An ancient looking man holding a cobbed pipe firmly squinted before standing up and hollering at Broussard for his attention.

"Mista Brother sardine, Broussard, wow yer name is hards to prow-nownce. Likes my wives. She's isa brandy-eeine. My name be Cletus Gordon n' I just wanna t' ask y'alls fellers whot in t' he hell y'all doin' inna gubment. My main worry's onna the tax man. Now, this senator from miss sippii promises my tax rate to be lower. Have y' chated wit that there man o' his inna miss sippii onna lower tax rate for us fellers who've just gotta shack wit a leaky facuet fer cover n' don't wanna pay the tax man more than we needs? Do you gots any plans t' introduce us to nice tax break proposals inna the house, and will they play hard to git inna the senate or will y'all chat with the elephants n' assholes to git it passed without thems bills comin' outta 'mmittee loookin' likes some butchared sheep or critter roadkill carcas that even the buzzards won't touch. I don't w-want 'em to strip the bill clean. That'll b-hurt me bumtum line, gots its there mista Brother sardine?"

Hubert internally rolled his eyes, this man wasn't from Louisiana, couldn't be, Broussard is one of the largest and well known families in Louisiana. Plus, this man didn't even sound cajun, "Sir, the Senator from Mississippi is running a losing campaign, both for the White House and for the Senate. I support his message, and I support a few of his decisions, but from his declaring of the poor man as a criminal, and the declaring the rich man as his only constituents, he won't work in Louisiana. Secondly, the President of the United States can't lower taxes by himself. It is the congress that determines the budget, a simple example of why he ought to stay in the Senate, to make and pass bills. I have o current plans to introduce any tax break proposals as we currently face minimal taxes as it is, in my opinion."

“Well, about the New Orleans situation...it was pretty bad. I heard someone ended up dying, which, you know...you have anything to say about that?”

Broussard thought for a moment, "Well, I recall it was a tragedy. I don't remember anyone who turned up at that crisis, desiring someone to depart in such a tragic way. I further speculate that the circumstances in 'Nawlins ' were caused by a mild case of skepticism. If there is any footage of the disaster that was exhibited on the news, I can report to you that if you observe and listen, you will, no doubt detect that I advised folks about the automobile. That's why nobody in my party was harmed, they adopted my advice when I yelled. They listened when I saw that car. The negros didn't. That's their liability, not mine. Tell director Brown that he ought to believe somebody when they give him a legitimate warning."

Whoever controls the media is who controls the spread of information, stay clean, tell the truth, that's the only advice you need boy. I made sure to do just that when I was in the business. Keep your head up high, and do what YOU want. Let nobody dictate to you, what your future holds sha. I want to make sure that the world I promote, is the world my daddy would be proud of, that my mammy would be proud of, and a world that my kids and grandkids can live in, happy, and free and safe, so I will do just that. My bill that is currently being debated on in the senate is just one clear example of my dedication to the safety of our state and country."

"Hello New Orleans, Louisiana and fellow Americans, listening this speech in person, over radio or over television. Today, I speak to you about a situation most dire. Our constitution and the values that it stands for, are under attack by domestic enemies. Domestic enemies who, using the means of mobs and street violence, lead by individuals that sour our congress with a presence that's been secured by the machinations of corrupts state governments manipulating the electoral process against the outlines of our constitution and suppressing the voices of political opposition of all colors, have worked to attack peacefully demonstrating citizens, who want nothing more than to see that our constitution is upheld, as it exists and was ratified by our states, rather than torn asunder by the corrupting doings of those who oppose our constitution and the republic of which stands for it.

While it is most obvious that the rights of protestors should be created with absolute respect, as a first amendments calls for, there comes a time when one must realize that specific individuals and ideas are under direct attack by conspiracies of evil, and special efforts must be taken to not only punish their implementation, but pre-emptively stop their occurrences in the first place. Such is the purpose of the so nicknamed 'double protection act' presented to our congress by my intelligent, independent and beautiful wife, Senator Sofia. This bill calls for the punishment of individuals who conspire to block or disrupt protests who's primary demands are the enforcement of the 14th amendment, the equal protection amendment, that ensures that laws re applied to all persons equally, by governments that have consistently failed to do so, in addition to providing specific security for such protests and punishing those in government and law enforcement who, while having the capacity to do so, refuse to provide it. The mechanics of punishment is one that treats these actions as as conspiracy against rights, as outlined in our criminal code, including the punishments associated with such. Additionally, in order to ensure that the Department of justice has the information and warning to act on this activity ahead of time, it also provides for the acceptance and prioritization of investigations of these activities as informed by these petitions.


In doing this, we will not only protect the first amendment rights of those who ae under coordinated attack across the country, but also help advance and protect the proper enforcement of the 14th amendment. Both noble goals, which I am sure the enemies of our constitution will work to oppose. Nonetheless, I ask citizens of all stripes, especially those running for the office, particularly the office of the presidency, to back this bill, so that it may pass through this congress even before a Fraser administration is given that chance to sign it!

"Fraser is far too extreme and liberal, Jackson is the best choice." he said to himself as he turned around and walked to a payphone. "Operator, this is an anonymous political operative, I'd like you to connect me to the nearest campaign headquarters of General Jonathan Jackson, please," he said, as he waited for the phone to connect.

"Hello there Penn State, it's nice to be back. It's been years but it all still feels the same, the atmosphere here, the feeling here, just being here brought it all back. Three years working towards my Juris Degree, and while it may have been hard, it made me who I am today. These years along with my service in the Second World War taught me perseverance, to never give up in the face of hardship, to carry on, to accept challenges, and to dare the status quo. To fight for what's right, for what you believe in, it gave me the life lessons that I brought into the courtroom and into Congress. These are the life lessons you will learn here, it may be tough at times but I will be worth it in the end. That is the mindset that I bring into Congress, it is why I continue to fight even when the tide is against, even when it seems almost impossible. I hope that you will be of a similar mindset, that you bring that into the world, into whatever you do. You will only achieve what you wish for if try to achieve it, and even if you fail I think that you will feel better knowing that you at the very least tried. I caught up with some of my old professors, they've aged but they're the same still nonetheless. The lessons you shall take out of these years you will bring through your whole life. The memories that you make, the personality that you build, the skills that you earn, nobody will be able to take these from you, no matter how hard they try.

To be able to stand for what you believe is right, no matter the circumstances, no matter the backlash, that is the most courageous act to be able to do of all. You must be able to build your skillset, your values, your views, not to be coerced, or mislead, or forced. Many politicians will do anything to build their vision of the world, they want your vote, and they will do anything to get it. They build organizations to change or develop your views you must be able to say no to them, to be able to recognize when something is trying to change your views. Politicians must be representative of you think, you must make them representative of you, not the other way around. Youth involvement in politics is very important, and I urge you to look at what's going on, at what's happened, what politicians what to do to your country. This is your future that they will build, and you must have a say in how it is built and who is entrusted to build it. You must know what politicians stand and you must be able to make a decision on what and who you support. I want to make that process easier for you, I want to help provide the information directly to you. That is why I am launching 'Your Future' a newsletter on the ongoing of politics, the legislation being considered, what politicians are proposing and it will affect you. I hope this will help you understand politics and help you make a decision on who and what you support.

I hope this will help, and in a world of uncertainty, conflict, and division, I hope you the next generation can help build a world better than our current one. I hope you can build the life skills that I learned here, and that you can take it into the workforce and help make the world a better place. That you will be able to stand for what's right, and stand up to those trying to control you. You will sent out to achieve and help others even if it doesn't look favorable towards you. "My lord, ain't Dallas purty! Now, If this ain't no texan welcome for a sonna dixie, then I don't know what constitutes such an honor! I feel like I am gittin' my tribute n' triumph! Why shouldn't I?! I held aloft my mighty voice and managed to slay the beast known as the civil rights enforcement act. I have stood up for the deep south against bullyin' by Fraser and their crew, by Douglas and his crew and even President Davis and his crew! I am the champion of the white man, and they know I am their champion. They had better damn well know anyhow...

Now, I did not just come down here just t' boar all y'all, that's what a good meanin' speech from President Davis does! Did y'all here that snoozer o' his state of the union? I think I fell asleep on occasion, but that's just because I'm not as young as I once was. I can no longer hold aloft a rifle n' shoot the shit outta a rampagin' negro. No, that's why the next 'ration's there 'fore! It's to ensure that the Caucasian race is supreme in the south. I will be damned if , in the next generation, the southern states are slaves to the racial radicals such as the fellers that made that mess inna 'siana n' new orleans! What's to say those commie negroes won't see their methods lead to desegregation n' they start marchin' inna Richmond, Tallahassee n' even my native Cedar Grove! If the dumb damned negro bastards git a hunded paces from my front porch, he'll meet the ol' belleau wood special if y'all know what I mean!

Yes, we shall blow every single one of the damned protestin' negroes to kingdom come if they wanna link arms n' try t' stop our tanks! If I'm elected President, tanks will see to it, crewed by good white genetlemen n' their sons t' ensure law n' order. We cannot have riots in these streets. We cannot allow to have turmoil in the southern confederac-uknitted states. Americans will not stand for radicals burnin' down local bissness n' terrorize their communities n' hurt their white wimmen. The african is a savage, that's why segregation ensures that both sides are apart. If they mix, this is the result, you got negroes killin' so many poor white babies n' the incident when a white man stubs the toe of some darkie Negro by accident. That's what was in nawlins, it is the first instance, it's the calm before the storm.

If y'all decide to go headlong for Davis n' back Jack or lord forbid the Frasers, then you shall reap the whirlwinds in the south! I am the only candidate that shall ensure a new antebellum age within the Southern United States! While I do not go as far as some on the right and argue for succession, as I am a firm, proud American, I am also a damn proud Mississippian, who will not stand idly by as state's rights are trampled thanks to an encorachin' federal gubment! Many candidates on both sides are all talk, I am a man of action. I can point t' my actions in filibusterin' illegal encroachment o' gubment over the humble white Mississippian, Alabaman n' Louisianan. I fought to defend the south from liberal-commie even, agitators.

I am defendin' the constitution, just a certain 'terperation o' it. It's the 'terpreation that says the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments are full of shit. That's the kind I shall seek to push in the Senate. We do not need such radical amendments. Every good, god fearin' white man ought to have at least twenty negro slaves! That I say in jest. But the idea's appealin', It might even drop the unemployment rate for the negro race, and all it would cost was a buncha silly 'constitutional rights'. The negro man don't got no rights! If the white man gave them liberty and freed them from bondage, I'mma say now we can just as easily take it back with the stroke o' a pen or the hammer o' a gavel! I am in the mold of Senator John Williams, a proud resident o' Cedar Grove and a damn good politikan if I do say so myself!

I shall ensure the white man, the poor man and the rich man are all brought under one good roof. I shall ensure and seek to ensure the purity of this country. I shall simplify the tax system, bolster our national defense, lower taxes for poor fellers like yerself among my many, many campaign promises that shall be compromises. While I promise y'all everythin' 'cludin' thems kitchen ss-sink, I'll have to remind all y'all that I am just one man. If I git in the white house, I shall have to work wit thems idjits inna Congress. Which is why down-ballot races are also key. I want a full gubment trifecta. If us Democrats can keep the Senate and House, it won't matter who's the president, though I'd like it to be me, of course!

However, I shall make no promises on my overall goals if I do not end up as the nominee of the Democratic Party. It's still a lotta t' thinks 'bouts, honest wit' all y'alls. It's a hard-ass decision for a hard-ass senator, so I think I won't have much 'fficulty inna comin' t' a 'cision on that there's issues. So long as it ain't no radical racial, miscegenationist married negro, I don't think we'll have much t' worry 'bout. Huey, now Huey seems like an acceptable presidential candidate, so long as Earl's still absent from the political battlefield, it just means more rallies for me, and cheap bottles o' coke n' fresh doughnuts for the rest o' y'all, so it ain't all bad, now ain't it? Y'all gits hot fresh doughnuts n' I gits to speeks clearies to all y'alls 'bout how Davis is the fuckin' devil. It's a win-win for all o' America!

As I am defendin' the constitution, there are those that seek to ruin such a cherished document. I have no qualms in callin' them out by name, Representative Doug, Senator Frasher n' her hot husband o' his-hers, even Senator Earl! Earl wants to push onto you, the american tax payer, the largest tax increase in modern memory. He shall try to tack on an equity tax. We do not need more taxation, stealin poor farmers hard earned cash. Instead, all hard-workin' americans need a tax break. That is what a Sharp administration shall have top priority on. Lower taxes will mean more cash in your pocket, stimulatin' thems 'conomeys n' shit like that. Y'all know how it works by now. Y'all had better, lest I talk to a-buncha idjits like all y'alls! Thank y'all Dallas, you're my kind of slack-jawed locals and people o' the dirt poor farmer! The Deep south knows her champion, and I shall seek a divorce to be driven to the white house thanks to y'alls backs!

"Hello Norfolk, Virginia and fellow Americans, listening this speech in person, over radio or over television. Today, however, I speak in more general terms to whole of the south, in a way Imagine you might never have, if rarely ever, heard a yank speak of it. Through this still very young campaign, I have had the opportunity, the privilege, to see all sorts of types of people in these southern states, from Jackson to Orlando, from Raleigh to the New Orleans. This is the part, where many a politician would give you a flowery speech, full of Purple prose and anecdotes. I won't. I will be very precisely is what I say here and listen closely when I say it. During the so-termed, Reconstruction period of this country, that followed the end of our war between brothers, the North of this country, ended up, despite many a great intention, did a disservice to the south. I do not only, mean, as might assume, that we neglected to secure the rights of Blacks. Nor do I mean in a round about way that we also in doing that failed the poor whites of the south. But that the North specifically failed the south, as a whole, in the economic sense, largely as a result of economic policy that was pursued by northern finance and professionals through a mix of sometimes good, sometimes selfish, intent. During the long depression that stemmed form the Panic of 1873 and onward, The United States pursued a policy of that had the effect of being a form of monetary bondage, that starved people of all regions but particularly the south, which had faced the damage of military campaigns more than anyone else, of the credit that was needed for investment in employment and productivity. As a result, the south, lagged behind the rest of the country through no fault of it's own, until today where it is definitely been made less well off than the northern parts of the union.

This was to noone's benefit in the end, rather than it being the result of purposeful conspiracy, it was the result of timidity on the part of northern merchants and industrialists in bucking economic orthodoxy while the world changed under their feet. But blame or no blame, this was a misdeed, that requires rectification, not only on behalf of the south, but for the soul of this country. I picked this state, this venue and this day for a particular reason, connected to the contents of the speech so far and to what is to come. Today, way back in 1862, during the civil war, was the conclusion of the Battle of Hampton Roads. It was the first battle of ironclad steam ships in history, between the USS Monitor and CSS Virginia. There, the height of American ingenuity, both North and South clashed. Though It concluded indecisively, it's effect on the future of naval technology and militaries around the world was decisive, for the largest navy of the time, the British navy, ended the construction of further wooden ships. Even during a war between brothers, American ingenuity and industry lead the world and the south showed it's own technological adaptivity.

So In honor of that struggle and in recognition of all that I've said before, I propose a new protect to benefit the south and america as a whole, to clad our union in iron and progress and rectify the economic ills of recosntruction period. I call it Ironclad Construction. The center piece of this, will be a recognition of the great benefits that have been brought by the existence of the Tennessee Valley Authority, the affordable energy it's brought, the improvements to agriculture, the development of industry and apply those now, to the whole of the south. While the exact form must be decided upon in consultation with the people of the south, I can assure you that it'll be a project that'll apply the form and function of the TVA to southern USA, whether by expanding and reforming the TVA, or currenting new organizations directly comparable to it.

To those who criticize the effectiveness of this plan, I ask that they clarify why the benefits of the TVA should not be made available to the south as a whole and if they dispute those benefits, explain how it is they intend to do away with TVA, as clearly they'd be operating under the assumption that the TVA is in of it's self a bad idea. I doubt the people of Tennessee or the south as a whole has much time for such positions, but for the sake of ensuring that opposition to this element of my developing Ironclad Construction plan is routed in sincere political belief rather than corrupt obstructionism, I ask that they explain their views. In any case, this is simply the first feature of this campaign's Ironclad Construction plan, that will work specifically to improve the circumstances of the south, not through pity and charity, but the investment in providing an opportunity for the south to thrive, and return with interest the cost of the potential destroyed by decades of unfair economic impositions of the south, even as we fearlessly ensure obedience to the constitution in the rights it provides all regardless of race, color or creed.

The result of another four years of a Republican presidency would be the suffering of our farmers and laborers, the decay of our public works, and the waning of our defense and technology sectors in the face of waxing Soviet power. Let me remind you all of the reign of the do-nothing Republican Herbert Hoover, who let the country nearly drown in the depression. The Great Depression created not only unemployment, but a dramatic downturn in the economy, exacerbating unemployment, food and commodity inflation, and also debilitation of the foundations of democratic stability. The man who presided over the rebuilding of this economy, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, ran for the common citizen. I too will be the President of all the people of this country, rich and poor, young and old, Republican and Democrat, men and women, young and old, the old and young. The forgotten man, the forgotten woman will have my ear as they the citizens sit on my executive committee. When I go to the White House, I want a fair press that will write truthfully. I want freedom of speech and freedom of the press for all of the media that will support this beautiful nation. I am also going to work hard and do all that I can to earn the confidence and vote of every American, regardless of political affiliation. This can be done. Time is running short on the terms of old rabble rousers. It’s time for America to look towards healing and look towards progress.

Now that thems formaleetees is a shot quicker than some negro in my native southern homeland o' 'ssippii, I just wanted to talk. Talk 'bout what? Oh, a whole slew o' issues n' what have all y'all that'll be on your mind at least a lil' when y'all vote in the Democratic Primary. I shall talk of my policies. Now, many o' y'all in the audience musta be a scratchin' yer noggins as to why listen to a senile old democrat, as the majority whip lampoons this gentlemen of dixie. I'll give y'all one good reason. I'm old. I am old and wise beyond my years. Do I ramble on 'cassion? Oh hell yes. If your grandpa don't ramble on 'bout 'least one ol'tinny story,then you're grand-pa sucks!

I have been runnin' on two main issues. Now I'm damn well aware that y'all need more than two tricks on a pony or even a pontiac in order to be taken seriously politikaly-wise, but It is emblemnatic of my political life inna 'ssippii. My mission from god himself has been to keep cotton prices up and the negroe down! For that, I take inspiration, if not homage to a fat-assed Soul 'Linan 'litican called Ellison Durant Smith. Now, Smith was a fat-ass, and I am skinny. There's nothin' wrong to bein' 'big-boned' as it were, but the man ought t'have exercised a lil' bit more. Now, if any o' y'all are wonderin' how I have been doin' inna keepin' the negro race down, a race which is so dirty, slimey and untrusting that they deliberately ran themselves over and jumped infronta those cars inna 'nawlins. A damn tragedy down there it was boy! It's not paintin' us defenders o' the southern way o' life inna the best light now it is-is it? No!


As much as my opponents seek to tie me to a rampant anti-new deal, anti-roosevelt policy, platforms and ideas that those braniacs inna their focus groups n' political dumbasses are just jockeyin' t' take down this old man. I make a clear difference with respect to President Roosevelt. I supported Roosevelt throughout Worl' War Two. I should know as a poor grunt that fought inna trench n' at belleau wood inna' Worl' War Wan. I saw things that no man, no woman n' certainly no chillen ought to do. I've done things there that still keep me up at night inna Cedar Grove. I was a cheerleader for the damned cripple! I 'member bein' privy to committee meetins, meetin's that when we left those rooms we understood that the weight of the free world was on our shoulders. As much as every man n' wimmen was a fightin' on the front or at home, I was wagin' a political one. I was ensurin' that supply lines, supply chains were kept up to date. I also had to deal with comfortin' the less fortunate. I don't mean no damned negro mind all y'all, I meant the poor widows n' grannies n' fathers n' mothers that lost boys. It was one of the hardest parts of bein' a representative, to divide time between yer office n' yer constituents is a balance I'm still workin' on anyhow.

What I did not support, was the New Deal. A New Deal that exacerbated our financial woes n' lead to even more unemployment n' 'pression n' what have all y'alls! It was a New Deal that lead to more hungry mothers, a New Deal that lead to even more poverty n' crime in this fair land, and it was a New Deal which jacked up an unprecendented federal expansion into the lives o' every day americans. Y'all had the WPA, CWA, and TVA, all forms of gub'ment lipstick labled 'federalism' onto a fat ass pig. W'all know what that pigs is named, socialism! Older americans can be better served on their own, with minimal assistance from the federal gubment. That is what the family order, a sacred bond of parents takin' care o' their grandpappies till' their death, was disturbed as wimmen went off to gits a fancy schmancy J-O-B! Wimmen don't need no job, if a man can't provide for his family he ought to just be called a womman n' left to cook n' clean instead o' bein' the breadwinner for the family!

Now, we've got Boone here, the Senator from Tennassee-Nor'Carolina general area n' callin' for the largest amount o' gubment over-reach since that horrible, no good new deal. The man has good intentions, I will give him that benifit. He wishes to have an end to the aptly named 'Davis Recession' which has hurt many a common fellers like all o' y'alls. He wants to give every damn one o' y'all money n' checks n' welfare n' shit like that. I'm a lil' different, I'll give the poor tax breaks, not cut them damn checks. The poor don't need handouts. Farmers like myself don't need no handouts, they just need Uncle Sam to back off from breathin' down their necks to 'bout a safe arms-length away. Enough to intervene when god-almightly smites the dumb bastard for buildin' his farm inna floodzone, but not so much that the farmers become lazy, no good commie bastards.

That's what Earl is proposing. What he calls a "best deal" is obviously bullshit. He's full of shit. A dumbass with respect to basic 'rithmetic n' what have all y'all! Now math's my own worst enemy, so I don't blame the man for hatin' numbers. He shall languish the good fileds of this country. Millions of acres of farmland will turn idle n' to worthlessness. What this Senator is proposing is commienism, socialism and any kind o' 'isim that's no good! The man is clearly a pyromaniac. Why else would he propose the solution to a burnin' buildin' which is this economy under the incompetent management of President Davis, is to dump more fire onto the buildin. We don't need to fight fire wit fire, try to spend and tax our way outta our problems, we need water to put the damn fire out! We need a buncha fir-men.

That is what I am! Fireman Sharp! Instead of having the government involed in every, minute detail of your lives, why not have some breathin' room? Why not have a breathin' home! A man is the king of his castle, and he sure as hell don't need no damn burecraut tellin' him what he's doin' wrong n' how much he owes the tax man just fer tellin' him that! Taxes will be lowered in a Sharp Administration. The poor will be in a much better position once I am elected President. The poor have been my frens, along with thems rich fellers too! Just raise enough on the middle class to make up some sort o' difference. That's why I voted against statehood of D.C, why I was so vocal in my opposition to ratifying the amendment, and why I was so vocal against statehood of Alaska, for example. It's because we've got the estate tax. "Hello New Haven, and what what a wonderful city you are. I toured around the city earlier today, and you're nice people, I thank you for the hospitality. It's a shame that this city has fallen upon tough times, like so many other cities you have left behind by large industrial corporations. This rapid industrial decline has left many of you unemployed, good people, hard working people left unemployed through no fault of their own. The fact is you've outlived your usefulness to them, the large industrial corporations don't need you anymore, they've moved elsewhere to find cheap labor in third world countries or they've used all the resources they could find. Some politicians want to reward these big businesses, or say that we should in the footsteps of these third world countries without strong governments or regulations making labor cheap and practically enslaving the less well off. They want to punish the poor and reward the rich, this is the mindset of many republicans such as Jonathan Jackson, he wants to give tax breaks to large corporations for "employing" more people, but he also wants to get rid of the minimum wage. It's almost as if he's asking these large corporations take advantage of the poor, of the unemployed, of the less well off and enslave having corporations pay them little to nothing, and he will reward them for doing so.

That is a America of Jonathan Jackson, a military general who doesn't know much else. He knows how to crush enemies, not how make allies. He suppressed political dissidents in Japan who dared to object to his policies. Freedom of speech and freedom of press will be restricted under his watch, and the cold war may very well go nuclear. Jackson wants to essentially brain wash our children, we've seen it with his so called youth program. He advocates for instilling moral values into our children, but we all know what that means, we've seen in dictatorships across the world. He has no regard for the division of church and state engrained in the constitution. He wants to get rid of what he sees as pesky regulations, regulations that protect the American people and stand in the way of his political goals, and punish his allies.

At least others such as Senator Josh Sharp of Mississippi are more forward and honest about their goals. He actively reminisces about the Antebellum Era, slavery, child labor, he admits he hates the poor. He lives on a plantation, where as we know slaves were kept and worked. He threatens to reverse all the progress we have achieved, the progress that has gotten us to what we have today, and the technological advances we have today. Senator Sharp wants to dial back the clock to the antebellum era, how will we compete with the Soviet Union as they continue the development of weapons while we are trying to dial back the clock to an era of slavery and division. We must invest more in our military, in science and development, we must be united in the face of this threat. But we also must provide good progressive ideas, we must tend to our people, this a war unlike anything we have seen before, a war of ideas, in order to the people and world on our side we must provide and we must show we have the best ideas. Senator Sharp wants to put children, CHILDREN, in conditions adults can't even manage. We need to protect our children not put them in danger, we need to protect them from people like Senator Josh Sharp. We saw the images of children in those coal mines, they were dying in there, we shouldn't send them back in there. Think of your children, think of your grandchildren, do you want them to die in coal mines to benefit the few, the rich, the powerful like Senator Josh Sharp. Reject these ideas, vote against Senator Sharp in the Democratic Primary, tell your state representatives to ratify the Child Labor Amendment.

Now Senator Sharp says that I seek to ruin the constitution, he says he is the one defending the constitution, in the same speech he says to blatantly disregard the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. The amendments that abolish slavery, ensure equal protection, and grants everyone the right to vote. Senator Sharps seems to think that not following the constitution is defending it. I'm sorry to break to him, but it's the oppose, you first need to follow the constitution before you are able to defend it. We must ensure that the constitution and all of it's amendments are put into force in all states of this great union.

Now forgive me as I talk about the governance of your neighbor. The Governor of New York, Tom Fraser, who is he? Well he's running for President, but has he done as Governor of New York? Well I don't think he was governor for even a month before he declared his run for President. He didn't do much as Governor and now he's abandoned them, you should at least get some work done before moving on to another job. The truth is though Fraser never cared for the job as it seems, he just saw it as a stepping stone to his next office. He doesn't care to govern, to unite, he only cares to campaign, to divide. What does it mean to run for office, if you don't want to do anything in the office? He has shown he does not govern, he does not want work for the people, maybe he thinks he can give more to his allies in he's higher office. I know this though, we cannot trust and elect Tom Fraser to the presidency.

Governor Fraser grew up in the upper class, he got jobs because of his family's connections. He doesn't know your struggle, the struggle of the average American trying to make end's meet. He was an executive at U.S. Steel an industrial corporation, which has its similarities with the industrial corporations that have abandoned this city. Like General Jackson and many others in the Republican Party he wants to reward big business we see this in his wife's FREE Act. And while I support the minimum income aspect of the bill that will support the unemployed such as many people in your city. I cannot support the other aspects of this bill such as getting rid of the minimum wage that has provided people with a steady income. As I said earlier this will allow corporation enslave workers paying them little to nothing, as well as removing the cap on weekly hours, that will really allow corporation to enslave people. These protections and regulations are in place for a reason, that is to protect people. The PROGRESS Act tabled by Senator Fraser by contrast will help the American people, beginning infrastructure programs creating jobs like it did in the New Deal, raising the minimum giving workers more money. This PROGRESS Act is a bill that will bring progress to America and I urge my colleagues in the Senate to pass this bill. Republicans like Governor Fraser and General Jackson, as well as one particular democrat, they don't work for you, they work for large corporations. It is Democrats like Senator Lahde, Senator Boone, and Senator Oswald of the state up north, these are the politicians working for you.

"Hello Charleston, West Virginia and fellow Americans, listening to this speech in person, over radio or over television. As a candidate in the Republican Presidential campaign, I wish to speak of you to explain how a Fraser administration would aid in the progression of industry and progress, that West Virginia, in it's production of coal and steel, has long been at the center of. But first, without naming names, I wish to criticize the ridiculous arguments of a few small minded men that are running for president through the democratic ticket, though I am not so partisan enough to ignore that we on the republican side have our own small minded men. There are those who make promises of change or more change, insisting that the republicans haven't delivered positive change and that given that chance, the democrats would some how do more. The Democrats had 14 years of a congressional majority, and 16 straight years in the presidency. All the creative energy behind the New Deal they trumpeted has been exhausted, they did all they could imagine to do, as they could do all that they imagined. Unlike some in both parties, I will admit that It did more good that it did bad. However it is something to be surpassed, not something to be patched up, for doing so risks causing more long term issues through it's flaws. That is why, I support the FREE Act, to ensure a living income for all those who work and pursue work, rather than depend on an arbitrary minimum wage, which is disproportionately paid for by small businesses, low and middle income consumers, rural America and the unemployed, or corporate tax subsidies that shovel money directly into the hands of the already wealthy while plundering small businesses of workers and lowering productivity. It's why I propose reinforcing and reforming social security, by guaranteeing and adjusting with inflation existing payments, removing the caps on FICA and SECA contributions to ensure that the well off pay more into it, creating a Federal Permanent Fund that said contributions pay into, which will put the dollars to work by investing flat amount into the equity of all publicly traded companies, which will allow the fund to be capitalized by dividend payments.

It's why the Fraser Campaign has proposed a national employee benefits program, focused on health care and workplaces injury insurance, to ensure all business, big and small, can be competitive in hiring and maintaining employees when they can not provide comparable programs on their own. It's why the Fraser Campaign supports the FORTIFY Act, to expand access to childcare for working women, increasing our economic and military capacity in our fight against communism. That is only a few of the proposals and aims associated with the Fraser Campaign, that looks to surpass the New Deal by building on it's strengths and cutting out it's weaknesses.

But that is not all that I wish to talk about and those proposals, though they will benefit west Virginia, are not directly relevant to the greatest industries of this state, coal and steel. For that, I must speak more of what a Fraser Administration will fight for in the realm of infrastructure. Firstly, I have recently released the first part of what I call Ironclad Construction, an effort to ensure that the South's economic potential unfortunately armed by federal neglect, is brought up to where it ought to be. The signature means by which this is to be accomplished, is by the expansion of the Tennessee Valley Authority model, across the full breadth of the southern united states, including means why which additional states may participate. This will lead to a building spree across an entire region of America, and that steel will need coal to forge, directly benefitting this state, not through a handout, but through creating the opportunity for the playing of an integral role in the continued economic development not only of the south, but in connection, the whole of these united states.

But the opportunities for increase demand for coal and steel under a Fraser Administration do not stop there. A Fraser administration will pursue an aggressive plan to increase rail usage at all levers and of both the passenger and rate variety. The Interstate Commerce Commission's regulation of rail, for example, while generally well meaning, has often served as a burden to the railroad industry, that has seen the transition to freight by road in circumstances where it is simply inefficient. The new Interstate highway system being built is something to be proud of, proud of the the extent that we want to see it's preservation, not brought to ruination due to the over deployment of trucks on roads when goods would better be delivered by rail. These United States are a national railroad plan, with national coordination and investment, which has the added benefit of creating more in the coal and steel industry and increasing the profits of steel and coal business the leverage of workers looking for better wages and the businesses and worker's who's income is attached to them. Speaking of business large and small, a Fraser Administration will fight to replace our existing corporate tax system with one that brings complete relief to non-publicly trade businesses and transition to a means of revenue from publicly traded corporations that ensures the state and it's revenue swims with, the strengthening of the economy by replacing the corporate tax with a share levy. Further more on the issue of tax reform, a Fraser administration will undertake efforts to encourage states to phase out sales taxes, which disproportionately hit low and middle income individuals.

Further more on tax reform, I can announce ahead of time, that the Fraser Campaign will soon be releasing it's plan on the simplification of the tax code, particular the income tax, who's system of marginal taxation is needlessly complex and obstructs the real percentages that are paid for by individuals. All in all, the Fraser Campaign for a Fraser Administration, seeks to engage in bold progressive action, that promotes a light touch on the powerful engine of the market and free enterprise, while protecting individuals from negative consequences beyond their control and improving institutions so individuals may be more productive in the free market.

GOVERNOR STOLTZMAN DELIVERS ON SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PROMISE WITH NEW SERIES OF LAWS
March 11th, 1959

LA TIMES — Governor Thomas Stoltzman on Wednesday signed off on a slew of bills from the California State Legislature in a move which will affect labor, agriculture, education, and bring to fruition the long awaited State Water Project which he has spoken of and planned since his first gubernatorial term. These laws aim to address several of the state’s major problems and signal commitment to the promises he made to state residents in his second inaugural address this January, what he referred to then as the "Southern California Promise".

One law allocates state funds toward extensive control programs against Kharpa beetles and Mexican Fruit flies which threaten the citrus and deciduous fruit industry. Another law makes provisions for anticipated enrollment increases at schools, and for a
construction program to provide more classrooms and other facilities needed for even still greater enrollments. This is especially relevant to Los Angeles, where facilities haven’t kept pace with population growth for several years.

In a statement shortly after the passage of these laws, Stoltzman wrote, "In California, the explosive growth of our population and economy strains the fabric of government. We must accept both the perils and the promise of this magnificent growth. We cannot afford to be unresponsive and inert. In passing these four bills into law, I honor my pledge of confident, pioneering leadership, with readiness to welcome our state’s growth, pursue its promise, and prepare for tomorrow."

"Today, let us turn our eyes to the future -- toward tomorrow. Toward the world that we wish to build for our children. A world governed by a healthy balance of progress and common sense, where institutions move and adapt with the times, and where all Americans are supported in pursuing their lives and careers," Stoltzman said. "Last November, a free people called for the continuation of our new vision for California. Today, we continued the solemn duty and high privilege of translating that vision into public policy and into law."

Perhaps most important in this group of laws is the establishment of the California State Water Project to deliver water for homes, treatment plants, industries, services and energy across the state, but particularly for arid Southern California. The current water resources are currently proving insufficient for the growth of the region’s population, urban areas and industries. The project also aims to control and mitigate flooding as part of the state’s continuing actions to prevent catastrophic natural events in the aftermath of the infamous Northern California floods of 1955 which killed 37. Wednesday’s move also fulfills Stoltzman’s campaign pledge to use the California Department of Water Resources which he created in 1956 to oversee the conceptualized water management project.

Democrat Joshua Sharp collected his thoughts as his butt was firmly glued to the aging red leather that adorned the elderly automobile. It was almost co-incidental, he was driving an old car for an old man while sitting on an old seat designed for older men like himself. It still brought slight twinges of back pain to him, a fact that made a slight chuckle break the silence of the car, if just for a moment before his ears took in the downpour of wet real estate from the outside. Eventually, the man glances out at the window at a covered area where neatly dressed car hoppers and attendants were clamoring for both money and keys. Senator Sharp gingerly applied the breaks, just enough to avoid denting the car in front of him. Then he let go of the breaks just for the bumpers of the car ahead to be kissed by the blue Chevrolet.

"Hot damn, there we goes!" A light tap on his window brought a twinge of irritation at the interruption to the slight fender-bender. His eyes turned and his face twisted into a stiff frown as he locked eyes on a pair of green orbs and buck teeth.
"Sir, please git on' outta the cars."
With a moan, Joshua Sharp undid his do-it-yourself seatbelt of a rusted hatch and an even more shoddy looking strap of somewhat questionable leather, yanked his wallet from the dash and threw a nickle at the driver.
"Park it in the middle of the damn street will ya?"
"Sir, that's illegal."
Senator Sharp's eyes widened at the news.
"Oh. Now I know. well how much will a nickle git me?"
"It'll git me to sit in it, then git outta it old man."
"Two things, one, that's bullshit. Two, If I give you mr. 'I freed the damn slaves' will y'all look the other way n' park it somewhere nice?"
"Maybe if y'all gits Grant."
Senator Sharp's face dropped slightly at the larger amount before shaking his head no, throwing three five dollar bills at the chauffer before turning around, the only digit showing to the protesting chauffer being his middle one as he entered the hotel. He immediatly was greeted by a slight moment of motion sickness as he spun a few too many times around in the revolving door before orientating himself outside the hotel. Shaking his head, he managed to enter the hotel this time and set his sights on the bar.

Walking over to it, he pounded his hand on the table before slapping down a couple Washington dollar bills.
"I'd like a coke with a splash of lemon juice if y'all gots anys. Oh, and a touch of rum." As Senator Sharp got more comfortable on his seat, he turned his head to notice a familiar face.
"Hot damn... Huey, that other senator from 'ssippii what's your name... Truman, Turner?"

"It's Turner, Senator. Frank Turner. Former general for the US military. You might remember me from Italy." He continued, having a far less distinct accent than the two men and taking a seat. "Why don't you two take a seat. Also, Senator, it's pronounced merde," He caustically replied, with a slight condescending tone about him, "As they say in France, tu es être rond comme une queue de pelle." pronouncing in perfect Metropolitan French. "Regardless of that fact, why don't we get to business? Tell me, gentlemen, what do you think of the so-called 'Civil Rights Act' that made it way through the House and Senate thanks to those damn liberals?"
