Ibica is on the brink of a coup or civil war. A fringe group of ultra-conservatives are planning to overthrow the government from within. The President's State of the Union address is coming soon in December, and will be attended by much of the government. This group "The Fathers of the Republic" as they refer to themselves, intends to stage a false flag attack during this speech, with the groups members being conveniently absent. This group is led by the current Vice President and consists of several state governors, federal agency and department heads, military leaders, and a few legislators.

They all believe Ibica has taken a dark path too far into liberalism, that women have too much power (especially with a woman currently being President), and that democratic ideas have "perverted" the republican ideals that Ibica should follow. They intend to bar women from the government, and mothers from the workplace. They also intend to "Temporarily" postpone upcoming elections and impose marshal law to safeguard the nation from further attacks.

Many members of the group lead some of Ibica's intelligence agencies and will be trying to hide the groups tracks, and trying to plant evidence blaming other groups. The new government would likely take military action, as a way to garner internal support. Outside intelligence agencies might also intercept these plans and, either try to assist the coup, and alert the honest elements of the government, whichever helps them politically. If any foreign dignitaries happened to be in attendance of the sabotaged speech would also feel compelled to be involved. But, other nations intercepting plans would likely forward that information to Ibica's intelligence agencies, but many of the agents and leaders within the security apparatus are themselves involved and would try to suppress the information.

There are many people in the country and government that would resist the new government, and would seek support from other nations to restore the rightful government.

Gordano and Lysandus would love to take part in the The Lies Within storyline. As a Western liberal democratic nation, it's reasonable to assume that they will side with the Ibican people against the conspirator government, once everything comes out of the woodwork. Keenly, the Gordanian-Lysandian Royal Federal Intelligence Executive (RFIE), keeps an eye on many major nations, wanting to be aware of any trouble which may arise and create new problems on the world stage. The establishment of an authoritarian regime in a country like Ibica would qualify as such a new problem.
