The Ross Coup D'état

[Meretica]

Senator Perseus Black, the nation's leading delegate to the World Assembly, has called for the removal of President Rachel Ross on grounds of corruption. Pro-Ross extremists storm Black's home and murder him and his family via electrocution. Ross condemns the acts of violence but also denies being corrupt.

Queen Sinestra, fearing more violence, summons the Royal Advisory Board but excludes Ross from the meeting, hoping to form an unbiased committee to investigate the matter thoroughly. However, more Ross supporters begin rioting outside of the Imperial Palace. The Royal Guard is positioned around the perimeters of the Palace; Queen Sinestra calls on Ross to use the army to force the rioters to stand down, but Ross does not comply. The Queen officially calls for Ross to be impeached and removed, but Ross calls the Queen "out of order" and also calls for new elections in the Senate. With the legislature practically dissolved without any warning, Ross now holds almost total control over the nation.

With the Queen's life in danger, as well as the loyalists within the Imperial Palace, the Meretican monarchy official sends out a distress signal to Xenick, South Olpen, and the WA.

Since that time, several nations have begun to act. Ross has been making use of anti-air missiles to deflect would-be rescue forces and threatened nuclear war if Meretica is not left to handle this issue internally.

The Ukcrossians Thank the Queen and Split up the Battalion into 2 Groups. One is sent toward the Capital in a Convoy of Jeep, Having Unmanned Drones go ahead and make sure there are no threats, The second group Heads to the Silos in offroad jeeps to attempt to take as many as they could.

The MoC summons the Executive Chamber and asks for they're vote to begin taking extremely drastic measures. The MoC announces in a speak that "Meretica will not fall, not to a dictator. We announce support for her majesty the queen. We warn all of the Ross supporters as well as mad senator herself, stand down".

General Hopkins, still in Sinda, East Osovia urges the military to turn against Ross and protect the Queen and technically former Senators at all costs. While a significant portion does this, some completely abandon the army and become deserters. Others continue to support Ross. All told, the so-called Meretican Patriots Army has well over 250,000 immediate supporters, whereas those loyal to the Queen are mostly fighting in guerilla groups-- around 175,000.

OOC: Yes, I realize that these numbers are huge in comparison to what y'all are having to work with. However, when taking into account how many of y'all there are and then noting that most of y'all are with the Queen on this, y'all are barely outnumbered.

Ross begins initiatives to begin taking down former Senators, especially those with anti-Ross tendencies, though those that publicly and openly declare their allegiance are typically left alive (depending on the circumstances). High on the priority list are Michelle Campbell (81) and Phineas Jones (91), a Labour-Liberal and a Royalist respectively. Major leaders within their parties, it is possible that they may prove to be key resistance leaders-- or if they die, martyrs. Also, Ross argues that she is not a dictator because she was democratically elected by the people in a landslide election and has maintained relatively high popularity ratings.

South Olpen decides that drastic times call for drastic measures. The Olpenese National military Forces launch on invasion of Meretica from Sicily, trying to cause as little damage as possible. The Meretican diplomat is made head of the new so called "Second Meretican Government in Exile"Ross supporters are detained and all pro Ross members of town hall are being sent to the courts for sentencing and finding the guilt of the members. Telegrams are being sent to the queen as too how to proceed with any possible invasion. Machine gunners are sent to the riots, and Special Forces are sent to the palace roof to protect her majesty, as well as communicate between Sicily and the Advisory board. The rivers around the palace are blockaded and the bridges leading to the island destroyed with sticky grenades.
