General Naming conventions
Prut naming conventions legally require a citizen to have a personal name, a matronymic, and a family name (usually a matriname, but somewhat frequently also a toponymic, eponymic, or occupational name); There is some regional and dialectal differences, but the standard would be [personal name][matronymic][family name]. Some regions have two personal names (e.g. Hesperia), some use hyphenated double family names (e.g. often in Raion no kuni, frequently in Hesperia, to a lesser extent in Veleslavia).
Examples:
Female — Astrid Lottesdochter Kopleud => "Astrid" is a typical female personal name, "Lottesdochter" is the matronymic, meaning Astrid's mother's name is "Lotte", and "Kopleud" is a family name, specifically an occupational name signifying that the family has a mercantile background or origin, likely from eastern Neo Prutenia.
Male — Alfred Keldesson Osbochter => "Alfred" is a typical male personal name, "Keldesson" is the matronymic, meaning Aflred's mother's name is "Kelde", and "Osbochter" is a family name, specifically a toponymic identifying the family's origin to be somewhere in northwestern Neo Prutenia (where the Ansbucht, dialectally Osbocht, is located).
Both examples are Standard Low Prut variants and conventions; dialectal names use different spelling or have unique quirks, e.g. in the Hartwold region the oldest living direct female ancestor is always used for the matronymic, and the realms with a different main language frequently use local language variants, e.g. Veleslavia sometimes uses "[female Genitiv form]-sin" instead of "[female Genitiv form]-son" and "[female Genitiv form]-kćer" instead of "[female Genitiv form]-dochter", e.g. "Svetlana Mirekćer Lončar" instead of "Svetlana Mirasdochter Lončar".
Citizens of foreign descent are required to adopt Prut naming conventions upon becoming citizens, e.g. someone named originally "John Smith" would keep the personal name "John", would have to add his mothers name, for example "Janesson" if her name happened to be "Jane". However, a citizen of foreign descent is in most cases required to change their family name as almost all of them are patronymic (derived from a male ancestor, including the mother's "maiden name", since that would be the grandfather's patronymic name). If such is the case, the new family name is typically a toponymic, or less frequently an eponymic.
Regardless of local customs and habits, language used, ancestry of the person, or other distinctions, the name format is always [personal name][matronymic][family name].
What customs, conventions and traditions govern the naming of children in YN?
Children share the exact same naming conventions as everyone else, especially the format. Customs do vary, sometimes considerably, from region to region; e.g. in central and southern Neo Prutenia and western and central Veleslavia a child is not called by their personal name until their sixth birthday, and are referred to by their matronymic instead (holdover from pre-industrial times, when children were less likely tu survive until their fifth year of life; however, the family is now legally 'forced' to give the child a name even if it's not customarily used—laws supersede superstitions after all). Customs also vary on who gets to name the child, e.g. the oldest living female relative is common, but many regions do it "by lot", that is every family member and in some cases the father writing a name on a piece of paper and throwing it in a pot, and then a name would be drawn at random.

/skipIs this an OOC or IC question? Assuming OOC, it made the most sense to me after refining and developing my IC content over the years. It's more appropriate for the Prut as I envisioned them, and it suggest an older, continual culture and identity that's quite distinct from the 'norm'. Also, got annoyed by people assuming I'm another NS Germany-clone; kinda makes me cross that English speakers get a pass when they use the English language but don't base their nation on a major Anglo-nation, e.g. USA, UK, etc, but German speakers are not given the same courtesy. So the matronymic and general female-tending elements are a good indicator that the PM is not "the FatherlandTM" version 31682 or so.

Valentijn “De Sierlijke en Vrij Valkyrie General ov Valentine Z” Samantha Maxwell Delta Weston Stijn Angelus Tracey Mitchell Tristian Marnix Basilisk Lewis Hyatt X. Constantine Sein Lin Zaw Naing. First, your Christian/English name, Valentians typically have a couple of them. Most of them became unisex as decades marched on. They also have nicknames - some long, some short, short phrases, or just callsigns. Then their actual name from their nationality - Valentijn up there is Dutch-Burmese, so the Burmese parts are at the end, Dutch parts on front and middle.

Even those who came from another world, got their names extended as they became naturalized Valentians. Used to be just Anastasia Jolin Thida Myat Yadana Aye, which... is a little long, admittedly, and she is Burmese-Dutch (More Dutch than Burmese).
And there are a lot more. Meta/OOCly, I have created 60-65 characters with these long names.
-----
And there are other non-Sixty Valentians, which is not to say they are lower on the social hierarchy - Some just prefer shorter names. Relatively shorter. This is, for example, the names of the Valentians in the 32nd International Basketball Championships.Point Guards:
