The control room is a buzz with activity. They found something on the feeds. A new continent? Another? A whole region? Yes, a whole new region of the multiverse. And initial passes don't show any signs of civilization. This is huge. The Ibican Space Administration is asked to retask a few of their satellites to verify and they see the same thing. Not quite uninhabited. There appears to be some early civilizations around the region. But most of the region appears to be uninhabited. Carrier Group 1 is given orders to investigate the area and establish a foothold along the northwestern coast of the southwestern continent.
Exactly what it sounds like, another "new world" type exercise. This new world is very creatively named "Terra Nova," I'm very original. After YouTube decided to recommend some worldbuilding videos to me I got inspired. As such, I've created terrain, prevailing winds, ocean current, and climate maps which should lend themselves to more detail within roleplay, and more certainty of us all being on the same page of settings.
Why should your nation care about this discovery? Probably money, a little imperialism, and maybe just a genuine desire for adventure.
How will you interact with the natives? Will you trade with them, avoid them, or suppress them?
This world is not entirely empty. There are five peoples organized enough to be called states, but there are many other small tribes scattered all over the region. Terano is the most developed nation on the map, the only one to even have a flag, have built up a nice trade network around the Gulf of Columbia. The names of the other groups are even based on Terano's description of them (Fremada: bastardization of the word for foreigners, Lamaro, meaning of the sea, original being referred to as the trans la maro, or across the sea) The second most powerful would be the Malspeca, who only really interact with the other tribes on Isodora, which they exert much influence over. The Montanoj on Australis are largely isolationist, and are also largely contained from growing due to the mountain range on their east, and the large desert on the other side.
Also! For anyone that wants to be involved, but doesn't feel like their own nation would be likely to, I'd be very much welcome to someone else rping as the main native nations. Especially since I will be one of the colonizing nations, I feel it would be unfair for me to also decide how the natives would react to my own presence.
I won't start the IC thread until a few nations are already signed up.
Questions, comments, snide remarks? Let me know! I haven't run my own successful II thread before so definitely open to suggestions. More maps and application coming soon!
