ARMITAGE ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR 2022

Image
Representative Sabine Armitage (BCP) announces her candidacy for President in 2022.

PROVIDENCE - Representative Sabine Armitage announced her candidacy for President of Zamastan in the 2022 election cycle, becoming the second major-political individual to do so. In her fiery speech, she rallied the crowd, stating "it is time that we go back to the roots of our great nation, working to boost our economy, serve our people, protect our interests, and lead the world everywhere we go."

Sabine Deleaux Armitage is a Zamastanian politician serving as the junior congresswoman from Northern Isle Province's 7th district, a seat she was elected to in 2016. She is a member of the Blue Conservative Party, and was a mainline a candidate for President of Zamastan in the 2020 Zamastan presidential election, seeking to replace Foley Sakzi who was not seeking a second term reelection. She lost the race to former-Governor of Alutia and now-President Atticus Moreau. However, she succeeded in gaining 108 votes to Moreau's 139, with many experts citing Cain Blackwater's achieving of 80 votes as a key reason for her loss. It is unknown whether Cain Blackwater will run in 2022, but he has previously stated he has no intention to run again.

Armitage drew national recognition when she won the Blue Conservative Party's primary election for the Northern Isle's 7th congressional district on June 4th, 2016. She defeated BCP Caucus Chair Randen Abotsford, a 7-term incumbent, in what was widely seen as the biggest upset victory in the 2016 election primaries. She went on to win the district's seat in the 2016 general election. Armitage majored in international relations and economics at the University of Tofino, graduating cum laude in 2010.

She was previously an activist and worked part-time as a waitress, bartender, and fast-food employee before running for Congress in 2016. She is one of only 13 congresswomen among the 202 BCP lawmakers currently in the Congress and one of 54 women among 421 lawmakers in Congressional Hall as a whole. Despite her position in the Blue Conservative Party, she has been described by many experts as a moderate who leans into social liberalism and fiscal conservative policies.

Already in the race is Brendan Dennadeer, the de-facto leader of the 2018-19 PoverTea Movement. Dennadeer, 60, is known for his activist work in lowering the influence of corporations in the political process. During the course of the protests, specifically in 2019, he delivered a speech in which he said "corporations sit back and drink their tea while the rest of us sit in poverty," coining the popularly used phrase of the movement. Dennadeer was arrested twice during the course of the 10 month-long protests.

MOREAU MEETS WITH OUSTED-BARANGADESH PRESIDENT SABREEN JAFRI

Image
Sabreen Jafri was ousted from the Presidency of Barangadesh in a 2003 coup.

TOFINO - President Atticus Moreau made a dangerous and risky political move by meeting with the former-President of Barangadesh, Sabreen Jafri, in Tofino on Monday. At a conference for young leaders, Moreau paid a visit to keynote speakers, including former-President Jafri, who was ousted from power in a 2003 coup. She fleed Daccas following her ousting and was granted asylum in Zamastan. Since then, the Barangadesh-Zamastan relationship had been teetering, but this unplanned meeting may throw the tensions cold once more. President Moreau shook former-President Jafri's hand, talked with her for a few minutes, and then left to meet with other speakers. The interaction, which was unplanned according to aides for the President, sent Barangadeshi politicians into a tirade, with their National Assembly voting narrowly to condemn Moreau for "conspiring with a toppled traitor".

Zamastanian and Barangadeshi foreign relations have never been stable comparative to most nations in the North Ausiana region in the past half century. Beyond being engaged in occassional combat during the World War (1949-54), Zamastan and Barangadesh tensions have waved inconsistently from bad to teetering on conflict. On April 4, 1976, a group of Barangadeshi seperatists and terrorists took over the Zamastanian Embassy in Daccas. The attackers were in support of the Barangadeshi Nationalist Alliance, which wanted to separate the southern half of the country to become independent. 83 diplomats and citizens were held hostage, with three being executed, for the next 56 days until they were finally freed after a joint Zamastan-Barangadesh operation killed the terrorists on May 30th.

A month into the affair, then-President Elene Abotsford stated her commitment to resolving the dispute without "any military action that would cause bloodshed or arouse the unstable captors of our hostages to attack them or to punish them". On April 21, 1976, Abotsford ordered Operation Osprey Talon to try to free the hostages. The mission failed, leaving six Zamastanian servicemen dead and causing the destruction of two aircraft. The ill-fated rescue attempt led to the self-imposed resignation of Zamastanian Secretary of State Marc-Antoine Dutoit, who had been opposed to the mission from the beginning.

In 2003, the same Barangadeshi Nationalist Alliance siezed power in the coup that toppled President Jafri. Fleeing from the capital of Daccas and residing for a time in Shoassau, she was ultimately granted asylum by then-President Cassious Castovia. Intensive trade and economic relations between Zamastan and Barangadesh has continued largely unabrupted despite the chaotic back and forths, with Barangadesh being the location of many outsourced Zamastanian manufacturing operations.

Crozier Returns to Qualify for Rio Palito Grand Prix

Image
The 2020 Rio Palito Grand Prix. Arnaud Crozier (51) will head the Zamastan team in the second start with Timothee Snowden (4) qualified in 8th position.

SAN BEAUSOLEIL - Two Zamastanian drivers have qualified for starting positions in the upcoming Rio Palito Grand Prix. The highly decorated Arnaud Crozier, who missed two seasons of racing due to an injury from a 2018 crash, will make his comeback showing in the June 24th race. He is driving under his famous 51 number, and is sponsoring ZSuites & Foresster on his car. Crozier placed second overall in the qualifying placement rounds with a time of 10:01:45, narrowly outscored by barely two seconds by Versenia's Raymundo Ribeiro (9:59:32). A second driver, Timothee Snowden, is starting in 8th place under his number 4 Pegassi sponsored car.

Zamastanian drivers have performed well in previous Rio Palito Grand Prix's, but only once has a Zamastanian won the prestigious event (Percy Mentapier in 1971). Arnaud Crozier has thrice placed in the top three finishing racers, and many experts believe he is Zamastan's best chance at claiming a victory after 50 years.

Crozier is Zamastan's most decorated Formula driver, having placed highly in the Rio Palito Grand Prix on multiple occasions, but also having won other Grand Prix races such as the 2014 and 2016 Staventer Grand Prix's, the 2016 Vessalia, the 2016 Bettencourt and the 2017 Selleaux. He was infamously injured in a 2018 crash during the 2018 Staventer Grand Prix, which killed another driver (Elbresia's Kocsis Alexander). Crozier had emergency surgery on both of his legs and his right arm, with fears arising that he would need an amputation with the severity of the crash. However, he recovered, returning to last month's Helniemi Prix in Caspiaa and securing a second place spot.

Timerian F1 Driver Speaks Out

June 21st, 2021 | Infinity, Timeria

Yesterday Timerian driver Ana Rivera spoke out against the mayor and city council of Palm City. Rivera will be representing Timeria this week at the Rio Palito Grand Prix. She had a lot to say following questions about how she started driving. When asked about her upbringing Rivera stated that “I’ve always been surrounded by cars and car culture my whole life. My dad owned a shop in Palm City but it was torn down a few years ago after new zoning.” Palm City has been undergoing a lot of development as the city experiences a surge in population. Palm City has been at the focal point of Timeria’s housing market rush. Rivera stated that “Mayor Terrance Foster shows no concern for the people that grew up in Palm City… Car culture makes up the fabric of the city and he wants to exploit it. They will ban car modification and then give permits to movie companies to portray the people that are a part of this culture.” Rivera was speaking in reference to the recent ban on muffler modification. Rivera also stated that “City council continues to ignore issues within the inner city to push forward with CDG’s plans for the city.”

Since 1923 Palm City has been seen as the center of car culture in Timeria. When the Typhoon Automotive plant opened in Palm City other automotive companies moved into the city and the urban area grew. Within the city, a strong car culture grew beginning in the 1940s with the kids of those who worked at these plants. In the early 2000s, many of these plants closed or laid-off workers due to automation and factories moving overseas. This led to a dramatic drop in population and property value. Around the year 2016, the Ceres Development Group moved its headquarters to Palm City and started development projects across the city. The city started to see a change and experience extreme levels of gentrification. While the boost in money in the city was welcomed many issues have come along with it.

Rivera has also spoken out about the issue in Palm City and now has an international platform. Despite this Rivera plans to represent Timeria to the fullest she stated that “I want to be a role model for those kids in Palm City driving their project cars and going to meets every weekend… You’re important and Palm City would not be what it is without you.”

Rivera will be sponsored by Tiger and the upcoming launch of their TigerTab 4 in August. Rivera will also have number 35 on her vehicle in honor of her father who passed away at age 35.

Forces Complete Withdrawal From Jiddiya
Troops had been deployed in Saudi Jiddiya to assist the government's fight against Al-Fijar affiliated insurgents

Emmirian troops march in formation before departing Jiddiya City on June 22nd, 2021

RHAGA - After over a year of deployment, Emmirian troops are returning from Saudi Jiddiya. Deployed in April of 2020 to help the Jiddiyan government fight a swath of insurgents affiliated with the terrorist group Al-Fijar, the deployment was alongside a coalition of Alcarres and Mulfuliran forces.

President Sulaiman, who inherited the deployment from his predecessor President Khayahad al-Azari, promised in March to bring all 18,000 troops home.

"Our brave men in uniform have put their lives on the line to protect our nation, our allies, and our friends," Sulaiman said in an address to the nation. "We owe them a great debt of gratitude upon arrival."

During the year long deployment, 203 soldiers were killed, mostly in urban fighting and IED explosions. Around November, the conflict had slowed and the Al-Fijar affiliated group had largely ceased operations. By January, al-Azari said that they were entirely "defeated and eradicated."

Emmirian forces had not seen active duty in 15 years, since the conclusion of the Second Vulkaria War. During the course of that 5 and a half year long conflict, 2,502 Emmirians were killed and more than 9,000 wounded in a Coalition of Crown Albatross sponsored intervention, which also saw thousands more Zamastanian, Cadairian, and Austrolis I forces killed.

SAINT CROIX JOURNAL
Urskabau Addresses Varzo Attack in Rare Show of Support to Alecburgh Government
Five people were killed in a stabbing at a church in Venice, including the attacker

Image
Police cordon off Saint Aleister Church in Venice, Varzo, Alecburgh, after a terror attack left four people dead

Saint Elmenau - President Urskabau, in a rare statement of support, addressed the recent bombing in Alecburgh with no warning to possible military retaliation by the Sparrow administration. Speaking in an address to both the Saint Croix and Bens public and as a transmission to the Alecburghian government, Urskabau stated "Alecburgh has been riddled with malicious attacks from individuals with monstrous intent. The taking of innocent life is something we strongly object and will vehemently oppose. Our differences with the Alecburghian government and past rhetoric has no barring on the threat of terrorism, and we stand by our neighbors as a moral stance."

Following Prime Minister Sparrow Creed's public declaration several days ago that the Mandalayan corridor would not be ceded to the self-declared Cambrian Republic, the de-facto President of Cambria, Boudreaux, ordered an insurgent to target Saint Aleister Church in the small tourist town of Venice, in the state of Varzo. Four people were fatally stabbed before the attacker took his own life.

Urskabau went on to say that, if provoked, Saint Croix and Bens would continue to exercise the right to defend its sovereignty, but said it will not stand in the way of Alecburgian military operations against the self-declared Republic of Cambria.

"Our stance, the stance of the Saint Croix and Bens government, is the hope of a peaceful resolution. We recognize, however, that the terrorists of Cambria have been offered peace and continue their violent renegade war. We will defend our interests as the people of Saint Croix and Bens, but we will also acknowledge and allow Alecburgh to do the same with theirs."

Last month, the President ordered the six ship fleet of the Saint Croix and Bens Navy that was deployed in April in the wake of escalating tensions in South Adula to return to port. The SCB fleet, led by the flagship destroyer CBMV Belia, had been conducting maneuvers for the past month alongside the Zamastanian ship ZMS Artega, Albarinean vessel ANV Auerbach, and the Emmirian vessel ENVS Makhat in waters restricted to Saint Croix and Bens. At the closest, the fleet came no closer to the shore than 50 kilometers off the coast of Kalkvia and Varzo in Alecburgh.

The drills acted as a "protectionary measure," according to President Urskabau, as Alecburgh's Prime Minister, Sparrow Creed, stepped up her rhetoric against the self-declared Republic of Cambria and was prepping for a military operation against the region. However, more than three months into the chaos, no military operations against Cambria have ensued despite continued terror attacks committed by their insurgents. Dozens of Alecburghian citizens have been killed in attacks attributed to the Cambrian resistance movement, as well as a bombing last month in Cyruda that killed 7.

The increased militarization in the region initially prompted widespread condemnation by international powers, despite near universal calls for Sparrow to step down her military positioning. Emmiria has since withdrawn their military ship from Beresa, but Zamastanian and Albarinean forces will remain in Beresa for an extended amount of time. President William Urskabau thanked President Moreau (Zamastan), President Sulaiman (Emmiria), and Chancellor Melhaven (Albarine) for standing with the SCB government.

"We thank our allies for their devotion to the preservation of peace and protection of the innocent," Urskabau said. "While we understand the effort that they've endured in their deployment, we cannot express the gratitude to which the people of Saint Croix and Bens hold towards the WEDA organization and its prowess."

Despite continued attacks by Cambrian terrorists, the threat of PM Sparrow's use of military action against them has become "increasingly unlikely", according to intelligence reports. There is speculation that the growing presence of international opinion on the Cambrian movement, as well as the recent events surrounding the ceasefire in Birat, which has distracted further chaos in the South Adula region. SCB government sources continue to maintain that the Alecburgh military should not strike Cambria, but also continue to condemn the Cambrian insurgents who have committed atrocities.

Moong Levels Support for Alecburgh Government Following Increased Attacks, Lays Forward Plan For Future Regional Investment

Siniapore's President Tee Hsien Moong stated in an address to Parliament that the Siniapore government should back the Alecburghian efforts to curb terror attacks by the self-declared Cambrian Republic. In a violent attack on Tuesday, four people were killed when an insurgent sponsored by the Cambrian de-facto leadership entered a church and began stabbing. The terrorist took his own life when police closed in.

"The people of Alecburgh deserve to live in safety, without fear," said Moong. "Siniapore stands with the people of Alecburgh in their strive against terrorism and oppression. We hope that the Alecburghian government and Prime Minister Creed are able to resolve this situation through peaceful means, but we will stand with them through more retaliatory response. Continued threats by terrorists cannot be met with idle tone; it must be met with equal and greater strength."

Alecburgh has seen an uptick in violence as the secessionist state seeks to gain more territorial grants as Prime Minister Sparrow Creed tries to balance public safety, possible military response, an unpopular government, and mistrust among the Alecburghian public. A tumultuous past several months in Alecburgh has seen massive demonstrations and crackdowns on freedom of expression, which culminated in an emergency election that ushered Creed into office. Demonstrations against Creed's government have been rare comparative to the administration of her predecessor, but it is clear that opinion of the Alecburghian government is divided.

The Siniapore Parliament passed a resolution promising to harbor Alecburghians seeking asylum originating from Cambria, should they seek such refuge in Siniapore. Global involvement has spurred the threat of an expanding conflict, with De Yuan and Cyruda directly aligning themselves with Alecburgh militarily, several nations endorsing Cambrian independence, and other nations like the WEDA organization sitting with relative neutrality in support of regional allies in the Croix Sea region.

Image
President Tee Hsien Moong delivers an address to Parliament supporting the Alecburghian government on 6/23/21

Alecburgh and Siniapore have diplomatic ties and a trade network, though are not considered close allies. However, Moong's administration has incentivized closer cooperation with nations in South Adula, which has drawn criticism from some experts who point to the divided nature of geopolitics in the region. The Southeastern region of Adula in particular is fraught with constant tensions, military standoffs and strong-arming, and wars of words over trade, policy, and international relations. Clear divides have been drawn between national affiliation, with most nations cornering themselves alongside either Zamastan or De Yuan, with others leaning to third parties such as Drambenburg, North Timeria, and Alecburgh's own SEIAA organization.

Siniapore interests in the region increased dramatically with their role in moderating the Qolaysia-Togaria Peace Talks in Buena Vera, Artegana, in March of 2021. Siniapore shipping networks, which alone account for more than a quarter of Siniapore's whole economy, are extensively expanding throughout South Adula. Seeing expanded interest and investment by Siniapore in infrastructure is key to Moong's plan of integrating Siniapore further on the world stage. Siniapore shipbuilding, among the largest sectors in the world, accounts for 10% of container ship origin internationally, and companies with external headquarters in Albarine, Saint Croix and Bens, and Qolaysia have high demand for a peaceful region: ease of trade is vital.

Djurna Wins Rio Palito Grand Prix

Caspiaan Formula car racer Bjoren Djurna has won the 2021 Rio Palito Grand Prix, clenching a last minute lead over Zamastanian hopeful Arnaud Crozier and crossing the line in the lead on the 78th lap for the win.

Djurna passed Crozier with 1.2 seconds above him. This is Djurna's first ever win in a Grand Prix showing.

The race began with Raymundo Ribeiro in a lead in front of the entire 20-car pack, passed halfway through the first lap by Arnaud Crozier. On lap 5, Alex Spalding took a lead passing both Ribeiro and Crozier, but that lead dropped back to third when the two passed Spalding in lap 7.

On lap 21, Micael Dantas and Shakeel Ozer crashed in positions 10 and 11 respectively, and their cars were damaged beyond repair to continue the race. The crash delayed many of the drivers who were behind it at the time, and the race had to slow to allow crews to remove debris. Djurna was able to advance up to 7th with the confusion following the crash.

For the remainder of the race, it was essentially a four-way head by Ribeiro, Crozier, Spalding, and Djurna. However, in lap 76, Rebeiro was maneuvered out of third position and down to eighth after being passed in the tunnel by Timothee Snowden, Albino Teixeira, and Chris Pernickel.

At the close of lap 78, Djurna passed Crozier and narrowly crossed the line, winning the race by -1.2 seconds.

WARNING RAISED FOR TRAVEL TO SOUTH ADULA

Image
A plane flying to Kynnport was diverted to Saint Elmenau, SCB, on Sunday

CONSTANTIOPOLIS, CONSTANTIO- President Tony Blanian is issuing a warning to Constantio travelers and commerce organizations in Southern Adula after a clash between Alecburghian forces and Cambrian separatists left nearly two dozen dead in the Naduz Bluffs. The territory is disputed between the government of Alecburghian PM Sparrow Creed and the self-declared Republic of Cambria after months of tensions and escalating terror attacks. This is the most intensive clash between armed forces and the Cambrian separatists since the independence secession began in March of this year.

President Blanian reiterated his support for the Alecburghian government, but pressed for peace and urged both sides to step down.

"The best way to ensure a peaceful resolution to this crisis is for both sides to recognize the sanctity of human life for the preservation of your interests," Blanian said. "Terrorism, clashes, indiscriminate attacks, this is not the way to achieve a well-recognized international response."

Warning travelers against going to Southern Adula, the most recent in a series of warnings in the past year, several flights to Alecburgh were diverted to nearby nations such as Cyruda and Saint Croix and Bens. A KaraAir flight landed in Saint Elmenau, SCB, with tourists being reimbursed for their tickets and being put on a flight back to Constantio or other preferred destinations.

"We were looking forward to a trip in Alecburgh," said Miriam Fansale, a tourist from Norasa. "We don't feel safe going anymore, though. Bombings, stabbings, it's a mess. Tourists have been hurt before, but now it's getting worse. We don't want to risk it."

Batemara Reiterates Support for Alecburgh
Batemara is increasing military aid to Alecburgh after weeks of attacks

President Guiler Batemara reiterated Cyruda's support for Alecburgh following one of the deadliest clashes between government and separatist Cambrian forces in months. With increased rates of terror attacks against soft civilian targets, such as a church in Varzo on Tuesday, June 22nd, Cyrudan politicians in support of Prime Minister Creed have called for more military support for Alecburgh. 2,000 troops are already deployed in Alecburgh to help moderate the threat of terror attacks from the Cambrian separatist groups.

"Alecburgh is our ally and we will continue to help defend their lands and people," Batemara said. A detachment of Alecburghian troops was ambushed on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers. 17 terrorists were killed during the firefight, which saw Cambrian forces retreating from their position. However, the threat of further clashes remains.

The attack, which was highly organized as a military combat operation more so than a terrorist attack, marks the first time Alecburghian forces have been directly attacked since the tensions began earlier this year. Prime Minister Creed has vowed to end the violence by any means necessary, and President Batemara is standing by her.

Image

Cyruda's National Assembly approved a troop surge of 1,000 to mobilize following the attack, increasing the total troop numbers in Alecburgh to just under 3,000.

"We are ready to do whatever needs to be done to stop these terrorist killers," Batemara said. "Our capabilities are more than a match for insurgents with no training. We will hit them back with everything we have."

THE ACADRE TRIBUNE
PARABOCA 2021 - ELECTION RESULTS - INDEPENDENTS SWEEP, PREPARATIONS FOR NEW CONSTITUTION
Image
The skyline of Cardoza on 6/27/2021. Paraboca elected delegates to draft a new constitution — and it’s not tilted toward the elites

For the fourth time in its 110-year federation history, Paraboca has elected an assembly to draft a new constitution — the result of a political crisis that began with social unrest in October 2018. The mid-May election for delegates to the constitutional assembly had some surprising results. Unlike in every election since Jamie Bolivar’s dictatorship ended in 1959, Parabocan political parties suffered a big blow: 40 percent of the votes went to independent candidates.

How did that happen? The Parabocan ruling elite is mostly made up of a small group of wealthy, privately educated men. But the unrest forced elites to agree to a different system for electing a game-changing constitutional assembly that is gender-equal, includes Indigenous representatives and is dominated by independents who competed in lists issued by social movements and local activist networks. In doing so, citizens have defeated the traditional center-right and social democratic parties, long dominated by elites, which have shared power for 30 years.

Paraboca's new constitutional assembly, charged with rewriting its political system, is markedly left-wing.

As hundreds of thousands of people protested on the streets in October and November 2018, Paraboca's party elites agreed to an innovative process for writing a new constitution. In a national referendum in October 2020, Paraboca's voters overwhelmingly approved a system in which voting to have a constitutional convention would draft a new constitution. On May 15 and 16, citizens elected delegates to that assembly.

In keeping with the promises made in the fall of 2019, the process included three innovations to boost the assembly’s legitimacy and representation. First, 17 of 155 seats were reserved for Indigenous people, elected by Indigenous citizens, allocated based on various Indigenous groups’ populations. That matters because Indigenous people have long been marginalized from national politics and decision-making. These seats were expected to bring a bloc, however small, of nonelite representatives.

Second, the new system allowed candidates or organizations that were not political parties to form electoral lists designed to attract votes for an entire slate. In Paraboca, citizens have strong negative party identities. In other words, it is more likely for people to identify which parties they dislike than the parties they like.

This rule was included with the goal of legitimizing the assembly in the eyes of those who saw the parties as corrupt vehicles for the elites. Allowing ordinary people, social movements and community organizations to compete in lists was intended to bring fresh air to the representative body.

Third, the system mandated gender parity in both candidacies and results. Many Euronian countries started using legislative gender quotas in 1991, but Paraboca didn’t introduce them until 2017. That innovation only increased women’s representation in Congress from 16 to 23 percent, well below the region’s average of 30 percent.

Disappointed feminist activists and academics were determined not to let that happen again and lobbied to change the rules for the constitutional assembly. They designed a new electoral system that required gender parity within electoral lists and in the final composition of the assembly. All lists had to be headed by women and include an equal number of female and male candidates. Then, after the seats were allocated for each list, the system corrected for any gender imbalances at the district level, adding or taking out candidates to achieve a share of each gender as close as 50 percent. As a result, the assembly has 77 female delegates and 78 male delegates.

These institutional changes forced parties and other political organizations to recruit candidates from outside the usual male-centered, wealthy networks.

Many Parabocans have been angry about the country’s increasing elitism. As economists have shown, attending a select group of private high schools results in almost exclusive access to top corporate jobs. The makeup of the political class is not much different. But given the assembly election system, only 27 percent of the constitutional convention’s delegates went to a private school, and only a handful come from those schools identified as gatekeepers to wealth and power in Paraboca.

Juan Yuroa, chair of the Confederación de la Producción y el Comercio, the most powerful business organization in Paraboca, declared shortly after the election that the organization didn’t know these independent assembly members, showing that elites are quite disconnected from community life. Earlier in the year, a study by Paraboca's Center for the Study of Conflict and Social Cohesion showed that Paraboca's business elites were more conservative, while political elites are more polarized than the broader population.

Anti-elite sentiment may be common in Central Euronian politics, but it is new in Paraboca. For years, the country has had an institutionalized party system and a close-knit elite. Social hierarchies and authoritarian attitudes prevailed in society. After the 2018 social unrest, the prominent Parabocan think tank Centro de Estudios Públicos conducted a study in which 50 percent of respondents agreed that Paraboca needed a strong leader “with the determination to lead us on the right path.”

No such populist leader has emerged to capitalize on the social malaise. During the peak of protests in 2018 amid violence and riots, observers showed concern that the ground was fertile for the emergence of a populist outsider, following the tradition of Euronian political scenes, such as Zacharias Castovia's election in Zamastan in 2016. But social movements and community organizations seem to be stepping up to take advantage of Paraboca's party de-alignment.

This suggests that the writing of Paraboca's new constitution will follow a different path from that of other Euronian constitutional assemblies, in which populist — often authoritarian — rulers controlled most of the seats. In West Chanchajilla and Birat, these assemblies ended up enacting new constitutions that included a long list of social, individual and groups rights — but that concentrated power in the executive. So far, the Parabocan process hints at a different outcome, one that delivers both rights and power-sharing institutions. The first step came when citizens demanded, almost by force, that elites hand off power to the people.

TWO KILLED, DOZENS INJURED IN TOFINO SHOOTING

Image
Police respond to a mass shooting at Ueatere, a restaurant in Kingston, Tofino.

TOFINO - Two people have been killed and 18 have been injured in a shooting in downtown Tofino, near Congressional Hall and the Zian Presidential Mansion, leading to a temporary lockdown. Police say that a man with an assault rifle opened fire at an upscale restaurant in the Kingston district, about 6 blocks from the Congressional Hall building, and fired indiscriminately at the occupants of the restaurant. The suspect was subsequently shot and taken into custody by responding officers.

Authorities say that they do not suspect terrorism as a motive in the attack, which had been originally reported by several news outlets.

The Tofino Times confirmed that the suspect's identity is 34-year-old George Talman of Tirzah, who had previously been arrested for armed robbery and assault.

The two deceased victims in the shooting are Franklin Demena (45), and Pricilla Easa (28). The names of those who were wounded in the attack are being withheld for their privacy, but their families have all been notified. At least 6 people remain in critical condition following the shooting, with all 18 injured individuals having been brought to nearby hospitals. Mayor of Tofino Bryan Donaldson visited the site of the shooting and gave his condolences to the victims.

The shooting occured at Ueatere, a five-star restaurant notable for its frequency of high-profile guests such as celebrities and politicians. It is also frequented by international diplomats. President Moreau and his family ate at the restaurant last week, where security had to form a barrier outside the restaurant as environmental protestors gathered to demonstrate against the President's pro-oil policies. The shooter in today's attack is not suspected of being connected to that demonstration.

STATE DEPARTMENT BACKS ALECBURGH FOR THE FIRST TIME, BUT URGES CALM AND WARNS TRAVELERS

Image
Alecburghian forces retaliate against an ambush by Cambrian-affiliated insurgents on June 26th. Three Alecburghian troops were killed; 17 insurgents were also killed.

TOFINO - The Zamastanian State Department has issued its first public statement officially supporting the government of Alecburgh after months of back and forth, wars of words, and escalating tensions. Secretary of State Jessiah Vallotis, in an address, stated that the "government of Zamastan supports Prime Minister Sparrow Creed, the people of Alecburgh, and our allies in Southern Adula against the vehement violence perpetrated by the self-declared Republic of Cambria."

Vallotis, while backing the Alecburghians, still reiterated the Zamastanian government's ideal pursuit of peace through diplomacy, but highlighted the difficulty in doing so.

"We would like to see all of this chaos be resolved in the most peaceful way possible," Vallotis said, "but our government recognizes that strides for diplomacy have occured and have been ignored or abused by the de-facto Cambrian government."

The past several months have seen a dramatic escalation of tensions between Alecburgh's government and the secessionist forces of Cambria. After declaring independence, a wave of terror attacks struck Alecburgh in primarily civilian targets. In the most recent attack against civilians, four people were killed when an insurgent entered Saint Aleister Church in Venice, Varzo state, and began stabbing worshipers. The city of Venice is frequented by tourists, both domestic and international, who have become victims alongside the Alecburghian citizens. An attack against a bus in May left over 40 people dead, including three Quetanan tourists.

On Saturday, a squad of Alecburgian troops operating in disputed areas near Cambria were ambushed by dozens of Cambrian-affiliated fighters, resulting in a brutal firefight that left three Alecburghian troops dead. Seventeen Cambrian insurgents were also killed before the attackers retreated, but the event marked the first direct clash between Alecburgh's fledgling military and the rebel forces.

Sparrow Creed, the Prime Minister of Alecburgh, has stated that she will respond forcefully if the attacks continue, and following Saturday's ambush it seems increasingly likely that a wider military operation will occur. Alecburgh has the direct military backing of Cyruda, who has deployed 3,000 troops at the behest of President Guilar Batemara, and De Yuan, who sent naval detachments into the region. Zamastan's government has warned against increased presence of Yuan military forces in the region, and had responded with a three-ship deployment to regional ally Saint Croix and Bens.

Creed had been highly criticized for her response to the crisis initially, having resorted to building a military response rather than a diplomatic one. International pressure placed her government in a difficult spot, which the State Department now admits. By the time Creed and her government finally resorted to diplomacy, the Cambrian government had already achieved much of its original goals. Now, invigorated by an initially lax response, the Cambrians are more volatile and on the offensive, releasing a new wave of attacks.

President Moreau reportedly spoke to PM Creed, sending assurance that Zamastan will stand against terrorism, but will not directly contribute forms of military aid to the Alecburghian government. However, should the crisis unfold further and expand to regional allies such as SCB and Qolaysia, Zamastan's response may be harsher according to experts.

Crozier's Grand Prix Hope Dashed at Finish Line

Image
Arnaud Crozier (51) placed second in a close finish at the end of the Rio Palito Grand Prix, narrowly beat by Djurna

SAN BEAUSOLEIL - Arnaud Crozier, hoping to claim Zamastan's first Rio Palito Grand Prix title in 50 years, lost by 1.2 seconds to Caspiaa's Bjoren Djurna in a climactic end to the prestigious event. Racing in his black number 51 car, Crozier had held the lead for a solid portion of the race's stretch before being passed in the final moments of the last lap, allowing for Djurna to achieve a pass and cross the line first.

Two Zamastanian drivers had qualified for starting positions in the 2021 Rio Palito Grand Prix. The highly decorated Arnaud Crozier, who missed two seasons of racing due to an injury from a 2018 crash, made his comeback showing in the June 24th race. He was sponsoring ZSuites & Foresster on his car. Crozier placed second overall in the qualifying placement rounds with a time of 10:01:45, narrowly outscored by barely two seconds by Versenia's Raymundo Ribeiro (9:59:32). A second driver, Timothee Snowden, started in 8th place under his number 4 Pegassi sponsored car. Snowden placed 5th overall in the race.

RHAGA TRIBUNE
SULAIMAN MAKES VISIT TO VITOSIUM
This marks the first visit to Vitosium by an Emmirian President

Image
Sulaiman arrives in Gatovita, Vitosium, on Monday, June 28th, 2021

GATOVITA - President Akram Sulaiman became the first sitting President of Emmiria to visit Vitosium, marking an important step in the two nations becoming closer allies despite their cooperation in many international organizations. Vitosium and Emmiria are both members of TAFCA, an economic cooperative alliance on the continent of Adula that sees free trade networks interconnect many nations in the region, as well as both being members of WEDA, a military alliance. Despite the two nations being close in international affairs, their domestic affairs have largely been separate.

Sulaiman met with Prime Minister Vincent Gatostico in the capital of Gatovita, where the two discussed economic cooperation and the construction of new oil pipelines connecting Emmiria's vast natural gas fields to Vitosium's world renowned ports. Additionally, the two countries will work to continue their cooperation in TAFCA and WEDA, with joint military exercises with the organization's two newest members; Sulifa and Andaluni, planned for next week off the coast of Vitosium and in the highlands of Andaluni.

The reason for the long historical delay in an Emmirian head of state visiting Vitosium largely lays in their opposite cultures. Emmiria is largely a traditional Islamic culture, leaning heavily on conservative conduct. While Emmiria has liberalized in the past two decades, with freedoms for women significantly increasing and civil rights being heralded internationally for their advancements, they still hold a strong root to the traditional Muslim values. Meanwhile, Vitosium is one of the most liberal nations in the Coalition of Crown Albatross, being ranked by many as one of the most secular states. The clashing cultures have largely kept the two nations at an arms-length distance while still being extremely cooperative, while experts point to the fact Emmiria and Zamastan, another liberal nation in comparison to Emmiria, are extremely close allies.

Sulaiman spoke at an event honoring Vitosium participants in the World War, and remarked on the growing friendship between the two nations, saying "Vitosium and Emmiria are the two powerhouses of the Eastern Adulan continent. Our partnership has ensured strong military, economic, and political connections through this region, and we hope to continue our good relationships through further diplomacy and recognition of each other as exceptional countries."

AIRSTRIKES HIT AL-FIJAR BACKED MILITIA IN JIDDIYA
As Emmirian Forces Withdraw from Saudi Jiddiya, Airstrikes Keep Terrorists at Bay

Image
Emmirian fighter jets hit two targets in the city of Nuzaraq, on the coast of Lake Gravenna.

NUZARAQ - Emmirian fighter jets have struck two targets of al-Fijar backed militia groups as Coalition forces withdraw from a year-long operation. The Ministry of Defense stated that two bunkers utilized by al-Shaasj, a militia group fighting the Saudi Jiddiyan government, were destroyed by the strikes. An estimated 46 insurgents were killed.

"We owe them a great debt of gratitude upon arrival." During the year long deployment, 203 soldiers were killed, mostly in urban fighting and IED explosions. Around November, the conflict had slowed and the Al-Fijar affiliated group had largely ceased operations. By January, al-Azari said that they were entirely "defeated and eradicated."

The strikes mark an important clarification in the fight against al-Fijar in Adula, showing that although ground troops will not be operating in Jiddiya in large deployments, Emmiria is still very much fighting their dwindling numbers.

SULIFA NEWS NETWORK BROADCAST
SULIFA CRACKS DOWN ON DRUNK DRIVING

Sulifa: A chief traffic prosecutor has cautioned drunk drivers to be more vigilant and law-abiding as otherwise they could face a three-year imprisonment and have their licences confiscated for one year. Those who drink and drive could also face a hefty fine of Dh30,000, chief traffic prosecutor Salah Bu Farousha, Head of Sulifa Traffic Public Prosecution (TPP), said.

"Between January 1 and May 13 of 2021, TPP has referred 394 drivers to [the] traffic court for driving under the influence of alcohol. Our team of traffic prosecutors constantly seeks to increase traffic safety by acquiring tough and deterrent traffic court verdicts against reckless and errant drivers who are caught drinking and driving.

Tough measures

"We will relentlessly combat reckless drivers, in general and intoxicated drivers, in particular, no matter what it takes, by asking courts to impose the toughest judgments," Bu Farousha told Sulifa News Network Broadcast. He added that 355 driving licences were revoked, based on court orders, between January 1 and May 13, 2021. TPP has obtained traffic court orders to revoke licences of intoxicated drivers for periods varying between three months and one year.

"We contacted the Roads and Transport Authority to enforce the revocation immediately. During the revocation periods, those drivers could not sit behind the wheel… anyone found driving during the revocation period, according to article 50 of the Traffic Law, faces up to six months in jail and a maximum fine of Dh5,000," Bu Farousha said.

The 2007-revised traffic law stipulates that any individual who consumes alcohol and drives or attempts to drive a vehicle faces between one month and three years in jail and/or a fine varying between Dh20,000 and Dh30,000.

Bu Farousha also warned drivers against driving after consuming alcohol.

"We are very serious in that regard because the consequences will eventually be drastic and tragic," he said. A drunk driver, who kills someone in an accident, faces between one and three years in jail and a fine, he warned.

According to the traffic law, intoxicated drivers, who accidentally injure someone, face a maximum two years in jail and a fine. Corroborating his warning, Bu Farousha said the Traffic Court of First Instance recently jailed a Khaytan driver for three months and fined him Dh20,000. Additionally, the 23-year-old Khaytan was banned from obtaining a driving licence for two years. The court charged him with drunken driving, driving inattentively and hitting another vehicle while driving without a licence.

Other cases

Recently, the traffic court also revoked a 25-year-old Nebetian employee's driving licence for a year, jailed him for two months and fined him Dh20,000 for drunken and reckless driving and hitting a taxi on Umeirah Beach Road. Additionally, a 29-year-old Beleroskov saleswoman had her licence revoked for one year and was jailed for a month and fined Dh20,000 after the traffic court convicted her of drunken driving and recklessly running into two taxis in Raqqabat.

Statistics

- Between January 1 and May 13 of 2021, 394 drivers were referred to traffic court for driving under the influence of alcohol

- 355 driving licenses were revoked, upon court orders, between this year's January 1 and May 13 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Albatross Frontline Erupts in Combat

Birat News Network (
@BNN)
June 28, 2021 | Kabulh, Birat

After the signing of the ceasefire in May, celebrations had erupted in Alicent and other rebel-controlled zones, as news reached the masses that President Meidan had agreed to halt the war. Rebel forces used the first few days of the ceasefire to let the men rest, and many partisans went home to see their families. International humanitarian aid drops were gathered by rebel soldiers during the ceasefire and handed out to the populous, keeping morale high in rebel-occupied Birat. Photos of life in the ceasefire were sent by the rebel press division, showing scenes of militiamen handing out blankets and food to those most affected, helping reconstruct rural houses, petting household pets and playing street games with children, such as soccer or football. One image in particular arose, a photo of militiaman Biran Slovac, an Estocan immigrant, playing the piano in front of a crowd while still in his uniform, circulated around Birat and became known as 'The Piano Man'. The photo has been seen being pinned up in captured federal positions to try and win over federal soldiers, although so far this has just been a statement, with no actual results.

Though these peaceful events and warm pictures have been appearing, it has in no way played down the fragility of the ceasefire. Violations have been happening almost daily as Federal soldiers occasionally fire potshots at rebel patrols, or sound off machinegun bursts at rebel positions, with the rebels occasionally doing the same. Both Federal and Rebel officers believed that the ceasefire was to end fairly quickly, and frontline troops quickly nicknamed the ceasefire the 'Albatross' Frontline', mocking the peacekeeping capabilities of the CCA. Federal soldiers were against it as well, often ridiculing it as an attempt at peace where peace would never be reached. President Meidan himself repeatedly reaffirmed to the CCA and to the international community that he would not violate the agreed ceasefire, and even took steps to reinforce this, issuing an order that should soldiers be spotted violating the ceasfire, they would be court martialed and then jailed for life.

However, the ceasefire was indeed not to last. At 4:00 AM this morning, gunfire and artillery explosions erupted in the city of Kabulh, which sits just inside Rebel territory. Over six thousand Federal soldiers, supported with three armored brigades and air support from BNAF, were assaulting the city and attempting to take it over. Rebel forces immediately followed suit after the beginning of the attack with their own violation, ordering the newly-formed Revolutionary Air Force (RAF) to begin flying its first salvoes. The RAF, numbering 125 planes in size, 90% of them old estocan K-11 multirole fighters, has so far managed to provide enough resistance to severely hamper BNAF operations over Kabulh. As of this afternoon, a total of ~800 servicemen have died in the fighting, this number taken from casualties on both sides. The ceasefire was officially dissolved by Meidan two hours following the beginning of the attack.

Strategos Carne in Estoca has condemned the abandonment of ceasefire, and reports from BNAF claim that CAF squadrons have been spotted conducting pre-mission exercises, and that Estocan special forces and paratroopers have been spotted mobilizing at South Point Airbase. Although these reports cannot be confirmed in their entirety, evidence does confirm that the Estocan Red Squadron, the famously invincible first squadron of the Ace Flotilla, has been seen transferring from Aelial Military Airbase to South Point, and two hundred paratroopers have been seen doing drop drills in South Point as well, although the latter may not be correlated.

SAINT RANEAU TIMES
ALBARINE ABANDONS PEACE PLAN FOR BIRAT

Chancellor Melhaven expressed disappointment in the ceasefire, which was led by Albarine's Foreign Ministry

Image

Chancellor Sadie Melhaven (SDP) delivers an address to the National Assembly

SAINT RANEAU - Chancellor Sadie Melhaven stated in an address to the National Assembly, as well as having alluded to a similar stance in a tele-conference with WEDA leaders, that Albarine will no longer pursue a leading role in peace negotiations in Birat. The ceasefire, enacted in mid-May, had been relatively stable before erupting into violence earlier on Monday, with the ceasefire being broken by both sides in major offensives and clashes. Dozens have been killed as fighting resumed, with peacekeepers from multiple affiliations being pulled from the conflict zones.

Melhaven, who had originally championed the call and drive for a ceasefire last month, has expressed to the National Assembly that Albarine will "no longer play a leading role in trying to maintain the peace."

"President Meidan and the federal forces of Birat have betrayed the confidence and trust of their people and of the world," Melhaven said. "The rebels have done the same. We will continue to hope for a peaceful solution, but we cannot continue to be the leading state in this affair. Birat will have to handle this situation. Other nations stand more of a capability to do so than we do."

Melhaven, and the Foreign Ministry, have pressured North Timeria and Estoca, both of whom have publicly backed the rebels in both aid and military resources, to take more of a role in pursuing peace rather than contributing to the violent offenses seen in Birat over the past few months.

"Birat's rebels, who indeed are fighting the authoritarian and brutal rule of Meidan's government," Melhaven stated, "have whined about the involvement of the world in order to seek an end, while they have their direct backing already." Melhaven went on to say "Timeria holds a key influence with their deployment, and East Chanchajilla has shown through their willingness to accept the ceasefire resolution, that they have the best chance to enact change. While we will continue to vie for peace, it will ultimately be up to Timeria and Estoca."

Albarine had been the co-developer of the resolution introducing the ceasefire in the CCA Security Council, alongside Zamastanian delegates, which was accepted with only 2 abstentions. Birat rebels and federal forces alike had mocked the ceasefire, which showed Albarinean and CCA observers that they essentially regarded the efforts for peace to be null. Now, as rebels are expected to begin more campaigns to take down the government and the government likewise attempts to take down the rebels, Albarine's Foreign Ministry is warning against wider international involvement.

"If they mock our attempt to make peace, whine like children, and then go back to fighting and demand we help, then they are better left to be crushed," said lawmaker Turner Ladweg in National Assembly during an open panel following Chancellor Melhaven's address. "Why should we help perpetuate the violence when we succeeded in a ceasefire. The main reason it failed, and I mean this sincerely, is the immaturity and egotistical drive of both sides in the conflict; we should not back either side if they resolve chaos with chaos. Violence breeds violence in the end, and unless Timeria and Estoca hold a handle on the situation they have encouraged, Birat will be left to ruin."

The government's sudden reversal in policy and outlook towards peacekeeping is surprising to the public, but not to most experts, who point to the crisis in Birat as being unmanagable.

"I cannot blame the Albarine government for deciding to step out of a moderating role," said Dr. Millan Huard, Professor of Foreign Affairs and Diplomatic Function at the University of Saint Marina. "Birat's civil war is unlike most we have witnessed. Gross human rights abuses by both sides, both sides' leaders begging for international help, but both sides ultimately mocking that international help. It's insanity, so I have no sympathy for the rebels nor the government of Meidan, and I understand fully the position of the Albarine government. I do have concern for the people of Birat, of course, but their salvation can not come at the cost of nations pouring weaponry and military aid into the country."

VILANJA SENTINEL
BOER REVERSES TIMERIAN-MOBILITY BAN FOLLOWING COLLAPSE OF CEASEFIRE
The CCA-instituted ceasefire had been in place with relative stability in Birat for over a month until Monday's clashes.

Image
President Gideon Boer addresses the broken ceasefire in Birat.

VILANJA - President Gideon Boer is condemning President Alan Meidan of neighboring Birat after the breaking of a ceasefire, and is stressing to rebel forces that peace must be retained at all costs. He also called on the government of North Timeria, who had previously been blocked and condemned by East Chanchajilla's government for intruding on their territory in order to enter Birat, to take over the international response.

"To be clear and blunt," Boer stated, "we're tired of the war. Chanchajillans are tired of seeing conflict rage around them, deterirating countries on our borders, it's horrific. We support the ouster of Meidan, a tyrannical dictator, but we cannot see our forces or our involvement in this act due to national interest."

Referring to President Raso of Timeria, Boer stated "we have our disagreements on how to handle this crisis, and we do not agree with the breach of trust they displayed several months ago in the course of this conflict, but we now acknowledge that there is no solution that the federal government or the rebels will accept without mockery. The blame lays at both of their feet, Meidan's and the PDA's. Timeria must take charge, whether through peace and diplomacy, or military action."

Boer then went on to approve of Timerian military involvement in Birat, reversing a previous policy baring such action. "We are willing to allow Timerian assets to move through our territory from Estoca, and we will be lifting our restriction on their military operational mobility through our sovereign territory, with the exception being that they share their movements with us."

On Monday, June 28th, Meidan government forces and rebel fighters breached the ceasefire along several fronts, ending the relative peace seen in the small landlocked nation over the past month. East Chanchajillan politicians and military leaders have promised that they will not commit any forces to the conflict, and that they will avoid all operation that involves themselves with either side. The hesitancy of the rebels to accept the ceasefire, according to experts, shows an unwillingness to resort to anything other than a military response to Meidan, which is turning international opinion against them and leaving the nation susceptible to further collapse.

"If the rebels are serious about peace and really want help from the international community as they've been pleading," Boer said sternly, "then they shouldn't complain when the international community is able to implement a ceasefire. The ceasefire failed, yes, but the mockery may have contributed to that collapse. They have lost their opportunity to get our help, and from the perspective of the world, they will continue to do so."

Forces Resume Operations in Birat

Ali Arant (

June 28th, 2021 | Estoca

Today Timerian forces carried out a number of strikes across Birat in a new offensive to see President Alan Meidan removed from power. The strikes came as East Chanchajilla lifted its ban on Timerian military movement following a breach of airspace. President Raso has formally apologized and vowed to work with East Chanchajilla moving forward. This includes the newly released Birati Development Index. The BDI has been submitted to the CCA as a plan to rebuild and stabilize Birat following the removal of President Alan Meidan. The plan includes forming a new government, sifting the military, and building its economy.

The potential for a large Birati mining industry has been examined for many years but the lack of development and energy availability has put limits on its ability to produce. The BDI proposes a gas pipeline from Estoca through East Chanchajilla and into Birat that will produce jobs in all three countries and provide reliable energy. President Raso also highlighted that the Birati grid should not rely fully on gas. President Raso has endorsed the use of foreign direct investment into renewable energy for Birat. This proposal has not been approved but President Raso has fully endorsed the BDI.

Before the BDI can be put into action PDA forces on the ground have experienced intense fighting against federal forces. Timerian aircraft have struck targets across Birat and established a no-fly zone over the country. Many of the strikes were against BNAF airfields, artillery positions, and federal positions on the border with East Chanchajilla. Commander Bennet stated that “East Chanchajilla lifting the ban has really opened things up for our forces in Birat. The LRSSG was able to lead squadrons in taking control of Birati airspace which opened up a lot. We were able to make use of our small-diameter bombs to reduce collateral damage and get the proper tools to those troops on the ground. To ensure that East Chanchajilla is not targeted squadrons have flown from Estoca to strike positions of federal forces that could pose a threat to East Chanchajilla.”

MOREAU ADDRESSES CONGRESSIONAL HALL IN EMERGENCY JOINT-SESSION

Image
President Atticus Moreau became emotional in his fourth ever address to Congressional Hall, where he laid a path for zero-military interference in foreign conflicts.

TOFINO - President Atticus Moreau called a joint-session of both the Congress and Senate in Congressional Hall late on Monday night to address the breaking of a ceasefire in Birat which has resulted in sporadic clashes and violence. The ceasefire, which had been implemented by a Coalition of Crown Albatross Security Council resolution in May, was broken by the forces of embattled President Alan Meidan and the rebel fighters of the People's Democratic Army (PDA). Hundreds have been killed in the fighting since the ceasefire was broken in a conflict that has already left thousands dead since its violent start in early April.

In his address, Moreau struck a personal tone, which is rare for a President who has famously been orientated towards the aspect of statistics and business. However, this address laid out what experts are calling the "new phase" of Zamastanian foreign policy, marked by an administration which is already working to curb its overseas deployment. In February of this year, Moreau and General Reynolds of the Zamastanian Armed Forces announced they would be cutting foreign troop deployments by half, bringing the number down from 268,000 to 134,000 by the middle of 2022.

Moreau struck the moral argument of avoiding conflict, which has not typically been a staple of Zamastanian foreign policy in past administrations. All of his predecessors within the last 40 years from President Cassious Castovia to President Foley Sakzi have involved Zamastan directly in combat operations. From Vulkaria to Ossinia, international Zamastanian military presence has been a notable factor of foreign policy, and is well noted by Zamastanian allies and adversaries respectively.

"War is an easy thing to talk about," Moreau said, taking a moment to catch his breath, "most of Zamastan has witnessed it to some extent, and essentially every generation remembers it. I have never worn the uniform, I have never killed anyone, and I have only commanded as the leader of our nation. It is a heavy duty to order our fellow countrymen to go into battle and perform operations essential to our interests and national security."

Moreau's speech beckoned to the experiences of his parents in the World War, 16 years prior to his birth. "My parents, Aaron and Arnette, lived in Drambenburg and Avergnon respectively. At the start of the World War, they each experienced bombings on either side of the conflict, and their families fled to Zamastan to start a new life. My father would often recount to me the moments he and his younger sister were ushed into bomb shelters during raids. In Titania, he would spend the nights in the subway shelters. 3,000 people were killed in one night in October of 1949. My father would always tell me how terrifying it was."

"Aren't the people of Birat terrified? Aren't the mothers and women and children of Birat weeping when their families die? Does bombing strengthen their determination? What fools we must be to live in a world where war is passed as entertainment in video games and media, but barely passes a glimpse in the newsreel?"

President Moreau's speech has gone viral for its intensity, a tonal shift for the often stoic politician. He went on to address the upcoming Congressional Hall vote for approving the extension of military aid grants to allied nations and a possible resolution to fund rebel fighters in Birat, proposed by Conservative bloc lawmakers.

"Every member of Congressional Hall who votes for the bloc motion to approve intensifying the civil war will be consciously and deliberately accepting responsibility for the deaths of innocent people if the war continues to intensify, as I fear it will and as I recognize it already is. Now that's for their decision to make, but this is a quite unique debate in my professional opinion, where we are asked to share responsibility for a decision we won't really be taking, with consequences for people who have no part to play in the brutality of the regime which we are dealing with."

"Make no mistake," Moreau stated, "Meidan is a monster, and we vehemently oppose him, his government, and his war crimes against the people of Birat. We will continue to speak out for human rights and preserve them where we can, but in a situation as volatile and destructive as the civil war in Birat, we cannot allow ourselves to become involved in such chaos. It will destabilize the region, fracture our commitment to peace, and ruin the lives of tens, if not hundreds, of thousands, if not millions."

Moreau went on to reference the founding principles of the Coalition of Crown Albatross, and their relevance to Zamastan's future motions in regard to Birat and other conflicts. "Upon the passing of the CCA Charter, our world organized closer to peace. We have a long, long way to go, but the words of that charter are etched in my mind. 'We the people of the Coalition of Crown Albatross are determined to save future generations from the scourge of war, which has caused untold suffering to mankind'. That pledge, made by the past generation, was made to our generation, and it would be the highest and greatest betrayal of our generation if we avoided that pledge once again. If we abandon the charter, take unilateral action, and pretend we are doing it in the name of the international community, then we are betraying not only ourselves and our morality, but the principles of our allies and every peace loving nation on this planet."

ZAMASTANIAN TOURIST SENTENCED TO PRISON IN JYAU OVER ALLEGED MURDER

Ben Guana was arrested on June 5th and has been sentenced to 30 years for an alleged murder, but the rushed trial has sparked a diplomatic standoff.

GUTAAI - A Zamastanian tourist, arrested three weeks ago in Jyau for an alleged murder, has been sentenced to thirty years in prison. Benjamin Guana of Jade Harbor had been visiting Gutaai, Jyau, as part of his foreign exchange vacation through Banderbell University, when he was arrested by authorities as a suspect in the murder of a 56-year-old woman. The trial, however, has been called "rushed and fabricated" by Guana's lawyers, who had been denied entry to Jyau. This has sparked an international diplomatic standoff between Zamastan and Jyau, who are close allies, yet have very differing legal procedures.

The Zamastanian ambassador to Jyau, Fred Tulebane, spoke directly with the ambassador from Jyau to seek extradition, which was denied. Additionally, the Foreign Ministry of Jyau denied a request from Secretary of State Jessiah Vallotis to send attorney's to represent Guana. Guana's trial was headed by a judge who did not allow Guana to make phone calls to family or his legal representatives in Zamastan, which is not an illegal action in Jyau, but would be unconstitutional in Zamastan for anyone arrested and awaiting trial.

Meanwhile, authorities in Zamastan are maintaining that the trial, which only took two days, was extremely rushed and unfair due to no legal representation beyond the appointed Jyau lawyers, who have been accused of manipulating or extorting Guada's inaccesability to a defense of his own standing. Jyau legal authorities maintain that he was given a fair and free trial, and the guilty verdict will stand.

PLANE CRASHES OFF BRATTON ISLAND, 5 KILLED

The plane, carrying four passengers and the pilot, crashed in Horseshoe Bay after experiencing engine problems

POINT BRATTON - A small single engine plane crashed off the coast of Bratton Island on Monday, killing all five occupants. According to officials, the plane was carrying four passengers and the pilot, and all were members of a Bratton Island family.

The plane experienced engine problems, according to a statement released by authorities, who say the pilot had been in communication with flight control shortly before the crash. At around 3:10 PM, the plane stalled and began descending rapidly, where it skimmed the water for a short amount of time before ultimately crashing and killing all aboard.

"We're simply heartbroken for the family who lost their lives in this tragic accident," said a spokesperson for Point Bratton Coast Guard, who responded to the site within minutes of the crash. Bystanders on a beach witnessed the crash, and said that the plane was trailing smoke prior to impact with the water.

"Our hearts go out to their loved ones, and we are issuing a full investigation into the cause of the crash and the likely theory that the engine malfunctioned, leading to this horrific incident."

Osipovgrad Report
Konstantin Ulanov shoots up Duma polls
June 29

Image

Osipovgrad- Previously unknown candidate Konstantin Ulanov has shot up the polls over the last few days, originally sitting at .3% a recent poll has put him at 28%, a massive increase. This rise was spurred on by a speech he gave in the Osipovgrad town square last Thursday.

He stopped in the middle of the square and began a speech, which caught the attention of a few passers by, as the speech went on more people stopped and his words became more fiery and passionate, even a group of police officers sent to disperse the gathering stopped.

Near the end Ulanov was nearly yelling at the top of his lungs, finishing the speech wit “The Union shall reign supreme, all enemies shall crumble and fall to feet of the great bear of the Grand Slavic Union, it is destiny, it is fate, it is simply meant to be- hail to the Union” the crowd then launched into chants of ‘Hail to the Union’

Another segment of his speech reportedly caused Vozhd Matvei Pavlov great distress “I have myself looked into the eyes of Pavlov- they are the eyes of a Chort (Demon in Slavic paganism)- perhaps they are even the eyes of Chernobog (Slavic god of bad fate) himself!” Pavlov later denounced Ulanov’s speech as empty promises at best, and violent extremism at worst.

This condemnation has done little to hamper his campaign and he is expected to soon overtake Jaroslav Varonin in the polls.

This is a developing story, due to Ulanov’s previous status as a fringe candidate very little is known about his policy positions

MAJOR EARTHQUAKE STRIKES QOLAYSIA

Image
Rescue workers in Temebok look for survivors following a devastating 8.4 magnitude earthquake

LEONRAU - President Abiel Kennard has issued a nationwide state of emergency following a major 8.4 magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Temebok Island, which triggered a tsunami and has caused widespread destruction. Preliminary estimates indicate that the death toll might be in the thousands.

At around 6:30 AM on Tuesday, June 29th, the tectonic plates off the coast of Temebok in the Emmiria Sea shifted, releasing a massive amount of pressure. The initial shaking caused massive damage across Temebok Island and the shaking was felt throughout much of Qolaysia and Southern Adula. However, the tsunami was the truly damaging counter to the earthquake.

Tsunami waves, at some points reaching a height of 4-7 meters (13-23 feet), crashed into the northern armed bays and harbors of Temebok, destroying coastal structures. Soil liquification also occurred in many areas, creating massive mudflows and landslides in the hill areas.

Kennard called on the nation's military to begin rescue and recovery efforts in Temebok, and has called on the international community to assist in relief efforts.

The earthquake was preluded by several tremors in the days and weeks before, including some tremors as far back in March which contributed to the minor eruptions of Mount Abu, Temebok Island's principle volcano.

Tens of thousands of people on Temebok Island have lost their homes, with swaths of people being forced outdoors into shelters and tents.

VONGANE JOURNAL
QUETANA APPROVES LARGE AID RELIEF PACKAGE FOR QOLAYSIA FOLLOWING EARTHQUAKE
Thousands have been killed following an 8.4 magnitude quake

Image
Destruction on Temebok Island, Qolaysia, following the devastating quake.

VONGANE - President Brafeo has signed and National Assembly has passed an approval for one of the largest ever foreign aid relief packages set forward by Quetana in order to provide relief for the devastated island of Temebok in Qolaysia after a powerful earthquake shook the region and has left thousands dead and millions displaced.

President Brafeo called President Kennard of Qolaysia to ensure that Quetana would continue to aid in the humanitarian mission to alleviate the under-supplied Qolaysian government. The earthquake, one of the strongest ever recorded in South Adula in the history of modern seismic data collection, struck at a shallow depth in the Emmiria Sea about 30 miles off the coast of Temebok, leveling structures and initiating a tsunami that caused even more damage. Thousands are believed to be dead, with some expert estimates based on the damage thus far being as high as 10,000. However, with no specific number narrowed by rescue and recovery missions, the fear is that the number on Temebok will be extensively more than 10,000.

The tsunami reached heights of nearly 7-8 meters and devastated coastal regions along the northern stretch of Temebok. The tsunami's waves, at some points in shallow bays and harbors, reached more than 3 kilometers inland. Structures along the shores were literally uprooted from their foundations and pushed far inland, destroying everything in its path as a mash of concrete and debris, and later swept out to sea when the water withdrew.

The capital of Qolaysia, Leonrau, experienced significant shaking but minimal damage. Authorities state that damage beyond Temebok Island is minimal, and there were 34 deaths connected to the quake outside of Temebok. Such information, experts say, point to how immense and devastating the quake's effects really were on Temebok. Quetanan aid workers who have already arrived described the scene as "apocalyptic".

Shaking was also felt across Southern Adula, with seismographs recording the tremor as close as Saint Elmenau, Saint Croix and Bens, and as far away as Kynnport, Alecburgh, and Zakaraban, Zalluabed. The tsunami also crossed north over the Emmirian Sea, making landfall in Emmiria, albeit with smaller waves. Damage and casualties were not reported in any other nations.

BRAFEO CALLS ON WEDA TO ADJUST ALECBURGH POLICY
WEDA has largely chosen a "neutrality through defense" stance, but Brafeo says that the policy should change.

Image
Alecburgh's Saint Aleister Church in Venice, Varzo, following a terror attack on June 22nd that left four people dead.

VONGANE - President Brafeo has suggested to member states of the Western Euronia Defense Alliance that the official position on Alecburgh's ongoing crisis should shift, following an increase in clashes and violent terror attacks by the self-declared Republic of Cambria. Speaking to representatives of Zamastan, Emmiria, Caspiaa, Sulifa, Kuresa, and Vitosium who were meeting with the President at the WEDA Headquarters in Vongane, Brafeo pushed for a more active support structure for the Alecburghian government.

Currently, WEDA's position has been largely hands off, with heads of state resorting generally to condemning the attacks by Cambrian-affiliated insurgents on Alecburghian targets, but also urging Prime Minister Sparrow Creed to adopt a position of diplomatic resort. However, in recent weeks, the tones of national governments, specifically Zamastan's, have curbed more towards the active backing of Alecburgh.

Brafeo has clarified that he does not intend to involve Quetana or WEDA member states in any military operations in South Adula, but has stated that the position should be more supportive of Alecburgh. While not pressuring the Alecburghian government directly, international diplomatic tension had arisen in the past several months over a WEDA naval deployment in Beresa, SCB, which Alecburghian politicians largely denounced as a provocative measure. WEDA maintained that the deployment was insurance for the protection of Saint Croix and Bens, as well as international shipping.

Specifically, Brafeo's more supportive tone towards the crisis has stemmed from recent attacks, including a terror attack committed at a church frequented by tourists, and an ambush against an Alecburghian military convoy. Additionally, Quetana's public opinion has shifted to a supportive tone for Alecburgh following the massacre of 60 people on a bus in Mandalay in April, which included 4 Quetanan tourists.

"It has become clear to the world that diplomacy failed," Brafeo stated. "We pushed them to do it, and eventually they did, but it was too late. At this point, Cambria's de facto government wants to pressure and put strain on the Alecburghian people through violence and terror, which we do not stand for. Our disagreements with the Alecburghian government do not warrant our ignorance to Cambria's belligerence. We must support their right to defense."

SAINT OFFEAT COMMITTS RESOURCES TO QOLAYSIAN RELIEF FOLLOWING QUAKE

Prime Minister Lynne Bushore and Parliament have agreed to a massive humanitarian relief package for the South Adulan nation of Qolaysia following a devastating earthquake that has left thousands dead and even more missing. The aid packages will be flown to Leonrau, the Qolaysian capital, where they will be distributed to the hardest hit areas, specifically Temebok Island in the northern rim of the country.

Qolaysia was rattled by a massive 8.4 magnitude quake on Tuesday, one of the largest ever recorded in the region in the past century. The quake and its aftershocks leveled villages and structures across Temebok Island, a location known for frequent seismic activity and volcanic eruptions, but typically on a low scale. Tuesday's earthquake, however, destroyed that notion through its sheer force, with some shaking lasting up to 2 minutes in areas along the coast.

A tsunami was triggered, which authorities say caused most of the damage and destruction, and contributed greatly to the loss of life. Some estimates state that there is upwards of 10,000 dead or missing in the quake and tsunami.

Bushore spoke on the earthquake, committing Saint Offeat's resources to the relief effort.

"We join the world in mourning the loss of life in the Qolaysian state of Temebok," she stated, "and we are prepared to do whatever is necessary to help in the humanitarian efforts underway."

Several nations are already committing their resources to the efforts, which has seen millions of pounds worth and billions of dollars in humanitarian relief already spent within the past 24 hours.

TEMEBOK EARTHQUAKE: updates

Image
President Kennard speaks with rescue workers on Temebok Island on Tuesday, June 30th, 2021

TEMEBOK - President Abiel Kennard has visited Temebok Island following yesterday's disasters 8.4 magnitude earthquake and tsunami, paying visits to rescue and recovery workers, as well as hospitals around the island. Speaking to the nation in an address in front of Al-Khana Hospital, President Kennard called for the Qolaysian people to "come together and help Temebok in this time of crisis." He also called on the international community for assistance, thanking the governments who have already stepped in to offer relief and humanitarian aid.

The island of Temebok has been brutally ravaged by the quake and tsunami. Experts have noted that very few structures remain standing or fully intact. Even Al-Khana Hospital, which the President visited today, is only partially functional due to a collapse in the east wing of the facility.

Adding to the island's woes, Mount Abu began erupting on Tuesday morning, but no casualties have been reported as a result of the volcano's seismic activity. Aftershocks are still being recorded, with the largest being a 5.7 on Monday night.

Hungry survivors of an earthquake and tsunami in Qolaysia's northernmost island said on Tuesday they were scavenging for food in farms as relief efforts intensify.

The official death toll from the 8.4 magnitude quake that hit the north coast of Temebok Island rose to 4,407, many killed by tsunami waves it triggered.

But officials fear the toll could soar, as most of the confirmed dead have come from Hauialn, a city northeast of Temebok City, which was hit by one of the larger tsunami waves, and losses in remote areas remain unknown, as communications are down, and bridges and roads have been destroyed or blocked by landslides.

Electricity stations are not functioning on Temebok, leaving the island without power and aid, rescue, and recovery checkpoints relying on generators. Remote areas of Temebok have been increasingly difficult to reach via land due to mudslides and eroded roads from soil liquification. Rescue workers have begun to reach more remote areas in a disaster zone that encompasses 1.4 million people.

In another part of Temebok, which has a total population of around 2,000,000 people, a farmer named Jako Badoruni said survivors were scavenging for food in fields and orchards.

"What we're relying on right now is food from farms and sharing whatever we find like sweet potatoes or bananas," said Badoruni whose house was swept away by the tsunami leaving a jumble of furniture, collapsed tin roofs and wooden beams.

"Why aren't they dropping aid by helicopter?" he asked.

The government of Quetana was the first foreign state to pledge assistance, with a relief package being sent via sea and air, arriving in Leonrau earlier today.

The main concern in the rescue efforts, as of now, is locating and recovering people trapped under rubble. The tsunami waves uprooted thousands of structures, leading to a mass debris field across much of northern Temebok. There are nearly 20,000 people missing as of Tuesday afternoon, and that number continues to climb rapidly.

Mount Abu, the principal volcano on Temebok Island, began erupting following the quake. Experts indicate that the eruption was caused by the quake and the shifting tectonic plates. Authorities have warned planes about volcanic ash in the air after Mount Abu spewed ash 6,000 metres (19,700 feet) into the sky on Wednesday morning. No evacuations were immediately ordered.

4TH FLEET DISPATCHED TO QOLAYSIA TO ASSIST IN RELIEF EFFORTS

Image
Tuesday's 8.4 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami has left the northern regions of Qolaysia devestated, with thousands dead and tens of thousands still missing.

TEMEBOK - Congressional Hall passed an emergency relief bill which President Atticus Moreau signed onto within minutes of its passing, clearing the way for Z$400 million in humanitarian aid to be sent to Qolaysia following Tuesday's earthquake and tsunami. The ZMS Levasseur carrier group, better known as the 4th fleet, have embarked to Southern Adula where they will begin rescue, recovery, and relief efforts. Experts estimate that the total recovery effort will end up costing billions, and Congressional Hall's passing of Z$400 million is "a great step, but not enough," according to Secretary of State Vallotis.

The Zamastanian delegation to the Coalition of Crown Albatross is expected to introduce a resolution for sweeping international aid, which so far has only been officially designated by the governments of Quetana, Kossmil, North Timeria, and Saint Offeat. President Moreau issued a statement during a brief press appearance prior to the Congressional Hall resolution, stating "we stand with our friends in Qolaysia, and we mourn the tragic and catostrophic loss of life. We in Zamastan, especially in the Tarin-Providence corridor, understand the destructive power of these quakes, and we hope that our experience can help provide relief in any way possible." President Moreau was referencing the 8.1 magnitude Coastal Valley quake, which struck Zamastan on August 1st of 2019 and resulted in the deaths of nearly 3,900 people.

Tuesday's quake, which struck shallow in the earth's crust only 50 miles north of Temebok Island, shifted the tectonic plates to a degree that triggered a magnitude of 8.4, and resulted in a major tsunami. Wave heights reached points of nearly 23 feet (7 meters), and swept away much of the northern coastal infrastructure on Temebok. As of Wednesday evening, the death toll stands at 4,407, with authorities stating that the number of deceased is guarenteed to climb as recovery efforts intensify. More than 20,000 people are missing, many of whom were in the city of Hauialn, which was nearly completely destroyed.

President Abiel Kennard of Qolaysia, who had welcomed President Moreau and a Zamastanian delegation to Leonrau on June 7th, visited Temebok Island to assess the damage, meet with relief workers, and visit hospitals. Authorities have stated that damage outside of Temebok Island, like in Leonrau and other major cities, is minimal in comparison to the devastation on Temebok. Virtually no buildings were untouched by the quake, with the island's main hospital in Temebok City having collapsed. The other hospitals are operating on emergency generators, as power to the island has been completely shut off. Leaking gas lines are another concern, with some fires breaking out across the island.

Additionally, the island's famous Mount Abu volcano began erupting on Tuesday night following the quake, spewing hot ash and smoke into the atmosphere to 19,700 feet. Authorities have stated that the volcanic eruption is not warranting evacuations or major concern, although warnings have been given to planes flying to and from Temebok.

The island of Temebok, which is the northern most island fully under Qolaysian sovereignty (aside Qolan, which is shared with Saint Croix and Bens), has a total population of around 2 million people, making it one of the most densely populated islands in the world. The capital city of Temebok, Temebok City, is the 6th most populous city in Qolaysia with 450,000 people. Its location along the Emmiria Sea, a sister sea of the Toyana Ocean, makes Temebok a major tourist hotspot. The fear of many international governments is that their citizens have been killed or are missing following the quake, due to June-July being the height of tourist season in Qolaysia.

A great deal of humanitarian aid is needed because of widespread damage to the infrastructure, shortages of food and water, and economic damage. Epidemics are of particular concern due to the high population density and tropical climate of the affected areas. The main concern of humanitarian and government agencies is to provide sanitation facilities and fresh drinking water to contain the spread of diseases such as cholera, diphtheria, dysentery, typhoid and hepatitis A and hepatitis B.

There is also a great concern that the death toll could increase as disease and hunger spread. However, because of the initial quick response, this will hopefully be minimized. In the day following the tsunami, significant effort has been spent in burying bodies hurriedly due to fear of disease spreading. Zamastanian relief experts state that the public health risks may have been exaggerated, and therefore hastily burying the deceased may not be the best way to allocate resources.

TOFINO EXPERIENCES HOTTEST TEMPERATURE RECORDED SINCE 1922

Image
Temperatures in the capital of Zamastan hit 49.4C (121F) on Wednesday, breaking the record for the city's hottest ever recorded temperature.

TOFINO - With abnormally high temperatures across much of Euronia this summer, Tofino has recorded it's hottest day ever. Wednesday saw meteorogists measure the temperature at 49.4C, or 121F, breaking the previous record set in 1922, nearly 100 years ago. A large dome of static high-pressure hot air stretching from Caspiaa to northern Paraboca has seen records being broken everywhere across the northwestern stretch of the continent.

Temperatures have been easing in coastal areas but there is not much respite for inland regions. The worry by many climate change experts is that the heat is progressing glacial melt, which will contribute to flooding in lowlying river valleys across Zamastan. Combine that with a sudden influx of heavy thunderstorms expected for this week, while cooling temperatures overall, will see what is expected to be one of the worst flood seasons upcoming.

Public parks were swarmed with people across the West coast of Zamastan as people find ways to escape the heat. In Tofino, public beaches at Kingston, Tragerville, and Kitsilano were packed as people tried to avoid the scorching heat. Much of the static heat is made through humidity, meaning people are failing to retain much of their bodily moisture. That has contributed to over 300 cases of heat stroke since Tuesday in Tofino alone.

Experts are blaming climate change on the massive heat wave, pointing to the increasing commonality in the frequency of heat waves and record-setting temperatures. Experts also point to the abnormal natural causes, such as a more directly eastern angle of the sea breezes, which typically move northeast.

"Climate change is definitely one of the drivers of the intensity of this heatwave," said Dr. Mark Scheder of the University of Tofino, "but it is not the only one and determining how much it impacts it, is a work in progress."

ZTSA OFFICIALS WARN OF LAPSES IN SECURITY

Image
Jade Harbor International Airport's security came under fire in September of 2020 following the bombing of Air Andaluni Flight 553

JADE HARBOR - The Zamastanian Transportation Security Administration (ZTSA) has warned that severe lapses in security procedure remain, even after sweeping reforms were made in the wake of the April 24th, 2020 bombing of Tregueux Metro Station and the September 16, 2020 bombing of Air Andaluni Flight 553. The ZTSA has stated that though efforts have been made to account for every probable outcome and that security has indeed strengthened at ports of entry, domestic airport checkpoints, and metro locations, there are still significant issues that need to be addressed and modified.

In a recent test of ZTSA security protocal, only 60% of "items of interest" were seized, and only 2/500 individuals were checked as "persons of interest" out of the actual 20 placed throughout the test. The examination of security lapses showed a concerning lack in preparation for potential breaches.

The warning comes following the passage of a Congressional Hall bill that will cut funding to national airport security for domestic flights by 30%. Those funds will be diverted to metro sites across the country as Zamastan works to improve its passenger rail system. The ZTSA, however, states that such a detract in funds will have consequences beyond their control.

"We can't have another repeat of September 16th," said Marton Keneaba, a spokesperson for the ZTSA. Referencing the terrorist bombing that occured aboard Air Andaluni Flight 553, a flight which originated from Jade Harbor an exploded while en-route to Vongane, Quetana on September 16th, 2020. It disintegrated in midair at an altitude of 31,000 feet (9,400 m) over the Olympic Ocean, as a result of the explosion from a suicide bomber aboard affilliated with the terrorist group al-Fijar. The remnants of the airliner fell into the ocean approximately 120 miles (190 km) east-northeast of the northeast tip of Quetana, killing all aboard: 178 people, including 90 Kuresan citizens, 29 Andaluni citizens, 18 Rio Palitoan citizens, 16 Quetanan citizens, 10 Zamastanian citizens, 8 Caspiaan citizens, and 7 Emmirian citizens. The bombing of Air Andaluni Flight 553 was the largest mass killing in Andaluni and Kuresan history, the deadliest aviation accident in the history of Air Andaluni. It was also the deadliest ever act of aviation terrorism in the history of the world.

Experts state that protective measures, such as increased screening and additional levels of security to pass through would significantly help prevent possible attacks. In the case of Air Andaluni Flight 553, the bomber, Kalumaan al-Babur, had been able to get through security in Jade Harbor International Airport without the ZTSA having detected his explosive suicide vest due to a "quick pace" program, which lets one out of every 8 people in line at the airport bypass security. This program, initially designed as a way to quicken the pace of passenger flow, ultimately led to the bombing, with critics in the investigation stating that had the program not existed, or had al-Babur been one of the 7/8 rather than the 1/8, he would have been stopped prior to boarding the doomed flight.

The program has since been scrapped following the revelations of the investigation, but authorities maintain that there is still much work needed to fix the problems with blind spots in airport security. Additionally, problems have arisen in other transportation links, such as in the April 24th, 2020 bombing of Tregueux Metro Station, which killed 34 people and injured dozens more. While the bomber, also affiliated with al-Fijar, never passed through a checkpoint, he did detonate his suicide vest just outside the entrance to the station, which was packed due to the flow of passengers in the only point of entry to the station. Experts believe increased security outside transportation hubs in the form of cameras, infrared and heat scanners, and guards would be able to prevent such occurances.

SHANGHAN - The Yuaneze government, at behest of President Xi Jingyi, is sending a large humanitarian relief package to the government of Qolaysia. With the death toll rising in the aftermath of a terrible earthquake and tsunami, which has destroyed much of the island of Temebok, Yuan's government is preparing for billions of yen in relief.

One of Yuan's two aircraft carrier groups is mobilizing near Alecburgh, where many detachments of the Yuaneze military is already located, to prepare staging for recovery efforts.

"The people of Qolaysia have our support," Xi Jingyi said in an address.

Southern Adulan nation Qolaysia was hit with a massive earthquake at a magnitude of 8.4 which led to the tsunami that has devastated Temebok Island. The official death toll has risen to over 4,000 and Qolaysians officials expected the count to rise significantly. With crucial infrastructure destroyed and many still missing the international community has come together to support Qolaysia in this time of need. Secretary of State Aaron Nordquist stated that “Timeria is committed to supporting Qolaysia and getting aid to the people as quickly as possible. The TImerian people mourn those lost in this natural disaster and will do all we can to help Qolaysia rebuild.”

The KTS Aquarii has been redirected to support efforts in Qolaysia and vessels from Siarvi Naval Base have been deployed to the coast of Qolaysia. A number of Timerian aircraft took off from Siarvi Naval Base early this morning to airdrop supplies to isolated communities throughout Qolaysia. Within the coming days, a number of Timerian vessels and aircraft will arrive to support the relief effort. This includes Timeria’s sole hospital ship the KTS Princess Caroline. With damage to Al-Khana Hospital, the ship will provide medical service and transport to those across Qolaysia.

At home, Congress is expected to pass a relief package to provide funding and aid for Qolaysia. The efforts were led by Senator Mal Tuhumena whose grandparents immigrated from Qolaysia. The relief bill has been expedited to reach Qolaysia as quickly as possible. Experts believe that delayed efforts will have longer-term effects on the Qolaysian population. With this in mind, President Raso has also increased efforts to cooperate with global partners. Siarvi Naval Base has been opened to foreign military personal that are assisting with the relief effort.

There have been no reports of additional tsunami’s but Timeria will continue to monitor the area for signs of seismic activity.
