The Menzendorf of the Southern Alps.

Family name: Menzendorf Family.
Dynastic head: José Alejandro Menzendorf
Other members: 2 sons, 2 daughters. One sister, One niece.
Territorial claim: Victorian Alps around Mount Buller. Roughly the Division of Indi.
Political philosophy: Radicalistic Caudillismo.
Brief history: Although the name suggests a German origin, the Menzendorfs fled South America after the Metahumans took over. Originally settled in the city of Concepción. José Alejandro followed his father Guillermo after the latter fell out of grace with a pro-von Eisenfaust local governor, his name now targeted for assassination. Father, mother and two son and a daughter soon made it to Southern Australia. Both Guillermo and his wife Úrsula were found dead a week after reaching Melbourne, hanged from the ceiling of their apartment and leaving their children behind.
In 2003, a 25 year-old José joined the Volunteer Australian Foreign Legion, later merged into the South United Nations Army. There he climbed the ranks surviving the constant attacks from the rest of the world, somehow standing his ground and earning some noteworthiness. By the time the Australian Government collapsed between the external conflict and the internal refugee crisis, reforming into the Emergency World Council, José Alejandro was Lieutenant charged with a unit detached in Bathurst. The dying Australian Government requested his and other units to march on Sydney and secure it from the rebelling Armed Forces, but his refusal was followed with the occupation of western Sydney from Penrith to Ryde.
His action gained the young José some respect in the multinational government. In 2008 he was given the task to guard the Victorian Alps after a massive bombardment devastated the region. Given resources and men, he reconstructed the ski centre of Mount Buller, transforming it into a bomb shelter and underground facility. From his position as Commander of the Southern Alps and Secretary of Interior from 2009 to 2017 he was able to facilitate the coming of Human refugees from South America, augmenting his population base and forming a multinational local force of varying backgrounds, settling in villages to the south and trying to survive the never-ending storm of fire.

José Alejandro Menzendorf

Name: José Alejandro Menzendorf
Alias: “Tuerto”, “One-eyed”
Alignment: Resistance. Menzendorf Family.
Age: 45
Appearance: José Alejandro originally had brown eyes. He has a wide brow and incipient bald forming across his skull and pushing his short brown hair. His hands are fleshy and muscular, and he retains a part of his service-forged corpulence.
Additional physical features: His left eye is obviously blind, having lost the color of his otherwise brown iris.
Personality: Those who know him describe José as being rather outgoing, making it one of his leading strategies, trying to gain confidence and strong bonds with those he directs. He is, however, careful with giving an optimistic image. José can also be explosive whenever these controlling mechanisms are challenged, and is not stranger to violence when it comes to that,
Abilities: Even without the political power he wields within the Rebels, José is a skilled engineer and mechanic, experienced strategist and an effective leader and organizer.
Biography: After following his father into exile and losing both him and his mother in an assassination a week later, José gained an intense hatred for the Metahumans that destroyed his family and hunted them down across oceans. The licensed Engineer joined the Australian Volunteer Foreign Legion, where he excelled in combat shooting and mortar-firing, along with assisting in the reparation and refitting of vehicles and hardware. By this time he had married Isabel Carvallo, an Uruguayan exile with whom he felt in love some time after his parents’ assassination. He soon became a prolific military hardware savvy. In 2005 he managed to organize a retreat from Mildura, protecting a caravan of civilians from Metahuman attacks through the desert. For this he was well on spot for climbing the ranks.
As stated, in 2008 he betrayed the Government in Canberra, having been tasked with defending Sydney from the rebels. Instead of turning on fellow humans, he joined the tide and ensured the full collapse of the government, being instrumental in quickly restoring control over Australia (the populated part at least). For this he was given the seat of Secretary of Interior, which he balanced between being tough on any instability while ensuring that the new Government would be better, at least, than the Nazis that drove his family out of their home. However he already showed his passion for big projects, and began by then the reconstruction of the Victorian Alps, turning them into a fortress system.
His little brother, Martín, died in 2013 in a Metahuman attack in Melbourne. From then on he became somewhat withdrawn from government affairs, and quitted his post in 2017, staying at it only to ensure more exiles could safely come to Australia and strengthen his own ranks. José Alejandro knew that the Humans would soon follow their Metahuman executioners into a feudalized society with ruling families serving as protectors, and they had to be ready when it came down to that.

Name: María Isabel Carvallo
Alignment: Resistance. Menzendorf Family.
Age: 40
Appearance: María has black hair and somewhat elongated face. Her hair is also slightly curly. Her eyes are ambar. She is 1,61 m. tall.
Personality: Confrontational and disruptive, María will often try to assert a rather dominant position from the start. Still, she is calculating when it is required.
Abilities:
Musopathy: María is able to sense the basic instincts of rats. Knowing if they are close by and what they are generally doing. Equally, she can induce their behavior, inputting in their minds simple orders like reproducing, swarming, migrating, eating or starving. With time this ability has become more natural to her, and is able to manipulate in this rather passive way tens of thousands of rats within a ten kilometer radius.
Musolecture: María can jump into the minds of nearby rats to collect their visual, tactile, olfactive and auditive memories. This allows her, combining it with Musopathy, to use various rats or even one as spies.

Swarm Compulsion: María can focus enough on a limited (although still large) number of rats to gain absolute control of them. The orders she can give are no longer mere inducements towards a general objective, they will follow specific orders. As such, María is potentially able to build living structures, move the rats in complicated patters and have them do complicated and delicate tasks. She calls this ability “Flautismo a-la-Hamelin” (Hamelin-style Pied-piping).
Biography: María was born in Montevideo to a working-class family. Her life was rather uneventful until her mother and father divorced. Mother and daughter moved to Colonia del Sacramento. She soon learnt that her mother’s happiness was paramount, and didn’t held the divorce against her. The only time she ever saw her father again was the day they left. On the TV. The man was apprehended alongside others in the political turmoil that gave the government of the country to the Metahumans. María knew then they had to leave, and convinced her mother to pack her things. However, she stayed.
She took a flight to Chile, where she met José only months before the collapse of the government there. She didn’t think a lot about him at first, but after she also fled across the sea to Australia, María fell in love with a bereaving José who had to bury his parents days before.
Although she didn’t serve in the military like José or aided the wounded like his sister Astrid, she felt fulfilled in her refugee status, teaching children English and Maths. After marrying and having their first child, María decided to dedicate herself to something different, ending up as a human Rights campaigner for about a year, until it became apparent nobody really cared beyond that Island. After their second child and a short depression, María re-invented as a book editor.
Instead of being the traditional Latin wife that stays home caring for the children, María struggles each day with her husband’s personality, asserting her own position as a hobby which he seems to enjoy as well. Still working as an editor from their home, she specializes in political essays and books throughout Australia, and sometimes helps his husband read and dissect political speeches by other prominent members of the Alliance. Her firm, “C&B”, is well respected and often assists campaigners and writers throughout the territory.

Name: Federico Menzendorf Carvallo
Alias: “Massivedorf”
Alignment: Menzendorf Family. Resistance.

Appearance: WIP
Additional physical features: Obvious upper body prominence.
Personality: Federico isn’t too patient when it comes to difficulties. But instead of giving up on the chess, he just flips the table and claims victory, steamrolling through whatever he has before him. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t think, but rather that between thought and action there is a very short timespan. He is, along with his father, the one who most openly hates Metahumans.
Abilities: Overall strong and relentless. Federico can bring down most men by sheer strength. He also has rather fast reflexes, most likely from playing Rugby, but potentially from dodging falling debree as well.
Biography: By the time Federico was born his father was considering joining the army, as the conflict with the Metahumans began to escalate. However his earliest memories have not to do with indecision and contemplation, but a simple run for life. He grew to be acquainted to bombings and attacks. In 2006 he was evacuated from a Kindergarden when a series of energy bombs were dropped a block away, and through his years in school after the Coup he learnt protocols of safety and evacuation as he moved through the educational system.
He also was amongst those who learnt that to succeed and survive in this world a regular human only had the alternative to excel in anything. Therefore, Federico was no stranger to pushing his own limits. He grew to be an avid Rugby player, being a strong Lock for the Mount Bull High School Sinks. In his final year he is getting ready, along with his rather prominent upper body building, to join the military service, as it is not only mandatory, but expected for the eldest son of one of the Provincial Governors. This means it’s a rather anxious moment for him, secretly reviving his childhood experiences between bombing raids, and fearing he will have to face them once more, this time in the front.

Name: Santiago Menzendorf Carvallo

Age: 16
Appearance: Santiago's brown eyes are extremely similar to his father's, and anybody would be able to tell the similarities. He let's his hair grow as much a he can, and is currently growing a mullet. Unlike his brother he is rather slender, but seems to be en route to reach his height.
Additional physical features: His left arm has a long scar from the lebow halfway to the hand, clearly a knife cut.
Personality: Santiago is rather jumpy most of the time, a leftover from his early childhood experience. Still, he is mostly able to live with it and quickly lets people know its not voluntary. He can be particularly enraged at times, mostly out of frustration, but in this cases he resembles his father the most. These episodes have decreased with Carolina around.
Abilities:
Trance Auto-inducement. : Santiago can cause his mind to shift in and out of trance on varying levels. This requires concentration and energy to return from the state (thus potentially rendering him incapable of acting right after exiting the trance state.
The trance exists in a spectrum, and he could be increasingly aware of his surroundings, potentially retaining control over his body, as his training pushes the limits.
This is also affected by the usage he gives to such trance, as extracorporeal sensation might be less taxing than extracorporeal projection.
Extracorporeal Perception: Santiago is able to observe from outside his body, acquiring a second point of view of his surroundings. This would allow him to see things out of his eyes’ reach and even hear them. Moving farther away from the source will be more taxing and either it will mean a costly return or even giving up his corporeal consciousness for the time being.
Extracorporeal Projection: With enough concentration and a larger detachment from his body, Santiago could create physical manifestations of his mind in the outside world, all the way to an ethereal image of himself with the ability to see, be seen, hear and speak.
Exanimous Projection: By rendering himself absolutely lifeless while in contact with an integrated phychoactive network Santiago can enter said network and interact with anything or anybody within it. This, however will leave his body in a coma and extremely vulnerable, with severe chances of sudden death if proper care isn’t given.
While in such network, Santiago would be able to communicate within the boundaries of such network with all its constituents. However, he would become the lower stratum in any hierarchy, and could easily become trapped or be destroyed.
The latter or separating Santiago from the substance will make a return impossible.

Santiago is a natural-born marksman and is trained in avarage anti-meta combat.

Biography: Santiago was born in the middle of war, as his father was away too busy staying alive. His mother took care of him and his elder brother, Federico. Like him, he also had to deal with shellshock at an early age. Like his brother, he quickly understood excellence is paramount. Unlike him, he feels its beyond reach. Santiago has developed a perfectionist approach to challenges, whereas his brother rather pushes through them. He will over-analyze before attacking it, and will focus on different aspects, sometimes failing to connect them into something useful.

Despite this, Santiago has developed a rather amazing marksmanship, and knows he will probably have to join the military. This realization into adulthood struck him at the same time his school was bombed, taking several of his friends in the process. Luckily for him, Carolina was soon transferred.
Since meeting the girl that came from New Bendingo his life has seen a rekindle of his own spirit. Motivated to thrive, Santiago joined the local archery team and declared his intention to study chemistry and probably medicine, as he feels comfortable with chemistry and biology at school.
Additional information: He has recently appeared in archery practice with a rather powerful bow.

Name: Carolina Swett Amunategui
Alias: ”Rola”
Alignment: Resistance.
Age: 17
Appearance: Carolina has dark auburn hair which runs rather straight and she often keeps well cut. Her skin is oddly pale and she has freckles. Her eyes are brown and downturned-shaped. She is slightly taller than Santiago.
Personality: Perhaps by accident from being around Santiago, Carolina seems somewhat jumpy at times. However she is generally kind and funny, and most importantly, patient.
Abilities:
Matter Swapping – Carolina is able to rearrange matter on a subatomic level. This means she can dissolve atoms and use the particles to remake them into new elements of matter. The result is equal in mass, therefore the new material, if denser, would be filled with molecule-sized holes that make it foamy. As a limitation, Carolina needs to be in contact with the object for a time, which augments if the object is made of more than one atomic element or complex molecules and much more if the intended target includes many different objects (like glass in the windows of a car). This means that theoretically she could manipulate matter via the air between her and the objective, but the time and concentration such a jump takes makes it impractical. It will also require more concentration and energy if the jump between elements is greater on the atomic number.

Ionic Manipulation – As a side-effect of her ability, Carolina is able to manipulate the electronic charge of objects that she touches, by moving electrons from the medium around into the object she intends to charge. This allows her to charge an object and use it to discharge an amount of energy in the form of electricity. The applications for this are still to be uncovered.

Matter Collapse – This is an originally unintended result of hastened, small-scale transformations, however it could come in handy. Carolina’s ability requires time and focus to maintain the object atomically balanced. However if this is done too fast, or intendedly wrong, the affected object could become many times more massive and dense. The result is a sudden reaction, as atoms fight each other, subjected to massive pressure. In a matter of an instant the object would release a massive amount of energy and explode. This ability requires a relatively light element, carbon and hydrogen, to be rearranged into much denser ones, like uranium. As a result, it does require a massive concentration, and would only have the explosive effect if done sufficiently fast. Thus, it can only be done realistically with single-element objects. It also brings the obvious risk of missing limbs.

Molecular Dispersion – Roughly the other side of the table from the Material Collapse. Carolina is able to rearrange an object’s atoms into extremely light elements, like hydrogen. This means she can, given time and contact, dissolve an object into thin air. Once the object is dissolved, and since Carolina can’t move matter, only rearrange it, she can’t remake it.

She is well trained in counter-meta combat and tactics and is a skilled and certified navigator, able to find ways and orient through large distances.

Biography: Carolina met Santiago Menzendorf roughly six months ago, when she was transferred to his school in Mount Buller. It wasn’t at first sight, though, and she often boasts that she had to work him up into asking her out. Eventually the two began dating. Carolina has felt well-received by the family, even spending some weekends in their Snow House. However, her main struggle has been to do so while being aware her abilities cannot be known.
She lives with a local family that took her in, as her parents died in a bombing run.

Name: Dolores Menzendorf Carvallo

Alignment: Menzendorf Family. Resistance.
Age: 15
Appearance: Dolores has her mother's black hair, but it is straight. Her eyes seem observant and expectant at all times, although somehow they reflect a brown lack of expectations. While she often smiles, it always seems to be a worked-up and prepared smile.
Personality: Dolores isn’t too talkative. According to her father, it has to be a phase. But in her mother’s mind its something else, having worked with refugee children. Dolores is, otherwise, generous with whatever she can be. She also has a tendency to evade responsibilities, schedules and constraints.
Abilities: Abilities: Classification: Comanisfested Paratactility and Errvoyance
Dolores’s powers have been determined to be part of a system of two manifested and highly-coordinated abilities.

Paratactility: Dolores is capable of knowing the layout of solid objects she touches. This power extends for an indefinite range, allowing her to create a mental map of buildings without entering them. It has been established that this information does not use a known physical vector like sound or atomic vibration. Atomic electron disturbances haven’t been ruled out and studies are still ongoing
This sense exists in a delicate balance nourished in years of ignorance and relative containment in Mount Buller. Should she extend her sensing range the detail of the information dissipates and it becomes impractical. Should she find herself in a perfectly isolated environment, like a plane on the air, or a theoretical complete isolation, the information will cause a neurological feedback and bounce back in high levels of distress that leave her vulnerable and neutralized.
It has come to the attention of researchers that suspension in liquid medium seems to neutralize this sense in a safe manner.
Errvoyance: At first believed to be a personal adaptation and behavioral development, recent research done in Kingston indicate that Dolores is able to perceive disparities between reality and perception. This sense is barely understood and has little development by Dolores, as it’s power has mostly rested in detection of awareness.
Errvoyance allows Dolores to perceive most lies and false statements both written and spoken. She can be fooled through bending of truth, but this window shrinks as her training progresses.
This cognition requires a manifestation of error, and while stated disparities with reality are easier to detect, Dolores is also able to detect actions that are in direct conflict with strong truths.
As a nearly-instinctive extension of this cognition, Dolores can perceive actions that come from an intention to do her harm, as it seems the survival instinct has the stronger hold on the concept of truth for her. As such, she can quickly detect hidden threats posed by other people down to the level of non-lethal bodily harm, although with lesser intensity. This does not grant her the power to perceive incoming projectiles, as shown in test files 455/3 and 455/4, but granted that she is in interactive proximity with the threat (thought to be somewhere between twenty and twenty-four meters), she will be able to detect the shot before it is actually made.
Therapy sessions have opened the possibility that Dolores is able to dream farther errors that imply a threat to family members. But given recent circumstances, this possibility is just left at that and does not warrant an exploration for precognitive capabilities.
Complentary Theascopy: Seemingly an ability developed from the unconscious coordination of both Errvoyance and Paratactility. The term “Complementary Theascopy” (theascopy from Greek Théa, “sight”) was given by Finneas Deschamps in Session Briefing 56-A35 to describe what Dolores is able to do which allows her to seemingly detect the exact location of people around her.
An extremely quick detection of discrepancies between perception and reality allow her to detect the adjustments the brains of nearby observers do when presented with the environment Dolores is connected to through Paratactility. The discrepancy highlights in her mental map of the surrounding area the places at which the senses of nearby agents are constantly making adjustments from the constant intake of new information. Technically speaking, if a brain was able to lay still without new imput being added it would become invisible to Dolores. The same would be true for an infinitely-efficient brain which doesn’t create discrepancies between the observation and the reality, instantly adding the final and absolute input as it comes.
This ability has, over the years, used most of the resources provided by the Errvoyantic capabilities of Dolores, thus nearly concealing it from her.
It allows to detect people around her, specifically the places, agents and conditions they are perceiving. Dolores has described it as a highlighting of different “colors”, though she admits they are nothing like any color she has seen before. With proper study, the metahuman is able to tell the patterns of observation of the observer, and therefore theorize a state of mind should it become apparent through erratic or more keen patterns.
Perhaps more practical is the use she has given in various test runs to this ability, allowing her to avoid detection efficiently through various infiltration simulations.

Dolores is trained in basic anti-meta combat.

Biography: Like her brothers, Dolores had to deal with an early childhood littered with destruction and fear. However it was soon better by the time she turned seven, his father quickly making a safe place for her at Mount Buller. Dolores seems, however, to have absorbed, almost unconsciously, some of the lessons of those years. She is able to quite literally get away from anything, whether it is her own room when she is grounded from visiting friends, or from tight situations with the school principal. When asked about it, she simply said that she quickly sees ways out whenever she comes into any place.
Dolores doesn’t date. She swears she never will, as it is rather pointless. Quite paradoxically to her skill at sneaking away, she has said many times that humans are not coming out of Australia. Her father’s reaction to this is not great and ,violence in between, has urged Dolores to keep those thoughts to herself. She has dreams of becoming a pilot, though she doesn’t really believe in them and rarely expresses them.

Name: Estefanía Menzendorf Carvallo
Alias:
Alignment: Menzendorf Family. Resistance.
Age: 10
Appearance: Estefanía has brown hair which is developing waves as she ages. Her face strongly resemble her father's and anybody would pick up the similarities on its shape. Her eyes, however, are amber, just like her mother's.
Personality: Estefanía has shown, with the passing of years, a strange curiosity for things, even for her age.
Abilities: <<Examination Subject B3701
Notes: B3701 is a female underage individual granted N.A.U. citizenship under the American Union Australian Refugee Emergency Act. She currently resides in the continental N.A.U. under close supervision from a caretaker with Clearance Level A51-1 (TV01). The caretaker has since adopted B3701 as a family member and has participated, along with TV02 and TV03 in testing her metahuman manifestation in secrecy.

B3701’s biological sister, ID number B3688, is also noted to be living with TV01 et-al, but her abilities have been widely reported and she is personally aware of them. (see N.A.B.I. Report N°17549, 7/7/2020.)

B3701’s powers are determined to project fear on her surroundings with varying degrees of control.

Fear Projection (PhA03): Basally, B3701 is able to induce a physiological response to fear in nearby beings. It has been established by cross-testing done between 04042020 and 10052020 (refer to File B3701ct-5) that the effects of fear on targets are inversely related to distance, neural simplicity, and state of awakening of B3701. The theoretical field can’t be measured without live testing. No physical manifestation of the field has been reported. As per B3701ct-10a it’s established that on sleep inducement at a 50%, B3701 is able to produce a neutralizing fear physiological response on test mammals (Felis Catus) placed at a distance of 15 meters. Test volunteers reported a similar effect in the vicinity but at greater distances. They don’t seem to evoke any specific manifestation in the fear. (Refer to File B3701tvr04).
Preliminary testing shows that the projection field doesn’t seem to be affected by physical barriers.
Non-conclusive results indicate that some effects might be registered in a unicellular level (refer to File B3701ltr12).

Manifest Fear Projection (PhA04): As per B3701tvr01 -dated 05042020- B3701 is able to be recognized as the source of fear. Test Volunteer 01 reports an instance of B3701 unknowingly making use of her power and causing TV01 to acknowledge B3701 as the being his mind demanded to be set apart from. TV01 reports that B3701 became a different manifestation of herself, looking much more threatening and surrounded by what was reported as ”An aura of blue or electric-blue anti-light” (sic. The phenomenon is referred in the 2019GOMP as “un-light.”) TV01 reported no other individual in the vicinity witness this manifestation, nor felt the basal effects of B3701’s projection field, as if TV01 became the sole unintended target of B3701.
Addendum: TV01 reports a near-irresistible need to flee and considers that the use of Metahuman alterations allowed him to resist that impulse enough to calmly get away from B3701. It is possible that B3701 is able to induce immediate and near-paralyzing fight or flight responses by which a target would be either unable to react or enter a state of miscoordination and general confusion.
 
Catastrophic Biological Response(PhA26): An unconfirmed report submitted as B3701tvr15 -30062020- suggests B3701 is able to generate a variation of PhA04 by which a target (unintended according to TV03) could potentially suffer a catastrophic nervous response. According to TV03 an unwilling test subject (TS74) suffered such an effect on 30062020 in the vicinity of TV03’s and B3701’s residence. The effect was reported to have taken place in the presence of B3701 and TV03 and TS74, with B3701 standing at about 5 meters from TS74. The person had said something that according to TV03 caused B3701 to have a mild emotional response. Seconds later B3701 had left the scene and TS74 reported chest pains and severe nausea. TV03 assisted the person with the use of his own metahuman alteration (ID: BHe09) and silently saved TS74’s life, immediately submitting this report.

B3701dmt98- B3701is established to be the possessor or an item granting her the ability to EsD15. Item A001-75, described as a small pendant given to her by her caregiver -self-identified as A001, imbues B3701 with the ability to influence life in nearby targets. Normally this ability would amount to nothing, as A001 uses his own power to affect other beings through A001-75. But in B3701’s case it theoretically grants her the ability to destroy the neural paths of targets.
EsD15 has such classification since it’s original purpose it to destroy the immanent life force of an individual. As per A001, this manifests by severely impairing the human target, followed a process of organ shutdown -rather than failure. This process is usually accompanied with the manifestation of fire-like burning on the skin, eyes, hair and nails, which however doesn’t emit heat and “burns” under a blue light. Brief history: Although the name suggests a German origin, the Menzendorfs fled South America after the Metahumans took over. Originally settled in the city of Concepción. José Alejandro followed his father Guillermo after the latter fell out of grace with a pro-von Eisenfaust local governor, his name now targeted for assassination. Father, mother and two son and a daughter soon made it to Southern Australia. Both Guillermo and his wife Úrsula were found dead a week after reaching Melbourne, hanged from the ceiling of their apartment and leaving their children behind.
In 2003, a 25 year-old José joined the Volunteer Australian Foreign Legion, later merged into the South United Nations Army. There he climbed the ranks surviving the constant attacks from the rest of the world, somehow standing his ground and earning some noteworthiness. By the time the Australian Government collapsed between the external conflict and the internal refugee crisis, reforming into the Emergency World Council, José Alejandro was Lieutenant charged with a unit detached in Bathurst. The dying Australian Government requested his and other units to march on Sydney and secure it from the rebelling Armed Forces, but his refusal was followed with the occupation of western Sydney from Penrith to Ryde.
His action gained the young José some respect in the multinational government. In 2008 he was given the task to guard the Victorian Alps after a massive bombardment devastated the region. Given resources and men, he reconstructed the ski centre of Mount Buller, transforming it into a bomb shelter and underground facility. From his position as Commander of the Southern Alps and Secretary of Interior from 2009 to 2017 he was able to facilitate the coming of Human refugees from South America, augmenting his population base and forming a multinational local force of varying backgrounds, settling in villages to the south and trying to survive the never-ending storm of fire.

Personality: Those who know him describe José as being rather outgoing, making it one of his leading strategies, trying to gain confidence and strong bonds with those he directs. He is, however, careful with giving an optimistic image. José can also be explosive whenever these controlling mechanisms are challenged, and is not stranger to violence when it comes to that,
Abilities: Even without the political power he wields within the Rebels, José is a skilled engineer and mechanic, experienced strategist and an effective leader and organizer.
Biography: After following his father into exile and losing both him and his mother in an assassination a week later, José gained an intense hatred for the Metahumans that destroyed his family and hunted them down across oceans. The licensed Engineer joined the Australian Volunteer Foreign Legion, where he excelled in combat shooting and mortar-firing, along with assisting in the reparation and refitting of vehicles and hardware. By this time he had married Isabel Carvallo, an Uruguayan exile with whom he felt in love some time after his parents’ assassination. He soon became a prolific military hardware savvy. In 2005 he managed to organize a retreat from Mildura, protecting a caravan of civilians from Metahuman attacks through the desert. For this he was well on spot for climbing the ranks.
As stated, in 2008 he betrayed the Government in Canberra, having been tasked with defending Sydney from the rebels. Instead of turning on fellow humans, he joined the tide and ensured the full collapse of the government, being instrumental in quickly restoring control over Australia (the populated part at least). For this he was given the seat of Secretary of Interior, which he balanced between being tough on any instability while ensuring that the new Government would be better, at least, than the Nazis that drove his family out of their home. However he already showed his passion for big projects, and began by then the reconstruction of the Victorian Alps, turning them into a fortress system.
His little brother, Martín, died in 2013 in a Metahuman attack in Melbourne. From then on he became somewhat withdrawn from government affairs, and quitted his post in 2017, staying at it only to ensure more exiles could safely come to Australia and strengthen his own ranks. José Alejandro knew that the Humans would soon follow their Metahuman executioners into a feudalized society with ruling families serving as protectors, and they had to be ready when it came down to that.

Personality: Confrontational and disruptive, María will often try to assert a rather dominant position from the start. Still, she is calculating when it is required.
Biography: María was born in Montevideo to a working-class family. Her life was rather uneventful until her mother and father divorced. Mother and daughter moved to Colonia del Sacramento. She soon learnt that her mother’s happiness was paramount, and didn’t held the divorce against her. The only time she ever saw her father again was the day they left. On the TV. The man was apprehended alongside others in the political turmoil that gave the government of the country to the Metahumans. María knew then they had to leave, and convinced her mother to pack her things. However, she stayed.
She took a flight to Chile, where she met José only months before the collapse of the government there. She didn’t think a lot about him at first, but after she also fled across the sea to Australia, María fell in love with a bereaving José who had to bury his parents days before.
Although she didn’t serve in the military like José or aided the wounded like his sister Astrid, she felt fulfilled in her refugee status, teaching children English and Maths. After marrying and having their first child, María decided to dedicate herself to something different, ending up as a human Rights campaigner for about a year, until it became apparent nobody really cared beyond that Island. After their second child and a short depression, María re-invented as a book editor.
Instead of being the traditional Latin wife that stays home caring for the children, María struggles each day with her husband’s personality, asserting her own position as a hobby which he seems to enjoy as well. Still working as an editor from their home, she specializes in political essays and books throughout Australia, and sometimes helps his husband read and dissect political speeches by other prominent members of the Alliance. Her firm, “C&B”, is well respected and often assists campaigners and writers throughout the territory.

Personality: Federico isn’t too patient when it comes to difficulties. But instead of giving up on the chess, he just flips the table and claims victory, steamrolling through whatever he has before him. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t think, but rather that between thought and action there is a very short timespan. He is, along with his father, the one who most openly hates Metahumans.
Abilities: Overall strong and relentless. Federico can bring down most men by sheer strength. He also has rather fast reflexes, most likely from playing Rugby, but potentially from dodging falling debree as well.
Biography: By the time Federico was born his father was considering joining the army, as the conflict with the Metahumans began to escalate. However his earliest memories have not to do with indecision and contemplation, but a simple run for life. He grew to be acquainted to bombings and attacks. In 2006 he was evacuated from a Kindergarden when a series of energy bombs were dropped a block away, and through his years in school after the Coup he learnt protocols of safety and evacuation as he moved through the educational system.
He also was amongst those who learnt that to succeed and survive in this world a regular human only had the alternative to excel in anything. Therefore, Federico was no stranger to pushing his own limits. He grew to be an avid Rugby player, being a strong Lock for the Mount Bull High School Sinks. In his final year he is getting ready, along with his rather prominent upper body building, to join the military service, as it is not only mandatory, but expected for the eldest son of one of the Provincial Governors. This means it’s a rather anxious moment for him, secretly reviving his childhood experiences between bombing raids, and fearing he will have to face them once more, this time in the front.

Personality: Santiago is rather jumpy most of the time, a leftover from his early childhood experience. Still, he is mostly able to live with it and quickly lets people know its not voluntary. He can be particularly enraged at times, mostly out of frustration, but in this cases he resembles his father the most. These episodes have decreased with Carolina around.
Abilities: Natural-born marksman.
Biography: Santiago was born in the middle of war, as his father was away too busy staying alive. His mother took care of him and his elder brother, Federico. Like him, he also had to deal with shellshock at an early age. Like his brother, he quickly understood excellence is paramount. Unlike him, he feels its beyond reach. Santiago has developed a perfectionist approach to challenges, whereas his brother rather pushes through them. He will over-analyze before attacking it, and will focus on different aspects, sometimes failing to connect them into something useful.

Despite this, Santiago has developed a rather amazing marksmanship, and knows he will probably have to join the military. This realization into adulthood struck him at the same time his school was bombed, taking several of his friends in the process. Luckily for him, Carolina was soon transferred.
Since meeting the girl that came from New Bendingo his life has seen a rekindle of his own spirit. Motivated to thrive, Santiago joined the local archery team and declared his intention to study chemistry and probably medicine, as he feels comfortable with chemistry and biology at school.

Personality: Perhaps by accident from being around Santiago, Carolina seems somewhat jumpy at times. However she is generally kind and funny, and most importantly, patient.
Abilities:
Matter Swapping – Carolina is able to rearrange matter on a subatomic level. This means she can dissolve atoms and use the particles to remake them into new elements of matter. The result is equal in mass, therefore the new material, if denser, would be filled with molecule-sized holes that make it foamy. As a limitation, Carolina needs to be in contact with the object for a time, which augments if the object is made of more than one atomic element or complex molecules and much more if the intended target includes many different objects (like glass in the windows of a car). This means that theoretically she could manipulate matter via the air between her and the objective, but the time and concentration such a jump takes makes it impractical. It will also require more concentration and energy if the jump between elements is greater on the atomic number.

Ionic Manipulation – As a side-effect of her ability, Carolina is able to manipulate the electronic charge of objects that she touches, by moving electrons from the medium around into the object she intends to charge. This allows her to charge an object and use it to discharge an amount of energy in the form of electricity. The applications for this are still to be uncovered.

Matter Collapse – This is an originally unintended result of hastened, small-scale transformations, however it could come in handy. Carolina’s ability requires time and focus to maintain the object atomically balanced. However if this is done too fast, or intendedly wrong, the affected object could become many times more massive and dense. The result is a sudden reaction, as atoms fight each other, subjected to massive pressure. In a matter of an instant the object would release a massive amount of energy and explode. This ability requires a relatively light element, carbon and hydrogen, to be rearranged into much denser ones, like uranium. As a result, it does require a massive concentration, and would only have the explosive effect if done sufficiently fast. Thus, it can only be done realistically with single-element objects. It also brings the obvious risk of missing limbs.

Molecular Dispersion – Roughly the other side of the table from the Material Collapse. Carolina is able to rearrange an object’s atoms into extremely light elements, like hydrogen. This means she can, given time and contact, dissolve an object into thin air. Once the object is dissolved, and since Carolina can’t move matter, only rearrange it, she can’t remake it.

Biography: Carolina met Santiago Menzendorf roughly six months ago, when she was transferred to his school in Mount Buller. It wasn’t at first sight, though, and she often boasts that she had to work him up into asking her out. Eventually the two began dating. Carolina has felt well-received by the family, even spending some weekends in their Snow House. However, her main struggle has been to do so while being aware her abilities cannot be known.
She lives with a local family that took her in, as her parents died in a bombing run.

Personality: Dolores isn’t too talkative. According to her father, it has to be a phase. But in her mother’s mind its something else, having worked with refugee children. Dolores is, otherwise, generous with whatever she can be. She also has a tendency to evade responsibilities, schedules and constraints.
Abilities: A natural gift to sneak about or talk her way out of situations.
Biography: Like her brothers, Dolores had to deal with an early childhood littered with destruction and fear. However it was soon better by the time she turned seven, his father quickly making a safe place for her at Mount Buller. Dolores seems, however, to have absorbed, almost unconsciously, some of the lessons of those years. She is able to quite literally get away from anything, whether it is her own room when she is grounded from visiting friends, or from tight situations with the school principal. When asked about it, she simply said that she quickly sees ways out whenever she comes into any place.
Dolores doesn’t date. She swears she never will, as it is rather pointless. Quite paradoxically to her skill at sneaking away, she has said many times that humans are not coming out of Australia. Her father’s reaction to this is not great, and violence in between, has urged him to keep those thoughts to herself. She has dreams of becoming a pilot, though she doesn’t really believe in them and rarely expresses them.

Personality: Through her years of service as a doctor, Astrid has grown bold in challenging death. While not as absorbed in hatred for Metahumans as her brother, Astrid is especially stubborn when it comes to war injuries, almost fanatic in doing whatever she can to stop death itself. This makes her rather gloomy in her work time, but on contrast makes her especially happy whenever she gets to see John and Margareth.
Abilities: Skilled physician, specialized in respiratory track injuries and trauma.
Biography: Astrid’s passing through the Australian military wasn’t as eventful as his brother’s. By the time the family left Chile she was studying to become a physician. Unable to complete her studies right away, she served in the army as a field medic’s assistant. When she turned 27 she worked with civilian population as the bombing campaigns intensified. Only when she surpassed her thirties could she continue her studies on a military scholarship.
Since then she has dedicated herself to curing and aiding people, specializing in respiratory tract trauma and burning. This meant she was present in the Raids of Darwin and Wyndham of 2015, which included chemical respiratory agents.
She married Peter in 2005, and together they had a daughter, Margareth. They currently reside in Canberra.

Personality: Peter’s personality is difficult. He is fast to see offense, but also fast to forgive and turn around. Given time, he can gain people without a lot of effort.
Biography: Peter’s personality, although confrontational and flared-up, charmed Astrid pretty fast. He met her in a field hospital. He had been wounded, and she had been called upon to take care of his emergency. His case was bad; a Metahuman had decided to go on a rampage and he was caught in it, being hurled against a wall to end up with a severe ribcage injure. His recovery, however, was sparkled with moments of acid humor he displayed to her. After his release she continued to contact him, much breaching medical code, and they would end up dating, marrying and forming a family.
He served in the military briefly, but walked away after The Coup. Instead he has dedicated himself to architecture, improving buildings to be resistant to alternative bombs, provide better protection against gas and perhaps one day keeping Metahumans out. His fourteen-year-old daughter, Margaret, has said she wishes to do the same. Though he hopes she will be free to do whatever she wants one day.

The local Metas in North America quickly caught wind of her and took her into their custody, not trusting a proper upbringing to her lesser parents. Masters and tutors were called in from throughout the world for her convenience as was proper and she learned from the best. Taught to use both her super natural skills and normal training in combination with one another.

She achieved fame early in her life, helping to put down a resistance attack at the age of fourteen. She and her adoptive family had been attending a parade when the rebels struck. They used explosives to kill a Meta barely younger than herself, she watched as the poor boy who had been her training partner for so long was blown to bits. In a cold rage Alana helped the members of her family hunt down those responsible. It was that day when she killed her first person, it would not be her last.

At age sixteen she struck out on her own, not wishing to be tied down any longer. She wanted to experience the world and help fight the rebels wherever they might show their faces. It was during these many small battles that she slowly became more unsure of her way of thinking. She still believed that Metas were the superior race by far, it was the obvious conclusion. She however was put off by how many metas treated humans throughout the world, many with unnecessary cruelty directed at innocents.
