How did you get into NS?

A friend of mine in school told me about a site where I'd be able to live out my Civil War fantasies or just generally do whatever I wanted with a nation.
He sent me the link on Discord after school, and voila, I made a neo-Confederacy centered around Louisiana, not to be confused with this one.
This was about 8 months ago, but I took a break due to some personal issues and made a new country, which is this one.

My sister made this nation like forever ago, how she found NS...I don't even know. She got bored and I just took over the nation.
My geography factbook was actually written by her when she created the nation
I can hardly believe it been here since 2014, I remember seeing all the old nations and being like "wow, thats soooo old"

Almost 6 years or so ago, on a forum like this for a more traditional RP site literally called TheRPSite (which I think had closed a few years ago), someone advertised the channel to me and I had decided to actually make a small nation based on an OC of mine, The Specter. He's actually never appeared in any of the RP's... but now, I've had various alternate accounts for different fictional empires (The Diamond Authority of Steven Universe, Alternia from Homestuck, Zeon from Gundam, and my two most favorite, Remnant from RWBY, which is a dead account though I still am working to revive it), and now a more grounded nation on earth, Osteuropa: what if the Warsaw Pact held on its own?

I was looking up searches like "how to run a country" when I was bored whilst doing homework, and then NationStates popped up. I also thought it would be funny to act like a 12 year old which obviously backfired.

I stopped playing around December 2019 until the Drewpocolypse happened which was a fresh reminder that my nation CTE'd.

I actually found NS through a class project my history class had! We had to do some factbooks to turn in a such. Honestly surprised that I even stuck around this long too. Obviously my class nation is long gone and I've been quite spotty with my activity in NS lately, but I eventually come back.

It's wild looking back at when I started this new acc and realize 5 years already flew past. Crazy how that happens.

I was just searching on some things and bumped up to here. I didn’t knew what it was but I tapped on the website anyway. It lead me to a list of questions that you need to answer to create a nation. Then I went to the second page and did some stuff but when I was at the password section I just exited it out. Then came the video Drew made. At this time I was starting to watch Drew’s HOI4 videos just for entertainment and some were even one of my favorites. I watched the video and well it was the website I bumped into a few weeks (probably more than 2 months) ago. I didn’t think much of it and didn’t get any references as I didn’t remember what that website was.

Around September I for some reason remembered the website I was in. I searched pretty much everywhere to find it but after a few minutes of searching, I finally found it and this time I was going to make an account on it. I did the things, come up with a nation name which is Goraria, and set up a password. And here I am, an average person on the internet interacting with people I have never heard of in my life.

Starting in about 2017, I got into establishing my own political views, so I liked taking political tests for posting the results on political compass subreddits (cringe, I know), and constantly tried to find new ones to fill in. Then I stumbled across NS one day in late 2018 and everything went from there. Pretty straightforward, I'd say.

I really liked Rise Of Nations on roblox, so I just searched on Google "nation conquering game" and i found this. At first I was confused as there was no war option, but the community, the other features and the well made issues made me stay

I stayed here because a nation helped me get interested in the game by doing roleplay and I have been on this site for over a year now. Though I haven't really done any lore on my nation I really want to start it soon

I just saw a comment on a YouTube video, I remember there was a link and I was interested and so clicked it, made a nation and here we are

I was first getting into politics back in early 2013 and thought it would be neat if I could model my own country somewhere online to help figure out my own ideology. Searched "create your own nation", found NS, and subsequently joined. Captiotia was very different back then! This was also around the time when I was learning the International Phonetic Alphabet and I wanted to make new scripts/alphabets for English and maybe a conlang. I still haven't made one for Captiotia...

I got some classmates to create nations too, and we used them in little country roleplays when we were bored in class, but none of them were really into NS for more than a month.

I looked up “How to take over the world” and a chain of events and Google searches led to NationStates. I didn’t play much then, and eventually I quit. Then one night (September 15, 2020) I decided to playagain and Imperial Rifta was born. I really enjoyed the Worldbuilding aspect of the game, and warmongering against fantasy nations

Looked up something along the lines of "nation ruling simulator" and got here. Made a nation, then got busy with school, it cte'd, then I made Droiden. I fully remember thinking to myself "I'm gonna play this game the right way" and here I am.
