Sign-up and OOC Thread
Welcome to the OOC and Signups thread for the World Stage Rally Championship, a NationStates motorsport series based on its real world equivalent series: the World Rally Championship (WRC).
Despite previous attempts at hosting stage rally championships on the site, and with the partial exception of Hodori's excellently organized and impressively thorough domestic rally championship, none have quite been up to the same standard, both in terms of organization and player engagement, as the most popular motorsport series on the forums—namely, NSSCRA and WGPC. The WSRC attempts to bring the same engaging and player friendly format of the World Grand Prix Championship to stage rally.
This thread is dedicated to signups and OOC discussion of WSRC season 1. The series will be scorinated utilizing The Racing Scorinator, minimally adapted for use outside of a circuit racing environment.
Signups are open for drivers, teams , and rallies. Team signups will be evaluated and teams will be offered entry based on various factors, including number of driver signups, number of team signups, and NS Sports RP history.
To sign up for the coming season, read the information below and fill in one of the signup forms. Everything you need to know is written below. If you find anything confusing or unintuitive, you can use this thread as an OOC discussion thread.
RP thread here! The competitive season will start on the 16th of July. Team and Event signups are closed.
It's important for participants to have a look at all the information below before participating.
Things to Know (RP-ing Notes)
The WSRC will emulate the RP format and inter-player dynamics of the World Grand Prix Championship. Users will be able to sign up events, teams, and drivers, the latter as free agents, and will be encouraged to RP the stories of their competitors throughout the competitive WSRC season to attain, maintain and increase their RP bonuses and improve their chances of scoring good results.
The scorination of the WSRC will be undertaken using The Racing Scorinator, originally intended for use in track racing disciplines, but successfully adapted to stage rally divided into half-legs. Results will, initially, be published on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and once a week. The calculation of the standings after each leg and the final results of each rally will have to be manually calculated by the organizer, which means scorination might take somewhat longer than in a WGPC event and may encounter hiccups along the way. For the first season of WSRC, I plead for patience.
Signup Forms
DRIVERS
Every user may sign up a maximum of TWO drivers – no more than TWO per nation. Every driver starts off as a free agent, meaning they are not affiliated to any team. Drivers sign up to teams via roleplay in the RP thread.
The more RPing you do with your driver, the higher your RP bonus. The higher your RP bonus, the faster your driver is likely to be on the stages, the safer they are likely to be on the stages, and the more likely a team is to sign them—or keep them on the team.

RALLIES
Each user may sign up a maximum of TWO rallies from either puppets or their main nation. If a user chooses to submit two events based in the same nation, only one of the two would be considered for selection. The first season of WSRC will feature five full-length events and two rallysprints.
Signing up a rally is not a guarantee that it will be used in the upcoming WSRC season.
Instead of providing a circuit map, as in WGPC, signups will require a banner or logo for the rally, like this, this, or this. It needn't be extremely fancy, but it must indicate the name of the event. It isn’t necessary to provide a detailed itinerary of your rally or a stage map, but should you choose to do so, please do not use any real-life rally maps or stage names.
If you wish to calculate it yourself, the number of stages a half-leg of your rally will have will be provided by the following formula, rounded down to the nearest whole number: ([30/(avg. length)]+1) (if the answer is, for instance, 2.7, the number of stages will be 2). Do that formula for each of the half-legs (or, if the average stage length is the same in the whole rally, multiply the answer by 4) and you will get the number of total stages. Events must keep the average length of the stages in each of their legs at or below 30km. However, it is acceptable for one of the four half-legs to have an average stage length between 30.01km and 50km; the long half-legs will have a single run of the stage of the specified length.

TEAMS
Anyone is welcome to enter a team, although your team may not make the start line depending on various factors including demand. Your team begins with no drivers attached to it – you have to sign them from the pool of free agent drivers, and you can do so in the RP thread.
The more RPing you do with your team, the higher your RP bonus. The higher your RP bonus, the better your team is likely to perform, and the more likely a driver is to sign with them.
Submitting an image of the car of your team is not necessary, but if you wish to do so, I implore that you make sure the car template you have chosen to use is a rally car—not rallycross, not touring car—and I encourage you (less emphatically) to choose a four wheel drive vehicle’s template. This is for immersion purposes.
