I refuse to believe Ted Cruz is anything but an "Arrested Development" character in real life.

In all seriousness, that's all part of his strategy. He knows he's a hypocrite, but that does not matter because he checks the right marks for a lot of the GOP's base.

Supposedly even other Congressional Republicans personally dislike him.

Well, now with Texas done, we have a couple more primaries comng up, so here's my take on next week(Yes, I know I've been slacking, I've had a lot going on).

Ohio: First stop, Cleveland Central-Akron(11th). This was Marcia Fudge's seat until she became Biden's HUD Secretary, so now it's open with two major candidates on the Democratic side. First, there's the Progressive Nina Turner, President of Our Revolution, a major figure in Bernie Sanders' presidential campaigns, and former State Senate Minority Whip. Besides Sanders and her organisation, she also has the support of Robert Reich, all seven Squad members(including Bush, Jones, and Bowman, don't forget), Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, the service unions(and the BCTGM as well), the Working Families Party, the Gravel Institute(Mike Gravel's last creation before his death, a sort of Anti-PragerU if you've seen them on Youtube), the Sierra Club, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and many more. Against her is the more mainstream Shontel Brown, currently Cuyahoga County Councillor and chair of the County Democratic Party. She has Hillary Clinton, the trade unions, former Governor Ted Strickland, Akron Mayor Don Horrigan, the Ohio Federation of Teachers, the Congressional Black Caucus, and a flock of Pro-Israel organisations on her side. It's quite close and will come down to Cleveland versus Akron. On the Republican side, it's almost a given that LaVerne Gore will get the nod again. Right now, I think that Turner will win both here and in November.

Over now to Columbus-Athens-Wilmington(15th). This is a Republican seat formerly held by Steve Stivers, now President and CEO of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. He, for his part, has endorsed State Rep. Jeff LaRe, who also has a lot of support from State House colleagues. In first place, however, is the Trump-backed Mike Carey, VP of Government Affairs at American Consolidated Natural Resources, a coal company. He also has the backing of House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik. Other prominent runners include former State Rep. Ron Hood, who has Rand Paul's backing, and State Sen. Bob Peterson, who has the support of State Senate Pro Temp Jay Hottinger, the Ohio University Republicans, the Madison County Republican Party, two former Congressfolk, and Wilmington Mayor John Stanforth. Finally, there's State Sen. Stephanie Kunze, who has the Franklin County Republica Party and Maggie's List on her side. On the Democratic side, State Rep. Allison Russo is the clear favourite. Given the polls, I think what we saw in Texas was a fluke and that Carey will win here and in November.

Much opposition comes from tradition rather than from the texts themselves. Even the likes of Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and FDR were opposed to homosexual rights, largely because that was the kind of culture that they grew up in.

I don't mean this in any flame-worthy capacity at all, but consider who you're preaching to. Unless you have a deeper understanding of the Sutras than an actual Hindu from India, don't talk as if you have greater academic authority over his own religion than he does.

And come on man, sure you might disagree with him ideologically, but there's no reason to kick him while he's down. Let his 3-day ban pass, and then you two can get back to butting heads.

Idk why some people think that being a member of a religion is the same as being an expert on it.

I fear it's a bit like with gun control - a majority of the population supports Roe v Wade, and a majority supports more gun control. But those who oppose Roe v Wade or those who oppose gun control tend to be very vehement about it, more likely to be driven to the polls solely because of that issue.

That said, I feel overturning Roe v Wade can easily backfire. Those opposing it will feel they won, so they don't need to go to the polls anymore, and those supporting it will feel outraged, especially with the way the GOP packed the Supreme Court using very dirty tricks, and might go the polls massively to express that rightful wrath.

I remember once having to explain (me, the atheist) to a South American friend, who self-identify as catholic, that Easter was a holiday because that's when Jesus is supposed to have been crucified (on Friday, hence why are supposed to not eat too much, as it's a mourning day) and then resurrected (on Monday, hence why that day you're supposed to celebrate, because it was a miracle).

Department of Justice has decided that Rep. Mo Brooks was not acting in his congressional capacity when he spoke at the Capitol storming rally

The Justice Department declined a request from Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., Tuesday night to intervene for him in a lawsuit brought by a Democratic lawmaker suing him for his role in allegedly inciting the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

In a new filing, the DOJ said it has determined it does not believe Brooks was acting within the scope of the duties of his office when he spoke in front of a pro-Trump rally just before rioters stormed the building, telling the crowd, "today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass."

Brooks had asked for the Justice Department to replace him as a defendant in a lawsuit brought by Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., providing him legal immunity under a law known as the Westfall Act that former President Donald Trump similarly has sought to use to shield him from an effort by columnist E. Jean Carroll to sue him for defamation over his denial of her rape allegation. "We appreciate the thoughtful analysis by the Committee on House Administration and the Department of Justice and could not agree more with their conclusion," Rep. Swalwell’s attorney Philip Andonian said in a statement Tuesday night. "This conduct manifestly is outside the scope of Brooks’s employment as a member of Congress and the House and DOJ made the right call in requiring him to answer directly for his actions. This is a great step toward justice."[...] Brooks has not responded to ABC News' request for comment following the DOJ's decision Tuesday.

They're a party of worthless talking points, corporate astroturfing, and mostly ignorant followers who somehow happened to find media that actively de-educates them.
