The International Council is an assembly that deals with diplomatic affairs and foreign policy. It is elected by other nations, not by Tocan's own citizens. This year all seats in the IC are up for grabs.

The way the voting works is as follows:

* YOU MAY ONLY VOTE ONCE. THAT INCLUDES PUPPETS. You may NOT use puppets to influence the result. One vote per user.
* Vote for up to 3 political parties.
* Whatever % a party gets corresponds to the number of seats it gets in the Int'l Council.

Currently the Green Party is in the lead, with the Communist Party and LPP also doing well. The left seems to be doing well this election, but it’s too early to say.

Just so everyone has an understanding of the political parties, I’m going to compare each of them to political parties /ideologies on earth.

Communist Party - generic western communist party. Would be on the fringe of most democracy’s political spectrum.

Green Party - similar to the US Green Party, or a Red-green party like the Socialist Peoples Party of Denmark.

Republicans - third way social liberal/social democratic parties

Liberal Progressive- like Bernie sanders, socially progressive soc dems

Democratic Freedom - similar to Republicans but broader political scope

New Conservative - generic western Conservative party, with some elements of right wing populism

Tocan Forward - similar to populist anti-immigrant parties like the National Front in France

Free Liberal - similar to economically liberal European parties like the FDP in Germany

Political parties’ positions on foreign policy:

Communist - wants to ally with other socialist nations, and wants to cut ties with capitalist nations and nations that abuse human rights. Supports socialist uprisings in capitalist nations. Neutral on whether tocan isle should join the wa.

Green Party - wants to cut ties with nations that abuse human rights, exploit the environment, and are overly capitalistic. Does NOT support free trade agreements, especially ones that hurt Tocanian workers or the environment. Neutral on whether tocan isle should join the wa.

Liberal Progressive - very Internationalist and globalist. Supports international organizations such as LITA, the WA, and regions. Also wants to cut ties with nations that abuse human rights.

Republicans - skeptical of some of tocans communist allies, wants to open up a bit more to capitalist nations. Neutral on joining the WA.

Democratic Freedom Party - the DFP wants to be allies with much more nations, and wants to open up to capitalist nations. It thinks that tocan isle is too isolationist. Supports joining the wa.

New Conservative - skeptical of most alliances. Does not support joining the WA and wants to leave the region SolarFlare.

Tocan Forward- strongly opposed to the WA and wants to leave SolarFlare.

Free Liberal - the FLP supports more free trade and wants to open up to more nations. Wants to be allies with much more nations. Neutral on joining the WA.

Vote vote vote! There are only a few days left for voting. Say what party your nation endorses and ask questions about the policies of the parties if you want.

Currently the Green Party is in the lead, with the Liberal Progressives (LPP) in a strong second place. Trailing closely behind are the Communist Party and the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP). The party currently performing the worst is the Free Liberal Party (FLP).

Remember that you can only vote ONCE, and you can't use puppets to sway the vote.

Just a note on how the seating will work:

There will be 50 seats. So if [x] party gets, say, 26% of the vote, it will get 26% of the seats which would be 13.

Voting ends in a few days! Vote for up to 3 parties if you haven't already, and please don't use puppets to influence the vote.

Election results will be out on April 2! (not april 1 because then no one would take me seriously)

The Green Party and Liberal Progressive Party are tied for first place currently. The Democratic Freedom Party is in 2nd place, with the Communists and Tocan Foward party also both doing well. Republicans: “the Republican representatives will advocate for a more open foreign policy, and will open up to more nations, because we are stronger together.”

Liberal Progressive: “we are an internationalist party and will encourage trade with other countries so that every nation can flourish. We will advocate for Tocan Isle joining the WA and other international organizations that benefit humanity.”

Democratic Freedom: “our representatives will continue to fight for democracy, freedom, and global cooperation. We support joining the WA and want to ally with many nations.”

New conservative: “Our alliances with socialist nations have been holding us back, and same with all our spending in foreign aid. We will focus on what really matters: the military, and our own home.”

Tocan forward: “Tocan Forward will bring change to Tocan Isle’s entire outlook on foreign policy. Our alliances distract from problems at home, and we must abandon other nations who rely on our foreign aid and focus on our wonderful nation Tocan.”

Free liberal : “we support an open foreign policy with lots of free trade. We also support joining the WA.”
