sixaxis ft. Joyce Amin - Mute (Confessions to a Lover)
Tune: TXT ft. Seori - 0X1=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You)

m: Nik Balthazar
l: Stephanie Browne-Johnson, Joyce Amin

Image
Front row, Left to right: Harits (Vocalist, Electric Guitar), Rendy (Vocalist), Faisal (Vocalist, Bass)
Back row, Left to right: Faris (Drummer), Dani (Rapper, Sequencer), Abrar (Vocalist, Keyboards), Heri (Keyboards)

After a year of withdrawal, mainly because of most of the members having to study for their high school and university examinations. Sixaxis, a boyband (not a boygroup, they play instruments) handpicked last year since MGP was cancelled in the midst of a COVID-19 outbreak, alongside the RR delegations, spent the beginning of the year trying to formulate a plan for their WorldVision participation, mainly because the time they need to spend for writing entries were mostly used to study.

“It was hell” Rendy said on RR’s Midnight Show interview, accompanied by the members nodding their heads in unison. “The [Anturian] delegation keeps bombarding us with phone calls, what entry will you send? What entry will you gonna do? How will you plan for staging and such? They definitely left no room for us to rest.”

“That’s when we thought of calling our mentor [Nik Balthazar, sic] Faisal got an eureka moment and immediately called him to inquire whether or not he has some unused demos left in his closet” Harits said with a laugh. Abrar would remark, “He said there’s this song, he wrote it with Joyce Amin, another singer he knew, the song is basically told from the POV of a mute person trying to confess to their crush that they really adore, uh, her, no matter what stands in their path.”

Faris giggled, and said “Personally i was in awe listening to this song, if you were in the recording room, listening to the demo you might see all our mouths wide open, in shock!” He continued, “We then asked Nik and Joyce to rewrite some parts to fit our vision, we were mostly in charge of composing and arranging, at the same time relaying infos to RR regarding staging, progresses, rehearsals and such. Thankfully most of our exams were already over, except Dani whose high school entrance exams were a bit later than our university exams.”

“And we all passed with flying colors” said Dani, his usual jokester self now becoming serious, “Since this song touches a very sensitive subject matter, disability, we have to be very careful with what goes on, what we behave, and personally, i hope that this song is able to... let you feel an emotion, the same way our hearts felt when we first listened to it in the recording studio.” Dani concludes.

LEGEND
H: sung by Harits
R: sung by Rendy
F: sung by Faris
A: sung by Abrar
J: sung by Joyce Amin

The stage is dark, prepped up for the band members after the Vartugian performance has finished. Soon after the Anturian postcard ends, the sound of drumsticks being hit together is heard, with the television audiences now being able to see a medium close-up shot of Faris’ hands being the culprit of the drumstick sound. He then hits his drum, being a sign for his fellow sixaxis members to unleash their power, complemented with fireworks bursting through the edges of the stage in a single beat of a drum.
The members continued to set the stage for their performance, with the members’ in charge of singing doing wordless vocalizations to complement the instrument that is being played, before a single sound is heard coming from the member’s mouths:

I want to love you

Now the stage is set, with the LED screen now showing an image of a wall tattered with random graffitis, however, the television audience is seeing all of this spectacle in black-and-white, complete with black bars above and below the canvas that is the Anturian performance. The camera, seemingly understanding the boys’ carefree attitude, also hinted by the worn down school outfits, fake cuts, bloodstains and bruises that they are wearing. mostly shot the members’ singing through a combination of close-up and medium close-up shots, intersprersed with shots of the members’ playing the instruments as they are switching turn to sing throughout the song.

As the singing continues, sixaxis seemingly understands that it is time for the pre-chorus to kick in, so they softened their instrument playing, preferring to let the others members’ vocal shine throughout the song, accompanied by sparsely-heard band, complementing each other like classical Latin manuscripts and their own elaborate lettering and leitmotifs. The camera continuing to shoot the same as before, mostly being close-up and medium close-up angles, as the pre-chorus begins to intensify, the lights become more and more haywire, as Faisal took the singing in another turn with his raspy rockstar impression, the camera then begin to show a dizzying array of shots pierced up together, before the television audiences can finally see that the performances are now in full screen, the black bars disappearing from their TV screen.

R:
Saw your face in broad daylight
Brought my soul to cloud nine
Saw you smiling to someone else
Sweeter than cabernet wine

H:
I'm walking the same path you
But you're taking another one
When i want you, you were not there
When i don't, you are here, sitting right there

A:
There's this feeling you'll ignore me
But can't rest before i have tried
This love transcends boundaries
Beyond metaphysical

F:
Might become insane soon
Might turn to a moron
How do i say i love you so?

Now the stage is lit brightly, a sheer contrast to the more intimate lighting that the audience saw in the beginning. Enabling the audience and the Carrelian broadcasting cameras to see the sheer emotions that sixaxis displayed through the song, letting their feelings show through, as if begging their significant other, their nameless lover, to pay attention to their own kind of love, something blissful yet something extraordinary. While the audience is witnessing their performance, probably in a trance-like state, the graffitis pictured on the LED screen would move about, albeit in a very subtle manner, mostly rotating by themselves.

And soon after, the post-chorus kicks in, being a combination of Harits’ live and Joyce’s pre-recorded vocals, mixed together into such harmony akin to milk and honey, since Harits is singing, he slowed down his electric guitar playing and let this soul, his feelings emanate from his vocal cord, seemingly in character as the mute protagonist of the song, wanting his lover to notice him.

F:
I already got some courage
But my mouth doesn't will
Can't speak to existence
For i am tongue-tied

R:
But i won't let it bring me down
My hands will speak for me
I hope you dream of me
Whenever, wherever
(I want to love you)

H/J:
Seandainya, seandainya
Ku bisa bicara
Kan kukatakan semua
I want to love you
Seandainya, seandainya
Ku bisa bicara
Kan kuluapkan semua
I want to love you
If only, and if only
I can speak
I'll say it out loud to you

If only, and if only
I can speak
I'll let it all out to you

Soon after, the entirety of the stage darkened, save for a single strobelight shining on Faisal, forcing the other members to be momentarily engulfed by the shadows. Faisal, contrary to his raspy register that signaled the chorus, now goes back to his usual voice, undeniably being more comfortable and in a more relaxed stage, soon after, the stage lights is then lit again as usual, signaling Rendy’s turn to sing, while the camera captures his singing, the camera would momentarily shoot the other members’ instrument playing, however, not too much as not to take Rendy’s spotlight as he is singing.

The pre-chorus continues as usual, with Abrar and Faisal singing, complete with the camera angles and stage set up, soon after, it’s time for the chorus to kick in.

F
Thought i’ll always be alone
My future will be lonesome
But seeing you
Makes me wanna pursue happiness

R
I'm walking a different path
But you're taking the path i last took
When i want you, you were away
When i don't, you thought that i went somewhere astray
Oh we

A:
There's this feeling you'll ignore me
But can't rest before i have tried
This love transcends boundaries
Beyond metaphysical

F:
Might become insane soon
Might turn to a moron
How do i say i love you so?

The boys’ sheer energy continues to be felt by the cheering crowd, seemingly undepleted, as if the audience in the Carrelian arena fed the sixaxis members’ their very own energy, a case of mutualistic symbiosis. The band, while hiding their personal nervousness and pressures, felt that the audience have charged their spirits up (also thanks to the sheer hugeness of the WorldVision stage, with their LED screen still showing the same moving graffiti image as displayed before), the cameraperson understands the situation that is happening in front of their eyes, with a combination of several close shots and some long shots showcasing the audience and the stage interspersed in between, with an alluring array of colorful strobe lights moving about, ensuring the stage remains seen.

However, after the chorus, the stage suddenly darkens.

F:
I already got some courage
But my mouth doesn't will
Can't speak to existence
For i am tongue-tied

R:
But i won't let it bring me down
My hands will speak for me
I hope you dream of me
Whenever, wherever
(I want to love you)

A single strobelight then shines on the stage, revealing Rendy and Harits on the floor in fetal position mirroring each other, with the camera shooting them from above, Rendy and Harits, still singing, sharing a line each, later helped each other stood up while Harits adjusts his electric guitar back in position, but not before Harits pulls something out of his pocket.

A single red rose, seemingly burning, achieved with holographic effects.

Harits, staring into the audience, drops it on the floor, with the edges of the stage now filled with fiery, pure fires, both real and holographic, and the LED screen showing the graffiti burning to ash, replaced by an image of a burning stalk of rose, presumably a declaration of the mute subject's passionate desire to pursue his love interest.

R
When i saw you here, last springtime
H
Twelve-fifteen*, when the sun shines
R
Feels like i just found a dime
Gonna cross this line i have made

H
For i have found what love is
R
Girl, i need you

With the song culminating in its full climax, the band unleashed their full power, presumably tired of waiting and trying to pursue the love interest, preferring to put their heart and soul to this performance, acting as some kind of a love letter to their crush. The band members does not let the sheer fires burn their passion away, choosing to think of the controlled fires around the stage as something that fuels their own desires, their own hopes, their own dreams, presumably beyond chasing their lover, it’s something much more bigger than that:

Their own future.

They will not let their thoughts be full of chasing their lover all day, every day, rather, they have finally realized, and are now choosing, that changing their destiny is much more important, with the boys using this performance akin to a farewell to their love interest, using a much more intense instrument playing and a much more heart-shattering singing compared to the beginning of the song. Joyce’s pre-recorded voice, soft yet determined, brings the boys to a state beyond ecstasy, something that they only know, much to the cheers, almost feral, from the crowd.

F:
I already got some courage
But my mouth doesn't will
Can't speak to existence
For i am tongue-tied

R:
But i won't let it bring me down
My hands will speak for me
I hope you dream of me
Whenever, wherever
(I want to love you)

H/J:
Seandainya, seandainya
Ku bisa bicara
Kan kukatakan semua
I want to love you
Seandainya, seandainya
Ku bisa bicara
Kan kuluapkan semua
I want to love you
If only, and if only
I can speak
I'll say it out loud to you

If only, and if only
I can speak
I'll let it all out to you

The boys, now finished playing, then came together to the front of the stage, before bowing in unison, much to the cheers and applause from the crowd. All the members, sharing a microphone, then said "Thank You Carrelie! Terima Kasih!" to the crowd, before excitedly going backstage, some of them carrying their own instruments.

*twelve-fifteen in this case means 12:15 PM midday

As the beat started, the live horn players would rock side to side as the five group members stood infront of the microphone stands on different parts of the stage as the live horn band played beside them. As the lyrics started to be sang, the first member, Zinbie, sang infront of the microphone stand and grabbed the microphone, walking to the center stage as the second half of the first verse lines began to be sang by the second member, Emily.

Uh baby come come come
Got me going crazy over you, hmm
Oh maybe I just fell in love
Cause baby I just know what you are
You make me feel like heaven just above,
Oh I, feel the love deep inside of me, so
Let’s get together and share our deep love
Love, love love love

As she sang at a microphone stand as well, she grabbed the microphone and walked over to where Zinbie stood, and continuing to sing. As they continued to sing, they came to a part where they both harmonized together then the third member comes in quickly after the harmonization, walking away from her position and microphone stand, joining the other girls on the middle stage.

Baby just come give good love, your touch is really all I want
You have something no one else does
Oh something nobody knows
You came into my life
By suddenly falling from above

Then, the fourth member would come in, in the middle of the second verse and she walked away from her microphone stand, joining the group on the main stage. And the last member would walk out from her microphone stand, and she would walk to the main stage as the microphone stands were taken off stage.

Love me through out the day and the night
Just long as it’s us two, us alone
Cause my sweet bliss is on your name

As they got into formation as a group together and started to reach the chorus, they stepped to the beat with simple choreography, then they all locked arms and moved their bodies to the beat, folding their arms and moving as male dancers would appear on the stage and start stepping to the beat.

Image

Now I’m saving all my love
Cause baby you’re the only one
To catch my eye and now I’m in your spell
Baby why did you put a cruel spell on me?
But don’t you ever ignore the truth
Just hold on, and let’s love until the end of time

They let go of eachother, spreading out and continued the simple step choreography that they did before, moving to the beat and the singers would change positions to the frontline everytime their line was up to be performed, constantly changing spots as they went through the lyrics.

Your love is simply creeping in
You make me feel so hooked on you
Our love even shares one soul
Oh the love between us two manlyodoeji anhseubnida
Let’s take it real slow, Cause we got time

As they continued to sing, the band stepped along to the beat as the group sang.

My body moves through all your commands
I love when you call out my name
I got so much stored for you, so don’t you wait…

They repeated the choreography done for the first chorus, and they’d then spread out and get in a line, moving to the beat and flowing with the words.

Image

Now I’m saving all my love
Cause baby you’re the only one
To catch my eye and now I’m in your spell
Baby why did you put a cruel spell on me?
But don’t you ever ignore the truth
Just hold on, and let’s love until the end of time

As they reached the beginning of the next verse, a male dancer accompanied each member, dancing with the men in suits and as the group member sang her lines.

Once we finish then we’ll go again
Wanting more and more as time goes by
Oh forever baby I need you
My life without you is so impossible Oh oh oh…. Oh oh oh…

The men would step off the stage slowly as Midgin walked on stage and the group of girls would spread out in a circle around him and start doing the routine choreography, dropping to the ground and moving to the beat.

Image

As he ended the verse, he was close to the camera, pushing it away and the view would switch back to the group, as they did their step routine to the song and they’d repeat the moves that they have done before.

Now I’m saving all my love
Cause baby you’re the only one
To catch my eye and now I’m in your spell
Baby why did you put a cruel spell on me?
But don’t you ever ignore the truth
Just hold on, and let’s love until the end of time

They would repeat again, locking arms and dancing to the beat as the song proceeded to end.

You give me such a peace of mind
It feels like I’ve known you all along
If we’re gonna love let’s take our time
Baby why did you put a cruel spell on me?
But don’t you ever ignore the truth
Just hold on, and let’s love until the end of time..

As they finished the performance, they posed in formation and the groups animated logo would show as the song ended behind them on the LED screen.

Axuva Today Network [ATN] Today we announce that the Axuvian Government now recognizes The Russian Language as an Official Language, Korean and English were spoken in the beginning, but there were Russians too, russians were forgotten and their language were not recognized due to the things they did in the past, but now their language is a official language of Axuva, and there will now be 3 official languages instead of two.

26 | Estogium | Jared Atkinson - Hypnotised

Postby Estogium » Tue Jun 15, 2021 1:34 pm

#26 ESTOGIUM
Jared Atkinson - "Hypnotised"
Tune : Papyllon - "WHAT ABOUT TONIGHT?"
Language: English
Duration: 3:37

Image

Estogium returns to the WorldVision Song Contest after a short hiatus, sending Jared Atkinson who was supposed to represent the country two editions ago with his song, "Hypnotised"...

Official Press Release WV89;

During the song reveal show for Estogium at the WorldVision Song Contest, it was revealed that 28 year old Jared Atkinson will fly the flag for Estogium at the upcoming WorldVision Song Contest. This is after a pretty poor result for Estogium, with the nation falling out of the top 20. As Estogians turn their back against RVC and their poor choices at the Contest, RVC have had to work a bit harder to find the perfect song for Estogium. With "Hypnotised", RVC is hoping to make a real impact on the scoreboard.

"Yes, obviously we are a bit unhappy with the result that we received in Rhim Flavezztowland, but that is the past and we've got to learn from our mistakes. This edition, we hope to make a real impact on the scoreboard and we think that by sending the wonderful Jared Atkinson with the song, "Hypnotised", we might be onto something! I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best! He's a great singer and a proper showman he will do brilliantly!"

So do you think of me when your eyes are closed - when you're alone?
There's no shame in it, I think of you too, no, I can't lie
When it is you and me with the lights down low on our own,
When we’re skin to skin and we’re giving it all we’ve got.
When only our syncopated breaths are the only thing we can hear,
That’s when you’ve got me exactly where you want me.

The look in your eyes, the look in your eyes,
It is dangerous, ‘cuz I lose my mind
It’s too late, I ignored the signs
Now you know that you’ve got me hypnotised

Can you feel my breath down the back of your neck,
Hairs standing on... end.
The sweet pain as I... I delve deeper, girl
Delve deeper in your mind

The look in your eyes, the look in your eyes,
It is dangerous, ‘cuz I lose my mind
It’s too late, I ignored the signs
Now you know that you’ve got me hypnotised

The look in your eyes, the look in your eyes,
It is dangerous, ‘cuz I lose my mind
It’s too late, I ignored the signs
Now you know that you’ve got me hypnotised

The look in your eyes, The look in your eyes
It is dangerous, ‘cuz I lose my mind
The look in your eyes, the look in your eyes,
I ignored the signs...

The look in your eyes, The look in your eyes
It is dangerous, ‘cuz I lose my mind
The look in your eyes, the look in your eyes,
I ignored the signs...

Now you know that you’ve got me hypnotised

The look in your eyes, the look in your eyes,
It is dangerous, ‘cuz I lose my mind
It’s too late, I ignored the signs
Now you know that you’ve got me hypnotised

The look in your eyes, the look in your eyes,
It is dangerous, ‘cuz I lose my mind
It’s too late, I ignored the signs
Now you know that you’ve got me hypnotised

W.W.W (We Want Win) - Give Us The 12 Points

tune

We lost our funds!
We’re ruined!
Yaaaaaay!

OH OH OH OH YEAAAA OH OH OH OH OH OH YEAAAA OH WE’RE GONNA WIN OH OH YEAAAAAA GIVE ME THOSE 12 POINTS , GIVE IT TO ME, NOT 10…. 12……………. OH OH OH OH- THEY CAN’T VOTE FOR US- THEY’RE GONNA VOTE FOR US, OHHHHHHH YEAAAAAAAAAH!

The scene opens to a WTF corporate meeting. Since the collapse of South Alezia, they had made a rash decision to move to Zamboodle. Having bought a studio in a rusty warehouse in Kumswalo, Once there, they lost all their money to a Zamboodlese Prince scam, which money conveniently went straight into Zamboodle's performing arts budget, but since any money was better than negative money- meant a complete overhaul and revamp of Zamboodle's entertainment industry. Back to the scene, the desperate WTF employees begin imitating snorting drugs and stripping, eventually devolving into a party of mimicked sex acts aided by convenient sultry red lighting.

You’re gonna give us the twelve points, cuz it’s a sex song! (It’s a sex song! Unh!)
Don’t be stingy with those twelve points- it’s a sex song! (It’s a sex song! Hah!)
Give it to me, give me those twelve points- it’s a sex song! (It’s a sex song!)
Give us each of the twelve points-

NYAAAAAAH~

The lead singer was thrown on stage, the barbie dolls and muppet puppets clinking against each other in the background due to some expert puppetry. The lead singer was dressed in a barbie bikini, with cherries on the black top part. All lights focused on her as the puppetry continued in the background. She would continue like this until the phone rang.

WTF Corporate!
South Alezia what?
Hell nah, we lost all our money in Zamboodle!
(Is everything alright?
Should we stop the afterparty?)
Nah, nah, not at all dudes!
You keep doin who you’re doin!
(MORE METH!)

Just like Kay Wattefs and that slice of cake-
Their fillings in them are all fake!
But when you and your boyfriend are makin’ them clap-clap!
Remember what song made them cheeks shake! (Pow wow wow!)

As the phone call was roleplayed out, the puppets asked if they should stop. When the lead singer of WWW and their bandmates shook their heads, they continued to snort an ambiguous white powder and the puppeted barbie dolls hit against each other harder in all sorts of wacky positions. As that happened, the lead singer was somehow pushed closer to the stage, legs open in a split position.

You’re gonna give us the twelve points, cuz it’s a sex song! (It’s a sex song! Unh!)
Don’t be stingy with those twelve points- it’s a sex soo0o0ong!

Don’t act like Caryton when you cheer and scream-
For the entry with that guy getting railed by the sports team!
Give us the twelve points, it’s a sex song!
HAH AH NAH GAH!

A doll in a reverend's robe would be revealed by a spotlight underneath a Carytonic flag, with Zamboodlese soldiers sprinting towards it, smashing the robed doll to bits with the stocks of their AK47's. The spotlight then shone on a twinkish Ken doll being surrounded by bulky quarterback-type football dolls. With both scenes over, the background flourished into darkness, focusing back on We Want Win as they were expertly puppeted into thrusting around the lead singer.

Give us the twelve points! (We’re too hot for this contest’s pace!)
Give us the twelve points! (Holy s**t, call me daddy! Let us win!)

Give us the twelve points! (OOOOH YEAH!)
Give us the twelve points! (VOTE IT AND CHECK IT AND SEND IT AND CLAP IT!)
Give us the twelve points! (We’re better than the North!)

Give us the twelve- (HAH AH NYAH U W U!)

VOOOOOOOTE!

Give us the twelve points! Send us all twelve points!
(TELEVOTE TOOOOO! GIVE ZAMBOODLE TEEEEEN!)
Give us the twelve points! Send us all twelve points!
(OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH)
Give us the twelve points! Send us all twelve points!
Give us the twelve points! Send us all twelve points!
GIve us the- TWEEEEHEEEELVE! (Song!)

What followed next would be a pure cacophony. It started with two more band members having an echo, the dolls beginning to clink and dink against each other even while they performed, both straight and gay partnerships. The lead singer would somehow moonwalk back through her "OOOOOOOH YEAH" vocal portion, throwing an accusatory plastic finger towards a burning North Alezian flag. The whole stage would be illuminated to showcase all the scenes, the white powder, the massive "party", the Zamboodlese soldiers smashing the remains of a tiny doll, the Ken doll being smothered by at least ten larger football player dolls, an actual fire being started on stage as the band began to jostle around in an improvised dance, a backing singer doing the OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, all culminated in the final note, an explosion obliterating several of the background barbie dolls, sending plastic and stuffing shrapnel straight into the audience.

Never thought I could make it on my own, no no
But you're gone now
Yeah, I’m strong now
But you’re gone now
On my own now

1:04
Aleks grabs the mic and starts walking to the platform in front of the stage.
Just two months ago
Y’ really let me go
Didn’t know how to break free from all this sorrow

Then I found
My standing ground
(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

1:26
Aleks stops walking and starts dancing again. The camera moves from Aleks to the others playing their respective instrument.

1:48
Aleks stops dancing.
Never thought I could make it on my own, no no
But you're gone now
Yeah, I’m strong now
But you’re gone now
On my own now

(But you're gone now)
(Yeah, I’m strong now)
(But you’re gone now)
(On my own now)
(But you're gone now)
(Yeah, I’m strong now)
(But you’re gone now)
(On my own now)

2:09
Aleks steps on a spinning platform with a black and white swirl pattern on it and throws his head back, looking at the overhead camera. After a few seconds, the camera switches to the others playing their respective instruments.

2:31
Aleks looks at a camera going around the platform.
But I’m stronger now
(I’m stronger now, I’m stronger now)
No longer asking how
(No more asking how)

2:42
Aleks throws his head back again. The camera cuts back and forth between him and the others playing their respective instruments.

3:14
Aleks gets off the platform and starts walking back to where he started.
Never thought I could make it on my own, no no
But you're gone now
Yeah, I’m strong now
But you’re gone now
On my own now

Never thought I could make it on my own, no no
But you're gone now
Yeah, I’m strong now
But you’re gone now
On my own now

3:35
Aleks arrives at the place he started at and puts the microphone back in the stand.

The audience cheers loudly. All four bow for about two seconds. Aleks shouts "THANK YOU!".

31. BEEPEE
"All of the Feelings"
Performed by
Kiki

Image

Tune:  'Bra Vibrationer' - Kikki Danielsson

As regular viewers of the WorldVision will attest to, Beepeeans love a schlager filled bounce paired with hammy over-emoting by their performers...

Once again the effervescent nation of Beepee has rolled up it's sleeves and dug into its deepest, darkest schlager nightmares to bring you a fun filled bounce... enjoy.... oh and I hope you want a slice of 'ham' with that.

LET'S HAVE A KIKI

Kiki Mindabals (born 14 August 1989) is a Beepeean schlager-pop singer, songwriter, and actress.

Her father, Joaquim , is an Northern Beepeean-born plumber.  Her mother, Kissi, is Beepeean and from the capital of Beepee.

From an early age, Kiki was involved in the local church choir with her grandmother, and her house was filled with music, with her mother often singing, her father playing guitar and the rest of the family displaying their passion for music.  This passion lead through her school life and became her career.

"All of the Feelings" is the premier single of Kiki's debut album "Let's Have a Kiki!".  Its a self penned track and describes the happiness she felt when her fiance proposed to her on the beach at Banksia.

PERFORMANCE

Kiki is dressed in a bright pink, and beams the largest smile as she walks onto stage waving at the audience before the performance begins.

Kiki breathes out and turns to face the rear of the stage.  She stands waiting,  and the music begins.

Kiki bounces along the the beat, spinning to sing the first sentences. Her pink floaty dress flowing as she spins.

We go walking hand in hand
Along the golden sand
Waves crashing all around me

There's a joyful glee in her voice and face as Kiki sings the song, and Kiki certainly hams it up throughout the song.

Suddenly you're on one knee
Looking up at me
Is that a ring that I see?

As she sing 'Is that a ring that I see?', Kiki puts her hands up to her cheek in :o surprise.

Without nerves
Without doubt
And with a tiny hint of glee
You say the words
I long to hear
Marry me?

You give me all of the feelings
My poor heart
Goes flying high in the sky
Right up to the moon

There's plenty of shoulder shrugging and beaming smiles down the camera as Kiki sings the chorus.  As she sings 'right up to the moon, her hand raises up to the sky imitating the lyrics of the song.

You give me all of the feelings
Songs of love
Keep playing all through my head
Keep me spinning
Heading to a better place
Your sweet embrace

As she sings 'Your sweet embrace', she throws her arms around herself.

Later at the restaurant
I know just what I want
And It's not on the menu

There's a knowing nod and a wink down the camera at the televisual audience as Kiki sings 'And It's not on the menu'.

And as we sip our dessert wine
I'm thinking of the time
That I'll be spending with you

Kiki raises an imaginary glass... I mean by now you surely know how much beepeeans love a good glass of vino... and she flips her hair as she sings "That I'll be spending with you".

With just one look
Just one touch
You're the one I love so much
When in doubt
Scream and shout
Its all you

As the song progresses, Kiki's performance becomes larger and overly emotional.  For example as she sings "Its all you", Kiki points to the audience with each syllable.

You give me all of the feelings
My poor heart
Goes flying high in the sky
Right up to the moon

You give me all of the feelings
Songs of love
Keep playing all through my head
Keep me spinning
Heading to a better place
Your sweet embrace

As the bridge arrives and there's a change in the song, Kiki continues to try and sell the song.  She shivers her way through the winter section, before exploding into joy with the coming of the spring.

And when the winter comes
The snow lies on the ground
I long to see you at my door
And when the spring time comes
And dries up all the snow
I know you here forever more

You give me all of the feelings
My poor heart
Goes flying high in the sky
Right up to the moon

You give me all of the feelings
Songs of love
Keep playing all through my head
Keep me spinning
Heading to a better place
Your sweet embrace

As Kiki finishes her performance she shakes her hips tot he final beats and thrusts her hand in the air.  Yelping with delight at her performance.

She waves at the assembled audience and says thank you as she leaves the stage.

Up next...

32.Crustyland

Image

Last edition. Crustyland had done pretty well. Elisa Poala sang her song "The Addiction" and placed an impressive 16th place with 124 points. This was Crustyland's second-best result to date. Elisa returned home to a massive welcome as she returned to Rannk Airport. Her song achieved Number 1 in Crustyland as well as having top10 chart success in Beepee, Hafamarimët, Placely Placington, Not Auphelian, Alezian Union, and Vartugia.

Sadly though this came at a cost. CRAP had blown almost all of their budget. They had a few thousand left. The team at CRAP got to work on making a song as they couldn't afford to pay anyone else to do it. The end result was 52 seconds of beautiful music as this was all they could afford to do. Although classical music is not for everyone, this song has enough mainstream appeal to convince the masses. or so they hoped.
Then came the realisation they had no singer. The team gathered at CRAP HQ for their WV meeting. Benjamin Cramp the HoD stared out the window in thought looking at the streets below. The office overlooked the main promenade next to the sea. It was a normal day. People were "trying" to go about their daily business. which usually resulted in people having to walk around a lazy walrus who had decided to sunbathe in the middle of the footpath, hurdle around a baby seal pup or be chased by an aggressive sea lion as they had unfortunately wondered into its territory. Amongst the chaos and sea mammal and faeces covered streets, Benjamin spotted a middle-aged woman... walking a pet teenage seal. The seal was almost the same size as her and plodded along on a leash. The woman seems lightly odd. As downright stupid and bizarre and the majority of the population as he had never seen anyone with a pet seal! Suddenly Ben had an idea. "HEY, YOU THERE!" He yells from out the top window. "COME OVER, COME OVER" Sounding rather much like a previous Crustyland entry. The woman turns around and points to herself and mouths "me" a huge grin on her face before she starts giggling. Ben calls for her to come up to the HQ.

Ten minutes later after the receptionists had to pack her and the seal into the lift she arrived at the office. The lift door opens and out wonders the seal with the woman following. The woman brushes her blond hair and starts laughing. The seal sits there looking around. The rest of the team in the office wary of it. "So the reason I've asked you up here. How would you like to sing for us at the Worldvision?" Ben asks. Only he isn't asking the woman... he is asking the seal. The seal snorts a loud of snot all over the floor and makes a load of inaudible noises, to which Ben takes as a yes. The woman who has a very infectious laugh stands there giggling. "You know yes time I had in the seal, too. Hehehe. Seal in the park walk me go and then go to there with hehe in dog poo with it in the slight run in the middle." Ben looks bewildered, the woman laughs, "Can I come too?" she asks this time actually making some sense. "Yes, but we can't pay you." Ben replies. The woman claps her hands excitedly and laughs again.

The Crustyland spent their last remaining budget on getting the woman named Frieda and her seal, BlubberMcCharlesworth the third Lord of Rannk onto the cargo plane to Haufenburg in Carrelie. The seal was kept in a paddling pool and fed crabs and fish. Frieda sat with the HoD and wouldn't calm down. about all the snacks on board. After an 8 hour flight, the plane touched down in Carrelie and the team with the help of a forklift to help the seal got off the plane.

The postcard ends and the crowd cheers loudly for Crustyland. Crustyland had won over many peoples respects recently and everyone in the hall was excited for the performance. The spotlights finishing rushing around and dim. The LED's turn a dark blue and Frieda who is holding a leash is illuminated centre stage by a spotlight. She is wearing a light blue blouse and grey trousers. Her semi-long blonde hair is slightly messy. She is holding the seal on a leash. She stands there beaming with pride as the Seal starts "singing". The camera starts with a stage shot before zooming in slowly towards the "talented" seal. Frieda stands there moving from side to side behind him.

Blarghhhh Blarghhhhh
Egg Ehhh ehh blarghh
Uhhh EGG blarghhhh

The crowd actually cheers as she looks dramatically looks to her right side as the chorus hits. The spotlight lights woosh upwars casting glowing white and blue lights out from the stage. The back LED'S and floor fills with more blue which pours outwards from behind Frieda on the screen. The LED floors turn blue. The camera pans right to left around the edge of the stage capturing the whole stage in view. She stands there swaying excitedly. The seal continues to blurt its noises out wriggling as it does.

BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Du Duh Ugh
Uh Ah Eh Ahhhhh!

At this point the woman breaks down laughing "Hehehehe!" The camera pans in on her. The crowd probably feeling sorry for Crustyland applaud and start cheering. The suspended camera moves slowly left to right around the edge of the stage showing the whole main stage. She stands there trying to act all cool and waves her arms about slowly to the song.

Uhh E EH BLARGHHHHH!

Frieda again breaks down giggling. The camera then cuts to a shot of her and the seal before zooming in on them both before it cuts abruptly to a camera from the top of the arena above the audience looking down on the stage as the song abruptly comes to an end.

Rarrr Egg Ughhhh Blarhhhhhhhh

The lights come back on and the audience whether they liked it or not were on their feet applauding. Frieda pets the seal and the seal bobs up and down looking content.

"Thank you!" Frieda yells. She leads her seal off stage it squeaks loudly sending an ear piercingly loud echo through the arena as it clumsily shuffles off of the stage.

Kiko - Stay Mad

Language(s): English
Lyrics: Kiko Ikeda
Music: Kiko Ikeda, Trenton Barnett
Tune: Misery Business - Paramore

Artist Background
Image
Kiko (b. Kiko Ikeda, 15th April 2001) is a Joijan singer and artist of Japanese descent. She was born to Japanese parents in Gelaam, Hoek River Province. She achieved fame after releasing the album Welcome to the Computer Age in May this year to critical and social media success, with Stay Mad being its lead single and biggest hit. She was then approached by JTV just a week later and agreed to participate in Joija's debut WV. The single cover, a hark back to Kiko's style and roots, was created by Ikeda herself, along with all of her single covers and album cover.

Image
Stay Mad
Stay Mad was initially Ikeda's own work and she released a demo of the song onto the app TikTok in March 2021. She caught the attention of producer and songwriter Trenton Barnett, who helped to 'spruce up' the song and give it its noticeable 2000s pop punk-influenced sound. The song is about someone escaping a toxic relationship and moving on, much to the contempt of the other person. When interviewed on JTV's Pop Art, she said, "I've seen so many of my girl and guy friends go through these horrible, horrible relationships, but they seem to think it's normal. They've said stuff to me, like, 'Oh, my boyfriend goes through my phone sometimes, but it's alright, he's just checking up on me', or 'My girlfriend doesn't like it when I follow other girls on Instagram' so casually to the point where I started to think these were normal things boyfriends and girlfriends did. When I got my first partner, I didn't realise this wasn't normal until they had to sit me down and tell me my reaction to them seeing me drop a plate accidentally wasn't normal. I'm glad I had them, because it has been such an eye-opener for me."

Lyrics and staging
After the postcard ends, stage is completely dark, but white lights gradually come on once the drum sounds. The LED display shows Kiko's artist logo. Kiko runs across to the other stage while sparkler pyrotechnics surround her on either side.

The LED screen then shows the lyric video for Stay Mad, in sync to Kiko's singing.

No point in feeling misery
I gave you all I got
You almost torn me down to pieces
Treat me like I'm something to mock

Kiko starts walking back towards the main stage while waving at the audience.

It's a matter of time before the kindest snap
When I had the chance I finally escaped your trap
Now it's been a good few months since you'd last seen me
But I don't care, I found the strength that set me free
A quick glance and you were filled with rage
You've got it out for me, but I wear the biggest smile

Kiko runs the remainder of the bridge between the two stages before turning around and stamping both feet on the ground just before the chorus kicks in. The pyrotechnics start. The lights glow brighter in time to the drums. During the chorus, she fist bumps the air while running around the main stage.

Woah, I never meant to make you mad
Cause you've got no more power now
Woah, I don't care, so stay mad
Not sorry to steal the show from you now
By God does it feel so good
Cause you've got no more power now
Guess you reap what you damn sow
By God it just feels so
It just feels so good

Kiko starts to walk across the bridge again while most of the spotlights focus on her.

You don't matter to me any longer
You will never change
Once you're gone, you're too far gone
I'm sorry, you will never change
It's the things like this that make me glad that I'm estranged
I'm sorry, sweetie, but I'm happier now
So just go away

She stops in the middle of the bridge, laying on the floor, slamming her fist and then getting back up at the end of the verse.

There's a million reasons why I don't want you
Not to bring up all the times you made me really hate you
You're just so spiteful
My life now is so delightful
And I refuse to return to you

She starts running towards the other stage again, with more intense pyrotechnics. The lights are in sync again. By the end of the chorus, she is at the other stage.

Woah, I never meant to make you mad
Cause you've got no more power now
Woah, I don't care, so stay mad
Not sorry to steal the show from you now
By God does it feel so good
Cause you've got no more power now
Guess you reap what you damn sow
By God it just feels so
It just feels so good

The lights change to dark blue, all aimed at Kiko while she sings the bridge. The smaller LED images show a picture of Kiko and an unknown, censored person and her burning it.

They've made my days so much brighter
This heavy heart feels much lighter
Just see my days become brighter
My heavy heart feels lighter

She runs across the bridge again with pyrotechnics on the bridge and on the edges of both stages. She dances erratically, headbanging and doing her own thing. At the end of the instrumental she is at the main stage. The lights return to normal.

Instrumental

The lights strobe during the fast drumming at the near-start of the chorus (just before the second line) and then return to being in sync with the chorus. She runs across to both sides of the stage, high-fiving audience members and stamping around.

Woah, I never meant to make you mad
Cause you've got no more power now
Woah, I don't care, so stay mad
Not sorry to steal the show from you now
By God does it feel so good
Cause you've got no more power now
Guess you reap what you damn sow
By God it just feels so
It just feels so good

The song finishes and it goes completely dark before several spotlights aim on her smiling and waving at the audience. "Thank you, thank you Carrelie!"

Viha (Hatred)

TKH
Tune: SUGR? - "Oh, Death"

Tödlichebujoki west coast, a half hour north of Suureito

A storm roiled up on the horizon, lightning flickering through the dark curtain of rain and murky clouds. Yarmo Kato gazed out, past the rolling waves crashing violently upon the rocks below him, as he clutched onto a gnarled shore pine near the cliff edge. He was always gripped by the feeling of danger, the adrenaline rush, the feeling of vicious wind pushing and pulling at him as he stood on the edge of tragic death. Perhaps he had too much trust in his reflexes to prevent him from becoming a collection of mysterious bleached-white bones washing up along a nearby beach for some unlucky seashell collector to come across, one day in the far future, a cold case until some incredibly talented forensic necromancer came along. But it was true, he definitely did trust his reflexes too much. The man's eyes flitted down along the shoreline. Amidst the pounding salt spray of the sea and slick-black boulders, shards and fragments of some rich boy's yacht lay scattered along the high water mark, mixed in with the driftwood and seaweed. The gleaming pieces reminded him of the bitter memories that still lurked in his psyche, his times with Kerpoltti had started off so wonderfully, so beautifully, it seemed there was only sunshine and smooth sailing ahead for them. His amazing smile that took Yarmo's breath away every time it appeared, the laughter and mischief the two had caught themselves up in...

But all it took was a miscommunication. An assumption that transformed into a trap, a tangle of expectations and statements that simply could never be brought into reality and be made true. A thorn that twisted into their hearts, bleeding and poisoning what had once been warm and thriving. Casual chat faded to cold stares, while animated conversation transformed into explosive accusations and regrettable words. After the last incident.. Kerpoltti never returned. Yarmo never had the chance to apologize once he had realized his mistakes, the tragedy of time ensuring that even after his realization, there was no point in chasing down and revisiting old wounds. He had to move on, and he did, finding a new anchor in Valdi as he struggled out of his emotional turmoil. Valdi was so much of what Kerpoltti was not- calm and rational, ready to temper Yarmo's more rash decisions, while still happy to step out for an adventure. In order to keep his emotions compartmentalized, Yarmo found himself rigidly separating his experiences with Kerpoltti from his new ones with Valdi, in a way attempting to wipe the slate clean, to start anew and do everything he could to escape his old mistakes. Meanwhile, Valdi, as a Névetayan, did not have a firm grasp of the Taploukki language as the two began dating, and so relied heavily on Yarmo to learn, and to navigate well in Suureito, where they moved in together. And so as their two lives began to intertwine, Valdi asked a simple question, one that would otherwise be innocuous, but as Yarmo found himself teaching Valdi more and more in the realm of emotional vocabulary, with all the weight it carried for him, he found himself crashing in at last.

"'Viha', what's that?" Valdi had asked one evening, as he bit into a pan-seared reindeer cutlet. "I love the way it sounds."

Hatred. The feeling that Yarmo had felt so strongly immediately after his last altercation with Kerpoltti, and one that he still wondered if Kerpoltti felt towards him. The feeling that blindsided Yarmo from recognizing his mistakes for so long. The feeling that poisoned his heart until he could cleanse it with hindsight, and prepare it for a new melding with another. He found himself struggling to answer. Here it felt like his two worlds were finally colliding, even if it were just an innocent question, with no real reason for such a dramatic response from him. But he couldn't control that. And he had to stop, calm his heart rate, even as the silence dragged on, and Valdi glanced up at him in concern. Even if he had found the willpower to speak, his throat had gone dry, and he had to grab another swig of his drink, a lingonberry spirit that got caught in his throat and sent him into a coughing fit. Valdi, at this point, was wise enough to let it go, ask if he was okay, let Yarmo have his space, and moved the conversation on. Of course, he eventually found the answer to his question.

But the situation replayed in Yarmo's mind like a vengeful phantom until he decided to bring it into life as part of his burgeoning music project Tarpkatinyainan Havaraki with his friends, production fiend Ilmari Peltonen and gifted drummer Hivumi Pekkanen. It was a quick work, one where he just wanted to get his feelings out. But of course, as such things sometimes tend to go, it rapidly gained traction out of the blue, and swiftly became the most popular out of his relatively niche works. He never expected to be going this far with it. But while life sometimes falls apart before one's eyes, sometimes it aligns as well. And this, well, this was one of those times.

The stage glows azure for a brief moment before the music kicks in, with a few spotlights illuminating Yarmo, Ilmari with an electric guitar, and Hivumi naturally on drums at center stage, the studs in their leather shining and reflecting in the light, against the back drop of darkness. Yarmo lifts his head up from gazing at the ground, and toward the camera view, which captures his placid face struggling to hold back a tide of emotion

You're asking me
"Viha"
"What's that for you, oh"
Oh babe, wish I never knew

You're telling me
"Viha"
"I love the way that it's rollin' off my tongue"
I don't want to say
Oh I don't want to say

Strobing spotlights, levelled horizontally, flicker across the men and instruments tenderly as Yarmo gazes off into the distance with a pained, almost wistfull, expression, wincing as if the dissociation is bringing him pain. A single rhinestone set on his cheek below his eye glimmers in the light as the camera view passes by for a close shot, and he turn toward it pleadingly, the surrounding details and effects blurring away, as a red underglow seems to permeate the scene

No, d-d-d-d-d-d-don't make me hurt so much tonight
No, d-d-d-d-don't bring my buried nightmares back to life
You, d-d-d-d-on't know who we really are
You, a-a-a-act like you never saw these dried-up scars

Around him, the stage pulses a deep dark red, lighting up the outlines of the boxes on the wall, with a much darker, brooding red-black pulsing within each box. A light mist begins to roll in, weaving a scene of withdrawal from reality, with the spotlights on the group now noticeably faint and wavering, as if shining from afar. The camera view sweeps in along the front of them, as red highlights arc along the stage floor, visible through the fog, and Yarmo, tapping his foot to the beat, enters the chorus

Viha
It's not for you, no
Oh babe, wish I never knew

You're telling me
"Viha"
"I love the way that it's rollin' off my tongue"
I don't want to say
Oh I don't want to say

The lights and effects turn down, leaving the group softly lit primarily from behind, and a single light on Yarmo. Thin red horizontal lasers flicker and shift in front of and among them, with Yarmo then turning to his side to face the camera view, leaving a red laser burning at his heart

Oh, j-j-j-j-just let me go and drown my tears alone
Oh, I wish m-m-m-my bleeding heart were made of stone
I'll, l-l-l-l-let you let me go right here
I'll, I'll s-s-s-s-save you from my heart's, darkest fears

With a flash, the sparse spotlighting returns, sweeping out over the audience in parallel lines, background squares pulsing in shades of red against a black background. Yarmo is now more visibly pained, his calm facade more and more clearly slipping away and revealing his emotional torture

"Viha"
It's not for you, no
Oh babe, I wish I never knew

You're telling me
"Viha"
"I love the way that it's rollin' off my tongue"
I don't want to say
No, I don't want to say

He steps out and strides along the projecting platform, as the lights die down with a singular focus on him. He addresses the audience, the camera view... and Valdi. It has clearly taken him a lot to get to this point both in the performance otself and in terms of his personal journey and reckoning. He is a bit shakily at first, but slowly gains confidence as he continues

All this darkness eating through me
Still, I see
You're aching for a meaning
Oh babe, wish I never knew
You're asking me

He closes his eyes, raising his microphone as his head arcs upward, losing himself in the music one last time. His veil of calmness is entirely gone now, and amidst the whirling lights and flanking smoke, he lets himself loose in raw, intense, regretful glory. Puffs of smoke fire off from along the stage edge, joining the ground level smoky mist that is once again pervading the stage. The camera view swings by Ilmari jamming out on the guitar, and Hivumi entirely absorbed in headbanging as he plays. Red lasers splay out over the audience, tracing lines on the interior walls, almost like an extension of the stage floor curving upwards

"Viha"
No, not for you, no
Oh babe, wish I never knew
It's hurting me

The final shot ends with Yarmo on his knees, microphone raised up high, and harshly lit in bright white light with Ilmari and Hivumi behind him, the smoke slowly moving and dissipating around them

The lights come back on, and all the members of TKH join once more on the central stage. "Kiitos, Haufenburg!" they shout before exiting the stage.

Ethane: Alisha Devons - Dreams Made of Paper
To the tune of: Grant - Weapon (feat. Baum)

Alisha is standing in the centre of the stage. She is wearing a vibrant red dress which stands out on the stage. She is the only one on the stage. The lighting is vibrant to begin with, but not radical. There is a general yellowish glow around the edge of the stage, and a number of spotlights are projecting down on to Alisha. She has a microphone by her side in her right hand – she’s waiting for the musical cue at which she begins to sing. As the music properly picks up pre-chorus, a few red lights begin to pulse around the stage intermittently. Alisha brings to microphone up to her mouth just before she begins to sing and takes a step forward, looking out towards the audience. A smile of delight crosses her face – she has been looking forward to this moment for a long time.

Future unpaved.
My dreams are waiting.
Thinking it through,
Life forces everyone to choose.

A pattern is projected on to the screen at the rear of the stage. It’s not necessarily clear what it is to the audience, but a red circle is spinning round multiple tracks outlined in – changing its pathing each time. It represents the multiple paths that life offers (or appears to offer), and the indecision that the singer is facing. She’s facing a dilemma.

Choices foretold.
Achievement teaches of old.
Need to move on.
Abandon all my dreams for you.

The lighting picks up in intensity slightly – it’s building up to the crescendo following the chorus. It gradually increases in brightness and vibrancy throughout the chorus, with an increasing variation in the colouring of lights too – this represents the confusion that the singer is facing. Alisha is also getting hyped up as well in the chorus, motivating the audience to join in. She’s also not quite jumping while she moves around the front of the stage, bouncing slightly as she spans the width of the auditorium while signing to the crowd.

When I dream of life’s different ways,
I can see my name in the sky.
Our nightmares drive me insane,
But they’re made of paper.

This is where the lighting is at its most vibrant and intense. It’s not quite at the level of strobe lighting – but the stage is illuminated by a variety of rapidly flashing coloured lights. A light use machinery creates a slight low-lying mist across the stage as well, which creates this impression of confusion.

Dreams are made of paper.

The lights have scaled back again, reflecting a certain level of reflection in amongst the confusion. Alisha is less energetic, and instead is representing the confusion of the subject as well – she looks confused and fragile, while still being slightly hyped up too.

Decisions, so fragile.
My mind’s creation
I won’t ever find.
There’s no point imagining.

I’ve al-ways wanted more,
But I’ll settle for yours.
Our future has opened up.
For our dreams.

The lights return to how they were in the previous chorus. Alisha is once again moving around the stage excitably, clearly engaging with the audience.
When I dream of life’s different ways,

I can see my name in the sky.
Our nightmares drive me insane,
But they’re made of paper.

Dreams are made of paper.

The music comes to an end, and the flashing lights immediately cut out with the end of the song, though the yellow ambient glow remains. “Thank you so much, everyone. I have been looking forward to this for so long, to finally get to perform this means a lot!”
Esportivan and Proud.
<drawk> If the entirety of the nation of Ethane was covered in a single cubic foot of Ethane on its surface, lighting it all on fire would cause a 5.44 megaton blast.
Best WorldVision Finish: 2nd. Best World Cup Finish: Quarter-Finals. Best KPB Rank: 8th. Best WBC Finish: 1st.

37. We're Having Fun - Connie Lingus
ft. Miss Slurp

Come in Brazil - Katya Zamolodchikova

No one knew who these two women were, but they had registered themselves as the Auphelian entrants for the 91st Worldvision Song Contest. Contact with Auphelia had been severed after their last entry in the 90th Worldvision Song Contest and attempts to confirm this with the central authority had been unsuccessful. Still, these women had official documentation stamped by an official seal of approval from the Auphelian Doyenne Ministry, and, quite honestly, the interns at the stage entrance didn't get paid enough to argue with two towering women wearing wigs piled nearly to the ceiling and squeezed into heels that would have given any reasonable person a heart attack. So when they took the stage in their costumes, it wasn't going to be with an entry that anyone had seen before.

Miss Slurp

One Month Earlier

It had been night when the two drag queens broke into the Auphelian embassy, a dark and imposing building looming ominously on the streets of their city. For months it had stood empty, the diplomatic delegation having left in a hurry for some reason or other. Neither queen had thought much of it at the time, not particularly caring about such abstract things as international politics when more pressing concerns were coming in, like wigs falling apart and heels breaking on stage. But then, around the time of the Worldvision entry period, one Connie Lingus had overheard a fascinating bit of gossip after one of her performances: the Auphelians, after several disastrous performances, would not be sending a delegation for the next song contest. It was all rumours and speculation, but it planted a curious thought in her mind. What if she entered Worldvision and pretended to be the Auphelian entrant? Her own application to her nation's song contest had been soundly rejected for the tenth time in a row and she was growing desperate for any type of relevance. Her drag career had been plodding along for years without going anywhere except the same old venues, year in and year out. No one ever recognised her talent, nor would they ever until she was able to show the world. People here didn't understand her, but if she could get on that stage and show the world what she could do . . . she was going to do this if it killed her or not. Recruiting her fellow ageing drag queen, Miss Slurp, the two formulated a plan. They would break into the now empty embassy and find a way to forge documents to get themselves onto the Worldvision stage. The burglary had gone easily enough - the doors had been left unlocked for some unknown reason and it had been no trouble at all to find the office of the Chief Doyenne, the head Auphelian ambassadress to their nation. Taking her seal and official Auphelian letterhead, they spent the night forging all of the necessary documents, mailing them off from the embassy and slipping out before dawn could witness their crimes. They stalked the mail in the embassy for weeks until they got official confirmation, with the required security passes and documents needed for the contest. Ignoring how disturbingly easy it had been to con their way into the world's largest song competition, they readied their act until it was time to travel to Haufenberg - a journey involving several camels, a steam boat, pirates, an ancient curse, thirty-seven kegs of vinegar, and a surprisingly educational macramé museum.

The two drag queens rushed on stage as their introduction music began to play, their eyelashes and arms flapping in the air as they hit their marks. Miss Slurp began the song with her sultry opening, preparing the audience for three minutes of absolute insanity.

I don't know about you, Connie
But I feel so much juicier

Miss Slurp's deep voice came as a shock to much of the audience, not having clocked these queens as anything other than women. Miss Slurp continued her song as Connie bopped along in the background, living her life to the fullest.

Bust in my door, get on the floor
Not enough hardwood, baby, you’re a bore
Meet me tonight, get in a fight
Sticky honey, bees, feet, suck me right
Come in the back? Well, here’s the key
Flip me on my front, bussy gotta breathe
High priced dealers, puttin’ out their feelers
But you don't need cash to bust this stash

Then Connie began to chant in Portuguese, her voice distorted and overlaid with others on the track. The audio engineers wept at the horror they had had a part in creating. The audience wept at the horror they were being forced to experience. A mass exodus began from the stage to the doors, but to no avail. Dozens of people pounded futilely, but this stadium would be their tomb.

Quenga, vadia, ra-ra-rapariga
Senta na minha cara, cara, cara
Quenga, vadia, ra-ra-rapariga
Senta na minha cara, cara, cara

Then the dance breakdown began. Dear god, the dance breakdown began.

Sorry, I ate
I had an early lunch
We’re having fun
We’re having fun
We’re having fun
We’re having fun
We’re having fun

The two queens began to laugh. No one else did.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Would it never end? Would Death not extend its hand in blissful mercy, some sort of escape offered from this nightmare of sound and graphic imagery?

Slap me around, baby, I don't care
Come to my house, just not in my mouth
Get on your knees, going down south
Chop my mutton, eat my sack
Stroke my ego, scratch my back
Please this rancid psycho bitch
Strap me down, babe, I'll come for you
Spray it all over, time for round two

How could someone move their body in such a way that led to revulsion in the viewer? Somehow it felt like watching pornography would have been less indecent than whatever was happening here. If eyes could bleed, they would. Oh, how they would bleed. Wait, what was happening now? No, no, don't - Connie attempted a split.

She failed.

Quenga, vadia, ra-ra-rapariga
Senta na minha cara, cara, cara
Quenga, vadia, ra-ra-rapariga
Senta na minha cara, cara, cara

Oh, that was actually a nice wig reveal. Maybe this wasn't so bad.

Sorry, I ate
I had an early lunch
We’re having fun
We’re having fun
We’re having fun
We’re having fun
We’re having fun

Oh no. Oh no, no, they were doing an interpretive dance. Truly, there could be no greater horror.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

There was no choice for the audience but to resign themselves to their fate. They wept as one, wishing only for death. What use was life if it meant they had to witness this atrocity?

We’re having fun
We’re having fun
We’re having fun
We’re having fun
We’re having fun

The song ended and the stadium plunged into darkness, only the sound of clacking heels retreating into the night ringing around the silent stadium.

No one spoke, or even let out a breath. They now knew the horror sound could bring, and they would never forget that lesson again.

38. Babylon - Lil Sebastian

Image
Montero - Lil Nas X

After the stadium cleaners had cleared up most of the sexual lubricant, glitter, bile, and blood from the last entry's performance, Lil Sebastian and his dancers took to the stage, waving out at a traumatised crowd. His white suit shimmers in hues of blue, purple, and pink under the lights, matched by his dancers in the back who wear the same thing, if only slightly more form fitting on them. He waits at the microphone near the front of the main stage for some time, his dancers lined up behind him and readying themselves for their performance. The Not Auphelian colours begin to flash in the screens behind him as a presenter's voice comes over the stadium, announcing him. Sebastian takes a breath and the camera in front of him blinks red, going live to houses all across the world. He begins.

Staring directly into the camera, he sings the soft opening verse, tilting his head slightly as the camera zooms in.

Vipers all around, I ate
Ignorance was such bliss, it’s too late
Paradise is finally lost today
Now the fruit of my desire condemns me to Hell

The camera cuts to a full view of the stage as the soft lighting pulsates, growing brighter with every beat, illuminating the stage in brighter light. The dancers begin to move as the song picks up momentum, their choreographed number delighting the audience as they recover from the horrors of the Auphelian performance. Their movements are precise and fluid, fuelled with personality and emphasising the movement of the upper body, arms and shoulders moving as their legs remain much more still.

Prodigal son? Boy you don’t know what you have done
Cast from your home, now livin’ on the run
Escaping from your chains and it’s time to start again
Baby, you’re hammerin’ just right, now get ready for the flood

The ambient lighting goes darker as specific beams of light run across the stage and flare out into the audience, the camera arcing around the lip of the stage and Sebastian reaching out towards it as it smoothly runs past him and along the line of dancers as they turn their bodies towards one another and begin clapping to the beat.

Find peace and lovin’ with your friends
Water into wine, drink, still you can’t forget
Forty days, caved to temptation
Slay me with your sling, boy, your arrow’s ecstacy

The chorus finally settles in and so does the audience, allowing themselves to enjoy the music as they block out the atrocities of the Auphelian performance. The camera cuts back to Sebastian head on and pulls out as he backs away from the microphone and camera, joining in with his dancers as they execute a complicated series of dancing movements, all arms and legs and body parts whirling around in a stunning display of choreographed skill. The person who could describe such a display would surely be counted among the greatest writers of their age.

It's a shame no one like that was watching.

Call me Babylon, I’mma ride the beast
Givin’ seven heads, speaking blasphemy
Praise the Lord our God, let us be at peace
Let us find our pleasure, get down on your knees like

With every "mmm" in the following verse, large spurts of smoke burst out from hidden cannons on stage, draping the floor of the stage in a soft purple and blue smoke that poured out into the main floor, pooling around the feet of the audience. The dancers began to wheel around in a relaxed manner, circular patterns around Sebastian as he pulled the microphone and stand back from the edge of the stage and to the centre and onto a small little platform.

Mmm, mmm, mmm
Mmm, mmm, mmm
Ayy, ayy

His dancers closed in around the small platform and dance around it, pantomiming the lyrics and generally being competent dancers. Then, upon asking "why me?", the small platform begins to rise up on a large pole from the stage slowly, one, two, three body lengths above the main stage by the time the next verse ends, his voice reverberating around the stadium.

I wanna revel in your trust
I wanna break your bread and feel that firm crust
I want our love to be worth more than silver
Why would I want Mary, I’ve got Judas
Oh, oh, oh, why me?
A revelation means I’ll never be free
Gospels and scriptures, my prison you’re writing
What a time, so divine, God was shinin' on me

Now I’m Isaac
A pawn in dirty games you playin’
Burn a bush, let me go, I’m not stayin’
I’m not the only one who’s sinning, we all sin

He dances above the stage as the pre-chorus begins, the platform finishing its rise to five full body lengths above the stage. His dancers move around as well in the smoke, leaping about like the athletes they are.

Find peace and lovin’ with my friends
Water into wine, drink, still I can’t forget
Forty days, caved to temptation
Slay me with your sling, boy, your arrow’s ecstacy

A large burst of smoke and flame obscure the stage for a moment and suddenly Sebastian and his dancers are no longer in their suits but rather leather harnesses and carefully placed straps to leave as much skin as possible open whilst still being decent enough for television. The audience gasps: at the beginning of the chorus, the floor to the platform opens and Sebastian begins to fall - before he grabs onto the pole holding the platform up and wraps himself around it, dancing along the pole as he slowly descends and his dancers continue their own dance below him. The lighting is now red, setting the stage awash in a monochromatic haze.

Call me Babylon, I’mma ride the beast
Givin’ seven heads, speaking blasphemy
Praise the Lord our God, let us be at peace
Let us find our pleasure, get down on your knees like

Sebastian continues to slide down the pole, letting go with his hands and slowly spinning around on the poll writhing in a sensual manner against the metal as he glides along it. Flames burst out to the beat, lighting up the darker shadows and casting wild lights through the smoke.

Oh, get down on your knees (mmm, mmm, mmm)
Thirty silver, accusing eyes
Call me Babylon (mmm, mmm, mmm)
Count three days and then I will rise

He hits the ground, black heeled boots first, and joins in the dance again before the dancers grab him and raise him up, his arms splayed out in a Christ-like pose as a camera descends from the ceiling, zooming on in his body as the dancers carry him along the stage and into the extra bit extending out into the crowd. At the last line, the dancers spin around and set Sebastian down before be leaps to his feet, flames shooting up in a wall behind them as the musical interlude plays.

You made me,
A sacrifice to save your flock
Die for their souls
What if I like to sin?
Screw them, I’m out

Sebastian and the dancers move as one body on the small outreach of stage, simulating certain sexual acts best not described in detail. Some more conservative audience members look away, but a loud roaring cheer pours forth from many as the stage blacks out upon the song's conclusion.

Oh, get down on your knees (mmm, mmm, mmm)
Get drunk on the blood of the saints
Call me Babylon (mmm, mmm, mmm)
I won’t be another martyr
