2021 Syrian Presidential Elections

Postby Dowaesk » Thu Apr 22, 2021 10:24 am

Syria is a nation that is in chaos. Ever since the uprising in 2010 against the Assad Regime and the rise of ISIS. Hundreds of thousands have died in this seemingly never ending conflict. The conflict has cooled down in the recent years. Although its scars still remain. Assad is still in power and the threat from Daesh still exists. Millions have been left displaced and homeless.

Assad has promised presidential election scheduled for 26 April 2021. A move likely to keep Assad in power. The last elections took place in 2014, which was largely dismissed as unfair and undemocratic. This election saw Assad win with 92% of the votes. And now we got this new election. Also expected to be unfair. Syria's future remains dark. 500,000 already dead, but more in queue.
Heres some reference links for those who are unfamiliar with the upcoming elections.

Now, no one knows what the future holds. Here I simply ask for personal views and predictions.

2-Is Assad a good leader. Can he learn from his mistakes and rebuild Syria?

Talking about Syria just gives me goosebumps. All the death and chaos. All those children. All those of whom lost their loved ones. All those who had lost their homes.
In my personal opinion Bashar Al-Assad is a terrible leader. Many more will die. Many more will suffer. It will take a coup. Or another civil war if they are to establish a "not-corrupt" government. Unless Assad does the sensible thing and step down or maybe have a fair election and step down while he's got his dignity.

Social democracy and parliamentarism must be brought to the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party.Neighboring countries should apologize to Syria. a zero problems policy should be initiated. All kinds of terrorist militants must be punished in international courts.

Q1 It will be corrupt and unfair.

Theres no need for apologies. Assad was at fault. It his clamping down in freedom of speech that led to this.
Neighbouring nations can simply begin negotiations without apologies. Apologies are unnecessary. If this is in fact the end of the war, then Assad must apologise to his nation and people and must try to rebuild. As for the Turkish Safe Zone in Syria. The territory should belong to Turkey until deals are made and its becomes safe to pull out from Syria.

1. No fair elections can take place.

2. No, he is a dictator who used chemical weapons on his own people and has no qualms about killing his own to stay in power. He is destined to rule over ruins, inflame the current situation, and basically be Russia's loyal dog for the rest of his life.

3. Conflict will continue, although it's now clear that Assad will remain in power.

4. Assad should be removed from power.

That will be very dangerous and will result in many more deaths. I myself, as much as I hate Assad, dont think its worth the fight. It is very likely that people will suffer under Assad, but they would suffer even more if they were to go through another conflict. I just cant bear the idea of more lives being destroyed. Hence, I, sad as it might be, support for peace and cooperation between Assad and the neighbouring nations.

tbh the time window for the removal of the Assad Regime is long over. if there was ever a chance it would have been prior to the russian intervention. that ship sailed long time ago.

Turkey should have invaded Syria after the 2012 phantom incident and subsequent clashes. Like full scale invasion and march up to Damascus. People would have greeted the TSK as liberators.

1. Another fake election in another fake democracy. Yay.

2. Assad is beyond redemption and has been beyond redemption since 2011. He's an absolute, mass-murdering, fucking monster. "Rebuild Syria". You mean like how the CCP intends to "rebuild Taiwan" once it seizes control?

Justice cannot be mentioned in an election where there is a candidate receiving 80% or more votes. just like the 1991 Nagorno-Karabakh so-called independence referendum.

Are you aware of refugees in Greece and Turkey? Political Islamists should apologize not only to the Syrian but also to the Turkish nation. The blood of the Turkish soldier is in the hands of political Islamists. Our war should have been with terrorism, not with Syria. The Syrian army and the Turkish army must pull the Syrian Turkmen Brigades to their side and fight a real fight against terrorism. You have made your side clear by asking the US government to be in Syria.

The Syrian army and the Turkish army must pull the Syrian Turkmen Brigades to their side and fight a real fight against terrorism. You have made your side clear by asking the US government to be in Syria.

You are saying that the Myanmar president's (now under house arrest) victory of over 80% wasn't actually real, it was faked?

Justice cannot be mentioned in an election where there is a candidate receiving 80% or more votes. just like the 1991 Nagorno-Karabakh so-called independence referendum.

Dowaesk wrote:What. No. Turkey and US are the nations that have progressed the most from among Assad's enemies. If they give in, what did their soldiers die for. Turkey must not pull out unless it has been reassured that the Turkish Safe Zone remains a Safe Zone and a free area for refugees and people who dont want extra problems. The US must also stay stationed in Syria until Syria stabilizes.
Are you aware of refugees in Greece and Turkey? Political Islamists should apologize not only to the Syrian but also to the Turkish nation. The blood of the Turkish soldier is in the hands of political Islamists. Our war should have been with terrorism, not with Syria. Why bow down to Assad when you can simply go ahead with negotiations without the extra drama. I myself am a strong supporter of Syrian Turkmen, but apologising? What for? And also Political Islamists is irrevelant here as of right now.
Refugees in Greece? There are refugees everywhere. Why did you have the feeling to mention that. We are talking about Turkey's participation here. No need to bring in Greece.
Dowaesk is a nation set in the year 2041 in the Indian Ocean. An alternative future where Laccadives, Suvadives and Chagos are independent. And these 3 countries along with the Maldives join together to form Dowaesk. Much like how the EU is made up.

I don't understand what he's got in for political Islamists. Turkey and ISIS are best of friends, and the rebels in Syria aren't Islamist, so he's not making sense if he means refugees from ISIS's and the FSA's actions.
