This seems interesting.
Could give this a try. I have some memory of the original as I tried to get in on an old, long gone account.
Yugoslavia's back baby...

How the hell did this happen?
Well...we don't actually know. Just sort of happened one day.
Is it a reunited Yugoslavia in the 21st century? Is a rebel colony world in the far future? Is it a race of cyborg neo-life at war with any assimilating organisms they come across in the far far future? Who knows, who cares?
New Yugoslavia just is.

Oh I mean that the Rank would probably be between Seaman 1st class (The third Enlisted rank, otherwise known as just Seaman), Petty Officer 3rd Class (E4), and Petty Officer 2nd Class (E5)

Seaman First Class - Petty Officer 3rd Class isn't a rank either but my bad for not clarifying before

Alright. Thanks. Fixed it to Petty Officer 2nd Class then.

Does the Valkyrie have any supporting ships in the battlefleet or is it flying solo?

Current thoughts are either a commander of another ship in the Valkyrie battlegroup or a flight commander of Vultures

The Valkyrie will generally be in a battlegroup. I’m open to players commanding other ships but as a secondary character. That way priority is the personnel on the Valkyrie.

-- Record, YURIEVICH, PEVTSOV - SERIAL NO. 36578186209

Biography: Born on earth in the city of Moscow, Pevtsov grew up in a military household. His father was enlisted in the Marines, and therefor the family of 4 was moving to various parts of the world, and Earth colonies, every few years. Pevtsov grew up comfortably, the presence of food, power, and shelter was never in doubt for him, but the lack of stability in his environment had the effect it has on most military children who travel from world to world, he didn't have many friends. he learned to live with just himself, and his brother who was several years older than him, never needing anyone else to support him emotionally. Many psychologists would say that damaged him. But Pevtsov seems to not have suffered too greatly.

Due to all the interplanetary travel, Pevtsov became fascinated by space-craft, particularly the smaller vehicles. Living on military bases, Pevtsov could often persuade the pilots to let him set in the cockpit while the craft was on the ground. A few times Pevtsov was allowed to ride in the passenger bay of a Vulture. While growing up, he decided that he wanted to fly in the Aerospace force, not caring much for the confines of a larger spaceship or the rough and tumble life of a Marine or Soldier. When he turned 18 he applied for, and was accepted into, the Lunar Flight School. The next four years would see Pevtsov training to be a pilot. He got slated for gunships and CAS aircraft, specifically those attached to Naval groups. He graduated from the Flight school in 2331, and spent another year in Officer's School, graduating in 2332 as a Second Lieutenant. His first deployment was to Battlegroup Thor, centered around the Odin-class Thor carrier conducting anti-Piracy operations in Lalande with the New Suns Fundamentalists. As a Vulture gunship pilot he found himself attacking the zealots with rockets and napalm. He would be stationed there for 2 years, before transferring with his promotion to 1st Lieutenant to Space Station Lupis, near Pacifica, where he was reassigned to a Lockheed-Grumman Attack Squadron and was responsible for aiding in the policing of trade and intercepting drug-runners and smugglers.

Pevstov went before the promotion board in late 2337, due to his service against the New Suns Fundementalists and anti-smuggling operations near Pacifica, the board approved Pevtsov's promotion in January of 2338. The newly promoted captain sat on his rank for several months while Aerospace Force command searched for a place to deploy him, eventually finding a place for him aboard the Odin-Class Valkyrie Carrier, where he has been given command of a flight of Lockheed-Grumman Attack Craft.

Generally to attain the rank of Captain you’d exit the officers academy (separate from flight school) with the rank of Lieutenant at around age 23. Then add four years for the average age of 27 for newly minted Captains in an airforce if you pass promotional board and such.

Name: Jonathan 'Jon' Wilson
Date of Birth: 1st April 2297
Homeworld: Earth
Place of Birth: New York City
Prior Criminal Record: None
Prior Service: None
Character Description:

Family:

Jonathan was married to Mariam Williams, an archaeologist by profession, in 2319. They divorced in 2331, and she remarried. They have an eighteen years old daughter, Jessie, who lives with her mother. Jonathan has since engaged in a couple of relationships, but nothing serious. Despite the divorce, he remains a friend with his ex-wife.

Biography:

Born in 1st April 2297 to a middle class family in New York City. His father, Adams, was a homicide detective in New York Police Department. His mother, Natalie, was a Chef at an Italian restaurant. As a young boy, Jonathan showed academic talent, earning good grades in most lessons. His father would play 'detective games' - as he called them - with him; he would have Jonathan take a look at people inside a room for a few seconds, close his eyes and then answer questions about those people (such as their clothing, any tattoos, their appearance, etch). Another 'game' was watching videos of witnesses (in past, solved cases) being interviewed; Jonathan would have to tell if they were lying or telling the truth. Those exercises allowed Jonathan to develop a photographic memory and to be able to tell at once if someone was lying.

His mother Natalie taught him a number of recipes, most of them Italian, and Jonathan took an interest in cooking. In 2315, at the age of eighteen, Jonathan went to Luna to visit his grandfather on his father's side; a professor of medieval history at a university. His parents couldn't come due to their work, and Jonathan was supposed to stay in Moon only for a week or so. The day after Jonathan arrived to Luna, nukes rained down on Earth. New York was decimated; both of his parents died. With the Earth facing a Martial invasion, Jonathan had to remain on Luna.

Although he initially desired to follow into the footsteps of his father by become a detective, he decided instead to become a Chef like his mother. He gained a BA in Culinary Arts in 2320. In 2321, he was employed as a cook in a local Italian restaurant. It wasn't long before he became the lead Chef, his culinary skills considered 'divine' by those eating. In 2325, a costumer died while eating in the restaurant; he had been poisoned. Jonathan's pasta dish was blamed. Jonathan, finding himself suddenly accused, decided to launch an investigation of his own. Using the skills his father had taught, he solved the case and found that the murderer who had poisoned the food was the victim's girlfriend (who had accompanied the victim to the restaurant).

This detective work earned him the friendship of Alexis Doukas, a Greek-descended homicide investigator. Jonathan would informally aid Alexis in a number of cases - mostly murder - over the years. His fame was such that he was dubbed the 'Chef Sherlock Holmes'. Yet he never formally took up the profession of investigator and remained a Chef at the restaurant. Unfortunately for Jonathan, the owner died in 2331 and his son had no interest in the restaurant; he sold it and the new owner turned it into a café shop. Jonathan was unemployed.

Jonathan had to find a job at another restaurant, this time on Earth, in Los Angeles. The city had more or less recovered from the nuclear war, but as economic activity returned to normal so did crime. Jonathan was lucky that a regular at the restaurant he was working was Joseph Jackson, a homicide detective. Joseph had heard of Jonathan before - his reputation had made him famous in police circles - and used his help for a number of cases. In 2337, Jonathan was once again out of job as the restaurant bankrupted.

While searching for a new job, it came to his attention that the Terran Navy was looking for Chefs. While at first hesitant, he decided to apply for a job. With his culinary reputation, Jonathan was easily employed. Since then, Jonathan has been cooking for the crewmen of the Valkyrie.

Great Confederacy of Commonwealth States wrote:Personnel Files
Name: John Israel al-Numan
Date of Birth: 2nd of May 2300 AD (6064 according to the New Sun Count)
Homeworld: Lalande
Place of Birth: The Town of Evangelie, Gabriel Province
Prior Criminal Record: Membership of the New Sun Brotherhood; pardonned.
Prior Service: The Great Colonial War
Character Description:

John has a New Sun tattoo on the back of his neck
Family: The al-Numan family his fairly numerous: John at one point had seven siblings; three brothers and four sisters. One brother and two sisters perished during the War. His father too died, but from starvation. His mother is still alive. One grandfather still lives; his other grandfather died of old age, as did a grandmother; the other grandmother died during the war. Seven aunts and six uncles rendered some five-dozen cousins, about a third of whom are still alive. Their family was particularly hard-hit during the war.
Biography: The history of Lalande is fascinating in many ways, but most interesting to our story is the way it was settled. Lalande was the first colony to be founded and primarily inhabited by second-wave colonists; those who had lived some amount of their life in one of the existing colonies before making the jump to Lalande. The colony was, in many ways, the product of disappointment with the Martian colonies: the promised freedom which drew so many to settle the New Frontier was lacking, as so close to Earth, both the Earth governments and the corporations exerted their influence unabated. As one colonist noted, there were backwaters on Earth that were harder to reach than Mars itself was, and Earth was eager to use Mars for their own propaganda.

While the Red Front only emerged in 2155, the presence of nationalist forces made itself known before in the form of incidental violence. Religious minorities were often the targets of this nationalism, and due to the international nature of the colonies, most religions were to be considered minority religions. These minorities had little to expect from their brothers and sisters back on the Blue Marble; schisms within the Abrahamic faiths had been rampant since the first days of settlement. For the Muslims, the question of Pilgrimage had separated them from Earth Islam, since it was incredibly difficult for those living in the colonies to make the Hajj. Questions on the direction of prayer in the colonies were left unanswered, not taken seriously by most Muslim scholars, or at least not the ones with proper funding and authority. Catholic Christians asked the Pope to appoint Martian bishoprics and expand the college of cardinals, but in the Papal bull Orbis Alius the Pope denied the possibility that Martian soil could be sanctified, and as such, no cathedrals could be constructed and no bishops could be invested. The Orthodox Christians, most hailing from Russia, found similar deaf ears with the Patriarch in Istanbul.

Those of protestant and reformed faiths, due to their decentralised position, had an easier time in the colonies, but it was that decentralisation that led to a very distinct theology forming, especially with regards to the explanation of those biblical verses relating to the World. This was something that all Peoples of the Book had in common, but it was the primary challenge for the protestant Christians. Of extreme importance was the Gospel according to John, which mentions the world in various instances:

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

These quotes from the Gospel according to John, and various like it in other different texts, led to a very distinct theology springing up simultaneously among multiple different Abrahamic faiths. These theological points were eschewed by their contemporaries, and especially by the mother organisations back on earth, but this only served to grow the divide between them, the colonists feeling misunderstood.

And we have not sent you, O Muhammad, except as a mercy to the worlds (note the plural).

The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception

The violence between nationalist, religiously orthodox groups and the New Faiths would lead to their exodus in the 2150s. Many settled in the Lalande system, especially on the planet of Lalande. It was dangerous at first, but it had been slowly terraformed over the previous fifty years by the terraforming-pods that had been sent there. By the time the colonists arrived it was a barren, desolate place, but with a somewhat breathable atmosphere and temperatures ranging between +60 and -50 degrees Celsius, which made it at least habitable. Human interaction with the planet made it more liveable with every passing year, and the harshness of the colonisation made it necessary for the people of various faiths to collaborate. So far away from home, they found comfort in the colonist-friendly theologies of their fellow Peoples of the Book. These faiths would, over time, slowly merge, yet never being given a true name; everyone just referring to it as the Faith. It lacked an organisational structure per se, but there was lively debate among the various settlements and their congregations in various different bodies, partially mimicking the Old Earth organisations, though the entire Faith had a distrust for any organised, powerful body.

The Seventeen Year War was particularly brutal, and the new Faith partially found itself in that conflict, as the necessities of war dictated what tenants were to be important. From the Christian tradition came the concept of Martyrdom, as they saw themselves in conflict with a new, pagan Roman Empire in the form of Earth. The idea that the Church in Rome secretly controlled the government was common among the inhabitants of Lalande. Both Christianity and Islam knew the concept of Holy War, although it was more doctrinally developed in Islam. Also from Islam came the concept of strict theological legalism, although sources were taken from the Talmud, the Bible and the Quran together. Judaism had always played a more minor influence because of the small amount of initial Jewish settlers, but it contributed heavily in the legal department.

All this to say that, although they were not with many when the war began, the ferocity and zealotry of the Lalanders shocked the galaxy. These were units that would not surrender, that fought to the bitter end, and who would often take no prisoners. While this made them hated throughout the galaxy, their prominence also spread their religion to all those who wanted to hear. A small but devoted group of soldiers took their side in the war, and refugees from all over the galaxy found their way to Lalande. A growth in population that was almost entirely negated during the Great Siege, the campaign for Lalande, which saw Terran troops landed planet-side to quell the rebellion. It was a slog that would only see its equal during the Great Colonial War, some 140 years later. Eventually the planet had to surrender, but during those 140 years, the Long Peace never quite reached every end of Lalande, and sectarian violence aimed at the ‘invaders’ flared up from time to time.

During the Long Peace, however, the population of Lalande exploded, and its religious faith began to diversify. With a strong tradition of dialogue borrowed from the Jewish tradition, but no strong central authority, there were bound to grew doctrinal differences. While many parts, like the saintly veneration of martyrs, continued, and the general disgust of Earth continued, there were various more practical issues on which different congregations diverged. While the Great Terran Devil remained, this would never grow into full-on war, but to call the debate peaceful would not do it justice. It was during the second half of the Long Peace that the Brotherhood of the New Sun arose. It began as a coalition of the descendants of those warriors who had died on Earth during the Seventeen Year War and various armed groups that were still engaged in sectarian violence. They saw Earth and its inhabitants as a demonic influence, worshipping Sol as a life-giver like the Pagan cults of old. The Brotherhood thought that the Earth and its inhabitants had to be extinguished, its holy sites destroyed and its people purged, so that the demonic influence of Earth would disappear. For this, they required a strong, central leadership and a theocratic state, which they set about building.

While the Brotherhood was always violent, authoritarian and warlike, it enjoyed some initial support. Lalande was no stranger to terrorism in the name of their liberty, after all, and they held no love for the Terran occupying force and the hard justice that had sent many of their heroes to the gallows. But as the Brotherhood became increasingly dictatorial and genocidal, it lost many of its more moderate followers, who joined in the Free Faith Coalition in 2315. Fifteen years before this split, John was born.

Now, the rural Lalande economy, consisting of small villages that could be hundreds of miles apart, was a hard place to grow up in, and the various religious and political organisations provided what little relief there was in the area. They often provided communication services when Earth companies found the area unprofitable, and their armed gangs were more for safety than for control. John grew up in an area that was dominated by Brotherhood activity, and even after the FCC formed in ’15, that disorganised theoretical club could do little to supplant the work the Brotherhood was doing, and as such, the Brotherhood maintained a rather sizeable control over Lalande. Though, of course, they were never in direct opposition to the Terran government, and only provided extra services.

That was, until 2315. The Martian nuclear holocaust of Earth was met with jubilation on Lalande, much to the dismay of the small Terran administrative population, mainly contained to the space ports. A low-level bureaucrat, during one particularly festive night, shouted for the revellers to shut up from her apartment window, indicating that she had lost her children during the attack. Angry Brotherhood zealots broke into her home and crucified her, placing the cross under guard on the city square. It took the woman three days to die, the process being streamed live on television. Her death was the signal for the coup to begin, and after some initial skirmishes the small Terran garrison, a skeleton force following the withdrawal of troops for the war, surrendered. John counted himself among the Brotherhood armed rebels at that point, as did many of his compatriots. But soon after, the Brotherhood began what it called the ‘Great Finishing’: “as our Martian brothers kill the Terrans in their beds, so will we slaughter them here. They will find no resting place among the stars”.

The New Sun genocide did not end with Terran-borns. Among the first victims were also those of more traditional religions, Christians and Muslims for example. Those descended from them too, until the Brotherhood issued their Purity Decree: only the descendants of the First Colonists, chosen by the Lord, could be allowed into their new Kingdom of Heaven. It had all the worst parts of a Christian kingdom, a caliphate, and a Jewish state, being extremely authoritarian and war-like. When the genocide began, many Brotherhood fighters, including John, decided to switch sides, and joined the FFC, which in turn struck an alliance with the Terran navy. Now, this was unpopular, and many joined various other armed groups, but John kept loyal: a deal with the devil could be struck to prevent worse evil, and there existed the idea that somehow, John had to ‘make up’ for the nuclear rain on Earth. The FFC militias were integrated into the Navy, mostly, and together, they would win ‘space vietnam’, though the traditional Terran units suffered extreme casualties against the ruthless Brotherhood militias.

John just stayed with the Navy when the fighting was mostly over. Though the fighting never really ended, eventually the Brotherhood had been pushed back to the jungles and swamps of the hinterland, not capable of threatening the space ports and industrial centres. John became a soldier, and would later become a legal officer, for the Terran navy, keeping the peace among his own people. Rather he do it than some overzealous, war-torn Terran veteran who had lost family during the Rain. John would play an important part in the build-up of a post-war Lalande, with modern institutions and a more secular government.

It is now 2338, and there is need for John to move abroad. The Brotherhood has increased its attacks against Lalande-born officers and personnel on the planet, choosing covert and terrorist tactics instead of their traditional guerrilla style. As such, John, like many of his companions, has been taken off-world and spread throughout the fleet, partially as an attempt to integrate Lalande more with the military infrastructure, but also to keep knowledge about the society alive for when there is another war.

Place of Birth: Bethesda, Greater Washington-Douglas Commonwealth, North America
Prior Criminal Record: N/A
Prior Service: Lalanden Intifada of '32, Colonial Marine Corps
Character Description:
Victor is a dark haired woman of average build and height for her age. Victor, as with some other veterans, suffers from chronic subconjunctival bleeding. This is visible as occasional blood or red discoloration in the whites of one or both eyes, caused by the extended use of a malfunctioning pattern-6 void combat helmet in a variable pressure environment. Vision is not negatively impacted, however eye drops are commonly prescribed to manage itchiness or discomfort.
Family:
    • Father: RADM Honorius Victor (retired)
    • Mother: Lauren Victor
    • Sister: Jacklyn Kissinger (Junior Senator, NA)
    • Brother: ENS Paul Victor (active duty, currently serving aboard the TNV Kennedy III)
Biography:
Cornelia Hale Victor, a new addition to a long and storied lineage of career military men, entered the world shortly before the beginning of the Great Colonial War. Her early years were spent in relative peace, a privilege afforded by her father's posting along Earth's mid-Atlantic coast. An advantaged member of Terran society, Cornelia was able to benefit from all the opportunity and education that the most powerful nation-state in history could provide. During the Rain, Victor and the rest of her family took shelter deep underneath the ground. A relic of the pre-Luna Accords government of the United States, the bunker-system underneath the former capitol of the free world sheltered several thousand high government officials and their families, including the Victors. She would not return to the surface for nearly a decade, and even then clean-up operations continued through her teenage years.

Eager to leave the confining safe-zones of the East coast, Victor applied and was accepted to Texas A&M University. Initially wary of joining the military, Victor's father encouraged her to join the Reserve Officers Training Corps. Victor would remain an avid member of the organization, achieving both the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the CMC Reserves and a Bachelor's degree in Communication after the conclusion of her four years at the school. Fresh out of college, Victor briefly worked for a civilian media company before being called up due to the outbreak of the Lalanden Intifada of '32.

On the distant planet, a mining conglomerate acquired the rights to several hundred square kilometers of swampland said to lie atop a significant pocket of gas. Within that same area was also rumored to be a shrine belonging to holdout New Sun followers, left alone by local authorities and insignificant enough to be safely ignored by military officials. Dealing with the holdouts in the same way that they would deal with feral animals, the conglomerate hired a platoon of PMCs and ordered them to clear out their property. The "shrine" proved to be far larger than expected, serving as a shelter for several hundred New Sun fundamentalists, who refused to be relocated or accept aide from Terra during the reconstruction period following the Great Colonial War. Initial forays from the PMCs resulted in significant loss of life on both sides, in addition to a grave number of civilian deaths. Footage from those engagements were leaked and widely distributed, resulting in civil unrest and violence not seen since the conclusion of the war. The civilian government on Terra was forced to backpedal their disarmament policy, calling up several thousand fresh troops from the Reserves -- including Cornelia.

Having been shipped out to Lalande, Cornelia endured 3 years of continuous low-intensity warfare with the holdout New Suns. Initially involved in anti-piracy and smuggling operations in atmosphere, her unit was eventually transferred to the surface as the situation degraded in '33 and the AGC requested even more Terran reinforcements. Better trained and equipped than their counterparts in the AGC, Colonial Marine formations were often used as shock troops during engagements with the Sun worshipers. The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), in particular, favored the use of marines due to the greater level of institutional trust they placed in the CMC. Therefore, it was during this period that Victor first encountered the Naval Intelligence, aiding them with a variety of fact-finding and counter-insurgency missions over the course of the Intifada. After the capture and subsequent trial of the three principal leaders of the Lalanden opposition, the unrest began to return to normal levels. During the closing months of '34, Victor was approached by a handler from ONI. She was offered a promotion laterally into the Navy, whereupon she would work directly for the Office. She agreed, returning to Sol for 3 months of training at a classified facility.

In service of Naval Intelligence, Victor has participated in a variety of post-Great Colonial War conflicts. During the Eridani-Rossite Dispute of '36, Victor and other ONI officials attempted to foment a weapons sale with sympathetic officers in the Eridani Navy. During a rare flashpoint in the otherwise friendly history between the two nations, a Rossite ship collided with a Terran freighter in Eridani space. Though ruled to be an accident, both Martian and Terran officials attempted to use the event to draw their respective allies, Eridani with Terra and the Ross Worlds with Mars, closer into their spheres of influence. Later that same year, a group of armed Martian nationalists entered the Terran consulate on Phobos and took several diplomats and employees hostage. Preventing Terran soldiers from entering their space, Martian armed forces broke the siege and recovered the hostages. Their exfiltration and the subsequent manhunt for the hostage-takers was overseen by Naval Intelligence, with Victor being stationed on a listening post just outside Martian space for the duration of the crisis.

As of 2338, Cornelia Victor has achieved rank of Lieutenant Commander. Stationed aboard the Valkyrie, she is the head of the ship's Intelligence and Analysis department, and the officer to which the few ONI agents aboard the Valkyrie report. Though billeted as a full department, Victor has very few resources at her immediate disposal. Therefore, the Intelligence and Analysis is largely an advisory body and must draw muscle from the ranks of the Military Police or Marines when necessary.

Edited.

Also, is the Lockheed-Grumman suitable for space operations or just atmospheric?

I wondered this as well, but the description calls it an 'aerospace craft', which implies space, and also that it is used to attack space installations.
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

It is atmospheric and space capable. All Aerospace craft stationed on Naval vessels are capable of both. So they can be launched from space based carriers like the Valkyrie. The Lockheed-Grumman is essentially a very very angry A-10 capable of putting the hurt in space and on the ground. But also can transport troops so sort of a cross between the A-10 and the AC-130. Thanks to it’s extremely modular and well designed mechanics it’s armaments and superstructure can be modified for various mission load outs rather fast by the Valkyrie’s hangar crews.

That is a question...

Kek.

Well what I listed was standard default load outs. Nothing stopping putting a 40mm or even a 105mm autocannon mounted on a rotating set up to engage hard ground targets. Basically this is the “Death from above” plane for Marines ground side or needing an installation just lit up before they assault.

If BRRRRRRRRT is not the answer but the question, the the reasonable assumption must be made that the answer is yes.

Which if that doesn’t work the Valkyries main battery is 1862mm or approx 73 inch guns.
