The Roaring Twenties, 1925 to be precise. The American age of Prohibition is in full swing. Alcoholic beverages are illegal to sell in the Americas, but that does not mean that ships heading to the Cartune Isles can’t serve them. That is what some foreign companies are doing to spite the American liners forbidden to sell liquor on their ships. The British-owned, Cartune Island maintained company, The Pacific-Oriental Steam Navigation Company has chartered a route from the port of Long Beach, to Port Gallagher in what is now modern-day Cartoonia.

Welcome aboard lucky passenger (no matter how you got your tickets)! Feeling tired of prohibition in America, or even your own country (if they implemented prohibition)? Want to waste all of your worries away in a single bottle? Want to see the Cartune Isles, or look for new opportunities? Don’t fret darlings! The S.S. Fascination is here to serve all of your alcoholic needs. Come upstairs to the bar, enjoy the jazz band and their selection of tunes they will perform, dance the Charleston till your feet drop! The party doesn’t stop once we reached our destination, The Cartune Isles has officially ruled against prohibition since they are a colony of the US and they don’t have to conform to any state-wide legislation without proper representation.

Whether you are a rich traveler, an immigrant to find job opportunities, or just a tourist in need of some alcohol, The S.S. Fascination has a little something for everyone! Have fun, get drunk, and enjoy the Cartune Isles and its rapid development.

Rules of the play

1. As all of you read, this is a historic RP, keeping in mind that it is 1925. Let me repeat. Historical RP.

2. With that said, this is a social and character RP. This should be a chance for people to develop their national history and the people who inhabit it.

2.1 Human and Humanoid characters only (I don’t care how you make or describe the characters, make them 1000 years old, make them immortal, as long as it is within reason though (probably shouldn’t have given that example IDK).

2.2 For profile images, if you are going to use them, please put spoilers or provide a link to said image.

2.3 I don’t think I have to remind everyone, but this thread should be PG-13. We are not painting nor describing anyone like Jack’s French girls alright? Good.

3. As far as it’s concerned, I’ll be in control of the captain and a few various other officers and staff. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t play as crew. I’ll be playing captain and chief officer, so I’m open to having other people as lower officers.

4. I know some RPs in the past ask for a port of call to leave for the main destination, but I will be shipping out of the Port of Long Beach, which will make sense since it is a “booze cruise” coming out of the United States, but if anyone wants to suggest a layover port be my guest.

4.1 Actually, if you want to suggest a starting port for this RP, be my guest! Otherwise, we will start in some Long Beach.

5. NO DISASTERS AT SEA. That means we won’t be having icebergs, no rocks, no torpedoes, no saboteurs, this is not the Titanic, this is not the Lusitania, this is not the Atlantic, and this is not the Costa Concordia, I can not stress this enough. (However, the ship will be going into rough storms).

6. I want to keep criminal activity to a minimum, so I am okay with stowaways, pickpockets, theft, bootlegging, etc. Anything more serious MUST be cleared by me. Any assault on the crew will result in detainment and expulsion onto the next port of call.

7. If you have any other questions, please ask me here in the OOC or TG me! Don't worry, I won't bite

8. You should provide an RP example of your work. If it’s your first time doing a character/social RP my best advice is to follow the other players. I’ll accept NS Social Media sites (PruCh, SETSUZOKU, PUNCH, etc.).

Just so people who want to become stokers know, this steamship just converted its fuel source from coal to the more efficient oil (as it was becoming more optimal by the 1920s) so the need for coal stokers will not (I REPEAT NOT) be needed.

Hospitality Crew (Suergron, chefs, bakers, barbers, bartenders, etc.): $20 + tips per month plus room, board, and meals (Second Class Accommodations). Rotating days off.

Deck Crew (Helmsman, Quartermaster, Master-at-arms, etc.): $25 per month plus room, board, and meals (Crew Quarters). Rotating days off.

Ship officers: $40 per month plus room, board, and meals (private cabins). Rotating days off but on-call as needed.

Telegraph Operators: (2) One-time payment of $120 ($1,831.23) plus room, board, and meals (private cabins). Due to the Radio Act of 1912, the ship’s radio MUST be in operation 24/7, NO EXCEPTIONS! Preferably done in 12-hour posts by two operators.

RP Example:

The Lacienian Naval Academy, in a clear bid to simultaneously create propaganda and encourage good performance, allowed the two highest scoring students there to accompany the High Consul and his delegation to Romextly. Henry Tanner and Catherine Rogers were the two lucky students who were selected. Neither of them offered a word of complaint and they were soon on a flight to Romextly.

Upon a rather nice introduction to Romextly, both were told to make their way to the room of teens. Again, neither disobeyed and did as told almost immediately. Catherine was the first to enter the room and when she entered, she was greeted with the sight of three people in their late teens. Two of whom appeared to have be Romextlian Cadets. The other was a muscular looking girl. Catherine, upon realizing that she might be the youngest, began scanning the room for any novels that might be worth a read. Henry also began scanning the room, this time to look over the people. Both were interrupted when one of the two cadets from Romextly approached and asked, “Good morning to you. What are your names?”
The response from Henry came near immediately, “Good morning to you too. I am Henry Tanner. Nice to meet you.” Catherine’s response, though slightly more delayed, also came fast, “I too, wish you a good morning. My name is Catherine Rogers. Pleasure to meet you.” Henry, believing that the giving of names was needed, asked, “And now may I ask your name?"

Thank you, Cartoonia, I found the time to write the apps up (please see below).
As for a city as a port of call... well, it would have to be a city at a reasonable course between Long Island and Port Gallagher - as we want that to be near the end of the trip, it would imply a short distance between Port Gallagher and any city I propose. As, according to your factbooks, Cartoonia is in the Middle Pacific Ocean, the city would have to be there, too. As none of my nations use real world maps (with the exception of The Jungferninseln, yes, that one is me), I'm afraid, that I have to decline on second thought. Sorry.

Awesome! Take as much time as you need, plenty of first class cabin space. You can tell me which city you want for as a port of call. Currently it seems we will be going from Port of Long Beach to Port Gallagher, but it could change with more ports added!

As for a city as a port of call... well, it would have to be a city at a reasonable course between Long Island and Port Gallagher - as we want that to be near the end of the trip, it would imply a short distance between Port Gallagher and any city I propose. As, according to your factbooks, Cartoonia is in the Middle Pacific Ocean, the city would have to be there, too. As none of my nations use real world maps (with the exception of The Jungferninseln, yes, that one is me), I'm afraid, that I have to decline on second thought. Sorry.
