We're Starting Horribly

HUElavia opens the Women's World Cup with a shocking defeat at home to Raspotochje.

HUElavia 0-2 Raspotochje
(REDACTED 18', 54')
(Estadio Internacional, San Rafael)

Despite the hype that the team had, we started with a loss. A brace from REDACTED in each half got passed the fingertips on both occasions. Here's to hoping we can win against Baggieland.

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!

Lisander Women's Football National Team

Nickname: Women's National, Ladies 11, Star 11 (due to the name of Starleague, first division of Female Football in Lisander)
Style: +4

General Information
The Lisander Football Federation has welcomed the idea of a Women's World Cup. As is publicly known, It is customary in Lisander to divide territorial team sports between men and women, for reasons of privacy, safety and health. Women's football, which is not as popular as grass hockey (a favourite team sport among women in Lisander) or other individual sports such as golf, tennis and motorsports, is not as popular in the country. The Starleague, the women's premier league (out of a total of two) is a semi-professional league. Some of the players on this team are still university students. Few athletes live exclusively from their sport. These generally work in the clubs where they play, either coaching the youth teams (like Anneliese Gallion, who coaches the Leonessa U-15), or in their professional fields (like Alix Casamayor, who is a lawyer and member of the financial board of AC Kasandora).

Uniforms
Image

Female National Team uses the same uniforms as the male team. The obvious difference is that the jerseys are designed to fit the female body, in opposition to the larger and curveless male uniforms. The home jersey (heavily criticized because of the small logo) that was first used in most recent World Cup Qualifiers keeps as the primary option, while the white patterned away jersey introduced in WCQ 85 makes its last appearance. The contract with the current supplier is finishing, and there's a lot of pressure to sign a local manufacturer for the next uniforms.

Stadium
Image
Parc Lesport (10,000)
Even if 26,000 seats smaller than bigger Estádio Olímpico de Lesport, Parc Lesport was the one selected to host lisanderian matches in the group stage, for some reasons: First, low attendance. Female football isn't that big in Lisander. Less seats means that's easier to fill. Second, local support. CF Lesport Belle is a local team with good results on female football, so the city is excited about it. The club is currently planning a merge into Union Sportive Lesportaise, the owner of the stadium, so it's a good opportunity to help a growing team. Third: Reinforce female football culture as a positive and liberating value in the north where cities are more conservative and women's rights are still disrespected. The north of Lisander is a heavily conservative area, with signs of progress in culture and female rights being dated from the last 40 years. In these cities, there's still a culture of female objectification that the government fights against, so supporting and empower female sports is a way to act positively against gender inequality.

Uniforms

Unfortunately, the uniforms for the team didn't arrived at time for Matchday 1, due to a shady contract between Federation Gallienaise de Football and a logo designer that didn't delivered the material in able time. FGF then contacted a different manufacturer. As an emergency measure, for the first matchday the team wore a uniform provided by the tournament organisation, which bore the name of the country spelt incorrectly as "Gallena". The Federation thanks the event organisers for their promptness in getting the uniforms, but reiterates that the correct name of the country is Galliena, with an I.

Baker Park open Jenna Raven Cup with win
Steve Vandenburg, Soccer Writer
for The Exponent

President's Park--Baker Park's Ladies National Team got off to the best possible start in the Jenna Raven Cup/14th Women's World Cup, with a 4-2 victory over Baggieland in front of 23,619 on the first matchday of Group B.

Chandra Mack had a pair of goals, with Christa Vuckovic and Isabelle Wiley each adding a tally to see the home side through ahead of a three match stint of away days before the NT returns for the final two return fixtures against newcomers Raspotochje and the dangerous HUElavia, which will take place at Newport City Stadium and the Queen Victoria Stadium in Ezriquay, respectively.

There were maiden caps for Elena Diaz and Amber McFairlaine in the starting XI, and a debut off the bench for Olivia Ryan; Metros Ladies' forward Karrie Price came on for Mack with 17 minutes remaining, and registered on shot on goal.

Liam Sullivan, the National Under-21 coach, varied the tactics throughout the match, looking to maintain possession while increasing or decreasing the tempo as the situation warranted.

In the post-match comments, Sullivan was asked his thoughts about which nations he believed should go a long way in the competition.
"I've not really seen the make-up of other squads, but on overall potential, Equestria, Banija, Sarzonia, us. The Flefts I think will be reckoned with. We brought a group who have enough experience, who got important minutes back during (World Cup 88) qualifying, and we're really excited about our cappies and bants as well."

There's been a concerted effort on the part of FAC to emphasize the uniqueness of this particular squad for this event; since the advent of mixed gender national teams, there have been matches that were contested by all-female squads: both iterations of the Baker Park Open Cup, the AOCAF 60 team, as well as a few matches in past WCQ tournaments. Except for the BPOC, all matches played by female only sides since the Baptism of Fire have been considered as part of the National Team's history. In fact, this match was only the second time in history that Baker Park has played an international match between female teams at President's Park, the first coming over 25 years ago.

This emphasis has included resurrecting the 'Elks' nickname for the national team--the ladies in this case--as a bit of a throwback, although most supporters would say that there was never anything particularly nostalgic about the Women's NT worth throwing back to, except for Pam Scott's tenure.

Aside from all of the secondary issues, this squad is seen as being a preview of what is coming down the pipeline into the full NT player pool as it has become a bit unbalanced with the retirement of so many of the key female stars over the past few cycles.

The Same Old Beginning

Type: Game Review
Time: ???? After MD 1

Banija 1 - 1 Atheara
Unknown (12') / Lille Danshouvera (45')

A 1 - 1 draw to begin the Jenna Raven Cup / 14th Womens World Cup. Just like when Atheara began with a 0 - 0 draw against Galeanna in the Baptism of Fire. That brought many memories, but now was not the time to dwell on the past, as we focus on what happened during the match between Atheara and Banija. The match was a huge standstill for most of it, with not many chances for both sides, but two goals, and a draw meant goals were scored, and both goals were in the first half.

Banija started with the lead in the 12th minute, where a Banijan striker had blasted the ball past Irena, to give Banija the lead. Atheara was playing a mostly locked down defense, which is why Atheara's formation looked a bit unnatural. But the formation had actually worked many times back in Atheara's universe, so surely it can work in the multiverse, or not? The lead would not last long, as in the 45th minute, before stoppage time was added, Lille was able to somehow lift the ball behind her, and gave a bicycle kick pas the Banjian Goalkeeper, to give Atheara a goal. This score would last until the end of the match, with Atheara almost scoring on two different occasions.

As the next game was against Group Leaders Sarzonia, the coach, Anandria Stertcthen, decided to keep the same formation and 11 starting players. They needed all of their strength for the match.
Irena Svaneska (25 Y/O, GK)
Olivia Rivendottir (26 Y/0, RB)
Alexandra Neier - Heitsdel (27 Y/O, CB)
Diana Kurettengard (26 Y/O, CB)
Rena Lyanol - Hastens (24 Y/O, LB)
Leona Acrelia - Litsenhower (24 Y/O, DMF)
Jennifer Innings (25 Y/O, DMF)
Afierra Kiralski (27 Y/O, CMF)
Erna Linotrovski (26 Y/O, CMF)
Mediya Peterov - Trenska (24 Y/O, CMF)
Lille Danshouvera (27 Y/O, CF)

I sure hope this will work. We now wait for the results against Sarzonia.

The Football Fallacies
with The Man from Markovsky

THE MORE THINGS CHANGE, THE MORE THEY STAY THE SAME

Hello and welcome to The Football Fallacies. Right, I don't know why I'm doing this, especially after the pain and the heartache that was that shitshow of a Cup of Harmony, but I'm back once again to cover yet another obscure tournament where the players are either too young or too old to play for the actual Abanhfleft national team anymore. Not that it makes any difference since they're all bottlejobs. Must be in their DNA or something.

Anyway, yes, the SFA has rolled out yet another B-team in order to participate in the Jenna Raven Cup, which is also being advertised as the 14th Women's World Cup. All the branding aside, it's just another excuse for the SFA to get some fringe players on the national team and some young 'uns to be able to say that they got capped for Abanhfleft because, let's be real, this is literally the only time that they will actually get to wear the great off-white shirt. At this point, it's not even a secret anymore. The players know it, the coaches know it, even the association knows it. Which is probably why nobody even bothers to give a shit about these tournaments, why nobody bothers to put in too much effort. I mean, when you think about it, these tournaments don't really mean much in the grand scheme of things because, let's face it, they're not the World Cup. But then again, it's in these tournaments where we actually have to start cultivating a culture of winning and uproot this culture of losing that we've allowed to fester throughout the vast majority of our nation's sporting programs. Because we've got to start somewhere, and if it ain't happening in the big cups, we might as well start doing it in the small cups.

But right off the bat, we're off to a bad start. We just got beaten by Srednjaci. Look, I can't claim to be an expert on absolutely every single team there is playing football throughout the multiverse right now, but let me just say for the record that Srednjaci surprised me. There. I said it. I was surprised by their speed and their skill and how they were seemingly able to sidestep our players with only so much as a wish and a thought. Poor Queenie Yarnall was just made to chase shadows out there. She was well and truly schooled and embarrassed. I wouldn't be surprised if Kate Bernanos announced that Yarnall was going to be sidelined by an "injury" come the next game. Like, we all know why you're doing this, Kate, but for everyone's sake, we're all going to go along with it. Wink wink. Things aren't going to get any easier from here on in, though. Lisander and Pratapgadh are no pushovers. We can still easily finish this tournament with a 0-0-6 record if we're not careful. But we can still turn things around and go 5-0-1. Anything's still possible. I don't know where my newfound optimism has appeared, but by God, if this is how I have to cope with the shit from the Cup of Harmony then I'm going all in.

Anyway, that's all that there is from me. If you've got comments of your own about the Srednjaci game or predictions for the next one then feel free to leave them down below. Until then, I've been the Man from Markovsky, wishing that there could be a time that I will no longer be disappointed in our country.

This RP will be told from Harriet Copeland's perspective.

"Look Josh, they can't win! You know what Eshialand's competitive home record is? 1-2-6!"
"Come on Karsten, that was the co-ed team's record. Surely the women's team is better than that!"

The voices of the match commentators rang in your head in the minutes leading up to your match against Saterun. Karsten was right, Eshialand's home record was worse than anything you could ever imagine... but you were benched for those matches. This was your first chance to start at home. Your home record was completely spotless, 0-0-0.

Then, a different voice rang in your head. "COPELAND!!!"
You sighed as you walked towards the coach, not knowing what was going to come next but dreading it all the same. "Yes, Coach Monaghan?"
"Look, I've seen what you've done before. I saw the Bjørnsson incident."
"In my defense..."
"CUT IT THE HECK OUT!! If you get so much as one yellow card, YOU CAN KISS YOUR SPOT ON THE ROSTER GOODBYE!!!"
"But..."
"NO BUTS!!! Now get out there and play some CLEAN soccer!!"

Between not straying from the left midfield and not doing anything that could risk drawing a card, what could you do? Just stand there? What even was there to do?

In the 22nd minute, you noticed Evie Dorodago running in your direction with the ball, but what could you do? Normally, you'd try to get the ball, but did you dare risk that? You didn't wanna get on Coach Monaghan's bad side...

Luckily, she messed up a dribble, which let you have the ball anyway, so you passed it off to Alyssa, who wound up scoring. Hey look at that, 1-0 Eshialand.

Saterun was able to even up the score in the 1st minute of first half stoppage time thanks to a wonderful shot from Mabel Westur, so the match was 1-1 going into halftime. During halftime, you had to deal with Coach Monaghan ranting about your team's "stiff" gameplay and "miserable" team cohesion. That was more than a little ironic...

The second half looked like it was going to be destined for more of the same, until Melissa flashed you a look from across the pitch in the 54th... you knew exactly what this look was trying to tell you. It was telling you to stop listening to Coach Monaghan, and let go of her tyranny.

Melissa was going to be the coach from now on.

You were a little hesitant to stop listening to Coach Monaghan, but at the same time, she was absolutely ridiculous... you debated your next move for a few seconds, until you got a pass from Dominique. When you got this pass, you knew exactly what you were going to do next.

You started running down the pitch, ignoring Coach Monaghan's orders. You could hear her yelling at you from the bench, telling you that "YOUR CAREER HERE IS GONNA BE OVER, DO YOU HEAR ME?? OVER!!!!"... but you didn't care. You had to stand up for what was right, and what was right was playing actual soccer and not the boring, robotic soccer that Coach Monaghan preferred. You ran up to the goal and shot the ball past Zoe Laguna, giving Eshialand back the lead, 2-1. Coach Monaghan was livid.

"YOU'RE NEVER GONNA WEAR ESHIAN COLORS AGAIN!! NEVER EVER AGAIN!!"

"Coach Monaghan, may I respectfully tell you to SHUT UP?!" Melissa snapped back in your defense. "She just scored the go-ahead goal and you're out here complaining about it! You're always talking about how concerned you are with winning, but whenever we are winning, you yell at us for winning the "wrong way"! That's just hypocritical and stupid!"

"That's it, I'm benching both of you! FISK! WARREN! YOU'RE UP!"
"NO!" Jessica Fisk and Anna Warren replied in unison.
"WHADDYA MEAN NO?? IS THERE A SINGLE PLAYER ON THIS TEAM WHO HAS ANY RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY???"
"Yeah, of course there are," Sarah answered, "but we're all smart enough to know that you're no authority on how we should play our game."

Coach Monaghan walked out of the SuperDome, telling the team "you're gonna regret this on the plane to Felinetopia..." as the crowd booed her away.

Melissa would do a decent job as player-coach for the rest of the match, leading the Owls to a dominant finish. One more goal from Alice in the 73rd ensured Eshialand the victory by a score of 3-1.

Eshialand - 3 (Longfield 22', Copeland 54', Carroll 73')
Saterun - 1 (Westur 45+1')

The flight to Kampawla was filled with a lot more of the same yelling you had to deal with in the match against Saterun, but this time, it actually meant something. Sure, Coach Monaghan couldn't really take you off of the pitch once you were on it, but it was easy for her to stop you from ever getting on it in the first place.

However, as the coach turned toward Melissa to yell at her, you noticed something in her back pocket... was that allergy medication? You felt an intense urge to swipe the box right then and there, just to find out what would happen... so you did. You took it and you didn't tell anyone. At least, not until after the plane landed.

"So... uh... I think I did a bad thing..."
"What did you do?" Alice asks.
"I took this from the coach's pocket..." you said, holding up the box.
"Harriet?"
"Yes Alice?"
"Is that Coach Monaghan's allergy medication?"
"Yes, yes it is."
"So let me get this straight," Melissa asks, "you took away the coach's allergy medication in a country full of cats?"
"Yes, yes I did."
"AWESOME!!" Faith yelled, after making sure that the coach was out of earshot. "You're like some sort of evil mastermind!"
"Heh heh heh, let the sneezing commence..."

A Battle Of Tactical Blades

Type: Game Review
Time: After MD 2

Atheara 1 - 1 Sarzonia
Erna Linotrovski (89') / Jolene Walter-Campos (12')

The match was, in a way, a bloodbath. Many tactical shots were made, a heroic plan of action, and a difficult enemy to top it all off. Sarzonia was a team that cannot be underestimated, as they sit first in the group. So everyone was nervous, as their first game was a draw. They would do their best of course, but they don't expect a win over Sarzonia. Which is why the coach, Anandria, decided to give everyone some pep talk before the match would begin. This would prove vital later.

"I know every single one of you is nervous, and i am too. But i want to say, you all can do it. I know you can. All it takes is one kick to the net, from each one of you. One goal would do. Do not let one in, and win. Let one in, and you draw or lose. That's all there is to it. Now i want you all to go out there and make yourselves proud! You weren't chosen for nothing!" It felt the air was lifted from it's tense atmosphere into one of encouragement, and excitement. The match had later begun.

The beginning was not so great. An amazing shot by Jolene Walter-Campos in the 12th minute in the first half had give Sarzonia the lead, despite being covered by three people. Atheara was down, and now they need to equalize. Minutes had gone by and so far it was still 0 - 1. It seems Atheara was going to take a loss, until literally near the end of the match. In the 89th minute, Atheara was given a corner. Lille decided to take it, as she had a good feeling something will happen. She shot the ball to the center of the penalty box, and a header from Erna Linotrovski would give Atheara the draw.

Now that the tough match was out of the way, Anandria decides to finally swap out with the rotation system. This is the final confirmed roster. As if it was a completely different team that was playing from Atheara.
Stetka Van Idihouen (24 Y/O, GK)
Kyria Cerestia (25 Y/O, RB)
Feliana Von Airenburthen (26 Y/O, CB)
Nila Wattenhoulst (25 Y/O, CB)
Maria Countings (26 Y/O, LB)
Riana Tresselhouwe (25 Y/O, DMF)
Isska Neveril - Paiska (26 Y/O, DMF)
Afierra Kiralski (27 Y/O, CMF)
Erna Linotrovski (26 Y/O, CMF)
Theresia Von Guhender (24 Y/O, CMF)
Ayera Livendottir (24 Y/O, CF)

We now prepare for Tylastrona.

Mollies Opens Jenna Raven Cup With Mixed Results

The Mollies stumbled in the opening game of the Jenna Raven Cup. This is only the third athletic delegation to travel for a multiversal event since the formation of the Union while the ones before them only traveled out a week prior. Arriving in Saterun, the team did not know where their match was going to take place. The location of the match was only known the morning of which they had to scramble to the bus and were escorted to Sultan Stadium. The FSF apologized for the confusion and promise that it will not happen again. Opening the game, The Mollies were still recovering from the morning's events which enabled Saterun to get out to a 2-0 lead at halftime. The Mollies regained composure but let in a late goal by Marta Canbrera to end the game 3-0 in favor of Saterun. "This is not how we should ever start an international tournament," said Head Coach Puleng Temitope. "I expected some hiccups as this is our first foray into multiversal competition and an opening loss is not surprising. However, not knowing the stadium that you're playing in until the morning is unacceptable and unprofessional." The comment will undoubtedly cause headaches for both the Felinetopian Foreign Affairs Office and the Leopard Territory Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The second match of the cup went much more smoothly for The Mollies. First, they were welcoming a team into the Feline world and Felinetopia at Sonic Stadium in Kampawla rather than traveling. This is the first time since the collapse of the previous Felinetopian regime that an athletic team outside the Feline World has visited it. Many Cheetahs were caught off guard and some were even frightened by the presence of humans. Many heard about humans visiting in the past but have rarely seen one, never mind many in public. Fortunately, Kohnheadian fans did not cause any incidents in Kampawla and enjoyed the match. In the match itself, The Mollies went down early as Kohnhead's striker scored in 12th minute. Kohnhead's defense remained strong through the first half allowing just 1 shot which wasn't even on target. The second half was different story. A rejuvenated Mollies were able to find each other and Saga Chaput finds the back of the net in the 56th minute. Prisca Darbinyah then made her debut in the 74th minute, replacing Nevada Blau on the pitch. She made an immediate impact as she was able to score a beauty from the left side of the penalty box in the 78th minute, pushing The Mollies to victory 2-1. Felinetopia's next match is against the top of the group, Eshialand, at Sonic Stadium in Kampawla, Cheetah Republic.

Brenda Allison just got something she knew her team needed to work on after a 1-1 draw against Atheara. Holding onto a lead.

The Stars earned a lead with a 12th minute brace by forward Jolene Walter-Campos despite being marked by three women, but couldn't add on to the tally. The Stars seemed to weather the storm well as Atheara outshot the Stars 15-9, with goalkeeper Marcé George making six saves. However, with the fourth official prepping the digital sign that would display three for the number of minutes of stoppage time to be added to the end of the second half, Atheara earned an 89th minute corner.

Forward Lille Danshouvera set the ball up and surveyed the scene, then struck the ball with authority toward the centre of the box. Fellow forward skied, timed her jump perfectly, and banged the ball past George to give the hosts a 1-1 draw that seemed improbable for a long time.

Sure, Sarzonia (1-1-0, four points) remained in first place in Group A, just one point clear of Tylastrona, who defeated Banija, but Allison talked about missed opportunities as she addressed her team in the locker room.

"We need to do a better job of finishing chances," she said, rueing a Carly Wilcox free kick that sailed just over the goal in the 43rd minute that would have given the Stars some badly needed breathing room. There weren't as many chances as Atheara had, but they seemed to be better quality shots. There was also the 56h minute would-be Walter-Campos marker that met with the disapproval of the Fleftic lineswoman's offside flag. It drew the ire of midfielder and team captain Joelle Burns, who drew a caution for dissent as a result.

But more importantly, Allison noted, was the defence. She'd made one defensive substitution, adding defender Geraldine Tambor to sub for Lois Robinson, but she declined to make another substitution until the 84th minute when she sent on Virginia Ashfield for Winnie Taunton. She wanted to preserve the narrow victory, but it was the freshly-added Ashfield who inadvertently dribbled the ball past the touch line in her own defensive end when Allison was calling for her to just launch the ball toward the Atheara end of the pitch. Allison chose to console her defender instead of chide her.

"Mistakes happen. Physical, mental," she told a disconsolate Ashfield. "Just learn for next time, OK?"

Allison was aware she could afford to be more sanguine than you might expect for a World Cup-type atmosphere. The good will she'd earned for leading the Stars to an improbable victory in the Wonder Cup was still present. Then there was the rivalry match against Banija coming up. Even at 0-1-1, the Wanawake Kadongo Kamu were a dangerous foe. And, besides, even though the nations were on friendly terms, the sporting teams were fierce rivals no matter the sport or who played it.

"It's Banija, c'mon now!" Walter-Campus said when asked if her team would have any difficulty getting motivated for a side that was still seeking its first victory of the Jenna Raven Cup. The rivalry alone would ensure that there was no such thing as a trap match whenever the Stars played a team representing Banija.

Incorporated Football Federation officials announced the match against the Wanawake Kadongo Kamu has already sold out at Nottingham Pavilion, and they were "actively" seeking ways to add temporary seating to accommodate the additional demand. IFF Chairman Zack Wilson said they were also exploring the prospect of playing in Dave Wilson Stadium, as Franz Braddock Stadium is currently undergoing maintenance.

JENNA RAVEN CUP- WOMEN'S WORLD CUP 14

UNEXPECTED DEFEAT

Pratapgadh 2-1 Srednjaci
49' Viktorija Terzić (1:1)
IVAN BOŽIĆ :Dear viewers, welcome to the show dedicated to women's football. Of course it's about the Jenna Cup. Our national team was defeated in the second round, but we must say the unexpected. Unexpectedly, the Pratapgadh team actually came without a roster. We don’t even know who we played against. The ball hovered in the air or just rolled on the ground. In such conditions it was no wonder we lost at all.
The only goal in the match for our team was scored by Viktorija Terzić.

Let's take a closer look at our players.

LINE UP

GK Jelena Jukić - 26 y - NK Bistua Nuova-Jelena is our first goalkeeper. She plays for NK Bistua Nuova, with whom she was second in the league last season and won the national cup. She was named the best goalkeeper for last season. This season she played in the IBA Champions League with NK Bistua Nuova. She conceded 41 goals in 20 games, which is a lot, as many as 2.05 goals per game. She is unfortunately this season characterized as the weakest link of NK Bistua Nuova in the IBA Champions Legue qualifiers.

LB Danijela Majić - 23 y - NK Bistua Nuova-Unlike Jelena Jukić, Danijela is a pillar of our team's defense, she is a pillar of the defense of NK Bistua Nuova, but also of our mixed football team. She is one of the footballers who have the most appearances for national teams, mixed and women's. She scored 4 goals for the national team and all four were scored with a header. He rarely makes a mistake about reading a great game. Very intelligent, physically very ready but stable in the game.

CB Ivana Žimić - 26 y - NK Dormatisi Blue Stars - With her games for Dormatisi, she drew the attention of both menus, the mixed national team but also the women's national team. Ivana Žimić won the championship with Dormatisa last season. She is one of the few from that lineup who remained at the club after winning the championship. Recall, the club was abandoned by eight standard players due to disagreements with the management. That was exactly the reason why Dormatisi played catastrophically badly in the qualifications for the IBA Champions League. Žimić is one of the few bright spots of that team.

CB Tanja Franković- 27 y - NK Turbina Taru -Although Turbina from Taru has the potential to be a big and strong club, last season in the championship they were only fifth with a big gap for the first three teams. The only one who managed to break through and get an invitation to play in the first team is Tanja Franković. An amazing technician, great with the ball.

RB Zorana Šutić - 25 y - NK Kula- After the NK Kula players were fourth in the championship, it was expected that the club would have perhaps more female players in the first team. However, only Zoran gained the trust. Zorana often runs into the attack and her precise passes from the corner helped the team to score a lot of goals. She had 11 assists and 9 of them were from the corner. A great runner, she covers her side of the field very well. Her transfer to a stronger club is expected this year, and it is rumored that she could transfer to NK Plava Laguna.

CDM Magda Roberta Eralić - 25 y- NK Pionir Podgora- Magda is the only player who received an invitation from the manager to come from the autonomous province of Northern Slavonia. But she got the invitation for a reason. An incredibly talented player who will probably adorn the ranks of Dormatisi Blue Stars from next season. She is the best player in this position that women's football in Srednjaci has. Min Ho and Magda are two players who have no competition in this position. Many elephants say that she is even better than Min Ho, but that she needs more stronger matches in order to develop even better.

LW Davida Zimmer - 24 y - NK Bistua Nuova /captain - what to write about this football player without knowing about her. The best female football player in Srednjaca in history. One of the best in the world and in the position of Left Wing, I dare to say, the best left wing in the world. Her masterpieces have entered the annals of football books. Her movements, speed and creation of free space are studied at academies. Despite being great, she failed to win the championship from Bistua Nuova. In qualifying for the IBA Champions League, her stats are amazing. Without her, Bistua Nuova would not have won the national cup or won eight matches in the Champions League qualifiers.
She plays in both national teams, mixed and of course the women's national team. She already has a goal and an assist in the Jenna Reven Cup.

RW Leona Jurković - 19 y- NK Dormatisi Blue Stars- The greatest football talent in our country. Played at the position of Takanobu Tavano. As she says, he is her football role model. Leona is great, fast, precise. Her balls seem to have eyes. It is amazing with what precision this young football player assists. Leona is 178 cm tall, and she runs an incredible 11:01 in the 100 meters, which is extremely fast for a sprinter athlete. Leona, in addition to assisting brilliantly and running fast, also has a good shot on goal. But her lack of experience is often an obstacle to shooting when she has the chance.

CF Viktorija Terzić- 25 y - NK Dormatisi Blue Stars- Viktorija Terzić got the advantage for the first team despite the fact that there may have been better solutions. However, in the second qualifying match of the IBA Champions League, Lidija Mance was injured. in the match against Najdovo FC, in the 69th minute Lidija ruptured the cruciate ligament and had to undergo surgery. Viktorija Terzić saw her opportunity to prove herself and jumped in instead. Viktoria did her role well and is playing better and better. She was rated as the third best Dormatisi player at the moment. She scored for the national team against Pratapgadh.

ST Petra Marinović - 24 y - NK Bistua Nuova- an amazing goal machine. The best striker in women's football currently in Srednjaci. In a duet with Hana Vučemilović, she makes a deadly combination at the very top of the attack. She scored 18 goals in the IBA Champions League qualifiers out of 41 goals scored by the entire team. She added two assists to her account.
For the women's national football team, she scored the first goal in the history of Srednjaci. Against Abanhfleft in the 28th minute, she scored a goal for a 1-0 lead.

ST Hana Vučemilović- 25 y - NK Bistua Nuova-Hana Vučemilović scored 12 goals for Dormatisi Blue Stars last season. After winning the championship with Dormatisi, she was not happy with the new conditions offered to her. She moved to NK Bistua Nuova for 9.3 million dalats in the next two seasons. Obviously that move was something good she did. In qualifying for the IBA Champions League, she scored six goals and assisted three more times. She got the advantage over Veronika Satara from Dormatisi Blue Stars. She is still waiting for her's first goal in this competition.

Continued Frustration

HUElavia held to a draw in what could have been a promising match.

Baggieland 2-2 HUElavia
(REDACTED 40', REDACTED 82' | Hamada-Navarro 18' (P), Lopes Lemos 71')

HUElavia played another match in the Women's World Cup, and once again was left frustrated with the results they received. Playing on the road, the team wore the Away Special Uniform for the match, wanting to get their first points of the competition. The match had potential, but was spoiled on different occasions. The opening goal came in the 18th minute, when REDACTED fouled Yamane in the box, where Hamada-Navarro stepped up and sent REDACTED the wrong way, as she put the ball into the top corner of the goal, making it 0-1. In the 40th minute, REDACTED threw a ball in, which was quickly crossed by REDACTED, where REDACTED towered over Gutierrez to head the ball past Marin to make it 1-1. The second half had both teams attacking, and in the 71st minute, Lopes Lemos (in for Braz-Bittencourt) got the ball from Gagne-Leblanc, and was past REDACTED to go one-on-one with REDACTED. She juked past the goalie and slid the ball into the goal, making it 1-2. Despite the efforts, in the 82nd minute, REDACTED took a corner kick, which went over the players in the box, and REDACTED took a low shot that slid past Marin into the goal, making it 2-2. Despite some attempts by the HUElavian ladies, it was not enough, and the match ended in a draw, at least earning the first point of this tournament.

The next match will be against group leaders Baker Park, which will be played at Estadio Nacional (100,000) in Curumba, which is expected to be sold out. For the starting XI, Ramos will start in goal once again, with Yawen starting for Ezwa, Belluci Cabral starting over Mizuno, and Di Stefano over Yamane, while the rest will be the normal starters for the match. Manager Leonardo Conavacio had this to say: "It's been a difficult tournament so far, especially where the team is reeling from conceding 4 goals in 2 matches. There is promise in these ladies, but more work is to be done in order to bring out the very best in these players. I have confidence the team can turn around the situation and be able to contest for a spot in the knockout phase of the Women's World Cup. One can only hope in these ladies, and the fans will be looking forward to cheering them all along the way.

FORCA HUELAVIA! VAMOS HUELAVIA! GO HUELAVIA!

The Football Fallacies
with The Man from Markovsky

WHY AM I STILL SURPRISED?

Hello and welcome to The Football Fallacies. Right, so it looks like the women's national team is set to put me on yet another emotional rollercoaster. Oh, well. Can't complain about it this time around. I asked for the team to step up, and as far as this match is concerned, step up they did. And we can't even wave it off because of the standard of the team. I just can't sit here and say, "Oh, it's just Lisander. This was always going to be an easy win." No, it's not! Out of all the teams in this competition, Abanhfleft is the one that should be most wary about potentially messing up what could be our greatest shot at winning something yet. It's easy to say, "Oh, it's just an invitational tournament. Winning here is barely even silverware." I mean, how fucking spoiled could you be to even think about letting slip the chance to win a trophy, no matter how small or convoluted it is? The way I've heard some people saying that we should just do the bare minimum in this tournament, you would think that we're bloody Omerica, making a mockery of an entire tournament when other teams would literally kill just to be in their shoes. Bloody entitled bastards...

Anyway, since Lisander is like one of those nations where we're friendly-friendly but we also have a healthy friendly rivalry thing going on, we played host to them at the May 26 Stadium in Riuwiee. I mean, it is big, I'll give the capital that. But sometimes big isn't always better, you know? I am specifically talking about the crowd noise. Sure, they've got almost 72,000 people crowding into the May 26 Stadium but have you heard an actual crowd in there during an actual live game? It sounds more like a cathedral, even they're playing the guys from Releinthi. Compare that to something like the Stadium of the Old Forester. Sure. there's only 40,000 or so of us green-clad bastards in there but once we get a chant going in there, you're up against a fucking wall of noise! Good luck trying to think while your ears are being assaulted by an off-key rendition of "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow", let alone try to adjust tactics. Yeah, the difference between crowd noise in Riuwiee and Markovsky is literally night and day. But because Markovsky isn't in the Capital Islands (and also because the Old Forester's capacity is below 50,000), we're not even in the conversation for host venues for the Jenna Raven Cup. Who would have thought that the SFA are a bloody bunch of greedy and corrupt bastards, eh?

On to the game itself then. We didn't find the back of the net until the second half, but don't let that make you think that the first half was an absolute snorefest. On the contrary! Our girls were pretty much mounting a 45-minute long assault on the Lisanderan goal. I mean, nominally Josefine Vitagliano is supposed to be a central attacking midfielder in Kate Bernanos' 4-2-3-1 formation, but she's been acting like the false nine/support striker that she wants to be, meaning we're pretty much playing a 4-2-2-2 at this point. And Josefine's been causing her fair share of chaos on our opponents' defenses so far. While it didn't pay off against Srednjaci, it's paid off against Lisander. Sure, it didn't pay off in the first half, but she set the foundations of what was to come, and that's just about as much as I can expect these girls to do. Come the start of the second half, the women of Lisander were showing some signs of tiredness due to having to chase after both Vitagliano and Hiroko Kellerman, and with barely two minutes played the two of them did a one-two pass and Josefine opened the scoring. That goal must have really shook Lisander because, within five minutes of Vitagliano scoring, we were back at it again, pressuring their goal and keeping their goalkeeper so busy that she was bound to slip up at least and allow someone on our team to capitalize on said mistake. And capitalize Sohaila Magomedova did. After the Lisanderan keeper saved yet another attempt from Kellerman, Magomedova happened to be in the right place at the right time to put the rebound in the back of the net.

Anyway, that's all that there is for me now. If you've got any comments or thoughts of your own about the Lisander game or predictions for the match against Pratapgadh then feel free to leave them down below. Until then, I've been the Man from Markovsky, hoping that for once I wouldn't have to be disappointed in my country.

Continue Through The Struggle

Type: Game Review
Time: After MD 3

Sarzoclava 5 - 1 Pascafia
Jenni Guyton (13' ; 45' ; 67') Diane Hawkins (26' ; 89') / Dina Urafi (8')

Pascafia 2 - 2 Hebitaka
Amari Parta Obolo (34' ; 67') / Unknown (18' ; 80')

Two matches, one point. Akena was not surprised after all. That 5 - 1 loss was infuriating, yet she knows how limited Pascafia is when it comes to talent, and these were the players the country had to give. At least that draw against Hebitaka was a game full of show. Three of five of Sarzoclava's goals against Pascafia were free kicks, and that was embarassing. Defence really needed to be trained, and goalkeeping. Their offense was good enough, but they all need experience.

The game against Hebitaka though was different. Both played defensively for some reason. Hebitaka took the lead on the 18th minute with a precise shot to the bottom left, desipte the efforts of two women, it was not enough. Pascafia would equalize in the 34th minute where Amari scored a freekick of her own. The first half ends in a 1 -1 scenario. In the second half, at the 67th minute, Amari had scored again. This time from a header from a corner by Yeyani. At the 80th minute, Hebitaka had equalized by a goal that would have been disallowed, but was allowed, that wasn't supposed to happen. It was 2 - 2.

Akena wasted not much time, stating that next match, the original starting 11, would be starting.
17 Elana Samero (27 Y/O, GK)
29 Melana Fafen Onari (26 Y/O, RB)
85 Anela Istrina Laleya (24 Y/O, CB)
21 Inija Kanaro (25 Y/O, CB)
56 Biruna Wawani Laley (27 Y/O, LB)
61 Tena Erantila (Captain, 27 Y/O, DMF)
99 Ferisa Erantila (25 Y/O, CMF)
17 Serofi Ohana Manorita (24 Y/O, CMF)
73 Yeyani Alamiri Tanta (26 Y/O, CMF)
1 Hanase Ipora Nanta (26 Y/O, SS)
32 Amari Parta Obolo (24 Y/O, CF)

She hoped the team would get some wins soon. The team were third with only two points to their name. She stated "The team Pascafia has can win the whole thing. It's just conditions and expectations are not met, which is expected from the scenario we are in. I hope the team, and with my coaching, can at least win one game."

This RP will be told from right back Sarah Silver's perspective.

Before the match against Felinetopia, you couldn't help but feel guilty about what was about to happen to your coach. You could've told Harriet to give back her allergy medication, but no, you didn't. You let her take it, and now--

"SILVER!!!"
Never mind, she deserves it. "Yes Coach Monaghan?"
"Have you seen my Allerjaz?"
Come on Sarah, it's just one little lie... you tell yourself, trying to convince yourself that you were doing the right thing for the team. "You take Allerjaz?"
"I'll take that as a no... okay, thanks anyway."

What may have been seen as the coach being somewhat reasonable was actually just her being too worried about her allergy meds to get mad... on the bright side, she wasn't angry.

About ten minutes later, the match began, and the first half wasn't really too eventful. The team mostly played by coach's rules while they bided their time for...

"Ah-CHOO!"

Bingo. And so, in the 40th minute, the match really began.

"Ah-CHOO! Ah-CHOO! Seriously, where is my Allerjaz?"
"You mean this?" Harriet replies, mockingly waving the box of Allerjaz in front of Monaghan's face.

"COPELAND!! I SHOULD'VE KNOWN!! GIVE IT BACK!"
"I don't think I will. You deserve this."
"WHAT THE HECK!! YOU'RE ALL GONNA PAY FOR THIS!! Ah-CHOO!"
"If by 'pay for this', you mean win, then yes." As she says this, you swipe the ball from Nevada Blau, run it all the way up to the midfield, and score.

"THAT'S IT, I'M DONE WITH YOU GIRLS! I thought you had potential, but... ah-CHOO! ...you can't even seem to remember your POSITIONS! I'M DONE WITH YOU!!" She storms out of the stadium, still violently sneezing.

Finally, you and the team were free of that crazy coach forever! Now, you could actually focus on having fun.

The score remained 0-1 until the 66th, when Avery got the ball away from Saima Stenberg and passed it to Faith, who almost instantly shot it past Kunto Okafor to make it 0-2.

The Mollies did get on the board in the 75th as Mukami Mwangi ran straight past Clara Donaldson ("Don't beat yourself up about it, cheetahs are the fastest animal on land after all!") and passed the ball to Emer Clery, who easily put it past Elizabeth to make it 1-2. However, it was too little too late, and Eshialand had won the match!

Felinetopia - 1 (Clery 75')
Eshialand - 2 (Silver 41', Krupp 66')

The next day...

"So... now what?" Faith asked on the flight from Kampawla to Cincinnati. "Who can coach us now?"
"Well, there's always Melissa," you answer, "but I'm sure she already has someone else in mind."
"Actually, I don't think there's a single woman in all of Eshialand who could coach us..."
"Emphasis on the word woman?" You whisper to her.
"Mmhmm."
"So there is someone you've been thinking of?"
"Mmhmm."
Anything I say is IC unless proven otherwise by a court of law.

BP women getting it done in JRC
by Fiona Devlin, National Soccer Writer

The Baker Park Women's National Team have reached the halfway point of the Jenna Raven Cup group stage as one of the four sides with at least 7 points from the first three matches; with a trip to Baggieland ahead of the final two fixtures at home, Liam Sullivan's squad will probably lean heavily on experience in the starting XI for the fourth matchday as they look to maintain a comfortable gap to third place.

Kelsey Vickers turned away 5 of the 6 shots on goal at the Estadio Nacional in Curumba against HUElavia to earn a split of the points, as Karrie Price equalized in the 61st minute after Aurora Conti-Esposito had opened the scoring within 3 minutes of the second half re-start.

Emily Bruce, April Syzmanski and Amy Knight all made their first NT starts after having made their debuts off the bench; Hayley Gibson replaced Knight with 16 minutes left as BP looked for the winning goal that never materialized.

Sullivan commented upon the performance of the 'new girls' over the first three matches.

"We've always had a preference for bringing cappies on as substitutes before putting them into the lineup, which has been pointed out several times that the staff just like to make the regulars give away money, (laughter) but we've seen no issues from the newcomers, which is what we expect. They listen, learn, accept direction during training, it's mainly a question of figuring out minutes, making sure the vets are getting their opportunities."

[OOC explanation of IC insider jargon--a "cappie" is an uncapped player brought into a training camp who has certain 'rules' to follow for their hazing; a player who makes their debut NT appearance as a sub must come on the pitch with one sock worn lower than the other, but after the match receives a symbolic "payment" from the starting XI who chip in a CBP$1 coin as part of the "Captain's Purse". This is also given (it's doubled in this instance) to a player that scores a goal on their maiden NT start, even if they have sub appearance(s) to their credit, which follows the traditional shower from the water bottles that every player--regardless of their tenure--receives on scoring their first international goal.]

The manager then moved on to the upcoming fixture. "We're going to approach it like it's a battle for top spot. Look at results in other groups, we're all sort of working our way through this, although I personally believe we have an edge based on our overall setup. But we won't underestimate a side playing at home for their survival, essentially. We want every point we can get and we have a lot of confidence right now with these ladies."

Offensive Or Defensive Team?

Type: Game Review
Time: After MD 3

Atheara 5 - 0 Tylastrona
Ayera Livendottir (12' ; 45+1') Afierra Kiralski (67 ; 78' ; 90+2') / None

An absolute beautiful game for Atheara, as now the lead on first place in Group A over Sarzonia by Goal difference, as head to head result was a draw. Ayera Livendottir would help Atheara take the lead with a brace on the 12th minute, as she kicks the ball past the Goalkeeper, Samantha Tsukomoki. Ayera would also score in the first minute of added stoppage time for the first half, as she heads the ball in from a rebound that hit the crossbar, the first shot was from Theresia Von Guhender. A 2 - 0 lead into the first half was magic for such a defensive team. That lead would be increased, as at the 67th minute, Afierra Kiralski scored a freekick.

3 - 0, Anandria couldn't believe all of this. How in the world does Atheara have a 3 - 0 lead? No one knows. Atheara in it's entirety of football history for women never had a 3 - 0 lead. But now she has seen the breaking of a record. She smirked at the current result, there was no way Atheara was losing this match. At the 78th minute, Afierra somehow scored again, this time by hitting the post and rebound into the net. Everyone there was going insane at that point. And at the second minute of extra stoppage time, it happened. Afierra score again! This time it was nothing fancy, just a tap in by an open net.

And there it was. 5 - 0. That beats the mens team record for most goals scored in a clean sheet match. Anandria was laughing to herself after the match. This was a very interesting turn. "How far will you go, Frozen Regiment?" She also announced the return of the Original Starting 11.
Irena Svaneska (25 Y/O, GK)
Olivia Rivendottir (26 Y/0, RB)
Alexandra Neier - Heitsdel (27 Y/O, CB)
Diana Kurettengard (26 Y/O, CB)
Rena Lyanol - Hastens (24 Y/O, LB)
Leona Acrelia - Litsenhower (24 Y/O, DMF)
Jennifer Innings (25 Y/O, DMF)
Afierra Kiralski (27 Y/O, CMF)
Erna Linotrovski (26 Y/O, CMF)
Mediya Peterov - Trenska (24 Y/O, CMF)
Lille Danshouvera (27 Y/O, CF)

They now train and prepare for Banija.

JENNA RAVEN CUP- WOMEN'S WORLD CUP 14

UNEXPECTED DRAW

IVAN BOŽIĆ : Dear viewers, welcome to the show dedicated to women's football. Of course it’s about the Jenna Raven Cup. Our national team opened the qualifying tournament with a victory at home. But in the next two matches we just weren’t lucky. Defeat and a draw. Lisander is not a team you should play a draw against but it is generally difficult to play against teams where you don’t know who’s name or anything about them. Our team was led scoring by Petra Marinović, assisted by Danijela Majić. In the 52nd minute, Danijela Majić took a brilliant corner kick and Petra Marinović was the highest in the jump and scored for 1: 0.
After that, the goal scored by Hana Vučemilović was annulled due to the alleged offside. Although Hana was in line with the home defender of Lisander team, the assistant referee raised the flag with a delay, after the ball was already in the goal. Our bench protested but the decision was not changed.
In the 78th minute, Lisander managed to equalize despite the obvious handball of Lisander's attacker. Again, our bench protested, but even this time there was no change in the decision. The goal was conceded.

Lisander 1-1 Srednjaci
52' Petra Marinović, assist Danijela Majić (0:1)
78' Unknown player ( 1:1)

IVAN BOŽIĆ : With us in the studio is Davida Zimmer, the team captain and one of the best football players in the world at the moment. Davida welcome.

DAVIDA : Greetings to you in the studio and to all the spectators in front of the small screens.

REPORTER: Davida, the situation is not what we expected in our group for now.

DAVIDA: We have three more games ahead of us to play. We need to be more concentrated and better. In the last two meetings we had really bad luck. Against Pratapgadh we lost in a game we dominated. They had three shots on goal out of those three, two went into the goal. We, on the other hand, shot seven times and hit only once. You're just out of luck. Yesterday we were dominant again, scoring two goals, one annulled. Received a goal ,clearly and entirely irregular.

REPORTER: That's what I wanted to ask, we all saw that striker of Lisander was playing with his hand. He put the ball on his leg with his hand. How is it possible that it is recognized?

DAVIDA: The head referee obviously didn't see the move in that crowd because he was behind the Lisander's player but the assistant referee saw it clearly and didn't signal.

REPORTER: Does that mean the assistant referee was wrong again?

DAVIDA: Yes, the assistant referee made a complete mistake and gave Lisander a point.

REPORTER : We hope that the next matches will be much better.
We need to get back to the IBA Champions league a bit. Behind us are the qualifications for the IBA Champions League. Unfortunately, your team did not manage to achieve a placement, but the historical success is a reality when it comes to Srednjaci. We participated in that competition for the first time, out of five clubs, two passed.

DAVIDA: Yes, a great success for us. Even when you take into account that Mladost melarit were really close to the playoffs, the success is greater. unfortunately we failed to pass due to a series of unfortunate circumstances but we were not disappointed either. I think we did a really good job at this point.

REPORTER: we look at your group.

REPORTER : the specificity of the group is that the draw awarded three of our clubs in the same group.

DAVIDA: Yes, that was really interesting. Namely, NK Dinamo is the current champion in men's football. Youth was second and we were second in the women’s soccer league.

REPORTER: just to explain to the spectators who did not follow, Athletique Nationale and Dinamo went to the main draw and Orkendrem 97 to the playoffs.

DAVIDA: And they passed. They are in the main draw. The group, as you can see, was extremely strong. All three teams are in the Champions League.

REPORTER: you made a great result in the first round ...

DAVIDA: oh yes, we beat Dinamo. It was a solid and strong match. I would say a game of nerves. The defenses did a great job and it was difficult for both us and them to create an opportunity. But we managed to score.

REPORTER: You actually created the action and assisted Petri Marinovic for the only goal in the game.
Did you watch the Champions League draw?

DAVIDA: I didn't watch, we had training before the game but I heard about the groups.

REPORTER: Let's look at the groups of our representatives.

GROUP B
Esrille Town #8 BPE
Cavas Ziv Tazior #14 BEL
NK DINAMO KATANIJA #20 SRE
Szalics City # 28 BRU

GROUP G
Athletique Nationale #7 BRI
NKC Varea #10 NEK
Berezina #22 WSN
NK ČELIK RADUČ #30 SRE

REPORTER : Čelik is tougher group than Dinamo, what do you think?

DAVIDA: Of course it is. Two clubs from the TOP 10 are in the group with Čelik. Athletique and Varea are in top 10. This is a very difficult group.

REPORTER: You played against Athletique Nationale, what can you say about them?

DAVIDA: We lost both games. We lost 1: 0 at home and 5: 2 away. It’s hard to play against them. They play modern and fast football. They have trouble's with skipping the game, log distance balls into space, there are a little weaker if you play like that. They just dont't like that kind of game . But if you fall into their rhythm of play like we did in the second game then there is no salvation for you. They are simply too good. They are favorites for the finals for sure.

REPORTER: Dinamo?

DAVIDA : as time goes on so Dinamo plays better and better. They are a strong team, they have great players in all positions and I believe they will go into the knockout phase.

REPORTER: Davida, thank you for this visit. We wish you good luck and hope for victories.

DAVIDA: Thank you for the invitation.

"I know my breasts are quite evident. I was made aware of this since I was 13 and people wouldn't stop staring at me. It was painful sometimes, both phisically and emotionally. But they need to be completely, I mean completely blind to say that was handball. My arms were close within my body, but that's not even the point. It completely hit my breasts. If much, it was a 'boob-ball', but no way it was a handball. Anyways, I'm too happy we got another point. That means it's not over yet."

The second victory of our football team in the qualifications for the Women's World Cup 14. Away at Baggieland, our footballers managed to beat the hosts 2-0. From the beginning of the game, our football players dominated and managed to win. The home players threatened in several attacks but failed to do much damage to our players.
The first goal is the work of Sunar Bjelov on the addition of Laura Trešković. Laura won a lot of space in the middle of the field. She assisted to Sunara with a deep ball for a goal of 1: 0.
After 78 minutes, a counter attack by Blanka Stošić is converted into a decent free kick opportunity. And with an accurate ball she assists for the second goal. The executor is Roberta Tadić.

Our national team holds a great second place for now. Two wins and a defeat. But we believe in the passage of the group. We have three games ahead of us, two of which are on our home field.

One thing felt certain about the matchup between the Sarzonian women's national football team and Banija in the Jenna Raven Cup that was moved to Dave Wilson Stadium in Woodstock due to the intense demand for tickets.

The match was sure to be yet another instant classic.

From that perspective, the scoreless draw between the teams that kept the overall mark for the rival women's football teams level at 1-1-1 certainly fit the bill. There was back and forth action. There were shots aplenty, but it proved to be a terrific day for both goalkeepers. Sarzonia's Marcé George made six saves while her Wanawake Kadongo Kamu counterpart made five stops.

Offensively, however, Jolene Walter-Campos and Carly Wilcox both rued missed scoring chances, as Walter-Campos fired high over the crossbar for a goal kick in the 13th minute when she'd worked her way free of the Banijan defence and was in alone on the keeper. For Wilcox, it was a direct free kick in the 28th minute that only a miraculous diving save by the Banijan goalkeeper prevented a sure goal that would have electrified the 49,358 at the Sarzonian national stadium.

For manager Brenda Allison, she even admitted after the match that she was "fired up" for the opportunity to play in the cavernous confines of Dave Wilson Stadium.

"How can you not be?" she said in an interview after the official press conference. "It's our sport's Mecca here in Sarzonia. It's the largest stadium. It's seen some historic matches, including the AOCAF semifinals and the World Cup third place playoff [for World Cup 57, which Sarzonia hosted with Cafundéu]. Plus, it's hosted three World Cups of Masters. This is definitely the place anyone dreams of playing in on the big stage."

Stadium officials suggested after the match that had Jenna Raven Cup organisers scheduled Dave Wilson Stadium from the beginning, it would have been sold out.

"I don't know about the other matches," Dave Wilson Stadium customer service manager Frieda Washburn said. "Nottingham Pavilion seems to be appropriate for the other matches. But Sarzonia v. Banija deserves the largest stage no matter which teams are playing."

All but a few hundred seats in the lower bowl of the stadium were occupied. Tarps covered the upper concourse and the so-called nosebleed sections in Dave Wilson Stadium.

The draw meant that Atheara's 5-0 victory over Tylastrona gave that team first place in the Group A table due to the overall goal differential tiebreaker. The Stars and Atheara played to a 1-1 draw on Matchday 2.

Elsewhere in the Jenna Raven Cup, Baker Park remained at the top of the Group B table after a 1-1 draw against HUElavia, whilst Raspotochje defeated Baggieland 2-0 away to cut the gap to one point. In Group C play, Abanhfleft jumped to the front of the pack with a 4-0 victory over Pratapgadh and Lisander held Srednjaci to a 1-1 draw. Eshialand defeated Felinetopia 2-1 and Saterun got the better of Kohnhead in Group D play, which saw Eshialand climb to top of the table. Group E saw Vangaziland defeat Kriegiersien 2-1 to claim top of the table honours whilst Galliena earned their first victory of the tournament with a 4-2 victory over St. Trinians. In Group F, Sarzoclava continue to be the surprise of the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Equestria that saw them remain the only team in the competition without a draw or a loss at 3-0-0. Pascafia and Hebitaka played to a 2-2 draw.

Wilcox admitted her team's failure to dent the back of the net against the Wanawake Kadongo Kamu was "frustrating," but said it was to be expected.

"We know that team's a great team," she said. "We've played them thrice. Of all the teams in women's football, they're the opponents we're the most familiar with by far. We knew it wasn't going to be an easy match. Sarzonia-Banija matches rarely are."
