You like the idea of an 18 year old boy romancing his 13 year old "niece" ;) ?

Around that time such age-gap couples were pretty common. Thankfully, in their case it turned out fine, unlike others.

Contrary to the nonsense propagated these days by ignorant wokists, Gandhi expressed his support for black South Africans, and tended to injured Zulu soldiers during the Bambatha Uprising in 1906. He was also an inspiration to African liberation struggles across the continent. There's a good reason why icons of black Africa from Kwame Nkrumah to Nelson Mandela drew inspiration from him and respected him.

Could we perhaps stop crying "racism!" where there is none? It diminishes and trivialises the brutal reality of racism where it does in fact exist.

I mean, it was just a joke, but here's a few examples of his actual racism.

to degrade us to the level of the raw kaffir whose occupation is hunting, and whose sole ambition is to collect a certain number of cattle to buy a wife with, and then, pass his life in indolence and nakedness.
1896.

About this mixing of the Kaffirs with the Indians, I must confess I feel most strongly. I think it is very unfair to the Indian population and it is an undue tax on even the proverbial patience of my countrymen.
1904.

We believe also that the white race in South Africa should be the predominating race.
1903.

We were marched off to a prison intended for Kaffirs. There, our garments were stamped with the letter “N”, which meant that we were being classed with the Natives. We were all prepared for hardships, but not quite for this experience. We could understand not being classed with the whites, but to be placed on the same level with the Natives seemed too much to put up with.
1908.

I have no doubt about the soundness of my advice. However much one may sympathise with the Bantus, Indians cannot make common cause with them.
1939.

A general belief seems to prevail in the Colony that the Indians are little better, if at all, than savages or the Natives of Africa. Even the children are taught to believe in that manner, with the result that the Indian is being dragged down to the position of a raw Kaffir.
1894.

Philip was criticised during his life, every single time he made one of these comments.

He was also taken out of context a lot to sell newspapers.

The chap who reported on the spear chucking Aborigines comment was on tv yesterday and gave the whole context of the remark. It was a perfectly sensible thing to ask given the context of the whole day. He only reported it without context because he knew it would be a front page in the UK and the Duke apparently pulled him up on it later in private.

Not on Vass's side of the argument but it'd help your case if you pointed out at least a few of said inaccuracies.

Queen Victoria literally married her first cousin.

And don't even get me started on the Habsburgs.

Long story short: Royals are friggin' weird.

He would never have got to be king, it literally was not an option.

If a whole lot of people died he would theoretically be able to claim the Greek throne back before marrying Elizabeth. Not that it's a throne you'd necessarily want to hold with the benefit of hindsight.

With a sufficient amount of death anyone of vague European descent can be made monarch of nearly any European throne.

I said it earlier in the thread, but it seems a weird double standard to me that people have been all over the internet shitting on Prince Philip for making a few off-color jokes, but I've seen nothing but praise for DMX, who wrote a song celebrating the murder of LGBT people.
