Name: Terrynn Balcyne [ Nickname: Calamis ]
Race: Human (???)
Gender: Male
Age: 46
Appearance:
Image

Magical Ability: Y/N
Magic Specialization: Calamis had always been skilled in the art of magics, ever since his teenage years going forward... In his line of previous work, the rule was quite simple indeed, either one knows how to handle the art of magic, or one's usefulness in the trade was almost none...
Either way, due to his work as a researcher and part-time healer, Calamis has knowledge of a few different magical schools, and these have only strengthened due to the incident he had suffered brought upon by the 'Rot'...

Magical Ability(s)
[ +++ ] Calamis has a great knowledge of magics which help to alter the state of the field, amplify or diminish effects of many different styles, and more to cause indirect havoc moreso than major, destructive magics...
[ ++ ] Calamis has learnt throughout his life, both before and after the 'Rot' on how to handle the common destructive forces of magic. Be it a sizzling hot fireball, a large streak of lightning or a storm of hail. The incident has only strengthened the magical properties of one's destructive magics.
[ N/A ] Usually, when not burdened by energies that wholly prevent the use of it, Calamis is an adept healer... Throughout his times before the incident, Terrynn Balcyne has known to cure many an ailment.
Unfortunately, in Calamis' state, and more importantly current uniform, to use the holy powers of light and healing is beyond him.

Skills: Terrynn Balcyne, and his trademark Lance (Which also acts as a magical amplifier for his spellcasting) go hand in hand... Literally as well as metaphorically... With the use of the weapon, Calamis can actively fight against and perhaps even triumph over even the most dangerous wild animal.
(Magical Skills are mentioned above)
Equipment:

Calamis' personal, trademark Lance and Magical Amplifier... He has been given to nicknaming it: (The) Twilight Lance

Image
Terrynn Balcyne's personal Dagger...

Weakness: Unfortunately, though Calamis has many an advantage, he also has a fair few disadvantages as well... Some of these drawbacks comes solely from the incident, though others have been his weakness from even before the 'Rot'...

Weaknesses:
[ - ] Whilst Terrynn Balcyne has actively trained with his signature lance for fighting, he finds himself quite weak indeed with any close combat fighting beyond the usable range of the aforementioned lance... He carries with himself a dagger (see above), but does not know many skills or tradecraft in how to use it in an effective manner, and thus he would be out in the open if forced to use it.
In addition, he has rarely, if at all fought an actual Sentient Race, with intelligence and tactics of their own. He may be quite easily outwitted in battle.
[ - - ] Calamis has always been somewhat antisocial... His role as researcher before the 'Rot' forced him to be so. The man is not completely against talking, or even in fact your typical introvert in any sense, but one would be hard pressed to get Terrynn Balcyne talking, yet alone revealing anything about himself.
On that note, the 'incident' has caused him to become even less of a talker, as the proposal of coming into talks may actively bring himself to danger of having his secret found out, one which he intends to keep for as long as possible.
[ - ] Calamis had found himself in the company of the Pathfinder Initiative because he sees it as an avenue of learning more on his current study... Terrynn Balycyne is strongly associated to his current task, and little will stop him from doing much else... In this way, he may have an issue of commitment to the Initiative, and if he sees a better opportunity to take for his studies, it would take a lot of considering to keep Calamis on track, and to the Pathfinder cause...

Background:
Calamis was never completely destined to be Terrynn Balycyne's personal nickname... Because for most of his life, mr Balycyne was a normal man, living a normal life within perhaps one of the most generic Kingdoms Aviea had ever seen... A completely uninspiring tale, that is if Voron Vamenor and the horror he had wrought upon the world hadn't changed that for the worse.

The Kingdom of Pronia was if anything, uninspiring... A Human dominated land on the edges of the Aviean world, there were never many visitors. The reason being was simple. Though Pronia was a nice enough place to live, perhaps even better than some of the other kingdoms and lands all over Aviea, it did little to distinguish itself from just another kingdom, a fate many a smaller realm shares with Pronia.
Pronia's lands were made of green plains and small, rolling hills, with the occasional forest and one single, small desert region. In Pronia, you would have been hard pressed to even find any elevation past 1,000 metres above the seas and oceans.
Civilisation dotted the Pronian lands. Golden, brown and orange farms and orchards broke up the green monotony of the lands as the common man and woman made their living tilling and harvesting the breadbasket of Pronia, making a meager gain in order to feed themselves and their families. There was only a few townships, a few more dotted villages and only one true city, that being the capital...

The capital city is where Terrynn Balycyne had spent most of his life, from birth up until the incident which finally drove the researcher from his disease - ridden home in search of what there was that was left... Balycyne was born to a well off family, who had been a part of the city council of Pronia's capital, with the father, Ackerley Balycyne even in the personal court of the King, as an advisor. As such, Calamis was never destined to a life of farming, or monotony as much as dedicated schooling, and a spoilt, protected upbringing... The young boy, and eventually even man rarely if ever got to leave the safety of the walls of Pronia's capital city, due to the parent's will for him to 'Never face the potential to be in serious danger'...
Instead of Politics, like his Father had gone down the road of, Terrynn found his calling as a researcher, and scribe. For where Calamis failed in the understanding of managing a Kingdom, or even a simple village, or perhaps in economics, the man found his successes in technological aptitude, in concepts of philosophy and religion.

Balycyne has always had a connection to the Gods up above, in the heavens... He used to revere the spirits and what they had done, and what they continued to do for the world. Now, he feels disconnected to the Aether, and the inhabitants of it, due to his incident that will be mentioned in time and in addition the Gods uncaring and inaction towards the awful 'Rot'. In many a way, he not only blames himself for being unable to come to a solution to the nasty disease, but also the spirits above for doing nothing to stop it from ravaging Aviea.

Back to the story... Terrynn had soon been discovered by an esteemed institute of like minded researchers, philosophers and the like, under the command of the Pronian king himself, called the Royal discovery and advancement Society. Once having completed his studies, Calamis was quickly offered a place with them, and the man did not waste the opportunity.
With the Royal discovery and advancement Society, Terrynn Balycyne had gone onto hone his crafts, learning the art of magic with some of the best court mages of the kingdom, analysis, research and even a small amount of alchemy and enchanting ability. His employ with the Society would also be when Balycyne was offered his time to adventure beyond the walls of the capital city, and go onto study and take in the rather dry, yet surprisingly deep landscapes, including caves, deep forests, marshes and the like of Pronia.
He found surprising ability not only with the forces of magic, but in the use of a pike, spear or Lance... He was often witnessed using his two-handed Magical Amplifier to thrust at, and stab at unfriendly wildlife, even once fending off a roaming bull with his 'Lance' with just the tactic itself. In recognition of his talents, the Society eventually provided him with a custom forged Lance/Magical Amplifier hybrid, forged for him personally... It is the same weapon he uses to this day.

It was during the Vigil's war with Voron Vamenor that many an artifact of Demonic origin found it's way to the Kingdom, and eventually into the hands of the Society for study...
One of the most impressive finds was given to a now 45 year old, expert researcher Terrynn Balycyne for study... A full - plate, golden armour set, ingrained with some of the most powerful Demonic energies within. It is still unknown to Balycyne where the armour set was even found, even now as he wears it for his own safety...
It was during Terrynn's study of the Demonic armour when Voron Vamenor was defeated, and unleashed upon the world the world-ending disease known as the 'Rot'... With it's blotchy, purple and sickly wrath left behind a completely dead wasteland... And it was quickly heading for the Pronia. By this time, Calamis had been able to suppress some of the demonic energy from the armour in his personal quarters, enough for him to sleep at night without waking up sometime later with horrible nightmares of the underworld itself... However, it still had the power to completely repel any holy magic or influence from it.

Finally, the 'Rot' hit Pronia, and it was very brutal... As it ransacked country towns, farms and villages as it inched closer and closer to the Capital, the Royal discovery and advancement Society scrambled to attempt to figure out a solution, a cure to 'Rot'... At the head of this issue was Calamis himself, who lead the researchers into doing whatever they could to stop the inevitable end of Pronia.
It was truly hopeless... As the 'Rot', without nothing being able to stop it penetrated the stone walls of the Capital City, the people started dying horrific deaths left and right.
And it soon even started to infect the secluded society... Researchers, scientists, philosophers and priests began dying excruciating deaths in their beds, and Terrynn had watched it all. Instead of being turned off from his work, developing into a nasty depression, Balycyne had vowed that for as long as he was still on the mortal plane, he would do everything in his power to defeat the 'Rot'...

Even then, he was bedridden for many a day, whilst fellow men and women dropped around him like flies... It was eventually when Calamis had mustered up the physical, and mental strength to get up and do something that he sprung to action. Disembarking from his bed, and his previous life, he entered the demonic armour set, grabbed his Lance and began walking...

He had good reason to be wearing the demonic armour instead of his own... It is quite lucky, in fact that other people have not realised that too, and distinguished the truth by now either...

For weeks, he marched across the disease - ridden lands of Aviea, non stop... He barely even ever stopped for respite.
He had walked a distance her perhaps had never done in his entire life, passing by dead kingdoms and civilisations as he went, searching for the last bastions of life, if there was anything at all. And eventually, he would've found it, in the Coalition base, on the edges of Aviea, only a matter of time before the 'Rot' would spread to it too.
He would be determined to fulfill his mission, in whatever way that would be. And when Calamis had heard of the Pathfinder initiative, he saw his opportunity. Too afraid to let his secret be revealed through potential conversation. Calamis drafted, and eventually sent a letter to the initiative, asking for entry as a member... He metaphorically poured his soul into the letter, listing almost everything positive about him, what he had done, who he was, and what he could very well do. He had explained that he made a vow to defeat the 'Rot', and that he would not stop in pursuing it...

Luckily, it seemed that the Pathfinders... It seemed that Kaltidir Zornaar himself, the leader appreciated the skills and dedication Calamis had promised. The man became a Pathfinder, and personally watched from within his helmet when the Portal was breached, and the mystical energies allowed entry into a pure world, to Ehiri...
Now, as the Base Camp was established on the other side, and the Pathfinders prepare for their expeditions into the unknown, the mysterious spirit of Calamis will join them. For perhaps answers to solving the 'Rot' problem could be found within a new world and it's offerings... And when the cure is finally found for the disease ravaging Aviea... Terrynn Balcyne can allow himself to pass away in peace...

Likes: Philosophy, Commitment to one's task, selflessness, religious apathy, bravery and courage, the sciences, magic
Dislikes: Religious zealotry, needless bloodshed, pacifism, politics, ignorance, over-curiosity from others, the Aether realm
Personality: Terrynn Balcyne may seem like the most antisocial person one can meet in the world... He actively tries his best to avoid conversation whenever possible, and when he does eventually have to talk, one would not get much more than the most basic answers from him... However, the complete antisocial behavior is not completely like himself, moreso for protection against his secret potentially being revealed, especially too early on... If it wasn't for his current situation, he would engage not so much in trivial conversation, but would be more than happy to converse in apolitical debate, such as on the topics of sciences, religion and much more indeed.

Calamis is extremely dedicated to his personal mission, moreso than his role as Pathfinder, as mentioned before. He would not tolerate people attempting to stop him in his pursuit, even if unintentionally.
Also, he is currently an insomniac, awake both during the day and night hours... Perhaps some might hear the clunking of his heavy, metal boots against pavement or solid soil during the night hours, and that can prove to be about as unsettling as his demonic armour is in addition.
Family: Ackerley Balcyne (Father) (Status: Unknown) Alycia Balcyne (Mother) (Status: Unknown)
Motivation for Joining: To use the Pathfinder Initiative and their goals, resources etc. to further the progress in his own, personal mission.

Alright, so I went with a bit more of an unorthodox approach with these characters and the way they'll interact with the world. I tried my best to stay as accurate to the established lore as possible, but if I need to change anything to make it fit into the lore more cohesively, please let me know. Alternatively, if this doesn't really fit with the world/story you had in mind, I completely understand.
Name: Pascal
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: Early 30's
Appearance: The human equivalent of a stickbug; lanky and almost invisible. He has dark, shoulder length hair and light stubble. He's got unnaturally long fingers, and he almost always wears gloves.
Magical Ability: Y/N
Magic Specialization: No
Skills:
•Survivalist skills: Foraging, tracking, hunting, trapmaking, strong sense of direction
•Archery
•Notably agile, a lot faster than he looks
Equipment:
•Leather armor
•Longbow
•Quiver (+ arrows)
•Knife
•Leather backpack
•20 yards of rope
Weakness:
•Although he's a skilled archer and survivalist, he's less than skilled when it comes to close-quarters combat (especially if unarmed).
•He doesn't handle the sight of blood very well, especially his own. He prefers to keep a distance from a fight, offering support where he can.
•Being bound to Pascal, his senses and situational awareness are limited.
Background:
Pascal grew up on a small farm surrounded by untamed wilderness. Because he wasn't much help when it came to farm work, he was often sent out into the woods in search of food. He would spend days at a time away from home, honing his skills in the process. Even though he struggled with the sight of blood, he would still go through with the hunt on behalf of his family.

Even before the Rot began claiming the continent, Pascal's home was frought with disarray. Droughts, freezes, and crop failures plagued his family, as more and more bandits began siezing local homes and settlements. Out of necessity, he turned to mercenary work, often working with teams due to his shortcomings. Despite his flaws, he developed a reputation as someone who could get things done, which led him to be hired for an unusual expedition.

The group was aiming to locate a supposedly divine artifact hidden in a deep cave in hopes it could combat the Rot. Unfortunately, the scholars and mercenaries perished in the caves, except for one, who successfully located the artifact. Upon examining the artifact, he discovered that it was a vessel which contained the essence of an almost forgotten god that, upon touching the artifact, binded its remaining essence to him.

Now stuck with a divine voice in his head, Pascal searches for a way to separate himself from the god. And what better place to look for an answer than through a mysterious glowing portal?

TL;DR: Mercenary outdoorsman gets stuck to a god.

Optional Info
Likes: Animals (especially birds), wilderness, solitude
Dislikes: Envion (the deity), fire, loudness, crowds
Personality: He's an observant, soft spoken guy just making his way through the world. While mercenary work has hardened him, he still has a heart.
Family: Parents, a younger sister (late 20s)
Motivation for Joining: There'e multiple reasons, but it basically boils down to:
•All his old bosses are probably dead, and this is one of the only jobs still around where he can effevtively utilize his skills
•This is the best chance he has at finding a way to get that deity out of his head
•Helping people is pretty cool, I guess

Name: Envion, God of Fortune
Race: Unknown
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown (presumably very old)
Appearance: Currently, none. He doesn't yet have the ability to manifest himself.
Magical Ability: Y/N
Magic Specialization: In his current state, the only magic he can reliably perform is lesser miracles: divine acts that aren't completely earth shattering, but still helpful. A fresh water spring, a spontaneous fruit tree, that sort of thing. In a better state, he'd be skilled with using illusion magic.
Skills:
•He has a natural charisma , armed with a silver tongue and confident aura that many consider to be appealing.
•Being a god of fortune, he has an unusual amount of good luck (with some exceptions)
•He displays a considerable amount of knowledge regarding magic, deities, and the "finer things" (wine, gems, other luxuries)
Equipment: N/A
Weakness:
•Despite his age, he can be fairly short-sighted at times, pursuing instant gratification and ignoring potential consequences.
•His overconfidence ends up getting him into scenarios that not even his silver tongue can get him out of.
Background:(Two paragraphs min)
Back in Aviea, the gods of resided in the heavens, looking down upon their subjects and keeping their distance from the mortals they governed. They rarely got involved in the day to day lives of mortals, with only a fee exceptions. Always an unconventional god, Envion attended his heavenly duties with a hands-on approach and a playful attitude. Countless fables and myths revolved around the antics of the self-proclaimed God of Fortune as he graced the mortal world with his chaotic presence.

But one day, the stories stopped. Somewhere along the way, he found himself trapped in a cave, bound to an artifact and stripped of most of his divine power. That is, until Pascal happened to stumble upon the artifact containing him, binding their souls in the process. Freed from imprisonment and rescued from the encroaching Rot, he now sets out to a new world to once again grace the world with his presence, slowly but surely regaining hs divinity (and his freedom) in the process.

Optional Info
Likes: Personal freedom, magic, jokes, luxury items
Dislikes: Boredom, responsibility, feeling trapped, cheap things, insects
Personality: Playful and free-spirited, he's a charming guy with a devil-may-care attitude. He's more intelligent than he lets on, though he can be somewhat careless an distracted at times.
Family: The Gods (technically, though he's not close to them), and probably some illegitimate children here and there.
Motivation for Joining: Regain his former divine state, separate himself from his host.

New Ovesa wrote:Alright, so I went with a bit more of an unorthodox approach with these characters and the way they'll interact with the world.

It's been a long while, but I must ask if this RP is still on?
I would like to continue to partake and develop it, especially the one character that I have grown quite attached to, but I'd understand if this has fell dormant for a reason...

A response would be great... The Discord server seems to have just... Gone, for some odd reason, unless I'm mistaken.

Well, I think no since no one but you had posted in a month. I figured that the rp was dead since and after waiting after a month of silence on the discord. I deleted the discord server but, we can still talk on discord since you are my friend on discord so we can talk about it there.
