Your heart may be in the right place, but now for a quick lesson in the UK monarchy.

Queen Elizabeth is the monarch -- single (and sadly bereaved). Prince Philip was never the King. He was the Duke of Edinburgh. This is due to a parliamentary quirk that means the husband of a reigning queen is called "prince consort" rather than "King". A man can only become King by inheriting the title.

There has not been a King of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth since Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI.

North, many of their loyalist elders aren't any better. They were involved in things like the UDA, UVF or red hand commandos and engaged in sectarian killing of Irish Catholics. Where do you think the kids learned all this anger from, caillou? Northern Ireland has been a cauldron of interethnic tension for a very long time, and the elders probably aren't helping considering many of them either actively were involved in anti-catholic terror organizations or supported said organizations.

Oh right, I forgot that the virus only infects people when the government says it can, hence why all those rule-breaking VE Day parties were allowed.

Two police officers have been sacked after filming themselves breaking the speed limit at 89 mph in a seized high-performance vehicle.

Devon and Cornwall Police officers PC Shaun Pearce and PC Daniel Pike shared the video with colleagues on WhatsApp.

They were taking part in road safety campaign, which included preventing speeding, at the time.

A disciplinary hearing on Thursday found the officers had committed gross misconduct and should be dismissed.

They are now banned from working for the police in England and Wales.

PC Pearce and PC Pike were on road safety duty as part of the 'Fatal Five' campaign - which includes targeting speeding drivers - when the incident happened on 16 January 2019 , the hearing heard.

The officers had seized the vehicle, and while waiting for a recovery vehicle to arrive, drove it without the owner's permission reaching speeds up to 89 mph over 3.1 miles.

I guess royalism was more important than safety. The UK government clearly does not "listen to the science" when making political decisions.

Nah, cause covid doesn't spread at funerals for famous people. Covid picks and chooses where to spread based on the political climate of the area.

The funeral procession won't be happening, I believe, because of the pandemic. Don't want people lining the streets. It won't be a state funeral because, as you say, Philip just didn't want one.

It should be relatively obvious, even to some posters on here, that the feedback/outcry over the met police handling at the Clapham vigil will inevitably effect how they are acting with regards to other vigils.

What a shame that they only had the realisation that they have some discretion in how they enforce the law after the vigil for the woman apparently murdered by one of their colleagues.
