Age of Darkness

It is an era of legends and myths. The countless legions of the Emperor of Mankind have marched across space to the four corners of the Galaxy in the Great Crusade, destroying all who would resist the Emperor and His Imperial Truth. The end of the Age of Strife and the rebuilding following the Old Night appears nigh. His Armies stand victorious, and there are none left in the Galaxy with the might left to resist Him and His children, the demigod-like beings called the Primarchs, and their own children, the Legiones Astartes, the Space Marines. Upon the world of Ullanor, the Emperor broke the ork empire of Urrlak Urruk, the final threat to the Imperium of Man.

It was the culmination of two centuries of nigh-incessant warfare and the death of billions of humans, the scouring of thousands of worlds of all life, the extermination of hundreds of species. Ullanor was the Emperor's greatest triumph, and upon the world, the Emperor named one of his children as his Warmaster, to conclude the Great Crusade He had begun, while He retired back to Terra for reasons unknown.

The Emperor never arrived. Days passed, as it was dismissed as simply being the vagaries of Warp travel. Days became weeks, but as the Astronomicon still blazed bright and the Imperium still ran smoothly, worries were dismissed. The Emperor would arrive any day now.

Weeks became months. The War Council, chaired by Malcador the Sigillite, stated that in the absence of the Emperor, the War Council would collectively rule the Imperium until the Emperor should return. This caused no amount of disquiet among the ranks of the Primarchs, as their roles as leaders of the Imperium's armies would keep them far from the War Council upon Terra, and among the ranks of the War Council itself, as many believed that the vast and lumbering organisation would not be able to function as a substitute in the place of the Emperor's will. The War Council proposed to name Malcador as Imperial Regent; Malcador declined, stating that the Emperor had intended for the War Council to rule collectively, not with a substitute Emperor in His absence.

With Malcador's refusal, the War Council turned instead to the loudest of the supporters for an Imperial Regent; the Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes, Constantin Valdor. Believing that indecisive, collective rule would weaken the Imperium, Valdor put himself forwards to the War Council as Imperial Regent, but was voted down by the War Council. Ever a man of decisive action and not wishing to see the Imperium die a slow death from paralysis, Valdor, along with his supporters in the Council and Imperial Army, held a session of the War Council from which the Custodes barred Malcador and his supporters, unanimously voting Valdor to be Imperial Regent.

Malcador, outraged, declared the vote to be illegitimate and a blatant coup, along with his supporters. Valdor, in response, had the Grand Provost Marshal of the Adeptus Arbites arrest those who supported Malcador on grounds of sedition and treason. Malcador was only able to flee Terra due to the aid of the Officio Assassinorum, along with a handful of his supporters. Regrouping upon the world of Nova Terra, Malcador called upon the Imperial Army and the Legiones Astartes to remove Valdor from Terra and crush his coup. Valdor called upon the same to crush the seditionists. All the while, the newly-named Warmaster stands with legal authority over the full might of the Imperial military, yet such power is untested and new, and challenged.

The Imperium of Mankind, once upon the edge of an Age of Light, now stands upon the edge of an Age of Darkness.

6 ) Respect the Operators and Admins. If we have to weigh a ruling it will be done as a collective and it is final.
7 ) Applications are subject to Operator Team changes and suggestions being made as a collective. OP rulings by yours truly are final only if the OP Team cannot agree as a collective.
8 ) As a general rule, legions will be soft-capped at a maximum of 250,000 unless there are extremely good reasons provided for exceeding such and stellar domains should a) be proportional to how late the Primarch is found and b) the size of legion domains should be greater the later a Primarch is found. In regards to the latter, bear in mind Ultramar is very much an exception to the rule of the average size of legion domains, which could range anywhere from a single world up to 80 typically.
9 ) Rules subject to amending as needed.
10 ) Tau is banned. This rule is not subject to appeal.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Titania Ironheart
Alias: Empress of the Voln Empire(Former), Supreme Consul of Voln, The Titaness of Voln, The Witch Queen, the Forge Mistress, the Amazon
Appearance: (Please put image in spoilers)
Archetype: Psyker/Strategist/Forge Master
Personality: Generally reserved, but blunt and matter-of-fact. To her legion and those who become her friends she is much warmer.
Fault: Titania has an exceptional temper, when roused. She can also be prone to arrogance at times.
Backstory: Landing upon the alpine world of Voln, Titania was quickly discovered by some of the local human inhabitants, and taken to their Hold in one of the many mountain ranges on the world, vast fortress-cities where the last of the humans of Voln sheltered from aggressive xenos species.

A curiosity as to her means of arrival on the world, Titania was still nevertheless a baby, and thus was adopted into a prominent family within the High Peak Hold, the local Foreman, who oversaw all of High Peak Holds industry. The unnatural nature of Titania soon became apparent, with her advanced ageing and growth, and her immense ability for learning. Her psyker powers also began to develop, and she was quickly given the best turos the Hold could provide. Even with all these developments her adoptive family loved her as their own, raising and teaching her in their own way as well. Her father regularly brought her along to his work, and she learned the processes of industry and forging.

Her raw power as a psyker saw her quickly eclipsing anything any of the local psykers could possibly dream of, and while they couldn’t train her properly, they taught her the basics of control that would always go on to be the foundation of her own self-learning.

As Titania grew she learned more about Voln. It was a world under siege, the last remnants of an advanced and thriving human civilization forced into the mighty Holds, and placed regularly under siege by xenos known as the Orks, or Greenskins, among others, with only the valiant Voln Iron Guard holding the line, the military organization that all citizens served in some way, either through front-line service or being placed into one of the auxiliary services. When it came to Titania’s time to serve, she was already a towering demi-god, rising well above even the mightiest Ork on the planet, and her intelligence and raw ability, both physical and psyker, had already marked Voln for a new era.

Ever humble, Titania joined the Voln Iron Guard, forgoing offers of military scholarship and general staff training, opting instead to head to the front lines. Before leaving she and her father forged her a weapon, as no conventional weapon would suit her. Side by side with her father, they poured in every ounce of forging knowledge they had, using the limited advanced technology in the Hold, and Titania even imbued the mighty weapon with the power of the warp. Thus Ork Bane was crafted, a mighty Thunder Hammer that could crumple even the thickest of armor.

Leaving for the front, Titania was eager to do her part. She was a very odd addition to the Voln Iron Guard, which traditionally functioned on extreme discipline, delivering precise and powerful volleys into the Ork hordes, fighting in close order and precision. As a soldier she excelled, often using the heaviest of weapons to great effect, but she quickly found she was not being used to her true potential, and under her own initiative she began charging forward, meeting the Ork charges with her own, supported by her comrades from afar so that she could go all out in melee, unleashing her immense psyker skills and shattering entire armies of the Greenskins.

Very quickly Titania changed the course of Volns history, humbly accepting command of High Peaks Iron Guard formations, she planned and undertook a global offensive, coordinating with the other Holds in slow and meticulous offensives and holding actions, drawing the Greenskins into battles where they had little chance of victory. Titania was at the head of these offensives, destroying swaths of the enemy with ease, and always facing down the Ork leaders, emerging triumphant in all such fights.

Within fifteen years, Titania had led the humans of Voln to total victory over the Greenskins, scouring the world of their filth. Naturally she was named as the ruler of Voln, and she set about rebuilding the world, as her ambition was not yet satiated. A decade after taking the rulership of Voln, Titania was leading its first starships throughout the star system and beyond, finding new worlds and other civilizations. With the human civilizations she brought them under her rule, by diplomacy or war. With the xenos species she annihilated them or contained them, depending on if they posed a threat or not, not wasting time and resources to kill those who were no threat.

Thus the Voln Empire grew, swiftly expanding in the galactic North to be an expansive realm, her expansion soon coming upon the mighty Forge World of Lucius. After much negotiation the Forge World and the Voln Empire entered into a stead-fast alliance, and the military forces of the Empire exploded in size and power, fueling ever more conquests and expansions.

The first true obstacle was discovered soon enough, a vile xenos species called the Mitu, on the eastern borders of the Voln Empire. These xenos proved to be powerful foes, and battles against them were bloody. Knowing to press into their territory meant she would severely weaken her own forces, Titania instead set about constructing vast fortresses along the border, both in space and on the world's most in danger.

This stalemate would continue until the Imperium of Man and the Emperor finally came to the Voln Empire. Initial contact was tense, but when the Emperor and Titania met in person, for they had already met in the warp, a treaty was swiftly established, bringing the now renamed Voln Dominion into the fold of the Imperium, though with some self-autonomy.

Now standing beside her gene-sons, the Leviathans, and her genetic father, the Mitu War picked up once again. The campaign was still bloody, but with the Astartes and Imperial forces at her side, the Mitu were soon overwhelmed and exterminated, the worlds they had held control over brought into the Voln Dominion.

Titania resigned her title as Empress of Voln, taking up the mantle of Supreme Consul of Voln instead, leaving behind trusted advisors as she went off beside the Emperor, both to learn more about the Imperium and also to undergo much greater training of her psyker talents. Returning to her legion after some time, she and the Leviathans campaigned alongside the Emperor for a few years before the Emperor departed to other fronts.

Since then Titania has amassed a considerable record, and become well known for her methodical, precise campaigns.

War Gear:

The Legion
Preferred Numeration: VIII, the Imperial Leviathans
Primogenitor: Titania Ironheart
Noteworthy Domains: The Voln Dominion
Combat Doctrine: Psyker warfare
Gene-Seed: The Flesh Change, though since unification with Titania, the Leviathans gene-seed has become more stable, and cases of the Flesh Change have become much rarer.
Preferred Size: 50-60 thousand
Appearance: (Please put image in spoilers)
Origins and History: The Leviathans have always stood out among the Astartes legions because of the number and power of their psykers.

The Leviathans distinguished themselves many times in the crusade, but what many consider their greatest triumph was being united with their Primarch, the bond tested almost at once in the fires of war against the vile Mitu xenos. After a quick and brutal campaign, the xenos were all but exterminated, and the bond between Titania and her gene-sons had a solid foundation upon which to grow. After the victory over the Mitu, the Legion spent roughly a year in the Voln Dominion, associating themselves with the empire their gene-mother had created, and naturally starting to integrate themselves into it, establishing fortresses, training centers, and otherwise getting to know the locals, both civilian and the military elements that would now be folded into the Imperial Army, though maintain their name as the Voln Iron Guard, with the legion adopting some local customs and aesthetics. Many in the legion take extra pride in their gene-mother for creating such an empire.

Once Titania’s own tutoring by the Emperor and the Sigillite, both in the workings of the Imperium and further schooling in her immense psyker powers, she returned to her legion and together they campaigned alongside the Emperor personally for another few years, before being sent on their own path.

They ensure the smooth running of everything the legion needs to be effective, being in charge of the armorers, logistics, discipline and well-being of the legion off the field. Several members of the Praefectus oversee the training of Aspirants and Prospects. It is a great honor to be selected to be a Praefectus.

Magi Council: A collection of the strongest psykers of the legion, the Magi Council is led by Titania herself. They are responsible for overseeing and training their fellow psykers within the legion. Together they also carefully delve into study of the warp, to better strengthen and sharpen their power and understanding of their abilities.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Victoria Ave Aldatia
Alias: The Eagle, The Favored Daughter, The Aquila, Primarch of the 2nd, Queen of Aldatia.
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Knight/Leader of Men
Personality: Dignified and soft spoken, Victoria is the perfect outcome of her breeding and upbringing and can almost be said to be kind hearted. As the Daughter of the Emperor certain things are expected of her and she does them. As the Queen of Aldatia she is stern and cold when needed but also warm and welcoming. Victoria is also one who tries to hold herself to the highest standard when judging others, there is always more than one side to a story and to be just and fair one must hear everything out. This is why when dealing with her siblings she is genuinely friendly and happy, for they are her equals and no matter what she might hear of them, their side of the story must be heard too.

The love she holds for her siblings is displayed often. The extravagant, or simple if her sibling so wishes it, welcome parties that are thrown by Victoria whenever she meets her siblings can be the stuff of legend. So are the gifts she gives each sibling. Upon seeing them she ensures to gift them something, one gift for each anniversary of their founding by the emperor has passed. Each gift is usually worthy of an king yet all of them share the same love and thoughtfulness which mark them as being from Victoria, each Primarch would know she had put great time and effort into selecting the gifts.

She can also be very dramatic in how she operates.
Fault: Ironically suited for the planet she grew up on, Victoria is blessed with a pair of wings that allow her to bear her large figure and which can protect her from blade and bullet. At the same time she is also cursed with a sense of Foresight. Through feverish dreams she has seen her own death a hundred times, always in flashes and always uncertain. She hopes that the unclear ways that she sees her own death when compared to the clarity of some other visions means that her end is far off still.
Backstory:
Like all of her siblings, Victoria was created underneath the Emperors Palace within his laboratory and was stolen away by the forces of chaos. Her life pod touched down upon the feudal world of Aldatia in the Segmentum Solar. Aldatia is a planet unlike any other in the known galaxy. Through a combination of magnetic irregularity and dark age technology, much of the planets landmass floated.

Victoria landed upon the largest of such land masses, Aldatia Prima. Named after the planet the floating continent was home to a single nation which also was the world's single super power. Victoria was initially adopted by a father and mother she doesn't know the names of, for they were of the peasant class and when her abnormal growth came as it did to all her siblings, she was taken away from the family and adopted into the Royal family.

Her second adoption did not come merely because of her abnormal growth, no it came because of her wings. On many other planets, Victoria may have been put to death for such a mutation, but not on Aldatia. For the people of Aldatia worshipped a species of Giant Eagles now known as the Aldatian Great Eagle. The backwards people of Victorias home planet saw her as basically a Demigod.

As Victoria grew under the tutelage of the finest minds the world could muster, she also came into another of her abilities. Many a night she would awaken, out of breath and covered in sweat. Her dreams of death, war, and other factors of her later life came back to her vividly. Victoria had been blessed with a manner of Foresight. She could see, mostly uncontrollably, into the future. She learned this when one such dream of a dagger flying past her face came true when an assasination attempt upon her life by a group of heretics was foiled.

One dream always seems to come back to her though and that is of her death. Blood, blades, and feathers cover her view in these dreams and she can never glimpse at the how, when, or why of her death. But she does know from the bottom of her soul that these glimpses she is seeing is indeed of her death, she can only hope that the fact it is so unclear only means it is not close.

Warfare on Aldatia was an uncommon thing, it was made this way when her adoptive grandfather Imperius Ave Aldatia conquered the largest land mass and made it so. However Aldatias adoptive father, Imperius the Second, had decided that it wasn’t enough and planned to use Victoria to make it that way.

Imperius the Second had always treated Victoria as nothing but a tool. He bought her tutors, her arms and her armor, her friends, and he even tried to buy her a lover. He groomed her to be the perfect heir. She was regal and dignifie to the fault. This was something that made her adoptive mother loathe her.

With three children sired by Imperius, her Adoptive mother felt slighted that Victoria had basically ruined her and her children's chances at true power. So it came on her 3rd “birthday” when she had reached full maturity, that her mother and the other traitorous conspirators struck. All three of her adoptive siblings included.

In a victory parade following the capitulation of the final holdouts upon the planet, an explosion rocked her fathers Sky Carriage, killing him instantly. In a flash of foreboding Victoria had just left the carriage, unsure as to what was about to happen but simply knowing that she had to move. At the same time attacks were occurring across the capital city and elsewhere by traitors upon those troops thought to be loyal to her.

The Civil War which followed was a brutal but short affair. Victoria rallied her troops and using the experience she had gained from wagging her fathers wars, lead a campaign to retake the capital and kill the traitors.

The Battle to Retake the capital lasted a standard terran month and saw the use of Victorias potential to the fullest. She excelled both as a front line fighter as she soared into enemy fortifications and caused death with every stroke of her blade and as a strategist, using her innate knowledge of both her foes and of the city to drive them back step by step.

The Traitors final stand came in the throne room as they attempted to set off a derelict nuclear bomb which would have taken Victoria and many of her troops out with them. It was only due to the daring assault by wing troopers (using machines which were precursors to the jump pack) lead by Victoria herself took the throne room and destroyed the bomb before it could go off.

The trials of the surviving traitor leadership were swift and their executions announced. They were thrown from the floating continent as was customary of the planet. Peace had finally come after half a year of warfare and Victoria now ruled uncontested as the Eagle Queen of Aldatia.

Victoria would rule fairly and without much political upheaval for the next two years before everything changed, before the Emperor came. The Emperor in all his glory came down upon Aldatia like the rays of the sun breaking through the clouds of a long storm. His golden vessel Bucephelus was viewed by the people of Aldatia as he came down to meet his daughter.

Victoria had seen all this, she had seen his face, his ship, and much more in countless dreams for the past year. Nothing in her dreams told her who this was, but she knew, she knew this was her father. Her real father. She had been created almost fifty years before and had arrived on Aldatia barely 4 years past, now she would be going “Home”.

She had announced his coming months prior to his arrival and so it was with great fanfare and joy that the people of Aldatia gave to the Emperor as he met with his daughter. Unbeknownst to them, the rest of the Imperium celebrated as they did, for the news had reached them that at last, a lost child of the Emperor had been found. The Great Crusade was still in its infancy yet already good news had reached home.

Victoria greeted her fathers arrival as she thought best, embracing her long lost sire in front of the gathered peoples of Aldatia before kneeling before him and swearing herself to him as was right. What came next for her however, she had not seen in her dreams.

She had been bread to lead the Imperiums armies to victory in her fathers name. She expected to lead her people and other mortals into battle but instead, she would lead her children. Upon hearing of her finding, the Second Legio Astartes, then called the Sky Phantoms, rushed to her.

In a great ceremony, which would be echoed only a few years later, Victoria was raised to the head of the Sky Phantoms. She and her legion would go on to win great victories in the Emperors name, often fighting beside the Emperor and His custodes.

In one such campaign, now known as the Giviana Cleansing, the Emperor and Victoria lead a Diplomatic mission to bring the Planet into the fold. Meeting the leaders of the planet in their palace, the Emperor and Victoria were ambushed by the foe.

Due to the effect of two Psychic Blanks among the assassins, the Emperor was weakened. Though we later would learn this was feigned by the Emperor in order to gauge the Worthiness of his Daughter and her Legions, the Actions of the 2nd legion and Victoria were not feigned.

Victoria and her Personal Guard, then known as the Winged Talons and now as the Eagle Guard, lept into action. Throwing their bodies in front of the Archeo-Tech bolts of energy which were aimed at the Emperor, the Guard were struck down. Their duty in the moment to protect the Emperor was done. Victoria herself struck down the two Blanks and with the two present Custodes, went to work eradicating the remaining Assassins.

Judging her and her Legion worthy, the Emperor in a grand ceremony, granted the Second Legion the right to bear his personal mark, the Aquila. With this done, Victoria renamed the Legion to honor her father and to thank him for such a reward. The Sky Phantoms were no more, for they were now the Emperors Eagles, the Legio Aquila.

With its new Adornment the Emperors Eagles cast the entirety of their minds and bodies into the Great Crusade. Conquering swaths of planets and stellar nations, both human and xeno, and bringing them into the fold which was the Imperium of Man.

War Gear:
Fate: A mastercrafted power sword gifted to Victoria by the Emperor when he granted her legion the right to the Aquila. It’s pommel is in the likeness of the Aquila.
Image

Arma Aquliae: Found in a hidden vault during one of the many conquests of the Second Legion, this power armor is greater than any barring those worn by her siblings and the Emperor. It is thought to be lost technology from the Dark Age of Technology and has been fitted to be worn by Victoria.
Image

The Talon of Aldatia: A mastercrafted power gaunlet with a built in bolter which allows Victoria to both crush her enemy and to strike them down from afar. (Basically Hand of Dominion)
The Helm Aquila: A piece of her armor which was forged by her sister Primarch Titania. Within it lies a powerful Refractor shield to protect her when all else fails.

The Legion
Preferred Numeration: 2nd, II
Primogenitor: Victoria Ave Aldatia
Noteworthy Domains: Aldatia (Homeworld), Teria V and Ultima Signari (Allied Forgeworlds, Calrad and Revin (Recruiting Worlds).
Combat Doctrine: Fast attacks using aerial drops, jump packs, and drop pods to get in close and cause damage to the morale, infrastructure, and wellbeing of enemy forces. This would be followed by more conventional Astartes and Mortal troops moving into mop up the hopefully fractured enemy.
Gene-Seed: The Geneseed of the Eagles is among the most stable of the gene-seeds available to the Legions. However it does possess one noticeable effect in that 1 in about 7500 marines shares the Genetic Mutation of their gene mother. These Astartes are blessed with the growth of wings from their backs. While not comparable to the strength nor toughness of their mothers wings, they still get the job done and allow the marines to soar better than any jump back would otherwise allow them to. These marines are immediately taken from basic training and are instead subjected to an even more rigorous regime before being inducted into the Primarchs own unit and bodyguard.
Preferred Size: 140,000
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: Originally the Sky Phantoms, the Second Legion was the second of the Legio Astartes to be formed. They did serve for long without their Gene Mother, but in the time that they did, they earned much accolades.

Their Original name “Sky Phantoms” came during one of many campaigns when an attached Imperial Officer was quoted as saying “They came down upon the foe like Phantoms from the Sky”.

After reuniting with their Gene Mother and Earning their new name as the Legio Aquila. The Second Legion began to change, being reorganized into what it is now. A sense of arrogance has crept into the Legion at being granted the Aquila, however it is kept hidden and is frowned upon by their Mother.
Legion Organization and Structure:
Chevron: Paper Strength 10,000 Marines and are lead by a Legatus. There are currently 14 such Chevrons which make up the Legions main unit which it wages war with.
Winged Spear: Paper strength of 1,000 Jump Pack Equipped Marines, Lead by a Winged Captain.
Spear: Paper Strength 1,000 Marines and are lead by a Captain.
Blade: Paper Strength 100 Marined, Lead by a Lieutenant.
Winged Blade: Paper strength of 100 Jump Pack Equipped Marines, Lead by a Winged Lieutenant .
Legion Command Hierarchy:
Eagle Queen: Victoria
Legatus Primaris: Temporary leader of multiple Chevrons. Can only be Appointed by Victoria.
Legatus: Marines must earn their wings and have served as a Sergeant to be available for promotion to Legatus.
Captain/Winged Captain: While the same rank, they lead different types of formations. Marines must have earned their wings and have served as a Sergeant to earn this rank.
Lieutenant/Winged Lieutenant: While the same rank, they lead different types of formations. Marines must have earned their wings and have served as a Sergeant to earn this rank.
Sergeant: The Leader of 10 man Squads, these Marines are always former Assualt Marines who have given up their wings in order to either be eligible to advance in rank or to lead the inexperienced ground marines, usually both.
Marine/Winged Marine: Technically the same rank however serving in different formations. The Winged Marines are always above Marines in Seniority however.

Specialist Formations:
Aquila Singulare: Also known as the Eagle Guard, these Marines are the Bodyguard of the Primarch and are almost all Veterans of countless campaigns. These Marines are armed with the Eagle Talon Power Spears (Phoenix Power Spears)
The Eagles: Those Marines who have been blessed with the growth of wings much like their gene mother. They are a subset of the Eagle Guard and are looked upon as the closest that Marines can get to their mothers level.
Image

Legion Wargear: Almost half of all marines are assualt marines and so the legion is home to a much larger amount of Jump Packs and melee weapons than seen in others. Otherwise standard loadout.
Legion Vehicles: Standard other than the Incaendius Contemptor Dreadnought
Legion Fleet: Gloriana Class Battleship Wrath of the Emperor which is armed with a dual Nova Cannon beneath its prow along with several dozen lance batteries, bombardment cannons, and macro cannons, the Wrath also is home to a very sizable hangar system. The fleet also consists of 14 Battle Barges, 7 Battleships, 6 Battlecruisers, 32 Strike Cruisers, 63 Light Cruiser sized equivalent vessels, 143 Escort vessels.
Legion Relics: The Eagle Banner: Carried into battle at some point by each of the Eagle guard. This banner bears the Aquila and was given to the Legion by the emperor upon earning that right. It both is a monument of great pride for the Legion and also a way for Marines to spot their Primarchs location at all times.

The Primarch or Astartes

Name: Sceafa Kentigern
Alias: The Boscawen, the Albionic, Wandering Soul, Yyntenwalda, the Wake
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: The Barbarian King
Personality: Sceafa is a person at odds with his appearance. Though he is horribly scared, he is a forthcoming and kind soul, especially to the mortals under his command. Soft-spoken, he is remarkably slow to anger but erupts violently when pressed to his limit. A lifelong artisan, he finds warfare to be an art and finds joy in its successful pursuit, encouraging others to view it as such and to push themselves fully into it.
Fault: Isolation, Sceafa prefers to seek out isolation from the busy Imperium, the visceral reactions to his face still pain him so he prefers to avoid it. He embodies the regal aspect of the Emperor, where those that meet him feel compelled to bow, even amongst Astartes of other Legions, but his reluctance to fully embody this role has him seclude himself in isolation.
Backstory: Sceafa crashed on the world of Yenti, a world shrouded in thick mists and storms, it’s lands are marshy and murky, unwelcoming to visitors who are not prepared to vanish within one of the many mires.

The people are just as mysterious, ruled by superstition and divided amongst a number of nations ruled by kings, the greatest of which is the Yyntenwalda, the Yenti-ruler. Scefea was discovered as his pod drifted slowly into a small cove, remarkably calm for that time of year, and recovered by one of the fishermen. The Yenten had forgotten their extraterrestrial roots and thought the pod was strage sort of skiff and named him after it in their language, Scēafa.

It didn’t take long for word to spread about the curious child that had been discovered, the local town of Ēsfelth believing they had been gifted a divine child to help them attain the Yyntenwalda, and it became so that the king of Ēsfelth, Thunor Kentigern, adopted the child and began to raise him as his own.

Kinghood in Yenti worked differently to the kings of other worlds. For one, the Kings of the realms were expected to be exemplars of artistry and civility, and the successors of the deceased kings were chosen by election by the Witenaġemot, essentially the court. For Sceafa, Thunor was an expert goldsmith and artisan, his chosen artistry crafts, and tutored Sceafa in them. Sceafa took quickly to this arts, in addition to his schooling in both politics and warfare, and his gene-enchanced brain saw him quickly excel and exceed all his tutors to the point that he could craft priceless brooches as easily as he could breath.

By Sceafa’s third year, he had become world renowned for his skill and intelligence, not to mention the incredible rate of his maturation, while his physical size, strength, and appearance won him many admirers, assisting him in securing allies to support his election as king. The death of Thunor hit Sceafa espsecially hard as Sceafa had fallen into an Osawiu ambush and had been captured, which had led to Thunor being exposed and killed. During his imprisonment, Sceafa faced torture from his foes, most severe of which was the burning of half his face, leaving him brutally scarred and forever marring his formerly perfect visage.

His imprisonment did not last long after that, using his superior strength he forced himself free after weakening his chains and escaping into the bogs of Osawiu. Reaching Ēsfelth, the Witenaġemot reacted with horror to what had befallen Thunor’s favoured son and nearly voted against his ascension as king, though a narrow majority still recognised his superiority and voted him king. Upon his ascension, Sceafa continued the war with the Osawiu with renewed intensity, forcing them from the field in a series of brief but brutal battles that saw the Osawiu absorbed into Sceafa’s realm.

Claiming Osawiu as his own, Sceafa made his intentions very clear; he would become the next Yytenwalda. The wars that followed next were long, hard, and brutal, only made worse by the uncooperative weather that made things increasingly dreary. The nature of Yenti’s weather necessitated serious deputising of the armies, and being used to long periods of time out of contact without each other, improvisation being a subsequent necessity.

The three long years of bloodshed that saw Sceafa crown himself as Yytenwalda had nurtured the soil, as a golden age followed him. His many years saw a renewal in land reclamation, production in almost every industry saw an unprecedented increase and the populace was as unified as it had ever been, yet Sceafa found no solace in it. Being the highest authority in the land, with no foes left to fight, bored him as each task that was presented to him became increasingly easy to solve.

The arrival of the Emperor presented him with a chance to revitalise himself. Meeting him in the same cove where Sceafa was first discovered. They spoke for many hours in isolation, the end result of it being Sceafa agreeing to join the Great Crusade and lead his Legion, the Star Wyverns. After a brief stay on Terra, he renamed the Legion the Wild Hunt, after Yentish myth, and took them to Yenti, binding them to the planet and its people in a ceremony, before departing his world to take part in the Crusade. He spent little time associating with his siblings, instead heading to the furthest edges of the Crusade to range and be on the knife’s edge of the Crusade, occasionally he shows up unannounced to aide his siblings in wars that he considers to be taking too long.

War Gear: Pridwen: Sceafa’s power armour, decorated with a series of traditional markings etched into it, while a white bear pelt lays hung over it’s shoulders, equipped with a refractor shield.
Caliburnus: His great power sword, gifted to him by his sister Titania, it’s pommel the head of a bear.
Stán: His plasma pistol he wields in his opposite hand.
Oswine: Named after a fallen foe, Oswine is the personalised jetbike adapted to suit Sceafa's enlarged frame while maintaining its high speeds.

The Wild Hunt
Preffered Numeration: XVI
Primogenitor: Sceafa
Noteworthy Domains: Yenti
Combat Doctrine: Shock mechanised assaults, with a propensity for jetbikes and vehicles, operating on the edges with self-sufficiency. They typically give their human foes one chance to join the Imperium before pursuing war with them, to which they fully commit themselves.. They thrive on the use of fast-moving transports, supported by speedy jetbikes to hit hard and harass the foe every step of the way.
Gene-Seed: The Gene-Seed of the Wild Hunt is relatively stable, it’s main flaw is the Hunters lose the ability to use the Betcher’s Gland, however it does have an effect on their personalities. Most notably is that the Hunter begins to develop a thirst for battle, in addition they begin to become obsessive in the maintenance of their vehicles and war gear.
Preferred Size: 180,000
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: Originally comprised of Albionic stock, The Wild Hunt has always served a similar role under its previous designation as the Star Wyverns, leading from the very edges of the Great Crusade, lighting beacons on each conquered world to commemorate a new successful expansion of the Imperium. For just as long, they were associated with fire and flamers, bringing their tremendous heat to their foes.
They served with distinction, attaining a record of victories that could rival almost any other region. Jubiliation ripped through the Legion when it was announced their Primarch had been found, filling an undeniable hole felt by all members of the Wyverns. Upon their reunion, the Legion was brought to Yenti and bonded to the planet and its people, both Terrans and newly recruited Yentish people. Sceafa oversaw a sweeping reform of the Legion, the old obsession with fire proved something that Sceafa couldn’t tolerate due to his facial wounds being the result of flames, amongst other things. Instead, he tempered them into something that had fascinated him when he first encountered it; the jetbike.
Taking them on a first deployment to unify them wholly, he then departed with them to the very edges of the Great Crusade, proclaiming that the truest of challenges existed beyond their sights. As such, the tales of the Legions successes began to slow down, though the Legion has grown to appreciate this, as it leaves their potential foes with less than a clear idea on how they fight. The most public times the Legion has arrived since Sceafa took charge is when they have appeared out of the depths to assist a sibling that has sent out a call for aid.

Legion Organization and Structure:
Fyrd: 10,000 Marines. There exists 18 Fyrds, the First Fyrd has the honour of having 20,000 marines due to its primacy
Althing: 1,000 Marines
Burh: 100 Marines
Banner: 10 Marines
[blocktext]Legion Command Hierarchy: Yytenwalda: Sceafa
Witan: Nine Astartes from the First Fyrd who form Sceafa’s inner circle
Thegns: Captain, Leader of an Althing
Duguth: Lieutenant, Leader of a Burh
Geoguth: Sergeant, Leader of a Banner
Gar: Battle-Brother equivalent

Specialist Formations: Gedriht: The personal bodyguard of Sceafa, never numbering more than Nine, accompany him wherever he goes. Veterans of at least a dozen campaigns and experienced in all manner of warfare. Identified by four golden chains the cross the torso and hold a golden disk at the centre of the torso, and bearskin cloaks draped on their backs.
Cunning Folk: The Librarians of the Legion. Sceafa insists that they only touch the surface of the Warp, as was taught to Yentish psykers during his youth. Identified by large staves, black helemts, and white fur cloaks.
Lind: Morale officers, responsible for the well-being of the Legion and identifying potential aspirants that could be raised to an Astartes. Identified by silver chains that wrap around their right pauldron.
The Venerables: The Chroniclers of the Legion, responsible for recording its history and the planets it has conquered, in addition to how they were defeated and whatever details may prove helpful in future. Identified by Silver chains and plates that echo that of the Gedriht.

Legion Wargear: The Wild Hunt’s wargear doesn’t differ from standard Legion’s, other than a larger stock of both bolt pistols and plasma pistols, in addition to power swords.

Legion Vehicles: The wargear of the Legion differs from the others due to the large amount of jetbike stock.
Legion Fleet: The Legion fleet stands at having 90 capital ships, 680 escort vessels, in addition to countless other vessel classes. Of note are the;
1x Gloriana-class battleship - The Wanderer
3x Retribution-class battleships - Scyld, Hlenca, and the Hrunting
8x Battle-barges - Eye of the Yytenwalda, Spearhafoc, Golden Boar, Yentish Woad, Illuminator, Cyning, Shipfyrd, and the Last Judgement
Legion Relics: [i]The Chronicle[//i]: A series of great tomes which record all the enemies the Legion has fought, how the Legion defeated them, whilst recording the notable deeds of Wild Hunters during the campaigns.

The Primarch
Name: Praessian Corro
Alias: Master of Vesta, the Lionheart, Praetorian of Terra, Hoc-et-Non
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Perfectionist
Personality: To those who think to know him, Praessian is a quiet and terse man. He rarely shares his opinion, even when asked, and if he has emotions, they are buried deep.

To those very few who have been by his side since the beginning, who have shared wounds and glories, victories and defeats, they will know the real man. A sombre character forever chasing two visions: his own, and that of his father. In private he is passionate, a man who works his stress and anger, joy and hatred, into whatever project he is engulfed by. When in the mood, he could talk for hours about any topic which takes his fancy, although as the century has passed, he has found himself in such a temper very rarely.
Fault: A man driven by a singular obsession: to create a masterpiece that will last forever. Corro sees his role as a Primarch not merely as a soldier or general, but a future leader for the Imperium. In his Vestal Realm he seeks to create a perfect system, one which could then be applied to the whole Imperium. Yet it is never enough, not nearly enough.
Backstory: The Xth pod landed upon the world of Vesta, a civilised world and leader of a small federation of planets. By coincidence the pod landed into the home of a leading aristocrat, Drusus Corro, and he was adopted as a gift from ‘the Goddess’.

The infant, named Praessian, grew extraordinarily quickly which only furthered the zeal of those around him. In only three years he had grown to a vast size, and without any need for an education had already mastered numerous advanced subjects. Feeling an intrinsic drive towards mastery, he won election to the office of Praetor Maximus and took charge of the small federation.

Through a series of reforms he transformed the small federation into a unitary realm centred upon Vesta, though not without some bloodshed from planets loath to lose their autonomy. The eponymous goddess of the planet was reduced to a symbolic representation of the planet, and the remnants of the old religion destroyed to make way for his atheistic interpretation. For ten years he reigned as Praetor Maximus, expanding the small realm into a minor stellar empire. Inside he felt a drive towards order, stability, and standardisation.

When the Imperium arrived he knew something was different about them. They possessed the great armaments, strategies, and armies he had dreamed of. Unwilling to submit, he tested them in several battles, unleashing his greatest strategies. Impressed by their response to each of his tests, he accepted an offer of negotiation. He has never revealed what words were exchanged between himself and the Emperor, but immediately afterwards he surrendered the Vestal Realm to the Imperium and was united with his Legion.

He named them the Imperial Lions, though he kept their crimson colour and adopted many of their existing Terran traditions, while seeking to merge and introduce Vestal ones as well. He created a new rank for the former Legion Master, Valentus Tibean, and established him as his second in command.

For a century he would crusade, though his pace was always somewhat slower than his brethren. Praessian saw his legion not merely as a crusading force, but an entity to be perfected for its future place in the Imperium. His sons were soldiers now, but one day they would be needed as builders, leaders, diplomats, and guardians. Under his guidance they would often remain on worlds liberated, helping to build them up. Many such worlds were soon added to his Vestal Realm.

He did not attend the Triumph at Ullanor, having already been informed by the Emperor that he was to head to Terra to aid him with many projects. Though loath to leave his realm, he felt it would be in good hands under Tibean, and was extremely curious to see what the Emperor had in store for him as his ‘Praetorian’. When he arrived at Terra he began work, but soon news reached him of the unthinkable: the Emperor was missing. He now waits at his post, hoping that the Master of the Imperium emerges from the warp unscathed, and merely a little later than planned.

War Gear: Hestia - Artificer Power Armour, personally made by Praessian

Praessian's Sword and Shield - His preferred weapons, self-made

Sacred Flame - His first weapon, a mace fueled by the Sacred Flame of Vesta, and able to discharge said flame

The Voice of Terra - A tactical bolter of Custodes design, presented to Praessian upon his appointment as Praetorian.

The Legion
Preferred Numeration: X
Primogenitor: Praessian Corro
Noteworthy Domains: See here
Combat Doctrine: The Imperial Lions pride themselves upon their discipline and ability to weather any storm. They are adept at cracking any fortification, and building their own impregnable bastions. Any approach is best taken cautiously and slowly, so one can gather all the intelligence they need and make the most informed situation, and implement a well-developed plan.

This approach is often criticised by other legions, from a variety of angles. Some lament how close-minded the officers of the Lions are, that they lack initiative and always seem eager to demure to a higher authority no matter how incorrect their superiors might be. Others see their progress as agonisingly slow, often missing crucial windows of vulnerability in their enemies.

Praessian denies this, for in his eyes his legion is perfect. It is the standard model on which all legions should be based. Though he is not blind to all criticism, he believes that the ‘variant’ legions exist only for a singular purpose and will be redundant at the end of the crusade, while his will live on and be eternally useful.

Gene-Seed: The Imperial Lions’ gene-seed is seen as highly stable and regular, potentially the purest of all the gene-seed stocks.
Preferred Size: 185,000
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: The Xth Legion was originally known as the 'Crimson Hands', known for a predilection to paint their right arms crimson as a reminder that they were the bloody hand of the Emperor, charged with executing his desires no matter the cost. They came largely from Old Albian stock. They were known for being a hardy legion, able to break any line or wall through sheer determination no matter the cost to themselves.

For a century they fought under several Legion Masters, always eagerly awaiting the day they would be reunited with their Primarch. Then came the fateful day when they were informed that their Primarch had been found, far in the frontier on a world named Vesta. The Legion Master, Valentus Tibean, moved at haste with some forces to introduce their Primarch to the legion.

Their meeting was a cordial one. Praessian introduced Tibean to Vesta, and Tibean told him of a century of glory and mistakes, holding back no detail, no matter how embarrassing for himself and his successors. Impressed with his forthcomingness Praessian created Tibean his second in command, Lord Commander of the Legion, and bid that he was to be treated with the same courtesy and rank he had enjoyed as Legion Master.

It was not an easy process, integrating the largely Terran legion with a new influx of Vestal traditions and recruits, but with Praessian and Tibean joined in cause it was a relatively smooth and calm period. Praessian renamed the legion the Imperial Lions, though he honoured their traditions by keeping and expanding their crimson colour. By the time of Ullanor all memory of this shaky period had vanished, with there remaining few distinction between Terran and Vestal marines, the former of which have largely come to see the Vestal Realm as a new and valiant home worth protecting.

Legion Organization and Structure:
Legion Command Hierarchy: Praessian Coro, The Lord Primarch, Legion-Master of the Xth, Lord of Vesta, and Master of the Vestal Realms
Lord Commander, the rank of the former Legion Master, Valentus Tibean, the commander of the Imperial Lions Legion before Praessian
Tribunes - Twelve Astartes chosen to be the Primarch’s inner circle, as well as help govern sectors or oversee campaigns.
Proconsul - Any Astartes of rank Captain or above may be given this rank, which signifies governorship of a Vestal World.
Legate - Commander of a Battlegroup, comprising an unset number of Cohorts at the discretion of the Senate
Cohort Master - The Commander of a Cohort, consisting of 10,000 Marines and a flexible amount of auxilia.
Princeps - A temporary rank, one appointed by the Cohort Master to group together several companies under a single Captain.
Captain - The Commander of a Company, the standard consisting of 1,000 Marines
Primus Pilus - The seniormost Captain of a Cohort
Line-Captain - The standard Captain rank
Battle-Captain - The juniormost Captain of a Cohort
Sergeant
Legionary

Specialist Formations: Senate - The Senate comprises the Cohort Masters, Legates, Tribunes, Lord Commander, and any other Astartes at the Primarch’s discretion. This body exists to aid the Primarch in governing the legion.
Centuriate Assembly - Comprising all the Captains of the Legion, it is intended to be a body to represent the will and needs of the legionaries, to advise the Primarch on what they feel may be best for the Legion.
Scholae - The original bodyguard to the Primarch, they have largely been superseded by the Palatines and now act as an elite unit often on campaign. They are commanded by Sempronius Densus.
Palatines - Six modified Domitar vermiculo [ferrum] pattern Domitar-class Battle-Automata, four modified Domitar vermiculo pattern Domitar-class Battle-Automata, and two Thallax suits modified into automata, serving as bodyguard to the Primarch.

Legion Wargear:
Quite a few Terminator variations, largely based upon the Mk.1 model which the Imperial Lions have large amounts of.

Legion Vehicles: The Imperial Lions largely use standard vehicles. They are known however for their usage of battle-automata, supervised by a large techmarine corp.
Legion Fleet: 200 Capital Class Ships, 500 Light Class Ships
Legion Relics: TBD later

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Lucretian Karath
Alias: The King of Midnight
Appearance: (Please put image in spoilers)
Archetype: The Sinner/Sin-Eater.
Personality: Brooding, moralistic, severe, pragmatic.
Fault: Honor/Dishonor and Emperor-Idolization complex? Unsure how to put this succinctly.
Backstory:
He does not remember the beginning, genetor-pod screaming for through ash-black clouds, crashing amidst the luxurious hall of the Gentle Lord. He does not recall the sack-cloth hood and burning rods that came after, nor the dispassionate cruelties of chirurgeons as they cut and investigated his unnatural flesh. The kiss of whips, of barbs, of silken threats and whispered manipulations. Of the first death.

This is time is blackness, with only pain to remind him it ever existed at all.

What comes after is… hazily recalled. Visions of atrocity, fractured recollections of sin and lies. Of craven oaths and the weight of a cursed dagger, in-laid with bleeding pearls. The crack of the lash, of boiling oil and searing plasma. Of wrongness upon wrongness with little more than it’s own propagation as a goal. Of feeding a hunger that ripped and teared and gnawed, a hollow, dark pit that would not and could not be satisfied.

And now the glass breaks. Bones flayed from flesh with the screaming words of a maddened demigod, balefire encroaching to consume the dagger-smiles of the Gentle Lord, whose flesh grew purple and red as a black symbol weighted upon his brow. And the symbol, by the Emperor the symbol. He cannot recall it, cannot place it as it is smashed out of his very mind; Only the dregs of golden blood, and the far-off cries of an enraged eagle are there to remind him of its presence.

The fragments end and there is a void. This is another time he does not recall. There are many, but this time in particular is *excised*, as if a tumor was cut free by a skillful surgeon. Only the comforting coldness of the Light is what retains this time at all. He stumbles in this darkness, blindly fighting squalid horrors until HE appears.

Father. Master. Emperor

There is salvation, but the price has already been paid. In blood, in ash, in mind. It is great work to fix an Angel, but who better than his own creator?

The blankness ends. He recalls awakening in a silken bed, surrounded by warriors in gleaming gold, heralding the Light in all its glory. The Light reflected from them, burning into milky eyes and he smiled amidst the pain. He would not smile again, when he learned why he had been saved. But he had a purpose now. A reason for the Hunger.

He meets his sons, and finds them… irresponsible. They take pride in themselves, in their work and in their crimes. They view it as a clinician, as something to be done with no effect on themselves, upon the Imperium. He teaches them of the Light, and how they must serve it without ever meeting it’s gaze. He teaches them the Black Art, to lie and distort, to cut and bleed in places so vital as to be seen as untouchable. Soon they understand his lessons, and HE bids the now-christened Host to act.

Already a whispered secret, they become even less so; Spectres in the night, a filthy rumor of crimson-eyed hunters. They seek and root out HIS foes and do HIS work, skulking in the dark so that other Legions may shine in the Light. They have no honor and so act with none; Only through the Emperor do their foul acts have worth.

Long is the way and hard, that out of hell leads to Light.
War Gear:
The Weeping Dagger: A stylized power-dagger of archaic origin, being the only item Lucretian had in his possession following his salvation.

Hateful Light: A plasma pistol, gifted to Lucretian by the Emperor himself.

The Midnight Host
Preferred Numeration: XXth
Primogenitor: Lucretian Karath
Noteworthy Domains: The Midnight Host is based out of the shattered remnants of Virivia (Wiped from standard stellar cartography). It draws recruits from various underhives, scholams and penal facilities.
Observed Strategic Tendencies: Asymmetric Warfare, Infiltration and Sabotage, Psychological Warfare, Combined Arms Warfare
Gene-Seed:
STABILITY: Moderate. Cosmetic mutations do develop with some regularity, such as the occulobe or pale skin.
MUTATIONS:
Occulobe: Disruptions in the development of the Occulobe render all Astartes of the Host with milky, ‘blind’ eyes; Visual acuity remains, though with an increased sensitivity to bright light.
QUIRKS: Marines of the Host adopt the same moralistic/honorless mindset and attitude of their gene-father.

General personalities and psychological profiles change as well; Paranoia, reduced emotional effect and extremely removed views of non-Host humans, apart from the Emperor and Lucretian himself. Further, some scant reports tell of psychological compulsion toward violent and heinous acts in legionaries of the Host. These rumors remain entirely unsubstantiated; The truth would only be known if the Host themselves brought it to light.
Preferred Size: 80,000.
Appearance: Will input Krugs picture here.
Origins and History: In the fires of the Unification Wars, the Emperor needed many tools, tools which he crafted for exacting purpose; Knights, Siege-Masters, Butchers, Scouts. These and others were forged, exulted even, celebrated and feared. But there were things the Emperor needed silence for, secrecy.

And so the Ghosts were born. Unrecorded and unspoken of, a cold dagger which struck in the night against foes the Emperor viewed as better unnamed. They undertook secretive missions; Abductions, disappearances, the collection of vital artefacts. They committed silent atrocity and unspoken strikes; They viewed themselves as better, as superior to others given their special, hidden status. They reveled in their crimes, their misdeeds and cruelties. They were monsters which viewed themselves as holy.

The finding of their gene-father changed that. They learned of their true purpose, of the weight and meaning of their acts. They were not without sin; They undertook the burden of its shame, so that none other would be sullied with it. They learned to save their Hunger for those deserving, and learned to hide themselves from the Light further still.

As they are now, the Host is like shadowed serpent. Cells exist across the Imperium, corresponding with agents placed within the Imperial bureaucracy to ensure a full view of those within the Imperium, and to assist in their operations. They are an insular, cold sort; Of those campaigns not stricken from record, they are seen as black-plated spectres, the heralds of HIS terrible wrath.

They will undertake whatever methods and manners are necessary to achieve victory. To serve HIM, to uplift the Light until it covers all corners of the Galaxy.
Legion Organization and Structure:
In part with their purpose, the Host is cell-structured, utilizing a complex system of ciphers, code-languages and other methods to ensure secrecy and informational security.

The Midnight Host: Entirety of the Legion
The Black Lodge/Lords of the Host: High Command mixed with a Librarium, essentially.
Fell Mace: 10,000 strong division, of which there are eight. Each led by a Lord of the Host.
House**: Company-equivalent. Led by a Blacktongue.
Hand: Cell/Squad Equivalent.
**Houses vary heavily in name, such as The House of Blades or the House of Lies.
Legion Command Hierarchy:
Lucretian (Midnight King)
Black Lodge/Lords of the Host
Blacktongues
Legionaries
Specialist Formations:
The Lightless: All marines receive [i]extensive[/] training in infiltration/stealth obviously, but this is the sole focus of these legionaries.
The Bondage of Spirit: Psykers, focused on mental fuckery and the cheapest, most dirty tricks possible.
The Drowning of the Condemned: Devastation-focused terminators.
The Dead: When a legionary of the Host fails so immensely as to warrant execution, he is ritually struck from all internal record. He is stripped of title, of name and of rank. He then undergoes psychological and physical ‘enlightenment’ by Lucretian himself, spending a period of several weeks or months being mentally molded. Once this molding is complete, the legionary is then heavily modified with combat-chems and augmetics. What emerges is little more than a vicious monster, kept in crypt-stasis until needed; There are few sights like a handful of howling gene-monsters being deepstriked into a population center.

Legion Wargear:
UNIQUE: Early Development Banestrike Rounds, Power-Daggers, Standardized usage of Cameleoline cloaks, refractor field usage as realistic, ‘Silent Kiss’ Bolt-rifles (Snipers), Plasma-Lashes.
GENERAL: A focus on anti-personnel and sneaky/cheaty boy weaponry with some reserves of heavier weaponry if they’ve fucked up enough to require it.
Legion Vehicles: Standard composition.
Legion Fleet: I’m hoping for something larger, but primarily focused around stealth frigates and strike cruisers; The heavy ships of the Legion, such as Lucretians Gloriana, are of a much smaller number.
Legion Relics:
The Vaults of Sin: Over the course of their long centuries of shadowed service, the Host has come across many abominations, artifacts and technologies. The Emperor has entrusted some to their care, and many others have been directly appropriated by the Host.

[spoiler=Examples of the Vaults of Sin]
-Scrap-Code
-Xeno Specimens (Ak’Haireth Bloom, Arachnids of Murder, etc.
-Bio-chemical weapon samples.
-Captives/prisoners.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Clausewitz Parcarian
Alias(es) and Titles: The Warrior Monk, The Emperor's Scholar, the Mad Scientist.
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Mad scientist / technophile
Personality: Quiet, contemplative, quizzical and calculating are words that would describe him from a distance. When among friends or in lax around his sons, he is Jovial, even a bit boisterous if the mood strikes him, but rarely ever cruel or needlessly hostile. He is fiercely protective of those he values, how ever and their are whispers of some of the less then honorable deeds he partook in during the Resistance of Aureliaus.
Fault: Love. Clausewitz feels a genuine, Human love for his Astartes and his sibling Primarchs. This is a rather obvious tool for those working against him.
Backstory:

Like his siblings, Clause was plucked by the powers most Ruinous and thrown in to the warp, cast out among the inky dark abyss of space were he eventually landed on a far flung world known as "Aurelius" in a system bearing the ancient title "Pythios".
In the times of old Pythios and the world of Aurelia were known as a verdant paradise system, an entire star system full of gaia worlds rich for the exploitation by the rich and wealthy of the Dark Age of Technology and the old Human Confederation. Clause was found by a couple of village elders, far to old to bear their own children, who took him in and raised him as their own in the deeper sections of the Dark forests of Aurelia. The entire planet was a largely alpine/mountainous world, but with a sprawling lowland area around the equator home to a dark forest spanning its entire circumference.

Having grown up in a rather feudal world, Clause took to the arts of black smiting and forgery at a young age and, due to his post human nature, quickly grew to his full size, achieving his towering 13 feet around his 14th Birthday. Around the same time the resident over lords of the World would reach his rural village: The Dhrukari Warband under the Control of one Muriana The Red, a noted wytch and exiled denizens of Commaragh. What she did to be exiled from the Black City, no one knows.

The Rumors of a 13 foot tall man-giant falling from the sky drew her attention and she originally intended to seduce the young primarch to the dark, carnal Dhrukari way of thinking. This did not work. The resulting backlash saw most of his tribe hunted, flayed, and killed. Clause's adoptive parents were skinned alive, their nerve endings coated in salt, and thrown down a rocky shale slope as he watched from on from a hidden perch in the trees.

Clause would begin to wage a personal shadow war against the Dhrukari slavers for the next century, eventually cultivating his own little cult of personality as more and more of the former human slaves would choose to flee in to the deeper, darker portions of the forest in search of the man. On a world lacking advanced technology to such an extent even the Dhrukari resulted to use mostly melee weapons, combat against the eldari by regular humans often met with horrible costs, yet the Primarch found him self easily keeping up with even the best they sent after him, this being his first clue he was something different beyond just his abnormal height. None the less, his growing knowledge of forestry, fieldcraft, guerrilla warfare and black smiting formed a potent combination allowing him to act as his own roving death squad.

He became very skilled in engaging them, even learning their language over time and employing bits and pieces of their culture and mythos to employ his own brand of terror tactics. Eventually, after having succeeded in venturing in to the taboo ruins of Coronet city and retrieving some high quality metal stock he was approached by a strange man. One taller them him self.

Clause took him to be something different, and so he offered the man debate. They were said to have spoken for hours in an endless stream of ideas and thoughts, sharing theorems and formulas on topics and subjects clause really only had mild speculation to go off on. After nearly 3 days of talking, the man introduced him self as Clause's real father, the Emperor of Mandkind. He also revealed he had been shadowing Clause for some time, observing his shadow war and his aiding of his people.

Clause was offered his rightful place as Primarch of the 12th legio and even met the current leader, the famed Macharious Oldwaine. Choosing to use the chance to finally see his long term goal, Clause took partial command of his legio and used his Gene-sons, along side a now sizeable army of liberated slaves, and road for the heart of the Dhrukari territory deep in the mountains.

They faced many enemies and horrors, and the two men grew to respect each other as they drew near to their prize: The Wytch's Black Keep, constructed from the remains of her old starship. With support from specialist elements of the Sun angles legio, Clause and Oldwaine led the assault on the keep, storming it in a haelstorm of blades and bolter fire, slaughtering the Dark Eldar to the men and eventually felling the wytch her self, at the cost of Oldwaine's health and Clause's old knife.

None the less, with victorious liberation at hand, Clause set out improving his people's way of life, moving them in to the Ruined city, working with the mechanicus and his own Techmarines to get the economy going and even over seeing the refitting of his flagship from orbit as it sat in a mobile anchorage. It had been nearly a decade before the 12th Legion burst forth from the Pythios system, leading their own small crusade in scouting the old stars around them when The triumph at ullanor was called.

Now he and his legion find them selves stuck between two power plays and their players, and only fate can tell which side he'll pick.

War Gear:

Archlight -
A strange, hallowed weapon from a more civilized age, the weapon known as "Archlight" is a piece of notorious archeotech recovered from the ruins of a Dark Age museum. The weapon was gifted to the nascent primarch by the emperor in a non functioning form, being in pieces and caked in dirt, rust, and grime. Over the years of the Crusade the primarch has restored it to working condition and it has proved it self a supremely lethal implement in the right hands.

Free of any markings, sans a single inscription said to have originally been hand scratched in to the weapons ancient barrel, now boldly filled in and properly etched in with gold. The line of text reads... "Sic Temper Tyranius."

To be clearer in its operation, its a linear mass driver rifle firing any sufficiently magnetic projectile down its barrel that can fit. Clause prefers 11 inch sub caliber tungsten rods.

The First Curse
An ornate master crafted example of a plasma pistol. Clause has tuned the weapon it self, giving it an increased cooling capacity and projectile velocity, as well as its distinctive green glow.

The Last Word.
A rather distinctive blade, this fighting knife fits a primarch scaled stiletto blade and pointed "Skull Crusher" pommel. Originally forged of simple high grade steel, its battle against the Dhrukari Wytch Muriana The Red saw it shattered, though this did not stop it from being the weapon that killed the Xenos leader.

With the materials at hand from the Imperium, Clause re-forged the blade to a monomolecular edge using a alloyed metal of his own design. Clause has been noted to be extremely skilled in his preferred style of close in combat, fighting with a distinctly practiced grace more commonly found among the more infamous Eldari Blade masters. An effect of his up bringing fighting the Xeno race was quiet openly copying facets of their fighting styles and modifying them to his tastes.

Gilded Robes

His personal set of powered armor, Clause's leaner frame and more agile form of movement means the suit is noticeably more lean and form fitting, though this is normally covered up with his own set of billowing monks robes that often hide were he holsters his pistol and knife.

Zenobia's Lament.
A gift from his legion's cabal of techmarines, the vehicle in question is a one off, upscaled model of the venerable Sicaran main battle tank fitted to act as a personal command tank for the primarch. Originally omitting a turreted weapon, Clause saw the installation of his own personal macro scale model of an arcehotech accelerator cannon, essentially a macro scale version of his personnel rifle. Seated in the Gunner's chair, Clause is capable of both commanding his legion on the ground and manning the ancient yet mighty weapon system in combat. Besides its main weapon system that brings no end of the Mechanicus's ire, the Zenobia also fits vastly increased armor, a unique power plant featuring two plasma reactor cores working together and even a single voidshield generator for use in combat, though this has been known to interfere with the performance of the main gun, meaning Clause often deactivates the shield when he fires. Its secondary weapons includes a pair of side sponson mounted Godhammer lass cannons and a hull mounted heavy Bolter for use with its enlarged hull.

The Legion
Preferred Numeration: XII
Primogenitor: Clausewitz Parcarian
Noteworthy Domains: The Pythos system, home to Aurelius, Clause's home world and the home world of his Legion.
Combat Doctrine: Maneuver warfare, kill team tactics and Reasonability.
Gene-Seed: Fairly stable
Preferred Size: 175,000
Appearance: A matte Garnet with a Gold Trim, and the Sigle of the Burning Scrolls on the left pauldron.
Origins and History: The 12th Legio Astartes has a checkered past. Their primarch not having been found for so long in to the crusade, the Legion found it self marching under the leadership of its eldest, Macharious Oldwain, the most renown of its men.

Being with out a gene-father for so long led to them cultivating their own fighting style under the storied Oldwaine, one of efficiency and resource management as their favor with the mechanicus, while some times icy, was stable. Under Macharious they garnered a reputation of a "Cursed" or "Bad luck ridden" legion, being with out their Gene-father for so long. While this does not mean they are often refused aid, this does mean that most are reluctant to expend more valued assets in their aid.

Seeing this as a problem, Oldwaine made the point to self improve the legion and cultivate a culture of efficiency in all forms, reducing equipment and material losses as much as possible and often eschewing the more barbarous tactics of sister legions.

They do how ever operate a rather large arsenal of Energy weaponry, primarily plasma and Volkite weapons at both the Squad and platoon level, as well as a few more choice sets of armor and accessories. The 12th did see extensive combat at Ullanor, with Oldwaine being injured gravely and being confined to the Legio's sole suit of Siege Dreadnought armor.

With their Primarch having been discovered shortly before the conclusion of the Ullanor campaign and spending most of the last few months retrofitting the Arethusa's Wrath and partially editing the Legions doctrine with over sight from the now dreadnught bound Oldwaine, they were not often sighted as having done much of note.

None the less, the Legion has taken surprisingly well to their new primarch, even embracing some of his more compassionate practices towards Imperial Civilians and Army officers.
Legion Organization and Structure:
135,000 Astartes of the Burning Scrolls are divided in to 14 Companies, with the 3rd through 14th Companies being issued the standard .65 bolter and fighting knife set. The 2nd Company is comprised primarily of the Legion's Second best, and includes the command staff of several smaller specialist units and support staff for larger operations. The 1st Company is host to Clausewitz's personal guard, The personal Assault team of Oldwaine, with his Dreadnought leading a team of Veteran Cataphracti terminators, and several smaller sub units of Veteran kill teams and specialists. From the 14th company upwards to the 3rd, one will see an increased use of energy weapons, first lass cannons and then plasma weapons and finally Volkite weaponry.

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Legion CO: Clausewitz Parcarian
2IC: Macharious Oldwaine - Siege Dreadnought
Specialist Formations:
Oldwain's Raiders - A specialist assault element consisting of him self and 15 of the Legions most senior and storied brothers clad in Catapracti terminator armor

Legion Wargear Variations (if any):
Proteus Alpha pattern Plasma weaponry
A broad term for a set up incremental upgrades rather then a distinctly new model, 12th legion Proteus plasma weapons sport a 13% better cooling coefficient and a tailored gas mix giving them a distinctly green glow.

Tigris-Proteus Beta Pattern Bolter
Essentially a Tigris pattern boltgun retooled by the Burning scrolls to accept the larger .65 bolt shell, sanctioned by the mechanicus after stringent testing.

Legion Vehicle Variations (if any):
WIP
Legion Fleet:
Arethusa's Wrath - Gloriana Class Battleship, refitted with expanded command and control facilities, energy production facilities, and an extensive battery of Godsbane Heavy lance turrets.

Ernest King - Exorcist Class Grand Cruiser
Another recent addition, the Ernest King sees a further portion of its weapon batteries replaced with launch facilities and support areas for them, making it an ad-hoc fleet carrier along side the Wrath and the Legion's two battle barges.

Binding of Issac - Battlebarge
An old and hallowed ship by the time of the Crusade, just who this Issac was and why he was bound has been lost to time.

Ozymandias - Battlebarge
A newer ship, recently launched and put in to service.

x4 Olympia class strike cruisers
Requisitioned from the Imperial army, these three ships have been refitted and re-staffed by Legionary support staff, each hosting a Company of Marines and their support personal.

Mother of Invention Promthean Class heavy cruiser.
A ship as old and hallowed as the Issac and even the Wrath, the Mother of Invention was an early introduction to the fleet, and one of its heavier assets.

x6 Gladius Class light cruisers
x12 Sword Class Frigates
x2 Tiamat Cass Destroyers - The Subtle Dagger and Gilgamesh respectively act as formation leaders for the Legions Frigates and escorts.
x18 Claymore class corvettes.

Armada Imperialus Detachment pending...

Legion Relics:

The 12th Standard.
A long shaft of elder Redwood topped with the Eagle and Thunderbolt sigil of the Thunder warriors, this standard was recovered from the top of mount Ararat, and is said to be the battle standard of the 12th Legiones Cataegis.

The Dark Blade
A black wytch blade belonging to the Matron of the Dhrukari band that ruled over Aurelius, said Wytch was slain in combat against the Nascent primarch and then leader of the 12th Legio, Macharious Oldwaine. It has been marred and desecrated with imperial Sigils, Mechanicus markings, and Burning Scrolls insignia.

The Sword of Pelin-El
Said to be the personal blade of a Craft World Pheonix lord of long since passed times, this ancient blade was found among the personal hoard of the Dhrukari Matron ruling over Aurelius.

Reason and Persuasion
The Power sword and Storm Bolter of Macharious Oldwain, stored after his entombment in a Siege Dreadnought.

Miscellaneous Info:

Calbernia

Calbernia is a frontier world bordering the Ghoul Stars and was discovered by an expeditionary fleet of the xx Legion pushing into the Ghoul Stars as part of the Great Crusade. A lost world of man, it was covered in fortified cities, extensive trench lines, dark forest and dank swamplands. The natives were living under a siege mentality thanks to the almost supernatural threats of the Ghoul Stars, but they readily accepted Imperial rule for greater protection.

Today Calbernia is classified as a Fortress World, a bastion of Imperial defence against the horrors that lurk in the Ghoul Stars. Despite the bolstering of the planet's defences by the Imperium, the native Calbernians have never quite shaken off their sense of siege mentality that had been ingrained into them over generations. Many still bolt their doors at night against the things that lurk in the darkness.

The planet's de facto governor is a monarch in the form of Queen Lothwyn XIV who rules from the planetary capital of Morrdun, though the Queen is little more than a figurehead with the actual governing of the planet done by the parliamentary body known as the Calbernian Assembly. The Assembly is split into two houses; the upper being known as the Court of Ravens filled by the representatives of the various Clans dubbed Raveners whilst the lower house is called the Chamber of Commons with it's members being directly elected.

The Darkwatch

Effectively Calbernia's standing military, the Darkwatch has defended the planet against the 'dark of night' for countless centuries against the numerous foes that reside in the region. Normally the Darkwatch is geared towards siege/trench warfare, focusing heavily on the determined defence of key positions. However, it is still capable of offensive operations and has even mounted expeditions to other systems in the sub-sector.

Gas warfare features heavily in the Darkwatch's arsenal, it's use justified time and again thus leading to gas masks being issued as standard for every soldier. The Calbernians are also known for their distinctive trenchcoats and soup bowl helmets, making them stand out a little compared to other Imperial Army units. Though the Calbernians are also known for their gallows humour.

Special Equipment

Cyber-Mastiffs:- Many of the Xenos in the Ghoul Stars are known to be able to change shapes and can even assume a form of a Human, these shapeshifters are thus able to sow discord whilst wearing a false face. There have been a number of incidents involving Xenos shapeshifters over the centuries that means of detecting them were sought, thus the Morrdh 'Sniffer' Cyber-Mastiff was born. Sniffers are optimized for scent-based roles like the Subrique "Bloodhound", though the Morrdh Cyber-Mastiffs are geared more towards identification rather than tracking. The cogitators of the Sniffers contain a memory bank of sensorium data which allow the beasts to analyse airborne particles to identify whether or not a person is actually Human rather than a Xenos.

Platoon Sergeants in each of the platoon command squads are designated as handlers and paired up with a Cyber-Mastiff, if anything to keep an out on their own platoons for Xenos shapeshifters in addition to combat support. Battalion HQ contains a section of handlers that is ten men strong under the direct command of a 'Hound Master' (typically a warrant officer) who answers to both the battalion's commanding officer and its commissar. The handlers of the Cyber-Mastiff Section function as regimental provosts and are normally responsible for the maintenance of good order and military discipline.

Bagpipes:- A musical instrument consisting of a small clutch of spidery reeds attached to a bellows bag, also known as Calbernian Pipes. Producing a wailing noise when played, the Pipes are found to be effective against various inhabitants of the Ghoul Stars in addition to boosting the morale of Calbernian troops. A piper is usually present in every command squad at the company level and above.

Notable Character Backstory: A lifelong career soldier, Éamonn Maguire first entered military service as an officer cadet aged 20 standard years old. A scion of Clan Maguire, Éamonn was enrolled into Calbernia's Carrog Military College by his family. After being commissioned as an officer, Maguire saw out an early and unremarkable service on his native homeworld before the 5th Brigade was raised for Imperial Service. The decades that followed saw Maguire face threats both human and xenos in combat, gradually building up his experience and a reputation as a stubborn commander. He also steadily rose up through the ranks, commanding larger and larger units with each promotion before attaining the lofty rank of Brigadier and command over the 5th Brigade.

Combat History: The 5th Brigade has seen frequent combat over the last half a century, typically employed in long drawn-out conflicts where there was scant Astartes present. Most recent campaign for the 5th Brigade was to the planet New Mitama in the Ullanor Sector to pin down Ork forces during the Ullanor Crusade, though they have remained following the Great Triumph to eradicate the surviving greenskins.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Vasilisa Sanguina
Alias(es) and Titles: The Golden Queen, The Sanguine Duchess, The Crimson Countess
Appearance:
Image

Image

Archetype: Justice
Personality: Vasilisa is a Primarch of two sides. Externally, she puts up a front of calm authority. Internally, she is far more pessimistic of her siblings abilities and views them more as a gaggle of privileged children given power they are unable to maturely control.
Fault: Her genome is stable but prone to what is known as the 'Methuselah's Kiss.' The desire to drink blood.
Backstory: The Primarch that would become known as Vasilisa was scattered, like her brethren, about the Galaxy before the Emperor of Mankind could launch his epic Great Crusade. When the Ruinous Powers whisked the Primarchs away from the Emperor's underground gene laboratories hidden beneath the landmass of the Himalazian Mountains. Vasilisa, carried by the waves of the Empyrean, landed on the world of Solaria. To the Galactic North-East of Terra. Near the juncture of what would become Segmentum Solar, Obscurus, and Ultima.

A beautifully dangerous world inhabited by the remnants of a space faring civilization from Humanity's dark age. The Solarians retaining the technology for space flight but primarily confined to their mountain cities. Having abandoned various locations and having lost the ability to resettle them in any meaningful way. This is largely due to the cities of Solaria being from the Dark Age of Technology and the technologies therein suffering catastrophic damage by the ravages of Old Night and time itself. The Solarians were a remnant until the coming of their Golden Queen. A name that is not literal so much as figurative. For under Vasilisa's guidance she reinvigorated the people of Solaria. Re-establishing trade with neighboring worlds, even annexing many, while promoting the arts and sciences on Solaria itself.

It was on Solaria she also fullfilled a local myth. Through her taming of the one of the wild Heliac Dragons. The four limbed, winged, beasts could grow to such impressive size as to dwarf the imposing figure of a Primarch. It was on Solaria that she tamed one of the semi-sentient beasts. Naming the great Dragon Baelebog or "White God" after an ancient Terran deity. And through its impressive flame, capable of melting stone and adamantium, the Golden Queen ruled over a truly golden era.

Eventually, the Emperor's expeditionary fleets arrived in the Solarian system, following rumor's by their neighbors of an expanding power. They were surprised to find one of the Emperor's lost progeny at the helm. This surprise of course was not shared by the Emperor as he rushed to Solaria to reclaim his genetic offspring. Meeting in the Adamantine Palace on Solaria, behind closed doors, none quite knew what transpired between Father and Daughter. Only that when they emerged the Golden Queen took command of the 5th Legion and declared that Solaria was one with the Imperium of Mankind. That they had been reunited with their long lost homeworld of Terra and a golden age was coming. Of course, nothing can be gleaned as to the meeting between Father and Daughter that transpired. Speaking to each other in the mutual understanding of old acquittances rather than truly sundered.

However, all of this belies the darker side of this Primarch and her Legion's origins. The Emperor of Mankind had spliced his own genes into each of the Primarchs. Each a facet of Mankind and that of the Emperor, who was pinnacle of each of these aspects. In Vasilisa was the fearless drive to expel darkness and superstition. To combat that which stalked mankind from the shadows. The Mutant, the Witch, and Horrors from the Empyrean itself! Vasilisa was gifted with the facet of the Anathema. The power to expel the Warp and its entities. To combat them and walk through their sorcerous magic unscathed. But this comes with a price like many things. Vasilisa's unnatural beauty and grace is matched by elongated fangs, mirrored in that of her legionnaires, and eyes which will glow blood red with an aura of oblivion should she unleash her Pariah powers. This is matched by a small number of her Legionnaires who, in addition to sporting the odd psyker found in all Legions, uniquely had this gift as well when implanted with her gene-seed. Albeit to a weaker degree and with less control.
War Gear:

The Aetherial Crown
A silver crown possessing a a strong refractor shield and cloaking generator.

The Sword of Dracul

A sword harkening to ancient rulers of Old Earth. A shimmering blood red blade seemingly stricken by electrical patterns in pulsating gold and silver that operates like a power weapon. Except, it is wreathed in the negative psi-energies of its master. Sporting a blacker than black flame that inverts the light around it in a spectacularly unnatural display. The blade has managed to cut through ceramite and even tank armour with relative ease in the hands of the Primarch. Its hilt bears an interesting gothic filigree of electrum.

The Scarlet Glaive

A glaive possessing a scarlet blade and crimson handle. Emitting a purple flame when wielded and rumored to be a psychic weapon harnessing the mind of its wielder.

Wings of Mars

Wings using archeotech technology to propel the user aloft. The wings themselves are an enigma to even the Mechanicum who note the unusual, regenerative, properties of the metal making up the wings. Unearthed deep under Mars. Gifted to the Primarch by the Emperor after their first meeting the Wings are able to bond to Vasilisa's body or shrink and expand as needed. Capable of manifesting as a pair of wings or a set of six seraphim wings when fully grown and manifested.

The Legion
Preferred Numeration: 5
Primogenitor: Vasilisa Sanguina
Noteworthy Domains: The Valtmar Hegemony.
Combat Doctrine: The Legion operates under a combined arms strategy of adjusting tactics to the demands of the battlefield and their set mission.
Gene-Seed: Stable but manifestation of fangs and the Methuselah's Kiss are common.
Preferred Size: 200k (190k Sun Angels, 10k Draculeans).

The Legion's unique Psi-negative Marines

Origins and History: The 5th Legion's history begins on Terra. One of the original twenty space marine legions created by the Emperor of Mankind in his goal of conquering the galaxy. Reclaiming and liberating the worlds of mankind while pushing back the curtain of Old Night. To spread the flame of a nascent Imperium and rekindle the civilization of humanity across the stars. The 5th Legion originally was simply known as the Blood Lords and recruited from the Carpathian Hive Cities of Old Europa. The 5th Legion's earliest actions include the pacification of Luna and the wars in the outer reaches of the Sol System.

When the Great Crusade finally erupted out of the Sol System the 5th Legion, like the other Legions, led the massive Human offensive into the cosmos. Fighting alongside the other Legions in numerous campaigns until reuniting with their Primarch, the third to be rediscovered, on the world of Solaria. Located to the Galactic West of Terra.

The 5th Legion Primarch was discovered on the world of Solaria, Segmentum Solar, to the Galactic west of Terra. A world of beauty and terror. Wracked by fierce electrical storms and punishing seasons. The equatorial zones frequently sporting sweltering hot days before plummeting to below freezing at night during the Season of Flames. The human colonists however, for the most part, managed to survive in the remaining intact Dark Age of Technology cities. Maintaining and even replicating some of its technology. However, no functional STC or complete blueprint encyclopedia survived the calamity and chaos of Old Night.
The Solarians were space faring when the 25th Expeditionary Fleet arrived in the system. The two polities almost coming to blows until realization that the Golden Queen was none other than a Primarch. The Emperor wasting no time in making for Solaria. Arriving with all due haste to reclaim his long lost progeny. Becoming the first Primarch rediscovered by the Emperor in the early years of his Great Crusade.
What transpired between the Emperor and the Golden Queen could only be guessed. But after five days they emerged from the Adamantine Palace on Solaria with Vasilisa taking up the mantle of Primarch of the 5th Legion. The Legion arriving on Solaria in the following months to meet their new Master and take in fresh recruits from Solarian stock. Her XX chromosomal make up providing a stable gene seed to swell the Legions ranks. Further, it became apparent that a growing number of Solarian recruits sported Pariah and Psyker genes. Forming two cadres to mold these emerging specializations. The Legion's name was also changed to that of the Sun Angels. In reference to ancient Solarian myth.

The 5th Legion since then has fought numerous campaigns from the Rangdan Xenocides to the purging of the Greenskin empire of Zaradar to name a few. Fighting alongside the Steel Men and Heirophants in dozens of wars and battles in the name of the Emperor.

Then there is the darker history of the Legion. Its origins are laced with fabrication. For the 5th Legion was originally known as The Vapir Host. Originally recruited from Eastern European Terran populations and mutants, who would be turned into beautiful specimens of post-human grace upon successful implantation of the Legion's gene-seed mother's DNA. But their hallmarks remained. Beautiful fair to light olive flesh, fangs, and eyes that shifted with their emotions. Able to move swiftly in shadow with predatory stealth. The hunters of mutants, psyker-witches, and other horrors that the Emperor specifically tasked for them. A dark history best left unsaid to the masses of the Imperium. Thus, they became the Sun Angels and rebranded in a more glorious image.
Legion Organization and Structure:

The Legion under the Primarch is put under the command of various Voivodes. Who each lead a unit of 10,000 marines under the banner of a clan. Under the Voivodes are the Druzhina who each lead 1,000 marines in a formation known as a Strelkovaya. Each Strelkovaya is broken up into companies of 100 marines headed by a Vajda.

The Draculeans, Deathless Ones, and Huszars are considered the Primarchs own personal Voivodeship.
Legion Command Hierarchy: The command echelons of the Legion mirrors above though some have unique titles in a feudalistic style or moniker style that is unique to a specific Legionnaire.
Specialist Formations:

The Draculeans: The Legionnaires who operate as a highly secretive personal unit for the Primarch. Wearing the old legion colors they are primarily tasked with missions of a most clandestine and off the books nature.
The Huszars: The Primarch's own guard company.
The Deathless Ones: The Legion's Psi-Negative Marines. Marines who manifest this unique trait are immediately inducted into the order of the Deathless.
Legion Wargear Variations (if any): The Legion is known to carry a variety of spears, swords, and axes of an especially gothic nature. While some like the Draculeans have power armor equipped with with cloaking technology.
Legion Vehicle Variations (if any): The Legion is known to sport a number of Stormbirds and Thunderhawks equipped with Reflex Shields to hide their signature. Much like a number of the Legion's vessels.
Legion Fleet:
The Gloriana which Vasilisa uses as her flagship is the Sol's Shadow. Equipped with a reflex shield and equipped uniquely with a Nova cannon capable of firing a projectile laced with Psi-Negative energy.

Midnight's Crown: A crown made of the same material as the Primarch's wings but of a pitch black shade. Mark of her rule over the Legion.

Solarian Blades: Master crafted energy weapons. Often long thin sabers or spears. An unorthodox set of designs than the usual broadsword style of Imperial forces.

Bloodshroud: A cup that Vasilisa supposedly spilled some of her own blood into when conducting the first inductee ceremony when given command of her Legion. Said to always remain full of her blood despite it being used in various inductee ceremonies as a rite of passage.

175,000 Astartes of the Burning Scrolls are divided in to 14 Companies, with the 3rd through 14th Companies being issued the standard .65 bolter and fighting knife set.

The Primarch or Astartes

Name: Aleksandr Zorkastanov

Alias(es) and Titles: Chasovoy (Sentinel) of Gentium, Herald of Equilibrium, Premier of the Seven Stars

Appearance:
Image

Archetype: The Diplomat, Warfare Flexibility, Warrior-Philosopher

Personality: Aleksandr was always one to ensure equality in everything done, no form of going over too far from one aspect in both life and the legion granted to him by the Emperor. While he is one of the more studious ones among his fellow Primarchs, he is no slouch in a fight, preferring to either end things quickly with one strike, or to solve things diplomatically first, earning the ire of some of his more combat oriented siblings but giving a better image to the Imperium to the people. But when it came down to chances, he never gives a second one unless there is a compelling reason to do so.

Fault: He has tasted a more civilised life, and believes that such equality found on Gentium could be spread to the rest of the Imperium with the right push. He sometimes takes too long, thinking over decisions too much, however these instances are rare. But will always attempt to talk things out first before resulting over to physical solutions.

Backstory: One of the 20 Primarchs made to unify the lost remnants of humanity, Aleksandr was also jettisoned Into the warp and landed on a planet that was habitable with signs of advanced civilization. It was lucky that he had landed on the planet of Gentium, a planet whose human populace had just begun their expansion into interplanetary colonization, and had survived Old Night, or as the locals had called it, the Great Static, relatively fine and intact. He was found by a military convoy on it's way for redeployment. Instantly the child that fell from the stars became the talk of the whole seven systems. The pod he arrived in would be studied for now, but the seemingly normal child was simply put up for adoption, however he ended upon the care of a rather wealthy family.

As an only child, his needs were always attended to, however as the years came by, so did the genetic enhancements of the Primarch begin to manifest as he became larger, smarter, stronger, and faster than the rest of his peers. This of course has piqued the interests of the ruling government and had taken him with their consent for testing. The results found were of little use to them as they could not fathom the level of biological sciences applied by the Emperor, even attempts at collecting tissue samples was a daunting task due to the extreme regenerative abilities of the child-primarch. Due to his intellect he was able to accomplish the basic educational system in only a few years and immediately received scholarships from the top universities in Gentium at the 11th year of his life. After only a few years again he was able to accomplish his chosen course and had chosen more and more to simply learn, it had become something of a hobby to him, however war had come about.

A rebellion from the furthest colonies had begun due to unfair legislatures. Having been of the legal age the armed forces had immediately conscripted Aleksandr, the biggest problem having been how to dress and arm an 11 foot tall citizen. While in this war he was able to get a taste for combat, instantly bringing swift victories to Gentium and swift defeats to the insurrectionists, instantly becoming the poster boy of the military then. However there was one thing the government, which had gone corrupt over time, forgot, he would outlive them. After having quelled the rebellion, Aleksandr stayed in service for a longer time. Having attained a higher rank he was able to be privy to some of the less humane acts of the government, fearing for his life he decided to simply be quiet, but while waiting for the right time to strike, he gathered allies who would stand with him when it came to overthrow the corrupt system.

In the next decade, riots and acts of rebellion constantly kept breaking out over increasingly repressive legislatures. According to Aleksandr it still was not the time to strike, however the crew of the people and their suffering forced him to advance ahead of his time table and commence talks with the government, however then Prime Minister Farhine had heard what Aleksandr had to say, he branded him and anyone in association with him as traitors. It was then he decided to storm the Gentium Palace of Leadership, he overthrew them and for their crime of negligence, summarily executed all of them. With the news of Prime Minister Farhine having been killed, all the remaining colonies were free from tyranny, but for three years inter-faction war would tear across the four colonies, tired of the constant disturbances he decided to unify all of them under one flag once again. For another six years he had unified all seven planets under one flag with him as the de-facto leader and eventually elected Premier of the Seven Stars.

Aleksandr was amidst a university class, lecturing about the Six Year War for Unification when a ship made contact with the magnificent golden ship of the Emperor. Initially there was diplomatic channels open for the possible peaceful outcome with their first contacts outside of their realm, however when it was revealed to him that the pinnacle of humanity who was seated across the table of the Hall of Diplomats was his genetic father, he had simply bowed and asked what he requested of him. Directly after that he was asked to return with the Emperor to Terra to be refined in the many arts of warfare and trained under the relative watch of the Emperor.

It was on Terra he learned of the Machiavellian ways of both governance, management, and warfare, he hated it however recognized the necessity of a necessary evil and would use it sparingly in his command. During his off time however he gained a proficiency for crafting and creating warfare of exemplary make as a hobby. Eventually having been deemed ready, Aleksandr was given command over the XV Legion, originally named the Horizon Dragoons, a decently sized legion who he took back to Gentium system to take on local recruits.

War Gear:
Exsolutus Actionis A large hammer with powerful magnets, capable of manipulating amgnetic fields to create blasts of energy upon impact. Able to manipulate magnetic fields to push, and pull multiple targets, and crush a target the size of Astartes. Capable of breaching the side armor of super-heavy tanks in multiple hits.

Protego: Artificer Terminator Armor based on the Cataphractii and Aquilon patterns of armor, suitable for use by a Primarch.

Multitool: A powerfist modified to hold power claws, and a bolter. Crafted to near perfection to allow dexterity of the hand.

Divine Right: The Primarch sized sabre made by the then Gentiumite Armed Forces, redesigned to be a power weapon.

Last Recourse An artificer plasma pistol with a higher power output of an estimated two legionnaire plasma guns.

The Primordial Guard
Image

Preferred Numeration: 15th/XV

Primogenitor: Aleksandr Zorkastanov

Noteworthy Domains:
Gentium (Capital) - Fortress World
Nuevo Borealis - Agri World
Arcadia VI - Hive World
Kondestator - Civilized World
Skogur Oblast - Industrial/Armory World
Jabal - Hive World
Saagar Oblast - Mining World

Combat Doctrine: Widely known when fighting for flexibility to adapt to any situation presented, the Primordial Guard, then known as the Horizon Dragoons, had specialized in breaking defenses, encirclement tactics and mass deployment, evident from their use of Land Raiders and drop pods to mass deploy to the warzone, break the defenses of the enemy, and then encircle them, leaving a small corridor of retreat for the enemy, whereupon they will be given the chance to either talk diplomatically, or die trying to break out. Most individual Guardian Units had their doctrine surrounded around either volkite or plasma weapons who create most of the damage against infantry and some vehicles, however due to a lack of such weapons, their roles have been taken up by other weapons such as heavy bolters, however these weapons are more reserved for specialized units, and simply more volatile and explosive ammunition, and diamantine tipped, or solid diamantine sabot-bolter rounds in limited production, thus a total of up to two to four sickle magazines per Guardian Unit Specialist.

Gene-Seed: The Primordial Guard Gene Seed is relatively stable, a median so to say. The only considerable flaw they have is incredibly rare, whereupon the subjected legionnaire will devolve from a balanced individual into an individual who only continuously thinks of scenario after scenario after scenario, driving them insane in some cases when not given proper suppressant medications.

Preferred Size: 185,000

Appearance:

Origins and History:
The XV Legion was originally from Terran stock. They had specialized in ensnaring the techno-barbarian forces large enough to see to the destruction of significant Imperium forces during the last years of the Unification Wars. Much like many of the Astartes Legions they were present during the culling of the Thunder Warriors, the XV being in the surrounding areas ensuring that the routing and encirclement of the Thunder Warriors would be kept to a very strict cordon to ensure they were all wiped out.

During the beginning of the Great Crusade, they did not have a specific role or favored warzone the Emperor ordered them to march to, only that they were pointed in the direction and would unite or destroy what was there. Initially they were led by Helios Alistair who had made a rather well career leading the Horizon Dragoons in their wide scale deployments and battles. Their names however were not as memorable as they had not done anything as stupendously incredible yet, only having brought worlds to compliance through bloodshed, they were a fierce fighting machine that only knew that a show of power was the only way to unite humanity, even if it meant they were to kill millions of innocent civilians to show it. It was not long however when they would find their Primarch. The day the Emperor came to the Gentium system, he was there to hold onto the leashes of the XV Legion as to not cause a scene and potentially have to cull a Primarch and an entre legion for their failure to communicate properly, luckily Aleksandr was willing to talk.

Their reunification with their Primarch was a very messy one. When the Horizon Dragoons were handed over to Aleksandr, the first thing he had fixed was the disciplinary issues. With limited time and the Great Crusade swinging into action he had decided that for a while, anyone who showed aggression and fell out of line would be killed, a message that many did not receive well but would indeed come into effect much better than Aleksandr had thought. Next was the diplomatic aspect the Primordial Guard are very renown for, more than 50% of their compliance campaigns did not even require many lives to be lost as the approaches were more diplomatic than warmongering, which caused him to clash ideologies with the then Legion Master Helios Alistair who preferred direct confrontation, almost ending his life when Helios had tried the patience of his Primarch for far too long, however after having adapted to each other they had become near inseparable friends. On the campaigns requiring combat, Aleksandr will have taught the Legion the importance of far more intricate tactics, while they are flexible in most tactics, their preferred one had become a much more diplomatic version of an encirclement, allowing their opponents the choice to surrender or die. The switch of attitudes had changed the attitude of the legion to be one of the most tempered legions out there, even having the old Gentian doctrines of the preservation of life and property having rubbed off onto the legion with their evidently new attitude of showing care and some human emotion to civilians

During the Ullanor Crusade however the Primordial Guard would be tested to the very limit. Having seen the massive Ork Waagh! The legion was able to encircle a large horde of Orks in a standard encirclement move to remove pressure from his fellow brothers and sisters. A significant chunk of his legion was lost, majority having been the Terran born members. While the Emperor rescued him and his siblings and the killing blow was delivered to the Warboss, they bled to ensure that the operation was to succeed. However the Emperor had elected a new Warmaster, he was surprised when he was named Warmaster, which he worries whether or not he will be able to live up to the expectations, but was fueled with the desire to do the duty required of him.

As the rise of lodges had become prominent in the gossip of the fleet, while it was not minded at first, Aleksandr one day had remembered how the roots of corruption had started within the Palace of Leadership, in the small groups of people coming together as a group with common interest, soon growing into ambition and power they could not control. The infamous Primordial Guard Order 284, the disbandment of lodges and the ensuing disciplinary actions was enacted, some had refused to follow this order and were put to death due to their defiance. The culling of some parts of the legion had hindered, thus reducing their numbers further. The next phase was the installment of loyalty to the Imperium and the Emperor before their Primarch, through Primordial Guard Order 285, loyalty would be to the Emperor first and the Imperium above all else, chants would have the Emperor first before him was one of the better examples of this. While new Astartes are being trained, their close vicinity to Segmentum Solar allows them access to many more recruits who do not just come from the Gentium systems. Now as the tides of internal strife begin to churn, Aleksandr and his sons now stand at the ready for whatever new missions will happen.

Legion Organization and Structure:
Total Number of Active Astartes: 185,000

Zashchitnik Glava
- The equivalent of a Chapter to the Primordial Guards consisting of 12,000 Astartes idealy, with a total of 15 in active service

Batalli Sgiath
- The equivalent of a legion battalion. Each Zashchitnik Glava consists of two Batalli Sgiath which consists of 6,000 Legionnaires idealy, each alongside supporting equipment.

Dionadair Camarades
- Derived from the Gentium name for company sized units. Each consists of 600 Astartes, leading to roughly 10 in active service per Batali Sgiath.

Strazh Yedinitsa
- Tactical Squad equivalent consisting of 10 Astartes. Originally this unit size was put into five Astartes per Yedinitsa, however due to both compliance and standardization changes were made to accommodate and ease the pressure and stress from logistics

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Lord Marshal of the Legion
Grand Sentinel
Guardian Captain
Starshina
Eolach Priomh
Eolach Mion
Legionnaire

By nature the highest rank is held by the Primarch Aleksandr Zorkastanov, who is surrounded normally in meeting by his 15 Regiment Captains, this formation formally being called the Conference of Sentinels who are allowed to speak candidly to him in regards to battle plans, doctrines, etc. They are also present for advising during diplomatic solutions in compliance, the head of the First Zashchitnik Glava , Grand Sentinel Helios Alistaire, is the presiding chairman of the group when the Primarch is not there.

Specialist Formations:
Conference of Sentinels - The legion’s 15 most distinguished Grand Sentinels who convene before major affairs to talk about the plans and approaches, or should the Primarch simply call for their company.

Ostriye Tolchok - The first Battalion of the 1st Grand Batalli Sgiath clad in Cataphractii Terminator Armor who specialize in breaking both plans and defences of the enemy, thus forcing either a route, retreat, or surrender by disrupting operations to an extreme extent, or by killing the enemy leader by any means necessary as long as the casualties are not too high. They also have an Armored Company consisting of Land Raiders and Fellblades who are simply known as Company A who transport and break directly through enemy lines.

Vigil Confido is the chosen Dionadair Camarades of the 1st dedicated to the protection of the Primarch Aleksandr Zorkastanov.

Ubdi Eigneachaidh - A unit consisting of Astartes members in charge of eliminating whatever secret lodges are left and to maintain order among the ranks if the need arises. They can recruit some members outside of the legion in order to help in enforcement duties.

Paridshy Vishleshak - A group of veteran Astartes who have fallen to their gene seed defect, but are able to keep sane vial techniques and or medications. Meeting often with the Conference of Sentinels or their Primarch, they lay down each and every possible scenario that could happen, limiting scenarios given by the context of the situation presented to them, allowing for the creation of failsafe plans and flexibility on the field.

Andarna Cothrom Scions - A 2,500 strong unit of failed recruits who have a new purpose to the legion, they serve as operators, alongside their Astartes brothers, to crew support weapons and vehicles to allocate more Astartes to the fight. They do not operate all vehicles and support weapons however. Clad in carapace armor and a choice selection from appropriately sized bolters to hellguns. A smaller unit from them is used as a Special Operations group when the bulk of an Astartes hinders them to accomplish their goals.

Operatory Vosstanovleniya - A mix of Auxiliary and volunteer Astartes units dedicated to spearheading the rebuilding of recently made compliant worlds, or to make improvements on diplomatically compliant worlds. With the help of the Pinnacle of Industry they are not only able to replace weapons without the need of a logistics line for a while but to create pre-fabricated homes and structures.

Starthilfe - A mix of Auxiliary and volunteer Astartes units dedicated to spearheading the medical missions to gain the trust of the populace and tend to work together with the Corps of Engineers.

Legion Wargear Variations (if any):
Standard loadouts for the legion, however there has been a note that there has been an increase in the distribution of volkite and plasma guns previously, however being switched over with grenade launchers, more explosive bolts, and diamintine tipped sub-munition sabot bolts. Melee weapons tend to be reserved for officers since the combat doctrine calls for range from the enemy, however each legionnaire is recommended to be proficient with one as a new order for basic Astartes sized assorted melee weapons will be coming soon.

Legion Vehicle Variations (if any): Use of standard vehicles, however has a specific use on both Fellblades, Land Raiders and Mastodon Heavy Assault Transports.

Legion Fleet: 283 Ships with 30 Capital Ships
Notable Ships:
1x Gloriana Class Battleship - Pride of the Nation
1x Nemesis Class Fleet Carrier - Beast Made of Steel

The Primarch
Name: Arkadij Dreyksyn
Alias(es) and Titles: Father of Dragons, Son of Khatarina, Son of the Elder Serpent, and the Seventh Primarch
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: The Cavalry
Personality: Arkadij is one of the more open and kind of the Primarchs. He grew up first under a draconic beast, and then a human mother that truly loved him. He deeply cares for humanity, though the same cannot be said for his sons, who are resisting a temptation brought on by their geneseed with his guidance. His Primarch siblings can always find a confidant in him, as he keeps every secret told to him, unless it was a secret that could destroy the Imperium. He would tell their Father about these, but with the Emperor missing… Well, he is still unable to choose between Malcador and Valdor.

In battle, Arkadij is searching for the most efficient ways to crush the enemy with the minimal amount of shots fired. This kind of tactic is necessary, as his legion is rather small, and coupled with his concern for their welfare, any unnecessary casualties cannot be accepted in his eyes.

Fault: Arkadij’s grey eyes look reptilian, possibly due to part of his genome being derived from reptilian sources. His hair is also a sickly grey.

Backstory: Arkadij's first memories were not typical for any human child. Not even for an infant demigod like himself or his lost siblings. His pod whipped past a night sky, the impending crash heralded by a fiery streak that was seen by millions across the world he fell upon. But the first living beings Arkadij met were not humans. Nay. The humans of Zapozhia Primus feared the mountains upon which he fell, for beasts of fire and death were said to live upon those places.

Instead, the infant primarch crawled out of his pod only to meet face to face with a reptilian creature. It was young, like he was. Unlike him, though, it was not alone, for its mother, an elder matriarch of a whole brood of the creatures, came forth and looked down upon this child. And surprisingly, this fearsome beast decided to make this human child its own.

So for the next five years, he would survive, raised by dragons. That is, until Zapozhian beast masters, brave men and women who dared to tame the mighty drakes, wyverns, and great serpents of the mountains, came to the cave where Arkadij was. The reptilian matriarch assumed a defensive posture and snarled at the humans, but one of them, either full of courage or a fool, cautiously stepped forward and took the young Primarch's hand. He held a resemblance to the woman's deceased child, and the matriarch dragon, sensing this, let him go. Some of the beast masters then proceeded to woo some of the younger drakes into being their mounts. The results of these attempts would vary, but that isn't the important part.

And so Arkadij first had companionship amongst humans. He was strange and unkempt when he first came down the mountains, walking on all fours and not even knowing how to speak. Still, a primordial instinct within him called, and he quickly adapted to the medieval human society on Zapozhia Primus. He grew up under the tutelage of the woman that adopted him, Khatarina, who viewed him as her own son, and he was named Arkadij Dreyksyn, after Khatarina’s grandfather. Over the next century, Arkadij would become a political leader in the city he grew up in. Eventually, through diplomacy and conquest (mostly conquest), Arkadij united the planet under a single empire. Not that there was much to conquer, anyway; there was only one continent with sparsely populated tribes and in rare cases, cities.

When the conquest to unite the continent ended, Arkadij returned to the cave where he was raised by great serpents for five years, and he met the one creature that he could consider a sibling at that point. It was now a great elder dragon (greatly resembling the dragons of old Chinese myth), and its memory clicked, a familiar scent entering its nostrils. They would be inseparable beginning from then on. While it did not breath fire like Vasilia's steed, it instead spat out corrosive acid, capable of turning some of the strongest of structures into skeletal remains.

Unknown to him, the solar system was ruled by a human power, the Moskhatin Concord. It had not interfered with the Zapozhians, and instead preferred to sustain itself. When Arkadij had united Zapozhia Primus, the Great Crusade came and the Concord bowed to it with no resistance, integrating itself with the Imperium. And there, upon that primitive moon that orbited the system’s largest giant giant, the Emperor found one of his missing children, who had always known that He would come.

He would rename the Ravagers Legion into the Grey Dragons, and guided them as his sons, liberating worlds rather than ravaging them. His forces were often farther out ahead, rushing through worlds as if this was a competition of numerical counts. On that affair, Arkadij counted on the other Primarchs to stabilize conditions, as he was no great statesman. He was a conqueror, and a fast one at that. However, when the Dragon Guard retired for a month on Moskhatin, the unthinkable news arrived: His father, the Emperor, was missing. Arkadij hopes that all is alright, as he cannot imagine what kind of chaos would ensue if the Emperor perished...
War Gear:

Ekran: Smaller and lighter Terminator Armour as he is the smallest of the Primarchs at 9 feet, and also to compensate for the fact that he's riding a Zapozhian Elder Dragon. Based primarily on the Tartaros Pattern of Terminator armor.

The Sunpiercer: A power spear wielded by Arkadij himself. It is the single most potent piece of wargear in the possession of the Grey Dragons, and is especially dangerous when used against the weak points of power armour, as its hollow tip contains potent toxins that can instantly incapacitate an Astartes.

Dragon's Voice: A Primarch level plasma pistol.

Grey Dragons
Preferred Numeration: VII
Primogenitor: Arkadij Dreyksyn
Noteworthy Domains: Zapozhia Primus, The Five Worlds of the Moskhatin Concord
Combat Doctrine: Rapid Assault, Hit and Run Attacks, Destabilization
Gene-Seed: Usually, their eyes and hair become a dull grey over time. One flaw is psychological, manifesting in a thirst for causing mindless destruction, known as the Firethirst. Their geneseed is also inexplicably fickle, with some aspirants mutating into Weredragons. These Weredragons retain their humanity, for the most part, but the Firethirst becomes focused inward, and they will have short episodes of intense mental pain followed by long periods of quiet musing. Their Primarch, Arkadij Dreyksyn, has so far guided the Seventh Legion into a stable path, restraining the Firethirst to the best of their ability...
Preferred Size: 95,000
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: Like the other 19 Space Marine Legions, the Grey Dragons were first established on Terra itself. Originally known as the Ravagers Legion, they were drawn from the sons of the techno-barbarian tribes that inhabited the vast steppes in the forgotten lands of far eastern Europe and central Asia. The resultant legion were a fighting force that fought with clean precision, preferring a methodical approach of harrying enemies from their sides, cutting off their supplies, and forcing a surrender after mass starvation ensues. Other Astartes forces could have seen them as cowardly fools that disdained glorious warfare in bloody, protracted melee, but the Seventh Legion knew better. They found casualties above a minimum level to be unacceptable, as their geneseed was unstable and mutated some aspirants into reptilian creatures and prevented sustainable recruitment. That is, until the enemy has been defeated, and their property is up for grabs. This is how the Ravagers got their name: they would gorge themselves in looting and destruction. Though the people will be spared, cities will burn and everything of value would be taken by the Ravagers, leaving the worlds they conquer poor and destitute. Many times, the sword of destruction hung over the heads, with only the discovery of their Primarch saving the Ravagers from certain annihilation by the Emperor and the Custodes.

Arkadij Dreyksyn quickly set forth in the re-ordering of the Seventh Legion. They possessed a savagery that he had seen before in the steppe warriors of Zapozhia, and once again, he will guide them in honing this trait, restraining their madness and instead pointing it towards the enemies of the Emperor that are beyond his light, such as the xenos. New recruits would then primarily be sourced from Zapozhia Primus and the Moskhatin Concord.

The Crusade went on, and the Ravagers were redeemed, turning into the Grey Dragons. While the Ravagers destroyed whatever they wished, the Grey Dragons were as honorable as a legion of hit and run attackers would go. Never again would they leave the worlds they conquer as pale impoverished shadows of their former selves. It won’t be their job to make sure they become good subjects, though. That is someone else’s duty.

Legion Organization and Structure:

- Legion Command: Primarch Arkadij Dreyksyn
-Praetorate or Ancients of the Legion (Senior Staff Officer Cadre)
-Consular Representatives [Senior representatives of the Armourium, Astropathic Chamber, Navigators-Plenipotentiary, Librarus, Apothecarion,
-Masters of the Fleet, Castrum of Ordnance, Castellans of Domain, et al]
-Vexillarius (Legion Standard Bearers, Subalterns and Equerries)
-Honour Guard (Praetorian Bodyguard Formations for Primarch)
-Legion Assets:
Planetary Domains
Capital Class Warships
Secondary Escort Squadrons
Legion Armourium
Legion Apothecarion
Legion Librarus
Auxiliary Forces
Legion Support Corps (Victuallers, Commissary, Legion Serfs, Indentures, Servitors, etc.)

Specialist Formations:

Serpent Rider Squads: Legionnaires that ride upon the dreaded Great Serpents of Zapozhia whilst wielding an assortment of weapons, such as power lances, bolters, and chainswords. They function as hit and run attackers, picking at enemy supply lines before disappearing under massive plumes of smoke. Alternatively, they can be shock cavalry, charging and breaking enemy lines as a powerful battering ram of force. The Great Serpents themselves, who appear to resemble the komodo dragons from ancient Terran myths, have been given armor in crucial areas, improving survivability. However, overall, these are lightly protected, and are seen as the equivalent of jetbike squads in any other Legion, albeit slightly more dangerous.

Drake Rider Squads: Made up exclusively of veterans, these are the flying equivalent of the Serpent Riders, soaring above the clouds before crashing down upon enemy formations, sowing confusion and death in their ranks. The Drakes that they ride are heavily armored, making them rather slow and cumbersome, but they make up for their reduced mobility with sheer shock value.

[/blocktext]
Legion Wargear Variations (if any):
Legion Vehicle Variations:

Predator Striker: A Predator Tank variant with less armor for higher mobility. Its single barreled cannon possesses an advanced targeting system and gyroscopic stabilizer, allowing it to accurately shoot while on the move, as well as lock on mobile targets, such as other vehicles.

Legion Fleet:
1 Gloriana Class Battleship
3 Oberon Class Battleships

25 Indrajit Class Cruisers
75 Eclipse Class Light Cruisers

80 Cobra Class Destroyers
150 Sword Class Frigates
Legion Relics:

None to speak as of yet, other than the Primarch's wargear.

The Dreadnought
Image

Name: Pellolk Tyronan
Alias(es) and Titles: Brother Tyronan, The Ancient, Councilman
Appearance:
Entombed in a Furioso Pattern Dreadnought, Tyronan stands at that standard height of 3.7 meters and weighs approximately 12 tonnes. His armored shell itself still bears the Leviathan colors of deep blues though bears a large, golden Imperial Aquila about the front of the hull. A smaller ovular plaque bearing an ancient sailing vessel and an inscription “AVE NOBILIS DUX, ITERUM FACTUM EST” encircling the vessel is likewise mounted below the Aquila, golden. Likewise, the Raptor Imperialis of ages past is borne about the lower armored legs of the machine, golden hue faded and battered. The shell is heavily worn and damaged, with deep marrs and scratching about the armor as well as a large number of scorch marks.
Archetype: The Elder Warrior
Personality:
Despite his entombment in the cold recesses of a Dreadnought and as a product of the faults in that design, Tyronan is about as personable and talkative as one could be without being flesh and blood. He takes enjoyment from giving lessons, teaching others the best ways of keeping their control or using their powers, or simply recalling past events. As a mental challenge, the Ancient keeps tabs on those who service him, inquiring into their lives on occasion. Such a thing might be as inane as a Tech-Priest going through the process of applying for a reproduction license, but these events still provide Tyronan the raw material for the exercise. He does feel removed and isolated, something the Brother attempts to salve with his talks.
Fault: Unsleeping
Damaged during the execution of the Mitu species, Tyronan lacks the ability to be placed in suspended animation like nearly every other Dreadnought in existence. As a result of this, he is both far more talkative than others of his ilk and far more likely to become senile...or so he is convinced. Tyronan is somewhat suspicious of his own mental state due to this ailment.
Backstory:
Born during the early years in the Leviathan’s existence upon the sainted world of Terra, Tyronan was among those to fight alongside the Emperor himself during the Unification Wars. An honor few still living might claim, he would lay low the tech-barbarians and, in the end, the Thunder Warriors during the periods of turmoil upon Terra, before continuing in the service of the Emperor by being among those sent to Luna with the Legion’s I Grand Company. As a Psyker among the ranks of the Leviathans, expectations were placed upon the relatively young man to fight upon the very front lines, to push against the enemy relentlessly, and he strove to meet such expectations. There, during the pacification, Tyronan would be gravely injured by an artillery assault during an assault upon enemy lines. It was determined that the man would not survive unless drastic measures might be taken and, as a result, he was interned within a Dreadnought coffin.

Following the procedure and necessary conditioning to operate effectively, Tyronan would rejoin the I Grand Company and participate in several campaigns over the years. As a Dreadnought, he was essentially barred from any form of command and experienced time in a disjointed manner, woken and put to sleep as the situation demanded it, until the fateful sieges against the xenos species of the Mitu. There, Tyronan’s sarcophagus would be damaged and he would thereafter be unable to be fully immersed in the sleep most commonly associated with Dreadnoughts. It would be shortly after this experience that their Primarch made her appearance, and shortly thereafter again that the Mitu would be annihilated by both the Voln and Astartes forces. For his deeds during this campaign, upon his armor was placed a golden plaque inscribed with the High Gothic phrase “AVE NOBILIS DUX, ITERUM FACTUM EST”, as well as modifications towards the armor scheme to prevent further damage to the sarcophagus’s relatively delicate mechanisms. The plaque itself was mounted by long-time comrades of Tyronan who knew that, during the Unification Wars, they had actually circumnavigated the globe in their conquests, and who knew that Tyronan had remarked on the fact.

During the period of familiarization in the newly declared Voln Dominion, Tyronan was exceptionally ill at ease. He fought the long peace of a year to be an annoyance, something which could be better spent in other ways, and consistently insisted that they were ready, that they had been ready before their arrival into the Dominion and that they were ready after the arrival, and that they could go off and away to other, far off lands to smite the Emperor’s foes. While he appreciated the creation of fortresses, the building of training centers and familizating themselves with the locals and their various customs, Tyronan had little desire to stay about and, in his mind, lounge while the other Legions were fighting and dying the battles they might fight. Such thoughts were, eventually, made note by the Primarch herself; the thoughts of a Venerable Dreadnought such as Tyronan, especially one which could not exactly ever cease operation, were considered by many, even those leaders of the Grand Companies, and through their thoughts and talks did word reach her. Such a Psyker, interned in such a Dreadnought, gave unique opportunities. Titania capitalized on these, assigning Tyronan to train fellow Psykers and Librarians, to mentor a great many, keeping him close and watched. Tyronan found such distractions to be just that, though they were welcome distractions nonetheless. He pushed himself fully into the sessions, orating with the vigor of a firelit pastor and paying careful, painful attention to each and every one of his pupils. He was fully aware of the dangers that might arise should any one student fall short in something as rudimentary as possessing a strength of will with which a Psyker’s might is contained, fully aware of the issues and dangers which the Flesh Change demonstrated, and was unrelenting to ensure that such an event did not take place. As time passed and the students continued on to other teachers, the Legion eventually would leave Voln space to do as the Ancient wished. They went on campaign, fighting those distant wars, and Tyronan fought alongside the Emperor once again in one of those campaigns.

He became a fixture aboard the Unyielding, the flagship of the Legion and Titania herself, as a being who would listen to any woe of any Legionary, who would speak of ages past should any wish to listen. Aspirants came to him for advice, for knowledge and plans as though he were a counselor. Legionaries would come to listen to the glories, the battles, the foes, as though he were a hero. Officers would come to listen to the battles, the grand strategies and the decisions made by those at or higher than their level. The pained would come and confess whatever sins they felt they bore, and would listen to tales of those whose sins far exceeded their own. Tyronan became a storyteller for those years between stars and wars, his time awake lending appreciation towards tasks other than war. The long years between campaigns could be spent only in so many ways as a Dreadnought. In time, he began to ask questions of others. Towards the Tech-Priests who sang the Litanies of Preservation, who applied the sacred oils, he asked from whence they hailed and what they aspired to be, what they were working upon, and how it was going. He would recall these beings, asking month after month for the progress, in part to ensure that he could truly remember all the details as a test of operation and in part from boredom. As the years turned to decades, even Tyronan grew to enjoy the small successes these people had and, when they died, would mourn them as much as their brethren.

When he was appointed as one of the Magi Council, a circle of Titania’s Librarians who trained others, studied in the Warp, Tyronan took to it as much as any could. While it was no task for any self-respecting Dreadnought as old as he, built and made for war, he had slowly become far more accommodating towards such tasks that did not involve turning living things into non-living things. Eventually, after some time in that capacity, he became part mentor, part student to the other members of the Magi Council, learning of the Warp as much as he might teach of the past. It was, for Tyronan, a great experience and something he would come to enjoy, though of course the Ancient would pass no opportunity to destroy the enemies of the Imperium.
War Gear: Furioso Pattern Librarian Dreadnought
Unlike most Librarian Dreadnoughts, Tyronan does not utilize Force Weapons in his arsenal in part due to the removal of ranged options in his arsenal from such choices. The right arm of the Furioso is armed with a Sol Militaris "Helion Fire" Pattern Plasma Cannon, strengthened by an improved housing to dampen recoil and provide a more stable firing platform. His left is a Contemptor Blood Fist with an integrated Heavy Flamer. This Power First is modified in order to provide for controlled, deliberate bursts of power to the integrated energy field instead of the constant flow others are endowed with. As a result, the weapon is able to effectively disintegrate objects about it when active at an exceedingly rapid pace, though otherwise is a large, dextile hand. Mounted on the roof of the Dreadnought is a Magna-Grapple, enabling rapid maneuver across a battlefield.

Tyronan possesses enhanced armor for a Furioso, built with 75mm across most surfaces originally as well as including an Osiron to accommodate a Librarian. Since his installment, however, the Dreadnought has been significantly improved with heavy Ceramite plating across it’s main hull features in order to guard against anti-tank weaponry. In addition to this, a Conversion Field has been included into the Dreadnought to provide even greater protection.

Like many Dreadnoughts, Tyronan is equipped with a basic Searchlight linked to his right arm, though does possess twin Smoke Launchers flanking the top-mounted Magna-Grapple. These smoke launchers are standard for Imperium units, three single-shot projectors angled out. Their payloads are often not only smoke, including irritant agents in the retinue of potentials, and are at times single-shot grenades to provide for extra firepower if necessary. On each side of the main hull are Frag Assault Launchers, plates of explosive fragmentation charges which project waves of shrapnel out when triggered.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Vin Tallow
Alias(es) and Titles: Sovereign of Zesichi, Outlander, Beast of Zorsia
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Reluctant Soldier
Personality: Calm, Reserved, Friendly, Patient, Distant, and Protective
Fault: While Vin has shown loyalty to the Emperor and the Imperium. His loyalty is not as firm as the other Primarchs to either. Only joining the Imperium out of knowing that resistance was futile and not by choice. He is loyal first to the people of Zesichi and Emperor and the Imperium second. Privately hating anyone of his siblings' showing blind loyalty to their father. Preferring to act on his own and spend time with his legion and siblings that he actually likes.

Backstory: Vin was lucky to have been found before the cold elements of his new homeworld claimed him. For his pod landed on the ice world of Zesichi inside of one of the old ruins that dot the surface. An expedition team, by chance spotted his pod land in a nearby ruin, came to investigate and found him. The team was not sure of what to make with his sudden appearance of a newborn baby but decided on taking the infant back to their underground home. For the people of Zesichi live underground after an unknown catastrophe caused the once lush planet to become a frozen wasteland. Forcing the survivors underground and would soon split into several nations that controlled the parts of the massive caverns that lie under the surface.

Vin was taken back to the Kingdom of Enor, where he became the topic of many citizens of the kingdom before being adopted by a notable noble family. Growing up, Vin was given a noble education and surprised his family and tutors by the pace that he was learning. That and the rate he was growing and while most were taken back by Vin's growing mind and body. Some would come to see Vin's gifts as a sign that he was a freak. Something, not human due to an old Zesichian legend about a monster that hid among humans before revealing itself and killing many before being hunted down. The Beast of Zorsia, they called him but, Vin would mainly ignore this and focus on his education. Though he would grow to hate the name and, at one point, beat up one of the few that kept calling him that.

When Vin became of age, he had many options in front of him. But for him, rather than joining the army or become involved in politics. Vin chose to join the kingdom's expeditions group, one of many groups created to explore and salvage the surface ruins for any advanced tech, lost knowledge, or anything of use. Something that appealed to Vin, and for a few years, Vin would explore the surface, studying what ruins they could find and sometimes made some discoveries and find some advanced tech. It was during one of these expeditions when a sudden blizzard surprised them and forced them to stay in place. For hours Vin and his team weathered the cold, and when the blizzard finally lifted did they return to Enor.

But, to their dismay, things had changed for the worse for the kingdom. While they were gone, the neighboring Kingdom of Verio launched a devastating surprise attack on Enor. Using spies to plant bombs at strategic locations and detonating them when the invasion started and causing confusion among the people. Enor's forces were overwhelmed, and the kingdom would fall. The royal family was killed along with most of Vin's family. Angered by his loss of family and kingdom. Vin would make plans to avenge his family and liberate his kingdom from the Verio. For years he planned, gathered allies, and waited for the opportunity to strike. This came when the Verio king died suddenly, and his children fight with each other over who would rule. Causing a civil war that provided the ideal chance to retake his home. Starting a rebellion that would liberate Enor after a year of war. When it came to select a new king to lead Enor, the people knew exactly who would be more than capable of leading them and Vin was crowned King of Enor.

Vin's first actions as king were to rebuild the kingdom and the military. Once that was done, Vin launched a war against the Verio, with Zeno personally taking apart in the fighting. After three years, the Kingdom of Verio was conquered and made apart of Enor. From there, Vin thought he would be content. His family was avenged, his home librated, and his former enemy Verio conquered and no longer a threat. But, this was not enough for Vin. After seeing the divided nature of Zesichi and wanting true peace. Vin resolved to unite Zesichi under his banner. Using diplomacy and war to add each nation to his own before finally after the fall of the Onsa Republic was Zesichi united. Vin made himself Sovereign of Zesichi after an old Zesichian title, and Vin found himself not content once again. For he wanted to expand his people's reach to the stars, a feat they once had in the past. Vin created several outposts on the surface and, after finding the information need to build a ship from an old datapad. Did the Zesichians launched their first spaceship into space and later ships to explore the solar system.

It was during one of these explorations near the edge of the system that Zesichian detected foreign ships in the system. Vin, at first was cautious with these new arrivals, choosing to meet on one of the Zesichian spaceports and what he discovered he could have never guessed. It was the Emperor of Mankind and that he was here to find Vin, for he was his son. Vin asked what the Emperor wanted, and he only asked that the Zesichians join the Imperium and that Vin join him at his side. At first, Vin did not know what to do but, after seeing the might of the Imperium and how futile it would be to resist and waste the lives of his people. Vin agreed to the Emperor's terms, and Vin left Zesichi with the Emperor to join with his Legion.

When Vin met with his legion and brought them to Zesichi in order to integrate them with his people, learn their ways and foster a better connection to the people of Zesichi and to him. Renaming them from their original name, the Consuls Imperius, to the Sliver Wardens. Then going on several campaigns with his legion and add more worlds to the Imperium for the Great Crusade. Now with the Emperor missing and civil war has begun. Vin has yet to decide which side he is on.

War Gear:
Bane of the Beast - a Power Maul found by Vin in one of the many ruins of Zesichi

Remorse - Custom made plasma pistol that Vin made some time after joining his legion

Artificer Power Armour - power armor that was given as a gift to Vin by the Emperor

The Legion
Preferred Numeration: XVII, 17th
Primogenitor: Vin Tallow
Noteworthy Domains: Zesichi
Combat Doctrine: Close-Quarters Combat, and Lighting Fast Strikes
Gene-Seed: The Sliver Wardens gene-seed is highly stable and has shown little change in purity.
Preferred Size: 135,000
Appearance: Silver Wardens
Origins and History: The Silver Wardens first started as the Consuls Imperius, a Terra born legion that excelled at both close-quarters combat and making lightning-fast strikes. Often preferring to quickly close the distance with their foe and attack before the enemy could react. Engaging in brutal close-quarters fighting that sometimes devolves into a fierce melee. The legion on gone on several campaigns to test their worth and skills to the Imperium during the Great Crusade. Only when they were reunited with their Primarch did their start to really show their worth. After taking the time to connect to Vin's people and bolster their number with Zesichian recruits. Did the now named Sliver Wardens to start the campaign against the Ork Kingdom of Feros 5. It was the first real test of the legion with their Primarch. With Vin leading the charge, the 17th engaged the orks, and after causing disarray with the orks ranks by how fast Wardens were attacking then. Always striking before the orks had a chance to regroup, and soon Feros 5 was cleared of orks. Liberating the human population of the planet and made Vin proud of his legion. Something that the 16th was grateful for and would go on more campaigns and have similar success.

Though Vin would have to hold back his legion at times due to the fact that the 17th was used to conquering rather than peacefully absorbing human nations. Something the Vin had to make very clear that war was a last resort rather than the first when dealing with other human groups. Something that some of his legion did not like but could not go against their Primarch as Vin had made some example of those that chose to disobey his orders. So the legion learned to hold back their aggression and only let it out when it was allowed. Something that Vin was glad to see happen, and he and the legion would go on more campaigns together. Now Vin and the Wardens stand ready to serve more missions for the Imperium during this troubled time.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Phage Vengen
Alias(es) and Titles: The Forgotten One, The Silence, He Whose Name is Poison, "Nineteen"
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Utilitarian
Personality: Quiet and reserved with a biting wit. He chooses to say little to most people. keeping things close to the chest out of distrust for everyone. But when he does speak, it is most often to say some sort of biting or mocking insult to whoever was speaking last.
Fault: Private to an extreme. Tells no one his true name. Prefers using numeric designations as it allows him to keep his history and private details private from everyone. Even to his own legion. The emperor designed Phage with the intention of having someone who is cautious to an immense the degree to have a Primarch that is compelled to prepare for every possible outcome. Which corrupted into a paranoia that led to the conclusion that there is no preparation grander than being rid of all threats. Before they can become threats
Backstory:
Phage was raised by nomadic peoples on the planet Havencia. A planet settled long ago by ancient humans lost in space. The tribes of Havencia at that time were in a state of perpetual conflict. Tribes rarely exceeded fifty people, and moved from place to place either escaping more aggressive and violent tribes or hunting the weaker tribes. In his youth, Phage was in a weaker tribe. Running from cave to cave with his adoptive family. As those that cared for him grew old and weak though, he grew stronger and stronger. When he proved to be stronger than the fauna of Havencia, he boldly began to stand up to the more aggressive tribes. Convincing his tribe to stand firm and hold their ground. Staking a claim on land that could be hunted for years to come. But as time crept forward, the tribe became reliant on Phage for hunting. Attacks from more aggressive tribes thinned the number of warriors and hunters. Until it was almost just Phage himself remaining. It was not long before one of the more aggressive tribes took advantage of this reliance. Attacking while Phage was out hunting. Returning to see his tribe slaughtered, broke something that was already cracked within him. It began with paranoia. Fear, and voices in the dark. Then came the hallucinations. He almost began to believe that the screams of his adoptive mother were real. Hollering at him to get revenge, and to be wary of all around him. And eventually, it became too much to bare. Knowing the only way he would feel safe is if there was no one that could threaten him. He systematically slaughtered the vast majority of the planets population. The few that survived were so meek that Phage only allowed them to live because they were of no threat to him, whatsoever.

Phage was one of the last Primarchs to be discovered. Spending several years on his near genocidal campaign. Constantly preparing for greater and greater threats. Even when he had dominated even the most challenging of enemies on the planet. He still prepared for worse and worse. Compulsively building weapons and traps in an effort to feel ready for any potential attack. Always preferring to be able to win a fight, before ever even seeing the enemy face to face. And when he was discovered, he came close to starting a one man war with the Imperium. It was only the overwhelming presence and power of the Emperor that finally made him quell his assault. Phage was reluctant to accept the role as Primarch of the nineteenth legion. But whenever he thought of refusing, the screams would return. His adoptive mother's harrowing cries of pain and anguish. He knew that the only thing that would silence them would be if he continued fighting. As it was the only thing that ever gave him any peace of mind.

War Gear:
Null Blade: Power sword saber with a focused and extraordinarily powerful corona. Has a pitch black blade.

Boom Tube: forearm mounted, breach loaded grenade launcher that comes with a wide array of ammo types.

Standard issue bolter

The Arsenal: a satchel like pack of ammo types for both Phage's bolter and boom tube. Incluing Kraken and Scorpius bolts for the bolter. MIRV grenades, Flak and Krak grenades, as well as promethium rounds for the boom tube.

The Black Horde
Preferred Numeration: XIX
Primogenitor: Phage Vengen
Noteworthy Domains: Havencia, a small world in the far outer rim. A garden world almost untouched by the Imperium.
Combat Doctrine: Overwhelming force. Using heavy ordinance to deal broad scale damage to targets from range. Typically preferring trap based engagements, supported by artillery.
Gene-Seed: Relatively stable. Paranoid delusions develop in one out of every 400 astartes. The paranoia is a constant concern for the legion. As such since discovery of this issue every member of the legion is assigned two others that they are responsible to watch over for warning signs. likewise every marine has two watching over them as well. When warning signs present themselves they are evaluated heavily. If it is deemed that an astartes is suffering from the flaw, they are often removed from duty and sent to Terra for repurposing. Often being used for manual labor purposes, as to not waste the geneseed implanted within him.
Preferred Size: 50,000
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: A heavily armed legion focusing on long range clearing of wide swaths of enemy combatants from any area. Most of their campaigns during the crusade were against worlds that were almost fully lost. Where Human casualties were unlikely to occur during their barrages. Due to their destructive tendencies and rare paranoia defect, they are a rarely called upon legion. Relative to their counterparts. As such they participated in fewer campaigns than most. But, still operating with honor. Although once their Primarch took command of them their activity grew exponentially. Their tactics grew more focused and reserved as opposed to the broader destruction of their past. Even participating in the Ullanor Crusade. Their strikes greatly helping in seiges against the Ork threat across the crusade.

The Nineteenth Legion were once known as the Harbingers. Though when Phage assumed command he renamed them to the Black Horde. And restructured their chain of command in the process.

Legion Organization and Structure: The first legion has a simple but stringent chain of command. Meant to be clear and strict to prevent triggering paranoia in any marine. The marines are divided into five Hordes, each with a single Orlok. Orloks serving directly under the Primarch. Hordes being broken into ten Companies of one thousand marines each, lead by Noyans. Companies are broken into twenty squads of fifty marines, led by Dargas. The personal responsibility and 'buddy' system in place is meant to serve as the secondary command structure.

Command structure is paltry because of Phage's own paranoia. He never allows anyone to have too much power or sway within the legion. Out of fear of mutiny. And also purposefully breeds distrust between Horde Commanders to prevent collusion against him.
Legion Command Hierarchy:
Primarch
Horde Orlok
Company Noyan
Squad Darga
Astartes

Legion Fleet:
Flagship - The Singularity, A 22km long Gloriana class battleship. Mounted on the sides of the vessel are a dozen plasma lances, 3 dozen standard lances, 20 torpedo tubes, numerous flak turrets, 30 missile tubes, and a belt of macro cannons. There are 12 front facing torpdeo tubes as well as two forward facing plasma lances. Turreted Macro Cannons run along the Dorsal spine of the ship. There are 4 Gravitron Pulsars as well as 60 Bombardment cannons undeslung. And an array of void shields.
50 Hunter destroyers, fitted with plasma torpedo tubes, five of which are Captained by a Horde Orlok, and equipped with Ion shields arrays.
50 Vanguard Mk.III Strike Cruisers fitted with Bombardment cannons, and macro cannons. Each with a void shield generator.
75 Firestorm Class Frigates, wielding a laser weapons battery and single prow mounted lance. each Frigate supporting a squadron of Cobra Class Destroyers that sport a weapons battery and tow forward facing torpedo tubes.
5 Battlebarges one for each Horde, with void shield arrays.
Legion Relics:

Null blade - Phage's personal saber. Forged himself on Havencia with volcanic ores, then reforged into a power sword once he rejoined the Imperium.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Tykos Poio
Alias(es) and Titles: Legion-Master of the IVth, Lord of Xana and Her Armies, The Liberator
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: The Lone Wolf
Personality: Tykos is a man of few words; quiet, observant and patient, preferring to plan and observe rather than take needless, desperate gambles. Someone who doesn't speak because they choose their words carefully, and so when they speak it carried more weight.
Fault: Tykos is, at heart, a loner. He finds it difficult to bear the company of any bar his own equally-stoic sons for long, and has no love for politics or bureaucracy, preferring to choose his own fate at every point regardless of consequences.
Backstory:
Tykos Poio, named by those who had found him, had landed on the prison moon of Xana-Tisiphone. Hidden by the prison population and raised by them as best as they could before they were taken to be used as test subjects or turned into servitors, he grew up knowing only of the worthlessness of life and of the baleful eye of the machine overlords of Xana II, yet his dreams spoke of more, of what could be, of gleaming armies and vast armadas, and he was not about to simply lay down and accept his inevitable fate.

As he grew he moved among the vast prison-pens of Xana-Tisiphone through ancient, secret routes passed down through generations of prisoners, Tykos rallied them together over the course of several years, mapping out the locations of the various pens, the locations of bulkheads, collecting together the stories and legends of previous escape attempts to try to map together a coherent plan. Armed only with crude weapons, they nonetheless readied themselves, and rose up as one.

The revolt was short-lived. Tykos led them out of the prison-pens, overwhelmed the servitor-overseers through weight of numbers, yet as they spread out into the upper levels of Xana-Tisiphone’s prisons, the warden battle-automata assigned the duty of safeguarding the more dangerous things imprisoned upon Xana-Tisiphone’s lower levels awoke, not to crush the revolt, but because the threat of the revolt accidentally releasing their charges was too great. The prisoners died by the hundreds to the rending blades and strange, exotic energy weapons that melted flesh. Tykos bellowed out in defiance they died or ran, the battle-automata capturing Tykos rather than killing him, their cogitators identifying something of value.

Presented to the Vodian Consistory on Xana II, Tykos was promptly turned into a test subject for the lords of Xana, his highly advanced and unusual biology prompting much curiosity from them, any concern for where he might have originated brushed aside in the name of research. Their hubris would be a mistake, for the Imperium would liberate Tykos from Xana and that forge-world, after being purged to Mars' satisfaction, would be forever bound to the IVth's service.

Tykos, having witnessed, if not commanded, his legion during the Xana Campaign found his legion extremely different to the legion described in the Principia Belicosa, yet no worse for it. The Xana Campaign had seen the hundreds of independent Pioneer Companies engaged in a single campaign for the first time, and yet they had performed beyond expectations, each company having similar strategies superficially, but focusing on independent initiative and adaptability, quickly changing to the unusual Zone Mortalis conditions. Satisfied by his legion's capability and tactics, Tykos saw no reason to change what had worked so far in the Great Crusade. His first action in the Great Crusade would be leading the IVth in the defence of their new domain against the Rangda, and after defending his homeworld and domain against the Rangda successfully for eight months in a masterful hit-and-run campaign that successfully minimised the IVth's losses. Tykos would only take a single Pioneer Company into the void afterwards, remaining the master of the IVth through respect and deference rather than actual command, as he did not wish to see his legion robbed of that independent initative.

War Gear:
Liberator and Reclaimer- Twin lightning claws.
The Bulwark of Xana- Tykos' armour, crafted by the repentant forge-lords of Xana II for him as a gift.

The Legion
Preferred Numeration: IV
Primogenitor: Tykos Poio
Noteworthy Domains:
  • Xana I - Gas Giant (Mining Installations)
  • Xana II - Forge World (House Malinax, Legio Vulturum and Legio Kydianos)
      Xana-Tisiphone - Penal/Fortress Moon (Recruiting Ground)
Combat Doctrine: Rapid Deployment Operations, Reconnaissance-in-Force, Guerrilla Actions, Extended Unsupported Operations within Hostile Domains, Decapitation Strikes, Close Air Support
Gene-Seed: The IVths gene-seed has no notable deviations from the norm, positive or negative.
Preferred Size: 155,000

Origins and History:
The IVth Legion was raised from the tribes of the ice wastes of the Thulean Basin, and during the Unification Wars was given the duty of seeking out and destroying the secret lairs, hidden bunkers and boltholes of the demagogues and warlords that ruled Terra, operating deep within enemy territory, raiding and harassing to weaken an enemy in the prelude to a more regular campaign by other forces, operating without glory, far from the center of conflicts, which they took a quiet pride in. Their isolation from the other legions, combined with their free-spirited nature, led to them only following orders from the Emperor himself, otherwise choosing their own courses of action.

As the Great Crusade spread out into the wider Galaxy, the IVth Legion was split up into a hundred Pioneer Companies, dispatched as outriders and scouts for the Expeditionary Fleets, charting warp currents and worlds in the path of the Expeditionary Fleets they accompanied.

The Legion, on campaign, would adapt the same tactics they had used on Terra of patience, adaptability and reconnaissance, extensively scouting a system from a position of stealth before either relaying this back to the Expeditionary Fleet they accompanied before moving onwards if the world was too heavily defended, otherwise the IVth Legion would, focusing on speed and surprise, launch a reconnaissance-in-force by Stormbird, targeting and destroying an enemy’s ability to coordinate resistance and force capitulation in a single swift blow while also testing their defences. If the IVth Legion had misjudged the situation and the enemy did not surrender, and managed to organise resistance and counter-attack, the IVth Legion would retreat, trusting in their own skills and experience to quickly extract as many assets back to their ships as possible before relaying back what they had learned about the world’s defences and defenders to their expeditionary fleet before moving on.

Over time, however, the IVth Legion would gradually begin to attrition itself away under the pressure of its task and the heavy losses it incurred, Pioneer Companies often receiving little in the way of resupply and replenishment, recruiting from whatever sources were available as in advance of the Great Crusade as they were, they far outstripped their supply lines. This did not meet with rage among the IVth, however, for each individual Pioneer Company was content to live, fight and die in the places and ways of their own choices, rather than according to those of unfeeling bureaucracy.

That would change with the discovery of the world of Xana II in 846.M30.

When Xana II first came into contact with the Imperium in 846.M30, the Vodian Consistory, the rulers of Xana had been aware of the Imperium’s existence for longer. They had long since made their preparations to hide their world’s less acceptable practices, among those Tykos Poio in the lab specifically created for the study of his form, kept permanently comatose.

Even as they entered into negotiations with the Imperium for Xana’s admission into it, the lords of Xana denied Mars any access to their forge-fane data-looms and planetary archives to hide their dark secrets and origins, enraging the Fabricator-General. Yet with the First Rangdan Xenocide ongoing, the Imperium could not afford to divert the forces required to take Xana II by storm. The Lords of Xana were playing a dangerous game, for they knew their value to the Imperium, and wielded it as a bargaining chip. Were the circumstances different, perhaps they would have succeeded in their ruse, and the Rangdan Xenocides would have been their way of proving their loyalty.

But the Lords of Xana had miscalculated. For their prized test subject, Tykos Poio, was a latent psyker, and in his coma-dreams he had reached out to the Emperor. The situation had changed from a difficult one, to a crisis. To allow a Primarch to remain a test subject, even in the midst of the Rangan Xenocides, was simply unthinkable. The IVth Legion was summoned back to Terra in full for the first time since the beginning of the Great Crusade, Malcador the Sigilite explaining the situation to the IVths commanders, with the Emperor busy dealing with the aftermath of the First Rangdan Xenocide.

The IVth was enraged, yet alone and as depleted as they had been by the Great Crusade they did not stand a chance of taking a forge-world as powerful as Xana II. Yet Xana II had made an enemy of the Fabricator-General of Mars, and Kelbor-Hal seized eagerly upon the opportunity presented. Although many titan legions were already committed to ongoing campaigns or recovering from the First Rangdan Xenocide, the favour of Mars for such an undertaking was a powerful offering indeed, and so the host gathered regardless.

Alongside the IV Legion, then standing at some 80,000 Astartes, Mars called upon elements of many titan legions, including the Legio Atarus, Fureans, Interfector, Tempestus, Magna and many others, along with their attached Taghmata forces. Although most of the Legio Custodes and Sisters of Silence were elsewhere, 211 of the Legio Custodes and a single Vigil of the Sisters of Silence were under the order of the Emperor Himself added to the Liberation Force, alongside a single titan of the Ordo Sinister, Orientalis-Izanus. Added to this force would be Fanes of the Charonid Sentinels, Regiments of the Saturnyne Rams, Yndranian Seekers, Cthonian Headhunters and the Terranic Auxilia, Cohorts of the Tyrian Exo-Guard, the Magdan Freekorps, Helikon Legion and others, along with multiple Knight Houses and elements of Battlefleets Solar and Pacificus in support.

Yet even this vast force was barely within the minimum acceptable boundary of forces needed to conquer Xana II according to the Divisio Militaris, and so it was to the more subtle force of the Officio Assassinorum that the Sigilite would turn. Deliberately stalling out the negotiations with the lords of Xana II to buy time for the host to gather, a Callidus Assassin was able to infiltrate Xana II and locate the laboratory where the comatose form of Tykos lay, marking it with a teleportation homer in the hours before the Liberation Fleet arrived, while an assassination team of Vindicare Assassins set up to eliminate the Lords of Xana in a decapitation strike to throw the Xananite defences into chaos when the Liberation Fleet arrived.

Even with these preparations undertaken, the Liberation Fleet would spend several hours fighting its way in system through Xana’s own void-fleet and defences, and although the Custodes assault upon where Tykos was being held succeeded in swiftly rescuing the Primarch, the assault upon the rest of Xana II was less successful, as the IV Legion found themselves forced into Zone Mortalis conditions in Xana’s sub-surface forge-fanes while Xana II’s titans duelled with those of the Mechanicus. Yet without the central leadership of the Vodian Consistory and destabilised by the speed and fury of the unexpected assault, a campaign that had been expected to take a full decade was finished far sooner, as lower-level Tech-Priests gradually surrendered, calculating their testimony against their superiors would allow for their survival, throwing themselves upon the mercy of Mars, while their higher ranking brethren, too enmeshed in the ways of the Heretek, fought on to the bitter end. Xana II was brought into the Imperial fold in 855.M30, a decade after its discovery and six years after the start of the Liberation of Xana.

Mars’ purge of Xana II of unorthodoxy was swift and brutal, and although the campaign to take the world had ravaged it, the Fabricator-General was only too happy to lend aid to the world which now rested under joint fealty between Mars and the IVth Legion, now named the Liberators by their Primarch, with the world sworn to supply the IVth alone of the Legiones Astartes in penitence for its sins against its Primarch. Its surviving titans were formed into two titan legions, Legio Kydianos and Legio Vulturum, likewise pledged to the support of the IVth.

Refitting and rearming at Xana II, the IVth would be one of the initial legions involved in the Second Rangdan Xenocide, and alongside the other surviving elements of the Liberation Host, was scattered across the northern fringes of the expanding Imperium to fight a desperate defensive war against the Rangda, gradually being forced back to Xana II itself, the new domain of the IVth.

In defense of their new home, the IVth, not being suited for static defence, would instead adapt as they had in the liberation of Xana II, conducting an elastic defence around Xana. They fought off initial Rangda incursions with the system being eventually blockaded by the Rangda for eight months until relieved at a cost of 3,000 of the already depleted IVth and many of the surviving elements of the Liberation force and further damage to Xana II. The IVth and the forces attached to them would fight in the Xenocides for the next four decades, maintaining a ceaseless war against the xenos, and even after the Rangdan were finally destroyed in the Rangdan Xenocides, the IVth would maintain a single solitary Pioneer Company upon Ranga itself, the legion forever changed by the brutality of the campaign and wary of the return of the Rangda.

In the wake of the Xenocide, Tykos allowed the legion to return to the ways of the Pioneer Companies of old, taking a single Pioneer Company under his own command into the northern parts of the Galaxy in the latter years of the Great Crusade. Tykos would largely remain out of contact with the wider Imperium as he campaigned out into the Halo Stars, content to ignore the politics of the Imperium and seeking to liberate ever more of humanity from the tyrants, despots and xenos and only rarely massing concentrations of Pioneer Companies together.

Legion Organization and Structure: The IVth is split into 800 Pioneer Companies, forces nominally of 300 marines but often half to a quarter of this size. This small size is due to the IVth's intent not being planetary conquest, but as reconnaissance and raiding elements for larger forces that may lack forces willing to be as aggressive in such actions as the IVth are. A Pioneer Company normally is attached to a single ship, and any gatherings of Pioneer Companies are organised ad hoc.
Legion Command Hierarchy:
  • Tykos Poio, The Lord Primarch, Legion-Master of the IVth, Lord of Xana and Her Armies, The Liberator
  • Band-Master - An honorific term used by the IVth to designate the temporary leader of a gathering of multiple Pioneer Companies for a singular campaign, chosen by the Pioneer-Captains present from among their number.
  • Pioneer-Captain - Commander of a Pioneer Company, a force made up of 230 marines in 5 Drop Groups plus additional Pioneer Company-level forces such as armour, super-heavy armour, aircraft, specialist officers and dreadnoughts numbering 70. The highest-level and main fighting unit of the IVth Legion, with each Pioneer Company being meant to operate independently with an Expeditionary Fleet as that fleet’s long range reconnaissance elements. Drop Groups are typically as follows when at full strength:
    • Stormbird Drop Group - 1 Stormbird carrying 1 Kill-Team of 5 Terminators + 2 Pioneer Squads (45 total)
    • Armoured Drop Group - 2 Thunderhawk Transporters carrying 1 Pioneer Squad and 1 Kill-Team of 5 Assault Marines + 2 Land Raiders carrying 10 Terminators (35 total)
    • Mechanized Infantry Drop Group - 2 Thunderhawk Transporters carrying 4 Rhinos carrying 2 Pioneer Squads + 1 Pioneer Squad + 1 Kill-Team of 10 Tactical Marines (70 total)
    • Assault Infantry Drop Group - 2 Thunderhawk Gunships carrying 3 Pioneer Squads (60 total)
    • Mobile Drop Group - 2 Thunderhawk Gunships carrying 1 Kill-Team of 15 Assault Marines and 10 Bikes in 1 Kill-Team (25 total)
  • Drop Leader - Commander of a Drop Group
  • First Sergeant - Commander of a Pioneer Squad of 20 marines or a Kill-Team
  • Second Sergeant - A Legionary given temporary command over the other half of a 20-marine Pioneer Squad when split into two 10s for transport purposes or individual parts of a Kill-Team
  • Legionary
  • Inductii

Specialist Formations:
Pioneer Squad - The IVth’s equivalent to the standard Tactical Squad, the Pioneer Squad has several crucial differences in comparison to the standard Tactical Squad used by the rest of the Legiones Astartes. The IVth’s Pioneer Squads also carry a eclectic array of equipment, where squads that have been out of resupply for lengthy periods of time may have resorted to the use of other, non-standard weapons, ranging from las weaponry, shotguns and autoguns to lascutters depending on the squad’s role and the availability of such. Heavy and special weapons are directly integrated into Pioneer Squads rather than forming them into independent, specialised squads, with most 20-marine squads having five heavy and/or special weapons operators among their numbers. The IVth are noted to eschew specialised squads, instead forming them into Pioneer Squads or Kill-Teams, so Pioneer Squads are expected to fill the same role as Reconnaissance Squads in addition to their other duties.

Kill-Team - The Kill-Team is a veteran Pioneer Squad, tasked to identify, analyse and defeat xenos threats on the battlefield, usually large xenos warbeasts, super-heavy vehicles or other dangerous xenos threats. Kill-Teams are mixed formations including Tactical Marines, as well as where the IVths Assault Marines, Terminators and Outriders are found, with Kill-Teams often splitting up into smaller, more specialised units as needed. This makes a Kill-Team an extremely versatile force, able to be organised according to anticipated opposition and battlefield conditions and often ranging in advance of standard Pioneer Squads.

Extraordinarii - A veteran of the Kill-Teams can be designated as an Extraordinarii, a ‘chosen man’ in High Gothic. Using the arts of infiltration, assassination and sabotage, an Extraordinarii is tasked with striking alone against enemy command structures, important units or defences before an assault. Often regarded as a suicide mission by other legions and even by their brothers, the IVth view being chosen as a grim honour and a sign of the confidence in their abilities held by their superiors.

Legion Wargear Variations (if any):
Often ranging far in front of the Great Crusade, and with resupply opportunities limited at best, the IVth is noted to have embraced several unsanctioned modifications to standard Legiones Astartes equipment, such as the stripping back of power armour back reactor casings, rerouting power couplings and foregoing power armour components such as gauntlets, motive stabilisers, vambraces, pauldrons and helmet to improve dexterity at the cost of protection against heavy weapons fire. Other modifications noted include the stripping of bolter casings and extraneous fittings to improve weapon handling and the removal of flamer safety cut-offs to allow for a greater volume of fuel to be fired at the risk of weapon malfunction.

Legion Vehicle Variations (if any): The IVth is noted to have a lack of armoured vehicles and super-heavy armour, eschewing the use of such vehicles due to their difficulty of rapid extraction. The IVth also largely does not use drop pods, as the nature of their operations often leaves little opportunity for their recovery or resupply, and they are instead noted to use an above average number of Anvillus Pattern Dreadclaw Drop Pods and Kharybdis Assault Claws. Instead of armour the IVth is noted to have a larger than typical supply of Xiphon Pattern Interceptors, Storm Eagles and Fire Raptors for close air support to its ground units.
Legion Fleet: The IVths fleet is noted to have several ships of ancient providence such as the Terminus Est or the assault barque Fourth Horseman configured primarily for planetary drop operations. The IVth legion has 30 capital-class ships and around 800 light-class ships.
Legion Relics: N/A.

Figured I'd give it one more shot while I still had the time

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Sevren Pentecost
Alias(es) and Titles: The Jester, The Smiling Butcher
Appearance: Just barely over ten feet tall, slicked back jet black hair of medium length, fair skin and usually sporting a wide smile with unusually large canine teeth.
Archetype: The Fool
Personality: Quick witted, and always prepared to make a joke. Often has a plan for every, and has everything for his plans. Loves to showboat and thinks himself superior to most. Isn't shy of saying it either. Generally a loyal Primarch and fulfills his responsibilities dutifully. Even if he has a tendency to talk more than act.
Fault: Hubris and talks FAR too much for his own good. Believes his ability to plan is superior to almost all else. Causing him to at times overlook things that he believes to be illogical or foolish. Often mocks the other Primarchs and annoys them with incessant talking.
Backstory:

Sevren was sent into the warp with his other Primarch siblings and arrived on the hive world of Verghast. He spent his time here, deep in the underhive. Raised by a hired gun and taught the ways of bounty hunting at a young age. He took on the occupation of bounty hunting himself the moment he was able. He and his mentor/ adoptive father Sentum Pentecost, quickly garnered reputations as explosively powerful hired guns and were given the most lucrative of contracts. This notoriety quickly became their downfall, as a particularly lucrative contract turned out to be a trap laid by the Planetary Governor as a way to blackmail the pair into doing his bidding. When Sevren boastfully refused, the Governor killed Sentum, sending Sevren into a rage. He slaughtered every soldier protecting the Governor, until he was able to get his hands on the man that killed his mentor. Sevren inflicted as much pain as possible to the Governor as he got his revenge. The events of Sevren taking and torturing the Governor was so public that is was not long at all before the Emperor arrived, knowing all too well that such actions must have been taken by one of his missing Primarchs.

Sevren had nothing keeping him on Verghast any longer. And so when given the option to take control of his legion, Sevren solemnly but quickly accepted. Sevren has since lead his legion mostly with honor. Even if some of his monologues, boasts, and mockery taints that honor at times. Like during the conquest of a world overrun by Orks in the Ullanor Crusade, his boasting and talking allowed a squad of Orks to flank his and his Marines' position while the leader of the Ork Waaagh listened. He lost more marines than he would care to admit during that encounter. Yet in his very next battle, he spent nearly an hour mocking the head of a non compliant human world before killing and replacing him with a new and compliant Planetary Governor. Although these types of incidents are rare. He does most of his talking when conversing with his fellow Primarchs and his legion. He will freely boast and mock anyone who he does not see as his better. Which is truth, is only the Emperor.

War Gear:

Boom Tube: Wrist mounter, breach loaded grenade launcher with a wide array of ammunition.

Standard issue Bolter

The Arsenal: Ammo pack attached to Sevren's armor filled with varrying grenade types, like smoke grenades, flak and krak, as well as prometheum grenades. Along with magazines filled with every specialty bolter round the Imperium manufactures. Mines and traps are also often carried in here, when there is room.

The Azure Serpents
Preferred Numeration: XIX
Primogenitor: Sevren Pentecost
Noteworthy Domains: Verghast
Combat Doctrine: Trap and ambush based warfare. With heavy guerilla assault capability.
Gene-Seed: Stable, although with an extremely rare Pseudobulbar affect occurring in one in a thousand marines.
Preferred Size: 110,000
Appearance:
Origins and History:
The nineteenth legion was part of the first founding. Known originally as the Azure Dragons, the Serpents were renamed upon reuniting with their Primarch. When they were the Dragons, during the early years of the Great Crusade, They often carried out a semi scout like roll for the Imperium. Being so versed in trap and guerilla warfare made them excellent at only engaging enemies on their terms. Or in the rare cases when the Emperor called for it, not at all. Although this has in part changed when Sevren took control of them. They still scout when called upon by the Emperor, but scouting is rarely a tactic Sevren himself every uses. Perceiving himself, and by extension his legion, as being far superior to any enemy they have faced. And so far, he has been correct. Successfully the Primarch and his legion has brought dozens upon dozens of worlds into compliance with some of the most minimal infrastructure damage of any legion. Although, these tactics frequently tend to slow down the legion's advances. Rarely too slow to cause major issue, but also has the slowest rate of advance of almost any legion.

Legion Organization and Structure:

Chapters, consisting of 10k marines each
chapters divided into 2 regiments.
Regiments divded into 5 battalions
Battalions divided into 10 companies
Companies divided into 10 squads.

Legion Command Hierarchy:

Primarch
11 Chapter Commanders - each overseeing a chapter of ten thousand marines.
22 Regiment Lords - oversees 5000 marines
110 Battalion Captains - oversees 1000 marines
1100 Company Sergeants - oversees 100 marines
11000 Squard Corporals - oversees 10 marines

Specialist Formations:

Vipers: Front lines fighters. Equipped with strong melee and short range weaponry like shotguns. Used primarily in guerrilla assault scenarios.

Boas: Expert trap setters. Often sent in first before the main force of the legion to create strategic points of attack and choke points to be exploited in the coming battles. also typically sabotages defenses when applicable.[/blocktext]

Legion Fleet:
Flagship - The Venom, A 22km long Gloriana class battleship.
50 Hunter destroyers, fitted with plasma torpedo tubes, five of which are Captained by a Chapter Commander, and equipped with Ion shields arrays.
11 Battlebarges one for each Chapter, with void shield arrays.

Legion Relics:

Sentum's revolver: powerful eight shot revolver belonging to Sentum, Sevren's mentor and adoptive father.

Abu Rayhan al-Biruni
Name:Abu Rayhan al-Biruni
Alias(es) and Titles: Emir of Hashimite, Lord of the 500 Stars, Lion of the East
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Logistician, Strategist
Personality:Unlike his more vocal sisters and brothers, Rayhan is quieter and reserved. Preferring either the company of his more quiet siblings or his sons.
Fault: Despite having a vast doctrine that covers everything from the transportation of troops to waging a low-intensity conflict in an asteroid field he needs them to fail if they are to be subject to change.
Backstory: Landing on the semi-arid planet of Hashimite the young Rayhan was taken into by the then Lord of the city-state of Biruni where he was raised as an only child and groomed as an heir for the lone state. Here his father, Lord Rayhan realized his son’s ability and accelerated growth as a gift from the Heavens and so began to become a patron for all the scholars in Biruni to tutor the young heir. This could only last a few years however as Rayhan quickly outpaced even his tutors until only after five years on the planet and seemingly a young adult Rayhan assumed the throne of Biruni. Hashimite was a nation host to slightly post-modern technological empires covering vast steppes and small city-states hugging the coasts. Almost immediately the Primarch began his conquests but unlike his siblings, it was a slow conquest through diplomacy and economic warfare with Empires being effectively coup’d due to their economies being controlled by the Emir of Biruni. This continued until Rayhan was forced to go to war with the final empire of Burnus which lasted for a year as carefully laid operation after carefully laid operation yielded an almost flawless victory against the last vestiges of resistance. With the banner of the new Hashimite Empire finally raised over the planet the Emperor’s Fleet raised itself over the planet.

Rayhan always had his thoughts on his origin and when the Emperor landed at the capitol of Biruni Rayhan had his theory confirmed. There was a short exchange about what would happen to Hashimite and his troops. Shortly after Rayhan bent the knee and submitted himself as the XIV Son and Primarch of the XIV now renamed to the Star Spears. Reorganizing his Legion Rayhan start off on his own series of conquests during the Great Crusade. Called the “500 Stars Campaign” the main force of the XIV carved a path out of the Hashimite system. During this, though Rayhan began converting every planet he came across into a self-sufficient planet with the ability to help personally fund, arm, and train both Marines and Auxrallies under both the Emperor and Rayhan personally. At the end of two centuries of fighting the 500 Stars Campaign drew to a close but due to the versatile nature of the XIV Legion and of the careful application of forces Space Marine forces were minimal making the XIV one of the largest legions by the time of Ullanor. Not able to reach in time Rayhan sent two armies under his most trusted generals to Ullanor instead focused on expanding the Imperium’s reach near the 500 Stars. By the time that word reached the Primarch that the Emperor had disappeared the 500 Stars were almost completed.
War Gear: Standard Black Primarch Power Armor, “Hammer of Dawn” Powerhammer forged after the unification of Hashimite.

The Legion
Preferred Numeration:XIV
Primogenitor: Abu Rayhan al-Biruni
Noteworthy Domains:

(Homeworld) Hashimite, (Training and Deployment) War World of Dara, (Recruitment Pool) 500 Stars

Hashimite: Homeworld of the XIV Legion and of their primarch Hashimite in the Ultima Segmentum Hashimite has seen a boom in both development and production turning from a planet just on the cusp of constant LHO flight to the center of the 500 Worlds under the (debatably) direct control of Rayhan. Terraforming efforts from Rayhan turned the vast semi-arid steppes and deserts into a temperate and green planet. Here Rayhan rules directly overseeing the minutia of the planet as a pastime during either campaign or during resting and refitting period on Crusade which has turned the world into a well functioning machine that is able to run the rest of the 500 Worlds with ease.

Dara: One of the first Hive Worlds conquered just ten years after joining the Great Crusade, Dara was the anvil in which the newfound Star Spears were forged and due to both its industrial capacity and loss of life involved Rayhan oversaw the rebuilding of Dara into a War World responsible for the production of equipment for both the XIV legion and the Auxilla from the 500 Worlds.

Jawharat Jamila: The Crown Jewel in the making of the 500 Worlds and planned gift to the Emperor Himself. Jamila was a Paradise World in the making as both a center of production in its underground cavern-cities and as a jewel in the crown of both the Imperium and of the Hashimite holdings. As of current events, the building of the primary Hives is underway and is expected to be complete at the end of the century.

500 Worlds: The primary focus of the Primarch and of the XIV Legion for the past 200 years since the start of Rayhan’s hold of Hashimite and is the embodiment of his goal to show that the Emperor’s tools are needed not just to destroy but also to build an empire to last until the end of time. The 500 Worlds are located at the fringe of the galaxy and are primarily under the direct control of Rayhan and the XIV Legion with a special detachment of 10,000 Marines are in charge of the policing of the 500 Worlds along with the recruitment and training of Legion recruits on Dara. Each world has both the standard PDF and also a detachment of the Rayhani Auxillary stationed of the planet in order to ensure protection from both external and internal threats. These worlds themselves are ruled by governors handpicked by Rayhan usually from other planets in order to ensure maximum loyalty to Rayhan and the Imperium.

Combat Doctrine: Versatile Combined Arms with a focus on having a combined arms force able to work both with or without Imperial Army, Naval, and/or Mechanicum forces in order to ensure the breakthrough and exploitation of enemy forces not only on the tactical level but also on the operational level.
Gene-Seed: Stable
Preferred Size: 250,000
Appearance:

Origins and History: Created late in the unification the XIV legion did not see service on Terra but instead was one of the few Legions in participated in the reconquest of the Sol System. Dubbed the “War Born” due to their recruitment base being orphans from the wars of reunification the surprising stability of their gene-seed was seen even then as the rate of mutations both positive and negative were extremely among those of the XIV.

For years the War Born acted less of an independent force and more so as an attachment to various other legions who needed the extra manpower for the various campaigns across the galaxy during the Great Crusade. For years this lasted until the discovery of their primarch Abu Rayhan al-Biruni. Rayhan recalled almost all of his newfound Legion to the Hashimite system and seeing that by this point they had resembled more of his sibling’s Legions than his own began a process of rebuilding and restructuring that would last a full year before the Legion would set out on its conquests. What was replaced was a Legion that could respond to almost every problem the galaxy could throw at them being arguably the most adaptable Legion in the Imperium, the now renamed Star Spears had donned the pure black banner used by their father for his conquests of Hashimite the XIV set off for war. For decades most of the Star Spears were deployed in Rayhan’s 500 Stars Campaign. A steady conquest of 500 worlds the Primarch deemed vital to creating an industrial and resource pool not only for the Imperium but for himself and the legion. For three decades the Legion carved their way through the area around Hashimite until the campaign ended Rayhan personally raising the banner of the Aquilla over the final Hive City. From then on the Legion split with 50,000 under the direct command of Rayhan to oversee the reshaping of the 500 worlds and the Army Commanders Abu-Bakr, Umar ibn al-Khattab, Yazid, and Al-Mansur each took their own armies and began to expand outward from the 500 worlds to begin the conquest of worlds and systems directly under the Imperium.

By the time of the Emperor’s disappearance, the XIV legion has been in almost every major campaign across the Great Crusade providing a ready source of both manpower and expertise to the forefront which in total caused the Star Spears to have the highest tally of conquered worlds under their respective belts and the combined forces of Abu-Bakr’s First Army and Umar ibn al-Khattab on Ullanor proved to deceive in the holding of landing zones during the beginning of the invasion. After the victory at Ullanor Abu-Bakr was the representative for Rayhan as the Emperor declared the Warmaster. After which the two armies under Abu-Bakr and al-Khattab returned to Rayhan and by the time of the split between Malcador and Valdor. Most of the legion was present at the 500 worlds.

Ekkehart, Primarch of the XIII
Name: Ekkehart
Alias(es) and Titles: Lord of Ruin, the Stormtide
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Warlord | Engineer
Personality: Highly mercurial, she is only able to find peace and serenity in the midst of battle. Outside of it like a flash of lightning her mood can change suddenly. If in a good mood she is highly jovial, eager to share jokes, but if not then it is best to leave her to her solitude till the next battle a come.
Fault: When not in the eye of the storm, the calm serenity amidst the thunderous clashing of arms, she hears a constant ticking. It is not a consistent clock, sometimes it is quiet and slow at the back of her mind, but at other moments it grows louder and faster until she can think of nothing but it. With the Emperor’s disappearance it has only grown louder and bolder.
Backstory: The 13th pod landed upon the world of Tzvaro, a tectonically unstable world wracked with constant storms and earthquakes, the sky choked with chemicals from an industrial past which near completely blotted out the sun. Those who lived on the surface did so in great convoys. One such convoy found her wandering the wilderness, unperturbed by the calamity around her. The Svazageiti adopted her as one of their own, and before long she was fully grown and initiated.

She rose through the ranks at a rapid pace, becoming known for her aggression and bloodlust. She envisioned new machines of horror, vehicles of such size and brutality that none could stand before them. When her vision proved true, and her horrors effective, she was elected the admiral of the Svazageiti, whereupon she undertook a conquest of Tzvaro and added fleet after fleet to her collection. By the time the Emperor arrived there were no more foes to be fought, nor convoys to be crushed.

She set no challenge for the Emperor, nor attempted to battle him. She relished the opportunity to leave the blasted world and test her mettle on a galactic scale. She named her legion the Storm Lords, bringing over many of the same systems she had worked with on Tzvaro. Though she never returned to it, it remains the principal recruiting ground for the legion, its vehicular fleets having returned to a state of constant warfare.

War Gear:
The Gizzard - Artificer terminator armour. It is equipped with two in-built weapons, a bolter on the right, and flamer on the left. It can also be easily modified to attach a Cyclone Missile Launcher atop its shoulders.

Blot - the personal command vehicle of Ekkehart, a heavily modified Shadowsword, the Blot sported additional armour, an improved engine, and many command functions.

Nero - A Thunder Hammer of sufficient size for a Primarch

The XIII, the Storm Lords
Preferred Numeration: XIII
Primogenitor: Ekkehart
Noteworthy Domains: Tzvaro
Combat Doctrine: Armoured Warfare
Gene-Seed: The geneseed is considered of middling stability, though the Legion does suffer from a flaw known as ‘the Rot’. The Rot affects most, though only a damned few suffers its full effects. The immune system of the marine affected has a chance to go into overdrive when hurt. For a very few this results in accelerated healing for a time, but for most this is soon reversed as their immune system attacks their own cells. This can in most cases be contained, the damage halted until it returns to normal, but for some, or those who are unable to get to an apothecary, it results in amputation and mechanical replacement. The few worst are affected mentally, becoming disgusted with their flesh, which in turn sets off the rot randomly, resulting in their further mechanisation, until they are more machine than man.
Preferred Size: 105,000
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: The XIII Legion did not have the most auspicious starts. While others Legions were busy conquering world after world, they were struggling with a strange and rare defect. The ‘Rot’ as they called it wormed its way through the legion, decimating their ability to replenish their numbers. It only grew worse as time went on, as their geneseed also began to suffer from it. Their need to replace body parts with mechanical substitutes led to them being known as the ‘Iron Legion’.

By luck their Primarch, Ekkehart, was found fairly early on. She was introduced to only roughly four thousand souls, far below its starting strength of ten thousand. Her genetic material was used to create new, far more stable geneseeds, while the Mechanicus worked diligently to eradicate the source of the ‘Rot’. They were ultimately unable to, but they had succeeded in stabilising it and reducing its effectiveness.

She renamed them the Storm Lords, introducing her new doctrine based upon armoured warfare, and filling the ranks with new Tzavarene recruits. Few Terrans still remain, most having still been afflicted by their older geneseed flaws, and so near all Terran traditions of the legion have been forgotten.

Legion Organization and Structure:
The Storm Lords are currently divided into nine ‘Lines’, of disparate sizes although they were roughly intended to number ten thousand. Each Line is divided into ten ‘Lances’, roughly comparable to chapters in other legions, which are intended to be largely self-sufficient. Each Lance is divided into ten ‘Columns’, which are then subdivided into squadrons.

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Amrayl - Commander of a Line
Komitore - Commander of a Lance
Mirzha - Commander of a Column
Hevdin - Commander of a Squadron
Ondzvin - Roughly comparable to a sergeant
Kadrit - A legionary

Specialist Formations:
Death’s Head - Comprising the most savage and cunning of the legion, it is formally the Primarch’s bodyguard although it is also utilised as an elite company. Its members wear Cataphractii Terminator armour, divided between platoon utilising a more standard variety and one equipped with a siege variety

Legion Wargear Variations (if any): N/A
Legion Vehicle Variations (if any): N/A
Legion Fleet: 100 Capital Class Ships, 188 Light Class Ships
Legion Relics: TBD

Name: Leonardo de la Venganza

Alias(es) (if any): Fortress

Age: 73

Appearance:
Image

Organization (if any): Imperial Army/24th Gentium Guards Heavy Tank Regiment

Ranks and Titles Colonel/Regiment Marshal

Personality: Calm, Candid

Backstory:
Leonardo de la Venganza was originally born in the world of Nuevo Borealis, the agri-world of the Gentium sub-sector in Beta-Garmon. For most of his youth he had been trained in the ways of agricultural life, however unlike most agri-worlds in the Imperium, Nuevo Borealis was neither a feudal world, nor a technologically inept world, but instead was almost the exact opposite with near automated farming methods. For most of his life, Leonardo was a tractor farmer, his personal favorite being the new tractors that came from the Terran hive city of Addaba, seemingly refined and reliable. However at the age of 20, the Primarch Aleksandr Zorkastanov had announced the need for new regiments to be raised for the Imperial Army. Deciding to one up the system, Leonardo signed up to become a member of the XV Legion; while he passed the initial first half of the training, primarily the educational part of the training, however failed the physical aspect of the entrance exam only by a hair. The Guardian Captain in charge of the training of inductees had recommended him to the University of Gentium’s Institute of Defense Studies.

For four years he learned how to lead formations and command others, to inspire fear and leadership in others. His specialization however was for armored warfare. Soon enough he graduated and was assigned as a lieutenant in the then 24th Heavy Tank Regiment. For over 53 years they had participated in numerous battles especially in the Halo Stars system. However they first earned their Gentium People’s Citation star in the Rangdan Xeoncide, where their role, despite suffering heavy casualties, their role was originally to pound the enemy fortifications to dust, however against a foe near equal to Imperial and Mechanicum technology, their tactics soon changed to striking at the weakest spots instead and breaking an opening for the rest of the Imperial forces to exploit. This was also how Leonardo would earn the respect of the entire unit, when he had used his Baneblade, the Swift Justice as a distraction to draw fire from the Xenos forces; running on a skeleton crew they had charges one of the gun lines to allow for the others to acquire targetting solutions on the enemy positions. The results ended in a fight with lesser casualties than intended, and one Baneblade beyond repair. When he was found, him and the skeleton crew were covered in shrapnel wounds, with holes found all over the front of the war machine, some speculating that the entire lower glacis plate having been missing by the time medicae teams arrived.

Their most notable fight however was on Ullanor, whereupon fighting to the eastern flank of the XV Legion, their kinsmen, had held an important mountain pass from Ork retaliation. While in propaganda, they stopped the greenskin threat by sheer skill, in reality the pass was littered with the wrecks of the tanks of the 24th, creating an obstacle course for Orks and funneling the enemy further to destroy them. By the time Leonardo witnessed the Emperor leave for Terra, he was but a Major, a Vice Regiment Marshal by local rank. In the entirety of Ullanor, the 24th gained the prestige of being called a Guards unit, and the right to carry the laurel and globe on their gear, there are even debates as to the unit being able to carry the red banner of the Imperium as well.

Notable Skills and Experience: Vehicle Urban Warfare, Siegebreaking, Formation Harassment, Long Range Combat

Important Personal Equipment:
Wrath of the Sun - A Volkite rifle remodified to become a carbine

Farmhand - Power Saber designed in the old traditional Gentian Armed Forces saber

Morgan Duri
Name: Morgan Duri
Alias(es) and Titles: The Bloody-Handed, Grandmaster of the Amber Order, Hierarch of Galaspar
Appearance:
Image

Archetype: Utilitarian/Executioner
Personality: Morgan is cold and callous, in some ways having more in common with one of the Magi of the Mechanicum than his fellow Primarchs in his thought process. He regards himself as a logical person, one who ignores petty emotions, be they his own or others, or indeed anything that gets between him and his end goals.
Fault: Morgan’s fault is his callousness; it prevents him from forming attachments beyond those of a purely functional nature, leaving him and his legion relatively isolated, alone and untrusted, even by the standards of the more isolationist legions.
Backstory: Morgan Duri fell to earth on the hive world of Galaspar. Settled during the Dark Age of Technology, its surface was covered with massive Hives that rivaled those found within Segmentum Solar. Outside of the fortified hives, millennia of unbound human population expansion and industrial spoil had obliterated the planet's environment and rendered Galaspar an arid, irradiated wasteland. Galaspar was ruled by a tyrannical junta called The Order, which reduced its population to numbered labour units that were euthanised as soon as they were unable to work and maintained its control through mass terror and the spread of addictive substances throughout the population, and sat at the heart of a small stellar empire of eleven systems in a cluster.

Morgan’s pod smashed its way through the protective armour of one of Galaspar’s many hive cities, eventually coming to rest in the upper spires of the hive were Morgan was found and adopted by the noble Duri family after being evaluated by The Order for genetic taint and mutation. Finding none, his adoption was allowed. Morgan was raised in Galaspar’s nobility, which formed The Order’s upper ranks; its decision makers and bureaucrats, the commanders of its armies. Morgan quickly proved himself as a ruthlessly efficient and practical person in the academies of the nobility, rising through the mazes of byzantine intrigue as if he was born to them, paired with a learned disregard for emotion and life, focusing solely on the data presented.

Over the course of years, Morgan was able to climb The Order’s hierarchy, coming to appreciate its callous effectiveness in delivering the results it desired. By the time of Galaspar’s discovery by the Imperium in 845.M30, he was the Grandmaster of The Order and Hierarch of Galaspar. Although the contact was initially hostile, with multiple instances of Galasparian fortress-monitors engaging the scouts of the Great Crusade, once contact was properly made Morgan bowed before the Emperor of Mankind willingly. Introduced to the I Legion, he remoulded them in his own image, in the same strict, brutal hierarchy of Galaspar. For the rest of the Great Crusade Morgan would remain in the Galactic South, fighting in the conquest of the Hungering Gyre, the Veiled Region and the Mandoragan Stars, only rarely leaving the front lines of the Great Crusade.

War Gear:

The Death of Worlds - A relic of the First Legion, the blade known as the Death of Worlds was pattern-welded from fragments of adamantium collected from the hive cities and fortresses conquered by the I Legion. With each world its wielder presides over the death of, new fragments are added to its length and, by the end of the Great Crusade, the Death of Worlds had grown to such length that only the Primarch of the Legion could bear it into combat. The shards pattern-welded to its edge carry the curse of a thousand dead worlds, the ragged blade tearing apart its victims with a vicious spite.

The Mantle of Terra - A masterfully wrought suit of artificer armour struck from Terran steel, the Mantle of Terra embodies the pragmatism of the Legion in its simple, utilitarian
functionality and endurance.

The Amber Order
Preferred Numeration: I
Primogenitor: Morgan Duri
Noteworthy Domains:
  • Galaspar IV - Hive World
  • 10 Minor Worlds around Galaspar IV, primarily Agri-Worlds and Mining Worlds
Combat Doctrine: Heavy Infantry Assault, Attritional Warfare, Planet-Kill and Exterminatus Operations, Zone Mortalis/Close-Quarter Actions (Space Hulk Purgation, Boarding Actions, Line-Breaker attacks, ‘Forlorn Hope’ assaults)
Gene-Seed: The I Legion’s gene-seed has no notable flaws, aberrations or traits beyond the ordinary.
Preferred Size: 122,000
Appearance:
Image

Origins and History: The Amber Order, then only known as the I Legion of the Legiones Astartes, was the first of the legions. In some ways a prototype for those that would follow, the I Legion was initially split up into a large number of Hosts that were spread among the Emperor’s armies during the Unification Wars, each Host experimenting with different methods of warfare and organisation, pioneering the techniques and organisational structures that would later become the Principia Belicosa. As other Legions gradually became active and took the harsh lessons of the I Legion in and further refined them by virtue of their more specialised natures, Hosts were gradually absorbed during the Unification Wars and the Conquest of Sol, where the I Legion fought in the distant Oort Cloud and upon the false world of Sedna.

As other legions won glory and honour in the early campaigns of the Great Crusade, the I Legion largely continued to fight on the fringes, against foes that would remain hidden, the records of their campaigns redacted and sealed due to what they fought. As the Great Crusade continued, a rancor set into the I Legion as it pushed itself harder, ever seeking greater victories to reclaim its place as the first among the legions not in number alone. The Hosts were gradually destroyed or absorbed into one another as the Great Crusade ground on, some simply not required anymore, some failing and being destroyed in battle as a final lesson. Yet no matter how great the victory, no matter how skillful and precise the tactics, the I Legion could not reclaim the glory of those early years. So the I Legion started to learn one last lesson of war, exemplified by the Incaladion Campaign of 840.M30 to 842.M30, where over 20,000 Legionaries of the I Legion would perish in a bloody conflict to conquer that war-ravaged forge-world.

It was to this depleted legion that their Primarch, Morgan Duri, returned. Finding his legion acceptable, Morgan resolved to let the I Legion continue down the path they had set themselves on; that victory was a matter of willingness to accept losses and sacrifice on the path to it. Although the I Legion retained all the hard-won knowledge of the Hosts, they began to default to attritional and siege warfare, relying on chem and rad weaponry and a willingness to fighting in the harsh environments such weapons created to secure them victory. The I Legion, ever prideful, took to their new, grim duties with it, regarding it as a unique honour to be granted the bloodiest and most drawn-out of campaigns.

Legion Organization and Structure: The I Legion retains the standard structure of the Principia Bellicosa. The Amber Order’s primary unit is the 2,000-strong Chapter, split into two Battalions, with each Battalion having 10 Companies, with each Company having 10 squads and/or squadrons.

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Chapter - Lord-Praetor
Battalion - Knight-Praetor
Company - Captain
Squad/Squadron- Sergeant

Specialist Formations:

Cytherionii - The Cytherionii are the longest-serving veterans among the ranks of the Amber Order and each 10-strong squad of Cytherionii is assigned to an officer of the Amber Order, charged with the protection of their charge’s life at any cost, even their own. Equipped in artificer armour and armed with Terranic Greatswords and the Cytherion Pattern Aegis that grants them their name, a creation of the lost city of Cytherion upon Mercury that provides the Cytherionii with a very high degree of protection in addition to their already formidable armour, better allowing them to protect their charges from harm.

Scutarii - The Scutarii are the I Legion’s Terminator elite, the tip of their fortress-shattering, beast-slaying spear. Formed into 10-strong squads and armed with Terranic greatswords, Cyclone missile launchers and hand flamers loaded with chem-munitions and a pair of heavy flamers likewise loaded, they fight with hard-won experience learned from the scouring of countless worlds and the storming of unnumbered fortresses as the vanguard of the I Legion’s assault.

Thraexii - The Thraexii are the I Legion’s destroyer squads and are dedicated to one purpose; the utter obliteration of the enemy. They leave behind no trace of those they conquer, no bodies or ruins, taking no trophies and telling nothing of those that have fallen before them. Formed into 15-strong squads and armed with assault grenade launchers carrying krak, rad and toxin grenades in addition to phosphex bombs and a trio of missile launchers with suspensor webs and carrying rad and stasis missiles, they are what the I Legion calls upon when no method is beyond use.

Veleii - The I Legion’s heavy weapon experts, the Veleii are armed with heavy bolters with shrapnel bolts and rare molecular acid shells for anti-infantry work, although these are swapped out for missile launchers with frag, krakand flakk missiles when assigned to anti-armour duty. Amongst the finest marksmen of the I Legion, the Veleii are often attached to the lead elements of an assault to better provide fire support in the reduction of enemy strongpoints and fortifications.

Dimarchii - The Dimarchii are three-Legionary teams trained in the art of sabotage and disruption. Equipped with the rare Enigmatii Jump Pack and infravisors and armed with Terran charge-blades and needle pistols and one of the squad with a grenade launcher with frag, krak and stasis grenades, the Dimarchii are the I Legion’s raiders, crossing the no-man’s land between siege lines under the cover of nightfall to gather intelligence and probe for weaknesses in enemy lines.

Legion Wargear Variations: The I Legion retains a sizable quantity of relic and proscribed weaponry gifted to it by the Emperor Himself at the outset of the Great Crusade such as molecular acid shells, Terranic greatswords, stasis weaponry and a higher proportion of units issued with rad and phosphex weaponry, which has been bolstered through the addition of chem-munitions of the I Legion’s own devising.
Legion Vehicle Variations: The I Legion has a slightly higher proportion of artillery vehicles, but is otherwise typical of the Legions.
Legion Fleet: The I Legion’s fleet is noted to have a far higher proportion of relic ships such as Tiamat class destroyers and Promethean class cruisers amongst its ships and is noted to have a ratio skewed more in favour of capital class ships compared to many other legions, having 76 capital class ships and 147 light class ships.
Legion Relics: N/A.

The Primarch or Astartes
Name: Metillius
Alias(es) and Titles: The Champion, The Bloodied
Appearance: (Please put image in spoilers)
Archetype: The Brute
Personality: Not as brutish as his nature would leave some to think, Metillius can be good company when his mind isn’t elsewhere.
Fault: Only really interested in fighting and combat. Has been known to fall prey to the Battle Frenzy of his legion
Backstory: Landing on the world of Elyte, Metillius was quickly found by a local farming family that took him in. They were simple people and did their best to raise the rapidly growing and ageing Metillius, though he quickly earned a reputation in the local villages as a fighter, preferring to spend his time doing that then the mundane and boring farming his adoptive family did.

It wasn’t long before Metillius, encouraged by his eldest adoptive sister, would set out on his own, having rapidly outgrown the little home his adoptive family lived in. There was only one destination that he had in mind, the capital city, where great gladiatorial arenas entertained millions daily. Upon arrival he finally felt at home, and quickly joined one of the hundreds of gladiator guilds.

Metillius quickly became a star of the blood sport scene, rising to immense prominence both thanks to his physical characteristics, a towering muscle bound man, but more importantly with the way he fought. The crowds desired blood and sport, and he gave them both aplenty.

At first he was pitted against regular human foes, but both he and the crowd quickly grew bored of the swiftly ending matches, though the crowds would always love to watch him in the greater melees, slaughtering dozens upon dozens of opponents. He quickly graduated to local beasts from the world, then special orders from off world (Elyte didn’t have space travel capabilities, but it was frequented by xenos and other spacefaring beings), ranging from the brutish beasts to even bands of xenos who traveled to the world specifically to challenge this ‘Champion of champions’. Matillius triumphed over them all.

He was lavished with riches, women, slaves, every luxury even a king would need, but he never seemed to care for any of them. He simply lived for the fighting. He sent much of the riches back to his adoptive family, for while he never meshed with them he was grateful all the same that they had taken him in, though he was quite sure he would have been fine regardless.

Eventually the Imperium reached Elyte, and the Emperor himself was in the Masters Box when Metillius fought his last grand tournament. Afterwards they spoke, and the Emperor offered Metillius the one thing he had ever wanted. Too keep fighting, in greater and greater battles, against tougher foes, and Metillius left with the Emperor to meet his gene-sons.

Matillius was not impressed by them in the slightest. They were too methodical, too rigid, they treated war and fighting as little more than numbers and logic, leaving out the thrill and the sport of it all, and Matillius set about correcting that. On the next campaign he forbade his legion from using ranged weapons in any capacity, and as dutiful sons they obeyed, throwing themselves into a meat-grinder with just melee weapons and their hands. It seemed to awaken something within the legion, and they began to see combat like their Primarch, as spot and an artform, almost an amusement.

Since then the legion has rapidly transitioned into the preeminent melee and close quarters battle experts, using ranged weaponry generally only to suppress an enemy to be able to close with them.
War Gear:

The Legion
Preferred Numeration: VI, Marauders
Primogenitor: Metillius
Noteworthy Domains: Elyte
Combat Doctrine: Melee and close quarters battle, with use of heavy weapons to suppress the enemy and close
Gene-Seed: Slightly unstable, leads to hyper-active ossmodula and biscopea organs, causing them to become noticeably larger, stronger, and tougher than the average Astartes. Also weep blood on occasion. Prone to battle-frenzy under stress, causing the Astartes to attack anything not their own.
Preferred Size: 150,000
Appearance: (Please put image in spoilers)
Origins and History:

Upon its founding, the Sixth legion was quickly distinguished from other Astartes. Thanks to a flaw in their gene-seed, the Astartes of the VI legion had hyper-active ossmodula and biscopea organs, causing them to become noticeably larger, stronger, and tougher than the average Astartes. However despite these developments, which would have led to a natural advantage in melee combat, the VI Legion opted for a more measured approach to combat, establishing themselves as a jack-of-all-trades. This changed with the unification of their Primarch, who had spent much of his time in the blood arenas of Elyte. Their Primarch swiftly saw to changing their style of war-fare, banning all ranged weapons for their next campaign, forcing the legion into pure melee combat.

Something awoke within the Astartes, a drive much like their gene-fathers to seek the thrill of melee and close quarters combat, and the legion swiftly altered it’s style of warfare. While they didn’t abandon ranged weapons entirely, the most noted use of ranged weapons now is that of heavy weapons, used to pin and suppress enemies and allow the Astartes to close in to close combat.

Since then the legion has become the foremost melee and close quarters combat experts, as a whole, of all the legions. They have come to rely on other legions or the Imperial Army for much of their long range combat, but work well in conjunction with those they regularly work with.

Legion Organization and Structure:
While officially in command of the legion, Metillius leaves most of the day to day to his Legion Master, instead focusing his attention on the training and sparing of his Astartes. This also extends to combat operations as well, as Metillius is fully aware of his own tendency to charge into and get lost in the fighting, which isn’t conducive to broader strategic and tactical planning.

Due to the Marauders focusing almost solely on melee and close quarters battle, they have developed a very initiative based approach to warfare, which when ordered movements and battle is no longer an options, officers, NCOs, and even the average Astartes are expected to seize their own initiative if orders from higher levels are forthcoming, though usually squads will stick together regardless.

The overall legion organization is as follows
Grand Ludus, replacing Grand Companies
Ludus, replacing Chapters
Phalanx, replacing Companies
Warband, replacing Platoons
Band, replacing Squads

Legion Command Hierarchy:
Primarch Metillius
Legion Master Maximus Cato
Grand Ludus Master, not a permanent rank, only appointed when a Grand Ludus is formed
Ludus Master
Captain
Lieutenant
Sergeant
Gladiator, basic Astartes rank
Fighter, a Prospect in training
Prospect, potential recruit undergoing initial trials

There are also honorary ranks and titles, which while not granting specific ranks do make those given them influential and sought out for advice, etc.

Grand Champion. The best of the best, the most accomplished and masterful of the legion, they are the exemplars and their words carry much weight and influence. They often serve as the Primarchs' personal agents as well.

Champion. Astartes who have distinguished themselves and been noted in the eyes of their superiors and comrades as being masterful in their craft. Champions must pass several trials of combat before they are finally awarded the honor, and often receive personal gifts from the Primarch. Based purely on individual skill.

Blooded. Not an easy honorific to be granted, but one of the earliest ones possible. This is an honorific that is granted to those still not considered veterans but who have distinguished themselves all the same. A large percentage of those who are deemed as Blooded often rise to become champions.

Honored Veteran. Often those of senior NCO ranks and higher will hold this title, distinguishing themselves as competent leaders and fighters.

Specialist Formations:

The Iron Breakers: Dedicated anti-armor formation, broken down into squads and dispersed to Phalanx’s. While not totally forgoing melee combat, they primarily concern themselves with being ready and able to destroy enemy armor, be it with anti-armor charges and grenades or more long range means.

Berserkers: Astartes who have lost themselves to the Battle-Frenzy. While they are not in such a state all the time, once in combat they will attack any and everything before them that isn’t an ally, combatant or not. The size of this formation varies, as these Astartes are often set loose in the absolute thickest of combat.

Legion Wargear Variations (if any): The Marauders have an extensive list of melee and close quarters combat weapons. Heavy weapons are also used, but almost entirely for the purpose of pinning enemies in place.
Notably is the Chain Glaive, or Chain Halberd, specifically manufactured at the request of Metillius for his legion.
Legion Vehicle Variations (if any): Due to their increased size, the legion does make use of a large number of Land Raiders and modified Rhinos for transportation. Armor and artillery is almost entirely trusted to Imperial Army elements.
Legion Fleet:
1 Gloriana
4 Battleships
20 Battle Barges
80 Strike Cruisers
120 light vessels
Legion Relics:
