. Even then, however, the war in Italy barely moved until 1944, and the Canadians were invaded in 1943 by the Union of Socialist States of America, which had mostly finished reconstruction, with the Germans being powerless to stop the Americans and the National French making peace following Edward's flight and Prime Minister Mackenzie King's capitulation.

In 1944, however, after the National French held onto whatever ports they could over the two years since the first naval landing, and the Germans reaching Paris for the third time in under a century, the Commune of France capitulated, followed by the Italians. Mosley held out, offering peace(which made sense, given the old British monarchy was almost certainly not going to be restored at this point) but the Reichspakt and remaining Entente members cried for blood. Britain was invaded in the largest naval operation in history, with 300,000 troops from both sides. After a million more lives lost by Mosley's Scorched Earth policy and his troops fanatical resistance, London fell on September 2nd. Mosley had fled, but his journal was found, as well as plans to eventually lock down Britain from the outside world, with enough cameras being made in 1943 and early 1944 to place on a third of Britains streets. Scotland declared independence, and Wales followed suit. England's legislature capitulated soon after.

The Russians were being pushed back, by the Germans and the Russian Free Army, which rose up near the start of the war. On October 2nd, the Reichspakt and Co-Prosperity Sphere signed a peace deal, where Germany let Japan and Thailand "occupy" most of their colonies, which Japan turned into puppets or annexed a few days after the deal became effective. A similar deal was signed with the Australasian Union, except this time Germany occupied and later annexed their lands, following Mücke's successful defense of New Guinea. Savinkov surrendered unconditionally on October 25th. Russia's central asian occupation ended as Iran quickly occupied a few border provinces and the Emirate of Bukhara, Khanate of Khiva, Turkestan Republic, and Alash Orda declared their independence. The Russian people rose up, bitter at the government, and the Germans recognized Boldyrev as rightful ruler on November 20th after he entered Petrograd, with the Second Russian Republic being declared. The Second Weltkrieg was truly over.

Epilogue

And so, begins a new era in Earth's history. As new technologies are made, such as rockets which may soon reach space, weapons which may obliterate entire cities, and cures to diseases considered incurable, as new wars are being waged, as movements for change, balance, or reversion to the past fight, as new friendships and rivalries occur, which of the main three factions will come out on top? Which nations will secure their own small region in the world? Which nations will be blown into irrelevance? And which will go into the dustbin of history? Will the Germans survive the Burning Sun, and will it always shine pleasantly on Japan? Will the suns rays reach France and America? Time will tell, regardless if humanity is still there or not.

Rules

1. Begin your lore of from 1936, and go from there. People that follow ideologies which never became popular in Kaiserreich, like Trotskyism, Nazism, and seemingly Technocracy, are fine, but having them , or anyone with little to no sources on them, in power at game start(unless it can happen in Kaiserreich) is pretty impossible. After start, however, it will occasionally become a possibility.

2. When fighting wars, only decide the outcome of non-decisive battles. Offensives and major battles will be decided in news reports.

3. Unless a nations government and leader have been specified at start, you can have your head of state and government be whoever you want, as long as it's realistic. However, it can't influence other nations leaders, ideology, or foreign policy, unless they're defunct or unless stated in Kaiserreich (i.e. Germany influences Wales' starting ideology if it released the Welsh), it has to be a nation on the map(recommended nations are just the ones where it would likely be easy too find lore and play), and I decide whether it is realistic. But...

4. If you see anything you consider unrealistic in my reports on player actions or lore, tell me, so I can look over it and change it to be something that can actually happen. If I don't, feel free to start a discussion in the telegrams. Speaking of the reports...

5. Time in IC game is one real is one in-game week. Every two days in the IC, there will be a "news report" summarizing player actions alongside their results, weather(which will play into troop mobility depending on the circumstance), and one or two bits of miscellaneous stuff NPC nations are doing.

6. Be realistic in playing as well. No coups with no built up, with few participants, with inexperienced participants, and/or in stable nations. Take time justifying wars and preparing for them. To increase message encryption or break high encryption, it will take time and a small bit of resources. Do not try to end the whole war from beginning to end in one offensive unless it's been planned out for a few turns and/or it's a smaller country than you, and definitely not one battle unless it's Bhutan or something similar. Don't go to war unless your leader is an explicitly stated warhawk with near unlimited support and/or power. I will tell you if I feel something is or may be unrealistic.

7. You can tell your nations actions in anyway you like. Leaders talking, newspaper articles, speeches, news stories, ordinary citizens experiencing and reaction to them, short bits, or a mix.

8. No insulting other real life players in the OOC. In-universe leaders insulting the actions the actions of other In-universe leaders and gods is fine.

9. No godmodding or metagaming.

10. If you see any mistakes on the map, bias in my judgement, unfairness in my rules(which are subject to change), spelling mistakes in the lore, or you feel I should include new rules, tell me.

11. I'll probably have Co-OPs, who will help in enforcing the rules.

12. You decide the affairs of your nations internal politicians, like governors or princes in Germany's and Somalia's cases, along with your ministers.

13. Reservations last a week.

The Rightful Republic Restored

It's been a few months since the Exiled Government in North Africa reclaimed its rightful Metropole and kicked the Communards out of Paris. President, but in reality is a Military Dictator, Francois De La Rocque is now in the seat of power of the young Fifth Republic. The failed Counter-Revolution of 1919 has been avenged, but the Communards are still plaguing these lands and resist our rule. After the brutal landings of Marseille, Toulon, and Niece that the French and Algerian soldiers held with tooth and nail, sweat and blood against the enemy, after the many lost lives in the Second Weltkrieg, the general populace is apathetic to the new regime, but a light is promised by the New Government, a New Dawn. Henri Mordaq when he usurped Petain from power in 1936, he envisioned the restoration of the Democratic France, yet he didn't live enough for it, neither he saw the potential problems that his successor has to face right now. Francois has two main problems to adress them. One is the question of the Communard Resistance and the Restoration of Democracy. One option is to maintain the Military Dictatorship and deal with the Resistance, but this will anger the Democrats and trigger protests against our rule. A second choice is to Restore Democracy, but risk an increase of Syndicalist Resistance. The Second Problem is the Algeris Question. Many French Exiles promised independence for Algeria and other colonies. Decolonization will weaken us and possibly allow Germany for further expansion into Africa. However, a Promise is a Promise and not respecting will trigger some massive unrest in the colonies. For now, we have to trail the Syndicalist Leadership and quickly secure our borders. The new Republic is standing in a hard place and how it will proceed its next steps is yet to be decided.

The furious general approached Tito.
-What do you imagine ?! This plan is extremely risky. We have already lost to Bulgaria once with the help of Greece and Romania!
- Relax, the plan won't be executed today or even tomorrow. If we manage to get the support of the Americans and the support of the Greeks, Bulgaria will fall.
- What about the Ottoman Empire?!
-We have to take a risk, besides, the Ottoman Empire is like Austria-Hungary, an unstable huge Empire. A match will suffice and it will explode. If the Ottoman Empire joins the Kurds or the Syrians, they will trigger revolts.
-I think you're right ... Anyway, if successful, the Balkans will slowly turn red ...
Letter to America-
Hello, we wish to strengthen ties between our countries. First - We are one of the few socialist countries in Europe, in the region only Greece is Totalistic. We would like you to help us in the event of the intervention of the Ottoman Empire, or in the event of the defeat of our offensive. Thank you for your understanding.
Letter to Greece-
Hello, I would like to discuss the issues of cooperation between our nations: first, if any of us were attacked, the other would come to his aid. Secondly, Bulgaria is our common enemy, together we could defeat it and extend socialism to the Balkans. Thank you for listening

Within France, following the restoration of the Fourth French Republic to the mainland, the mainland has generally been unstable, but it seems this violence has spread to the anti-syndicalists and anti-totalists. Paramilitary death squads have been formed in France, consisting mostly of royalists associated with Action Française, prowl the streets, occasionally breaking into homes to investigate their resides, before shooting them dead if found "guilty". Some local courts have been supporting these killings, raising tensions in France to a boiling point. The death squads have hunted down many real totalists, they have also killed multiple democratic syndicalists and even more innocents. Republican and syndicalists protesters took to the streets, multiple fights have broken out. The death squads have spread to the colonies yesterday, when it was reported many in Algeria and Tunisia were killing both pro-independence activists and supporters of the colonial Native Code, causing both sides to find themselves pitted against a common enemy. It seems the chaos in France won't end anytime soon.

We go to Serbia, one of Europe's far-left holdouts, where the members of the Greek and American delegations have unexpectedly arrived. The American delegation, headed by the affable James S. Allen, arrives first, with Allen and members of the Yugoslav delegation exchanging a chat that was cut short due to the language barrier and seeming emergency of the meeting, but seemed pleasant while it lasted. Ioannis Sofianopoulos and his greek delegation were much quieter, and attempted to hold foreign reporters off from their intrepid questions. The meeting has only begun yesterday, and all members have been quiet on what is happening inside, so any demands and responses to them are not yet clear.

In German East Asia, Admiral von Mücke has begun a plan to divide the region into provinces, with all residents over 25 having equal voting rights for the provincial governors. Mücke states this is a step to having a mostly-native legislature, which will have powers similar to that of the German one. Jubilant natives rushed to the streets, exited that their rights may soon be equal, and the election was called to start on January 12th, and end on June 2nd. In Germany proper, this move was seen as blatant defiance of Berlin by all but a few of the SPDs more left-wing members, with many calling for Mücke's dismissal, and a few rabid colonialists his execution. No response came from the Kaiser, though many who hate the independent-minded admiral admitted his removal could throw the colony into chaos.

News have come from Scotland, as the deadlocked regency council has made a decision on the Act of Settlement. After the people kept venting their fury on the streets and the more inactive members of the Regency Council had grown tired of the others bickering and stepped up, the council put the Act of Settlement to a vote-and repealed it. With this, the Semi-Constitutionalists supporting Rupprecht or his brother Franz, the Quasi-Absolutists supporting Amelie of Portugal, and the Constitutionalists supporting Edward Stanley, 17th Earl of Derby, alongside a few supporters of the minor candidates, scramble to find favors with the Council members that supported either a Windsor restoration or John, 11th Duke of Leeds. Hopefully Scotland sorts its situation out soon, for the people may not have patience.

Discussions of a collective trial for Communard, British, Socialist Italian, and Russian politicians are being discussed. The Germans, Austrians, and even the Portuguese have supported the idea that a unified trial be held to encourage European unity. While the Italian states have rejected it, due to their dislike of each other, the French, Russians, and other members of the Reichspakt and Entente have been silent.

In weather, temperatures are low. Lakes above at least the 40th parallel will experience hard ice, stalling ships that aren't designed to be ice-breakers, and even those would likely be inhibited. The low temperature is expected to continue into February, though this well could change. In addition, a huge earthquake has struck Japan close to the Aichi Prefecture on January 12th. Images of the disaster are rare, and a thousand people perish to the wrath of the spirits and God.

All this shows that the world is a dangerous place, where many innocents perish, and the good are stuck with many enemies against them. Maybe the world will change one day, but right now, that seems unlikely. Until next time, I'm Alexander Sigmund, from Free Radio America.

-Marko, when will we be there?
-In about 15 minutes,- the driver replied
-Okay, everyone knows what to do?
-Yes! - answers a dozen voices.
Fifteen minutes later:
The truck stops, a dozen or so armed men jump out from behind it, open fire on the local militia post, and after a minute the policemen open fire. After a few minutes, everything is over
-Any losses? the commander asks
- "Guitarist" wounded, no one else
-Okay, take him to the truck, me and "Courier" go inside, take the gun and set the building on fire.
-Okay
After a few minutes, the truck drives away while the station is on fire. Together with the flag of Bulgaria.
-Okay, Stefan, take the radio and contact the "top"
-Already...
-After you finish, tell me what they said- replied the commander
-Head, Operation "Red Storm" will be launched soon!
-When?
- They said to check the radio every day, so far they have not given the exact date.
-We need to get ready
Suddenly Marko interrupts the conversation:
-You already have a gun, and some ammunition.
-You are right, but never too much ammo. In addition, we have 2 more posts in the area.
-Okay

The Future of France

As the leadership waits for more and more protests and revolts to intensify from both the Communards and the Colonies, notably the Algerians. Something had to be done, and quick before the situation escalates before the point of no return. For every problem, President Francois de la Rocque has two solutions, a more democratic and peaceful one, or a more authoritarian and violent one. The Government doesn't help with anything with pressing the leader, but finally, Francois announced to Charles de Gaulle that a decision to deal with these issues will be discussed and executed.

January 1945, Paris, Hôtel de Ville

Something had to be done, and finally, President Francois, Charles de Gaule, and other ministers gathered at the Hôtel de Ville to discuss the future actions and how the current issues will be dealt with. The people of Paris, and of all France are waiting to see their leader and what he has to say, but for now, nothing has been decided, yet. Finally, all the guests have arrived in the meeting room. Tension and suspense were quickly filling the air of the room.
"Bonjour gentlemen! Welcome to Hôtel de Ville! Well, as you are all aware, we have to deal with issues such as the Communards and the Algerian Nationalists one way or another. This cannot continue as this is posing a grave danger to our young Republic and her return to its rightful homeland. Any suggestion my fellow ministers?"
*De Gaule gets up*
"Well, I don't have a particular solution to the Algerians, but I'm sure about the upcoming elections and the Communards. The elections must be delayed until they are dealt with, also you should transfer more power to the Military Administration and the Army as a whole to destroy them quicker. We can't let a potential coup attempt happen, not even the slightest."
*the Civilian Administration gets up*
"This is unacceptable Marshall. Democracy must be upheld at all costs. Are you really gonna throw off the promises made for the people? The Syndicalists shouldn't be collectively destroyed, only its worst offenders, the Totalists and Radical Syndicalists. On top of that, the Socialists should be allowed to get into elections, maybe through this, some Communards will calm down and join us. As for Algerians, let's listen to them and find a common solution that will appease both of us."
*Action Francaise also gets up*
"This is outright insane. Mr. President, don't listen to them. If you do what they are told, France will be destroyed before it has the chance to do anything. Allowing the Socialists in elections? Listening to the Algerians? Marshall de Gaule is right. We will risk a coup if we do that. We should crush both the Communards and the Algerians as traitors to the French Republic as they are."
*both the Civilian Administration and Action Francaise are arguing in increasing tension. Not handling this anymore, President Francois beats the table*
"Stop it, all of you. We are here to find a common solution, not fight amongst each other. That's what our enemies are counting for. I already made a decision. I will suspend the elections temporarily until the Communards are dealt with, and as for the Military, I will give them more power and resources, along with paramilitary forces such as Police and Gendarmerie. Also, Mr. Charles Maurras, you should tame your death squads or I will not hesitate to crush them. As for the Algerians, we will crush the Nationalists and for the rest, we will negotiate with them. Au revoir!"

This was a nightmare for the Civilian Administration and the Democracy. The Military Dictatorship will be maintained and her opponents will be crushed under the Iron Fist of President Francois de la Rocque who supported Democracy until now. Military and Paramilitary Units have spread around France and her colonies crushing both Nationalists and Syndicalists may them be French or Algerian, Elections have been suspended angering a lot of French Centre Democrats who hoped that the France of the old will return. On top of that, the Algeris Conference has been violated who promised Freedom for Algeria and the rest of the colonies. In response to the increased aggression, the restlessness has increased among the populace with even more Syndicalists and Algerian Nationalists joining the riots, but the new measures are enough to crush and crack them. Did Francois de la Rocque became what he hated and advocated against it for so long? But it is for the betterment of France, they will all see in the final that all the hardship and sacrifices will be worth it. He couldn't extend the olive branch to the enemies of the Republic, not until its worst offenders are destroyed and the Republic stable.

France becomes a Paternal Autocracy

Within France, the situation appears to be getting grimmer. President Francois De La Rocque has let power, or perhaps fear get to his head, and declared France would not have elections until the remaining communards are dealt with. He also informed Charles Maurras had to disarm his paramilitaries. Most of the paramilitary members obliged, except a few radicals who left Action Francaise and turned to either Bonapartist, Legitemist, National Populist, and even Naundorffist circles, further weakening them by division. The disarmed paramilitaries offered the government assistance in hunting down both Totalists, African Nationalists, and their former compatriots gone rogue. The damage has been done, however, as totalist activity is constrained to Province Alpes-Côte d'Azur and southern parts of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Most in the Savoie and Alpes Maritimes are controlled by Italian partisans by this point, however. Moderate syndicalists and socialists have only fared slightly better in France. Rocque turning on the death squads has caused some republicans, however, to offer aid in hunting down the remaining rogue members. Africans suffered slightly less damage, and many pro-independence movements have moderated due to the government stomping out the paramilitaries, though those that haven't have radicalized further.

In Serbia, the American and Greek delegation leave, more cheerful than before. It seems whatever the Serbians wished for from the two has been accepted. In Serbia however, a raid was reported on a Bulgarian outpost near the border. The Bulgarians have strangely not responded besides a letter to cease and asking the Reichspakt alongside the Entente to sanction Serbia. Instead, they began mobilizing on the Romanian border. The Romanians have begun to do the same, and when asked by another agency, Carol II responded by saying that he believed the Bulgarians would be focused on the Serbs soon. This has led to speculation he contacted Serbia with an offer of a final anti-Bulgarian alliance, though nothing is proven.

In Scotland, the monarch has finally been chosen. In a vote, the Regency Council has voted Amelie of Portugal as Queen of Scots, who took the name Amelia I. In a grand ceremony, she was coronated, thus beginning a new rule in Scotland. Given her nephews absolute tendencies as King of Sardinia, and her ties to Portugals integralist regime, it is likely that Scotland will become a near-absolute monarchy in the next decade, in the vein the Russian Empire was between 1905 and 1917. Regardless, her reign will likely be transitional.

In Armenia, a protest was suppressed by the sitting president. This has drawn condemnation from the Ottomans, the Azerbaijani, the Georgians, the Iranians, and the Mountain Republic. However, most of the world has not responded.

This all shows that the world continues to get worse. It seems a new war may erupt in the Balkans, an absolute monarch sit in Scotland, a dictatorship in Armenia suppresses protests, and France is split between chaos or autocracy. Each week seems darker then the last, and it remains to be seen if democracy lives. Until next time, this if Free Radio America.

One of the generals knocks, and after a few seconds he enters.
-Hello, Josip
-Hello, what brings you to me?
-Everything's fine
-You have new information?
-Yes, Romania has sent an alliance proposal. As you probably already know, the Greeks agreed.
- I know about Greece, but now I have to answer the Romanians as soon as possible. - Josip replied
-That's why I brought the letter,- he replies
-Thank you Janko. Also, get ready for Operation Red Storm. It will start soon.
-I understood
Message to Romania:
Hello, I would like to invite the Romanian delegation to Belgrade. We will be able to discuss cooperation and possibly an alliance against Bulgaria.
Best regards
Josip Broz Tito

*Radio Free America logo appears once again*

In Serbia, another delegation has replaced the old ones-the Romanian delegation. Carol II has decided to visit personally, and caused divided reactions within the Serbian dignitaries gathered there. Given that by now the Serbians have been visited by delegations of two former members of the Belgrade Pact members, it is now near certain another war is being planed, and considering the harsher and harsher penalties for each one, this will likely be the final war. The Bulgarians, interestingly enough, banned travel to and from their country, before withdrawing all units from the Romanian border two days later. No units have been spotted near either Serbia or Greece, though the Austrian border is being staffed with more and more units as I speak.

Chaos in Australasia! The Australasian Leader, J.B. Miles, has been assassinated while touring New Zealand to lower the support of royalists there. The assassin was a member of the Australasian Guard, and his or her identity has not been revealed. His successor is expected to be Lance Sharkey, but many believe other factions, such as reformists, more overt totalists, and the military may inhibit that. The closer followers of Mosley's totalist charter have called on a complete crackdown on New Zealand and installation of martial law there.

In Scotland, a new election is being held for the Parliament, which will begin drafting a constitution. The new queen has founded her own separate party, ignoring her advisors calls to ally either the Scottish Nationalists or Labour party. The parties explicit goal is to ensure the monarchs role in state governance, and it advocates for a monarch-appointed upper house, the right for the Queen to dissolve parliament, the Queen's appointment of the head of government, the creation of government representatives to unions to "prevent revolutionary activity", and defensive treaties with France, among other minor issues. Given it's authoritarian values, a victory is unlikely, but that likely won't stop the Queen from attempting to enforce her rule, alone or with help from either Portugal, France, or Sardinia.

The world has proven to be more chaotic than truly bad this time. War seems on the horizon in the Balkans, which will be a messy affair, Australasia is tearing itself apart, and Scotland will have a competitive election. Regardless, it still seems that no true good is coming, unless Australasia becomes a genuine republic and the Scottish queen looses the election. Until next time, this was Free Radio America.

Radio Tokyo.
Today at 3:36 pm anti-government riots in Tokyo began. 15 minutes later the police fired live ammunition shots, which did not stop the riots. They got to the policemen. The fight began, which ended in a compromising defeat for the police. Protestants soon found their way into some government buildings and into a weapons and ammunition depot. Currently, the Revolutionaries are waiting for a government move to occupy part of Tokyo. Perhaps the military will have to-
-In the radio building you hear shots-
-Shota did you hear that?
-Yes, shoots. We have to run, quick!
2 minutes later, revolutionaries enter the building
-Hey, right here!
-Okay, anyone can handle this?
-I can,
- Then turn on the radio
-Already ... our songs are on, are we shutting down?
* Japanese Communist Songs can be heard in the background *
-Yes.

*Free Radio America logo appears again*

Hello, this is Alexander Sigmund, taking us into the world situation for this report. More chaos in Japan is occurring, this not so natural. Whether due to the authoritarian regime, ongoing war and occupation in China, Indonesia, and Malaysia, the recent earthquakes, or a combination of the factors, left-wing revolutionaries made up largely of communists and social democrats have taken to the streets, and not only that, but have managed to hijack a radio tower in Tokyo. While the tower simply played communist songs, it's seizure and the defeat of policemen around it has caused uproar in Japan, with protestors taking to the streets. Many socialist, communist, social democrats, and syndicalist protestors have surrounded the Imperial Palace and the residence of the prime minister. The IJN-IJA rivalry, which had seemingly been suppressed since the acclamation of both their goals, has reignited, with the army supporting a full-blown crackdown while the Navy supported a reform and a transition to full elections in order to appease the protestors.

In Australasia, a revolt had nearly taken over New Zealand. The locals had attempted to secede and secure a monarchy, with Edward VIII even coming out of his exile to return and lead them. The revolt occurred after Pat Clancy, a young and radical fellow, was elected as leader. Representing the more overt nationalists, he ordered martial law imposed in New Zealand, and due to this, pro-monarchist protests, then riots, and finally a minor rebellion began. The army had stayed loyal, and as Edward VIII assisted the rebels in a battle fought on the outskirts of Auckland, he was defeated. Edward VIII was captured, and many of the rebels were caught, though some managed to escape or flee. Browder's comment is unclear, though it is likely that due to the more nationalist stance of the new party the relations will tighten between the two states.

Australasia isn't the only one to loose a leader. Pshemakho Kotsev, Prime Minister of the Mountain Republic, has also been assassinated by a Russian nationalist partisan, who fled the scene. Currently, the matter is less of ideology and more of nation, however. The President has refused to choose a leader, though it is hoped there will be a clear candidate soon.

In weather, spring is looking notably warm, though this is expected given February was strangely mild. In both Europe and America, temperatures are pretty high. Rain seems absent, however. Some say to much.

Regardless, this week is not as bright as this spring. Violence occurs from Russia to Australia, and everywhere in between. Hope, once again, further diminishes. The only good thing, even if does sound selfish, is that the number of our members is growing. Until next time, this is Free Radio America.

The Brink

In Brazil, instability runs rampant, with pressure from the syndicalists and communists in Brazil becoming quite a problem for Brazil as a whole. After the President was killed by a syndicalist militia, the government had become controlled by the Brazilian military. The syndicalists and communists threaten to revolt and cause a revolution, while Democratic parties are against the emergency government, opting for an emergency election instead of a military controlled government, saying the emergency government is an 'emergency response that is against democracy.' Civil war looms and Brazil is at the brink.

15:00, Brasília Standard Time

Brazilian police head to the scene in Rio de Janiero as mass rioting by the workers and syndicalists have disrupted a peaceful, the rioters chant; "We want a better Brazil, for the workers and not the rich!" Brazilian police are on the ready, prepared to fire on any violence against them.

But then, the rioters start lunging at the police, some throwing bottles and rocks at them. The police have started to ready arms;
"You all are on the count from 5 to stop attacking immediately."
"5,
4,
3,
2,
1."
"Alright, FIRE!!"

GUNSHOTS

The Brazilian police had fired on the rioters, killing about 35 rioters. The rioters continue to fight, rioters have clashed even more violently.

"THE RIOTERS ARE STILL ATTACKING, FIRE MORE!!"

MORE GUNSHOTS

The police continue to fire on the rioters, killing 10 more. The police and rioters are now resorting to full-on violence, as some police kill more rioters, while the rioters still attack, even killing about 7 officer, some rioters loot for guns from stores, firing back on the police, it is uncertain how Brazil would go on from this violence.

Riots in Brazil!

Since last week, what had started as localized left-wing agitation to remove the Emergency Government in Brazil has escalated into violence. Following a left-wing protest in Rio De Janeiro ending with police officers firing in response to possibly being stoned, riots have occurred across the increasingly unstable nation. Primarily centered near the Northern and Southeastern parts of the country, the left-wing agitators seem to be clamoring for a beginning of a syndicalist brazil, though some of them are hoping to simply allow free elections. Similarly, republicans have called for the junta to step down and allow elections, whether under the old constitution, or for a constituent assembly to draft a new one.

Referendum on Icelandic Democracy in Denmark

There has been a rise in Icelandic nationalism lately. The nationalism mostly stems from Icelands isolation, and the belief that it should be its own nation, not governed by a foreign king, even if in a personal union. The government has answered the people's demand's, and called for a referendum on the monarchy. If successful, it would mean Iceland would be completely free of Denmark, whereas now the King does have influence on Iceland's policy, in theory at least. French and Russian Republicans have been the loudest supporters of the referendum passing, though republican movements in other nation's have supported it too.

Democracy in Ecuador

Today is a grand day for the people of Ecuador. The authoritarian military leadership, which has ruled the country for the past several years, has falled. Political parties are sprouting up, and many hope democracy will stay this time around. Some do worry, however, the unstable situation could play into America's hands.

Radio Free America would like to apologize for the delay in broadcasting, as it had to undergo the installation of the four new stations. We apologize for the inconvenience. As a way to sneak my final summation, the world does seem brighter today. While Brazil does have chaos and violence on both sides, the Icelanders have asked for democracy, and Ecuador restored its own. Brazil seems to be growing increasingly violent however, from both sides. Until next time, this is Radio Free America.

Hamburg, The German Empire

Prime Minister Konrad Adenauer is at an Imperial German Army base outside the city of Hamburg observing a live fire exercise from the men and armored vehicles of the 3rd Panzer Division. With the Second Weltkrieg not that far behind them, Konrad was tasked by the Kaiser who took over from his father after the latter's death last October with rebuilding Germany back to its former glory as well as assist his countries allies and puppets in rebuilding as well. His concern right now was rebuilding, Japan and The USAS. While Germany had good relations with Japan, Konrad had this nagging feeling that they were up to something nefarious though what it was he didn't know. He decided to get with his foreign intelligence chief later on to discuss this.

His other worry was the growing socialist threat that has arisen in North America in the form of the USAS. Several of the former British and French islands were now under German rule after German victory in the Second Weltkrieg and each island has had its defenses beefed up as they suspected that the Americans could try something at anytime now.

Dritte Schlachtflotte der Kaiserlich Deutschen Marine

Konteradmiral Günther Wilhelm is standing on the bridge of Germany's newest aircraft carrier Köln watching as her crew went about its business preparing for a potential invasion of Iceland in the coming months. Günther knows that the Americans will take advantage of this situation so the Kaiser and the Prime Minister spoke with him along with other commanders in the Kaiserlich Deutsche Marine, Kaiserlich Deutsche Luftwaffe und das Kaiserlich Deutsche Heer. He turned to Kapitän Karl Bock, "Captain, passen Sie den Kurs auf 275 an. Ich denke, es ist an der Zeit, diesen Amerikanern die Macht der kaiserlichen Bundeswehr zu zeigen."
("Captain, adjust course to 275. I think it is time to show those Americans the power of the Imperial German Armed Forces.")
Captain Bock acknowledged his commander, "Es wird sein, wie Sie sagen." Captain Bock relayed the Rear Admiral's orders to the rest of the fleet which they followed.

Germany Conducts Naval Maneuvers!

Early this week, reports came from the USSA on German activity in the Arctic Ocean, near Iceland. While the original reason was unknown, in the following days, it has been speculated that this had to do with the Icelandic referendum. The Americans said that while they did support Icelandic independence, they were not going to intervene in it. The amount of American ships near Greenland has decreased however, whether out of fear or to deescalate tension. Most of Germany's eastern allies, besides Russia, alongside the British ones, have said the move was a good thing, and General Anton Denikin has supported this. The USGA has said that while the exercise was a good show of force and that perhaps the American presence near Greenland might've been worrying, Danish permission would probably have done well and shown the Americans the solidarity of Europe. Denmark was furious, even though German ships were not in their waters, and said they wish no countries to interfere in their politics. The Swedish had suggested the exercise had nothing to do with Iceland or Greenland, but denied further comment. Other German allies have been silent. However, given the other news this week, this seems like a thankfully small blip.

Australasia Embarks on Major Terraforming Scheme, Edward Windsor Put Under House arrest!

The Australasian Government has announced on Saturday that it wishes to demolish the outback, and make way for population growth. Announcing a major soil cultivation program, and asking the Americans to export more soil to the continent, which the Americans accepted, the plan calls for the Outback and Grasslands to be made habitable by 1960. Environmental activists have denounced the move, but any in Australasia were dealt with. This is expected to cause severe habitat disruption in the Outback, and may cause many species to go extinct. What also caught the eyes of many was that King Edward was not executed. The government instead put him under house arrest, and said that while there are no plans to release him, they did say if he was, he would be educated in the socialist lifestyle.

African Monarchs Ask for Autonomy

In South Africa, the local monarchs of Swaziland, Basutoland, and Zululand have asked for autonomy. Their power gradually taken by the old South African government and the British before, it seems the autocrats have found their chance to have it brought back. They have promised they will allow constitutional assemblies to be elected in order to not have absolutism, and the Zulu Regent has promised his kingdom will only comprise old Zulu lands. Local British and Canadian corporations have supported the autonomy proposal, and Boers have caught on to the chance to ask for their own autonomy, though their demands were weaker.

Political Violence Across Russia
RUSSIA - Although President Vasily Boldyrev has promised the Russian people a better, democratic future, violence has broken out across Russia. There were many violent battles between rival parties, especially between the Rejuvenation League (LO), a pro-German monarchist party, and the Greater Russian National Front (BRNF), an anti-German nationalist party. There were even violence between the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDRP) and the Communist Party of Russia (KPR), both of whom are generally known as Mensheviks and Bolsheviks respectively. The National Association for the Liberation of the Oppressed Groups (NAOUG), a political party advocating for the self-determination of many ethnic minorities in Russia, has vowed to protect minorities from ultranationalist violence. President Vasily Boldyrev has also vowed to clamp down on the recent violence as elections are about to be held in Russia this year, even if it means sending in the Russian Army.

Assassination in the Mountain Republic
MOUNTAIN REPUBLIC - Pshemakho Kotsev, the Prime Minister of the Mountain Republic, was recently assassinated this month. His assassin was apparently a Russian nationalist who subsequently fled the scene. While nothing new came out of this event recently, it has since become a national matter rather than an ethnic one. The President of the Mountain Republic has currently refused to elect a new Prime Minister, although there is hope that a clear candidate would be choosen soon. The Russian government formally condemned the assassination and vowed to help rid both Russia and the larger Caucasian region of NRPR remnants.

The Storming

13:00 Brasília Standard

On the TV, the logo of the Rio Times appears, and the news jingle sounds.

"Hello everyone, I'm Pedro Castro, and this is the Rio Times News."

"Over the last week, a riot with striking workers and syndicalist demonstrators broke out in Rio De Janiero after an attack at the police by a few demonstrators, a few demonstrators died, along with a few police officers. In most cities in Northern and Southeastern Brazil from then to today, workers kept on going on strike, and the call to remove the Emergency Government grows."

"While syndicalists and communists call for a leftist Brazil, democratic parties pressure the Emergency Government to enact an emergency election to 'restore democracy' for Brazil. Some Military Advisors in the Emergency Government also call for an emergency election, saying that a junta will not help the situation in Brazil."

16:00 Brasília Standard

On the TV, the logo of the Rio Times appears again, along with a news jingle, interrupting other TV broadcasts.

"We interrupt this program to bring you an urgent news report."

News Reporter Pedro Castro appears again.

"Hello everyone, this is Pedro Castro, bringing you a special urgent news report."

"Not much earlier, at 15:50 Brasília Standard, another riot broken out between striking workers and the police, this time, near the house of the Emergency Government. The striking workers and syndicalist demonstrators had breached the riot police and had now started to storm the house of the Emergency Government in Rio De Janiero, other demonstrators stormed nearby ammunition and gun depots. The demonstrators and strikers had demanded a syndicalist Brazil over the years and had now started to go to such lengths as a bloody revolution. We will continue to bring you information on the current situation-"

The Revolutionaries had stormed into the news building, gunshots are heard. Pedro has become shocked. Then Pedro walked off camera.

"People, do you guys hear gunshots?" Pedro said, off camera.

"Yes, we have to go, now!" A woman said, as Pedro and the news crew swiftly walked out.

The Logo of the Rio Times appears.

"Excuse the interruption, but revolutionaries had stormed the news building, more info will be broadcasted when this channel is available."

Russia begins anti-nationalist campaign, Anton Denikin announces candidacy

In Russia, political violence has been the norm since the restoration of the Republic. It seems Boldyrev has finally responded, vowing to stop violence by any means necessary, including sending in the army. With the NALO, a ethnic liberation organization, vowing to defend minorities from nationalists, the parties must have grown fearful of what the government itself could do, for political violence has gone down over 50% since the announcement and continuing to fall. Denikin celebrated the move, but believed the army should've been sent in the army immediately and that democracy caused this. He has now announced his intent for being the candidate of the Russian Unity Party, challenging Boldyrev in the primary. Boldyre'vs vowing of destroyign Savinkovist insurgents had been well received, but it seems a good chunk of them fled to Ukraine and the Mountain Republic, spreading chaos there instead.

Occupation of Brazilian Government Building!

A few days ago, Brazilian protestors and rioters had successfully occupied the government building. The capitol police having either surrendered to them or been killed, the building was stormed and its security overwhelmed within the hour. The government fled to an undisclosed location, and began a siege. As activism and violence sprout along the country, with various other local buildings being surrounded, and the capitol under siege, it looks like the Brazil junta is about to collapse, though as long as the army stays loyal all may be fine.

Ottoman Empire Offers Germans Trade Deal!

Today, the Ottomans have revealed they had offered the Germans a huge trade deal of 1 Million Oil barrels per year, for 6 marks per barrel. This is seen by many as an attempt by the ottomans to get closer to the Germans, likely disliking American influence. If successful, it could pressure Bulgaria to reconsider it's policy and ally with the Germans as well.

Reporter-William Williams, Station 5

Liberia gets closer with Germany!

It seems the Ottomans aren't the only one building connections with the Germans. Liberia has offered to allow most of its rubber exports to be sent to Germany, thought the president said he considered offering the deal to the Americans and economic autarky as well. This likely doesn't mean any close partnership, but it offers Liberia a defense against its now-socialist creators.

Official Press Release of the Imperial German Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Due to the recent collapse of the military junta in Brazil, the Kaiser issues a warning to the new Brazilian government that the Imperial German Government will not tolerate any shift towards socialism in Brazil. We call on the Brazilian government to ban all leftist political parties immediately. To our Ottoman and Liberian friends, we would be glad to accept these deals you have offer us. To our European allies the German naval movements southeast of Iceland have nothing to do with the Icelandic referendum. We do not need permission from any government to perform naval exercises in international waters and as such, we demand that the Danish government apologize for falsely accusing the German Empire of interfering in its politics.

El Amanecer Rojo

-Industrial 6 year plan released-
The glorious government of Chairman Tomás Garrido has begun what he has dubbed "El Primer Plan Sexenal" in which over a course of six years the industry of our glorious Worker's Republic will be built up, the first of these plans have been confirmed by the Chairman himself that they'll involve the build-up of the petroleum sector, alongside a build-up of infrastructure around the country, if all goes to plan then millions of people will be employed as factory workers, construction workers, and in other sectors of the economy to be opened up for future plans.

-Crackdown on Religious Traitors-
The legacy of the revolution cannot be risked by the clergy, or by their disciples in the unwashed masses, thus the glorious regime of our Chairman Garrido has been cracking down on the horrid practices of the catholic church, many traitors of the revolution have been imprisoned and for Mexican society to progress the elimination of those who make the masses more ignorant is needed, the church is only a tool of control, and the Pope is only a crook who sits comfortably in a throne of gold, be a hero and tell your local state official of any religious activity, and also, make sure to burn any religious imagery you may own, or formerly owned, in case it cannot be burnt then dispense it at your local government office.

Summary
-The 6-year plan is started with the intent of building an oil industry
-Crackdown on the church

So, uh...we got kicked out of Norway. We barely managed to set up two homemade radio stations at this point. First we wanted to go to Liberia, but we figured their government probably wants to please the Germans and French, so we moved to another neutral country. Anyway, on with the show!

Reporter-Alexander Sigmund, Station 1
Germany Refutes Referendum Rumors, Denmark Apologizes

The German government has stated its exercise had nothing to do with the Iceland referendum, supporting Swedish suspicions that the exercise was a simple show of power. The Danish apologized for the accusations, though an insider reveled the Germans demanded it. This only slightly hurt the German people's support of the naval exercise, however, believing it to have been a great show of force. Many of Germany's eastern allies have praised the move. Despite this, some of the more left-wing social democrats, along with war hero Paul von Lettow Vorbeck, and through the faint sounds of his screaming from the Pacific, Statthalter von Mücke of German East Asia, have said this is a simply a distraction by the Kaiser from the fact elections should be held. Their voices were drowned out in the euphoria and relief no war came of this.

Collapse of Brazilian Junta!

With the pressure building from the Republicans and the syndicalists, the Brazilian Junta ultimately crumbled because of military members turning to the protestors side. A left-leading provisional government has been installed, though quick elections have been announced. The integralists have lost much of their support at this point, as did the social democrats, leaving the political battle between the returned Getúlio Vargas, Otávio Mangabeira, and Minervino de Oliveira, the last being a broadly socialist-syndicalist candidate. The Germans stated they wished for all left-wing political parties in Brazil to be banned.

Mexico Announces Six Year Plan, Cracks Down on Church

Mexico, which has been aligned with the Americans since it was invaded in 1943, has announced a six year plan, likely based of the American version. The plan aims to bring up the petroleum sector and create infrastructure around the country for new employees to work in. This has somewhat angered the rural population, which many believe will cause support to grow for the Zapatista movement. The church has been cracked down on severely, with not only open practice banned, but the demand all religious iconography is either burned or given to the government. This angered many on the right, but with a high estimated job growth after the plans end, it remains to be seen whether the people will be sufficiently distracted.

Bhutan allows journalists in!

Recently, a team of Indian, English, and formerly Canadian reporters were allowed entry into Bhutan. Since its monarchy became increasingly isolationist after Jigme Wangchucks death, it has come as a surprise. The nation is slowly modernizing, though many of Jigme Wangchucks reforms have stagnated. People were somewhat modern clothes, though there are no toilets, armored warriors wander the streets, and nobles hold land alongside serfs. This seems to be a one in a lifetime opportunity to see what many are calling a medieval holdout.

Sudanese Independence Referendum

It seems Iceland has been joined in the nations having referendums by Sudan. The cause of this is disputed, but many believe the Ottomans encouraged Sudanese nationalists, especially the Southern non-arabs, to weaken their Egyptian puppet. The ruler of Sudan if the referendum succeeds is unknown, but will likely be an ottoman or Egyptian family member.

If they reject what is quite likely, we will focus on reaching the partisans and Romania in order to surround the Bulgarian troops closer to the border with Austria, and the Greeks will carry out a landing in the Thessaloniki area in order to capture the city.
-A good plan, General. When will we do it?
-The partisans will start the uprising in an hour, there are probably shootings already. The ultimatum will be sent in 1.5 hours. The orders have already reached the units, including the military, Josip Broz broke in
After a while he smiled
-Forward Comrades, to Sofia!

"Camarada, Miguel, my pa would be terrorized by how our nation has gone, we are at the mercy of a foreign revolution, and the legacy of our revolution in the 1910s has been tried to be erased, we're being controlled by authoritarians at the mercy of Washington, the Ejidos I know re at the search of a new figure to guide them to a glorious future, we must organize, we must rally, we must build ourselves up"

"Mira, camarada Mateo, you simply aren't the same as your dad, he simply was... notable, if we have a second revolution within this century then I think you could prove yourself more, either way, the USSA will probably not stand for it, and I doubt anyone else would help us considering we are but an insignificant leftist movement in Mexico wanting to depose the oppressors of the people..."

El Amanecer Rojo

Act 66, Establishment of the National Guard

Today amidst increasing tensions with religious extremists across the North of the country, and apparently increasing rumors of disloyalty amongst other states of Mexico, the Mexican Worker's Congress has approved our dear leader Chairman Garrido's policy to establish a new branch of the armed forces dedicated to the fight of extremists, and of those who threaten the security of the revolution, and to the people, the "Guardia Nacional" also has a recently appointed General Lázaro Cárdenas at its helm, according to Chairman Garrido he's the best choice or this position.

Summary:

-National Guard is created
-Animosity towards the government grows, with the Cristeros around the northern states, and the Zapatistas confined for now to Chiapas

Okay, so we had to flee Bulgaria this time. You'll see why in a minute. We decided between Albania, Tuscany, and Liberia, this was the best choice. Now, onto the news...

A Fifth Balkan War!
After nearly a decade of peace, it seems the Balkans have descended into violence once again. The Serbians have sent the Bulgarians an ultimatum demanding the shrinking of Bulgaria to borders even smaller than 1914, to which the Bulgarians said no, declared it a violation of their sovereignty, and declared war on Romania, Serbia, and Greece for their association with it. The Romanians had blown up most of the bridges on the Danube, forcing the Bulgarians to wait four days before attacking, though given the speed, the Romanians could only destroy the bridges, but the Bulgarians pushed forward again, and started an offensive to Bucharest a few hours ago after rebuilding some of the bridges. The Romanian coast has been bombarded by ships, and Ferdinand I says his engineers are working on a special bomb to use against Serbia, which he claims will attempt to replicate the Dente Italiano incident. Despite this, the Greek and Serbian fronts have mostly been stalemated, with most of Bulgaria's army fighting Romania, even if about 25% of it is split between Greece and Serbia. The armies primary aim in Serbia seems to be to continue trapping the socialist insurgents, which are encircled right now. Greece attempted a naval landing in Thessaloniki, though it failed after damaging 40% of the fleet in the Aegan. A famous image which appeared was a Bulgarian tank riding out into Greece over a hillside minutes into the war declaration and crushing a border patrol building, with workers being shown inside in the photograph taken during the event, though some fled, including the one who took the picture.

Mexico Founds Anti-Dissident Army

After the backlash towards the recent anti-catholic reforms, Mexico's dictator Garrido decided this danger had to be stopped, and created the Nation Guard. It is a branch of the armed forces made specifically to hunt down all who threaten the revolution. The leader of the group is Lázaro Cárdenas, a fairly left-wing general. However, he has been shut on the issue of the catholic persecution, on the industrialization, or on the natives. Despite his apathy to the catholic question, Cárdenas has decided to focus on fighting the more numerous catholics, breaking into many homes and taking many catholics prisoner, causing many to begin a heavier resistance campaign to avoid persecution.

Australasian Guard Obliterated!

With Clancy securing his regime, Australasia has launched a massive operation against the Australasian Guard, and has succeeded. A huge amount of their members, including the leadership, were arrested. For now, however, the Australasian government has been surprisingly lenient on the national populist insurgents, with the leadership being housed in prison for trial. No one is sure why the Australasian government is(for now), so lenient, though given their response to New Zealand's uprising and reputation prior to taking power, it is uncertain whether this is genuine mercy or a publicity stunt.

Russian Emigrees in Cetral Asia, Turkestan Hit With Savinkovists

A lot of Russian Emigrees have arrived in Central Asia, most settling in the Alash Orda. However, it seems Turkestan has got the worse of the bunch, as their emigrees, unlike the mostly cossack ones of the Alash Orda, were apparently Savinkovists. The countryside and cities have seen a spike in Savinkovist attacks, and many nationalists are calling for action against the insurgents. The chaos has spread to Bukhara and Khiva, which destabilized their monarchist even more.
