NationStates Tennis Tour clay court season 7 RP thread

This thread will be the thread where roleplays and results will be posted for the four clay court tournaments of the season. In order, these tournaments are:

Astello International (Tier 2) hosted in Astello, San Ortelio
Antillia Masters (Tier 1) hosted in Antillia, Costa de Ouro
Hamilton International (Tier 1) hosted in Hamilton, Electrum
Championnats Nationaux de Reçueçn de Tennis (Grand Slam) hosted in Beçonailles, Reçueçn

This post will contain general information about the timeline for the four tournaments, whereas the next four posts will contain specific information for each of the tournaments, including information about the host city and draws/schedules.

Scorination Details
All NSTT tournaments will be scorinated on xkoranate with advantage sets. Grand slam singles tournaments will be best of five sets. All other tournaments are best of three sets. The logarithm points will be used, so that the vast inequalities in total points don't mean predictable matches. To determine the seeding and points of doubles pairings, the average of the sum of the doubles players logarithmic rankings will be used. Draws for both the singles and doubles competition will follow the normal procedures undertaken by the ITF.

All roleplays are scored, with quality over quantity emphasized. Multiple roleplays submitted on the same day will be counted as one larger whole. All players without a ranking will have a skill level equal to the lowest main draw player's logarithmic points. For doubles pairs comprised of players from two different nations, the higher scoring roleplay from both nations will be applied to the mixed pair.

Where there are more entrants than available places, a knock-out qualification round is played.

At the conclusion of each tournament, rankings are updated to reflect the new points earned by players. These points last one year/season.

Benvenuti and welcome to San Ortelio, the smallest nation ever to host an NSTT tournament. The chairman of our national tennis organisation, SOTA President Flavio Lunghi is honoured to see the Marina Tennis Club, represented by its committee secretary Adelberto Di Renzo, act as the battleground for a new wave of young, fresh and promising tennis players for whom this trophy could be the step up to an illustrious career. Without further ado, they invite you all to the tournament, the city of Astello and the country of San Ortelio.

The tournament itself will mainly take place on the clay courts of the Marina Tennis Club. This is also the location of the most prestigious domestic tournament, the Astello Open. As San Ortelio is a small, Mediterranean country, there are few tennis clubs which harbor enough terrains to facilitate a genuine NSTT tournament. As such, some of the games will take place in the nearby Catrallo Ducal Tennis Grounds (better known by the locals as the Cadute Grounds).

The main facility, the MTC, has five courts. Central to the facilities, and right across the Players’ Home – a clothing facilities which also houses two indoor courts for warming-up, room for physiotherapists, … - one can find the Campo Primo Battuta, named after the founder of the MTC. Via temporary stands, the seated capacity of this terrain has been doubled to six thousand. About two thousand of those are seated under the roof – although this will mainly be to shade them from the sun rather than the rain. Littered a bit further down the hill on which the MTC is housed, one can find the remaining four courts. The Campo Rabottini and the Campo Velasco both have two-thousand seats. The two smaller ones, Campo Perini and Campo Rossi, both have a small stand for six-hundred people, but allow spectators to follow the game seated on a grass hill. Additionally, they can overlook the bay after which the Club is named.

A tournament pass is available for the spectators, which allow them to roam across all courts – its price being about one-hundred-forty lira. For fifty-five lira, one can buy a day pass for all days but the final two. Two-thousand seats of the Campo Primo Battuta are reserved for seat holders. These are specific tickets which assure you a seat at the main court – but do not allow you to visit the other fields. Prices depend upon the day, but those for the final are sold out already. Those who want to witness NSTT tennis for a more democratic price might find their way in the Cadute Tickets. These four grounds serve as a supplementary facility to ensure that all games can take place. Each has a small stand at one side, whilst allowing open access on the other side. For Astello and Catrallo residents, a day pass for those is sold at five lira, whilst others can visit for fifteen lira per day. Be aware that only games up until the Round of 32 are played at the Cadute Grounds.

The winner of the singles tournament takes home the ‘Trofeo Banco Fenice’, named after the title sponsor of the tournament. It represents a phoenix raising from the ashes, a reference to the restart taken by the financial institute after the crisis of the sixties. Large and shiny, it will definitely form a remarkable ornament in the living room of the victor. The triumphators of the doubles tournament each will take home something which looks an awful lot like a gold brick on a silver stick – the consequence of a building tycoon sponsoring their tournament.

Two business hotels in the city of Catrallo, the slightly presumptuously named Royal Inn and the Ferranti Hotel, act as main partner for the housing of the players and their key staff. Both are considered as good choices within their segment: stylish, modern without being remarkably luxurious. Neither are known for their warm atmosphere, but especially the Royal Inn has a large fitness area and bathing complex – the Ferranti is a bit more tight in space. They have reduced their prices for players, but staff will still pay the full amount.

This could inspire some to opt for the more homely alternative offered. A series of Astellan motels, B&Bs and guesthouses united themselves into a pool which open up for the international visitors, being it players, staff or fan. These accommodations might lack the perks of room service and an abundance of towels, but offer a warm welcome at a small price instead. Honored as the locals are to welcome the world to their town, one can be assured that a stay there will ensure that you pick up some of the couleur locale whilst being treated as royalty.

Arrival can be made via the Ortelio International Airport – it’s the only one in the country, so it is hard to miss it. Do not forget to exchange your currency to the local lira there – whilst some taxi drivers might accept other bills, most people will refuse or ask exuberant rates if it’s a familiar coinage. Shuttle busses will be provided to bring our tennis guests to the city center of Catrallo, the capital of the country. The city would be designated in a town in some countries, reaching only a hundred thousand inhabitants, but still has a bustling atmosphere with a fair bit of nightlife, a central avenue with international shopping and even a sense of crowdedness: next to its citizens, quite a few Ortelians work in the capital.

From Catrallo, the local network – read, an army of overeager taxi drivers – will take you to the MTC or Astello. Only about ten miles further into the bay which forms the center of our small country, Astello has served as the riviera for the sometimes busy and smothering capital. As such, it became the touristic hotspot and has the typically Ortelian mild winters and warm summers. According to the latest estimates, a characteristic April weather is anticipated: about twenty-five degrees with a mild breeze, enjoyable t-shirt weather. During the middle of the day, one can even hit the long beach which can be seen from the MTC. Astello itself has two faces. The quarters near the hillside are a bit rowdy and even impoverished – even if the authorities announced to come down hard on crime towards the international visitors, being pickpocketed whilst strolling into that part might happen. As such, it is best to stay by the seaside and on the long Esplanade with its characteristic pier. The Esplanade has everything for the holiday, whilst the first parallel street houses a few more exclusive restaurants, often serving the local cuisine: more intricate pasta and fresh fish. Definitely give the swordfish, a national icon, a try.

Some good to know elements when visiting San Ortelio and meeting its inhabitants:

* Whilst English is not the first language, all but a few veterans will be able to help you in this language, especially those in the touristic sector. Expect a heavy accent, thou.
* Social live centers around the Taverna, which is a coffee house, a pub and a snack bar all rolled into one. Each bar has its specific audience, often determined by the social strata, borough, political affiliation or even favorite football club. You might get some weary looks upon entrance but once determined as a well-meaning foreigner, you will be welcomed with an espresso. Talk to the guys at the bar at your own risk – you could be in for a long story!
* Do not be surprised if Ortelians stop you in the streets once they see you are a tennis player. Whilst they are not that knowledgeable about the international scene, they are curious to get to know you and will be friendly, even if their welcoming hug might come across intimidating at first. There is a decent chance they ask you out about your next game – it’s one part friendliness, one part betting addiction.
* Alcohol and cigarettes are sold throughout and easy to get by. Soft drugs such as marihuana are officially forbidden but the law is poorly enforced. Use and possession of hard drugs, however, usually leads to harsh punishment.
* Whilst the country and its inhabitants are catholic, the culture does not follow the stringent rules of the denomination. Only a part of the older citizens still frown upon same-sex relations and there are no issues with a bit of nudity - on the beach, of course, bathing clothing is expected elsewhere. However, the church visit is still thriving and many citizens drop by one of the many chapels daily. Feel free to burn a candle for the good fortune of your favorite player in the Astello International!

Cut-off times are anticipated to be around 15h Western European Time. Exception will be the weekend cut-off of 10 April which will be around 23h Western European Time. As a compensation, there is no scorination on the 11th.

In the 16th century, Portuguese-speaking explorers from Morroseta headed west across the Mar de Solidão looking for the fabled Seven Cities of Antillia. Although they found an archipelago with eight islands and golden shores, they did not find those fabled cities — but they decided to call both their principal settlement on the principal island and the island itself Antillia, after the myth they had unsuccessfully chased. They had founded Costa de Ouro, named after its fabulous golden beaches (that, alas, they could not use as currency back home on Morroseta).

Beyond the centrally located Antillia, other major cities in the kingdom include Nova Lisboa and Albergaria on the island of Santa Maria and the grimy industrial city of São Alberto, also on Antillia island. Politically, Costa de Ouro has retained the monarchy under the Aviz dynasty (with His Majesty Pedro III currently on the throne). The islands are unified with Morroseta, on the main Astyrian continent, in a confederation called the Avissian Union.

Antillia itself is a city of around 835,000 people with immense colonial charm, much in the Portuguese Manueline style common during the Age of Discovery. The King Pedro Tennis Club, close to the city center along the ritzy Avenida dos Aviz, will host the Antillia Masters. Despite having hosted this tournament for five times previously, the main stadium only has a capacity of around 7,500 spectators, with the two other show courts having capacities of around 4,000 spectators and other courts having space for around 500.

The tennis club is close to tourist attractions such as the Pálacio do Rei, home of Pedro III himself, who will make an appearance at the tournament's finals while officially presenting the singles and doubles trophies. However, the main airport (Sonhos International Airport) is located in an "aerotropolis" around 30 minutes by train from the main city in the center of the island. Beyond playing tennis, spectators and players could partake in the city's historic districts, take in a bit of sun at the country's namesake beaches (including the Igreja do Cristo beach, which makes for a nice day trip from Antillia), or scuba and snorkel in the equatorial waters just offshore. Visitors can also enjoy the cuisine at a variety of small cafes, some of which specialize in fish dishes such as moqueca costenha and pastries called pastéis

Players have the option of staying at the baroque Hotel Alameda, a ten-minute walk from the practice courts and grounds, or at one of the numerous and quaint pousadas that dot the city center. Both options are renowned for their hospitality, as befitting an extremely friendly people. Alternatively, if players desire more modern accommodation, they could stay at a townhouse or condo in the swanky postmodern Vila do Pôr-do-Sol, about a 30-minute drive south from the city center. Portuguese is the most common language, but travelers can get by in English, French, or Nikolian, common because of the tourist clientele that frequents Costa de Ouro. Whatever you do, do not try to address a costenho in Spanish. You'll just make yourself look like an idiot.

Hamilton International VII

The Electrum Lawn Tennis Association is proud to present the seventh edition of the Hamilton International. Formerly named the Electrum International, the tournament changed its name to highlight Hamilton, the hot and dusty city. After being temporarily upgraded to Grand Slam status last season, it has gone back to being a Tier 1 tournament after Beçonailles organisers successfully lobbied for their tournament to be upgraded to Grand Slam status.

About Electrum and Hamilton
Electrum is a sports-mad country. It loves its Olympics and its football, but the most important sport in Electrum is the tennis. Tennis in Electrum is administered by the all-powerful Electrum Lawn Tennis Association. Due to the stature of the ELTA, it exerts a high amount of influence in international tennis, especially in the NationStates Tennis Tour, where it captured the presidency after Ceni's withdrawal.

There are a few quirks when coming to Electrum. One of them is its digital currency, the Synergy, which is known for its ubiquity. Upon arrival, all people can gain access to the card based digital currency, but tourists often complain that these cards which are very easily stolen but also incredibly convenient to use. Electrum is also a relaxed country -- it has very socially libertarian laws such as the decriminalisation of all drugs. It's a place to let off some steam and to have some fun.

The event will be scheduled on the clay courts of the Hamilton Tennis Club, approximately two hours north of Centralis by plane. Hamilton's courts are known for their long rallies and hot temperatures, making it very taxing for players. Temperatures are regularly in the high twenties-high thirties Celsius, and on rare occasions, above 40. On such high heat days, the tournament's heat policy will go into effect, meaning that players on outside courts will be forced to stop mid-match until the temperature goes down to an acceptable level. Players on courts with roofs will temporarily have play suspended as the roofs close. It is an event that is known to push players to the limit.

Playing Conditions
The Hamilton Tennis Park, much like its southern counterpart, has three roofed arenas. These are in decreasing size: The Cauldron, and Court 2 and 3. These three roofed arenas actually make up a superstructure called The Tinderbox (please see stadium photos below). The roofed arenas are essential for the long, hot days in Hamilton. Outside courts are well attended. Fans watching play on these courts will be cooled down with industrial fans, water coolers and water jets to ensure that dehydration and extreme heat won't be too much of a factor. All players will have access to a ''coolbox" placed next to their chairs on all courts at all times. The "coolbox" is actually a refrigerator that contains ice, chilled drinks and towels and food. The coolbox also has an attachment to a moveable cooling tube which blasts cold air, so players can use the move the cooling tube around their body during breaks to cool off.

Accommodation and transportation to Electrum is provided for free with players flying to Centralis, and then going on a domestic two-hour flight to Hamilton. Players will stay at the Crown Hotel, Hamilton, a five star hotel-casino complex with all the trimmings that you can expect. Teams will be transported by a chauffeur daily in a private car to the Hamilton Tennis Park. Once the tournament is over, chauffeurs will bring you back to airport for exit, with winners going in special limousines.

History of Tennis in Electrum and Hamilton
The Electrum Lawn Tennis Association has hosted tournaments for the NSTT from the very beginning. These have included the Electrum Slam, the International Team Trophy, the Terranean Slam in Somer and of course, the Hamilton International. In recent years, there have been changes to the tournaments that the ELTA hosts. The Hamilton International tournament was voluntarily downgraded from the Grand Slam to the Tier 1 level, while Somer, after losing the Terranean Slam event, has been given the rights to host the International Team Trophy.

After recent complaints about the heat stress faced by players in Hamilton, Hamilton International organisers have lobbied the government to upgrade the facilities of the Hamilton Tennis Park. Ever since last year, new innovations such as the coolboxes and the newly built Tinderbox have increased both player and audience comfort.

Beçonailles is a picturesque Reçuecian city nestled under a hill in one loop of a winding river. Bridges radiate outward across the bending river, leading toward the centre ville, which has a classic European feel with narrow, cobbled streets whose high-end shops hum with pedestrian traffic. The city's uniform tiled roofs and 12th century Romanesque cathedral add to its "medieval" atmosphere, but it is a very modern place. The stadium complex at which matches are held is only about a kilometer and a half out of town.

This will not be the first edition of Les Championnats Beçonailles has hosted, and in fact the city has given its name to the tournament in common Reçuecian parlance, so that the competition itself is simply referred to as "Beçonailles." This helps avoid confusion with le championnat, the highest tier of Reçuecian football. The city of Beçonailles has hosted Reçueçn's premier tennis tournament for over a hundred years. However, this will be the very first edition to be an NSTT grand slam, bringing a new level of prestige and attention to the competition.

Center Court at Beçonailles

It has been a sudden transformation for Beçonailles, which has historically been, like many other tournaments of its kind, an event steeped in tradition, and one which, until just two years ago, did not accept foreign entrants. Obviously, allowing non-Reçuecian competitors entirely changed the atmosphere of the tournament, but the decision, made by the new Ministry of Sport two cycles ago, has been enthusiastically accepted by the tournament organizers, and by the fans, who are happy to see the sport played at an even higher level. The players were also pleased to find that afterward, when the NSTT came back, it decided to grandfather in ranks from the one international edition of the tournament. Last year, Les Championnats were officially affiliated with the NSTT for the first time, so the spectacle was bigger than ever before, and it has grown again this year with the tournament's promotion to a Grand Slam.

Coming from the Hamilton International, temperatures at Beçonailles, toward the north of Reçueçn, will be comparatively cooler and hopefully more pleasant for fans and players alike, although it can still get pretty warm here in the summer. The tournament organizers are hoping for good weather as the stadium does not have a roof to protect the courts from rain.

The easiest way to get to the tournament for visiting international fans is most likely to catch a flight to Genève and take a train from there. Or, if you're already on the continent, don't bother flying at all and just take the train in the first place. Once in Beçonailles, you will find that as in everywhere else in Reçueçn, there is a very high standard for public transport.

Pemecutan Puri - As the Hard Court season ended, PTA officials give a review of their players performance. And it is likely not in a good marked. The double are in a serious highlights. With the Clay Court season started, PTA officials decided to break up several double pair. This move is intended to give a refreshment for their players. In the signup for Clay Court, there can be seen the change that happened in Pemecutan entry. There are only 2 true Pemecutan double pair can be seen. They are Eka Putrawan/Dwi Ratmadi and Putu Listya Dewi/Putu Ayu Maherani. The other entrants are a mixed with foreign players or a changing partner. PTA is successfully secure partnership with Indussian and Eramani tennis organizations for the double pairing. These resulting in 3 new doubles.

Another change must be done by the officials after Kadek Andreawati decided to take a break from the NSTT Tour after she is announcing her pregnancy. For the change, Komang Antari is then being paired with Luh Putu Yundari for the rest of the season until Kadek Andreawati is fit to compete again. In the single part, PTA officials is introducing new players. They are Duwanisarga Yajamaja and Kurigundi Padurjili. Both are from Soracana Islands, the newest state in Pemecutan. Both of them are also included in Pemecutan delegation to the 1st Games of the Melayu Olympiad which will be started in mid-April.

We hope that with this change will give a fresh of wind to our delegations. We have been to stick to our own strategy for the whole time and I think it is needed to be change. Some of our players have been retiring because of the hardship and we don't want to happened again. The addition of Soracanian players are a good resemble of differentiation. We want to upgrade tennis in the new state. Hopefully many new and great players will come from there. Lastly, we wish a good run for our players in this Clay Court season.

Artello International is the opening tournament of NSTT Clay Court season for this year. In this Tier 2 event, Pemecutan enters with 3 single players and several double. The single are Indah Susanti, Duwanisarga Yajamaja and Kirigundi Padurjili. Putu Listya Dew/Putu Ayu Maherani is the only true Pemecutan pairing in the event. The other 4 pairs have Pemecutan players partnering foreign players. Oka Sulastra with Indussian, Gregory Huemenn. While former pair Ilham Nugraha and Jayadi Ahmad are paired with Eramani players, Jimi Rusman and Lenta Rasmi respectively. The First Round of the event is divided into 2 parts which will be held in 9 and 10 April. 3 out of 4 Pemecutan double entries are seeded and automatically advance to the next round. Only Oka Sulastra/Gregory Huemenn which will be playing in the first round facing Leonid Farkaš/Goran Ibrahimović from Srednjaci. While in Single, only Indah Susanti that automatically advance to the second round as she is being seeded. The other 2 single players have to play. Duwanisarga Yajamaja will be playing against Wita Tobelaro from Sendhang, a newcomer nation and also neighbor of Pemecutan. While Kirigundi Padurjili will be facing Fulop Esterhazy from Gergary.

The topic is the question of Friendship, in relation to The Imperial Glorious Empire of Baggieland, and what, if any, actions the Union should take in this regard, based on the circumstances, previous and current. The Minister for Foreign Affairs brings the matter to us, and if there are no initial remarks from those present, I give the word to the Minister for Foreign Affairs. No remarks? Good. Grethe, please proceed."

Prime Minister Tangeus Oxwald took his seat while gesturing with his left-hand, prompting the Foreign Minister to stand and clear her throat. She positioned herself at the far end of the table and greeted the joint cabinet with a nod of her head.

"Thank you, Prime Minister. Comrades, while I am aware that most of you are intimately acquainted with the circumstances surrounding our current predicament, I, and the Prime Minister is in agreement, remain convinced that restating and contextualising the vital points of this matter will benefit our impending discussion and inevitable decision-making.

The Glorious Imperial Empire of Baggieland, colloquially called 'Baggies', are our friends. For their aid of the Union in our troubles with the potato plague in 1836, they were granted a Rock of Friendship. This is known.”

As the Foreign Minister left her words lingering, all present raised their left hand and positioned it on the middle of their chest while closing their eyes and mumbling unintelligibly.

"While the Baggies are often viewed as a somewhat unorthodox and peculiar nation internationally, it is not for a friend to judge, and consequently we do not. This is true not only of this administration, but also of previous ones, independent of political bearings. As it is true of the people of The Union, now and before. However, certain recent events – what you all know as the "Varg Incident" – has put a strain on the sacred bond of Friendship, especially in the eyes of part of the public.

It was the decision of this cabinet to uphold the bond of Friendship in light of Mr. McEnroe's lapse in judgement, for that is what it was deemed as. A friend can make mistakes, but that does not absolve the bond of the Rock."

The Foreign Minister paused and looked at her colleagues. Many nodded to indicate their approval of the cabinet's earlier decision.

"Elements within the Opposition – most notably MP Gertrud Molineux of the Moderate Party – have been most vocal in their disagreement. They have long argued that Mr. McEnroe's 'special treatment' was an afront to the boy, his family, The Union and even Justice itself. Our response has remained the same. It is true that the man was offered leniency, that is no secret. The reason is also clear: the Customs of Friendship. For a while this was enough. The Rock and what it stands for has always remained a bedrock, so also for the Moderate Party and their constituents. The implicit consequence of not upholding the Customs of Friendship is of course not honouring the Rock. Which is, of course, unthinkable."

All in attendence nodded approvingly.

"However, things have changed. MP Molineux is pressing on, and her take on the matter has shifted, and not slightly. She is, in fact, arguing explicitly for a retraction of the Rock."

The whole room started bustling and the Minister for Fisheries and Coastal Affairs jumped out of his seat and shouted

"Desecration!"

"Quiet, please."

Tangeus Oxwald's voice was calm but firm.

"Grethe, please continue, but spare us frivolity and unnecessary provocations."

The Foreign Minister nodded to the Prime Minister and continued.

"MP Molineux has raised a query in Parliament, where she is advocating for the re… Eh, the Unspeakable. The brunt of the argument has little to do with the "Varg Incident" itself, but rather that the initial imbuement of the Rock was an affront to tradition, characterised by flippancy and poor statesmanship. The trowel and two dozen crates of potato seeds sent by King Alsqueak IV was not, she claims, what saved The Union in those dire times, and therefore our recognition of the Baggies as Friends is based on a lie. She is using the "Varg Incident" – which did raise ripples of grievances all throughout the multitude – as a manner to seize the opportunity and retract our recognition of Friendship. Her inner motivations remain unclear, but what is clear is that she holds some sort of grudge against the Baggies, and that she is using current sentiments to elevate herself into the public eye."

Grethe paused and poured herself a glass of water. After emptying it, she scanned the faces of her colleagues.The ministers faces were mostly grim. The newly appointed Minister for Municipal Affairs, Local Government and Regional Development, Linda Ursvikka, cleared her throat and raised her hand. The Prime Minister nodded.

"A Rock given is a bond. This is known. Few Rocks have been given, and never in the history of the Union have we ever retracted one. This is fact. But where does one draw the line, what does the Customs of Friendship allow? Does not spraying wolf repellent in a boy's face mean that it is in fact they that have rejected our Friendship? The Customs say that you must give, but surely Friendship must also be reciprocal? Might it not be that it was they who – symbolically – returned the Rock of Friendship by violating the very customs that the Rock was given in conjunction with, effectively annulling our bond."

The Minister for Fisheries and Coastal Affairs jumped out of his seat again and shouted

"Semantics! One does not retract a Rock of Friendship!"

Several of the other ministers nodded in agreement and shouted their approval.

Grethe looked at the cabinet members and then the Prime Minister. Tangues Oxwald had shifted his chair and was looking out of the window. After a few minutes, he spoke.

"Friendship is a bond, one that we honour in good times and bad. What happened to the boy was Bad. Let us hope that we are travelling towards the Good. My son will be playing with McEnroe in the upcoming event; let us hope that they together can show the strength of Friendship."

The room fell silent. Tangeus Oxwald shifted his chair again, and adressed his collegues.

"Well, that brings us to item sixteen on today's agenda. The topic is the question of the depreciation of structural quotas. The Minister for Fisheries and Coastal Affairs brings the matter to us, and if there are no initial remarks from those present, I give the word to the Minister for Fisheries and Coastal Affairs. INTERNATIONAL SEASON: Why we join, why it's important and why should we care?

Tennis isn't a major sport in our great small nation. If you play, probably you had one parent playing before. If not, someone in your local club, school or work invited you. It's a little bit like a closed club. Decades ago, when tennis apparel was a luxury, just a meager number of people could practice this sport. When the so-called professional era started, the community had to do a lot of choices. Internationally, the sport is gender-mixed, while in Lisander, it is not, remnants of the Victorian society in which several sports emerged and became codified, such as Association Football, Rugby, and also tennis. Anglian influence in Lisander is still felt in these days we live, and it is remarkable how there is still a refusal to put men and women on the same courts, except in mixed doubles events. This is, in fact, the most problematic matter dealt by the Lisander Tennis Federation. Depending on the opinions of the members of the board about gender-mixed tennis, Lisanderian Tennis players can or not join the NSTT.

My two cents, personal opinion that should not be taken neither as the general opinion of The Yellow Blog crew: Tennis, despite being a physically-demanding sport, isn't a where concussions are common, like in Rugby, doesn't involve heavy contact of the bodies, like basketball or any kind of wrestling, doesn't require an ammount of brute force where the random woman could be disadvantaged, like weightlifting. Players are usually meters apart. So, since our society was based in gender equality since early stages of our constitution as a nation, I believe that we should be allowed to compete together. Even sports like fencing allow gender-mixed competition. Yeah, men and women are allowed to point electric swords against each other in a 1.5 meter by 14 meter rectangle, and people love it. "But Telma, Fencing is a gentle sport that doesn't require strength. There are papers that prove that the male body is around 30 per cent stronger, so serves..." Bullshit. I can beat the crap out of my husband in a court. He is a semi-pro rugby player as I'm a semi-pro tennis player, but isn't like he would tackle me on the court.

In our sport, that's still a little expensive, we should work in getting more players and providing decent compensations to them. Most of the sport in the "professional" level, if we can do that way, is still paid by the Paitrocinadores (This is a portmanteau of the words "Father" and "Sponsors" in portuguese. I couldn't translate it. Sorry!), and just a little number of players have sponsors, like Sissie Damsgard recently got an sponsorship by Leinas Timepieces. We need to gather attention, and NSTT is the perfect stage for this. We should use the infrastructure of our sports clubs. Lisander is privileged for having developed the concept of multi-sport clubs. Thank god for the clubhouses with pools, fields and courts. Nearly 60% of the people of the nation is affiliated or can access the venues of a club to practice some sport, even if most people only use the sunday pool, the billiards table, the football and rugby fields... This an absolute honor, in my opinion! And we, the tennis comunity, should go and search for these people. The father that goes to the club in the Sunday to take a rest in the pool... The mother that takes his daughter to hockey training (Take a look at your club, they probably have a "Mommy Hockey" department. We lost those women.) and goes to her pilates class at the gym. We should bring people and make our sport thrive, not discuss things that the world has long since left behind. Let the professionals be professionals and meet the specifics of the NSTT.

The Waterford Twins are ready to join as a doubles pair
As the Clay Court Season starts with the Astello International Kohnheadian tennis supporters were hit with a bombshell announcement ahead of what was supposed to be a pretty normal Tier 2 tournament that doesn't see any of our stars however Mindy and Theresa Waterford the young twin stars changed all that. While Mindy as enjoyed a very good season finishing second in Ceni at the season opener that has not bee the case for Theresa who has moved down in the ranks and has not looked good in her three appearances although she's looking to turn this around on the clay season.

Despite being twins, Mindy and Theresa have not played together like some other notable twins on tour and actually haven't played doubles together since they were 10 or so they claim. However Mindy and Theresa had been wanting this for a while and put some work into it, it will be very interesting to see how they do as two stars of the NSTT who are at a tier 2 coming in as an unranked doubles pairing. They have made it clear that they have no plans to take the spots of anyone and currently wouldn't even be on our roster for Grand Slams which is completely fine as one tournament is enough.

Despite their low ranking Mindy and Theresa have been given the primetime slot at the Campo Primo Battuta the main court here in Astello which is due to their name recognition. In the first round they will be taking on Vladimir Bekhov and Viktor Volchyashev two newcomers out of Sannyamathland a nation that recently made its NSTT deubt. Mindy and Theresa despite their lack of a doubles rank should definitely be the favorites and might even be the favorites if they win and take on Diana Jansen and Haikal Jansen from Sharktail as siblings make the best partners.

The big question between the two is where will their chemistry be at, while Mindy and Theresa have a very good relationship will they be able to communicate the way the top doubles players do and will their relationship play an advantage or will it be a disadvantage. Overall I think this will be a good thing for Mindy and Theresa to do and while they have no real chance at winning maybe in the future they can develop into a competitive doubles pair.

The other doubles pair from Kohnhead is Milicent Broon and Alexander Dumor who are both ranked in the bottom 200s and have a matchup with Iria Valens and Tea Valens (siblings again) out of Lisander. Broon and Dumor are favorites but with poor performances we know the Waterford twins could easily end up taking their spot at Grand Slams and so they will need to be on their best games.

On the singles side 15 year old Sammy Shuter makes his debut against Sett Ball while Martin Lane makes his second ever apperance this time against higher ranking and high emotions Goran McEnroe out of Baggieland who did quite well in Electrum after recently making his NSTT debut. Austin Powers the younger brother (18 years old) of Anthony Powers who made it all the way to the finals over in Northwest Kalactin has a matchup with the other major star from Baggieland in John Ivanisevic. Grace Covalt continues the Kohnhead Vs. TJUN-ia rivalry with a match against Pedro Sanchez de la Cruz as our highest ranking singles player doesn't even get a bye because both Maccay and Anthony Powers have now played their way out of tier 2 tournaments.

We will have more updates in a few days when the tournament starts and the Waterfords make their NSTT doubles debut.

This will a great day for tennis in New Jacobland: this is the first time an New Jacoblandian has competed in NSTT. That's right, New Jacobland has never competed in NSTT. This changes today, with Cam Allen becoming the first international tennis representative from New Jacobland. He will play Darsheel Bansal at Campo Velasco, at 9am Western European Time. Four players from New Jacobland qualified for Astello: the aforementioned Cam Allen, Rex Ryan, Jozef Valur, and Wayton Polish. Cam Allen and doubles specialist Jamie Ralltos will play in the doubles as well.

HANKOW - After a 3 year hiatus dating back to 2018, Vietussian tennis returns in the exact same tournament it started years ago: the clay court season of the NSTT. Fielding 4 singles players and 2 doubles pairs, the Astello International will provide the backdrop for the rebirth of United Vietussia's tennis program. "It's been a long time coming," said Bradley Tang, "but we're all itching to get back on the courts and return to a competitive level as soon as possible".

Using protected rankings from previous tournaments, Tang was able to secure the 19th seed in the singles draw for the upcoming Astello International, entitling him to a first round bye. All other singles players and both doubles pairs have been drawn in the first round, a good chance to try and tune up prior to their first NSTT matches in over 3 years. "It's interesting to adjust to a new partner", said top ranked Vietussian doubles player Freepan Jer, "but I know [Albert Yong] is more than capable and we'll be looking to get right back to business as usual."

On the opening day of the tournament, Yong and Jer are slated to play unranked Korent/Glesnik on Campo Velasco third in the day's order. On the singles side, Matthew Arp will kick off the action on Campo Rossi against unranked Alen Glesnik (perhaps Yong and Jer will fare better against Glesnik after the quick turnaround between his singles and doubles matches), and Albert Yong will take on Nazri Robert (currently ranked 251) to start the action on Campo Cadute 2.

On day 2, Tang and Arp will wrap up first round Vietussian doubles round action by rounding out the day's action on Campo Cadute 2 against the Fulhampton duo out of TJUN-ia, a country well noted for multiple high ranking doubles pairs on tour. Elsewhere on Campo Cadute 4, Freepan Jer finishes Vietussian singles action for round 1 against Edo Sauso (currently unranked) in hopes to join the already advanced Bradley Tang in round 2.

Vietussians have quite a bit to be excited with in the coming days, as the return to the NSTT marks a wider return to the global sports scene for the nation. Time will tell just how long it may take for Vietussian athletes to contend for the upper echelons of their respective sports, but one thing is for certain: Vietussian tennis is back, and we here at the Vietussian Inquisitor sports desk can't wait to see what happens in the opening rounds of the Astello International.

Exit Polls Indicate LibDem Landslide

ATHEBURN: The Garth Ledford administration has been overlooking a fairly peaceful and smooth election season in the GU, starting last Friday. The transition into the Parliamentary Couno-style system of government will be considered the 'second' republic of the Grearish Union, according to some, as the very centralised government system will now be a 590-seat lower house and a yet-undetermined upper house. The only controversy that has been able to cast a shadow on these elections, was the Elction Commission's indecision when it came to allowance of broadcast of mid-election opinion polls. Many leaders of differing political parties have been very vocal about how this might skew the election, but the commission has clearly stated that no rule of the kind has been enacted yet and any restriction, if any, will come into effect after the current Commons election.

Curiously enough, most LibDem leaders have been rather quiet about this occurrence, as most networks acrross the GU continue to predict LibDem landslides in the current election. "We will adhere to whatever the Commission mandates, and wouldn't like to comment on the matter presently," said Liberal Democratic Pary (LDP) spokesperson, Gerald Montgomery, who is contesting the elections from the 14th Forsho constituency. The Left Front Alliance's constituent parties have been very vocal, in contrast, pointing out the woes of money-minded press that is not regulated by the government - also making a case for regulation of freedom for a better democracy. While that is debatable, it is projected the far-left could be bagging as many as 35 (±5) seats in the election. The frontrunners in LDP are obviously far ahead with a projected majority enough to form a government with the People's Social Party (PSP) owing to ideological similarities and recently improved relations between the leaderships. A possible singular-majority has also not been ruled out by the projection agencies, which would make for a very strong government without having to rely too much on alliance partners. Analysts are seeing this as a step in the right direction towards prompt acquisition of high-expense equipment (including defence, aviation, etc.) without the characteristic Grearish delay. This may be pushed further by a surging Sean Fullerton as Prime Ministerial favourite (should he win his constituency in Atheburn, who is looking towards a closer Esportiva, and the eventuality of a Union.

According to most estimates, then, it might, in all probability be a LDP government at the centre, with a sizeable majority in the Commons. How much that result is contested, will be interesting to see, in view of international commitments that Grearia has, lined up for the future.

The season has started on clay pitches. ASTELLO INTERNATIONAL will host tennis players and among them will be players from DR Srednjaci.

TENA ŠPIRIČIĆ - 20 years, 179 cm, 69 kg, born in Katanija. our best ranked tennis player, is currently in 130th position and for this year 49th position. It has a 4: 2 win-loss ratio. At Electrum Slam she was the most successful.An excellent tactician on the field, a very intelligent player with great technique. She compensates for her's lack of strong punches with fast legs, great technique and quick reactions.
She reads the game very well and closes the possibilities of getting easy points to the opponent. Does'nt make a lot of unforced errores during the match, all around player, with incredible defensive skills, return to the field every ball she catches. She has great overhead smash, terrific volley, great forehand and backhand.
Serves accurately and precisely, rarely makes mistakes on service. The balls have rotations and bounce faster in contact with the ground.
There is no speed like Lucija Bagarić but her first serves are hard to read and return. Tena also uses a two-handed hidden backhand that is also hard to read. She often annoys his opponents with his game because She returns each ball and thus forces the opponent to take an one more shot, which is often an unforced error for an annoyed opponent.
She is a former Srednjaci champion, and a former junior Srednjaci champion. The last tournament she won is the Melarit Gold Coast Open two months ago.

Lucija has a win-loss ratio of 4: 2, she is currently in the 164th position, but she is also the 73rd player in the world for this year.
With her tennis club, she won the DR Srednjaci championship last year. Muscular constitutions of the body, she plays with her right hand, one-handed backhand is also her best shot in the game. She likes all substrates but mostly grassy and hard courts.

183 cm, 82 kg, muscular build, left-handed play, one-handed backhand. A very awkward player who can beat anyone but doesn’t have a constant so he can easily lose as well. LEONID FARKAŠ 24 years old, the oldest of 5 children. brother Hrvoje also plays tennis but he is 13 years old. Sister Danijela Farkaš is an athlete, high jump. Ivana Farkaš, second sister is a swimmer and his youngest brother Leon Farkaš trains football.
He is 187 cm tall, 87 kg, plays with his right hand, two-handed backhand. Excellent service that can go at speeds over 220 km / h.

Great game of our tennis players on the first day of the tournament. As expected, everyone who came out on the field won.
Let's actually look at the match report.

Ljubomir Ivanković defeated Arlo Daniels. In the first set, Ivanković immediately imposed authority and started with his recognizable game, great shots with which he did a lot of damage to the opponent. Very quickly, Ivanković went to the result advantage of 5: 0! Daniels only managed to reduce it to 5: 1, but with his service game, Ivanković concluded the set with 6: 1 in 36 minutes of play. In the second set, Ivanković slows down the rhythm, not wanting to spend too much, but there was a trap. Daniels sees an opportunity, a slower rhythm on clay court suits him. The third set was tied, Ivankovic tried to speed up the pace and Daniels slowed down with slice shots. At a crucial moment, Daniels misses a clean smash and the result turns in Ivanković's favor. Daniels, visibly upset by the miss, made a double service error and gave the game to Ivanković. Ivanković now has 5: 4 and service for 6: 4, he doesn't miss that and won the match.

"Uhh, what can I say. I almost made a disaster out of the finished and won match. My opponent fought to the end and I struggled later because I couldn't find the rhythm anymore. The victory is here, I'm looking forward to the next match."

In the second set, Ivan adapted to the field and conditions. He intensifies the game and puts in more speed, which is too much for the opponent. Smooth 6: 0 in 32 minutes of play in that set.

In one even and strong match, Leonid Farkaš and Goran Ivanišević won a great combination of Oka Sulastra / Gregory Huemenn. Things went completely badly when Ibrahimović also lost his serve. There was no going back to that set. Our pair continues to play better, more harmoniously and decisively, and they manage to win the remaining two sets and take the victory.

The Tsang Proposition
Rebecca Earl - University of Humanities, Arts and Design (UHAD)

A disturbing stalemate occurred between the Tsang Grearia (an arm of Tibetan Motorworks) officials and Government representatives in Atheburn, as both parties failed to reach a consensus on the form and method of relief that must be provided to automobile firms in the country after the recent stagnation in the automobile industry, especially for the family-car segment. The talks ended rather hopelessly, to some observers, even though the Tsang representatives did provide an alternative proposal for the government to ponder upon.

It has been a trend for the automobile industry in the GU to stagnate every now and then - failing to drive innovation (and subsequently demand) leading to bullish betting on the stock markets and other depressing stats. What causes this, in the Grearish context? The answer to that question will be imperative in understanding the proposition that Tsang have put forward, and the ramifications of the same, should it be accepted unedited by the Central Government.

The prohibitively high import duties imposed by the Grearish government despite the evident reliance on imported family cars has been put under the radar time and time again. There has been no effort from the government to drive innovation in the segment, leading to the complete dependence on foreign providers. A few foreign companies have traditionally dominated the scene, including the Sherpan Tsang, and there has been no other incentive, nor tax cuts necessary to incentivise growth in the center. Prices have also been high as a result of the reasons compounded upon each other, causing employment in the sector to plummet. A lack of government subsidy, in this case, has been a disastrous (what they call market-facing) strategy in terms of labour. No minimum employment cap has resulted in the industry being excluded from even the 'subsistence' category of sectors which have ample pay but inadequate average income. What is stopping this ship from sinking? A strong minimum wage regime, the hope of an Esportivan Union for lower protectionism and a strong labour-minded government in the upcoming elections at the centre.

What did Tsang propose, then? It was mainly to bypass the exorbitantly high import taxes for automobiles by assembling in Grearia to contribute to the 'Make in Grearia' drive, but importing the parts required for a smaller percentage tax from the Sherpa Empire for better employment, innovation, and competitive pricing.

Sounds good? There is a catch, and that too, a two-fold one. Accepting the proposal as-is could leave the industry at a risk of being monopolised by the company, that would suck out what remaining consumer surplus there is. A quagmire of high deadweight losses will quickly follow suit. Secondly, there is a world of difference between 'assembling' and 'manufacturing'. While the former is more suited to Grearia in the short term because of being more downstream in the production chain, manufacturing would be better in the long-run 'big-push' industrialisation drive in the sector, should the government choose to do so.

At this point, it would seem that a second round of talks between the government and the corporation is imminent, but a solution is definitely close to being stamped and sealed.

REPORTER : Dear viewers welcome to the show IT'S TENNIS TIME. The season goes on, the tennis caravan moves to clay courts. All our representatives won in the first round. The game went into a tie break and there Špiričić and Španović were more concentrated and got key balls.

"We were good, the first match is always a bit problematic until we get into the rhythm. The first set is great, we attacked every ball of theirs. The second set they establish balance in their game. We waited for our chance, we knew I couldn't play in such an rhythm all the time. Our opportunity was in the thirteenth game, a game of nerves, we were better there. "said Tena Špiričić.

Tennis: GTS entries flop out of Astello International; 'Give them a chance' - TvbD official

ASTELLO, SAN ORTELIO - It was expected, but entries from the Gergarian Tennis Series (GTS) have made their first round exits from the tournament.

Festivities at the GTS' clay season have started and produced several unlikely winners, which allowed the Gergarian Tennis Federation (TvbD/TsvtD) to send Gergarian representatives from GTS to NSTT events beginning this clay season. Clay specialist Armin Miksa representing Steinigestrasse, who made surprising upsets in the recent outdoor grand slam tournament in Electrum, won the first ever tournament in the GTS, the Oeldepot Tour, with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Milchmaenner's prized recruit, Ralph Henschel. In the doubles, it was a fated meeting between two former doubles partners as Alexandra Barna and her new partner, Cecilia Riesz, compounded on Henschel's misery as he and his partner, Walther Rapp, were victims of a 6-4, 7-6 beatdown in the doubles' final.

As the NSTT mainstays gentlepersonly agreed to skip the next Singles' Category M1 tournament to allow unheralded local stars to flourish in the first sponsored tournament, the Szekely Open which was sponsored by Pusztitas, it was local club's Fulop Esterhazy who reigned supreme in the Singles category against Oeldepot's Adolar Scheinberg, while in the doubles, Henschel and Rapp were able to win this time, beating Sebo Juhasz and Misi Nagy in straight sets. Both Barna and Henschel pairs would not be eligible for the NSTT Tier 2 events as both the NSTT participants would exceed the limit on them alone.

Another NSTT tier 2 slot was secured by a tournament winner, this time, by Blauwelle's Gottfried Rosenberger, beating Maike Glas in the first Category M2 event in Milchmaenner's Fabermeister Tour. Cintia Sirokay and Louise Gunther from home club Milchmaenner would take the doubles crown.

Although the Gategory N tournament in Pas will be scheduled during the NSTT's season break, the winners of the recent tournaments have been entered in NSTT Tier 2's Astello International - Fulop Esterhazy and Gottfried Rosenberger will accompany NSTT mainstays Orsolya Szabo and Eckehard Blumenberg, who both have round 1 byes, as well as Sebo Juhasz and Misi Nagy being the next eligible pair to enter due to both Barna and Henschel having exceeded 1000 points in the NSTT doubles rankings.

So far, the results have not fared well to the newest set of Gergarian NSTT players, as all of them bowed out in the first round of the tournament. Rosenberger lost in straight sets, 3-6, 0-6, to Grearian Grayson Norris, while Esterhazy lost in straight sets as well to Pemecutan newcomer Kirigundi Padurjili, 1-6, 5-7. Norris then dealt a double blow to Gergary as the Miksa-Arendt pair is still not working, a 4-6, 3-6 loss, and Juhasz and Nagy pair lost a close first set, 6-7 but then was bamboozled by their Acastanhan opponents, Miguel Taberon and Isis Dimpal.

Results are not encouraging for the Gergarian newcomers, but a top official of the federation have appealed to the public to give the GTS entries a chance in the upcoming Antillia Masters, where Fulop Esterhazy is expected to play in the qualifiers. "Give the new blood a chance in the NSTT, we know it is painful at first, but time will pass and we could have another NSTT winner like Donat Kis." Matyi Puskas, board member of the TvbD said in an exclusive interview.

Szabo and Blumenberg will both play in Campo Rossi with the former facing Mahima Gadia of Pratapgadh at 12:00 local time, who beat Wayton Polish of New Jacobland in three sets while at 18:00 local, Blumenberg will face Kohnhead's Grace Covalt who made it through the second round thanks to a 7-6, 5-3 win over TJUN-ia's Pedro Sanchez de la Cruz.

It has been confirmed that a documentary on the Gergarian tennis players in NSTT and the GTS will be produced and will be shown in popular streaming platforms.

The Ethics of Friendship

Fredrik Stagnelius was experiencing feelings of ambivalence. It wasn’t anything uncommon; he was a fairly indecisive person and found life full of seemingly irreconcilable differences. His ambivalence was layered, however, and some parts were easier coming to terms with than others. On the one hand, he was pleased to be the highest ranked Gnejsian player competing. On the other hand, this was only so because Granit and Heraklit were deemed sufficiently established in the higher tiers of international rankings, while the other players had been somewhat underachieving. Fredrik was, as always, some place in between. In no way performing as one would’ve hoped, but then again not really bombing it either. He was just Fredrik, and placed at the top for standing still. While not uncomplicated, he had made an uneasy peace with the situation.

No, it was rather an added layer of ambivalence he was finding trouble reconciling even barely. A new dilemma de jour had surfaced. Fortune had deemed it so that Fredrik was playing Goran McEnroe in his first round. McEnroe was a Baggie, and Baggies were friends. Fredrik, while an average student, had always excelled in history, and particularly in the sub-field History of Friendship. He knew the Customs of Friendship, and he knew they said one must give. How did that parse with competition? He did not know that. The Customs seemed straightforward. Did that mean that he would be dishonoring the Rock in playing to win? It sure seemed so to him. On the other hand he had his own personal ethics and the standards of the international circuit: you play to win.

It was a real pickle, and he needed help. He first turned to his coach. Sheila Johansson - not one overly preoccupied with tradition - had scolded him for merely entertaining the notion of throwing a game or withdrawing. After Fredrik had lectured about mid-1800 history, the potato plague, the Rock being imbued and the Customs of Friendship for half an hour, she finally relented and told him to speak to the GTF liaison.

Herman Tegnér - the right hand man on the ground for GTF boss Werner Naess - was generally thought off as a no-good lackey, but Fredrik had often found him helpful and kind. He had listened attentively and quickly concluded that Fredrik was right to pose the question.

“I suppose it was inevitable when the Baggies announced their intention. We should’ve had that examined by an authority. This is our slip. Thanks for bringing it to us. And don’t worry, we’ve got someone. She’s consulted with us on other delicate matters. She’s probably steading in the Interior, but she always keeps a satellite phone for emergencies. The call was suddenly disconnected, and the only answer Fredrik got was a dial tone.

It's Falling

San Ortelio - Playing at Astello International have been one hell of a journey for Pemecutan players. Reaching the third day of the competition, Pemecutan see their singles are all defeated. 9th seed Indah Susanti is losing in a straight set match against newcomer Freepan Jer. While newcomer Kirigundi Padurjili is also lost from 27th seed Tena Spiricic from Srednjaci. With these losses, Pemecutan will only rely on their double for the rest of the tournament.

After the loss of Oka Sulastra and Gregory Huemenn in the First Round, Pemecutan still have 4 players in the double competition. 2 of them are the pair Putu Listya Dewi/Putu Ayu Maherani which given 15th seed in the tournament. The other 2 are mixed-nations pair. 8th seed Lenta Rasmi (ERM)/Jayadi Ahmad (PCU) and 7th seed Ilham Nugraha (PCU)/Jimi Rusman (ERM). All of them are automatically advance to the second round. For the Second Round, Putu Listya Dewi/Putu Ayu Maherani will be facing newcomer from neighboring country, Sendhang, Eka Mulyana/Elfa Mulyana. Lenta Rasmi/Jayadi Ahmad will also playing against neighboring country. They are Acastanhada pair, Miguel Taberon/Isis Dimpal. And the last pair, Ilham Nugraha/Jimi Rusman will meet host pair, Mirco Tonti/Domenico Lunghi.

As the result came, PTA Officials feel disappointed with the Single especially Indah Susanti. Susanti was not playing in her prime performance which makes her losing quite easily from her opponent. The official congrats Padurjili for her accomplishment to reached Second Round although she has to going home early. But losing to a seeded player is quite understandable.

"It is their (Padurjili and Yajamaja) first tournament so it is quite possibly that they are losing early. The atmosphere of international competition and domestic is very different. They need to be included in various other tournaments. Experience will make them better. And hopefully, Pemecutan regeneration will be on the right track"
