Barunia Suns
World Cup 87 Squad

Barunia seem to have found a team that works. There have been minor changes of course: Karly Seymour comes in for the injured Simon Thompson, who tore an ACL in the X-League semi-finals, Pablo Saurez has been dropped in favour of Richard Hall, and Adam Starc retired, replaced by Clive Rushton. Other than those small changes, the team remains unchanged, with most of the players having been around for two cycles now. The big names are all up the front of course: Moorhouse, last year’s X-League top scorer; Neville Swan, the captain; and Emmanuel Carter, generally regarded as the greatest Barunian footballer in years. With such a team, the Suns expected to finish near the top of the group, but instead they crashed and burned. The axe had to swing, and it landed firmly on the neck of the coach, with Rafael Barrios giving his marching orders. That leaves the team in a crisis of sorts, with no manager to take them into the CoH. Hopefully, that will be resolved before the tournament begins.

St Trinians is a matriarchal anarchy. The society is completely lawless, and the monarch, or Matriarch, rules by the principle of "Might is always right", a phrase that appears in the national anthem. There was a lot of difficulty in naming 23 players for the national team, as each powerful gang leader and noble wanted to have their way. Politics in St Trinians involves a lot of threats and placating. After much political posturing, the Matriarch herself named the team.

St Trinians' national motto is "Get your blow in first", and the team will follow this philosophy. Relentless attack is the order of St Trinians football, and the team employ a 2-3-5 strategy which attempts to overwhelm the opponent with constant shots on goal. As true anarchists, St Trinaisn' players have little regard for rules, personal safety, or the right of other players to not be carried off on a stretcher. Expect fouls, injuries, and cards galore.

Team information for starting 11
1. Millicent Becket
Tall and athletic, Becket is probably the best player on the team in terms of pure skill. That's a good thing, as she'll get little help from her defenders. Always serious, Becket will be one of the few St Trinians players unlikely to recieve a card. She has become one of the team's poster girls.

2. Dottie Carmicheal
With her teased hair and facial piercings, Carmichael's appearance screams alternative. While she might be small and shy, she makes up for it with an almost psychopathic aggressiveness and a tendency to know just where a person's weak spots are.

3. Nonie Swindlehurst
Big, solid, and mean, Swindlehurst employs a simple approach to defence: run through the opponent. And if that doesn't work, break their jaw. Intimidating anywhere on the field, her presence in a crowded box becomes terrifying. Nonie is the most likely player on the team to pick up a red card, and that's saying something.

4. Frankie Tipton
Tipton is a hyperactive ball of energy that always seems to be in the best of spirits. It's unclear how much of that is natural and how much is due to the recreational drugs she frequently takes. What is clear is that this restless energy means she is perfect for the holding midfielder role as the first line of defence and the start of attack.

5. Miracle Butler
Miracle is from an upper-class family, and is a social media star. Her presence on the team was paid for, the Matriarch receiving a large sum of cash. Miracle hopes this will pay off in the form of an uptick in her followers, which is all she seems to care about. With training she has become a passable midfielder, but certainly not world class.

6. Essie Gardner
Don't let the outlandish makeup and bright hair fool you, Gardner has an evil streak. She knows all the dirty tricks, and she's not afraid to pull them out. From Galloway, a city known for it's often brutal gang violence, its quite possible that Gardner has the highest kill count of any of the team.

7. Temperance Porter
Porter is one of two captains for the side. She is a highly-talented footballer with clinical passing skills and a decent right boot that has made her an excellent choice to lead the team. She also has serious anger management issues, and will lash out if provoked.

8. Ilsa De Grandhomme
Of the many upper class girls on the team, De Grandomme is undoubtedly the highest on the ladder, as it were. and the most well-connected. Her naming as co-captain is seen by many as a favour to her mother, a personal friend of the Matriarch. She's not without talent though, and will send in many crosses into the box. Also likely to take free kicks from range.

9. Elisabeth Speight
Born to a low-class family on the mean streets of Galloway, Speight's inclusion shocked the upper-class establishment. Speight was chosen by the Matriarch herself after footage emerged of Elisabeth taking penalties in a school match. She is the most accurate striker on the team, and will be the penalty taker.

10. Alyson Granger
Granger is at centre forward for one reason and one reason only: shock value. A tall, strong woman, Granger dominates in aerial contests. It helps that she has an accurate header as well. Her approach to goalscoring is just to kick the ball as hard as possible in the direction of the goal. Shots from Granger are best described as rockets.

11. Poppy Appleton
The exact opposite of Granger, Appleton is the youngest player on the team. Arguably the brains of the team, her skills lie more in running circles around defenders and pouncing on loose balls (always a possibility with Granger on the team).

PLAYER INFORMATION

GK: Pedja Kasun, 31, Ararat Severyan [MYT]
75 caps, 0 goals
He's been the best goalkeeper in Mytanija for years now but he didn't enjoy the best of seasons last time out as Ararat's much vaunted defensive prowess disappeared for much of the 28/29 campaign. Kasun was left with more work to do than usual and whilst he did okay he wasn't as brilliant as in previous years and due to the high standard he has set himself it was extremely noticeble. He's a great shot-stopper and communicator; possessing good reflexes and speed in order to rush out towards oncoming forwards too. He stands at 195cm so is an imposing presence between the posts whilst also being useful with his distribution of the ball, something which is especially important in Repin's team.

GK: Semir Besak, 21, Olympic Thessia [MYT]
8 caps, 0 goals
Winner of the Golden Glove award domestically in the season just gone, Besak has an extremely impressive honours list for such a young goalkeeper. He was a part of the Olympic Thessia team which won the club its first ever league title two seasons ago, he has twice finished second in the running for Under-23 Player of the Season as well as a third place in the Golden Glove to go with his win in that this year. Besak can do a bit of everything, he's a brave shot-stopper and uses his height to good effect when coming out to claim high balls and crosses with confidence. The part of his game he may need to work on is his distribution, but that should come with time, he has a very bright future ahead of him. Besak was the starting goalkeeper for the Mytanar under-21 squad as they finished third in the most recent Di Bradini Cup.

GK: Zafer Muminovic, 28, Tekstil Ibon [MYT]
7 caps, 0 goals
Third choice goalkeeper who has impressed domestically over the past few years despite never having one of the best-stocked defences in front of him in terms of personnel. This is a spot which he has largely locked down over the years, Muminovic doesn't expect to be starting for the national team but is quite happy to accept the role of back-up. Domestically he has been extremely steady and finished 2nd in the running for the Golden Glove award at the end of the 28/29 season with 13 clean sheets in 30 games.

DL: Srdan Vukovic, 31, 1896 Ebor [MYT]
77 caps, 3 goals
Probably the most comprehensively skilled full back in the squad, Vukovic was a left-sided midfielder early on in his career and that means he's equally adept when marauding forward as he is when fulfilling his defensive responsibilities. He's an extremely important player in the 4-3-3/3-1-3-3 formation that Lev Repin has settled on, with him acting as a normal full-back out of possession and a roaming number 8/10 hybrid when Mytanija regain the ball, opponents may often find that attacks flow down his side of the pitch because of his skill going forwards. A fine crosser of the ball and good link-up play mean he is an integral cog in the teams attacking play, with his on-field relationships with the likes of Fejzuli, Hrdaljko, Gavrilovic and Odonelec likely being crucial to the team's fortunes.

DC: Grigorij Savicevic, 25, AC Izotz Zubia [AUD]
31 caps, 2 goals
A real thoroughbred of a footballer Savicevic initially came through the Crvena Zvezda youth system before being bought by Atletik Thessia and helping them to the Top League title whilst being named under-23 Player of the Season. That award brought him to the attention of foreign scouts and he's now made a big money move to Audioslavian giants Izotz Zubia. He's a tall ball-playing central defender, as comfortable using his pace and strength to shrug someone out of possession as he is playing a pass to break through the opposition's defensive lines. He has an excellent attitude to the game too, something which cannot always be said of some Mytanar players who end up at Atletik and believe that they have made it and they no longer need to put in 100%.

DC: Mojmir Anac, 31, Olympic Thessia [MYT]
88 caps, 3 goals
Olympic's inspirational captain who led them to their first ever Mytanar Top League title in the 27/28 season, being named the Player of the Season and in the most recent Galacticos long list as a result. Anac is definitely the best Mytanar centre-back around at the moment and is pretty much undroppable when fit. He's a really solid all-rounder, great in all aspects of his defensive work - heading, tackling, marking, you name it - but also good at bringing the ball out from the back and finding passes to break through the lines of the opposition's formation. Anac was not selected as often during World Cup qualifying as he might have been in the past due to the emergence of some promising young central defenders, with Lev Repin wanting to give them match experience as soon as it became obvious Mytanija were not going to be in contention for one of the top two positions. Anac returns to the starting line-up for the Cup of Harmony however.

DR/L: Patrik Odonelec, 24, Atletik Thessia [MYT]
26 caps, 1 goal
Patrik Odonelec is a member of the famous Odonelec footballing clan, he's the cousin of brothers Jasno and Usten and he plays alongside the former with his club side Atletik Thessia (Patrik born in Thessia, unlike his cousins who were born in Prahecq). He is as good on either foot and that is a useful skill as a defender as it means he can play on either side of the defence. He also boasts good physical attributes as well as being an intelligent player. His anticipation and positioning have always been noted as being advanced beyond his age. Going forward he can be a little hit and miss, sometimes lacking a final ball and that will be something he looks to work on as he moves forward. He will be taking over the more defensive right-sided full-back role in Repin's 4-3-3/3-1-3-3 hybrid, with Vukovic allowed to attack from the left side this should suit Patrik's skillset a little better.

DL: Damir Milcic, 25, Tekstil Ibon [MYT]
11 caps, 0 goals
Milcic is fundamentally sound defensively, something which can be taken for a given with any player produced by the reputable Tekstil Ibon youth system. He won't let the team down with his defensive attributes boasting strong tackling, heading, marking and positioning. If he comes into the starting line-up it may spark a change of formation given Srdan Vukovic's ability going forwards from left-back, with Milcic probably better suited to being in the back three of Repin's 3-1-3-3 in possession. This could see Patrik Odonelec playing the Vukovic role from right-back or a tactical change to a different approach. Having said that Milcic did show improvement in the offensive side of his game during World Cup qualifying, occasionally providing width out on the left to demonstrate a degree of tactical flexibility.

DC: Dino Racic, 25, 1923 Esca [MYT]
9 caps, 1 goal
If there's one position which Mytanija are blessed with a lot of talented young players coming through at the moment it is centre-half and Dino Racic is another who could follow a similar trajectory to that which Grigorij Savicevic has been on over the past few years. Racic is at a less fashionable club than Savicevic (either at Atletik or Izotz Zubia), but 1923 Esca are trying to build around the 25 year old. Racic had a spell in Siovanija and Teusland at a young age and it has seemingly done him no harm, his reading of the game is well developed beyond his years and he could be the one to follow in Mojmir Anac's footsteps long-term alongside Savicevic (although there is tough competition).

DC: Kamil Jernejec, 30, Chromatik [CMT]
39 caps, 0 goals
Jernejec was a national team starter for a time under Repin's management but Savicevic has gradually overtaken him in the pecking order. He joined Chromatik from Olympic Thessia in order to challenge himself in a foreign country as he enters the peak years of his career, it's believed he also hopes it will help him regain a national team starting place. Jernejec isn't the quickest but he's good in the air and boasts solid mental attributes as well as decent distribution. He can drop a long pass over the top for a forward to run onto or play a ball through a press to bring his team up the pitch and this could be useful in games against more defensive opposition (that are prepared to sit deep and only press the player on the ball) or those that operate a high press to try and win the ball in the Mytanar half.

DR/DMC/MC: Gavril Toshev, 28, FK Arsika [MYT]
8 caps, 2 goals
Uncapped as late as the age of 26 Gavril Toshev has been something of a late bloomer. He spent his formative years competing in the Druga Liga with FK Arsika - his hometown club - but he was a part of the team which got promoted to the Top League with them and he has impressed many with his strong performances as well as his versatility. He's FK Arsika captain now and this call-up to the national pool for World Cup qualifying is the crowning moment of a career which has built-up continuously. He should be a perfect candidate to play as an inverted full-back in Repin's system whenever Srdan Vukovic isn't in the team, perhaps coming into defensive midfield positions alongside Alen Hrdaljko whilst Jasno Odonelec roams forward. Toshev has played regularly in midfield for his club side and will be able to fulfil the tactical requirements of that role well given his experience.

MC: Alen Hrdaljko, 27, CDSA [MYT]
54 caps, 6 goals
A central midfielder who has grown in stature over the past few years - we should note figuratively rather than literally, he's still only a dimunitive 170cm - he's toned down his outspoken side whilst retaining the tough-tackling, all-action side to his game. He was talked up as the future of the national team's midfield and now he is very much the present, there's a reason why he captained his boyhood club, the national under-21 squad and the senior national side by the age of 22 and the trust Repin has in him is immense. A terrier of a player on the pitch he is crucial in the team winning the ball back from the opponent quickly and has mastered the art of tactical fouls if it isn't possible to do so fairly. Also an excellent passer of the ball, off both his left and right foot and a useful set-piece taker. He's also CDSA's designated penalty taker, something which is especially useful to have in knock-out football.

MC: Tahir Fejzuli, 32, Mâ Âlâmëómë [FFD]
90 caps, 10 goals
The itinerant playmaker is still the best creative midfielder Mytanija has, now playing in Farfadillis for the diacritic-soup giants Mâ Âlâmëómë where he started well. He is excellent in possession, both when passing and dribbling. He can beat a defender with a fine piece of footwork and then play a killer pass to split a defence straight after. He's also a great threat from set pieces, both when shooting and crossing. His top-class vision makes him really difficult to defend against as he may not even be looking where he is going to put the ball and he often seems a step ahead of everyone else on the pitch. He's not great out of possession and intelligent opponents may target him as a weak link defensively. Has previously scored the winning goal in a UICA Champions' Cup final for Nepharim side Sabrefell Moths.

AML/R: Brajko Gavrilovic, 29, 1896 Ebor [MYT]
49 caps, 9 goals
A tall, pacy winger who opponents will find difficult to deal with due to his unusual combination of attributes. Gavrilovic is a good crosser of the ball and quick, whilst also being a threat aerially, look for diagonal balls to him against smaller full-backs to be utilised when the 1896 Ebor man is on the pitch. He wasn't noted for his finishing when he was younger but he has been improving, his aerial ability particularly helping him out in that regard. He has a great relationship with Srdan Vukovic on the field, both being 1896 Ebor players and knowing each other's game inside-out. He's a tactically intelligent player and Repin values that enormously, along with his versatility in being able to play on either wing. Repin has decided to start Gavrilovic in the hybrid 4-3-3/3-1-3-3 system due to his physical capabilities compared to other players, with his speed making him a constant threat in behind opposition defences and his aforementioned height giving them issues from crosses and set-plays.

MC/AMC: Jasno Odonelec, 29, Atletik Thessia [MYT]
85 caps, 32 goals
The national team captain and designated penalty taker, Jasno Odonelec is a leader on the pitch and a really decisive performer. Odonelec is a player who had played in three different countries by the age of 25 and is a revered competitor in all three, having turned out for his local team in Clichy-sous-Bois, Prahecq (he was born there to Mytanar immigrants); before moving to 1912 Stelburg in Siovanija and Teusland; before finally moving to boyhood club Atletik Thessia following a one-year move back to Prahecq. Odonelec was a crucial cog in Atletik's title-winning machine last season, finishing 3rd in the running for player of the season as a result. Odonelec boasts a fierce shot, quick feet, solid aerial ability and he also isn't afraid of a physical confrontation. He earned the nickname «le fantôme» in Prahecq for his ability to find space and not be noticed by opposition defenders. He's an icon in the multicultural banlieue Clichy-sous-Bois after growing up there and playing for the club, taking them to UICA competitions and Coupe Prahecqoise glory in his time there. His captaincy was called into question at times during World Cup qualifying, but the manager and team rallied behind him in a huge display of faith and he retains his status for the Cup of Harmony.

AMR/L: Kemal Gajic, 24, FK Arsika [MYT]
25 caps, 7 goals
A true speedster down the right flank, Gajic has had a career which has seen him ply his trade for three different clubs by the age of 22 as he came through at Arka before a short spell at Farrenton Athletic in Eura. He then returned to Arka and following Arka's poor season last time out moneybags FK Arsika have splashed the cash to take him to Nasto. He was seen as an inconsistent young winger until his excellent performances during the past two World Cup qualification campaigns where has become a useful goalscorer off the wing. He has added clinical finishing to his game and his speed will worry any defender - it is the hardest thing to defend against after all - and Gajic has plenty of time to deliver on his obvious potential.

DMC: Branko Brkljacic, 32, Atletik Thessia [MYT]
59 caps, 0 goals
The defensive option who will be called upon if the team requires a switch to a more considered approach. Brkljacic is a solid ball-playing defensive midfielder, he has well-rounded technical ability, with a good eye for a pass being something he utilises regularly as he sprays passes all over the pitch from his deep-lying midfield position. He also does the dirty side of the game effectively, able to win possession back through a combination of strength and dogged determination. He's a tough tackler and not averse to leaving one in on an opponent or tactically fouling if he feels it necessary. Plenty of experience to call upon, Brkljacic will be especially useful if Mytanija need to close out tight games. Won the league with Atletik this season.

MC: Vilim Kupresak, 29, Olympic Thessia [MYT]
43 caps, 5 goals
Kupresak was seen as one of Mytanija's great young hopes, a veteran of the Di Bradini Cup side that won the tournament and was touted as a potential 'golden generation' for the country. He's begun to repay that faith with exceptional performances as a part of Olympic Thessia's title-winning squad during the 27/28 season, although it hasn't ever really translated to international level as yet. He's a lot like Fejzuli, but with a little bit more pace and more conviction when finishing and a little less technical ability on the ball. He's also someone who motivates those around him, never afraid to shout at his team mates and give them instructions. Kupresak fell out with Lev Repin at the start of World Cup qualifying, after Mytanija's disappointing draw with Deniria on the opening day, as Kupresak's comments to the media stung the manager. Since then the two have mended their relationship and Kupresak was key to some good form towards the end of qualification as he captained inexperienced teams to wins in the absence of some of the big name players.

MC: Sefir Ajanovic, 25, FK Arsika [MYT]
20 caps, 4 goals
Ajanovic has grown into a really tidy footballer, he still needs to work on the defensive side of his game a little but in possession he will take the ball and move it on and help to recycle possession all game long. There are shades of Alen Hrdaljko's game in the way Ajanovic plays, with really precise passing and quick feet, he's beginning to add more to his game in the way of an end product too as he pops up with more goals. He's becoming slightly more combative in the Hrdaljko mould and if he can continue down that route he may be a true all-rounder in the centre of the park. He works well in a midfield three as his defensive shortcomings can be mitigated, with licence to be creative going the other way. Ajanovic is a member of the Mytanar diaspora in Prahecq, coming through the ranks at Stade Yvelines but Lev Repin moved quickly to ensure Ajanovic was capped for Mytanija to lock him in to represent the Hoops. FK Arsika spent big in the summer ahead of the 29/30 season to bring Ajanovic to Mytanija from Stade Yvelines.

AML/R: Itzhar Yvjoev, 25, Olympic Thessia [MYT]
9 caps, 0 goals
The final member of the Prahecq-born trio of players in the national team for the Cup of Harmony, Yvjoev came through the ranks at Champex du Lac and has impressed over the years with his dynamic performances off the flanks. He has tricky feet and relishes the challenge of beating an opponent with a piece of skill. Yvjoev has often been derided for his lack of physical strength and diminutive stature but he has often made up for this with a good sense of balance and dribbling ability. Endeared himself to Lev Repin over the course of the World Cup qualifying campaign due to his versatility and proficiency in being able to play off either wing.

ST: Jezdimir Ocokoljic, 29, Energija Chernovets [STL]
91 caps, 48 goals
Ocokoljic has had a pretty unbelievable career and he's still only 29. He's a hero in Tsrvena after taking his boyhood team Crvena Zvezda to two league and cup doubles; he then moved to Nephara and became a club icon with Newrook City before joining Mytanija's biggest club in the form of Atletik Thessia, making an instant impact on the team in sky blue, helping them on their way to the league title with 25 goals in 29 games on his way to Golden Boot and the Player of the Season award for good measure. He's now moved on to Energija Chernovets in Siovanija and Teusland and he'll hope to continue in the same vein there. His strike rate for the national team is at a clip not seen since Kristian Haugen played for the Hoops, a fact which identifies Ocokoljic as the country's top marksman and means he's a danger for all opposition defences. A good dribbler, he'll embarrass any opponents that look to give him particularly rough treatment with his quick feet and trickery. His finishing is pinpoint precise too and he's decent from free kicks for this reason as well. He's extremely adept at finding space, his off-the-ball movement makes him a nightmare to defend against. Ocokoljic has taken on an increased level of tactical importance with the national team in recent years with Repin's desire to play using a false nine and Ocokoljic will continue in that role in the hybrid 4-3-3/3-1-3-3 the coach has now settled on. His 6 goals in 9 qualifiers demonstrated that he is as dangerous as ever in front of goal for Mytanija.

ST: Zlatan Andrijasevic, 27, Atletik Thessia [MYT]
30 caps, 14 goals
A relatively impressive goalscoring record with the national team for Zlatan Andrijasevic, he may not get all that many chances to score but when he does he invariably puts the ball in the net. A valuable skill as a striker. Andrijasevic is a towering (196cm) centre forward who can more or less do everything, but who is best known for his hold-up play and ability to bring others into the game. He's good in the air, has excellent composure and finishing and his movement can make him a menace for defenders. He's not too shabby with the ball at his feet, with some centre-halves being surprised how quickly he can move the ball when dribbling. He's also not frightened of moments of ingenuity either, something which is invaluable in top-level football and he's scored several improvised and acrobatic goals for club and country.

ST: Anton Derajevic, 34, Nyva Zvornik [MYT]
17 caps, 8 goals
Derajevic has enjoyed something of a renaissance over the latter end of his career, with a call-up to the national team for the most recent Copa Rushmori following some fine goalscoring form for his club side. Derajevic led Nyva to the National Cup in the 27/28 season and last year finished second in both the Golden Boot and Player of the Season award as he scored 20 goals in 28 games to fire Nyva to 6th place. Derajevic was once a problem for managers, prone to temper tantrums and getting himself involved in all manner of off-field issues. He has matured well and has seemingly put those problems behind him and given his form Repin couldn't ignore him for the Copa Rushmori. He could suit the way Repin's national team play too, liking to drift from the central striker position to create himself space. He has 110 in 238 games in the Top League for 1923 Esca and Nyva Zvornik and whilst he may have thought his national team career was over he gets another chance here, he'll want to take it.

Mytanija employ a wide-range of formations dependent on different situations within each game, players are taught different tactical ideas from an early age in Mytanar academies and it leads to flexible players who can slot into a wide-range of systems fairly comfortably. During this World Cup qualification cycle Mytanija's default formation will be the 4-3-3/3-1-3-3 hybrid used to good effect during World Cup qualifying, but they may switch to a 4-6-0, 4-2-3-1, a 4-3-1-2 or 5-3-2 dependent on the opposition and the game state. I shall try to detail here the different scenarios which will lead to a change of formation. Please don't hesitate to either TG me on here or direct message me on the NS Sports Discord if you have any questions about Mytanija's tactics, whether it be the underlying principles/theory for each one; personnel for different formations; or if you just want to shoot the breeze about different tactical ideas.
Image

The 4-3-3/3-1-3-3 hybrid is split into defensive shape (4-3-3) and attacking shape (3-1-3-3), this obviously depends on whether Mytanija has possession of the ball or not. Out of possession, the team will retreat into a fairly standard 4-3-3 formation. The back four will defend across the width of their penalty area, any deviance from that distance will result in Mojmir Anac berating whoever it is that has moved out of that line. Defensively the team will try to keep the distance between each player as consistent as possible so that no one player has to defend large spaces by themselves. In front of the back four will be Alen Hrdaljko and Tahir Fejzuli, they will be directly in front of Mytanija's pair of central defenders and mostly look to prevent through balls into the space in front of the central defenders and engage any players who look to dribble into the space that they are occupying. Against some teams they may press the opposition, but if this happens only one will do so at any one time. The majority of the pressing is left to Jasno Odonelec who will cover the space in front of Hrdaljko and Fejzuli; as well as Jezdimir Ocokoljic who will take on the brunt of this. The team's wingers will mostly track the opposition's full-backs, but if the opposition don't tend to use their full-backs as attacking options then Mytanija's wingers will press and tuck-in (ie. one winger will press when possession is on his side of the pitch; the other will tuck-in on the opposite side to allow the Mytanar midfield to shift across the pitch to focus the defensive effort on the side of the pitch that the ball is on).

When Mytanija regain possession, the formation will change from the defensive shape of the 4-3-3 into the attacking shape of the 3-1-3-3. This will generally mean Grigorij Savicevic shifting across to the left slightly from his left-sided centre-back position, with Mojmir Anac occupying a position in the centre of a back three with Patrik Odonelec coming inside slightly from right-back. This back three will usually play quite high up the pitch to try and catch the opponent's forwards offside, relying particularly on Anac's pace to recover if the opposition succeed in breaking the offside trap. Ahead of them Alen Hrdaljko will act as a defensive shield slash midfield conductor, he'll mostly recycle possession but if Mytanija lose the ball he'll be there to (hopefully) put out any fires before they reach the defensive trio - who in turn are there as a three to add that little extra layer of protection than just your usual two central defenders. This extra layer of protection is necessary because nominal left-back Srdan Vukovic has been given a roving brief as something of a number 8/10 on the left of three central-attacking midfielders, with Jasno Odonelec in the centre and Fejzuli on the right of this three. They will largely be looking to operate in the gaps between the opposition's midfielders and also between their midfielders and defenders. This formation is about trying to overload certain areas of the pitch when Mytanija have the ball and Vukovic's presence in attacking midfield areas is demonstrative of this. The team's wingers will stay wide to try and keep the opposition full-backs wide, leaving space in between the full-backs and centre-backs for the likes of Vukovic, Odonelec, Fejzuli and Ocokoljic to exploit. Similarly Ocokoljic will operate as a false nine and regularly drop deep to try and drag the opponent's centre-backs out of position, with the space they vacate when following Ocokoljic hopefully being exploited by the wingers and Odonelec. On the right is a rough example of how this formation will appear when Mytanija are in possession.

If you have any questions or queries regarding Mytanija's tactics or in-game substitutions because you want to include information about them in an RP, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will endeavour to respond to clear them up.

TEAM ROLES
Captaincy: Jasno Odonelec is the national team captain. The vice-captain is Mojmir Anac and in the absence of both Jasno Odonelec and Mojmir Anac the armband would be passed onto Pedja Kasun or Alen Hrdaljko.
Penalties: Odonelec is now the team's first-choice penalty taker, after than the responsibility would fall to Ocokoljic. In a penalty shoot-out the order would be something like: Odonelec, Ocokoljic, Hrdaljko, Fejzuli, Anac; then the likes of Andrijasevic, Derajevic, Gajic, Vukovic, Brkljacic would come after or replace those they are substituted for if they are on the pitch.
Corners: Essentially anyone I've noted as a good passer or crosser of the ball: Fejzuli, Gajic, Odonelec (who will begrudge taking them due to him being a reasonable aerial threat), Vukovic etc.
Short free kicks: Ocokoljic or Fejzuli, basically. Ocokoljic is more likely to take them from the left as he's right-footed and Fejzuli more likely from the right as he's left-footed. Odonelec would be next choice and Branko Brkljacic would offer a different method of taking it which mainly involves just hitting the ball as hard as he possibly can. If none of those are on the pitch, the likes of Gajic or Vukovic are options. Failing that pick someone at random.
Long free kicks: Usually whoever's playing at left-back or right-back will take our long free kicks and try and punt it into the box and take advantage of having quite a tall team.

NOTES:
• Lev Repin (aged 53), is the Mytanar national team manager and has been in the role for one World Cup cycle and a Copa Rushmori. Repin is a Mytanar footballing legend and played for the national side 177 times, scoring 14 goals from full back, winning Copa Rushmori XVII and Cup of Harmony 56 and 59 along the way. He managed the under-21 squad at the Di Bradini Cup and took them to a runners-up finish. Repin is known as a bit of a schemer tactically and this was evidenced during qualification for World Cup 82; he also led the team to a 3rd placed finish at the 32nd Copa Rushmori in Qusmo and a 4th placed finish at the 36th Copa Rushmori held in Græntfjall and Tikariot. In qualifying for World Cup 87 he led Mytanija to an unexpected 4th place, only narrowly missing out on qualification despite being unranked heading into the cycle. World Cup 88 qualifying was similar, with Mytanija finishing 4th once again, but expecting an improved showing in the Cup of Harmony.

• Mytanija has qualified to 11 World Cups, reaching the quarter finals in World Cup 68. Mytanija has won the Copa Rushmori once (XVII), to go with two victories in the Cup of Harmony (56 and 59); and a Di Bradini Cup win (DBC40). Some of these achievements were made under the names Mytannion/the Mytanar Region, Mytanija is ICly the exact same place.

• Mytanars are renowned for being passionate and therefore will not be afraid of confrontation if they feel they're on the end of a particularly rough tackle. At the same time Mytanars are not afraid of gamesmanship and may perform some questionable tackles of their own, along with tactical fouls to prevent the opponent from gaining momentum. Furthermore, diving, crowding referees and even intentional handballs (OOC: so Maradona's Hand of God and Suarez for Uruguay versus Ghana, that sort of stuff), to influence the game are not beyond Mytanar players. They will argue that winning is the most important thing and will do anything they can to achieve victory. Some might call it dirty, Mytanars don't, that won't stop them complaining when things go against them naturally.

• Mytanar fans are well-known for being hooligans, causing problems wherever they go and being prone to violence. They also make outstanding choreographies for their domestic sides and occasionally the national team (if they aren't fighting each other), so pyrotechnics, flags and lots of noise and alcohol are common place. Corteos (organised marches from a specific place to the stadium), are also common, these can lead to areas being shutdown as the sheer numbers of fans walking along roads block traffic and can lead to issues as police attempt to marshal supporters too. Given the ongoing political situation in Mytanija, whether ultra groups are able to put aside differences regarding politics, ethnicity etc for the national side is a pertinent question and the answer to it may change even from game to game.

The Imperium of Squornshelous is a proud and ancient nation, extant for an indeterminate number of years, early records being largely lost to the mists of time. It made its debut in World Cup 5, and continued to participate in every edition from that time until World Cup 41. In the wake of that tournament, anti-government demonstrations spiraled out of control into a civil war which resulted in the country being split in half. The Eastern half remained under the Imperium, while the Western half reorganized itself as the Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States. At present, the Imperium exists at a cyberpunk tech level in a pocket dimension consisting solely of itself. It is not wholly unlike the Dreamed Realm, except for the part where it is wholly unlike the Dreamed Realm. More of a nightmare, really. A history of inexplicable temporal and spatial phenomena suggests that this may not be a permanent situation. At present, the Imperium has had great difficulty coaxing its technology into functionality when beyond the bounds of this pocket dimension. As a result, the national team was initially assembled from members of a fringe group within Imperial society. This Luddite religious sect consider cybernetic implants to be anathema, and as a result, suffer no ill effects from the abrupt cessation of function of such implants when leaving the country. While certainly not up to the standards of old, this hastily assembled team during World Cup 84 qualifying and at the ensuing Cup of Harmony were respectable enough that the team was brought back intact for the following cycle with one notable exception. Striker Lyyti Vang, who led the team in goals during qualifying, vanished following the team's final match at the Cup of Harmony. No information on her current whereabouts has been made public in the Imperium, though some media outlets introduced the notion that she was abducted by a terrorist organization. (ooc:those in the wider multiverse may be aware that she fled the country and was granted asylum in the Squornshelan Remnant States, where she is now playing club football for Sporting Jaglan)
Since the conclusion of Cycle 86, continuing work by Imperial neurosurgeons and cyberneticists has still yet to yield the secret which will allow Squornshelan tech to function outside the Imperium. They have, however, developed therapies to lessen the withdrawal affects on those who employ such implants, opening the door to the possibility that implanted players might realistically be able to participate. This would present an obvious advantage for the Imperium at home matches, and the legality of such under the WCC is uncertain at best. The Ministry of Sport has announced a return to the more select, smaller roster for qualifying, citing the necessity of team chemistry. Some have speculated, though that after the events of IAC 12, the Ministry has more thoroughly vetted the political leanings of the roster to avoid another embarrassment.

Two years have passed since the event that has become known to some as Liberation Day. Regarded by many as a mere nuisance which did little more than organize occasional protests, the left wing, antiauthoritarian group known as the Alliance for a New Confederacy (NewCon for short) launched coordinated raids on covert detention centers across the nation. Thousands of political prisoners and captured NewCon operatives were freed. This action coincided with a message to the nation using the government's own emergency broadcast system. The message was brief, just a couple minutes, and nearly completed its second repetition before being cut off. In short, it called for Squornshelan citizens everywhere to lift their eyes up from their daily grind, to witness what they country truly was, and to join NewCon in doing something about it.

Simultaneously, major changes within the government were taking place. High Minister Oleg Fedotenko was deposed, tried for crimes against the Imperium and executed. The Emperor, Girma Zeta, abdicated his position, and in a surprising move, named former Minister of Sport Sweyn Petrov as his successor. Petrov quickly appointed Bjarni Riihijarvi as High Minister. The government has attempted to downplay the suddenness of this transition of power, and vociferously denies any allegations of a coup. Petrov, a much more visible presence as Emperor than his predecessor, has emphasized that he wishes nothing more than for life to continue as normal. Since that time, NewCon strikes both physical and electronic on military and law enforcement installations, infrastructure, and government offices have become commonplace. Thousands and thousands of citizens have been detained, but nothing the government does seems to stop the onslaught. During qualifying, the long guerrilla conflict abruptly flared up. NewCon and factions within the military allied with them have seized control of the capital, Vogsphere, as well as the largest port and naval base, Santraginus. The Emperor and High Minister have been captured, the Minister of Defense is dead, and the loyalist government is being led by Foreign Minister Feliks Yakovlev. The rebels have called upon the Confederacy of Squornshelan Remnant States for assistance, and look to have all the momentum. The Imperial government is in very real danger of collapse unless something drastic happens soon.

Meanwhile, the national team was forced to play it's last three home matches at a neutral site in Tubmra, and stumbled to a third-place finish. They will be heading from there directly to a home base in one of the host countries without returning to the Imperium.

The Bollonischian National Football Team

The Bollonischian Football Federation

The Bollonischian National Football Team represents the nation of Bollonich at international footballing events such as the World Cup, Cup of Harmony and Copa Rushmori. The Bollonischian National Team made their official debut at World Cup Qualifying 88 against Al Qurija. The National Team had a very successful campaign in WCQ 88 finishing 5th in Group 6 ahead of teams like Sannyamathland, Rangers FC and North Japan. We also defeated the pot 1 seed in our group, Zwangzug 1-0 away and held them to a 0-0 draw at home. Following what was a more than successful campaign we were invited to the 80th edition of the Cup of Harmony also known as the Even Frostier Cup being held in Græntfjall and Krytenia. The BFF were determined not to let this opportunist slip out of their fingers and hence shall be participating in the The Even Frostier Cup with the same roster as our WCQ campaign.

The Starting 11 (4-2-3-1)

#1 Sirigu (GK) - Sirigu, Gildiric’s first choice keeper is a young and talented keeper who plays for Vreton United in the TPL. His performance is the WCQ was encouraging as he bagged 5 clean sheets. He will also star in Bollonich’s Cup of Harmony campaign as we attempt to reach the latter stages of the tournament in our first time.

#4 Sylvester Lindsey (RB) - Lindsey forms an integral part of Bollonich’s defence and performs a huge role of a full back in Gildiric’s tactical plan. His season with Vreton City has been more than successful. He also bagged an assist in the WCQ.

#2 Gerard Ingit (CB) © - Ingit forms the backbone of the defence and has served as immense role in his centerback partnership with Ploy. As Gerard enters the final years of his career he would like to compete at the highest level and give Bollonich all he has. He is also the captain and leader of the team who also inspires them.

#3 Jeremy Ploy (CB) - The 27 year old centerback who is entering the prime of his career is doing so in a time where Bollonich is at an all time high of it’s footballing prowess. Competing in invitational trophies such as the Cup of Harmony stands in a high regard in the eyes of the Multiverse’s footballing giants.

#18 Bobby Burns (LB) - Bobby is a young and rising left back who’s skill in both attacking and defending greatly impresses Gildiric which has made him first choice. His exploits with SC Lagos were also highly commendable. He also nicked an assist in qualifying along with 5 clean sheets.

#5 Gerald Swanson (CDM) - Swanson, the 31 year old midfielder plays for SC Lagos, and his role in the tactical set up by Gildiric is immense and functions as a holding defender in what is a quite advanced midfield.

#6 Miles Hum (CDM) - Partnering Swanson in midfield is Miles Hum who is both energetic and skilled. His energetic nature is the reason he plays in an advanced position then Swanson linking the forwards to the defence and midfield.

#10 Bryant Marshall (CAM) - Marshall is the typical number 10, playing slightly behind Perry however in front of the midfield. He forms a crucial part of Gildiric’s 4-2-3-1 set up which wouldn’t function without him and he is also the player with the most goal involvements (13 - 6 goals and 7 assists).

#14 Buck Moreno (RW) - Buck Moreno is a relatively new player to the Bollonischian National Team, who became a starter during the course of the WCQ due to his tremendous performances. Moreno also scored 5 goals and 2 assists in his exploits at the WCQ.

#7 Stuart Schmit (LW) - Schmit is a young and talented winger who forms a brilliant partnership with Buck Moreno his partner on the wings. Their exploits with Vreton City FC as well as his 3 gaols and 7 assists in his short career reflect his talents in not only scoring but also assisting goals.

#9 Dennis Perry (CF) - Perry is the 29 year old striker from Fermont United was the most important player in Bollonich’s WCQ campaign where we finished 5th. He is what we call a modern day poacher who racks up goals as he likes, this can be seen in his 12 goals scored in the WCQ 88.

Licentian National Football Team

Given the period of isolation that the Licentian Isles have gone through, nobody expected the relative success that the Cyan-and-Gold have achieved since their return to international football. The success of a quarter final run at the Campionato Esportiva in Hannasea was followed, somewhat unbelievably, by this unranked nation finishing 4th in their group in qualifying for the World Cup. That leaves many fans on the Isles quietly hopeful of what the players, led by Fabrizio Kaal, might achieve at the Cup of Harmony in Græntfjall and Krytenia.

Head Coach - Fabrizio Kaal
At first, people questioned the decision of the FALI to hire the title winning manager of Montfort Wanderers only one year into his term at the club. Nobody is questioning Fabrizio Kaal anymore. His change of style seems to have only benefitted a Licentian squad that relied on strong defence, both in Hannasea and in World Cup qualifiers. Many people are wondering if Kaal will leave the Cyan-and-Gold as quickly as he left the Wanderers: currently, they’re just grateful to have him.

Formation - 4-5-1 (Skill Modifier: -2):
Kaal has dropped his style when managing Montfort Wanderers for a more traditional Licentian style; a 5 man midfield with a playmaking holding midfielder, pacey wingers and a lone striker with the ability to hold up the ball and prowess in the air. The wingers will often drop back alongside the central midfielders, especially in defence, occasionally encouraging overlaps from the full backs, and set pieces will be an important part of the game plan. It is hoped that this slightly defensive style will lead the Licentians further than an all-out attack against more experienced teams, as it has up to now under Kaal’s leadership.

Squad:

Goalkeepers:

Caitlin Fraser - 32 years - Glenmount Town – VICE-CAPTAIN
Sam Heijnis - 28 years - St Thomas
Leland Wood - 24 years - Montfort Wanderers

Caitlin Fraser will continue between the sticks for the Cyan-and-Gold at the Cup of Harmony. Many expect that with the retirement of Tom Johnston imminent, Fraser is in line to be the first woman to captain the Cyan-and-Gold, and it isn’t really difficult to see why: she is an incredible leader at the back for club and country. Players like Sam Heijnis and Leland Wood, who had their opportunities at various points through qualifying, will just be cursing Caitlin’s dominance on the Isles as the thing blocking their own path to the number one shirt.

Full Backs:

Cam Spijker - 30 years – Mipojoseon Image
Rowan Findlay - 25 years - Montfort Wanderers

Sarah Maartens – 24 years – St Thomas

The full backs don’t see much change from the extended squad that went into qualifying, with only one player dropped. Many will assume that Cam Spijker and Rowan Findlay will be shoo-ins to start at the back for the Isles in the Cup of Harmony, but no one has made it easy for them. Sarah Maartens proved her worth throughout qualifying, and Maria Reilly only misses out by virtue of the reduced squad list for this competition.

Centre Backs:

Lucia Allen - 27 years - Abingdon Celtic
Flora Watson - 29 years - St Thomas

Harris Shaw - 22 years – Waterfleet
Toby Ferguson – 22 years – Bul Khungur Miners Image

Once again, it’s a story of the young and the experienced at centre half for the Cyan-and-Gold. Lucia Allen and Flora Watson have continued to prove their skill at the back, with both scoring goals as well as playing solidly in defence throughout qualifying. They are backed up in Græntfjall and Krytenia by two young guns hoping for more opportunities to come their way: Harris Shaw and Toby Ferguson.

Holding Midfielders:

Saul van Duuren - 22 years – Waterfleet
Alex Graham - 30 years - Montfort Wanderers

There seems to have been a changing of the guard in this vital position to Fabrizio Kaal’s system, with youth replacing experience in the most important games of qualification for the Isles. Waterfleet’s Saul van Duuren is the beneficiary of that switch, and many expect him to start at the Cup of Harmony, while Alex Graham retains his place in the squad despite seemingly falling out of favour.

Centre Midfielders:

Tom Johnston - 34 years - Stonehouse Athletic - CAPTAIN
Arlo McGregor - 23 years - Montfort Wanderers

Josh Williams - 25 years - SC Montfort
Arthur Mazereeuw – 20 years – St Thomas

In his final tournament, Tom Johnston will be hoping to continue the positive momentum that the Isles have had since their return to international football. That will certainly be helped by his partner in central midfield, Arlo McGregor, who looks more and more like a future leader with each passing match. There is controversy in the reserves here as in other positions: Thomas Hughes of Montfort Wanderers has been dropped, with set piece specialist Josh Williams and young speedster Arthur Mazereeuw preferred to him.

Wingers:

Miles Henderson - 26 years - Abingdon Celtic
Wisse Tuininga - 24 years – SW Stahlberg Image

Scarlet McKenzie - 22 years – Mountainside Image
Casey McMillan – 21 years – AFC Farnworth

Another controversial call in Fabrizio Kaal’s selection for the Cup of Harmony comes on the wings. Here, Glenmount stalwart Lyle Hughes has been dropped entirely, surprising many who expected him to retain his place even if he didn’t play particularly well in qualifying. Instead, Miles Henderson will likely be partnered on the wings by Wisse Tuininga, though Scarlet McKenzie and Casey McMillan are both expected to push the Stahlberg winger.

Centre Forwards:

Tiago Weiling - 29 years - St Thomas
Ruaridh Grant - 25 years - Gaelic Club
Anne-Linde van Oers - 21 years – Olympic Thessia Image

Perhaps unsurprisingly, even given his risky choices elsewhere, Fabrizio Kaal has returned to the three strikers selected for his squad at the Campionato. While Tiago Weiling has more commonly been selected for the big games recently, there’s no doubt that the talent behind him is strong. Ruaridh Grant has seemed intent on proving that he deserves the number 9 shirt once again, while Anne-Linde van Oers has brought more creativity than either man with her more pacey, risk-taking antics up front.

Visitors to the Licentian Isles for international matches should note that there are a growing number of football hooligans, known on the Isles as “casuals”, who are always liable to cause disruption and possibly attack fans travelling to the Licentian Isles. Travelling supporters are advised to wear team colours wherever possible (as casuals will not attack fans wearing colours without provocation), and avoid areas of the Isles populated by violent casual groups, along with trying to avoid these groups at matches. Most casual groups will be easily identifiable by banners they carry or songs they sing. Groups to avoid (with associated club and parish) include:

Jolly Roger (Garton Bay Pirates, Montfort Parish)
Capital City Squad (Montfort North End, Montfort Parish)
Real Celts (Gaelic Club, Abingdon Parish)
Colliery Casual Crew (Colesham Rovers, Colesham Parish)
Island Riot Squad (St Bart’s United, St Bart’s Parish)
Licentian Border Squad (St Thomas, St Bart’s Parish)

Nations should also note that some casual or ultra groups may travel in force with the Licentian national team for international matches outside the Isles. Not all are violent, but most will carry flares and large banners, and make use of them to build up the atmosphere during a match. If your nation bans this kind of behaviour, please make the FALI aware so that we can warn fans travelling to your nation in advance.

For any more information on Licentian casuals, please contact the FALI (OOC - discuss by TG or Discord).

Fair play and respect are important to Licentian players, and they should not be depicted as going outside the bounds of normal behaviour during a match without prior permission. I will also not tolerate the introduction of any virus or other world-changing thing to the Isles without prior permission. If you have another idea that you would like to RP I am happy to collaborate: hopefully it’s clear where to go by now.

RE: Electrum Roster [SEC=SENSITIVE]

Before the start of this roster, we would like to mention this roster is brought to you by The Turnip, where for the low price of two synergies per month, you can get delicious brain facts and the world's most boring news delivered straight to your brain cybernetic network. That's The Turnip for two synergies per month.

Now, enjoy the roster...

General Information
Dear Computator, the sentient creatures from the country of Electrum take part in a competitive endeavour called football, where the objective is to use feet (the bottom two limbs) to move the ball into the opposing team's netted zone, scoring one goal. The most goals wins the match. Electrum's performance in this tournament, can be objectively described as being "okay" with a win in the "World Cup 78" competition, and losses in all other editions. The state of football, has recently fallen by the wayside in recent years, due to the catastrophe that required your (The Computator) intervention. You may recall that you saved Electrum from a time freeze, a phenomenon where we were stuck in place while time moved inexorably forward across the rest of the multiverse. Because Electrum's players were stuck in a time freeze, their muscles have atrophied to the point of no return, so we've had to throw out the old team and start fresh with new players who didn't have a large base to begin with. We've really only kept the captain on board.

Of course you recall, with your fifth dimensional neural network, we embedded some of your interdimensional friends from other worlds, to assist the team. Unfortunately, this arrangement has not worked out for certain creatures, so we have replaced some of them with the native sentient creatures. You will be happy to note that we have continued to keep Einarsson, King of the Armoured Bears as well as Seb on the team. We have generated a new strategy utilising Seb for this Cup of Harmony. The Electrumite National Team are not expected to make great success in this competition, and this trend is expected to continue in perpetuity.

Statistical Information

Best World Cup record: Champion (WC78)
Worst World Cup record: We don't talk about that

Coaching Staff
Manager: Tyler Fernando
Assistant Manager: Jemima Bryant
Development Manage: Risa Shigaraki

A new contract is currently in effect with the procurement of services from Tyler Fernando, sentient creature. Fernando has previously, we understand, piloted the Electrumite National Team to the victory in World Cup 78. Jemima Bryant is noted for her use of technology in decision making and could prove useful in other capacities for The Computator. She has indicated that she is ready to feed real-time statistics directly into your neural network so you can better understand the data that humans generate.

The new lineup from acting Coach Bosko Nowak includes a mix of players from the qualification cycles, plus some old and new faces. As a former goal keeper, much was made of Nowak choosing Dejan Wasić over Zlatko Wukowić in the starting lineup. No comment was given by Nowak to the shift. Wlad Wlad and Kostessen take up the central defending positions, with Kostessen an option in multiple directions. Backups Jankoslawić and Krušlin play abroad, but were solid reservists in Nowak’s estimation. Defense is important to the side, as they gave up a large amount of goals in qualifying cycle while being one under twenty sides to score over fifty goals in qualifying groups. Igorić and Kewić will need to balance their attack with good man on man defense. Looking for solutions to a declining backline, Nowak picked up Ilija Illić from the Rekan leagues. FK Ofau’s captain will be getting a huge opportunity by debuting in the Cup of Harmony.

Stani Gröss, one of the class midfielders in the nation’s history, will anchor the offensively dominant Rekawić/Kolarowić pair. Backups were mostly unchanged across the midfield three. However, Nikola Branić, who as had cross words with Nowak in times past over the direction of Rekan club DD Porto Nowi, was replaced for IFCF Challenger’s Cup Quater finalist Lazar Macek-Leibberman. Leibberman turned twenty late in qualifying, and a good showing could be a wonderful if belated gift. Zup and backup forward Popowić are younger. Kolarowić is the oldest player, and the only one older than thirty.
Formation and Tactics
Image
Image
While the team is similar to what’s been active already, Nowak’s own footballing philosophy is being tested. Nowak’s playing career as a goalkeeper saw him winning domestic trophies with sides who emphasized fluidity and skill, and these same types of sides also have Nowak a hard time in the box. From the front, center, and back ranks, much is expected of the side.

Bogdan Rawić will continue to be the lynchpin on the attack, a goal scorer by heart, Rawić has slowly begun to also assist the side. Rawić’s mix of blinding speed, good touches, and growing selflessness making him a major contributor to the team. Partners, such as Arnald Gal and Jad, will look to insert both of themselves into the game as composed passers and finishers, with Gal also being capable of taking Rawić’s role at times. The trio will also try to force corners, as Jad is a specialist with that weapon. Playing as a forward for Zeta Reka will have a high physical requirement in every game. All backups will need to be on call at a moment’s notice.

The midfield trio has been stretched slightly from box to box. The shift put the holding midfielder closer to the backline, and the attacker closer to the front three. Captain Kolarowić was a solid scoring threat, and he along with Marko Zup will be expected to keep up the pace, are risks, and hit back hard if the team slip’s up. The assignment is similar for Rekawić, but with less of an emphasis on the attack and more focus on playmaking for the players in front of him. Gröss will cover the movements of the men in front of him, while also grinding the opposition to a halt, and making solid passes.

Wingbacks will provide essential support for what could be up to four players in the box at some moments. Igorić will be asked to coordinate with Rekawić, while Kewić will be a more attacking wingback who will need to control more space. The centerbacks were chosen mainly for their stopping power and ball winning, but at the same time Wlad Wlad and Kostessen have on ball skills that can be utilized in buildup. The defenders will also work together and play high.

The look and feel of the national team is unchanged since World Cup Qualification, and they even get to keep the fading socks! Tomislaw Radowić will be happy about that, if rumors are true.

Originally from Baker Park and an assistant to the national team there, she then took over at Trebuchet Cham for several seasons, leading them to the Champions' League group stage before she took this job. We have a wiki page where I am slowly migrating information about the team. (Subpage with player details)

Colors: White with black stripes. Or black with white stripes. We go for the basics.

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., an MT, mostly-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense. Also, do not cause lasting harm in my country and/or to my citizens without contacting me first.

Image

Susanna Schaefer, 21, #1, Female, Goalkeeper
Umnama'kik-Inverness 1877, QUE Image

Schaefer is known around the country to be a prodigy in the Grearish football ranks, with what they call the safest hands in the entire land. Having grown up a few miles outside Plibury, the rural background meant that she had to do a lot of the heavy lifting (literally as well) for her family, being the eldest in her generation. Her performance will be heavily scrutinised in the 88th World Cup, with her position becoming increasingly more competitive.
Joanna Rodrigues, 27, #2, Female, Left Back, (Captain)
Cranequin City, NPH Image

Some say, that being named captain of the football side has worked in the favour of Grearish skipper Rodrigues, as the 24-year-old is expected to stand stall to defend the opposition's right wing attacks and overlaps, while making sure our own left-wing is well-fed with a regular supply of deliveries from the back four. A charismatic showing of leadership and an intelligent style of gameplay, coupled with impeccable vision and a sense of innate empathy justified her being adjudged the skipper of the Grearish national team. The entire nation is now rooting behind her.
Lydia Radcliffe, 23, #3, Female, Left Centre Back
EFS, EUR Image

Lydia has taken up responsibility of the Grearish backline ver since the retirement of the evergreen Alex Allman. A cool head under pressure, Radcliffe is known to be nifty on the ball but is strictly no-nonsense when it comes to dealing with the threats from the opposition. Keen eyes will be on her display.
Mateo Elliott, 24, #4, Male, Right Centre Back
Letson Town, ETN Image

The young Mateo Elliott was known to be a bit of a wonderkid ever since he burst on to the national scene when he stood immovable in front of his goal, defending to the end. This well-built right centre back will be one to watch out for, if the pundits are to be believed!
Callum Frank, 31, #5, Male, Right Back
Kinetik Islanders, SNL Image

Jersey number 5 goes to Callum Frank, who has transitioned from a bench-warmer to a proper starter these days. There will be room for like-for-like replacement, however, and Frank will have to earn his spot on the NT every match.
Fergus Sloan, 27, #6, Male, Left Wing
Shamrock Cathair, AUD Image

Sloan is undoubtedly one of the best left wingers for the national team, this cycle, as the Shamrock Cathair star has been making waves in the Audoslavian leagues for quite some time now. He will be indispensable in the national team plans going forward.
Chance Benton, 21, #7, Male, Central Midfielder
Marketville, EUR Image

Chance Benton, named by his parents after he was born in one of the most difficult times the family had seen in terms of financial and social stability, Chance has definitely taken every chance he could get up until this point to get the coveted central midfielder position in the fairly new Grearish national team. Ball distribution being one of his key assets, will have keen eyes overlooking it, as he tries to help his comrades out to work every inch of space available in the midfield, or wherever his team needs him.
Layla-Mae Potts, 20, #8, Female, Central Midfielder
Ming, CMT Image

Adding to what some might call the youthful boiling blood of the Grearish midfield, comes Layla-Mae Potts, renowned for her pinpoint passing precision, and ability to pick up teammate runs as they occur around her every second. A timid girl when not on the field, Potts shows the greatest of transformation to convert into the fierce central midfielder that Grearia has been blessed with.
Janet Daly, 19, #9, Female, Right Winger
AFC Whittorians, EOT Image

Completing the 4-player midfield formation is another young gun out of Bradwick in the south. Janet, otherwise completing her 10th standard examinations back in school, decided to try out for the Grearish national team when news spread that the BoF was upon us and the nation needed youngblood who were hungry for victory. This tactful right winger knows most tricks of the trade to fool her opposition, but a rather short-tempered teenage mentality might prove to be her greatest foe.
Avery McAuley, 22, #10, Female, Striker, (Vice-Captain)
GFA Central Contract

Number 10 and probably one of the most sought-after players for the Grearish NT, Mc Auley is also the vice captain for the national team we take such pride in. The Black Lilies' premier striker will be on the lookout for a prolific goal-scoring season as a poacher up front, relying on her immense shooting force and gargantuan willpower.
Willis Kline, 27, #11, Male, Striker
Dalaris City, PFA Image

We round off the starting eleven with the inclusion of Kline, the deep lying forward, who prevents the supply chain from the midfielders to McAuley from getting blocked up. Kline, however, is not expected to be rigid in his role, and that the Grearish public can expect to see a flurry of goals from him as well.

Image

Summer-Rose Stuart, 27, #12, Female, Goalkeeper
Reedostown, XAN Image

The second goalkeeper of the 21-player squad is Summer-Rose Stuart, who despite being the elder of the two, finds herself on the bench. The gaffer seems to be quite firm about the first XI choices hat he makes, but one cannot rule out the possibility of a change in the guardian under the sticks once Grearia finds itself in a suitable position.
Jasmine Gardener, 28, #13, Female, Left Back
Steinaux, GRF Image

In what some pundits are claiming could be only a possibility under a major injury condition, Gardener is seen as an eclipsed player by the Grearish community, shadowed by the all-pervasive charisma of Rodrigues as the skipper. Preparing for the worst, Gardener may as well be blooming flowers of success for Grearia in times of grave crisis.
Linda Taylor, 15, #14, Female, Left Centre Back
GFA Central Contract

Being an ardent dog-lover hailing from the port city of Paethsmouth, Linda had to choose between rugby and football. We’re all blessed she chose the beautiful game, because the Black Lilies will depend on her in the near future.
Lilah Buchanan, 23, #15, Female, Right Back
GFA Central Contract

Buchanan's quick rise to the national scene was propelled by her blistering right leg, and her sturdy build, making her a fearsome barrier for most opposition wingers. The tall Grearish defender had caught the eyes of national team scouts in the wake of the announcement of the Grearish participation in the World Cup spectacle, and the performance of this young workhorse has never disappointed since.
Theia Golde, 20, #16, Female, Right Centre Back
GFA Central Contract

The 16-year-old wonder in Theia Golde sees herself on the bench accounting for her lack of domestic experience in inter-city clashes, and her injury proneness. The selection at a young age, however, shows some promising signs for the years to come!
Dionne Blackmore, 33, #17, Female, Right Wing
GFA Central Contract

The senior right winger will most likely not see action until some injury occurs, as there seems to be no valid reason to change two fact paced young guns for a player into her thirties. In the belief that she might be able to slow down the tempo of game with her intelligent passing, however, may be the deal maker if she does get a few minutes on the field.
Ruby Houghton, 24, #18, Female, Central Midfield
Burgess FC, EOT Image

Houghton is our reserve central midfielder for the cycle, with impressive performances in intra-Grearish levels. The youthful CM might as well have to see out a few matches for Grearia as the midfield job is predicted to be rather tough, and substitutions would not surprise a lot of people.
Cassandra Preston, 27, #19, Female, Left Winger
Morningstar, NPH Image

Fondly known to the public by the name of Cassandra "Pacey" Preston, the speedy left winger has a vicious left foot in her arsenal that has caught many eyes in the course of the selection process for the Grearish national team. The onus will be on her in the upcoming international season to prove her might, as she will face off against some of the best in the world in battles to assume control of the midfield.
Aaron Murphy, 23, #20, Male, Attacking Central Midfielder
Ratzupalfu Rhinos, SNL Image

The 20-year-old number 20 of the Grearish NT, Aaron Murphy is one-of-a-kind. With no other ACMs in the team and the gaffer preferring a rather traditional 4-4-2 approach, Murphy finds himself on the bench. However, if pundits are to be believed, a Murphy substitution in a game could turn it on its head and will thus be a key player for the side, tactically.
Gia Knott, 27, #21, Female, Striker
GFA Central Contract

Another prolific striker in the Grearish ranks, Knott is seen as an out-and-out striker, who is believed to be a perfect replacement for Kline who likes to play in a slightly withdrawn role, in case the gaffer wants to go on the attack mode with the pedal to the metal.

The 4-4-2 is the most widely used formation in the highly nationalised Grearish academy structure for football, where most players grow up playing the 4-4-2, hardly wavering to any other formation.

The Manager

George Murphy is the Manager of Murphtannia, he is also the manager of Domestic Giants Villa.

Murphy's History

Murphy has been manager of Villa for 2 seasons. In that time he has won the Murphtannian Premier League x2, 1 Murphtannian FA cup, 2 Murphtannian League Cups and 1 super cup.

tactics

Murphy prides himself on his fast paced attacking style of football, he uses a 4-4-2 diamond narrow with a very attacking sense (+3).

2 wings backs are employed to bomb up and down the field to provide width in the attack and will seek to cross the ball into the box.

A Defensive Midfielder sits in front of 2 centre backs, with 1 centre back covering for the other.

In-front of the DM is a box to box midfielder and a deep-lying play maker. While the BTB gets the ball and carries it up field the DLPM will get the ball and seek to pass it to a wing back bombing on or the BTB.

Finally there is a front 3 of 1 Attacking Midfielder and 2 strikers. The CAM will get the ball and seek to pass a through ball to the Advanced forward making runs behind the defence or to the Target Man who will hold up the ball, trying to make space for a pass or shot. If the CAM can't find a pass he will use his advanced footwork to move into space and pick out a pass.

The defence will normally try and pass out of the back and employ tiki taka, keeping possession and exploting passes to make space and move forward.

The Team

The Starting 11

Goalkeeper - Adam Ball- 26- 6ft5- Played for The Wolves Club and recently moved to West Rowling Albion. Recently won the Golden Glove award in the Murphtannian Premier League for keeping 20 clean sheets. Prefers to catch the ball rather than punch and tends to come off his line. Good shot stopping and reflexes, struggles when assembling his wall. World Class keeper.

Left-Wing back- James Cartlidge -24 -5ft7 - Urbizania Wanderers wing back, renowned for his pace and stamina he can easily pick up the ball and run to the other end of the field, better at attacking than defending. In his first season he got 15 assists as Villa won the title, he helped Villa win a second title and League cup befopre earning a move to ASG club Urbizania Wanderers . Excellent crosser of the ball, has work to do on slide tackles.

Ball playing Centre back - cover - Shaun Banks - 27 - 6ft - This Liverpool Town CB singed from Villa and he kept 13 clean sheets and was able to get across the back line to make that vital tackle. Good heading and Jumping ability make him ideal for covering his CB partner, excellent tackling and speed. Can also play LB or RB.

Ball Playing Centre back - Callum Pallet- 6ft 5- 21 - Widely regarded as a brick wall, his strength and tackling ability make him hard to play against. He will use his speed and ability to be in the right place at the right time to make blocks or inch perfect tackles, the villa centre back kept a clean sheet on 15 occasions and is widely regarded as the best CB in Murphtannia. He is good friends with Shaun Banks and George Murphy, both the Manager and Striker. He has a very good passing ability and ability to hoof the ball up the pitch. Can also play at Left Back and is a decent Goalkeeper when needed.

Right Wing Back - Jack Bridge - 5ft4 - 24 - This Villa right back, like his friend and partner Cartlidge, is renowned for his pace, crossing and slide tackles. On many occasions this season Jack has run up the pitch to whip in a ball, and managed to sprint back and get an inch perfect slide tackle to win back the ball. While he is also a more attacking player he is more balanced than his partner, getting less assist but better defensive stats. Moved to Tikariot, however after a poor season was relegated, and it remains to be seen if they can retain their NT team place this WC, or with Hayes performing badly as well, if a new player can rise to the occasion A poor header of the ball, Jack prefers to deliver crosses rather than be on the receiving end of them.

Defensive Midfielder - Jacob Marley - 28 - 5ft8 - Vice Captain - The experienced and cool head in front of the defence, Jacob has been a AFC Walsall United player for 2 seasons. He is excellent at organising the defence and is the 1st line of defence. Jacob's short and long passing ability means he can easily get the ball and distribute it to the midfield.

Bob to Box Midfielder - Conner Owen - 22 - 5ft5 - Conner is one of Villa's star players, having scored 6 goals and gotten 15 assist's. Short, Pacy and never tiring, Conner could cover every blade of grass without getting tired. With Great ball control, pace, stamina and passing ability Conner can easily get the ball and carry it up field to the CAM or Target Man. He is quite strong making it harder to wrestle the ball of him and has excellent heading ability and jumping despite his small stature. Although only 21, Conner has already won the Murphtannian Ballon Dor and the Murphtannian Premier League twice.

Deep lying Play maker - George Jenkins - 21 - 6ft7- A very tall and strong midfielder Jenkins is an intimidating presence on the field, strong tackling and pace makes him ideal for a deep lying play maker roll, he will frequently try and pick a pass to the Box-to-Box or RWB. He can also do a job as extra defensive cover. Being tall his is very good in the air, having scored 10 headed goals in the Murphtannian Premier League, the most of any player. Heading isn't his only asset with him being the set piece specialist. He scored 10 goals from free kicks and 5/5 pens as he went on to be the joint top scorer in the league. He also got 15 assists from free kicks and corners.

Central attacking Midfielder - Jake Styler - 25 - 5ft4 - Jake isn't built physically and is quite short, however his technical ability is second only to Murph. With the most assist's for Liverpool Town, 23, it highlights Jakes excellent ability to pick a perfect pass, find space, beat the defender with excellent dribbling. While he isn't the strongest defender's struggle to keep up with Jake at the best of times, sitting just behind the 2 strikers Jake is a key part of Murphtannia's famous front 3. Styler earned a move to GRF team Molding last season

Target Man - Jake Pole - 26 - 5ft9. Jake Pole Isn't the strongest player ever but his hold up play is second to none. When receiving the ball he will use this hold up play and decent pace to keep the ball, bringing other teammates into play, scoring 14 goals this season shows Jake still has an eye for goal however his 18 assists speak louder as to the type of player he is, he is also Murphtannia's and Villas greatest header of the ball in terms of ability, having scored 5 of his goals via headers.

Advanced Forward - George Murphy (Murph to avoid confusion with the manager) - 6ft - 17 - Captain - Murphy regarded as the Greatest Murphtannian player of his generation. Despite being only being 18 Murphy is already Villa and Murphtannia captain. His age doesn't show with the leadership qualities his posses and his ability to deal with pressure well. Murph is rapid and has excellent stamina, combined with his ball control, superb finishing, decent ability to hold up the ball and ability to pick a perfect pass, it is no wonder Murphy is the top scorer in the Murphtannian Premier League, the boyhood villa fan scored 30 goals and got 10 assists, Murph is unselfish and will happily pass the ball to a teammate with a better scoring position. A decent penalty taker, Murphy prefers to be on the receiving end of set pieces rather than taking them. Many a time this season has he used his skill and ball control to beat a defence and his finishing ensures he has never missed a 1 on 1. He is by far Murphtannia's key player. Can also play LW, RW, CAM, LWB and LB.

Reserve Team

2nd choice keeper - Steven Philling - 23 - AFC Walsall United number 1, excellent at penalties, having saved 9/10 penalties he's faced this season.

3rd choice keeper - Tom Hardy - 32- Liverpool Town number 1- Experienced player.

LWB/LW- Tom Doyle - 27 - Plays for Birmingham United FC

RWB/RW - Lucas Hayes- 29 - Plays for AFC Walsall United FC

Other stadiums

The main stadiums used by the Murphtannian national team other than the Murphtannia stadium are Villa Park , where the Murphtannian FA vase, Murphtannian FA cup and League semi finals are held, and Anfield. These stadiums are stacked with History and some of the finest in Murphtannia. Finally Wembley stadium can also be used however it is mostly used by the English national team. (OOC: Most Murphtannian teams played in England until our independence and annexation of the UK. However each country still has their own FA like before.)

The Fans

The Murphtannian fans are passionate and loyal. Football is a very large part of Murphtannian culture and most games sell capacity, even in the lower depths of the football pyramid or amateur football. When Murphtannia wins anything parties can go on for days and everyone is given time off work.

Of course no football team is complete without a kit to play in. The Murphtannian Culture Minister has been hard at work creating a kit that not only makes Murphtannian players look stylish, but also have a practical use. The Minister of Defense decided to get involved, and was quoted as saying "What do you mean we can't give them invisibility suits" After many weeks of hard work the following kits have been comissioned.

Home Kit Front and Back:

While the whole thing doesn't follow the national colours of red and black, it has seen record sales across Murphtannia.

The Gk Kit for Murphtannia is where the Minister for Defense got involved, designed for the goalkeeper to be camouflaged against the pitch, of course he didn't realize goalkeepers stand up not lie down, and all this do was made him stand out.

Of course the away kit looks equally stylish, the minister of culture decided to go with a mix of gold and black, in an attempt to stand out.

Finally the GK away kit, original designs were scrapped until one day one of the assistants working for the Minister of Culture dropped a melon on the design, before cleaners could clear it up the Minister looked at it for 15 minutes and went "no no, it's perfect." which was how the Melon kit was created.

FORMATION / FORMACION
Image Image

STYLE OF PLAY / ESTILO DE JUEGO
Style Modifier: +2
Description: Alfonzo Medrano likes to play attacking football with three players up front, with tall striker Amunategui in the middle and abundance of wingers capable of playing multiple positions at their disposal. The three players upfront is mandatory in his lineups, and he prefers the 4-3-3 over the 3-4-3 formation due to lack of central defenders in his squad. He may also play 2-5-3 depending on the situation. They also employ a physical brand of football where players commit to tackles and prefer to roughen up the opposition.

The team prefer the usage of wingers to deliver the ball to the box via low to high crosses, and does not prefer to keep the ball at the middle of the park. Corners are usually delivered via crosses with the ball kicked from the corner spot.

Medrano is a calm man and is less likely to react violently to partial calls. His coaching staff however, have a quirk to start touchline brawls.

Most likely to:
Score penalties: Quevedo, Amunategui, Chia
Score a direct free kick: Chia, Quevedo, Palmero
Concede a penalty: Puma, Aranaz, Coro
Booked for short temper: Puma, Duran, Maquibar

Savojar Roster for the 80th Cup of Harmony

TEAM

STAFF
Coach: Daniella Strauss (NPH)
Age: 55 // Coach since: WCQ 88 (MD 8)
After the Copa 37 had revealed stagnation on the regional level, and Rangren had been approached by her old friend and co-coach Lise Asbeck to take the helm at the Savojar top club Libertas Bergheim, she had resigned as Northlights head coach. Being left without a national coach, the SFFB has hired former Nephara manager Daniella Strauss in a competitive bidding process, making her the first foreign Savojarna manager in history. Strauss turned a terrible Corvette side into a credible Premiership outfit for a time, and started to revitalise Southfell United before the Cormorants came calling. Unusually for Nepharim, she likes to keep ahold of the ball, but likes to play quick, aggressive football, with a high line choking the opposition. Probably the most successful Nepharan manager, by most measures; hired to the Northlights until the end of World Cup cycle 89 as part of the “WC90” project, aiming to make the World Cup knockouts by cycle 90.

Coaching Team: Alexey Jotanov, Mikael Södergren, Lasse Tjoer
Ages: 52, 39, 42 // Special functions: Video coach, Technical coach, Physical trainer
Jotanov is a rather creative tactical mind and one half of the U-21 co-coaching team. He has been brought on board as part of the WC90 project to create a more unified approach across the three Savojar national teams (adult, U21, U18). He will be here mainly to support with video trainings and tactics briefings.
Mikael Södergren has a history of a technical assistant coach at various SFS A teams, including the surprising Rotor Värstjö side of SFS Season 8 and being on the staff of the double-winning Partisan side of SFS Season 10. His job is to run day to day practice and give technical advice to players; besides his work with the national team, he currently is a trainer at the National Football Academy at Högvald, where he coaches and develops Savojarna’s biggest youth talents.
Lasse Tjoer is the physical coach and condition trainer, and has previously worked for multiple SFS A teams. He places a lot of emphasis on discipline, but gives the players a large amount of freedom to tune their practice regime to their own tastes as long as they stick to the targets. He is quite popular in the team, and a good motivator.

Goalkeeper Coach: Valtteri Andersson
Age: 51
Andersson was a long-term goalkeeper for Energie Thorsborg and got directly transferred into the club's youth department when he retired at age 33. Following some good work with the club's youth department, he got trained as a GK coach and worked with the first team and the U21 of Energie for a while before being brought onto the squad of the NT early on. He still works with Energie on the side and is reputed to be very good at developing a goalkeeper's weaknesses.

Doctor: Dr. Christer Ljungberg
Age: 57
Christer is the head of the medical team of the Savojar NT and generally has a reputation of being the team’s good soul. Many players have come to him over the years to discuss their insecurities or physical problems, to the point that many consider Ljungberg to essentially be a second mental coach.

Key players:
In goal the big name remains Iiro Pakanen, a rock between the posts with a calm demeanor and a stable, consistent style, as well as quick reflexes. He is complimented by the shorter, yet more aware and controlling Aleksandra Virulainen, the SFS’s top goalkeeper; Sergey Sharin is a third keeper who will be unlikely to see play. In defence, Polina Zirkova is the undisputed organiser of the central backs, with good skills with the ball on her feet and good eyes to spot buildup opportunities. Next to her, either one of Forsberg or Dmitriev commonly plays the role of a more responsible defenceman; the latter is also a very competent header and the talleds player of the squad with 204 cm. On the sides, Pedersen and Skov form a quick and enduring duo that runs up and down the pitch relentlessly to support the offence as well as plug holes at the back. A notable substitute at the back is Milla Viipuri, whose ability to play a more conservative, solid role on either side might make her a powerful utility choice. She is particularly good at delivering spectacular tackles and positioning herself against the opponent.

Ahead of this line, another line of four forms Savojarna’s midfield. The wings are traditionally the crown jewel of a Savojar side, but they will be looking a bit differently as Krister Voynov has not been taken along after some differences with the SFFB and some physical issues. The left side is now in the hands of either the conservative, but technically adept veteran Steinar Aarsoy, one of the SFS’s best players, or of the young prodigy Kimi Hartikainen, a physical and fast left forward who has been a part of the dangerous Torpedo Trident together with Victor Hedenberg and Ko-oren’s Anselmo Viera. On the right side, in absence of Voynov, Mikhail Jashkin is the star of this team. The two-times Champions League winner with Directus and former member of the Galacticos 23 has been a rock for Savojarna with his combination of sly through balls from the side and quick runs towards the goal. Between the two, captain Victoria Maersk continues to guide this side at the age of 35, pulling strings with her clever and calm passing and directing her allies around the pitch. Her role has grown more defensive with age, complimenting one of the duo of Poulsen and Lundell, two modern playmakers with capabilities to advance and score themselves (particularly in the case of Poulsen).

Up front, Sergey Nweke will play the role of focal striker with his physical presence and good finishing capacity, a versatile striker that can adapt to the game situation quickly and has an eye for openings. He will be supported by a hanging striker, depending on the situation either Partisan’s Sven Ehlers, a quick and mobile but rather short player who likes to lurk between the lines or fall back to the midfield to collect balls and link to a partner; or CASK’s Jekaterina Smolov, a fast and technically adept striker that likes to approach from a distance to get space for herself. Smolov is also suited to play as a focal point, although with less physical presence than Nweke.

Team Personality
The Darmeni team will never argue with the referee. Indeed, if anything needs to be brought to the attention of the referee it will be done by either the Captain or Vice-Captain in a respectful manner (or to the fourth-official by the Manager). With regards to foul/dirty play, the Darmeni team will not provoke, or retaliate against any opposition player. Darmeni's expect each team to keep to itself and deal with its own trouble makers; any opposition player who attempts to prevent a conflict by pushing or pulling a Darmeni away from the scene will be promptly told off, as that is the duty of the Darmeni Captain.

Nonetheless, Darmen will play in a relatively aggressive manner. Tackles will be conducted in a way which ensures the opponent ends up on the ground, but causing injury will be avoided as much as possible. On set pieces, Darmenis will stand their ground and will not be easily pushed around, they will not however engage in hugging. In fact, if any opposing player tries to push past them, it is not uncommon for the Darmeni player to feign resistance before simply stepping aside and watching as the opposing player stumbles past on their way to ground. This occasionally backfires however, as the referee may mistake the incidence as having been a foul in the box.

GK António Lopes (OF Académica)
Preparing to be full-time No.1, Lopes is a promising goalkeeper who could live up to expectation. During the World Cup process he showed he still had some to learn but as he comes of age, his talent does start to shine.
GK Rui Patríce (União Leiriense)
Old veteran Patríce is now drawing his Selecção's chapter at a close, now alternating with Lopes. A trusty goalkeeper and unstoppable on his day, Patríce hopes he can be part of the team that finally does it after returning to his hometown through União Leiriense. During qualifying, he kept his role as a reliable shot-stopper.
GK Luís Manuel (Sporting CL)
Luís Manuel shows himself to be a promising young keeper with plenty to give, despite having a weakness in his footwork. It is likely to look to see him play in at least one or two games this cycle

Image
LB Rúben Vinagrete
Vinagrete was left out of from a lot of the second half of qualifying but is still a dependable forward. With the formation change,
LB Nuno Mendonça (Sporting CL)
Young, energetic and with the footwork to carry the ball forward, he's certainly one to look out for. He took Vinagrete's place during a good part of the latter stage of qualifying as he suited the new position better with some in-form performances
CB Fernando Ferradura (Tikariot City - TIKARIOT)
One of two playing abroad, Ferradura has previously won the Tikariot Premier, hoping to do it again. For the Selecção he's been an undisputed part of the eleven for a while now

A Brief Info About the Squad:
After a below average World Cup Qualifying campaign, which saw them finishing in the middle half of the table, Sergey Kramnik has decided to change the squad a bit. The 23 men squad that he selected for the CoH80 is rather new and young. Four players are making their debut, while 22 year old Alexei Diyev returns to the squad after a 1 year hiatus. Some of the big names missing from the squad are Leon Vladinovich, the Lommardy FC playmaker and Max Asov, the experienced Howardsburg AC striker. Dmitry Karjodov, who played all but two matches of the WCQ also has to miss out due to a groin injury suffered in the match against Trolleborg. In his place, recently promoted side Shagdoh FC's 26 year old keeper Igor Shunin has been called up to the national team for the first time. This has created quiet an uproar among the fan's as many claim that the 20 year old Martin Kasparov would have been a better choice than the inexperienced Shunin, who has spent 3 years of his career in the second division.
The defense has been subjected to a lot of reshuffle, as two experienced players were axed, and in their place two debutants were included, which has once again caused an uproar. The defense lineup is especially young, with only Karpov and the 35 year old Savcherencko being retained, along with Charles Bloomberg. Savcherencko has recently crossed the 100 cap limit in the WCQs, and has currently amassed a total of 104 caps for his national side.
The midfield and the forward line up was not subjected to huge changes, just one or two changes here and there. Mount will be leading the side, while Petrosian will remain as the vice captain.
The coach has also indicated in a recent interview that he will include many new players in the starting lineup, and regulars might have to seat out for one or two matches. We'll see how far that is true. Also, Henrikh Shangoyan has been elected as the New Assistant Coach, as Donsekty is currently serving his 20 year sentence for treason.

KRYTENIA 2286 CUP OF HARMONY SQUAD
Modifier: +2.5

THE MANAGEMENT TEAM

Manager – Paul DAVIS, Age 50
Having taken over the reins from Jerome Jaffacake-Phillips, Davis had a bumpy ride in his early campaigns as national team manager. Following successes in the AOCAF, Di Bradini, and Eagle's Cups, the former Ousevale boss is once again staring down the barrel of a gun after another failure to qualify for the World Cup finals.

Assistant Manager – Gary BARTON, Age 47
An ex-Ousevale manager with an ex-Mercia assistant. The national team makes for strange bedfellows sometimes. Has redeemed himself excellently, taking charge of the Under-21s in their run to the recent Di Bradini Cup final.

Goalkeeping Coach – Marcus WASHINGTON, Age 53
Defensive Coach – Robert FIELDS, Age 54
Offensive Coach – Selaphiel KENNEDY, Age 44
Physiotherapist – Stephen WILLIS, Age 45

THE SQUAD

Goalkeepers

Image
Robert WILSON
VICE-CAPTAIN
Age: 28
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Unattached

No Carpenter? No problem. The former Notegia Rangers and Hondo FC keeper is currently without a club thanks to the current political climate, and will be using the Cup of Harmony as a shop window. Wilson's strength is in his agility and shot stopping; his distribution could be better.

Image
Aaron SHEPHERD
Age: 26
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Ousevale Borough

Many O-League fans agree that Ousevale's defence is the reason they're struggling to meet their own high standards; they also agree that things would be so much worse without Shepherd in possession of the gloves.

Image
Michael SVEYN
Age: 21
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Secklow

The teenager tried his damnedest to keep Penniton United up last season. It didn't quite pan out for the Pennies, but Sveyn's excellent shot-stopping abilities earned him a second chance in the Prem with Secklow. Shone between the sticks at DBC50.

Defenders

Image
Marcus BELLAMY
Age: 28
Position: Left-back
Club: Ashton Olympic

Sturdy defender of the wide channels. Not overly adventurous, but gets the job done at the back.

Image
Stephen CAMERONESI
Age: 25
Position: Right-back
Club: Casuals Osteria

Ball-winning full-back who has matured under Samuel Dee's tutelage at Casuals. Hard in the tackle, though much less reckless than he was when he first stepped onto the international scene.

Image
Ross OKANO
CAPTAIN
Age: 29
Position: Centre-back
Club: 1830 Cathair (AUD)

Young all-rounder helped guide Oustia to their first season in the big leagues...and keep them there. Narrowly missed out on a National League winners' medal with the side Krytenians "affectionately" call Half Six Furball.

Image
Joey SINTON
Age: 29
Position: Centre-back
Club: Sabrefell Moths (NPH)

Excellent reader of the game, though not necessarily the speediest. Plying his trade in Nephara has sharpened his skill base as he enters what should be the peak of his career.

Image
Billy PRICE
Age: 23
Position: Right-back
Club: Oustia

What price Price? Low enough for Oustia to snag him, apparently. Sturdy and relieable full-back, tends not to bomb forward too often.

Image
Alex RIVERS
Age: 26
Position: Centre-back
Club: Iturributa United (ASG)

An aerial threat at both ends; sometimes makes you wonder if the feet are connected to the same brain, though. Playing abroad does seem to be helping in this regard, though.

Image
Elias MOLINARI
Age: 23
Position: Centre-back
Club: Emberton Reds

Mature beyond his tender years, Molinari is cool-headed; a rare trait amongst the choke-happy Reds team. Tends to back off rather than rush into the tackle. Captained the Under-21s, and may well do the same for the national team in the future.

Image
Benjamin LISPALLE
Age: 21
Position: Left-back
Club: Beckton Supermarine

Speedy little firecracker, tends to get deployed as more of a wingback for the Mariners. Positioning skills could be a little better, though.

Midfielders

Image
Oliver SELHURST
Age: 23
Position: Left midfield
Club: Ousevale Borough

Selhurst like to cut inside, drawing full-backs out of the play and creating space for his team-mates. Has a tendency to hang on to the ball longer than is needed, but there again is excellent in the dribble.

Image
Max SNELDERS
Age: 25
Position: Central midfield
Club: Avidia United

The enthusiasm of youth, forged into steel in the crucible of playing for one of the nation's top clubs. Snelders is an all-round threat very much in the mould of Cormac O'Neill – indeed, it's the Stanton man's place that Snelders is stealing.

Image
Robert REEDER
Age: 21
Position: Right/central midfield
Club: Yeaddin Owls (VIL)

Impressed with a stunning debut season in Casuals' title-winning campaign. Reeder plays the game almost on instinct, looking to find space and run at defenders at every opportunity. A real headache to play against. Was expected to be a fixture at Coalfields for years, but the Owls made Casuals an offer they couldn't refuse. Also, Krytenians do like a trip to Yeaddin...

Image
Jésus CRUZ
Age: 27
Position: Right midfield
Club: Avidia United

First name Jesus, last name translates to cross. We'd make a joke here but we'd be crucified if we did. Lives up to his surname, at least, by being an excellent crosser of the ball.

Image
Graham STONE
Age: 23
Position: Left midfield
Club: Avidia United

Wide man with a penetrating cross. Must've had a tough paper round, as he looks closer to thirty-five than twenty-three.

Image
Andrew ASPRILLA
Age: 22
Position: Central midfield
Club: Bradwell Saints

Cultured midfielder with a sizeable box of tricks. So unpredictable, sometimes even his Saints team-mates are confused. Likely to be used when Davis gets especially experimental. Or desperate. Delete as applicable.

Forwards

Image
Alun BELMWR
Age: 26
Position: Forward
Club: Mercia Bromham

English may not be his first language - in fact, it's his third, behind Welsh and goals. Prodigious talent, oddly spelt but familiar name. Has lived up to his price tag at the Cygnus thus far, but will be hoping to set that bar even higher.

Image
Neil SMITH
Age: 32
Position: Forward
Club: Stanton Town

He may be thirty-two and built like the proverbial brick outhouse, but “The Unit” is agile and quick-footed. Hobbies include trolling Hapilopper's Nate Ellis at every possible opportunity.

Image
Cande MONTALBAN
Age: 19
Position: Forward
Club: Avidia City

If City can hold on to the lad, they'll be doing well. Montalban could be the answer to Krytenia's left-side problem up front – that, or just stick him up top and watch the fireworks.

Image
Curtis SUNDAY
Age: 31
Position: Forward
Club: CSKA Quebec (QUE)

The "Weekend Warrior" is having a renaissance after regaining his place in the squad. Knuckling down for CSKA hasn't hurt in that regard.

Image
Alex MEITNER
Age: 24
Position: Forward
Club: Casuals Osteria

Sampson, Parsons, Vinelli, and now Meitner; Krytenia seems to be developing a stock in trade of strikers called Alexander. Frippery aside, the Casuals striker is the opportunistic finisher at the spearhead of the Miners' young core.

Image
Ciaran RAFFERTY
Age: 21
Position: Forward
Club: Emberton Hibernians

One of the main reasons that Hibs made it to the top flight is this young man's predatory instinct. A clinical finisher, give him a sight of goal and he'll more than likely score. Scored for fun alongside Montalban at the Di Bradini Cup, but now has the tricky task of trying to extricate Alun Belmwr and/or Neil Smith from his place in the first team.

A disappointing World Cup has seen the sacking of one manager, the appointment of another, and a Vdaran return to the Cup of Harmony. We’re happy to be back, but some of the players won’t be back (Looking at you, Valentinos). Markos has his own ideas, so... let’s see what he’s done!

Changes from World Cup 88:
- Markos Moustakakos, formerly the goalkeeper, is now the manager - replacing Lükækš Væñøœrëñbérghüïś.
- As a result, the style mod changes to +4, and the formation changes to a 4-3-3, reflecting Markos’ managerial style.
- There is no longer a “Lineup 2”, with there now being only one mixed-age lineup.
- Zaharias Frangoglou takes Moustakakos’ place in the squad as a result, with Frangoglou’s number changing from 13 to 1.
- Valentinos Giannakos, of Chenoworth Rovers, has been deselected from the National Team by Markos Moustakakos.
- Anargyros Zerveas, of Moresville FC, has also been deselected from the National Team.
- Vangelis Mavroglou, of Paphos, has retired from international football.
- Serapheim Metrakis returns to the squad, following a period where he was no longer picked due to being Vdara’s third choice goalkeeper.
- The overall squad size has decreased from 23 to 19.

First Team

Zaharias Frangoglou - A product of the national team’s recent dive into forming their own academy rather than snatching their players from established sides, 20-year-old Zaharias has impressed many with his reflexes and diving ability, and at 6’4” he towers over most of his teammates. In the last Sporting World Cup, Frangoglou saved two penalties in the final which gave Vdara their first ever trophy - even if it was just a youth tournament. In his one season in Sylestone, he helped Avondale Beach FC finish 5th in a division where they were expected to finish 12th, which earned him a move to SW Stahlberg. Markos Moustakakos’ retirement has seen him move into the position of first team goalkeeper, where his talents will be on full display.

Tryfon Vlahiades - A wondrous wing back who always puts 100% effort into every match, Vlahiades has shown his greatness internationally, with his pace being used to get to wide areas further down the pitch. The 31-year-old is a skilful crosser and free-kick taker, and is usually the penalty-kick taker. The wing back earned a move to 1830 Cathair in Audioslavia after WC85, where he’s shown his worth as a great full-back by scoring the winning goal in 1830’s title-winning season - as well as being named as one of the Cycle 78 Galacticos.

Nestoras Galanatos - Mathaios Pardakis’ retirement at the age of 41 paved the way for Nestoras Galanatos to enter the squad, and he’s certainly proven himself. Decent domestic performances in Schottia with Marionville paved the way for a move to North Hall in Brenecia, where his performances have slightly stagnated.

Trifonas Tolakis - Cool names are an oddly effective way of making your way into one of the national team, and Trifonas Tolakis has managed to capitalise on that opportunity fully. Another product of the national team’s academy, the youth scouts predict that he’ll go far, and that commentators will enjoy saying his name out loud. It’ll be mainly Tikariotan commentators that enjoy saying his name, however, as Valnohar Rovers snapped the young defender up as soon as they heard how cool his name was.

Manousos Athanas - A fantastic wing back with more pace than sense, Athanas has been known to race past opposition midfielders and defenders with a smirk on his face and his few brain cells rattling about in his head. Now 31, Athanas seemed to have finally peaked, but he’s still as quick and as unbeatable as ever.

Kimon Karalas - A midfield maestro who is great at crosses and corners, Karalas is a player who could impress many at this World Cup. His ability to pass the ball is one that has bamboozled many opposition players before, and the 29-year-old has been known to perform skill moves such as the rainbow flick and McGeady spin relatively often, which is odd for a central midfielder. Goals aren’t uncommon for this lad either, and his form has steadily gone back up domestically with Veriasod Lakers in Tikariot.

Lambros Tantalopoulos - Having been a household name in Vdara while playing for the second lineup, it was only a matter of time before this star player made it into the first team. Ever since scoring a crucial diving header in Vdara’s Under-18 World Cup win, Tantalopoulos has been on the up, signing for South Newlandian side Walstreim Lions and taking them to three consecutive league titles - as well as the knockout stage of the IFCF Champions League.

Anargyros Stamatelis - Not much is known about this midfielder, but he is quite good. Performing decently at the last World Cup, the 31-year-old has shown critics that he is more than just an average midfielder, at least by Vdaran standards. A decent crosser, Stamatelis usually sits back in the midfield when people go forward, and he’s wary of counter attacks.

Alkiviadis Manolakis - All you really need to have a decent attack in a 4-3-3 is pacey, skilled wingers on either side. Have we got these? Abso-fucking-lutely! Alkiviadis is pacey as hell, with the ball often falling to him in times where defences need broken down.

Chirstoforos Lazelis - An athletic, quick striker who can zoom past defenders faster than every other player in this squad, Lazelis rose through the Vdaran football pyramid straight from the Gamma League to the Alpha League following the 26-year-old’s incredible performances in the 4th tier. His performances both internationally and domestically later earned him a move to Nepharan club North Laithland, where he’s been performing well.

Manousos Scafididis - Over on the right wing, we have Manousos Scafididis. This tournament will be the first time that he will appear in the first team, with the formation finally changing from a 5-3-2 to a 4-3-3, allowing for there to be wingers upfront. Scafididis’ main proficiencies are set pieces, such as corners and free kicks, as well as crossing.

Substitutes

Serapheim Metrakis - Having been overlooked for the past couple of tournaments, Metrakis was wondering whether he’d ever get called up again. Thanks to Moustakakos’ retirement, he returns to being the backup goalkeeper, albeit his chances of game time will be very minimal, injuries forbidding.

Anargyros Zerveas - Following Vdara’s disappointing last place finish in Sporting World Cup 10, Anargyros earned himself a move to Taeshan in an attempt to prove that he was in fact still a solid player with great potential. The move boosted his confidence and helped him grow as a player, and at 18 he ended up being an integral part of the Vdaran defence during Under-18 World Cup 11.

Stamatios Christakos - How many academy graduates can you have in one squad? The answer is six, and Stamatios is the third one in this list. This lad has never skipped leg day, and could probably crush a watermelon with his thighs - if he could be bothered. His sheer strength allows him to make great tackles and clearances, all while striking fear into more scrawny opponents.

Akakios Demotis - Here’s another player who moved to Taeshan after a disastrous performance in SWC 10. Amazingly, his move to Taeshan helped him a lot, and he was an integral part of the midfield duo which dominated games at times.

Themistoklis Muleas - Not the most standout player in the squad, but definitely not a bad one. He is overshadowed by most of the other attackers - and other players in the squad - but he is still definitely one to watch during this tournament. His impact on the squad was finally noticed by Euran club Blackfields, who have decided to take a punt on the young Vdaran.

Andrianos Petras - Following the advancement of Nik Cosmidis to the first team, Petras was called up from the Academy to replace him. This worked amazingly well, as he scored goal after goal after goal during Vdara’s Under-18 World Cup 11 adventure. This caught the eye of scouts in Tikariot, who snapped him up on the cheap so that he could show his skills. Since then, Andrianos has scored a huge number of goals in the Tikariot Premier League, and has proven himself to be one of the best Vdaran youngsters out there.

Ferrero Fotellis - Son of the legendary Alexis Fotellis, being a dual-national of both South Newlandia and Vdara. Tipped to be one of the next best players in this side, but there are rumours going about that he’ll switch to South Newlandia and represent them in the next World Cup. Whether this happens or not, we’ll find out soon enough.

Mathaios Makrotsis - The last academy graduate of this lineup, Makrotsis will be looking to perfect his abilities in this tournament. At the very young age of 19, Makrotsis has plenty time to perfect his abilities at his new club in Quebec - and he has a winners’ medal from the Under-18 World Cup 11.

Interim Manager: Ole Sauer

Ole Sauer returns as the interim manager for the Cup of Harmony, with the STFA board preferring stability going into the tournament before hiring on a full-time manager to lead preparation for the AOCAF tournament and World Cup 89 Qualifiers. Some have speculated that the STFA are hoping to see which managerial candidates might be available after the ‘tournament summer,’ while some say it points towards Sauer getting the role. During Sauer’s time as Goldhorns manager, the team mainly lined up in a similar 4-3-3 to that seen under Gavin Hughes with an eventual shift to a 4-4-2 near the end of the Qualifying campaign. The 4-4-2 is expected to be in use here, along with a general reliance on more and more youth players coming through.

After challenging for qualification last cycle, Saltstead have now fallen to their lowest low in qualification and the nation’s erstwhile-head coach has now departed for home. Now it falls to the woman who (as interim head coach) last got Saltstead past the quarterfinals at a major tournament to take the reigns of the Stallions full time and guide them through the uncertain waters that Saltsteadish football must now tread. All that Saltstead need and are looking for is a little spark of hope to build off of.

Personnel
Head coach:
Frue Christiane van Åupħen
Assistant coaches: Heir Aleksänder van den Bergen and Heir Clement Kolen
Fitness coach: Fure Elisabeth Grönberg | Medical lead: Heir Alexander Sänt-Johannes | Physio: Frue Michaèla Appelhorst
Former Saltsteadish youth team director and interim head coach during the nearly-tragic Cup of Harmony 74 campaign, Van Åupħen returns to the Saltsteadish fold from a middling stint overseas with Saint Anne Athletic. Coming into the role with the aim of resuscitating a stagnant Saltsteadish national team, Van Åupħen’s appointment is a long-overdue recongition of her formative role in the Stallions’ history and the Halsinger has used her newfound creative freedom to adopt a greater focus on the neglected counterattack that won the Confederation plaudits in years gone by. Van Åupħen has retained one of her predecessor’s co-assistants, with fitness coach and former Stallions midfielder Clement Kolen promoted to be Aleksänder van den Bergen’s partner on staff.

The default Saltsteadish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic attack, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on, with possession mostly confined to the midfield. Saltstead prefer to play a passing game in possession, while attempting to pry the ball away from the opposition when not, either by intercepting a pass or tackling players. The Stallions will attempt to frustrate and infuriate the opposition and are unashamed of playing for draws and advancing via penalty shoot-outs.

For example: “Carle de Marħt” (not “Carle De Marħt”), but “De Marħt” (not “de Marħt”).

CHARTISTANI NATIONAL TEAM
Squad for the 88th World Cup

About Chartistan

The Musicalistic Union of the Cities of Chartistan (Often just Chartistan) is a nation in the region of Sonnel. The capital city, Billboard, is where most of the residents live and work, and is also home to the main governing jurisdiction of the country. Other major cities include Official City, Gaon and Aria.

About the National Team

The Chartistani national team picture varies from week to week as do the Chartistani... Charts. The Chartistani NT was decided by this week's Chartistani Hot Chart, a 100 player index of the top players in Chartistan, the Bubbling Under Hot Chart, a 25 player index of up and comers, and whatever other chart we could find.

The main Chartistani home kit is purple with blue accents, while the away kit is mostly black.

Manager: Doctor Lucas Combbrush
A Musicville district citizen of Chartistan's largest city Billboard, Doctor Combbrush has been inside and outside the game of football for the last couple of years as a player and a manager. His side had just come out of a successful World Cup qualifying campaign, at least by their standards, and hope to replicate or even succeed it this cycle. I mean, they beat freaking Savojarna and drew with Zwangzug of all teams last time...
