The broadcast assumed an unmistakably somber tone from its onset. The first few minutes were silent as viewers amassed, the camera's view comprised solely of an American flag backdrop. The commenting feature had been deliberately disabled, although the audience was still able to react to the broadcast with emoji. Finally, senatorial candidate Crawford Clay entered the frame, freshly shaven and well-dressed, features arranged in a carefully composed visage that conveyed nothing so much as solemnity.

"Hello, Texas," Clay began after a moment, underscoring the seriousness of the situation by foregoing his usual howdy. "You don't need me to tell you that the past few days have been among the most turbulent in modern American history. The untimely death of Marlon Ward was indisputably an avoidable tragedy— but the reactions to it, on both ends of the political spectrum, have been utterly disgusting."

As Clay's narration continued, the livestream was replaced with footage of protestors wreaking property damage in Dallas.

"Agitated by their political allies in the Democratic Party, anti-American elements within our state took Mr. Ward's death as an excuse to ravage Texan cities. Radical groups such as Antifa and Black Lives Matter continue to riot, loot, and burn even as we speak. Let me be crystal clear: I stand and have always stood on the side of law and order. I am behind our brave policemen and -women one-hundred percent. I am behind our Texas national guardsmen and -women one-hundred percent. I call on the Governor and our municipal officials to restore order and safety to Dallas and other affected cities as swiftly as possible. The Founding Fathers enshrined our right to peacefully protest— they never gave us a right to burn and steal."

The camera returned to Clay. Clay's voice rose, jaw clenched, and he shook his fist for emphasis. "I was tough on crime as a Texas district attorney. I was tough on crime as a United States Attorney. And I will be tough on crime as your next Senator, too. Months ago I introduced a resolution to designate Antifa, the group currently razing Texan cities, a terrorist organization. The party of Harold Baines is the reason that resolution hasn't passed. The Democratic establishment have made it clear that they stand against our police, against law and order, against stability. Well, my record speaks for itself. As Senator, I will not forget what is happening in Dallas. I will hound the government until it tracks down and punishes each and every terrorist responsible for the chaos we are living through."

Clay paused, and shifted slightly in his seat.

"Unfortunately, Antifa is not the sole source of this chaos. In nearby Georgia, as I'm sure you know, Bernard Porter is currently resisting arrest. Let me be clear, here, too: I stand with President Tawney, one-hundred percent. I have called on Porter to stand down before, and I do it again now. He is partially responsible for agitating the violence and destruction plaguing our country, and he must answer for his crimes. Once, I thought Bernard Porter was an American patriot, but his nefarious contribution to the current breakdown of social order has exposed him for the saber-rattler he is at heart. I implore anyone who still supports Bernard Porter to realize that inciting riots and re-enacting the Waco Siege is not the way forward for conservatism.

"The way forward for conservatism is patriotism, law and order, and dutiful service. I have been a public servant all my life, and that remains true today. Tomorrow, I am headed to Dallas to assist in the pacification and rebuilding efforts however I can. I want to meet with the affected families and business owners, and assess the problem before I return to Congress to right these rioters' wrongs.

"The people of the great state of Texas are known nationwide for their brotherhood. Now more than ever is the time for us to come together, in denunciation of violence and destruction, in rejection of the rabble-rousing tactics of the Democratic Party, and in support of our country.

"For now, know that America is in my prayers. May God protect you, and keep your family safe, whoever and wherever you are. I would be glad if you would join me in a moment of silence not only for Marlon Ward, but for the Americans everywhere who have lost their lives, their loved ones, or their livelihoods due to this crisis." Clay bent his head. After thirty grave seconds, he looked up. "I urge you to keep America in your prayers. I know I will. God bless y'all, God bless America, and God bless Texas. Good night."

Oszkár Lenard voted for Bernie Porter.

A Georgia native and the son of Hungarian immigrants who escaped to America in desperate flight from communism, the man had thus far spent all 43 years of his life here, and he didn't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. The veteran agent known as "Ozzie" by colleagues was a jokester, his mild accent from his roots and and private schooling delivering an extra kick to the one liners he would deliver to his colleagues around the breakroom table, where he would affectionately rib and be ribbed, all in good fun. His wife, Amanda, was waiting at home right now, their three kids watching the news unfold on live television as chaos struck rural Georgia. He of course, was on the scene now, doing his duty. "I voted for the son of a bitch.", Oszkar said, this time out loud, quietly enough that only he himself heard. Mere months ago, he had been inspired by the target of this raid, sure that he would provide the stable leadership needed to navigate the nation through a time of economic and political distress in the aftermath of President Wolf's unfortunate diagnosis. An admirer of the American military and what it stood for, and a man whose values were rooted in tradition and law, Lenard was confident that a man who had climbed the ranks of the armed forces and stood beside a President who put people first would make an excellent President himself. So, he had voted for him, while his wife had voted for Jillian Dayton, and he resigned himself to the man's defeat, knowing that he would return in another 4 years and make good on his promises next time.

He couldn't have been more wrong.

"Team 1 is a go." he said, this time with his microphone on. After a full day of planning, the operation was deemed ready for launch, and here he was, on the front end of it, having been assigned the dangerous task of leading the frontward incursion into the compound. Receiving affirmative calls from teams 2 and 3, Lenard told John to ready the battering ram.
Rick Scottsman voted for Bernie Porter.

The air force veteran struggled to keep his eyes open as he leaned back against his chair, the sandbags in front of him looking like pillows as he reached for the cup of coffee on the table next to him. He thought about his ex wife, and how she must be sitting there at home self-satisfied, knowing she was "right about him" or whatever. Their marriage had fallen apart 2 years ago, after an explosive fight over conspiracy theories and a refusal to vaccinate their daughter, and she'd taken Katie with her. The court found his association with militia groups and reckless spending on prepper gear was the straw that broke the camel's back, and he'd been seeing his daughter once or twice a month as a result. Rage and misery dominating his life, the recession taking his job and others taking his country, Rick saw part of himself in Bernie Porter, someone who knew what was right and did it even when it was unpopular, even when it was deemed crazy by elites and liberals. The draw to the man hadn't ended at the voting booth, and he'd jumped at the opportunity to join him in Atlanta. Now here he was, in this compound, an automatic weapon shoved into his hands. He didn't regret a second of it. If this was how he was supposed to serve, so be it. He believed in the cause, and if that meant he had to -

The front door crashed open as the mug of coffee flew out of Rick's left hand, much of it coming down on him, scalding his arm and shoulder and eliciting a groan of pain. He fumbled with his rifle as a flash of light blinded him, and he lifted it towards the source, beginning to pull the trigger.
Clarette Smith didn't vote, but she did notice the imminent threat as Team 1 entered the building. Adrenaline filling her body, she fired towards the man in the chair, her rifle round passing through his head just as he fired a wild shot that entered the building's ceiling, his body careening backwards along with the chair and blood spattering the wall behind him, a loud clamor echoing through the room. She saw Ozzie neutralize a second target, shooting the individual in the chest and rendering them immobile as their gun was kicked away. She scanned the room. A shotgun slug narrowly missed her head, tearing through Agent Sanders' right shoulder and causing him to drop to the ground in agony. Agent Smith returned fire, striking the assailant four times in the torso, his arms going limp as he weakly clutched at his wounds. "SANDERS DOWN, ROOM CLEAR!" she shouted, the team carefully scanning the room before positioning themselves in front of the next door.
Adam Ulricht voted for Harambe, in 2016 that was. A lot had changed between then and now. His descent into far-right circles and association with white supremacists had started as ironic, and then became all too serious as he began chatting with people who were certain that an assault on the white race was underway, and white people were losing. Slowly but surely adopting this worldview himself with nobody to stop him, he ultimately came to the conclusion that shitposting on forums was not enough, he needed to take real action. He started meeting up with people in person, leading to a couple of close friendships forged in hatred and furthered in vandalism, his stint of criminal charges remaining misdemeanors only due to the leniency of local law enforcement, of which his dad was a part. Now he was in this bunker, having been swept along with his friend Samuel in the heat of the moment, and he was holding onto a shotgun for dear life. "Don't pussy out." Sam said to his friend, reading the look on his face. "Its too late-"

Team 2 burst into the room, the flash going off. Adam ducked behind the sandbags, hearing as Sam fired out rounds at the encroaching agents. Hearing a sudden stop in his friend's firing, Adam peeked over, seeing his friend's face covered in blood, his body limp. He screamed, pointing his shotgun at the agents and pulling the trigger, sending a blast straight through the chest of Agent Jacob Fred Patterson, killing him near instantly. A bullet tore through him before he could fire again, gasps escaping his mouth as he found himself unable to move his legs. "PATTERSON DOWN, ROOM CLEAR!" shouted a deep voice as Adam's vision blurred, his mind failing to process anything but the pain. He felt someone step on him as he fell asleep.
Lucy Barkston voted for Bernie Porter. Twice. The only woman on the compound other than a few of the advancing agents, her husband died shortly before the Republican Primary in Georgia. Though he was a Democrat who had expressed an interest in Levi Murphy's campaign, Lucy figured that if he was dead, he wouldn't mind his mail in ballot going to the former Secretary of Defense instead. They were both men of the people, after all, they just disagreed on particulars. A hunter and grandmother, Lucy listened closely as the sounds of gunfire echoed through the thick concrete walls of the compound, and she knew they were getting close. She looked over at Bobby Mondale. He was a man about her oldest son's age. She wondered what her son would think of this when he saw it on the news. For a moment, she waffled, wondering if it was too late to surrender. She loved Bernie sure, but all this? People were getting killed. Maybe it was righteous but, what if it wasn't? She grimaced. Nonetheless she pointed her gun at the door.
Rebecca Clark was going to vote for Nate Richardson, but she'd been dealing with a family emergency on the day of the vote. Christian had gotten sick, and she'd had to take him to the doctor just to make sure nothing was seriously wrong with him. Thankfully he was fine, just a cold probably and a bad dinner, but always better safe than sorry. She didn't regret the decision. Now she was in the heat of it, a raid. She hadn't expected this a couple days ago. As the explosives specialist on Team 3, she had just managed to find and defuse the shit in the walls of the hallway, the wiring messy and unimpressive, signs of a rushed job to be sure. Indicating to her team that they were good to proceed, they stepped over the body they had downed. Turning a corner, the squad quietly entered a large room, with overturned tables and fridges. Rebecca's gaze settled on a shape moving behind one of the tables, and the last thing she saw before her death was the face of an elderly woman.
Andre Callahan wrote in Gordon Callahan. A cousin of the Senator, he had always thought his blood was fit for the office, even if he wasn't running. Not that it mattered now. Watching Rebecca's helmet cave in from the force of the blast broke something in him. Beautiful Rebecca, oh my god what about Christian. He screamed and fired at the shapes, filling them with lead as tears streamed down his face. He broke protocol and knelt down to try and help his squadmate, but he had to turn away at the sight of what had happened. "CLARK DOWN, ROOM SECURED!" yelled Agent Grascon as the squad proceeded through the room. Tears ran down Callahan's face as he broke away from his fallen friend and continued with his squad. That pasty white fucker was going to pay for this.
Oszkár Lenard's squad was the first to reach the saferoom. Something told him that this was the room with the target. He motioned for John to break the door in. As he did so, a blast flew through the entryway, knocking him on his back with great force as his squadmates returned fire, killing the man positioned to ward off the agents before flashing the room and charging in. Lenard put a round through the throat of a man attempting to duck behind a desk, the defender's firearm falling to the ground and discharging into the wall. The agent looked to the right.

There he was. Secretary Porter. His hands were behind his back

"Show us your fucking hands General!" he shouted. "TARGET LOCATED!" shouted Agent Smith, coming up next to him. Agent Aadams made the third agent with their weapon trained on Porter as the others pulled back, wary of potential explosives and focusing now on evacuating a seriously wounded John. "Don't try anything stupid!"

Agent Lenard's eyes widened, and he made a split second decision. The pure lunacy in the General's eyes betrayed his intentions, and as his thumb came down on the trigger the agent turned and shoved Agent Smith with all of his might, sending her violently through the entrance from which they came as the room's explosives detonated. Agent Aadams fired off his weapon as the force consumed the enclosed space, his bullets making contact with the former Secretary too late as fire engulfed the persons still within, all three men dying rapidly from the blast and its effects.

Agent Smith screamed as part of her body was licked by the flames, pulling herself away and scrambling for the exit as Team 2 came upon the scene. "Explosives detonated in the saferoom, target... deceased." Agent Yovanovich reported to those outside. "Structural damage serious, we need swift evac of those still inside before this whole thing goes up in smoke."
