It was a sleepy start to the Di Bradini Cup for the Snow Pups. It was hard to get inspired about playing Pratapgadh, whom several members of the squad had already played against just a few weeks earlier in Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom. Señor Chacuzca’s vociferous sideline encouragement notwithstanding, it seemed nothing could motivate his young charges to up their tempo. The result was a somewhat listless affair: Pratapgadh, with the benefit of numbers in midfield, dominated possession, but sent their two best chances of the game wide. Græntfjall, by contrast, had to wait until the second half to get into the game, when Sara Kristoffersdóttir’s perfectly weighted lobbed pass sent Hanna Nicosdóttir through on goal, cutting in from the left wing to finish in style. Sara had a late penalty shout against Reshmi Kapadia, who seemed to bring her down inside the area, and the brief controversy over the no-call provided just about the only spark of excitement on the day, though not enough to induce a second goal as the Snow Pups were content to sit on their 1 – 0 lead. Thankfully, Darmen played out a draw to give the table the best possible complexion.

Di Bradini Cup 50: Equestria 4, Sarzonia 0

It's been a while since we had a deep Equestrian run in the Di Bradini Cup to cover here at Our Little Ponies, but that may soon change as the Equestrian under-21 national team opened their latest campaign in style, with a 4-0 thrashing of Sarzonia at Valanari's Duran Palace. In a fixture between two former tournament champions, the outcome never seemed in doubt for the Little Ponies, much to the delight of the sizable Equestrian contingent in the stands which made the short flight south to Valanora.

Condottiere striker Sara Valestein opened the scoring in just the 4th minute, seizing on a poor clearance by a Sarzonian defender and firing into the bottom left corner before anyone else had a chance to react. Seven minutes later, Valestein struck again to make it 2-0, rising above everyone to head home a Light Aurora corner from just beyond the six-yard box. It was a brilliant start for the young Equestrian-Freeporter dual national who has played a crucial role in her club's meteoric ascent from the Second League to the Challengers' Cup knockout rounds over the past few seasons, although Condottiere supporters were certainly less than pleased when she chose to play for the Equestrian national team rather than that of her birthplace.

With a two goal lead, the Little Ponies sat back, content to let the Sarzonians try to break them down, but never seemed especially troubled in the defense, goalkeeper Emerald Eclipse only being called upon twice to make a save in the first half. Meanwhile, the Equestrians hit the Sarzonians on the counterattack several times, Star Dew rattling both posts in quick succession. Then, just before the end of the half, Winterspear found Mint Leaf with a long through ball which the crystal pony chipped over the outstretched glove of the Sarzonian keeper into the net, a fine way for the winger to celebrate after signing with Kelssek's CF Outineau just a few hours before kickoff.

Although Equestrian supporters were surely hoping for the match to turn into a complete rout in the second half, they were to be somewhat let down as the Little Ponies instead put on a clinic in possession as the Sarzonians struggled to control the ball in the second half. Finally, with five minutes remaining on the clock, Lemon Zest, called off the bench to replace Star Dew midway through the second half, lanced a beautiful free kick from outside the box right into the postage stamp to seal the Equestrians' 4-0 victory.

Manager Red Dwarf was effusive in his post-match remarks, praising his team, but also made it clear that there would be no room for complacency from his players, especially after just one game. Still, it's been six long years since the Little Ponies last graced the second round of the Di Bradini Cup, and both the players and supporters are sure to be delighted after such a strong start.

DBC50 - MD1 v. San Ortelio (1-4)

Postby Vilita and Turori » Fri Apr 09, 2021 5:49 pm

Turmondale Grounds, Raynor City, Valanora :: Any optimism surrounding the return of the Vilita & Turori Under-21 Squad under the leadership of Vilitan National Team legend Purapal Eskiiy was quickly extinguished after 90 minutes at the Turmondale Grounds as the Little Eel-Kitties got off to the worst possible start to their campaign in the 50th Di Bradini Cup, a 4-1 defeat at the hands of San Ortelio.

It was a difficult result for Purapal Eskiiy's side but no more difficult for any player than Derizi Amatopa. The 19 year old Turorian who plays domestically for Revolutionaries in Eura struggled to keep the ball out of the net and would likely have been pulled at the interval if this were a game of Ice Hockey instead of the Under-21 World Cup of Footsport. Instead, Amatopa was left to suffer between the sticks as Eskiiy attempted to throw more attackers at the problem which only resulted in more quality chances for San Ortelio. When the final whistle blew it was equal parts relief and despair for Amatopa. Obviously the despair was in the quality of their performance on the night while the relief was that it was over.

Vilita & Turori U21 [1] - [4] San Ortelio

GOALS: U21 :: 38' Clarana Refiami
STATS: U21 :: Possession: 39%:: Shots: 5:: Corners: 9 San Ortelio :: Possession: 41%:: Shots: 8:: Corners: 7
Lineup: [GK] Derizi Amatopa, [D.] Kamarela Dzzara, [D.] Karek Edgeli, [D.] Narri Sebapilo, [DM] Karisto Monafog, [ML] Naraiza Ruaplal, [MC] Khrusan Mlianko, [MC] Trezisi Rokopolis, [MR] Friika Diirotora, [FC] Clarana Refiami, [FC] Tyoasi Klipark
Bench: [FC] Loala Inkabu, [FC] Treasvo Tlikara, [M] Cuoabaza Orani’aoa, [M] Imauka Lkomorak, [U ] Kinabo Telioa, [D] Injyua Klizlo, [GK] Zelkki Milake Jr.

The result would really leave some questions for Purapal Eskiiy and the Vilita & Turori Under-21 Coaching Staff however. Heading into the 50th Di Bradini Cup there was absolutely no question who the starting goalkeeper for the duration of the tournament would be. In fact, the historically stacked Vilita & Turori Goalkeeping pool was notably thin at the moment with Amatopa the only highly regarded quality prospect in the system between the age of 17-24. Under the assumption that Amatopa would play a full 90 minutes in every single Vilita & Turori match during the Di Bradini Cup, Eskiiy went off the board a bit in filling out their roster with the entirely unproven 16 year old son of former Vilita National Team goalkeeper Zelkki Milake getting a call into the squad along with Cocoabo #86 the goalkeeper for Turori's National Cocoabo Squad. Milake was drawn into the squad with hopes that the exposure to an internationstatal competition for the youngster might spur their development into a prospect with the potential to one day be on the same quality level as that of their famous father at Eastal Lunar FC. The inclusion of the Cocoabo was mostly to draw in the support from isolated groups that still believed that the Cocoabo should be the sole representatives of the Turorian National Team and will ultimately unlock the Island Emirate's first World Cup Triumph.

Now, however, there are new doubts surrounding Amatopa's role in goal. There is no doubt that with 12 career Internationstatal appearances between the Turori National Team and Vilita & Turori, Amatopa had experience enough for the role. But Cocoabo #86 was the most experienced goalkeeper on the roster and had already proven the ability to perform behind a team full of citizens. While it was highly unlikely that Eskiiy would draft Zelkki Milake Jr. into a starting role, it could be a possibility down the road. Either way, Amatopa's performance in the opener against San Ortelio has seeded doubt in a place where none had previously existed heading into the tournament.

Of course, Vilita & Turori's rough start is in part due to a misfortune in the randomized group draw that saw the Little Eel-Kitties drawn in a group that includes the defending Under-21 World Cup Champions San Ortelio. In what is undoubtedly the so-called "Group of Death" within the 50th Di Bradini Cup, the task will only get harder if that is even possible for Vilita and Turori with remaining matches still to play against Delaclava and the Commonwealth of Baker Park. Already in a hole of three goals differential, Eskiiy will have to lead Vilita and Turori to at least one big victory over the final two matches to stand any chance of advancing to the knockout rounds and may very well require two wins from the remaining two matches if they are to advance to the Round of 16.

After spending the build-up to Di-Bradini Cup 50 in Raynor City, the Little Eel-Kitties would have to pack their bags and leave the comforts of the Capital City for their matchday two fixture as they traveled off to the city of Kareen on the Island of Capri. Their Matchday 2 fixture against Delaclava would be played at the Rose Gardens. Despite the scenery, however, there would not likely be much love to go around amongst the roses as it will be a critical match for both teams. With both Vilita and Turori and Delaclava having suffered a defeat on Matchday 1, the two sides are level on exactly 0 points heading into Matchday 2. Potential for a pair of Group C draws aside, one of the two teams could find themselves eliminated with a defeat on Matchday 2 and could mark the last meaningful 90 minutes of their campaign. Of course, with the magnitude of their defeat on the opening matchday, it may not be enough for Vilita and Turori just to defeat Delaclava to keep their hopes of advancing alive, but the Little Eel-Kitties may also need to win by at least two or three goals to get back to a level playing field before their final matchday fixture against Baker Park.

The good news for Purpal Eskiiy's side is no matter the result against Delaclava, should San Ortelio defeat Baker Park at the Turmondale Grounds then Vilita & Turori can still control their fate at the Di Bradini Cup on Matchday 3 if they can secure a Matchday 2 victory over Delaclava. While the biggest question pre-match may be which goalkeeper will Eskiiy and the Vilita and Turori Under-21 Coaching Staff put forward against Delaclava - it will be a much different story after 90 minutes when the Little Eel-Kitties will have much more clarity regarding their fate in Valanora.

The Agent

PART 4 - If You Were My Love

'Alright, Iago Martensson here. Who's calling somebody at ten in the night?'
'It's me. The Grim Reaper McCarthy. No, not the actor.'

The phone call between a Swanguard Athletic's head scout didn't go off to the best start. Of course, it would rarely go well if somebody's waking him up, just as the middle-aged man's about to go into the bed, and even less so if the said agent was a notorious headhunter of talents both foreign and domestic. This, in one way, would have meant that McCarthy would have a widespread coverage of prospects and stars, from Ranorian quarterback Deondre Rhine to Maethoru SC midfielder Kherles Ensaunden on the other side of the Salamantic Sea, but also sheer layer of fear in those who would try their best to ban their prospects from being represented by McCarthy. Still, there's not much you could do, in the end, to stop the man from getting what he wants, and Iago Martensson felt that immediately upon hearing Pierre's voice.

'Sorry for waking you up this late in the night. But it does concern both of us.'
'I thought you have already made the scouting trip to see Hannigan, Woo and van den Vries last month. What's the matter this time?'
'Tell me about Zina Woodcarver. West Prince Eric Secondary, sophomore, the girl who scored 54 goals in high school level, Manitoba 4AAA.'

All that took was ten seconds for Pierre to say out the basic details. He didn't need to say it further, for his involvement with the very situation was going to continue down the road.

Crud, was all that Iago Martensson said, as he tried to think of best ways to describe the high school prospect they did have in mind. Having seen the directions local talent have gone lately, Martensson knew this was going to happen at some point. For a small-market (relatively so, on Q-League level) side, Swanguard hasn't been the most aggressive of organisations to build up their prospects and the tiger parents knew that as well. Over time, some of the creme de la creme would find their trades either on collegiate level, where they would feel less binded to stay out in West Coast after graduation, or go to major clubs out east or in southwest.

Now, what's next? That's something Iago didn't exactly have the answer for. The past decade had seen Swanguard Athletic's front office, increasingly frustrated with Pierre's tactics, refusing to sign any academy prospect that had his name under the agent section. Now, especially as the organisation continued to plunder its riches and struggled to retool the rank of what's mostly aged-out core of their players, they were going to lose someone right on their backyard. Zinaida Woodcarver was someone who they always had on the radar from the age ten, but it was Elora Watkins and Paul Woodcarver who, for the sake of their daughter's education, had kept their only child away from the dangerous world of academy football. They had long planned to pitch her a nice case for a professional contract at age 18, or to sign her after college, but now the ship may have sailed.

'Well, it's straightforward. I'm surprised you didn't ask me earlier but-' Iago said.
'But no buts. We have no time for that. I'm only here in Prince Eric 'til the end of the week, so please stop wasting my time.'
'Alright then, so here we go...'

Fifteen years. Fifteen years and each time, he had no option but to keep the past from the Sang-go days fossilised. There were no other options for him, especially given that his options were limited and perhaps he may have made the internal decisions too early in life. But this time, Pierre McCarthy was feeling slightly different, as he was contemplating by the Jacuzzi tub installed into the bathroom of his suite at Northandryun Everett hotel. With each and every recollections, Pierre believed that it is never too late to rectify whatever the past had brought upon him, and give back.

As an agent who started from the bottom, Pierre knew very well about how much of a wild hunt chasing those prospects were. The tasks, almost befitting to the dogs' task of chasing cars out on the street, required Pierre to understand that the individuals he was handling were very much teenagers with their own lives. But still, while there remained the uncertain task of what laid ahead of him, Pierre could see the stars align before his eyes. He was being reminded of Gianmarco Del Prete, the notorious Ortelian midfielder whose talismanic presence had become notorious in Tikariot, and how the human determination was the best weapon to fix any course of events that may have gone wrong. With the reminder of such turn of events, the idea of being that lifelong mentor and agent to Elora's daughter, whom he was now sure of her talent, was more than enough to take the leap of faith.

As the water became warmer and he slowly fell into a lucid, dose-like REM state, Pierre McCarthy wondered what would be the blueprint he would have to think for her. There were always a couple of teams that were always delighted to bring a couple of major prospects from high school, but he wasn't sure which of the major teams were going to be convinced enough on Pierre's sales pitch, the one that did not require so much of metrics, but rather his acumen for talent better explained in words and genuine contours. Pierre knew he had to be careful, for anything other than a surefire would mean that he would be jeopardising a sixteen-year old's future career.

Fortunately, there were enough water to almost submerge Pierre. As he closed his eyes in the serenity, he became so immersed to the past life's thoughts that he could start recalling those present at his Senior Prom. The past life him would have tried to swim his way out of the nightmare that had become that April and May, but Pierre had since come to accept what's not really possible to change.

The Road Ahead

Valanora - After missing out the previous edition of Di Bradini Cup, PFA (Pemecutan Football Association) is ready to enter this edition of the event. Taking their replenished U-21 team, Pemecutan have no set of goal. Their first involvement in Di Bradini Cup was at 48th edition where they were only able to finished 5th at Group Stage marking their early exit. At the 49th edition, they were missing out the entry deadline which makes them absent from the competition. And here again, they entered for the second time.

For this edition, Head Coach, Gede Satrya Wibawa, called 23 players from all around the country. Some of the previous squad have to be replace as they are already above the eligible age. Wibawa also broaden his search by also considering players from the youngest state, Soracana Islands. As the result, 3 of the players are from the state. They are Jandibala Aksagida (Nilayam United), Yuhacana Bansora (Calugida FC.) and Duwanibala Padurbansa (Nilayam United). The last two are trusted to become the starting eleven. At this 50th edition, Pemecutan was drawn into Group B together with Geektopia, Pasarga and Tumbra.

Opening the competition, Pemecutan is facing Pasarga. Entering the match with no burden whatsoever, Pemecutan successfully steal 1 point from the match. The 3-3 result is like a soft breeze for the team to start the competition. Leo Olivando become the start after scoring 2 goals in the match with the third goal is scored by Komang Trisna Mahayana. For the next match, they will meet Geektopia. The team was lost in their first match against Tumbra.

Pratapgadh U21 Football Looking Good
Written By Rajeev Chauhan
Football

Metropolis, Ibini - The Under-21 football team from Pratapgadh, who was the Under-18 team from the ongoing RTC U18 World Cup till they were eliminated from the group stage, has been doing well in the Di Brandi Cup. The young guns first went up against Graintfjall, who they lost to by just one goal. Then they defeated Darmen in their second match by one goal and are currently second on the table with a record of 1-0-1. The current leader of Group D is Graintfjall, who won both their games and have already qualified for the Round of Sixteen. Both Darmen and New Old Forest are behind Pratapgadh and haven't won a single match yet. If Pratapgadh U21 hopes to qualify, then they must defeat New Old Forest in their next and final group match.

The first half of the match between Pratapgadh and Graintfjall was quite competitive without a single goal being scored. The Pratapgadhis had control over the ball for most of the match and with the 4-4-2 formation, Graintfjall found it difficult to get across the Pratapgadhi midfield. However, things went wrong for Pratapgadh in the second half as they gave two huge chances to Graintfjall and capitalised on one of them. Sara Kristoffersdóttir assisted Hanna Nicosdóttir with a lobbed pass and Hanna went on to score a goal for Graintfjall. With the scoreboard saying 0-1, the young guns of Pratapgadh knew they were gonna have to plough hard. For the rest of the second half, Pratapgadh kept up their good performance and kept hold of the ball. The Pratapgadhi side was more aggressive and looked for any opportunity to score a goal, but the Graintfjall side was too good. Later in the match, Reshmi Kapadia brought Sara Kristoffersdóttir down inside the penalty area. However, the referee didn't call it and then later gave the Graintfjall side the penalty. Sara Kristoffersdóttir went for the penalty and Musharraf Umrani luckily blocked the ball. It was too late for Pratapgadh to come back in the game and Graintfjall start their Di Brandi Cup journey with a win and Pratapgadh's hard work wasn't enough.

It was a nice sunny day at The Tar Pit with both teams hungry for a win. The match went in Pratapgadh's favour as they defeated Darmen by one goal. The match started with Pratapgadh having control over the ball for most of the first half, just like their match against Graintfjall. The Pratapgadhi midfield again came in handy as they formed an invisible wall which was hard for the Darmeni side to break through. Praveen Nerurkar became the first goalscorer for Pratapgadh in this edition of the Di Bradini Cup when he successfully broke through the Darmeni defence and score a goal for his team. At the end of the first half, Pratapgadh was leading by one goal. The Pratapgadhi kept up their play from the first half and hardly gave Darmen any chances to come back in the game. It was a clean match with no major tackles, just two teams playing good football. By the end, Darmen were unable to make a comeback and gave the win to Pratapgadh.

With that, Pratapgadh ended up second on the table, winning and losing a game each. They are in an ideal position right now with Graintfjall already qualified for the Round of Sixteen and playing their final match against Darmen. Pratapgadh will be facing New Old Forest, an easier opponent in my opinion and if they win this game, they are in for a ride in the Round of Sixteen. The Pratapgadhi defence is top-notch in my opinion and I believe our main national team should adopt a similar play. Their offence isn't bad but isn't great either and a few tweaks could help this side a lot. Overall, the Pratapgadh Under-21 football team and the future of Pratapgadhi football is looking good. Keep up the great work and I will hopefully get to write an article about Pratapgadh qualifying for the Round of Sixteen.

U21s switch things up in Valanora
by Fiona Devlin, National Soccer Writer

The FAC and the Commonwealth National Under-21 Team in particular have a well known affinity for this country where the DiBradini Cup is held; now in its 50th iteration as the World Cup for the ultimate level of youth soccer, it always attracts a top quality field, and Baker Park been among that number for nine editions since their multiverse debut.

Manager Liam Sullivan, who also led that original entry in DBC 42, made a choice to shake up the routine that has been followed since that debut quarterfinal run; as the Group C matches are being contested at Turmondale Grounds in Raynor City and on the island of Capri at the Rose Garden in Kareen, the usual training base at AS Sharala was impractical, although the party will make their traditional post-tournament stop for a meet & greet with the club's supporters clubs.

"Once the assignments for the group stage were made, we realized that it made no sense to commute from there (Sharala) 3 times. We'll be based on Capri, since the first & third matches will be here. Our friends at the club understand the situation, and we hope to resume training there next time."

On the playing front, the roster was reimagined to allow several additions promoted from the U18's to make the trip, and two new assistant coaches: Peter Harris and Fredrica Baptiste--join the youth staff. Sullivan also said he would be "scaling back" certain elements in the formation and tactical plan.

"Jen (Prescott, senior NT boss) and I thought this was a good spot to go back to square one, re-emphasize the core principles of the system. Pam (Scott, former NT manager) liked to disassemble and rebuild the playing style and get back to simpler concepts because you can get caught up in all of the adjustments, fine tuning, specific things you do against opponents and pretty soon the strengths of the base formation get lost."

Facing off against Delaclava, the defending DBC champions San Ortelio and the combined Vilita & Turori side, the Black & Gold will be tested both on the pitch & by the format as well, as the schedule has been cut by three days from it's normal duration.

The squad will revive the same kit worn by the senior team in the opening match of World Cup 80 against The Holy Empire, a replica design of the famous 1969 il Bombi shirts.

Tumbra (4-3-3): 1 - Ager; 2 - Ganley (19 - Finney, 85'), 4 - Krabb, 20 - Turnbull (14 - Legget, 69'), 3 - Crozier; 15 - Cahill, 8 - Tipple, 23 - McCormick; 7 - Reed, 9 - Kinzinger - inj (21 - Baker, 74'); 11 - Riordan

Scorers: Riordan (3', 66'), Kinzinger (70')

Pasarga (4-4-2): Kollár; Sinka, Vida (Erôss, 60'), Szölôsi, Kristiansen; López, Szánthó (Lörinc, 77'), Orsós, Pálffy; Magana, Csorba (Kocsis, 65')

Scorers: Magana (45' - pen), Sinka (63')

Player of the Match: Nick Riordan

HONDO - The Junior Eagles ran out 3-2 winners in another keenly contested match against Pasarga in the Di Bradini Cup, leaving the Junior Eagles top of the group with one match to go. The match against Pasarga was keenly-looked out for; it represented, by proxy, a rematch against a side that beat the senior side 2-3 in their first international outing. The result sees Tumbra finish top of the group, no matter what happens on the final matchday of the group stages; and they will face one of Baker Park, San Ortelio or Vilita and Turori in the round of 16, as the runners-up of Group C.

The game opened with Tumbra going on the attack almost immediately; with a lineup sporting three changes from the opening match against Geektopia, Cahill and McCormick playing deeper allowing Chris Tipple - well known for playing for Clyde Park in an effectively "free" midfield position - to roam around the pitch, filling in on an attacking or defending basis. The move confounded Pasargan defenders; in the end, Tipple largely managed to shake the Wanderers and was largely unencumbered for most of the game.

Taking advantage of the high-pressing Pasargan defence, Kinzinger sent a shot into the side of the net after the Tumbrans had dispossed the attacking Pasargans; perhaps a warning sign of what was to come. And indeed, the fabled first goal would come, with Kinzinger leaving Deli Sinka strung high and dry with a skilled dribble; the ball was crossed into Serrapince FC striker Nick Riordan, who was in the box; the clinical finisher finished the chance at short range, putting the Junior Eagles ahead after just three minutes.

Now, however, the Tumbrans would mistakenly try to sit back and withstand the Pasargan offence; nary a shot was made by the Tumbran offence as Tipple focused more on defending, along with Vince Cahill and Lucas McCormick. The defending stood up well, with few mistakes - and credit must be given to Thomas Krabb, the unofficial captain of the team (as per TFF policy, no official captains are named for junior sides) for marshalling the defence and ensuring that the goal remained at a stalemate until the first half ended.

Right before the end, however, Krabb's defensive partner John Turnbull tripped the electrifying Pasargan striker Eustacio Magana in the box; for his troubles, Turnbull was rightly awarded a yellow card and the Pasargans a penalty, which Magana duly put away past Ager, all while sending him the wrong way. The first half would end 1-1; clearly, a fair reflection of the standard of play, though the Pasargans could and probably did rightly feel aggrieved about not scoring more, given the Junior Eagles' propensity to sit back in the box and defend.

The second half threatened to turn out much the same way, if not for the Tumbrans showing a bit more attacking initiative; multiple attacks, however, mostly spearheaded by Jack Reed, were dented by the Pasargan defensive partnership of Markus Vida and Mozes Szölôsi; who, despite not being the first choice centreback partnership for the Young Wanderers, were proving every bit as solid for them as their first-choice defence.

Pasarga would score again, from a corner this time - the left back Sinka, earlier embarrassed by Kinzinger, would grab one for his team and put the Wanderers ahead for the first time all match. Perhaps incensed by failures by Turnbull to properly fulfill his defensive duties; he would soon be pulled off for Albert Legget.

Riordan, however, just three minutes later, received the ball from Tipple in a key midfield position; he would then carry the ball past the defenders, showing another magnificent piece of dribbling hardly betraying his age; with the composure and maturity of a striker ten years younger, he would bring the Junior Eagles level once more, emphatically celebrating in front of the small but yet sizable crowd gathered at the Raynor Memorial.

Kinzinger would follow up quickly with the all-decisive third goal, cutting in instead of shooting from the wing; however, he would later be stretchered off, injured, in the seventy-fourth minute, and replaced by FC Inter Nantwich winger Richard Baker; while an adequate substitute, the dimunitive, explosive winger never really troubled the Pasargan defence with his runs. For the remaining twenty or so minutes of the game, Tumbra would dominate; only the presence of their starting defender, Szescõ Erôss, prevented Riordan from breaking through and completing his hat-trick; nevertheless, he, who was later voted Player of the Match, would be happy with his brace. It was, as most football games were, a game of two halves; Pasarga dominated the first and Tumbra the second, and was a classic display of back-and-forth football.

Tumbra faces Pemecutan in the last group stage game, once again played in Hondo; while the Pasargans play the perhaps-unorthodox Geektopians in their last group stage match in Turbani as they seek to rescue their ailing campaign, the Pasargans needing Pemecutan to either lose or draw to the Tumbrans to guarantee an entry into the next round proper. For their part, Pemecutan drew their second match against Geektopia, leaving them with two points; a back-and-forth battle is once again guaranteed, though whether Tom Kinzinger will be back in time for that match is in question. Tumbran U-21 manager Edmund Finnegan dismissed complaints of a serious injury, saying that Kinzinger would be fine for at least their Round of 16 match; an earlier recovery was likely but he was likely more to "err on the side of caution" and play Baker against Pemecutan.

STUBBORN HOOPS STRETCH AWAY FROM FARFADILLIS
KOVACEVIC ONCE AGAIN GETS MYTANIJA ON THEIR WAY; FORWARDS FINISH IT OFF SOON AFTER

by Irma Simunec

FARFADILLIS 0-3 MYTANIJA
FFD: none
MYT: Kovacevic 47’, Prinelec 56’, Gannot 60’ (pen)

FFD: 1. Defigueroa; 2. Bêrndèvôî, 4. rue Cazade, 6. Norat; 3. Nørgaard (sub. Reason 67’), 5. Thorsen; 8. Vlaisavljević, 7. Xüwân (sub. Subercaseaux 71’), 10. Marajis; 9. Rigozsoldos (sub. Latheleanódi 45’), 11. Jíí

MYT: 1. Besak; 2. Bajalica, 3. Mbala-Ekakia, 4. Kovacevic, 5. Spiridonovic (sub. Svensek 62’); 6. Kurtcehajic, 7. Ocokoljic (sub. Aganovic 82’), 18. Dresevic; 21. Golodkovsky; 9. Gannot (c) (sub. Alagic 62’), 11. Prinelec

This Mytanija team were perhaps not as heralded as some of their predecessors at under-21 level, there is no talent like Jezdimir Ocokoljic or Alen Hrdaljko in the line-up, but they have a workmanlike quality and stubbornness which makes them extremely compelling to watch. Farfadillis are one of the strongest countries in multiversal football at the moment, the senior team is ranked 4th and their joint-league with Banija boasts some of the greatest club sides too. There’s a reason why Tahir Fejzuli decided to go and ply his trade for Mâ Âlâmëómë after all. This Mytanar team were impressive defensively during the first-half, all sticking to their tasks to stifle the Farf attack, but they always retained a threat going the opposite way and particularly from set-pieces where Kovacevic and Mbala-Ekakia once again caused panic. In a fifteen minute flurry at the start of the second period this threat went up a gear and Mytanija were incisive, pressing and harrying to force errors and then seizing upon them expertly.

It was a different type of performance than that which you would normally expect from an Adem Fejzic team, the possession statistics weren’t overly impressive for either team, Farfadillis shading that battle 52% to 48%. What Fejzic had seemingly instructed his players to do was to go man-to-man against Farfadillis’ two strikers and three attacking midfielders. Kurtcehajic was like a limpet following the takilante Tè Xüwân around the pitch. Dusko Ocokoljic and Pierre Dresevic (the latter not being overly known for his defensive commitment) dropped deep and congested the central areas so that the ball couldn’t get into the feet of either Rigozsoldos or Jíí whilst Vuk Bajalica and Antun Spiridonovic were always in close proximity to Vlaisavljević and Marajis down the flanks too. This often left Nørgaard and Thorsen bereft of options and when the Farf full-backs ventured forward they were well-tracked by the perpetually energetic Damien Gannot, Lazar Prinelec and Olivier Golodkovsky. Fejzic’s decision to go man-to-man was a risky one, if Farfadillis executed their attacks as they would have wanted it could have been a disaster, but Mytanija were always there and in their one-on-one duels they were the better team.

During the first-half Mytanija lacked the precision needed when they regained possession and were often out of shape because of the man-to-man defensive marking, it meant that they couldn’t quite construct attacks as they would have liked. Gannot, Prinelec and Golodkovsky were very good at winning free-kicks inside the Farfadillis half though and this was once again a fruitful way to create chances for Mytanija. Golodkovsky and Dresevic delivered some really promising crosses from these free-kicks, Kovacevic giving Farfadillis a warning on the half-hour mark with a glancing header which went just over the crossbar. Defigueroa had been scrambling, probably beaten, but it was a warning Farfadillis failed to heed. Mbala-Ekakia went close from Dresevic’s ball in a few minutes later and it seemed to be something Mytanija could use to their advantage if only they could actually take one of the opportunities presented to them. Kovacevic and Mbala-Ekakia are both very tall and physically strong and they can impose themselves from corners and free-kicks. Amar Kovacevic’s excellent defending also forced the 16 year old Eötrenois Rigozsoldos off at half-time, the East Railway central defender hadn’t given the youngster a sniff throughout the first-half and Lele Manguele perhaps wisely hooked him. Rigozsoldos will be an excellent striker, but he was up against Kovacevic, three years older than him and looked to be about a foot taller in height too.

Kovacevic used all of that height in scoring the game’s opener, beating Blaise rue Cazade in the air and steering his header beyond Rogerio Defigueroa. Olivier Golodkovsky had won the initial free-kick and put in a delicious delivery, it really was begging for someone to get on the end of it and the big East Railway centre-back did so to put Mytanija 1-0 up inside the first two minutes of the second-half. Mytanija were physical in each duel and the man-to-man marking seemed to put Farfadillis off their stride a little, with each Mytanar defender having a nibble each time their opponent had the ball. Vuk Bajalica and Zijad Kurtcehajic soon received yellow cards for their troubles. Just under ten minutes after the first goal this pressing created Mytanija’s second, Damien Gannot was closing Norat down out on the right and managed to stick a foot in to dispossess the Avenida Principal defender. Gannot stormed away and then drew rue Cazade into him before squaring for Lazar Prinelec to smash home 2-0. Fejzic and the Mytanar coaching staff could be seen celebrating wildly on the sideline, pressing the full-backs apparently something they had worked on prior to this game.

It was only four minutes later when Mytanija finished the game off, once again it was their pressing which they had to thank for the goal. This time it was Lazar Prinelec hustling Éskïr Bêrndèvôî, pinching the ball off his toes and then being dragged down as he entered the penalty area. Bêrndèvôî didn’t have much complaint over the foul, Prinelec celebrated winning the penalty and handed the ball to his strike partner and captain Damien Gannot. Gannot hit the ball hard down to the goalkeeper’s left and the coaching staff were once again in raucous celebration as the ball hit the back of the net. A 3-0 lead against one of the strongest footballing nations in the multiverse, even if it was the under-21 team, was definitely something to be pleased about. Winning the tactical battle so strongly was definitely cause for celebration. It also allowed Adem Fejzic to withdraw Damien Gannot and Antun Spiridonovic, both exiting a mere two minutes after the penalty went in. Gannot now has 10 goals in 7 DBC appearances, this is definitely a competition he likes to play in.

The real tale of the tournament thus far for Mytanija is probably the team’s defensive prowess though, two clean sheets and not all that many shots given up against very strong opposition. Semir Besak has only had to make three saves so far in the DBC and the partnership of Amar Kovacevic and Bigger Mbala-Ekakia is very promising. Lev Repin will be looking ahead at the future of Mytanija’s defence and believe that these two could be a very important part of it. It helps that they can both affect the game in the opposition box too, something Mytanija haven’t always done since returning to the international scene. Mojmir Anac has been the team’s only real consistent threat, but in Kovacevic and Mbala-Ekakia it appears we could well have two more.

This victory sent Mytanija through to the knockout stages, but the game against Sylestone will decide the team’s positioning within the group and with that which team they will face in the round of sixteen. Mytanija will play the team that finishes second in Group F if they win the group, that would currently be Prinz-Eugens-Land, but if they end up second then they will likely have to play our Rushmori rivals Eura. That would be a tough tie at any level, but Mytanija could be relatively confident with how they would do given their current form in this tournament. Adem Fejzic is expected to make nine or ten changes to his team for the Sylestone game. The whole defence is set to be rested, along with Zijad Kurtcehajic, Dusko Ocokoljic and Lazar Prinelec. Neven Hjik may come back into the team and Pasha Secujac will be given his first minutes of the tournament, he’s expected to get the full 90 minutes as both Gvetadze and Golodkovsky have so far. Young Aganovic is also expected to be given a chance to start a game. Damien Gannot and Semir Besak will remain though, both have played in both of the first two games though Gannot’s minutes have been managed as the first two games have been secured. Fejzic knows Gannot can be a talismanic presence though and the player himself will want to keep up his outstanding scoring record in this competition too, if he can do it on the way to securing top spot in the group then that will be all the better.

Boot It!: Aiming For 1-1-1 Again?!

Postby TJUN-ia » Sat Apr 10, 2021 8:58 am

By Peter Davis

After an entertaining 4-4 draw with Kriegiersien kicked off our DBC, the Young Jaguars of TJUN-ia were back in Ianisle's Lathal ready to face one of the old gods of football in the form of Eura. The EFA didn't really take this competition seriously in the past but after failing to qualify for the last WC, you'd better believe that they were now with a new coaching staff ready to try and make sure the disaster known as WC87 doesn't happen again.

Clearly, Margaret liked our 4-4 draw last time out, because this contest would be another goalfest for the neutrals to lap up. Eura was certainly a force to be reckoned with in this contest and they started things off strongly, with Travis Vivier blasting past Sputnik Brykilawa twice within the first 20 minutes. This team was certainly good but TJUN-ia didn't give up, with Max van Oosterend find space to fire past Tom Hammond in the 43rd to give the Jags some hope entering the 2nd half. That hope would continue once the players returned to the pitch as Yomakaji Shimigatsu tied up this contest almost straight from kickoff, but Eura was always good at putting dreams to bed and once Ed Clarke came on, things would be put to bed soon enough. Clarke would score a goal for himself in the 67th before he provided Vivier with his hattrick goal in the 78th and while substitute Jackson Smith-Scott provided hope of another comeback in the 87th, it wasn't to be as Eura booked their spot to the knockouts.

We criticised PvO for going through at 1-1-1 last time out but now, we actually do need 1-1-1 in order to advance at all. Strange how things turn out sometimes. Our fate rests in our final game against Prinz-Eugens-Land. GO JAGS!

Miao Otterdottir continues to guide the Young Otters forward!

Before the game, Miao Otterdottir made one change. Opspore Kawauso in for Konfiti Ota.

29 YELLOW CARD! Vid Otterra is booked for pulling on Unknown's shirt.
39 GOAL! Garbelia play a brilliant passing movement, with Fet Ezoud and Opspore Kawauso exchanging swift passes, then Kawauso's chipped ball is met with Ote Vydra's cushioned header into the path of Steorian Barnes, who volleys into the bottom corner.
- Half Time ~ 1-0 -
45 SUBSTITUTION: Furretto De Vydra on for Nutria Huron
45 SUBSTITUTION: Unknown on for Unknown
56 SO CLOSE! Opspore Kawauso spies the run of Ote Vydra and chips the ball forward, but the striker's attempted cutback to Udar Otti is deflected, and bounces wide of the post.

85 SUBSTITUTION: Lontra Gatto on for Loutre Avia.
90 INJURY TIME! 5 minutes added on.
- Full Time ~ 1 - 0 -

Player Ratings for Garbelia:
10/10 Opspore Kawauso, Ote Vydra
9/10 Steorian Barnes, Lutra Vydra, Nutria Huron
8/10 Otterata Otto, Fet Ezoud
7/10 L'utra Zeeotter, Konfiti Ota, Vid Otterra, Nutria Huron, Lutra Vydra
4/10 Udar Otti, Lontra Gatto

Player of the match: Opspore Kawauso

Miao Ottodottir continued to reinvent the idea of Garbelery football, as the team saw out an exciting 1-0 victory having had 73% possession and not allowed the opposition any shots on target. Several players continued to make a case for a call up to the first team, with a solid all-round display. This win means the Otters move to first, with a potentially group-deciding clash against region-mates Kannap. At this stage, Garbelia progress if they win or draw, or if they lose and Cassadaigua lose or draw.

Miao Otterdottir has said that Opspore Kawauso will remain a starter, and possibly be taking an AMR role, with Udar Otti dropped and Barnes moved to the centre, so both midfielders can remain, shifting the team closer to a 4-2-2-2 role.

In other Garbelery sporting news:
Lutri Ottodottir scrapes through the first round of the Forestian Chess Championships.
The Garbelery domestic cricket season begins, with young international fast bowler Catto Mog taking 4 wickets in the first game of the season.
The GFA have denied allegations of corruption surrounding the appointment of Graintfjaller Sigtryggur Brynjólfursson, and dismissed rumours of an impending sack.
Leaked papers show that defensive youth team manager Miao Otterdottir and Lutra Scratchington are on the shortlist for Brynjólfursson's replacement.

Schedule:
MD 1: Garbelia 1 - 0 Cassadaigua W, Garbelia second in the group
MD 2: Island of the Lost 0 - 1Garbelia W, Garbelia first in the group
MD3: Garbelia V Kannap

It was a fiery second game for the Snow Pups, who wanted to rebound from their indifferent start to the tournament, with a grudge match against regional rivals Darmen. The senior Snow Wolves have played Darmen twice in the Copa Rushmori and won both times, so there was pressure on the Snow Pups to prove they could follow suit. Sara Kristoffersdóttir burst out of the blocks and soon began peppering the Darmen goal with long range efforts, including a magnificent 25 yard curler just tipped over the bar, and a closer effort blasted off the keeper’s hands onto the post and cleared messily off the line. Against such an onslaught Darmen could not hold out forever and sure enough, after establishing herself as a threat to shoot from anywhere, Sara drew enough markers to her to open up opportunities around her. A nice through ball found Emilia Hrafnþórsdóttir with plenty of time to slot home with her left foot. In the second half, the Snow Pups kept up the frenetic pace, and although their attacks ended in shots blazing over the bar more often than troubling the keeper, eventually they found the net, again through a Sara – Emilia combo, the midfielder setting up the striker for her second goal with an audacious lob over the defense that allowed Emilia to run in and tap home the ball under the sprawling keeper. Troublingly, the aggression showed led to three Snow Pups players being sent off – Úranus Þorgeirsson, Freysteinn Orrason, and substitute Valtter Marvinsson, all of whom will in accordance with KG protocols miss the final group stage match against Old New Forest. But even when reduced to 8 players in the final moments of the game the relentless Snow Pups continued to surge on goal and Hanna Nicosdóttir had the final kick of the game palmed away off the line.

Team Personality
The Darmeni team will never argue with the referee. Indeed, if anything needs to be brought to the attention of the referee it will be done by either the Captain or Vice-Captain in a respectful manner (or to the fourth-official by the Manager). With regards to foul/dirty play, the Darmeni team will not provoke, or retaliate against any opposition player. Darmeni's expect each team to keep to itself and deal with its own trouble makers; any opposition player who attempts to prevent a conflict by pushing or pulling a Darmeni away from the scene will be promptly told off, as that is the duty of the Darmeni Captain.

Nonetheless, Darmen will play in a relatively aggressive manner. Tackles will be conducted in a way which ensures the opponent ends up on the ground, but causing injury will be avoided as much as possible. On set pieces, Darmenis will stand their ground and will not be easily pushed around, they will not however engage in hugging. In fact, if any opposing player tries to push past them, it is not uncommon for the Darmeni player to feign resistance before simply stepping aside and watching as the opposing player stumbles past on their way to ground. This occasionally backfires however, as the referee may mistake the incidence as having been a foul in the box.

RekanSport
DBC50 Match 2: Elimination
By Ljubomira Jewrić

With a loss being potentially fatal to the Rekan DBC effort, the Rekan attack was sharpened this time around. Iwan Bartsch dribbled for his life down his corner of the box and played games with two opponents before his low rolling shot succeeded. Street ball tactics were not needed for Star Dew and Arcane Blaze to dominate Equestria's left side and equalize. Defensively the flanks were a trouble spot for our nation the entire matchup. Jan Mayer ran himself ragged in under an hour, and captain Djordjewić was sucking wind by the end of the game. Cross quality was down as well. It's hard to play tough against equestrians, for obvious reasons, but Yousef Iwanić get himself a yellow card for his aggressive play, and was lucky to avoid a second. The game was still tight however. Progressively motioning to the box and passing short helped allow Tagaginow Djordjić score his first U-21 goal. Djordjić was a tricky player all day, and defenders could not mark him reliably due to the distances he could play from. As the opening half was winding down, momentum lurched away from Zeta Reka when Sara Valestein clinically finished in the box. Condottiere's young duchess broke away from the high Rekan line and shot around Wlad Dušanić.

Minutes into the second half, Light Aurora added a goal to a scorecard that already marked her down for an assist. Aurora took advantage of bad buildup play, took the ball before the battle line could rise. Star Dew got possession, and after our defense was drawn Star Dew passed the ball back to the open Unicorn. Coach Petarić began to tinker with the side after this by removing Jan Mayer and Thorben Aleksander for Tomić and Mirowić. Zoran Tomić really clamped down on the defense, acting mainly as a third center back, but he did try to move the ball upwards. A corner was awarded to Zeta Reka, and Iwan Bartsch kicked short to K.A. Stewanowić. The Winnipeg United youngster got a goal in the far right corner by just a hair. Late into the matchup Andrej Jehu got his second cap of the tournament. The use of another physical defender was intended to lock up a draw. How disappointed was the Football Federation then in Petarić's tactics when substitute Angel Wings flew on her feet? Little miss Wings took control of a long ball to score past a diving Dušanić. A stoppage time equalizer was possible from a stellar Stewanowić run, but his shot found Midnight Merlot's extended leg.

"A tremendous disappointment" was how Joko Petarić described his team's performance and his tactics. Zeta Reka enters her final matchup out of the tournament, and against another opponent with no wins. The unbreakable Rekan defense has been hit by more goals than any other team in the tournament. Even in defeat, the good news was that the side's three main attacking positions got on the board in this matchup. Perhaps the resumes of the young men and woman on the squad could be restored with a big win against Sarzonia. "Do us proud" national team member Jan Thimig said on social media, "we always get points in a group in the end" he added.

Postby Sylestone » Sat Apr 10, 2021 2:53 pm

In DBC 49, two matchdays in, Sylestone's Under-21 Football Team were 1-1-0 and had a shot at progression into the knockout stages. However, a loss to Cassadaigua saw them slump to third with a 1-1-1 record and Sylestone's apparent U-21 golden age ended with an anticlimax. The likes of Rose Fleetwood, Cameron Keyes, Charlie Barrett and many more were gone without an impact.
However, two years later, a repeat is looking imminent. On Matchday One, a shock 2-0 win against a strong Farfadillis side put Sylestone in second place on the table, behind Mytanija, who drummed Quebec 4-0. Harrison Gilchrist and Harry Love, two players who also played in DBC 49, scored both goals with captain Amelia Stanton assisting both. Her cool head was pivotal in the win as there were many times where Farfadillis looked like they might take a lead, especially early on. But when Gilchrist and Love scored, five minutes apart from each other in the 71st and 76th minutes respectively, Farfadillis was taken out of the game in one of the biggest upset wins of the round.
On Matchday Two, Sylestone's U-21s consolidated second place with a 2-2 draw against Quebec. It was another good game, with neither side dominating for the entirety of the match. It was another surprise result; many expected Sylestone's win over Farfadillis was simply a one-off, but a draw against the Quebecois may make opposition sides slightly more cautious.
Leif Tannenbaum from Quebec opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a header from a corner that flew past Jameson in goals, but Riley Strathfield wasn't having any of it. Two minutes later, in the 35th minute, he ran up the left-wing like lightning before moving in towards the corner of the box. He shot and with serious skill, curved the ball away from a diving Sandra Middleton in goals to equalise.
Harrison Gilchrist gave his side a 2-1 lead after half time in the 52nd minute when Cedrick Rohrmayer fouled him in the box just when he was shooting for goal. Handed the penalty, he slotted it in, years of practice from set-pieces coming out with one swift movement. Sylestone were 2-1 up and the knockout stages looked an imminent prospect.
But not if Tannenbaum had anything to do with it. In the 85th minute, he equalised with a shot from a clusterfuck in the penalty box which just scraped past Jameson's outstretched hand. So the match ended in a tight, 2-2 draw.
All Sylestone now need is a singular point against Mytanija, a side who hasn't dropped a point in two outings against Quebec and Farfadillis. In the likely case they lose, a Quebec win may put Sylestone's hopes in jeopardy, but a Quebecois draw or loss to Farfadillis will ensure Sylestone progress, even if they get smashed 15-0 by Mytanija. Let's be honest, it's looking quite likely.

Dear editor,

For too long, San Ortelio seemed to be afraid to show its colors across the multiverse but at last – and, according to my opinion, in part due to the positive influence of the movement** and its promotion for love and belief in our own motherland – the blue-and-white escaped its shell. It is now three years since Ortelian sportsmen partake in international competition and it has been a great source of joy for me to see their performances. With it came glory at times but also, as is the nature of sport, defeat. Yet, to fill my heart with pride for our nation, it was not the result that needed to go our way, it was our boys and men showcasing our flag and our values.

Who can forget the double confrontation for a spot in the World Cup? It is true, our Del Prete, our Lanzafame and our Garofalo got measured and ended up too short against the might of the Commonwealth of Baker Park. Nonetheless, they were lauded internationally for their courage and fighting spirit. They battled like Ortelians, without fear but with grit and honor. The most beautiful thing about this is not just that they showcase our ideals against the adversaries across Rushmore but that they inspire our youngsters to develop themselves into the true Ortelian spirit.

As such, a repetition of the same duel against Baker Park, this strong opponent and beacon of sportsmanship, by our under 21 selection was one to look forth towards. However, it became a disappointment and I had to turn off my television set with a few minutes left on the clock. Was it the 1-3 result which angered me? Of course not! A small nation as ours must accept that at times more experienced opponents manage to outwit us – if only we learn from it. But with ten minutes left, manager (or should I say, mismanager?) Ricci decided to retreat Luca Cadili for Angelo Cotillard.

An abomination, no less.

Has this very newspaper not decried the cowardly, unpatriotic gesture from Cotillard, this traitor of our values? Flying a flag which not only is a different one than our beautiful
Cinque Stelle*** but forms a mockery, a violation to it and everything it stands for. We don’t need no foreign symbols to replace our flag! At least I had hoped that the staff would recognize the insubordination of this young man, his disdain for the country that nurtured him. But no, it is clear that Ricci misses the backbone to discipline his team. No surprise, considering the fact that he selected a sympathizer**** of the pseudo-terroristic PRIND***** organization.

And so, I must admit that I cannot be bothered what the result will be in the final group game against Delaclava – and I hope this very paper joins me by ignoring its result – as we have already lost. As, when we lose our pride and confidence in our colors, have we not lost the most importing thing?

*Il Stampa Nationale originally started as a spin-off of the right-wing Patriota movement but has now sufficient readers to be considered as a tier two daily newspaper.
**A reference to the aforementioned Patriota movement. Started about twenty years ago as a promotor of the Ortelian dialect and culture, it now has a political wing in the PPP.
***The nickname of the flag most pushed by the nationalist movement. The five stars reference the five regions which constitute the country.
****This points towards Nkechi Orjee. He did play for the football club PRIND Razzi, a football club part of the PRIND movement, before turning professional with SSD Borgonovo – a notably left-wing club. PRIND, short for something which roughly translates to ‘For the Protection of our Rights’, tries to promote the rights and culture of the Kitaran minority in the country. In a few villages near the border, they form a majority. Whilst there is no legal gap between a Kitaran Ortelian and any other citizen, they are still discriminated in practice.
*****The PRIND movement officially focusses on cultural promotion and anti-discriminatory actions. However, there have been some mock-up attacks – by example paint bombs – which have been executed under its logo. The official leaders of PRIND have denied any connection with these attacks.

San Ortelio, your favorite pseudo-Italian, coastal microstate. Less than half a million inhabitants who stand for a rich culture, are governed
by an delicate yet marvellously balanced system and remain economically viable due to fishing and funky tax laws.
But enough about us. Come vai?

We're no international threat, so have our domestic thread.

It's Anyone's Game
By Rami Niblick in Ibini, Valanora

TWO games gone, and, as expected, Group E is on a knife-edge. Not only has nobody been eliminated, but of the six possible permutations of who goes through, only HUElavia-Juvencus has been counted out. Here's your guide on the potential permutations.

Krytenia win + Juvencus win
Krytenia will be assured of qualification with victory over Kohnhead; a Juvencus win will see both sides level on five points, and with both teams starting the matchday on zero goal difference, the group winner decided by which team does the better job.

Krytenia win + draw
This does Kohnhead a massive favour. Though defeat would mean the Dragons overtake them to win the group, if Juvencus-HUElavia is a draw then the Moderately Sized Brains (...really? That's their nickname? - Ed) will advance in second place. Juvencus would also have the added pain of going out of the competition undefeated.

Krytenia win + HUElavia win
This is where things get a smidgen foggy. Not for Krytenia, mind, as the win is still enough; but a HUElavia victory would put them level on points with Kohnhead. A two-goal victory for either Krytenia or HUElavia swings the goal difference in the Amarillos' favour, whilst a pair of one-goal wins means it'll be time to dust off the slide rule.

Draw + Juvencus win
Kohnhead just need to avoid defeat to go through, so a draw suits them fine; a Juvencus win on the other side of the fixture list, meanwhile, leaves the Primavera top of the group.

Draw + draw
You'd imagine nothing would change, right? Well, not quite. Yes, it means Kohnhead are top and HUElavia bottom, but Krytenia are currently equal on every tiebreaker bar goals scored, so it will depends on how many goals are in the relevant matches. Krytenia have a single goal leg-up in that regard though.

Draw + HUElavia win
Possibly the biggest heartbreak for the Dragons is this combination. If this happens, it's Krytenia who go home without tasting defeat, one point behind HUElavia and two behind the - you know what, let's shorten that to MSBs.

Kohnhead win + Juvencus win OR Kohnhead win + draw
A Kohnhead victory puts Krytenia out and Kohnhead top, regardless of other results. A Juvencus victory in the other match puts them second on five points; a draw keeps them second, on a more meagre three.

Kohnhead win + HUElavia win
The winless (at least in this scenario) Juvencus and Krytenia would both be chasing their postcards out of the country if this happens; the Amarillos, meanwhile, would be happily advancing to the round of sixteen in second spot.

The short version, for Krytenia at least, is simple; beat Kohnhead and advance. Let's hope they can put some doubts to rest and do that; otherwise, there'll be some very short nails around the country. Onward!

Almanac of Chromatik Districts/Islands
Chromatika is composed of seven different political divisions: Five Districts and Two Islands. The five districts are Capital, Coastal, Deprí, Heartland, and Mountain; the two islands are Myana and Urrhed. Let us take a deep dive into these political subdivisions, in no particular order.

Coastal District
Heartland District

Myana Island

1. General Information
Population: 2,285,516 (11.43%)
Myana: 1,358,987
Eyrods: 641,786
Inon: 87,421
Egren: 51,476
Limonte: 21,276
Other Locations: 124,567
Capital: Myana
District Commissioner: Benjamin Michaelson (Rainbow Party)

2. Location
Located off the southeast coast of the main island, Myana Island is one of the two bigger islands off the coast of Chromatika. It looks like a drawn-out letter u. The weather is a bit milder temperature wise but the win can cause a bit of havoc at times.

3. Historical Information
Pre-Revolution: Myana Island has always been a place of naval might for Chromatika. The Chromatik Party kept most of Chromatika's navy on this island, including the nation's shipbuilding industry. Chromatik fleets patrolled the nation's southern waters and kept people from leaving as well as arriving. Other than that, Myana Island was reserved for more of the working elite, with most of the population being from the Blue, Indigo, and Violet colors of the Chromatik Party's caste system.

During the Revolution: The Rainbow Revolution gained a massive coup when Admiral Penelope Angelica Mier joined General Carvani. The turn of the Admiral of the First Fleet to the Revolution's cause led to over 70% of the personnel defecting, which made the taking of the Chromatik Navy a much easier job than it could've been. Once they gained control of the waters, the Revolution was able to keep a pulse on what items were coming in and out of the country and keep the Chromatik Party from getting any reinforcements of both personnel and supplies. If it wasn't for the swift taking of Myana, things could've been far more difficult.

Post-Revolution: Myana Island still remains the seat of the country's naval power, though part of the fleets have been split off to Urrhed Island, Deprí District, and Heartland District as well. Myana has also done a decent job at encouraging the fishing industry as well as maritime recreational businesses. Myaners are hard-working, proud folk who see themselves as being different from those from the main Chromatik island, and are fond of reminding people of the difference. This pride is a double-edged sword as it has led to some disputes in the Chromatik government's politics but also helped the island rise to its feet.

4. Major Cities
Myana is the second biggest city in the nation, the biggest port city, the naval headquarters, and the second biggest fishing town in all of Chromatika. It is also a major tourist attraction and the capital of the island. A city that is half composed of docks and the waterfront, Myana is the nation's pristine example of a maritime city and is aware of it. Myaners are proud folk who make a point to devote themselves to hard work.

Eyrods is one of the strangest cities in the country. One of the unexplained phenomenon of Chromatika is the climate of Eyrods, that of being located in a temperate jungle that encompasses the eastern half of the island. It's been proven that this has to do with The Enlightened from the other plane, but scientists are still interested. Eyrods is the zoological capital of Chromatika, and the Eyrodii that inhabit it are appreciative of wildlife and have learned to coexist with it. The city is at the coast, while the jungle lies at the southern end.

Inon is a fishing village and the place to be where you want to go charter fishing. Bass fishing, tuna fishing, crabbing, deep sea fishing... The small town does it all. It's also known as a good place to go surfing and to get away from the busy life of the city.

Egren is another small coastal town that is situated around a marine observatory. The Egren Maritime Institute is a nonprofit research laboratory that looks toward the maritime health of Chromatika's waters and is well-funded by the Chromatik government and universities that send researchers to the institute.

Limonte is a small town that is known for its panoramic views. Though the town has a population of barely 20,000, it can hold up to 100,000 in the summer due to its location of being hear some rolling hills as well as the beach being only a half hour away. It is a vacation and resort town.

5. Demographics
The Myana Island is one of the most diverse districts in all of Chromatika, with the "other" population (not Eastern European, not East Asian) being more than 30%. The Myana and Urrhed Islands are a huge part of why French is one of the official languages of the country. The population of ht eIsland at large remains 37% Other, 33% East Asian, and 30% Eastern European.

6. Sports Clubs
Football
Red League: Myana (2 time 1st Division Champions)
Orange League: Anchors FC, Eyrods
Yellow League: Egren, Eyrods City FC, Fishermen's Club (Egren), Limonte
Green League: Inon, Naval FC (Myana)
Blue League: Inon City
Indigo League: Green State (Eyrods), Limonte Light

Myana is one of the consistently strong teams in the Red League every season, always contending for the title. There was a time that both Anchors and Eyrods were in the mix, but they're in the ORange League for now.

Baseball
Myana Merfolk
Eyrods Pilots

Both the Merfolk and the Pilots are not very good at the sport, never having made the playoffs.

Basketball
Eyrods Saints
Myana Roughriders

The Roughriders aren't good, but the Saints have won two CBA titles.

Myana Penguins
Inon Neon

The Penguins had a dismal showing in the only season of hockey so far, while the Neon have had a bit better luck.

Gridiron Football
None.

Overall, the strength of Myana and Eyrods as sporting cities make them one of the strongest sporting districts/islands in the nation.

Vilita & Turori victorious over Delaclava but still face Group C Peril on MD3

Rose Gardens, Kareen, Capri, Valanora :: The Vilita and Turori Little Eel Kitties arrived after the short journey from Raynor City to the island of Capri with very minimal time to prepare ahead of a critical Matchday 2 fixture against Delaclava. Both Delaclava and Vilita and Turori had suffered defeats on the opening matchday of competition and a second defeat for either side - or even a draw between them, could spell an early end to the competition for which ever team(s) failed to collect all three points.

Before the match even had a chance to kick off, however, there was something else that had to be decided for the Vilita and Turorian side. Little Eel Kitties Head Coach and head of Vilita and Turori Player Development Purapal Eskiiy had to decide who would be the starting goalkeeper for the match. Turori's Derizi Amatopa was widely expected to be an ever-present in goal for the Vilita & Turori Under-21 squad for the cycle but after conceding four goals against defending Di Bradini Cup champions San Ortelio in the opener, Eskiiy made no secret of the fact that a chance could be coming along. The obvious choice to replace Amatopa seemed to be the experienced Cocoabo #86 of Turori's National Cocoabo Squad who had more all-time internationstatal appearances than the Vilita and Turori Under-21 sides other two goalkeepers combined. Instead, however, Eskiiy made the surprising decision to hand the starting gloves to the unproven youngster Zelkki Milake Jr. who at 16 years of age was getting their very first taste of any internationstatal competition.

Once the lineup was submitted, Eskiiy and the Little Eel Cat Things were committed. Many fans of Vilita and Turori questioned the decision especially considering how much was on the line. Anything short of three points on the day for Vilita and Turori would result in their effective elimination from the 50th Di Bradini Cup and even three points alone would not necessarily be enough to ensure the Little Eel Kitties reclaimed control of their own destiny heading into the final matchday. The primary reason was due to the -3 goal differential that Vilita and Turori were burdened with after the sour performance they put up in the opener.

This time around things would be different for Purapal Eskiiy's Little Eel-Kitties. Lentali Purama - one of the most experienced players on the pitch, put Vilita & Turori in the lead just five minutes into the match and they wouldn't look back from there. Just over ten minutes later Khrusan Mlianko would double the Jungle Cats advantage and all the momentum had shifted firmly behind the Little Eel Kitties. Eskiiy urged the team to continue pressing in search of more goals in hopes of pulling even on Goal Differential. Coming away with a +3 or +4 from the match would go a massive distance in allowing Vilita & Turori to control their own fate on the final matchday. Unfortunately it was not to be. The young Milake Jr. would make just one careless mistake all day on their debut but it would cost Vilita & Turori a goal. While Narri Sebapilo would get that goal back for the Little Eel Kitties just past the hour mark, it still meant that Vilita & Turori - even in victory - were still entering the last game of the group stage with a negative goal differential and with a sizable mountain still to climb if they were to have any hopes of advancing through to the Round of 16 and keeping alive their dreams of becoming the first Vilitan Cove side to be crowned Under-21 Champions in over sixty cycles.

Despite the victory over Delaclava - Vilita and Turori found themselves no closer to a spot in the Round of 16. In the other Group C match back at the Turmondale Ground, Baker Park surprisingly pulled out a comfortable victory over the defending Di Bradini Cup Champions, defeating San Ortelio by a score of 3-1. While mathematically no team has been eliminated from contention yet in Group C, the betting odds are fairly comfortable for current 1-2 sitters Baker Park and San Ortelio. Even if Vilita and Turori should defeat the Commonwealth of Baker Park on Matchday 3, their Atlantian Oceania rivals hold a +4 Goal Differential advantage that could come into play should San Ortelio defeat Delaclava and cause a three way tie at the Top of Group C with Baker Park, San Ortelio and Vilita & Turori all on Six Points. In this scenario the only way through for Vilita & Turori would be a victory by at least 2 goals over the Commonwealth of Baker Park which would see the goal differential of the two sides cancel out in the table. Even that may not be enough, however, and as such the most straightforward path to the Knockout Rounds for Vilita and Turori is multi-tiered, requiring both a Vilita and Turori victory over the Commonwealth of Baker Park AND a draw in the match between San Ortelio and Delaclava which would ensure that San Ortelio, the side that beat Vilita and Turori on the opening Matchday would finish on fewer points than the Little Eel Kitties.

One way or another, there is no path through to the Round of 16 without at least a draw for Vilita and Turori in the Rose Gardens. That is highly unlikely to be enough should it happen, however, as it would then require defending champions San Ortelio to lose their final group stage matchup to a Delaclava side that has yet to accrue a single point in the competition thus far. Should Vilita and Turori fail to secure victory over the Commonwealth of Baker Park, it could be the end of the reign of Purapal Eskiiy as the Vilita and Turori Under-21 head coach.

Lets take a look back at some other famous head coaches in Vilita & Turori history:

AOCAF 16-18 :: Lorenzo Mumamba
The combined Vilita and Turori National Team first appeared during the 16th AOCAF Competition where they were coached by the famous Vilita / Turori sibling duo of Lorenzo and Malaino Mumamba. Lorenzo, a famous striker for the Vilitan National Team, was joined by his brother Malaino as Assistant coach in a fitting duo to first lead the combined entity. Malaino qualified for the Turori National Team and made a career playing there before taking over as Assistant for Vilita and Turori. The Duo got off to the perfect start winning the AOCAF Title in their first attempt together, defeating Lamoni in Lamoni much to the dismay of the fans in attendance at the Final. The Mumamba's would lead Vilita and Turori back to the final one Cup later in Krytenia but this time they would be defeated as Lamoni earned their first AOCAF title in the process. The Mumamba's would coach the team for one more cycle during AOCAF 18 in Myrtannia before stepping aside. Despite having only coached the team for three Cycles, with two AOCAF Final appearances including Vilita & Turori's first ever championship as a combined entity, Lorenzo and Malaino Mumamba will always be Vilita & Turori Hall of Famers.

While the Brothers will forever be remembered for their impact behind the bench at the regional level, each also made major contributions on the pitch with both participating in their respective National Team's first ever appearances at the World Cup. Lorenzo was one of the few players over the Age of 21 on Vilita's first ever squad that participated in the Qualifiers for World Cup 13 and has a claim to fame as being the player that scored the goal for Vilita's victory in the Cup of Tardy following World Cup 13, the first official trophy ever won by the Jungle Cats at the Internationstatal level. By contrast, Malaino Mumamba had the biggest impact on the domestic side as a starting midfielder for the Yeaddin Owls during their period of domination, winning 7 Stellar Division Titles and appearing in three consecutive NS Champions League Finals including back-to-back NS Champions League titles. During Turori's debut in World Cup 15 qualifying, however, Mumamba did make a memorable impact scoring on their debut just 12 minutes in to a 2-1 victory over the nation of Ktony.

AOCAF 19-20 :: :: Ricky Ezis
Following AOCAF 18, the Mumamba Brothers handed over the coaching duties of the Vilita & Turori Regional squad to one of Malaino's teammates at the Yeaddin Owls, Ricky Ezis. Ezis came up as one of the most exciting prospects in all of Vilita, being molded in the form of the most capped Vilitan player in history at the time Enzo Ahat. Ezis started their career at Strike FC where they played alongside former Vilitan Nationals Danilo Liguori and David Leacock in the Stellar Division impressed by outperforming his more experienced teammates. By competing with them head to head at Strike and putting in high caliber performances, Ezis consistently earned selection to the Vilita National team over his defensive teammates while also helping move Strike to the top of the Stellar Division. Ricky made the switch to the Yeaddin Owls during Vilitan League Season 14 and helped lead them back to the Stellar Division Championship making the defender one of the few to ever win the Stellar Division with both Jungle Strike FC and the Yeaddin Owls. Ezis would be one of the most recognizable defenders in Vilitan history, spending 9 memorable seasons with the Yeaddin Owls earning accolades from around the world until hanging it up in Yeaddin at the age of 36 and ultimately taking on the role of manager for the Vilita and Turori Regional squad.

Like Lorenzo and Malaino Mumamba before them, Ricky Ezis' time at the helm of the Vilita & Turori Regional Squad was marked with instant success. Ezis led the Eel-Cat Things through AOCAF 19 in bettia and returned Vilita & Turori to the championship match for the third time in four Cups. The Eel-Cat Things opponent for that final would be a little known regional nation called 'Pacitalia'. It would be the first ever appearance for Pacitalia in the AOCAF Cup Final and the Pacitalians would not return to another final for six cycles. Of course, from then, the rest was history as Pacitalia would win 10 of the next 16 AOCAF titles for a period of domination not matched anywhere else in the history of major internationstatal competition. However, during AOCAF 19, under the guidance of Ricky Ezis, Vilita and Turori would become the first and only team to ever defeat Pacitalia in an AOCAF Regional Championship game. Ezis would only coach the Vilita & Turori National Team for one more cycle during AOCAF 20 but will forever be remembered as the only coach to have defeated Pacitalia in the AOCAF Final.

"It is a downright shame that this team has performed this poorly in this tournament, a tournament that they were expected to do quite well in and yet they are on the brink of being eliminated in the group stage for the first time in recent memory, what an absolute shambles it is."

"That is why I have always said that winning your first game is of vital importance, it means that the other two games have so much less pressure on them if you are able to snag a quick three points. You can go about playing your game knowing that a result in either of the other fixture means more than likely that you are going to be progressing into the knockouts. Sometimes two wins is not enough but that is very rare occurrence and truth be told, usually four point is going to be enough to snag second place in the group."

"Well the Young Wanderers are going to have to hope beyond hope that it will be, if they can find a way to even get their first victory against a group of players who have hundreds if not over a thousand years of experience on the team. I am not sure what sort of species that this Geektopia side is, but that they have been allowed to compete on some technicality is really a head scratching affair, though for all the good it has done them as they are in the same situation that the Young Wanderers are in with only a draw against Pemecutan to their name through the first two games."

"Aye, both teams are going to be fighting hard for a victory as a draw is not good enough for either team to advance if Pemecutan manages to pull an upset on the already advanced Tumbra side, it will matter not what happens between our side and the Geektopia lot as they will have five points on the board. It is far from a good situation for the Young Wanderers to find themselves in and again it was what was supposed to be the strength of the side in the defense that failed them in their game against Tumbra. Nothing is going according to plan here in the Eternal Empire and do I have this grand fear that it may be too little too late for Griffiths' youth team to claw themselves out of this mess that they find themselves in."

"Well Griffiths has shown the capabilities of getting their teams out of tough spots with the senior team and they are going to have to pull out a tactical masterclass of the highest order in order for the Young Wanderers to get the needed victory. Then you have to hope that the Tumbra side who has looked head and shoulders above the rest of the group can at least continue their unbeaten ways in the group and send Pemecutan home. It is not impossible but it is dire, yet gritting through tough scenarios is what Pasargans are known for doing, so I have a bit of hope yet still that it will all come together for the side."
