Sport Uniforms
Vekaiyu prides itself in its technological, and sometimes bizarre, uniforms. Due the the unusual and often smaller structures of the vulpine people, as well as their religious practices, uniforms are slightly different than normal human-based nations. This guide highlights several of the more common Vekaiyun sport uniforms, including the speed swimsuit, worn by swimmers representing Vekaiyu.

Water Polo
Ever since Vekaiyu joined international competition with their first appearance at the Fifth Summer Olympiad, both the mens and womens squads have shown an acumen for the sport. It may seem odd for a vulpine of all creatures to be so good when it comes to aquatics, but many vulpine swimmers will have their tails cut off at an early age and southern variant vulpines (which make up the vast majority of vulpines in Vekaiyu) have a shorter, oily coat that provide a benefit in the pool. One point of caution: Vekaiyun ear guards are designed to house their triangular ears. While no one to date has officially been injured by their guards, it does remain a possibility.

Synchronized Swimming
Routines are expected to be dynamic and full of energy. Vulpines are smaller than humans on average; therefore, it is not uncommon for teams to have multiple fliers to go with one to two bases. Vekaiyun numbers tend to feature classical songs from their home country, and the teams typically are devoid of eye makeup so common among human competitors, but will use traditional waterproof dyes in order to add a certain unique flair to their routines.

Rhythmic Gymnastics
As with synchronized swimming, Vekaiyun gymnastics is all about displaying the vulpine physique. Nearly all athletes have retained their tails (which are being increasingly cut off due to many parents wanting to keep their children open to aquatic sports and due to it culturally being deemed vestigial), and nearly all will use it in their routine, no matter what kind of controversy it may cause (like what occurred in the Eighth Summer Olympiad).

Soccer
The more Vekaiyu competes internationally in this sport, the more defensive their style of play becomes. This could simply be due to philosophical differences and different styles of play, but it could also be due to difficulties in scoring. A vulpine-team attack is usually haphazard and relies on deception.

Handball
Vekaiyu lacks many facilities converted for handball use, hence players from both squads are more familiar with field or Czech handball. Consequently, their games typically show a lack of dribbling, as handball fields are typically not well-suited for such tasks. Expect a strong passing game from these squads.

Basketball
Unlike the teams sported by the first few delegations from Vekaiyu, basketball is mostly dominated by Vekaiyun humans. The reason is simple - lack of brawn from vulpine bodies, and lack of height. Rims are positioned lower in Vekaiyu, but their teams abide by Olympic rules in international competition. One should likely expect a rather lopsided affair when playing Vekaiyu - a team with shorter players, on average, are at a disadvantage when it comes to defense and offense.

Baseball / Softball
How does a vulpine play baseball? It's simple, actually. Due to having less brawn than humans, one can expect these sports to be more of a defensive affair. It's very much "small-ball" oriented, with pinch running, bunting, squeeze plays, and so on often trumping the standard "modern day" home run ball. Expect these teams to be pitching-heavy, where the longer vulpine fingers tend to favor more movement on the ball, though with movement it often depends on humidity.

The Delegation of the Principality of Lisander (LIS)for the Games of the XV Olympiad

ImageNational Anthem: The Lament of the Widows
The National Anthem of Lisander is instrumental, with no lyrics. Despite being part of the anthem, usually, the starting Piano segment is skipped, and it's usual to start with the three strong drum beats (at 01:25). The so-called choir is called the "Lament of the Widows", exhorting soldiers about to go to battle to avenge their deceased husbands. No one sings the choir part (unless it's a choir).

ImageFlag Bearers for the Opening Ceremony: Anna de Juillerat and Lilianna Arenhart, Fencing
The resurgence of lisanderian fencing has brought a new dynasty to these lands. A new queen on top of the mountain, already bringing her heiress with her. Long live to the dynasty of the foil. All hail Queen Anna, the biggest hope of medals for Lisander. The 28 years-old foilist comes to her second Olympic Games, followed closely by her apprentice and "sister at heart", Princess Lilianna Arenhart, one of the most skilled foilists of the nation, at the tender age of 21. Not only because their names remind each other, not only because her surnames rhyme. But because of their skills and their bravery, their noblesse and grace in the piste. Men or women, Foil, Épee, Sabre. Everyone recognizes they're the crème de la crème of Lisanderian Fencing.

ImagePresident of the Lisander Olympic Committee: His Highness the Prince of Lisander
Recently, His Highness, Johannes, Prince of Lisander, revealed the fact that he competed as a fencer in the last Olympiad that Lisander qualified under the fake identity of Cédric Blanchecroix. HH apologized to the Lisander Fencing Federation and had its previous results stripped. He subsequently re-registered with the federation under the civilian name Johannes Raphaël Harmin, a starting foilist in the squad of Quarto Clube de Oficiais da Armada and a total of zero ranking points. His position in the LOC, however, was not modified. He had held it since before he ascended the throne.

ImageCEO of National Sports Confederation/Lisander Olympic Committee: Angelo Reisner
Formerly a rugby player, Reisner has dedicated his career to manage different teams in various categories. He accepted the position of CEO of the LOC for the next two cycles, with the mission of "make every sport visible". He's already confessed: His plan is to have Lisanderian Athletes in Every Olympic Event as soon as possible.

ImageChef de Mission: The Right Hon. Kevna, Baroness Casterwill
Kevna Casterwill is a bastion of Olympic Sport. Returning for her second Olympic Games as a member of the limited Equestrian Team, she is among the most dedicated sports people in the whole principality. She is the majority owner of the Casterwill Roses, a Basketball SuperLiga team; Honorary President of the Casterwill Athletic Club, which she rebuilt from scratch after her father stepped down, as well as competing amateurly in All Modern Pentathlon events, Quidditch and Equestrian Jumping events, the latter being her favourite sport, and the one she is most dedicated to. As it is unlikely that Kevna will win any medals (even she admits that her chances are minimal), she decided to accept the mission of leading and being the voice of Lisander athletes in these days of the event. Being the highest-ranking noblewoman in the delegation, she was granted the privilege of being the Chef de Mission.

ImageMedical Team: The LMT
The Lisander Olympic Medical Team is composed of 2 medicine doctors, 4 physiotherapists, 2 massage therapists and 2 nurses, lead by Medicine Doctors Corinna e Adrian Reisner-Trintignant. Corinna (née Reisner, adopted husband name) is the oldest of the sisters of Angelo Reisner. Formerly a Hockey player, she is a medical doctor and works as a general clinic. Her husband Adrian (né Trintignant, adopted wife name) is also a medical doctor but focused on sports medicine and nutrition. The LMT is allowed to provide assistance to any injured athlete, regardless of whether he is a Lisander athlete, a foreigner or an opponent in action, obviously, for free.

ImageMedia: Rádio e Televisão de Lisander, RTL
Olympics are broadcasted freely in RTL, the public radio and television of Lisander. During the 18 days of games, RTL's sports channel, (which is usually paid), will become free to all users, plus the addition of 39 more TV signals to broadcast virtually every Olympic event, even if there are no lisanderian athletes. The most important events, such as Rugby, Hockey, Football, Fencing and Sailing, as well as those with Lisanderian Athletes are planned to be shown on the main channels, RTL and RTL 2. RTL is an Associate Member of IBA (International Broadcast Association).

ImageMascot: Liz the Stoat
Image
Lisanderian Olympic Committee brought back Liz, to be the mascot of the Olympic team. Liz is a gentle stoat that likes to learn and is learning to play all the olympic sports. Being a stoat, Liz is a mascot with two different appearances. In this summer Olympics, Liz it's brown, while in winter, he should appear white with a black tip on the tail. Liz doesn't have a visible gender and also does not use clothes that could define it as a male or a female.

In a partnership between RTL, Lisander Olympic Committee, Lisander Rugby Union and Animati Studio, the RTL transmission of events will have the presence of Liz in various instances. The DJ and Musical Producer e.mi, known by her slightly childish voice, was invited to act as the voice of Liz. She has also lent her voice to the mascot in a series of animated short films that air on RTL's programming. In these, Liz can be seen playing various sports such as rowing, basketball and athletics.

ImageUniforms: Spear
Image
A brand of Hedra Group, Spear has developed the entire set of uniforms used by Lisander in the Games of the XV Olympiad. The collection is subtle and elegant, with sober dark green and teal tones contrasting with lighter, yellowish, active and aggressive tones. Every uniform was thought both individually and in unity with the collection. The national flag, the nation's greatest symbol and also an elegant pattern, is a constant presence in the garments. The cut and the seams were designed to enhance and favour the athletes' physical shape, always offering the least friction and the greatest transpiration of sweat., When leaving the cotton, polyester and polyamide fabrics, Spear counted with the assistance of some of the most important fashion industry members. To the Ceremony uniforms, Spear had the support of Catalina Casamayor, a famous stylist of the Principality. To fencing uniforms, Stefan Visser, the national reference in electric fencing supplies, was the partner. To all the Equestrian needs, the partnership was with Saville Polo. The casual attire for players (Polo shirt, T-Shirt and Tracksuits) is displayed here. See specific uniforms and more details in the box of each sport.

ImageFootball
MEN'S
Lisander's Olympic Committee judged that the "full professionalization" of football players at age 18 is not in keeping with the Olympic spirit promoted by the organization, so it ruled that it would not take players with formal contracts to work on professional teams.

It was up to Navarre to choose only between academy players (who, even though they receive allowances, do not have formal employment contracts), players from amateur teams (fourth division and below) and University football players. With these restrictions, Navarre has closed a squad of 24 players who will compete in the Di Bradini Cup, a number that will later be reduced to 18 for the Olympic Games. 22 of them are attending university and only a few among them have been linked to professional teams by the specialised media. According to Navarre, the goals are extremely modest. Making it to the Playoffs would already be a fantastic achievement, considering these young players are not sports stars, unlike other youngsters from other countries who are already playing in teams that are better than the best in Lisander, as players in the leagues of Audioslavia, Farfadilis, Brenecia, etc. etc.

For a lot of these guys, especially those in the Liga Acadêmica Nacional, this is the last chance to be scouted by a top pro team. If not now, some of them will finish college and then get regular jobs, and hopefully join teams in the lower divisions where football is amateur, "subsidized" or semi-pro. So expect an attacking team, valuing possession with short, quick passes and looking for play from the centre to the sides, as is common in the University League. The well-compacted team covers counter-attacks quickly but can have difficulties when it comes to escaping through the middle and creating chances to score.

ImageHandball
Handball is a sport with a modest background in Lisander. The Lisander Handball League is a "subsidized league" where peoples are not paid, rather the team get sponsorships to pay for the season costs. The teams don't have big expectations, and will be happy if at least reaching the knockouts. Spear granted the athletes' requests for sleeveless shirts, after all unlike club shirts, the Olympic team does not need to sell sponsorship spaces on their uniforms to make ends meet.

ImageHockey
Hockey is for the lisanderian females what rugby is for the males. Long established in the Metropolitan Soria, with teams formed inside the famous social clubs established since the late 1800s/early 1900s, like Victorian, St. Helens, Linville and Escrime. The only professional league of the nation is the Metropolitan League, played by teams of Soria Metropolis. There are some minor leagues, but those are only for amateurs. A curious fact: The women's hockey team does not wear the badge of the Lisander Olympic committee like the other teams. Since 1941, the "Queens", as they are called, can wear the Lisander Coat of Arms with a crown.

ImageRugby Sevens
Much was expected as to who would be the 12 Olympic squad for Patricio Bernauer, promoted from Head Coach to LRU Director of Rugby, replacing the recently retired Leonard Assen... There were even people betting that a full squad would come from the Irises squad that were world champions last month in Ko-oren, to secure the gold combo. But Bernauer opted to leave it up to Sevens coach Gaetan Morian. Morian, in turn called strictly the same team that has already been participating in the sevens tournaments, again ignoring the TOP 12 players.

ImageVolleyball
Volleyball is a fast-growing sport in Lisander. Long restricted to schools and universities, businesses are now taking up the sport as a way of keeping their employees physically fit. There are plans for a "corporate" league, where each company will manage a team, which may or may not be made up of company employees. At least three names are already confirmed: Henrique Canterville (Resources Coordinator), Larissa Holstein (Hospitality Manager) and Lorena Rosell (Media Department Assistant), Olympic athletes and former university players, who work from 9 to 5 at Lumina, the electricity company in Lisander, so they should be invited to join the teams that the company has already approved.

ImageWater Polo
Water Polo is another sport where resources are scarce. Players are amateurs, most of them are in university age. It's unlikely both males and females reach Top 10, but we never know, you know. Featured Athletes: In the female team, the attraction are Anger twins, Ludmilla and Micaela, and Kiria Sagnier, that is one of the strongest speed skaters (winter) in Lisander.

ImageOOC Notes:
  1. Due to the massive nature of the Olympics, I'm not establishing RP Permissions. In case of posting first, those with athletes/teams competing against Lisander athletes can write whatever, select my scorers and write about the matches. Anyways, I advance I'm not interested in write about untreatable injuries, neither for mine nor for other's athletes, unless the other player requests me in order to use this as a roleplay plot.
  2. For the sake of "I don't wanna have to explain why a Lisanderian human is playing against a pony or a sentient bird", I do not spell out the physical appearances of my opponents. For all RP purposes, what Lisanderian people and athletes will see are human athletes on the field, whether they are real or by having their vision modified by some form of human knowledge that affects vision such as magic, optics, technology, hypnosis or whatever it is that the great corporations and the security agencies hide from us.
  3. For the cycle starting now, I'm planning to give a "push" to local Water Polo, Cycling, Fencing, Hockey, Rugby Sevens, Sailing and Volleyball, so that I can increase the levels of these sports and as a consequence also increase the number of athletes. If the time/life/compromises allow, I plan to host/scorinate at least one event on each of these sports before the next edition Olympic Games.
  4. Lisander leagues are in constant need of athletes, so I plan to actively scout athletes, including on "less active" sports, especially on the "push" ones. I plan to send telegrams over noticed athletes. Feel free to do the same if you find someone in my rosters.
  5. The RL character for "Liz" is Okojo-san, from the "Shiawase Apartments Okojo-san" anime series.

Nation name: The White Winter Queendom of Græntfjall
Trigram: GRÆ
Demonym: Græntfjaller
National anthem: Trembling Night (must be played in its entirety should a Græntfjaller win a gold)
National Organizing Committee: Ólympíusamband Græntfjalls / Græntfjaller Olympic Association
Chef de mission: Göpf Vernerisson
Full delegation list: Link
Opening ceremony flag bearer: Naomi Maximiliansdóttir
Media: GS SuperSports+, Háttmark Harbinger/Vestrænnblaðið/ND, GBC

Græntfjaller fans are expected to be particularly drawn to team sports events (handball, hockey, water polo), and to canoeing and cycling events. Should you encounter Græntfjaller tourists, they will probably be polite and enthusiastic, if struggling with the heat. Græntfjaller fans usually wave the national flag (the ‘blue-and-white’) or stuffed wolf toys, and sometimes howl like wolves when Græntfjallers do well.

Græntfjaller athletes will typically compete in blue, or blue with white-trim. Alternate strips in team sports will generally be the reverse i.e. white with blue-trim. Almost all Græntfjaller names are patronymic (or occasionally matronymic) and thus athlete IDs may sometimes be by their first name and initial rather than by surname.

General RP permissions:
  • Sport-specific permissions, such as picking goal scorers, are listed under the drop-downs along with squad details.
  • You may RP my athletes, staff, officials and fans as you wish, but please do not have them involved in cheating (things like DSQs for lane violations are fine) or doping.
  • Absolutely no violence of any kind by or to my characters.
  • I would request, though not insist, that if you use non-photoshopped RL photographs, you don’t say they represent my characters or nation.
  • Despite the frosty tone of the above, I like Olympic RPing a lot and am open to any collaborative storylines. These could sporting (domestic league transfers, acquiring broadcast rights), political (developing relationships between Græntfjall and YN), or personal (individual athletes or other characters, though I am not interested in romance plots).

Judges, officials and referees

You may RP a Græntfjaller judge, official or referee for any competition. You may assign them a name with a random Icelandic name generator or ask me to supply one. You can have the officials make mistakes or exhibit bias; just don’t have them be wantonly incompetent or corrupt.

The Bouncy Wolves won gold at the 14th Summer Olympics. Leading scorer Ósvald Fabiansson and MVP goalkeeper Ásmóður Kennsson are both gone; Jack Jockisson and Isak Göpfsson are the main scoring threats now, while young Samuele Henriksson beats out Klængur Álfarsson to start in goal.

If you RP first, you may…
Pick my scorers: Y
Assign penalties: Y
Assign ejections: Y
Assign serious, violent incidents that would lead to multiple-game suspensions: N
Injure my players: N

Other considerations: Handball is a major sport Græntfjall so I’m up for anything to develop its profile, whether that’s domestic transfers, sponsorships, broadcast deals, or RP storylines.

Volleyball has a much lower profile in Græntfjall than most other Olympic team sports. There’s competition from basketball and handball, and the domestic league doesn’t have a TV rights deal meaning multi-sports-clubs haven’t prioritized it. That doesn’t mean the Net Wolves are a bunch of bumbling incompetents, but expectations – or even awareness of their existence – aren’t high. Despite her size, the team’s star player is libero Veronika Annesdóttir [while Græntfjall wears blue she will wear green]. 17 year old Nyagũthiĩ Wanjirsdóttir, of Kijani extraction, became the first black person to ever represent Græntfjall in international sport at VWE 12. The 2.01m teen is a prodigious talent and quite raw, but signed a huge deal to play in the Mytanar league.

If you RP first, you may…
Do pretty much anything: Y, except…
Injure my players: N

Other considerations: I don’t RP a domestic volleyball league so I have less interest here in ongoing storylines, but if you want to sign one of my players feel free.

The fall of communism didn’t mean the fall of water polo’s popularity in Græntfjall, with the Championship and Cup going from strength to strength. The Aqua Wolves and their Aqua She-Wolves counterparts are among the most popular national teams and most recognizable faces on TV, not to mention advertising. There’ll be more than a few cereal boxes flying off the shelves if they do well in this tournament.

For the men, Michael Andreasson is the stand-out talent (literally, with his powerful egg-beater). Edgar Allansson and Oskar Eltonsson form an exciting partnership with captain Segol Tellsson and Þjóðvarður Jockysson is pretty solid. Look out for Noah Ratosson to lead the scoring. For the women, Aslaug Øysteinsdóttir isn’t the most dependable goalie, but has good support from Rosemarie Jalmarisdóttir, while Jóa Skúlisdóttir is the main goal-scoring threat.

If you RP first, you may…
Pick my scorers: Y
Assign ordinary/major fouls: Y
Assign brutality/misconduct fouls: N
Injure my players: N

Other considerations: Note that water polo has no intense political rivalries associated with it in Græntfjall and there’ll be no blood in the water games regardless of any other storylines involving my nation.

Flag credits: Many thanks to Equestrian States and Tikariot for the mini-flags.
Puppet note: Although Hannasea is my puppet, the two nations have no IC connection.

General RP permissions:
Both of these are unenforceable in a group RP, so they're really just guidelines. MENS FOOTBALL

The Olympic Team will adhere to the restriction of players eligible for U-23 competition with the exception of three over-age players.

Derizi was trained in the the goalkeeper program at the Eelandii Academy. While in Eelandii, the Youth Team qualified for the IFCF Youth Cup after finishing as Top Turorian Youth side in the Tropicorp Youth Cup. Performances for the Academy resulted in a contract with Sporta Eelandii Senior Squad but the Senior Squad was relegated from the Declasse automatically triggering a release clause for the young goalkeeping prospect. Instead of staying local, Derizi opted to take their talents to Eura joining Revolutionaries as they look to take their career to the next level overseas. Amatopa’s first internationstatal tournament came with the Vilitan Union at the XIV Olympic Games and the youngster would earn a Gold Medal despite not appearing in any of the matches. It was a different situation during the 50th Di Bradini Cup when Amatopa started in three of Vilita & Turori’s 7 matches in route to the championship. Amatopa would also start the majority of matches for the Turori National Team during Eagle’s Cup X where Turori earned the Bronze Medal. On a Domestic level, Amatopa took over as starting goalkeeper for Revolutionaries at the age of 18 and earned Goalkeeper of the Season Honors during EuraLeague 45 after leading Revolutionaries to the Euraleague Title. Amatopa became a World Cup Champion when Turori defeated The Holy Empire to win World Cup 88. Amatopa led all Turori goalkeepers with seven starts in the Qualifying round as well as having started one match during the World Cup 88 Finals.

Milake's domestic career wouldn't go as smoothly, however, and after spending 2 seasons in the Declasse after Lonngeylin Coast's relegation, the World Cup winner returned to his roots, re-signing for high-flying Eastal Lunar in Season 46. Offspring of famed Vilitan netminder Zelkki Milake, one of the youngest Starting netminders in history to win the World Cup Final (World Cup 68), Milake has followed in their fathers footsteps by taking on the Goalkeepers Gloves and now trains under their father at Eastal Lunar FC. While not expected to compete for a place on the Vilitan National Team anytime soon, the sky is the limit for the Astronaut Trainee who is also, quite literally, an Astronaut Trainee attending school at the Astronaut Academy at the nearby Vilitan Space Outpost. Milake Jr.’s debut would come as a surprise starter against Delaclava on the second matchday of the 50th Di Bradini Cup. At just 16 years of age the younger Milake would make a name for themselves winning each of their four starts in the competition and helping to lead Vilita & Turori to their first Under-21 World Cup Title in over 60 cycles.

Sportspeople from the Saltsteadish Confederation will be competing at the Olympic Games for the second team in Bunjil, hoping to improve on the four golds, two silvers and four bronzes won by Saltsteadish athletes at their debut in Orean—Istria. The Saltsteadish contingent of support is expected to be small, given the distance that the delegation will have to travel for the Games, but expect those who do make the trip out to Electrum to be passionate, especially at the aquatics, athletics and cycling events. Saltstead is also expected to have chances to win golds in canoeing, golf, skateboarding and surfing, with varying shades of outside chance in badminton, fencing, handball, hockey, karate, sailing, shooting, sport climbing, triathlon and volleyball.

Équipe Omerique · Team Omerica

Three-letter code: OME
National anthem: L’Avonnaise
Primary colours: Smalt blue and red
Secondary colours: Gold and silver
FSO–OSF Executive Director: Mr Ryan Pritchard
Secretary for Tourism, Sport: Députée · Deputy Morgan Barzetti
Head of delegation: Ms Charline Ilbert
Flagbearers for the opening ceremony: Mr Dante Perreira (Karate · Karate) and Ms Christa Rex (Cyclisme sur route · Road cycling)

The United Republics of Omerica’s Olympic debut in Orean and Istria was best described as… disappointing. While nine medals nearly met the target set by the Omerican Sporting Federation, the nation failed to win a single gold at the Games and was further humbled after the fact by the failure of its indoor volleyball teams to qualify for Bunjil. Nevertheless, around 450 athletes will make the journey to Electrum for the Summer Olympics and will be keenly supported by a loyal contingent of supporters, especially next to the football pitches, basketball courts and rugby fields of the Terranean Coast. The race will soon be underway to see who can win Omerica’s first Olympic gold and to see if new FSO–OSF Executive Director (and former Incorrigibles manager) Ryan Pritchard’s seemingly modest goal of twelve medals and two golds can be achieved.

Nation Name: Scornerse (SCR)
Flag Bearer: Estella Aguilar (ARCHERY/BOXING/FENCING/JUDO/TAEKWONDO)
Anthem: Moving Forward Stronger

Roughness Index: My Teams in semi/full contact sports each have roughness index's to help you describe playing against them.

Passive: Will prove to be a paragon of fair play and tactics, will refuse to engage in dirty tactics even when made a victim of them, though will of course attempt to play around it. Superficial scratches/bruises/cuts to my athletes are allowed, but injuries that would effect event to event performance must be approved by TG.

Responsive: Will play as rough/dirty as their competition. your players may sustain injuries as a result of their play, including those that leave negative impacts on your athletes in the future. However no actions that'd be sanctionable outside of the match may be portrayed. Superficial scratches/bruises/cuts to my athletes are allowed, but injuries that effect event to event performance must be approved by TG

Aggressive: Will systematically play rough and engage in dirty tactics to win victory, you can attribute losing to them to dirty tactics, or wins against to penalties accrued due to their dirty tactics. your players may sustain injuries as a result of their play, including those that would leave negative impacts on your team in future games. However no actions so blatant as to be sanctionable outside of the match may be portrayed. Superficial scratches/bruises/cuts to my athletes are allowed, but injuries that would effect event to event performance must be approved by TG.

Exceptions to all rules can be agreed to by telegram, but significant departures are unlikely.

Scoring/substitutions can be freely portrayed, though starters, especially captains, are more likely to be involved in big plays.

Expectations: None. Diving has never been a historically strong sport in Darmen and the silver medal from the Republica games is viewed mostly as a fluke.

Expectations: As with athletics or cycling, the longer the event the more popular it becomes in Darmen. As such, Darmen is expected to be in contention for at least one medal in the 800m & 1500m freestyle events for the men, as well the 10000m marathon events for both the men and women. Additionally, Cruz Kruger will lead Darmen's relay teams as they hope to repeat their surprise performances from the last games.

Men's Athletics 1500m Anso McFarland Bronze XIV-Istria & Orean

Expectations: Although sprinter Bob Riley is among the most decorated Darmeni Olympians, it is in the distance events, particularly the 10000m, where Darmen excells. Max Bush is hoping to repeat as a gold medalist in the 5000m and win his first in the 10000m. Both Egbert Jerome (gold) and Anso McFarland (bronze) have returned to hopefully continue Darmeni dominance of the 1500m. Darmen's three marathon runners are among the fastest yet sent, if they fail to return with a medal it will be another games without success in what is potentially Darmen's most popular event.

On the women's side, Jaquelyn Clacher will not only be a flag bearer at the closing ceremony, but perhaps Darmen's best chance at winning another medal in women's athletics. Ascensión Voll and Rebekka Clark should not be counted out in the 5000m and 10000m. Marathon runner Anita Toledano also looks in fine form.

Expectations: For a country that does not normally compete in the International Basketball Championships, Darmen has done very well at the Olympics, finishing runners-up twice. The men's team is expected to mount a challenge for the gold, while the women's and 3-on-3 teams are considered to be more like side shows than actual medal contenders.

Expectations: Professional baseball is hanging on to life in Darmen, but cricket has firmly replaced it as the most popular bat and ball sport in Darmen. While an Olympic medal might be just what is needed to spur a new generation of fans to take up the game, it's unlikely to happen at these games.

Expectations: Darmen's third most successful sport at the Olympics (by total medals won), Darmeni boxers, especially the men, are always poised to bring home a medal or two, although the magic of the 9th Olympiad, when five medals were won, is unlikely to be repeated.

Expectations: Although not particularly strong in the slalom events, sprints in the canoe or kayak, particularly over a kilometer, have yielded success over the years. The pressure is on to follow up on the last game's three gold medals; kayak star Simón Ó Damháin in particular will be looking to add to his personal medal total.

While football and athletics are certainly among the most popular sports back home, make no mistake: THIS. IS. THE. SPORT. The success or failure of the cycling team, particularly in the men's road race, will measure the success of Darmen's Olympic experience. A Darmeni has finished in second place of the men's road race in four of the seven appearances Darmen has had in the Olympics, but no Darmeni has yet laid hold of a gold. While the last Olympics was Darmen's most successful in terms of gold medals won, the lack of medals in road cycling left a sour taste in the mouths of Darmenis. Napoléon Masters is the man in form, Darmeni hopes at these games will rest primarily on his shoulders.

While success in the road race eluded Darmen in the previous games, Sosimo Owens took gold in the mountain biking event and Fergal Eaton and Sheila Boon both took bronze in the men's and women's Omnium. All three will be looking to repeat at these games.

Expectations: Although Darmeni fans might only be interested in the cross-country portion of the event, Edmund Heinrich, riding Firefox; Jourdain Scholz, riding Chrome; and Derek Maradona, riding Safari, are all expected to do well in all three disciplines that make up Eventing. Darmen's first medal in Equestrian might not be out of the question.

Expectations: Although Darmen has been a consistent competitor at sevens competitions around the multiverse, they have yet to medal at the Olympics. It does not appear as though that will change at these games; Darmeni focus has remained on the full fifteen-a-side format of the game and interest and support for sevens has waned. An appearance in the knockouts for the men is not out of the question however.

Medal History
Event Athlete Medal Games
Men's Two-person Dinghy Mariano Townsend/Sigdag Bloxam Gold XIV-Istria & Orean
Men's Heavyweight Dinghy Filippu Kunkel Silver IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City
Men's Skiff Brendan Schnoor/Henk Schmid Bronze VIII-Orean

Expectations: The surprise gold won by the pair of Townsend and Bloxam at the last games has given a boost to the popularity of sailing in Darmen. They aren't expected to repeat their performance however.

Medal History
Event Athlete Medal Games
Mixed Trap Team John Grant/Tatienne Shine Silver XIV-Istria & Orean

Expectations: Both Grant and Shine have returned in an attempt to do one better than they did four years ago and win gold in the Trap. They have decent chances to do so.

Medal History
Event Athlete Medal Games
Men's Team Æðelberht Kunkle/Gerfrid Emmett/Wayland Malley Silver XIII-Republica

Expectations: Medals are not expected from the table tennis team. In fact, this is one of the weakest Darmeni teams sent to the games.

Medal History
Event Athlete Medal Games
Men's 80kg Pedro Munro Gold XIV-Istria & Orean
Men's +80kg Anraí Osborne Silver XIII-Republica
Men's +80kg Jared Garnett Bronze IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City
Men's 80kg Brannon Wolf Bronze XII-Novonaya & Provinsk

Expectations: After winning gold at the last games, Pedro Munro has joined Gallagher Magalhães as Darmen's best Godanja and medal prospect.

Medal History
Event Athlete Medal Games
Men's Doubles Elliot Sprecher/John Hoogliand Gold VIII-Orean
Men's Singles Guillaume Leonardsen Silver IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City
Men's Doubles Elliot Sprecher/John Hoogliand Bronze VII-Emberton

Expectations: Although none of the current Darmeni tennis players matches the combined talent of Elliot Sprecher and John Hoogliand, the Darmeni team at these Games is fairly strong. Peadar Wernher has a good chance to medal in the men's singles competition and, together with Gilead Xylander might also win one in the doubles.

Medal History
Event Medal Games

9 Willa Coke 28 Royal VC
10 Sonja Kavanagh 34 Eau Claire Smash
11 Francis O'Kirk 22 Western VC
12 Keavy Fleischer 28 Liverpool VC

Expectations: The establishment of the professional Darmeni Volleyball Association league has given hope to the Darmeni volleyball community of potentially winning a medal. But it may not be until the next games that Darmen sees the dividends of professional competition.

Medal History
Event Athlete Medal Games
Men's 81kg Iovianus Devine Gold XIV-Istria & Orean
Men's +109kg Obed MacIver Silver XIV-Istria & Orean
Men's 109kg Ulises Lincoln Bronze XIV-Istria & Orean

Expectations: In the beginning, there was nothing. But on the seventh games, the Darmeni weightlifting god awoke from his slumber and gifted the nation with a gold, a silver and a bronze medal. Of the three medal winners, all of whom have returned to these games, Iovianus Devine is the best positioned to repeat his feat.

Medal History
Event Athlete Medal Games
Men's Greco-Roman 84kg Nikolai Sokolov Silver VIII-Orean
Men's Freestyle 84kg Francis Gray Silver IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City
Men's Greco-Roman 66kg Adrian Hambledon Silver IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City
Women's Greco-Roman 58kg Flavia Howard Silver XIII-Republica
Men's Greco-Roman 66kg York Bazretti Bronze VIII-Orean
Men's Freestyle 96kg Casimiro O'Hearn Bronze IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City
Men's Greco-Roman 60kg Jericho Osborne Bronze IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City
Men's Greco-Roman 74kg Hugleikr Hildebrand Bronze IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City
Men's Greco-Roman 120kg Sampson van der Aart Bronze IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City
Men's Greco-Roman 84kg Denton Prinz Bronze IX-Zube & Kytler Bay City

Expectations: The massive medal haul of the 9th Games didn't lead to any sustained success in this sport. The Darmeni wrestlers, in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle, lack top level talent.

Expectations: Medals are unlikely in these sports; if any are won it will be the first for Darmen in their respective sports. The athletes are primarily present to partake in the Olympic spirit and prove that their respective sports do exist in Darmen. Of these eight sports, Badminton is the most popular in Darmen.

RP PERMISSIONS: No killing or other serious life altering events. Otherwise, have fun!

Qasden Olympic Delegation
Team Rosters

Several years ago, in a world as ancient as time, the Principality of Qasden had been an active participant in the Olympic games. In the olden days of yonder, the young, soon-to-be-jaded country debuted at the multisport summer showcase in Aeropag, a thriving metropolis housed within the gargantuan Paripana. Here, the OlympiVans (as we're now required to call them, collectively) would see a rather impressive performance for a first time around, winning 4 medals (2 golds, 2 silvers). It was an incredible time to be a sporty Qad, and that train would keep going; at least, it kept going for football and lacrosse in their own specific tournaments.

Cut to the 12th Oympiads, Qasden's first (and so far, only) foray into the world of winter sports beyond hockey. The frozen games, held in the Electrumite city of Prescott, would prove to be too much for TQ, with the only medal of any kind being in the Women's Individual Sprint of Cross Country Skiing, where Laura Crocket would take home the gold. Of course, while this was a remarkable feat (golds at both of our debuting olympics), Prescott felt like it could've been better, but at least there was still the summer games coming up right? These were held jointly between the cities of Novonaya, Kelssek and Provinsk, Vekaiyu, and had introduced a set of demonstration events to fancy everyone for future games. Not including the demos (which saw the nation shock the baseball world with a gold); actually, including the demos, it was hard to not compare these games to Aeropag, as without baseball, the OlympiVans would've walked away with no golds at all, just a silver and bronze. It was here that the national olympic dream of topping the medal tallies would die, and with it, the country's participation in the games would go dark indefinitely...

...until now.

Having since become cynical of the athletic world, the modern day Qasdonian has grown tired, negative, and most of all, starved of medals. In AOCAF 62, the nation would see a revelation in the form of a finals birth for Qasden's Vans, a first in a tournament long thought to be impossible. The squad, managed by Sylvia Zimari, had done something that none of the past 11 squads could, and would (in true Qad fashion) squander that popularity boost with a 0-1 loss in the championship against the very nation that cost the great Jon Merritt his job. Regardless, it was a high people hadn't experienced since the Silver Age of Football, and while it's been years since that happened (with the high quickly dying thanks to failures in other tournaments), the Olympic committee believed it was time to free itself from its age old state of paralysis. Starting with the AOlympics, an (apparently) ongoing collection of regionwide sporting events, which would see the nation net three medals (A gold and bronze at SwimAO, plus a bronze at AOLC). Were these enough to encourage the public to hype sports again? Absolutely not, but regardless, Qasden hadn't seen hardware like that in bloody eons, so we'll take what we're given; and with that acknowledged, the OCQ ripped off the old band-aid with a triple-figure entry into the 15th Summer Olympiad, seeing the country return to Electrum (Banjul and the Terranean Coast, to be specific). This grandiose and, frankly, very expensive endeavor will almost certainly piss off Qads at home, especially now that a large portion of the delegation has already lost with no medals to show, but who cares if the public is mad now when they could have another gold medal to keep them happy? That's our goal in Electrum, and with (most) of our teams still afloat, if feels only right to establish the presence of some of them. These are your Qasden OlympiVans! (in Water Polo, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Football)

Rotation
1. Noah Rippin (#23), age 26, L/RHP, Dover Outer South Bills
Season: 31 GS*, 22*–5, 2.34 ERA*, 15.2 K/9*, 1.6 BB/9, 0.74 WHIP*, 8.4 WAR*, All-Star
Throws: Four-seamer 99-101 mph, cutter, curveball, slider, changeup
Has a repertoire of five very effective pitches, but does not have much stamina. In his 31 games this season, threw a total of 188.1 innings, or just over 6 IP per game on average. Power pitcher with a high fly-ball rate, but good at keeping the ball in the park having given up only 21 HR this season. Also has a remarkable K/9 rate of over 15, and a K/BB ratio of 9.7. Helped massively by his release / arm slot, which is over the top.
Set single-season LBC and CBL records for K (319) and pitching WAR.

2. Steven Godsave (#26), age 22, R/RHP, Orean Capital Tiger Cats
Season: 29 GS, 17*–4, 2.48 ERA*, 11.7 K/9*, 1.3 BB/9*, 0.88 WHIP*, 7.0 WAR*, All-Star
Throws: Four-seamer 98-100 mph, curveball, two-seamer, changeup
The first man to throw an LBC no-hitter in the WBC49 season, Godsave has improved on a relative down (but still impressive) year to earn his first international selection. His four-seam and curveball are strong, while his changeup is above-average.

3. Doug Rawsthorne (#20), age 26, L/LHP, Orean Capital Tiger Cats
Season: 29 GS, 10–4, 2.51 ERA, 10.8 K/9, 2.3 BB/9, 1.03 WHIP, 5.5 WAR, All-Star
Throws: Four-seamer 99-101 mph, two-seamer, slider, changeup
An extreme groundball power pitcher, Rawsthorne had a career year in many respects this year. Despite regressing in his ERA+ numbers, he put up career-best homerun per nine, walks per nine, and WAR numbers. Hampered by his lack of stamina, averaging 5.1 innings per start in the LBC this season. Internationally, he will continue to work as a follower in tandem with an opener.
Note: To be used as a follower after opener.

4. Gabriel Pickett (#83), age 24, L/RHP, Salfast Manatees
Season: 30 GS, 15–7, 2.56 ERA, 8.6 K/9, 2.1 BB/9, 1.04 WHIP, 5.2 WAR, All-Star
Throws: Four-seamer 99-101 mph, changeup, curveball, two-seamer
Will rely heavily on the cheese, with his changeup above-average and curveball average.

5. Ashley Lutley (#4), age 26, R/RHP, Wakeford Capitals
Season: 30 GS, 15–8, 2.96 ERA, 9.3 K/9, 2.1 BB/9, 1.08 WHIP, 4.9 WAR
Throws: Four-seamer 99-101 mph, splitter, forkball, slider, curveball, changeup
Has added a sixth pitch, the changeup, to his repertoire, but more of a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none. The changeup is used only sparingly; his curveball is average at best. The other four pitches grade out above-average. A groundball pitcher with an over-the-top arm slot. Regressed a bit this season but still did enough to retain his spot in the rotation as Liventia moves to a five-man rotation.

Bullpen
Howard Sandercock (#47), age 20, R/RHP, Cittin Bashers
Season: 47 G, 11–2 19 SV, 0.98 ERA, 15.7 K/9, 3.9 BB/9, 0.98 WHIP, 4.4 WAR, All-Star
Throws: Sinker 99-101 mph, curveball
For his first full season in the top flight (not counting 23 games in the WBC 49 cycle), Sandercock was impressive for the promoted Cittin Bashers, who survived an immediate relegation back to Division Two. A groundball pitcher, he only allowed two home runs in 73.1 innings of work. Somewhat impressively, improved his K/9 rate from last season in Division Two. A future starting star if he can add a few more pitches, for he has the stamina to do so. However, for his WBC debut, he will be restricted to an opener role.
Usage: Opener for Rawsthorne (no more than two innings); mop-up man if losing big

Adam Precious (#73), age 25, L/LHP, Wakeford Capitols
Season: 36 G (22 GS), 14–6, 2.95 ERA, 11.2 K/9, 2.7 BB/9, 1.02 WHIP, 4.0 WAR
Throws: Four-seamer 96-98 mph, slider, changeup, splitter
Precious, a starter-turned-reliever this season, will make his WBC debut as a long reliever / emergency starter. His fastball is average at best, but his splitter is above average; his slider grades out as good; and his changeup – his most efficient pitch – excellent.
Usage: Long relief / emergency SP

Byron Gatehouse (#44), age 33, L/LHP, Lantgoma Snipers
Season: 46 G (7 GS), 9–3 3 H 13 SV, 1.42 ERA, 9.0 K/9, 2.1 BB/9, 0.92 WHIP, 2.9 WAR, All-Star
Throws: Four-seamer 94-96 mph, curveball, two-seamer
Some might say 33 is old to be making a WBC debut, especially when Baseball Liventia puts an age limit on position players. But Gatehouse – one of three lefties in the Liventian pen – more than deserves his call-up after a stellar season. Fastball is above average; his curveball grades just below excellent. Has the stamina to last for four or five innings if really needed.
Usage: Long relief / middle relief / mop up

Frank Kenley (#19), age 25, L/LHP, Talbott South Hilltops
Season: 51 G, 3–6 29 SV, 1.77 ERA, 14.9 K/9, 1.9 BB/9, 0.88 WHIP, 3.7 WAR
Throws: Four-seamer 93-95 mph, two-seamer, splitter
A slightly off year for Kenley means he loses his closer role on the national team, and will now serve in a middle relief position.
Usage: Middle relief

John Cropper (#18), age 34, R/RHP, Wakeford Capitols
Season: 62 G, 6–4 15 H 8 SV, 1.52 ERA, 13.7 K/9, 1.5 BB/9, 0.72 WHIP, 3.6 WAR, All-Star
Throws: Four-seamer 99-101 mph, two-seamer, curveball
Both the four-seam and curveball are strong pitches for Cropper, who returns to the national setup after missing WBC50. A flyball power pitcher who throws gas. Will serve in a middle relief role.
Usage: Middle relief

Mark Staite (#12), age 25, R/RHP, Dover Outer South Bills
Season: 52 G, 5–3 34 SV, 1.17 ERA, 11.2 K/9, 1.5 BB/9, 0.93 WHIP, 2.5 WAR, All-Star
Throws: Four-seamer 97-99 mph, sinker, curveball
A former closer for the national team and four-time WBC selection, returns to the squad for the first time since WBC 48. Had a strong season but not quite strong enough to feature in the fight for the Red and Gold closing spot this tournament.
Usage: Middle relief / setup

Kyle Sheffield (#31), age 24, R/RHP, Wakeford Capitols
Season: 57 G, 5–3 37 SV*, 1.71 ERA, 16.1 K/9, 1.8 BB/9, 0.88 WHIP, 4.3 WAR, All-Star
Throws: Sinker 98-100 mph, curveball, changeup
Challenged Jake Dominey for the closer role this year and led the NBL in saves, but a lower strikeout rate and higher walk rate means Sheffield will have to settle for the setup role and backup closer this tournament.
Usage: Setup / closer

Jake Dominey (#6), age 34, R/RHP, Jesner Spin Doctors
Season: 54 G, 10–2 34 SV*, 1.62 ERA, 17.5 K/9, 1.2 BB/9, 0.68 WHIP, 5.5 WAR, All-Star
Throws: Four-seamer 95-97 mph, sinker, curveball
An extreme groundballer, Dominey led the CBL in saves this year and figures to win the Reliever of the Year award in his conference for a fourth consecutive year. Improved his K/9 and BB/9 numbers from last season, although an increased opponent BABIP saw his ERA+ plunge. Has been designated the lead closer for WBC 51.
Usage: Closer

Catchers
Harold Welford (#9), age 25, R/R, City Centre Keys INTERIM TEAM CAPTAIN
Season: .326*/.437/.611, 29 HR, 86 RBI, 84 BB, 63 SO, 8.1 WAR*, All-Star
Welford significantly improved his walk and strikeout rates this season, putting together a 1.048 OPS line for the City Centre Keys. Led the NBL in WAR for the second year in a row, and is a guaranteed lock to start behind the dish. Welford will act as team captain in Dermot Rowntree's absence.
Also plays 1B (rarely)

Carlton Phillips (#94), age 25, R/R, Olympton Rapiers
Season: .326/.387/.536, 23 HR, 96 RBI, 42 BB, 42 SO, 5.5 WAR
Earning his first international callup in Phillips, a catcher who has always been able to hit for contact but this year added a significant amount of power, smashing a career-high 23 long balls. While his walk rate – and therefore his on-base percentage – took a hit, he will be a useful backup for Welford.
Also plays 1B.

Infielders
Edward Mull (#17), age 26, L/L, Talbott South Hilltops
Season: .302/.367/.595, 46 HR, 113 RBI, 59 BB, 129 SO, 5.3 WAR, All-Star
Plays: 1B
For the second straight season, appeared in (and for the first time, started) all 144 regular-season games. Saw his power numbers dip slightly from last season's NBL-leading 62 home runs (as did the entire league, with no one surpassing the 50 HR mark), but still an incredibly effective first baseman. Can't run for nuts.

Josh Gwynne (#40), age 25, R/R, Olympton Rapiers
Season: .285/.405/.588, 45 HR, 135 RBI, 100 BB, 147 SO, 25 SB, 8.6 WAR*, All-Star
Plays: 2B
A power-hitting second baseman? Yep, they exist – and Gwynne is one of them. And he can run, too, with 138 career LBC stolen bases. Walk him or pitch to him, he can do damage. Watch out.

David Stelfox (#25), age 31, R/R, Bede Swordfish
Season: .317/.385/.520, 27 HR, 95 RBI, 44 BB, 146 SO, 23 SB, 6.6 WAR, All-Star
Plays: 3B, SS, 1B rarely
Appeared in all 144 games this season, starting 136 of them. Strikeouts remain a problem for Stelfox, but his defensive versatility – he will start at short for the Red-and-Gold – make him an essential part of the national team lineup. Added 10 home runs to his total from last year, too.

Reece Raymont (#29), age 24, R/R, Pardbo Bisons
Season: .325/.360/.652, 194 H*, 48 HR*, 145 RBI*, 33 BB, 123 SO, 27 SB, 7.0 WAR, All-Star
Plays: 3B, 1B rarely
For the second season in a row, led the CBL in hits (this year as the joint-leader). However, it's the first time Raymont has also led in home runs (again as joint-leader) and runs batted in, and he set a career-high OPS mark at 1.012. While his discipline and vision is not the best and he won't walk much, when he does get on base he is a threat to steal.

Alastair Cochrane (#96), age 25, L/R, Dover Outer North Buzzards
Season: .305/.407/.672*, 48 HR*, 118 RBI, 81 BB, 73 SO, 8.6 WAR
Plays: 3B
Despite his stellar season, Cochrane was not selected to be an All-Star mostly due to time missed early in the season through injury. This is a first call-up for the lefty 25-year-old, who led the NBL in both home runs and slugging percentage. Due to his injury proneness, will serve mainly as DH for the national team.

Outfielders
Danny Hugill (#14), age 25, S/L, City Centre Keys
Season: .300/.429/.529, 25 HR, 83 RBI, 116 BB*, 64 SO, 67 SB, 7.1 WAR, All-Star
Plays: LF, RF
Another speedster, a true superstar in the league. Hugill doesn't have the show-it-all power but he's normally good for about 25 dingers a year. Led the NBL in runs scored (113) and walks this season. Swiped 67 bags this season, the most among national team players, but somehow still not the most in the league. His ability to draw walks is a problem for opposing teams, due to his speed.

Bradley Appleyard (#3), age 26, R/R, Jesner Spin Doctors
Season: .345/.411/.664*, 194 H*, 48 HR*, 142 RBI, 61 BB, 109 SO, 36 SB, 8.5 WAR, All-Star
Plays: RF, CF rarely
Appleyard earns a recall to the national side after a very strong season in which he shared the CBL lead for hits (194) and home runs (48) with Reece Raymont. His slugging and OPS numbers also topped all players in that conference, and when you consider his plus-plus speed, it's no surprise he is a star.

Roy Christie (#11), age 25, R/R, Desert Counts
Season: .317/.443/.543, 25 HR, 94 RBI, 113 BB, 96 SO, 40 SB, 7.0 WAR
Plays: CF, LF
A second straight WBC call-up for Christie, who posted a career-best .317 batting average this season and lowered his strikeout rate while adding walks. Like the rest of the league, his power numbers went down this season, but he isn't needed for his dingers in this stacked team. Oh, and like Hugill and Appleyard, he can run.

Christopher Abley (#15), age 25, R/R, Dover Outer South Bills
Season: .293/.356/.557, 41 HR, 110 RBI, 49 BB, 68 SO, 34 SB, 6.1 WAR, All-Star
Plays: RF, LF rarely
Abley is a what-could-have-been player. Last selected for the WBC48 squad, had two injury-hit seasons that restricted him to just 81 games of a possible 288. However, has returned with a bang this season, having added loads of power for career-high home run, RBI, slugging, OPS, and WAR marks. Also a plus defender in right field, and is speedy around the basepaths (stop us if you've heard that one before). Due to his injury history, will serve as backup right fielder to Appleyard.

Utility
Andrew Batkin (#35), age 27, R/R, Dover Outer South Bills
Season: .267/.375/.484, 26 HR, 86 RBI, 75 BB, 91 SO, 18 SB, 5.3 WAR
Plays: RF, CF, 1B, LF, 3B, 2B (in order of competency)
Batkin regressed massively this year, and this call-up may be considered somewhat of a surprise. However, the selectors felt his defensive versatility – being able to play four positions at an average-or-better level and two more at a slightly-below-average ability – was needed in a team with just five infielders, one of whom will serve as DH.
