What is the word for a group of cormorants? Herd, flock, murder? Apparently, it's a dynasty. Kendra Ramsey has added the final pieces to the puzzle, and now Nephara look unstoppable, at least for another cycle. They've made it to three straight World Cup finals, won three straight regionals, and with a hard-nosed defensive core look nastier than ever.

Tactics

Nepharan football is based around playing hard, pressing aggressively, playing for keeps. Occasionally this leaves gaps behind the high defensive line, though most Nepharan goalkeepers are in the sweeping mould these days to compensate. Marchers are, by and large, a physically imposing folk, and eager to throw their size around. The footballing culture is intensely competitive, and those that survive to make their way to the top are hellbent on winning at any cost. Elbows to the face. Subtle digs in the ribs. Diving is dishonest when opponents do it but streetwise when Nepharim do it. In short, Nephara are the bully from two years above who picked you, specifically, out as a natural target.

That is often the foreign perspective, but it overlooks a key fact; Nepharan football can honestly be beautiful to watch. Generations of players brought up on dry plains or asphalt play the ball quickly and fearlessly along the ground, never sideways when there's a forward option open, always looking to stretch and probe and stay one really good pass away from a goal. Nepharim are undoubtedly physical, even cynical, but their success has been built off the backs of ruthless, fast-paced passing football.

The Godhead
For home matches, and during international tournaments, Nephara wheels out the 'Godhead', a giant boulder with an eerie resemblance to Gethin Ramsey, first manager of the Cormorants in the modern era and by now long dead. Nepharim have a superstitious streak, and while nobody's saying it is, in fact, the mystic reincarnation of their most iconic leader, nobody's quite not saying it, either. The Godhead is traditionally 'walked' to the stadium by Nepharan ultras using an intricate series of ropes, and often a flare is wedged into its 'mouth' to simulate a smoking cigar.

Daughter of the legendary Gethin Ramsey, Nephara's Baptism of Fire manager and (probably) the first manager to take three different nations to the World Cup, but Triffid's eager to get out from under that shadow. A very good but not excellent player, Ramsey took naturally to management and pursues a more modern version of the elder Ramsey's ideals - industry backed by data, athleticism backed by sport science, pace backed by skill. Catherine Sedgwick is a former national team player and formidable manager in her own right, here to offer a steady hand at the tiller and keen tactical mind. Together, they won the World Cup. What else is there to say?

Anyone with any sense has their eye on Provost. She's sharp, spry, with the height and deceptive power to command her area, and only getting better year on year. Her sights are set on the very top, as she has the potential to be one of the best in the game.

Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 27 - 8 caps, 4 clean sheets
WC87 Champion
A languid, reliable goalkeeper with a rare command of her area. She might not be the most eye-catching of shot-stoppers, but her judgement and anticipation are second to none. Garamond will reliably concede slightly fewer goals than expected without ever really being flashy about it.

20 - GK - Fasolt Senninger (

AFC Treason) - Age 30 - 13 caps, 4 clean sheets
Another former Stags backup who had to leave for fresh air, Senninger combines the physique of a shaved bear with balletic reflexes. He wound up returning to his hometown club, and his excellent form has lead to a national recall as well. An excellent, graceful shot-stopper, but lacking in the finer things.

2 - RB - Rovena Stride (

AFC Treason) - Age 29 - 92 caps, 8 goals
C75 Galactico, WC87 Champion
Stride's surname is apt. She's fast; very fast, and just gets the simple things right. All of them at once, racing upfield for overlapping runs to lash in raking low crosses, before tracking back at full speed to put in a crunching sliding tackle. A world-class player.

3 - LB - Vivica Muscadin (

Sabrefell Moths) - Age 28 - 64 caps, 4 goals
WC87 Champion
Like many prospects from the Moths, Muscadin is sharp and trained to win at any and all costs. She strides the field with an easy arrogance and a ferocious burst of pace, and anyone trying to get past her is due a stud in the back of the knee. So, no, she's not interested in playing nice.

5 - CB - Reniira Clevinger (

Sabrefell Athletic) - Age 24 - 33 caps, 5 goals
The first half-satyr - indeed, the first non-fullblooded human - to represent the national team, Clevinger essentially looks like a hulking 6'8" woman with blue skin and stubby, vestigial horns poking out of her scalp. Unsurprisingly, she's also the tallest person in Cormorants history. That's handy as a centre-half, and helped her score two goals in WC87.

6 - CB - Miska Brabanzon (

Sabrefell Moths) - Age 25 - 18 caps
WC87 Champion
A pugnacious, bruising centre-half who flies eagerly and viciously into challenges. The hope is that Brabanzon and Clevinger will be the new Thorn and Brosch, going forward, just as they've been at youth level and in the Eagles Cup - this, despite playing for the two sides with the most enduring rivalry in Nephara. She offers more silk and dynamism to go with the steady Clevinger's steel.

18 - RB - Pristina Soeringer (

Stein-los Turkish) - Age 24 - 16 caps, 1 goal
Diminutive when she came through the ranks, Soeringer learned to fight dirty from the low ground, before late-blooming into a powerful specimen. She can play dirty or firm-but-fair, and boasts an excellent cross and the nous to know when to surge forward. A superb allrounder.

19 - CB - Bersant Sale (

AFC Treason) - Age 28 - 7 caps, 1 goal
A tall, relentlessly consistent defender, impeccably clean. He puts pressure on without ever overstepping, and will never get you in trouble by thinking he can pass his way out of danger. That, then, is why everyone feels secure despite this guy's extreme lack of international experience.

22 - LB - Radeka Lind (

Vermillion Rage) - Age 21 - 8 caps
WC87 Champion
Initially seen as a radical selection, Lind has pushed her way through as first-choice. Still looks somewhat coltish, but it belies her unerring eye for a challenge. It's Lind's unabashed love of taking the ball away from people that's her standout in a country that tends to like its fullbacks forward at every opportunity; Lind swings in a vicious cross, but her inherent caution is well-suited to the international game.

4 - HM - Rook Timekeeper (

Sabrefell Moths) - Age 24 - 15 caps
An elegant player with a strapping physique, Timekeeper offers both silk and steel in equal measure. With pace, technique and strength, he roves the midfield not only able to whisk the ball away, but with plenty of ideas for where it can go afterwards. A thumping shot doesn't hurt, though in fairness it's usually thumped into the stands, or a nearby street.

7 - RM - Anselm Koerner (

1830 Cathair) - Age 27 - 35 caps, 9 goals
WC87 Champion
Surprisingly, a winger without all that much flair. Koerner's best aspects are blinding pace, bruising muscle and relentless physicality, and he's set to ride that to the top. Nobody really expected him to be the one of his class to make it, but the difference might just be top-class athleticism and the workrate to us e it. He's always, always running.

8 - CM - Lothaire Cromwell (

AC Izotz Zubia) - Age 27 - 52 caps, 13 goals
WC87 Champion
Cromwell is the kind of player whose statistical multi-scale radar looks like a circle. He held down the midfield for the U21s and can certainly play that role, but at heart he needs to run, and room to run forward into the box at the perfect moment. He's tall, strong, fast, he'll brawl, he can pick out a pass, and he's already a leader of the team.

11 - LM - Kendra Considine Ramsey (

AFC Treason) - Age 25 - 19 caps, 4 goals
WC87 Champion
The wild card of the team. Considine's international future was an unknown for the longest time, and those closest to the player assumed she'd represent Schottia. She's Triffid Ramsey's adoptive daughter, and has no actual blood ties to Nephara. But she's ambitious, at heart, and with Schottia out of current contention, has seized her opportunity to bring her particular brand of fey lethality to the world stage.

13 - RM - Severine Reed (

Raynor City United) - Age 23 - 12 caps, 3 goals
Elegant and refined, despite coming from Stahlburg, Reed's instantly recognisable from the intricate and connected vine tattoos linking both arms. She's also instantly recognisable from the absolutely vicious right-footed deliveries of crosses and shots.

14 - CM - Thalassa Fletcher (

La Nueva Avenida) - Age 25 - 7 caps, 1 goal
No, not that Fletcher, the other Fletcher. Exene is the rags-to-riches story; Thalassa's got pedigree and is living up to it. Not as likable a person, not seen as a natural scrapper, but living in Farfadillis at times like these proves she's harder than given credit for. Statuesque, arrogant, and crisp on the ball. Fletcher never puts a foot wrong. It almost feels like she plays the game in stiletti.

15 - HM - Rashica Horvath (

La Nueva Avenida) - Age 29 - 25 caps
WC87 Champion
A revelation for the Cormorants, Horvath was a forgotten woman who everyone figured had missed her shot, including herself. But the former U21s captain is made of stern stuff, and managed to wrestle her way back into contention. Hard-nosed, taciturn and useful with the ball at her feet, Horvath's more than a plain destroyer.

18 - LM - Chantal Kalevi (

Stein-los Turkish) - Age 26 - 16 caps, 5 goals
One of the key beneficiaries of the selection policy over the past couple of Eagles' Cups. Kalevi is a true classic winger, pacy, hard-working and with an absolute hammer of a left boot. There's one exception; she uses that hammer of a boot to make goalkeepers' lives flash before their eyes as the ball whistles into the net.

Forwards
9 - ST - Bastet North (

Jungle Strike) - Age 26 - 6 caps, 2 goals
Called up to the Eagles' Cup without first-tier experience, North's explosive form warranted both it and the call from Jungle Strike that followed. A prowling, unpredictable striker known for being mentally resolute, and has with time developed into an all-around athlete, strong with a terrifying sprint on her when she feels the need.

10 - ST - Konrad Lovelace (

Revolutionaries) - Age 30 - 79 caps, 43 goals
C78 Galactico, WC87 Champion
'The new Estrella Hawke', according to excitable headlines that don't pay attention to anything that matters. They're both from Starling, they're both strikers, they're both athletic, they're both good. Blistering pace, football intelligence and a ruthless finish are his best assets, his right boot his one failing. The one year he forced his way above Bastable, he was still dropped for the final for tactical reasons; he just can't catch a break.

16 - ST - Danica Marinkovic (

Royal Rumiatzi) - Age 28 - 7 caps, 4 goals
A ferocious terrier up front, someone who will not rest until she's got a goal and, after that, until a hat-trick. Bloody-minded and ambitious, but not the largest. She's the bolter of the squad, and probably won't get many more chances with the Cormorants, bluntly... but in this moment, and in this form? It doesn't matter. In the final, in the 80th minute, she could Be The One.

21 - ST - Latona Basilisk (

Mâ Âlâmëómë) - Age 26 - 33 caps, 17 goals
C75 Young Galactico, WC87 Champion
Former Young Galactico Basilisk is self-assured to the point of parody, right to the point of having made 'Basilisking' - purported to be her petrifying stare one-on-one with goalkeepers - not only part of her brand, but trademarked. So you'd better believe it matters to say: she's very nearly as good as she thinks she is. Moxham decided only Basilisk had the moxie to pull off the 21 without her. Then came back to reclaim it. Now she's gone again, so Basilisk's gone through a lot of shirt numbers.

23 - ST - Ruby Gjasula (

Bastion) - Age 27 - 10 caps, 4 goals
Feisty, arrogant and with a remarkable eye for goal, Gjasula's meteoric rise makes her the bolter in the squad, given that consistent goal output was the Cormorants' one struggle in their glory year. Originally reliant on her pace, Gjasula's intelligence shines through with her runs, and her ruthless finishing helps round out a lethal forward.

It’s a little while now since Brian McAllister swapped the relative comfort of being a number two for the crucible of international head coachery. A key part of the backroom team that masterminded Tikariot’s highly impressive arrival onto the world stage, McAllister led Sargossa to fourth place at the Cup of Harmony 78 and a couple of quarter final places. The last World Cup was disappointing but it was a transitional side. This time around expectations will be higher.

As a teenager Martínez was touted as a future star by no less a luminary as former Corsairs’ keeper and coach Martín Tejera. He’s know showing exactly why he earned that praise. Sergio Arrabal spent his formative years as a hugely talented understudy at Ciudad Soulca. He had to move to Alianza to finally prove he had what it takes to be a number one. Gaos provides a very experienced back-up option.

At times during the last World Cup campaign the Corsairs were woeful at the back, conceded forty times in eighteen fixtures. A reversion to a back three seems to have stemmed the tide and the side looked much harder to break down at the Copa Rushmori in Eura. The experienced Juan Esnáider remains the leader at the back but the coaching staff have been searching around for real quality at centreback. Miralles and Dengra have the nod for now but Máximo Moya is waiting to step in. The youngster Cáceres looks to be an absolute gem dug from the barrios of San Marquez and could get some international experience under his belt. Figueroa and Barrueco are both comfortable ranging forward, potentially at the expense of their defensive duties.

If the wingbacks don’t push forward in support, there’s a danger in the midfield duo becoming overwhelmed. So a pairing with plenty of lung capacity is a must. Enrique González proved a revelation at the Copa and is likely to continue partnering Juan Sebastián Varela, with Marcos Águila pushing both hard for a starting berth. Fonseca remains a class act but probably now lacks the legs to compete for a full ninety minutes. He and midfield destroyer Esteban Pomar will likely see plenty of action from the bench. The initial delight shown by the wingers at the appointment of a coach who might actually use them in the preferred roles has worn off since the recent tactical tweak, having found themselves as plan Bs once again.

No team in the group scored more than Sargossa in the last World Cup campaign so personnel in the offensive third are likely to remain largely unchanged. Mateo Manzanares has made the central striking role his own but Diego Alejandro Costa’s dip in form in the second half of qualifiers may have counted against him. Although an impressive Copa Rushmori should see him in the starting eleven. Mauricio Sainz provides a more agricultural option through the middle if necessary. Alonzo Bienvenida and Esteban Leguizamo are more conventional wide options and both have impressed when coming on from the bench.

Style

Brian McAllister, alongside Stuart Ekstrom, implemented an attractive, fluid, attacking style on their Tikariot side. With a formation that was 4-3-3 in possession, 4-5-1 without it and plenty of movement, both on and off the ball. Swift, short passing and forwards switching positions to confuddle the opposition were also hallmarks of that Tikariot approach. The coach hasn’t quite been able to bring that tactical blueprint to bear in Sargossa. Unfortunately, while effective going forward, the Corsairs have been slightly woeful at the back. Which has led to something of a tactical rethink. In response McAllister has moved to meld a defensive form his charges are comfortable with, namely a back three, but still keeping the attacking flourish his own favoured system has displayed. Creating something akin to a hybrid 5-2-3.

The SuperLiga is quite a physical league so challenges can often be described as 'uncompromising' and cards are pretty common. Gamesmanship, while never encouraged, is also not entirely uncommon. But diving is considered particularly stigmatic so Sargossan players are unlikely to be found doing it.

Designed by Nethertopian architect Gert Naamloos and part financed by two SuperLiga clubs, the Sargossan government and Starblaydi sportswear giants ediraf it is a truly magnificent sporting arena. The Estadio Generalissimo Joaquín Delgado, as the ediraf Arena was rechristened when the naming rights deal expired, is the epitome of a modern football stadium. Consequently, it is the national side’s most commonly used venue. Unfortunately, the glamourous surroundings are marred somewhat by the Soluca crowds’ reputation for being both fickle and moody.

The internal facilities may have been kept relatively up to date at the Independienté but little has changed at the vast open bowl since its construction. The nation’s largest sporting venue and one that prides itself on the genuine carnival atmosphere produced on matchdays.

Constructed as part of a government drive to boast sport, the site is also home to the national Track and Field Centre of Excellence, an aquatic centre, basketball and volleyball facilities and a state-of-the-art sport science clinic. The stadium itself is an impressive venue that is regularly voted as the top matchday experience by fans in the SuperLiga. The Sargossan record there too is very strong, having dropped points only three times in matches played in Maturín over the years.

Dropped from hosting duties to accommodate the Petro Dome in nearby Mercada, but reinstated following a vocal public outcry.

Further down the depth chart, Zarek is a dependable shot stopper, and will fill in capably if any of the front runners is unavailable. Sivitri getting a callup seems like a bit of a stretch, but she's still no slouch in net.

Center back was by far the toughest position at which to make the qualifying pool this cycle, and some very deserving players, including Nakhutin, Orzhova, Barkaan, and Marko were all left off. At the top of the depth chart, the choice is easy. Harkhan has won Best Defender four of the past five SCFA seasons and with good reason. Behind her though, it's a logjam. Bucvarov, after taking a couple seasons to adjust to life in Farfadillis, has emerged as a very good center back in a league packed with attacking talent. Dalso is a wily veteran, and still more mobile than some attackers might think. Ciernik and Baste are both solid defenders in their prime, while Szimon arrives as the first representative of the youth movement driving Lublova forward. Galdra edges out the other contenders for the final spot by virtue of the vital role she's played in making Porter City perennial contenders in Kohnhead.

The numbers assigned lay out the general roles for the three starters, with Takala forward and Hashemi and Marrish in more holding roles, but all three will freely switch places as the situation warrants. Lomidan, Sonari, and Arslan can easily slot into any of those roles, as both have well-rounded skill sets. Damnagoras is an attacker, often functioning more as a raumdeuter than a traditional CAM. Tabur, by contrast, is most at home defending, and will always play a holding role. She's no enforcer though, and employs a great deal of finesse in her approach to the position.

Some would say that Petrov has come down a bit from the high of being named to the Galacticos Best Eleven a season ago, but not by much. She was again a force with Moths, and is the unquestioned first choice at striker. Gerstlauer right behind her continues to push for her spot though, and the competition between the two for playing time at striker has precluded nearly everyone else in the pool from seeing significant time on the field. Of the remaining three, Stienno is cut in a fairly traditional striker mold, while Verhulst is an astonishingly athletic blend of strength and workrate. Nebojsic, on the other hand, is a bit more of a technician.

Brenecia's greatest enemy ahead of the coming qualifiers isn't any threat on the pitch, but rather budget constraints. The fact is, Brenecia's been broke for decades, but the shining pride of the nation has been its football team and rival governments have both sought to keep it in as good a state as possible. But the good times are over, there's a (talented) novice manager at the helm, the league is being out-thought and outshone by emerging rivals and there is still a cultish reliance on Lauren Cheney to get the job done. And, yeah, they'll be flying economy-class to every game.

First Team and Tactics

Sienna Fallon's national pool is physical, disciplined and tough to break down, but lacks out-and-out goal threat with the exception of the aging egomaniac Lauren Cheney. Fallon's way of dealing with this is basically to accommodate Cheney to do whatever she wants, aided by a solid core behind her; in fact, the spine of the team is genuine world-class. Brenecia will not be prolific, aiming mostly to break teams down in the centre of the park and spring quick counters down the flanks, with a conservative approach and a deep defensive line.

Byrne has taken Stroud's place. Against the strongest opponents, Townsend and Schofield will play together in midfield instead of Caitiff. Unless Townsend is playing, Roscommon wears the armband.

Despite being 5'8" - with all the weakness in the air that entails - Dundalk's made a name for himself as a brilliant reflex stopper who never lets errors get him down.

A young rightback emerging at lightning speed into the public eye; her combination of blinding pace, limitless energy and enthusiastic slinging of crosses into the box mean that there's plainly something special here to develop.

A slender fullback, poised, technical and intelligent. The best fullbacks know when to hold 'em and fold 'em, and when to run (constantly); Roscommon has all these gifts and more, as any midfielder would be proud to have her passing range with her left.

Holdenberg) - Age 29 - 78 caps, 11 goals
A colossal defender who loves to put a bit of stick about. The art of defending and the joy of defending remain alive whenever Leadbetter is on the pitch. A serious destroyer of men in either box, and a genuine threat in set pieces.

6 - CB - Casey Giltanan (

Workers Union) - Age 24 - 31 caps, 4 goals
Giltanan's more than a statement about Brenecia's paper-thin stocks at centre-half. She is a bona fide talent, taking an early gamble in Eura and hoping it'll come off. Early signs are positive, with Giltanan's mixture of composure on the ball and bloody-mindedness off it papering over occasional lapses in concentration that time should beat out.

17 - RB - Caithe Shepherd (

Brinemouth) - Age 28 - 36 caps
A pacy and diligent fullback, Shepherd always seems to be in the thick of the action. She still sporadically makes errors, leaves space, and lunges a little too eagerly into homicidal challenges. But just as one begins to despair, she saves the day at either end.

18 - CB - Rhea Henderson (

Northern Union) - Age 27 - Uncapped
A classic, uncomplicated defender who does little special but everything required. Rarely turned or caught out of position, Henderson's main flaw is being slow as fuck, and is best in a low block that plays to her strengths. Little wonder, then, she was uncapped before; little wonder she's a mainstay now.

19 - LB - Deimne Watermark (

Northern Stallions) - Age 28 - 37 caps, 1 goal
Watermark is a sharp and powerful defender, but his main claim to fame is once throwing up hungover during an A-League match the Stallions lost 8-0 as they claimed the title regardless. Combines the expected pace with considerable brawn.

4 - DM - Finn Townsend (

Shamrock Cathair) - Age 32 - 87 caps, 3 goals
C78 Galactico
A pure destroyer, with verve to burn. Is a game really complete without a caution? Oh, Townsend is nothing but dirt - and the occasional rocket at goal. Has emerged into a clear leadership figure, resolute in the centre of the pitch. Moving to unfashionable Celtade brought another level from him, and now he's at the peak of his powers.

7 - RW/AM/ST - Lauren Cheney (

C76 Galactico, C77 Golden Galactico
A street footballer at her heart, Cheney has a very un-Brenecian ego problem, and expresses it in very Brenecian passive-aggression and a need to work harder and better than anyone and everyone around her. Fast, tough, and with an eye for goal. Probably the best Brenecian player to have ever lived. Certainly according to herself. Little wonder they keep finding ways to crowbar her into the side.

8 - CM - Esther Caitiff (

Ulsa) - Age 28 - 75 caps, 17 goals
Expert at deft touches and ankle-taps, Caitiff combines a street-fighter's eye for sizing up an opponent with a devil-may-care attitude and the skill to live up to it. Somehow, Caitiff always finds herself embedded deep in the fray.

10 - LW - Katua Byrne (

KT Itzalovalle) - Age 18 - Uncapped
Byrne's got it all. Top-class pace, fully two-footed, even relishes defensive work pressing high. She's going to go far, and she knows it, forcing a move to Audioslavia to get away from pockmarked Brenecian pitches. Still, is she really ready for this level of competition?

11 - AM - Felicia Brind (

South Laithland) - Age 26 - 10 caps, 2 goals
Brind carries on the proud tradition of calling up someone born and raised in Nephara, though at least her incomprehensible Valeside drawl makes her less of an easy flashback to tattooed longbowmen. She's a deft, clever and diligent street footballer, deceptively fast and with an eye for goal.

Tall, lean and with a devilish cunning, Messenger is a genuine pest in the centre of the park, matching that to excellent technical attributes. She's not the greatest player in the world, or the squad, but she works hard enough to close the gap.

15 - RW - Mathgamain Fife (

Rozelle) - Age 24 - 16 caps, 4 goals
An industrious winger, Fife never stops running and never lets defenders feel comfortable. Direct to the point of tunnel vision, but his peerless pace and power combine to ensure he can batter his way through poor decisions and turn them into goals.

16 - LW - Fortune Russell (

AC Izotz Zubia) - Age 27 - 6 caps, 3 goals
Speed typical of a winger, combined with a target man's muscle and a willingness to throw it about. She's not soon forgotten by opposing fullbacks, and has exceeded all expectations for her ability to cut it at the top level; after all, she was seen as something of an afterthought when Zozi bought her.

22 - RW - Linoan Waters (

Istria City FC) - Age 27 - 33 caps, 11 goals
Waters never stopped looking a little bewildered to be at this level. But she scored a hat-trick on her international debut, and while that was mostly a power-play from the manager she's found her way back into the team as a relentlessly incisive winger.

23 - DM - Ronan Schofield (

Raynor City United) - Age 24 - 19 caps
An unnervingly commanding presence in the middle of the park, Schofield is oddly effortless in all his motions, whether in sweeping passes from flank to flank, or deftly bullying opponents out of possession. Time is honing him into an ever smoother, more confident player, and he's becoming a vital cog of the team.

Forwards
9 - ST - Mhacha White (

Farrenton Athletic) - Age 26 - 43 caps, 23 goals
Like Ursula Rankin, White made her way through FC Endeavour's overclocked reserves program, the Centre for Excellence, before seeking regular minutes elsewhere; like Ursula Rankin, she's a boxy poacher with a quick switch of pace and a great eye for turning. But she's tall. And might actually have a few more strings to her bow, too. The ride's been bumpier than she imagined, and yet, she remains.

14 - ST - Danand Tristram (

Northern Stallions) - Age 22 - Uncapped
A powerhouse up front, and a traditional target woman in a way that Brenecia haven't had since the underutilised Fox Charnwood. Tristram is the kind of relentless brawler that doesn't consider a game complete until her elbows have been in at least four faces. The goals are a nice bonus, too.

Lotus Park) - Age 24 - 3 caps, 1 goal
"If Cheney wants the number 7 back," Lyrick boasted last year, "she'll have to come and take it from me." She did. But Lyrick has at least proven she's a very capable striker, two-footed and seething with pace.[/box]

Reçueçn Roster & National Information

Sporting History

Reçueçn had just barely been in the World Cup long enough for people recognize the name, when it began to slip once more toward irrelevancy. The nation has had fewer opportunities than most to make forays into the world of international football. It Reçueçn debuted in the 59th Baptism of fire, before the 72nd World Cup, but accomplished very little before disappearing from international football for 10 cycles. However on its return, it made the most out of the chances it got.

During Reçueçn's absence from national sport in the interim, domestic sport in Reçueçn fell into disarray as well. Only semi-recently did things change, when a young legislative staffer named Jean-Luc Lassalle began an initiative to resurrect organized sport in the country with the government's assistance. The result of this push was the creation of the brand new Reçuecian Ministry of Sport, which promptly reorganized domestic association football leagues throughout the country and got things moving once more. Lassalle himself became the new Minister of Sport, despite his young age.

For the national team, this meant involvement once more in international competition. Reçueçn's first chance to declare its return came at the 7th Independent Associations' Championship. To the surprise of everyone, including its own fans, the unranked Reçuecian national team managed to win 3rd place, taking home its first silverware of any kind. The team itself largely consisted of the same squad that had partaken in the Baptism of Fire and World Cup qualifiers all of 10 World Cup cycles ago.

The team had struggled back then, due to the rivalries within Reçuecian domestic football, and those old wounds came back with the reestablishment of the national team. During the Baptism of Fire and Reçueçn's first international competitions, the players hadn't really had enough experience playing with each other to develop the necessary camaraderie or team spirit. Hopes were high that the creation of the Ministry of Sport would herald in a new era. Since the team was largely the same, some of the rivalries came back at first, but the team's performance at IAC 7 smoothed over its troubles and the team gelled.

Riding high on their third place finish in the IAC, the Reçuecians launched into their first qualification attempt since World Cup 73. This time, things were different: still officially unranked, Reçueçn miraculously managed to qualify for the world cup in its first attempt, even making it as far as the Round of 16. Reçueçn's first-time qualification and its consistent qualification since then is most likely the sporting accomplishment for which the nation is most known. The nation returned to the IAC even stronger and more confident; this time it knew what it was capable of, and it was hosting to boot. In its second IAC, Reçueçn got everything it could want: victory at home.

After that, the Reçuecians held steady but failed to make any meaningful advances. The nation didn't advance past the round of sixteen in either the IAC or the World Cup in either of the next two cycles. However, during IAC 11, things fell apart. With only a single victory in the first round, Les Licornes finished second-last in their group, a result that was dubbed a 'national embarassment' by Reçuecian news outlets. It was only the beginning of a downhill tumble: after coming second in its WC 87 group and losing its playoff to Pasarga, Reçueçn failed to make it to the World Cup for the first time since its return to soccer. National Coach Jacques Tremblay announced his retirement at the end of the cycle, and the next IAC was only another disappointment. Each tournament, the goal has been to 'turn things around,' but this is more important now than ever. That's been said before, but this is really the last chance to prove that missing the 87th World cup was just a fluke. Otherwise we will be able to conclusively say that the only thing to match Reçueçn's historically fast ascension to World Cup qualification was its equally fast descent.

National Team Information

L'Équipe Nationale de Reçueçn de Football is still in the process of making a name for itself, but if it's known for anything, it would be for its defensive style. This is partly due to the large influence of Reçueçn FC on the team—the most popular domestic club in Reçueçn plays about as defensive a game as you can imagine. This is balanced out to some extent by the players from other teams with more attacking philosophies, but the league as a whole tends towards defense, and it shows in the national team. Furthermore, Gerauld Firaut, the team's #1 goalie, is the best player on the team by a solid margin—without a doubt, Reçueçn's first world-class player. He and his defense form the foundation for the team as a whole.

National Team Logo

The team plays in a 4-3-3 formation, but sometimes the wings drop back, almost making it a 4-5-1. In general, the team's strategy and tactics are solid. However, the team is in managerial upheaval at the moment after the shock resignation of its head coach, Jacques Tremblay. Tremblay had guided the team ever since its Baptism of Fire, but was also very old. He had prepared for stepping down by appointing Bonheur Relié as assistant coach, whose fiery personality contrasted Tremblay's gentler wisdom. Tremblay was always more popular with the players than Relié, and now that he is gone, the team may once again struggle to coalesce.

The Reçueçian National Team's mascot is the unicorn; thus another name for the team is "les licornes". The fantastical creature has been a symbol of Reçueçn for almost two millennia and is also the national animal, appearing as the supporters in the national coat of arms.

The team's kit represents the colors of the flag in a quite literal fashion. The jersey was redesigned a few cycles ago, replacing the first one les licornes ever wore, dating back to the 59th Baptism of Fire. Fans who thought the old outfit ugly are excited to see the team play wearing its new uniforms, and feel that they are now represented much more professionally.

Reçueçn has only one stadium in which its national team plays, located in the capital city (also named Reçueçn). Never having been given an official title, the national stadium is usually simply referred to just that: The National Stadium, or in French, the local language, the Stade Nationale. Coaching Staff

Bonheur Relié: Passionate and motivated, Relié had all the youthful energy you'd hope for in the assistant coach of a side whose manager was pushing three quarters of a century. Sometimes his energy was a bit much and he's had some friction with the players in the past. Now that he's head manager that will have to be resolved.

Ägidius Heissler: Used to play as a left wing for Itrino. After retiring as a player he signed for the National Team as Paraclete, taking a promotion to Assistant Manager in the wake of Tremblay's resignation. If Relié was the bad cop to Tremblay's good cop, with Tremblay gone, Heissler fills the good cop role.

Starters

Gerauld Firaut: The face of Reçuecian football. Mature, talented, humble. Firaut, team captain, provides the leadership on the pitch that les licornes need, and the fact that he's such a nice guy when he's not playing soccer helps cement him as the nation's favored son. As some of his Reçueçn FC have retired or not been called up for this tournament, his exceptional goal-tending skills combined with Tremblay's strategy has preserved the team's defensive nature.

Emanuele Cutrona: Cutrona was in the first batch of call-ups for the National Team after the original Baptism of Fire squad, and he's still one of the younger players on the team. Until Di Martino's call-up, he was the only Italian-speaking player on the team (although others are from Italian-speaking clubs). He's developed a strong friendship with Franky Adams, which often leads to the pair of them getting in trouble.

Paulin Bourguignon: Bourguignon is the kind of defensive player who is always trying to clear the ball with long shots and score goals at corner kicks. Big on counter-attacks, he sometimes outpaces the mid-fielders, usually to his coach's dismay.

Lukas Kayserling: Very tall. Calm and controlled. Sometimes has difficulty communicating as he doesn't speak English or French as well as most of the other team members.

Oliver Spencer: Annother star defensive player, now playing for Brinemouth, Spencer is often outshone by Firaut, and for a long time Spencer couldn't decide whether the rivalry he thought they had was more important than team spirit or not. By now he has found his groove as part of the all-important back line.

Raoul Lavigne: No relation of the slightly more well-known Hippolyte Lavigne, Raoul is the second sophomore of the team: not one of the original squad but not a brand-new call-up either. He caught the NT's scouts' eyes after helping Bonneville Sportif to a couple good seasons. (He now plays in Baker Park.) Playing outside the nation has given him new things to worry about, namely, if his teammates leave him out of things since he's not a 'local' anymore. He doesn't realize how ridiculous his fears are, but fortunately they push him to prove himself every time he steps onto the field.

Harold Saunders: Saunders is synonymous with an aggressive style of play, especially in the midfield. He seems to always be able to find a way to give the ball to Franky. On and off the field he is emotionally well-balanced, usually rather stoic and unmoved.

Maynard Hebron: The unsung hero of the Assalto Alpino, Hebron is a great proponent of football development across Recuecn, especially on behalf of the smaller amateur teams that have recently joined the FNRF. Hebron often gets lucky with long shots from the edge of the box when the strikers are unable to really get open right in front of goal.

Per Tegeler: Good at receiving the ball from the defense or mid-field, trapping it in general, and taking it into the 18-yard box and shooting. Possible weakness is passing: either he doesn't, or it's long air balls. Per is the big change to the line-up since the world cup—the aging Hippolyte Lavigne was not called up again, and so now Tegeler is starting.

Frank "Franky" Adams: Young, extremely talented, and rather cocky, Franky, who plays for Association Genève in the LNRF, really makes their team. When he has a bad shooting streak, his team has a losing streak, and vice versa, and he knows it. At Association Genève, the team and the fans love him. At the national team, they tolerate him—his rivalries with Reçueçn FC's players cause tension which Coach Tremblay must try to defuse. Tremblay, incidentally, thinks Franky is a bit conceited, although he is still one of the most aware of his talent. Franky is definitely the second most famous player on the team, at least to Reçueians. His role up front helps with that, obviously.

Freeman Lebo: Lebo can score goals, is highly motivated, and persevering. He's comfortable in the striker role. However, he is high-strung and not too difficult to offend, traits which, when combined with his overestimation of his own skill, can make him difficult to get along with. Has lots of potential when a manager can get him to swallow his pride, and Tremblay usually can. Lebo and Franky got off to a rocky start but since then they've really meshed well, and they give each other great service often leading to one of them scoring.

Reserves

Estienne de Chefderue: Both of les licornes' reserve goalies were recently replaced, and de Chefderue got the number one number two spot. A couple seasons ago at FC Harrim he did well, and he got some practice in the Eagles Cup when Tremblay subbed him into a lot of matches. It remains to be seen how he'll fare in a tournament that means a bit more as since then he still hasn't seen a lot of time on the pitch.

Hagen Groos: A Reçueçn FC representative, yet again: Groos is sweeper for the club, which is supposedly the best in the country. It's probably confusing for him then why the starting sweeper position is handed to the younger Cutrona rather than him.

Jayson Compton: Not a ton to say about Jayson Compton. He's a mysterious fellow and we don't quite know what he's up to ourselves.

Quirino Lucian: Lucian has the look of a rugby player, and he'll take all the intimidation he can get from that: he needs people to know he's not afraid to muscle them down as they approach his goal—because he's not. He'll mess you up.

Barnabus Mercer: Called up for the first time at twenty-seven years old after doing very well in le championnat, some people questioned this decision of Tremblay's. Certainly it was the strongest on paper, so we'll see how it pans out. If you can believe it, Mercer played for a San Lleran club team more than ten world cups ago.

Robert Chéreau: Chéreau's biggest issue is that he tends to drift toward the center when he shouldn't, yet he ironically seems to have a very good idea of space and where to be in it, which is good for a player in his position.

Grégoire Leclair: Leclair almost never plays at the same time as Saunders. Usually, one is subbed for the other depending on whether more defensive or offensive tactics are called for at the moment. Leclair's specialty is going back and clearing the ball in difficult situations. There were thoughts Leclair wouldn't be called up this year, which would've been major news, but I guess he's been doing well enough in Savojarna for Tremblay.

Quentin Gouin: The team's new youngest player, he has breath and speed and agility. The stamina is sometimes lacking.

Marc Schöner: Schöner is the latest call-up, replacing Tegeler on the bench now that Tegeler is starting. He's fresh from winning le championnat with his club (Stomford 1904), so he's got all the energy and drive you could ask for, along with all the pride and self-assuredness.

Ly Nasser: Loves to shoot from far out, and often shoots high. Despite this, he makes up for it with his sheer number of shots. Incredibly aggressive, and loved by Zimmerich fans. Thinks he is one of the best strikers in the world, and he certainly is a good player. Weirdly he gets put on the Reçuecian reserves, you'd expect him to be playing with Lebo and Franky.

Jean-Baptiste Brochard: Immensely fast, especially with the ball, Brochard is weaker in set pieces and organized attacks. His strength is the counter-attack and the breakaway.

Calanico Di Martino: Unfortunately Di Martino's given name doesn't quite just mean 'soccer,' although it is close. His parents must have known there was something special about him. He has a toe that moves with wings—useful for delivering powerful goal kicks but perhaps wasted on a player who never gets to shoot.

Reçuecian History and Culture

The nation of Reçueçn was created in the first half of the XIV^th century, when Carl Blancpic, Duke of the Duchy of Reçueçn, launched a breakneck military campaign invading and annexing many of his neighbors to the east. Before this time, Reçueçn had been only a city, built on the heights overlooking the junction of the Rhône and Saône rivers. These heights had been settled by Carl Blancpic's distant ancestor, Ifheda Rcuecn, near the end of the II^nd century a.d., and had born his name ever since. The area at that time belonged to the Roman Empire, who had established their regional administrative center, Lugdunum, on the other side of the river.

In 197 a.d., a decisive battle was fought near Lugdunum in one of the civil wars for the throne of the empire. The victor, Septimius Severus, razed the city of Lugdunum and destroyed it, stripping from it all imperial privileges in punishment for supporting his rival. This was the end for Lugdunum, but it was the beginning for Reçueçn. Refugees flocked across the river to join the settlement, and the city of Reçueçn grew to become a smallish regional center. Rcuecn's descendants (who changed the spelling to Reçueçn) maintained control over what became the Duchy of Reçueçn for 700 years, until it was inherited by their cousins the Blancpics who reigned for another 300 years.

At the beginning of the XIV^th century, power passed into the hands of Carl Blancpic, who was partially insane and a megalomaniac. Thus he declared his duchy to be a kingdom and singled out weak neighbors who he invaded with audacity. Over an incredibly short period of time beginning in the spring of 1337, he had carved out for himself a sizable dominion.

Carl, who styled himself "Carl III of Reçueçn", was violent, unstable, and petty. He was also wildly unpopular with the populations of the various states he had conquered. Although the central power structure helped the economy of the new Kingdom of Reçueçn to some extent, it did not bring with it all the stability that might have been expected. This was mostly due to the decrees of Carl III, who, among other things, began a campaign to persecute and kill all "heretics" within his new realm. Most historians agree that this was in fact a thinly veiled purge of his political rivals. This and other policies he enacted on his whims finally drove the people into open revolt sometime around 1352.

Carl managed to hold on to power for a couple years by hiring mercenaries, but in 1254 lost two key battles and was captured by the rebels. By this time, the rebellion was led by feudal lords throughout the country who had sided with the people against their tyrant king. Carl III was executed, and the kingdom dissolved into a mess of tiny, independent feudal holdings.

No sooner had the various states that had been in the Kingdom of Reçueçn won their independence, than infighting broke out among them. The feudal lords squabbled over power and influence, trying vainly to imitate Carl's meteoric rise to power. This new violence, combined with the economic downturn associated with the rebellion and the breakup of the nation, clearly displayed how poorly things were turning out. More sensible minds came to the decision that the solution was to once more unify Reçueçn.

On November 19, 1356, therefore, The Allied States of Reçueçn came into being. The leaders of all the petty states, duchies, bishoprics, free cities, etc., came together and signed what are known as "The Treaties of the Alliance," a document just powerful enough to classify Reçueçn as a single nation by most people's definition, rather than a group of independent entities. The treaties also established a rough form of democracy, with each state represented (although typically by its aristocracy). Thus Reçueçn lays claim to being one of the oldest democracies in the world.

The treaties defined much of Reçuecian history to come. Provisions were made to establish freedom of religion, in order to avoid another scenario similar to Carl III's persecution of his opponents. The treaties also gave Reçueçn an isolationist bent. The nation had been burned before, and wouldn't soon try to meddle in external affairs, especially when its composite nature made creating a foreign policy so difficult.

Reçueçn, then, has managed to avoid many of the crises of European history. It's darkest moment came when Napoleon invaded, proclaiming himself emperor (although he allowed Reçueçn's government to continue to function under his reign). The allied states have drawn closer together, although cultural differences remain among them; they don't even all speak the same language.

Reçueçian culture has also been shaped by its location, nestled in the center of the Alps. The difficulty of travel among mountain valleys ensured the cultural diversity of the nation and preserved local customs. Although rural communities did center around agriculture—especially dairy production—many Reçuecian were forced by the lack of arable land to find other work. This led to a culture of innovation that continues today: Reçueçn is now known for its luxury products and technological exports. This has additionally led to a focus on science and education. The relatively diverse nature of Reçueçn's culture means that some areas are culturally more time-oriented while others are more task-oriented, but this fusion has given the country a uniqueness, especially in art. Reçueçn, perhaps thanks to its inland, mountainous location, or the fact that it was never a colonial power, has seen little immigration or emigration. Recently, however, the diversity of language spoken in the country has made it attractive to refugees from other areas where those languages are spoken.

Visiting Reçueçn

Reçueçn is a small nation, but it's got a lot to see. If you're visiting for World Cup qualification, you may want to extend your stay to see the sights.

Travelling to and in Reçueçn
Most travelers to Reçueçn will fly into Reçueçn city. As the capital and largest city, it will definitely have the flight connection you need. Genève, the nation's second city, will also accommodate you in this regard, but all the games will be happening in Reçueçn. If you are travelling from a nearby country, arriving by rail is also a possibility, and many more Reçuecian cities have international rail connections than have international airports.

For travel within the country, taking the train is probably the way to go. Car rentals are fairly expensive, and many cities restrict downtown access to pedestrians and public transport. When travelling through the countryside, you will find that autoroutes have high tolls, and smaller roads are typically wind annoyingly through steep mountain terrain. However, there is an extensive rail and tunnel network, and taking the train is fairly cheap between most places in the nation. Bus routes also connect most larger towns. Within cities themselves, public transport is always very high quality and usually very affordable or in some cities, even free. A few bus lines are temporarily free to travel during the tournament, in a government-led effort to promote tourism and encourage visitors to explore the country beyond just the soccer matches.

What to See
Presumably if you're reading this, the main attraction that has brought you to Reçueçn is World Cup qualification. All the games will be played just a short bus ride away from Reçueçn International Airport at the National Stadium in Reçueçn's inner suburbs. But if you want to see a bit more of the nation, consider taking a ride up to a cute alpine village and hiking along a mountain ridge to appreciate the amazing views we have to offer. Or take a swim in a mountain lake and cool off in the shadow of the peaks. If you really are looking to ditch the heat, check out the ice tunnels at the Écho glaciers. Try it at a restaurant where each table is provided with its own small oven so each diner can melt their own. Another local specialty is tartiflette, essentially a casserole of potatoes, onions, and lardon (thick-cut bacon) served with a slab of, you guessed it, more melted cheese cooked right over it.

If rather than in a seat at a fine dining establishment, you find yourself in an alpine pasture hankering for a pique-nique, don't worry. Cheese is great for a basket-lunch too. Bring along a baguette and a saucisson, and you've got yourself a meal.

No meal in Reçueçn is complete without a glass of wine, and the local product is certainly worth the connoisseur's time. Reçuecian wine varies immensely depending on whether you're south, west, or north of the Alps, so try a few varieties and pick your favorite. If you need a pairing for your meal, it just so happens that every single person you meet on the street in the country is a self-proclaimed expert ready with helpful advice. Acastanha or Federation of Acastanha is a country located in northeast part of Melayu Mainland in Melayu Archipelago. It has a land border with Kayangan to the southwest and Sendhang to its south. And another maritime border with Freechi to the southeast. The country is just recently participated in Melayu Archipelago sports competition notably in football. Entered at 5th edition of Melayu Archipelago Cup for their international competition debut in which they were able to reached quarterfinal. Their second attempt in 6th Melayu Archipelago Cup makes them reached semifinal for the first time. They are being defeated by Sharktail. In 7th edition, they are lost to Ziwana in quarterfinal. Begin their international career at Baptism of Fire 74th, this World Cup is their second participation. In their first participation, they are ended in 6th placed of the Qualification Group Stage.

For the national team, Head Coach, Manuel Archanankar have called several new players. This moved is coincided with the progress of each clubs in the domestic competition. Archanankar will select the best players possible for each position to make a better squad. The selection involves 32 teams in the 2 top level of Acastanhada domestic leagues and also the cup competition.

The roster and formation is not too different from the one in CE29, or other line ups in past world cups. The personnel are trending young in key positions with twenty three years the average age of all players, and an average age of around twenty four and three quarters when just counting the best twenty three. The Rekan team looks to plow forward with the ball progressively. Attacking starts with ball playing center backs. The tight midfield will pass until they can work the ball into the box. If the possession happy trio of Stani Gröss, Stanimir Rekawić, and veteran captain Želmir Kolarowić can’t control the action on their own, they will look to the wingbacks for assistance. Scoring threats include the ever quick and instinctual Bogdan Rawić and the always courageous Arnald Gal, sometimes at just the right microsecond. Of course any attacking midfielder will also be able to get on the scoring sheet as the center forward dips back a decent amount of times each match. Kolarowić already does so a lot, and Marko Zup has been involved in a scoring play in almost every matchup he’s been capped in so far.

Should the side lose control of the game, they’ll look to quickly regain the ball and apply physical pressure at every moment of the match. The players of the defensive line high while the forwards play deep to unbalance the opponents structure. Off-ball play will be a mix of graceful positioning and brutal tackles. Some cards may be handed out, but Stanimirić hope they won't deal with any bad suspensions without some kind of gain. Over the course of pre tournament friendlies writers at RekanSport who covered the matches noticed a strength in executing offside traps. Prime defender Tito Jankoslawić was not selected for the national team's main twenty three in protest of his decision to sign for a league ranked far below Zeta Reka in the IFCF rankings. Youngster Anubis Zlatkowić will get a chance to prove himself, as will Hermann Hamppe who is still trying to earn a prime spot in the depth chart. The last line of defense is the keeper, and three solid sweeping goalies have been selected as Wukowić and Wasić continue to battle for the starting role.

The team will look to crowd the box in set pieces such as corners, starter Jad is a known corner threat, even winning a Campeonato matchup with a ninety degree goal. Other key kickers are Rawić and Kolarowić. Players like those two, plus Wlad Wlad, Jad and Arnald Gal have a good chance to score off other players' work. When defending, a lot of players will duck inside the box, but Rawić will be kept out to increase the chance of a breakaway.

Kits

Again the top sportswear manufacturer headquartered in Zeta Reka Čast was commissioned for the World Cup. Čast defeated bids from other companies to be the kit makers for the Federal Football Federation. This time, Čast incarnated Zeta Reka and Hügeltaldom’s colors into the national team’s wears, but also the country itself. former national team starter Mullow Dorboslawić commented on on twii.tur that “It is hard to notice on the red" in reference to the outline of Zeta Reka affixed onto the home shirt. Čast’s new CEO Iwana Filipić stated in a company press release the business was “More than pleased” with the accepted contract and that, “A bright future was ahead for both Čast and its national team in Zeta Reka.”

You are roleplaying against me, and you want to…

Do the absolute bare minimum.

You’ve won 3 – 0 and want the match account to reflect that. Or you’ve lost 3 – 0 but want to make it seem like the scoreline wasn’t a fair reflection. Or you’re determined that you got the better of a 0 – 0 draw. All perfectly fine! Here are some guidelines:

Your players are probably faster and more skilful than mine. Clever tricks, smooth attacking moves, and sheer pace may often be successful.
My players are probably bigger and stronger than yours. I’d prefer you didn’t RP your team physically dominating mine, but of course you’re welcome to have some exceptions to this and win various match-ups.
If we didn’t score much, maybe Jason had an off-day and spent the game sulking in your penalty box. We’re very dependent on set-pieces: maybe Hanne or Amanda were way off target with their shots and crosses.
If we conceded lots of goals, there may have been some howlers from the goalkeeper. Playing it out from the back usually misfires for us. Feel free to have an own goal or seven.
If you want your star player to do really well against us, that’s fine! My players should not be portrayed as miserably incompetent but otherwise you can construct any narrative you like around beating us – or deserving to do so.

You’re down in the doldrums after a defeat and decide you want to portray us as much better. You feel guilty for winning and want to provide some balance. You like being the underdog and want to set up us being better so that when we meet again your victory will be all the sweeter. Or you’re just a masochist. Again, completely fine! Here are some suggestions:

My players are probably bigger and stronger than yours. We may have won the physical battle. Please don’t play us as brutally violent, but if you want to have us getting away with some rough stuff, especially from the center backs or defensive midfielders, that’s cool.
My players are probably not quicker or more skilful than yours. It’s unlikely we won through implementation of the beautiful game. Maybe Jason or Amanda or Sara had a crazy good day, but most of the time we’ll win through grind, determination, and sheer brute force.
If we scored a lot of goals, a lot of them probably came from set-pieces. Direct or indirect free-kicks, big fellas heading in corners.
If we kept a clean sheet, it was more likely a good collective defensive effort than a great day for our keeper.
We won’t blatantly cheat, but things like home crowd favoritism influencing the referee are acceptable.

Græntfjall is a modern, commercial trading nation with three very busy port cities. We’ve also recently built a new cosmodrome. Perhaps you’d like to negotiate a trade deal, buy some commercial spaceflight time, or arrange tourist visa reciprocity?
Græntfjall is currently engaged in military operations in two countries [OOC: both my puppets]. In Jabal Akhdar, they’re supporting a rival claimant to the throne in order to protect their oil rights; in Montaña Verde, they’re trying to destabilise the leftist government and fight off a Marxist insurgency. Your tourists might visit our country for the football match, but that only lasts 90 minutes. During the rest of their stay, they might enjoy music: Græntfjall has a strong operatic tradition while in more modern music, metal is massively popular, there’s a big folk revival, and G-pop, dream-poppish synth-influenced baroque pop, has its audience. Perhaps some different sports appeal more: basketball is surging in popularity and ice hockey remains the main national winter sport. Kang has been in the role for two years, and while his home country of Yuezhou has seen great change in that time, the Snow Wolves haven’t progressed that much, failing to advance past the Round of 16 of the Copa Rushmori yet again, finishing in the upper half of their World Cup group yet again. Reaching the Cup of Harmony quarterfinals is his best result to date and that run probably saved his career for another World Cup cycle, but a failure to at least challenge for the playoffs here would probably mean curtains for the experiment with him at the helm. More attacking than his predecessor, he’s utilized the Snow Wolves’ fitness and positional versatility to emphasize a hard-pressing, counter-attacking style that’s not always pretty but can be frustratingly effective. Under him, the team have played in a variety of formations with 3 or 4 at the back, but appear to be settling in to 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 or 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 as their natural defaults. Former national U-18 coach Oliversson remains as assistant and Fu Xieren, an immigrant of Yuezhouese extraction hired to provide translation when needed, remains as blatant Græntfjaller intelligence services plant.

The team has adopted a slightly more fluid, attacking identity of late, reflecting a shift to a more balanced, less negative system. Defensive substitutions, such as bringing on defensive midfielders and center backs late on in games with a narrow lead, can still be expected some of the time.

Squad: This is a longlist squad pool, from which each matchday a 23-person squad will be drawn. In practical terms, the player listed first at each position is most likely the starter, second the substitute, third and lower the non-playing reserve, etc. However, if I have not specified the squad or lineup, you may choose from this squad as you see fit in terms of RPing the team you play against. Græntfjaller teams usually start those wearing 1-11, but there are a couple of exceptions: if Hanne starts, she will wear 14; Tom 17; and Álfar 19. No numbers are retired and the starting goalkeeper will always wear 1.

The Græntfjaller Premier League is gender-mixed and it is seen as uncontroversial for men and women to play alongside each other. -son names are men, -dóttir names women, -bur names gender-neutral (they/them/their). If you find female players immersion breaking, you have my permission to choose an all-male side from the squad.
The financial status of football in Græntfjall is improving, and million+ NS$ contracts are increasingly common. Because the GPL isn’t especially strong, most NT players and hopefuls ply their trade abroad. I normally conduct transfers through the Transfer Window but if you have a desire to sign a player and a particulary storyline in mind I may be open to arranging a transfer outside that; send a TG/DM.
In general, Græntfjaller players are athletic and have excellent whole-match fitness, disciplined, and not prone to violence or emotional outbursts. They are, however, not tremendously skilled. The stereotypical Græntfjaller player is a BFG, Big Fucking Græntfjaller, with big referring to their body, not their brain. The main exceptions are Jason (strong and fit but also fairly skilled, but a bit headstrong and moody); Amanda (skilful, emotionally balanced, but lacking in size and strength), and Sara (incredibly fast and athletic, with every skill and then a few she invented herself, but a completely wild, mercurial temperament).
Græntfjall did not traditionally appoint a designated captain, and instead had the starting XI elect a captain before each captain, but this tradition has largely been abandoned, with Hrærekur Jvarsson serving as captain on a permanent basis. Should he be injured, suspended, or otherwise absent, they will default to an elective model, and if I have not specified a captain, you may pick should you wish.
Timing note: In my timeline this occurs 2 years after the last WC/CoH, 1 year after the CR, and a few months after the Eagle’s Cup, Under-18 World Cup and Di Bradini Cup. It occurs after the completion of Transfer Window 31 and during the next season of the GPL; any players on foreign teams will be assumed to be given leave.

Kauko is more or less the man in possession of the #1 jersey, but Græntfjall’s goalkeeping plans have been unsettled for some time. Christian seems the stronger keeper but has a horror show every few games that has led to trust in him eroding; Björnólfur is the brightest prosect but still deemed a bit raw for full internationals. That leaves Kauko as the default option: a capable shot stopper but not the best at managing his defensive lines. He has a huge boot and powerful throw but zero footballing skills; in general playing it out from the back is not a common tactic in Græntfjall and all keepers are far more likely to hoof it upfield and hope the BFGs get to it first than risk playing with their feet.

Center back is the team’s traditional strength, led by the increasingly assured Hjörleifur Reynarsson, who serves as a virtual co-captain with his Steinaux teammate. A strong season in the Flavovovovovovovovespian league has seen Vigfús Bensson – also formerly of Steinaux; what do they feed them there!? – emerge as first-choice partner ahead of Tom Ernestisson, who’s sufficiently versatile to still see plenty of playing time. Fullbacks Elektra Lúthersdóttir and Emeli Vilbertsdóttir return after their controversial omission from the Copa Rushmori, but expect the team to still try out formations with 3 center backs and 0 fullbacks at some point; Mathias Kristersson is the most likely to come in then. There’s huge competition at the center back position and lots of talented youngsters are likely to be given a chance to shine; Reynarsson played every minute of World Cup 87 qualifying and that certainly won’t be the case this time after complaints from his club.

Græntfjall have settled into a pattern of using three central midfielders: a defensive/holding player, typically manned by the physically powerful Álfar Ásvaldursson or the downright scary Kalle Bjørnsson; a hustling box-to-box central man, usually Hrærekur Jvarsson; and an attacking distributor in a more forward role, which has suited Amanda Guttisdóttir much better than the deep-lying role she was consigned to under the previous coach. A triumvirate of promising young women – Johanna, Jade and Natasja – all are increasingly fighting for places, without any of them quite fitting into those pre-defined roles. The wildcard in the pack is Sara Kristoffersdóttir: picked as a teenager, she was too callow for full internationals then, but leadership of the U-21 team and a standout performance at the Eagle’s Cup have suggested an improvement in her maturity levels. If she’s ready for the top, then she’s a creative dynamo; if not, she’s a combustible disaster-in-waiting.

Wingers zipping up the lines and whipping in crosses for assorted big targets have been key to Græntfjall’s system in recent years, and remain so here. Lana, quicker and more versatile than Bríana, has been preferred on the right after breaking through in the S-FPL, while on the left Hanne has become an important player not only for her skills from open play but also her dangerous free-kicks as an alternate to Amanda. The team may occasionally use a system without wingers, relying instead of fullbacks pushing forward.

Jason has adapted well to the move to a lone striker system. Tall and powerful, he’s not the quickest or more skilful striker in the world but he’s probably one of the strongest, and can hold an attacking role without needing a second striker to play off. A natural goal scorer, the main knock is his tendency to hot-headed aggression or sulking apathy when things aren’t going his way. Less of a prima donna is Justiina, who’s dealt with losing her starting role as 10 as the system no longer fits her with admirable grace, regularly featuring off the bench or deputizing at 9. Eiríka has played in a variety of roles even if 9 suits her best; Ásvarður, Lyngar and Rato are all big-bodied target men without Jason’s touch. Expect lots of rotation among the forwards.

Home arena and country

Unless otherwise stated, national games happen at the Grand National Arena (cap.: 50,000) in north Háttmark, or the Grander International Arena (cap.: 50,001), also in north Háttmark. The stadiums will alternate hosting rights, beginning with the GNA. Games in Græntfjall will be played in the summer so expect cool weather, but not heavy snow. The qualifying games overlap with the GPL season and with a national general election. I will happily provide extra world-building information if you have any questions about what to expect when visiting Græntfjall.

OFFICIAL ROSTER FOR WORLD CUP 88

Starters:
GK: #1- Matthew Costner (28, Centralia Firebirds)
-- Playing with defensively minded Centralia, Costner was able to raise his national profile quickly, enabling him to first appear as the starter in World Cup 86. He is in prime of his career right now, and after finishing 3rd with the Rockets in the last Cup of Harmony, followed by finishing second in the Campionato Esportiva, many hope that he can carry this momentum into World Cup 88 qualifying.

LB: #2- Shannon Stefansson (29, Starksville United, Cassadaigua)
-- Manager Michael Starre made an effort to be all inclusive when it came to gender when announcing the last roster, and that paid dividends with the brilliant performance of the tall blonde fullback. Don’t fall for her appearance, though, because she is also is tall and swift on her feet, and incredible awareness overall. Expected to assume more of a leadership role than she has had in the past. Recently signed on with Starksville United, based in Cassadaigua.

LCB: #24- Damian Andrews (22, Seminole Bay Gators)
-- Damian is one of the newcomers to the starting lineup for World Cup 88. He appeared in World Cup 87 as a reserve and did get into one game for a brief period of time, but this is his first time in this role. He was a sub in CE 29. Has great speed and also adds a physical element to the team. If this does not work out well, then Eric Trotman could return to the starting lineup, but right now Andrews is be given the opportunity.

RCB: #5- Brian Conlin (26, Walstreim Lions, South Newlandia)
-- This is the best defender on the team, with all of the tools that you want in this position. He has also been able to elevate his game when playing for the Rockets at this level in the past. Initially a member of the North Charlotte Wildcats, he recently signed on with the powerful Walstreim side, based in South Newlandia. This will only serve to make him an even better player.

RB: #3- Nick Blades (27, Springfield Thoroughbreds)
-- This is the first time that Nick will be in the starting lineup for the World Cup, but he has started in the Campionato Esportiva in the past. Blades has all the defensive awareness that you want from this position, but also has excellent speed. Some joke that he would be a forward if he knew how to shoot.

LM: #6- Parnell Addington (32, Jessicaville Millionaires)
-- Addington has thrived since signing a huge contract with the Millionaires, and he has not sat on his bank account afterwards. He has only continued to get better, and will be making the most of this opportunity because once you get to this age, you can never be certain if you will be back for another one. He is listed as a midfielder on paper, but Michael Starre likes to be aggressive with him, so expect to see him up front quite often.

CM: #8- Paul Lombardi (32, Pocono City Capitals) (TEAM CAPTAIN)
-- He is a complete player, in any third of the field. Named the captain of the team after having that role for two seasons with the Capitals, something that is a special honor. Like Addington, he is more of a playmaker than a shooter, and also knows that this could be his last World Cup. His size allows him to win most one on one battles at home. Was brilliant during World Cup 86 and Cup of Harmony 79.

RM: #7- Madison Desalvo (28, Southport Tigers)
-- The second female in the starting lineup, Madison is the leading female scorer in the Empire, which is impressive considering that she does not play up front. Her shot is powerful, but the fact that she delivers it with pinpoint accuracy is what makes her a great one. Not the leading scorer of the team, but has a reputation of getting the goals that she does score in clutch situations.

LS: #9- Garrett Sarniak (22, Loudon Leopards)
-- Despite his age, Sarniak impressed Michael Starre enough to put him on the last World Cup team, and he did well in both World Cup 87 and Cup of Harmony 79. That continued in the Campionato Esportiva, so the hope is that it will only continue to trend in the right direction. Of the three forwards, he has the most speed.

ST: #10- Allister Levy (29, Putnam Lake Eagles)
-- Originally named McAllister, after Jeremy McAllister, but he opted to drop the “Mc” from his first name when he turned 16. The parallels to Newmanistan’s greatest ever soccer player did not stop when he was drafted by Putnam Lake, and he immediately became a fan favorite. He is a goal scorer, trying to pattern his game off of Jeremy. He’s not at that level, but not many people will be.

RS: #15- Ryan Singletary (28, Tundra Falls Mariners)
-- Sometimes, if you continue to play well, the coaches will have no choice but to give you a more common chance. Ryan, is a little shorter than most strikers will be, but he still has plenty of strength, and plays with a lot of heart. He was known as super-sub for us in the last World Cup, and then in the CE. With Vinny Donaldson being a little inconsistent, Starre is giving Singletary an opportunity. This could be a short leash, for now, the job is his.

Regular Substitutes:
GK: #21- Masahiro Kawasaki (23, Daytopia Racers)
-- Promoted from reserve to starter. Is best known for his agility, and they are excited in Daytopia for where he may take them. The small market team insists that they will not let him get away, and will open up the checkbook for him, if necessary.

CB: #4- Eric Trotman (31, Dover City Mountaineers)
-- Tall and physical. Holds his position very well, and opposing forwards will have a tough time dealing with him. If there is an issue with him, it is that he can sometimes take fouls and cards out of frustration late in a game if the team is behind, which happens in Dover City a little more than he would like. The fans there love the physical element more than most, so they do not mind it. He’s been a starter, and is downgraded for this World Cup. Still, expect him to see a lot of playing time.

CB: #22- Alexander Carson (25, Loudon Leopards)
-- In Loudon, he clicked well with Shannon Stefansson in the back, prior to her moving on to Cassadaigua. This is the first time that he has ever appeared on a World Cup roster, though debuted with the national team in the CE.

MID: #13- Ashley Norton (28, Southport Tigers)
-- Creative playmaker, lacking in size but makes up for it in skill. The first choice sub for the midfield position.

MID: #16- Kevin Hynes (27, Olympia Gladiators)
-- This is his first World Cup. Debuted in CE 29 as a reserve.

ST: #14- Kenzie Miller (31, Springfield Thoroughbreds)
-- Gave up playing soccer after high school to pursue a baseball career in college. That went okay, but after not getting drafted, she joined an independent soccer club, and was a woman among girls (and boys). At 24, she signed with Springfield, and her career has continued to improve.

ST: #12- Tyler Callaway (20, North Charlotte Wildcats)
-- Tall and speedy, but needs to bulk up to fully reach his potential. Fortunately, he is only 20, so there is time to do this. Tyler has never appeared on the international roster at any point previously.

Manager- Michael Starre (Drawkland)
Michael enters his first full cycle as the manager of the Rockets after replacing Miguel Hernandez after matchday 8 in World Cup 85 qualifying. Starre did well, but it was a tough adjustment for him to bring immediate results. He was brought here to bring in someone who had experience in getting a team to qualify for the World Cup, something that he was able to do with Drawkland. In World Cup 77, he got Drawkland to qualify on their first attempt, and managed to do so in the next three World Cups as well. In World Cup 86, he got the free pass into the World Cup, but the team won the group, and reached the round of 16 for just the second time in Newmanistanian history. Despite not qualifying out of the Group of Death in World Cup 87, he led the team to a third place effort in the Cup of Harmony, and because of that, there was never a question as to whether or not he would be back. Helping his cause further was the recent runner up performance in CE 29. For World Cup 88, he probably has to have the team qualify in order to keep his job, especially with us not being in the kind of qualifying group that we were in last time.

Interested in a Newmanistanian player to transfer to your domestic league?
– The Empire of Newmanistan Soccer League (ENSL) provides an opportunity for our best soccer players to make a good living and pays them fairly enough, so it’s not as if these players are not making good money and living a good life with good enough fan support. However, soccer, or as you may say, football, is not as big in Newmanistan in comparison to other sports. Therefore, they are likely to be convinced and interested in the prospects of playing in a league with a higher profile. Ones that do those domestic club competitions. If you are interested in a player, simply TG me and it is highly likely I will say yes as long as I consider your league to be at least equivalent to the ENSL. If you’re just developing your league and are interested, I ask that you target subs and reserves first. Those transfers will probably be accepted.

Abanhfleft's always trying to go back to the same level of relevancy to the greater multiverse of football that they had back in the 70s (of World Cups, that is). Here's yet another attempt to do it through the World Cup qualifiers. Bronwyn is the daughter of Rosenpfelblatz City's new manager Joseph "Joe" Churchill, one of the most decorated managers in the sport within the Fleftic sphere of influence. Bronwyn came with her dad to Rosenpfelblatz and immediately settled in well with the Lady Sky Blues' academy. She is a traditional keeper who prefers to keep close to goal and catch or slap away shots from that position, although she is learning to become a more athletic keeper now that she's training with the likes of Yannie Redborne, Marfa Kirilenko, and Blaze Chrzanowska. She's been elevated to starting goalie because Stephanie Bryan is off playing for the over-35 national team in the World Cup of Masters in Sarzonia.

RB: Colleen ADAMS 32 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Women

There was a time when people wondered what Colleen can offer to the national side. Seven years on and now we know what it is: defensive solidity in the back four. What more can a team ask for then? Well, maybe less yellow and red cards from Colleen. She's had her fair share of those at club level and the SFA is not really keen on her starting up a new account with the referees at the Independents Cup.

RCB: Christy SHEPLEY 29 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Women

At 6 feet 2 inches, Christy is already one of the tallest 17-year-old Fleftic central defenders ever in the Democratic Republic and its sphere of influence. Coupled with a supernatural defensive ability, it's a wonder why she's still on the bench and not starting, until one realizes that Christy is quite the thin and willowy girl. She's a good defender and good in aerial and dead-ball situations, there's no doubt about that, but it's still very much child's play to get her off of the ball, and applying the slightest amount of pressure turns Christy into a headless chicken.

LCB: Miranda SULLINS 32 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Women

There's a reason why Sporting Ceneisis were interested in keeping Miranda Sullins in their academy and eventually their team, and that's the fact that she's just a rock-solid ball-playing defender. Miranda could have gone anywhere else she wanted, but she chose to stick it out with the Blues, and they repaid her with a place in their starting eleven. Regular call-ups to the national team also didn't hurt her stock one bit.

LB: Georgine BAUM 28 y/o, Pascal Mashu

Another player with foreign roots playing for the Democratic Republic. This time, Georgine's parents are immigrants, or rather expats, from Pridnestrovia, who escaped the country after her father said a few things that were not to President Field Marshal Stepan Stepanenko's liking. For a long time she was forced to play on the right but now she's back to her preferred left back position after some years being hung out to dry by the SFA. Surprisingly enough, her time playing in right back hasn't turned her into an ambidextrous threat. Maybe it was never meant to be.

RM: Trinidad KLEIST 30 y/o, Xemlice Rovers Ladies

Trinnie Kleist was always tipped to become a hard, no-nonsense midfielder who doesn't let the opposition get past her, and for once she actually developed into one such player. She's also matured to the point where she now times her tackles wisely and does them only when necessary. Still doesn't stop some referees whipping out the cards on Trinnie just because her reputation precedes her.

LM: Cecily SEGOVIA 30 y/o, Riuwiee United Women

CeCe Segovia is the creative foil to Trinnie Kleist's defensive midfielder. The Oontaz-born central midfielder is the creative outlet for the midfield, setting up passes and long balls to initiate the attack. But that doesn't mean she shirks from her defensive responsibilities. Still, like Trinnie, CeCe is still a bit enthusiastic with the sliding tackles and will get her name on the referee's notebook a fair few times.

RW: Elene LINER 28 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Ladies

Even at her young age, Elene already has the look of a future fantastic keeper. Well, what else can be said about the Sarvusdalamoive Football Academy, which has turned out great Fleftic keepers like Maksim Varamoninov and Victoria Carter? Unfortunately, she's slipped down the pecking order, but only because Brook Arzate deserves the chance to start this time. She had a lot to make up for after that emotionally devastating penalty shootout loss against Schottia in the 9th Under-15 World Cup and she ended up not having the mental strength to get over the disappointment of the shootout so she decided to become a striker instead. This way she hopes to emulate some of Abanhfleft's star forwards like Matthew Cave and Ruud Akinfenyor who started off as goalkeepers and then decided to make the move up to the top of the pitch.

CAM: Prudence WOODWARD 28 y/o, Duhblakk Aztecs

Prudence Woodward is the third and final player of Panemian descent to represent the blue, orange, and green for the Sporting World Cup after Guildenstern Cardew and Poppaea Fleet-Street. Prudence has a taste for clever through-balls and occupying pockets of space in which she could create chances and even score a few goals herself. She became a mother after a one-night stand with fellow under-18 teammate Prince William Luckless, but she wants to emulate her fellow single mother footballer in Claudine Samaniego in having both a stable family and a good football career.

LW: Amelie RUSEV 28 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies

Amelie Rusev is definitely the complete winger package now. Not only is she both quick and light on her feet and strong in the air and during challenges, she is ambidextrous, able to use both feet to send in long balls and crosses into the box when she wants. With that added crossing ability, Amelie has already cemented her place in the first team of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies. As for being the next Miss Ludogorets though, for some reason the fans are reluctant to give her that unofficial title. Who knows why?

ST: Kelly McGINNIS 28 y/o, Hoventon & Corlington Town

Kelly McGinnis could very well be the next Chelsea Stuart, and not just because she's become the starting striker for the Fleftic women's national football team. Kelly moved abroad to Mercedini's Hoventon & Corlington Town to continue her development as a striker, but almost a decade later and she's not won much with the Mercedinian side. She wants more, and if moving away from Hoventon & Corlington Town is the way to get it, then she'll just have to make the move.

GK: Deanna HERRING 20 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Women

Abanhfleft and Ginny Katesmar are taking a risk bringing two under-23 goalkeepers for this tournament as backup to Bronwyn Churchill, but then again, this is supposed to be a bunch of tune-up games after all. Deanna was rated enough by Kate Bernanos to be the starting goalkeeper for what could be Abanhfleft's last Di Bradini Cup for a while, but for the Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy she's only good enough to warm the bench for Rona Churchill.

GK: Mihaela HRISTOVA 20 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Women

Mihaela was the third-string goalkeeper for the under-21 side in Di Bradini Cup 49 for Abanhfleft. She's still third-string here in Muralos, but now it's for the senior women's team itself. It's like a promotion but also not really one.

RB: Queen YARNALL 25 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women

A quiet and sturdy defender who for her age is already making waves not only in the youth leagues but also in her handful of appearances for the Admiral Porcusces Women senior team. Still needs some work obviously but she could have a very high ceiling indeed.

CB: Brooke AUGUSTYN 29 y/o, Dinamo Bender Women

Augustyn didn't exactly become one of the best fullbacks to come out of Abanhfleft, but at least her career wasn't sidelined by too many injuries either. After a decent showing with Eielo Sunlight Women, she made the leap to Pridnestrovia and Dinamo Bender Women where she did well enough to make her way back to the national team.

CB: Tiera WALRATH 27 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas

One quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won them the Youth Premier League title this season. Like Wilton Kaba beside her in the under-18 team, Tiera's main purpose is to win balls inside the box and then kick it right out of the danger area. Accuracy needs a bit of work though.

LB: Tien GOODLETT 26 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas

The second quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won the Youth Premier League. Tien is more of an attacking fullback who likes to maraud further up the pitch and assist in the attack. She still gets back in defense more times than not but a particularly quick counterattack could still leave her stranded where she can be of no help to her fellow defenders.

RM: SIBUSIZWE Kiggwancha 26 y/o, Athletic Motonou

SIbusizwe's greatest strength lies in the fact that she can win the ball in midfield more times than not. Of course, most of this is against girls and boys on or nearly the same age as she is, but when she turned out for Athletic Motonou's senior side in the last few matchdays of the Ladies' Third Division season (with the title already wrapped up for Motonou) Sibusizwe looked capable of doing much the same thing against players who were much older and much more experienced than her. Now, she may be older but she's still no closer to being able to show this side of her game regularly because of manager philosophies and better players becoming available for call-up to the national team.

CM: Poppaea FLEET-STREET 29 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas

Poppaea is a rock-solid midfielder with decent ball distribution skills but still has a tendency to go all in on tackles, especially sliding ones. She came out as a lesbian at a young age and has been a pillar in the local LGBTQ sporting community, so when she got dropped from the national team for other midfielders who are better at playing in midfield than her, there was an outcry. The situation calmed down through the years though, and now she's back in the national setup.

LM: Charlene WILLIAMSON 29 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women

Charlene Williamson is the overlooked twin sister of Gareth Williamson. The reasons why she's been overlooked is because her main assets in football are mostly pace, acceleration, physicality, and a good long ball. Charlene can also run with the ball or chase it for 90 minutes and anyone stupid enough to try to take the ball away from her would find themselves on the ground almost immediately. Strangely though, Charlene's physicality tends to vanish during set pieces and Charlene could now count herself lucky if she doesn't end up kissing the grass while trying to get a touch on a corner or a free kick. Perhaps that's why Sporting Ceneisis allowed her to go to their provincial rivals Admiral Porcusces. Now that's one transfer the Blues regretted deeply.

RW: Sohaila MAGOMEDOVA 30 y/o, Exiles FK

Sohaila is one of Heinrich Wurzmann's latest finds from the Alternative Football Program. Her idols growing up were tricky players like Finn Jameson, Ruud Akinfenyor, and Matthew Cave, and Sohaila certainly has the feet to emulate them. She has indeed turned into one of the best right wingers Abanhfleft has to offer, but her decision to move to lower league Pridnestrovian side Exiles FK has cost her many a call-up with the national team. Until now, that is.

LW: Claudia ROOS 29 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Women

Claudia finally made the move from left back to left winger, a move that worked out well in the end for her, what with her pace, crossing ability, and incisive runs into the box. However, injuries have plagued her career and forced her out of contention for a call-up for much of what should have been the best years of her career, but now it looks like she's about to turn the whole thing around and become a late bloomer along the lines of a certain Tristan Lee.

FW: Hiroko KELLERMAN 22 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Women

Kellerman won the Golden Boot in the Fleftic Premier Development League 1 with a 23-goal haul in the 2028-29 season, earning her a promotion up to the senior women's team where she continued her goalscoring form with 21 goals for 2029-30, making her the highest goalscorer of the Citizens that season. She earned a call-up to the under-21 team for the 48th Di Bradini Cup, where she was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disastrous campaign which once again convinced the SFA to boycott the Di Bradini Cup for real and permanently this time.

A timid girl when not on the field, Potts shows the greatest of transformation to convert into the fierce central midfielder that Grearia has been blessed with.

Completing the 4-player midfield formation is another young gun out of Bradwick in the south. Janet, otherwise completing her 10th standard examinations back in school, decided to try out for the Grearish national team when news spread that the BoF was upon us and the nation needed youngblood who were hungry for victory. This tactful right winger knows most tricks of the trade to fool her opposition, but a rather short-tempered teenage mentality might prove to be her greatest foe.

Avery McAuley, 22, #10, Female, Striker, (Vice-Captain)

Number 10 and probably one of the most sought-after players for the Grearish NT, Mc Auley is also the vice captain for the national team we take such pride in. The Black Lilies' premier striker will be on the lookout for a prolific goal-scoring season as a poacher up front, relying on her immense shooting force and gargantuan willpower.

We round off the starting eleven with the inclusion of Kline, the deep lying forward, who prevents the supply chain from the midfielders to McAuley from getting blocked up. Kline, however, is not expected to be rigid in his role, and that the Grearish public can expect to see a flurry of goals from him as well.

The onus will be on her in the upcoming international season to prove her might, as she will face off against some of the best in the world in battles to assume control of the midfield.

The 20-year-old number 20 of the Grearish NT, Aaron Murphy is one-of-a-kind. With no other ACMs in the team and the gaffer preferring a rather traditional 4-4-2 approach, Murphy finds himself on the bench. However, if pundits are to be believed, a Murphy substitution in a game could turn it on its head and will thus be a key player for the side, tactically.

Atheburn Park is widely known as the national home ground for the Black Lilies. This tag, however, is now on the verge of being snatched from the capital city, as the other three of the major four cities in the country are now vying for marquee matches in the qualification campaign for World Cup 85.

To reach the venue, a flight to the international airport at the capital and then a subsequent mode of road transport through the city should suffice.

Dream Games Arena, Plibury (55,000)

Recently taken over by the Dream Games Inc. to support sports in the home nation, the capacity of the stadium has been ramped up to 55,000 for the World Cup qualifier matches to be held in Plibury, apart from the rechristening.

With the rotation of matches becoming an increasing probability, it is likely that you could see some of the bigger games being played here at Dream Games Arena. To reach the venue, a flight to the Plibury International airport, and a mode of public or private transport shall suffice, thanks to the robust Grearish transport facilities.

Hope Springs, Edgenorth (32,000)

Located in the sports-loving town of Edgenorth, it is expected that Edgenorth will provide quite the atmosphere as the supporters' enthusiasm can easily take on that of the two major cities.
One has to take a connecting flight to the city from either of the two international airports to reach the venue. It is known to be fantastic experience to live the moment in this stadium, and the World Cup qualifiers will prove to be the perfect opportunity for the world to witness it, if experiences of previous visitors are to be believed.

Western Wells, Forsho (50,000)

Built on the ruins of the Gloriaxian city of Industus unknowingly, it is now a matter of pride that a city this old lay in ruins underneath to be a foundation for the new city of Forsho. One can reach this beautiful port city by either a connecting flight from the international airports, or via an ocean vessel while the Forsho port welcomes you through it's doors. The beautifully built stadium will see it's first international action in the coming World Cup qualifiers, and is expected to be quite the venue, with top notch hospitality for the richer crowds, and cheap entertainment for the average Joes.

Billic has been in charge of the national team for his fourth edition of the World Cup, a now lengthy tenure which has yet to bear any real fruit thus far. Indeed, Mercedini's presence on the world stage has dwindled somewhat since the decision was made to not send teams over to the regionals and youth tournaments. With the Golden Eagles continuing to stay in the upper pots, but never really challenging for the World Cup spots in recent times. Last time round, they once again filed to make it to the World Cup, and had to play in the Cup of Harmony for a chance at NSWC Silverware once again. There, after a solid group stage, they were knocked out in the Round of 16 by Krytenia. Alas, they go again, in hope of trying to claim a spot at the 88th World Cup hosted by Chromatika and Cassadaigua. Our fingers are crossed, the groups have been drawn, and Mercedini must prove that they are contemporary team not propped up by the successes of past editions.

Mercedini have been unsurprisingly absent from the international stage in recent months once again, leading to lack on information and lack of experience forming a major question mark on proceedings. No U18 action, no U21 action, no friendlies, no nothing. To combat that, Billic has once again opted for a risky strategy to surround an experienced and international-standard goalkeeper with young talents which could result in then gaining valuable experience for future tournaments which they will likely play a major role in. While Mercedini is a name that is common to many football-playing nations nowadays, they nation is getting ever more desperate to re-invent themselves and find a way to get Dini back to their historic highs, where they could beat anyone on a good day. Zoloroni City #1 Hosset will lead the line once again, with Wandai and Azar earning their spots for this campaign following their good performances in last edition's Cup of Harmony. Vorsini, while absent in last editions Cup of Harmony, retains a spot in the group of four for qualification, with some decent performances in the dead rubbers of qualification to warrant his inclusion for the 88th World Cup. Goalkeeping is always seen as a vanilla position, rarely changing and evolving in it's position on the pitch despite it's importance. The moves by Billic are seen as a small gamble given the importance of these campaigns, Vorsini and Wandai will need to perform to make those gambles worthwhile for their manager and their association.

There isn't really that much change when it comes to the personnel available in the defensive roster for Mercedini, although the transfer window has kept many of the players in this roster, where they were since the last edition. The major change comes in the shape of Penarito, who is still making a name for himself in Peynol-Lunas, Pasarga, with Mercedinians now having lots of foreign clubs in lots of foreign leagues to support, now lots of exports have been made by the MPL. While he hasn't been made a starter for the team, he could be useful when grinding out results late in the game and if Dini need a reliable midfielder in games versus lower ranked sides. Foreign interest in the Mercedinian side has increased tenfold in recent editions due to big money transfers to big leagues, although the MPL still has more than enough skill in the game to fly it's own flag if the national team does well. After making a great return to the national team in the Cup of Harmony, Santorino is given the nod in the left-back position, with everybody else keeping their spots from the last campaign in an aging defensive line.

Once again, only a handful of changes to the midfield roster and they take the reigns for the national team, with the good performances put forward by the midfield squad during their Cup of Harmony run warranting national praise and re-selection for the upcoming qualification campaign. Mercedini has put itself on the map with it's attractive brand on attacking and controlling football, with the midfield quartet always at the heart of the action as they ebb and flow with the action of the game. Cricket scores can be chalked up when this group is in form, with experienced veterans teaming up with enthusiastic young-guns to provide plenty of variety and depth to Billic as he attempts to get maximum efficiency from his players. With the nation now entering it's thirteenth edition, it's safe to say that the Golden Eagles have been sussed out by now, they need a technical overhaul to keep their football fresh and difficult to counter. Mercedini have often struggled against the top teams due to their inability to keep up with the midfield play, but this group of players are well experienced from one previous cycle together. It is simply a question of whether Mercedini can be put in the same bracket as the top tier of football-playing nations this time around. Age is another major factor, with this likely the reason why this could be the final World Cup with this group of players in their current form. Fresher faces are waiting in the wings, Billic has some big decisions to make on the future directions of this national team.

In a roster where there has been little to no change, the prolific group of strikers has only seen one change in the last three cycles from the group which got their call-ups to the senior team a couple of editions ago, with Adrian Talisky keeping his spot in the attacking roster due to his super-sub moments last edition. Talisky is certainly seen as the next generation of talismanic strikers, after Billic and Chillotov have done before them. After scoring more than twenty goals in the past two season for Blue Strike Zoloroni, the teenager has certainly earned his stripes, where he hopes to add another cutting edge to the quintet.

Chillotov and Dostalok remain the top two in the Mercedinian striking world and are selected once again to lead the line. They have been holding steady for their respective clubs, and are finally within their calibre of quality after lighting up their respective leagues before moving abroad to face greener pastures. All of these players used to play for their hometown club before moving for considerable amounts of money to their current clubs, effectively bankrolling their boyhood clubs for a while. Now playing internationally, they have been through the highs and lows of the qualifying schedule, so nothing should come as a shock to them as they go through the gears once again. Minnows and Juggernauts will have to face off against these players, whoever comes out of the other end will likely decide the campaign for Mercedini, with so much tied on the performances of these strikers.

The prosperous capital of Mercedini is the stage for the Mercedinian campaign for World Cup Qualification once again. The Zoloroni Sports City Stadium was built in 2012 and has been the national team's home stadium since it was built. The stadium used to hold over 61,000 people, but a modernising refurbishment meant that the capacity has increased by approximately 13,000 with the new capacity sitting at roughly 74,500 with the new visiting allocation still being just less than a quarter of that at 18,000. The stadium has hosted a Baptism of Fire final and an Independent's Cup final and third-place play-off during IAC's two and five respectively. The Sports City Stadium was the original home of Zoloroni City before they moved to their own stadium, but this cathedral is still accustomed to regular football featuring the nation's and the multiverse's best teams, when it hosts the MFA Cup final plus playoff finals for National League 1 and National League 2. Mercedinians and visiting spectators who don't have tickets can have a drink in one of the many bars and pubs nearby or they can chill in the World Cup FanZone where they can watch the matches on the big screens along with other football enthusiasts.

Mercedini has two national languages and both are universally spoken in the nation as children are taught both at a young age. Mercedinian is the native language of all citizens and is based around the Italian language, knowing the language isn't paramount to a tourist's experience but Mercedinians always appreciate a foreigner attempting to communicate in Mercedinian. If learning a foreign language isn't your thing then English is also universally spoken throughout the nation (especially in cities and other metropolitan areas as it is considered the language of business and commerce). It is common for Mercedinians to speak more than one language with some opting for a third if proficient enough in their previous two, Google Translate is also only a couple of clicks away if you need it.

Mercedini's national currency is the Mercede (M) and is used universally for the nation's transactions. Currently, the Mercede is a strong and reliable currency with 1.56 NationStates Dollars equalling 1 Mercede (M0.64 = 1 NS$). Goods & Services in Mercedini are comparably cheap thanks to low operating costs, free-trade deals and low import tariffs for foreign goods, they can be paid for using the common Mercede currency, although visitors can pay with NS Dollars or use their credit or debit cards. Roster For World Cup 88

During World Cup 85 and 86, Hampton Island was able to qualify for the World Cup in what was just the nation’s second and third ever attempt despite carrying a roster of older people (40 and up). Also occurring during the World Cup 86 campaign was a bet between the unnamed Stafford City CEO and 20-something Hannah Sanders, which Sanders won. Long story, but she got control of the team.

Everyone expected Sanders to be loyal to the “old guys” for World Cup 87, but that was not the case as she went with a conventional lineup of the best players in Hampton Island, players that were of normal ages for this competition.

What will Hannah Sanders do for World Cup 88?

Hannah? Hannah?! Where are you?

That was the question. The team was seemingly abandoned. Hannah seemed to only concerned with vacationing and was not doing anything with the team anymore. She did not do a whole lot in World Cup 87 to begin with, but now she was not doing anything. Sponsors wanted to know what to expect this time, but no one was signing up the nation.

The old Stafford City CEO submitted a signup, and then put a team together. Hannah Sanders, at present, has not done anything still and sponsors are beginning to wonder if they should sign on with the new team, which is the former owner assuming control of the team. Does he have the right to do this?

Manager: Alexander Bumba. 59 years old(Banija). The veteran manager who knows this scene well returns. He managed Jinja City FC in the Banijan Soccer League for the first nine seasons of the league's existence, and was generally successful, with a league title and five second place finishes under his belt. After serious disagreements with club ownership on the amount they should invest into talent, he decided to leave for a challenge at the club scene in Cobrio. He was fairly successful there, leading an under-resourced club in a league with most of its teams from Osarius.

Rumor has it he wants to get back into the home scene though, and wants his old job back at Jinja City FC. While many believe his focus is there, that managerial chair is still empty while Bumba gets his name back into the Banijan footballing scene by taking the Busogan national team job. The team had a solid AOCAF, only achieving their second appearance in the knockout stages of the AO regional championships ever, getting knocked out by penalties to the 5 time world champions, Starblaydia. Whether Bumba will stay for the entirety of World Cup Qualifying is up in the air, but he will lead the ambitious nation on their 8th attempt to try and qualify for the World Cup Finals.

The Domestic Football Situation

It's been a bad disastrous cycle for Busogan football, even if their knockout stage appearance at the AOCAFs was a high point. Why, was it disastrous? Well, the country's lone team in the Shango-Fogoa Premier League, the joint venture between Banija, Busoga, and Farfadillis, was relegated. Lakiska SC never seemed long for the joint venture- a defensive minded team without a ton of talent, a lone island against the most aggressively offensive league in Atlantian Oceania, and probably in the entire multiverse. As the country's biggest club, they are the biggest contributor to the national team- presently five members, including three starters, play for Lakiska SC.

That's five key contributors no longer playing in the top-flight. What makes it worse? Busoga had two teams in the second flight, but one of them got relegated as well. So there are still just two teams in the second tier, Dukuma SC and now Lakiska SC. It may be a long time before another Busogan team gets promoted. What does this mean for the national team? Well, it will be harder to recruit talent, and BISA will have to be more aggressive about getting S-FPL squads to scout the Islands.

There are 6 professional squads on these islands. 4 in Banija's third tier, and two in Banija's second tier. With domestic football fans generally having a terrible time of it right now, they will look to the national team to try and deliver their happiness in this sport. Whether this is a good idea or not remains to be seen.

He's been the best goalkeeper in Mytanija for years now but he didn't enjoy the best of seasons last time out as Ararat's much vaunted defensive prowess disappeared for much of the 28/29 campaign. Kasun was left with more work to do than usual and whilst he did okay he wasn't as brilliant as in previous years and due to the high standard he has set himself it was extremely noticeble. He's a great shot-stopper and communicator; possessing good reflexes and speed in order to rush out towards oncoming forwards too. He stands at 195cm so is an imposing presence between the posts whilst also being useful with his distribution of the ball, something which is especially important in Repin's team.

GK: Semir Besak, 19, Olympic Thessia [MYT]

Winner of the Golden Glove award domestically in the season just gone, Besak has an extremely impressive honours list for such a young goalkeeper. He was a part of the Olympic Thessia team which won the club its first ever league title two seasons ago, he has twice finished second in the running for Under-23 Player of the Season as well as a third place in the Golden Glove to go with his win in that this year. Besak can do a bit of everything, he's a brave shot-stopper and uses his height to good effect when coming out to claim high balls and crosses with confidence. The part of his game he may need to work on is his distribution, but that should come with time, he has a very bright future ahead of him. Besak was the starting goalkeeper for the Mytanar under-21 squad as they finished third in the most recent Di Bradini Cup.

GK: Zafer Muminovic, 26, Tekstil Ibon [MYT]

Third choice goalkeeper who has impressed domestically over the past few years despite never having one of the best-stocked defences in front of him in terms of personnel. This is a spot which he has largely locked down over the years, Muminovic doesn't expect to be starting for the national team but is quite happy to accept the role of back-up. Domestically he has been extremely steady and finished 2nd in the running for the Golden Glove award at the end of the 28/29 season with 13 clean sheets in 30 games.

For a long time Obradovic has been the second choice goalkeeper but he's now dropped down the pecking order due to the emergence of Semir Besak and the greater consistency offered by Zafer Muminovic. Obradovic arguably has the best distribution of any of the Mytanar goalkeepers, but on the international stage Repin has often favoured those with the better shot-stopping given that this Mytanar team isn't expected to dominate games as much as past generations. Obradovic can be prone to the odd eccentric moment and has some communication issues when trying to command his penalty area.

Mytanija employ a wide-range of formations dependent on different situations within each game, players are taught different tactical ideas from an early age in Mytanar academies and it leads to flexible players who can slot into a wide-range of systems fairly comfortably. During this World Cup qualification cycle Mytanija's default formation will be the 4-3-3/3-1-3-3 hybrid used to good effect during the last few tournaments, but they may switch to a 4-6-0, 4-2-3-1, a 4-3-1-2 or 5-3-2 dependent on the opposition and the game state. I shall try to detail here the different scenarios which will lead to a change of formation. Please don't hesitate to either TG me on here or direct message me on the NS Sports Discord if you have any questions about Mytanija's tactics, whether it be the underlying principles/theory for each one; personnel for different formations; or if you just want to shoot the breeze about different tactical ideas.

The 4-3-3/3-1-3-3 hybrid is split into defensive shape (4-3-3) and attacking shape (3-1-3-3), this obviously depends on whether Mytanija has possession of the ball or not. Out of possession, the team will retreat into a fairly standard 4-3-3 formation. The back four will defend across the width of their penalty area, any deviance from that distance will result in Mojmir Anac berating whoever it is that has moved out of that line. Defensively the team will try to keep the distance between each player as consistent as possible so that no one player has to defend large spaces by themselves. In front of the back four will be Alen Hrdaljko and Tahir Fejzuli, they will be directly in front of Mytanija's pair of central defenders and mostly look to prevent through balls into the space in front of the central defenders and engage any players who look to dribble into the space that they are occupying. Against some teams they may press the opposition, but if this happens only one will do so at any one time. The majority of the pressing is left to Jasno Odonelec who will cover the space in front of Hrdaljko and Fejzuli; as well as Jezdimir Ocokoljic who will take on the brunt of this. The team's wingers will mostly track the opposition's full-backs, but if the opposition don't tend to use their full-backs as attacking options then Mytanija's wingers will press and tuck-in (ie. one winger will press when possession is on his side of the pitch; the other will tuck-in on the opposite side to allow the Mytanar midfield to shift across the pitch to focus the defensive effort on the side of the pitch that the ball is on).

When Mytanija regain possession, the formation will change from the defensive shape of the 4-3-3 into the attacking shape of the 3-1-3-3. This will generally mean Grigorij Savicevic shifting across to the left slightly from his left-sided centre-back position, with Mojmir Anac occupying a position in the centre of a back three with Patrik Odonelec coming inside slightly from right-back. This back three will usually play quite high up the pitch to try and catch the opponent's forwards offside, relying particularly on Anac's pace to recover if the opposition succeed in breaking the offside trap. Ahead of them Alen Hrdaljko will act as a defensive shield slash midfield conductor, he'll mostly recycle possession but if Mytanija lose the ball he'll be there to (hopefully) put out any fires before they reach the defensive trio - who in turn are there as a three to add that little extra layer of protection than just your usual two central defenders. This extra layer of protection is necessary because nominal left-back Srdan Vukovic has been given a roving brief as something of a number 8/10 on the left of three central-attacking midfielders, with Jasno Odonelec in the centre and Fejzuli on the right of this three. They will largely be looking to operate in the gaps between the opposition's midfielders and also between their midfielders and defenders. This formation is about trying to overload certain areas of the pitch when Mytanija have the ball and Vukovic's presence in attacking midfield areas is demonstrative of this. The team's wingers will stay wide to try and keep the opposition full-backs wide, leaving space in between the full-backs and centre-backs for the likes of Vukovic, Odonelec, Fejzuli and Ocokoljic to exploit. Similarly Ocokoljic will operate as a false nine and regularly drop deep to try and drag the opponent's centre-backs out of position, with the space they vacate when following Ocokoljic hopefully being exploited by the wingers and Odonelec.

TEAM ROLES
Captaincy: Jasno Odonelec has been elevated to national team captain as Petr Isaev is no longer a guaranteed starter. Isaev is the official vice-captain and will take the armband if Jasno Odonelec isn't on the pitch and he is. If neither of them are on the pitch the captaincy would pass onto the likes of Pedja Kasun or Mojmir Anac, beyond them it will usually be the player with the most caps on the pitch.
Penalties: Odonelec is now the team's first-choice penalty taker, after than the responsibility would fall to Ocokoljic. In a penalty shoot-out the order would be something like: Odonelec, Ocokoljic, Hrdaljko, Fejzuli, Anac; then the likes of Andrijasevic, Derajevic, Vlahovic, Vukovic, Brkljacic would come after or replace those they are substituted for if they are on the pitch.
Corners: Essentially anyone I've noted as a good passer or crosser of the ball: Fejzuli, Vlahovic, Gajic, Odonelec (who will begrudge taking them due to him being a reasonable aerial threat), Vukovic etc.
Short free kicks: Ocokoljic or Fejzuli, basically. Ocokoljic is more likely to take them from the left as he's right-footed and Fejzuli more likely from the right as he's left-footed. Odonelec would be next choice and Branko Brkljacic would offer a different method of taking it which mainly involves just hitting the ball as hard as he possibly can. If none of those are on the pitch, the likes of Kalinic or Vukovic are options. Failing that pick someone at random.
Long free kicks: Usually whoever's playing at left-back or right-back will take our long free kicks and try and punt it into the box and take advantage of having quite a tall team.

NOTES:
• Lev Repin (aged 51), is the Mytanar national team manager and has been in the role for one World Cup cycle and a Copa Rushmori. Repin is a Mytanar footballing legend and played for the national side 177 times, scoring 14 goals from full back, winning Copa Rushmori XVII and Cup of Harmony 56 and 59 along the way. He managed the under-21 squad at the Di Bradini Cup and took them to a runners-up finish. Repin is known as a bit of a schemer tactically and this was evidenced during qualification for World Cup 82; he also led the team to a 3rd placed finish at the 32nd Copa Rushmori in Qusmo and a 4th placed finish at the 36th Copa Rushmori held in Græntfjall and Tikariot. In qualifying for World Cup 87 he led Mytanija to an unexpected 4th place, only narrowly missing out on qualification despite being unranked heading into the cycle.

• Mytanija has qualified to 11 World Cups, reaching the quarter finals in World Cup 68. Mytanija has won the Copa Rushmori once (XVII), to go with two victories in the Cup of Harmony (56 and 59); and a Di Bradini Cup win (DBC40). Some of these achievements were made under the names Mytannion/the Mytanar Region, Mytanija is ICly the exact same place.

• Mytanars are renowned for being passionate and therefore will not be afraid of confrontation if they feel they're on the end of a particularly rough tackle. At the same time Mytanars are not afraid of gamesmanship and may perform some questionable tackles of their own, along with tactical fouls to prevent the opponent from gaining momentum. Furthermore, diving, crowding referees and even intentional handballs (OOC: so Maradona's Hand of God and Suarez for Uruguay versus Ghana, that sort of stuff), to influence the game are not beyond Mytanar players. They will argue that winning is the most important thing and will do anything they can to achieve victory. Some might call it dirty, Mytanars don't, that won't stop them complaining when things go against them naturally.

• Mytanar fans are well-known for being hooligans, causing problems wherever they go and being prone to violence. They also make outstanding choreographies for their domestic sides and occasionally the national team (if they aren't fighting each other), so pyrotechnics, flags and lots of noise and alcohol are common place. Corteos (organised marches from a specific place to the stadium), are also common, these can lead to areas being shutdown as the sheer numbers of fans walking along roads block traffic and can lead to issues as police attempt to marshal supporters too. Given the ongoing political situation in Mytanija, whether ultra groups are able to put aside differences regarding politics, ethnicity etc for the national side is a pertinent question and the answer to it may change even from game to game.

Here is a list of Mytanija's home games and information about where they will be played. A relatively comprehensive two-part travel guide compiled for the 31st Copa Rushmori which was hosted in Mytanija should provide you with plenty of information about the country (part one); and information about the stadiums where games will be played (part two). The FSM have a habit of trying to send big teams/rivals to more hostile or provincial locations within Mytanija in order to give them a taste of some of the most fierce atmospheres Mytanija has to offer (or alternatively to try and limit the embarrassment as much as possible with less people seeing thrashings unfold in the stadium), this should be clear in the scheduling:

ICly the qualifying cycle takes place over the course of two years in Mytanija, with the first half of qualifying occurring in the first year and the second half in the second year. The World Cup proper then happens at the end of that second year (usually in the middle of Mytanar summer). For this reason, the ages displayed in the player information are correct for the start of qualifying, but players will be two years older by the end of a qualification cycle.

of every billionaire in the country, it is the richest city in Eraman.

state in the country. It is the home of Royal Arupura. The city is the third biggest city in the
country after Anara and Daulapura and it is very industry-driven, home of most of the major
manufacturing companies from Eraman. If you have a product made in Eraman, chances are
it is made in this city. However, this also make the city facing pollution problems. When
visiting, wear your mask.

Pasirpura Stadium
Location: Pasirpura, Pasir
Capacity: 15,000

Pasirpura Stadium is located in the biggest city in South Eraman. It is the home of Royal Pasirpura. The city is the most popular tourist destination in the country, well known as a resort city as well as a red-light city of the country. The beaches are arguably the most beautiful in the region, the casinos are visited by high-rollers from across the globe and the brothels are state-owned. It is strictly not suitable for family vacations. Located just across the island of Soma in Mitra and Soma, Pasirpura is home to a very large Mitranese and Somanese diaspora.

Head Coach: Ross Hearkener (Brenecia)

Ross Hearkener is the new head coach of Eraman national football team. He is the former player and head coach of Royal Puncakpura. Under his guidance, Royal Puncakpura managed to break the domination of Royal Daulapura and Anara in Liga Eraman. Ross Hearkener managed to lift the Liga Eraman trophy 2 seasons ago.

His appointment as the national team head coach caused a stir among the Royal Puncakpura fans. Royal Puncakpura was top of the league last season when the president of ERAFA who is also the owner of Royal Daulapura appointed Ross Hearkener as the national team head coach. Royal Puncakpura fans saw this as an attempt to weaken Royal Puncakpura. Royal Daulapura went on to win Liga Eraman last season.

Assistant Head Coach: Tun Sengalang Petara

Tun Sengalang Petara is the prime minister of Eraman, president of Eraman Football Association, owner of Royal Daulapura Football Club, and arguably the richest man in Melayu Archipelago. He was also the former national team head coach but gave way to Ross Hearkener to take the lead. He appointed himself as the assistant head coach after the appointment of Ross Hearkener.

The Anara captain has shown his leadership qualities after leading his club side to a back-to-back league title. The center back was nicknamed Gorilla for his strength and aerial prowess. With promising young center-back emerging around the country, this is probably going to be the last time Badang lead the back four.

The mass exodus of national team players from Royal Daulapura 5 years ago forced the club to rely on foreign players and youngsters. One of the youngsters who benefited from the incident is Anton Mora. He stepped up to the first team with flying colors. Composed and plays defense breaking long balls often.

Club: Royal Puncakpura

Cicak Kudung is Lipas Kudung's twin brother. The abilities and playing style of Lipas and Cicak is as identical as their face. The only down point of it is they are both right-footed. Cicak Kudung always supports the attack down the left flank but frequently had to cut in onto his favored right foot to hoist crosses into the box.

The third son of Maharaja Nila Petara caused half of the national team to be banned with his transfer move from his uncle's club, Royal Daulapura to Damaisari on a free transfer. In retaliation, his uncle who is the president of ERAFA banned him and his teammates from the national team. Left with no choice or better players, Tun Sengalang Petara decided to lift the ban last year and Suara Petara is now back with the captain armband since the 7th Melayu Archipelago Cup.

Rimau Belang is another domestic club captain in the national team. He led Royal Puncakpura to various championships in the past. Rimau Belang is deployed as defending midfielder for his club but is expected to play a more advanced role for the national team.

The veteran playmaker will be the main creative outlet for Eraman. The attack-minded center midfield has the most impressive passing range and passing accuracy in Liga Eraman for the past few seasons and is very deadly in a dead-ball situation. Buisan Buayan will be the focal point of Eraman's attack. He has shown a surprising amount of upper-body strength in the league which allowed him to shove defenders aside, creating room for him to show his skills and make things happen. He also has the ability to get into a great goalscoring position with his movement.

This is the official roster, featuring the Elite Eleven, an independent squad of Drawkians who have played all sports at a professional level for a confusingly long time. The old Kick Corps has been essentially removed, the players let go, and replaced by this squad of ridiculously skilled, annoyingly arrogant, and possibly immortal sportsmen. Nobody knows where they came from, or why DISC decided to replace the Kick Corps with them, but here they are. Just don't ask the baseball fans about them.
Drawkian soccer, and indeed, sporting in general, is mostly offensive-minded. This is reflected in the style indicator and in the formation. Drawkian soccer has not really been exposed to outside influences, and thus may look or feel strange to those used to "normal" football. Nevertheless, the Eleven are still good at what they do, and prize in an enduring game, moving the ball around nearly constantly and keeping energy going, aiming to tire out the opposing team. Of course, Drawkians aren't humans, but you can read about that elsewhere. Despite the fact that usually soccer is a female-only sport in Drawkland, the Elite Eleven have overturned that caveat as the higher-ups deemed them a suitable replacement in the interim as the real Kick Corps hides away for a few cycles and gets their shit back together.
