The 1st Elephant Chess Cup
Overview
The Elephant Chess Cup is a chess competition that will be hosted for the first time in Newport, South Newlandia. Teams of 4 will compete against each other in rapid (15+5) chess for the title.
Format
There will be 9 total matches for all teams on 5 different scorination days, either in a round-robin or Casaran system depending on the final number of participating teams. The top two teams after this will play in the final, where the higher seeded team has draw odds, and teams placing below that will be playing placement games.
Scorination
I will be using xkoranate to scorinate team chess matches, and the tabulate function to compile the standings.
Puppet rules
Teams do not necessarily have to come from a single nation, and may instead consist of up to 4 nations. All nations in such an arrangement will have to confirm their participation individually. Every nation may only take part in one team, while a second team may be operated with a puppet.
Roleplay
Chess knowledge is not required to participate in this competition. You are free to roleplay about whatever you want, and do not have to mention the results at all.
Timing and Experience
I plan to start the tournament around the same time as the knockout stages of the Cup of Harmony. My credentials include a CE and a WBC. I also used to scorinate a chess league.
