National goalkeeper, Rolf Hydradust, hopes to get into the good books of national football coach Anton Glasstriumph to be the top goalie in the nation’s main eleven football squad. The 29-year-old goalkeeper is now Glasstriumph’s second choice after Glen Greenash did well and displayed consistency in the domestic football league.

Hydradust was benched and was only fielded twice in friendly matches in the games that saw Lathamford wrest for better results in international games. “If I can I would like to be the main goalkeeper in next 8th MAC, he told SportLink here yesterday.

The Dinamo Thetford Super League keeper said despite whatever team spirit was utmost in his mind.

Hydradust and Glen Greenash are now training at Sealock Training Center since last Thursday for the MAC 8th campaign which The Speedy Cat draw to Group A with the host, Sendhang, Libonesia, and another top team, Eraman.

“Just like other players, I also do additional training after training by goalkeeping coach, James Close, to improve to a higher level,” he said.

Asked about the skills of Glen Greenash, he said the Red Star Holyrock Super League keeper was highly confident. “However I always have healthy competition with him and it is good for both of us,” he said. Hydradust was earlier the first choice keeper for Glasstriumph for international friendlies including the match with Hundredstar in July.

His consistency received praise from Glasstriumph and he replaced Otto Baymartin who is now the top goalkeeper for the Lokomotive Featherwood Super League squad.

Dinamo Thetford "The Red Horse"

Dinamo Thetford CEO Lucas Trident is confident that the presence of former Spartak Eaglearm coach Kazlan Springbreaker will be able to boost the performance of ‘The Red Horse' squad to face the Lathamford National League Season 18. He said Springbreaker needed more friendly matches to form the best combination between the players.

"The new coach wants to know the players so I think we give Springbreaker a chance to get to know his players and I see now he is more prepared," he told reporters here, yesterday. Asked about Dinamo Thetford's lackluster performance in several friendly matches, Trident said Dinamo Thetford had not fielded the strongest line-up in previous friendly matches.

“Dinamo Thetford has yet to field our main squad because all main players have been given leave and they have never played again until now. "The last two weeks are very important for Dinamo Thetford to strengthen player compatibility. Therefore, I understand that several friendly matches have been arranged with Red Star Holyrock and a club from abroad to ensure Dinamo Thetford is ready for the first match of the league," he said.

At the same time, he is confident that the presence of several quality new players will be able to strengthen the team's machinery to face the Lathamford National League Season 18 competition. "The combination of Alan Caskwoods, Lathamians international Otto Farrowsteam, and Ken Cinderfeather is forming the backbone of the team for this season," he said.

At a piece of relevant news, ‘The Red Horse’ team made a two-day motivational visit to several interesting rural locations as a step to plan the team's strategy and direction for the Lathamford National League Season 18 competition which will begin in early August. Lokomotive Featherwood FC is taken over by Hundredstarians billionaire Estevon Rubalcaba under his company, Featherwood Sports Networks. He pays eight million Latham Coin for the National League team. On May 21, the eccentric businessman will come to Lokomotive Featherwood to explain his plans. The SPORTLINK has since announced that James Fairweather, CEO of Featherwood Sports Networks, has been appointed as CEO/director of Lokomotive Featherwood. Libonesia scored two goals to beat Lathamford 2-1, putting Lathamian team on the brink of relegation from CMFA Melayu Archipelago Cup 8

Libonesia winger Fuhad Najib scored his goal in the 39th minute before Abdiel Tabungan scored his goal at 44th to ensure Libonesia their Group A rivalry at the top of the table.

"We made a good improvement and we will be ready," said Libonesia midfielder Pono Uwati.

"We received strong support from the fans," said Lathamford coach Anton Glasstriumph. “They inspired us but we could not reach the target to collect at least one point. We are disappointed but I am proud of my team.”

"There's no space, it's a bit difficult for us," Uwati said. Libonesia dropped what is considered their strongest squad so far this tournament, with team captains Samihudin Umbra, Uwati, and Alan Damunga dropped to the starting line-up.

They didn’t take long to threaten the Lathamian goal when Uwati fed the ball to Tabungan but the finisher went wide before a cross was kicked out by the Lathamian defense.

The pace of the game in the first half was a bit slow but Libonesia were always dangerous when in possession of the ball.

To be sure, Libonesia’s goal finally came from an unexpected source, when Nasrifin Ula ’s header from a corner kick hit the crossbar and the bouncing ball found Fuhad Najib head it into the net.

Lathamford had no choice but to find an equalizer and the change of strategy left them caught by a swift attack six minutes before the end of the first half when Tabungan completed a beautiful Uwati pass for the second goal.

Lathamford only goal score by Farrowsteam at 63 minutes.

Eaglearm Youngblood Manager Mikel dos Hartos, who led the Youngblood LAL Season One Championship, is leaving the club after five years. An email was sent to staff informing them of the news at the end of last week, stating that Dos Hartos was leaving for a new challenge.

However, SportLink understands that the owners of Furness Group, which took over in November last year, were the instigators, as they want to take the academy in a new direction and install their own academy boss.

The club is yet to announce a replacement, but Nick Grayward will be a front-runner. The certified LFA coach, who played for Spartak Eaglearm for more than 9 years, has been advising Furness Group in recent months and is a regular visitor to the Spartak Training Centre.

Furness Group spokeswoman, Natalie Cox said: “It has been a privilege to work with Dos Hartos over the past years. He has been central to the work that has been done to strengthen the academy in recent seasons and his unique perspective as a former academy graduate has been a constant reminder to us all to remain committed to the club’s incredible history whilst constantly striving to innovate and improve.

FLASH: Lathamford national coach Anton Glasstriumph resigned on Tuesday after his side were knocked out in the group round of MAC8th when they lost 0-3 to the Eraman. Glasstriumph’s decision comes amid heightened speculation about his future as coach after last Sunday’s 0-3 defeat in Tapaklaboh.

“I decided not to continue my job as a coach. Our target was not achieved, it is very clear,” said Glasstriumph, 51, in a statement issued by the Lathamford football governing body (LFA).

Glasstriumph said when he was appointed coach in 2020, it was an “honor” but he was also “aware of the pressure that came from the moment I was appointed”.

"The pressure is mounting now, and it's also not a healthy situation for me or for the squad ahead of an important match for Lathamford football for the others campaign." The LFA said in any case, Glasstriumph’s contract clarified that the team should have advanced at least to the quarterfinals and added that “his contract will not be renewed” if targets are not met.

"It has been decided that the two sides will split," the LFA added.

"Despite Anton's efforts, the team did not advance to the quarterfinals. We were expecting a better performance at the MAC and the selection of Anton (as coach), did not achieve what we had hoped for before,” said LFA president, Dr. Oscar von Cassbailey

Pedro Menendez-Sutra d'Ame

, or better known as Pedro Menendez, has been confirmed as Lathamford National team head coach and has been entrusted with the task of bringing Lathamford out of the football wilderness.

Pedro Menendez-Sutra d'Ame was a player-manager in one of the regional leagues before he was noticed by the Brisara FC. He took charge of the Hammers on a one-year tryout and promptly led them to the Red League, where they stayed for five seasons. His best season in the Red League was the initial year where they surprised everyone by finishing fourth; afterward, they were a consistent midtable team that didn't dip below thirteenth. In the most recent season, though, they slipped up at the last few matchdays and ended up relegated in fifteenth place.

As a Manager, he's more of a player's manager who looks to foster relationships and get everyone to play at their highest level. He prefers having active wingers and a striker who predominantly plays in front of everyone else, and his system also relies on having very active defensive backs. He also won a third-place for the Manager of the Year award while managing Brisara FC in Rainbow League System Season Two, and five in Rainbow League System Season Five. He is also known as the youngest manager in the league.

Pedro Menendez and, hopefully, enjoy newfound success,” said Lathamford Football Association (LFA) president Dr. Oscar von Cassbailey.

"After having seen numerous coaches, both local and foreign, doing their stuff, my gut instinct tells me that Pedro Menendez is the right man for the job. I may be wrong but only time will tell," added Dr. von Cassbailey.

Matchday 18 report: Tractor Grasswind FC 0–1 Royal Farrowdraft FC
ROYAL FARROWDRAFT confirmed its status as the Lathamford National League Season 18 champion after beating Tractor Grasswind 1-0 at the Milkygrave Lane last night. The success thus recorded its own history for the Red Horses squad which was crowned as the Lathamford National League champions for the fourth time.

ROYAL FARROWDRAFT started fiercely as soon as the starting whistle blew through a streamlined attack into the home side's goal in an effort to open the scoring. However, their efforts only paid off in the 38th minute through the goal of an imported star, André-Hercule Sireu easily pushed in the ball from Sebastian du Graypelt's beautiful pass. The goal was seen to give a boost to the visitors to return to organize the attack to add goals.

The goal fueled the spirit of the ROYAL FARROWDRAFT squad to push for the Tractor Grasswind goal but failed to get past the Tractor squad's fortification apart from seeing several attempts made fail to meet the target.

At the end of the first half, Tractor Grasswind almost equalized, but the header of the import player, Kevin Vahlidal who went up to help the home side's attacking machinery was slightly off target.

Both teams were seen doubling each other's efforts to add goals in the second half, but the attempts made failed to meet the target. No goals were scored until the final whistle, thus confirming ROYAL FARROWDRAFT as the Lathamford National League champions for season 18.

Lathamford Football Association

After nearly 17 seasons of Lathamford football, the 18th season saw the Lathamford Football Association (LFA) deliver on its promise and successfully create a 4-tier football competition in Lathamford. If previously Lathamford National League alone topped the football arena, starting this season, three more leagues besides the Ardington & Lockinge Cup namely; Lathamford Nationwide League, Lathamford Union League, and Windforth Brewery League. The second thing that is successfully done is, teams in the Lathamford National League will be relegated to the lower leagues if in the last position, while teams in the lower leagues have the opportunity to climb the ladder to the top leagues and will also be relegated to the lower leagues if less successful.

With the existence of this 4-tier league, more Lathamford football clubs can be sent to the tournament organized by The International Federation of Club Football (IFCF), if before they could only compete in the Champions 'League and Challengers' Cup, now they can also compete in the League B Champions 'Trophy in addition to the Rising Stars' Cup. The choice of professional players has also increased, for the imported players, their team has to compete in Lathamford National League to qualify them to take imported players (max 3 players)

The format of the Ardington & Lockinge Cup has also been changed starting this season with 32 teams from all four leagues where 10 Lathamford National League teams, 8 from Lathamford Nationwide League, 7 from Lathamford Union League, and 7 from Windforth Brewery League will compete in the knockout stages. Only one leg has competed and it will last into extra time and also a penalty kick to get the winner.

Lathamford Football Association President, Dr. Oscar von Cassbailey, in his speech, while inaugurating the new format of the Lathamford Football League, said the failure of the national team during CMFA Melayu Archipelago Cup 8 (MAC8) was used as a lesson to further strengthen the Lathamford football format by giving as many players as possible the opportunity to showcase their talents and then the best to represent the national team.
