I personally think that the government ought to dictate what the military does, and Emaz dictates what Porter does. If player military leaders/ president says, "Negotiate" then the ball will be in Porters court. I personally think a Waco is very avoidable here and it should be the duty of the players to stop that from happening. I doubt we can retcon as much stuff as has already passed.

Hypolite would do his best to emulate a Reagan, Eisenhower, McCain type presidency. His far-right talk is just to get the Far-Righters of Lousyanne on his side.

Put Everitt Colbert in charge and he will send in Delta Force, Navy Seals, and Marines to capture him and put him on trial for treason.

I've been thinking about Santiago. He might still put it forth and publicly announce to his possible constituents in Hialeah what he's trying to do, but slam the Democrats if they oppose him. He doesn't care if it goes anywhere (though he would like it to) but he wants to show he tried. And if he makes some deals with Republicans, then he could get it some steam, but the Democrats would lose Florida. I think the embargo would cancel out any "socialist!!" name calling, especially since the Democrats have a better case for calling the Republicans fascist after Bernie Porter's stunts. Santiago knows that, and he could chain at least some Democrats to that bill. It would likely cost them Florida in the General Election, in any case.

If Santiago wants to do a bill that leadership'd be amenable to, it'd be something which reopens the asylum process for those fleeing authoritarian socialist regimes in Latin America.

Because there is absolutely no appetite to give credence to claims that Democrats are socialists, they want to keep Florida on the map, and because Cuba's not actually liberalised at all to justify relaxing the US stance. The Speaker's pretty consistently anti-Cuba and the nominee is pretty staunchly anti-communist.

What if I amended the bill to just open travel with Cuba? I don't see any credence for the socialist claims there, and it would help the Cuban-American opinion immensely, both for Santiago and for the Democrats. Right now they're losing Cuban voters and if they do nothing because they are scared then they'll keep losing them.

First of all, don't make generalizations about a group I'm almost 100% you're not a part of.

Second, you two don't understand something. Of course they're against the Castro regime. But they have family in Cuba, and they can't visit them. How would you like it if your family lived in another country, literally less than 100 miles from your country, but you can't visit them? That's the reality for my family and the families of hundreds of Cuban-Americans in America. The embargo hasn't worked. Other countries just sell their products to Cuba, and the US economy is stuck losing 4 billion a year with no positive benefits. Castros are still in power. Cuba still exists. Republicans, Democrats, Cubans, everyone wants Castro to be gone but this isn't working. A lot of people, including well-educated people who study this thing for a living and know more about this topic than you or me, think that a regime would come faster with looser trade restrictions.
