THE SPIRIT OF SPEAR DANES CONTINUES TO GRACE DEFENDERDOM

The year is 2021, Black Hawk stamina is at an all-time low, Wolves now get bad luck with their occupation attempts even when succeeding and it is now left to the independents to carry what is left of the raider faction. At desperate times like these, we look to the wise spirit of the deceased Spear Danes for assistance. This update, The spirit of Spear Danes finally decided to answer our calls for raider activity with the most varied update we had seen in quite awhile.

First we had Lone Wolves United and the West Pacific Armed Forces planning an occupation attempt, so we had to check out what exactly LWU was going to pull this time. At first we were in awe as we saw they had jumped to a passworded region we couldn’t access. However, the petrifying might of the spirit was too strong and the occupation attempt failed. What had happened was the lead moved 22 seconds late due to failing to enter a one letter password in time, as the spirit tilted the odds in our favor.

Next on the cutting board was The Black Hawks who unfortunately managed to gain some wins due to our laser focus on LWU and TWPAF. As we dominated throughout the run TBH inevitably decided to pull the classic strategy of “stop jumping and wait for a little bit once we get chased” and disappeared. The spirit was expecting this and it just so happened that the infinitely more competent NPA was raiding as well, so bored we were we switched. The TBH strategy was still in effect however, and they re-upped to attack our ancestral land, Spear Danes itself.

First Warden Tim and Warden Commander Altmoras noticed before anyone could and intercepted the unlawful attack. And thus the spirit of Spear Danes having done all it could, went to rest.

Moral of the Story:
Don’t Mess With Spear Danes

...We also had a win from an EPSA training op, which was fun :V

Well it was a harsh and brutal 11 hours between Major and Minor while chasing was cancelled by a coalition of indies who kindly dedicated their entire run last major to us. Serendipitously we got back on the horse this lazy Sunday and left raiders at both major and minor grasping for what few wins they could obtain. Our Europeans left the Europeians with a 3 wins to our 6 at minor, and the major squad held the North Pacific Army to 7 wins compared to our 13. I'm not a dangerous sociopath who wakes up at 9am on a Sunday to play NS so don't ask me for details on Minor. But at major the 4D checkers usually employed by the NPA to get wins was masterfully counteracted by the 5D chess of First Warden and Russian Grandmaster Tim. Bit sad when you get fewer wins than you have updaters, but we can only win regions where the raiders actually jump, and jump on time at that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hello Gameplay.

The Order of The Grey Wardens has spent a lot of time talking shit, talking up Libcord growth metrics, and generally stomping on anybody who thinks that it’s a good idea to raid. This is for good reason, of course, as alongside our brave comrades of Libcord we’ve all but made raid attempts a largely futile activity - particularly tag raid attempts. Raiders are demoralized, unwilling to raid, and failing to invest at all into their new recruits.

However, TBH has always had one last trick in the book. It’s always the same. First they take constant L’s whenever they can convince enough of their troops to raid. Then they’ll show up with a 10-endorsement single-team and pick up a bunch of wins to make themselves feel good, and posture about how they’ve still got it. Ladies, Gentlemen, and Non-Binary Pals, I’m proud to announce that after tonight The Black Hawks don’t even have that anymore.

Having pulled in Thaecia, EPSA, and Lily to carry them like a nurse would help an elderly patient, the TBH crew put together their usual low-ambition, single-team, double-digit stack and went at it. Usually at this point we’d concede to them, due to not having enough chasers. Not tonight though. Tonight the raiders were thoroughly dominated, and half of the Hawks dropped out early.

Thanks to the efforts of an inspirational force of 17 Libcord Chasers, the desperate comeback attempt of a demoralized and dying invader organization was thoroughly taken apart. The Black Hawks and Co attempted 74 jumps tonight. Of those they only took 22, many of them out of pure variance luck. They further missed on 18, and most importantly saw 34 of their attempts successfully defended. In what demonstrates another positive winrate for Libcord against invaders, we have surpassed a significant milestone. Never before have we been able to contest against these high-endo, single-team efforts before tonight. Tonight, we showed why Libcord is the place to be for anyone wanting to win at R/D.

Naturally, there were hiccups. Next time, we’ll do even better, but I’ve come to the acceptance that we can only shut out tagger crews most nights. However, tonight was phenomenal. I want to give a big shout out to Haku, whose logistics and organization skills were instrumental as always. In addition, massive shout-out to The League, whose eight-chaser turnout tonight was the largest of any participating military! It’s been awesome having our new allies with us these past months, and we’re so very excited to keep running with this momentum to keep having fun, keep winning non-stop, and to successfully keep on track to our goal of shutting down raiding.

It would probably be in my sleep-deprived brain's best interest to say "GG EZ" and go to bed. Alas, a bit more seriously,

I think we're at a point where I can say with confidence that the decision to pursue re-entry into Libcord was the best decision made by the Consulate and Departments of Defense and Foreign Affairs in recent Leaguer history, if not ever. The support from Libcord and The Order of the Grey Wardens both in our reintroduction to normalcy/acceptance and to defending have been astounding, and our government is extremely grateful. I would in particular like to thank First Warden Tim-Opolis, Warden Commanders Haku and Altmoras, Warden-Constable Grea Kriopia, TSP Minister of Defense Witchcraft and Sorcery, and many others including all of the Libcord leadership for welcoming us into full faction participation and supporting our military to the extent that you all have, as well as aiding myself in moving up the ladder in Libcord to represent my region.

The defender community has been wonderful to The League and we hope to continue being an active and solid contributor to it as time goes on!

It often does count as volunteer hours for many schools and universities to help those in need.

Okay, that's not all. Much more importantly than the ban on Goggers is the Promotion of Grea Kriopia to Warden-Constable! Honestly, I'm pretty sure she's coming for all of our jobs at this point, because GK has been an absolutely unstoppable force within The Grey Wardens. Her contributions during update, within the faction system, regional culture, as well as pretty much every single other part of The Order have been massive and endlessly appreciated. I feel incredibly lucky to have a player of her caliber and talent within our Officer team, and am supremely confident that she will be the one to finally break the Constable Curse. Grea Kriopia has been such a massive catalyst for activity within our Officer group, and I'm confident that she'll be more than able to thrive in her new role as a Warden-Constable. Her commitment to Defending, The Order, and the community at large is certainly one to be applauded, and I can't wait to see her keep climbing and demonstrating her skill!
