MOREAU WARNS NATIONS ABOUT INTERVENING IN ALECBURGH

Image
The President's warning comes as Yuan and Cyruda send forces to reinforce Alecburgh government

TOFINO - President Atticus Moreau issued his most stern statement to date over the impending military operations by the Alecburgh government and Prime Minister Sparrow Creed, warning international governments to not intervene in what he called a "dangerous escalation without regard for diplomacy." Specifically calling out the governments of De Yuan and Cyruda, President Moreau called on the international community to hold all sides accountable.

Moreau called on President Xi Jingyi of Yuan to remove his naval forces from the region, citing numerous incidents involving Yuaneze navies expressing territorial claims over neutral international waters, which already seems to be occuring. On Wednesday, a Yuaneze naval destroyer patrolling near Alecburgh fired warning shots at a Quetanan cargo vessel. The uptick in foreign intervention is alarming many officials at both the Department of Defense and the Department of State, with even the government of Drambenburg establishing themselves on the side of the self-declared Republic of Cambria.

"Yuaneze forces must stand down if they wish to avoid severe reprecussions," Moreau said. "The entirity of WEDA stands prepared to instate crippling sanctions, the likes of which have not been placed on Yuan in decades, should their military be involved in any combat operations in South Adula."

The recent involvement is largely stemming from a violent attack committed by Cambria-affiliated extremists this last week that claimed the lives of nearly 60 people, including many international tourists. Zamastan's government officially condemned the attack, calling it "attrocious and agregious, and if perpetrated directly by the Cambrian government, a backstep for their soveriengty."

"Of course we must condemn the horrific actions of the self-declared government of Cambria," President Moreau said in a response to a question posed surrounding the attacks, "and we do. Dozens have died under their violent hand, and we must strongly rebute them and their ideology. However, Prime Minister Creed has been insufficient in her resolve. If she wants change, she must start with open dialogue, and there has been none. She'll turn to us and play victim every time, as if we don't know suffering. We know suffering. We witness it often. The difference is we solve our issues nearly every time with open diplomacy and dialogue. Creed is at blame here, and she is ignorant to avoid a diplomatic path that so many other governments have urged. Whatever violence comes to her people, remember, is because she and all of her predecessors refused to open negotiation."

The self-declared Republic of Cambria, which announced their secession after Prime Minister Sparrow Creed was elected, has launched an intensive campaign of anti-Alecburghian government rhetoric. Their own declared Prime Minister, Jacque Boudreaux, is seen by many in the international community as an instigator.

However, Zamastanian foreign policy has increasingly been directed against the interests of the Alecburghian government. Their leaders, namely former-Prime Minister Benjamin Warren, Queen Diana of Kynnport, and now Prime Minister Creed have all been labeled as "unstable leaders" by moderators in the State Department. Repeated incidents of violence sparking up and civil conflict increasing due to their conduct has caused the State Department to time and time again label Alecburgh as a "failing state", and "authoritarian regime", and a "threat to the regional apparatus".

"We watch Alecburgh's volatile leadership closely at all times," said Secretary of State Jessiah Vallotis. "We're gravely worried about the impending sign of a civil war over the state of Luciano. Our direct motive is to protect the interests of our regional allies who may be placed in harm's way, such as Saint Croix and Bens and the Qolaysians. That is why we dispatched a contingent of troops to S.C.B. as a protective measure. Additionally, we are solely in the position of protecting our regional interests. Zamastanians in Alecburgh are being advised to return home or to other friendly nations. If a conflict breaks out over Luciano, we will not be able to ensure safety of Zamastanians in the region since a military response is the last option on the table for us."

Zamastanian forces in the region, operating in defense of Saint Croix and Bens, consist of 400 soldiers and 3 naval vessels. All are operating outside of Alecburghian territory and have vowed to remain under S.C.B. operational statute, which defines the operations as protectorate over S.C.B.. They are supported by an Albarinean and Emmirian contingent.

Will raising Zamastan's capital gains tax help tackle inequality?

Image
Speaker of the Chamber Natasha Chastain hopes that lifting rates for top earners will raise beaucoup bucks for the New Families Plan.

TOFINO - The near-doubling of the capital gains tax on wealthy Zamastanians is a centerpiece of Speaker of the Chamber Natasha Chastain’s Z$1.1 trillion New Families Plan. In an address to Congressional Hall on Wednesday evening , Chastain described the proposal as “fiscally responsible” and added that the wealthiest Zamastanians will “pay their fair share”.

The difference between taxes on income, which is how most Zamastanians make their money, and capital gains — how many wealthy people grow their personal fortunes — has long been lambasted by critics as a driver of inequality.

But will raising the capital gains tax narrow the divide between the nation’s haves and have-nots? First things first. What exactly is a ‘capital gain’? It’s basically the profit someone makes on an investment after selling it. Think stocks, bonds, precious metals, jewellery and cryptocurrencies as well as houses and other real estate.

So what’s a capital gains tax? It’s the amount of money investors must pay to the government on the profit they make when they sell an asset. The profit is determined by how much it cost them to buy and how much they sold it for.

So how does the current tax system worsen inequality? At present, wealthier Zamastanians make a disproportionate share of their income from profits made by cashing in equities and other investments. For assets owned for a year or more, the capital gains tax can range from 0 percent to a top base rate of 20 percent, depending on filing status and other taxable income. Meanwhile, income tax rates range from 10 percent to a top rate of 37 percent.

At the federal level, Chastain and Congressional Liberals want to raise the long-term capital gains tax rate for households that make more than Z$1m in income annually to 39.6 percent – nearly double the current top base rate. According to the Tofino Times, Chastain’s proposed capital gains tax hike could actually decrease revenues by Z$33bn over the next ten years. That’s because people can use all sorts of strategies to lower their capital gains tax bills. Like investing in tax-sheltered investments, putting off the sale of assets until a more investor-friendly tax regime is in place, or only cashing in some investments in years that money has been lost on others.

According to Chastain's speech on Wednesday: “We’re only going to affect three-tenths of one percent of all Zamastanians by that action. Three-tenths of one percent.” The New Families Plan plan includes Z$1 trillion in new benefits spending over 10 years on childcare, education and paid leave, plus Z$300bn in extended tax credits.

Some economists argue that hiking the capital gains tax would deal a blow to entrepreneurial finance because it would penalise investors. As soon as investors caught wind of Chastain's proposed capital gains tax hike, stock prices took a hit. Chastain counters that the economic proposals will “reward work, not just wealth”.

The Moreau administration, along with partners in Congressional Hall, is set to provide Congress with more details in May about spending and taxation provisions in its formal budget. The New Families Plan could be included in a reconciliation bill that does not require bipartisan support in either the Chamber or Senate. However, moderate liberals will face pressure from conservatives as the relevant congressional committees draft the new legislation. Analysts say the final bill may not reach the President's Office until late summer or early fall.

Companies Prepare to Invest In West Chanchajilla Reconstruction

Image
More than 40 companies have pledged to invest in West Chanchajillan reconstruction and revitalization processes following the end of combat operations

IVORA - A month after the capital city of Ivora fell and Frederick Armbar was forcibly removed from power, the influence of international investment is starting to become clear in West Chanchajilla. Several Zamastanian companies, such as ZeeMart, Pegassi, ZSuites and Forrester, Circa, and the Gorian Institution, have pledged to invest in reconstruction programs in West Chanchajilla as the regime's control diminishes and the flow of capitalism already begins to effect the national identity of a severely oppressed and repressed people.

Once security and political balance are more well established in West Chanchajilla in the coming months, Zamastanian companies are set to invest nearly Z$600 million total in the revitalization of the region, which will help spur business growth and consolidation over fractured industries that were once shut out and nationalized by the Armbar regime. Eventually, these numbers will exceed Z$4 billion.

"It's starting to turn … and the people who are getting in on the ground floor are not selfish," said Paul Venesa, the state official who is leading Zamastanian efforts to help West Chanchajilla rebuild its economy. "It's ironic, but certainly not unwelcome."

East Chanchajillan and Parabocan companies are also pledging major amounts into the reconstruction of West Chanchajilla, while other international partners (such as Emmiria and Quetana) are doing the same.

So far, Gladysynthian consortium and a Caspiaan company have signed revenue-sharing deals with West Chanchajillan state-owned cement factories. Each group will invest about Z$150 million. Drambenburg has also aggressively pursued the West Chanchajillan market, selling machinery to the government and electronic products to consumers.

GUTAAI PRESS ASSOCIATE

CERFBEER CONDEMNS CREED AND DIANA, BACKS MOREAU AND WEDA
Cerfbeer Offered His First Insights into the Crisis in Alecburgh

Image

Chancellor Matthias Cerfbeer weighed in on the ongoing crisis in Alecburgh during a press conference, backing President Atticus Moreau of Zamastan, WEDA, and other regional players while condemning Prime Minister Sparrow Creed and Queen Diana of Alecburgh. Recently sitting off to the side in the increasing tensions in the South Adula region, Cerfbeer finally broke his silence and announced Jyau foreign ministry policy.

According to Cerfbeer, he has ordered Jyauese companies to halt all trade and business with Alecburgh. The impending trade freeze won't damage much in the terms of economic income, since Jyau does not trade extensively with Alecburgh, but it does send a message of no-nonsense.

The Foreign Ministry of Jyau has also announced that all travel to and from Alecburgh is being suspended, and the ambassador to Alecburgh has been recalled. Diplomatic relations between the two nations has ceased.

Cerfbeer, known for his bluntness, called out both Prime Minister Sparrow Creed and Queen Diana of Alecburgh, saying the following:

"First off, Prime Minister Creed is the biggest hypocrite I've seen on the international stage in a long time. It's an internal conflict within her own country which has resulted in death and destruction. She blames the conduct on international leaders, like Moreau, who criticized her handling. How blanketly stupid does one have to be to not understand that. Help your people, pay no mind to what others think of you. And if you truly are hurt and bothered enough to make President Moreau's statements the highlight of your response to 60 people being slaughtered, then rethink your approach.

Secondly, you did not resort diplomacy. You sent a weak telegram communique to which you revealed the contents to the world. Of course the horrendous actors in Cambria would not respond to such leverage, you empowered them to act on their terms, not yours. You resort to military action and intervention much faster than anyone else would. Look at how conflicts have been avoided by responsible diplomacy time and time again - Zalluabed in Hisrea. Qolaysia and Togaria. The continuing ceasefire in Syraranto. Diplomacy works. You must be thick to avoid international help in diplomacy. Don't you have allies? You clearly do, bringing in international reinforcements from De Yuan and Cyruda.

Which brings me to my third point. Zamastan is not intervening in Alecburgh; they are defending an ally of theirs, Saint Croix and Bens, whom has been threatened time and time again by the military and rash leaders of Alecburgh. Why call them out for helping maintain peace in the region which has repeatedly been threatened by your country. You can't expect a new leaf to be turned when you continue to resort to your predecessors actions. You claim you aren't, but you are. It's pathetic.

The final thing I have to say is this: resign, Prime Minister Creed. You are a disgrace to your nation, a disgrace to your people, a disgrace to the world."

Cerfbeer did not conclude his harsh condemnations there; he continued by targeting Queen Diana of Kynnport.

"Her majesty Queen Diana is perhaps the most aloof member of the Alecburgh political structure I have ever seen. Put aside my thoughts of her tyranny and corruptness and lust for power demonstrated by the killing of protestors, and let me simply address her comments made today.

She takes full responsibility for the crisis at hand, while still addressing the long history of separatist sentiments in Cambria. She clearly has no rationality nor awareness of a situation that precedes her should she truly believe they are her fault. To paint herself as a scapegoat is not noble, it's not heroic, it's not brave, it's stupid. Acknowledge the long history of oppression and systematic absolution that led to these sentiments boiling over into violence, do not act like your nation is not at fault. You have ruined your nation."

Former Prime Minister Kurt Stöger passed away

Laitstadt - Kurt Stöger (former Prime Minister from 1991 to 1992) passed away on the evening of May 1, 2021 at the age of 87 as a result of a horrible fall on the stairs in his house, in which he suffered several serious injuries. He died when he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Kurt Stöger was born on July 17, 1933 in Laitstadt as the youngest and third child of Gerhard Stöger (1885-1970) and Ruth Butz (1890-1983). His older siblings were Klaudia Stöger (1925-2010), who worked as a teacher, and Dieter Stöger (1930-1994), who died in a car accident in 1994.

After graduating from school in 1951, he did his military service in the Besmenian Federal Army from 1951 to 1952. Stöger then studied law and business informatics at the Heinz Dimmler University in Laitstadt between 1952 and 1957. In 1953 he joined the Free Besmenian Citizen's Party. He pursued his initial political activities alongside his studies. After completing his studies, Stöger worked in a law firm. From the 1960s he concentrated more on his political activities. In 1965 he became chairman of the FBBP district association in Laitstadt-Wahlwinkel. In 1966 he met his future wife Alisa Schröder. Both married in 1969. In 1972 their daughter Linda Stöger was born.

In 1968 Kurt Stöger was elected to the Federal Chamber as a member of parliament for Laitstadt-Wahlwinkel. In 1974 he met Martin Beiter (also a member of parliament at the time) for the first time. Both got on well and were becoming friends.

After the FBBP with top candidate Martin Beiter became the party with the strongest vote in the 1980 federal election, Beiter proposed Stöger as Federal Minister for Post and Telecommunications. He was then sworn in by President Tom Freiberger. During this time, Stöger was considered one of Martin Beiter's closest confidants. In 1984 Stöger became Federal Minister for Foreign Relations. During his time as Foreign Minister he often visited the then Zamastanian President Cassious Castovia, with whom he was able to establish a consistently trusting relationship.

After the assassination of Martin Beiter and his death on February 5, 1991, Stöger was elected on February 15 with 437 votes in favor of the Federal Chamber to succeed Martin Beiter as the tenth Prime Minister of the Federal Republic. During his time as Prime Minister, he continued Beiter's policy . After consultation with the President Otto Schulz, Schulz proclaimed the Martin Beiter Memorial Day on July 4, 1991 and it was set for the 5th February . The memorial day was first observed in 1992. For the 1992 federal election and the 1996 federal election, Stöger was the top candidate of the FBBP, but was defeated by the BVP under Erik Tautenbach in both elections. Stöger was Prime Minister for a total of 19 months from February 15, 1991 to September 21, 1992. To this day, he has the shortest term of office as the Besmenian Prime Minister ever. After the end of his time as Prime Minister, Stöger continued to work as a member of the Federal Chamber.

In the 2004-2008 legislative period of the Federal Chamber, Stöger was the oldest MP at the age of 71 and was therefore appointed Father of the House. After the end of this legislative period, he announced that he did not intend to run for any further Federal Chamber mandate and plan to retire. During his retirement, Stöger still appeared frequently as a speaker at political events.

In 2013 Stöger released an autobiography entitled "Ministerpräsident für 19 Monate" (Prime Minister for 19 months). In December 2015 he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. In June 2016, Stöger announced that his stomach cancer treatment had been successfully completed and that he was on the mend.

His death caused grief for his family, former colleagues in the government cabinet and the FBBP. A state funeral is planned for May 23.

RIP Kurt Stöger (1933-2021)

PRESIDENT KENNARD MEETS WITH CHANCELLOR HERZOG AMID ESCALATING SOUTH ADULA TENSIONS

Image

LERBIN - President Abiel Kennard visited Lerbin, Drambenburg, and attended a state summit with Chancellor Walde Herzog. The two leaders discussed a variety of topics ranging from the recent joint military drills between Qolaysia and Drambenburg, months of protests against Kennard's presidency, the Zalluabed war crimes in Hisrea province, and most pressing the escalating tensions in Southern Adula.

The Drambenburg navy and the Qolaysian navy held joint drills last week as escalating tensions plagued Southern Adula. The Alecburgh military, with the help of De Yuan and Cyruda, is preparing major offenses against the self-declared Republic of Cambria. While Qolaysia's government has not supported either side, Drambenburg has backed the sovereignty of Cambria's independence. President Kennard has stated that he support's Alecburgh's right to use force against terrorists, but does not support the lack of diplomatic exercise.

Chancellor Herzog also displayed dismay towards Kennard over his general acceptance of Zalluabedi President al-Akhtar's use of military force in Hisrea, which many in the international community called a genocide. Kennard retracted his support upon revelations of footage that showed war crimes taking place, which are currently being reviewed in international court. There are likely to be international crimes against humanity charges placed against Zalluabed's government and military in regards to the Hisrea massacres. Chancellor Herzog, who heads the TTPA, warned al-Akhtar to pull his forces out of Hisrea.

The conference between Kennard and Herzog marks the first time Kennard has visited Drambenburg, and marks an important point in his presidency as he continues to try and legitimize his administration against increasing protests.

Violence in Alicent!
Image

ImageSHARE THIS: Image Image Image Image

Birat News Network (
@BNN)
May 3rd, 2021 | Alicent, Birat

It has been several days of siege since the Alicent City Administrative Plaza was captured by rioters last month on the 27th. Police forces and the 1st Battalion of the Birat National Army have been maintaining a tight zone enveloping the plaza, preventing the rioters from escaping or fighting their way out. President Meidan has given assurances to the citizens of Alicent, stating that 'Though force must be employed on your brothers and sisters, that does not spell the same fate for you.', which aggravated the already-tense situation within the city,

This morning, Western Birat's most prominent paramilitary force, the People's Democratic Army (PDA) made a strategic move politically to de-legitimize the BNP's regime and appeal to foreign states for support against the BNP. PDA Forces entered into Alicent in the early morning and captured police stations, government administrative buildings, and the Alicent City Mall, along with the Alicent International Airport (AIAX) located several miles outside the city. Most locations were given up without a fight, but the Golan Heights Police Station, the makeshift station located in a city district near the border with East Chanchajilla, resisted. Shots were fired as a result, and the ensuing firefight killed seventeen police officers and four PDA fighters, while the remaining officers were captured.

Shortly after the takeover, BNP forces changed their tactics, as they were now split between the Plaza and the rest of Birat. They began to fire RPGs and machine guns at the central tower in the Plaza, and soon it was set ablaze. The BNP forces and the remaining policemen in the area used the chaos to fight their way out of the city, killing a further twenty PDA fighters and losing over a half of their group, an estimated eighty federal servicemen. Following their departure the rioters in the plaza were rescued and treated well by the PDA, largely winning the support of the city.
The PDA's political representative, one Kuruk Osmani, made an official statement on the matter following the seizure of Alicent during a press conference with his party, Democracy First (DF).

"Many nations have suffered through what we do now, such as the people of West Chanchajilla. My fellow countrymen serving in the BNP were formerly another political party that we all once respected to the degree respect can carry in this nation, but that respect was betrayed when the BNP took power in the 2019 Coup. They have shown their colors as an oppressive regime centered only on the consolidation of their own power and not on the welfare of the people they rule over. Foreign powers such as Zamastan have toppled regimes such as his, and its come a time when though our nationalistic pride is great we must rely on those abroad to rescue us. The PDA may be powerful, that is true, but the BNP is too, and no true and stable state can be built from the ruins of a ceaseless war."

This statement was met with skepticism from BNP-controlled towns nearby such as Morbray and Severen, but the overall message was widely praised and accepted by those supporting the PDA as a moderate and compromising stance to the current political situation of Birat, met with war from within and surrounded by nations friendly with Zamastan. Many people know that though Birat's historical foreign policy has been prideful and met with reluctance, Birat must hop on the train of countries reliant on Zamastan to weather the incoming storm, and finally stabilize.

End of the Sidemann III cabinet by a vote of no confidence

Image

Vincent von Schilling and Richard Benkel in the Heraldstein Palace talking about the formation of the transitional government.

Laitstadt -The situation surrounding the scandal of the sound recordings by Frank Hille, which has been known for some time as the "Hille Affair", had worsened in the last week and led to a government crisis. Prime Minister Theodor Sidemann was under criticism. He was accused of how he could form a government with someone like Frank Hille as Vice Prime Minister. Even before his time as party chairman of the FBBP, Frank Hille caused criticism because of political opinions and differences. His election as FBBP party chairman and Sidemann's proposal to appoint him Vice Prime Minister came under criticism in 2016.

Sidemann originally planned to continue the government with the FBBP, but without Hille and Jörg Tacker. On April 30, the FBBP politicians and members of the government Hans Wehrtau (Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs), Sabine von Weiß (Federal Minister of Culture and Sport), Laura Bowack (Federal Minister of Economy and Technology development) and Hans-Peter Göhring ( Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture) surprisingly announced her resignation with immediate effect. As a result, the FBBP had practically left the government, and the government cabinet now consisted of a minority government with BVP and the GPB. The four ministerial posts were then taken over by BVP politicians. On May 3, the PBL parliamentary group tabled a motion of no confidence against the goverment cabinet, where the majority of around 396 MPs voted in favor, meaning that parliament had renounced the confidence of the Sidemann III cabinet. President von Schilling commissioned the President of the Federal Constitutional Court Richard Benkel with the formation of a transitional government and announced new elections for August 22, 2021. The Sidemann III cabinet remains in office until the transitional government is formed.

CRUISE SHIP SINKS OFF SAINT OFFEAT COAST - DOZENS PRESUMMED DEAD

Prime Minister Lynne Bushore has introduced a new parliamentary investigation into the sinking of a Relic Star Cruise Liner, the SOCS Myrian Rock, in the Northern Olympic Ocean this morning. The ship relayed a mayday signal shortly past midnight after reporting a swell of water filling lower compartments. The 1,220 people on board were hustled into lifeboats and gained safe distance from the sinking vessel, but there are at least 6 confirmed deaths and dozens more who are missing. The Myrian Rock sank in shallow water, and dive crews are already working recovery efforts.

"Today is a tragic and sad day for the people of Saint Offeat," PM Bushore said in a statement following the introduction of the investigation. "The Myrian Rock's passengers consisted of everyday people from all over our nation and around the world. We will get to the bottom of this horrific incident."

At least one of the passengers who is marked as missing aboard the vessel was international, being a native of Kyti. Other governments are investigating and cooperating to see whether any of their nationals were lost when the ship sank.

It is believed at this time that earlier repairs to the waste disposal system had not been completed, which meant that a vital ventilation pipe which ran through the watertight aft bulkhead and the non-return valves was not replaced. It is believed that after a series of freak waves slammed against the ship, the pipe's shell plating burst open and began filling the compartment with seawater.

The distress call went out at 12:34 am, and ships in the area assisted in the effort to rescue the thousands of passengers from the vessel. The ship listed and the bow of the ship eventually sank at 6:22 am. The wreck lies at a depth of between 92 m (302 ft) and 97 m (318 ft), about 5 km (3.1 mi) offshore. As of this morning, the ship is resting on the ocean floor with the stern submerged at a higher elevation than the bow.

PM Leitner Visits Emmiria - Prime Minister Gabriel Leitner's First Meeting with President Sulaiman in Rhaga

Rhaga - Prime Minister Gabriel Leitner visited Rhaga, Emmiria, and met with President Akram Sulaiman. This was PM Leitner's first ever visit to Emmiria and only his third ever to Adula. The two leaders discussed increased trade deals, lucrative economic cooperation between major airliners like Air Emmiria and ShoassauSky, and cultural exchange programs.

The two also talked about the ongoing effort to pass tighter gun restriction legislation in Shoassau over a month after the Auvergne massacre that killed 16 people. Leitner pressed the Parliament of Shoassau in early April to quickly implement stricter gun restriction legislation following the mass shooting in Auvergne. While early indications from the MPs in Parliament pointed to overwhelming consensus on gun legislation, debate has stalled legislative efforts.

Leitner and Sulaiman visited the Grand Mosque in Rhaga as part of a heritage and culture visit, and the two will visit ancient sites in Hazarabad tomorrow. Sulaiman has also accepted an invitation to visit Shoassau next month as part of the exchange of cultural experience.

The President has voiced her support for the PDA and given the BNP an ultimatum that they step down and allow the democratic process to take place in Birat. The Birati National Party seized power from the democratically elected government following some economic struggles. The BNP has since installed an oppressive government that has eliminated political opponents and curved economic struggles by enforcing harsh requirements amongst the populations. The People Democratic Army has recently taken a stance against the BNP and has openly resisted its rule. The PDA has taken control of Alicent as the BNP has ordered its troops to eliminate the PDA.

The current situation in Birat is grim as forces in Alicent as just recently a crucial PDA SAM site was was destroyed by the BNAF. The strike killed 8 PDA operators and a number of civilians were injured in the attack. The PDA forces are currently surrounded and thinned throughout Birat. The Timerian forces being deployed to Estoca will be in a position to strike targets across Birat and enforce a no-fly zone throughout the country. Since the approval of Timerian forces in Estoca, the BNP has increased its efforts in eliminating the PDA.

Timerian aircraft will be based at South Point Airbase in Estoca well within range to strike Birat. The forces will provide air support for PDA forces and supply them with weapons to combat the BNP. The Air Force has also approved humanitarian aid drops once air supremacy is achieved. The overall goal of this mission is to eliminate the BNP’s ability to wage war and supply the PDA with the tools to establish control across Birat.

Following the PDA’s victory, additional resources will be dedicated to getting humanitarian aid to Birat and rebuilding critical infrastructure. The Timerian air units will also return home and the humanitarian mission will be transferred to the Department of State. President Raso has made it clear that once the BNP is defeated Birat’s security will be the responsibility of the Birati people.

PARAMILITARY FORCES SEIZE VAGORNO HIGHWAY

Image
PDA forces set up roadblocks and patrols along Vagorno Highway (V-15) following federal plans leak

BNN - A few days ago, the People's Democratic Army, a paramilitary force with significant influence in Alicent, intervened into the chaos striking the city following the 2019 coup and President Meidan's rise to power through force. Militants entered into the city early in the morning and quickly gained control of a large portion of the city after the majority of police stations and officers willingly defected to the PDA. They then set up positions around those that didn't and quickly assaulted the central administrative building, which had been under siege by police forces and federal forces for several days. A total of 121 men, most of them federal servicemen, died in the seizure of the city.

Since the seizure of the city, PDA forces have been sitting in a tense standoff with the armed forces, with all routes exiting Alicent closed off by federal forces, and a no-fly zone instated above the city and the surrounding region by the air force. Very few engagements have occurred between federal and rebel forces, but yesterday in the early afternoon, two federal jets conducted a devastating airstrike on a PDA anti-air position, destroying the paramilitary force's only SAM equipment and killing ten servicemen. This was quickly followed by the first major engagement to happen in the crisis, with PDA forces assaulting the Seberoy Rail Line, the only railway into the region, and blowing the tracks to prevent usage after seizing over half a million dollars worth of ammunition and explosives from a military cargo train heading toward government positions.

Today, the V-15 was also targeted by rebel forces after rebel officers discovered plans detailing the federal forces' plan to use the roadway to transport over two thousand soldiers and forty-five armored vehicles into the region to prepare a major assault on the city. The highway was quickly seized by the PDA's best-armed and best-trained forces, and the seizure resulted in a further four dead federal servicemen and six APCs being captured and driven into the PDA's urban headquarters in Alicent.

President Meidan declared to the press following the attack that the People's Democratic Army is now recognized as an insurgent force that must be dealt with using the full force of the Armed Forces, and following his statement, the Birati Armed Forces mobilized over four thousand men and two armored battalions, all of which were deployed near the fighting at Alicent.

Humanitarian Shipments from Timeria arrive at Alicent International Airport

Image
Several cargo jets of food, water, blankets, and other supplies arrived in the PDA-controlled AIXX today after the seizure of V-15

BNN - The People's Democratic Army has seen tense standoffs and hundreds dead as the Alicent Crisis continues to boil, but the population of Alicent and the surrounding province continue to support their rebellion, despite the major damage being done. Reports show that in just the past few days, starvation has begun to rip through the countryside, followed quickly by the rapid downfall of value associated with the Birati Gelding. Many politicians in the current ruling party of Birat continue to latch onto this fact, accusing the PDA of neglecting the civilian populous and abusing civilian storage facilities and banks to fund and supply their campaign.

These accusations have lost traction fast, however, as several flights from Timeria arrived at the AIXX today carrying over two million dollars worth of supplies such as food, water, medical supplies, and clothing. These supplies were unloaded from the shipments and brought to PDA positions within the city and countryside, where handouts began. This has been met with praises from both the civilians of the region and the domestic companies trapped within PDA territories, as supplies were funneled to aid stations to be given to the populous first, and as today's handouts were closed for the night to avoid nighttime raids by federal forces, this policy has held true.

YUAN COMPANY COMPLETES WORK ON JANAPA PORT

De Yuan company completes construction of Janapa port

Janapa - A Yuaneze company has cmpleted construction on one of the largest container ports in the world in Janapa. Several Zamastanian military experts say that the activities of Vana Ampoa Limited, a Shanghan-based conglomerate, pose a significant risk to Zamastan national security. Those claims are countered by Yuaneze officials who maintain that the port's use is merely economic and will benefit Zamastanian economic growth in the region alongside Yuan and Janapa, as well as the international shipping industry as a whole.

The Yuaneze government has a keen interest in the company's activities.

The container port is simply a "dedicated deep water trans-shipment hub," according to the port manager. Large container ships coming from several directions can off-load their container boxes, which can be re-routed on to other large or small container ships for delivery. The port operates, he says, much like Janapa International Airport might serve as a "hub" for travelers going to destinations around the globe.

Already the port is doing a brisk business in container shipments, the manager said, and has the capacity to become the world's largest container port. He said the company also plans to make the port the world's largest cruise ship destination port. Already, international cruise lines will soon make Janapa a port of call.

The company has ambitious plans to create the largest air cargo facility on land adjacent to the port. Vana Ampoa has a 50 percent stake in the Grand Janapa Airport Company, which owns one of the largest airport runways in the world - more than 11,000 feet long. According to the manager, the runway is capable of handling the world's largest cargo and military aircraft.

On 800 acres of wooded land adjacent to the airport, Vana Ampoa plans to create the Grand Janapa Sea-Air Business Center - a center that could potentially allow for 8 million square feet in warehouse space.

VILANJA SENTINEL
GOVERNMENT ISSUES STERN WARNING FOLLOWING BIRAT UNREST
President Boer warns against Estoca and Timeria buildup following Birat unrest

VILANJA - East Chanchajillan military officials have warned against increased violence in the nation of Birat, warning that any overflow of violence into either East Chanchajilla or neighboring Avergnon would be met with stern repercussions. Additionally, President Boer is strongly condemning Estoca military buildup and North Timerian intervention, as thousands of troops mobilize and Timerian air force fighters arrive in Estoca.

Image
East Chanchajillan President Gideon Boer warns against Estocan and Timerian buildup after Birat tensions

Following the conclusion of combat operations in West Chanchajilla, Ivora's ultimate surrender and the death of Frederick Armbar in a multi-national operation, East Chanchajillan and Parabocan troops established operations to start mopping up resistance from Armbar regime loyalists in West Chanchajilla.

There was a perception of resistance and rebel fighters being the main security threat to East Chanchajilla for the coming months and years, but now East Chanchajillan government officials believe that Estocan government's rampant escalation in rhetoric, along with Timeria's deployment to a nation fraught with aggressive and arrogant historical aggression towards the East and it's allies (like Paraboca, Zamastan, Avergnon, and others), is now the newest national security threat.

President Boer has stated that the tensions and unrest in Birat is being perpetuated by foreign intervention, and the best thing to do is let the situation unfold as it occurs. "We cannot be the tenders and manipulators of fate," Boer stated, "and Birat is folding into theirs. Estoca and Timeria should stand down - what happens in Birat happens in Birat and affects the nations around it. East Chanchajilla and Avergnon have the most at stake, not Estoca. We urge that Estoca and Timeria stand down, because their intervention will throw chaos into an already chaotic situation."

Boer went on to state that should Estoca and Timeria try to intervene in Birat, it should be noted that they would be travelling through Avergnonian or East Chanchajillan territory, which essentially constitutes an international breach of territory and an illegal military movement through sovereign lands.

"Basic geography and political compassing," Boer stated, "they have to be stupid to not recognize that. The Coalition of Crown Albatross must ensure no encroachments to our territory is made, and the Chanchajillan government will ensure that we will never give permission to the Estocans to send military in any form through ours."

WEST CHANCHAJILLA ELECTIONS TO BE HELD IN AUGUST, SAYS COALITION

Image
An internationally established moderating force, helmed by Zamastan, East Chanchajilla, Paraboca, and Janapa, will conduct a national referendum on August 4th, 2021, for West Chanchajilla's first ever free democratic process.

TOFINO - President Atticus Moreau announced on Wednesday that the Zamastanian government, alongside the East Chanchajillan, Parabocan, and Janapan governments, have been selected by the Coalition of Crown Albatross diplomacy council to establish and moderate a national referendum process in West Chanchajilla. The elections, which will be held on August 4th, 2021, are set to be the first free democratic elections in West Chanchajillan history.

"West Chanchajilla and its people will now be able to choose their own path forward," Moreau said in a statement. "It is up to them to determine their path. It is up to us to ensure that the process is free, unabrubted, and effective. We are not in this to establish a government based on our own ideology or our own morality, but we are in this to ensure that never again will tyranny subject the West Chanchajillan people."

The elections will elect a new 300-member legislative body in the National Assembly, an institution that was once run and selected entirely by Frederick Armbar and his officers. There was no democratic process, and West Chanchajillans protesting for democratic rights and freedom of the political process were often imprisoned, tortured, or executed. The Zamastanian government, alongside the other international institutions, are set to establish monitoring sites to ensure free and fair elections.

Additionally, East Chanchajillan and Parabocan soldiers remain in West Chanchajilla as a peacekeeping force. Major combat operations ended on May 1st, and the forces now have positioned to a role of mopping up resistance, maintaining peace, and reconstruction efforts. The current staged plan is for East Chanchajillan and Parabocan peacekeepers to remain in the West until the middle of 2022, at which point CCA peacekeepers will be instated as part of a multi-international maintaining force. The future peacekeeping force will likely be consistent of nations who remained relatively neutral on the subject of the previous Armbar regime, and two nations already slated to commit troops include Artegana and Vuswistan.

A small contingent of Zamastanian peacekeepers is also present in West Chanchajilla, operating largely as a moderating and observing role for the East Chanchajillans. During the course of the conflict, only 50 Zamastanian soldiers were ever on the ground in West Chanchajilla and acted as observers and guides for the combat operations. It is unknown at this time whether Zamastanian soldiers will participate in the larger peacekeeping operations following the national referendum.

On March 23rd, at the height of the conflict, President Moreau had arrived in the East Chanchajillan capital of Vilanja to meet with East Chanchajillan President Gideon Boer, East Chanchajilla's Foreign Secretary Marcus Belsia, and Paraboca's President Garr'n Cardoza. The topic of discussion surrounded the offensive to capture West Chanchajilla's capital city of Ivora and to bring down the regime of Frederick Armbar, whose figurehead remained illusive despite intense aerial bombardment by Zamastanian bombers and intensive ground operations by East Chanchajillan forces. Armbar was killed in April.

Paraboca's military had only recently joined the East in operations on the ground as fighting to capture Ivora grew more intense, and as Zamastan's limits for aerial strikes became subject of much debate in Congressional Hall. Congressional Hall passed a temporary resolution limiting the striking capability in urban residential areas, which had the unfortunate aspect for military officials of being the exact epicenter of the heaviest fighting. Armbar's forces, which pressed a strategic retreat into the capital, established heavy defenses around the capital and specifically in residential zones in an effort to curtail coalition efforts to push further into the city. This led to the Battle of Ivora being one of the deadliest events in modern warfare, with thousands of casualties on each side of the modern armies clashing.

President Moreau, speaking to reporters alongside Presidents Boer and Cardoza, had stated that Zamastan "continues to be committed to the collapse of the regime," and will "continue to provide assistance as efficiently as (they) can." The heads of state reportedly discussed plans that would follow the inevitable fall of Ivora and the hopeful eventual capture of Frederick Armbar, both of which went differently than expected. There were plans at the time to establish an interim government moderated and advised by the three nations, which would help conduct rebuilding and security efforts. Now, however, with insurgencies still remaining throughout the country, the referendum in August is the current plan.

SECRETARY VALLOTIS WARNS CAMBRIA TO CEASE HOSTILITIES

Image
A bus where dozens of tourists were slaughtered by Cambrian-affiliated terrorists in Alecburgh is seen on April 30th. Secretary of State Vallotis urged the Cambrians to "cease the violence, for everyone's sakes".

TOFINO - Secretary of State Jessiah Vallotis today expressed heavy concerns surrounding the anticipated military action by the Alecburgh government in South Adula over the increasing violent attacks by insurgents from the self-declared Republic of Cambria. Vallotis stated "the self-declared government of Cambria wants independence from a state that has caused harm and distrust. We understand the desire for freedom. However, the insurgents who enact terror are maniacal in their resolve, and they must cease the violence, for everyone's sakes."

A violent terror attack last month left dozens dead after terrorists affiliated with Cambria hijacked a commuter bus and killed all those aboard. Victims were largely consistent of tourists, including four Quetanan citizens. Previous statements by Zamastanian officials, including President Atticus Moreau and Secretary Vallotis, have condemned both sides, with many being critical of Prime Minister Sparrow Creed and her lack of intent to seek a diplomatic solution, and others condemning the Cambrian state for not relegating their violent attacks against civilians.

Today's comments from Vallotis, according to a spokesperson, was not taking the side of Cambria in their pursuit of independence and autonomy despite the endorsement of understanding the "desire for freedom". Rather, it was recognizing that both sides in this tension set have been sources of controversy. The immovability of the Creed government and their lack of negotiation, either towards the Cambrians or on the world stage, has been disconcerting for the Zamastanian government. Additionally, the involvement of De Yuan in the military buildup has Zamastanian military officials worried of growing influence near key Zamastanian allies, like Saint Croix and Bens and Qolaysia.

On the other hand, the insurgents alligned with Cambria have proven to be violent terrorists in their atrocities against Alecburghian civilian targets. From bombings in public areas to violent massacres of international tourists, their actions have been labeled as terrorism by the Zamastanian government on numerous occassions. Yet, Zamastan does not support the Alecburghian government as they are constantly targetted by the rhetoric of Prime Minister Creed, who has complained consistently about the international perception of her response to the crisis.

Zamastanian forces in the region, deployed alongside Emmirian and Albarineans in the SCB city of Beresa, have been put on standby to respond to any Cambrian agression against their forces, but have otherwise been ordered to remain out of combat. The admiral in charge of the deployment, Ad. Darren Smuete, spoke to reporters on the deck of the ZMS Artego.

"We're committed to the defense of our national interest and our allies," stated the Admiral. "Saint Croix and Bens has often found themselves in a vulnerable position, not to mention we prioritize the protection of Zamastanian citizens abroad. Zamastanians here in Saint Croix as well as in Alecburgh, Cyruda, Nebetia, Qolaysia, all the surrounding nations... it's our duty to ensure they are safe."

DURNSTAAL DEFEATS ZAMASTAN IN OVERTIME TO WIN WORLD CUP

Image
In a close game, Durnstaal's national team came out on top to win their third World Cup title. Team captain, Martin Habicht, and team top scorer Luca Spielmann celebrate following their victory.

SULIFA - Durnstaal has dashed Zamastan's World Cup championship dreams in a close game that saw exceptional offensive and defensive plays all around, leading to a thrilling overtime matchup that saw Durnstaal besting the top scoring team of the tournament.

Zamastan was the first to threaten, with a clever cut-back from the tournament top-scorer, Isaiah Ross, going narrowly wide. Durnstaal, however, was the first to break through the defense. Durnstaal delivered a curling free-kick into the box, headed home via the underside of the crossbar, almost a goal.

Zamastan bossed possession thereafter, but they had their goalkeeper to thank for keeping them ahead after 33 minutes. Zamastan produced a superb, volleyed pass to free midfielder in space inside the area. The diminutive midfielder took a touch and shot across goal, only for the goalkeeper to fling himself south-west and make an excellent save.

When Durnstaal emerged from the break on the front foot, within minutes their forward striker failed to connect with an attempted header when unmarked in the box. Zamastan put together two wonderful passing moves, with two strikers involved. But Durnstaal did a good job in cutting out their final ball. After gifted possession to the Zamastanians on 69 minutes, they worked it to a striker, who fired just wide.

Zamastan produced a breathtaking move with 15 minutes remaining. Marty Girua skipped inside his marker and played the ball into Isaiah Ross inside the Durnstaal area. Zamastan exquisitely fooled Durnstaal's defender by letting it run through his legs, but his cut-back was cleared.
Isaiah Ross scores, putting up the first goal of the game in the 70th minute.

Back from the kick, Durnstaal found acres of space down the left and intelligently laid the ball back to the onrushing Zamastan. The latter sliced his shot but it fell kindly to another Durnstaal player, who had all the time in the world, but elected to hit it first-time, with his tame effort being repelled by the legs of a Zamastanian defender.

Zamastan again hit a shot straight at the Durnstaal goalkeeper moments later as the team leading, and not trailing, looks most likely to score the game’s second goal. Durnstaal has a great chance to do just that two minutes before the final whistle. Durnstaal played a one-two but Zamastan made a superb one-hand block from a fierce, close-range shot.

Moments before the final whistle, a spectacular recovery and subsequent three-man pass from Durnstaal breaks past Zamastanian defender, round cut kicking through the goalies hands. Durnstaal scored with seconds left before the final whistle, tying the game 1-1.

Due to World Cup rules, a tie in the finals would typically result in the team with the most points throughout the tournament winning the game (which in this case would be Zamastan by default). However, agreed before hand to not resort to penalty kicks nor the total points method, the teams are going into a ten minute overtime beforehand.

The Durnstaal striker capitalised on an error from Zamastan to put Durnstaal ahead with their first shot on target. The Zamastanian captain lost possession and Durnstaal capitalised, finding a striker on the right. Striker then gained a slice of luck as his attempted pass to one deflected off a Zamastanian defender and into the path of a Durnstaal forward, who shot home.

Durnstaal is celebrating their World Cup victory - their third title, making them among the most prolific winners of the tournament alongside Zamastan, Vitosium, and Cadair.

President Raso Affirms Support for PDA

Miles Lorton (

May 12th, 2021 | Infinity, Timeria

Today President Raso spoke to the press in Infinity where she was asked about the situation in Birat. Timeria has recently begun a military build-up in Estoca as the situation in Birat continues to worsen. The build-up has raised concern for some and hope for others. Timerian aid has begun to reach those in Birat as warplanes in Estoca await orders. President Raso also responded to criticism from President Boer as he threatens “stern repercussions”. General Mercedes Martínez has already confirmed that operations will continue as planned.

When asked about the situation in Birat President Raso stated that “at the request of our ally we agreed to assist and provide support for the PDA in Birat. President Meidan is a dictator and strongman that assassinates political opponents to keep control over Birat.” President Meidan has seen widespread disapproval throughout Birat. Recently the PDA has been declared an insurgent force that will face the full force of the Birati military. Many experts believe that without support the PDA will face large casualties and Alicent will most likely be destroyed.

Despite the PDA’s effort, President Boer has been critical of Timeria and Estoca operating in the country. East Chanchajilla recent campaign into West Chanchajilla has put the country on edge as they fear intervention in Birat could lead to instability in the region. President Raso responded today stating that “President Boer is being inconsiderate of the people of Birat and their rights. While I understand his concern and his obligation to protect the people of East Chanchajilla, others also have the same obligation. When East Chanchajilla started their campaign no one questioned their toppling of the government in West Chanchajilla. Our personnel is fully capable of understanding the scoop of the situation and responding accordingly.”

One of the major issues brought up by President Boer was how exactly will Timerian warplanes enter Birat without violating the airspace of East Chanchajilla or Avergnon. When asked about the conundrum President Raso stated that “Our military experts have drawn up plans but I can’t speak on military tactics.” Many experts believe that F/A-21 stealth fighters will be used in some capacity after a squadron was deployed to Estoca.

Despite international criticism, many within Birat are welcoming of Timerian forces. The BNP has been a dark figure over the people of Birat. It’s clear that Timeria is showing no signs of standing down and has officially demanded that President Meidan resign and allow a democratic process to take place in Birat.

PRESIDENT VANBERSON BACKS PRESIDENT BOER, BASHES PRESIDENT RASO'S REACTION

President Arthur Vanberson (Labour Party) has publicly backed President Gideon Boer of East Chanchajilla in his statements decrying North Timerian military mobilization in Estoca amid rising tensions in the small landlocked nation of Birat.

In a statement, President Vanberson pushed back against President Raso's quote of “President Boer is being inconsiderate of the people of Birat and their rights," by responding "of course President Boer recognizes the plight of the Birat people, to insinuate anything else is hypocrisy."

"Of course he (President Boer) understands," Vanberson said to reporters when asked about the comments, "East Chanchajilla has long felt the same tension. The difference in their action against the West, however, was that the West attacked them and killed them. Birat has not threatened Timeria. Birat has not threatened Estoca. It is a civil conflict, not an international one. To mobilize for war with machines of destruction like bombers and guns leads to unnecessary escalation. If you want to see the Birat government and the rebels cease hostility, you must approach diplomatically. Stand your armies down."

Vanberson was a staunch ally of President Boer during the military operations that overthrew Frederick Armbar's regime in West Chanchajilla last month. While Versenia did not participate directly in the combat, it did provide monetary and military supply to the East Chanchajillan and Parabocan militaries.

Critics of Vanberson say that he is avoiding the plight of Birat's suffering civilian population, who are increasingly finding themselves caught between clashes of the PDA and the government. President Meidan of Birat has been labeled by many as an authoritarian dictator, and his crackdowns on public demonstrations have led to international condemnation and worry.

However, the concern that the Versenia government has noted continues to be the possible encroachment of Avergnonian and East Chanchajillan territory by any Timerian or Estocan military operation. Birat is landlocked by both Avergnon and East Chanchajilla, meaning that any strike by the Timerians (which President Raso alluded to in his statements), would require travelling through their territory.

President Vanberson, continuing to defend Boer and the East Chanchajillan response, indicated he was open to additional support.

"We will of course be looking at ways to send relief supply to the civilian population of Birat. We don't support the government or the rebels. At this point, the conflict is complicated and intricate, so we need to be sure we have all the facts. One thing that we know for sure is that the people of Birat deserve better. The Versenian government will be working to admit our humanitarian resources to the crisis hot spots while avoiding any allegiance to any party involved."

Vanberson continued to state that diplomatic processes should be undertaken by an international observing force, similar to the planned referendum in West Chanchajilla.

Caspiaa's Oil Fields to Run on Green Power as They Export Carbon

Caspiaa is trying to make its dirtiest industry as clean as possible. The multi-billion-dollar plan will do little to reduce the nation’s overall climate impact.

The West Euronian island nation will use land-based green hydropower to electrify dozens of offshore oil and gas platforms. That will help meet national climate targets, and so allow the lucrative industry to keep pumping fossil fuels for decades more.

But most of the emissions from oil and gas come when it’s burned -- not when it’s extracted -- so the initiative will do little to rein in pollution globally.

Image

The move, which is mostly funded by the taxpayer, shines a light on how some countries and companies are finding ways to meet their own climate goals without jeopardizing their economic interests -- and without benefiting the planet much either. Caspiaans may buy more electric vehicles than conventional cars, but the country is a massive exporter of carbon.

“The oil industry is the biggest polluting sector, so if you want to cut emissions in Caspiaa to meet the climate targets you will not get far without electrifying it,” said Kjetil Lund, head of the Caspiaan Water Resources and Energy Directorate, which regulates the energy supply.

Caspiaa's oil and gas industry released 14 million tons of greenhouse gases from its facilities in 2019, according to Statistics Caspiaa. That’s almost 28% of the country’s total, making the sector an obvious target in the nation’s quest to reduce its emissions by 40% by 2030.

It’s also something that’s costing oil and gas companies money right now. The cost of permits in Euronia's emissions trading program, which includes Caspiaa's oil and gas platforms, have surged more than 50% this year to a record, and analysts are forecasting big gains ahead. In addition, Caspiaa plans to punish emitters further with a national tax.

Aquansa won’t reach an intermediate target to cut its emissions by 40% by 2030 without connecting platforms to the power grid, said Henriette Deia, senior vice president for the company’s New Energy Solutions arm. The choice is between electrification and curbing oil and gas output substantially.

“I think it makes sense for the Norwegian authorities to use Caspiaan power as an important tool to secure long-term income and jobs,” Deia said.

JANWARKAN COASTAL
The Janapa Maritime Authority is Making Strides in the Albarine Sea Shipping Market

Image

By investing in quality of service, a critical element to win over the ever demanding Albarine Sea shipping community and led by capable and maritime-savvy professionals like Mr. Dimitri Fiysana of Alcarres, the Janapa Maritime Authority has managed to gain a significant foothold of the ship-owning market. As a result, today, JMA is a member of the top 10 of the biggest ship registries globally, boasting of an excellent track record and a growing customer base.

Today, JMA has offices domestically, as well as abroad in Tregueux, Zamastan, Valengy, Alcarres, Courbagne, New Elkland, and Buena Vera, Artegana. All offices provide 24-hour a day service and are committed to helping the registry’s clients to deal with a growing number of compliance issues, surveys and inspections. According to Mr. Fiysana, Janapa Maritime Authority’s Regional Director Albarine Sea, “even before the pandemic struck, the JMA was looking to adopt new technology and had already started looking for new ways to help our customers, particularly in the areas of electronic certifications and online applications. As was expected, the crisis and tension in the region acted as an accelerator of these processes, as we had to adapt promptly to the new challenges which arose. The main goal was to keep our services uninterrupted throughout the year”, says Mr. Fiysana.

It’s worth noting that the Janapa Maritime Authority (JMA), has developed, already since 10 years ago, a new online system to its Registered Owners and ISM Managers, or their duly authorized Manning Agents, to submit applications for seafarers’ documentation electronically. This environmentally friendly process enabled us to offer our customers online applications for Janapan Flag State Endorsements and Seaman’s Record Book for seafarers of Janapan registered ships and for new applicants about to join a Janapan-flagged vessel.

This new system also allowed for the provision of Confirmation Receipt of Application (CRA) for Flag State Endorsement on a 24-hour basis, 7-days a week. Mr. Fiysana says that “shortly after this new online system for seafarer applications, we further expanded our online system to include other ship registration services and introduced our Janapa Online Registration Information System (JORIS), while last year this was further enhanced, via the inclusion of the ability to complete a registration application, invoice payment and certificate verification, check and reserve a vessel name”.

As a result, users don’t have to enter ship data repeatedly on registration forms. This user-friendly system is widely appreciated by clients globally. This systems is continually being updated and enhanced with new services, while JMA recently announced that its full array of ship certificates and documentation are now available electronically. The ongoing and everchanging military tensions in the region and progressive political shifts accelerated this process and has shown that the use of technology is the way forward for owners and registries alike.

One of the latest initiatives undertaken by the Janapan Maritime Authority (JMA) revolves around seafarers. JMA has announced a new survey, the Seafarer Crisis Welfare Survey, designed to capture and reflect the mental health needs of seafarers around the world during the tense events of sea travel, such as the Tarijar Strait Crisis. This initiative, in collaboration with researchers at the University of Janapa School of Public Health, manifests itself as a short, online survey open to any and every seafarer.

Elisabeth Rademacher is the BVP's first female Prime Minister candidate.

Laitstadt On May 13th, the former Prime Minister Theodor Sidemann announced during a press conference that he did not intend to run for a fourth term in the upcoming early federal parliamentary election on August 22th. This came as a surprise to his party, as it was assumed that Sidemann intended to take back his post as prime minister after the election. After the BVP had no top candidate for about two days, Elisabeth Rademacher was declared and confirmed as a candidate on May 15th at the suggestion of the party leadership. This is the first time in history that a woman is running as the top candidate for the BVP in the federal parliamentary election.

Elisabeth Rademacher was born on August 31, 1977 in Samaroda and has been Governor of the Besmenian state of Heraldsteinland since June 2016 and party leader of the BVP in Heraldsteinland since January 2016. Since March 2017 she is also vice leader of the BVP, together with Karsten Betzler and Georg Stuck.

CYRUDA NEWS MEDIA
EXPLOSION ROCKS DAWEA - CAMBRIAN TERRORISTS SUSPECTED
7 Killed, Dozens Injured

President Guiler Batemara is vowing revenge after an explosion rocked a bus station in downtown Dawea, Cyruda's largest city, amid growing tensions against the Alecburghian and Cyruda governments by the self-declared Republic of Cambria. Batemara and intelligence officials state that suspected Cambrian insurgents, who have been connected to multiple violent and deadly terror attacks in Alecburgh, are behind the explosion which is being investigated as a bombing. 7 people have been killed, and dozens more have been injured in Cyruda's worst terror attack in 2 decades.

"We vow that the lives lost today will be avenged," President Batemara stated in an address, "we will devote our energy and resources to crushing the threat of these terrorists."

There are currently 2,000 Cyrudan troops deployed in Alecburgh as part of a coalition to quell the unrest and insurgencies, which have claimed hundreds of lives in the past few months. Prime Minister Sparrow Creed of Alecburgh requested international assistance, to which Cyruda and De Yuan responded.

Dawea, the nation's largest city with a population of 772,000, is located only 40 miles from the border of Alecburgh and more importantly in the case of the attack, the self-declared Republic of Cambria.

The Cyrudan military has not seen direct action in nearly 50 years, and thus is not thoroughly experienced in combat. However, yearly drills with Alecburghian military partnerships and a collective community through SEIAA has allowed Cyruda's operations to garner some credibility. While Alecburgh's military has also not seen foreign conflict, they have had to work extensively to end uprisings within their own country.

The naval vessels participating in the deployment are the CNS Cruatorvm, CNS Neveaas, CNS Crait Rock, and the CNS Xrovat.

Major Engagement near AIXX!

Birat National News (
@BNN)
May 17th, 2021 | Argograd, Birat

There has been ten days of fragile ceasefire between federal forces and the People's Democratic Army following the seizure of V-15 and the major mobilization of thousands of federal servicemen. PDA forces have sat in defensive positions within their held territories in a stalemate that has been birthed only through the fears of both sides, as each military force is equal in power to the other on the ground. The representative for the rebellion, Alexei Volovic, has issued repeated pleas to the international stage during the past ten days, declaring that "Those nations which demand our cause go unsupported, are those that support Meidan's Regime, a man who draws an eerily high amount of parallel with the former dictator Frederick Armbar. Those nations that support our cause are those that support the democratic process, and the removal of an authoritarian regime."

Early this morning, at 1:20 AM, the fragile stalemate was shattered as PDA forces assaulted several federal positions outside of Alicent following a sudden severance of communications with federal forces surrounding AIXX. The combat lasted for over six hours with federal forces being slowly but surely removed from most positions in the southern tip of Birat, being pushed to a frontline just in front of Kabulh. The offensive saw 1,250 PDA militants killed and 4,700 injured, with 6,934 BAF soldiers dead and 12,000 wounded.

Only two hours after combat had ceased, President Meidan unveiled reports from his forces that Timerian F/A-21 Harpias jets were spotted in AIXX an hour after the offensive began. President Meidan spoke to this information during an address to the public tonight, claiming that several airstrikes hit federal forces during the withdrawal to a frontline, and that Timeria is to be considered as a hostile force, and is to be treated with the same retaliatory measures as the PDA have been met with.

Ladies and gentlemen, the country has fallen into civil war.

VONGANE JOURNAL
Travel Bans Issued For Birat as Violence Severely Escalates
Thousands Have Been Reportedly Killed in Clashes Between Government and Rebel Forces
Quetana Airways Flight Intercepted and Diverted by Birat Fighter Jets

Image
Fighting erupted near AIXX during a PDA offensive. Cell phone footage captured smoke from impacted sites.

VONGANE - President Antonio Brafeo condemned the government of Birat and the embattled president Meidan as violent clashes erupted throughout the small landlocked Euronian nation. Birat, with a population around 10 million people, has seen severe escalations in tensions as rebel forces known as the People's Democratic Army (PDA) advanced on the city of Alicent. Brafeo announced that all travel too and from Birat is suspended until further notice.

The country's largest airport, AIXX, has seen immense combat nearby, as have many major cities and towns throughout the country. While Birat national media states that over 8,000 people have been killed in the fighting within the past few days, Quetanan observers believe these numbers have been exaggerated. Regardless, fighting is intense and casualties are mounting. Humanitarian needs are being analyzed, and Brafeo has called on the Coalition of Crown Albatross Security Council to respond.

"President Meidan is a tyrant and must step down," Brafeo harshly and strictly stated, "and I condemn him and his authoritarian rule in the most direct way."

The Quetanan government has warned against international aggression, especially by the governments of Estoca and North Timeria, who had been building up military forces in the southern region of Estoca in response to growing tensions. There have already been reports of Timerian jets conducting airstrikes at positions across Birat. The implications of this are far reaching, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Timerian jets would have had to have crossed sovereign East Chanchajillan or Avergnonian territory, which constitutes an incursion.

"Estoca's government is operating with either malicious impunity or absolute ignorance," Brafeo stated. "If they are working towards the benefit of the Birat people, their silence and resort to military engagement is frightening and concerning. Why so much silence if their intentions are good? We condemn the non-negotiable intervention of Estoca and Timeria until clarification has been provided as to the extent of their interference in a crisis which has gone out of control."

While fighting never breached the airport at AIXX, commercial flights were ordered by BNAF fighters to divert. A Quetana Airways flight with 280 people onboard was intercepted near the airport by a fighter jet and was ordered to turn back, and the plane was diverted to Ilhaveia International Airport in Great Lutharia.

Brafeo's travel ban comes amid these growing tensions, and the incident with the Quetana Airways flight was "a dangerous and provocative event that could have resulted in severe consequences".

VILANJA SENTINEL
BORDER CLASH RESULTS IN INCREASED SECURITY ALONG BIRAT BORDER
Intense fighting has spiraled the landlocked nation into a violent civil war

Image
Chanchajillan troops evacuate a wounded comrade following a firefight with Birat federal forces who accidentally crossed the border. No Chanchajillans were killed in the fight, although 6 were wounded. At least 9 Birat soldiers were killed.

PRETESIA - A small skirmish along the border of East Chanchajilla and Birat has resulted in a Chanchajillan victory after Birat federal troops attempted to maneuver around PDA rebel positions and encroached the border. Birat regime forces fired mortars at the Chanchajillan positions, resulting in a number of injuries. It is believed that the engagement was accidental, but nevertheless an intense firefight ensued. At least 9 Birat soldiers were killed before they retreated back into Birat.

The incursion came as a civil war erupts in Birat, a small nation with a tightly compacted population of 10 million people. Thousands of civilians and combatants alike have been killed as major rebel and federal offenses clash together in major urban areas.

President Boer had previously warned against the escalating tensions and that there was a major possibility of it evolving into a full-blown civil war. Among his concerns raised was the involvement of foreign powers, specifically that of Estoca and North Timeria. Timerian jets have been spotted in Birat and have reportedly conducted airstrikes. Their presence in Birat, however, indicates an encroachment through either East Chanchajillan or Avergnonian territory, which Boer strongly condemned. Boer had previously stated that such actions essentially constitutes an international breach of territory and an illegal military movement through sovereign lands.

"Timeria broke trust by moving their forces through our sovereign territory," Boer stated. "I specifically warned against this and stated there would be repercussions for such action. Timeria's government, military, and assets are officially barred from entering East Chanchajilla for this blatant disregard of international boundary to conduct military operations."

East Chanchajilla's government is issuing a ban on travel from Timeria, and is expelling their ambassador and consulate staff for a slated period of two months in response to the incident. As for Estoca, East Chanchajilla's government continues to state that they should not harbor Timerian forces, as their entrance to Birat likely stemmed from their positions in Estoca.
