Heart of the Middle-East
OOC
A battle for the heart of Iraq to determine the future of the Middle East.

The Levant and the Persianate, the two traditional civilizations of the Middle-East. Once upon a time, these two civilizations once shared the same heart in Iraq; but now it is the borderlands between the modern Levantine Empire, Turkey and its Levantine satellite states, and the modern Persianate, Iran and Iraq. As these two civilizations clash once more in Iraq, the future of the Middle East stands on the brink.

Iraq was divided during the Mesopotamian Water War, a conflict between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Turkey over the waters flowing through the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. In fear of Iraq falling to Turkish influence, Iran had swept in to occupy the southern region of Iraq which was Shia-majority and rich in oil; just as it had done so following the collapse of Saudi Arabia, sweeping in to occupy the Al-Ahsa Region. In the aftermath of the conflict, new regimes were set up in both North Iraq and South Iraq, each falling into Turkish and Iranian spheres of influence respectively.

Tensions between North Iraq and South Iraq have been boiling up for decades, and have flared up to the point of war. On April 20, 2069, North Iraqi forces crossed the border and launched an invasion of South Iraq. The South Iraqi forces were able to put up a formidable defense, and have so far repelled and obliterated the invading force. Now, South Iraq launches a counterattack; and with the backing of Iran, invades and seeks to occupy the north. Defenseless, the Northern Iraqi government pleads the Crescent Commonwealth and the international community to intervene on their behalf to resist Iranian influence.

The Crescent Commonwealth as a military alliance is bound by treaty to intervene in the defense of their ally, but technically this was an invasion on part of the North Iraqi government. Moreover, several members of the Crescent Commonwealth have close ties with Iran and are unwilling to risk these relations; causing division and hesitation within the alliance. Turkey, unwilling to let Iraq fall to its main rival Iran, is eager to intervene but yet relents to avoid breaking apart the alliance. Turkey's satellite states and states fearing Iranian influence have also pushed for intervention.

Each Iraq calls upon their allies to defend them, as the North falls back after a failed invasion while the South pushes forwards after a successful defense. The outcome of this conflict may ultimately decide the fate of the middle east, and the balance of power for the next century. Do you support the Turkish satellite state of North Iraq? Or the Iranian satellite state of South Iraq?

Baghdad, North Iraq
June 9, 2069

Explosions everywhere as dust and sand fly. Projectiles ring through the air a deafening cry, as civilians scream and cry and flee and hide. The fourth largest city in the Middle East and the largest and most important in North Iraq, Baghdad is battered by drones and missile fire as mechanized armies advance through the streets. With its army obliterated during its invasion of the South, the Northern forces are barely able to hold up a solid defense and are losing ground quickly.

Baba Gurgur Oil Field, Northern Iraq.
Ayden Ceannaí of the Tribe of Cork.

I was overall commander of the operations of the Gabha Security Consultant Company in Northern Iraq. It was a large scale deployment, mostly centered around two oil fields around the city of Kirkuk, to which we had deployed a total of twelve Banners, around a third of our entire strength.
We were a company of Selkie-Mercenaries, known through the ages as the best light and medium cavalry money could buy - while horses were not required anymore, quite on the contrary, we were still among the best, which was why we had been deployed here in such a force. After all, the Onyx Banner, one of the two dedicated Command and Control Units, did not move in everywhere, and we did not usually deploy the air units or the heavy vehicle unit either.
The troubles between Northern Iraq and Southern Iraq were no secret. Ever since the Turks and the Iranis had divided the country, and its still rich oil fields, among themselves, it has been a powder keg waiting for the spark. Apparently, someone had decided to not only give a spark, but a whole burning oil canister.
The fate of the Middle East was on the line.
And we... didn't give a shit.
We were paid to protect the oil fields, we would protect the oil fields. Politics was not our business.
That was, what the orders in my hand said, from the head office on Dúnar Island. Mister Banphrionsa had decided to get a move on, now that the Northern Iraqi Army had been soundly defeated and was being pushed back. The Crescent Commonwealth was preparing to move in - if it could make up its mind about whether to or whether not to. North of us was Turkey, a country not as delicious as its name suggested, which apparently was in favour of intervening, it was their puppet regime, which was in the process of loosing, after all.
I had two oil fields to protect, the Atrush Field and the Baba Gurgur Field. To whom our employers sold was of little interest to me, but I needed to know, what was coming. Only that way, I could plan an efficient defense.
"Call in 416.", I told my adjutant, leaning back in my chair, "I have a new mission for one of her Lances."
The Carnelian Banner was an Assassination Unit, dedicated to the craft of telling people, what the employers of GSCC thought of them by blasting their brains out from two klicks away, but it was also suited for long-range reconnaissance - exactly what I needed. While the Battle of Bagdad raged on, my T-Dolls, tactical android units designed to (mostly) look and act like himans, were entrenching themselves even deeper.
And in the cover of night, a lone Amadán Heavy Cargo Lifter, carrying six T-Dolls of the Carnelian Banner and their vehicle, departed our small impromptu airfield, heading south close to the ground. Their mission was reconnaissance, then to report back to me.
200 klicks north of Bagdad, still under the cover of night and far away from any fighting or prying eyes, they would land and begin their mission.
Meanwhile, the Head Office and a part of my staff were busily watching the news, trying to gleam any information from it, which we could get.
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

The IHS sent half of the Task Force to South Iraq to bolster its defence. They started bombarding military bases close to Baghdad and sent the other half to invade the city.

Iraqi Border - Saudi Arabia | 0300 hours | Task Force Illias
General Alexander MacDuff

It had taken way too long for us to unload and leave Jeddah, but finally it was done.

Task Force Illias represented a good portion of the Reichswehr. A mechanized naval infantry brigade, further ground combat units on standby in nearby NATO bases, air power, naval assets, and so forth. This was possibly the Commonwealth's largest deployment outside of Europe, certainly the largest since the Afghan war.

...and none of this would be used offensively. Prussia-Poland really didn't care for the Turks or Iranians, or for the Middle East. My orders were to secure oil supplies and establish a secure zone for civilians. How I was supposed to do this, was not told to me. As it was I would have to rely on the goodwill of the warring parties to keep my lines of supply open, for now.
The Northern Iraqi Army was being pushed back and was frantically calling for intervention, especially from Turkey. If it came, things could become hairy. Things were already hairy, in fact. Iranian proxies were infamously brutal, and if I were to protect civilians or oil supplies, as outlined in my mandate, aggressive action could be needed.

Baba Gurgur Oil Field, near the city of Kirkuk, seemed as good as a place as any to start, in any case.

As the night wore on and gave way to the rising sun, my column of AFVs pulled out of Saudi Arabia and into Northern Iraq. Ahead, a screen of reconnisance vehicles acted as a tripwire, while even further out, I knew, that a small group of commandoes were monitoring Baghdad for any change in the situation.

A lone T-Doll scanned the dunes.
She was not of the Gabha company; the white-and-red patch on her uniform's sleeve, the AS-Val she carried, and the heavy titanium Altyn helmet, were all proof of that. More importantly, however, was the battery of signal intelligence and electronic warfare modules incorporated within her.
Her radio crackled as she gazed at the city, silently combing through the radio transmissions of North and South Iraq. Shouted words in Arabic were translated, analyzed, and then anything intresting would be sent back to the main column, and on to headquarters in Sicily...if she found anything intresting, that was. Most transmissions were shockingly mundane.

So for now, Altyn waited, not far from where the T-Dolls of the Gabha Company had arrived.

As a token of goodwill, our government will provide K£7 million to starving children and families along with medics while providing refugee camps for the burdened. We don't want to get ourselves directly involved as we suffered enough bloodshed. Please take this as our gratitude. I wish you a nice day. And stay safe.

Crescent Commonwealth Headquarters
Istanbul, Republic of Turkey

Delegates all sat around in their chairs, right around a table. At the podium was Halime Seljuk, the Chairman of the Crescent Commonwealth. Behind her, the symbol of the Crescent Commonwealth; a crescent and a 32 pointed star, yet to be updated for the accommodation for some of the Crescent Commonwealth's newest members such as Tunisia. By the flanks of the podium, the flags of all the countries that are part of the Crescent Commonwealth.

The delegate of Turkey was passionate as he expressed support for North Iraq. "It is our sworn duty to protect our allies in the event of an invasion; we must help the Republic of Iraq stand against the Islamic Republic of Iraq!"

The delegate of Ukraine was tired, as if seeming not to care about the politics of the Middle-East. "This was not an invasion by the Islamic Republic of Iraq, but an invasion by the Republic of Iraq; we have no responsibility here."

Delegates from the states of the Persian gulf interjected. "This already is an invasion! Iran and its allies have begun deploying troops with the goal to completely annex North Iraq."

The delegate of Pakistan retorted. "There is no proof that Iranian troops are on the battlefield-"

The delegate of Iraq interrupted. "We have conclusive evidence that the Iranians are on the battlefield in Iraq. They've intervened in both the Mesopotamian Water War and the Saudi Collapse in order to secure and expand their influence-"

The delegate of Pakistan ignored the the delegate of Iraq, talking over him. "While we recognize the sovereignty of both North Iraq and South Iraq, there also comes to question some disputed lands between the two. Perhaps the government of North Iraq could open up early negotiations and cede rightfully South Iraqi, and maybe even Iranian land-"

The delegate of Iraq cried out. "Ya ibn sharmuta! You just don't want to step on your master's toes so you can have your pipeline with Iran you Persian lapdog!"

"Order! We must have order! Let us continue to discuss the matter civilly, and not resort to insults and fallacies. Even the Model United Nations sessions of children are more civil than this!" Chairman Halime Seljuk commanded.

Iraq

With support from their allies, the South Iraqi forces begin to plan their next move. Recalling what had divided Iraq in the first place, they realize their target. South Iraq is making plans to damage the dams of North Iraq along the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in order to cut off North Iraq's energy, destroy North Iraqi settlements, and provide greater access to water to South Iraqis downstream.

Destroying dams in North Iraq will cut off the power supply to most of North Iraq. The dams in North Iraq provide a massive amount of electricity, which most of North Iraq's infrastructure relies on. The mass destruction of dams would significant damage North Iraq's ability to support its own economy, much less wage an effective war. Moreover, it would cause mass civil unrest; which would play right into the hands of South Iraq.

The floods will destroy a considerable amount of North Iraqi settlements. As has been the case throughout history, large settlements tend to form around sustainable freshwater sources like rivers. The floods caused by a breach in the dams would destroy most of the settlements downstream. This would leave thousands and potentially millions homeless, and cause significant damage to the North Iraqi economy and also cause massive civil unrest.

The flooding will provide water to South Iraq downstream. South Iraq's water supply has been severely depleted, thanks to the holding back of the water by dams in North Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey. Moreover, due to being heavily diluted; the water has become poisoned and unsafe to consume due to pollution. Causing dam breaches in North Iraq would provide South Iraqis with much needed water and relief.

The South Iraqi command has begun to draft plans to somehow cause dam breaches in the North. This would cut off the North's energy, destroy Northern settlements, and provide the South with much needed freshwater. South Iraq will secretly discuss with its allies how to conduct this plan.

200 klicks from Baghdad.

More like Baggedhdad, as the first scan of the frequencies revealed. There was a lot of panicked screeching by Northies and triumphant Southies, a lot of communication going back and forth. We made out communication hubs in the structure, but we would have to find their location, if we wanted to act against them.
If.
As that was not our mission... six T-Dolls and two vehicles, both of them Utility Cars, Light, Model 2054, one of the Special Operations variant (with the extra rear-faching swing mount and the small arms resistant armor) and one of the utility variant, carrying our electronic surveillance equipment and additional battery packs, additional ammunition and a few other goodies.
The Amadán took off with a whoosh of its heavy jet engines, making its way home. It, or one of its colleagues, would come back in a few days to pick us up again, once our mission was finished. They could take with them an initial report of Baghdad having fallen.
They did receive a news report, however: Apparently, not only was the Crescend Commonwealth in shambles over if or if not to intervene, but also the Poles, old friends of our homecountry the Free Lands, had a sizable task force nearby, which was there to protect the oil.
Not many people apparently gave a damn about the people here, which was fine by me.
One advantage of being a T-Doll was, that I was not dependant on verbal communication, however. We had short-range radios installed into us, which made using our vocabulators unnecessary, at least among us. That made us detectable at a certain range by specialized equipment (which we carried, too), but no human, depending on his six senses, could hear us speak.
"Saddle up, girls.", I commanded over that short-range radio, getting into the passenger seat of the leading vehicle.
We were Selkie-made T-Dolls, which meant, that we still had the tail for stabilizing (and the animal ears to match, because it didn't look right any other way). What we didn't need anymore were the 'Chest-Mounted Additional Battery Packs', although some of my girls still had them.
Six T-Dolls, armed for force reconnaissance, with carbines and sniper rifles, were hardly enough to stop the South Iraqi Army, but again, that was not our mission. Force Reconnaissance, so that Onyx Banner knew, what he could expect.

Baba Gurgur Oil Field, Northern Iraq.
Pina Barróg of the Tribe of Cork.

While the Carnelian Banner was conducting reconnaissance, or rather the D-Lance did, we had another mission: I led the Fuchsia Banner. We had the heavy vehicles, which included three Gabha Motorworks G 47 Utility Half-Tracks of the armoured engineer variant. T-Dolls did not need sleep and neither did autonomous vehicles, but the employees did - we did not care. We were digging in.
Trenches, fortified positions for ATGMs, AAGMs and AT-Railguns, machine gun nests - our positions at the Baba Gurgur and Atrush Oil Fields were fortresses. And the most important part, which the powers in this war should remember, we were not hostile to anyone - unless we were attacked.
Then, things would get hairy.

'Saddle up, girls.'

That caught Altyn's attention, and she began to silently monitor the frequency it had occured on. A smile began to break out on her face as the chatter continued- there were, evidently, Selkie-mercenaries in the area. That was good; Selkie-Mercenaries were predictable and sane, much like their country.
Altyn briefly weighed the risk of contacting them, and decided it was negligble, before dialing up her own radio and speaking into it - unfortunately, the need to carry processing power, batteries, and most importantly her non-standard electronic warfare equipment had meant that she had to remove her internal radio.

The Selkie-mercenaries would hear a brief crackle as Altyn's radio dialed into their frequency, before she began to speak.

The vehicles stopped, the Remote Weapons Stations on the roofs awoke to life, Lilly manned the rear-facing machine gun on the lead vehicle, I dismounted, as did Cao and Belana, carbines at the ready.
We were not attacked. That was good.
We had been detected. That was bad.
The one, who had detected us, had no started shooting at us. That was good.
Instead, we were asked to identify ourselves. There were better things.
It was a reconnaissance element from Task Force Ilias, the Poles. That was good.
I activated my radio.
"This is GSCC-Doll 139 Marla, of the Carnelian Banner of the Gabha Security Consultant Company.", I replied over the short-range radio. "Who do I have the pleasure with?"

Altyn
200 km from Baghdad

"General Dynamics Land Division Tactical Doll, Infantry, M192." Altyn began to rattle off. "Serial number A-001, callsign 'Altyn'."
Altyn began to zoom in on the horizon, attempting to locate the Selkie-mercs. "Where you lot at?" she asked. "And why are you lot here? Oil fields, I'm guessing?"

While she spoke, she silently liased with MacDuff and made him aware that Selkie-mercs were in the area; possibly guarding the vital oilfields. She would keep him in the loop and would try to get the Selkie-dolls to let him speak with their commander.

"It's my pleasure, Altyn.", I replied over radio, "And yes, in general, we are here to guard oil fields near Kirkuk. Some people with far too much money at stake were getting nervous... we in particular are here for reconnaissance, simply to see, what's coming up from the South."
I was not too concerned about revealing our mission to her. Motioning for Cao, I got her to the radio - she would, in a minute or two, contact Onyx with news of our new acquaintance.
Meanwhile, another gesture and Scahach and Fiona were starting to triangulate, simply to know, where Altyn was. She might not be able to tell, where we were, but we would be able to tell, where she was - for better or worse for all involved.
"I'm guessing, that TF Ilias is one of the things moving north?", I asked to keep her talking. "What's at stake for you here?"

Altyn
Altyn chuckled. "Same thing as you are. Antsy about the oil- Hang on. Give me a second."

Abruptly, Altyn switched off the radio, and switched to her sattelite phone, which had begun to ring.
"Altyn-" the voice crackled. "How's it going?"

"Oh, go fuck yourself, MacDuff." Altyn grumbled. "I was in the middle of talking to them."
"Aren't you worried of being triangulated?"
"What'll they do then, eh? I can hold 'em off, barring them having a tank or air support, and I doubt they want to piss you off. You'd bring a world 'o hurt on 'em. The one we're dealing with is one 'GSCC-Doll 139 Marla', Carnelian Banner of the Gabdha Security Consultant Company. I'm sending you the logs and shit too, just in case they try to gank me. "You talk too much."
"Shut up."
"I'll pretend I didn't hear that. Patch me through."
"...Come again?"
"Patch me through, tin-can."
"...fine. Give me a moment."

Altyn switched back to the radio-frequency and began to speak again. "The guy in charge of Illias wants to speak with you. His name's MacDuff. Sorry."

A brief period of static ensued, followed by a male voice picking up. "This is General MacDuff of Task Force Illias. We are currently heading towards Baba Gurgur Oil Field to ensure the safe supply of oil and to establish a safe zone centered around the city of Kirkuk. Will there be any conflict with your operations?"

We waited while she talked with someone else - Fiona gave me a raised thumb.
Scahach had her in her sights. A second thumb, meaning, that she was a T-Doll and that she was alone.
We might not blow her away now that we knew that, but better safe then sorry.
Then, I got patched through to her boss, a General MacDuff. There had been an officer by that name a few decades ago, but she had been female. This one was male.
"It's a pleasure, General.", I told him politely, "I'm afraid, that you'll have to talk with my superiors about that. My boss over at Baba Gurgur is a certain Ayden Ceannaí of the Tribe of Cork. He always admired General Lilliane MacDuff." I don't know, why I added the last piece of information. "You can find our head office's phone number on the internet. I am sure, that they can get you in touch with them... alternatively, you tell Altyn to come with us as your emmissary and, hopefully, ultimately, liaison officer."

A long silence followed, occasionally punctuated by muffled talking. Finally, MacDuff replied.

"Altyn... will accompany you. If she dies I'll have questions that I expect you to answer. And...funny thing." A slight chuckle could be heard on Alexander's end. "...She's my aunt. And her scones are horrible. She can't cook worth a damn. Tell your boss that. Signing off."

The briefing room of ADF Stalongrad, somewhere in the gulf of Oman

Lines of pilots, sitting in plastic chairs facing a interactive screen, with a podium tucked in a corner, that's what the Carrier's briefing room is, even after all those years of renovations, upgrades, and modifications. this area was never even touched or altered. Yet still, it has held up over the years, today. The pilots, crew, and officers of the Antartican fleet are quite litteraly in unknown waters; the gulf of oman, they are, like their fathers, grandfathers did years before, going to war.

"Alright, ATTENTION!"
the rows of pilots snap to attention, their gaze foward at
The officer on the podium, one lieutenant commander Miron Egorov.
"Alright, before we start the briefing, i would like to give an updated report kn our situation. As of 0600 hours, The socalist state of Sharfaristan, which as you may know, is quite close to the middle east, has approved the request for logistical support on antartican operations in the reigon, we can expect deliveries of additilnal fuel and supplies within the week....
Now, with that buissness out of the way, lets start with today's briefing."
The screen flickers to life as Miron says this.
"In twenty minutes time, the Stalongrad will be relocating to the gulf of persia, this body of water, though unimportant and menial on the surface, the Stalongrad can use this body of water to launch long-range strike sorties into northen territory and the iraqi city of Baghdad. However, in order to relocate to such a location, we will have to get through it first. Though we expect no hostile contafts while en route to the gulf, Standard protocol does indicate that we will have to launch patrol sorties, so listen up:
Each squadron will patrol the area surronding the carrier, the squadron will be divided into wings to individually sweep the "patrol zone" each sqaudron will be on watch for four hours, where is then replaced. All aircraft are premitted to interrogate any aircraft with a IFF signature that is NOT civilian, i will now read out the sqaudrons that will stand watch"
The Commander clears his throat, and begins reading out the names of the five sqaudrons in order, snall groans can be heard from the ones that have to launch first.
"That's about it, first watch launches in twenty minutes and counting, dismissed"
The pilots shuffle into the hallway outside when feel that the ship is turning, changing course,
Towards the gulf

Former Frozen commie hole somewhere in Antarctica. Now rebranded as an slightly less frozen and less commie hole somewhere in the South Atlantic, we out-navy the Russian Navy (This is less of a brag now. Isn't it?).

Islamic Republic of Iraq bombs Republic of Iraq Dams

Around a Dam
Somewhere in North Iraq

The scorching sun beats against the vast deserts of Iraq, producing a heatwave that could cook a steak. Endless dunes of yellow however come to an end and blend into patches of green, as cool blue streams and rivers flow throughout Mesopotamia. Farms and towns pop up across the rivers and around the lakes, as dams provide an abundancy of both freshwater and electricity to the locals. A falcon screeches as it soars through the great blue sky, scanning the landscape for its prey while its master watches from down below. A farmer tends to his crops, as children play across the fields. The water in the reservoir is calm and pristine, even as it flows through the dam to power turbines that hum silently.

On break, Farajullah watches the vast landscape from atop the dam. Even with the war raging on down south far downstream, it seems that life is as mundane as it is every other day. He looks at the watch on his wrist, it is high noon. He shields his eyes as he looks up to the sky. No wonder its so damn hot.

"Assalamu alaykom warahmatullah wabarakatu. If you want to enjoy your break, maybe look at the lake, not the sun." Abu says as he approaches Farajullah, holding two cans of cola. He tosses one over to his friend, and takes a quick gulp from his own.

Farajullah catches the can. It is cool, fresh from the vending machine. "Wa-alaykom assalam warahmatullah wabarakatu. We stare at the lake all day long. What difference does it make?"

Abu holds his can of cola as he stares at the lake. "Nothing really. Just that if you stare at the lake you won't get blind."

Farajullah chuckled a bit. "Man, its just really really boring. Nothing ever happens here."

"Hey, at least we're safe from the fighting down south. Lots of people down south don't even have water. Here we have- Well, a lake."

"Well yeah, but even then there should at least be some change right? Its all so mundane otherwise."

"That's okay. Mundane is safety."

Farajullah sighed, before taking a sip of cola. "I know- Its just, if I'm gonna do nothing for most of the day, I'd rather just do nothing at home with my kids."

"Your kids probably won't. They'll want to go outside and play by the river maybe."

"Then I'll go outside and play with them. I just wish you know, that something not boring would happen-"

A loud noise rings and screeches through the air, bullets fire across the air. Before they even knew what was happening, there was a massive flash of light followed by a big cloud of smoke. Water begins to flow rapidly from the reservoir lake, as cement cracks and crumbles.

"The world is shocked and rattled as dams in the Republic of Iraq are destroyed by South Iraqi airstrikes. We have confirmed reports of hundreds of thousands of civilians dead and millions injured due to the following ongoing mass flooding alone. The attack was carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iraq with Iranian equipment this noon against the Republic of Iraq.

Residents across the Mesopotamia were enjoying what was otherwise a normal day, despite the war further downstream. Unexpectedly, massive explosions destroy the local dams and cause a massive flood, wiping out farms and towns by the river. The damage to the infrastructure has caused an unprecedented billions in deaths and damages, as well as cutting off millions across North Iraq to much needed freshwater and electricity. The attack was carried out by South Iraqi forces, with experts deducing that the strategic goal in mind was to cut off North Iraq from electricity and freshwater, as well as allow water to flow downstream to South Iraqi settlements.

The attack has crippled the entire country of North Iraq, while South Iraq celebrates many liters of freshwater finally flowing down to their settlements allowing millions of South Iraqis to drink clean freshwater for the first time in decades. Reports indicate that the flood is still ongoing, and everyone is warned to stay away from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. This is TRT World News."

I filed the information about General MacDuff's aunt away for later, my boss would surely love to hear that one, but right now, I had to greet our new emmissary/liaison officer.
"Yes, I do actually.", I said, just as the RMS shifted slightly, "Mainly because behind you is Happy Fun Zone Baghdad. No offense to you, though, Altyn." I noticed, that she was dressed for the area, really, wearing deep green. Then again, we were hardly better. "Anyway, pleasure to meet you. Cao, call the transport back, we need to return early."
"Understood."
We were using our Vocabulators for that.

Baba Gurgur Oil Field, Northern Iraq.
Ayden Ceannaí of the Tribe of Cork.

Around six hours later, the Long-Range Reconnaissance Lance returned with a passenger. Altyn, an emmissary from Task Force Ilias. On a day filled with bad news, this was a breath of fresh air.
Somebody had decided, in the early hours of the day, to start blowing up dams.
The death toll was tremendous, the damages to infrastructure immense, death and heartache all over the place as the water, giver of life, proved, that it could just as easily take life.
There was a certain poetry behind it, that was for sure.
Of course, the blame was quickly assigned: South Iraqi Forces with Iranian Aid. And of course, the first people were at the metaphorical gates of Baba Gurgur asking for help for their villages and towns or just their farms and my T-Dolls kept them at a distance. One of them, from the Cerulean Banner, had even gone so far as to literally make a while line in the dust, which the Iraquis were not allowed to cross.
The first one to do was absolved from all problems, not to mention his brain, immediately. That had shut up the rest of the help-seekers.
The problem was, that we were not equipped for such an operation, let alone paid. And even if both were the case, we were also not trained for it.
We had power, though, diesel generators keeping everything, including my command truck, running.
I stepped out into the harsh sun for the first time in what felt like ages, pulled the headset from my head as I approached the two waiting T-Dolls. I recognized Marla, her companion in green had to be Altyn.
"Morning. And it's not a good one.", I said and extended my hand, "Ayden Ceannaí of the Tribe of Cork. The girls call me Commander, but Ayden is fine, too." Marla smiled slightly sheepish. "You must be Altyn. Would you like a cuppa tea?"
I play PT, MT and a bit FT. I am into character-RPs.
My people are called the Selkie, the nation is usually called the Free Lands in MT-settings. Thanks.

"Pleasure to meet you too." Altyn replied, as she waited for the helicopter to arrive. Soon after, she boarded it with the Selkie.

By the time she arrived at Baba Gurgur, morning had come, and with it news of the flood. This was bad news, and news that had to be sent to Macduff as soon as possible; they had brought some food and medical supplies, but nothing in the way of construction materials or medicine, the intention being mainly to work with NGOs that would arrive to establish a proper camp. But the flood complicated matters, severely; backup generators ate up fuel that the Task Force needed and could not bring in easily. Neither would the oil well be of any use; crude oil was worthless for Illias.

Altyn's cloud churned over this as she went to meet with the Commander of the Selkie-mercs. She didn't have the answers to these problems; thankfully, though, they weren't hers to solve.

Altyn tapped her hip flask and shook her head. "Nah, alcohol's more practical for me." she replied. "Can't get drunk and easy to convert to energy. But thanks for the offer, Commander Ceannai." She grabbed Ayden's hand and shook it, taking care not to crush his hand. "Our unit's headed up here and they'll be setting up a safe zone for the civilians yonder. We don't expect you lot to feed them, but MacDuff says a shared security cordon and whatnot would be nice. He also said that Germans would be arriving to reinforce us soon on the way here."

IC name is "Blauveldt-Ryszana".

A traumatized, but recovering, MT-Early PMT/FanT constitutional monarchy consisting of a personal and constitutional union of two Realms. Features: near-universal gun ownership, governmental dysfunction, terrified Christinaslander Air National Guard personnel counting down the days until they rotate back home, and an eternal standoff with the last of it's former oppressors.
