RTL is the main public TV of Lisander. It is owned by the National Foundation of Communications (in Portuguese, FNAC), a public body funded partly by the Ministry of Education and Culture and by the Ministry of Science and Technology, but is free to sell advertising and also receives funding from donations. It is known for its refusal to broadcast variety shows. On-air advertising of consumer products is also forbidden. It transmits mostly News, Films and TV Series, Educational programs for Kids and Sports, with weekly talk shows and Sports Events. Currently, RTL airs three public signal channels: RTL (National Programmation, channel 1), RTL2 (Local Programmation and clashing sports events, channel 2) and RTL World (International Events, Shows in partnership with other broadcasters and foreign language subtitled shows, channel 36). On Pay-TV RTL have a Sports channel, as well as French and English channels, RTLF and RTLE.

While not the most popular neither the biggest in the nation, RTL is still widely recognized for having the best quality shows, and is still the favourite of those with 15 or more years of formal education.
