Understanding the Pool

The players number 1-11 would be considered the starting 11 if the cup started today. The players 12-24 would be backups. Every player behind them is competing for the those 23 spots throughout qualification. When the team qualifies for the World Cup (or the Cup of Harmony, should they fall short) the pool will be cut down, and the numbers will be reassigned to the final squad. Throughout qualifying, starting rosters and the bench at each game will feature a different mix of players from the pool.

Stadium Information

All Oberour Ar Moro home matches will be played at the venerable Parade Grounds in the capital of Regium, capacity 49,670.

RS Ivan Županović - 23 - NK Torpedo Melarit

GK Jure Iveša - 26 y - NK Čelik Raduč
Jure Iveša was born in the town of Raduč ( 195 cm, 89 kg). Raduč is a town known for its steel mine and steel production. But it is also known for the automotive industry, the production of railway compositions as well as aircraft parts. At the age of 6, Iveša joined the football club Automobili Raduč. At the age of 10 he switched to athletics, high jump, but at the age of 11 he returned to football but to another club. He enrolled in the football club Čelik Raduč, where he has remained until now. He was named the best goalkeeper in the league.

LB Danijela Majić - 23 y - NK Bistua Nuova
Danijela Majić, 185 cm and 70 kg, was born in Bistua Nuova. She comes from a sports family. Hers mother was a handball player, today she is a coach and hers father was a football player and today he coaches a football club in which Danijela , NK Bistua Nuova, is also. Bistua Nuova won the DR Srednjaci championship in the women's competition and currently has no relevant opponent in the league. Danijela is adorned with great technique and speed, she often takes corners but also uses hers speed to penetrate to the attack.

CB Ivan Kušić - 26 y - NK Dinamo Katanija
Ivan Kušić ,186 cm and 75 kg, was born in the small town of Plava Laguna near Melarit. He made his first football steps in NK Plava Laguna. In high school he moved to Melarit to study. There he started playing for the home club, Mladost Melarit. With his games as an 18-year-old, he attracted the attention of major clubs and signed a contract with Dinamo Katanija. He won the championship and the cup with that club. Great pillar of the club's defense, with an overview of the game. He is strong in duels, fast, but his technique is also great.

CB Franko Rušković - 27 y - NK Mladost Melarit - Captain
Franko Rušković, 188 cm and 78 kg, an insurmountable pillar of defense. A very intelligent player with incredible agility and endurance. Strong and corpulent, they won duels in 92% of cases. He started playing football at the age of 10, before football he tried volleyball and tennis. He stayed in football and led his club NK Mladost Melarit to the second position in the league, but also to winning the cup. He was named the best football player in the league for last season, but also the best defensive player in the league.

RB Zoran Šutić - 25 y - NK Archer Kula
Zoran Šutić, 183 cm and 70 kg, he was born in the town of Kula. Despite his club fighting not to drop out of the league, Zoran is one of the bright spots of the drowning club. Zoran was brilliant in his position and Archery Kula will probably be left without its best player. There is talk of negotiations with Torpedo Melarit, a team that entered the first league from the second league.

CDM Heong Min Ho - 25 y- NK Dinamo Katanija
An amazing player, fast and always in the right place. The accuracy in the passes is amazing and the technique is amazing. He was born in Katanija and started playing football at the age of six. From the beginning, he was Dinamo Catania and with that club he is the champion of DR Srednjaci. He is 178 cm tall and weighs 68 kg.

LW Davida Zimmer - 24 y - NK Bistua Nuova
Davida Zimmer , 176 cm and 66 kg, a fast football player who creates problems on the left wing. A great football player who is an unsolvable enigma in the league. She was named the best football player in that position and she deserved an invitation to the national team with great statistics. 22 goals in the season, 18 assists and an accuracy of 87%. The speed in the sprint is amazing, 80 meters ran in 10.24 seconds. It has an excellent and precise shot from the edge of 16 meters and it is the most dangerous.

RW Takanobu Tavano - 23 y- NK Dinamo Katanija
The best player in that position and probably the best player in the league ever. The ceiling is 177 cm high and weighs 67 kilograms. Probably a fast player on the right wing is simply unstoppable. Because of his speed and technique, two players run into him in defense and sometimes three. This creates a surplus on the field and is very dangerous there. With one jerk he is able to add the ball with incredible precision. Its market price is dizzying. In the cup against Lokomotiva Raduč, a club from the second league, Tavano scored an incredible 6 goals. With Dinamo Katanija he is the league champion and he scored 18 goals and gave 33 assists.

CF Ante Tomljanović - 25 y - NK Čelik Raduč
Tomljanović is a unique player. He plays as an offensive midfielder, central foreward but can also play as a striker. A player who has almost everything. He is 182 cm tall, which is quite high for his position. But he is very agile, strong and technically great. He scored the most goals with his head from the corner, he can jump high and the defenders who should guard him are usually lower than him.

ST Isidor Matković - 24 y - NK Torpedo Melarit
Isidor Matković, 183 cm and 79 kg , the absolute star of the league. Torpedo Melarit entered the first from the second league and Matković is their best player, the club's top scorer, the top scorer of the second league and a player who has incredible skills. His sense of goal is the most pronounced of all the players in DR Srednjaci. Incredible shot, strong and technically refined. His turn and sprint are famous. It is difficult to keep him because he is constantly on the move and in addition to goals, he is often an assistant. He is the most talented player in the league and he will surely lead the battle with Tavan to be the best player in the league. Top scorer of national team on Baptism of Fire tournament.

ST Li Peng - 25 y - NK Mladost Melarit
Li Peng , 181 cm and 78 kg , the best striker of his club. He led Mladost Melarit to win the cup. In the final against Dinamo Katanija, he scored a hat trick and had one assist for the 4: 2 victory. Named the player of the match but also the top scorer for last season in the league with 41 goals.

Pratapgadh National Football Team - NS World Cup 88

Postby Pratapgadh » Sun Apr 25, 2021 5:29 pm

Pratapgadh National Football Team

Finally, the Pratapgadhis have returned to the largest sporting event in the multiverse, the NationStates World Cup. Last seen in the 85th edition of the NS World Cup, Pratapgadh are making their return in the 88th edition of the World Cup. It was once considered a nation with immense potential in football but is now back down to level 0. The first national football team died in a plane crash in 2021, killing everyone on board. That was the beginning of the dark period of football. The Pratapgadh Football Federation also ceased to exist in 2022. Football was on the brink of extinction. However, in 2024, the Pratapgadh Football Association was formed with the goal of reigniting the passion for football in Pratapgadh and develop the game further. This edition of the NS World Cup is crucial for PFA, the national team, and the whole nation. Can Pratapgadh make their comeback a memorable one? Or will they collapse and this becomes the final chapter of football in Pratapgadh? We will know soon...

Home Venue
Image
Chittorgarh National Stadium
The Chittorgarh National Stadium is the home venue of the Pratapgadh national football team which has a capacity of 35,000. It is located in the city of Chittorgarh in the state of Rajputana, built in the year 2005. It was the first football stadium ever built during the time when football was quite new to Pratapgadh. First introduced in 1992, football quickly reached the hearts of millions of Pratapgadhis and became quite a popular sport around 1998. So in early 2023, the government-owned PRT Constructions announced the construction of the Chittorgarh National Stadium. The construction of the stadium commenced in early 2004 and finished by mid-2005. This stadium became a big part of the Pratapgadhi football culture and Pratapgadhi football legends such as Jagdish Ambekar and Lankesh Talati played here.

This stadium is now home to Chittorgarh FC, a club which participates in the Pratapgadh Super Cup. Pratapgadh's home game against Starblaydia for the NS World Cup 88 Qualifying Stage will mark the 20th year of the stadium's existence.

Sahuarita
Formation: 4-2-4
Style Mod: +5
Most Likely To...
Score: Anthony Sáez
Assist: Rubén Covarrubias
Get a caution: Hugo Espiga
Score a late game goal: Christian Quesada

Coaching
Head Coach: Franco Tejedor
Pronunciation: Franc-oh Ta-yeh-door
Age: 49
Experience: 21-35, Midfielder, Zapomoros United Image
36-41, Assistant, Zapamoros United Image
42-46, Head Coach, Zapamoros United Image
47-, NT Head Coach + Head Coach, Zapamoros United Image
An offensive minded genius, Franco Tejedor has experience at the top level of play for Sahuaritan Football. Tejedor played 14 years in the Liga Sahuarita. His tactics may seem different from many, as despite not playing an extremely offensive formation, his squad still plays the ball towards the net for most of the game. He will launch “Attack, Fall Back” plays, where the entire Midfield and Striker units will launch an all out attack, before falling back past midfield to get back and defend. His experience of coaching at an offensive minded top level is obviously a good piece for international play, where, as we have been seeing, squads seem to get more and more offensive minded by the cycle.

Assistants
Cristóbal Martínez
Pronunciation: Cris-toe-ball Mar-teen-yez
Age: 39
Experience: 19-27, Striker, Tijuahua FC Image
28-31, Assistant, Tijuahua FC Image
32-39, Head Coach, Huixtoca Farms FC Image
Once regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the entire nation, Cristóbal Martínez’s career came to an end after being plagued with injuries for his entire career. He became an assistant, and was hired by Huixtoca Farms at the ripe age of 32. He helped them climb 3 divisions the last 7 years, and is a magic man on the bench. His offensive minded play has helped him get the job with the team.

Rafael Barrios
Pronunciation: Rah-fai-ell Berry-os
Age: 62
Experience: 18-26, Midfielder, Records Unknown Image
27-42, Player-Coach, Records Unknown/Zapamoros United Image
43-51, Assistant, Tijuahua FC Image
52-56, Head Coach, Tijuahua FC Image
57-62, Head Coach, Teconada United Image
The coach with by far the most experience out of all of the coaching staff on the team, Rafael Barrios holds the advantage of age and wisdom, which he uses greatly in the game. He has success at the top division of coaching. He also has had multiple years of experience with Martínez, so the two mesh very well on the coaching staff. He has put together many successful squads, including a championship team as an assistant at Tijuahua. His experience with many of the top midfielders, including Quesada are huge parts of the team.

Roster
Starting XI: Image
Goalkeepers
Justin Espinar
Height: 6-3
Weight: 197
Pronunciation: Juh-sten S-pin-yar
Age: 27
Experience: 19-23, Goalkeeper, Zapamoros United Image
24-, Goalkeeper, Oaxapan Sporting Club Image
Justin Espinar has been regarded as a generational talent in the Sahuaritan goalkeeper position. He has the smarts, and the size to be a great keeper. His athleticism however, may be the best part of his game. His experience with the coaching staff is among the best for goalkeepers, and likely most players at his age. He started from the ripe age of 19 years old, and hasn’t stopped his run of greatness, as he now enters as the National Team Starter.

Edmundo Sáenz
Height: 6-1
Weight: 177
Pronunciation: Edd-moon-dough Saiy-enz
Age: 22
Experience: 18-21, Goalkeeper, Teconada United Image
The goalie for the tenure that Rafael Barrios has been at Teconada before, Sáenz is a very intriguing prospect at the keeper position for this team. It is unlikely he starts, however we could see some action from him if Espinar is out at all. He is very athletic, but a very raw talent that needs more coaching before coming out as a solid starter on a national team.

Milagros Fonseca
Height: 6-6
Weight: 210
Pronunciation: Mill-a-gross Fon-Seck-a
Age: 34
Experience: 21-31, Goalkeeper, Zapamoros United Image
32-, Goalkeeper, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Milagros Fonseca is the most experienced keeper on the team by far. He has over 10 years of experience starting in the league, and also has played for multiple years on the team of Franco Tejedor. Right now, he is very unlikely to start, and seems more like a mentor to the younger keepers. He just doesn’t have the athleticism to start, unfortunately.

Left Backs
Víctor Gallo
Height: 6-2
Weight: 172
Pronunciation: Vic-tor Gal-oh
Age: 30
Experience: 18-30, Defender, Teconada United Image
Victor Gallo is one of the strongest defenders on the team, and it is clear why he will be starting at Left Back this cycle. His ability to play good 1 on 1’s with forwards in unmatched by other Sahuaritan defenders, and most defenders across the world. He is relatively conservative in his tactics, however, this does help fit the coaching staff’s defensive tactical ideas.

Gonzalo Beldad
Height: 5-11
Weight: 160
Pronunciation: Gahn-zahlo Bell-dad
Age: 32
Experience: 19-25, Defender, Huixtoca Farms FC Image
26-, Defender, Zapamoros United Image
Gonzalo Beldad was one of the defenders who helped Huixtoca Farms start their climb up the league system. He is one of the main reasons why they are in the premier division right now. He has some of the most skill you will find at the defensive position, however he lacks in Athleticism and Football IQ, so he will likely play as a rotation man rather than a starter.

Center Backs
Mateo Guillén
Height: 6-1
Weight: 176
Pronunciation: Mah-Tay-oh Gull-e-yen
Age: 33
Experience: 18-, Centre Back, Zapamoros United Image
Likely the most experienced starter on the team, Mateo Gullién has been a mainstay of the national team for 9 years now. He stepped on the team at age 23, and has been a solid starter since then. He has great football IQ, which has been proven in his experiences on the team. He may not be the best player, but he is a great symbolic leader with the off-ball smarts to start.

Hugo Espiga
Height: 6-3
Weight: 186
Pronunciation: Hugh-go Esp-eega
Age: 26
Experience: 18-19, Defender, Oaxapan Sporting Club Image
20-, Defender, Tijuahua FC Image
Hugo Espiga is a very special talent. He is a starting Center Back with loads of raw talent, and the coaches have been able to activate that talent recently. Espiga has been sitting behind Gullién for the starting CB spot for the past few years, however soon, he may take it over. With his speed, and agility, it is hard to go wrong with a player such as Espiga.

Tomas Tasis
Height: 6-3
Weight: 180
Pronunciation: Toe-mahs Tah-sees
Age: 21
Experience: 17-, Defender, AFC Puejuana Image
Tomas Tasis was one of the few members of the starting XI that survived the AFC Puejuana Season Forfeiture last year. Tasis has a very good attitude, and is very disciplined, he could be come the CB2 once Gullién starts to fall out of favor. Tasis has the skill to start, but much like Espiga, is an extremely raw player. He doesn’t see the field well yet, and it too aggressive in 1-1’s

Right Backs
Martin Galán
Height: 6-1
Weight: 170
Pronunciation: Mar-teen Gah-lahn
Age: 29
Experience: 18-24, Defender, Teconada United Image
25-, Defender, Zapamoros United Image
Martin Galán is one of the key parts of this defense. He is pretty skinny for a defender, however his endurance that lets him play all 90 minutes easily is possibly the best on the team. He has experience with coaches Franco Tejedor and Rafael Barrios, which puts him in a very good position to communicate with the coaches. Never be surprised when he comes in late in the game with some clutch, this guy has a lot of it.

Andrés Sánchez
Height: 6-2
Weight: 172
Pronunciation: Ahn-Dreas Shan-chahz
Age: 38
Experience: 19-37, Defender, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Andrés Sánchez is the old man of the team, but don’t doubt on him. He is the second in line for captain, and he hasn’t even started in 3 years. The presence of Sánchez makes the players of the team men, and he shows why. At this point, he almost acts like a player coach, his IQ of the game is among the best, and even though he doesn’t have the skill he once had, he is a key motivator of the team.

Right Midfielder
Christian Quesada (Captain)
Height: 6-3
Weight: 194
Pronunciation: Chris-tain Kwae-Sahdah
Age: 27
Experience: 18-20, Midifielder, Teconada United Image
21, Midfielder, AFC Puejuana (Loan) Image
22-, Midifielder, Teconada United Image
Christian Quesada is the best player in all of Sahuarita. 3 MVP Rewards and a Golden Boot, while playing in the midfield, show that he is the most skillful in all the nation. He is a very hard player to contain from anywhere on the pitch. Coach Tejedor is confident with him controlling half of the midfield for this very reason. Expect to watch a lot from him, and expect lots of goals.

Angel Sánchez
Height: 6-4
Weight: 210
Pronunciation: Ain-gul Sahn-Chahz
Age: 2)
Experience: 21-, Midfielder, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Sánchez is a skilled player, don’t get me wrong, however, his poor discipline makes him a tough player to play with. He racks up many cautions, and often turns those to red cards once he gets frustrated. He almost always plays behind a player like Quesada, which is unfortunate for him, because he is likely a good enough player to start on other teams.

Left Midfielders
Édgar Cortés
Height: 6-2
Weight: 178
Pronunciation: Ehd-gur Cohr-tez
Age: 26
Experience: 18-24, Midfielder, Huixtoca Farms Image
25-, Midfielder, Morannon Athletic Image
Edgar Cortes is another player that was part of the Huixtoca Farms FC rise to success. Since then, he has been the first Sahuaritan National to take a job playing in Rushmore, as he plays for Morannon Athletic. He is another member of the smaller and quicker players, and his 1-1 skill is among the best on the team, possibly only beat out by players like his Right Mid counterpart.

Alonso Saelices
Height: 6-1
Weight: 184
Pronunciation: Uh-Lohn-so Say-Liches
Age: 30
Experience: 18-27, Tijuahua United Image
28, Acalucan FC Image
29-, Banija Club
Alonso is another experienced midfielder who has experience playing internationally. Often times, (especially during domestic play), he is more of a wingback rather than a Left Midfielder, however, he is very versitale, and is able to slide in the team like a Swiss Army knife. After joining Acalucan FC last season, he quickly transferred to the Banija Second Division.

Left Wing
Rubén Covarrubias
Height: 6-5
Weight: 220
Pronunciation: Rew-been Coh-Varr-oh-bias
Age: 26
Experience: 21-25, Striker, Zapamoros United Image
Ruben is a large, lengthy forward who’s skill as a wing is vital to the team. He doesn’t have the most experience, or the most skill, but his Football IQ, which he has acquired from his multiple years of youth football coaching. He is very good at playing balls into the box, and has great chemistry with star forward Anthony Sáez. These 2 are the teams dynamic duo.

Gael Morillo
Height: 5-9
Weight: 165
Pronunciation: Gay-el Moor-ill-oh
Age: 20
Experience: 18-, Striker, Teconada United Image
Gael is a strong, small and speedy forward. He is the youngest player on the team, and right now, is unlikely to play over Covarrubias. His Young Player of the Year award last season put him on the map as one of the best young strikers in the nation. This cycle, he can look to start with a few minutes in and out, but has great potential.

Striker
Anthony Sáez
Height: 5-11
Weight: 175
Pronunciation: Ann-thon-e Sai-ez
Age: 29
Experience: 18-23, Striker, Tijuahua FC Image
24-, Striker, Zapamoros United Image
Anthony is likely the strongest striker on this team. He is the star player of Franco Tejedor’s Zapamoros United team. His small stature may make him seem less intimidating, however his speed makes him a lethal threat from any part of the field. Sáez is a master of tactics, and has some of the best discipline on the field. He is a great threat. Watch for lots of goals from him.

Sebastián Dávalos
Height: 6-1
Weight: 199
Pronunciation: Seh-bah-stain Dah-vah-lohs
Age: 32
Experience: 18-29, Striker, Tijuahua FC Image
30-, Striker, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Dávalos will be a very interesting player to watch over the next few cycles. He was once the man behind the Sporting Cajelaya powerhouse, however his skill has been diminishing, and with an injury over the past season, it is unclear whether he will start. He has good size, and solid 1-1 skill, along with a strong IQ of the game. His endurance however, is a very questionable part of his play.

Benjamín Sarmiento
Height: 5-10
Weight: 179
Pronunciation: Ben-Juh-meen Sahr-ee-meon-too
Age: 29
Experience: 17-, Striker, Acalucan FC Image
At Acalucan FC, Sarmiento commanded the Offensive unit pretty much all on his own. This let him get a large number of goals, despite lagging in skill against the rest of the team. He is a great field general, however due to his large frame, he struggles greatly with jump balls and 1 on 1’s.

Carmelo Arboleda
Height: 5-8
Weight: 170
Pronunciation: Car-melo Ahr-bold-uh
Age: 20
Experience: 18-, Striker, Teconada United Image
Arboleda is a developing striker who could soon become one of the stars of the team. He has a very small, yet developing frame, which could become bigger as he gains more weight with years. His speed and endurance are great already, but his raw talent points to him becoming more a project player for the future years rather than a solid starter by next cycle. Nevertheless, watch for him soon.

Right Wing
Julian Morillo
Height: 6-1
Weight: 189
Pronunciation: Jew-lien Mohr-ill-oh
Age: 27
Experience: 18-, Striker, Sporting Cajelaya Image
Morillo is the star of the right side of the field on this team. His strong frame, coupled with his speed and leg makes him a great weapon in the high half of the pitch. He is one of the main set piece players, and the Sahuaritans always look to use him on free kicks and corners. Morillo has the job locked up, however with a rough injury history, it may be possible his backup has to step in a bit.

Estefania Alarcón
Height: 6-3
Weight: 198
Pronunciation: Es-tefa-nia All-uh-rocon
Age: 25
Experience: 18-, Striker, Tijauhua FC Image
Alarcon is a striker who is able to dominate with his large size on many places of the pitch. He is used like a Swiss Army knife, however he doesn’t really have the skill to start at a large striker role. He has great IQ and also a good shot, but he does struggle with ball control, and his passing is below average. In summary, you can possibly look for him to come in late in games, but he doesn’t really have the skill to start.

About Togonistan:
Togonistan is an island archipelago located in eastern Novapax with a total land area is 60 561.07 sq km and a population of 5.2 million. Togonistan has a tropical maritime climate that is usually hot and humid. There are three seasons: the hot dry season or summer from March to May; the rainy season from June to November; and the cool dry season from December to February. Temperatures usually range from 21 °C (70 °F) to 32 °C (90 °F) although it can get cooler or hotter depending on the season. The coolest month is January; the warmest is May. Most of the islands is covered in tropical rainforest and is volcanic in origin. Togonistan's official language is English, however, native Togoni-Maori is also commonly spoken and taught in schools alongside English.

Fanbase:
Association Football is the most popular sport in Togonistan, which is being played both on domestic as well as international levels. Togonistani national team, nicknamed ''Yellow Warriors'' is held in high respect amongst the local football fans, who wholeheartedly keep supporting their national team, despite the latter not having shown that great results in international competitions. Fans, while generally cheerful and peaceful, do tend to be loud on the stadium. The traditional Togoni haka war chant has been integrated to the footballing scene, with Togonistani fans often chanting in support of their team, putting down a rather spectacular performance on the stadium.

The Stadium:
Image

Tushlark Stadium, located in the southern districts of Tushlark, is Togonistani National Football Team's home stadium. With capacity of 30 000 spectators, it is the second-biggest football arena in the nation. The stadium was built in 1993, and has since been an important landmark of the city, having hosted various sporting events as well as concerts. Tushlark Stadium is also home stadium for FC Tushlark Elks, one of the oldest clubs in Togonistan.

1. GK Larut Theshendan (32) - Maethoru SC
12. GK Bengt Palmgroen (28) - Port Rhovanyon, TKT
23. GK Wellington Doolan (30) - Tanrisal, PAS
24. GK Barre Goossen (28) - Schemerdrecht SVV

Theshendan has probably earned himself a starting job for life given his heroic World Cup 87 run. Seven goals conceded across the entire cycle, up to the final - the statisticians are still looking for a similar run, knowing it's very unlikely to find something that's even in the same ballpark. At the same time, Maethoru SC had expected to make bank over selling him to a much richer league, but nobody came calling. Behind him, we have Palmgroen back, who revitalised his career in Tikariot and is a very solid second option. Doolan has also not been called up for a while, but is now at Tanrisal (but without the dot on the i) in Pasarga and is also playing to a higher level than he would have in Ko-oren.

Image
2. LF Edialor Aiamara (23) - Laketown Rangers, TAE
13. LF Emmé Escoffier (31) - North Spire HC, CRY
3. LB Tij Breukelaar (23) - Devlet-Bira Fabrika Takimi, TMR
14. LB Calvin Kitchingham (26) - Bruncester United AFC
4. CB Minne van Schelven (26) - 1830 Cathair, AUD
15. CB Jubenar Mallerbury (21) - Zilverstraat SC, TSA
5. RB Ethan Benjamin (28) - Ousevale Borough, KRY
16. RB Just Olink (20) - Miradela GD
6. RF Aesimila Aelisire (27) - Straudum VV
17. RF Ézo Gicquel (25) - La Nueva Avenida, FFD
25. LF Winwig Jundy (21) - Advance Alara
26. LB Harmon Mulvahil (20) - Osarese Marcadia, AUD
27. RB Rodolfo Parada (23) - Castelo e Calvente CS
28. LF Emi van Kalvenhaar (20) - Maethoru SC
29. RF Hadrian Pazos (22) - CA Paulinthal, PAS

Aiamara and Aelisire are the wingbacks, often confused for one another given their similar names (but then again, everyone from Aerellen sounds like they could be brothers, last-name-wise), finally appearing together in a long awaited and much hyped fullback tandem. Aiding them in the centre are Breukelaar - never thought of as tremendously talented, but stepped up to the plate in World Cup 87, Van Schelven - always the golden boy, and now 26 years old and in a leadership position, and Benjamin - also thought of as a golden boy for a while, but he's 28 now, and has to run this show. We've really hit our next generation of defenders: no more Lampshire, Dalton, or Linderood. Sitting on the bench are the likes of Mallerbury (of Eagle Cup fame), Olink (not sure if he's an option long-term), and Gicquel (lost the wingback battle to Aelisire and Aiamara). There'll always be five players in the back line, with wingbacks only sparingly asked to move up the field. Both fullbacks can do that, if needed, while Van Schelven is pretty solid in the build-up as well. Benjamin has never excelled in that department, but he's tenacious and never leaves a striker unmarked. Breukelaar is a jack of all trades, master of none. As for the reserves, all eyes are on Jundy and Mulvahil, who so far are expected to be the next next generation of defenders.

Image
7. DM Sinclair Odgers (19) - Rangers, HTK
18. DM Reizo Yokota (33) - Katashi-Kanatsu
8. LM Saushilu Janoreirinthen (28) - Rolalas FC, VAL
19. CM Jurre Hilberdink (27) - Schemerdrecht SVV
9. RM Lysander Forward (28) - South Laithland, NPH
20. RM Harold Batchelor (26) - Blacklake Blues, TAE
10. AM Mata Vaugrenard (28) - Rolalas FC, VAL
21. AM Maximilien Longchambon (27) - Revolutionaries, EUR
30. CM Kherles Ensaunden (27) - Maethoru SC
31. LM Nanko Wormstal (22) - Metropolis Alligators, VLD
32. RM Samuel Ulysse (31) - Schemerdrecht SVV
33. CM Jess Gregory (25) - Bruncester United AFC

Switching from 5-3-2 to 5-4-1 makes the midfield into a respected unit. Moving away from the long ball tactics and towards a more passing-oriented style, it's a hell of a search to find players who can do this. In the end, the starters should be Odgers, Janoreirinthen, Forward, and Vaugrenard. Odgers is a defensive midfielder, a position that was vital while Yokota played it. It then fell out of favour with the three-man midfield of Janoreirinthen, Batchelor, and Longchambon through the mid-to-late 80s, but now the position is back on the starting XI. Odgers is selected as the new starting defensive midfielder with Yokota still sitting behind him. For more conventional playmakers, there is Janoreirinthen and Hilberdink, with the pacy wingers Forward and Batchelor present as well. Creative, and always looking for crafty passes, space to exploit, we also have Vaugrenard and Longchambon. The former is more attack-minded, while the latter is slightly more of a playmaker.

11. ST Aenemere Erisia (26) - Aminey CS
22. SS Murai Okawa (22) - Advance Alara
34. ST Lew Turner (27) - Cirelbourne United
35. ST Adée Lavigne (19) - Université des Arts d'Aminey

Given the shortage of good striker options on the archipelago, the forward section has slimmed down from two to one. Erisia is the finisher that will get things done, as he did in the last two cycles, and has turned into a very reliable option.

Image
Aminey - Stade sur la Baie (70000) - home to Aminey CS (and the Aminey Caspians, Aminey Buffaloes, and Aminey Owls) and the backdrop to several Champions Bowls, the biggest stadium in the country, conveniently located just a short train trip away from Willowbourne International Airport. Aminey is the country's entertainment capital - for that reason, its sports teams have all the budget (but rarely the results to justify said budget) - and draws tourists from all over. Typical weather: clear or cloudy; never too cold or too warm.

Schemerdrecht - Orange Bowl (54000) - home to Schemerdrecht SVV (and the Schemerdrecht Admirals), and often dubbed the 'capital of the north' even though it's technically more southern than the actual capitals. Still, it's the largest city in the Ko-oren's huge north. Schemerdrecht is a harbour town first, a sports town second, and whatever else comes next third. It takes pride in the teams it has, doesn't really have a rivalry. Typical weather: clear, cloudy; often windy but rarely too cold.

Maethoru - Rikalathen Arena (39000) - home to Maethoru SC (and Mayara Wanderers-Vulpecula), the 'true home' of Ko-orenite soccer. Maethoru SC is by very, very far the most successful club of the archipelago, and the Rikalathen Arena crew wants you to know that. It's also located close to KFA headquarters and in the middle of the Capital cities, four cities that together host all ministries and other politically relevant buildings. As is often the case in political cities, sports tend not to be as important there, but Maethoru SC has conquered the hearts of all that are native to there. Typical weather: clear; cold and crisp mornings and evenings.

Étouille - Stade Amandine (30000) - home to Tanques AOE (and the Etouille Vultures), a beautiful (and relatively small) city on the southern side of the Bay, this stadium is a fan favourite even just for the sweet drone shots the production crew can do here. Tanques AOE is one of Ko-oren's largest historical clubs and a source of regional pride. Otherwise, they just don't get along with Aminey (but who does?). Typical weather: just right.

Santa Teresa - Estádio Fortaleza (29000) - home to Miradela GD (and the Santa Teresa Sabres), this is another gorgeous stadium to play at. Located on a hill in the southeastern city, the walk up to the ground is as much a highlight of the evening as the game itself. Winding between old buildings and stunning vistas, the Fortaleza is also highly divisive: the city's working class support Branvon CD, not Miradela GD, and swear by their Estádio Marítimo, located close to the harbour and much more conducive to fan culture rather than the highbrow Estádio Fortaleza. Both are venues the national team could play at, but the Fortaleza is marketed just a bit better. Typical weather: clear, humid, hot.

Maynard - Armskirk Municipal Ground (26000) - home to Maynard AFC. Weather: cloudy, windy, slightly cold.

Katashi - Suzumebachi Stadium (25000) - home to Katashi-Kanatsu. Weather: humid, hot.

Greencaster - Golhampton Grounds (25000) - home to lower league Langward. Weather: seasonally affected. Very hot or quite cold.

Aevanna - Northern Arena (32000) - home to university team 'Aevanna Ecologiske Universitet'. Weather: cold, plenty of precipitation of all types.

Image
Numbers 1-11 typically start (but not always, feel free to choose your starters).
Numbers 1-23 are typically selected as starters or subs (but not always, feel free to select some 23+-ers as subs or starters).
Numbers over 23 are mostly there as emergency replacements, but can be part of the 23-man squad for some qualifiers.

Image Image
On the left is the standard for this team. Five defenders, a defensive midfielder-slash-pivot, two wingers, an attacking midfielder-annex-second striker, and a pure finisher up front. In possession, one of the defenders can push up: this might be one of the fullbacks to provide width, but can also be one of the centrebacks, in which case the defensive midfielder makes way. The wingers will be wider or narrower based on the opposition, and the same determines how far the fullbacks will advance. In defence, the team becomes narrower, with the defensive midfielder playing spoiler to whoever is trying to find space between the Ko-orenite lines, and the wingers falling back to meet opposing fullbacks. The striker and attacking midfielder will almost always look for space to launch a counterattack. On the right is the alternate lineup, which still adheres to a basic 5-4-1. You could call it a 5-5-0, seeing as the striker is sitting back much further. This lineup works the exact same for the defenders, with or without possession. The defensive and central midfielder are pivots, the wingers have far more freedom to find space, and the striker drops back to receive the ball and allow other players to overlap, enabling them to score a goal rather than the striker themselves. In defence, the midfielders can organically shrink and expand their 'pentagram-five' formation much more fluidly.

Image
This team is all about containing their opponent, letting them make mistakes, and capitalising on those. Let the other guys get impatient, lose the ball, and immediately go for the counter attack. Yes, it's frustrating to play against, but you have to admit that there's a certain beauty to doing this near-flawlessly every single time. The Dragonflies aren't a very physical team, but can match almost every opponent in stamina (not so much power or speed, though. Typically only the wingers are pacy). Instead, they rely on tactics and patience. The team is also good enough to be in possession a lot and dictate the tempo, though they're not always creative enough to break down the opposing defence - for that, the Dragonflies have learned to be very, very good on counterattacks, set pieces, and a few patterns in open play. Given the experience most of these players have, it's hard to come up with something new they've never seen - and then do that well enough to reliably score. In order to beat us, you'll need to bring two or more of the following: power, speed, caution.

Basically, this team comes prepared, is patient, and keeps a cool head.

Penalties: Erisia, Longchambon, Janoreirinthen
Free kicks: Longchambon
Corner kicks: Forward, Odgers

Most likely to get booked: Aiamara, Benjamin, Odgers, Erisia
Most likely to be fouled: Benjamin, Janoreirinthen, Longchambon, Erisia

Feel free to ignore those suggestions

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION:
Following the unification of the seven kingdoms, dating back to 1786, HoopoeBall was recognized as the Talamian national sport. It was therefore necessary to wait more than a century before football began to gain popularity. The first official document attesting a football match in Talamia dates back to 1890. Five years later, eight founding teams from all over Talamia created the Talamian Alfa League, which is still the top level of the Talamian football league system today.

The first ten years of Talamian football, not yet very popular at the time, saw only clubs as protagonists. In 1906, however, the seven regions of Talamia began to agree to organize an interregional internal tournament and establish their selections of best players. The Seven Kingdoms Tournament was born. It was held for nine editions, until 1914. The tournament was played with a double round-robin system. The teams played during breaks from the Talamia Alfa League, in summer and winter. The regional selection of Mentrenalio won five editions, Pento two and Uperinde and Epicesi one each. The tournament ceased to exist when TSS decided to found a single national representative.

The first game played by the national team dates back to 30 November 1914, when the sports federations of Talamia and Sörslúth decided to organize a friendly between the selections of the best players of the top leagues of the two nations, to encourage the quiet of a seething political climate. Played in the Ebdemar Au'tokra Stadium of Clinepalas, the game gathered twenty thousand spectators and saw the Talamian national team triumph 6-2. The very first goal scored by the national team of Talamia was by Uptele Trakute, Ptoco's forward. At the behest of the tyrant of Sörslúth, who could not accept the defeat, the game was repeated a month later in the stadium of Eigobair, the capital of the fascist state. Talamia managed again to win 3-0. This prompted Talamia Sports' Summaka to invest in the national team, organizing a first friendly calendar. Epitede Arkha, then coach of Lampride, was appointed manager.

national team in 1979, wearing the traditional away kit.

Following the wave of club football, the national team stopped playing in 1966, after the failure of the Alfa League, to resume playing in 1974, thanks to Noto Plousi, owner of Fortis Epops, four years after the rebirth of the top league of Talamian football. The team began gaining popularity thanks to players of the caliber of Ensem Eio and Sanisla Pedalisismi, who is still today the top scorer.

After more than a century of international football played only on a friendly level, TSS decided to appoint Pedalisismi as manager in 2019, on the occasion of the team's first historic registration to an official tournament: 2019 ILFA. After weeks of hard preparation, the team was defeated in the qualification round, by an overall result of 4-3 against Lo Santano.

Despite the negative performance, this prompted TSS to include the team in the first edition of the NSLeft Association Football Tournament (NAFT). With no need for a qualifying match, Talamia advanced directly to the final stage, drawn in group D with the Democratic Republic of Cacusia, Maoux and Mon Silanies. Following this first experience, Talamia became one of the founding members of NSLeft Association Football Federation (NAFF). However, after winning all the group stage matches and the quarter-finals, the tournament stopped and the NAFF was dismantled. The Talamian national team found itself once again without official competitions in which to play.

On May 10 2020, it was announced that Talamia would take part to the eighty-fifth edition of the World Cup, being admitted to the qualifications after being accepted among the 197 participating teams. On the way to the World Cup, in its first pre-tournament friendly, Talamia defeated The Jovannic 2-1. Despite this being their first participation in the tournament, the Hoopoes made a great performance, placing fifth in a group that included 13 teams. Collecting 37 points, the team bravely faced the longest qualifiers in the World Cup history. After the excellent performance, Talamia entered the seventy-seventh Cup of Harmony, without being able to go beyond the group stage. With four points won, the Hoopoes at their first participation, however, managed to beat the historic national team of Chromatika.

In February 2021, TSS officially founded the DSA Football Federation, promoting the development of interest in football on the planet of Delusia. The team will host the inaugural edition of the newly born DSAFF Comrades Cup.

KITS:
Talamia's traditional home colours are red and black shirts, red or black shorts and white or black socks, incorporating all colours of the Talamian flag. The very first kit worn by Talamia national team in its debut match against Sörslúth was all-red. Therefore, over the years the team has re-proposed the historic design, wearing similar all-red jerseys. The national team wore white shorts only on the outfit used between 1977 and 1978. The uniform was so unpopular that it was replaced after just one season.

Even though Talamia's first away kits were total black, starting in 1974 - the year of the resumption of Talamian football - TSS decided that the team would wear simple white shirts in away matches, in order to cushion travel costs. From necessity, tradition was born and still today Talamia's traditional away colours are white shirts and shorts and black socks.

Talamia's third kit has always coincided with the goalkeeper's first kit, which colours are green shirts and shorts - recalling the laurel on the national flag - and white socks.

The motif of the Talamia national football team has a laurel crown, a symbol of peace introduced on the national flag in 1786. It was briefly replaced in the 90's by hoopoe's feathers, and restored in the 2000's.

STARTING XI:
Image

#1 Aha Diapeir
198cm tall, Aha Diapeir arrived at his current club Fortis Epops in 2013, at the age of twenty-two. He is in the small group of players who managed to conquer the team's last three league titles. Solid goalkeeper, very safe between the posts, the exits are his weakness.

#4 Neodom Zekeleos
Zekeleos is an example of how tenacity can pay off. Just like it is for many others in this renewed team, this will be Neodom's first experience with the Hoopoes. Right back of substance and experience, he is very strong physically. Tireless, he can be found anywhere on the pitch over the course of the ninety minutes. He may not be the most technical player but he is certainly the one with the most heart.

#5 Yante Skatezzo
Skatezzo can be considered the pupil of Fulatto, his ward companion. Born and raised in Fofokoy, he made the whole process of the youth team to land on the first team six years ago. Fresh from the Alfa League victory, he managed not to get a yellow card over the entire past season.

#13 Timo Fulatto
Timo Fulatto is the most experienced defensive center in the whole national team. Next to 80 presence with the team, he is the mentor of his partner Skatezzo. He is a pure defensive wall with height, agility and great skill in head shots. He won the last season of the Alfa League as the captain of Alla Fofokoy.

#6 Calin Mestithemi
Mestithemi is one of the surprises of the recent call-up. Little international experience but great flair for success. In his career he has won 5 editions of the Alfa League, of which 4 with Clinepalas United and 1 with Epacra Delphis, the team in which he grew up. He is a side-back with the vice of coming forward and fueling the offensive action.

#8 Ansem Egemon (C)
Column of the team and of modern Talamian football, Egemon is the captain of both the national team and his team, Ptoco. Having made his debut at just 16 in the Alfa League, he reaches his twentieth year of career today. Despite his age, he seems to have no intention of stopping. Egemon holds the record for most appearances for the Talamian team with 126 since his debut in 2003, scoring nine goals as of today.

#14 Fjössi Rooura
Born in Eigobair, the capital of Sörslúth, Rooura is the only one to play for the team who was not born in Talamia. He emigrated with his family when he was only two years old, to escape the fascist regime of his native country. While his poor family sought refuge in Stamexo, the first major city he meets after crossing the Talamian borders, Fjössi began to grow and make his interests known. From an early age, his parents enrolled him in the local team's football school. He was known as the desert child, as coaches called him. Blond, short, blue eyes and an enchanted foot. Rooura already stood out for his skills in long passes, punishments and corner kicks.

Then, at the age of fourteen, something changed. Noticed by the scouts of Clinepalas United, he decided to move to the capital city. That age would never abandon him again: 14 is the number he still wears today. Making his national debut three years later. Certainly the difficulties did not abandon him. Such a frail physique and such a short stature did not help him in the growth path. He made his first team debut at twenty-one, after several Beta League loans - including a return to the Stamexo football club. It happened four years ago, and after a wonderful first season, Fjössi won his first Alfa League title and two years later the second. In the meantime, the first call-up to the national team had also arrived. As of today, he has played almost thirty times with the Talamian National Team.

Rooura is still young and seems to have a brilliant career ahead of him. His recent injury doesn't seem to have stopped him. Will something actually stop him? With all the hardships he has faced since childhood, we feel like answering "no".

#7 Ptirn Lagios
A fast career, just like him: Lagios is the wing that every team would dream of. At just 23 he has already scored 7 goals for the national team. His transfer from the Lampride club to the rivals of Clinepalas United was a scandal. Equipped with great dribbling and a speed out of the ordinary, however, he is very prone to injuries.

#20 Upe Bainika
Left wing, enviable technique. Bainika runs the entire band, from defense to attack. He is the pillar of his team, Epacra Delphis, of which he is also the top goalscorer. He was the undisputed star of the club's last two championship wins, in 2010 and 2013.

#10 Kata Dioiiké
Dioiiké is the most complete player in the squad. The number 10 is charged with taking free-kicks and plays as an attacking midfielder, adapting if desired also as a second striker. He is the captain of Fortis Epops, with whom he has won the last three badges.

#9 Stern A'apt
Robust forward, skilled in the header and playing as a point of reference for the advanced midfield line, he is able to play shoulders behind the net to allow the wings to penetrate the opposing defense. Fifth in the all-time list, he scored two goals in today's friendly match against The Jovannic, reaching 29 goals in total.

Son of a poor family of workers from Stamexo, our favorite striker grew up right on the border with Sorsluth and took his first football steps in the hometown team. He made his debut in the Beta League at the age of 19 but we would have said everything at the time except that he would become the first choice for the National Team's attack in the starting lineup. Slightly overweight, he seemed to have only the commitment on his side. But it wasn't enough.

After two seasons in which he had collected more appearances in the stands than anything else, one day everything changed: it was 2013 and Stern had the opportunity to play in a championship game, due to the injury of the two main forwards. The team was doing badly, being close to the relegation zone. However, A'apt discovered how dangerous it could be on high balls. A hat trick. All goals on header. Stern became the hero of the day and the championship, dragging Stamexo to their first second place in the Beta League. The team then lost the playoffs but that was only the beginning for Stern. Purchased by Afestosja the following summer, he managed to drag an excellent team to an equally excellent second place in the Alfa League. Then came the first call-up to the national team, the first international goal. The teams were starting to get used to his way of playing, no longer the other way around.

Then, something changed last year, when A'apt, now a darling of Afestosja, decided to accept the large sum of money that the billionaire Amilla's team, KarpìStomà, offered to move to them. Some say that his poor young football-loving spirit has vanished forever. Yet the great commitment shown once again on the field led him to drag KarpìStomà to fourth place. Could this be an opportunity to show everyone once again that they are wrong?

COACH:
Sanisla Pedalisismi is the top goalscorer in the history of the Talamia Alfa League. He used to play as a right wide forward and occasionally as a secondary striker. In his career he played in all the Big Four Talamian Clubs, starting from the youth sector of Clinepalas United, all the way through FK Katacra, Alla Fofokoy and retiring at the age of 38 in Fortis Epops. Pedalisismi is one of the players-symbol of the rebirth of Talamian football after the great crisis of the 60s.

Active with the national team from 1966 to 1979, he counts 99 caps and 76 goals for The Hoopoes. Appointed manager in 2019, he has so far led the team in two different international competitions: ILFA and NAFT. Loved by fans and remembered as one of the greatest Talamian footballers of all time, the hope is that he will be able to nail it once again as a coach.

Ansem Egemon in action
during Ptoco-Hellas Anen, in 2017.

CAPTAIN:
June 10, 1983. The son of Epituxe and Makaria Egemon is born in the small town of Lochago, near Clinepalas. He is given the name Ansem, exactly like his grandfather, who was a respected carpenter. Ansem is a lively child, he grows up very quickly and immediately proves to have great sports skills. He soon falls in love with football, despite having tried to practice many other sports previously, excelling in each of them. Watching the games of his favorite team, Ptoco, on television is his favorite hobby.

It is 1992 and Egemon, who until then had played among the boys of the semi-amateur club of his hometown, is noticed by the scouts of his beloved team: Ptoco. At just nine years of age, he is ready to make the first important decision of his life: move to Clinepalas. Thus began his closest and most indissoluble bond, the one with the white color of the shirt of the historic Clinepalas team.

After the die in the youth sector and after seeing his team win the Alfa League for almost six years in a row, Egemon made his league debut in 1999, when Ptoco's winning streak seemed to have stopped. He was only 16. Column of his team and of modern Talamian football, he became Ptoco's captain at the age of 27 and he is now the National team's captain too. Egemon holds the record for most appearances for the Talamian team with 126 caps since his debut in 2003, scoring nine goals as of today. He also holds the record for most caps as captain, with 67.

Ball-winning midfielder, he is characterized by his competitive energy, personality, charisma, physical strength and athletic endurance, so much so that he has acquired undisputed leadership not only inside the locker room but also among the fans. He can play both the role of box to box and anchor midfielder and is very skilled in fighting opponents and recovering the ball.

The new Ebdemar Au'tokra Stadium,
rebuilt in 2018.

HOME STADIUM:
Talamia's capital Clinepalas counts 10,029,416 inhabitants and it's the largest city in the country. Located on the mouth of the Drahma River, it overlooks the Herrebrugh Sea. Being the oldest city, it is also the one with the largest number of places of interest and monuments. The national body responsible for managing the Talamian cultural heritage is ko.de.pa.so., and among others, one of the places it controls is the Ebdemar Au'tkora Stadium.

Initially built for HoopoeBall, the Ebdemar Au'tokra Stadium has always been the home of our National Football Team, since its founding. Talamia played their first match at the stadium on November 30 1914 against Sörslúth, winning 6-2. The stadium has undergone many renovations over time, before being permanently closed and then demolished in 2015, in its hundredth birthday. For a period of three years, the team played their home games in various stadiums around Talamia as the Ebdemar Au'tokra was beaing completely rebuilt. The first match played in the new stadium that just reopened took place on 22 April 2018 and it was once again against Sörslúth. The stadium is today owned by the city of Clinepalas, being considered cultural heritage.

Today, the all-seater stadium has a capacity of 84,000, and it is protected from the elements by a sliding roof that does not completely enclose it. It also has a heated ground, four LED screens and an internal restaurant, called "ArgaleOpson". Located in the central Etairo Park of Talamia’s most important and big city, it is easily reachable by bus, underground (Stadion stop) and car. Equipped with ample outdoor parking, it is just twenty minutes from the mouth of the Drahma River and the port of Clinepalas. Stop at the typical street food kiosks inside the park before reaching the stadium to enjoy some typical Anthrax pancakes.

Savojar Roster for WCQ 88

NOTE 1: The roster provided below applies to the Savojarna team managed by Daniella Strauss. She will take over IC’ly after the 37th Copa Rushmori, OOC after MD 7 of the qualifier campaign. Until then, Mikaela Rangren will continue to be the manager. For MD 1-7, please refer to the most recent Savojar roster provided to the CR 37 here.

NOTE 2: Credit where credit is due - Daniella Strauss’ description is partially written by Nephara (taken from her description in the Transfer Window sheet).

TEAM

STAFF
Coach: Daniella Strauss (NPH)
Age: 55 // Coach since: WCQ 88 (MD 8)
After the Copa 37 had revealed stagnation on the regional level, and Rangren had been approached by her old friend and co-coach Lise Asbeck to take the helm at the Savojar top club Libertas Bergheim, she had resigned as Northlights head coach. Being left without a national coach, the SFFB has hired former Nephara manager Daniella Strauss in a competitive bidding process, making her the first foreign Savojarna manager in history. Strauss turned a terrible Corvette side into a credible Premiership outfit for a time, and started to revitalise Southfell United before the Cormorants came calling. Unusually for Nepharim, she likes to keep ahold of the ball, but likes to play quick, aggressive football, with a high line choking the opposition. Probably the most successful Nepharan manager, by most measures; hired to the Northlights until the end of World Cup cycle 89 as part of the “WC90” project, aiming to make the World Cup knockouts by cycle 90.

Coaching Team: Alexey Jotanov, Mikael Södergren, Lasse Tjoer
Ages: 52, 39, 42 // Special functions: Video coach, Technical coach, Physical trainer
Jotanov is a rather creative tactical mind and one half of the U-21 co-coaching team. He has been brought on board as part of the WC90 project to create a more unified approach across the three Savojar national teams (adult, U21, U18). He will be here mainly to support with video trainings and tactics briefings.
Mikael Södergren has a history of a technical assistant coach at various SFS A teams, including the surprising Rotor Värstjö side of SFS Season 8 and being on the staff of the double-winning Partisan side of SFS Season 10. His job is to run day to day practice and give technical advice to players; besides his work with the national team, he currently is a trainer at the National Football Academy at Högvald, where he coaches and develops Savojarna’s biggest youth talents.
Lasse Tjoer is the physical coach and condition trainer, and has previously worked for multiple SFS A teams. He places a lot of emphasis on discipline, but gives the players a large amount of freedom to tune their practice regime to their own tastes as long as they stick to the targets. He is quite popular in the team, and a good motivator.

Goalkeeper Coach: Valtteri Andersson
Age: 51
Andersson was a long-term goalkeeper for Energie Thorsborg and got directly transferred into the club's youth department when he retired at age 33. Following some good work with the club's youth department, he got trained as a GK coach and worked with the first team and the U21 of Energie for a while before being brought onto the squad of the NT early on. He still works with Energie on the side and is reputed to be very good at developing a goalkeeper's weaknesses.

Doctor: Dr. Christer Ljungberg
Age: 57
Christer is the head of the medical team of the Savojar NT and generally has a reputation of being the team’s good soul. Many players have come to him over the years to discuss their insecurities or physical problems, to the point that many consider Ljungberg to essentially be a second mental coach.

SQUAD
Ages reflect the age at the beginning of the qualifying campaign; players will age one year until the World Cup proper.
Club allegiances are based on post-CR 37 allegiances. Players transferred during the TW 31 may play at different teams for the first 7 matchdays.

TACTICS

STYLE: +0.75

Savojarna play a more direct, physical game than they used to, and also a more aggressive game than under Rangren. The midfield four line up as a block off the ball, although with high pressure and aiming to force the opposition into mistakes. The defence also moves high, but less intensely so, making sure to catch stragglers and prevent quick counters. With Zirkova and Maersk, they have two players who are good at moving the ball up the pitch; if they win the ball, the wingers and fullbacks tend to move high together with Lundell, while the centre-backs and Maersk aim to shuttle or pass the ball forward. When possible, they aim for fast, vertical play; if slowed down or facing a defensive opponent, they try to hold the ball and find gaps. The strikers tend to fall into a more speed-oriented player (Jacobsen/Ehlers/Vaitanen) coming from between the lines and acting as a connecting player or sometimes hanging striker, and a poacher (Nweke/Smolov) looking for goals and chances around the box. However, the division is not clear and may change depending on the situation, and relies primarily on the strengths and weaknesses of the players in question.

ROLES

The adjective is Savojar; Savojarnan is not a word!

Boot It!: Can Our 5th Be A 5-Star Occasion?

Nickname: Jaguars (official)/Jags (short form)/Blue and Orange (commonly-used informal)/Draw Masters (satirical)/Team Nothing (the truth)
WCC Ranking (Post WC87): 51st (17.41 KPB)

The era of the Co-Mangers is about to face its biggest test so far as WC88 begins its qualifying process for the elusive tournament, this time in Cassadaigua and Chromatika. Both David Seems and Li Xiu Ying did well in their first tournament with the shared role, sending TJUN-is to its 2nd IAC Quarterfinals in a good display overall. But with the pain of back-to-back WCQ Playoff defeats weighing heavily on the conscience of many fans of this team, there is hope in the air that this cycle of pain will be broken one day. With 5 new players entering the setup, can these 39 players and 2 managers finally reach the promised land?

STADIUMS
Stadium: National Stadium
Location: TJUN-ia City, JB TJUN-ia
Capacity: 74,000
Image

The hallowed halls of TJUN-ian football have always tried to be a fortress for the Blue and Orange, but to no avail. The National Stadium in TJUN-ia City was built for accomodating as many outdoor sporting events as possible and while the football layout can be a bit shallow at times, that doesn't stop 74,000 spectators from trying to turn this ground into a football fortress. They are quite welcoming to any and all opposition who play here until foul play emerges in one way or another. This place is the main stadium for both the JagBase and TJUN-ia, but many aren't sure if they want to see another Playoff game in this place...

Stadium: Beregozera Stadium
Location: Szensky, CSTO Zone
Capacity: 81,000
Image

The largest stadium in use for football once more, "The Lakeside" Stadium is mostly known for Krasnaya Stena, an ultra-like group of supporters who take the game very seriously and who try their best to make the main stadium of the CSTO the hardest place to play in all of TJUN-ia. The national team failed to perform to their expectations when this circus finally came to Szensky during WC85, but better tournaments since have seen a change in opinion from KS, who certainly want their turf to be the fortress of the Jags no matter the opposition. To anyone who must play us in this 81,000-capacity dome of noise, I can only give you one piece of advice: Удачи тебе (Udachi tebe). Good luck to you.

Stadium: Tiankong Stadium
Location: Tiankong, CEA Zone
Capacity: 57,000
Image

Built for the CEA Games and nicknamed by many as "the People's Stadium", Tiankong Stadium has seen the most wins by the national team on home soil - and by some distance. In fact, this is so obvious that many in the CEA capital like to troll their JB or CSTO friends with jokes about how good this team is whenever they play in front of the smallest crowd out of the three. 57,000 may not sound like a lot, but the people of Tiankong certainly make up for it all with just how loud they can be and with the team playing great whenever they come here, who knows if this magic can ever run out?!

San Ortelio
"The Swordfishes / I Spada"

Image

The Story

San Ortelio, your favorite minnow, stepped onto the international football scene a good two years ago as the San Ortelio Confederazione Calcio Extra-Regionale subscribed itself for the Di Bradini Cup 49. Against all expectations, the Young Swordfishes not only managed to stay afloat, but stunned all their opponents with a successful run. In the final, the formidable Graentfjall was beaten - a Cinderella story as there ever was one and this allowed the board to ignore that the manager they chose attempted to murder two players. Yeah, let’s forget about that part and focus on the silverware.

As such, it was with a bit more confidence that San Ortelio started their World Cup 87 qualifiers. Manager Renato Di Tane saw his selection stunt several times: Turori dominated the group by and far, but behind the mighty Eels, it were the Swordfishes that nicked the second spot. In the closing days of the qualifiers, opponents Juvencus, Qasden and Mercedini inched closer but with a one-point cushion, San Ortelio made it to the play-offs unranked. Baker Park, number nine in the world, easily disposed of I Spada but the first impression was made: San Ortelio was not here to be slaughtered.

It granted the Swordfishes a spot in the Cup of Harmony, where San Ortelio made it out of the group stage, but bowed their heads to a dominant Mriin on their goodbye tour. The Copa Rushmori, a few months later, is better forgotten: Pasarga and Yuezhou were just a class ab- oh, goddamned, now we’re thinking about it again. In the run-up to this World Cup, San Ortelio had their traditional friendlies: a (lost) duel against the regional rival Tikariot and a double-header vis-a-vis their favorite opponent Juvencus for the Coppa Odiol.

Tournament Games Win Draw Loss GF GA
Friendlies 3 0 2 1 7 8
World Cup 87 Qualifiers 20 10 5 5 26 17
Cup of Harmony 79 4 1 1 2 8 11
Copa Rushmori 37 3 0 1 2 3 8
Friendlies 3 1 0 2 1 4

Total 33 12 9 12 45 48

San Ortelio itself is a small, coastal country located in the heartland of Rushmore. Consisting of the land stretched around a bay, it is known for its fishermen, coastal tourism and tax evasion. The climate is mediterranean and the atmosphere is always on that intriguing balance between holiday-relaxed and ‘are they talking or fighting in the middle of the street’.

Football has been around for nearly half a century in San Ortelio, with each of the five constituting regions organising tournaments early on. For a decade and a half now, the best clubs are united in the Serie Nazionale, which sends its best clubs (usually the Big Three, Catrallo Calcio, FC Pesari and Virtus Redoccio) to the IFCF since a year or two.

Image

The Selection

Manager Renato Di Tane, despite the frankly disappointing appearance in the Copa Rushmori, held on to his position and selected a pool of 34 players for the qualifying series. Di Tane opts for a fairly defensive 5-4-1 which usually sees the numbers 1 to 11 start.

Pos Nr Full Name Club Age Cap G A
GK 1 Enrico Lanzafame AFC Westpike (BRE) 26 30 0 0
GK 12 Serafino Evacuo Virtus Redoccio 30 3 0 0
GK 23 Jacopo Burrai Esca Unione 24 -
GK 24 Walter Moro FC Pesari 22 -

No doubts about the starting goalkeeper, Enrico Lanzafame will be the man there. Despite a fairly uninspired nickname in the Wall, he is undoubtedly a key player in this selection and his performances in the WC87 qualifiers stood out, even in an overperforming team. Lanzafame plays for his second A-League squad and hopes to see Westpike stay afloat. If injury would strike - or we end up with a dead rubber near the end of the qualifiers - Serafino Evacuo will take his place. Whilst the Virtus goalie is a bit better vocally and in the box, he does not possess the catlike reflexes from Lanzafame. Behind this duo, youngsters Burrai and Moro may show themselves on the training pitch and duel for a spot in the final selection. Moro, a gentle giant, showed promise in the DBC but lacks the starting experience Burrai has.

Pos Nr Full Name Club Age Cap G A
LD 21 Luca Curiale Virtus Redoccio 25 30 2 0
LD 2 Daniele Gagliano Soldarian FC (VAL) 21 11 0 0
CD 4 Pietro Mazziero FC Pesari 29 30 1 0
CD 5 Salvatore Moscati Esca Unione 34 28 1 0
CD 17 Gaetano Lucarelli Catrallo Calcio 32 20 0 0
CD 25 Giuseppe Rocca Catrallo Calcio 25 1 0 0
CD 7 Orlando Castorani Port Tacassam FC (TKT) 24 24 0 0
CD 30 Valerio Cattai Sportiva Montelcampo 21 -
RD 3 Alessio Rota FC Pesari 28 33 2 1
RD 19 Lorenzo Moreschini Catrallo Calcio 22 6 0 1

A back five is the usually employed tactic but still, Di Tane limits the depth in the selection - in part due to the lack of depth on these positions. On the left, 21-year old Gagliano developed into a starting position as part of the Blades. His speed also makes the line-up a bit less defensive than the numbers make you suspect, as Gagliano makes more infiltrations and crosses than his back-up Curiale. At the other wing, short and stocky Alessio Rota forms an enthused roadrunner who doesn’t ignore his defensive tasks. If the result requires, he can be replaced by the more attacking and very energetic Moreschini - more of a right-wing than a back after all.

The heart of the defense is formed by a rotating cast of four players. Veteran Salvatore Moscati slowed down a bit, but his tactical shrewdness puts him ahead of the very similar Lucarelli: physically strong, powerful header, no-nonsense attitude. Lucarelli has worse feet but a bit more speed - but Orlando Castorani picks that up these days. The fresh, young Port Tacassam defender is a bit more modern in style and increasingly consistent. Third man Mazziero is easily overlooked but the most allround of the defenders and as such the one that can be juggled around positionally in this line-up. We expect few minutes for the other two options: Rocca and Cattai each are decent in their generation, but not ready yet to take over.

Pos Nr Full Name Club Age Cap G A

AM 33 Lorenzo Tosi Fagli Cinquanta 24 1 0 0
AM 28 Davide Trillo Cadadale (ETN) 21 -

The midfield block usually falls into two categories: two holding and two creative midfielders must ensure the balance from the system. So far, Fabrizio Confalonieri still is the face of that first group: he takes no prisoners and will do everything in his might to break your legs stop your progress. Counterpart Di Masi possesses a better infiltration and might pop up in front of goal at times. Still, they must fear the young generation, products of the successful DBC run: Quintarelli combines a sharp tackle with great vision, whilst Cappa can direct a team despite his young age, which puts him in the scales with Di Masi at times. Tornaghi is here to gain experience. If a goal is needed, Di Tane is inclined to add Buglia for one of the two starters. The Estdal box-to-box makes miles and war, offering an additional card in the deck. The selection of Aymo and Bagheria seems to indicate that Di Tane wants to explore what other options he has with his midfield.

Still, we believe he will hold on to a duo of attacking midfielders and there, the biggest question mark of Ortelian football takes place. In theory, there is no doubt about the starting position of Del Prete, a man who earned himself the nickname La Leggenda before joining the Rovers. Del Prete is the posterboy of the selection with his free kicks and exceptional vision guiding ditto passes. Additionally, he showed to rise to the occasion when needed. By his side, we will find either Favaro or Salvatori - with the former slightly overtaking the latter lately. Giacomo Favaro is an industrious yet elegant player, whilst Emilio Salvatori is less flamboyant but makes sharp infiltrations. Being stuck behind this illustrious trio for a starting spot is a nearly impossible task: the remaining trio will mainly focus on earning a selection spot. Sgarbi seems to be the most talented but is quirky and capricious, winger Trillo must be the most consistent but Tosi got a second burst in his development lately and can act more as a traditional number ten.

Pos Nr Full Name Club Age Cap G A
LW 29 Luca Cadili Sportiva Montelcampo 20 -
ST 20 Orazio Canova Rozelle United (BRE) 24 12 5 1
ST 9 Carmine Garofalo Catrallo Calcio 31 30 17 3
ST 15 Romeo Gozzi Robur Astello 27 15 5 0
ST 27 Dennis Spaviero FC Pesari 21 -
ST 32 Pier Luigi Vitali Haitiens (TEQ) 19 -

There is a lot that can be said and written about the starting striker - and trust us, Ortelian newspapers did their bit for that already - but as the statistics confirm, there is no getting around Carmine Garofalo. Il Buffalo does no mind being employed as a sole striker and makes the required space with his strength and speed. What he lacks in refinement, Garofalo easily makes up in power and the last few years, he approaches the ‘one goal per match’ statistic - in the Serie Nazionale, of course. The question remains who will be his back-up if things go awry. Orazio Canova has the advantage of age but his aspired breakthrough in Brenecia did not materialize - he’s acting in the B-League nowadays. On top of that, he’s a bit better in a system with two strikers whilst his adversary for the position, Romeo Gozzi, is more of a lonewolf. A peculiar character, known for escapades on and off the field, Gozzi is a real finisher and on his day, can take on the world. But he might also grab a red for insulting the referee, seduce a female fan or refuse to come off the bench cause he don’t want to. This opens up options for the DBC players who have been added here to monitor their progress: Spaviero is a modern all-round striker but is losing his momentum a bit, being barred in his own club. Cadili offers a chance to play 3-4-3, with Moreschini on the right wing - a rarity, but who knows. And last but not least, there is Piël Vitali, sometimes seemingly absent but also a technical wizard.

San Ortelio, your favorite pseudo-Italian, coastal microstate. Less than half a million inhabitants who stand for a rich culture, are governed
by an delicate yet marvellously balanced system and remain economically viable due to fishing and funky tax laws.
But enough about us. Come vai?

We're no international threat, so have our domestic thread.
Definitely check the invitation box in the OP if you want to get involved.

The Tactics Box
to be used to decide goalscorers
The Hitback Tiki-taka
This tactic is used when our defenders have won the ball from an (counter)attack, corner or goal. The attacking midfielders will be located just past the half-line, towards our goal. The defender who won the ball will then pass to the closest midfielder, usually the CM or CDM. He/she will then pass the ball to the striker or the attacking midfielders. They will then rush through to the goal. Passing the ball amongst each other, when they get the chance, they will strike.
- works when the back line is high up the pitch, or the opposing defense is caught slacking

The Pressuremaker
This tactic is used when the ball is intercepted or won in the middle third. The players will tire out the defense with quick play or passing. When the defense doesn't suspect anything, the ball will be passed to the wingers, who make a run along the flanks into the goal. The ball will be crossed into the box, where the other striker or attacking midfielder/winger will convert it into a shot.
- works late game when the back line is worn out

We don't particularly have tactics for balls won in the final third, or free kicks and corners. feel free to do your own thing.
These tactics don't have to be used by you if you don't want to. However, it is asked that you would, because it would make our play more realistic.

So close, but oh so far.

The Squidroidian national team had reached a renaissance during the IAC, as the Inklings proved to the Independent world that they belonged on a stage like this. Not even a year since Mito got the sack after the worst run the team had at the Cup of Harmony, new manager Adam Johnson guided the team through a hellscape of a group and into the knockout stage. Everybody knew the run from there.

New Lusitania, Poafmersia and Silver Beach all got knocked out by the hands of the Barunian and his Squidroidian team, before a little bit of Tequilo stopped them short of lifting the Independents Cup. It was a run nobody seemed to expect after being on the verge of group stage elimination. Adam Johnson... Saved this Squidroidian national team.

With the Squidroidians staying on as independents for the foreseeable future, though, Johnson would have to focus his campaign on the World Cup. With the Mito led national team going to 4th in his final qualification campaign, an experienced manager like Johnson knew that his team can bridge the gap and qualify for the show on their third appearance in qualification. This was a big if, as time and time again teams much bigger than them would knock off points. Case in point, Cassadaigua, one of the 2 co-hosts. Could they get back up there and find a way around the Dagans? Only time would tell.

And there was 18 games to see if they would go there.

THE STARSIAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM
The Storm Wolves

[img]No%20current%20image%20available[/img]

The Starsian National Football Squad is The 14 Stars's national team in all forms of association football and international football related events and more. Making its debut at the 88th world cup The 14 Stars is a newcomer in all forms and the expectations of the current squad are at an all time low due to this.
Many people believe that this team is not ready for world yet, further because of alot of quite negative news attention all main players that would have played will not be playing in this world cup, which is not only their debut on the international stage but also their debut as a team at all as The Starsian team never played international matches.

The current coach of the squad is Marcus Blade a 45 year old former striker of Lunar Sea a top team in Starsian football, he is known as an offensive thinking person though also very cooperative.
The Starsian team in the trial matches before their entrance into this tournament have shown strong physical football with good cooperation and coordination with a defensive playstyle to the dislikings of many.

The Starsian National Football Team is The 14 Stars's national squad in association football competitions for national associations.
This world cup will be its debut and because expectations are low the current squad consists of older more experienced players.
The team is controlled by the Federation Z who regulates the football as governing authority in the Federation.
known as the Storm Wolves, or affectionately the Starlight-Wolves, the team competes in the World Cup and its related competitions, due to its recent formation the team has no official recorded matches and therefore nearly no data is available.
They are expected to take form in more championships soon and defend Starsian honor.

The current head of the team is Marcus Blade, a coach who played Lunar Prime for and had the hard task of forming a team without any key players.Marcus Blade is a master in the physical aspects of football and has designed a physically strong and defensive team with strong capabilities to stand their ground.
They team is known for their great defense in the trial matches and next to that they are experienced and very patient in their games.

Tactical Set-Up

Earlier told the Starsians are known for their strong defense and use a 6-3-1 formation; the alternate formation is a 4-2-3-1 with the defensive midfield becoming only 2 people. Flares's penalties and free kicks are known to be strong especially from long distances with alot of lenght in front of the goal.
The focus is on defending and patience and striking at the right time.

Left Corner Taker Giovanni Rosario
Right Corner Taker Giovanni Rosario

Indirect FK Taker Morris Valerian

About Bigtopian Isles: Bigtopian Isles is a sovereign country located in the South-east Africa. Made up of 3 big islands and several smaller islands, it shares a maritime border with South Africa and the Madagascar. Not much of it's early and medieval history is known, except for the fact that they were ruled by a 1000 year long dynasty called the Mgun Dynasty, whom they also used to worship as demi-gods. In the later part of the 19th century, the Bigtopian Isles was colonized by the Britain and it was subsequently joined with several other territories to form the larger British Bigtopia. After a bloody war of independence, Bigtopia achieved independence from the British in 1956, after which it quickly descended into chaos. The Independence fighter turned dictator Robert Ndidi's tyrannical reign over the Huthu people of the islands lead to the Bigtopian Isles declaring their independence from the mainland Bigtopia. After another bloody conflict, the islanders finally managed to secede from the mainland Bigtopia and formed the Bigtopian Isles in 1973, while the mainland Bigtopia came to known as the West Bigtopia. Since then, the country has been under continious civil wars, and have never had a long-lasting, stable government in their entire history. The 4th Bigtopian Isles' Civil War, which started in 2012, is still going on between the government and a rebel group called "Free Bigtopian Isles."

The Eshialand Soccer Federation

World Cup 88 Roster
Image

Nickname: the Owls.
Trigram: ESH.

Eshialand is a large nation of about 47,500,000 inhabitants which was never really known for soccer, but rather for ice hockey and baseball. That was, of course, until the 75th Baptism of Fire in Electrum and Reçueçn.

The king had decided that he wanted to field a soccer team, to show the country how much fun the beautiful game could be, and in the Baptism of Fire, the team certainly delivered, culminating in a miraculous championship win. They know they won't qualify for the World Cup, but all they really want to do is put on a good show and continue showing Eshialand just how much fun soccer can be.

Home Stadium: The Eshialand City SuperDome (Eshialand City, Ontario) (capacity: 75,000).
If you're playing in Eshialand City, expect to find a cosmopolitan city at the cutting edge of modern tech, with lots of culture to take in at the same time. Maybe you could go for a bite to eat at one of the many nice restaurants, or spend a nice day with a walk by the lakeshore. There are plenty of options for things to do, so the world is your oyster. The stadium itself is a very modern facility, having just been built in response to the Owls' incredible performance in the Baptism of Fire, with a retractable roof in case of nasty weather (but don't expect to use it much).

Kits (thanks Txakhaxi for the kits and the logo!):

Style modifier: +2.

Head Coach: Kenneth MORGAN (M, 43)
Short-tempered and aggressive, he should be on everyone's "Most Likely to get Ejected" list. He's also fiercely protective of his team, who he treats like family, so if you hurt any of Eshialand's players, expect Coach to retaliate.

Formation: 4-3-2-1

The Roster (starting XI as of the first match in bold):
    Goalkeepers:
      GK #1 Alexander KOLEK (M, 30)
      4 caps

Not originally in the starting XI in the Baptism of Fire, LaPlante shocked everyone with her amazing defensive play after filling in for George Habisbrauer in the first game against Aut-Ves-Nat. Since then, she has been an indispensible part of the starting lineup, making some of the best plays out of everyone on the team. Will her performance keep up in the World Cup Qualifying, or will her stardom fizzle out like a comet?
      RCB #22 George HABISBRAUER (M, 25)
      5 caps
      Spotlight on: George Habisbrauer
Despite an unfortunate incident that sidelined him for most of the Baptism of Fire's group stage, George Habisbrauer has proved himself an essential part of Eshialand's defensive line. As long as he can stay healthy, expect him to keep your attackers on their toes, no matter what.
      CB #23 Andrew TRAVERS (M, 24)
      LB #39 Kyle RIKERS (M, 22)
      CB #42 Evan STEVENS (M, 26)
    Midfielders:
      LM #4 Harriet COPELAND (F, 25)
      3 caps, 1 goal
      Spotlight on: Harriet Copeland
Harriet Copeland is perhaps the most aggressive player on the team, known for being a terrible ball hog and extremely violent when she wants to be. If Coach Morgan puts her in the starting XI for their next game, you know the Owls are going to pull some dirty, dirty tricks.
      RM #5 Michael HORNER (M, 25)
      RM #12 Melissa CAREY (F, 27, CAPTAIN)
      8 caps, 4 goals
      Spotlight on: Melissa Carey
Melissa has played for Obrijak Wolves FC in Galdanulia (OOC: one of my many puppets) for the past three years, showing amazing talent in helping them win their first Galdanulian Premier League championship last year. She has been selected to be the Captain of the Eshian national team, in no small part because of her versatility on the pitch. Her performance in the Baptism of Fire was nothing short of amazing. Despite her unassuming statistics, she proved to be extremely versatile on the field, exactly as she was with her club. Will she repeat her performance in World Cup Qualifying?
      CM #15 James CALACE (M, 22)
      CM #16 Lysander MOORE (M, 28)
      8 caps
      LM #19 Avery MacDOUGALL (F, 26)
      7 caps
      Spotlight on: Avery MacDOUGALL
Avery may not be someone who was originally expected to do much, but she's proven herself an amazing playmaker in the midfield. While she didn't score any goals in the Baptism of Fire, she did rack up plenty of assists and she scored the game-winning penalty kick against Marigred in the round of 16.
    Forwards:
      LW #9 Alyssa LONGFIELD (F, 26)
      8 caps, 3 goals
      ST #10 Jacob HARRAN (M, 23)
      6 caps, 5 goals
      Spotlight on: Jacob Harran
A dynamic striker if there ever was one, Jacob dazzled fans in his rookie season with the Eshian Soccer League's Eshialand City Owls, with his on-pitch antics earning him the moniker "The King of Insanity". If anyone can be expected to make the play of the tournament for the Eshian team, it surely must be Jacob. However, an unfortunate incident in Eshialand's Baptism of Fire quarterfinal game against St. Trinian's has left him sidelined with a concussion for the first couple of qualifying games.
      RW #17 Steven LACHEY (M, 29)
      8 caps, 3 goals
      RW #21 Jonathan HARPER (M, 27)
      ST #24 Alice CARROLL (F, 22)
      2 cap, 2 goals
      Spotlight on: Alice Carroll
One of the youngest members of the team, Alice Carroll was never originally intended to play for the team, only being there in case something went horribly, horribly wrong for Harran. At the end of Eshialand's quarterfinal match against St. Trinian's, however, something did go horribly, horribly wrong, and the "Wonder Girl" started the next two games for the team, scoring a goal in each, proving herself a valuable backup for Harran.
      LW #33 Cameron CROWLEY (M, 25)

For all the faults in his first two years at De Näsjonalpark, World Cup 87 qualification was the long-awaited rehabilitation of John Nicholas Rosencrants and of Saltsteadish football more generally. But despite unexpectedly finishing just one point behind group runners-up New Lusitania and ahead of third and fourth seeds Jeruselem and Oberour Ar Moro, Saltstead’s qualifying success did not translate to the subsequent Cup of Harmony or AOCAF Cup. With Rosencrants taking charge of an almost unprecedented third qualifying cycle, the aim is simply to replicate that third-place finish from last time.

Personnel
Head coach:
Heir John Nicholas Rosencrants [OME]
Assistant coaches: Heir Thomas de Vricht [OME] and Heir Aleksänder van den Bergen
Fitness coach: Heir Clement Kolen | Medical lead: Frue Annelise Prinsen | Physio: Frue Johanne Angelshus
The grandson of Saltsteadish republican dissidents, Rosencrants played as a forward for the Omerica national team before retiring to coach his hometown club Saint Anne Athletic. Achieving stability at the club and guiding them through an unexpected relegation battle, the Saltsteadish-Omerican’s appointment is seen as providing a safe pair of hands to transition Saltstead back into international football after its unexpected interruption. Rosencrants brings along another Saltsteadish-Omerican in former Omerica midfielder and longtime confidant Thomas de Vricht, while employing native Saltsteader Aleksänder van den Bergen to act as a cultural liaison between the Omerican duo and the rest of the Saltsteadish team structure.

Squads
All forty-six players called up for the first stage of the “nations league” AOCAF and for the Rabastor Unity Trophy will play in the qualifiers for De Hegsten. Barring injuries or suspensions, the former will play all of Saltstead’s home matches and the latter will play all of Saltstead’s away matches.

The default Saltsteadish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic attack, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on, with possession mostly confined to the midfield. Saltstead prefer to play a passing game in possession, while attempting to pry the ball away from the opposition when not, either by intercepting a pass or tackling players. The Stallions will attempt to frustrate and infuriate the opposition and are unashamed of playing for draws and advancing via penalty shoot-outs.

Home stadium:
King William VII National Park, Ashwell
(König Wilheum VII Näsjonalpark, Asħwell; capacity: 77,000)
Located in the heart of Romanesque city of Ashwell in the borough of Grandstraxe, UICA Champions’ Cup 70 final venue de Näsjonalpark is at the centre of de Näsjonalplaat, the sporting mecca of the realm and home to the Royal Saltsteadish Olympic Federation, the Royal Saltsteadish Football Association and several of the most important venues in Saltsteadish sport. The surrounding city is an ancient city in the modern era and home to the royal family and some of the nation’s biggest attractions, giving visitors plenty of sightseeing to do before and after the game.

The stadium—which takes its name from the father of Saltsteadish democracy, longest-reigning Saltsteadish monarch and great-grandfather of the Reigning King—is the largest in the country, features amenities such as a retractable roof, air conditioning, sports museum and full Wi-Fi access and is readily accessible to fans through the capital’s bus network and Ondergrundtrein metro system. A venue owned and operated solely by the Royal Saltsteadish Football Association, de Näsjonalpark serves as the usual home of the Saltsteadish national football team, the host venue of Silver and Bronze Division promotion play-off finals and the final of the annual Saltsteadish Royal Cup.

UNITED REPUBLICS OF OMERICA

About Omerica
National anthem: “Hymn of the Avonian Martyrs” (Anglian versionGallic version)
Association code: OME
KPB ranking: 37th (20.33)
All-time record: 189–94–144 (44.3% win rate; 1.55 points per game)
World Cup finals record: 1–0–2 (33.3% win rate; 1.00 point per game)
Record under Alexis Stephanidis: 47–16–15 (60.3% win rate; 2.01 points per game)
[Results from amateur and youth selections are excluded.]

The trajectory of Omerican football has been ever upwards under the stewardship of Alexis Stephanidis. Fresh off the heels of the nation’s two best finishes in a ten-team qualifying group and the team’s second-best points-per-game haul last cycle (plus a run to the semifinals of the Independent Associations Championship), Omerica have now done what many said was nearly impossible: avoid the playoffs and break a nearly three decade qualifying drought. Now at the finals for the first time in a generation, the goal is simply not to be embarrassing.
Staff
Manager: Alexis Stephanidis (age 53; b. Brétolles-de-l’Ouest, Westavon)
Former manager of Malavan Club de Romainbourg, Alexis Stephanidis is a tactician in the traditional vein of Omerican football, searching for redemption in light of her ignominious exit from the now-reigning Omerican champions. Stephanidis is a managerial idealist who believes in the time-honoured tradition of “the best defence is a good offence” and whose sides are known for their flair and (outside trips to Cobrio) for coming in “clutch”. Rebuilding Malavan from their failed campaign to qualify for the OPSL Premier Division—winning an OPSL Second Division title, a Federation Cup and a OPSL Challenge Cup in the process—and winning Andreaskruis promotion in the Second Division playoffs cements her place as the manager to rebuild confidence in the national team.

Assistant Manager: Christina Tedesco (age 47; b. Kingsmouth, Mespalia)
A close associate of previous Omerica manager George Kostas, Christina Tedesco survived the mass staff cull that ensued after Omerica’s home soil collapse at IAC X. Tedesco took over from Kostas during the second half of World Cup 85 qualifying, managing the Incorrigibles to a better-than-expected 4–4–4 record, giving Stephanidis and the Federation the confidence to keep her around. However, she will not have a role in qualifying proper due to the overlapping schedules of the Eagles Cup—whose Omerica squad she will lead as acting manager—and World Cup qualifying.

Fitness coach: Jean-Pierre Marchetti

Per tradition, Omerica has no single designated national stadium and instead rotates home qualifiers between several venues across the country. For the World Cup 88 cycle, the United Republican Soccer Federation will stage Omerica’s home qualifiers across three different venues, with the largest venue reserved for the top two seeds and the former two-time world champions, the second-largest venue for the mid-rank teams and the smallest venue for the lowest ranked teams.

About The Hainan Union
The Hainan Union was founded as Hsintai (literally "new platform") by the members of a group in Asia that did not think it belonged anywhere. The founding Hsintaians, who were Chinese, found the instability of their home country's government to be too much to bear. However, no other place in 1930s Asia was fit for them; to the north, the Soviet Union would require assimilation into a completely different culture and language, something they were not willing to do. Similarly, to the west were countries of peoples and religions alien to the Hsintaians. To the east and south were Japanese-controlled territories- moving there, not surprisingly, was also out of the question. So these leaders, socialist but not ready to embrace radical Communism, aggressive but not in the same way as the Japanese nationalists, decided to form their own country, based in the tropical island of Hainan (formerly the Chinese province of the same name).
While initial dealings with its neighbors were met with hostility, landmark negotiations in the 1980s and membership of the Asian Archipelago alliance led to more widespread recognition, international respect, and a steadily growing economy- all three of which The Hainan Union continues to enjoy today.

Hsintai was renamed The Hainan Union in 2016, in deference to the historical name of the island, and in hopes that more people would recognize its geographic location.

The Hainan Union National Football Team
The Hainan Union's national football team plays a 4-4-2 formation.

Often referred to by the nicknames Agave-Blues on account of their kit or Los Pitxileros [Transl. The Footballers], the Tequilo national team set-up approaches it's fourth cycle of the World Cup with some moderately impressive showings at all age groups, and finally, some real honours on the board following coach Juan Manuel Botín's Independent Associations Championship & Eagle's Cup title wins. That eclipses third-placed finishes in Baptism of Fire 72 and runners-up at the 12th under-18 World Cup as the pinnacle of achievements so far. The feeling before the last IAC was that it may be time to start delivering on early promise for fear of settling in the bracket of good-ish, but not great or even simply never quite good enough - something most Tequiloa, a very relaxed kind of people, would be perfectly happy with but the Tequiloan FA, the Unión, having made such a fuss over the last few years and publishing so much about their great plans for world dominance, could not settle for, politically speaking. Fortunately, coach Juan Manuel seems to have set the national team on an acceptably competitive path... so far. Fans are wildly hopeful of a first qualification to the World Cup proper, though of course coach Juan Manuel is keen to play down such frivolous speculation.

A Brief History of Los Pitxileros

BACKROOM STAFF
WORLD CUP 88

Team Director: Ooóoos Skeuri (AUD), 60;
Former star defender at Tenth Star Hasiera, KT Moreazerua and Raynor City United and 3-cap Audioslavia international, Ooóoos had a successful post-football career in mask-making whilst unknowingly rising to god-like status in Tequilo without even visiting the country. Many still don't believe the real Ooóoos Skeuri is even still alive, rather preferring that he is a wight in the Shambolic Pantheon, and the Man In The Mask at the Unión is an imposter.

Assistant Director: August Toset (JUV), age unknown;
Won a Cup of Harmony as the first manager of the Juvencus national team and took the nation to a second final as runner-up. Employed to further develop the Unión's plan to create multiversally-dominating pitxi tactics, and given temporary charge as head coach for the last Cup of Harmony to see if he could emulate his success with his home nation. He couldn't: Los Pitxileros bowed out at the round of 32 for the third tournament in a row. But with Ooóoos and coach Juan Manuel Botín, he is building a blueprint for future success.

HEAD COACH: Juan Manuel Botín, 41;
Ex-player for Motozintla, learned his coaching trade with former national team coaches Isaac Martí (resigned) and Luka Entenza (retired through ill-health), apparently destined for moderately good things. Coached the under-18 national team to 3rd and 2nd place finishes in the youth world cup, a NT reserve group to the last Mike Sarzo Memorial Trophy, and capped this with the title at the last IAC. He formally succeeded August Toset as the NT seniors head coach, and began with a brief to 'give a good showing' in the Eagles Cup. He won the whole darned thing with a 100% record.

Assistant Head Coach: Genaro Rodis, 52;
Former assistant to Ramiro Paredo at SC Pedregal and then with the national team, a quiet man who was instrumental in developing and bringing through so many young talents for club and country. Whilst Paredo's time as national team coach was not deemed a success, in fact something of a failure, Genaro is well liked by senior players, and has been instrumental in securing a place in this squad for some of the younger talents.

Coach: Haize Apeiztegui, 37;
A professor of the game and brilliant defender coming to the last of his playing days at Unuiĝinta, recently retired from playing for the national team as a supporter’s favourite, and one of Tequilo’s most-capped players (60 caps, 6th on the all time list). Temporarily assistant to Juan Manuel with the under-23s at the last IAC, he has landed a full coaching role permanently after such success in that tournament.

Coach: Terenzio Ramon, 47;
A much-admired coach at national champions Pitxi-Pitxi 77, he enjoyed a secondment to the national set-up in World Cup cycle 86 and joined the national set up full time in the following World Cup; he is also head coach of the under-21 national team. During a long and itinerant playing career, he turned out for a dozen clubs across the country and abroad; and even spent two seasons at the mighty Sparta Misión in Tamarindia, the where the football is so sublime, they have banned themselves from competing with anyone else.

Coach: Callanuapa, 39;
Like Haize Apeiztegui, Callanuapa is one of the veteran players of the original Baptism of Fire team, a fine defensive midfielder who helped to define the modern 'Pitxilero' approach. Recently retired from playing in his one club career with Equipo Caimán where he won two state titles, he played 29 times for his country, taking 5 player-of-the-match awards, and is now the full time head coach of the national under-18 team.

Team Captain: Vilca Hualla, ML, 26
Vilca Hualla succeeded legend and first capitan of the national team Mateo Tafalla for the previous World Cup cycle after Mateo retired from international football. Though it was not a happy cycle overall for the team, with disappointing results on the field and controversy off it, this was no reflection on the stewardship of the young, talented captain. Two consecutive record transfer moves to top multiversal clubs in KT Itzalovalle (AUD) and most recently FC Mar Sara (VAL) have underlined his quality. Captained his side to Eagle's Cup glory.

Vice Captain: Oscar Bienvenida, GK, 23;
Recently completed a record-breaking run of consecutive caps for his country, starting 30 games in a row for Los Pitxileros, holds the current record for most caps (82) and the records for most clean sheets (24) and consecutive clean sheets (4) for the national team. The young goalkeeper still has years ahead of him but is already a mature and experienced figure around the national camp. Also captains his club team, Motozintla, where he signed for a then record domestic transfer fee of ₸3.75m from Tumuloa Xico, and he still holds the record transfer as the most expensive goalkeeper in Tequilo.

CAMPAIGN SQUAD
PLAYING STAFF

New head coach Juan Manuel Botín followed success in the IAC by taking the Eagle's Cup title in a very promising start to his stewardship of the national team; it was an interesting squad selection and a good indicator of what was to come - particularly in his backing of former young charges he had managed back through two national under-18 World Cups which ended with third and second-placed finishes. It appeared he has looked back at the last disappointing World Cup cycle and quietly lumped the blame for a disappointing showing on the defence as much as anyone, dropping regular rightback pair Eolo Sorazar and Huachalla, leftbacks Llösë Lea and Blêxu, and centre half Antton Machinena for his first official full senior squad. Of those missing out in the Eagles Cup, Blêxu at least gets restored to the second XI, while Antton Machinena has distant hopes of reviving his international career with a place in the 'Thirds', coach Juan Manuel's reserve section.

Experienced favourite Huracan and durable utility defender Noxochinoch are the only defensive picks from previous campaigns who didn't come through the junior sides with Juan Manuel, as he puts his faith in the new batch of dynamic defenders that he has been working with for some years at the intermediary age groups - Ostando Bertendona, José Tavia, Tol Chicote, Emmanuel París, Diogo Junco and Ochoa Abril.

The rest of the starting XI will be familiar to followers of Los Pitxileros, including a return for Ecuador - dropped from the Eagles Cup, his record domestic signing at Haïtiens and his blistering domestic season where he is currently rivalling national team mate Tlacolotl in terms of goals scored and ratings, has made it impossible not to select him back in that partnership role. That is tough on Alexandro Calvoecheaga, who performed brilliantly in the Eagles Cup, but will have to settle for a place in the second XI. Pedro Rôa also impressed so much in the IAC tournament and Eagles Cup, and keeps his place in the main squad.

There are perhaps six potential national team debutants hoping for a call-up this cycle, most notably perhaps two players who are going well abroad and have demonstrated that being out of sight doesn't mean being out of mind - marauding fullback Paö, plying his trade in Pasarga for Hellenic Rouge, and Quebec-based striker Christian Duque who is emerging as something of a prospect at CSKA. We might also see the long-awaited debut of centre-half prospect Goio Vigo, always touted as a future giant and beginning to come into his own following his move to title-chasers Haïtiens - he of course is one of Juan Manuel's favourite charges from back in the early days of the promising under-18 national team he took charge of. Jesús Tasis (Pingüinos), Català (Florentino) and Puma Caldeira (Real Gardaresso) also feature in the squad for the first time following promising showings in the domestic league.

CITY OF FOOTBALL
TAPALUPÉ

Image
ESTADIO ÁGUILAR: HOME OF LOS PITXILEROS
Tapalupé, Tequilo. Capacity 81,810

The national stadium, the jewel in the crown of Tequilo's 'Football City' development centre of El Unión (that's the national FA to you and me), opened it's turnstiles for the first time with three 'test matches' against the confederation champions of Ao, Rushmore and Esportiva as part of Tequilo's winning debut in the Eagles Cup. Built over the top of the former 'character' suburb of Quezaldad on the outskirts of the capital city Tapalupé, it had become a complete white elephant as the Unión failed to progress from demolishing a residential zone of some 300,000 people into building the dream centre. After eight years of ruin, new Unión project manager Carolina Ruiz got the whole thing erected inside twelve months and was subsequently voted Unión President for Life. After hosting Cassadaigua in the opening event, followed by ties against The Commonwealth of Baker Park and Nova Anglicana de Esportiva, Ciudad de Pitxi now looks forward to hosting it's first ever NS World Cup fixtures for Los Pitxileros.

Following the title win in the Eagle's Cup, Tequilo is now a permament member of the Eagle's Club and the national stadium is named in honour of that championship - Eagle Stadium, or Estadio Águilar in the local lingo.

The headquarters of the Unión, formerly located in the Museo de Pitxi in the Socrates district, has moved to state of the art facilities in the Ciudad, which includes the national stadium; a second stadium, the Estadio Juvenil with a capacity of 32,300 to host secondary games including the national amateur People's Cup Final, youth internationals and most likely future internationals within hosted tournaments; the national physiotherapy centre; the Escuela Nacional de Pitxi or national football school to help development of Tequilo's youth players; and the commercial headquarters of several sports-related companies including sportswear manufacturers Natty kit., sports data company XK-OpTeq, Bonesea sports publisher BoldSport and their Tequiloan imprint GOLa (trading as GOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLa!!!), and multiversal scouting group KickAdviser™. It is also expected the famous Museo de Pitxi will eventually move there, or at least open a second facility in 'Football City'. Having won the tenth edition of The Eagle's Cup, a fully-fitted Eagle's Club will be constructed in the district in due course.

To increase revenue, both stadiums have taken on domestic tenant teams with Fábrica Tapalupé, the state of Ocotapa's most successful team with 19 state championships, enthusiastically moving into the national stadium, thus succeeding Real Gardaresso as the domestic team with the largest stadium - by ten seats. Meanwhile Galaxía, without a proper home these last nine years since the demolition of Quezaldad and their ramshackle Domo Galaxía stadium, will be delighted to upgrade as tenants of the Estadio Juvenil.

QUICKSTART RP GUIDE
PERMISSIONS & OTHER NOTES

Have fun. Maybe don't kill everyone. At least not all at once.

*RRR: the Right to Reciprocity Reserved

The ‘Paeips’ (‘peeps’) system - as noted in the squad listing - is there to assist your RP, if you need it. Full description ‘Personality As Expressed In Playing Style’, it uses a single word to sum up how the person plays, and/or how they are off the ball, off the field, off the clock and off piste… feel free to interpret that one word how you wish, or ignore it.

Most likely to get…

Poacher's tap in: Tlacolotl
20-metre screamer: Ecuador
Applauded for fancy panenka: Ricardo Bailén
Laughed at for bungled panenka: Tsttnauayui
Drilled down the middle: Ostando Bertendona
Jeered for over-exuberant celebrations: Xaime Medal
First minute booking: Vilca Hualla
Last minute winner: Niño Pinto
Early bath for handbags: Milan Lucio
Stretcher to the tunnel: Turbolito
Blood-covered rag around head: Ixtub Tün
Tackle of the season: Tol Chicote
Book of tactics for extra-curricular homework: Alexandro Calvoecheaga
A packet of sweets, a pat on the head, and excused from doing his homework for the night: Chiuhihua
Early nomination for legend status: Paö

The average Tequiloan has an exceedingly high SQ (shambolic quotient) meaning they are really very good at creating and thriving in chaos… they generally get things done in a very roundabout and often nonsensical way, usually with an unbelievably high portion of luck (either good or bad). They are happy to lose, and prefer it in chaotic fashion - it's all about the journey, not the result. 0-7 is much more interesting than 0-1. Apparently.

For the purpose of media marketing, the PR company attached to the UPT has decided the national team will take the nickname Los Pitxileros - the imaginative epithet translates as ’The Footballers’ - although the press and fans mostly prefer to use ’the agave-blues’ on account of their shirt colour.

OOC: Always happy to collaborate - drop me a TG.
