Jedi
Name: Seel'akru (the given name being Seela, and the clan name Kru)

Race: Twi'lek

Appearance: Seela has a youthful appearance, with skin of a shallow purple hue and eyes of a deep sea blue.

Rank: Knight (Consular)

Ideology: An early follower of Vane, though Seela has always been known for putting her own spin on the Vanite philosophy. She's also a committed abolitionist, and believes the Order should intervene to put an end to slavery.

Lightsaber: Seela's kyber crystal produces a lightsaber of a deep, emerald green colour. She is known to be most proficient in Vaapad, Form VII, which she learnt from its creator Corde Vane directly. Seela is known to be a particularly emotive user of what is already an emotive lightsaber form, channelling resentment and righteous justice into her powerful and rapid strikes. Seela was also trained in Form II, Makashi, by Master Dooku, to whom she was a padawan.

Force Proficiencies: Seela is known to be a strong user of mind-based force powers, capable of altering memories, and performing the classic Jedi mind tricks. She's also been known to inspire compassion through the force. She is also renowned for her use of force whirlwind, and it is rumoured that she has some proficiency in the clandestine electric judgment power.

Backstory and personal history: Seela was, like most of her species, born into slavery on Ryloth. Her mother was an enslaved dancer, and her father worked long, hard days in the spice mines. Seela also entered slavery at a young age, first as a house-servant to a Hutt and later as a dancer herself. Given this early life, it is not hard to see how Seela would end up harbouring such ill-will towards the Hutt and toward slavery in general. Seela's lot in life, however, was not to serve the Hutt. She was freed from slavery by then-Jedi Knight Corde Vane, who recognised that the young twi'lek was force-sensitive. And so, Seel'akru was taken by Vane to the Jedi Temple, where she became a padawan under Master Dooku. She initially struggled to learn the ways of the force, and often chaffed under Dooku's training. With his aristocratic background, she initially saw the old man in the same light as those who had kept her in bondage on Ryloth, but with time she came to respect Dooku, his skill and his knowledge. It was not long before she became a Jedi Knight, and a key member of Vane's movement. An ardent believer in the Living Force, she also believes that it is imperative that the Jedi Order intervenes in galactic affairs; not least to put a final end to slavery. Now, with Vane's death, Seela has returned from her duties elsewhere to seek answers on Coruscant, and to ensure that Vane's movement outlives the untimely death of its creator.

Entourage/Retinue: Dhiske Kossa, a young Rodian who is her padawan (also open to this becoming/being replaced by a player character) and R3-D6, her astromech droid

Senator
Name: Lott Dod
Race: Nemodian
Appearance:
Image

Representative: Trade Federation
Ideology: Corporatist
Galactic Faction: Rim Faction
Backstory and personal history: Lott Dod was born on Nemoidia in 939 RE, to a wealthy and influential Nemodian family with well-established political and economic connections, including several former members of the Trade Federation Directorate. Like all grubs, he was brought up in the communal hive until the age of seven, after which he and the other grubs were deliberately forced to compete for limited supplies of food, a system designed to weed out the weak while the most acquisitive thrived by hoarding more than they could eat. Surviving this ruthless upbringing, Lott Dod was accepted into the ranks of the Trade Federation as a junior officer, a member of the Trade Federation's legions of bureaucrats and administrators in its audit department.

Seeking to work his way upwards through the ranks of the Federation, having entered as a junior officer, Lott Dod formed an early alliance with Nute Gunray, a fellow officer, and supplied Gunray with the financial records of the Pulsar Supertanker Corporation, then a member of the Trade Federation, during a review of its continued membership of the Trade Federation. This review saw the Pulsar Supertanker Corporation removed from the Trade Federation, citing Gunray's report. This ruthless teamwork would see Gunray chosen as the Trade Federation's Senator in 956 RE, with Lott Dod serving as his chief of staff.

Increasing incidents of piracy, both regular and inter-corporate, saw Gunray lobby unsuccessfully for an increase in the allowed strength of the Trade Federation's droid army to protect itself. With the Republic unwilling to intervene, the Trade Federation had no choice but to begin illegally increasing the size of its army and navy to protect its extremely lucrative trade networks. Gunray presided smoothing over several minor incidents in the 950s, bribing senators and building a network of pro-corporate senators within the Senate, leaving the post in 960 to his right-hand man, Lott Dod, while joined the Trade Federation Directorate.

Dod continued Gunray's role in the Senate, obfuscating and covering for the increasingly aggressive moves of the Trade Federation in taking control over lucrative sources of wealth. Chancellor Valorum's unexpected increase in taxes on the Trade Federation's trade routes and Lott's inability to block them in the Senate caused Gunray, seeking to solidify his control over the Directorate, and with the support of Settlement Officer Rune Hakko and Captain Daultay Dofine of the Trade Federation Army, to launch an invasion and blockade of Naboo, hoping to use the world as leverage to force the new taxes to be reverted while Lott covered the illegality of their actions in the Senate. The dispatch of two Jedi was unexpected, and ultimately led to the plot's unravelling as the Jedi successfully arrested those responsible.

Under orders from the Trade Federation Directorate, which had not been informed of the plan, Lott Dod decried Gunray and his allies actions as those of a rogue element within the Trade Federation, that had illegally commandeered their security forces to invade a planet. Apologising profusely on behalf of the Trade Federation, and in a move designed to secure his own position, Lott Dod ensured that the so-called 'Triumvirate of Naboo' was tried and found guilty. Pleased with his conduct, the Directorate named Lott Dod as the new Viceroy in 969 while he simultaneously held the position as Senator, not having a capable ally to hand the role off to.

Although the Federation initially faced only minor setbacks after Naboo, the election of Bel Zaan in 971 RE forced Lott to remain as Senator for longer than he would have liked, as a militarist, anti-corporate and centralising Chancellor was one that required an experienced, deft hand to oppose, not that of someone who had only observed. Lott Dod would be one of Bel Zaan's main opponents in the Senate, fighting tooth and nail for every scrap of power and against every centralising act of authority, displaying a ruthless pragmatism in his willingness to build cross-ideological coalitions on individual issues. Only facing a narrow defeat in Bel Zaan's election to a second term, Lott Dod finds himself preparing to fight yet another long, drawn-out war of procedure, deal-brokering and diplomacy, an art he has long since mastered.
Entourage/Retinue:
  • Lufa Danak and Mik Regrap: Lott Dod's right and left hands, diplomatic and legal aides. (Nemoidian)
  • Gers Takanen: Dod's chief of staff and liaison with the Directorate. (Nemoidian)
  • Tasekank: A former bounty hunter, hired as Dod's personal bodyguard. (Trandoshian)
  • Vost Nedal: Dod's on-staff financial expert. (Bothan)
  • One squad of eight B1 battle droids.
  • A single Droideka.

Jedi
Name: Rehstra Vel-Ahstee
Race: Mirialan
Appearance:
Image

Rank: Knight
Ideology: Grey Jedi. Rehstra holds rather non-conformist beliefs about the Force, the role of the Jedi, and the nature of what actual balance is. In her mind, light and dark are both sides of the same coin, and the Jedi's insistence on completely ignoring on and slavishly adhering to the other is a recipe for inevitable disaster. Instead, she believes in a philosophy of learning from both. As she often likes to phrase it, the core of her beliefs are that "there is dark to push us forward, but light to guide the way."
Lightsaber:
Image

Rehstra's lightsaber is single bladed and old, made from chromium and titanium, though it is so scratched and dented from use that it is hard to really tel at all what it was made with. It is wrapped in cloth and leather strips for comfort on the wielders palms, but these too are beginning to fray and tear with age. Despite the less than favorable appearance on its outside, Rehstra has taken great measures to care for its functionality, and it is in excellent shape internally, its blue kyber crystal still producing a blade just as brilliant and strong as when she first crafted it.

In terms of skill, Rehstra is a master of Soresu and a skilled user of Shii Cho, as well as a lesser known form, Sokan, an ancient lightsaber fighting style focused more on the use of ones agility and surroundings to fight as much as their actual saber.
Force Proficiencies: Along with her basic skills that all Jedi possess, such as pushing, pulling and leaping, Rehstra has proven to be an incredible user of the force to twist her enemies thoughts. Her skill with these mind tricks largely evolves from her beliefs that it is the duty of a Jedi to defend those who cannot defend themselves. However, she abhors needless killing and avoids it whenever she can, and has consequently greatly honed her skill with these mind tricks so as to avoid killing whenever necessary, but still give her a powerful edge over most people.

Additionally, while she is not nearly as skilled, she has begun to hone her skill in Tutamanis, and while not being able to catch blaster bolts or absorb force lighting like some can, she is able to at least deflect the energy away from her using the force.
Backstory and personal history: Whoever her parents were, Rehstra never knew them. She was born on her races home world of Mirial, amidst all its cold and barren wastes, but remembers little of it. For the first four years of her life she was raised in a small orphanage on a wide tundra, before a Twi’lek woman in strange flowing robes came, saying she was searching for something. Or someone. The Twi’lek was named Astal, and she said she was a Jedi Knight. The staff at her orphanage told the children to not bother her, and that she would be staying with them for a little while. But Rehstra was far from one to listen to rules, and one night after everyone had gone to sleep went out to meet Astal, having seen her pass by her room. Rehstra spied on her, watching what she was doing, when Astal seemed to simply know she was there. Beckoning her over, Astal had Rehstra simply sit with her. Rehstra watched Astal, emulating what she did, and doing as Astal told, simply breathing and concentrating. “On what?” she asked. “You will just know,” responded Astal. So she did as directed, and suddenly could sense. . . everything. And Astal seemed to know too.

Not long after, and Rehstra was being informed that she would be leaving with Astal, to go to Coruscant and study. She was to young to understand what was happening, but it was soon apparent that she would be joining the Jedi. Astal had seen something in her, a deep understanding of the force, and the potential to wield it. It was Astal’s request that when Rehstra was old enough, it would be her who was Rehstras master. The council agreed, though there was some debate. Astal was a known trouble maker. Her skills in the force were undeniable, but at the same time she was unpredictable and worryingly focused on things the Order feared would lead her to the Dark Side. But, she was one of the most promising force users in the Order, so she was none the less one of the best choices to one day train a girl like Rehstra, who showed so much promise.

Years passed as she trained with the other Younglings, where she developed a reputation as a skilled wielder of the force and the problem child. She was constantly being chased around the temple by the older Jedi, pulling her off of high places and dragging her kicking and yelling back to her lessons. It was immediately clear that if there was one thing Rehstra would never do, it was conform to anyone's ideals. And these concerns only seemed to get worse once she reached the age of twelve, and Astal returned for her padawan. Astal was generally a more subdued personality, but she encouraged Rehstra’s individuality, teaching her to forge her own path.

Astal made her life seeking out conflict and doing what she could to help others move through it. Her beliefs were controversial, teaching her young padawan that there was nothing truly evil in the Galaxy, even if some people could make things cruel. Everything was connected to the Force, all things stemmed from it, and therefore the true path to enlightenment was not to shun that which she feared but to embrace it. To Astal, and by extension to Rehstra, there was a difference between acknowledging the darkness one was capable of and learning to harness it, and allowing that darkness to control you. And this Rehstra took to heart. To her, the teachings of the Jedi were incongruous with their actions, and she developed a deep seated interest in what they had once been.

She began to search for any and all stories she could get her hands on, attempting to get to the bottom of the Force as a whole, trying to understand its every working. She poured over ancient texts, scrolls and tales, beginning what would become a life long obsession with finding the ancient truths. She came to believe that the Jedi were a force for good, but with flawed ideologies, and saw it as her duty to seek out a better way for the future.

Sadly, the Order did not see her actions the same way she did. While she continually served them, and believed highly in their traditions and goals, her acceptance of, and even occasional use of the Dark Side was seen as dangerous and unpredictable. While she never was cast out of the Jedi Order, it became increasingly hard for her to find allies from within. Even after achieving the rank of Knight, it was difficult for her to get her opinions across. However, she chose to press on. Never one to let the opinions of others get her down, Rehstra pushed forward in her quest to seek out the truth, delving into ancient ruins and dusty libraries, searching for any artifacts that could lead her closer to her end goal.

Rehstra continued to work, and work hard, dreaming of one day making a difference in the philosophies of the Jedi Order, and working hard to be granted the rank of master. She had been searching for her artifacts and texts, helping in the libraries and records rooms, and had even begun keeping an eye out for promising younglings, hoping to find one to take on as a padawan of her own. However, things were soon to change for Rehstra, when the crisis concerning Corde Vane's death occurred, followed quickly by an attempt on the Chancellors life. She had heard the rumblings of conflict brewing for quite some time, but had payed them little mind. They had little effect on her own life, if it became important she could deal with it then. But before she knew it, the entire Galaxy seemed to be on the brink of catastrophe, and Rehstra was given no other option but to sink or swim in this rapidly changing environment.
Entourage/Retinue: R4-P37: Rehstra's personal astromech droid, and the co-pilot of her Delta 7B, though that is a rarity of her actually using it for long. In reality, R4-P37, or just Thirty Seven as Rehstra calls him, is more of a friend and companion, who's lively and energetic personality has often been known to contrast with the calm and serene Rehstra.

Kahbier Sivvos: Not quite a friend, but not an enemy either, Kahbier is a corellian who Rehstra has long been an acquaintance of. He is a smuggler and a fence, and though Rehstra is not particularly excited about many of his activities, he does have his uses. Most notably as an informant, giving Rehstra information on the sorts of artifacts she is looking for, and often tipping her off as to where to find them, in exchange for her not bringing him into the proper authorities.

Krrhuthrraa: Krrhuthrraa is a rookie, large even by the standards of his species, yet particularly gentle and kind. And an old friend. Krrhuthrraa befriended Rehstra when Rehstra was a padawan, often inviting Rehstra and her master Astal to come and drink tea with him, and look out over the jungles and trees of Kashyyyk. From there, they have maintained contact, and Rehstra often will stop by and visit with her old friend on her way back to the Temple from a mission.

Astal Bissua: Astal is Rehstra's old master. While older and generally spending her twighlight years puttering around the libraries and assisting with the younglings now, Astal is far from unskilled, having more than earned her title of Master. Much like her former padawan, she is an exceptional force user, and sharp witted to a fault. Much like Krrhuthrraa, Rehstra largely visits with Astal for simple guidance and a peaceful presence, someone to help her make sense of the world and give her advice. After all, Astal, despite her rather grandmotherly personality, (she does so love to give candies to the younglings) is anything but inexperienced, and has seen a little of everything the galaxy has to offer.

Cynir Rushot: Cynir Rushot is a Cathar prostitute who makes her living on the junkyard planet of Bracca, servicing the workers there. Much like Kahbier on Corellia, Cynir, by virtue of her line of work, hears a lot of things as various items and clues are dug out of the ships being scrapped there. For this reason, Rehstra often goes to Cynir for information, exchanging money for leads.

Jedi
Name: Dooku (born Dooku of House Serenno)
Race: Human (Serennian, specifically)
Appearance: Brave, but foolish - my old Jedi friend.
Rank: A Jedi Master and sits on the Jedi High Council.
Ideology: Dooku’s ideology is a complex one. At a first glance, Dooku may be perceived to be an Orthodox Jedi; who’s powers with the sabre and control of the force and his understanding of it as a relatively traditionalist voice on the council. He has served on the council for many years, and his voice carries authority and weight -- he has weighed in on countless debates, given credible arguments in favour of solutions that have required immense restraint and patience, and has dutifully served the order. It is quite reasonable for some to assume him to be a Jedi like 'any other'.

It cannot be further from the truth. Whilst Vane came to many of her conclusions on her own, it was Dooku’s teachings that inspired this streak of independence in his late-apprentice. It was Dooku’s grand soliloquies on the stagnation of the republic, his lamentations for an order of knights lost, his concerns for a galaxy without a true guiding force, that set the seeds in the mind for Vane’s regeneration of the ‘living force’. His experiences of injustices, inaction, stagnation and 'bureaucracy' within the order has left a sour taste in the ageing master's mouth.

He would align with Vane’s followers, but it is hard to call him one with his position. Realistically, Dooku has his own beliefs of the force -- though he would likely fit quite neatly into a Silver/Altisian mix.
Lightsaber: Whilst familiar and capable with Forms I - VI, Dooku may be the most forefront practitioner of 'Form II', Makashi, within the current Jedi Order. A skilled duellist, Dooku's work with a lightsaber is considered elegant and masterful; relying on his footwork and technique as much as the power of the blade. His lightsaber is curved in an iconic style and the blade is a brilliant blue.
Force Proficiencies: Dooku possesses the mastery of the force like any other Jedi of his rank; it is extensive and knowledge, far reaching in his understanding and capable in its application across numerous disciplines. Despite this, he is perhaps most known amongst the Order for his use of electric judgement and his extensive understanding of healing through the force.
Backstory and personal history:
Born in the year 102 BBY on the planet of Serenno; Dooku's parents were the planet's ruling aristocratic family. Shortly after; Dooku's force capabilities had manifested enough to become noticeable and his parents, Count Gora and Countess Anya of House Serenno, willingly surrendered him to the Jedi Order so he could train under them. Unlike many of his peers, Dooku was aware of his background - what he had come from. And whilst this level of attachment was still in its infancy, a sense of pride existed in the adolescent Dooku on his willingness to be true, or to even surpass, his stature prior to his ordination.

Dooku proved to be something of a force savant; showing an apt skill and determination with telekinesis and winning several of the youngling tournaments and competitions that encouraged Jedi discipline and virtues. His proficiency caught the attention of Jedi Master Thame Cerulian, who chose Dooku as his padawan. Cerulian was undoubtedly a good teacher and a skilled mentor who's approach to teaching honed Dooku's strengths and helped him counter his weaknesses. Under Cerulian's tutelage Dooku had mastered several lightsaber forms, even going as far as to adamantly wish to prioritise Form II. Yet on a personal level Dooku would come to 'resent' his master as a representation of the bureaucratic and inactive morass that the Jedi Order had become. Cerulian, a keen historian in the history of the Republic, would use its periods of grace as anecdotes and seminars -- and Dooku came to contrast and compare the Republic so highly praised by Cerulian to the one in existence, lighting the spark for his political idealism.

At the age of 20, Dooku became a Jedi Knight. It was also at this time he received his first padawan (name left blank in case anyone wishes to have them). The two individuals had a mutual respect for one another, with the young padawan having caught Dooku's attention with their potential during their stage as a youngling. The two were often assigned to missions that required a diplomatic touch; which Dooku revelled in as a people's person. In one such instance, Dooku uncovered a vast conspiracy of political corruption, potential assassination, sabotage and the skirting of galactic child labour laws all originating from a former youngling and man he once called a friend, Lorian Nod.

His experiences with Nod left a sour taste in the young Dooku, who saw that the Republic's corruption was endemic -- and expansive. That it could seep in like rot and corrupt the morality of the individuals within it for both profit, status and power. Dooku's imparting words to his padawan following this was a stern warning of the ability of anyone to be tempted. And it required immense understanding of the Force to ward off its temptations.

Dooku was promoted to master upon the completion of his padawan's training. What followed were numerous ventures across the galaxy in the promotion of peace. Dooku considered himself to be a proactive peace-keeper, who would organise relief efforts, broker peace treaties and specialise in conflict resolution. One such incident came throughout his brokering skills put in display on the spice world of Sevarcos.

His successful manipulation and wading through that political mindfield led to Dooku being offered a prestigious position on the Jedi Council; yet initially the Count denied. He was prioritising his 'proactive peace-keeping'. It was during this deliberation where he would gain a new padawan -- the now famous, or infamous, Corde Vane. Dooku and Vane's relationship, though they would not know it, would rock the foundations of the Jedi Order. Vane, a young human woman, was proficient in the force. Extremely so. And Dooku took to watching her progress as a youngling quite intently whilst he was on Coruscant. It came to a stage where Dooku agreed to a position on the council, but only if he was given the young Vane as his padawan.

Vane was instructed by Dooku in ways substantially different to how he had been instructed by Master Cerulien all those years ago and, with the experience he had gained instructing his first padawan, Dooku would come to believe he "did a better job" when it came to Vane. She was taught that the rigidity of the order were noble guidelines but not objective moral principles; that at times even though Jedi were taught to be abstaining from their emotions and prioritising reason, it was not as black and white as was required. Dooku took Vane under his wing to impart on her what he perceived to be 'the great injustices': the corruption endemic in the Republic that they adored and the fear that that very corruption could seep into the Jedi order if action was not taken quickly enough.

Their most important mission was Dooku's leading of a Jedi-task force to the planet Galidraan at the request of dealing with Mandalorian invaders. And whilst the actual scenario was far more convoluted, including Mandalorian factions fighting each other and corruption from the planet's governor, the Jedi were successful - albeit with a substantial loss in their taskforce. Dooku and Vane survived, and Dooku pushed forth her candidacy for the knighthood in full earnest given she had excelled in physical and force combat against the fearsome Mandalorian warriors and was able to keenly assist Dooku in uncovering the true nature of what had happened at Galidraan.

Seeing his second padawan advance through the ranks placed in Dooku a genuine belief that there were subtle changes affecting the order. He had hoped his two proteges would take his advice to heart and understand that whilst he respected the Jedi; there were significant alterations in how they could be conducted. When he was informed of Vane's freeing of a force-sensitive Twi'lek slave, Dooku was honoured to take the young Seel'akru as his apprentice -- even if they did get off to a rocky start.

In more recent years, Dooku was a vocal proponent in sending a Jedi intervention to the blockade of Naboo -- even suggesting sending himself. He was the Jedi dignitary to the Huk War, where he pushed for Jedi and Republic recognition of Huk aggression against the Kaleesh.

The now elder, respected Councillor has had a turbulent last few years. From following up on the Trade Federation's blockade of Naboo, to aiming to follow up the on the resurgent potential of the Sith. Dooku firmly believes that recent galactic events are connected, but he can't prove it yet. And his investigations have been hampered by recent events personal to him.

The political shake up of the Galactic Senate has seen many ideas circulate and the increasingly popularity of Vane's ideology has caused him to be the source of contention within the Council. Vane was often referred to as 'Dooku's problem' in her training years, and that moniker had circled back to haunt him. Yet, in increasingly strange circumstances -- her former master was not on Coruscant at the time of her murder, nor for the attempted assassination of the Supreme Chancellor. He was in fact at his old home of Serenno, resolving a dispute between some of the lesser houses in a ruling that saw him side against his own familial interests.

Yet upon the news reaching him of Vane's death, the elder master has become distant. Silent. Brooding. Attachments are forbidden, but Vane was special. And he laments her loss as something conspiratorial and he worries himself that his absence led to her enemies being emboldened.

He has only returned to Coruscant today, in the hopes of investigating the disappearance of Vane's padawan and her own murder.

Entourage/Retinue: Dooku, a noted peacekeeper and diplomat with a highly charismatic personality, has a series of individuals who have become attracted to his cause throughout the years.
  • Qymaen jai Sheelal - During the Huk War, Dooku departed from Coruscant to oversee a conflict that had gone under the Republic's radar. And whilst he had come to understand the Republic had launched their support of the Huk, he learnt they had been the aggressors. Distraught at the treatment of the Kaleesh, Dooku aimed to sympathise and console a grieving warlord of the Kaleesh; and has brought him under his tutelage to teach of the order's ways without any actual discipline as a Jedi. He's a skilled swordsman, though.
  • Sev'rance Taan - How Dooku became friends, or acquaintances, with a Chiss is unknown to many. As per the Jedi Master, he claimed to have met the woman on her own contract: Taan was contracted to kill Chairman Chi Cho of the Pantoran Assembly. And when he foiled her attempt, he seemed to find an admiration for the woman and her skills -- and whilst having a distaste for the mercenary work, could sense something about her that was different. He has kept in close contact with her since. Despite her powerful ranks within the Chiss Ascendency, and what Dooku presumes to be a communication with, Taan is Dooku's liaison into underworld activity by way of her brother -- a bounty hunter -- and into ambassadorial staff, given her vague standing as a representative of her people.
  • Vhis Tass - When Dooku led his Jedi at Galidraan to victory, the Jedi Master earned the respect of the Mandalorian clans for his tactics, bravery, skills as a warrior and, most decisively, his victory. One of the strangest elements of the battle of Galidraan came that Dooku was approached some time later. A member of the Old Mandalorians, Tass provides Dooku with underhand technological expertise when he requires it as a sort of personal atonement for her mercenary work.
  • R3-T9 - Dooku's personal astromech droid for his Delta 7 light interceptor. Whilst some Jedi form personal attachments with their droids; Dooku is quite adamant that his is nothing more than a tool. He is not cruel to it; but not caring, and frankly quite distant from it.
  • Others as I think of them :P

I am contemplating either the Sith master or a militarist to counter the Jedi and the Trade Federation. Both will most likely be interesting, but the Sith is more important to the story, of course. I would have to come up with a master plan, though, but I have inklings... yes...
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

Accepted, though any forays into the Dark Side would have to be kept under wraps. The Jedi Order at this time is heavily centralised and orthodox, any known use of the Dark Side would result in action taken against the offending Jedi. For initial offences this would of course focus on redemptive acts and teaching the dangers of the Dark Side, but continued offences could lead to grounding at Coruscant, to an eventual expulsion from the Order.

Supreme Chancellor
Name: Bel Zaan
Race: Chagrian
Appearance:
Image

Representative: N/A, formerly Senator for Chagria until 971 RE
Ideology: Zaan has always firmly been in the militarist camp, and is a known staunch anti-Corporatist. His principles have only intensified since becoming Supreme Chancellor.
Galactic Faction: Neither, though he has courted the Core Faction and has more of a power base there than with the Rim Faction.
Backstory and personal history:
There is relatively little of note or controversy in Zaan's history before becoming the Supreme Chancellor. He was born into a family of means and note on Chagria, allowing him a fine education and access to many options across the galaxy. His entire career has been political, having first worked a few years in the relatively still and benign Chagrian political sphere, before making the leap to Coruscant.

He attended Chagria's Senator Mors Cumirra, working initially as an assistant, before becoming his right-hand man and serving as a Represenative. It was from Cumirra that Zaan first began to form his convictions, noting the endemic corruption in the Senate, the various weaknesses in the Republic. The aged Cumirra eventually resigned, recommending Zaan to be his successor, a recommendation which, coupled with a large war chest and notable connections, allowed the relatively unknown Zaan to achieve a position on the galactic stage.

Where before Zaan had been a relatively quiet and unassuming presence in the Senate, merely Cumirra's shadow, he now emerged as a firebrand. Before his outbursts, polarisation in the Senate had been a relatively quiet affair, kept behind closed doors, and something the public had no knowledge about. Zaan, and a new generation of Senators, changed the old order, and began, in different ways, to question the validity of the Ruusan Reformation almost a millennia later. Zaan did not disagree with the principles of the Reformation, but he argued that a new Valorum was needed to reshape the Republic for a new age.

The Valorum they got, however, soon became a disappointment. Zaan knew Finis Valorum to be a hard-working Senator with a distaste for corruption, and so was disappointed to see him fail to overcome the corporatists and the old order. The Naboo Crisis was the final straw for Zaan and his faction, who saw in it a chance for Valorum to push through radical reforms. Instead they saw him rely on the Jedi, while attempting a diplomatic solution that would inevitably fail. Their fury rose when the Trade Federation were all but allowed to get away with the blatantly illegal actions.

In 971 Zaan seized on the mood of the Senate, easily gaining a nomination, and managing to align his budding militarist faction with the pacifists and unaligned with a promise of moderate reforms, but staunch anti-corruption and anti-corporatism. He found the position of Supreme Chancellor underwhelming, and saw where Valorum had failed. Valorum had attempted to keep to his principles and the law, while Zaan knew that to truly believe in his ideals, he would have to betray them. His first term was relatively quiet, though behind the scenes Zaan has been making great changes. He has made steady changes to the courts, including an age-term limit which has allowed him to slowly start packing them with supporters. In secret he has begun preparations for a Republic Military, funnelling money to various projects which act as fronts for a series of militias which will form the initial backbone of a military.

He won a second term narrowly, aided by the refusal of the pacifists to back a corporatist candidate. No longer needing to seek re-election, he now seeks to be bolder. An attempt made on his life during a transit across Coruscant has only emboldened him and his faction. Rumours abound that he intends to bring forward a potential vote on a military, or an increase on the Judicial Forces.

Sith
Name: Mecko Rendor (Darth Imperatus)
Race: Human
Appearance:
Image

Rule of Two: Master
Grand Plan:
Power needs to be twice refused before it is taken” – Darth Invictrix

“Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.”
- The Sith Code

In order to implement the Grand Plan to succeed, not only does the Secret Sith need to attain the highest power possible. In 1000 years and 400 generations, it would obviously have been possible for a Sith to be elected to the position of the Supreme Chancellor, just by the power of statistics. Similarly, with the power to orchestrate a major crisis, it would even have been possible in that time to achieve empire. But what good is the Sith Empire if it can pass without the universe knowing it happened?

The rise of the Sith cannot be a mere rise to power. It has to embody the basis of the Sith Creed. A show of power, veneration of victory, and the freedom that power brings with it. That truth forms the basis for the Grand Plan as reformulated by Darth Invictrix, which does not merely plan out a rise to power; it plans out the veneration that needs to happen to make that power last.

Every civilisation in the galaxy has, in its history, a story similar to this. A soldier from humble beginnings but of great talent rises quickly through the ranks in a period of hardship. The old order is swept aside by the sheer genius of this officer, who cannot help but achieve victory in even the most dire of circumstances. Rising victorious from hopeless campaign after hopeless campaign, the soldier returns home to see corruption stifling the nation, and in order to defend her, reluctantly accepts absolute power to defeat her enemies; cheered on by the masses and the soldiers alike as the Darling Child of Victory.

Such is the Grand Plan of Invictrix. A Sith Empire that is not only governed by a Sith, but with a population that venerates power and victory as much as the Sith do themselves; that detests peace and Jedi pacifism, until they are ready to accept the absolute rule of a Sith warrior as supreme commander.

For generations, the Sith have been preparing for the galaxy to be ready. The Ruusan reformation, a time of detestable peace, provided a time for the Sith to hone their skills in quiet, away from the eyes of the Jedi. Because while the Republic was at peace, the planets under her domain were not, and this era was marked by a thousand little conflicts. Conflicts during which the Sith could not only practice their tactical prowess and the use of the force in commanding troops, but also the art of War and Peace, how nations could be driven to war and how they could then be driven to their knees, and most importantly: what it takes for the populace to hail a conquering general as their leader. All this, while waiting for the galaxy to be ready for a new conflict.

The time is now fast approaching. The debate on militarisation and the Trade Federation crisis provides a backdrop for a possible future war. All this while Darth Imperatus is in place as lieutenant-brigadier Mecko Rendor. Not well-known yet, there is still some work to be done to make Rendor ready to receive a battlefield commission once the shooting starts. Something for which the current political crisis, involving the chancellor, the Jedi Order, and intrigue, is perfectly suited. In the background, using force visions, Imperatus and his predecessors have been making clever investments, meaning they have a large fund at their disposal to influence the media image, once that becomes an issue.

Philosophy: Darth Imperatus is a Sith commander; someone who has become proficient in the use of the force to make tactical decisions. Predicting enemy movements, inspiring the men under his command, and performing acts of heroism that would be mortally dangerous for a regular person, but which are carefully conceived risks in the hands of a Dark Force user. Wherever he goes, troops seem suddenly eager and motivated to charge into the fray and achieve mighty victories.
Public Persona: Publicly, Darth Imperatus poses as Mecko Rendor, a lieutenant-brigadier in the Judicial Forces of the Republic; a young promising officer with a streak of brilliance and a knack for organisation. He upholds this persona by it, generally, being true, although his strength with the force was instrumental in him getting through the Academy, and is still important for him to keep up the façade of brilliance. At the same time, he manages to shield his Sith identity from the Jedi by clouding their visions, and by being so close, that is made all the more easy, especially since they are not looking for him.
Lightsaber: Red, naturally. A two-handed handle with a slightly longer blade than usual. Imperatus is trained and proficient in Dun Möch, but is most experienced with forms of force-aided blaster combat, due to him trying to remain unrecognised while fighting on the battlefield.
Force Proficiencies: Force lightning, battle meditation, force valour, force visions, force concealment, force fear & confusion
Backstory and personal history: Born on the lower levels of Hosnian Prime in 951 RE, little Mecko never really knew his parents. He was left in front of an orphanage with nothing but a note with his name and a small amount of cash. Why his parents abandoned him he didn’t know; probably for lack of money or because he showed some early force abilities his parents wanted nothing to do with. Whatever the case, Mecko grew up rough and tumble in an orphanage where the staff let the kids fight out a pecking order among themselves. This made it easier for them to control the kids, as they just needed to placate the ‘leaders’ in order to maintain discipline. Although Mecko started off at the bottom, the constant beatings unlocked his latent force powers around age 11, and he used them to effect in climbing the ranks. However, he did know how to hide them, since he knew that, if the other kids realised this about him, they would all rise up to push him down. Or worse, he would be shipped off to the Jedi Order, which did not have a particularly good reputation on the lower levels of Hosnian.

How Darth Expulsus found Mecko he never learnt. Tucked away at the bottom of a city planet, far away from the eyes of the galaxy, destined for a life in the shadows or using his powers to aid some crime syndicate, there was little chance of discovery. And yet, one day, there he stood; general Ylek Pom, armed with a large suitcase and a ship to take him off-world. No-one explained anything to him, nobody really even spoke. The staff silently handed him over, and Ylek Pom thanked them kindly, and that was the last Mecko saw of his orphanage, or even of Hosnian Prime. Instead, Mecko would be raised on Corellia, and the villa Darth Expulsus had there.

Expulsus truly raised Mecko as his own child. To his apprentice at the time, Expulsus claimed that it was a part of his disguise. However, there was true love between the two. It seemed that Darth Expulsus, far from being the cold, calculating Sith Lord he was destined to be, was more interested in the sedentary, domestic life than he let on, or at least more than he knew himself. Expulsus was away often, either on business for the Republic or for the Grand Plan, though he was not an absent father. He was home as often as he could, and raised Mecko as a person rather than just as an acolyte. More than once did Expulsus show his disappointment with his apprentice at the time. In reality, Darth Nox wanted nothing more than to be the son Expulsus never had, but he never quite lived up to that standard.

This went on until Mecko reached the age of 17. On the even of his birthday, he went to sleep semi-exited for the gifts he would receive. The next morning, he awoke in a desert. Two suns rose above the horizon, and Mecko had nothing on him but his pyjamas and the lightsabre his father had given to him for their first birthday together. For two days, Mecko walked the desert, until he arrived at a Tusken village. The Tuskens, mostly through Mecko’s gifts of telepathy, informed him that a foreign invader had come to their land, and was brutally suppressing them for their labour. The Tuskens were too afraid to act for fear of retaliation by the numerically and technologically superior foreign adversary. Seeing that those off-world invaders were his best chance of getting home, Mecko used his father’s training to its fullest effect. He organised Tusken forces into an effective army and began a guerrilla campaign against the off-worlders. It took weeks of hard combat, but eventually, after a gruelling siege of their base camp, Mecko managed to get the off-world mercenaries to surrender. Their leader, however, would not give up without a fight. This turned out to be none other than Darth Nox, sent there on a mission by Darth Expulsus. Mecko and Nox had an honest, heart-to-heart conversation, but realised that if they returned together, Expulsus was not going to allow them to survive. So, they duelled, and Mecko returned victorious, slaying Nox as he cried for the love of his master.

Mecko returned to his father, who could not have been more proud. He showered him with gifts, and the greatest gift of all: through his connections on Corellia, Expulsus managed to get him accepted into the Republic Judicial Academy, to begin his formal education in warfare and Republic tactics. The plan was all laid out: using the kills Expulsus had taught him, as well as Expulsus’ high position within the Republic Judiciary, Mecko would pass through the academy with flying colours. Being top of his class would be important for the later narrative, and Expulsus knew Mecko had the chance of becoming the one who eventually finalised the Grand Plan, so the training of Expulsus and his guidance would be paramount in the coming years.

On the day of his acceptance ceremony, while wearing his gala uniform, Mecko went to his father’s private study and shot him between the eyes, just giving him enough time to look Mecko in the eyes. Darth Imperatus, as his father had titled him, knew all too well that he could be the one to finalise the Grand Plan, and for his legend to be complete, he needed to rise through the ranks on his own merit, without even a hint of favouritism. That could only happen if Darth Expulsus was dead. That calculation was enough for him to slay him without hesitation.

And indeed, in four years, Mecko graduated from the Judicial Academy with flying colours, top of his class, being granted the valedictorian speech. He spoke about the importance of the Republic, the strength of its bravest defenders, and how, as long as the Judiciary forces lived, the Republic would never fall to enemies both without and within. He spoke about how he had loved his late father, and how he would finish what his father had started: eradicating corruption from the bureaucracy.

With his grades, Mecko had free pick of his commission. Instead of going for Coruscant, as his father had predicted he would do, he settled for a world on the fringes of Hutt space, rife with criminal activity, where the previous garrison commander had been skinned and left to dry in the middle of a market square. Mecko purged the world of its criminal activity, both through effective reforms, use of the force, and sheer brutality behind the scenes, as well as keeping the local media on a tight leash. At the tale end, he was offered a position on Coruscant to be attached directly to the Senate and to cooperate with the Senate Guard, but he refused. Instead, he went to Felucia, where he spent some time improving infrastructure and fighting off ferocious wildlife, which earned him a large slashing scar across his back. After he recovered, he received orders from high command which, in no uncertain terms, ordered him to go to Coruscant to take up a position there. This was after the assassination attempt on the Chancellor, which required immediate attention from the Judiciary forces. Mecko humbly accepted, and now finds himself on Corsucant, ready to assist in the investigation of two hideous crimes.
Entourage/Retinue:
One Sith apprentice, who knows his identity. Depending on the player, might lead a small Sith cult, who are unaware of the existence of Imperatus.
Major Valon Valoneses, who is unaware of Imperatus’ Sith identity, but who knows about and shares the ambition to one day be a deciding force in the galaxy.
Hulon Gambor, a retired media magnate in the pocket of Imperatus who is ready to manage Imperatus’ media image, whenever that becomes an issue. Very little moral scruples. Also acts as Imperatus’ accountant.

Jedi
Image

Name: Matant Rouhea
Race: Echani/Thyrsian (Near-Human)
Appearance:
Standing at 6’2”, Matant’s most visible feature would be the cybernetics about his face, throat, and upper chest which extend to his left shoulder and include his entire right arm. Armor covers most of these areas, articulated wherever necessary to a degree that they don’t hinder Matant too much in the way of inflexibility, which is burnished and blackened to not blind. The man keeps his hair, black, short and neat. He prefers to wear traditional robes, albeit slightly looser than the general norm, as well as a gray cloak. The concession to this would be a pair of semi-armored trousers with interior armor plate inserts and armorweave and a pair of armored boots.
Rank: Knight (Guardian / Weapons Master)
Ideology:
As an Altisian, Matant advocates for the resurgence of Jedi participation in the greater galaxy for the betterment of the people. A Staunch abolitionist, he holds that it is not enough to free slaves but to prosecute slavers wherever they might gather and to bring them to justice. As a result of this, the Knight prefers the interventionist attitudes of the older Jedi Order, though he takes a certain amount of caution in his information-gathering to prevent a repeat of Galidraan. Matant does believe that restraint and discipline is required to be a Jedi as in anything worth doing, but he does not believe this requires a full disregard for human emotions like love, compassion, caring. The man sees the Order’s stances on marriage and relationships in general to be damaging to it’s students, that one should care and have something to defend.
Lightsaber:
Lightsaber, green (top) / Lightsaber, blue (bottom)
When using his lightsabers, Matant reverts to a form of Jar'Kai which deviates significantly from it’s more common implementation. Instead of using one blade to attack and the other kept to defend, he instead uses one blade to disarm or render the other’s weapon ineffective, such as blocking it to the side or above, while simultaneously striking with the other blade in either a thrust or a cut. If the strike is not successful, it merely requires continuous application at high speed to end the combat as rapidly as possible. When fighting against blasters, he switches to a blend of Soresu and Shien, blocking shots as well as redirecting them whenever necessary while closing the distance to strike back effectively.
    Force pike
Utilizing his Force pike when given some time to prepare, the Knight prefers to fight in a traditional Thyrsian style with the pike set on the highest setting for nonlethal work. Using rapid, quick thrusts with interspersed diversionary feints he places an opponent on the defensive, keeping them guessing while slowly whittling them down through repeated impacts.
    San-Ni staff
A last resort, Matant keeps his San-Ni set on the highest possible setting for work in crowd control and bypassing any enemy armor he can’t otherwise penetrate so easily. Often the most favored tactic is a rapid extension and upward flick, snapping the San-Ni forward to it’s maximum length before just as quickly retracting the weapon to it’s normal length. This method practically bathes a large radius about the snap in massive amounts of heat, burning even those not directly hit. For obvious reasons, this tactic and the fact that it is a last resort is not mentioned by Matant.
Force Proficiencies:
Due to his extensive cybernetics, Matant is weaker in the Force than most Knights. He can perform rudimentary methods, such as Push and Pull, though otherwise is incapable of performing actively. The man does possess an innate skill in resisting Force powers such as mind-altering and tricks, and can shield his thoughts with a good degree of success against passing, casual observation by other Jedi.
Backstory and Personal History:
Born on Thyrsus, Matant’s early upbringing can really only be described as martial. While the Sun Guard had long since left their homeworld for the stars, marauding where they might, the planet still had a significant warrior culture. Simulated combat featured heavily in the schools, as both physical exercise and a sport, and it would be at one of these events that Matant would be found by Knight Parani among the crowd, watching in his parent’s lap. His parents accepted that their son would go, be trained by the Jedi, and would in their eyes become a great warrior. They wanted him to have more than they did, to be more, as even then his father could see that the family had the same as his father had, who had the same as his father. And so, Matant went to the Jedi Order as a child to learn the ways of the Force.

He would grow to embrace the hard study, finding it relaxing and calming among a place which seemed full of elders and betters, people who said they were only there to help and to not mind them but which Matant felt were always watching, judging, analyzing. The youngling worked hard to ensure that they would not be disappointed, so concerned was he that he would become just another failure, and that fear grew for a time and an age before it would be halted by one chance encounter. While Matant and the other younglings practiced their meditation, Master Oppo Rancisis and then-Knight Dooku watched him struggle for a time and waited for the session to come to an end. The Master and Knight took aside the youngling, telling him the importance of discipline as a Jedi, as a warrior for peace, telling him that the duty of a Jedi was that of a protector. They told him that they were sure he would succeed, that they saw it in him, and to not doubt himself in his endeavors, pointing to the youngling’s saber practice as proof enough that his study and hard work meant something. They told him that the city was never built in a day. Matant slowly came to understand precisely what they meant, and he came to become confident in his own abilities. When the time came, he was eager to become a Padawan and would be taken by Master Luminara Unduli.

As a Padawan to Master Unduli, Matant Rouhea would become far more of the Jedi that everyone might aspire to be. His own aggressive tendencies would be tempered by the calm Jedi, his lack of balance offset by her insistence in meditation, recitation, study. With her, he helped to defuse several conflicts without igniting a lightsaber once, something which he began to view as victories after a short time. This came to a crashing end when they would go to Galidraan as a part of a task group of Jedi, led by Master Dooku. As a part of the first, main attack, Matant would be injured initially by a flamethrower before being pulled back from the front to be healed. With burns across most of his left face as well as his chest, arms, and abdomen, Master Unduli considered her Padawan to be out of the fight completely. The first aid station some few healers had set up would be attacked by a group of Mandalorians trying to get about the flank of the Jedi, trying to encircle them, and he would be again injured during the defense by a dozen flechettes before they left a handful of grenades as a parting gift.

Matant would be in care for nearly half a year after the event, bacta proving ineffective due to how long it’d been since the first burns, and in the end more traditional medical professionals provided him with an extensive amount of cybernetics. A few more months passed as he recovered, learned how to use his arms and legs again, learned how to come to terms with what he’d become, what he had now, what he’d lost. In that time, Matant’s parents had learned of the battle at Galidraan, learned that many Jedi were present there, and searched through the records and medical information available to them. When they found their son, all which was sent was a Force pike to the recovering man and a letter. They wanted him to be strong, to be the warrior they knew he was. Master Unduli had gone on to take another Padawan, Bariss Offee, and when Matant became well enough to leave the hospital the man went to the Temple. There, then, he requested for the Trials or for a Master, either a chance to prove himself or a chance to continue his training, his path. They sensed resentment in Matant, resentment well-earned, and once again Master Oppo Rancisis lent his wisdom to the now young man. He cautioned against anything approaching a grudge, anything approaching ire, praising him for his progress and saying that by no means was the path closed to him. They allowed Matant to attempt the Trials of Knighthood, a task which was hard by his weakening in the Force, but the man persevered and in the end did make it.

As a Knight, he spent many years within the Temple still, trying to chase what he’d lost and become what he could. Matant practiced endlessly, studied what lore he could find, his time with that same Force pike almost as much as the Lightsaber he’d made. In time, the Knight began to look outside the traditional styles of the Jedi towards the methods of the Echani, of the Thyrsians, and of others. Everyone had a lesson to teach, this was Matant’s doctrine for a time, his guiding wisdom, and as a duelist it was most certainly hard to best him. However, he couldn’t stay in the Temple forever and would leave for the Outer Rim. On the Rim he took up an active role, fighting pirates whenever he might fight them, raiding slavers with a certain enthusiasm. Eventually, the Knight began to acquire a following of Antarian Rangers over the years, men and women who wished to help the people as Jedi did but lacked the power of the Force to do so. They became just as active as him in many ways, most going on to independently target slavers. Those from the Hutt Cartels and the Zygerrian slaver organizations were particularly favorite targets for both Matant and his followers. In time, they would come into possession of an older Invincible-class Dreadnaught as well as a large portion of dissatisfied Corellian Security Force, CorSec, personnel as well as former Espos members of the Security Division from the CSA who had become disillusioned by the corporate methods. The organization eventually came under the name of the System Rangers. Meanwhile Matant rarely visited the Core worlds and never visited Coruscant itself, keeping out on the Rim.

Knight Rouhea worked alongside multiple other Jedi of the same ilk, coming to the call and aiding Master Nico Diath on more than one occasion to free slaves on several worlds and cementing the Hutts’ ire against him. When the Naboo Crisis occurred, Matant would not be involved due to an extended mission near Tatooine. In the end he was only a passing acquaintance to Knight Vane, appreciating her commitment and ideals, though the death was suspicious enough for the Knight to return.
Entourage/Retinue:
Taylia Heping: A Wroonian, Taylia was formerly of the Antarian Rangers before her assignment to Knight Rouhea on a mission targeting a group of Trandoshan slavers near Kashyyyk. During this expedition, she grew extremely close to Matant both professionally and personally and in the end left the Antarian Rangers to be with him personally. In this regard, Taylia acts both as a confidant and as a bodyguard, though her training as a Ranger lends her some skills in intelligence work, hardwiring of vehicles, and linguistics.
Ajis'azosif: Second in command to the System Rangers as a whole, Ajis was once a slave to Chaduh the Hutt. During his time in captivity, he would be tortured for sport, losing both a lekku and some motor functions to one of his legs. Despite this, the man has an inherent talent for logistics, organization, and leadership, taking the role as XO for the System Rangers after an implant restored much of his lost cognitive functions.
Vogua Roulder: Captain of the Stronghold, the Invincible-class Dreadnaught in use by the System Rangers as their home base, Vogua is formerly of the Kuati Sector Forces where he did very little aside from interdict smugglers and the occasional hijacker. As such, the man is more than eager to command a real, honest capital ship not tied down to any singular planet.

With the sinister appearance of his armour would make one believe he belongs to a shadowy class of bounty hunters providing hired muscle for some underworld syndicate. The truth is rather more complicated. While belonging to the Bounty Hunter’s Guild, Artan works for a private military corporation known as MilMax. While the corporation has occasionally had associations with syndicates like the Black Sun, all of their interactions have been completely above board; hunting legitimate bounty targets, body guarding key members during public events, and occasionally assisting police investigations on behalf of a syndicate member in order to help keep up appearances.

MilMax however, prefers working with planetary governments or corporations doing policing or security, advising military forces, combat services and the like. After starting a career as an independent bounty Hunter, Artan signed on with MilMax, preferring the professional environment and the ironclad legal operating status. Insurance covered damages, lawyers protected against litigation, and now Lobbyists to push for a general acceptance of the mercenary trade. With tensions beginning to mount in the Galactic Senate, PMCs like MilMax are beginning to smell opportunity. Selected as the Poster Boy for the private militarization effort, Artan has been sent to coruscant with a small retinue in order to push for expanded legal status and a place in any potential Grand Army of the Republic.

While not MilMax’s flashiest operator, Artan maintains ironclad professionalism with every job he takes. His status as a Near-Human Kiffar tested well with focus groups of both aliens and human-like species, and Kiffar Psychometry is certain to give the mercenary a decisive edge in any investigation that politics in the Galactic Capital may require.

Still a bit of a work-in-progress here, although I wanted to throw it up for any feedback. It's adapted from a character from an earlier RP. I should have made all the necessary changes, but let me know if I missed anything.

Lobbyist
Name: Tiasha Nuvonn
Race: Human
Appearance:
Image

Profession: Lobbyist
Ambitions:
Tiasha’s actions are guided by the practical concerns of those who pay her. While she is officially bankrolled by a number of legitimate Republic businesses, mostly from the Corporate Sector, Tiasha’s primary employer is ultimately the Hutt Cartels. As a lobbyist, she’s learned to keep her own political opinions close to her chest and many would call her cold and apathetic for her actions - but she’d call such people naive. Trying to peel away the layers of conflicting stakeholders and interest groups that govern her actions might be impossible, and even she might not know where her own views end and those of her clients begin.

Tiasha’s office primarily lobbies for increased sovereignty and representation for the Outer and Mid Rims, though she is not outwardly opposed to some centralisation insofar as any changes don’t prove detrimental to her clients’ interests. She is also a vocal proponent for the liberalisation of restrictive regulations, often leading her to cooperate closely with the corporatists - she even holds a seat on a few corporate boards. Tiasha also works behind the scenes in an effort to derail the Republic’s efforts to combat slavery within its borders. As a lucrative trade for both the Hutts and a number of her other clients, its eradication poses a direct threat to their bottom lines - not to mention the peril that a sudden abolition could bring to the already faltering Outer Rim economies.

But despite the more displeasing sides of Tiasha’s activities, there are those in the Republic who see her as the lesser of two evils. While she helps to promote and support criminal enterprises, Tiasha is a moderating influence on the activities of the cartels and other syndicates when it comes to galactic politics. Without individuals like her, the underworld would be far more likely to resort to political violence to achieve their ends.

Equipment: (Guns, ships, tools etc.)
Merr-Sonn ELG-3A Hold-Out Blaster
Personal Datapad
An assortment of privacy-ensuring devices, including a disruption bubble generator and an eavesdrop protection unit

Backstory and personal history:
Born into the upper levels of the galactic centre, Tiasha was destined for a life in the modern royalty of the galaxy’s richest and wealthiest. Her father came from a wealthy and influential family that had originally emerged on Naboo, although he had moved to Coruscant as a result of his business enterprises before being smitten by an up-and-coming senator. Tiasha’s childhood was spent in the upper echelons of Coruscant’s infamously stratified society. A polymath, the young heiress was groomed for success and she displayed a knack for navigating the convoluted intricacies of galactic high society. But much of the family’s wealth had been built in the shadier sides of the galactic economy. In the pursuit of profits and expansion, Tiasha’s father sponsored smugglers and supplied syndicates beneath the Republic’s nose. He funnelled arms and weaponry to both sides of planetary conflicts, while making lucrative investments into the illicit drug trade at the expense of whomever ended up as the final customer. With his wife being able to use her position as a senator to keep any prying eyes from his activities, Tiasha’s father became increasingly ambitious and steadily started to earn himself enemies in the wrong places.

Right when his wife was facing a tight re-election, evidence began to emerge that he had been involved in the assasination of one of his competitors. This was a crime that he actually hadn’t committed, and as careful as he’d been to cover his tracks, there was little he could’ve done to avoid a total fabrication. His efforts to try and dig himself out of his quagmire only made things worse, as his wife’s defeat in the election saw Republic officials start to look more closely into his very real illicit activities. He got a tip off that both he and his wife were close to being arrested and charged with a sham of a trial. Pressed up against the wall with little else to do, the family reached out to one of their contacts in the underworld, packed what they could, and fled the system.

Most of their assets were seized, with their guilt presumed as they failed to show up to court. With little choice, the Nuvonns had hired a smuggler to take them to Hutt Space - a common destination for wanted criminals and dissidents alike trying to escape the authorities’ reach. They arrived on Nar Shaddaa with practically nothing to their name, struggling to survive in the over cramped cities beyond the borders of the civilized galaxy. Leveraging his contacts and connections in the underworld, Tiasha’s father found a role for himself with one of the cartels that he’d worked with in the past, but to say that the family had it easy in their new home would be putting it mildly. The experience also changed Tiasha, hardening her from the fragile heiress that she’d once been. It exposed her to the cruel realities of power in the galaxy, and made her realise that might and manipulation were the ultimate deciders of authority.

Tiasha had to learn quickly how to survive in her new world, but she eventually came to excel at it. She knew when to be silent and discrete, as well as when to make herself stand out and grab the attention of a room. It wasn’t long before her talents caught the eye of one of the local cartels. The Hutt running the criminal syndicate, Yinnam Jijoh, had dealings with her father even before his fall from grace, and the crime lord recognised his daughter’s potential. As well as helping the Nuvonn’s to establish themselves within the local underworld, he deliberately took Tiasha under his wing. His eye for talent hadn’t failed him, and Tiasha proved herself to be a reliable agent for his interests. She would serve as an effective go-between with both legitimate and illicit partners within Republic space.

In the aftermath of the Naboo Crisis, evidence came to light that finally cleared the name of Tiasha’s father. It was revealed that Nute Gunray had orchestrated the false accusation, leading to the Nuvonns’ image in the public eye swiftly shifting to that of the wrongfully treated victims of a madman. Sensing an opportunity as the Republic convulsed internally from the crisis, Jijoh sent Tiasha to serve as a lobbyist on Coruscant. With her family’s old connections, and her father’s rehabilitated reputation, she was seen as the perfect representative for the cartels’ interests.

Having already built up her own network among the business and political interests of the outer rim, Tiasha established herself as a shrewd player in republic politics. Petitioning to regain access to what was left of her family’s frozen wealth, Tiasha combined it with the resources provided to her by the Hutts. She set herself up as a prominent lobbyist for business interests and criminal syndicates seeking to make their voices heard in the democratic process, and her ruthless effectiveness in the pursuit of her clients’ goals has earned her many friends and favours in high places. Now as one of the more well-known and sought after lobbyists on Coruscant, Tiasha’s activities not only serve the Hutt’s interests, but bring in a healthy amount of revenue as well. Alongside her activities on Coruscant, her sharp mind and connections have earned her seats on a number of corporate boards, aligning her interests even more closely with those of some of her closest clients.

Entourage/Retinue:
Ezik’jarif - An enslaved twi’lek owned by the jijoh cartel, Ezik has known Tiasha since she was a young girl on Nar Shaddaa. They grew close over the years, with Ezik making it clear that the young human was firmly under his protection even before he was officially tasked as her bodyguard. On Coruscant, Ezik manages Tiasha’s security detail and loyally serves as her closest confidante.

Rornes Klardas - The head of Tiasha’s legal team, Rornes has built a reputation for himself as a savvy workaholic. He has little moral qualms when choosing his clients, and sees the legal system as a challenge to be bested. For the price of his services, it also goes without saying that he’s very good at his job.

Yinnam Jijoh - Tiasha’s primary employer and the head of a powerful Hutt family based on Nar Shaddaa, Yinnam has spent centuries pulling strings within the galactic underworld. He has taken a liking to Tiasha, and entrusts her with a good deal of autonomy in exchange for the results she provides. Located back in Hutt space, he schemes and plots against his fellow Hutts for power within the Council, all while offering them the use of his favourite agent’s services should they need to make inroads into the Republic.

Jedi
Name: Senok
Race: Transdoshan
Appearance: Never wears the robes, always wears common clothes

Rank: Padawan(Sentinel)

Ideology: Like his Master, he follows Vane's ideology in that the Council is too inactive and that he should have his feelings. However he believes that the Movement has traces of the Dark Side as he sees the pure passion of his fellow Padawans and even some Knights that are uncontrolled. He believes that this has happened before and has wish to speak about it and investigate it within the Archives. He still harbors the idea that this needs to be investigate and be helpful that he and his Master don't fall to the Dark Side as well.

Lightsaber: He wields a yellow lightsaber.

Force Proficiencies: (Does your Jedi have an iconic usage of the force? Force ‘pulling’ and force ‘pushing’ are iconic light-side powers, but the lightside is famed for its healers, passive ‘buffers’ and acts of valour.)

Backstory and personal history:

Entourage/Retinue: (Jedi are seldom lone wanderers; and often have in their service an employ of companions and friends who provide expertise and skills that the Jedi themselves may find lacking)

This account must be deleted. The person behind it is a racist, annoying waste of life that must be shunned back to whatever rock he crawled out from.

How much RP experience is needed to participate in this?
Voluisse Illudere (Intrigue in court)
Audax Veni (Galactic Adventures)
Hector Driscoll (Model Hogwarts(Hosted on Discord))
Lachriman Federation (The Last Stars)
Hermes R&D (SPACE)
Edward Dale (College Greymore)
Ceres Federation (Remnants of Sol)
Zik’ky’ken (Twilight of the Republic)
Edward Dale 2.0 (College Greymore reboot)
Scriniarii (Pantheon: New Creation)
Republic of Nordwood (A Different World: Age of Darkness)

My participation in most RPs tends to be short-lived, so I have less experience than the number of them listed would otherwise indicate.

The OPs haven't specified one way or the other I don't think. Quality of posting is probably more important than experience though! If you're interested, could be worth popping onto the Discord or just banging together an app and seeing how it's received? At the very least the character creation process could be good practice.

Lobbyist
Name: Mak Plain
Race: Muun
Appearance:
Image

Profession: InterGalactic Banking Clan - Galactic Republic Liaison
Ambitions:

Mak Plain is responsible for managing and enlarging the credit of the Republic, for which he is duly compensated. In this regard, he differs from the rest of the banking clan in that he supports centralization of the Republic, increasing taxes, and most importantly a centralized military force funded with debt. He is also deeply concerned by any faction in the Republic which supports the creation of a centralized bank which could issue treasury notes directly to the public rather than depending on private credit sources. He publicly supports the Judicials and sits on the Judgeman's Ball board, a charity organization which funds a ball to recognize non-Jedi law enforcement.

Equipment: N/A
Backstory and personal history:

Mak Plain is a Muun born in 942 RE (58 BBY) in the Bandomeer System to Jerund and Gal Plain. His father, Jerund was in the Scipian diplomatic service, so Mak was raised alternately on Scipio and Coruscant. His father was a Scipian independence advocate who opposed the extreme influence that the Banking Clan exercised over planetary government, largely from their headquarters in the Obtrexta sector. When he came of age, Mak went to school on Scipio and pursued a degree in economics, joining the IGBC immediately after graduation. His father aided him by getting him a position as a credit analyst on Coruscant so they could continue to live together as a family. Mak later discovered that his father had been advocating for regulations on the IGBC that would prevent them from running the Scipian government, which sparked a conflict in the family. Eventually, Mak opted to report his father's activities to the IGBC, which immediately revoked his credit access and forced him to return to Scipio destitute. Mak was rewarded with a promotion to the Galactic Republic Liaison at the age of 30 in 972 RE (28 BBY), a position that he still holds.

One the issues that Mak immediately faced was that his predecessors had funded several large good-will payments to Kamino, which had not been approved by the Republic. He believes that this was the actual reason that the Galactic Republic Liaison position had such a high turnover and why the Banking Clan was so anxious to appoint an unexperienced officer to the position. One of his goals is to legitimize the debts with the Republic before the notes become due. He has worked to launder interest payments through his charity work, notably with the Judicials, but this is a short term solution.

Entourage/Retinue: 4-5 office staff members, 1 Muun Officer Corps guard
