Well. Current result on the zombie hunt

Dung beetles, (does not have zombie in pre-title or leader) 1 /10 (and proof that zombie is not needed)
Precious nations 21/51 40% find after 5 days
TRR nations 8/14 found nothing today, but so far, 57%, highest rate
Lunaria 17/38 find rate of 44%
Beetles 24/101 that's when I think population has effect on easter eggs rate, 23 find rate.
green hill, 6/33 18% find rate, this somehow, disprove my theory about population

so my overall find rate , after 5 day is 31% 77/247

report is over.

small update

Dung beetles, (does not have zombie in pre-title or leader) 5 /10 Well zombie is really not needed....
Precious nations 36/51
TRR nations 12/14
Lunaria 28/38
Beetles 40/101
green hill, 21/33

So new overall find rate is 57% after 10 days.
seem population really have an effect on easter egg finds. but there is always a chance it take up to 1 month to get it.

as one can see, oldest nations are 12/14 --- 85%
Moons and precious are both around 70% they were created.
green was created after those two farm, 63%
dung beetles are even more recent -- 50%
beetles which are even newer, 39%

Yeah, you should be.

Speaking of which, I got it the other day (actually a long time before, but I didn't notice it in my issue inbox for ages :P). My setup was:
pretitle: "Zombie"
all other custom fields: "brains"
… having never CTE'd before.

Current success in finding zombie egg without CTEing.. is 93 % more details bellow

9/10, for Dung Beetles nations
49/51 Jheinnezslhaunia
14/14 Main rejects
37/38 Lunaria
90/101 Beetles ( between 3 and 4%)
32/33 Green Hill nations

as such, I found the egg on 231 nations out of 247 (not counting Celzlhi or Kazooiomia for their low population (thus I doubt they qualify)
I'm looking at a population requirement of 750 billion or more. like the Halloween egg, who I don't have doubt anymore, require you to have a leader, (not naming it).

Now there is only egg I have no idea how to get.

Edit: I found the egg on 238/239 nations now (since I was not counting Celzlhi who recently got the issue)
the nation I did not found the egg with are Sfalezrilhe, Bee Beetles, Campfire Beetles, Festival Beetles, Party Beetles, Space Beetles, Vampire Beetles, Water Beetles and Winter Beeetles.... you could add Kazooiomia, but I think it do not qualify due to population restriction.

Animal is cow and motto is moo, so yes. Issues don't come up immediately, it's a roll of a many-sided (though somewhat weighted) die. You have to be patient for the eggs to come.

Right now. I was wondering if we need a new easter egg guide, because Drasnia is CTE and will be unable to update this one.

from my finding. I can confirm that aliens require a pizza industry to exist, that zombie Easter egg is triggered by the word brains on two custom fields. that the issues 77 and 430 are found by having 3 and 1 easter eggs, but that is a minimum, that 622 require you to have a leader (which happen at 750 million)

it would be a idea to see this guide be updated, so that people know exactly what are the requirements, especially for 223 and 1122

ON report, I can say I found the zombie easter egg, after 2 month, on all my nation, by having brain in motto and currency, but its probably just in Motto. all 249 of the,.

I just received the zombie attack issue whilst only having the word 'brains' in my motto. I have never CTE'd.

Seconds ago: Following new legislation in Marxist Germany, the flesh-eating lost souls that wander at night serve as a major tourist attraction (Marxist Germany has found 8 easter eggs).

The author of the thread, Drasnia, has since CTE'd. I'm wondering if we should ask moderation to transfer ownership to a different nation or if someone should just create a new thread?

What is an Easter Egg?

An Easter Egg is a special type of issue that nations can only ever encounter once. They're meant to be jokes and references about NationStates that would otherwise not be suitable in a normal issue. They also often have strange and esoteric requirements before being able to receive it. Because of the requirements I just mentioned, it can be difficult to pin down exactly what triggers an Easter Egg. The explanations in this post are as accurate as we as a community have been able to determine, but please keep in mind that this post might not be 100% accurate.

It is advised that you wait until your nation has at least 1 billion population before hunting for Easter eggs. Many of these issues require changing customizable fields and as such smaller nations are often unable to meet the requirements. Furthermore, many of these issues also seem to have a population requirement somewhere around 1 billion, so even if you're able to fill in the fields correctly, you might still be too young to be eligible. This seems to be an intentional mechanic as it ensures only experienced players who can appreciate the content of the Easter eggs will receive them.

Good luck, Hunter.

#77: World To End, Or Possibly Just Mark Anniversary
Full Issue Text

#77 was written by Max Barry and automatically given to every nation on NS' one year anniversary - even to nations who were set to vacation mode. It was later turned into a regular Easter Egg.

Nations become eligible to receive #77 after they have found several other Easter eggs. Currently, the required minimum Easter eggs before #77 seems to be 3.

#78: Should We Pull The Lever? [Meddlers; ed: SalusaSecondus]
Full Issue Text

Nations become eligible to receive #78 if they have "Holy" in their pretitle.

#80: Aliens Wish Peace/Trade Agreement [Exiled; ed: SalusaSecondus]
Full Issue Text

Nations become eligible to receive #80 when they have either "Cow" as the national animal or "Moo" as the national motto.

#215: What's Your Favourite Colour? [Antioch and the East; ed: Sirocco]
Full Issue Text

Nations become eligible to receive #215 if they have a color in their pretitle. The list of colors that trigger #215 most likely includes all 11 options in the issue.

#223: Zombie Attack! [Naliitr; ed: Sirocco]
Full Issue Text

#223 seemingly has two separate ways to become eligible to receive it. The first is to have ceased to exist and then resurrect. The second is to have "Zombie" in you pretitle (and thus not requiring CTE'ing).

#256: Suburbs Are Out Of This World [Scolopendra; ed: Sirocco]
Full Issue Text

The requirements to receive #256 are still not entirely known. It most likely requires high crime rates, but also might require high scientific advancement or specific space program policies. Youth Rebelliousness does not trigger this issue.

#266: Breaching the Great Fourth Wall of @@NAME@@ [Reploid Productions; ed: Reploid Productions]
Full Issue Text

Nations become eligible to receive #266 if they have "Nationstates" in their motto.

#375: Keep Your Hands Off Those Lucky Charms! [Vile Island; ed: Sanctaria]
Full Issue Text

Nations have a chance to receive this easter egg during the month of March. Having "Gold" or "Golden" in your currency or "Lucky" in your motto may also be a requirement.

#408: Pony Peril [Sedgelight Sparkle; ed:Sedgistan]
Full Issue Text

#408 has an interesting story behind its validity. Currently, nations become eligible to receive it when they have "friendship" included in their motto.

#430: Please, Sir, We Want Some More Issues [Eta Carinae; ed: Luna Amore]
Full Issue Text

It is believed that the requirement for #430 is to have answered 250 or 300 issues and having your issue speed set to "No throttle."

#471: Red Sleigh Down [Nation of Quebec; ed: Sanctaria]
Full Issue Text

Nations become eligible to receive #471 during the month of December and when they have Christmas-related words in their pretitle or other customizable fields.

#622: A Holiday Masquerade [The Grim Reaper; ed:Lenyo]
Full Issue Text

Nations become eligible to receive #622 when their national animal is set to anything that contains any of several Halloween-themed creatures, such as monster, bat, vampire, zombie, or ghost. Creatures like wombat also work as it contains 'bat' within it.

#1122: Just Say No to E [Zwangzug; ed: Zwangzug]
Full Issue Text

Nations become eligible for #1222 when none of their customizable fields contain the letter 'e'.

I have less than 1 billion population and I got an easter egg.

Is there a way to discover which Easter Eggs a nation already has?
I received several before I was interested in them and now that I'd like to collect more, I have no idea which I already have. :(

You can only tell which ones you've completed if you make a list of them as you go along (or have a really good memory).
Hover the cursor over the 'Easter Egg' badge on your nation's page and it will tell you how many you've done.

Found an Easter egg so decided to copy the issue and post it here
Name: 20 years a workin

The clock chimes as you finally get home. Eleven bells. Is it really almost midnight? Your head is swimming from a day filled with inane meetings about park benches, how big supersize meals should be, and whether or not nuclear annihilation would really be a bad thing in the age of global warming (you figured it’d probably be fine, on balance). As you settle at your desk to finish a couple pieces of correspondence, you realise you’ve been doing this thankless job for twenty years now. Twenty years! A cause for celebration indeed, so maybe you can spare a couple of minutes to take a break. Thus the masochist within you has decided that, to celebrate this anniversary, “unwinding” on NationStates before bed would be “fun”. There’s so many things to do, though, and so little time — so what do you focus on?

The Debate

Ah, the General Assembly. The perfect place to go if you really want to waste time debating whether or not “shall” or “will” in a piece of legislation results in banning opposite-sex marriages, or potentially criminalising making your favourite horse a member of parliament. The friendly regulars, the welcoming Old Guard; they don’t exist in the General Assembly. It’s a free for all. It’s sink or swim, baby. Publish or perish. Only lawyers need apply. Or something to that effect. If you want to exert control over what is and isn’t legal in other nations, though, and mould a multiverse in the image of your own ideals, the General Assembly is exactly where you want to spend your time.

Accept

Then again, your trigger finger is itching to do some damage in International Incidents. First, you need to find a willing enemy. Then, you can demarcate the boundaries of bloodshed so no uninvited armies can interfere. And finally, you can test out those weapons of mass destruction that you’ve been eyeing in the shopfronts — only with your enemy’s permission, of course. Middle Green Irthistanians aren’t monsters.

Accept

Thinking on it, though, who needs permission? There’s a whole world of regions out there, ripe for the taking. Even working alone, there’s plenty to be accomplished, if you’re content to play the long game. A word in the right ear here, a polite request for an endorsement there, it’s all too easy playing a role — they’ll never suspect who you were until it is far too late. Now which region was it you’ve always wanted to take down?

Accept

Of course, if a thrill is what you’re after then there’s bound to be a Sports tournament you can sign up for. Unfortunately, that’s no guarantee of success; Middle Green Irthistan’s athletes are at the mercy of fate! Maybe you should call upon the priestess Margaret to sacrifice 1093 rubber chickens to the random number deities on your behalf. But you’d better move fast, because it’s almost cut off time!

Accept

That said, something inside has been gnawing at you. It has been a while. You look at the top of the page and see that you have five issues to address. The reason you first joined NationStates was to continue making decisions outside of work, even if those decisions had no real-world consequences. Except for those meaningless little golden badges on your page. Deep down in your heart of hearts, you know it’s time to answer issues on all of your puppets. After all, you’re just a primate who can’t help but to push buttons for a dopamine release.

Accept

You then remember that the United Federation Intelligence Agency recently published the latest version of its World Factbook, a widely used resource amongst foreign diplomats for information about the world’s nations. Much of the information it contained about Middle Green Irthistan was just plain wrong, and your own diplomats found themselves fielding dozens of calls asking if it was true that you had been replaced as leader by a Wunderphus. How much easier it is to set the record straight when you write your own factbooks! The stats are all wrong anyway — your words will tell the real story. If only somebody would read them.

Accept

Going to your Nation Page, you spot the little card icon staring back at you. Clicking it, you realise you have twenty-two copies of your own trading card. Perhaps this is a good time to add some variety to your collection — there are plenty of ongoing auctions, ready for you to swoop in at the last moment. All it takes is a nation, or fifty, to start sending you some gifts to sell. If you become wealthy enough, you can disguise your narcissism as altruism and stage a giveaway, or hoard a card that nobody will care about until you inflate its price to a ridiculous valuation. With every new pack comes the possibility of a legendary find...

Accept

The real treasure, however, is the hidden content. Do people even know about the NationStates Against Humanity minigame? Or the Challenge System? You should load up the secret URL and just wait an hour, or three, to see if anyone starts a game. Who cares if no-one turns up? You’ll get that great feeling of knowing that you’re part of a special elite, a secret Illuminati privy to mysteries that the hoi polloi know nothing of.

Accept

Out of nowhere, you’re struck with the sort of idea that normally only occurs to one of your loopy cousins after a indulging in a mix of self-prescribed herbal remedies: what if you just bought the whole website? That Max Barry fellow certainly couldn’t object to a new swimming pool filled with cash, courtesy of your National Treasury. With NationStates under your personal control, the site could finally have unending nuclear war! Zombie apocalypses that permanently affect your population! An IPO that actually earns you money! Maybe the admins could even bring back NationDates...

Accept

Seriously though, it’d be a terrible shame to waste all that money on a game where other people have the audacity to think their opinions matter — why, you’ve got literally all the answers to pressing real-life conundrums right here, inside of you! Indeed, people in general really should listen more to you. Wait, what is this? People in General arguing about left and right wing extremism? Gun control? Opinions on capitalism and cancel culture? Oh, abortion! *knuckles crack* Yes, the world needs to hear from you on this.

Accept

Alas, the tyranny of choice is just exhausting. You had a long day, and you’ve spent so much time trying to decide what part of NationStates to play, it’s almost time for bed. So how about you roll up your sleeves, pour a drink, and then just chill in one of the spam game threads for five or ten minutes? Whether it’s pretending to be a brony, or calling the AN a talentless troubadour, sometimes reverting to childhood silliness is the best way to spend one’s time.
