WLC 37 in the Commonwealth of Baker Park

Image

Welcome to the Commonwealth of Baker Park for the World Lacrosse Championship XXXVII, presented by the Baker Park Lacrosse Association (BPLA).
This is the second occasion that the Commonwealth has welcomed the best lacrosse nations in the multiverse to compete, and we hope to present a tournament as successful and fan friendly as the last time the WLC took place.

We invite all participants signed up for the tournaments to post their RP's and rosters in this thread. (Please reserve OOC questions/comments to the signup thread)

With 24 participants in this year's tournament, there will be 4 groups, each with 6 teams, who will play single round robin.
The top 3 finishers in each group will advance to the playoff stage, where the top 4 teams will be seeded into the quarterfinals, and the other 8 will be matched up in the first round, based on placing when tiebreakers are factored in-- head to head points, head to head goal difference, overall goal difference, goals scored and coin flip (OOC extra tie-breaking match).
There will be no drawn matches during group stage (OT in all matches); wins will be worth Three points while OT losses shall earn one point. [Edit--this is a change to conform to the existing WLC Official Ranking Formula, which as VP I should have known!].

Schedule
Groups drawn--April 26
Matchday 1--April 30 (1v6, 2v5 3v4)
Matchday 2--May 1 (5v3, 6v4, 1v2)
Matchday 3--May 2 (4v5, 3v1, 2v6)
Matchday 4--May 3 (1v4, 2v3, 6v5
Matchday 5--May 4 (4v2, 3v6, 5v1)
OFF--May 5
Playoff Round--May 6
Quarterfinal--May 8
Semi-final--May 10
3PPO/Final--May 12

Cutoff will between 11pm-midnight EDT (0400-0500 UTC) daily. Hence, MD 1 will cutoff on Friday night in the US and A and Western Hemisphere, early morning for our European friends and midday for the ANZAC/Western Pacific crowd. 8)

ICly, the order of the matches in the schedule represents which Game (1,2,3) you'll be playing on a given day--early afternoon (1pm-ish), late afternoon/early evening (5pm-ish, night (under the lights, so 8pm-ish) and the venue assignments will be posted with the IC info in the next post.

Group A
Qzvarkian Qaz (20)
Delaclava (18)
Kriegiersien (9)
San Lucas Agua Tibia (UR)
Taxonomic Kingdoms (UR)
Abanhfleft (1)

Group B
Nyowani Kitara (31)
Kandonica (UR)
Vangaziland (4)
Baker Park (6)

Group C
Bollonich(UR)
Sannyamathland (UR)
Northwest Kalactin (25)
Cassadaigua (7)

Group D
Sarzonia (5)
HUElavia (3)
Xabia (UR)
United States of Devonta (46)
Quebec & Shingoryeo (26)
Qasden (19)

procedural note--I did not take advantage of the accepted practice to move myself into the first pot, as only 2 of the top 12 in the rankings are not entered here. It would've put me ahead of both Sarzonia & Vangaziland, so pots remained true to the official numbers.

Head of State Timothy M Wentworth, Prime Minister Rebecca Schoenlein, and all of the citizens of the Commonwealth welcome the 23 teams and their fans from across the multiverse for the 37th World Lacrosse Championships. Our first opportunity hosting the event was for WLC 31, and it proved to a massive success as well as a springboard towards our co-hosting the AOCAF LVIII and World Cup 84 soccer tournaments.

Located on the southern tip of the Calanian landmass within Atlantian Oceana—at nearly the geographic center of the region--Baker Park is one of the top tourist destinations in the region and the multiverse, welcoming nearly 2.1 million visitors per year; we have a mostly temperate climate, with autumn and early winter the times of the year when precipitation is heaviest. Outdoor enthusiasts have a wide choice of activities and adventures to choose, as do folks who appreciate the arts, culture and sightseeing.

Baker Park was formally established in 1892, and has from its inception been open and inclusive of all people seeking to make settled lives here; more recently, the country has seen a rise in the number of immigrants from other AO nations and beyond, & has worked to provide wider access & accommodation to sentient non-human species who have made their home within our borders.

The nation consists of seven constituent states—the State of Baker Park, Endover, Osheana, Ezra, Midalia, St Leon, and Lynchana—each with their own unicameral legislative body, united as a federal parliamentary democracy; the Parliament consists of the 175 member House of Assembly and the 56 member Council of State.
The engine has driven the country's economy through most on history is the industrial conglomerate that was founded by the family that established the nation, the Baker International Corporation. Known by citizens as "The Company", “The International” or simply BI, at one time it was responsible for close to 50% of the nation's GDP; the past 30 years has seen divestment from many of the sectors of the economy, resulting in a solidified base that has seen unprecedented levels of growth.

One of the unusual things you'll have a hard time overlooking is that we have a bit of a national Victoriana fetish; we have places, parks, buildings, bars, restaurants, streets and anything else you can think that has a referential connection to late 19th century life. But make no mistake, we are at the forefront of cutting edge technology, education, environmental action and proactive social policy.

Travel in Baker Park is easy and safe due to the modern mass transportation infrastructure that the country has built over the last 60 years. Connections to major cities are available via rail, road, plane or ferry. Rental cars are available at relatively modest prices as competition is fierce among rental firms; almost any type of vehicle you might wish to hire is available, as the Commonwealth automobile market is made up of about 35% imports, so you'll find about any make or model you could imagine.

Belle Haven International Airport (BHX) serves 41 foreign & domestic carriers and accommodates over 900 takeoffs and departures per day. The airport is approximately 18 miles south of the city center, and there are numerous ground transportation options for arriving visitors at Belle Haven International. There are also international standard airports that have direct connection from many nations both within AO and beyond. (see map)

Belle Haven has the largest and best developed subway/commuter rail system in the country (and possibly in the multiverse!). CARTA (Capital Area Rapid Transit Authority) operates underground, above ground & light rail trains and trolleys, connected to a major bus network, all meticulously time coordinated to allow anyone the ease of traveling from one side of the Metro to the other at nearly any time of the day or night; free transfer across platforms, along with connections to the airport, central train station and passenger river ferry terminals makes Belle Haven one of the most hassle free places to get around in anywhere.

Host Cities
Belle Haven is the national capital of the Commonwealth; with a metro area population of over 5.6 million, it is also the largest city, the financial, entertainment, and cultural center of the country, and more than likely your first stop on your trip to Baker Park. There is no shortage of things to keep one occupied or entertained here; “boring”, “dull”, or “not interesting” come up so rarely on comment cards left at the many public buildings, museums, galleries and exhibits that draw visitors (almost all free of charge) that it nearly causes an investigation when it does occur.

Venues

Sportsmen's Park, Belle Haven (39,000)
Match Schedule: Semi-Finals/3PPO/Final

The nation's oldest stadium and its most visited & recognizable to even the slightly casual Baker Park sports fan. Most of the famous "firsts" in sport history occurred at the venue over the years since it was completed in 1921; its name comes from the former Deauville Sportsmen's Club—charter members of the FAC in 1901.

The University Stadium, Belle Haven (23,000)
Match Schedule (GROUP A):
MD1—Gm 1&3
MD2—Gm 3
MD3—Gm 1
MD4—Gm 2&3
MD5—Gm 2
Playoff Gm #4

It is still possible--right now as you read this--for someone living within the Commonwealth of Baker Park to leave their home and arrive at the The University Stadium, having only literally walked and/or caught a train as the only transportation choices, within 18 hours.
Harold Knapp, the radio voice of UBP sports for 47 years, had no reservations about casually tossing out that claim on a regular basis

Endborough is the Commonwealth's Second City in almost every sense. A population of 1.7 million live in the city itself, with nearly another 2 million packed into the surrounding suburbs (and we're only half joking—it's the most densely populated county in Baker Park by a long shot).
Located in the northeastern part of the country, at the confluence of the Belle Haven and White River, it's the state capital of Endover and the home of the two of the nation's top institutions of higher education, the University of Endover, and Endborough College.

Ludlow Road, Endborough (14,000)
Match Schedule (GROUP D):
MD1—Gms 1&3
MD2—Gm 1
MD3—Gms 2&3
MD4—Gm 3
MD5—Gms 1&3

Oceana is the capital of Osheana, and the third largest city. It has always had a reputation as being the "anti-Belle Haven", due to its more conservative outlook and tradition. About 3 million people live in the metropolitan region, and although it is one of the strongest lacrosse playing areas in the country, it will only have a single venue this time after having two in WLC 31.

Venue

Selvey Commons, Oceana (12,000/15,500)
Match Scedule (GROUP B):
MD1—Gms 1&2
MD2—Gm 2
MD3—Gms 1&2
MD4—Gm 2
MD5—Gms 1&3

Coolville is the capital of Midalia state and the fifth largest city in Baker Park. The leading area in production for the the Chemical and synthetic products industry, it also is the major center of the thoroughbred horse industry; the nation's most well known (and toughest) race track, Belvedere Course, lies about 20 miles southeast of downtown. (You've missed out on the second leg of the Baker Park Triple Crown--The Victoria Plate--which is run at Belvedere, but there's racing every day with the first post always at 1:27 pm sharp.)

Venue
Image

The State College Stadium, Coolville (26,000)
Match Schedule: QF #1 & #3

Riverside is either the 9th largest...or 7th largest, or maybe 11th largest city in the country; it won't be until the next census in 24 months time that numbers 7-11 (covered by 27,000 residents) are sorted out. Established 25 miles upriver from Belle Haven in 1889, it grew rapidly as a boom town and served as a check, along with Clayton to the west of Metro Belle Haven, to the capital's expansionist zeal over the years.

Riverside City Stadium, Riverside (18,000)
Match Scedule: (GROUP A)
MD1—Gm 2
MD2—Gms 1&2
MD3—Gms 2&
MD4—Gm 1
MD5—Gms 1&3

The Riverside is easily accessible from downtown Belle Haven via subway/light rail connections and has an excellent atmosphere for matches, despite the running track that surrounds the pitch.

Salisbury has been one of the fastest growing areas in the Commonwealth for 20 years; the controversial expansion of the CARTA Red Line subway/commuter rail beyond the BH city limits to the heart of Salisbury's business district in the 1990's has meant that the town and surrounding borough have developed into an exurban satellite for commuters.

Venue
Image

Salisbury Stadium, Salisbury (25,900)
Match Schedule: QF #2 & #4
The town's central location at a major expressway crossroads means that the stadium hosts many prominent sporting events--pro, college, high school.

Alton is the capital of the Commonwealth's smallest state by population and area, Lynchana. Over 330,000 people reside in the metropolitan area, and it's not only a center for mining exploration but the terminus for the railways that run along the eastern and southern areas of the country.

Venue

War Memorial Stadium, Alton (23,000)
Match Schedule: (GROUP C)
MD1—Gms 1&2
MD2—Gm 1
MD3—Gm 1
MD4—Gms 1&2
MD5—Gm 2
Playoff Gm#2

Alton has coveted a host city role in nearly every major tournament Baker Park has bid for; they will not disappoint on a big stage.

Hannover's loss was Springfield's gain when the Northern States Railway chose a more northerly route for the cross-country main line. Prior to then, it had been a growing hub for the farming and agriculture commodity sector, but although some agri-business companies moved north, several others stayed behind.

Venue

Fritz Schaefer Stadium, Hannover (14,000)
Match Schedule: (GROUP D)
MD1—Gm 2
MD 2—Gms 2&3
MD3—Gm 1
MD4—Gms 1&2
MD5—Gm 2
Playoff Gm #3

St Stephen's County is another hotbed of lacrosse in this country, evidenced by the fact that 'the Fritz' had sellouts for every match played there in WLC 31.

Kellerville was a sleepy, rural county seat until the early 1960's, when the expressway came through, which spurred growth in industry and led to the elevation of Kellerville State University from agricultural extension college to full 4 year status in 1973. The town and surrounding area is home to around 180,000 people.

Princess Helena Sports Park, Kellerville (11,867/14,000)
Match Schedule: (GROUP C)
MD1—Gm 3
MD2—Gms 2&3
MD3 Gms 2&3
MD4—Gm 3
MD5—Gms 1&3

Northfield Borough and its "twin" community, Ridgedale comprise one of Baker Park's anomalous political units, the loosely defined "big borough".
If you love fields of corn as far as the eye can see, you've come to the right place. Since WLC 31, there has been a concerted effort at improving the number available hotel rooms throughout the county and now they even have a Visitors & Tourist Bureau that has worked hard to build an impressive day-trip experience; the recent WGP2 race at the Drummond Vale Circuit (approx 25 min drive southwest) brought some more attention to the area.

Finally
Yesses & Noes—Do's and Don'ts
The word almost every child learns when they reach a point where multi-syllable vocabulary becomes a part of speech is “propriety”; understanding proper respect & behavior isn't limited to grandparents lecturing youngsters.

We, as a society, don't believe we make a lot of rules or restrict things arbitrarily; but we expect everyone to follow those rules and restrictions.

Drink—18 years old for consumption/purchase
Bars/Pubs/Clubs have closing time at 3:00 am. Only establishments that serve a full menu of food are allowed to serve alcohol prior to 11:15 am on any day.

Cannabis—same as above, although NO importation of any kind is permitted; your stash will be seized and you'll be moved along.
There are legal dispensaries for cannabis and related products in almost every city and town—you'll need to present your passport or a photo ID-- with the amount you are permitted to purchase set by local ordinance; ask ahead of time what restrictions are in force.

Other Narcoticsstay at home. Don't come. The discovery of any drug on your person or in your physical possession that is not dispensed by a Medical Doctor, or not recognized as a legitimate OTC medicine in Your Nation, is legally considered under the Baker Park Criminal Code as ipso facto smuggling, regardless if the amount is so small that it clearly is for your own private use. 1st Degree Misdemeanor, 5.5 months minimum or some lesser sentence + monetary punishment.
It only gets uglier from there.

Prostitution—the grayest of legal gray areas in this country. It is not illegal to pay for or accept money for 'services'; yet it's not technically legal as a federal standard everywhere. Some local jurisdictions may have ordinances that confine the practice to certain places or certain degrees of "offense", but NO legal entity is permitted to make prostitution or solicitation more than a minor misdemeanor, i.e., what is called a “summary crime”, a 4th degree offense that results in a citation and a fine.

Gambling—we have legal casino gambling in Baker Park; there is a modern casino downtown in Belle Haven as well as casinos in East Liverpool (just south of Endborough) and suburban Oceana. We have para-mutual wagering on thoroughbred horse racing (flat/chase} and video poker/slot centers at several other race tracks.

Violent crime is extremely rare in the Commonwealth. There is a higher chance you will fall off a subway platform than be assaulted or robbed with a firearm, and we take pride in the safety of our subways systems.

At the end of the day, our police don't want to arrest foreign nationals visiting for sporting events; but we have the capability to expel you from the physical boundaries of the nation within 36 hours of the commission of crime.

Have a Nice Day.

Sarzonia Stars
If you RP first, you may/may not do the following:
You may choose my goalscorers/goalscoring events
Everything else (Godmoding/injuries/ejections
Suspensions, violence/pandemics) is a no-go

Style: 0 (balanced between attack-minded and defensive)
Home grounds: Franz Braddock Stadium in Woodstock, capacity 35,000.
Please note: This team is renowned for its fair play. If you attack first, it will retaliate, but it will not initiate a fight.

Manager Jordan Helms, 48
Helms was a compromise choice as Stars manager after the Incorporated Lacrosse Federation couldn't come to terms with any of their prospective choices. Helms agreed to retain former manager Carter Whitlock's coaching staff and roster, saying he wanted to give the team a chance to become "[his] guys."

Defensive Coordinator: Makeeyah Brantley (43 years old)
Brantley is stepping in as defensive coordinator after the Stars fired longtime defensive boss Bill Harbour following his intemperate comments about Cassadaigua's national team. She served as a defensive coordinator at the collegiate and pro levels for eight years.
Offensive Coordinator: Tyler Pawlenty (51 years old)
Pawlenty helped mold offenses in college, in particular Rypien State College during a four-year period when that school won three collegiate national titles. His teams emphasise possession and patience, often including multiple passes before taking the perfect shot.
Assistant Coach: George Tomlin (35 years old)
Tomlin recently retired as a faceoff specialist after a collegiate career that saw him win 78 percent of his faceoffs. During his professional career in Sarzonia, he won 69 percent of his faceoffs. He can coach multiple styles of faceoffs, taking into account multiple fogos.
Assistant Coach: Bradley Morse (55 years old)
Serves as goalie coach. He helped several Sarzonian World Lacrosse Championship winning teams with goalies in an informal capacity. Now, he's coming out of retirement to provide assistance as a paid full-time coach after Whitlock convinced him to do so.

Lacrosse Today

Hello and welcome Bollonich, to the one and only stop for everything Lacrosse related. Today we shall be talking about the upcoming 37th Lacrosse World Cup in which Bollonich is taking part. The host nation is the Commonwealth of Baker Park whose Lacrosse Association recently announced the structure of the competition and the schedule.
The BPLA’s official announcement:-
With 24 participants in this year's tournament, there will be 4 groups, each with 6 teams, who will play single round robin.
The top 3 finishers in each group will advance to the playoff stage, where the top 4 teams will be seeded into the quarterfinals, and the other 8 will be matched up in the first round, based on placing when tiebreakers are factored in-- head to head points, head to head goal difference, overall goal difference, goals scored and coin flip.
There will be no drawn matches during group stage; wins will be worth Three points while OT losses shall earn one point.

And the official schedule is :-
Groups drawn--April 26
Matchday 1--April 30
Matchday 2--May 1
Matchday 3--May 2
Matchday 4--May 3
Matchday 5--May 4
Playoff Round--May 6
Quarterfinal--May 8
Semi-final--May 10
3PPO/Final--May 12

Apart from official announcements by the BPLA, the BBL also announced the roster for the entire tournament which was to be managed Winfield Bárta. The official list of players are:-

#9 Corvinian Gervasio - 28
#7 Proteus Verity - 26
#11 Tim Brune - 20
#21 Slavomin Malik - 26
#17 Modu Fairbairn - 23

The surprising aspect of the announced squad is that there isn’t a single player above the age of 30. The squad seems to be extremely revamped and fresh to the stage, hence it will be interesting to see how Bollonich performs.
All matches shall be shown on our very own TV channel LTVSport.
The Group stage draw that is to be announced tomorrow will be covered live on our TalkShow LacrosseLive.

The interview process to replace Bill Harbour, the former defensive coordinator and Jordan Helms's right-hand man on the Sarzonian national lacrosse team went through a variety of coaches, both international and Sarzonian.

For Makeeyah Brantley, the process began with a one-on-one interview with Helms. To prepare for it, she started by watching every match the Stars current team played, both under former manager Carter Whitlock and under Helms. She took careful notes and developed a presentation to make her case for whatever changes she intended to make. She knew if she made it past this stage that she would also have to make a similar presentation to the Incorporated Lacrosse Federation's Board of Governors.

Even so, she'd only talked with Helms a couple of times over the phone, first in a phone interview, and then set up one or two video conversations with him so both could at least get a sense whether or not the chemistry was right. When it felt clearly like a natural fit, that's when Helms brought her in for the interview.

The two coaches talked tactics. They talked about the players and their chemistry with each other. But as Brantley and Helms talked, it was clear to Helms that Brantley was the right fit for the job. Not just because she didn't want to reinvent the wheel with a defence that served the Stars well. Not just because she felt the team as constructed was already on its way to winning its sixth championship. But because the two clicked as a pair. Brantley felt it, too. So much so that she made a mental note to look Helms up on social media and follow and send him a friend request even if he or the Board of Governors decided on a different candidate.

Pretty soon, though, the Board saw within the first 10 minutes of a scheduled two-hour session exactly what Helms saw. Board member Howard Blakeson even told his colleagues during a break after her interview was done that he picked up on how well the chemistry worked between Helms and Brantley. He was sold. So, too, were the other members. Even as four other candidates walked through the doors into the room for interviews, Brantley was the clear favourite. Other than minor squabbling with her agent over contract terminology, the deal was quickly finished and she was tapped as the new defensive coordinator.

Offensive coordinator Tyler Pawlenty was the new second in command behind Helms, but even Pawlenty soon recognised that Helms and Brantley jelled well together.

For Sarzonia's defensive-minded players, it was going to be very much "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" in terms of tactics. The chemistry with Brantley was going to be different, but it would hopefully work out just as well.

After the failures of the 28th and 29th World Lacrosse Championships, and especially the 29th edition where Banija got eliminated in the group stages of the WLCs for the first time ever, everything was torn down. The Olympic Committee of Banija seized control, and voted the sport's independent governing body(a rarity in Banija) out of existence. Various reforms were introduced. Chief among them- rid themselves of those who failed. The entire coaching staff was purged, and with it, not a single player who was on the WLC 28 or 29 roster was invited back to form the WLC 30 roster. Those high up in Banija called the WLC 29 group stage elimination, on home soil, of a nation that considered themselves an international lacrosse powerhouse an 'absolute embarassment to the country' and vowed for deep reforms to ensure that this did not ever happen again.

This, of course, happened before the 30th WLCs, in Cassadaigua. The Banijans were able to escape the group stage, once again, but fell to an ancient power in this sport- Sarzonia, by a score of 10-9, in the Round of 16. It was followed by a disappointing entry at the Champions Challengers Cup, where they fell to both Baker Park and Sarzonia in West Guiana, to finish 0-2. In the 31st WLCs, the Banijans finally overcame recent struggles by geting back to where they felt they belonged, the semifinals, though they fell at that stage in Baker Park. While they regressed at WLC 32, only going .500 in the group stage and getting knocked out in the Round of 16 by the tournament's top seed, they've restructured the squad. While they kept the defense and goalies, they made big changes up top, replacing all 7 midfielders on the roster, as well as changing out a number of attacking players. The WLC 33 cycle began strongly, with the team winning the Moravica Lacrosse Invitational en route to going 6-0 in group play. However, they were downed by Sarzonia in the quarterfinals, once again giving the Banijans an early exit from lacrosse's premier tournament.

WLC 34 was the most success this team has had in quite a while. While the team only got 2nd place in their group, their 4-2 finish put them into the knockout stages. They hit their stride in the knockout stages, beating a trio of lacrosse giants- West Phoenicia, then Sarzonia, and then the Commonwealth of Baker Park, en route to their first final since WLC 21. While they were favored in the Final, HUElavia was one better, downing the Banijans by a score of 14-9, as they came out of nowhere, in their first ever WLCs, and found themselves crowned champions of the world. After a quarterfinal elimination WLC 35, Banija was back at it in WLC 36, going undefeated in the group stages, including an upset victory over longtime rival Abanhfleft, who have delivered Banija so much pain in this sport while we have failed to return the favor.

They reached the semifinals, before playing their dreaded Fleftic opponents. There was a sense of optimism in the camp brought to them by their AO championship that preceded this tournament. But an Abanhfleft team that looked down and out brought the high-flying Banijans down to Earth, reminding us exactly who was the boss in this sport as they eliminated us once again in the late stages of this tournament, en route to their record sixth title. This Banijan team will look to return the favor at WLC 37 here in Baker Park.

Official Nyowani Kitara National Lacrosse Team roster for the 36th World Lacrosse Championships

Head Coach: Laurin Schaufelberger. 42 years old. Ethnic Osterlander.
Demonym: New Kitaran for the nationality- Kitaran for the ethnic group.
Trigamme: NKT
Governing Body: Kitara People's Lacrosse Association.

Nyowani Kitara is a nation that is a multi-ethnic and largely bi-racial communist nation, ruled in a one party state. There are two major ethnic groups- the Kitara(approximately 57% of the population), who are black skinned people who originate as part of the Kitara tribe, in Banija, and mass migrated to Nyowani Kitara in the 1840s. They conquered the land that was dominated by a variety of white native tribes. Osterlanders(approximately 30% of the population) are the biggest native white ethnic group, with Nordlanders(6%) and Zealanders(1%) behind them. The remaining 6% are largely white immigrants and their descendants from neighboring countries (particularly Graentfjall, Tikariot, and San Ortelio).

Nyowani Kitara is known for its short, yet harsh, winters. This is a small and poorer country, and therefore outdoor sports are rather popular in this corner of Rushmore. Ethnic group for each player is listed. While sports in Nyowani Kitara are integrated on gender, this team specifically is all males.

The Kriegiersien Lacrosse Nationalteam

consists mainly out of Xvarts, locals from the recently conquered stolen lands, that have become very proficient in the sport. A team of Xvarts from that region was able to overcome the competition from the south and win the national championship, later forming the team 'Just some Dudes', dominating the national competition. But on international club level the team 'Just some Dudes' didn't win anything in the IDLO.
Out of that team and some token Orc and human players from the Schoenwetter Weasels, a squad was formed to compete at the World Championship.
After failing in the last two WLC to impress and with the Zombie Dudes winning surprisingly the shortened Kriegiersien championship, the Nationalteam was further reinforced with some of the championship Zombie Players.

For a nation where nudity is mandatory, clothes are always a nice surprise. Kriegiersien comes as always in their black Olympic rags.. jerseys.

The Taxonomic Kingdoms are inhabited by deities of the natural world. They believe that all living things are equal, regardless of species. This is NOT limited to sapient species, or even to animals.

These deities do not expect to be worshipped, and they do not normally respond to unsolicited prayers. When interacting with the mortal world, they most commonly appear in the form of plants, animals, fungi, or puffs of fog. Occasionally they can appear in human form, or as colored blotches growing in a petri dish, but these manifestations are less common. Regardless of how they manifest themselves in the mortal world, they are fluent in all the languages of Earth. Not only human languages, but also animal languages such as birdsong or whalesong.

There are 16 kingdoms inhabited by different types of deities. The lacrosse team entering this tournament is from Animalia. All the players are gods of different hermit crab species. They will appear as unusually large hermit crabs, all of which can breathe air even if the mortal version of the species lives in water.

Lacrosse Live

Hello Bollonich, welcome to Lacrosse Live on this fine evening. This is your host, Tilda Raghnall along with renowned Lacrosse player Annika Wolodymyr. So Annika as you must be knowing the groups have been announced for the upcoming Lacrosse World Cup by the BPLA. What’s your take on the groups especially Group C the one Bollonich has been drawn into.
Well, this goes without saying but considering this is Bollonich’s first tournament it seems like Bollonich might’ve gotten off slightly easy here. However that is not to say that the Group isn’t difficult, it certainly is with the presence of Banija and even Cassadaigua. However the way I look at it Group B & D certainly seem to be the groups of death.
Along with the announcement of the groups, the match schedule was also announced and Bollonich shall be facing Sylestone on the first match day. Annika what do you think about the Sylestone team?
The Sylestone team is certainly a really good team and they are ranked 12th so it will be interesting to see what our boys can do against them. But what surprises me the most is that they haven’t announced their roster yet so details on their team is still shady, but let’s see when they announce it.
Okay that will be all from today’s edition of LacrosseLive. Join us on 30th at LTVSport for the live telecast of Bollonich’s first match. Also keep your eyes peeled for Lacrosse Today articles which will be covering the group stage draw and schedule of matches in great detail. And will also bring you the reactions to them from all over the world.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL LACROSSE TEAM

This will be Abanhfleft's fourteenth time participating in the World Lacrosse Championship. Fourteen times Abanhfleft has taken part in the WLC, and in six of those times they have emerged as champions. For reasons that can be simply summed up as "it's the best thing we've done in a while," the Democratic Republic sent forth their women's national lacrosse team for their first seven appearances in the competition. The women's team, led by the "Fearsome Threesome" of Menan Alrisheb, Fatima Alsambis, and Cecilia Cuvimi, managed to win third place in their first ever tournament WLC XIX, beating the Serbian Empire to nab the bronze from under the veteran nation's noses. They went on to win back-to-back titles in WLC 22 and WLC 23 before a miserable performance in WLC 24 saw them eliminated in the group stage, but they have come back to win it all once again in WLC 25 to set history as the first nation to win three titles in four attempts. It was then decided that it was time to switch things up, and so for the first time in WLC history, Abanhfleft sent forth a mixed team of men and women to play international lacrosse in WLC 30. And they came close, but were still unable to snag the ultimate prize, losing to the eventual winners Wrexwic in the final. Eventually, finally, Abanhfleft did pick up another title on home soil in WLC 32; unfortunately they were unable to defend it in WLC 33, and were only able to collect the bronze in Jeckland. Victory was achieved yet again in WLC 35, and the objective of becoming a six-time lacrosse champion was achieved immediately afterwards, in WLC 36. Now it's time to see if six can turn into seven in WLC 37.

The history of lacrosse in Abanhfleft is both long and short, in that it has been in the country for a long time, but a concise summary of said history can be written down in just ten to fifteen sentences or maybe more. Lacross was introduced in Abanhfleft by vacationing Canadian college students and expatriates who missed playing the game. The first truly Fleftic lacrosse players came from association football and field hockey backgrounds, and these players played in seasonal lacrosse clubs to augment their salaries during their respective sports' offseasons. The first national lacrosse league in Abanhfleft was established in 1929, and was composed of 7 teams coming from the Capital Islands. The Fleftic national lacrosse league system adopted its current franchise format in 2001, with the National League (now called the Lacrosse League of Abanhfleft) separating itself from the pyramid and becoming an independent organization of its own right. The Fleftic Lacrosse Federation (Samahang Lakros ng Abanhfleft or SLA) was established in 1930 to manage the leagues, and to see to the creation of a national team. The Abanhfleft men's national lacrosse team played its first game in 1931, where they lost 1-0 to a team of Montreal college players.

1963 saw the first attempts to introduce women's lacrosse into Abanhfleft. Women's lacrosse had vastly different rules from men's lacrosse, and while these programs saw some success in the mid-sixties, Fleftic women decided that the rules of women's lacrosse were "too soft," and simply adopted the rules of men's lacrosse. When the women's national lacrosse team played its first games in 1969, they surprised many other teams with their extremely aggressive style of play, the likes of which were more usually seen in men's lacrosse games. This led to many incidents of broken legs, broken arms, broken ribs, broken jaws, and so on and so forth. Eventually, the SLA established another women's team, this one focusing on women's lacrosse rules. Teams playing Abanhfleft are well-advised to treat the women like men because the girls will certainly treat their opponents like Fleftic men.

They have won six World Lacrosse Championships, winning in WLC 22, 23, 25, 32, 35 and 36. Starting in WLC 26, the team entered a rebuilding stage in which it maintained its ranking in the multiverse as much as possible without really challenging for the title. But in WLC 30, the SLA declared the rebuilding done, and the national team backed up this announcement with a deep playoff run that went all the way to the final, where they were unfortunately stopped by Wrexwic. Abanhfleft fell in the Round of 12 against hosts Baker Park in WLC 31, but the Amazons would come out on top of the lacrosse world once again after winning the championship on their home soil in WLC 32. Fortunes have been up and down in more recent times though; while the team crashed out of the quarterfinals in WLC 33, they were able to collect a third place finish in WLC 34. The team plowed through the tough schedule created by the Casaran format in WLC 35, proving the adage that "you can only beat the teams in front of you" true. One of those teams would be Vangaziland, a fellow serial winner in the competition, and in a final sure to go down as a classic, Abanhfleft emerged as 9-6 winners to lift their record-equaling fifth title. In WLC 36, the objective was to break the record and snatch it from Sarzonia, who were also planning to do the same. The Amazons defeated the Stars in the quarterfinals of WLC 36, and the team beat such giants as Banija and Cassadaigua to lift the World Lacrosse Championship for the sixth time. Now, the mission is simple: seven in 37.

Additional information
Nickname: The Amazons
Colors: All white with blue, orange, and green stripes on the waistline and yellow numbers in a red circle (home kit); all red with yellow letters and numbers (away kit)
Style: Abanhfleft is an attacking team. The legacy of football and hockey players dabbling in lacrosse in its early days in Abanhfleft has resulted in a playing style that emphasizes getting the ball up front for chances to score. This, however, leaves the defense a bit thin, as at least two midfielders join the attackers in forays up to the goal, leaving behind only the defenders and the keeper. The midfield makes up for this by rushing back to their positions as soon as the opponents have acquired the ball.

Lacrosse Today

Today we shall be discussing the Group Stage draw and the match schedule. Firstly the group stage will definitely be difficult to go through for Bollonich, with the presence of Banija, Cassadaigua and Sylestone. These highly seeded nations will provide competition for Bollonich, and make qualification difficult but all hope shouldn't be lost. Banija the only other country than Bollonich to have posted a roster is seeded 2nd. Their team shall be managed by Allen Budaye. They were the team that finished in the third place position in the last World Cup. The Groups are:-

Also based on their recent announcements, Bollonich's match schedule has been determined which is:-
Matchday 1 - Bollonich vs Sylestone (12)
Matchday 2 - Bollonich vs Sannyamathland
Matchday 3 - Bollonich vs Northwest Kalactin (25)
Matchday 4 - Bollonich vs Cassadaigua (7)
Matchday 5 - Bollonich vs Banija (2)

There were a number of reactions on social media following the group stage draw which were interesting to say the least with people from the famous Women's Lacrosse player, Annika Wolodymyr to common people to even extremists like "The Bolloniscian Guy" reacting to this news.
Some of the reactions were :-

Annika who joined us on Lacrosse live earlier today expressed her optimism towards the Bollonischian Team and this coming from a former great must give them confidence.

SYLESTONE NATIONAL LACROSSE TEAM

The Sylestone National Lacrosse Team was formed before the 34th edition of the World Lacrosse Championships and have come a long, long way since. For the first three editions, the side was under the captaincy of the appropriately named Will Lax, but after being captain of a home cup in WLC 36, has chosen to retire at the ripe old age of 35. After much consideration, young Brianna King has been elected to take over, being only 23 but having participated since WLC 34, when she was still only 17.
After being knocked out last championships in the round of 16 in front of a home crowd, can she lead the Sylestoneans to a victory?

THE SOPHIA REGISTER

Intelligent News For Intelligent Life

Latest stories:

Animalia to Compete in Earthly Lacrosse Tournament for First Time Since 1772

There was a time, not so long ago in the grand scheme of things, when it was normal for the gods of Animalia to visit Earth and play lacrosse with the mortal men who lived on the prairies -- but then things changed. Christians began to disrupt the games, killing our human opponents, imposing monotheistic dogmas on them at gunpoint, and inciting conflicts with Bamfordvirae. By the late 18th century, it was clear that the games were no longer viable and we were no longer welcome in human society. Even our closest human friends turned us away when they learned we were allied with Bamford.

To be fair to our mortal friends, they had good reason to be fearful after the heavy casualties Bamford inflicted.

However, now that these conflicts have subsided, some believe it is time for us to return to Earth and restore contact with mankind. A group of brave hermit crabs have taken up this mission and assembled a team to compete in the 37th World Lacrosse Championship. This will be the first time in 249 years that a lacrosse team from Animalia has taken the field against human opponents. The crabs say they are looking forward to the tournament, and they hope it will begin a new era of friendship between the animal kingdom and mankind.

The hermit crabs' first game will be played against Delaclava at Riverside City Stadium. Live TV coverage starts at 5 PM on tRNA Sports.

Garden City Makes New Demands in Waste Disposal Talks

Negotiations to renew the waste disposal contract between Animalia and Plantae have stalled once again as the plant kingdom demands stricter measures to separate organic material from foreign substances such as plastic and wet wipes. "Animalia already has contracts with Fungi and Bacteria to dispose of those items. There is no reason to send them to Plantae," said a spokestree for Garden City.

Animalian leaders remain confident that they will reach an agreement before the existing contract expires.

Opinion: Stop Bailing Out Fiscally Irresponsible Virian Kingdoms
The opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not reflect the views of the Sophia Register.

The financial crisis in Orthornavirae is just the latest proof of something that's been obvious for at least 4 billion years: Viral gods are not smart enough to run their own kingdoms, and our financial system should not be connected with theirs.

It doesn't matter how many uberwoke polyadenylated opinion pieces they write saying it's bigoted. There is a reason why the viral kingdoms have been primitive shitholes for billions of years no matter how much we try to develop them, and there's a reason why they've never created a mortal species that had any complexity or any value to the ecosystem. The viral gods just don't have the brains or the work ethic to create anything useful. They are social parasites, and it's time we stopped wasting our time trying to help them. Let them live with the consequences of their own stupidity.

Let's go back to having separate currencies, and then Orthornavirae can crash their economy as often as they want without ruining things for the rest of us.

Lacrosse Today

So the Bollonischian Lacrosse Team have announced their 15 men squad for the first match day against Sylestone. The shocking move is that this line up doesn’t feature our starting Goalkeeper Salvador Tritten. The official squad is as follows:-

Image

This shocking move is reportedly to be since Tritten was in violation of the code of conduct set by The Bollonischian Federation of Sports which is the organisation that oversees the functioning of all other sports bodies and it’s players. The rule said to be violated states that no player is supposed to consume any recreational drug while actively taking part in a tournament. This incident has shaken up the state of Bollonischian Lacrosse, and it will be interesting to see whether this incident is just a rumour or actual fact. If it is proven to be true Tritten’s faith could as bad as missing the entire competition which is yet to start. Hopes will be that such an incident never occurred and for Tritten be part of the team.
Some of the notable reactions on social media are:-

Lacrosse Live

Hello Bollonich, Welcome back to Lacrosse Live and I am your host Tilda Raghnall joined with two esteemed members of the Bollonischian National Lacrosse Team, Ottó Horn and Corvinian Gervasio. Hello Ottó, Corvinian Welcome to the show.
C: Very good to be here indeed.
T: So as you know we have got 5 fan questions lined up for both of you but before we delve into those let’s discuss your feelings before such a big tournament that is the Lacrosse World Cup
O: Well we have been part of region-wide tournaments for some time but never imagined we would be playing Lacrosse at such a high level. It is my pride to be leading Bollonich on such a high level and we hope that we can give it our best.
C: Well Ottó said it all, but I mean before the game tomorrow honestly I am feeling slightly nervous, but that is good I guess and it is always a proud moment representing Bollonich.
T: What are your views on the group draw and facing Sylestone on MD1?
C: Well we have gotten a pretty hard group but nevertheless we shall be giving it our all, and it would be huge learning opportunity, learning from teams like Banija, Cassadaigua and even Sylestone.
O: Sylestone vs Us will honestly be an extremely interesting encounter, they re seeded 12th but I don’t think that will affect the result too much as we have a young team who are capable of anything but let’s wait and watch
T: Having discussed and analysed, the upcoming fixtures and group draws we’ll be moving onto the fan questions. So the first question for Corvinian from Margit Lumbomíra. The question is What qualities makes Ottó a good captain?
C: Well the main quality of his that makes him an ideal captain is his calmness in tense situations, I was direct witness of this in our Regional Cup final where we were trailing however he kept his cool. Another important factor is he can actually come down hard at us the players which was also witnessed in the same final where during the half time break his words and pep talk greatly inspired us and we finally won the game. He can keep the team calm during tough situations which is his greatest quality.
O: Your flattering skills have certainly improved, not sure about your Lacrosse skills though.
T: Ha nice one, so the next question is from Saima Samson, she asks What do you do to calm your butterflies while you compete?
O: Well I don’t really think about the score too much and focus solely on the game which helps and I am by nature a calm person.
C: Well I don’t need to keep myself calm Ottó does it for us all.
T: Gentlemen so on this topic of team-mates what’s your reaction the possible consumptions of Marijuana by your teammate Tritten
O: He had been training with us, and we haven’t seen anything like this, however the day these reports started coming actually didn’t have a training session, and Tritten was the only one who was staying alone in his room. No one really knew what was going on near his room as all our rooms were bigger since two people were saying. We aren’t really sure where the cannabis came from but we completely support our dear friend and teammate in such hard times.
T: So let’s move on to another fan question, this time from Suha Leon, he asks What motivates you most about your profession as an athlete?
C: Well it’s mainly our passion for the game, when we are out on the field it doesn’t feel like we are working it’s basically us just having fun and giving it our all.
O: I mean Corvinian is completely correct here, what bigger motivator could there be then love?
T: Another fan has asked Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a great athlete?
C: Ottó gonna say is cool for sure, but I would say it is my ability to use my anger, rage and frustration towards the sport. I don’t try to be calm but I also don’t lose my mind which is important. It is important to keep one’s self under check all the time while competing. And competitiveness is a necessity.
O: He answered for me, this is not fair!
T: Ha so we shall be moving on to the last questions of the day from Morgan Aaron, she asks If you could play another sport what would that be?
O: Certainly Rugby, it seems exciting quite physical and fun honestly and I see myself fitting in pretty well.
C: I’d go for something similar to Lacrosse to be fair so I would choose Hockey.
T: Well it’s been a pleasure to have you both on Lacrosse Live and we hope you have a good tournament ahead.

The BBL also issued another tweet bringing the Tritten rumours to an end. They state that the charges to have been imagined were correct but he was falsely accused which would be a relief to The Bandits' fans. They also confirm that he shall be back into the squad from the next match day.

Kohnhead National Lacrosse Team

Info: Kohnhead will be sending a team to the World Lacrosse Championships for the fourth time in history, and expectations are to compete once again after making it to the Round of 16 for the second time in Syletoneacrosse is safe to say not a very popular sport in Kohnhead. Gridiron, football, tennis, and volleyball are the main sports in Kohnhead. The team is a former college all star team and now will continue to develop these players as part of the National Team going forward. Kohnhead went 4-2 in the Group Stage to reach the round of 16 in Jeckland first time before an overtime loss to the eventual champs but did not do well in the casaran system which took place in Northwest Kalactin finishing at 2-3. We rebounded slightly in Sylestone going 3-3 to reach the Round of 16 but lost 8-2 against Baker Park the hosts of this WLC.

Your Face Looks Familiar
HUElavia Enters WLC 37 as Tournament Favorites facing familiar foes.

HUElavia participates in another World Lacrosse Championship, looking to make another deep run in the tournament. After making it to 3rd Place in WLC 36, the team has been changed, with new young players in the roster, with essentially the WLC 34 winners having retired from the team. Regardless, the team is one of the very best in Lacrosse, being #3 in the Rankings.

HUElavia (3) was placed in Group D with the likes of Sarzonia (5), Xabia (UR), United States of Devonta (46), Quebec & Shingoryeo (26), and Qasden (19). Some these nations have faced Los Amarillos/Os Amarelos in some way or form in either Lacrosse or in other sports, meaning this is no unfamiliar opponents for the team. Surely, the HUElavia-Sarzonia match is the most enticing match out of the Group Stage entirely, due to them placing close to each other in the rankings and the growing rivalry between the two nations in sports. Not to mention, the growing frequency of meeting up against an ally in Quebec & Shingoryeo is another growing rivalry in the Sports Multiverse.

Fans will be flocking to the stadiums to cheer on the team, where they look forward to singing the national anthem and celebrating goals with passion. The team trains with pleasure, studying film diligently, and just taking in the atmosphere in Baker Park. Here's to hoping what can be a very fun and entertaining tournament.
